    What?

  • psalm234

The ankle injury looks to be severely impacting Lin’s 3pt shooting.
Before the 3/19 injury, he shot 41% 3FG (21/51) in the month of March but only 18% 3FG (4-21) afterwards.

Better pray that his ankle injury is healed very soon.

  • psalm234

@JLin7 ankle injury on 3/19 severely impacted his 3pt shooting% in March
    Pre 3/19: shot 41% 3FG (20-51)
    Post 3/19: shot only 18% 3FG (4-21)

    Let’s šŸ™ for healing

  • CraigG

    Good finding
only 7 games left I hope Lin gets his apg up

  • DX

Yes, Lin’s shooting has lost in recent games.

  • sport

Only 3 point shooting, everything is back on track. Lin can finally get to the rim and his mid range jumpers are smooth. Once his ankle is better it should be fine.

  • orLinaryjoe

You think it’s ankle related based on? Any source? Unbalanced shot?

  • orLinaryjoe

If that is the case then bring back the floater off one leg.

  • psalm234

No, just my theory based on the strong drop-off from 41% to 18% since 3/19 ankle injury. That could be strongly correlated. Others think it could be a shooting slump.

But whatever it might be, let’s hope Lin can overcome it in the final 7 games so he can finish the season in good note

  • DX

Yes, Lin starts attacking the rim more. It seems he has totally recovered from injury on both mental and physical.

  • takeme2cruz

Can anyone name what offense the Nets first scored?

  • sws94

Ridiculous pass that hits the front rim and goes in.

  • takeme2cruz

Did you see another PnR but Lopez missed layup?

  • sws94

Lopez didn’t convert on Lin’s lob, missed an easy push shots. Those are the shots that need to fall to win games.

  • takeme2cruz

    Not lob, it’s pnr.

  • CJSHYY

It’s his birthday… he’s too high or what? smh!

  • Alaingrvis

Lopez keeps missing shot so we keep posting him

  • CraigG

    stupid TO by Lopez

  • sws94

Lin through a lob up to Lopez on the PnR. Lopez really isn’t a dunker off the lob.

  • takeme2cruz

Those were high percentage shots, he’ll get them.

  • sws94

Terrible start for the starters, the offense needs to be mixed up. Team wide shooting slump. Maybe KA should bring in SKil, the team needs a boost.

  • zxcvb

Every possession is about Brook and he can’t deliver. Bad strategy by Kenny. Lin had open driving lanes early on but the plan was to keep feeding Brook no matter how many open shots he misses.

  • sws94

I think we should mix it up. Lopez is too amped up or just cold, he’s missing a lot of shots.

  • Steppen03

    Now, Nets! Let’s go, JL7! 25pt & 8ast

  • takeme2cruz

He can make those shot easily, just missed layup.

  • zxcvb

Imagine Lin having a big like Gordon. What a finisher!

  • sws94

Beautiful pass to RHJ. That’s why I like RHJ with Lin. He can get to spots for easy buckets. Hopefully, next season, he’ll be better at converting them.

  • CraigG

but he cant finish most of the time

  • takeme2cruz

Nets are not making shots but they’re playing the right ways, Lin’s feeding.

  • sws94

He has to work at finishing, that should be a big priority in the off-season.

  • takeme2cruz

That didn’t happen the whole season until now. RHJ loved to drive uncontrol.

  • Guest

Did you miss the Magic taking advantage of his poor defense?

  • sws94

I’ve seen a few times balls thrown up to Lopez that he didn’t finish with a strong dunk. It was a lob for a dunk.

  • sws94

I didn’t post about defense. I said I like Lin and RHJ’s offensive chemistry that’s developing.

  • takeme2cruz

dame ref ignored foul on lin

  • Dorothy

    Lin strikes

  • sws94

Good, Lin’s 3 fell. It’s a bit of a moonball, but it fell.

  • takeme2cruz

    Lin missed long 2. lol

  • Guest

“That’s why I like RHJ with Lin.”

Never mind his horrendous defense. Dumb!

  • sws94

Great block by Lin, I guess his pass to Booker was too strong. Not sure. Rest time for Lin.

  • CraigG

    Bad pass
Lin’s gotta make better decisions when team is having a run

  • Alaingrvis

Lin missing his shots. He should just keep shooting

  • sws94

Not missing too bad, but missed on 2 layups he usually makes.

  • sws94

He’s not perfect and made one bad decision. He’s made mostly solid decisions and played a solid PG on both ends so far.

  • sws94

Booker’s playing well in the post tonight.

  • sws94

So you want to fight for no reason, not interested.

  • CaliUSMC

Wth is wrong with Lin.. frustrating

  • sws94

    Orlando is shooting well.

  • sws94

Lin is playing well. Shots aren’t falling, but beyond that, he played great.

  • CJSHYY

    Bench play well.

  • takeme2cruz

Need to move Lavert to SG, RHJ SF and Booker PF, this lineup will be instant improvement.

  • HVJoy
  • sws94

We’re getting the good Booker today. Archie Goodwin look good.

  • CJSHYY

He & Hamilton both play well today. Birthday boy…. lol!

  • CraigG

Jesus this went on forever eating up Lin’s minutes

  • CJSHYY

But our bench played better than starters in the past few games…??

  • Joe what do you know

    He’s got 5 assists in one quarter… that’s something.

  • Dorothy

    Lin in

  • sws94

Bench played well, starters started slow, did great after TO.

  • sws94

There’s an example of Lin not being in peak physical form, just didn’t have the strength in his body to finish near the rim.

  • Dorothy

    Lin’s shooting….

  • CaliUSMC

  • good thing he appears to be doing well in everything else.

  • aras

DAMNIT LIN COME ON THATS THE EASIEST 3

  • CaliUSMC

Lin is not striking… but getting striked.

  • sws94

Yup, everything but the shooting. He’s moving well tonight, looks quick. But, shots aren’t falling. D looks strong.

  • aras

    Lin has gottenwide open shots…

  • CaliUSMC

    T_T .. 4-23.. 3pt fg last 5 games

  • takeme2cruz

Out of control RHJ will never change, dribble to the wall of defense by himself. What a m…n

  • Alaingrvis

atleast he is not just missing threes but everything lol

  • Steppen03

    JL7’s shooting struggle continues… Something’s fishy…

  • takeme2cruz

    ..and counting.

  • cdblue10

he just playing a mediocre basketball for the last 3 games,no need to defend him,it is what it is.

  • aras

shooting is below mediocre everything else is good

  • takeme2cruz

    out of rhythm.

  • zxcvb

Shooting slump is really bad right now. Everything else is great, but Lin needs to score.

  • guest

Every time Lin spends time on hairdo, he cant shoot…

  • Guest

    The mother of all slumps.

  • takeme2cruz

    it takes hour.

  • cdblue10

He’s not helping the team that’s about it,he’s playing against bottom feeders and he’s supposed to assert himself. If he plays bad he plays bad no reason to sugarcoat it

  • CaliUSMC

Lins defender giving him no respect.. giving him that 3 all day. Lin can’t drive pass him.

  • zxcvb

Other games I didn’t worry about Lin’s scoring. He was missing but no confidence lost.

Tonight, he looks rattled. Like he knows it won’t go in before he shoots.

  • aras

he is playing good defense facilitates well he is not hitting wide open shots

  • Steppen03

Not true. Defense is key too. You can’t get points but also make sure the opposing pg is locked down

  • Guest

Lin can’t shoot for some reason. He has to play like a Rubio or Rondo.

  • sws94

That’s not true, in terms of Lin can’t drive pass him. Lin’s been driving into the paint and feeding Lopez. the problem with Lin is his shooting, but he’s playing well today against a tough defender while playing tough D on Payton.

  • CaliUSMC

I’m okay with that.. 10+ assists is fine by me

  • zxcvb

That same ref, Eric Lewis, keeps cheating the Nets.

  • CaliUSMC

yeah off of pick and roll/screens. He cant do it in iso like he is capable of

  • cdblue10

My goodness…he plays really really bad.The bench players are the one keeping this game interesting.

  • grover chang

3 games is not that bad. That’s barely multiple games. He has worked too hard to remain in a slump. The shots will start to fall.

  • aras

and thats just not true šŸ˜‰

  • Steppen03

Never true. Lin doesn’t play bad. He’s a smart player. He’s a hard working player. Shots not falling is not playing bad unless you’re like a dummy on the court.

  • sws94

I think you’re being too hard on Lin this game. He’s playing well beyond the shooting. Most PGs use screens. Lin won’t be at his peak speed until after the off-season.

  • guest

Now Lin’s fg% is worse than Wall, smdh

  • David Kim

When lin is not good at shooting, he always score by drive in..but there is problem with Lopez setting screen..

  • cdblue10

If he plays great I’ll tell you what it is,he just doesn’t have it for the last 3 games.

  • CaliUSMC

I’m critiquing him as I would do an all-star. I believe Lin is an all-star. He’s just not performing like one.

  • Steppen03

Rubio’s shooting has been really good this season.

  • Guest

Who is guarding Lin? Why does he have trouble shooting tonight?

  • james brown

right now he’s not an all star player but just a normal one..lets wait at the 4th quarter and see if he needs to be an all star player for todays game.

  • james brown

very evident they want to win also!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Starters are playing better in the 2nd quarter.

  • james brown

spacing might be the problem for todays first half.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Who is defending Lin?

  • DX

What happened to Lin’s shooting? Really bad now. He was great after came back.

  • Guest

His 3pt shooting has been in a slump for 6 games now. As psalm pointed out, since he hurt his ankle.

  • Guest

Lin has not been able to shoot from distance since he hurt his ankle.

  • aras

you look at points i look at the overall game

  • Joe what do you know

So it seems…. hoping it’s not actually related.

  • Guest

I hope it is. To shoot so bad for no good reason is worse.

  • BbfanNets

Lin draining 3’s in warm up. But can’t hit during game. Come on Lin!

  • Lin Dunn

Rubio just shot over 30 recently.

  • Dorothy

    Lin strikes

  • sws94

Good arc on that 3 for Lin.

  • Joe what do you know

I guess he spent too much energy and breath on defending…. your shooting goes off when you’re not at peak form…

  • grover chang

I still expect a win. Lin has shot poorly in stretches throughout his career but still found ways to help his team win.

  • Pistolpete

    Take out RHJ!!!

  • CraigG

    YES!!

  • Guest

And Foye too. Then maybe we can win.

  • CraigG

    Horrible TO by RHJ

  • 808JL7

Great pass to Lopez. Yes Lin.

  • sws94

Come on, call fouls on Lin but he doesn’t get them. That was great D by Lin.

  • 808JL7

Late call refs. Lin now has 3 PF.

  • Guest

    Starting to notice?

  • sws94

I don’t know what your problem is, but chill.

  • 808JL7

    Lin out trail by 1

  • aras

Lin needs to be better in the 4Q very bland second half so far.

  • CraigG

    These refs
lets not pretend theres no race issues here
White players and asian players always get the shorter end of the stick on the fouls

  • Guest

Hamilton should have been used more and developed all season.

  • 808JL7

Only 6 more games left. Going to be a long off season for us Lin fans.

  • sws94

Nets 3Q isn’t bad, gave up the lead. Hope they play a strong 4Q and have a good lead going into the last 2 minutes. They haven’t done well lately in close games down the stretch.

  • CraigG

    Lin’s been shooting so bad
    something is wrong with him
    right now, he can’t shoot

  • Guest

What’s your problem? Don’t you know that Lin has always been treated perfectly fairly by refs, coaches, and the NBA throughout his career?

  • Steppen03

2nd unit getting it done tonight. Will the real Mr.4th Quarter please stand up….

  • CJSHYY

Once again, 2nd unit saves the game for now….

  • Guest

    Go Nets!

  • Dorothy

    booker is hot tonight

  • CJSHYY

    Booker is great tonight.

  • sws94

Player of the game. Brook has been good too, but Booker is more efficient.

  • Elon Musk

This is not MO…. Look at Booker’s possession earlier.. When he was near the post, no one was cuttin/moving. It was more of a stagnant offense when everyone just stayed outside of the arc.

  • sws94

    I’m blocking you.

  • Guest

Will KA please leave RHJ and Foye on the bench?

  • CJSHYY

But I think Nets wants Lopez & Hamilton to be the player of the game for today… Booker steals the show….lol!

  • Guest

    Good!

  • sws94

It’s a hybrid, there’s some MO, some other.

  • Elon Musk

I guess I got used to watching warriors’ MO because everyone there is constantly moving and cutting

  • Steppen03

Lin is now trailing Rondo and Rubio in shooting… But I’m not too concerned.

  • sws94

That’s an incredible offense. But the Nets are playing well offensively today, they’ve improved a lot since earlier in the season.

  • CJSHYY

Nets bench is better than Magic’s bench… Good job, Nets bench.

  • sws94

Booker is an all-star this game. Wow.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The Magic starters have to come back soon, their bench gets slaughtered.

  • CJSHYY

    Ya! Magic wants him…? lol!

  • aras

bench has been amazing this game…starters are going to ruin it

  • sws94

hope not. Keep the bench in for awhile.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

11-0 run in the beginning of 4th Q!
My heart to the Magic coach.

  • sws94

Now Dinwiddie gets a bad whistle.

  • sws94

IW is going to be a decent player with more experience.

  • aras

maybe keep the bench in whole quarter

  • kauaiblue

This seems boring even with jlin… going to game tomorrow but hope its not boring…

  • sws94

Lin and Lopez are coming in next deadball.

  • Dorothy

    Lin in

  • sws94

    Lin w. assist to Lopez.

  • kauaiblue

    7?

  • CJSHYY

    Ya!

  • Guest

You two are a classy couple.

  • kauaiblue

    Awesome!

  • sws94

Hope he can get to 10. Maybe he can get 10 points too.

  • aras

    likewise

  • CJSHYY

    I hope so….

  • sport

Wonder how Lin’s ankle is right now, 2-10 ouch. Just checked in at around 8:15 4th quarter. Saw KA looking at the clock wondering if the starters will come back in. Orlando puts in their starters around 7mins. After 2 baskets, KA finally puts in Lin and Lopez. He’s learning and trusting his starters good to see!

  • Guest

    Crap RHJ again.

  • aras

Lin has been straight up garbage finishing at the rim and shooting just flat out terrible

  • Guest

Booker has the hot hand, put him back in, nets need scoring

  • psalm234

Booker can do no wrong today. played like LeBron James with that headband =)

Good strong bench by the Nets really helped today

  • Elon Musk

    Goodwin is pretty good man

  • Kwok Wai Lai

That Archie Goodwin is a great pick up for Nets.

  • Dorothy

    Lin strikes

  • sws94

Lin got that, fantastic move to the rim and finish.

  • vincent

yeah idk why he was a beast at finshing around the rim last season.. i think he spent too much time working on his shot in the off season and not enough time working his handles and floater

  • sws94

Lazy pass by Lin there, otherwise, he’s playing well.

  • aras

    Dumb dumb pass by lin…

  • psalm234

Finally, great drive and finish by Lin that time

  • CraigG

    not shooting well either

  • sws94

psalm, this “Guest” poster is picking fights with aras and me. Please look into it. And yeah, nice finish by Lin.

  • vincent

lin is hustling very well on defense.. he just needs to really improve his handles this off season and develop a floater instead of spending all the time working on his 3 pt shot.

  • sws94

He’s scuffling with the shooting, but he’s played overall well tonight.

  • psalm234

    ok, will do. thanks
just flag it so mods can see it easily

  • sport

Lin makes a great save/steal and a basket then makes a too fancy behind the pass to Lopez and loses the ball ><" ai I'll take it.

  • sport

Smart player and meshed well with both starters and bench! Interesting to see whether he will replace Foye eventually!

  • sws94

OK. I tried to block that poster but Disqus blocking isn’t working for me right now.

  • sws94

Another assist for Lin, Lopez shoots a 3 he shouldn’t have taken so fast, but made it.

  • sws94

    30 points for Lopez.

  • aras

alright…what the h*** is wrong with lins finishing lately?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Past the 2 minute mark. REf can’t cheat too much.

  • sport

Lopez with the clutch dagger 3 again!!

  • CaliUSMC

    It’s ok. Lopez is carrying

  • sws94

I think it is something physical. But I like that Lin’s movements looking pretty good.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

As long as the clock keeps the Ref honest, Nets will win this game.

  • sws94

Lin gets good ovation, 8 points 8 assists, horrendous shooting percentage. Nets win.

  • sport

lol announcers on replay, “Lin looking for the triangle, where’s Phil?” Then Lopez makes a 3.
    Announcers: “There’s the triangle”.

  • vincent

Lin just needs to go after his own shot more.. when he drives a lot of times hes just looking to kick the ball out first rather than score first.. if you watch harden and westbrook they do distribute, but there are times when they just flat out go out and attack the rim. Lin used to do this, but recently he just stops midway and then tries to dish the ball out instead

  • CaliUSMC

Lin always gets into these deep slumps.. It’s always difficult for him to get out of it. I seriously think he needs a sports shrink. It’s all in his head..

  • vincent

it was pretty poor idk whats up with him he is officially in a slump now

  • sport

Lin didn’t shoot well but he made his mark as the leader and starting PG at the end to help seal the win with Lopez! KA is learning he has to close with Lin and Lopez no matter what! Great win!

  • CraigG

he did and missed most of them

  • Guest

Will Lin be ready to go again tomorrow?

  • sport

Those were smart plays, he got a layup to draw the defense then made kick outs. It’s fine.

  • vincent

yes but he hesitates first then attacks, it seems like his real intention is to just kick the ball out first and then score only if he sees a wide open lane.

  • zxcvb

Honestly, guys. I just looked at Lin’s game log and he’s only been shooting terrible in 2 out of his last 5. Two! Two other solid games and one sub-par one. Nothing abnormal.

It’s just frustrating because he’s FINALLY playing big minutes and he was due for a cold streak. When he was ON FIRE, he was limited to 20-24mpg. What an unlucky season for Jeremy. But the next one will be great…just a fluke injury this season.

  • sws94

I see the positives. Shooting slump, yes, but he played well in other aspects of the game. Hopefully, his ankle will feel better, or whatever it is that is contributing to the slump, and then his full game will be back.

  • zxcvb

I forgot about tomorrow. Might explain why he was “soft” tonight. Staying fresh.

  • sws94

Hopefully he gets hot the last 5 games.

  • vincent

Idk I think he has been a little gun shy this entire season when trying to attack the rim.. rewatch lin when he played for the knicks, houston and charlotte, he looked for his own shot much more when driving.

  • sws94

I agree. Sometimes kick, sometimes shoot. Keep them guessing.

  • CaliUSMC

i dont care if he’s missing 2 out of 20. I care about how it was missed. A lot of his shots are wide open…. easy lay ups. It’s all in his head

  • CJSHYY

He had bad shooting night again. smh! But no need to doubt about his starting PG position. Got this from someone… don’t know when KA said this today (I think….) Kenny couldn’t have higher praise for Lin.
    “Lin is everything to us”.

  • vincent

yes, but this entire season he has been kicking the ball way more than shooting.

  • sport

The code streak started from the ankle injury. The good side is that he finally got his speed, rim game, and mid jumpers back. Just limited without his 3s and jumping out of whack.

  • Steppen03

No matter what, I’d like JL7 to keep shooting and be aggressive. Bottom line is Team win! I’ll take Team win over Team lose (even JL7 has 25pt game)

  • zxcvb

That’s how it is for all guys. Even Curry and Harden miss bunnies…and they get every call, even fake ones.

He took 14 shots on a ice cold night. This is a very different Lin from the past.

  • sws94

aras, I agree, focus on handles, floaters. Please, avoid some words because it makes your posts inactive.

  • vincent

yes he had alot of hustle on the defensive end tonight which was great to see.. also had 8 assists. it just must be frustrating for him since he missed like 2/3 of the season and now he isn’t playing anywhere near his best offensively

  • sws94

Yes, it’s frustrating. But, you know, he has these shooting slumps. I just hope it doesn’t last too much longer.

  • CaliUSMC

    Yup, I’ll take the W

  • sport

Wow didn’t even notice, yup Lin is play like he’s the starting PG, taking an average of 15 shots per game is what all starting PG does! Of course we all know many like Harden, Walker, etc can take 30 shots without any consequence. Lin doesn’t have that luxury nor wants to be a shot chucker.

  • Guest

If you look at his 3 pt shooting it’s been 6 games. He’s not finishing well either. Could be his ankle.

  • psalm234

    0 FTs from Lin today.

This was an unusual game for Lin. When he doesn’t shoot well, he usually gets pts off drives and fouls but he didn’t get much today.

Some are refs’ no-call (that Kenny helped by arguing with refs), some could be the Magic’s length. But he tried his best with defense, hustle, and assists.

8pts/8asts/4rebs/2stls/1blk/2tos and 4pfs. He can fill up the stat box for sure showing his contribution to the game.

No biggie, he just needs to keep shooting and stay aggressive. Next one will fall.

  • CaliUSMC

    Very true.

  • sws94

I remember him doing it last season too, except in the playoffs where he was finishing. Does it tend to happen in cold-shooting games?

  • HVJoy

Sure! It is a team sport and Lin is the team captain!

  • zxcvb

I think that’s just mental/confidence. He’s in a slump and his follow-through is not right. Almost always on-line but too long/short. If he played 72+ games w/ 30mpg, this would be nothing. But since he’s been injured all year playing 23mpg, every 1-2 game slump looks huge.

  • vincent

yeah very true.. lin desperately needs to use his floater in games like tonight.

  • CJSHYY

I think today Lin’s job it’s to make birthday boy to be the star for this game. I found out Lin didn’t drive as much as before maybe bc he wanted to avoid injury…

  • sws94

0 FTs is very unusual. I don’t think the refs were fair, I think they called too many fouls on him, yet he only drew I think one non-shooting foul.

  • zxcvb

That ref, Eric Lewis, he was BRUTAL. He had a vendetta. I’ve never seen a ref get so mad at a coach for standing up for his player. Especially when that player crashes hard to the ground and is known league-wide for being cheated on calls.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The bench made an 11-0 run as soon as the 4th Q begins and the Magic lost by 10 points.

  • sport

Agreed no worries, he contributed to seal the game at the end when subbed in with Lopez. They are finally treated well. Noticed how KA finally allowed PnR and screens with Lopez today after that ugly loss last game with zero PnR and screens. Just hope KA learns faster as a coach.

Lopez making 3s is fine but he needs to balance out with PnR and Post ups. When KA does that they will win even with a struggling Lin like today!

  • HVJoy

It is indeed unusual that Lin has NO free throws at all.

  • sws94

I think he tried 2 and they didn’t fall.

  • vincent

he did do it last season, but not nearly as much.. remember lin was a sg last season so it was his job to score the ball and distribute the ball a lot less.. however, I think even as a pg he should try and finish a bit more at the rim because all the best pgs in this league shoot the ball a lot.

  • Guest

Replacing RHJ with Booker in the starting lineup would help Lin immensely. Hamilton should also have been developed into a serviceable backup center.

  • Dorothy

Someone needs to follow this ref and make a video of him

  • aras

yeah sorry i write what i feel it’s frustrating seeing him miss that many good looks. like when he does a nice crossover and just needs to finish around the rim but doesnt…it’s rough to watch at times.

  • Alaingrvis

sucks Lin stats never reflect how good he is This poor stretch in a short season is killing his stats.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

But the bench will flop without Booker.

  • psalm234

maybe next season, he can work more on the floaters.
last 2 seasons have been to get the muscle memory down for the new 3pt shooting.

It’s hard to change shooting mechanics, it will take 3-4 seasons at the very least to be consistent.

  • vincent

oh i missed them.. well that is definitely something lin needs to work on this off season. watch curry play, tp and cp3 in their primes, they would make multiple floaters each game.

  • sport

Good! KA needs to continue standing up for Lin and yelling at those refs. We know it falls to death ears but they need to get an ear full!

  • Guest

    Hope you’re right.

  • CaliUSMC

His #’s are pretty much done for… unless he goes 20pts for the next 5.

  • zxcvb

There are a lot of older refs that are pure corrupt. Either through racial bias, gambling, or laziness. They know their job is safe no matter what and will get away with anything.

I’ve noticed that younger refs tend to treat Lin a LOT more fairly.

  • sport

Still need to work on his floaters and 3s. Even when healthy, like what KA said he hesitate too much when taking 3s. Lin’s improved and shot more this season but still not there yet. He’s still more confident driving and hitting mid jumpers than hitting his 3s when healthy.

  • psalm234

hm, maybe there was a history there?

But glad to see Kenny passionately argued against the non-call.
I really thought it would help the refs gave more calls later but it didn’t happen

  • vincent

I hope lin can get his point average over 14 for the season, but it seems doubtful right now given his shooting slump ;/ good thing with lin is he is known for having incredible games following his shooting slumps so there is still hope..

  • Alaingrvis

He will shoot better. This is just the law of averages but it will seem worse in a short season

  • Dorothy

it seems like he always looking great after a looong rest either summer or injury and we all got excited he finally fixed his shooting, several weeks later, it goes downhill

  • Guest

You rather see Lin struggle and run himself ragged on D trying to compensate for RHJ as power forward?

  • sport

Ankle injury, nothing out of the blue. Nets are still winning so it’s fine.

  • CaliUSMC

I was expecting 17/7 since he came back.. but now I’m hoping atleast 14/5 lol

  • zxcvb

After Tim Donaghy’s revelations, I might just chalk it up to $$$. Nets not covering the spread, not losing like they’re “supposed to.” Or standard racial bias.

But at the very least, we finally have a coach standing up for Lin!

  • vincent

this happened in his second year in houston.. he was shooting the ball so well in the first month or so avging like 15 ppg coming off the bench then he got injured by milsap and then his shooting went wayyy down and only finished the season avging 12 a game

  • sport

Older refs are more bias no doubt. That’s how society improves, old conservatives going away and youngsters with a more open mind replaces them!

  • CJSHYY

Calm down, see what Lin said about his poor shooting game…. If he’s not worry ….we don’t need to bc every player has that ….

  • guest

Lots of excuses for Lin’s poor shooting here!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Starters like Brook and Lin has to put up with younger players like LeVert and RHJ.

  • vincent

lol lets hope he has a 70 pt game like booker lol

  • Guest

    Get lost.

  • vincent

    get out of here

  • Alaingrvis

im not worried. Game tomorrow. Just was hoping for 14 ppg. Thats pretty much done.

  • Steppen03

I’m not worried about his shooting slump. He’s getting his chances no matter what.

  • guest

Other PGs shoot well when play against the Magic. Lin struggles..
Never trust his shooting form and his shooting coach. NEVER HAVE.

  • CJSHYY

Right now Lin took about 14 shots per game that’s good even I wish he can take more… lol!

  • CaliUSMC

I’ll run around my block.. naked !

  • sport

Yup!, Getting subbed in at the right time, KA improving and adjusting his coaching. Lets see what happens next game and enjoy the few games left.

  • Alaingrvis

had nothing to do with the defense. Just the normal shooting slump

  • guest

    yeah, block me.

  • CaliUSMC

    It’s really strange..

  • Dorothy

    Mod: Troll alert!!!

  • CJSHYY

Well, Lin is not shooting well for the past few games… not just vs Magic… no big deal. Tomorrow they have another game. Fans always forget about it …. If he has great game tomorrow then who still remember he’s 3-14??? lol!

  • CraigG

nope, hes shooting bad he needs to work on it and take less shots until his shooting improves

  • Elon Musk

I mean even steph curry went thru a stretch of shooting slump. It happens to every player. I wouldn’t worry about it.

  • kauaiblue

Anyone know what nets record is with and without jlin now?

  • CJSHYY

Me too. Season almost end now…no big deal.

  • CaliUSMC

He’s a bad example.. he’s still shooting 45/40/90 lol.. but yeah not up to his standards

  • Dorothy

understood, but this happens to Lin a little too often šŸ™

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This game McDaniels’ minutes are given to Archie Goodwin and he played well.
Nets is having lots of young players at 22: Goodwin, RHJ, Isaiah Whitehead, LeVert.
Spencer Dinwiddie at 23, KJ McDaniels at 24..

  • CaliUSMC

I think he just stays up late and plays computer games.. thats why he’s always tired. Thats my theory lol

  • psalm234

thanks, his posts were only to mock Lin so he’s banned now

  • vincent

true, but even during curry’s shooting slumps he still averaged over 20 a game

  • sws94

Yes. Injuries unfortunately hurt Lin’s shooting production. Hopefully, Lin can have a relatively injury free season next season. Then his production will be more consistent. I really believe so.

  • Dorothy

True, but I feel they are fighting and trying their best when they are under 10-day contract, once signed they do not play as well.

  • sws94

Yeah, I was thinking of the time when he ran the bench for a few minutes at PG. At SG, he put up the shots, made them or got fouled a lot. I don’t think Lin likes to shoot too much unless the first few shots go in.

  • Lefon Jang

Curry gets way more touches than Lin.

  • sws94

    Frustrating indeed.

  • Dorothy

lol, I hope that is the case, but I think he has more self-control now

  • psalm234

    no worries =)

my theory is he just need floaters and the steadying presence of good GF/wife LOL Sometimes he just put so much expectations on himself so he needs a calming effect.

Steal SCurry’s move. Find his own Ayesha, do some cooking shows hehe

  • CJSHYY

    Just like Booker…. lol!

  • sws94

I think it was the last day of his 10 day, so they have to make a decision. I say keep him, he looks good.

  • CaliUSMC

So the secret is getting Lin a girl?? Will that unlock linsanity?

  • casual bb fan

Lol. But It’s difficult to get one to his mom’s specifications. Haha cheers

  • sws94

Lin says in post game bench was tremendous, everyone was. Said his shooting sucked but there’s another game tomorrow. Says he looks to Brook both inside and outside, tough matchup for opponents. Said ball movement and playoff movement was good. Said, if he shoots better and if the team hits more 3s, opens up driving games. Said he’ll get out of his shooting slump. Sounded positive.,

  • Dorothy

do we know mama Lin’s requirements lol?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

No doubt they would keep him. He doesn’t do anything to lose his 15th spot.
    Plus he’s only 22.

  • Dorothy

We are playing against Hawks again tomorrow? Didn’t we just play them?

  • Guest

High IQ, 7 foot tall, big boobs.

  • HVJoy

Lin had a tough shooting night. There is no need for “excuses” as someone posted below. Players are human and there will be so-so performance at times. Captain Lin manages to guide the team to victory. That is what matters!

Even Lebron James had a few “20% from 3-point range” games! http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lebron-james-is-tinkering-with-his-shot-during-shooting-slump/

  • Dorothy

LOL, I say Christian and kind

  • sws94

    Maybe a week ago, yes.

  • CaliUSMC

Um Lebron’s FT and 3PT is on a steeeeep decline this season. But his 3pt slump isn’t a “technique or mental issue” like LIns.. Lebrons issue is wear and tear… He plays too many mins and does so much for that team. Can’t shoot 3’s with dead legs.. but his FT’s on the other hand…

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This time, D12 is coming back again for blood!

  • HVJoy

I don’t know how you diagnose “technique or mental issue” as Lins issue. I disagree. My hat’s off to you IF you are a basketball professional.

As for the article, the title is “LeBron James is tinkering with his shot during shooting slump”. It is apparently about his shooting form and “technique”.

  • casual bb fan

Lol. Knowing how to cook like mama Lin and boil his favourite soup. Haha cheers

  • Dorothy

Lin seldom does well b2b, well…

  • CaliUSMC

Well why do you think it is? Don’t really have to be a basketball professional to realize that he’s pretty much carrying his team. The article also doesn’t mention him averaging almost 38mins/game this season and on track to play 75 games… averaging close to a triple double. His form and technique is due to wear and tear. For you to pull out some Lebron stat out of context and compare him to Lins slump is pretty ambitious.

  • Dorothy

That article was written Nov 13 2015, so season just started, Lin’s is different…

  • CaliUSMC

    Lol didn’t even realize ha

  • casual bb fan

Great observation. That’s what players development is all about for a start-up team. Haha cheers

  • sws94

The thing is, Atlanta is looking to win. They are falling down in the playoffs standing. Nets will have to really play hard to win. For Lin, Schroeder is playing well, but both teams will be playing B2B tomorrow.

  • psalm234

    That will unleash Linfinity-Linsanity lol

  • Guest

But very recently it was pointed out that LeBron was 1/20 from 3.

  • psalm234

it will be easier if it’s mom’s approved for sure hehe

  • HVJoy

Are you the poster “guest” who was just banned? My post was in response to his accusation that we are making excuses for Lin.

I do not attempt to diagnose a NBA pro’s “shooting slump” not only because I am not a BB pro but also because I do not have any personal knowledge of him, his health, or the team’s demand of him.

You are entitled to your opinion about Lebron. You sound like a real fan of his. But to attribute “technique and mental issue” to Lin’s performance, but exclude them for Lebron, seems unfair and biased.

  • CJSHYY

Thanks. I don’t think he’s worry at all. So we should not….

  • Lefon Jang

There’s some relevancy there. A slump is a slump whether you’re a Lebron or a Jeremy. In Lin’s case it’s too soon to tell if he’s in a slump. It could be that he’s not getting the ball in a sweet spot or the pass wasn’t on the money. A little tweet here and there is all he needs maybe.

  • vincent

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql995fw1bJ0 guys for the record lin can make floaters.. he just needs to practice them again

  • HVJoy
  • Joe what do you know

Can probably draw some relations to the release dates of new games…. so I guess something really fun was just released a week or two ago…

  • HVJoy
  • HVJoy
  • HVJoy

There are only 6 regular games remaining. šŸ™
    Will Lin play in all?

    https://twitter.com/YESNetwork/status/848329867003400192

  • CaliUSMC

I don’t know what you and “guest” have been arguing about, but No. I’ve been on this forum since its genesis and don’t give any troll– the time or day.

I’m a fan of Lebron and Lin. But Lin by far is my favorite player. I also dont think its fair for you to stat pick Lebron and compare Lin within a vacuum. They are both under total different circumstances- and it’s unfair to to even compare

  • CaliUSMC

Once a gamer.. always a gamer.
I know Gordon Hayward is hardcore MOBA player so he probably suffers as well lol

  • grover chang

I think he hit a wall. Did not play for a long time, then came back and is now getting tired. Happens to most players before all star game. Starting now for Lin because his timetable shifted secondary to injury. Once his body is use to it the season will be over.

  • HVJoy

Let me make it clear for you, dear fellow Lin fan.

My first post was NOT to compare the 2 players who have drastically different family background, education and career path. Lebron James is an example that all players, “super star” or not, may have period of “shooting slump”.

I agree with Lefon Jang above that “in Lin’s case it’s too soon to tell if he’s in a slump.”

  • CaliUSMC

Well you’re right about that Lin fan.

  • BobbyH

I now pronounce that It is the hair, haha.

If you do a correlation with type of hair Lin had with his bad shooting games, you will probably find the culprit.

  • vincent

yes, atkinson stated that he is looking to continue to build the chemistry with the remaining games as he wants to end on a high note heading into the off season

  • Steppen03

We need the long spikes hair back – to give him more FTs.

  • sws94

I don’t like the slow starts for the starters. Lin and Brook have to figure out how to get off to faster starts. Lin and Brook were -11, all of the bench was + today. I want to see stronger starts.

Today Payton had a triple double. It’s misleading because he didn’t score that well off of Lin, he did play 7 minutes more than Lin. So, if you go by stats, it looks like Payton held Lin to bad shooting and had 20/11/11 off of Lin. But it really wasn’t like that.

  • CJSHYY

But thanks God, Magic lose so Payton’s tri double means nothing after all…. Ya! I agree w you on slow starts from starters…. right now it seemed to be Nets bench saved the game for starters….not good.

  • Steppen03

Shooting: 40% slump / 60% not polished. Can’t wait for the days where he’ll be shooting like 60% Fg/40% 3-pt.

  • sws94

Yes, some games bench is playing stronger than the starters. Maybe even most of the games lately.

  • CJSHYY

In the past few games bench saved the game for Nets. In today’s game, only Lopez got double digit from starting lineup…. that just tell you something wrong w this lineup….

  • sws94

I think so, the flow isn’t quite right. The bench flows better. CLV has hit a rookie wall, in a way. He’s not bad, but he’s not playing as well as he was weeks ago. RHJ still plays strange. Lin tries to get Lopez going and Lin’s shot is not falling. Of course, Foye is a weak link and hasn’t played very well either. I wish the team had Harris or someone who shoots well starting.

  • CJSHYY

Lin’s family members are in NY w him now. Just got the line from him. I think he will have good game tomorrow. šŸ™‚

  • Acbc

I think you stats the other day showed what a huge difference Lin makes on defence for the Nets. Like I’ve been saying, there’s a price to pay when you expend so much energy on Defence. That’s why we need a shot blocker and tough rebounder to solidify the interior. Lin then can work in conjunction with the bigs instead of trying so hard to make actual stops. Basically Lin does suicides on defence trying to prop up the middle and doubling on the bigs. That block he made on Crowder comes from his sagging in to help the interior defence. When opportunity Nets inevitably kick it out, Lin hustles like mad to close. It takes a lot to play tough D. Lin’s inured, recovering and rehabbing all at once while playing hard. It’s no wonder he doesn’t have the legs or speed for offence.

  • Acbc

The fact that a lot of these youngster has had time playing against starters and heavy minutes means they’ve already played against the best. When they play against other team’s bench, they are laughing at how much easier it is.

This why Lin’s return means so much to the Nets. When I used to play inter club tennis. Our top guys weren’t nearly as strong as opponents. I had to take it for the team by absorbing the loss with weaker partners in order for the second court to win their 2 points. That’s why Lin makes such a huge difference without even scoring too much. That’s why LeBron made such a huge difference to Cavs. Sure he’s one guys, but his presence pushes stronger guys down to play against weaker opponents. Meanwhile opponents must put their best against you. That player matching is why one strong player elevates everyone else.

  • Acbc

I like the guys Marks has brought in….but I worry that they are straying from building carefully from within their mandate to build culture. The rumours of more guys coming in makes everyone uneasy and selfish to try to secure they own jobs. Marks is also a rookie GM so let’s hope he doesn’t get too seduced by the glitzy Morey style of revolving door of people.

  • sws94

Very good point. I think he’s trying to build depth, and have capable backups in case of major injuries, but you have to be careful about how you go about it. I think Marks is a bright guy, he’ll make mistakes but hopefully he’ll get more right than wrong.

  • sws94

I have an OT question about tennis. I’m not sure how much women’s tennis you watch but if you do I have the following question: How is Serena Williams so dominant at age, what, 35 now? Is it competition in her era, her physical strength, aspects of her game she’s adjusted?

  • Joe what do you know

I would say the combination of all you have mentioned. But I think it is coming to the end of her domination. She’s too big and her ankles obviously couldn’t take too much more abuse. You can see that she’s often struggling to manoeuvre her big body around the court these days. Though her competitions still have a fair way to go to in terms of experience and consistency.

  • Acbc

    And way better picks.

  • LinH2O

I have been a JLin fan since 2012 and I will continue to support him. My admiration and loyalty does not change the pragmatic nature of his lack of confidence which lead to inconsistent play from time to time. After six years of NBA, I don’t project much change for his future play. Lin will remain an average player among many freakish and extremely confident athletes.

  • Acbc

Serena is a beast the way LeBron is a freak of nature. Her athleticism is what’s carried her for a long time. The one technical strength she has is her serve. That stroke has won her so many matches because she can dominate with it on her serve and when she’s retuning she uses her court coverage to negate almost all ladies weapons. Her only real weakness is her ego and her choking. There was a time when she would win a major like the Australian open every other year. It appear as if she couldn’t handle the pressure to repeat.

The ladies in this generation is very weak, kind of like when Hingis won her majors before the arrival of Venus and Serena….or what used to be known as “big babe tennis”.

I like Venus but not Serena. I used to root for her until she went hollywood and got caught up with her own fame. She could have been the greatest of all time by a mile like how federer separates himself from the rest. She lost quite few years when she got lazy and fat and totally disrespected her opponents. I went to semi finals of a second tier event that she tanked. She disrespected the fans that paid big bucks to watch her play. I left after one set to watch other players practicing instead.

  • sws94

    Thanks.

  • sport

Booker never played well at the start, some fake hustling that’s about it. After getting moved back to bench where he’s suppose to be, Booker has played much better.

  • sport

Curry also has faster release, better shooting form, handles and dribbling skills.

  • Vintage

Anyone ever call your team out for stacking? :p

  • CraigG

thats probably some sort of NBA record
    I’d be happy with 45% FG 39% 3-pt

Maybe I’m foolish, maybe I’m blind
Thinking I can see through this

  • Dan cohen

    HAHAHAHA

how’s that for a ‘lin’ song for those that ‘blaming on’ him. Which include me

I change the ‘I’ to ‘Lin’

  • Acbc

It was doubles so I was still the best player. I just took one of the weak teammates as a partner leaving the second court with 2 strong players.

  • HVJoy
  • BobbyH

    Gush, that’s so deep. Haha.

  • Acbc

When you look at Federer in comparison and how hard he works at his fitness and stroke mechanics….at his age lol wow; you can’t escape the easy comparison. Serena plays for the fame and glory while Federer plays for the love of the game. I don’t see him stopping anytime soon because theirs still joy in his game.

I think the real motivation to play is gone now for Serena, just as she did earlier in her career. She has lost interest again because her ego has nothing else to prove.

  • Acbc

It’s amazing Lin can play as well as he does with all the media and fans looking over his shoulder. Lol

  • Kwok Wai Lai

When the game had 3:19 left, Lin made a heck of steal by intercepting a cross court pass. The score was 114:104

  • KL

Honestly I don’t see what the big fuss is about Lin’s shooting slump. He’s had them before. I am not making excuses for Lin but at least now his starting spot is secure even when he is shooting badly.

  • sws94

I agree, not that concerned. Lin provided the structure for last night’s win, had a good amount of assists, not many TOs, played hard. Not finishing at the rim looks like it is due to not fully recovering from the hamstring injury. He’ll be fine, his shots will fall before the season ends.

Because Westbrook is waiting in the paint for rebounds, he ranks near dead last in contesting 3pters on defense. Only Gobert and Whiteside (all centers) contested less 3pters this season.

Anyone out there knows about the Spurs’ double stack screen off of strong ( as coach Daniel talks about )? I can’t say I’ve seen the Nets run this, even the Hornets did it sometimes. What I see lot is a version of the “Spain” PNR but with no secondary screen for roll man. Lopez just rolls back to the 3 line instead. I’m really curious if anyone else has seen any of the standard MO sets run at all.
