Will Lin play or continue to rest?

He’s available and Pete Guelli tweet invited Hornets fans to come watch Batum, Lin, Hawes and others as if JLin will play.
If yes, it would be great to see JLin in action again developing more chemistry with his teammates.

If JLin plays, let’s hope we continue to see Kemba/Lin/Batum lineup no matter if they start together or not since these playmakers would be sorely needed to close out big games

    • JLin Fan from Australia

Morning everyone. Glad to see that JLin will play. Good that I can watch it:-)

    • Alain Gervais

What time is it where you are?

    • Lx

Hornets winning streak is going to last for a long time. Hopefully I didn’t jinx them.

    • Alain Gervais

thats going to be the starters for the first game

    • JLin Fan from Australia

5:24am. Thought the game was yesterday which I couldn’t watch:-( Glad that I put the date wrong. Game is today and I can watch:-)

    • JW

It sucks as a Lin fan wanting Lin to start, but that’s a fairly solid lineup for Hornets.

    • Alain Gervais

Wow cool. I couldn’t wake up that early. Your very dedicated. I did wake up at 8:00 am for the china game. If it was 5:00 am i would just stay up lol.

    • CJSHYY

I thought coach will put Zeller w Lin in 2nd unit?

    • Alain Gervais

It lacks offense but thats where lin comes in. He gets 15 minutes with the bench being the main guy. Him and zeller already a PNR duo lol. Best lineup for hornets.

    • Alain Gervais

now Hanbarough gets to play with Hawes. When lin plays with the first unit his top PNR man will be waiting

    • wandertheglobe

I guess Coach Cliff wants to spread the wealth and have Lin play with the 2nd unit. This is not because of Lin’s not able to play the 2, he showed that he’s more than capable. But, I think coach wants to have a 1-2 punch for his team. Hornets will be good this year, no question about it.

    • CJSHYY

I want Lin to start but as PG. If you look at vs Clippers in Shanghai, Lin didn’t touch the ball that much to create … just a pure CnS shooter. Don’t think he likes the role.

    • CJSHYY

Coach said it few times already… best five doesn’t need to be starting 5… I think it’s good for Lin to lead 2nd unit as PG.

    • CJSHYY

Hanbarough is good but Zeller is the one from the team knows Lin’s game the best…

    • JW

With Hornets doing so well, there wasn’t a chance for Lin to come back to play PG. There was no need so might as well let the undecided play.

    • Alain Gervais

Exactly he will play or the idea is he will be in there with Lin , Kemba, Lamb, and Al to finish games…..Hopefully.

    • TTNN

Somehow coach just love Marvin. 😉

I think he really want to test out that huge size line up, last game was not really good, but that’s a bit different from anticipated, as one should assume they should have good defense at least.

I think against Bull would be a good test, to see whether they could really defend by length.

    • CJSHYY

Lin said in his interview in Shanghai, w 1st unit, he has to behind Al, Kemba & less change to touch the ball…. (Just like Lance last season…) He wants to play his game that’s why he came here but not as a pure shooter only.

    • Alain Gervais

The starters as a unit is bad spacing so i bet its the same but having lin will change the pace. It will likely be Al centric.

    • CJSHYY

I think Lin will bc coach wants to win & he needs Lin.

    • TTNN

I think Hawes is another good player to pair up with Lin, he is smart and get to position like Zeller, and he catch everything Lin passed. He would not be able to run the floor the same way as Zeller did, but he set good screens for Lin.

I like Hansbrough too, he set mean screens, catch everything Lin pass, and finish strong, though he might not be able to finish everything, but compare to Asik, I’m not really complaining. And he don’t do fancy stuff. He not cut as nicely as Zeller, but he kind of roll really hard.

    • JW

Interview Steve Martin, radio announcer. Discussed Lin. Positive comments.

      new rule? lol

    • JLin Fan from Australia

Summer is around the corner. I tend to wake up pretty early in the summer. The game won’t begin until 9am here. Brissie doesn’t have daylight saving. My body tends to follow when the sun rises. Hence I always wake up early this day. Very annoying. Was so exhausted that I went to sleep pretty early last night.

    • TTNN

I don’t like they have 4 old Hornets there and very easy to go back to their old playing style. In preseason games, both Kemba and AI had not really trying to take things over yet, but once the regular season start, both of them might get to their usual habit to try to get things going their way, I don’t think Batum is a strong enough leader to change that.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin won’t start tonight and possibility season opener. Clifford has said their backup was so bad against the Knicks backup without Lin. So there you go, Lin will play a lot with both units but he will not start especially they already have Walker and Batum as ball handlers. My fingers crossed, Lin will close with starters in every game. The only way to win.

    • Rick Johnson

Yes, that’s how I feel I want Lin to start as PG and that’s where the team would most benefit from him. JLin can play the SG but that is not optimal and in China we saw how he can get into early foul trouble (i know small sample size) but I can imagine him guarding Harden who is like a foul magnet and getting taken out of the game for foul trouble. Perhaps he can play PG with the second unit and then play SG with the first unit in spells and especially in the 4th where he’s less likely going to have foul trouble.

    • Alain Gervais

      my worries as well

    • CJSHYY

I think 1st unit will play more ISO for sure.. I am more interesting to know what Lin’s unit will do….

    • pandaboy99

Batum, Al and lin all need their touches. lin will get the most stats second unit and will finish games with williams sitting. Im pretty sure this is what clifford thinks also.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

then KHuang is going to be right, the second unit will out play the first.

    • Alain Gervais

      summer in december???

    • zxcvb

He’ll probably begin as super 6th man. And that’s fine…I still have some doubts that Al and Kemba will share once the season is underway (Al is in a contract year, Kemba is historically a chucker).

But the Hornets’ starters are going to be smashed by every quality team…at which point I expect Lin to start. Let’s see where we are at Game 10. Even off the bench, Lin can average 16/5 on this team, with this coach.

    • GoodDayLA

I dont blame Clifford. I persobally think he wanted to start Lin or even Lamb but was told he could not start Lin so Clifford gave up in order not to draw the ire of management.

You dont say you want Jimmy Butler to emerge on your team to fill MkG starting spot and then start old man Marvin.

I believe Jordan said no to starting Lin and Clifford must comply.

    • KHuang

Umm, you meant Jeremy Lin and not Jimmy Butler right?

Because the way this game is gonna go, Jimmy Butler will have no trouble scoring against Batum but will have serious trouble trying to score against the NBA’s best defensive guard in Lin.

    • steven ko

check out these VERY knowledgeable clowns on ESPN radio starting at 9:07 on JLin:

      http://espn.go.com/espnradio/losangeles/play?id=13923595

    • zxcvb

While it’s hard to speculate…I suspect something similar. The Hornets signed Kemba to a 4yr extension and Big Al was MJ’s big signing a couple years ago. Until they fail to deliver this season, they are the “incumbents.”

Of course, that all changes if the Hornets are losing lots of winnable games while Lin beasts with the 2nd unit. Clifford has said that nothing is set in stone and they’ll find the best fit.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin not starting has to do with politics. Zeller will start at PF

    • KHuang

Lin will be on the court when the game’s outcome needs to be decided.

If he’s sitting at the end of a game, that is a good thing because the Hornets will then have secured the win due to Lin getting them there.

    • KHuang

I’d rather Lin have the much more talented 2nd team during crunchtime than the slow plodding underwhelming 1st unit!

    • Alain Gervais

The last few games with lin at sg he had low assist. He wasn’t getting everyone shots as much. In regular season if lin is just shooting and not getting people open shots as well its just like lakers last year after the allstar game where he shoots well but we loose by a lot. He has to play PG to have a big impact.

    • KHuang

Depends on how you look at it.

On this Charlotte team, one can make a very strong argument that the most productive players are now all bunched up on the bench!

    • Alain Gervais

      is it bad or good?

    • Steve Martin from Hornets Radio: “Jeremy Lin will lead the way with 3pt shooting mentality where Hornets want to go” [Starting at 2:13]

He’s very observant of JLin’s contribution to the new Hornets style.

    • Linja

Is there any streaming online to watch the Hornets-Bulls game? LP is covering other game.

    • GoodDayLA

No i meant butler. Listen to cliffford post practice clips

    • KHuang

Oh, LET the starters play their customary slowball iso game.

      I’m all for it.

Then we’ll see how Clifford artificially generates more minutes for his fabulous bench players!

    • Alain Gervais

Stop with this conspiracy stuff. last year it was kobe and bs against lin. The year before daryl more and harden. Now this. Like just stop.

    • zxcvb

Very poor spacing. No dribble-penetration and only one good 3pt shooter in Batum.

    • KHuang

Well, Butler’s going to have to go against Lin anyway.

The Chicago go to guy will go against Charlotte’s go to guy.

    • GoodDayLA

I dont think u heard the clip or if u did, u are talkingabout something else alrogether

    • zxcvb

His shooting has improved so much, I actually think he can play SG just as well. Heck, he could have in Houston if Harden weren’t such a ballhog. Lawson has looked invisible next to Harden so far.

    • GoodDayLA

Daryl morey is against lin. So was Bs. When did truth become conspiracy?

    • steven ko

Check it out Alain and decide for yourself. You’ll at least find it amusing…

    • CJSHYY

I think LP do have this game on today.

    • They believe JLin is an extremely solid backup PG who’s been playing well in the Hornets (6th-7th option in a team)

So yeah, worth skipping 🙂 They’re just talking to pass time

    • Rick Johnson

At least Clifford is trying to win. With Lakers starters would get in a hole. JLin and 2nd unit will fight to get them back in the game then when they tie it up BScott would put the starters back in and lose the game. But we knew he was trying to tank. When the same happens with the Hornets Clifford will try to win and keep Lin in.

    • GoodDayLA

He is a backup. Thats the reality. Premier talent saddled as a backup

    • KHuang

Actually, GoodDayLa may have hit closer to the truth than people think.

While I have no doubt that Michael Jordan HAS NOT instructed Clifford to bench Lin, there could be potential internal chemistry problems if Lin is started over a higher paid player.

What I’m seeing is a cunning way for Clifford to play his crowded and supertalented bench in a mildly tolerable way that doesn’t completely upset everybody and yet maximizes everybody’s production and minimizes everybody’s weaknesses.

    • Rick Johnson

It’s listed in the LP app as going to be available and also on my cable listing guide so should be.

    • KHuang

      It doesn’t matter.

The way you worded it IS how Butler would TORCH the Hornets if Lin’s not given a chance to impede him.

    • Alain Gervais

lin has 1 year will play “HIS” style. Play well sign long term deal. Lin was brought in to be backup PG was he not. Now your angry he is not the back up pg.

    • Alain Gervais

Agreed. i like your explanation much better. I understand politics all too well.

    • Alain Gervais

He could but his impact would be held back. Like harden in OKC.

    • KHuang

      I don’t entirely agree.

On this Charlotte team which is filled with players outside of Walker who can shoot accurately but cannot create for themselves, Lin’s ability to move off the ball as a quality 2 guard is really important especially to the stationary starting unit.

Now when it’s Lin with Lamb, Lamb plays the 2 and spaces the court with his cuts and scoring. But Lamb is not quite ready yet to be a primetime scorer who can initiate plays on his own.

In both cases, I’m not particularly concerned with Lin’s assists. I’m more interested in how Lin spaces the court so that the TEAM can score well.

It is the tale of two wildly different teams with Jeremy Lin!

    • CJSHYY

I do believe coach wants to start Lin … but if Lin wants to play his game w team ball, 2nd unit is the place to stay. I don’t think top will do anything to stop Lin to be a starter for this team bc they saw how good he’s & they want to win.

    • as long as JLin believes he’s a starter in the future, that’s what is most important.
people will talk of what’s currently hot, that’s the reality in the bit news nowadays

Some other ESPN reporter also thinks Kemba is a backup.
Just a matter of opinions for now. I’ll just ignore them

Their jobs are to generate controversies before NBA season begins so yeah…

    • Alain Gervais

Its the reality at the moment but reality changes all the time I.E lin before linsanity.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Thanks, save my 30 sec.

    • Alain Gervais

Ive heard that quite a bit.

    • GoodDayLA

Well we both know this is the band aid method. Steve Kerr was able to bench 2 former all stars to the point Lee didnt even play until the finals again.

U already recognize yourself that for the team to get max output, Lin should start at the 2.

So this band aid method Clifford is employing reminds me too much of what the Lakers tried last season with team A and team B and failed to do in part due to injury.

Injuries will hit this hornets team too. If kemba gets hurt and they start Roberts over Lin, I will lmfao.

    • Alain Gervais

I agree but those 15 minutes a game with the back ups where lins running the show will be fun.

    • PPP

      Thanks 🙂

    • zxcvb

Also, Kerr lucked out with David Lee. He started the season injured so Kerr had an excuse to keep benching him to “not upset the rhythm” of the team.

If David Lee were 100% healthy, I don’t think he could have benched him for Green. Lee was a big contract and front office favorite on a personal level.

    • Alain Gervais

No I’ve decided to ignore the media until lin proves he is a superstar. Wont be long now.

    • zxcvb

Good to have a reasonable TV crew.

    • Alain Gervais

Whats interesting is i think before this year Lin and Kemba skill wise was close but lins improvement this year has taken him way way past Kemba. It will show in this years stats

    • CJSHYY

I sure hope Lin can show his good stats this year. W his team ball theory, ” no one cares about who take the shot…” I don’t expect big number but solid.

    • TTNN

yeah, you have to let the game play out first…..

    • Rick Johnson

Hmmm, I thought Roberts was questionable?

      https://twitter.com/hornets/status/656218066238492672

    • Spot

Sorry Coach Cliff, no Lin no win.

You can win in preseason but when game will matter Charlotte cannot start with that lineup.

Kemba is neither a good facilitator nor a gifted PG like Curry or Westbrook or Harden who can score with ease.

Batum is a SF. He cannot defend player smaller and quicker and other things KHuang already wrote.

      Marvin Williams… Oh, c’mon!

2nd unit will start in a bad situation with lots of points behind. If this is the lineup for first games my prediction is 0-4 with Clifford risking the job.

    • Alain Gervais

What ever it is kemb stats will be worse. I think its w=for the better of the team

    • Spot

Kemba is good. But, like whole Hornets team, needs Jeremy Lin

    • CJSHYY

I think when season starts, Kemba & Al will both do more ISO. He will try to keep his stats like last season.

    • Rick Johnson

Season is long. Many things can change. So few teams starting day starting lineups stay that way the whole season.

    • Alain Gervais

curry is not really a good passer but his threes gets people wide open.

    • Alain Gervais

He will be less efficient. We will lose more

    • Rick Johnson
    • JW
    • your son’s voltaire

it’s pretty sad that Clifford doesn’t take the positives from the preseason and run with it. Lin/Zeller (ZIN) is something special and needs to be exploited more. Batum is no SG as u say. he can’t dribble penetrate and doesn’t really create for others. but Batum/Lin/Kemba would be so unpredictable. Lamb should be behind Roberts, not as the first one off the bench. Hawes is a good passing big man and adds another dimension to the Lin/Zeller pnr

    • Alain Gervais

he is but i think lins improvement make him way better at the moment to kemba

    • Spot

If Kemba could score like Curry there wouldn’t be a problem.

Problem is Kemba is a low 40% shooter with few assist per game and last year this team (only Batum for Stephenson) sucked.

    • CJSHYY

I know so I really want to know how this coach will do w him? I found out it’s interesting When media in Shanghai asked Lin… what’s the goal for next season? Lin said one game at a time… something like that….?!

    • Spot

Lin Kemba and Batum worked so well. Lamb as 6th man.

They can go big against Spurs or Memphis or go small against Cleveland or Okc.

But they can’t start Batum as SG and Marvin Williams… What’s special in Williams i don’t know, with all my respect.

    • Alain Gervais

thats the rule for this year one game at a time. this can change pretty quickly

    • Alain Gervais

      so it starts today..

    • your son’s voltaire

agreed. i just don’t like Lamb being ahead of Lin in the rotation as they pretty much play the same spot with Lin hands down better in every way. Lin/Kemba/Batum/Al/Cody is the best lineup

    • Briiick

The 1st unit without Lin could just resume what Hornets were known for past seasons. The only difference this time is that there is a contrasting second unit led by Lin and the coaches do want to win.

    • Rick Johnson

How long is that going to take to heal? Mav’s look pathetic, bunch of broken down pieces.

      https://twitter.com/kc1nyk/status/656222184176791552

    • Alain Gervais

      lamb cant be sixth man

    • CJSHYY

Cuban has nothing but money so he can just signs another PG to replace him….LOL!

    • Spot

I really like Lamb. But he can’t be better than Jeremy or can’t defend like Kemba right now (I was so impressed by Kemba against Paul).

6th man is good for Lamb cause like KHuang rightfully wrote is basically still a rookie.

    • Dan Cohen

      you are questionable.

HAHAHA I’m joking.. you just set yourself up perfectly that I just have to play.

    • Alain Gervais

      from d league

    • Spot

      Why?

Bench the one who got the hardest guard to defend and put Lamb. Than the other one with still Lamb on court.

    • Rick Johnson
    • your son’s voltaire

i’ve been disagreeing with KKKHuang(i kid) about his love obsession with Lamb and his hate for Zeller all year long. heh

    • Linja

saw the listing on LP, it will not be the Hornet’s game. ??

    • Spot

      I like Zeller?

      Good pnr/pnp partner for Jeremy.

Can defend, grab rebounds and he’s a good slasher

    • Alain Gervais
    • Linja

I was so confused with NBA channel and LP. I was looking at NBA channel.

    • Alain Gervais

I have league pass on dish network. No preseason games have been shown.

    • CJSHYY

What? Oh! Maybe just like GSW game you have to check their local TV station…. I am sure you can see it from TV not computer.

    • pandaboy99

Clifford probably gonna cut down on Roberts, kaminksy minutes. no way he cuts down lins minutes

    • your son’s voltaire

exactly. i think Zeller is a better pnr partner than Tyson and ED has ever been. Zeller can stretch the floor all the way out to the 3 point line. so having him in the 1st unit and not with Lin is puzzling cus he’s not as effective without Lin

    • Alain Gervais

Roberts and Kiminsky won’t play in regular season. lamb minutes will drop for PJ Hairston

    • linfan

      Lin’s Greatest Game (so far):

What is your favorite JLin game so far? For me, there are several games that deserve mention. I guess a lot of people would vote for the Laker game where he scored 38 pts, and it was certainly impressive, but the Lakers were on the second night of a back to back and it seemed to me that they were sluggish and not up to such fierce competition from the “second string” Knicks. Also, they had no scouting report or plan for dealing with JLin. I think the Lakers were dismissive of the Knicks that night, and it cost them. Of course, there is also the Toronto Raptor game that Lin won with a last second shot, or the triple double game during his second year with Houston; I would also have nominated the 38 point outburst against the Spurs in Lin’s first year with Houston if he had not had the crucial turnover at the very end of regulation.

To me, the most impressive Lin game of all (so far) is the victory against Dallas during the Linsanity run. Dallas was fully prepared for Lin that night and they sent some of the toughest defense he has ever faced against him. He was wearing Shawn Marion and Dirk Nowitzki all night; they spent the whole game shadowing him and hacking at the ball with their long arms, causing him to commit 7 turnovers. It was very close, but Lin’s brilliant play in that game, some of the best I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot), carried the day. He finished with 28 very difficult points and 13 assists. He also set up Steve Novack and Jr Smith for several crucial three pointers. Don’t bother watching the highlights from that game, they look too easy;only watching the full game will show you what difficulties Lin had to overcome. You can see the full game here: http://www.aknba.com/nbaluxiang/8387.html

    • Spot

Agree. But Tyson was way better defensively. But Zeller gives you that extra bit in shooting.

If Zeller is not under the rim, the shot blocker should defend Zeller and leave space for Jeremy’s penetrations.

If the center stays under the rim Zeller can hit jumpers/3s and make him pay.

      My opinion at least

    • sws94

I don’t see that yet especially with Ed.

    • Rick Johnson

On my cable guide league pass takes up like 10 different channels. So all the games that are on League Pass are playing on one of those. Then there is NBA TV which is separate from League Pass. If it’s being shown on NBA TV then it isn’t on one of the League Pass channels. If you are watching from a computer through website or an app then you can only see the League Pass videos and not the NBA TV game. NBA TV is kind of separate. I think some cable packages include it so that allows people without LP but with cable to see some games. But it sucks for someone not by a TV if it is on NBA TV and you have LP trying to watch on a computer or mobile device.

When I’m away from home but want to watch a game on NBA TV, ESPN, Fox, TNT I have to stream it through my Slingbox to watch on my phone or tablet.

    • Spot

Lin made look Novak like Reggie Miller.

Agree anyway. Marion was guarding Jeremy but they couldn’t stop him.

    • zxcvb

      *14 assists. And 5 steals!

    • your son’s voltaire

to me, ED is superior in this pnr defense while Zeller is superior pnr/pnp offense. Tyson sets killer picks though, and he connects the best on alley oops

    • blubell

      Dirk was frustrated 🙂

    • CJSHYY
    • blubell

I hear the same thing on NBA radio. They don’t consider him a starter. Smh.

    • Alain Gervais

      ok I’m getting confused

    • Ben Johnson

I’m still hoping that this is one big conspiracy between Cho and Coach C to drive up Kemba and Big Als stats, and then to trade them off for a top shooting guard and defensive big man who can play the pick and roll

    • CJSHYY

Haha! Don’t think so but trade Al for other player maybe bc it’s his contract year, right?

    • blubell

But AL wants to retire as a Hornet.

    • CJSHYY

Haha! Maybe he’s afraid of Lin’s fans trash him on tweets…LOL! I think it’s pretty much settle just don’t want to say it now… but who knows… something may happen….? Just wait & see.

    • TTNN

i don’t think so. It is not easy to incorporate a key player mid season, and they are after a playoff run, could not afford to do that.

    • blubell

      Career high assists, correct?

    • TTNN

more like the coach is still confusing, and have not made a decision yet.

    • Briiick

A hole-digging 1st unit won’t be too much fun particular when there is a hole-filling second unit.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! He wants to but do Hornets also feel the same way about him?!

    • I am The Jason

I hate to say this but you are the type of Lin fan that irk other team fans. You can’t expect a team to completely change their dynamic for Lin. Lin is not a high caliber player like Lebron, KD, or Anthony Davis. Yes Lin is a great player who just needs some trust from the coach and FO and it seems Charlotte is giving him that. But you have to understand, Al and Kemba were here before Lin and they were sign to big contracts. Wishing the Hornets would trade away them or give Lin the keys to the kingdom is wishful thinking. Your thinking is driving fans of the Hornets to despise Lin fans before the regular season begin. Just relax. Lin has his freedom whether he starts or comes off the bench.

    • CJSHYY

I agree on “Lin has his freedom whether he starts or comes off the bench.” I think he can control it. Why he took this 2M contract bc it’s trade off deal…

    • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes, we are totally opposite of the North atmosphere. Christmas in summer. Took me a long time to readjust myself. Dream of white Christmas is no longer my dream anymore:-)

    • Ben Johnson

First of all, no s@#$ that Jeremy isnt a top 5 player…if youve read my posts youll see that I gauge him as a top 50-75 player in the league…2nd, kemba is not a starting pg in the nba and al doesnt possess the skills necessary to excel in a modern offense…3rd, ive had enough of the fake fans around here who remain content to watch jeremy rot on the bench despite being the best guard on the team

    • heart

Oh, how I hope Clifford learns from D’Antoni. Remember, it took D’Antoni only one game to make his decision to insert Lin in the starting line up. Paraphrasing from my memory->D’Antoni stated the reason he didn’t want to put pressure on Jeremy to come in half way and have to bail out game… He wanted Jeremy to be just one of the guys…So Jeremy got his first NBA start from D’Antoni. The rest is history…

    • Rick Johnson
    • golfhacker

If you turn the Bulls logo upside down, it looks like a robot reading a book 🙂

    • LAJane

“Fake fans” is a little harsh…’cause there are those of us who dearly pray for him to find a starting PG spot but who do take into account the emotional and political realities. Frankly, as does Lin. We tend to stick to his confidence that his devotion to both the game and his values will manifest to their highest in ripe time. We may have a difference of opinion on this, but I don’t think that makes us fake fans.

    • blueCypher

Aye, the hair game is on

    • Will we see some floaters tonight?

    • JJ Hui

      I saw that! 😉

    • JW
    • blueCypher

I don’t believe that takes 3-5 minutes to gel. More like at least 10 haha

    • blubell

We haven’t seen a floater since early last season. Hope to see it more.

    • JJ Hui

      Hahaha! No mouth and nose!!

    • Preseason would be a good time to try a new bag of tricks.
Let’s hope so against some CHI bigs

    • blueCypher

I really like the Hornets logo, great design imo

    • Alain Gervais

      espn.com ranked kemba i think top 50

    • That could be JLin draining a 3 (or long 2) from the top of the key

    • orLinaryjoe

      any working link?

    • Acbc

I agree with the part about how Tiger Lin fans can alienate local fans by making demands on and on. It’s very annoying to a lot of posters on this forum. Those of us that are fans of Lin should trust him to abvance his own cause without us interfering with his work place. That’s how a lot of us feel a good fan should be.

I don’t agree that Lin is not a high caliber player like Lebron, KD….etc. I’m in full agreement with Khaung that Lin is truly such a player. He has done it once already with Knicks. The denyers have erased that record as a fluke which has even made Lin fans forget the huge impact he alone made to a dysfunctional team. If that’s not greatness, I don’t know what is. Lin needs a chance and the faith of a owner, GM and coach to show his transformative ability, to completely lift his teammates into doing things that they could only dream possible. So far, Lin has done a little of that already.

    • Rzo Vlade
    • I am The Jason

Here is the reality. Kemba is a starting PG. He starts for the Hornets. You not liking that does not negate that fact. Also Al does have the skills for a modern offense. He showed it playing alongside with Lin in the lineup. Al just likes to post up. Nothing wrong with that if he is scoring. Al also lost 20lbs because he knew he was going to do a lot of running. And finally, Lin is not rotting on the bench. He is the first or second sub to come in. Lin will get as much shine as the next Hornet that starts this season.

    • blueCypher

Haha, the chicago feed says Lin was acquired from the Lakers

    • Steppen03

I really, really don’t like Lin to be coming off the bench but it is what it is. Kemba, MKG, Al are here to stay. All we can do is wait with a watchful eye. No MKG in starting lineup then it could be Lin. Coach Cliff just need some time and take things a bit slower. Give him some room. Lin will get his dues if this franchise is truly honest and unbiased.

    • blubell

      Thanks!

    • LimitedEdition

Hope to see Troy Daniels play. I think he is a better shooter than Lamb but not sure if he can create his own shots or defend well.

    • blubell

      Preseason. Small market.

    • Rick Johnson

We have to listen to Chicago announcers? Already saying 5-0 doesn’t mean anything.

    • Acbc

We hated how Cuban and Morey plays with players like upper deck trading cards. Morey treated his aging stars with total disrespect. I honestly hope MJ and the Horents can be a much better org. that values human beings, like family and community.

Big Al can become like Dirk and ease himself out while taking a smaller role and financial burden. A team player like Al may be open to such an option if presented as a way for him to retire as a hornet.

    • real-dsb

Let’s all relax with about judging how much of a “real” or “fake” fan other posters are. There is an extremely wide spectrum of Lin fans. When posters start to judge each other, you end up in flame wars.

    • JW

    • LimitedEdition

Walk by himself, so should not be too serious but probably out for rest of preseason games

    • JW

If walker doesn’t come back, no reason for Lin to play SG.

    • real-dsb

Hopefully just a mild sprain, and Walker will be back next game.

    • steven ko

am i a bad human being when i was glad to see Lin this early in the game after Kemba turned his ankle?

    • zxcvb

Lin is the best player on the floor (Butler included).

The fouls are annoying but rember that it’s preseason. Lin knows he’s not playing big minutes in preseason and it’s important for coaches and teammates to see him playing HARD on defense. No resting. Ref cheating will always hurt the Asian guy, but Lin will adjust once the REAL games begin.

    • zxcvb

First foul was laughable race BS (no way Lin outran Butler!), but the others were typical preseason junk. Lin knows what he’s doing.

    • John Lee

Then Bulls must’ve forgotten to check the final score. 🙂

    • Alain Gervais

it will slow down like last year. lin trying new defensive moves. He clearly not getting same respect as others

    • GoodDayLA

      Kemba + and Lin a -? dammit

    • Lance words are probably sour grapes.
At least Kemba tried to get 1-2 going with Al; not going so well with Batum now

    • zxcvb

Simmons said that CHA was one of the most dysfunctional front offices along with SAC and LAC.

    • Joe what do you know

      Bulls bigs crowding the paint…

    • zxcvb

I wish Lin could play for Brad Stevens. Unfortunately, Stevens is in a similar situation with Ainge (like Clifford and MJ).

Ainge wants old school players and “stars” and won’t make any big moves until he gets one. Stevens is a brilliant young modern basketball mind who got the least talented team in the NBA into the playoffs.

    • CJSHYY

      Also 4 AS.

    • cshot

      bulls bigs and foul trouble

    • Joe what do you know

Little ball hogs are playing at half time…. Look at them trying to go coast to coast and missing the layup… Lmao

    • LAJane

Only one among so many. I really don’t know how some of these owners managed to make fortunes large enough to have NBA teams as trophies. Were they trust fund babies…or did other actually smart people do all the work?

MJ might be changing his tune, what with old-school losing and now the Lin appreciation. We’ll see…

    • zxcvb

OT: I tried to pre-order Star Wars tickets on Fandango…the website crashed! I might miss opening night.

    • Joe what do you know

Force choke is applied on the website…

    • zxcvb

      Like Linsanity…too much to handle.

    • Martin Chong

Let them blow, it is their job.

    • blueCypher

Looking forward to that movie, but I don’t need to see it the 1st weekend

    • Acbc

Tiger Lin fans will demand Luke be the emperor already.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Walker out for a short period, the rotation was a mess. but hey, it’s preseason.

    • Joe what do you know

Or perhaps it got shot down by a X-Wing…

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I wished the coach would let Lin play through the foul trouble…This is pre-season..No need to seat him down because you’re afraid he’s going to foul out in a game that doesn’t mean much….I don’t like the fact we didn’t see Lin much after he came out early in the second quarter.

    • Tommy

hope Lin plays 15mins in the 2nd half
or we know clifford is a

we know they are trying to win this one

    • Tommy

I think hes just sitting Lin and giving other players more playing time

    • Acbc

Let Lin finish game if it’s close enough to push for a win. That’s what we all want to see…including Clifford.

    • John Lee

      Luke’s Kylo Ren, called it!

    • John Lee

Lin’s the final knock-out punch, don’t want him to be fouled out before then.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I would like to see Lin play 30 minutes just to get him prepare for the regular season..This is very close to opening night, so not much time to experiment anymore.

    • Tommy

I think this is gonna be what its like when the regular starts Lin prolly gets around 22mins
minute wise its gonna be close to houston

    • John Lee

If Lin can put away teams in three quarters, like he did the Clippers, I wouldn’t mind him cutting down on the tear and wear.

    • Joe what do you know

Marv is doing pretty good being the last offensive option on the court, Making most of the shots count

    • Rick Johnson

      Nice and One for Batum.

    • stam

      yeah… whats going on.. where’s Lin 🙁

    • sws94

I think 28 plus for sure. It’s still pre-season and Lin was allowed to play with 2 fouls in the first quarter.

    • Rick Johnson

      Foul trouble

    • Tommy

      cuz kemba out

    • LAJane

Lin is totally prepared. Others are still working it out:)

    • Alain Gervais

      bulls pulling away

    • stam

Lin is going to be really cold by the time he gets back in.

    • Alain Gervais

I’m just not impressed today that starting unit is just eeeehhhhhh

    • Rick Johnson

      No Lin, no win.

    • linfan

Need Lin in full attack mode

    • Tommy

Jimmy butler is a very good player but hes taking way too many shots
and Mirotic should be their 2nd option(when rose is out)

    • Alain Gervais

Al Jefferspon leads the starters in assist… enough said

    • Acbc

Lol, we don’t want Walker on a walker.

    • John Lee

      Batum 4 TOs, Walker 3 TOs… smh

Jeremy coming in after timeout…he has to.

    • linfan

      Actually Jlin leads in assists

    • IMO Coach C will see this “big” CHA lineup is not working.
They get outmuscled by CHI with 19-37 rebounding

There’s not enough playmaking out there. Batum and Kemba got a combined 7 TOs

    • BUZZCITY17

Wow Lin getting benched for playing the best.. typical Houston Treatment

    • blubell

      Jeremy didn’t start.

    • BUZZCITY17

Clifford treating Lin like he was in Houston and LA

    • blubell

      Foul trouble

    • linfan

      Sorry, you meant starters

    • John Lee

Official HNS, Hornets’ Nest Stirrer. 🙂

    • blubell

If Jeremy got those TOs, haters will be all over it.

    • sport

Lin is in. Opps nevermine. Stats chart fooled my eye when it changed and bold JLin’s name for 1 second.

    • blubell

      It’s time to Win!

    • Michael

      Why? I mean yay!

    • Rick Johnson

      Yeah !

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

So why Kemba is playing so much if the idea is not to tire important players.
Looks like all the other guys are playing big minute tonight.

    • LAJane

In a way, it’s a good thing Jeremy’s sitting for the moment with foul trouble. Clifford can bench him to have something left in the bank for later, but I think this is just what he wants…not so he can see what the players can do, but so THEY can have evidence of their weaknesses that will make it easier for him to make changes in rotations without anyone getting so bent out of shape that he loses team cohesion.

    • LAJane

      LOL. Snort.

    • Tommy

daniels and kaminski in before Lin hmmmm
and its like 4mins left hmmm

    • KHuang

Lin FOULED HIMSELF OUT of the first half.

He’s gotta realize that this is not Houston or LA where the coach yanks him out of the game randomly.

Lin will learn how to pace himself.

    • Dorothy

why do I feel some posts from certain posters are always inflammatory

    • John Lee

Plenty of time to close out the game.

    • sport

I kinda guess Lin won’t play much since he had the flu. He’s gotta stay out of foul trouble, keeping getting those fouls. Maybe he’ll play all 4th quarter.

    • Dan Cohen

      4 minuts n the 3rd qtr dodo

    • CaliUSMC

didnt big al have 3 fouls in first half?

    • KHuang

      Good.

PUNISH Lin for playing too aggreessively on defense.

Lin can’t play defense for his teammates past a certain point.

    • sws94

It’s a preseason game. Coach knows what Lin can do. Daniels and Kaminski needs to get run as Clifford needs to see who to keep or let go.

    • LAJane

Let go of the PTSD. [Also a note to self :)]

    • blubell

Troll! I mean lets see some pick and rolls!

    • With 3 fouls, Coach C might want to save Jeremy for Q4

    • Brent Yen

All the passes Kemba tried to make outside in ended up badly

    • LAJane

He sees it. He just wants to be sure THEY see it.

    • Michael

      Pick and Nose.

    • John Lee

Clifford adjusted, Bulls scoreless in almost 3 min.

    • blubell

      Mr. 4th quarter!

    • sport

Hornets doing well, tied game now.

    • blueCypher

Looks like Lin will play until the end. Although I think he is not 100% recovered from the flu

    • Tommy

hope thats why hes being punished
really dont think hes that high on Lin

    • occupatio

bulls are big squad. kaminsky got scored going to rim

    • John Lee

I wouldn’t expect anything less from you, Mister!

    • stam

      yeah that would make sense

    • Tommy

yah well the starters are playing heavy minutes Lin isnt so that should tell u where Lin stands now

    • Ulysses Modder

Fortunately Lin’s situation is better than in Houston and Lakers but unfortunately it is much worse than in Knicks.

Lin is just another bench player in Hornets

    • sws94

Calm down. He’s very high on Lin.

    • Briiick

Yes, the 4th quarter is all yours.

    • blubell

Don’t hurt yourself… we need our troll! Everyone stay healthy 🙂

    • Tommy

as a back up at best

    • John Lee

Can we reserve judgment ’till end of 4th?

    • Acbc

Go back to sleep or you’ll ruin the good luck vibes for Lin! Your our lucky troll.

    • it’s okay

Lin started as a bench player w/ the Knicks too 🙂

    • sws94

It’s pre-season and he has a TEAM to evaluate. You can’t come to any conclusions until several games into the regular season how he’ll use Lin. He’s said nothing but positive things about Lin and the big role he’ll play with the team.

    • Rick Johnson

      Lin in

    • Rick Johnson

      What was that pass?

    • occupatio

lin been wiping hands all night. hes n ervous

    • or he’s got a hot hand?

    • stam

      damn kaminski… get it in!

    • Acbc

We forgive you for your Freudian slip. Lol

    • blubell

      He’s on fire!

    • occupatio

      hah

    • bad angle & before Frank was set

    • occupatio

lin got to line with ease

    • stam

      Free throws please make em!

    • Alain Gervais

      Aaron brooks cant guard lin

    • stam

      NICE spencer hawes defense!

    • blubell

I want to see Jeremy block Brooks and then dunk on the other end again 😉

    • Acbc

      Yikes, could be snot!

    • blueCypher

      haha, hairston

    • Rick Johnson

Okay, Hairston getting the 15th spot.

    • Alain Gervais

      or lambs

    • blubell

      So who’s getting cut?

    • Hairston is making the most of his opportunity.
He got 11 on 4-5 shooting, just like Lin

    • linfan

Looks like the rest was good for Hairston

    • Alain Gervais

      lin effortlessly has 11 points.

    • Alain Gervais

P.J Hairston goes crazy for 11 points

    • zxcvb

Lin being more careful with fouls. Nice to see.

He rushed those FTs he missed! That’s what Doc Scheppler would say.

    • sws94

Daniels and Kaminski both haven’t played much. Daniels due to injury and Kaminski is a rookie. He’s at the point in the preseason where he has to figure out what is main rotation will be so he needs to get a look at this guys playing extended minutes. Lin is definitely in the main rotation so Lin doesn’t need the run.

    • sport

Love how Lin’s looking to score right off the bench unlike the past. He used to pass to must now he’s more of a scorer which is good.

    • John Lee

Aaron Harrison, Elliot Williams, and Sam Thompson would be my guess.

    • zxcvb

I think that’s a big reason why Lin and Clifford are okay with him being 6th man.

No standing around! When he’s 6th man, he’s the 1st option. No doubt.

    • blubell

Hmmm. I didn’t even know they were on the team. lol.

    • Great pass by Lin to Frank inside.
      Announcer: “Great patience by Lin”

    • John Lee

Since Hornets’ timeout with 6:07 in 3rd, Bulls held to 5 pts in six and a half minutes. Great D reminiscent of the 3Q of the Shanghai game.

    • Lin just sliced and diced like noone else’s business

    • stam

Nice 2 free trhows by lin!

    • zxcvb

Lin took his time both FTs…and made both. Doc is nodding in approval!

    • Rick Johnson

I want to see some Lin / Zeller action.

    • stam

      AND 1 BY LIN!

    • And-1!!!!

    • sport

      AND 1 for Lin!

    • Rick Johnson

      Yesss ! And one

    • zxcvb

Finally a Knicks floater! Lin’s floater went missing after Linsanity.

    • Michael

      Aaron Brooks = =…………………

    • sport

JLin with 16 points already woot woot! At this rate he’ll get 20+ pts!!

    • stam

Not a bad player what kind of bs commentators are they?

    • Alain Gervais

Jeremy Lin-Aaron brooks aint got nothing on me

    • zxcvb

      Bulls commentators!

    • sport

Against Aaron Brooks, Lin has lot so of height advantage! 🙂

    • Alain Gervais

i don’t care. lin torching them

    • John Lee

      BullS commentators, BS for shorthand.

    • zxcvb

I wish Brooks and Lin could be reunited — ideal PG rotation. AB is a great guy and a nice 6th man with the right coach (Clifford, Stevens, Pop).

    • CaliUSMC

stacey king got so fat…… didn’t even recognize him at first

    • zxcvb

Refs adjusting to Lin! Calling 50/50 fouls in FAVOR of Lin.

    • stam

Wow is Lin actually getting foul calls? I wish this lasted through the season.

    • sport

Wow Hinrich fouled out already? O.o

    • Alain Gervais

Lol another foul. They having fits with lin

    • cry me Argentina 🙂

    • zxcvb

He hit those floaters on Dirk and Kidd!

    • Rick Johnson

No with AB Lin has to play SG. I like Lin at PG and a defensive SG like Shumpert.

    • sport

Same here hope this is the norm in regular season except for cheating refs for typical teams like Clippers.

    • occupatio

he cocked his head back, like in houston days

    • can’t handle Lin’s speed 🙂
      FTs galore

    • Job713

One thing Lin learned from Harden is the head snap back when he gets fouled.. the head flop.

    • he got Linned! LOL

    • occupatio

meh brooks. cant defend and has blinders on often

    • Alain Gervais

      JLin- pay back

    • linfan

Lin playing well but looks tired, not fully healed yet

    • zxcvb

If Lin starts at SG, he will have to deal with racist ref bias for 5-10 games (“No way Lin stopped Klay/Harden/Derozan!”). But they’ll adjust if Charlotte keeps playing him theere.

    • devin23

Whatever it takes to get better. if it means flopping, so be it.

    • stam

Lin = leading scorer in 16 minutes and leading assist, not even PG 100%

    • CaliUSMC

      Lin.. 16pts/4asts in 16mins….. niceeeeeeeeee

    • Rick Johnson

      Team high !

    • stam

      NICE A by Lin!

    • Hawes loves Lin’s assists!

    • Rick Johnson

      Hawes 33333!

    • sport

Wow Hawes with that 3 and assist for Lin.

    • zxcvb

Instant offense and a team player.

    • sport

Lin play PG right now yay!

    • zxcvb

      Going away from Lin…lead disappears.

    • sws94

Daniels doesn’t look good. Outside of being a great shooter, his overall game isn’t very strong.

    • Alain Gervais

      lin vs butler

    • zxcvb

I want to trade for PJ Tucker in Phoenix.

    • sport

Walker back in, will Lin still get to play PG?

    • Rick Johnson

Daniels been disappointing. I thought he was a sharpshooter ? Guess he’s been off for a while maybe rusty.

    • Dorothy

      222222222222

Lin is crazy another nice 2!

    • Rick Johnson

    • CaliUSMC

uhh was lin’s 2 a layup or jumper? stream lagged out

    • Joe what do you know

I’ll give the last roster spot to Hairston just by looking at tonight’s performance compared to Daniels

    • John Lee

Lin highest in scoring and assists, lowest TO playmaker, all in under 20 min.

    • stam

      Jumper

    • Rick Johnson

Nice move Walker. Bulls don’t know which side it’s coming from.

    • Acbc

Forget it, typical Asian discount…50% off

    • zxcvb

      Too much Kemba and Al.

    • LAJane

Only following on play-by-play – with Walker in is Jeremy still playing PG?

    • stam

I’m sorry to compare but when Lin is PG the offense looks so much better.

    • Rick Johnson

Exactly. Hawes / Zeller better big man pair.

    • occupatio

butler is a tough matchup f or lin.

    • Alain Gervais

Al missed two good shots. He don’t have it today

    • stam

      Jeremy is SG.

    • zxcvb

      Only with 3 fouls!

    • blueCypher

This is Lin’s year guys, this is the year

    • sport

Lin definitely driving less this season and taking more jumpers, less wear on the body.

    • CaliUSMC

      year of the dragon

    • Riddick

      No…and it shows.

    • devin23

That’s good. His jumpshot is money so far.

    • zxcvb

Hornets should trade for PJ Tucker in Phoenix. He’s a nice vet swingman who can be a perfect complement to Lin and Kemba. And he’s definitely available.

    • sws94

Tough assignment for Lin. Lin can body him but he used a roll out move on Lin and lost him. Green did the same thing. So did Wade. Lin will have to watch for that when he defends taller, strong 2 guards.

    • Alain Gervais

He’s doing well. if he can guard butler he can guard any SG

    • Tommy

      Lin letting walker take over

    • sport

Still hope JLin can start during regular season and play more PG.

    • stam

yeah way better for his health! He drives when he thinks he can get an and 1 it seems.

    • Ulysses Modder

If Lin out ofgame now, so coach cliff is not different from others

    • occupatio

      walker letting walker take over

    • sws94

Yes, his touch isn’t there today.

    • John Lee

Yes, the guy with 5 assts stops playing PG so the guys with 0 assts takes over.

    • JJ Hui

      Al Jefferson? Wasted shots !

    • Tommy

either way its a good thing

    • occupatio

the backdoor against bigger SG’s hurts him.

    • Rzo Vlade

      dont care 18pts 5asst 4reb lol

    • devin23

If Hornets really want to win, they should trade kemba for a true sg. But that’s obviously not gonna happen.

    • stam

To be fair, it’s preseason….If Lin is taken out it may be because he’s still sick.

    • sport

      Nope Lin’s still in!

    • stam

      16 pts?

    • blueCypher

Are we seeing the closing unit ?? I think this is it !

    • KL

This could be it. This could indicate the lineup to close out games.

    • Rick Johnson

Jefferson 2/6. Bad for a post up big man.

    • sport

Dislike Al post ups, 4 wasted possessions!

    • zxcvb

I’d trade Kemba to old school Lionel Hollins’ Brooklyn for Jack and Bogdanovic. But that’s just “crazy” me.

    • CaliUSMC

      WTF IS JEFFERSON DOING. OMG

    • Rick Johnson

      Come on Jefferson !!!

    • LAJane

well, the more it shows…I think that helps Clifford in what I believe is his effort to get Jeremy more PG time. He wants to win.

    • GoJLin!

      18 Pts

    • CaliUSMC

      kemba rainbow 3 horrible shot!!!@3

    • stam

      pay back to buttler

    • sws94

Great defense by Lin now on Butler. Yes.

    • CaliUSMC

ok.. i guess he made up for it…

    • Ulysses Modder

      I love You coach Cliff

    • Alain Gervais

Lin putting on a defensive clinic

    • Riddick

Now I see why Char was at the bottom last year.

    • blueCypher

This is clearly the unit to close out games !

    • Rick Johnson

Yesssss Kemba 333 ! Lin get credit for steal on Butler ?

    • cshot

      Lin’s defense is bad??? lol

    • sws94

I think you’re right. in most games this may be it.

    • Job713

      JLin nicee on defense.

    • Michael

Al has to play better though.

    • sport

At least he’s playing better than Al Jefferson. I seriously think Al should be benched and not start during regular season, his offense is too old school and limited. Hawes and Kamisky are so much better with Lin.

    • KL

      Yes he did.

    • stam

walker got 20 points wow… he’s playing well

    • Rzo Vlade

      old and slow and fat

    • blueCypher

Yay, Clifford is not BS or Mchale haha

    • zxcvb

      Lin elevates everyone…including Kemba.

If Lin doesn’t start at SG, it’s because of politics not basketball.

    • devin23

Kemba is NOT a good pg

    • Riddick

      Ya….- Walker/Jefferson.

    • Alain Gervais

Thats what he said, this game will be like the regular season rotation wise.

    • Rick Johnson

Ya right? Whole offense was Kemba and Jefferson. That’s going nowhere.

    • Dan Cohen

      no denying it now..
lin is the best player.. look at the mins and stats.
even a devils advocate like me is saying this..

    • sws94

Not really. Lin as 6th man has a lot of appeal too.

    • occupatio

lin was standing in corner most of those plays.

    • stam

I would like Lin to lead on scoring too.. is that too much to ask?

    • Rick Johnson

      Announcers cant ignore Lin anymore.

    • JJ Hui

Lin had so many rebounds! The game is getting intense! Commentators very fair n praise Lin!

    • stam

Oh god i feel like smacking the commentators.

    • Rick Johnson

Solid backup PG SMH. Better than their Rose !!

    • John Lee

Exactly, how does one ignore 18 pts, 6 rebs, 5 asts in 21:50 min?

    • Riddick

Not ignore, but they’re trying to down play his ability pretty hard. smh

    • stam

NICE! I just want lin to score again… he seems to be distributing more

    • Alain Gervais

That’s his opinion. Lin will shut people up this year. I hope. If he continues to play like he is now, he will.

    • Ulysses Modder

Lin is making the Hornets a winning team and coach Cliff already understood this

    • blueCypher

Dont worry guys, by mid season people will be saying Lin is a starter

    • cshot

Lol announcers…”Lin is a good player, NOT a great player…”

    • stam

      i just want 20 lol. 🙂

    • Rick Johnson

Come on, I wan’t >20 pts for Lin

    • sport

Lin with 18pts, 7rebs, and 5 asts. 😀 Hope he gets highest pts so he can be leaders for all 3 categories tonight!

    • zxcvb

Lin: 18p/7r/5a in 23m! It’s preseason, but he would attack the rim more with FTs in REAL games.

    • Rick Johnson

    • zxcvb

      Come on, Al. TRADE HIM.

    • stam

that was such an awesome pass no joke…

    • devin23

Lin doesn’t touch the ball with kemba as PG, he’s probably better off the bench if they going to start kemba

    • CaliUSMC

    • Michael

    • orLinaryjoe

    • LAJane

BTW…how does your point guard/shooting guard also have the most rebounds. Centers…?

      Oops…looks like Williams matched him.

    • sport

Lin shooting Fts again!! Darn missed them both!! Come on!

    • zxcvb

Kemba got doubled…and passed it to Lin! YES. I commend Kemba for being a team player, unlike Harden or Kobe.

    • stam

Come on… wtf 2 FT misses?

    • zxcvb

Missed both! Doc is angry. Lin rushed them!

    • Riddick

He’s pretty much doing it all!

    • sws94

Lin left 4 points at the FT line. Got to tighten up on those some.

    • blueCypher

Only downside is Lin is not having a good FT shooting night

    • Dorothy

      what is wrong with Lin’sFT?

    • orLinaryjoe

      Ouch, Lin 2 missed fts

    • Alain Gervais

Jeremy Lin-no 20 points for you

    • Dan Cohen

what ??? lin need ft work.. that is like 6 missed points ther.. he will be leading in points too!!! smh

    • zxcvb

      BOO LIN. Missing both FTs!

    • cshot

      FREE THROWS pls lol

    • stam

      We all are angry…

    • sport

Lin’s gotta shoot better FTs :/

    • Rick Johnson

Is the hair throwing off the FT’s or something?

    • CaliUSMC

      he’s gonna make a 3… watch

    • Dan Cohen

wonder if lin is doing it on purpose.. not to outshine the stars ..lol

    • Alain Gervais

      lol

    • stam

that was lin’s chance to get 20 points without an increase in FGA

    • occupatio

he stops caring when the win is in the bag

    • Riddick

      Off balance? lol

    • Alain Gervais

a lot of people(mostly Al) missed shots they won’t miss in regular season. lin changed game 3rd quarter.

    • stam

he’s the ultimate professional , i don’t think he’d do that. he plays to win

    • Michael

I just realized the Hornets were playing at home 😛

    • LAJane

Sorta well. Idk…just more minutes. I don’t feel wowed.

    • CaliUSMC

Pretty sure Noah still has weed in his system.. Needs another month to flush it out.

    • Riddick

Hope so bcuz those are a lot of lost points.

    • occupatio

lin totalyl filled up the stat sheet tonight

    • stam

I knew kemba would take the shot…

    • blubell

      The Hive.

    • sport

Lol another rebound for Lin! 18pts. 8 rebs, 5 asts! He’d have a Triple Double if he was starter and PG!

    • zxcvb

      Lin was elite tonight.

    • LimitedEdition

      Rebound King!

    • Dan Cohen

man.. could’ve been 20 , 7 and 8.. (miss ft and miss easy assists)

    • KHuang

      SHAQUILLE O LIN

      WILT CHAMBERLIN

      DENNIS RODLIN

      CHRIS DUDLIN

    • cshot

he seriously could have had a double double easy this game lol. dumb free throw misses and blown assists from jefferson

    • Job713

Love the consistency of Lin’s games. No wide swings in consistency thus far.

    • sport

      Lin missed 4 Fts! :/ Could’ve been 22 pts!

    • Alain Gervais

Lin was perfect today. Also notice coach let lin rest a lot of the third knowing he would play whole fourth. Something scott never did last year

    • JJ Hui

Lin is the rebound king tonight! we love you Lin!

    • stam

      Agreed 100% he’s been consistent!

    • devin23

assists not his fault. Teammates couldn’t convert gimmes. FTs… gotta work on that. Prob didn’t practice much since he was sick.

    • real-dsb

      you forgot MICHAEL JORDLIN

    • blueCypher

Ya, I like this. Lin comes off the bench , but closes out the game with this unit

    • Job713

This was Jeremy’s Flu game. MJ approves.

    • John Lee

He’s ALWAYS consistent when playing shackle-free.

    • stam

I think Lin is player of the game.. 6/8 18 points, lead in rebounds and assists and he’s not even PG 100%

    • grover chang

      maybe that was the point

    • John Lee

      And 1! LOL

    • sport

Al had a really easy put back and missed it, so many wasted assists! I seriously think Al should be benched, his game is too old school and his posts up are ugly to watch.

      Lin got 18-5-8 in 25 minutes (coudl’ve benn at least 20, 7 and 8 in 25minutes).
      that’s nuts
      that’s elite
and the broadcaster is saying he is not great, but a very good player….servicable backup and solid player..

      the f-cK!?

What does he have to do to be great?? 30 and 15 and 15?!! stupi announcers.

    • nodomo

Bulls announcer after talking about Jeremy’s play tonight – “Jeremy is a very good player. Can he be a great player, no.” Sheesh…

    • stam

that would be really smart actually to miss the FT because he doesn’t want kemba to stop passing..

    • cshot

i don’t know about being benched but he can create a lot of open shots for others even if he doesn’t take shots. he bricked a lot of weird hooks today

    • Rick Johnson

Got to work on the FT though. Maybe still virus / jet lag?

    • sport

Yes I heard that, what a hater! Lin’s the best player on the Hornets team right now, he’s a natural leader and deserves to be PG more than Kemba.

    • SHINYDONUT

Lin missed those last two FT on purpose. Whether good sportsmanship or not to show-up his teammates. His form when shooting them looked way too relaxed.

    • steven ko

did JButler score at all with Lin covering him?

    • Alain Gervais

I think he said Is he great not can he be great…big difference.

    • grover chang

Then they are saying bull players are average or lower since they just lost.

    • sws94

I doubt he really sees Lin that much to know. Sometimes guys just go on perception over what they really know of the player.

    • occupatio

its to be expected. the pattern is so predictable. lin goes straight down the lane for a layup and the bulls announcers immediatealy faults the defense. whereas for a ‘star’, announcers will praise the star but for lin, its awlays the defense making a mistake if he scores.

    • Dan Cohen

      well
to be a big 3 legitimately. lin has to start..else ppl are like what?? a bench player is a big 3 with starters.

    • Martin Chong

    • blueCypher

You tend to do that when you play like an elite

    • Dan Cohen

      houston?? not

    • occupatio

u tend to do that when ur team has sucked for years

    • John Lee

True, except that’s NOT what the announcers said. They discounted future possibility, saying Lin CANNOT be a great player.

Besides, 26 pts 12 rebs 7 asts PER36 while having flu is pretty great.

    • real-dsb

Strange, it’s usually Lin’s home team announcers that say that kind of stuff, and opposing announcers are the ones to compliment Lin.

Shrug, they’ll be in for a surprise when they meet in the regular season then!

    • stam

Yes he is, you hear them cheering for him but not as loud as walker yet…

    • Rzo Vlade

      the go to guy

    • Sundown

I think some of that is due to the legacy of the crazy fans. They clearly wanted to say he played well tonight, but they didn’t want to look Linsane. So instead they toned it down to “good “.

    • Job713

Much like the past 3 years has hardened Lin as a player, as a fan you learn to put these comments on ignore. We don’t need these announcers to affirm our choice of players to root for.

    • Acbc

They are just ticked that Lin not playing for them instead of playing for MJ.

    • Alain Gervais

In the fourth Jimmy butler. Brooks was chop liver. Kirk fouled out on Lin.

    • Tommy

      Butler in the 4th

    • Hope

    • Dan Cohen

      25 mins with 18 – 5 – 8..
      35 mins might be 25 – 8 – 10.
      that is all star level.

and yet.. they still think linsanity was hyped.. (aka a nice way of saying it’s a fluke).. because he didn’t live up to those expectations..
Let lin play his game.. you will see linsanity was no fluke.. it’s the coaches and the minutes.. But media and nba will never say that because it the same for all playas and also nba will be doing a disservice to the coaches.

    • John Lee

In his defense, he was working with Al. Let me put it this way, EVEN Jeremy lost 2-3 asts because of Al.

    • bolero

    • Riddick

I think those who went to the games were for Lin, those couch potatoes online…not so much.

    • Michael

And he made a quick pass to Lin out of the double team, who was unfortunately fouled.

    • stam

True that… lots of blown assists sigh

    • real-dsb

If Lin plays like this and his teammates play like that all season, then I pray his teammates are strong. Will take men with strong sense of self to put their ego aside for the team. Took complete humbling desperation under the pressure of New York for his teammates to embrace him during Linsanity. But after awhile Melo small stature couldn’t handle the weight of Linsanity anymore.

I don’t agree with Kemba being a good pick and roll player. He can score, but he’s not consistent, therefore the low FG%. He def can’t pass.

well, that’s still a lot for preseason

    • Alain Gervais

He wasn’t. The whole first unit was lead in assist by big Al

    • Martin Chong

      agreed 100%

    • real-dsb

maybe he meant Kemba as the pick and roller, Lin with the ball. LOL

    • Michael

Don’t worry, it will only get worse.

    • Alain Gervais

They are 2- 4 this preseason i think the wanted to win today badly

    • Briiick

      Before Lin joined them.

    • real-dsb

      good chemistry!

    • John Lee

You know, for all of Kemba’s shortcomings as a starting PG, his one redeeming quality is that he WILL NOT stab Jeremy in the back. That’s gotta count for something, especially after the last three years..

    • Job713

Skip the pre game handshakes. This is their new post game handshake.

    • devin23

Lin has been given proper usage off the bench, i think he’ll play real well. Next year, if team keeps kemba, lin should go elsewhere in a team that will start him at pg and use him on pnr

    • CJSHYY

Exactly bc the other team were watch out Lin more than Kemba.

    • stam

yeah they played pretty good defense, JLin stole the ball from butler after butler went for the steal and was unsuccessful

    • devin23

lin is a combo guard cause of his size, but he’s the only guard in this team with true pg skills. Kemba and roberts are really SGs in a PG body.

    • grover chang

someone posted during orlando game, offense, lin pg and walker sg. On defense lin sg and walker pg.

    • Michael

      Moss is mad at you.

    • CJSHYY

Even Kemba got more pts but Lin did more…

    • devin23

Yea but those assist by Lin were gimmes, automatic converts if the big men can finish. Kemba’s blown assists were turnovers…

    • devin23

After watching this game i hope not. He didn’t get many touchs as a starting SG. Off the bench as a PG he was running the show. If he can start as PG and kemba play 6th man? Awesome, if not, backup pg/sg will have to do.

    • grover chang

Maybe Hoiberg realized what Thib knew. We aren’t deep, I gotta play my starters. That is not going to get you a championship.

    • CJSHYY

Today gave me this feeling even more… bc before the game time Lin was on ESPN radio said Kemba is a good shooter?! Maybe things will turn around then… 🙂

    • sport

Would’ve been even worst if Al didn’t chuck out all those misses and Lin was PG when playing with Kemba. Seems like Lin gets to play PG mostly with the 2nd unit guys.

    • real-dsb

fingers crossed, but I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself!

    • grover chang

Brooks is small outside but big on the inside. I remember when Mchale told Brooks to sub in for Lin. Lin just scored again and was doing amazing. Brooks walked back and told McHale “Let Lin stay, he is doing his thing.” Then he sat back on the bench. I think a few weeks later Brooks was traded. LOL.

    • CaliUSMC

    • TankLakers

24 mins is not a lot. But Lin shows his true value in every minute. He is as good as $20M Butler, if not better yet.

    • John Lee

And chances are MJ’s no Dolan, who let Jeremy walk away for nothing.

    • CaliUSMC

Wow…just realized how short Walker is in comparison to Lin.

    • real-dsb

Actually, many opposing team announcers give Lin a lot of respect (genuinely saying that he is a very good player, without the backhanded compliments).

But anyways, I prefer disrespect for Lin because then they will be caught off guard.

I do not like teams that respect Lin (like Miami Heat), who game plan to shut down Lin’s game.

    • TankLakers

only one TO. How many points Butlers got when Lin defended?

Comments from Charlotte Hornets game tonight about lin

      Kswiss wrote:

KM6 wrote:Can we call that 2 mil per year contract of Lin’s “ridiculous”? 18/5/8 in 24 minutes with 8 shot attempts and 1 TO.
I thought he was underpaid last year for 15 mil when Kobe was making 25 lol but if he’s happy and wanted to come here, I’m all for it. He makes a ton of money from endorsements so I’m sure he’ll be fine financially. Plus I’m honestly loving the way this team plays so I’d much rather watch him on a team that is trying to win rather than shamelessly benching their best player to ensure losses. The Lakers are the new 76’rs

Honestly for folks that have been watching Lin player they know he can easily start for many NBA teams. Offense simply looks smoother when he is the PG. I doubt Lin came to Charlotte for that $2m salary. I am sure he will be paid after this season. Hornets sure looks like a great fit if they keep playing this kind of basketball.

    • Alain Gervais

He was playing similar to this second haif of last year. Although he has gotten even better at that way of playing. Linprime is here

    • GoJLin!

Especially Lin list as ESPN’s Top Performer for the Hornets on this game!

    • LAJane

It was very physical and I was impressed by Jeremy’s aggression. Guy’s were grabbing and holding and body-checking and he seemed solid to hold them off easily. He just seems physically very strong. I’m no expert, so please advise, but it also looked like his ball-handling was really terrific. He’s looking so fluid and confident and masterful.

    • BUZZCITY17

      Lin’s jumpshot is so pure

    • real-dsb

Well, they only highlighted 2 players: Kemba and Butler. No other players mentioned, so it wasn’t a direct slight at Lin.

Looks like it’s just lazy journalism. They looked at who had the highest points from each team and pulled some clips of those players.

They didn’t even cover the ESPN Top Performers (which is just some computer formula): which were Taj Gibson and Lin.

    • your son’s voltaire

lol thought it was Wayne’s World

    • real-dsb

It was really just a Kemba and Butler highlight clip, no other Bulls or Hornets were featured.

    • real-dsb

How will they come out if their feet are in their mouth? 😉

    • Briiick

So true. Lin is very talented in picking up footwork. He posted up with the Dream’s footwork when in Rox.

    • LAJane

Makes no sense. Right hand and left hand don’t know one another.

    • sport

Lowering his release and jumping height was the right decision. Now his shots are more consistent and his legs are less fatigue due to jumping too high. Lin still need to work more on his 3 point shots and free throws but his mid jumpers are solid.

    • JJ Hui

I remember that too! But Brooks is better in Chicago than in Houston!

    • real-dsb

      no, 3.5 + 3 is at least 6.5″ diff!

    • blubell

      This is it

    • KHuang

First COACHING FAIL by Steve Clifford.

Had Clifford played Tyler Hansbrough, this game would never have been this hard to win and the Hornets would have won by at least 20.

Lin got in early foul trouble by unsuccessfully trying to protect Charlotte’s overmatched inside players. Then Lin had to beast on the boards because the wimpy Charlotte big men were being outquicked and overpowered.

Hansbrough has successfully bashed up Noah and Gibson in hard fought games in the past. He’d have come in and erased that horrific 40-19 rebounding deficit in the first half. And Hansbrough would have gotten plenty of points and rebounds against Chicago, just like Hansbrough has in the past.

If I were coach, I’d start Hansbrough every game.

    • LAJane

      good idea…no click assists 🙂

    • Briiick

Yeah. They were badly out rebounded in the 1st half. All coaches have preferences, and the smarter ones keep adjusting with the reality.

    • John Lee

It is curious, how Clifford is very high on Marvin Williams and Hansbrough gets zero love.

    • As I saw the Bulls feasted on the boards, I also thought of Hansbrough to counter them.

I think Coaches wanted to experiment with the big lineup (Zeller/MWill/Al/Hawes) tonight but it failed.
We might see some Hansbrough experiment against Pistons big men.

You need to call Rich Cho more often :]

    • Tommy

      somethings just cant be explained
like how mchale loved beverley and Lin got no love

    • KHuang

Oh, it’s a CALCULATED move by Clifford to stick the nonproducing Williams with the starters who aren’t really producing.

    • KHuang

Now THAT is easily explained –

      ASIAN

    • BUZZCITY17

Thank God you’re not the coach!

    • John Lee

Respect for Kswiss. I followed RealGM NYK during Linsanity days, maybe I should give RealGM another look.

    • KHuang

I am dead serious that I’ve never seen ANYBODY stop Tyler Hansbrough for an entire game.

He is the most overpowering forward I’ve seen since Charles Barkley and Karl Malone.

    • KHuang

      Why?

You like your team being badly outrebounded?

    • Tommy

      and Psycho-T is white
I really think hes been underrated because of his skin color
if he was black he be at least a top 5 pick
and coner stone of some team

    • Dan Cohen

well, if lin is the difference maker to help him.. he is andshould also help lin.. I’m all for it.

    • John Lee

Actually, it’s more than JUST Asian. McHale frivolously cut Lin on X’mas Eve, and got mud all over his face when Lin exploded in NY. I’m sure both him and Morey got quite a “nice talk” from Les and tried to ruin Lin’s career to prove themselves “right”.

    • John Lee

Not sure entirely, Kevin Love is white and he gets love (no pun). Sometime it’s timing and luck of the draw.

    • BUZZCITY17

you could tell she likes him

    • blueCypher

yo, starting hansbrough though ? I think not

    • GoodDayLA

Hes not a tyler fan. Seems cho and or mj picked him up. Maybe clifford saving tyler for the future.

    • KHuang

      Absolutely correct.

Hansbrough was one of the greatest college players in NCAA history.

His production is outstanding, and he LED the downtrodden Pacers to the playoffs in the pre Paul George days with a string of brilliant performances.

He put up 20-10 against this Bulls team back then.

    • Tommy

also true but thats a very good point

    • BUZZCITY17

Come on lets be real.. you really think Tyler is a starting caliber PF in this league.. no hes not.. hes better coming off the bench

    • John Lee

Can’t claim that I’m familiar with Hansbrough’s game, but I doubt he’d do much worse than Marv defensively in the low post.

    • BUZZCITY17

now youre bringing race into it.. when it has nothing to do with it.. take your paranoia somewhere else

    • GoodDayLA

      Lol u wish

    • KHuang

Kevin Love fits the stereotype of what scouts think of in a white player: slow, soft, shoots outside, can’t defend, can’t run, can’t jump.

Tyler Hansbrough DEFIES the scouts because he CAN jump, run, play all game without getting tired, defend, block shots, play above the rim, score inside and outside, and overpower people.

    • kauaiblue

      I agree with khuang… maybe u need to reassess…

    • JAD2456

We should promote Hansbrough on Twitter!

    • KHuang

      Post FLAGGED.

    • John Lee

Not advocating frequent race card use, but Lin’s ethnicity had EVERYTHING to do with it, from college application until this very day.

    • BUZZCITY17

calm down… you make Tyler Hansbrough seem like the second coming of Dennis Rodman

    • Tommy

some people say that about Lin too

    • blubell

He’s playing with ease and without a worry in the world. Love his confidence and great to see he is having fun. I want to see more “winning and grinning” as the good Clyde would say 🙂

    • Sinners_Gospel

It was pretty straight forward. Mchale saw his defeat in Jeremy

    • BUZZCITY17

Mchale is a white coach.. beverley is black .. what does race have to do with it?

    • KLove is definitely big due to his offense.

Hansbrough might be seen as limited offensively despite his rebounding prowess.
I think he can be like Ben Wallace, ex-Pistons if he can add blocking abilities.

Not sure if Hansbrough will get a chance with so many big men in CHA.
Lin/Hansbrough would be great, I think

    • Je Ballew

,Hansborough is the leading rebounder on the team. Seventeen in one game and averaging ten per game. Looking at the half time stats a forty t0 nine differential indicating why the game was close.. A blind man could see that rebounds was the primary problem for the Hornets. IMO Clifford is own of the best coaches in the league, but he missed that.

    • John Lee

Which one is Asian, McHale or Bev?

There are more ethnicities beyond white and black, in case you weren’t aware.

    • Alain Gervais

I wouldn’t call it a fail. They won. The presumption tyler would do better is well a presumption. We won played pretty well lets move on

    • Tommy

      white coached are black washed
there are many good white players coming out of college and never get to play under white coaches

    • blueCypher

Clifford postgame interview is on hornets.com

In case it hasnt been posted

    • KHuang

You have NO IDEA who your own Charlotte Hornets player is.

You have no idea that this very same player has been STOMPING all over not just your Charlotte team as a starter but the entire NBA when given a chance.

You don’t even know that when Hansbrough was the Pacers, he was a starter for 30 games for a Pacers team that was sub 0.333 but MADE THE PLAYOFFS because he singlehandedly turned his team around with 20-10 production including against this Bulls team starring Noah and Gibson who couldn’t control him.

Right now this player you dislike is leading your team in rebounding. He has played extremely well, just like I and other veteran NBA experts predicted.

You should learn to appreciate your own player instead of trashing his game.

    • BUZZCITY17

Mchale just liked the hustle and heart from Beverley and he fit better with Harden from his perspective.. also he didnt want Lin taking the shine away from Harden.. nothing to do with race

    • orLinaryjoe

But not a minute of play in this preseason game? Come on.

    • Briiick

Lin is a true star, a cancer detector.

    • Tommy

      check his college stats

    • BUZZCITY17

College is a different game the the NBA my friend

    • John Lee

Bev was somewhere in Russia before Lin was cut, which was before Linsanity, which was before Harden.

    • Briiick

It was Haren and Morey who pulled the strings.

    • BUZZCITY17

So what? Lin was 2 games from being cut before Linsanity… your point?

    • true, MHale’s ego got hurt for releasing Lin the 1st time.
He never likes Lin’s high-risk/high-reward style so there’s personal bias.

    • Tommy

      hes almost 30 lol
and MJ love NC players which he is so makes sense

    • blueCypher

Man, if MKG wasn’t injured we would have the closing 5 of – Kemba Lin MKG Batum Al

    • kauaiblue

Uh, race is a if not THE factor… u need to do some homework and reassess…

    • GoodDayLA

Not impressed with some of pauls comments.

    • John Lee

Point being Asian kid being discriminated. How bad’s your memory?

    • Tommy

it is and its harder to get good stats in college

    • John Lee

Give it up, David Stern himself admitted as much that ethnicity was a factor.

    • IsabeliJane*17

I’m not familiar with Hansbrough’s game but I’ll say the Jeremy-Hansbrough pairing would be like how Jeremy-D-Mo pairing was during the Rockets days, though Tyler is probably more skilled than DMo. I’m going to squash right now the “is it because of the skin color?” counter posts – H*** (bleeping) NO. It’s because how Jeremy has made it work with DMo.

    • GoodDayLA

      Im not

    • BUZZCITY17

I know exactly who Tyler Hansbrough is.. when he lit up for the Tar Heels back in college and have watched him transition to the NBA from the Pacers to the Raptors.. he is an undersized Center.. who doesnt have a jumpshot.. the only thing he has going for him is his hustle and rebounding.. but guess what.. in Todays NBA that is not enough… if youre undersized you need to be able to shoot and his jumpshoot is poor

    • Tommy

dont think race limited Lin in the NBA
but a lot of white kids get overlooked because they are white

    • KHuang

Dmo doesn’t hold a candle to Hansbrough in toughness, skill, athleticism, defense, court intelligence, or inside scoring.

    • Alain Gervais

Coach said he want to get to 9 man rotation.

    • blueCypher

Makes sense, that’s what most nba teams do

    • Tommy

thats also true he needs to develop his jumpshots

    • KHuang

You CLEARLY have NO CLUE what Hansbrough has done in the NBA.

You don’t even know that he beasted more than once against yor Hornets.

Heck, you don’t even know what he did in Toronto.

    • Acbc

I agree Hansbrough could have helped but I also don’t like to bring drama to a team full of nice guys trying to have each other’ back. I even wrote that when Pslams mentioned it. This team needs toughness under the board. I just don’t like when Lin fans call out a coach that could easily negatively impact Lin’s play time.

CLIFFORD HAS BEEN GREAT FOR LIN SO FAR. Let’s not be greedy and bite the hand….

    • BUZZCITY17

Ok lets look at his stats.. last year for the Raptors he posted averages of 3.6 pts and 3.6 reb

the year before that he had averages of 4.6 pts and 4.5 reb

Those are beast stats for you eh? Pretty low standards if you ask me

    • KHuang

If you had watched Hansbrough receive consistent playing time in Indiana like I did, you’d know that Hansbrough can consistently hit jumpshots.

NOBODY in the NBA can consistently hit jumpshots when they’re a DNP-CD from one game to the next.

    • wandertheglobe

I’ll bet you psycho T will have many DNPs this season. Cliff will only use him when his other bigs are in foul trouble. Unfortunately or fortunately, the Hornets are loaded with Bigs.

    • Tommy

walker batum marvin(big mistake cuz coach loves him) zeller al jeff Lin lamb hawes franmski/psycho-T would be my guess

    • BUZZCITY17

He shot below 40% in Indiana… thats consistent shooting?

    • DaBoss

Lin’s play just featured on SportsCenter TV clips here in LA!!!

    • John Lee
    • blueCypher

      which play ?

    • Alain Gervais

he also listed a few players as specialist

    • BUZZCITY17

youre living in the past.. the Glory days of the Tar Heels.. many great college players dont transition into good NBA players.. thats just how it goes..

    • CJSHYY

Really? Wow! Kobe sure will be upset to see it…LOL!

    • DaBoss

several of them – Scott Van Pelt did a short blurb on Lin’s play tonight

    • we can simply respectfully agree to disagree.

KHuang is huge on Hansbrough’s potential but not everyone agrees here. So it’s okay to have different opinions.

    • KHuang

      So what?

Hansbrough has not received consistent playing time.

Even on the Raptors AND this Charlotte team, he’s BEASTED when he receives around 20 mpg.

Don’t even PRETEND that Hansbrough is playing poorly for Charlotte right now. Don’t even try it.

    • blueCypher

Cool, hope someone capped it. What did he say ?

    • IsabeliJane*17

I’m saying it as how Jeremy trusted him and made it work with DMo even if they haven’t played together much and Mc turned a blind eye about it. Jeremy-Tyler pairing would go that same route as well, even if they haven’t played much together.

    • Tommy

      who? if u dont mind

    • wow.. is it about him as an ex-Laker doing well with the Hornets?

    • John Lee

I’d pay real money to see Kobe getting upset over Lin’s success.

    • BUZZCITY17

Thats because Hansbrough is not better than Amir Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas

Hansbrough is not better than Cody Zeller and Al Jefferson

Youre telling me Psycho T are better than those players? DONT EVEN TRY IT

    • DaBoss

It’s really sad … ESPN 710 radio now promoting the Lakers as “Kobe and the Kids”. That’s cuz the BIG BOYS don’t wanna play with Kobe!

    • Riddick

lol…isn’t that like rubbing salt on the wounds of the LA fans?

    • IsabeliJane*17

Blade and Haymitch Abernathy on the same team?

      https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CRuiQG2WwAAEEjA.jpg

      LOL, NY reporter are mean….

    • wow .. that’s pretty bad implying Kobe as “BabySitter” for the kids

    • DaBoss

No – just Scott Van Pelt talking about Jeremy’s good play tonight

    • Alain Gervais

Tyler my be one for special situation frank maybe the second. He didn’t name them but they jump out

    • KHuang

That’s an INSULT to Hansbrough’s accomplishments and his career if I ever heard one.

For you to compare Hansbrough’s brilliant college career to Rodman’s uneven college play is UTTER BLASPHEMY, not just from a basketball standpoint but from a North Carolina Tarheel standpoint?

And Rodman in the NBA? He couldn’t SCORE like Hansbrough does when Hansbrough receieves real minutes.

    • CJSHYY

Haha! I found out it’s really funny. If you check MM’s timeline, I think he is more concern about Lamar than Lakers game… LOL!

    • John Lee

      OUCH! What happened?

    • TTNN
    • KHuang

      Baseless post.

Hansbrough got only one real chance in the NBA, and he HOME RUNNED it.

He’s home running the few minutes that he gets. Too bad if you can’t stomach it.

    • Alain Gervais
    • blueCypher

      lol

    • CJSHYY

      Is he that bad?

    • DaBoss

I didn’t catch the details – just something about a great game and good play with several clips of Jeremy.

    • grover chang

Maybe Clifford is stuck on his big guys also being passers and guys who will stretch the floor. All the clips I see of Hansbrough is him rebounding and dunking. I wonder who wanted Hansbrough, doesn’t seem it was clifford idea. Did MJ see a Rodman in Hansbrough or did MJ just want the North Carolina connection to get butts in the seats. Hornets have bad attendance history.

    • DaBoss

      There you go!!

    • BUZZCITY17

Im talking about the NBA.. not college . do you know how to read?

You are delusional if you think Hansbrough is a better player than Rodman ever was.. that is blasphemous and utterly disrespect to Dennis Rodman one of the best rebounders and defenders of all time..

How do you have the nerve to call Hansbrough a better player than Rodman.. get that garbage out of here.. just arrogance on your part

Your obsession for Hansbrough goes beyond basketball.. its a serious problem you should get it checked out

    • KHuang

He’s BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM.

I followed Hansbrough in Toronto. He didn’t get to play much, but he did a lot with his minutes. Just like he’s doing now.

I go by strictly production. You go by strictly media hype. That’s why you hate me and fire troll insults at me.

Like I lectured you on Lin before, STOP HATING YOUR OWN TEAM’S PLAYER.

    • CaliUSMC

This is all I heard about Porzingis in the pre-season.

    • CJSHYY

W/O Lin, they will not even care about Hornets.

    • wandertheglobe

I think his 9 players rotation will be: Kemba, Batum, M Williams, Jefferson, Zeller, Lin, Lamb, Hawes, Kaminski. The end of the bench are considered specialists: Psycho T, Troy Daniels, Hairston, Roberts Wilkins, and last roster spot.

    • KHuang

When he played for hater coaches that used him irregularly, he shot poorly like any player would.

And if he got more minutes on this Charlotte team, he’d raise his percentages too.

    • BUZZCITY17

his best season with the Pacers was 11 pts and 5.2 reb and he got his minutes.. and than he went downhill from there.. live by the facts die by the facts

    • Alain Gervais

They’ve only played him 19 minutes a game 7 ppg. He needs time. NY’s media is impatient. Lin staying in NY could have been worse for his development

    • blueCypher

this is true, Jlin is box office. no doubt about it

    • Briiick

This sounds like a veeeerrrrry interesting plot.

    • orLinaryjoe

Yes, LA feast your eyes on what you’re missing!

    • Alain Gervais

      yea thats true

    • BUZZCITY17

Kevin Love was the leading rebounder in the NBA before he went to the CAVS… and he is deceptively quick thats how he gets all those rebounds.. how dare you disrespect Kevin love and try to put Tyler Hansbrough in the same sentence as him.. thats is blasphemy

    • I agree. That’s a very reasonable list

    • KHuang

You’ve warned Buzz not to fire personal troll insults in the past.

Tell him that calling people “paranoid” is a violation of this forum’s etiquette.

His basketball beliefs, I have no problem with. His constant personal insults, I have MAJOR PROBLEMS with.

    • BUZZCITY17

and what facts do you base that on? He’s almost 30.. hes not going to get any better

    • orLinaryjoe

More like big boys and grandpa Kobe. First no training, now no preseason games.

    • Alain Gervais

You have your players man. You seem to really believe in them lol.

    • BUZZCITY17

      LOL YOU ARE INSANE !!!

I would take a 22 year old Cody Zeller over an almost 30 year old tyler Hansbrough all day

Amir Johnson is heads over heels more athletic than Tyler Hansbrough and he can actually shoot unlike Tyler

Jonas offsensive game is miles ahead of Tylers and did you just say Tyler is better than Al Jefferson a perennial all star? you are seriously delusional.

You base your opinions on delusions and not mere facts which I am giving you right now

    • KHuang

Hansbrough can put the ball on the floor, has an accurate outside jumper, and has a nice little right handed hook shot that he’ll often fire after a pump fake.

Those are the skills he displayed at North Carolina, and he continues to display them today.

    • BUZZCITY17

he is seriously delusional.. now I get why all the people are saying hes crazy

I am a NOBODY, and my opinion does not count in the NBA.

Besides, I’ve written many many toxic things before: like “Lin is a potential All Star” before Linsanity even broke out.

    • BUZZCITY17

Tyler’s been in the league for almost 7 years.. if he hasnt been a consistent starter in this league there is a reason for that… NBA is a professional league.. if they wanted the best player in the starting line up.. you damn right they are going to be in the starting line up

    • deleted for violating #1 rule to be polite & respectful

    • KHuang

The team wins best when Hansbrough is on the floor.

That’s how it has looked this preseason, and I see no reason why that will not continue.

    • BUZZCITY17

Don’t be name calling here. Take that elsewhere.

    • I agree that Hansbrough offense would need to improve.
Or he can be a blocker/rebounder like Ben Wallace did.

    • Alain Gervais

Khaung is usually stats based. He knows a lot about ball. Knows about players I’ve never heard of. Having convection in your ideas isn’t a bad thing

    • BUZZCITY17

lol no way is Hansbrough going to be like Ben Wallace.. disrespectful to put those 2 in a sentence together

    • BUZZCITY17

Stop it dude.. just give up already

    • JLin fans are no longer in preseason form :]
We’re ready for the big games

    • Briiick

Yeah. It is party here every night.

    • Jeremy Lin showed, again, tonight that he is clearly THE BEST Hornets so far this preseason. In EVERY SINGLE SITUATION not involving Jeremy Lin, the best player on the team starts NO MATTER WHAT. No team reasons that their best player is needed with the second unit or is going to be a lethal weapon off the bench. NONE. Yet, when it comes to Lin, people (including coaches) make all sorts of excuses (going out of their way and contorting reason) for not starting THEIR BEST PLAYER. These arguments may be well-meaning, but they are misguided and I go into detail as to why in a lengthy article as well as lengthy comment replies: http://www.jeremylintel.com/2015/10/14/why-arguments-that-jeremy-lin-is-needed-with-the-second-unit-is-still-misguided/

    • BUZZCITY17

Theres one thing to have conviction and another thing to be completely biased in your opinions.. he is of the latter.. if you want to say Hansbrough is the best big man in this league.. you need to bring Stats and proof.. no one is going to believe you if you just holler and scream.. there has to be facts to your statements

Thats like if I said Im a millionaire.. no one is going to believe me unless I bring statements of my money right?

    • Acbc

Khaung, you have high jack this site to your own obsession with Hansbrough. I have nothing against giving him time to help with toughness and rebounding but THIS IS A LIN SITE. I’m not happy that you are creating all this drama and getting people hyped about someone not named Lin. I’m upset that you make it your agenda to promote someone not named Lin and it is very divisive. Please stop.

    • zxcvb

Blame MJ. With Jefferson still on the team, there’s no minutes for Hansbrough.

I hate how this team STILL revolves around Jefferson, MKG and Kemba. It’s outdated loser ball while Lin, Batum, Kaminsky are playing winning team ball.

    • real-dsb

I think rockets was worse. At least Melo is a forward.

    • Alain Gervais

      stats wise yes.

    • GoodDayLA

Fred Holberg is a rookie coach novice and doesn’t know Jlin at all. You cannot guard Lin with a small little guard. Any coach that does that should be FIRED. Its why I want Lin to play 1 so he can overpower every guard or let his teammate guard who is 6 foot 6 pummel the 6 foot guard.

It’s the same reason I don’t trust Kemba and he’s 6 foot! Small guards don’t work in the big boy NBA.

    • GoodDayLA

he’s Asian. it is what it is. they don’t want to let an asian guy shine and rock the nba as a star. It’s too threatening.

    • Maknusia

      wow…and thats without @Brent Yen:disqus!

      sigh…missed today’s game…..i sucked at preseason

    • Alain Gervais

Your right there. Check my comment below. Idk how tyler would of played. My guess is we will see over the course of the season

    • Alain Gervais

Kirk could out because of lin. They threw everything at him.

    • Sparko

It’s only preseason. He also did well in preseason last year.

    • zxcvb

I can’t blame him. The only players who can defend Lin when properly used are SFs — Kawhi and Batum. And Nic is on Jeremy’s side now!

    • zxcvb

For all intents and purposes, they are the “Charlotte Lins” this season.

    • BUZZCITY17

not as well as this year

    • GoodDayLA

you can only guard Lin on the Bulls with Snell or Butler. I like these dumb coaches who use a 5 foot 8 midget to cover Lin.

If this disrespect keeps up, Lin will look like Michael Jordan.

    • Acbc

Lol, “yes sir” two words Brent!

    • steven ko

that’s my concern coming into this season. hornets’ big men look overmatched on the boards

    • Sparko

True but there’s a lot of experimentation that goes on in preseason. When things settle down and rotations locked in. I want to see Lin perform the way he’s performing now before I really believe he’s turned the corner.

    • Exactly the problem. He should have started last year (and could have had good year if he started), but Lakers wanted to tank (Lin actually played well last year for what he was given). So I understand rational for not starting Lin last year.

This year makes no sense to me, but a lot more Lin fans are on-board with not starting Lin this year, even though it actually makes THE LEAST amount of sense for Lin to come off the bench with THIS Hornets team than Lin’s situation in the past, as I outline in detail in my article and comments to my article. I think some Lin fans may just be drunk on the fact that Lin is in a good situation, so willing to go along with whatever. It is very true that Lin is in a great situation with Hornets no matter what, but it’s still a HUGE INSULT TO RATIONALITY if Jeremy Lin doesn’t start.

    • GoodDayLA

u are right. btw, Lin could been doing this the last 3 seasons.

    • Brent Yen

Well, we did see Lin’s teammates guarding Lin b4….figuratively speaking…LOL

    • LAJane

Oh dear. Don’t say that outside of our protected circle here 🙂 Don’t want to rain down any more annoyance on J’s head. Even if it is true 😀

    • Brent Yen

      Yes sir!

    • KHuang

Vaunted ex Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau single covered Lin for 4 SEASONS.

That’s why Lin historically has beaten up on the Bulls.

See, Eastern Conference opponents who only see Lin twice the year literally DON’T REMEMBER that Lin torches them consistently if he’s single covered.

That should changed this season as Eastern Conference opponents get REPEATEDLY BURNED the way Lin did to the West for the last 3 seasons.

    • Acbc

Harden was really really good, but Kobe was the one that could really shut Lin down. Lol

    • KHuang

Batum couldn’t guard Lin either when Lin got SERIOUS.

And now that Lin’s no longer playing in a standstill outdated 80s iso system, Leonard won’t be able to truly guard Lin either.

    • Brent Yen

Yeah…the 5 time champ is really good at it

    • Ben Johnson

Contrast this with Pop, who wisely put the top perimeter defender in the league, Kawaii Leonard, on JLin last year…

The NY media wanted Lin OUT.

    • John Lee

Exactly, respect is more evident shown rather than spoken.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

MKG can’t shoot, so that starting 5 would have hurt team spacing….Still feel MKG is a great asset to have on your team…He can shut down the opposition best player and that in itself is valuable enough to any team.

    • KHuang

      Yes and no.

Porzingis is playing like your typical wildly overrated high lottery pick.

No, Kobe Bryant did not have the athleticism or footspeed or fundamentals to be GOAT.

    • GoodDayLA

I like Kemba. I’m just not a small guard fan. If he was 6 foot 3 or bigger, id have no issue with him at PG starting over Lin.

    • KHuang

This is probably what Clifford was thinking of when he compared Lin and Walker to Curry and Thompson – not that Currry and Thompson have even come close to playing as well as Lin and Walker this particular preseason!

    • Acbc

One was slick and the other was stickum. None is helpful, lol

    • heart

It’s clear as noon day for me now that Lin must start. He said so himself that he’s a combo guard and has no problem playing SG. I sense there is resistance to start Lin, but whatever it is the impossible will become possible, and Linsanity 2.0 will happen in God’s timing. I have to believe that Lin’s hard work will not be in vain.

    • John Lee

Lin and Harden’s first ever game together…combined 66 pts, second game 49. Stupid Morey, Lin/Harden would’ve DOMINATED the league.

    • KHuang

Small guards don’t work in the NBA?

Tell that to Tony Parker who’s won multiple championships as a small guard.

    • Briiick

This is the downside of a clutch player: in order to make the most critical shots, he has to miss some easy shots.

    • joyce ward

My take on lin’s FT is he was tired, the game was won and it’s the preseason which doesn’t count. Also lin has figured out that he is the best player on this team,no need to rub it in team mates faces..just my thoughts

    • zxcvb

I noticed he rushed the FTs he missed (since it doesn’t matter like you said). Game was iced either way.

    • Ben Johnson

was probably still a little sick also

    • sws94

I really don’t think it had anything more to do than he was tired and loss focus. Hitting his FTs wouldn’t have been rubbing it in, really. He and Kemba had around the same amount of points if they hit their FTs. It just took Kemba twice as many shots to get them.

    • zxcvb

The only other CHA guard who has impressed this preseason is Roberts. And it may not be a fluke. I looked at his two seasons before he came to the Hornets and he was a really solid backup.

Clifford wants a 9-man rotation? Without politics, it should be: Lin, Kemba, Batum, Zeller, Hawes, Williams, Roberts, Kaminsky with Hansbrough and Lamb battling for the final spot.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

isaiah Thomas would have rebuked you.
Calvin Murphy would have laughed at you.

    • joyce ward

      Good point

    • Acbc

This is consistent with Lin. I still remember how Lin chastised Beverley for making a scene for late layup on a total blowout. Winning is lol about the test and not about embarrassing the opposition.

    • blueCypher

I think it was just one of those bad FT shooting nights

    • LAJane

Why stop? It’s an interesting conversation. We’re not all here just to hear the echoing sound of our own opinions. “Diversity is the spice of life” may be a platitude…but it’s pretty much true nonetheless.

    • John Lee

Ever heard of Muggsy Bogues? Earl Boykins? Spud Webb?

    • sws94

I agree to an extent. But his ball-handling looks more sure and his shot more fluid. Lin is due for a bad shooting game, he’s been shooting really well in the pre-season. I think he will show marked improvement but there may still be a few games where he struggles when targeted.

    • Steppen03

      Helloooo, fellow JL7 fans,
HOOWOO!!! 6-0, baby! It’s preseason but a win is a win and we just Keep On Rolliing into the regular season and Never Touch On The Brakes !!
On other notes: Lakers is having a very nice game over the Blazers (guess why?? No Kobe…. haha.). JC is some talent. I like him. We like Lin’s teammates just not the coaches.

    • John Lee

Clarkson can become a decent SG, but he is not PG material.

    • zxcvb

      1) Not nearly as well.
      2) BS let him play his game during preseason. But when Nash went down it was KOBE BALL. Then TANK BALL when Kobe went down.

    • sws94

He hasn’t impressed me that much. He can score but he didn’t really set his team mates up or control the flow of the offense. He has good handles but shoots too much for a PG and I’m not that sure about his defense.

    • sws94

More SG than PG though he can play the PG in stints. Shouldn’t be a starting PG.

    • zxcvb

He’s good enough for a 15mpg backup. If Clifford staggers Lin and Batum’s minutes, playmaking will never be an issue.

    • John Lee

He can be 5’11” for all I care if he passes like Nash. 🙂

    • GoodDayLA

so how many collective championships did those guys win? When I complain, I’m looking at it in terms of Lin winning and competing for an NBA title. He’s that good.

I already know Lin can get stats and do his thing. I want him to win an NBA title.

    • sws94

      15 mpg, yes. Good enough.

    • zxcvb

For Lin, the hardest part of a 50/40/90 season is the last number. By far! His 3pt% keeps climbing no matter what, and if properly used in PnRs, his FG% will go way up. But I don’t see him ever breaking 85% on FTs.

    • Acbc

Sorry it was just word play….Kobe was never ever GOAT. Who would you esteem to be one.

    • GoodDayLA

Isiah was taller than Kemba. Six one in that era was todays 6 foto 3. Calvin didn’t win nothing

    • John Lee

They’re not elite, but they were quality guards. By your logic John Stockton wasn’t any good either since he has no rings? Not a very good metric, see?

    • Acbc

      So true.

    • Steppen03

Respects are to be earned and JL7 has owned that since the start. If they have true chemistry it doesn’t matter who does better or scores more. Personal stats are out the door. “All For One, One For All.” Love my Musketeers. Let us see some BB musketeers on the Hornets.

    • GoodDayLA

Stockton is the most overhyped player. He was bigger than Kemba and in that era, a six foot 1 guard was today’s 6 foot 3 PG

    • Hoiberg had no choice.
Hinrich got 3 fouls on JLin trying to be over-aggressive to beat his speed.
The last one got him fouled out.

    • GoodDayLA

      snell? Butler?

    • GoodDayLA

i think you miss my point. Heinrich and Aaron should never be guarding Lin at all. PERIOD

    • GoodDayLA

Lakers look very good without Kobe. They should move on.

    • Acbc

      UR killing me, lol

    • John Lee

      Fine, you asked for it.

      1) Calvin Murphy – 5’9″ former All-Star
      2) Isiah Thomas – 5’9″ former All-Star AND NBA champion

      Any further questions? 🙂

    • CJSHYY
    • John Lee

      Djangos Unchained – Part Deux.

    • John Lee

Not to mention leadership…or lack thereof.

    • I watched the 1st 2 misses and also previous game.

I think it’s just a matter of focus. Sometimes he tried to play loose which works but then it affects the concentration on FT shooting. Perhaps he just needs a routine like Nash to get the rhythm down.

    • GoodDayLA

      he is their Russel Westbrook.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

The same thing also happened to good players like Nic Batum.

    • John Lee

Westbrook has good passing game, Clarkson has zero.

    • I think Snell got the last foul on JLin.
      Not so sure about Butler.

Today JLin was especially good in driving to the paint. I just watched that floater/high layup.
It was against Joakim Noah who was too late to rise up trying to block him.

I got your point that Hoiberg should never put smaller guy on JLin but he might’ve thought Brooks speed can keep up with JLin.

    • orLinaryjoe

You must be looking forward to retirement of said player.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

how aboutTiny Archibald. The list can go on

    • GoodDayLA

i always attributed it to him getting beat up on drives and body still tingling. he is a good but not excellent FTer

    • KHuang

Clarkson could not play true SG in the NBA.

He wouldn’t know how to cut off the ball or defend the position.

    • GoodDayLA

any time you see a guard SMALLER than Lin, know this: A. the coach is really not bright B. Lin will have a HUGE night.

    • GoodDayLA

Isiah thomas is six foot 1. Give me a break

    • Acbc

Limpossible is nothing. If there is one thing I do know, athletes have limits set by only their self belief and imagination.

    • GoodDayLA

Nate was six foot 1, todays six foot 3 guard.

    • GoodDayLA

Isiah Thomas will get slaughtered by Lin if he tries to guard Lin. You are a fool. His offense doesn’t offset Lin pummeling him.

    • GoodDayLA

It’s a matchup nightmare. Lin cannot guard Klay, who will bully him. Bemba too small to cover Curry like Lin does. That’s why Lin is best at 1 with a big 2 guard as partner.

We’ll see if Clifford can design a way where Lin is almost impossible to guard on the other end or free up Kemba to go for 50 barely covered.

    • GoodDayLA

Parker is taller than Kemba. And he has Tim Duncan on his team. And his career backcourt mate is six foot six Manu, classic sized SG.

    • blubell
    • KHuang

We diehard Lin fans know too well that Lin doesn’t have to be tired to BRICK free throws at a Shaq rate.

    • KHuang

Lin bricks when he loses focus.

He let the first half fouls mess with his head.

    • KHuang

Oh, you mean Lin can’t guard Thompson the way you said Lin could not guard Butler?

For the record, Thompson has been SHUT DOWN when matched against Lin.

    • GoodDayLA

a smart coach like Pop and Clifford get it. Put a BIG athletic wing on Lin. Its your only chance to slow Lin down.

    • Maknusia

but he was 5-9 today…so was kinda wondering

    • GoodDayLA

Clakrson is not seasoned yet. He’ll be better.

    • Jedi

Vote everyday on multiple social media you mean…
and then have the NBA just delete 200,000 of his votes for fun.

    • Briiick

This shows how talented Lin is in BB. He can change his stroke in one summer and make significant improvement.

    • KHuang

      Not likely.

Once a young player feels entitled because he’s artificially handed shots and minutes that he hasn’t earned, that usually damages that player’s long term future in the NBA.

    • GoodDayLA

“He’s bigger and better than me but I will never admit it to myself or anyone else.”

    • Dorothy

      Harden?

    • JLinForum shared his observation watching the game in person tonight
      https://twitter.com/jlinforum/status/656326343282532352

    • KHuang

      Good statement by Walker.

Lin probably enjoys having Walker as a teammate too.

    • GoodDayLA

Walker is a h*** of a team guy. I cannot hate on him personally at all. Lin lucked out in the teammate lottery this season.

    • KHuang

At least Harden had to EARN his shots in OKC.

      Clarkson hasn’t even done that.

    • I like how Kemba/Lin/Batum played in the crunch time & JLin delivered when defending Butler. So his value would skyrocket to be able to defend the best perimeter player.

However, we all know Lin can do this in the right system or giving the opportunity and freedom to play his game. His offense didn’t surprise me, his defense did. I know Lin is not as bad in defense as others make it seem, but I could tell how much he has improved his defense tonight. He was responsible for at least 3 deflections and 1 steal. In addition, he grabbed 8! rebounds and 2 of those were offensive rebounds. He was just all over the floor. The key for me was in the last stretch when Kemba, Lin and Batum were in the backcourt and Lin was given the responsibility to defend Butler who was lighting it up at the beginning of the game. Lin did a phenomenal job on Butler. I recall one play where Butler got a fake-screen to get the ball in the post, Lin fought through and instead of getting behind Butler he quickly got in-front to prevent the entry pass and the bulls play got broken off.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

ESPN shows the highlights of the game with only Kemba Walker shooting 3s over the Bulls.
How deep is the hate on Jeremy? They did mention Lin got 18 points and 8 rebounds though. Did anyone mention that Walker make no assist but Lin made 5?

Walker, Lin lead unbeaten Hornets over Bulls 94-86 (official from nba)http://www.nba.com/games/20151019/CHICHA/gameinfo.html

    • CJSHYY

This is really good. I just read it now. I like these two section.

Lin checked in for the first time as a Hornets to the locals. And to my big surprise he got a pretty nice “ovation”, if you could call it that, as he checked in. This happened once again when Lin checked in at the end of the third quarter. It seems clear to me that Lin is already a fan favorite in Charlotte.

      Lin’s Leadership

We have seen glimpses of Lin’s on-court leadership in the last 3 years. However, these skills have been muted by superstars like Harden, McHale, Kobe, Scott and even Parsons. Tonight, Lin was in control of both the offense and defense. He was outspoken, giving plays and communicating with his teammates. This was great to see. It shows how comfortable and free he feels with his new team and how much this group is coming together. I didn’t see him taking the clipboard out of Clifford’s hands though, which is a good thing cause it might mean that Clifford knows what he is doing, not like *cough*Mchale*cough*.

    • GoodDayLA

Clarkson has looked very good athletically this season. It will keep him employed.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Sense or no sense it will not change reality. No one promised a $2mil player to takeover the position of their franchise player. The only thing we can hope now is his future which looks very promising.

    • Briiick

      No Lin no click.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! In 4Q when Lin guarded Butler, he could not score.

    • GoodDayLA

I believe Charlotte will go 2-3 in the first 5 games and then go on fire.

    • Maknusia

please refrains from personal attack…last warning

    • Arsenium12 .

Two photos of Lin’s hair tonight …
      __________

    • Chris B.

Walker seems like a genuine and humble guy. Just don’t like some of his choice of shots though.

    • CJSHYY

Never mind about this… sooner or later they have to show Lin. Like it or not…

    • Maknusia

please refrains from personal attack…last warning..

    • GoodDayLA

btw I know why you like T Hans. But I do think he is an offensive liability. I’ve watched him play over the years and he is not a star PF. He’s also lost some athleticms. But he could be a h*** of a blue collar role player.

He’s a great change of pace physical big man and Clifford should play this guy 10-15 minutes depending on the matchup.

    • GoodDayLA

the only thing I like about Walker is he can dribble and move. Lin needs some relief on the perimeter.

    • GoodDayLA

      u are right on this.

    • Chris B.

I just hate these arguments that Lin can’t guard such and such guards. Every times they hand him a supposedly superior SG, Jeremy has played admirably…First it was Wade and Gerald Green, then it was Reddick, and now it’s Butler. Bring it on and let him play. How can you make a blank statement like that until you have given him a change to match up with those players you feared?

    • Chris B.

Yes…that is why Lin needs to play with starters. I hate seeing him getting doubled or trippled team when he runs the second unit.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Tyler is a great addition for back to back games.

    • Reddit thread had high praise for JLin:
      https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/3pfjqc/preseason_post_game_charlotte_hornets_defeat/

      – Jeremy Lin on a tear right now.
Lin defended Butler great in the 4th.
      – Linsanity, 18/5/8 in 24 mins
For those that didn’t watch the game, that’s 5 assists and 8 rebounds. The Hair Hustle is real.
When you are 7ft tall (with hair), you can get every rebound.
      lin’s still a guard right?
he’s more of a center than some of our bigs (lookin’ at you, Frank)
18 pts on only 8 shots taken too.
-If Lin and Kemba can do have better chemistry, man I have high expectations for the seaosn!
      lin goes goku mode
-Jimmy Butler continues to suck and prove me right.
Charlotte looking like champs though. Had all the faith in the world in my boy Lin. I’m hoping he gets his first All Star nod this year. Lowry, Lin, Wall, Beal, Rose. I can smell it.
That would be quite strange if the backup gets all star over the starter.

    • CJSHYY

Haha! When you are 7ft tall (with hair), you can get every rebound.lin’s still a guard right?

    • Maknusia

yup that was a good one!

    • No one is suggesting Lin start over Walker. But it looks like Cliff is gonna go with Walker/Batum/Williams starting lineup, which, to me is GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY not to start Lin. You’re forcing Batum, one of the biggest keys to the team to play off position. Batum is ideal at the 3. Big mistake to play Batum at the 2. So the Walker/Lin/Batum starting lineup makes a lot of sense, yet, coach may be going out of his way not to start Lin. Not saying that Cliff has anything against Lin. But due to the realities of Lin’s situation, which I cover in my article in detail, Lin is seen as 6th man no matter how well he does, even though he’s clearly the best player for Hornets.

    • blubell

I don’t like The Hair is getting all the credit. Jeremy will be benched backing up The Hair soon! Hairsanity vs Linsanity. LOL.

    • Acbc

      Great comment

    • blubell
    • Maknusia

      Sir, Yes

    • Yeah, I noticed this, as well. Psycho-T doesn’t seem to get much respect from Cliff. It’s unfortunate, but I don’t think he’ll see much playing time.

    • Acbc

      “Lumberjack” Mchale, lol

    • GoodDayLA

well the NBA is trying to promote him as much as ESPN wants to ignore him. It’s fun to see.

    • orLinaryjoe

Jlin’s hair to stay! Jlin’s here to stay!

    • Derek Kong

Guys, I just watched Sports Center in San Fran and they only showed Kemba shooting and scoring! I am telling you as long as you aren’t a starter, no one will give you credit. : (

    • blubell

Can they share the ball? Do they have good chemistry? haha.

    • Acbc

Lol, I got it. Kinda bugs bunny/loony tune.

    • GoodDayLA

      fair enough, let Lin try.

    • GoodDayLA

      go Lin!

    • orLinaryjoe

Best backcourt duo, or hair as 6th man.

    • orLinaryjoe

Son of Voltaire wanted to name him hairemy lin, lol.

    • Acbc

Lin fans care more about credit than Lin himself. The only thing that matters to him is playtime, win shares and team wins.

    • Rick Johnson

      Edit: duplicate

    • blubell

It’s contract year for the hair. It will be gone by next summer 🙂

    • blubell

      This could get hairy…

    • orLinaryjoe

This is definitely growing on me AND on Jeremy.

    • orLinaryjoe

All star hair by popular fan vote.

    • Acbc

      That would be re-Voltairng. Lol

    • orLinaryjoe

LOL. Good to smile and laugh as Lin fans again!

    • orLinaryjoe

      Lingoku mode. I like!

    • John Lee

      Wrong Isaiah, dang the impostor!

    • John Lee

      Kemba’s 6’1″, no?

Also, stop with the didn’t win anything argument. Many Hall of Famers didn’t have rings. That criterion alone does not mean they’re not quality players.

    • CJSHYY

But LA showed Lin?! Well, NBA sent out the tweets on Lin… so….

    • John Lee

Skills get better, talent does not. Clarkson is already showing improvement on his shooting, especially compared to his atrocious start in last preseason. However, court vision is not something one all of a sudden develops AFTER getting into NBA. Also, once the chucking mentality sets in, it’s a done deal.

Though Clarkson may be a Westbrook wannabe, his chucking ways scream mini-Kobe minus the occasional passing.

    • DaBoss

Hmmm … LA broadcast showed several clips of Lin with Scott Van Pelt saying he had a good game!

    • John Lee

Oh yes, Clarkson will stay in the league no doubt, but he will not be known for PG skills.

    • zxcvb

Last postgame, Clifford talked about how he likes playing Lin, Lamb, Zeller and Hawes together.
This postgame, Clifford talked about how he likes playing Lin, Kemba and Batum together.

He seems undecided. Or maybe it’s not up to him (cough, MJ, cough).

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Jeremy Lin played the entire 4Q and helped blew the Bulls away. Jeremy boosted the 1 point lead to 5 points lead until Kemba Walker checked in with 6:48 minutes left for the game. Then Kemba, Batum, Lin, Big Al all contributed to pull away by 10 points and won the game for the Hornets.

    • zxcvb

Marvin Williams sets great screens. That’s so important. He definitely deserves to be in the rotation.

    • I checked out Bulls RealGM comments on JLin.
I think he earned their respect

      http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1410492&start=60#start_here

      – Every big we had outrebounded the top Charlotte rebounder, who was Lin with 6. Lin was 18/6/5 off the bench with but 1 TO, he was great.
Actually, Lin had 8 rebounds, which isn’t bad for a guard.
      – 3 of the above were PGs (Kirk/Brooks/Moore) who were simply PATHETIC all game long while they made Kemba and Lin look like Chris Paul out there.
      – Their PGs (Kemba and Lin) scored 40, ours (Kirk, Brooks, Moore) scored 6 points on 20 shots. That was enough to kill excellent games from all 4 bigs.

    • GoodDayLA

um you got your facts and figures wrong. Pointless to keep talking.

    • blubell

Jeremy doing a lot of damage in the preseason 🙂

    • GoodDayLA

yes he is listed as that. looks shorter than that to me but who knows

    • John Lee

Oh no, please do not forsake me you saint of a human who has NEVER EVER made a mistake in life.

Whatever shall I do without your flawless logic?

Oh wait, you just said Kemba’s six foot, but he’s actually listed as 6’1″, could it be…?

    • CJSHYY

Haha~ Feel so good & this is really great for tomorrow’s working day. LOL!

    • GoodDayLA

CP3 aint got nothing on Lin

    • Broadcasters will slowly respect Lin game as their stat sheets will reflect he’s the best CHA player.

      https://twitter.com/thesuitedmonk88/status/656305018618912769

    • CJSHYY

This is from Bulls… in fact, I read somewhere said they even said Lin was traded from Lakers?! They never read any news outside of Chicago?! smh!

    • GoodDayLA

best players start in the NBA. until that happens no way

    • Kwok Wai Lai

The negativity towards Jeremy is so obvious and yet Jeremy is listed as the top performer of the game ahead of Kemba Walker in the game. It’s a team victory though because in the final minutes both Batum, Walker, Big Al and Lin contributed to pull the game away for good.

    • John Lee

      Nothing new under the sun…

    • just the current situation with Kemba as the de facto PG
If JLin keeps playing hot, they’d have to decide if they want to pay.

My prediction: the dual PG would happen sooner than later since Kemba benefits from JLin.
Kemba likes his easy points too.

    • GoodDayLA

really like Lin’s free throw layup. He might not be able to dunk on people but that’s an impressive move. Delladova my a$$

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin, Kemba and Batum are great combination because they are both unselfish and they make plays from what the opponents give to them.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

NBA does not promote Lin as much as ESPN trying to shadow him with his teammates.

    • LOL at dejected Bulls players’ face from NBA video as JLin drained his midrange 🙂
      #LinTheZone

you got to wonder what’s the holdup. I think Charlotte management is in disbelief Lin is this good. The NBA is totally clueless.

Clifford and Silas knew though. They knew. Kudos to them for showcasing him to his strengths too for the most part.

    • blubell

I’m watching the game right now and when Jeremy got an assist, the Hornet’s court announcer said “From Jeremy Lin”! This is the first time since NY.

    • Hornets is ranked #2 in PPG allowed (after MEM). Very impressive even after losing their best defensive player in MKG
This is very promising for possibility of higher playoff seed.

    • Accurate analysis of AtTheHive article:

      http://www.atthehive.com/2015/10/19/9571997/charlotte-hornets-pull-away-late-to-beat-the-chicago-bulls-94-86

… In his place, Jeremy Lin stepped in, scoring eight points and four assists in the first half. Lin had a strong game overall, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, shooting six for eight from the field.

The rotation seems to be coming more and more together. Aside from Zeller, the starters all played close or over 30 minutes, and Clifford used a lineup of Walker, Lin, Batum, Williams, and Jefferson late in the game. While the likes of Zeller, Lamb, and Hairston are in line for a starting spot, don’t be surprised to see a lineup featuring Lin and Williams late in the game. Lin and Walker have shown thus far they can play together in the same backcourt, which is very encouraging.

While the Hornets managed to hold on for the win tonight, multiple possessions looked a little stagnant compared to games past in preseason. The Walker hero-ball of last year showed itself briefly, and Batum was not involved in many of possessions. Habits are hard to break, but getting the ball into other players hands, particularly with Batum and Lin, should generate better shot opportunities late in the game. Walker relied on hero-ball often last season because he had no other choice — this season he doesn’t have to.

    • maybe Taj Gibson LOL
in the video, he rubbed his video shaking his head right after JLin drained the jumper & ran back smiling widely

    • blubell

Someone is busy tonight delivering us game reports from various sources. Thank you, Psalm! Great to see positive reports 🙂

    • TTNN

Well, that’s Bull’s announcer, I was listening to the radio, Hornets announcer is really nice to Lin, lots of good words about him. Talking about him has good feel of the game, have good sense about space and time, and good control of shot clock etc. Really nice.

    • I think players have healthy respect of what damage JLin can do with his speed & shooting

    • TTNN

yeah, I noticed too, he is not that strong, but he works hard to hold his position, really nice. Somehow I feel he plays harder when he is playing with Lin, not sure its my imagination or what, but I do feel that way.

    • With 2 preseason games left, I’m curious to see what reaction this game got.
I’m confident Coach Clifford highly valued JLin contribution in crunch time, especially defense on Butler. That’s huge since defense is Coach C’s calling card.

Even if JLin doesn’t start, he’s going to finish for sure.
      Linning is contagious LOL

      I’m happy with my findings

    • It’s tricky politically.

JLin is showing as a better playmaker but CHA can’t easily change Kemba’s role since they will lose his trade values (if necessary) or get an anxious Kemba. (i.e. going hero-ball briefly tonight icing Batum)

We just have to be patient. As long as JLin gets lots of PT to play his game, that’s all that he cares.
It will translate to big moments to close out games.

Coach C has to ensure that noone feel threatened that they don’t buy in his “move-the-ball” system
If they win a lot early, everyone will be happy.

    • GoodDayLA

people are going to be traded this season.

just rewatch the game, that line up was really good defensively too.

Please per 36 is fake projections. Go with real stats

    • John Lee

Au contraire, PER36 is a normalized metric (that isn’t, but should be widely used) so that players getting low PT minutes also have a chance to stand out.

Lin fans, out of all people, should know of its importance, especially after the BS fiasco.

 As Kemba mentioned in his interview…
the game is easier when he’s sharing the court with Lin. There’s less of a burden for him to do certain things because Lin can do them too. Kemba and Lin provide a dual scoring threat, and the passing and spacing is better when they’re on the same rotation.

 The defense tonight with both of them was pretty good too
Kemba is a defender who can hold his own against most point guards in the league but I was pleasantly surprised by Lin’s defense on Butler in the 4th. If he can keep that up the end of game backcourt should be without a doubt Kemba and Lin.

 Linsanity was a mix of 40% offense and 60% defense. Though in fans

Jeremy Lin came off the bench to tally preseason highs in both points (18) and rebounds (8) and also led the Hornets with a team-high five assists

      Hornets Player of the Game
Jeremy Lin had a stellar performance off the bench as he finished with a preseason-high 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, a preseason-high and team-high eight rebounds and another team-high five assists in 25 minutes of play. Lin has now scored in double figures in all five preseason games that he has played.

    • Acbc

The handicap helps the unskilled players like myself (16) to compete against a 5 handicap. The idea is to measure improvement as opposed to final net score. I would get 1 extra stroke per hole out of the toughest 16 holes while the 5 handicap would only get a stroke on 5 of the toughest holes.

In the case of per 36, a player is measured by projected scoring based upon results times how much time it takes for him to score. I agree with John Lee, per 36 is a valuable metric to glen talent that may otherwise be missed.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin’s passing and Walker’s dribbling and creating shots. When they play together, there is good chemistry. When you put Lin and Troy Daniels together. TD completely disappeared. When Walker played with Lin, instantly they played better.

    • KL

I am going to jump in belatedly on some of the recent debates. (Cause I am often asleep when there are interesting debates).

So, on whether Lin’s great performance this season is because Lin has improved or is it a product of coaching.

I am gonna go with the view that Jeremy’s improvement this season is 30% own training and 70% coaching. Whilst Lin has surely developed a lot more poise and refined skills, his athletic ability was already peaking when he was 24 years old (during Linsanity).

I noticed that most of the moves he is using now are the same moves he had during Linsanity. One big difference is that he is getting screens now, often and quick. Back with Houston or the Lakers, the bigs would be so reluctant to set screens (except Ed Davis and Omer Asik). They would take so long to set the screen that the defense would know what to expect. Or there would be no screens at all. In fact, a lot of Lin’s points came in transition which has a fair degree of risk and TO probability. Also the overall movement and spacing is much better now. So coaching is a big factor.

However, one new move that Lin is using recently is the behind the back crossover dribble step back jump shot. That move is sick! It seems new and probably worked on during the summer.

However, there are 2 factors that are not so easy to assess. First, improvement on fine skills can be hard to quantify. For instance, a small improvement in speed of release for shots can have a big impact but hard to measure. Second, Lin has grown in “learning to play in the NBA” which means coping with inconsistent officiating, dealing with all kinds of team mates, uncertainty over minutes etc. I am not sure where to place this kind of improvement.

      Just my 2 cents.

Lin as a 2 opens up the court for everybody.

With Daniels, Lin is a 1. But Daniels cannot space the court for Lin.

With Walker, Lin is the 2. TONS OF SHOTS for everyone.

    • Alain Gervais

Lin average 13 PPG 4 assist after allstar break in 25 minutes. April being his most played minutes Averaging 14.4 and 5.4 assist in 27 minutes.

    • KHuang

In Houston’s 1st year with Lin, Lin averaged about 18 and 8 after the All Star break.

    • Michael

Obviously you are not a Decepticon.

    • Alain Gervais

to contrast he averaged 9.8 ppg in 25 minutes

    • Alain Gervais

      before the allstar break

    • KHuang

For me, it’s 100% coaching and 0% Lin.

We don’t see Lin getting ganged up on anymore because the modern day offense spreads the court out and gives Lin moving passing targets.

Lin has done absolutely nothing we have not seen before.

The only difference is that without the constant traps, Lin can go 1-on-1 instead of 1-on-3 like we’re used to see him doing.

    • Alain Gervais

We have to watch that this year. lin has had issue with playing god the whole year.

    • KHuang

      Absolutely Lin will.

The current modern day coaching is totally opposite of the iso schemes practiced by all of Lin’s former teams.

Lin on offense doesn’t have to slam himself through 3 defenders anymore, and Lin on defense doesn’t have to run through 3 screens with zero help.

    • KHuang

      NBA general managers are DUMB.

The reason they are dumb is because they don’t even spend time at the office working on their jobs.

We Lin fans spend far more time studying the game than these clueless general managers do.

    • Alain Gervais

Think about it. Its been a while sense we’ve seen out of control. Here comes lin prime lol.

    • KHuang

All of the people around Odom are ENABLING HIM.

    • KHuang

      Better than Linsanity.

I prefer Lin playing like this over the kamikaze style Lin had to play when D’Antoni was coach.

    • Alain Gervais

He would of gotten injured a lot and he did. This style is sustainable. He can play this way even after his athleticism fades. I will say lol the highlights are not as epic lmao.

    • Michael

Seems like walker learned a thing or two in china.

    • KHuang

Compared to previous years, Lin’s highlights this year are minimal.

No more charging through four defenders

No more Air Jordan layups where Lin skywalks from one side of the rim to the other.

No more Lin defending three guys all at once.

No more Lin scrambling madly to avoid three guys while his teammates stand around lazily, not coming to the ball.

      No highlights, NO PROBLEMS!

    • KHuang

Thank God that NBA general managers other than Rich Cho don’t come here.

They’d get laughed off this forum the instant they said “Lin’s got the potential to be a backup in the NBA”.

    • Maknusia

    • Precisely, JLin is finally happy to choose a TEAM who plays together.

I giggled when I saw Lin instantly switched to SG mode right after Kemba subbed in the game in the 4th q. I have to say those several years of suffering turned Lin into a strange perfection. I have never seen a player can transit from one role to another role so quickly and perfectly.

When I looked those pre-season games, especially when Lin plays PG, he just looked like a player who doesn’t belong to the NBA – He seemed to come from another much better league elsewhere…

We can never prove lin was racially victimized or written off in the nba for being asian but we can suspect it.

Jimmer’s struggle also seems like subtle racism or bigotry. I watched from afar and something was really off in how Coach Smart tried to ruin Jimmer. It was eerily similar to what he did to Lin.

Midget Isiah should thank Smart & his subtle racial profiling for having an NBA career.

Id like to see Jimmer team up with Lin to form the anti racism backup backcourt for the Hornets.

    • JW
    • It’s interesting to talk about Lin’s improvement over the years from Linsanity in NY.

So many things have transpired but JLin himself has said the following improvement that he worked on offseason:

      1. 2013 Left-hand, 3pt shooting
      2. 2014 Defense, off-the-ball
      3. 2015 Ball-handling, lower point of release in shooting (for consistency)

Beside the stated improvement, I’m sure he also learned from Nash about PG soft skills:
      – probing inside to circle in and out to break down defense
      – not take too risky passes

JLin is becoming a more complete player than his 2012 version who knows PnR with deadly midrange Js but more 1 dimensional. His ball-handling was not as good against full-press and in-traffic, his 3s% were lower. Now he’s a dangerous 3p shooter without the ball on his hands, much underrated defender, much STRONGER NBA player that many taller players fail to back him down due to his upper/lower body strength.

As a Lin fan, it’s great to see this progress because he worked insanely hard at all aspects of his game. The Professor praised him lately of how hard he worked on his ball-handling over the summer. I think that’s a great takeaway for all of us.

It’s not about possessing great talent (TMac & Vince Carter had way more) but the exemplary work ethic and right attitude that we can apply in our lives to succeed whatever we do. And his humility certainly welcomes more people who want to support him to succeed.

I’m so glad we have JLin as a role model for kids .. and even adults 🙂

He played 2 in college and next to Harden, Kobe, Clarkson who heavily ball-hog.

    • Alain Gervais

    • This is HUGE. I have to say it again. We know Coach Clifford’s calling is defense.

If JLin can defend a bigger All-Star SG during crunch time, Coach C desperately needs him to play in the 4th quarter and OT.

I predict Coach C will get on his case to not get too many fouls because they can’t afford having JLin in foul trouble & not be in the 4th quarter to help neutralize the hot opposing SG/PG.

I also expect Coach C to do his part to rant and rave (like Pop does) when some bogus calls were called by refs. He did once in this game so it’s good progress by Coach C

    • Briiick

Before the All Star break, he was artificially suppressed in order for Haren to pad his stats into the all stud game.

    • Dan Cohen

unlike mchale and co who blames their own players (ahem.. I mean lin or anyone not name harden or dwight) when it was the ref’s missed called. (like the incident when mo william stepped out of bounds after getting the ball from lin)

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Let put Lin’s skill aside, his intelligent has been over the top and one of it was the ability to learn from his mistake, he never got foul again after his 3rd.

McHale and BS are classless coach. You don’t throw your player under the bus in front of the press. That was the reason the name Jeremy Lin was associated with no D, TO machine, good backup but not great as starter etc…..but reality the opposite.

      Don’t mess with the hair!

    • JW

That Cody and Lin connection didn’t really happen yesterday. Wonder if Cody playing with the starters made him lower in the scoring option. In the highlight, Cody did the pick and was open, but the ball went down into Al.

    • orLinaryjoe

You see hair hit that 3 at the buzzer @ 2:55! Hairiston that is.

    • orLinaryjoe

It didn’t go anywhere. He checked,…all good.

    • JW

Seems also Lin was abusing the shorter Aaron Brooks. Popping the outside shot when Aaron went under and drive into him later on and getting fouled.

    • LAJane

I’ve been paying attention to this argument and I’ve begun tipping in your direction. But I do agree with KL’s last paragraph above about Lin “learning to play in the NBA” -refs, teammates, poor coaching, etc. He has truly matured in his self-image and worth as a human being – those inner spiritual values that are the bedrock anchor of the outer abilities.

    • orLinaryjoe

HAHAHA on poor deli. A poor man’s Lin, not even. If Cavs had Lin last year for the finals…much different. Missed again to get him, LOL.

    • orLinaryjoe

But again, Lin’s cheap this year.

    • Alain Gervais

45 development 55 coaching. last year after all star break was the turning point under a different coach.

    • CJSHYY
    • LAJane

      LOL! True.

    • orLinaryjoe

Bluebell, you’ve got competition. See how she is eyeing and smiling at him?

    • orLinaryjoe

Thanks guys for all the postings. A treasure chest of good reading this morning.

    • CJSHYY

Haha! Really can’t wait for season to start…

    • LAJane

How much I’m lovin’ all the SMILING!

    • orLinaryjoe

They are good teammates. Kemba-Lin and Lin-sky-walker!

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I believe tomorrow game will be Lin and the starters last preseason game. 8 games, traveling oversea and 2-back to back are just too much.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin is simply a better Overall guard than Kemba. kemba is a better pressure defender and has more iso moves but Lin is bigger and better in general.

There really is no confusion. Lin should be the starting PG and this team should have another talented wing who can also dribble shoot or penetrate like iman shumpert, butler, or I dare say even Clarkson.

The song and dance of putting Lin on the floor at backup or the 2 is just due to roster jam and front office issues

    • CJSHYY

I think there are still 2 more left…

    • takemeback2reaganyears

They’ll play one more, my prediction.

    • GoodDayLA

To be this good at this level, he is truly an extreme talent skin color be damned.

He still may not get public recognition this season but his team is going to torch many NBA oponents this season and he will be central in having his imprint on it.

    • LAJane

Been snooping through the media this morning. J’s doing so great that they have to take notice, just as we have been predicting. Just prepare yourselves though…they can’t even begin to have the thought that maybe they weren’t paying attention before…you know, like, actually watching Lin’s game and using their own grey matter. So they’re going to have to always throw in a little negative along with the positive just to justify their previous “opinions”. They’re struggling with it now, but signs are that the ship is slowly turning. Actually, the way J’s shining, it might turn faster than I’m thinking.

    • CJSHYY

      Detroit & Pacers?

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Detroit.

    • heart

I like A. Brooks. He was a good teammate to Lin on Rockets. I still remember when Brooks was still on Kings team, Lin blocked Brooks from behind and did a one-man run straight to the opposite basket. Notice that Lin is very keen on knowing how to defend and play against his opponents when he played against them before.

    • CJSHYY

      So no Pacers?

    • wandertheglobe

$10K per night, for his one week stay, he dropped about $75K.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I don’t think so. b2b game and coach might want to see more of his bench, who gets cut and who go to D-league. Clippers only have 6 games in preseason.

    • CJSHYY

But I just check NBA schedule. 10/21 vs Detroit. 10/22 vs Pacers.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Yes, the Pacers might do the same, rest or play starters just about 10 min.

    • orLinaryjoe

Agreed. i think it will take a couple of regular season game wins to cement that.

    • spiderman

honestly think they’re a lost cause so could not care less, but one would have to be a complete ignoramus to ignore Lin’s substantial impact

    • David Kim
    • spiderman

      it’s the HAIR!!

    • orLinaryjoe

Lin had another nice game against the Bulls on Monday with his 18 point, five assist, and eight rebound performance. The most impressive part about Lin’s 18 points isn’t that he did it in 24 minutes, but that he only needed eight shots to do so since he went 5-9 from the free throw line.

In particular, Lin took roughly half of his shots from the top of the key. Often times, Lin would work off of a screen, and flare out to his spot on the court. It’s funny because the long two is a much maligned shot these days, but it’s a shot that Lin can hit capably. From 2011-2014 Lin shot between 40.6 percent and 45.2 percent between 16 feet and the three-point line. On Monday Lin went 2-4 from that space above the break, but it’s a shot that he’s hit well all preseason.

This was Lin’s preseason shot chart coming into the night, and has continued to shoot very well from these spaces. I wouldn’t expect him to continue to shoot at a near-50 percent clip, because that’s incredibly hard to do, but if he can shoot like he did in New York and Los Angeles, Steve Clifford could find himself with another trick up his sleeve.

      http://www.atthehive.com/2015/10/20/9572227/bulls-hornets-notes-and-observations

    • Riddick

I agree w/u except for ‘Clarkson’ bit. He’s no where close to Shump or Butler.

    • Rick Johnson

Jeremy Lin preseason shot chart. Pretty impressive, like finding Steph Curry between your couch pillows.

    • Rick Johnson

Will need the regular season games. Right now everything is discounted as “pre-season doesn’t mean anything.”

    • orLinaryjoe

      Akira Sendoh

    • Rick Johnson

And Detroit doesn’t show up as being listed on League Pass. Bummer, going to have to look for pirate site.

    • spiderman

I’m starting to like Kemba more and more. Instead of feeling threatened by Lin (like prior insecure “superstars”) he seems to be embracing Lin. He is becoming a better more effective player for that.
“Linstructor” at work — it’s all about winning

    • KHuang

      Curry cannot shoot this well.

    • KHuang

I’ve been yanmering ALL SUMMER that Zeller is not a fundamentally sound or even experienced offensive player.

He’s got so much to learn before he can produce like a Hawes, let along Hansbrough.

    • There’s no question Lin fans and even Hornets media/fans know that by now.

But strategically, the coaches face the challenge of integrating a brand new team to play unselfishly to get a lot of Ws w/o any players pouting.

They can’t afford to get Kemba, Al going to the dark side of Lance Stephenson.
AtTheHive recognized Kemba went a bit ball-hog yesterday in 2nd quarter since he’s used to do so last season & robbed Batum of open opportunities but recovered in Q4 a bit

I’d say as Lin fans, we also need to be strategic to support as many Ws as possible with Lin playing major role. It’s about team wins and developing team chemistry now. Debating starting or not is not effective now since the focus should be on Lin’s playing time and role in the system

I have no doubt if everyone buys in, Lin’s strength as the ultimate playmaker will shine in these Ws. Starting is important in the NBA but winning should take priority now so the spotlight can be on Hornets & how JLin arrival made them look so good.

      So first thing first.

    • very true, he learned quickly not to pick up the 4th foul

    • KHuang

      OH PLEASE.

You’re just backpedaling on your claim that “Lin cannot guard SG.”

And your notion that the defenseless Clarkson, the average Butler, or the overrated Shumpert can defend better than Lin is WRONG.

I’ve been PREDICTING all summer that Lin would have no trouble guarding max contract All Star SGs like Butler.

      Go by evidence, not hype.

    • yeah, getting bad bosses definitely can be a career killer :]

we’re so used to get bad comments from Lin’s previous coaches that it would take a while to trust Coach Clifford’s good comments. When Lin gets a lot of PT and big roles, that would be the ultimate evidence

    • Rick Johnson

Zeller started out hot because Lin made him better. Since going to the starting lineup he’s regressed.

    • Rick Johnson

      Truth

    • KHuang

Shump and Butler cannot get stops like Lin can.

      Never have, never will.

    • KHuang

Zeller does not have the ability to create his own shot.

The only shot in his arsenal is a 3 pointer.

He doesn’t even know how to cut.

    • KHuang

      It will not turn.

The American media will not acknowledge Lin’s excellence even if he plays at his current MVP level.

    • KHuang

They’d be UNGUARDABLE, and they’d be really hard to score on.

    • yes, Brooks was a good Lin teammate.

I’d never forget what he said to McHale about to put him in, “Coach, just let Jeremy do his thing”

All players want to play but Brooks declined to play and ask his coach to let JLin do his thing. That’s a testament on Brooks’ unselfishness & their good relationship

    • thanks, jay910221 made good 6.5min video.

      I just featured it now

    • Riddick

I agree w/u there KHuang. Lin has gotten much better than often given credit for, but I wasn’t impressed w/Clarkson at all, so putting him in similar context of Shump or Butler is a bit ‘hyped’.

    • DaBoss

American media is fickle. They love you one moment, stomp on you the next, then bring you back and idolize you once again. Curious to see how it plays out with Jeremy, but then again at the end of the day, who cares what they think?

    • martan267

Hello fellow Lin fans… I just have to rant a bit here. I was watching the video that @Alain Gervais posted earlier and was upset with what one of the announcer said… I may be too sensitive or suffering from PTSD about Jeremy’s treatment.. At around 5:26 – 5:30, the 1st announcer was talking about the great stats Jeremy was having during the game and then the 2nd announcer says that that’s what makes Jeremy a “solid BACKUP point guard…” WHAT!?!?! 18p/5a/8r is considered typical for a backup?!?!? In what BB league universe!?!?! SIGH…. Why does it seem that the bar for Jeremy is always set at the highest level before he’s considered acceptable?? Here’s a quick rundown on a few weird assessments on him that just does not make sense.

      1. Highest points and assists in his first 5 starts in modern NBA HISTORY – Response: “it’s a fluke since nobody scouted him” Really!?!?
      2. On the shortlist of players, mainly HOF, to get a triple double in less than 30 min – Response: not that important and noteworthy and just ignored by media
      3. Mr California in high school basketball – Response: no offer from a Div I BB College, much less a scholarship
      4. Broke stats records in college – Response: not drafted

I know that we’ve heard all of this before, but the impact to Jeremy if we just look at financials is huge.
Because people felt that he was just a fluke after the Knicks, his 25 million contract was considered “ridiculous” and his subsequent contract is a piddling 4 million. A good backup was averaging around 5-8 million Per Year.
      2. Because he was not drafted, he got the minimum of around 700k for his first two years in the league vs. draftees that got multi-year million dollar contracts
      3. Because he did not get a scholarship, his parents had to fork out probably close to 200k for college… Harvard is not cheap

McHale, Moray and BS continued to do a lot of damage to Jeremy’s cred and the bias against him in the media continues to linger.

Thank god for Linsanity so he was able to get branded and global companies saw his value in the Asian markets! And thus, not have to worry about his NBA salary. But, geez, what does Jeremy have to do to finally be acknowledge as a legitimate starting point guard or combo guard?!?!? Will he ever be acknowledged!?!?

      Okay- rant over.

    • steven ko

because of Lin’s missed FTs, Charlotte fans can’t get discounted pizzas. thanks a lot JLin…

    • Riddick

lol…better get on that Lin. He gave LA free tacos…now it’s only fair that he gives Char discounted pizzas.

    • I really like the growing chemistry between Kemba & JLin in the 4th quarter (mark 5:40 at the featured jay video )

Kemba tried to drive but got doubled by Butler who left Lin after he moved to the 3pt line on the right wing. Lin quickly made a cut and Kemba found him so CHI fouled him as Butler was late to recover

Kemba’s post-game interview also reflected how much he likes playing with JLin since he takes a lot of pressure from him. I expect each will get open a lot more as double teams come to the other earning them easy points at FT line when they get fouled.

Note: Another favorite is [mark 5:02] when announcer said “Butler just ran by Lin .. then got poked away from behind” as JLin made the deflection just when Butler thought he ran past Lin

      https://youtu.be/BYB2dj_i2D4?t=5m40s

    • martan267

You’re more optimistic than I am right now… I just posted a rant about the way media still views Jeremy as a backup. But you have a good point. He started off being viewed as a d-leaguer, then a fluke, then a backup, then a solid good backup… So improvements even though he faced quite a bit of obstacles and headwind to get to that point.

    • GoodDayLA

Lins revenge is winning an NBA title and smoking the teams that privately and openly mocked him or bypassed him along the way.

    • No worries, that’s the Bulls announcers.
Most announcers only read script in front of them or talk based on memory.

What’s important is Hornets announcers praise and recognize JLin’s good plays unlike LAL & HOU who followed the narrative that the organization set to feature Kobe and Harden more.

That’s why it’s important to play for a coach/GM who really wants JLin.
Had Lin join Dallas Mavericks, it’s pretty much guaranteed the praise would be directed towards Parsons since Cuban wants him to be the face of the franchise. Brrr!

So far, JLin made the right decision to play for:
      1. a coach who studied hours of his films upon signing & afterwards
      2. GM who flew to CA to his house to have him sign the contract
      3. an owner/GOAT who has business/basketball interest to state JLin is the biggest summer acquisition when he can easily say Batum

I’d say just ignore the noise for now. There’s a lot to celebrate for JLin fans to finally watching a smiling JLin playing his best after 3 long years 😀

    • GoodDayLA

he;s a center stuck playing forward

    • GoodDayLA

you have actually. you have. cody should be playing center though

    • JoeTeam

Hawes I watched a bit in Clips 2 seasons ago. The highlights from him … it was awesome to see his 3s.

    • GoodDayLA

      no. read my post.

Lin should be starting at PG with a bigger SG partner OR he can play the 2 but must be paired with a big 1 who is close to 6 foot 6. There are both offensive and defensive advantages.

i have not backtracked on anything.

It may be possible Lin looks BETTER at SG than PG both on the court and in stats.

But he is better off at PG with a bigger taller group around him

    • Riddick

I’m actually more impressed w/Hawes than Zeller at this point. I’d like to see Lin/Hawes partnership develop to see how well that could work.

    • For short-term, Lin’s sweet revenge is to lead Hornets to demolish Lakers/Mavs/Knicks/Rockets this season with TEAMBALL. They didn’t think much of JLin and they get to see what they missed dearly.

I’m sooo looking forward to these games and having MJ tell everyone at the end of the playoff in late May or June, “I told you so!”

    • blubell

Stacy King is Bulls announcer/former MJ’S teammate and you can’t take him seriously as he is a homer and doesn’t know Jeremy’s journey. He is on NBA radio on XM and and like most hosts he just regurgitate the same BS. However, this morning he praised Jeremy’s performance and said “he can start some games” which is a step up from just saying he’s a solid back up. But he did trashed Jeremy’s hair, a lot. Lol. So don’t take it to heart. He is no one.

We’re off to a good start this year and I’m looking forward to winning! Sit back and enjoy the ride 🙂

    • GoodDayLA

racism sucks. I am pretty sure Jimmer got indirectly and subtly race hated in the NBA. Unfortunately he is not as talented as Lin to just keep his head above water like Lin was able to do despite hater coaches and front offices.

    • GoodDayLA

Hawes has talent and just needed a passing pG like Lin to look good. He should play PF on this team.

    • blubell

      I trust Jeremy 😛

    • GoodDayLA

Kemba doesn’t intentionally hold the ball like Harden and kobe. I hate Harden and Kobe’s delayed bail out passing where teammates cannot make plays off the catch.

Kemba seems to like passing to moving targets when he is stuck and Lin is starting to figure that out and move to where Kemba will pass it. Bemba should also look and learn sometimes to just kick the ball back out but a lot of these NBA stars can’t make a simple play.

    • orLinaryjoe

You have right to rant. Knicks forum’s got me ticked off as well. Serviceable PG:
      http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1410332#start_here

    • GoodDayLA

Just let Lin destroy on the court. they can call him a backup while he wins games. Let them look like imbeciles.

LInsanity forced some execs around the league to put that egg on their face. Former warrior GM hater Reilly HATED on Lin prior to LInsanity and probably laughed at Lin behind closed doors.

It felt so good to see him have to egg his own face on TV and acknowledge it.

      But let’s move on.

Support Lin winning games, dominating playoffs, and pushing out Lebron THIS SEASON and make it to the NBA finals.

Lin will do it if there is some luck and Hornets stop getting in his way.

It’s true I follow Lin because he is a Chinese American guy. But he has the elite talent for me to justify following him.
If this was some Sun Yu scrub or he was only as good as goran dragic, I would not be wasting my time here.

This kid is elite at bball and will own these clowns, just have patience.

    • GoodDayLA

haha I expect more out of Lin that many fans here. I expect Lin to beat the Cavs in the playoffs this summer with Lin doing it all if they move him to PG and put a big 2 with him and put Kemba into the secondary scorer role.

I suspect the media will STILL hate on Lin and find another Hornet to give praise to, but it will be sweet vindication for THIS particular Lin fan.

We just need the team to get out of his way and for Cliff to go ALL LIN on the guy

    • Dan Cohen

      what??? curry can shoot well!

    • GoodDayLA

nice post. Let’s hope Lin coming off the bench to do spot duty is enough to carry this team. I personally have my doubts, but maybe Lin can make lemonade out of a lemon situation.

      Free throws galore

The statistic that sticks out so dramatically over these six games: The Hornets have outscored their opponents at the foul line by nearly a 2-to-1 margin (138 points to 77). If this team’s ability to create and m
