Preseason2 CHA @ MIA Game Thread

What a great start by JLin to kick off his Hornets season!

It’s still preseason games but it’s very encouraging to see how Coach Clifford used JLin as a PG in the 1st half and a combo guard (PG/SG) in the 2nd half. Jeremy passed the test with a flying color to be the Top Performer with 17p/7a.

More importantly, Jeremy would eventually be the versatile weapon to be a combo guard to close out games with Kemba Walker because it would only make sense to have all playmakers on the floor to beat quality teams.

Would Clifford give JLin some rest today since he plays last night?
I predict JLin will only play ~20min tonight since Coach Clifford has seen what he wants from Jeremy.
After MKG injury, it would be better to be more cautious with all key players.

It would be awesome to see JLin have some stint to play with starters. He already knows how to play with Jeremy Lamb in the 2nd team so it should be an easy transition.

Let’s go, JLin!

Hahaha, got first…in the middle of the night. F-ing fire alarm keeps going off on a ground fault false alarm.

    • Arsenium12 .

Wonderful start to the new season for Jeremy.

Hope he stays healthy, and is able to play to his full potential.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

It’s time to test lin n walker on floor together as starters. Batum moves to 3 and Tyler starts at 4. This is a needed match up with Wade n Dragic.

    • CJSHYY
    • blueCypher

haha, his hair is an amusing top of discussion

    • Alain Gervais

checked LP see no games listed

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      I’m panic.

    • Alain Gervais

i live in florida as well still nothing. found one but it was blacked out for some reason

    • GoodDayLA

It saddens me only khuang and me understand kemba and lin backcourt cannot win against the top nba teams and is fools gold that will look really good against the bad to average teams further tricking the unsuspecting Lin fan into thinking it will work.

    • blueCypher

      its on BS

    • Alain Gervais

      bs??

    • takemeback2reaganyears

What works or won’t work remained to be seen after multiple tests. This is a preseason and you risk nothing to tryout.

What you and khuang have seen is nothing more than just an opinion. It hasn’t been proven as black and white yet so why feel saden?

    • devin23

It worked for bledsoe and dragic at the western conference. they almost made it to the playoffs. It can work with kemba and lin in the weaker east.

    • JW

just let it play out and see what happens. Coach will adjust if it doesn’t work. Too early to be so gloom and doom. Just hope that Lin and by proxy, the team do well this year.
It’s not like we can do much. You wanna start a petition at change.org?

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Local Heat tv should show it if you live in Miami area?

    • orLinaryjoe

Don’t see why that combo should not be tried.

    • devin23

Hello guys. I’m new. What do you think is the ideal minute distribution for this team? Coach clifford wants to play a 9 man rotation. just throwing mine out there

      walker 30/lin18
      lamb 25/lin 23
      batum 35/william 13
william 24/zeller & frank split the rest
al 32/zeller & hawes split the rest

    • KHuang

      Well, let me clarify…

      Lin with starters, not good
      Lin with bench, VERY GOOD

Lin with Walker with bench, could be pretty good

    • KHuang

      Ideal minute distribution?

The more the bench plays, the better.

    • webattorney

I also agree that Kemba and Lin combo is not the best combo in that their respective strengths and weaknesses do not mesh well, but what can you do? Besides, I don’t think Hornets’ talent level overall is high enough to go far in the playoff. But sure beats Lakers and Houston situations.

    • webattorney

Making playoff in the LEastern Conf might be possible, but anything more than that will be a shock to me.

    • Phillycheese

Lin will get some minutes against Heat but can’t see him getting more minutes than 1st game. Expect Daniels and Harrison to get some burn as well.

    • KHuang

I strongly feel that Lin Walker would work if Frank Kaminsky, Nicholas Batum, and Al Jefferson were out there too.

    • GoodDayLA

I think they might make it a round or 2 farther playing Lin Lamb Nic at 123 than Kemba Lin Nic at 123.

    • webattorney

Doesn’t seem like there are any good bigs to play PnR with Lin.

    • devin23

Hey khuang, i always liked your basketball analyst when I was just reading the board. I think the best lineup is lin/lamb/batum/william/al. PF is the weakest link though.

    • Phillycheese

No way Lin is getting 41 minutes. Maybe in an overtime game but not in a reg game.

    • KHuang

      Not really.

Bledoe Dragic blew apart because Bledsoe was a sucky PG and Dragic was uncomfortable playing SG.

    • webattorney

Agreed, but I wasn’t impressed with their bigs at all. That Nicholas guy had his way.

    • devin23

my bad, i messed up my math. updated it with a more realestic #. 😀

    • KHuang

You’ll find out that every guy over 6’7″ on this team can play terrific pick and roll with Lin.

    • GoodDayLA

Thats when clifford unleashes tyler H for some dirty play and physicality. Not dirty but enforcer type stuff

    • webattorney

Maybe pick and pop, but not pick and roll. Not athletic enough IMO. We will see. Maybe Tyler will do well with Lin.

    • webattorney

Want to see Tyler and Lin combo.

    • GoodDayLA

But lin lamb nic frank and al even better

    • KHuang

Uhh, I predicted on 2012 that Andrew Nicholson was a STUD.

He was so good, I wrote that Nicholson was better than #1 overall pick Anthony Davis. Nicholson is bigger, stronger, heavier, and more skilled than Davis.

That player historically cannot be stopped by anyone but by hater coach Jacque Vaughn who was mercifully fired.

Andrew Nicholson right now is the NBA’s most underutilized player.

    • devin23

I always thought they played adequately together until thomas came along. that 3 pg rotation didn’t work.

    • webattorney

I have to disagree that Nicholson is better than Anthony Davis. Maybe a better value.

    • GoodDayLA

Zeller looked lost and made slow reads. But he is the only one with the athletic potential to do anything close to the ed davis/ lin combo. Im just hoping for a poor mans version to develop.

The hornets bigs are all slow, starters and bench. Maybe hansborough will be the best to click with Lin afterall

    • Phillycheese

Lots of teams like the three guard rotation. Hornets with Walker, Lin and Lamb will now be a three guard rotation. Batum plays SF which is his natural position. Williams at the 4 to stretch the floor and AL at C. Against teams like Houston Batum will guard Harden and Lin switches over to Ariza. I think Lin at SG could work for 10 min or so a game. Having MKG and Batum together with Lin at the SG would have worked better since MKG and Batum can really defend.

    • GoodDayLA

U did lol. Jae crowder is the only one u really liked and i didnt find was quite as awesome as u felt.

    • KHuang

When the two players were drafted, Nicholson was WAY BETTER than Anthony Davis.

But since their NBA careers started, Davis has been coddled and forcefed minutes while Nicholson saw his minutes drop every year after a blisterigly hot rookie season off the bench.

Nicholson still won’t get minutes, but it isn’t because he cannot play.

    • KHuang

Jae Crowder PUNKED ME by becoming a far better player than I had anticipated.

I thought he’d be a utility guy scoring about 5-7 ppg, sort of the way Draymond Green would be if he were not cherry picking on the Warriors.

    • GoodDayLA

Oh boy, u dont win by being undersized. Until clifford has the guts to make hard calls, he cant win by attempting to mask the problem. Kerr had the guts or backing to bench former al stars. Will clifford?

    • Alain Gervais

      yea sun sports shows nothing

    • Alain Gervais

I’m confused by kemba is he a great mid range shooter/driver/ or three shooter. i see his dribbling is pretty good??

    • GoodDayLA

I believe tyler hansborough has some lacking traits but is likely to be lins best pick and roll guy. But he might not play much.

    • KHuang

Against teams that don’t have a “battleship” center like DeMarcus Cousins or Pau Gasol, substituting Hansbrough and Kaminsky for Williams and Jefferson would work even better.

Power forward is THE STRENGTH on this team.

    • GoodDayLA

Then what is it? He not asian

    • KHuang

Kemba Walker is a poor shooter, period.

He dribbles well, but he cannot get past his man.

    • Phillycheese

How many SG can abuse Lin? Klay, Beal, Harden, Wade, Korver. Now how many of those teams have a strong enough 3 that we have to keep Batum on the 3? Only GS. So on D, Batum will switch and Lin guards the 3.

    • devin23

and he’s a below average passer for a pg IMO. he’s only good trait is ball handling

    • GoodDayLA

Fair assessment. He shoots ok mid range to old college 3 but nba 3 too far for him.

    • KHuang

ALL players in the NBA have their peak performances at 34 mpg max.

    • GoodDayLA

Yet clifford will start him. And the hornets ordain him team star ??

    • devin23

in fact, walker is only starting IMO cause of the contract and money invested in him. Otherwise, lin is clearly the better player and pg.

    • Phillycheese

      Worse – he’s Canadian.

    • GoodDayLA

If u can bench D Lee and Iguodala then Kemba can be benched. The coach and front office need to make winning and not safe moves. Unfortunately this franchise also lacks the guts but they are trying in their own way. At least they are letting Lin play for real.

    • devin23

makes sense. Hansbrough would be a better pf defender vs the likes of zach randolph. william would get chewed alive in the paint. I think Al is the xfactor. He’s defense, especially on PNR has always been a weakness. He’s looking good on D so far at preseason though. Frank the Tank has so much potential… He’s still a rooking so hope to see him get meaningful minutes this year.

    • KHuang

lt’s because Jacques Vaughn believed Nicholson could not defend.

Statistically, Nicholson had the worst defensive numbers of the bigs.

I’d argue that Nicholson played so little, he hasn’t been able to learn on the court and hasn’t been able to get conditioning.

Nicholson either needs to get out of Orlando or be treated right by new coach Scott Skiles.

    • devin23

I think if it was ONLY up to coach clifford, he’d start lin. But I hear MJ is a big fan of kemba, thus his 12+ mil per year contract, so…

    • KHuang

NONE of those SGs, least of all Harden who was Lin’s practice punching bag for two seasons, have actually scored much against Lin in the last 4 seasons.

Lin historically guards the 2 guards, and he has had an easier time guarding them than the shoot first point guards that try to run Lin off 3 picks since nobody can blow by Lin 1-on-1.

    • GoodDayLA

healthy wes johnson, kobe post ups and cheap shot elbow tricks to the face, gordon hawaard who lifted weights this summer, demar detrozen, joe johnson, victor olodipo, tyreke evans (when eric g sits), danny green too tall on jumper 3s that lin cannot really contest, and more if i sit and think

    • GoodDayLA

Im ok with lin playing 2 as long as his pg is taller and bigger than him.

    • Phillycheese

The stats were like 30 assists for 34 made baskets. That means 4 baskets were unassisted. I believe Lin had 2 of those unassisted baskets. What a selfish player is Lin 😉

    • KHuang

      ???

Lin hasn’t had trouble being matched up with ANY of those guys in actual games.

Just cause guys are taller than Lin doesn’t mean that they can just shoot 3s like layups over him.

    • GoodDayLA

      Nice analysis

    • KHuang

      NONSENSE.

Lin’s been guarding 2s for the last 3 seasons.

He shut down Monta Ellis, bottled up Kevin Martin, terrorized James Harden in practices, and handcuffed everybody else you named.

    • Phillycheese

Demar – too skinny. Victor – not known for his offense. Joe Johnson could post up and shoot over Lin. Wes – Lin would get a ton of steals. Kobe – now you’re starting to insult me,

    • GoodDayLA

Who knows. The real problem isnt who is starting but who finishes? Lin should but will he? Also does coach have guts to play lin over kemba in the crunch? Playing them together is just a temporary solution to a real problem that must be addressed

    • TTNN

so far Zeller is the guy

    • Phillycheese

I said Lin at SG could work for small stretches. I am not saying he should start at SG. He can play against some of the backup SG in this league. It depends on the rotation and distribution of minutes.

    • TTNN

yes, he dribbles well, but not doing other things well, that’s why he kept dribbling, and have low TO.

    • KHuang

Hansbrough is THE BEST power forward defender in the league.

He’s every big as tough and as relentless and court smart as Lin.

Hansbrough is a “battleship” power forward.

People constantly make the mistake of calling Hansbrough a “motor” player. In actually he’s an ATHLETE that very few players in today’s NBA can physically handle. So far, NOBODY has stopped Hansbrough when he receives anything close to decent minutes.

    • GoodDayLA

lin can gaurd those guys but for rebounding, team size and length advantage, you are much better off with Lin being the shortest guy on the team even if he does defend the 2. Guarding 2’s take a physical toll on Lin whereas guarding 1 is also better for his health.

Lin can overpower more 1s than 2s. Hes one of the strongest 1s in Nba after westbrook williams lillard

    • KHuang

This Charlotte modern day offense has tons of room for any of Charlotte’s players to roll, including the guards.

This is not the outdated 80s iso crap as done in NY, HOU, and LAL.

    • GoodDayLA

I do agree with that. But how does he close games?

    • devin23

wes johnson is a scrub. kobe is a has been who averaged less than 40% last year and will only get worse this year. gordon is a sf. lin would like guard ross and batum guard demar. Only joe, victor and maybe tyrke could poss some problems.

    • KHuang

      Ed Davis isn’t that good.

Every one of the Hornets big men, including Zeller, are more talented than wimpy little Ed Davis.

    • GoodDayLA

Keller will get a lot better. Lin plays too fast for him right now and zeller must adapt to lins speed and efficiency

    • GoodDayLA

      Oops meant healthy wes mathews

    • CJSHYY
    • KHuang

Lin could EASILY start at SG.

He can guard any SG in the league and has done so over the last 3 seasons.

Lin shut down Monta Ellis to SIX POINTS, completely stopped Klay Thompson, and held Kevin Martin to under 20 points. Not even vaunted SG defenders Avery Beadley and Tony Allen can do that.

    • Phillycheese

Walker may be on the bench at the time watching Lin close games.

    • devin23

I like that term you use. “battleship” haha. Good thing there aren’t many battleship big men in the east. Hansbrough is underrated. Sadly, i don’t think he’ll get much opportunity on this team either..

    • GoodDayLA

If you think that and hornets think lin can play 2 next to kemba, then its disappointing Lin is not starting at the 2 already

I dont think team thinks lin can really play 2 either as i do so they are playing games with themselves to juggle and try to fit everyone and not make tough calls to bench past starters

    • devin23

      what does ICYMI stand for?

    • KHuang

      Completely disagree again.

Lin chasing after a slower SG is easier than being bashed to death by 3 illegal screens set for shoot first PGs like Goran Dragic or Damien Lillard or Stephen Curry

    • Alain Gervais

      in case you missed it

    • GoodDayLA

I love ur take though i dont agree with it!

    • devin23

its more about what the team needs. If you were coach cliff, do you really want brian roberts running the 2nd unit? Yikes. As long as lin plays 30+ min, i’d be happy. Lin should be the starting PG, but due to politics, he can’t. So i’ll settle for the next ideal situation, which is 6th man combo guard.

    • CJSHYY

      NBA really promotes Lin now.

    • GoodDayLA

I will pee my pants, figurtively, if that happens

    • GoodDayLA

Then he should start at sg. Yet lin himself seees abd wants to be pg

    • KHuang

Joe Johnson hasn’t matched up against Lin, but he wouldn’t be able to post Lin up like he does any other guard.

Lin’s had no trouble with the brick handed and slower Tyreke Evans.

And Oladipo? Lin’s hasn’t had any trouble with him either.

    • KHuang

Lin is good enough to start at either position.

During that stretch of games when Harden was injured, Lin started at SG and AVERAGED 22 ppg.

And then last year, Lin compiled a 19 PER as a SG, not PG.

      Lin GETS HIS at SG.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin cannot contest or distract the shooting of guys like beal klay etc. And they will post him up badly as well.

Lin is much better off chasing ball in hand guys around screens and containing than getting toched.

Last season Lin has a tough time containing jj reddick who is not that big or strong a 2 but runs routes so well lin could not keep up through the screens and traps. In lins defense few could.

Also i trust lin to guard cp3 more than smallish turnstile Kemba!!!!

    • devin23

Good. they should keep it up. wonder what changed. He’s in a smaller market, should actually be getting less explosure.

    • Alain Gervais

      we will see

    • KHuang

Just stick Lin and Lamb out there.

Either one can play on or off the ball, and it doesn’t even matter if Lamb guards the PG and Lin guards the SG.

    • GoodDayLA

Id let kemba run my second unit

    • CJSHYY

They really need him for Asia market, specially China games coming. Haha!

    • GoodDayLA

Well u should be mad if cliff dont start lin now. Its gonna be lin or lamb

    • devin23

Me too. But that’d be viewed as too “controversial” from the hornet’s perspective. We’ll see how things go 20 games from now. Nothing is constant in the nba.

    • joyce ward

      HoopsHype ‏@hoopshype 5m5 minutes ago

MKG likely to miss start of regular season. http://bit.ly/1LrlFvx

    • GoodDayLA

Kemba? They aint benching the starter

    • KHuang

James Harden gets LIT UP at SG.

How come nobody is complaining that he’s too slow or too unathletic to guard 2’s?

Monta Ellis is 6’1″, yet nobody complains that he’s too small. Why is Ellis at 6’1″ more than big enough to guard 2s while Lin at 6’3 and about 40 lbs heavier than Ellis is too small?

    • KHuang

My guess is that MKG will miss 3 months.

    • GoodDayLA

Harden sucks on D hence why i know houston wont win a thing. Harden should be a bench player with that crappy defense

Montae at 2 is stupid as h***. I dont even waste my time talking about a squad with a six foot one sg. Pure stupidity by bird and dallas

What u mention above is exactly the type of incompetence i refer to. I dont want lin and his team to do the same stupid crap i see elsewhere.

Golden state finally figured it out abd got klay

    • Alain Gervais

      true

    • GoodDayLA

Lamb or lin starting. Think Lin stays benched as usual.

Against jj reddick in china lin will start at least 1. They are almost the same size

    • Alain Gervais

lamb because there is no other pg but lin will finish my guess

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

      i remember seeing that

    • blubell

A longer highlights video from Christine!

    • Rick Johnson

MKG is supposed to be their defensive guy. Would he be the one guarding LeBron like Iguodala?

    • GoodDayLA

He guves up 2 inch and 35 pound to lebron. Marvin willliams better off trying. At least batum has the length but not the brawn

    • Ben Johnson

Without Lamb in the 2nd unit, that’s gonna give Jeremy less space to operate

    • takemeback2reaganyears

All stats will be erased right before the season starts.

    • Alain Gervais

didn’t seem to have much effect

    • Rick Johnson

Good point. But Iguodala wasn’t that big either. Of course he just slowed James, nobody could stop him.

      M Kidd-Gilchrist 232 lb / 6’7″
      L James 250 lb / 6’8″
      A Iguodala 207 lb / 6’6″

    • joyce ward

This new Charlotte team is interesting in it’s making. Now that MKG is injured, it will be interesting to see who steps up for the 1st and 2nd team. I do believe that coaches know that lin is that X factor for both 1st and 2nd unit.

    • blubell
    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin is not veteran, he’s in the early stage of his prime so I hope he’ll play 20 plus min before China trip.

    • joyce ward

      What does that mean???

    • takemeback2reaganyears

That meant Jefferson and Batum are more likely not playing tonight. JMO.

    • joyce ward

Who are considered the core veterans?

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Jefferson for sure as one.

    • Rick Johnson
    • TTNN

I thought Lin defend post up pretty well, even bigger guys.

Only memory he was not guarding 2 well was that Philly game, where Anderson shoot over him for the game winning 3. JJ reddick come out multiple screens and LAL bigs provide no help, can’t blame Lin there. I’d think Hornets team the bigs will help if their names are not AI or Hawes.

    • Alain Gervais

lin is a veteran but lets focus of the “some” part.

    • blubell

      exactly. lol.

    • TTNN

I don’t think they could afford not play Lin/Kemba/Batum, the preseason are the games they really need to test out their combination and play them side by side.

I think AI and Hawes will not play in heat game, thus give more time for young bigs. We will see physcoT I guess.

    • blueCypher

Hornets official store seems to be slacking with the Lin merchandise.

    • Alain Gervais

the next game is next sunday so its not a fatigue thing I’m sure lin and the new additions will play

    • blueCypher

Right, plenty of rest this week.

    • kauaiblue

      Hes got some guns…

    • TTNN

you could have Daniels. Defense might be a problem, but hopefully Zellers and Frank will be good.

    • TTNN

It is good that at least he got extended. Otherwise Batum might take his spot and not returning it.

    • blubell
    • takemeback2reaganyears

I hope they will be tested tonight Lin/Kemba/Batum combination.

    • TTNN

China game is coming, NBA is smart.

Also I think Hornets is smart too, the franchise try to keep Lin under the radar, and let NBA do all the promotion. 🙂 I’m fine with that. As long as the team give Lin all the opportunity, they don’t need to go out and do all the promotions.

Much better than in Houston, they tried to put Lin on every interview, and coaches try to talk down on him, and not give him real chance on court.

    • TTNN

      Lamb can play on ball??

    • TTNN

true, he shoot in bunches yesterday when there is another PG deliver him the ball. I really don’t mind that.

He came out of the back screens, curl for a 3 shot, really smooth and nice. He could be Hornets’ JJ Redick with his quickness and sharp shooting now.

    • TTNN

      It going to be Lamb.

    • Alain Gervais

      lol love the hair

    • TTNN

He plays better to the team when Ellis is at the 2. He don’t hog the ball as much, and I acctually hope Kemba will play as a 2. Just Kemba don’t have the shot.

    • blueCypher

      Hair has magic

    • TTNN

One thing I noticed yesterday, Zeller was pretty much just following Lin to set up screen for him. I like that. Also Zeller is smart to drove down to the rim hard following Lin too, which in LA, Hill and Boozer just don’t want to do that, they will wait outside for long 2 jumper.

    • TTNN

they could save that to China games.

I think start Lamb is a good continuation from yesterday’s game, Lamb and Batum works pretty good, and you want to see whether that is real or not, what if they are under bigger pressure by a better team.

    • GoodDayLA

      I agree

    • TTNN

LOL, that hair is a big thing now.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

The only think I would agree with you is if starting Lin they would have very much no one off the bench at pg position.

    • TTNN

LOL, this year going to be fun in LAL.

      https://twitter.com/SethPartnow/status/650743227348221952

    • blueCypher

There are better and more entertaining teams to follow in the west than the lakers

    • TTNN

LAL will be at different ridiculous level this season though….

That’s what I was thinking too. They are going to promote Lin to drum up excitement for the China games.

    • Rick Johnson

He and some friends agree’d to have the same hair style and it would take a year. What would take a year to grow out? Dread locks, man bun, pony tail?

hmm interesting kemba didn’t get the rest

    • sport

Hair makes him look 10x younger lol.

    • joyce ward
    • Perhaps it’s time for Kemba/Lin experiment?

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Why should he? He’s younger and played less than Lin last night.

    • Alain Gervais

      hmmmm good idea

    • Alain Gervais

he maybe younger but has more milage then lin

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Not really, He’s out 20 games last season and Lin is one the league top in mileage per game.

i swear i thought kemba has been in charlotte for years. but he got stated about same time as lin

    • blubell
    • takemeback2reaganyears

      What a great guy.

    • Steppen03

      You guys are great!
But I think the debate is a Non-debate regarding JL7 as SG. Hands down, he has already proven that he can take on the 1 and 2 duties. Let’s just say with Kemba & Lin – we have Two PGs that can run and gun with any teams. It’s all about the Chemistry. Defenses can be good with Batum, CZ, and Al. Now, that Al can focus more on D and less on Al-fense. He will have more easy baskets – thus wasting less energy. MKG & Batum can take turns. Kemba & Lamb can take turns.
Once, thanks for all the info and materials coming into this site, gals & guys =)

    • Steppen03

I know, I don’t think that’s an option. Coach Cliff have to make it work – Kemba & Lin closing games together. Both are very fast and dynamic – easy buckets, scoring in bunches. Like others have pointed out, Kemba can have higher 3-fg with better looks. If not, just swing it to the hot hands – Lin or Batum – and get assists.

    • I also agree Kemba/Lin is just a stop-gap solution.
They won’t ever be SCurry/KThompson since Kemba is not a good enough shooter.

But if we look at Clifford & Cho’s perspective, they need to figure out how to make the pieces work short-term.
If they want to let Lin play more PT, he needs to be seen as “helping out” Kemba.
If they want to trade Kemba with good values, they need to get good stats out of him with Batum/Lin as playmakers.

So while noone sees Kemba/Lin as championship backcourt, it will have to do now.
Whether Lin or Kemba stays, it will be a future decision.

So they all need each other to win for the Hornets now, which is not a bad thing at all.

    • KHuang

      I disagree.

When D’Antoni was coaching Phoenix, his teams got obliterated by teams with post up players.

Also, the lack of a post up game would cause the Suns to have to take far more difficult shots than teams with post up players took.

I distinctly remember that Al Jefferson would AVERAGE 30 points and 20 rebounds against D’Antoni’s Suns with little Shawn Marion guarding him. Jefferson’s lowly Wolves would murder the Suns. But then the Suns brought in Shaquille O’Neal and that completely stopped Jefferson and the losing.

    • Alain Gervais

so i don’t see the game on LP. this will be the case all preseason I’m guessing

    • blubell
    • KHuang

I think that MKG being injured relieves some of the logjam of nonshooters in the starting lineup.

In the 2nd unit, Jeremy Lamb now gets to play significantly more.

Were the Hornets a pure meritocracy, Jeremy Lamb would be the starting SG and MKG would be a backup 3.

    • CJSHYY

      Lamb starts? Interesting…

    • Alain Gervais

he did 2nd haif so no surprise

    • KHuang

Jeremy Lin lazily dribbles upcourt, only one guy guarding him.

Once regular season begins, teams will start sending two guys at Lin just like Western Conference oppnents have been doing for years.

    • CJSHYY

I guess bc he played well yesterday.

    • Alain Gervais

plus he will likely finish the game again

    • KHuang

      Good move.

Lamb deserves to start and should remain the starter even after MKG returns.

The starters desperately need Lamb’s cutting and scoring and fundamental soundness and athleticism.

It’s the UCONN NCAA Championship backcourt!

    • KHuang

Lamb is a fantastic young player, a cross between hot shooting Allan Houston and spectacularly athletic Latrell Sprewell.

    • CJSHYY

Do you think they will replace him for Batum?

    • devin23

True. But if it was up to you, would you rather start lin or lamb next to Kemba?

    • KHuang

BETTER than Redick as an SG.

Redick doesn’t have Lin’s speed or strength or lift.

    • KHuang

As long as Lin plays starter minutes, I’m good.

    • CJSHYY

If Lin starts then who will take the 2nd unit? Lamb is SG not PG.

    • KHuang

      Absolutely he can.

    • devin23

Yup, I mean since hornets are intent on letting walker start, lin has to play backup… can’t have Robert playing pg… but its preseason so I think they should look to have kemba and lin together as much as possible

    • CJSHYY

I think they will probably in 4Q.

    • KHuang

      TOTALLY WRONG.

Thompson and Beal were SHUT DOWN by Lin.

Thompson is like one inch taller than Lin and cannot break free of Lin for his shots. Beal is SMALLER than Lin.

Neither player has dared try to post up Lin who is stronger and heavier than either of them.

    • KHuang

Lin roasted Wes Matthews and shut him down in the Portland series.

You gotta go by ACTUAL GAME RESULTS.

    • devin23

Most likely. Still irks me though that both lin and lamb belong as starter next to batum and kemba is the true 6th man.. Oh well. In fact, both kemba and mkg should be playing bench. one can’t shoot 3 and the other is more a defensive specialist who also can’t shoot 3 to space floor.

    • QuietLinFan

Anybody knows how I can watch the games in Vancouver BC? NBA Team Pass has a note that says:”Blackout Notice
Based on your current location, you are unable to view live nationally broadcast games. ” Not sure what that means. Thanks.

    • bolero

I also try to buy a ticket. All sold out…

    • blueCypher

That means the game is on TV in your area

    • Alain Gervais

lol me two. have sun sport they decided not to show the game. sooooooooo…… its preseason so they don’t care

    • QuietLinFan

Sorry, I meant watching the Charlotte games on NBA Team Pass

    • Alain Gervais

im in florida cant find the local channel

    • Ben Johnson

Anyone have a HD Link for tonights game? Thanks!

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Check your sport channel in your area, they might show it on TV in Canada.

    • blueCypher

This is essentially the main reason League Pass is a no-no for me

    • Alain Gervais

they do this to local games only

    • blueCypher

For sure the Raptors-Clippers game is on TV in Canada. It is on TSN2

    • Alain Gervais

and ;resign so the local channel showing tb playoff game rather then nab preseason

    • blueCypher

They blackout national tv games too

    • KHuang

      I’d start Lamb.

He’s an amazing shooting guard talent with All Star potential. With minutes and experience, he could easily become the best shooting guard in the NBA.

Charlotte right now needs Lin to come off the bench and make sure the offense flows right.

In an ideal world, Lin AND Lamb start together as the NBA’s best backcourt.

    • Alain Gervais

yes i have all those channels but since in preseason they are not showing it on those channels. its baseball right now.

    • KHuang

PJ Hairston and Troy Daniels will cover the 2nd unit at SG.

They’re ideal players to play with Lin because they have good fundamentals and will cut to open areas while leaving the creativity to Lin.

    • joyce ward

So lin once again is given the task to train up the rookies. The second unit has nothing but rookies.

    • KHuang

You can have Roberts at PG as long as Lin’s at SG protecting him.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      All ESPNs?

    • KHuang

As long as Lin gets around 30 minutes and isn’t frozen out, I’m fine with Lin training the rookies.

    • devin23

My thoughts EXACTLY!. If it wasn’t for politics, lin and lamb should have been in the starting lineup already… Lin/lamb/batum. and we’re set at the 1, 2,3… put kemba and mkg to the bench. have William start for now but groom frank to be the eventual starter at PF once he’s comfortable out there. Start Al for now but limit his post up and encourage him to play better defense, otherwise, have zeller at center.
My ideal starting lineup would be lin/lamb/batum/frank/al or zeller with walker 6th man

    • pandaboy99

good i want to see kaminksy and lin play some more together

    • joyce ward

I don’t mind him training the rookies, but I want the coaching staff to acknowledge and give lin his props for this. Lin was the one responsible for kaminsky’s game last night.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I see Foxsport Heat showing the game if you’re in Miami

    • devin23

agreed. If lin doesn’t play at least 30 min a game this season, charlotte’s not going to win much

    • Dorothy

Kemba responding to Lin’s play with his own good shooting today. It will only make the team better. I like seeing a Walker who can hit shots.

    • KHuang

I like Al Jefferson starting against teams like Utah which has long armed Rudy Gobert intimidating everyone.

With Jefferson on the block, shotblockers like Gobert cannot zone perimeter drivers like Lin and Lamb. That’s because if Gobert comes over to help guard Lin or Lamb, Jefferson would attack the rim and make Utah pay.

Charlotte’s other bigs do not have the inside dominance that Jefferson does.

i would say not this season. Walker is not another bev or Price. Walker could play and is good. I know we would all like Lin to start but he was told he would be a back up, play his style of basketball, and play significant minutes. If Clifford holds his end of the deal, I would say Lin was treated well this year. His coach was honest with him and Lin was happy with the situation.

I do believe they brought in Hansbourough in part to play with Lin this season just as Khuang wanted. And they even brought in Lamb, another Khuang favorite.

This Hornets roster is as close as Khang can get to playing GM in real life. Add in Andrew Nichols via trade and some other Khuang specials like Matt Stainbrook and we really may have something.

No hesitation. They gave him some space & he made them pay

    • blubell

      JEremy scores!

    • GoodDayLA

Charlotte knows what we know. Lin is GREAT off triple threat. They put him in a lot of triple threat positions and Lin is attacking quick and pulling up for jumpers he has not pulled up for since Linsanity.

I can’t wait till Lin plays with Lamb and they bring up the ball interchangeably and put Lin in triple threat and mix in on ball action too.

    • sport

JLin playing with ease and taking his shots at the right time and picking his spots. Being very decisive playing the SG spot. Haven’t seen him this confident and comfortable in a long time!

    • LimitedEdition

      Pretty good first quarter

    • yup, we’re seeing what Lin’s capable of by draining open midrange Js.
Double screens set up just for Lin to get him open is nice to see.

CHA coaches know Lin’s strength & use it well so far

    • BuzzerBeater

Just 2 assists from the team so far! Miami has 7 already. Definitely did not see anything close to the ball movement from the 1st unit like last night. I think Batum’s absence has to do with it.

    • JustSayNo2HardensIso

Great game so far. This is the first time I’m seeing Tyler H play and I’m pretty impressed. Love his energy and toughness.

    • GoodDayLA

truth will be when Kemba and Lin overlap. Coaches keeping that from happening so far

    • Alain Gervais

have to give credit to miami good pnr defense so far

    • Ulysses Modder

Pre season Lin playing the SG

So Cliff is preparing Lin to play with Kemba many games this season, especially last quarter

    • jlim7

Hansbrough got rebound off free throw.

    • I’d very much like to see it in this game. Maybe 3rd quarter

    • Great ball movement by CHA resulting in Frank’s wide-open 3. Nice!
      32-26

    • GoodDayLA

Frank can really shoot. Not a pick and roll guy really though.

    • GoodDayLA

wel I don’t need to see it but yes better to let them play some together for better or worse lol

    • JustSayNo2HardensIso

I don’t like that move by Lin. He had a turnover last night with that same move where he brings the ball in front of his body.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin on weak side being iced out off ball…

    • GoodDayLA

Lin playing 2 undersized, getting blocked on jumpers, too small on defense. As I predicted a long time ago.

    • Lin needs to be careful with Green’s leaping ability.

    • grover chang

      ouch, ugly block by green

    • GoodDayLA

no Lin should be playing PG with a big SG running mate or with a BIG PG who is six foot six like Iman Shumpert

    • sport

Bad plays by Lin after that bad TO. :/

    • He’ll learn. Green’s a former slam-dunk champion so definitely a leaper

    • BUZZCITY17

Gerald Green is using his size and length to disrupt Lin

    • BUZZCITY17

Lin should not be playing the 2 right now.. he should be running the point

    • GoodDayLA

no he is too small. Its what happens to Kemba as an undersized PG which is why I don’t believe Kemba can do that much. Same with Lin at the 2 unless someone like JJ Reddick is guarding him. Otherwise these long 2’s who can play some 3 are too long and big for Lin on both ends.

    • JLin isn’t the same with his rhythm when he’s not the PG.
He can make shots but not as effective as when he’s directing offense

    • BUZZCITY17

Lin can only play 2 when the opposing 2 is the same size as him

    • Alain Gervais

its a test for the regular season see how he handles the 2 vs a taller sg.

    • BUZZCITY17

      well its clearly not working

    • GoodDayLA

what you want is put Lin at the PG or with a big PG. That way the other team must decide whether to put their small PG on Lin or put their SG on Lin which then puts their small PG on Lin’s six foot six plus running mate to slaughter that small PG defender.

    • Lin has to dig deep to get taller SGs off-balance to get off shots. Or fadeaway jumpers ala MJ
But yeah, it’ll be tougher indeed with taller SGs

    • Good D by Lin to challenge Wade w/ fouling.
      Wade missed

    • Alain Gervais

      heat really defending the pnr

    • QuietLinFan

Just started watching the game… and Lin not playing well. Always happens to me. =) =(

    • BUZZCITY17

Wade abusing Lin in the paint

    • GoodDayLA

no crap. Lin is too small to play 2

    • spiderman

team playing well pushing toward 10 pt lead
      Lins fine

    • GoodDayLA

there is a reason his HS coach screams that Lin is a PG. He is 1 big strong PG but one small weak SG.

    • QuietLinFan

I know team playing well. but I always miss Lin playing great. Missed last night’s game too. hahah

    • spiderman

      2 pts isnt abuse

    • relax .. let’s see how Lin adjusts against DWade

    • yes, Lin made Wade miss the prior possession too.
      It’s 50-50 now

    • CJSHYY

I agree. Missed one shot then he is not OK? Haha! NO big deal.

    • BUZZCITY17

its not only the points.. its just pure physical dominance

    • grover chang

Is it me, or does the Heat seem to like to target Lin in games, since Linsanity.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin is not being used like in NY. He is being used like in Houston second season tonight. And he’s making mistakes on top of it. Not loving it. I bet Lin himself thinks he can play 2, but I don’t agree with him and other fans.

    • GoodDayLA

no he’s playing out of position.

    • BUZZCITY17

Lin can only play 2 when the other team uses 2 PG’s int he backcourt.. not when they have a big 2 like Wade.. it wont work that way

    • Alain Gervais

its not that heat are defending pNR. so lin taking a back seat because other people open

    • BUZZCITY17

      Lin Out

    • BUZZCITY17

Clifford took Lin out.. its Houston and LA all over again

    • GoodDayLA

With MKG’s injury and now Lamb starting, I think Lin is going to be playing exclusively SG off the bench

    • BuzzerBeater

thats what preseason is for, we always knew he was going to be tested at the 2. He’s not as effective (Ive never been a fan of him at the 2, he’s simply too small) so he probably wont see much time at the 2 in the regular season.

    • KHuang

      Friggin please

Dwayne Wade scores on EVERYONE, if you haven’t noticed.

    • It’s okay .. Lin’s up for the challenge to play PG & SG to play a big role in Hornets.
Gotta admire him for stepping up to the challenge.

    • KHuang

      NONSENSE.

Lin’s side went way ahead while he was in the game.

Lin was playing with 3 guys with hardly any NBA experience, and the only other guy with NBA experience is scrubby Brian Roberts who shot 40% last year.

The three missing rotation players is making a slight difference.

    • zxcvb

Lin playing well despite quiet stats — beating a far superior team talent-wise. Nice unselfish play, letting other guys shine. It’s preseason, so stop freaking out!

He already showed “the goods” last game. Tonight, the defense is loading up on him so Roberts is feasting. BTW, last game he was 1-3 at the half as well.

    • zxcvb

It’s preseason. Notice Lin settling for 100% jumpers as well.

    • BUZZCITY17

      NONSENSE.

Why is Roberts still in the game and Lin out than? Thats because Lin was struggling in the second quarter.. the reason Clifford took him out.

    • Alain Gervais

      he is hot

    • orLinaryjoe

      PTSD

    • it’s about the same rotation as last night 🙂
Last 3 min in Q3 until last 3 min in Q2

The difference is Lin played PG last night but SG tonight so his full impact is not felt

    • TTNN

      preseason, come on

    • BUZZCITY17

      and Lin is not

    • CJSHYY

I totally agree. Look at Dragic, he didn’t even take any shot at all so far. Plus preseason it’s for coach to see all the guys who fight for the spot.

    • BUZZCITY17

Lin was taken out at 5:32 in 2nd

    • KHuang

      Cut your whining.

Lin has a SCRUB POINT GUARD in Roberts who shot 40% (enough with your “Roberts shoots better than Lin” fantasy).

Lin also had scrub Aaron Harrison, a rusty Tyler Hansbrough who’s never touched the ball this much in the last 3 seasons, and hot shooting Kaminsky.

The season is NOT OVER for Lin yet!

    • Alain Gervais

lol he was on fire and its preseason. take a look at him

    • BUZZCITY17

last night he had 6 pts 4 ast and 4 reb.. he only has 4 pts 0 ast tonight

    • KHuang

NONSENSE, you’re making stuff up out of thin air.

Lin’s side went way ahead while he was in the game.

It’s not as if Lin’s opponents caught fire.

Stop trashing your own team’s player.

    • Alain Gervais

I’m waiting to see how lin react to the pNR game not quite being there.

    • zxcvb

      Scoreboard, baby. Troll elsewhere.

    • GoodDayLA

      I disagree with you.

    • Spyckie

Lin out and the quality of shot for the hornets just doesn’t look the same

    • GoodDayLA

Brian Roberts is not scrubby. I watched him a lot and seen him shoot like this often when he was a Pelican.

    • spiderman

i wonder if Dragic fans freak out as much as some Lin fans do

    • BUZZCITY17

well hes not contributing to taht scoreboard

    • BuzzerBeater

Hopefully that was the end of the Jeremy at the 2 experiment lol I dont like him playing 2 vs natural SGs because they’re obviously usually bigger.
Like someone mentioned, only when the other team goes for a 2 PG lineup, then Im ok with it.

    • KHuang

      No they don’t.

Lin’s “fans”, a lot of them think he’s DONE if he doesn’t play like a MVP.

    • zxcvb

+4, 4p on 3 FGA, Roberts feasting with Lin drawing the defensive attention.

    • BUZZCITY17

Lin has to show he can do more than just run PnR.. he has to be a triple threat.. work on his isolation game.. and work on his chef curry game

    • GoodDayLA

theres no backup SG now. So Lin will probably be cemented at SG now until MKG comes back.

    • spiderman

      gets hilarious

    • CJSHYY

Haha! Ya! Think about it. Batum is not playing at all today so he’s out now? LOL!

    • zxcvb

      Dragic doesn’t have race-trolls, ha.

    • GoodDayLA

not his style. He’s a driver.

    • KHuang

      Disagree.

Let’s try putting Lin with a bunch of veterans, not a 40% shooter like Roberts and two rookies and a guy that has hardly played the last 3 seasons.

    • spiderman

      he’s DONE!

    • BUZZCITY17

well Linsanity 2.0 wont happen unless he works on those things

    • Alain Gervais

he is a driver. curry is a three shooter. when curry tried to drive a lot in the finals when his threes wasn’t there the result was bad. he has to stay true to his game

    • 3:48 in Q2 vs ORL
      5:33 in Q2 vs MIA

    • KHuang

Dude, you are admiring a 40% shooter from last season.

Don’t HOODWINK the NBA veteran fans here who know better than to believe your tale that “Roberts shoots better than Lin”.

    • Alain Gervais

his three is already good enough. he just have to take em. its open. but driving is his thang

    • GoodDayLA

You guys all wonder why Lin was wonderful yesterday and not as good today? So obvious. Size.

Some small midget was guarding Lin in Orlando. Stupid Scott Skiles put a smallish guard on Lin. Lin eats those people for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Today, they put a springy long Green on Lin and made Lin guard Green off screens and picks.

It’s truly as simple as that.

    • Alain Gervais

      already calling the coach stupid.

    • BUZZCITY17

thats a 2 minute difference.. you can do a lot in 2 minutes

    • GoodDayLA

yes Scott Skiles has like 10 kids with 8 women. I call him stupid.

    • grover chang

c’mon, now you are just trolling. Second game of preseason. Don’t be cruel. You know everyone here has PTSD from the last two teams.

    • BuzzerBeater

but what does that have to do with Jeremy being stripped and blocked with ease by Green? and struggling with DWade? They’re just bigger and have the advantage over him with playing their natural position.

    • KHuang

You are new to having Lin on your team – and obviously not new to trashing Lin.

Lin’s historically been able to score without the pick and roll.

As Lin gains familiarity with these players he’s never played with, his stats will improve to the point that you won’t be able to fire unwarranted criticism at your own team’s player.

    • Lin is more likely to be the next Nash than being the next Curry.
      He’ll be fine 🙂

It’s best to let him find his own path.

    • GoodDayLA

well first you got to let him play PG. He’s playing SG. Then lets talk.

    • Alain Gervais

lin play so called not good 10 point lead. he is out and wheres the lead?

    • KHuang

DO NOT make up this silly fantasy out of thin air for a guy that shoots well from outside.

    • zxcvb

Or it’s one half of one preseason game. On the road on the 2nd day of a back to back.

      And he grew the lead.

    • KHuang

      Friggin please.

Your fantasies of Lin being incapable at 2 are getting tiring.

    • KHuang

It’s called THE NBA where anybody can have two rough possessions in the row.

      Even Lebron
      Even Duncan.

    • GoodDayLA

You prefer Lin do stepbacks and do iso jumpers instead of doing what he does with ease which is blow past his man for an acrobatic layup or dump off to a big?

Don’t need Lin to be JR Smith or dancing Kyrie

    • orLinaryjoe

Lead going out the door with him out

    • well, part of it ..

We see Lin being more aggressive playing PG, not SG.
It’s just how he’s built. Nash playing SG probably would be worse.

I want to see how coaches and Lin himself adjust after half-time

    • TTNN

notice today both first line up and second line up don’t have two P&R ball handler on the floor. And it is time for Lamb and Robert to handle the ball. Give them plenty of time on ball. It is pre-season, They need to try out every player and every combination.

    • spiderman

      no, it’s NBA FINALS — season’s OVER!

    • KHuang

You need to stop hating and start enjoying.

Lin’s team went up while he was in the game.

    • joyce ward

As a moderator, why are you letting this Buzzcity 17 troll this site? He posted some pretty trollish things last night.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Looked at AS number can tell. Right now less than 10? smh!

    • Alain Gervais

brian robert went off because how much attention lin had on him

    • GoodDayLA

He can play the 2. But he needs a bigger 1 next to him. HIs performance will turn amazing more efficient when that happens.

    • orLinaryjoe

Yes, Lin needs to play at point here.

    • zxcvb

Career is OVER! Sports in America is OVER! Everything is OVER!

    • KHuang

You are ANGRY that Lin’s team raced ahead with the lead while he is in the game at SG

    • spiderman

it’s the end of the world!

    • grover chang

well, I think only thing one could really say the Lin as SG experiment did not look good so far. The Lin as pg looked great.

    • Alain Gervais

      lamb shoots way too much

    • TTNN

that’s the game plan, you want to see how he could handle the ball and how he could play if you ask him to organize offense. Notice Lamb got lots of opportunities too.

    • KHuang

      Bad Day in LA!

    • zxcvb

      “…and I feel fine.”

    • JW

so both Al and Batum are sitting today then. They want to see the rest of the big guys perform. So Lin gets the short straw to play w/ the 3rd strings. Doing well then considering.

    • orLinaryjoe

That has a lot of truth. Don’t blame coach experimenting. Preseason yall

    • very true. Spoelstra definitely put the emphasis to press Lin more.
      Nothing new 🙂

Roberts basically had an open lane to the rim

    • GoodDayLA

we’ll see this season. Roberts is a steady shooter in my opinion. I believe Lin has improved his shot this season and will be one of the top 3 shooters on this team as well. As of last season, I’d say Roberts was a better jumper shooter but Lin may have outworked him this summer to move past him.

I don’t know until we watch this season unfold.

    • BuzzerBeater

Im not using 2 possessions as a sample size, I stated I have NEVER been a fan of him at the 2, he’s never been too effective. Its goes back as far as the Houston days.

    • KHuang

      NO HE DOESN’T.

He needs his 3 inexperienced players and his one scrub PG to keep extending the lead they earned!

    • zxcvb

Yep. And he’s only shooting jumpers, too. No need to risk his body in preseason and he needs to be reliable with that J during the season. Maybe he’ll turn it up in the 2nd half. Maybe not. I don’t want him charging into traffic for a meaningless exhibition…end up like MKG.

    • JW

that’s why it’ll be better later on when it’ll be Walker/Batum, Walker/Lin, Lin/Batum. other team can’t stack it up this way against those combos.

    • orLinaryjoe

      Lol. That is funny.

    • KHuang

Like I said, you are no fan of Lin PERIOD.

Lin played the 2 in Houston. Did just fine – just like now.

Too bad Lin established the lead for your team.

    • orLinaryjoe

      Lol

    • KHuang

      And true

    • zxcvb

He wasn’t even guarded half the time. 1-on-0. Good for him on delivering!

    • KHuang

Hansbrough hasn’t played in 3 years – and he’s BEASTING.

Kaminsky is making Justice Winslow look like a wasted pick.

The Harrison rookie somehow made it onto a NBA court.

Brick shooting Brian Roberts scored more than his season average last year.

Lin’s team seized the lead while he was in the game.

      Why are haters complaining???

    • KHuang

      Flagged.

Administration, this hate troll attacks me on the other forum too.

    • Relax, folks. Take a deep breath. Don’t stress yourself too much
      It’s still preseason 🙂

It’s time for coaches to experiment. As long as Lin gives his best, that’s all we can do as fans to expect from him.
Even if Lin’s not the next LeBron or Nash, I’ll be okay. Still cheering for him 100%

    • KHuang

And now the troll is firing personal attacks as always.

    • Alain Gervais

      khuang has been exemplary

    • let’s cool it. no personal attacks. 1st warning

    • Alain Gervais

lol this happens every game enjoy it. it was go back to happy days soon

    • JLin Fan from Australia
    • BuzzerBeater

psalm please scroll below to see him accuse ME of not being a fan of Jeremy for saying I didnt like him at the 2, then says Ive already attacked him? I only post here and dont think Ive ever acknowledged him before.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Wow, you people need to relax. This is preseason and it’s not even over yet. B2B game

    • ok, let me look. but please refrain from calling names
      let’s just enjoy the game

    • KHuang

Now that the troll has been removed, we can get back to appreciating the lead that Lin earned.

    • orLinaryjoe

Bringing some negative juju here from other site. Warning at least.

    • KHuang

Lebron and Nash have stretches like this too.

Besides, Lin’s team went ahead. What’s there to complain about???

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Only the crazy would think Lin plays 2 next to Roberts in the regular season.

    • BBL

Is it possible that Lin is taken out early so that he can come back early to play with Kamba just to test out Clifford’s plan of playing them together ?

    • KHuang

      I’m REALLY enjoying this.

      Lin gets the lead AGAIN.

Basketball is a team sport. It’s not about individual glory.

    • grover chang

good point. This is a charlotte hornets preseason game not the Lin show. Cliffords job is to evaluate the whole roster. This is not the Lin show for him. The game is just the Lin show in our little world, not the rest of the outside world.

    • TTNN

yeah, that’s why you want to try everything during preseason game

    • BuzzerBeater

I apologize for that, but i felt insulted when someone who I dont even know calls me a fake Lin fan because I dont see Jeremy in the perfect light as him. Ive been here 2 years, have never been rude to anyone so he’s also lying about that. I guess he’s confusing me with someone else. Feel free to check IPs if possible.

    • KHuang

If it happens in the regular season, it’ll be just fine because by then the other three players on the court will have some experience unlike today.

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

exactly. an its a mental game. they took pnr away from lin. lets see how coach and lin react to change that

    • Sophie Paris

Right! I’m just chillin’ and enjoy the game 8)

    • blubell
    • KHuang

      FLAGGED AGAIN.

Adminstration, this troll is trying to destroy this forum.

    • TTNN

you better behave, don’t try to attack people here

    • BUZZCITY17

how am I doing that? explain

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin will run 1 if he’s not playing with Walker. Robert will not get lots of mins.

    • Dorothy

He is a troll lol. I already flagged him.

    • KHuang

You’re firing personal attacks at me.

You are DISRESPECTING Administration’s warnings to not fire personal attacks.

    • GoodDayLA

i wish that was the case

    • JLin Fan from Australia

Please observe this site rules. Respect all posters and no personal attacks. Warning is given for the posters continue to attack any other poster. I won’t give anymore warning if I see any disrespect but delete/blacklist the poster depending on the severity of each post.

    • TTNN

      kind of noticed

    • CJSHYY

I agree w Nathan bc Batum is not even playing at all. But I can understand why Lin’s fans are panic bc due to 2 bad teams experience. It’s preseason. Look at Dragic, it’s not even take that many shots at all.

    • KHuang

This troll is here to WRECK this forum.

      The personal attacks continue.

    • GoodDayLA

      LOL i love it.

    • blubell

he will be automatically banned if he is flagged by many posters.

    • grover chang

As it should be in the preseason, as Clifford said it would be during preseason. This is only game 2 and I have not seen Clifford’s actions not match his words so far, unlike BS.

    • joyce ward

      Me too.

    • ok, I think there’s some misunderstanding here.

I see your discussion with KHUang was quite civil down there.
Not sure what happened. Probably misunderstanding with others.
      I’ll look further later

    • KHuang

Yes, please rule this place with an IRON FIST.

      We can disagree respectfully.

    • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes I’ve begun to do so.

    • Alain Gervais

for buzzcity k huang has been here for years and I’ve never seen him get in a argument with anyone. if he is saying your trolling just chill.

    • JustSayNo2HardensIso

I just watched coach’s interview from before the game. He says Lin has big role “Playing with Kemba AND as backup pg.” Maybe coach may start LIn as SG? Looks like they want him succeed at the 2 guard.

    • please refrain from calling people names. 1st warning
Otherwise this board will be full of non-basketball stuff

Let’s just focus on the game.

    • GoodDayLA

Hans borough blocked. Seen that a lot. Can’t get off the ground fast enough. Not lengthy or springy

    • KHuang

      OK OK.

      We are LIN FANS here.

      Let’s just enjoy the game!

    • grover chang

LOL, feels like old times on the Lin site with games again. Giddy lovefest when Lin playing well. Traumatic panic when Lin plays poorly. Equal amount of comments.

    • Alain Gervais

      ok

    • KHuang

      Lin’s NOT EVEN PLAYING POORLY!

    • Alain Gervais

      heat making run

    • sport

These preseason games has been boring.

    • KHuang

He’s totally out of synch from not having played the last three seasons.

He still has an impressive statline, blocked or not.

By the way, EVERYBODY gets blocked in the NBA. Just because a guy gets blocked doesn’t mean he lacks game.

    • Alain Gervais

      better then nothing

    • GoodDayLA

I do think he is a good player. but that is his shortcoming. If he can get it together and find ways to finish or get fouled, he will be a tough cover.

    • BuzzerBeater

      psalm…are you reading this?

    • Hornets definitely missed Batum’s presence to be a playmaker tonight.
Offense is not flowing as well

    • GoodDayLA

I dislike the Walker mid range chucks.

    • KHuang

Lamb getting scored on by perennial All Star Wade more than Lin did.

How come people aren’t moaning that Lamb is “too short to guard SG”?

That said, Wade is one of the NBA’s best shooting guards. One doesn’t earn all those All Star titles and championships without being able to score on anyone.

    • TTNN

both Kemba and Lamb were just chucking.

    • KHuang

      Jefferson’s inside presence missing too.

When he’s in the game, it forces opponents to pay attention to him.

    • GoodDayLA

      Lambs at least might fall

    • GoodDayLA

because lamb is taller than Lin and Wade.

    • JW

lamb is 2/11 and walker is 3/9

    • KHuang

Draymond Green is shorter and lighter than Hansbrough, plus he gets blocked by 6’3″ guards.

Why are you not complaining that Draymond Green is too small then?

    • KHuang

So your reasoning is that if the taller guy gets scored on more than the shorter guy, the taller guy is the better defender?

    • BuzzerBeater

I think he confused me with BUZZcity, Im BUZZbeater, have been here for 2 years and he got all upset when I disagreed with him thinking I was the troll. Oh well.

    • JustSayNo2HardensIso

Why do you think Coach doesn’t play Kemba with Lin. He keeps talking about it, seems like preseason would be perfect time to see how they do.

    • KHuang

      off is off.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin was mostly guarding Green during his time in the game.

    • sport

Agree, waiting to see Lin and Kemba playing at the same time.

    • KHuang

The traditional swingmen ought to get the first crack at meshing with Walker.

    • GoodDayLA

i do wonder why too. I think you will see it in China when smallish 2 guard Reddick plays against Lin.

    • KHuang

Yeah, and Green scored on Lamb too.

You weren’t complaining that Lamb was too short then or now.

    • Alain Gervais

its the 2nd day and the second game its way to early. a lot of people are playing.

    • blubell
    • grover chang

I would say one turnover and one block was not good

    • I think your posts got mistaken with BuzzCity and things flared up.
Let’s take a breather & just enjoy the game.

Tense moments in games can certainly get things heated up.

    • Alain Gervais

      lamb 2-11

    • TTNN

      Lin in!

    • JustSayNo2HardensIso

Lin Kemba and Lamb playing together!!

    • KHuang

I love Lamb, but that STINKS!

Oh well. This is the NBA where anybody can have a poor shooting game.

    • very true.. open lane inside w/o Jefferson

    • Wade kept fouling JLin 🙂

    • JW

Lin showing some defense right away against wade

    • TTNN

Coach still want to win, two playmaker on the floor now.

    • orLinaryjoe

      3 guard?

    • sport

      Finally Lin in with Walker!!

    • sport

      About time!

    • what we want to see .. Kemba/Lin 🙂

    • Alain Gervais

      lol lin getting to wadel

    • GoodDayLA

Wade cannot keep up with Lin’s footspeed. Sportsta will take Wade out soon to avoid embarrassment.

    • Alain Gervais

      lineup causing fits lol good

    • Michael

Good morning all, just woke up and late to the party. Seems like a lot is going on from the posts.

    • CaliUSMC

      Lin taking the charge!

    • Smart Lin smartly drew offensive charge from Luol Deng 🙂

    • Easy layup by Lin 😀

    • BuzzerBeater

thank u mod! just in case, im not interacting with him again in case he confuses me again lol

    • TTNN

      wow, Lin’s team defense!

    • blubell
    • Lin smartly decided to stop Dragic’s easy layup then back to cover Green who airballed 😀

      Great team-defense by JLin!

    • KHuang

      WHOOP, game over!

      Lin GOT HIS.

    • CaliUSMC

Anyone know if MJ is watching any of the pre-season games?

    • grover chang

      Lin everywhere on defense

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Am I witnessing the Hornets best back court?

    • not sure if he has BallStreams 😀

    • Briiick

      Like it !

    • grover chang

      LOL!!

    • Alain Gervais

this isn’t la or houston. this coach is really smart. he adjusted perfectly. trust in him please

    • KL

      This lineup is looking good.

    • zxcvb

Lin comes in, everything gets fixed.

Takes a charge, gets FTs, spaces floor for Kemba, forces airball on 3, hits layup.

    • cshot

loving the pace this line up is causing

    • Ulysses Modder

I do not want Lin playing at 2 in Hornets

    • CaliUSMC

      😀

    • grover chang

Walker seems fast to me. Seems to get to the key just fine.

    • blubell

      Lin the fixer!

    • takemeback2reaganyears

He plays both 1 and 2.

    • JW

they got 4 shooters on the court. spread that court

    • Alain Gervais

there was 3 guard out there it doesn’t matter what role he plays theres multiple pgs at all time

    • GoodDayLA

everyone get scored on. Lin is just better off guarding and facing 1’s than 2’s. My opinion only.

    • TTNN

      small ball with Hansbrough, perfect

    • Alain Gervais

      his energy helps that lineup.

    • zxcvb

I’d like to see Kemba pass more to Lin, but it’s preseason and he’s probably done for the night after the 3Q.

Something to watch going forward. He did give the ball up twice so far to Lin.

    • blubell
    • devin23

but he’s not known to finish well. his fg only reach 40% like one season

    • JW

Miami got their starters off the court so it doesn’t look so bad

    • Ulysses Modder

Kemba seems what is used glue in the hands

He never looks to pass the ball to Lin

    • He’s been known to be sticky like that since last year

    • blubell
    • JW

Lin got caught there with the back door.

    • TTNN

there is a screen, the big did not do anything, they run that play twice.

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

      hansbrough missed that pass

    • Ulysses Modder

Today Cliff is being a very bad coach for Lin

    • zxcvb

LOL washburn. Jeremy gave him an easy dime.

    • Michael

      😛

    • orLinaryjoe

The guy who threatens his job

    • blubell
    • Weifang

because no one ever passed to him like that before I guess.

    • zxcvb

Lin did his job today. Now he’s playing with scrubs and trying to help them — it’s preseason after all.

    • TTNN

      who’s that?

    • Rick Johnson

Pre-season. Just trying to see what works.

    • zxcvb

Rookie big from Wyoming? Makes 2 TOs in his first minute of play.

    • blubell

      Rookie

    • I hope they let Lin play PG in the 4th quarter

    • TTNN

did you just change login and come back? Stop trying to stir up things

    • JW

only 2 guys double digit. and 8 assists.
Not as good of a team ball as last night

    • blubell

He is coaching them on the court.

    • but I think they want to evaluate Brian Roberts at PG tonight, hm..

    • zxcvb

Missing Batum and Al. Miami fouling a lot, being physical.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Not many ball movement at all.

    • cshot

      i don’t like this robertsguy…

    • zxcvb

Yep. Washburn messed up, but Lin tried to find him anyway to build confidence.

Lin remembers being in GSW and no one ever helping him.

    • KHuang

      Missing Hawes too.

He was even more impactful last game that Jefferson and Batum were.

    • zxcvb

Lin playing with 3 rooks and Brian Roberts, ha.

    • sport

Lin needs to be the PG right now.

    • Alain Gervais

lin needs to take the ball

    • this is such a bad lineup .. especially when he’s not PG :[

    • blubell

Rookies are making rookie mistakes lol.

    • zxcvb

Relax, people. It’s preseason. If this were a real game, Lin would be in with the real closers.

    • yeah, think of this Q4 as a science experiment =)

    • Alain Gervais

      roberts man

    • GoodDayLA

why is Lin just being off the ball standing in the corner ?

    • devin23

man lin is playing with some scrubs for a 2nd unit…

    • KHuang

      Goran Dragic, WHERE ARE YOU?

He’s the guy with a max contract, yet he’s getting outplayed by everybody!

Dragic earns more than all of Charlotte’s PGs put together!

I like Dragic, but he’s an ice cube on a Heat team!

    • BUZZCITY17

why is Lin being passive again?

    • sport

Why can’t Lin play as PG with the rookies?

    • JW

Lin’s 1st assist. Gave to Roberts in rhythm for that 3

    • cshot

cus he’s playing how the coach wants him to lol. letting the scrubs get some playing time

    • Tommy

so much for understanding lins game
hasnt played as PG since 2nd half of last game lol

    • TTNN

they need to see how Robert behave….. especially when MKG is injured, and Batum will not play guards anymore. They need more guargs

    • GoodDayLA

more off ball standing in baseline hiding.

    • coach wants to see how Brian Roberts plays PG

    • Alain Gervais

its a test to see how he has played relax also mkg is hurt. lamb has to start.

    • Tommy

      hmmm but hes a pg

    • zxcvb

Lin maintaining the lead with these scrubs who can’t catch a pass or set a single screen is amazing.

    • KHuang

      It’s OK.

      Linstructor is doing fine.

The rookies and rusty vets need this experience in this MEANINGLESS game.

    • KHuang

      TEAMBALL!

    • JW

I think it says a lot more on coach’s trust for Lin. Coach needs to know if he is keeping Roberts or not as 3rd PG

    • zxcvb

They already know what Lin can do. But they don’t know if Roberts can play. I don’t either.

    • Rick Johnson

And can’t hold onto the ball

    • Hansbrough should’ve scored off Lin’s assist there

    • Michael

      Was that Lin and Hansbrough?

    • TTNN

      I know

    • joyce ward

Team has 19 players. Coach is evaluating who to keep for 2nd and third string players.

    • Tommy

hmm if you say so but if thats the case, shudnt play Lin more than 23mins

    • BUZZCITY17

      wow another travel by Lin

    • blubell
    • occupatio

roberts has been looking off lin all night. he’s clearly trying to push out lin for 2nd spot.

    • KHuang

Hansbrough has not been passed to for the last 3 seasons.

      He’s on offensive overload!

    • Rick Johnson

      Travel again?

    • zxcvb

Nice defense by Frank. Nice leadership by Lin.

No one can finish a Lin pass at the rim! Lin shoulda made that 3 though.

    • cshot

      are you serious?

    • Tommy

not sure if its trust or not knowing how to use Lin

    • GoodDayLA

and so it begins. Lin will get called for a lot of travels now this season to keep him from exploding.

    • could be Miami refs’ specialty 🙂

    • spiderman

      lol

    • zxcvb

      Ugly game.

    • orLinaryjoe

      Phantom travel

    • occupatio

      bs call

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

its preseason they call a lot early in the season every year

    • zxcvb

Lol wut? Travel? Obvious football foul. Beautiful fake by Lin. Should be FTs.

    • Roberts’ tunnel vision is not good for a PG
      Bad experiment for sure

    • JW

need to those travel replays. maybe lin too fast for ref to see.

    • occupatio

      refs are such haters

    • Tommy

Green is a very good player
he can be the starting SG for charlott but oh well

    • Alain Gervais

this is good experience for charlotte

    • zxcvb

Cheaters, maybe. Wonder what the betting line is.

    • blubell
    • orLinaryjoe

It’s the hair some how. Too distracting.

    • KHuang

He was awesome for Phx whenever he got into the game.

    • blubell

      Lin drives to the basket!

    • zxcvb

Joke reffing to end this game…someone’s getting PAID tonight.

    • occupatio

not really tunnel vision; he systemically looks away from lin, even when he is clearly the easier and shorter-distance outlet.

    • golfhacker

Kaminsky has to shoot that 3.

    • 808JLinBuzzzz

Thread the needle. Nice layup JLin.

    • I see JLin’s flying hair coming at opposing players is quite Lintimidating

    • blubell
    • pandaboy99

Ok double digits I can rest easy. Lin mission accomplished

    • Tommy

Another player who got buries because of politics…

    • occupatio

      bets on preseason games?

nah, like many refs, they just assume lin can’t play so they imagine mistakes before they even appear.

    • zxcvb

+12 playing with 3 rooks and Roberts. Ref cheating on 2 fake travels (last one was hilarious and should have been 2FTs).

      Mission accomplished.

    • KHuang

      Clifford playing Lin TO WIN!

    • zxcvb

Frank not shooting tonight, turned down 4-5 open Lin treys. I think he’s working on dribble-drive moves.

    • BUZZCITY17

Lin should not even be in the game right now with these scrubs.. if Clifford valued him like Kemba.. he would save him

    • LW

Kaminski has done it twice: give up Lin’s assist for a 3 and go for fancy moves towards the basket and miss both times!

    • Alain Gervais

      not there for him yet

    • occupatio

      another phantom call on lin

    • zxcvb

It’s okay…it’s preseason! He SHOULD be working on new things.

    • occupatio

      yes he was wide open

    • Alain Gervais

its testing out new moves he needs that drive to keep defender honest. its not in his game yet

    • cshot

      lol that was on lin???

    • BUZZCITY17

      Clifford playing him with scrubs

    • JW

Tyler and Kaminstky getting a lot of minutes tonite. Lin at 24 now

    • pandaboy99

I wonder if dragic fans are having meltdowns cuz of his 2 pts

    • Alain Gervais

lin and hansbarough plus 12 and plus 13

    • blubell
    • GoodDayLA

get use to phantom calls. otherwise Lin will be too good.

    • Ulysses Modder

So Cliff already understand the effect Lin in his team players.

Cliff will do everything to have Lin playing on the court until ofCenter

Lin will get many minutes this season

    • Tommy

Lin should sit hes played enuf

    • zxcvb

Roberts hogging it…too big for his britches!

Meanwhile, Lin (+10) beating the Heat with 3 rooks and a scrub.

    • occupatio

putting lin at 2 guard with roberts, i will be annoyed as heck if i have to see this pairing throughout the season

    • Clutch 3 by Frank who’s aware of the shot clock running out

    • Michael

They set that one up nicely too.

    • KHuang

      Roberts, Kaminsky, Hansbrough playing magnificently!

      GO ROBERTS!!!

    • blubell
    • KHuang

      No no, LET ROBERTS ATTACK.

The hot hand should get the ball.

Lin had his fun in the sun too.

    • Rick Johnson

Team is 12-29 (41.4%) for 3 pointers. Not bad

    • yes, except that Roberts was completely unaware of it per Heats announcer

    • occupatio

lin spent a lot of energy guarding green and wade. that’s a tough job. giving up height and reach, and mass. put in so much work on the defensive end, and just shut out by roberts on the other side.

    • JW

I think he does. this is preseason so he doesn’t need to see what he knows already.

    • Alain Gervais

the last 4 minutes lin was on cruise mode

    • blubell
    • Michael

      Blue that was too fast

    • TTNN

      Lin with +16……

Really suprise since he play with 3rd line up most of the times

    • KHuang

Hey, a $2 million player has to earn his keep any way he can!

    • zxcvb

Bravo, Lin. Destroyed the Heat while playing with 3 rooks and Roberts. And ref cheating.

      Gotta win ugly sometimes!

    • LW

May be Clifford wanted to test Lin’s defense

    • TTNN

Talking about defense, I really like Hornet’s team defense, and I also like how the coach used Lin in defense.

    • blubell
    • occupatio

      haha, win ugly indeed

    • zxcvb

Wants to help his rooks and 3rd stringers.
Lin is a leader on both ends and siphons the defense away on offense.

    • spiderman

      Lin provides LEADERSHIP

    • Tommy

If you are just testing scrubs, why play Lin so many mins in a meaningless preseason game

    • zxcvb

Charlotte won “pretty” against a weak team in ORL. Then they won “ugly” against a good team in Miami.

They’re gonna win a lot of games if Lin keeps playing.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

This is great work in progress, 2-0 on the road.

    • zxcvb

Without Lin, they have no organization or room to operate. Roberts was unguarded or single-coverage all night!

    • KL

Once Hansbrough learns to catch and dunk Lin’s passes, watch out rest of the league!

    • blubell

      Because the coach trusts Jeremy.

    • Tommy

      Lin wasnt playing PG anyways
      doesnt matter

    • Tommy

      doubtful
hasnt played his as PG since first half last game

    • KL

I think the coach didn’t want to be embarassed putting rooks and rusty players without a leader.

    • KHuang

      Hansbrough 17 rebounds?

Is that a career high for him?

I’m Hansbrough’s biggest fan, but what’s with the Dennis Rodman imitation?

    • excellent analysis.

And Roberts game as a PG was not to look for wide-open shooters at the 3P line once he drives inside so no passing back to Lin. He’s trying to reserve a spot in the team,

    • LW

It’s meaningless if you loose. It’s meaningful when you win!

    • zxcvb

Yes it does: spacing. Also, he did handle the ball a lot. But he gave it up to the rooks and Roberts.

    • zxcvb

      Preseason.

    • yes, and back-to-back games, too

    • spiderman

      its preseason

    • jlim7

Lin is there to baby sit, and to make Heat does not cheat on defense. Without Lin, maybe Heat will put pressure on Roberts.

    • KHuang

      Lin the CLOSER.

It’s been that way throughout Lin’s career.

Besides, the starters fired enough bricks to build an office building!

    • Kwok Wai Lai

      Those traveling calls are ridiculous.

    • TTNN

worth to check whether that’s a Hornets team high in history…… Really impressive

    • KHuang

      BEASTICLE

    • Alain Gervais

3rd quarter was my favorite. really turned the game. good experience for the rookies in the forth. lin allowing them to play

    • grover chang

Lin 4TO, are travel calls considered TO too?

    • Michael

Hahaha what on earth does that look like 😛

    • blubell

      Yes.

    • orLinaryjoe

      Unfortunately. Bogus.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

No helping in switching! Gosh it takes lots of patience.

    • TTNN

yeah, that was explosive after Lin come in to the game. Secure the lead, and then let the rookies play out. I like this coach a lot!!!

    • orLinaryjoe

      No pics please

    • zxcvb

Joke TOs. My only criticism tonight of Lin is that he missed both open 3s.

    • blubell

      I second that…

    • Alain Gervais

2 of them but they call those travels a lot early in the season then it stops.

    • TTNN

yes, two travel calls. The last one is really nonsense.

    • KHuang

I know that three seasons ago, Hansbrough dropped like 16 points and 17 rebounds on this Charlotte team.

So it may not be a career high or even close to one.

    • occupatio

yeah i was really happy with lin’s minute distribution. it was very continuous instead of broken up into short segments, like in houston

    • KHuang

      Where was Goran Dragic?

He’s max contract, but he got WHUPPED today.

    • orLinaryjoe

      Lol, ewww

    • Michael

Maybe to provide some structure on the offense, while letting Roberts run the point.

    • KHuang

      Lin’s haircuts

    • LW

Hansbrough now has to learn to roll with Lin

    • occupatio

      Goran who?

    • spiderman

I’m sure his fans don’t panic as much

    • KHuang

He’s just never played with a REAL point guard ever in his entire NBA existence until this game!

    • orLinaryjoe

Teacher needs to lead the school kids

    • TTNN

looks like he will have the same learning curve as Lin to play along with a dominant SG. But of course he will not get picked on.

    • blubell
    • KHuang

      I’M panicking!

This guy was supposed to stomp all over Lin and Walker and Roberts.

He earns more than all three put together.

Maybe the Heat shouldn’t have traded his brother Zoran. Zoran would have produced more than Goran this game!

    • KHuang

      Forget Goran.

      We need ZORAN!

    • orLinaryjoe

      Good one

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Washburn simply lost the pass down low right in his hands. He’s so slow. How could Lin play with such walking ducks.

    • KHuang

      I’M picking on Dragic.

He played like a guy not even capable of making the D league.

It would be one thing if he was a $2 million man like Lin. But he is a MAX CONTRACT player!

Max contract stars like Dragic aren’t supposed to be WHUPPED by unwanted “scrubs” like Lin!

    • KHuang

      Same old same old.

Lin wasn’t even on Dragic this game.

Historically Lin has shut down Dragic for ENTIRE QUARTERS.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

How on the earth that Jeremy Lin can get +16.
He was always screened out without help, trapped and the refs have made phantom calls on him. It takes lots of nerve to play out there with those un-watchables..

    • KHuang

Because no matter what, Jeremy Lin is playing TEAMBALL.

    • Whitman Lam

A lot of Lin’s defense doesn’t show up on the box score. People who call Lin an “average defender at best” don’t see how he his defending an entire team, forcing missed shots and helping his bigs to get the rebound.

    • Alain Gervais

miami is a well coached team. lin picked his spot. allowed roberts to go off. played good defense. what more can you ask for. getting a veteran like wade to get 2 fouls back to back was great. shows experience.

    • Whitman Lam

Dragic barely played in this game. But he did not look anything near a max contract player.

    • zxcvb

Kemba fanboys at RealGM are blaming Lin for…winning the game easily. Haha. None of the other CHA fans care, though.

    • KHuang

      Lin = Wheel of Fortune.

      Every night, a different star.

Last night Lin and Lamb. This night Roberts and Hansbrough.

Any guesses for next game? (I have no idea who’s starring next).

    • spiderman

      haters just hate

    • Whitman Lam

I think 1 of the TO was a pass to Washburn who fumbled it.

    • KHuang

I’ve never seen a player on a team draw so much hate from his team’s “fans” as Lin does.

    • zxcvb

They’re so threatened. Kemba stinks and the numbers don’t lie. This isn’t Steph Curry we’re talking about. It’s Kemba “38%” Walker. Even Mo Williams outplayed him last year!

    • JLin Fan from Australia

It will be in China. Expect interesting lineup there:-)

    • KHuang

      Played 20+ minutes.

If Lin played like that, we’d yowl that Lin doesn’t belong in the NBA!

    • CJSHYY

I guess today was supposed to be Kemba’s night but Roberts…. LOL! Kemba is long team player so he needs to shine sometimes. Anyway, I only hope Lin can continue to play his game for this season.

    • TTNN

      you serious? link please

    • Arsenium12 .

      This is for KHuang.

Tyler Hansbrough has never had 15 or more rebounds (total) in a regular season or playoff game, from 2009-10 to 2014-15. I just checked on Basketball Reference.

    • KHuang

      LINSTRUCTOR

    • Whitman Lam

One 3 pointer was from 4 feet behind the top of the arc and contested by a 7 foot center named Birdman. Not an easy shot to make unless you’re Steph Curry.

    • joyce ward

blaming lin for winning the game easily? huh

    • spiderman

wins are suppose to be tough

    • Je Ballew

      Possibly tired legs from b2b.

    • KHuang

Maybe Spencer Hawes and Marvin Williams?

    • joyce ward

      OK

    • KHuang

      Thanks.

      So career high 17 rebs

I know that Hansbrough had double digit rebounds against this Charlotte team when he was with the Pacers.

    • spiderman

      lol
but we know how hard Lin worked tonight

    • Whitman Lam

Kemba and Lin looked pretty good in their few minutes on the floor together. They went on a big scoring run too.

    • blubell

Does preseason numbers count? I thought only regular season numbers counted towards career stats.

    • hm, so you think it’s intentional on Brian Robert part not to share the ball with the team, especially Lin? It certainly won’t go well with Clifford who wants ball movement.

I don’t like how Roberts try to play like DRose, dribbling for a long time until a screen is set then he shoots long-ball or penetrate. He wants to get his numbers for sure today

    • zxcvb

I’m still skeptical though. I think Kemba will refuse to pass the Lin when the actual games start. He’s got his job to protect and a career 38% shooter shouldn’t even be a 6th man.

    • joyce ward

I think the offense will run through Batum. Batum hates hero ball.

    • CJSHYY

Don’t think Lin will take his job bc Kemba is long term player in Hornets but not Lin. (at least not now yet.) I just think Lin is here for one year only.

    • Michael

Last year he had no one to pass to, this year if his shot selection is the same then it’s by choice. I do hope he isn’t one of those players.

    • Michael

Still forming an image, you will be the first to see it.

    • zxcvb

Lin had “no one to pass to” for the Lakers in a MUCH tougher Western Conf.

He shot 42.4/36.9/79.9. Kemba shot 38.5/30.4/82.7.

    • blubell

now… where is that “ban” button…

    • Michael

Maybe it’s not fair to compare Kemba to one of the most efficient players in the NBA 😛

    • zxcvb

      Heh. Fair enough!

    • Phillycheese

Lin always had their longer wing player on him.

    • Alain Gervais

interesting how much minutes lin is playing. but i have to say i hope. really really hope roberts don’t play when the season starts. he shoots a lot. gets a little too shot happy. lamb as well.

    • CJSHYY

In China, Lin for sure. That’s why today is not his show like yesterday. Kemba is key player for this team. It’s his show… supposed…LOL!

    • Dan Cohen

how so? I don’t see jack done there.

    • CJSHYY

It’s preseason game, today’s for these players who fight for spot to show what they could do. Don’t you see Heat didn’t even bother to do too much? It’s no big deal. When regular season starts if coach really dare to let Roberts run like today, he will be fired soon.

    • Dan Cohen

huh? blaming lin for winning the game easily.. are u sure they are not clutchfans migrating over there just for lin.

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

i remember coach said he likes was it a 10 man rotation. who remembers what he said? today 14 people played. so shorter rotation as well

    • Tommy

Lamb is their future investment roberts is gone soon

    • KL

Lin – Walker – Lamb – Hansbrough – Kaminsky is a lineup which could work for stretches. It is not just about size. Speed and skill can overcome.

    • joyce ward

      yep

    • Alain Gervais

      depends on mkg

    • blubell
    • CJSHYY

I don’t remember who? But from these two games can see Lin will have his playing time for sure.

    • Alain Gervais

      i agee

    • Tommy

Lin needs to stay on the 2nd unit so they have a play maker
but when hes playing with the 2nd unit he needs to handle the ball at all times
Clifford needs to give the ball handling duty back to Lin soon
if he wants to experiment, can’t just not play lin PG at all, im starting to think he intends to play Lin as back up SG

    • joyce ward

They stated he had a shoulder dislocation. Speaking from a medical backgrounds a shoulder dis location can be resolved in 48-72 hours depending on severity. Now it is the rehab that is going to take longer.

    • Alain Gervais

hope so robert is annoying me. also want lin back at pg.

    • Arsenium12 .

      Lin …
      __________

    • blubell
    • devin23

hopefully troy daniels get to play once he’s back from injury. rather lin play as pg than sg so he handle ball more.

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

      lakers vs jazz lol

    • Arsenium12 .
    • Alain Gervais

minute limitation. kobe plays whole first quarter lmao

    • Acbc

Since spacing seems to be the buzz word, I’d like to suggest that Lin fans get used to how Lin may seem passive on offence. Team play sometimes will mean Lin being asked to be the decoy just like a favorite receiver will draw team defence attention away to allow others to shine. This was self evident when Harden was on the floor with Lin when they’d put Lin in the corner to force defence to open up the middle. This why Lin is such a great team player. His very presence on court is enough that the D needs to shift in such a way as to allow spacing for others to operate. On top of that, coach Lin is more than willing to help the rooks shine with encouragement and direction.

What matters is that the coaches appreciate this Lin effect. With Mchale and BS, they’d used this to make Lin look bad while pushing their own agendas. As long as Hornets coaching staff appreciates how Lin can make his teammates shine, I’m okay with coach Lin doing his subtle attacks.

    • blubell
    • KHuang

As long as Lin and Hansbrough and Kaminsky are out there, it doesn’t matter who else the Hornets put beside them.

    • KHuang

      Aw, give Roberts a break.

He BEASTED while Lin was the decoy.

If Lin gets loaded up on, let Roberts and other players attack the gaps that Lin creates.

    • Maknusia

You would be surprised if you looked at the betting industry!

    • Maknusia

We should not be complaining for every single thing….

    • Alain Gervais

with robert it annoyed me but with kebab both had openings.. lin will help others but with roberts there lin doesn’t get open shots because the defense have zero respect for him

    • KHuang

      Correct.

I’m not concerned about Lin’s individual stats, but I’m very into how Lin gets his team to win on the court.

As long as Lin’s TEAM is going in the bonus while Lin’s on the court, that’s more than good enough for me.

    • Maknusia

It seems to me…similar calls was there during preseason and not only on Lin.

    • Whitman Lam

They both had good drives to the rim.

    • Phillycheese

Roberts had it going and Lin was smart to play off the hot hand.

    • KHuang

That’ll work until opponents realize that Batum CANNOT DRIBBLE.

Then opponents will jam Batum and dare Walker to attack offensively for his 33% shooting.

Clifford cannot be happy that Jeremy Lamb’s shooting took a nosedive with Walker as the PG.

    • Phillycheese

Lin only took 7 shots but his team always extended the lead when he came in. Thats what the coach wants.

    • KHuang

I don’t think they count, but 17 rebs counts FOR ME.

I’m as big a Hansbrough fan as I am a Lin fan.

I’ve beem a Hansbrough fan LONGER than I’ve been a Lin fan!

    • 808JLinBuzzzz

      Grandpa Bricks

    • joyce ward

That’s fine, but you and everybody knows it’s about points scored in this NBA political cesspool.

    • KHuang

      Correct.

Roberts had the hot hand, so he should attack and win the game.

Lin doesn’t care who stars as long as the team WINS.

    • golfhacker

      1-5 FG in 1st qtr.

    • blubell
    • joyce ward

Well the coach better share it with the rest of world, because people are looking at stats

    • Maknusia

Let the coach some breathing space to experiment things out, obviously preseason is one of the best opportunity the coaching staff has….during the season, they would only be able to do minor tweaks

    • KHuang

Then Roberts will have to PROVE that he’s good enough to be guarded.

More games like this and indeed teams will have to guard Brian Roberts more seriously.

We Lin fans WANT Lin’s teammates to do well. It brings wins, increases Lin’s stats, and makes opponents pay for ganging up on Lin defensively.

    • KHuang

That stat doesn’t apply to this new powerful Charlotte team whose bench appears more capable of winning games than the starters do.

    • Tommy

      just no respect from coach

    • KHuang

I don’t know if Coach Byron Scott is trying to save or kill Kobe Bryant!

    • spiderman

      Lol

    • KHuang

      No no, MAJOR respect.

Lin is the 3rd string PG in pay. Even Brian Roberts earns more than Lin.

Lin’s been playing a lot of minutes especially in crunchtime for a player that’s supposed to average 4 ppg 2 apg based on what typical $2 million players earn.

Lin’s minutes are cutting into Kemba Walker’s 35 mpg from last season. That’s PROPS TO LIN from Coach Clifford!

    • Maknusia

if thats the approach we are gonna take, its gonna be a long bitter season as always. Lin is smart and he will adapt to coach’s rotation and playing style.

    • KHuang

It really doesn’t matter what the coaches do with Lin.

Lin will MAKE IT WORK, just like he did this game.

    • Whitman Lam

MKG wasn’t a shooter either, so maybe this improves the Hornets offense a bit.

    • Tommy

well hes the 4th or 5th best player of the team
should be allowed to play PG
im not even saying he should start

    • Alain Gervais

its preseason. so 7 shots is too low . there was a lot of people who played who will not play when the season starts. also a lot of lineup changes. remember how lakers preseason was last year. lin getting all type of assist then the season started and it all stopped. this isn’t the real deal yet. i like the schemes so far but we won’t know the real deal until season starts. one last thing the defensive schemes are held back in preseason. as well as offensive schemes so again preseason is fools gold

    • KHuang

Charlotte fans were CRYING all summer over Frank Kaminsky being drafted at #9 over Justise Winslow.

Even though Celtics GM offered his four low 1st round picks to multiple teams above Charlotte, only Charlotte got blamed in the national media because they selected a white player in Kaminsky.

Well in this game, it isn’t as if Winslow outperformed Kaminsky at all. At least Kaminsky got 11 rebounds.

I liked the Kaminsky pick and think he’s going to be a heck of a NBA player. I like his game and feel that he’s the prototypical “stretch 5” that succeeds in today’s NBA. Kaminsky can also score and rebound and defend down low too.

    • Tommy

      lol thats true
his salary is a typical NBA scrub salary
guess i will need a different mind set this season

    • KHuang

7 shots is not too low in a 13 point win!!!

    • Alain Gervais

of course not just don’t expect that game style to happen in the regular season. unless its kebab getting shots off lin

    • CJSHYY

Do you think Kaminsky plays well w Lin from the past 2 games?

    • kauaiblue

      agreed.

    • KHuang

      Yes, very well.

Like all rookies, Kaminsky is getting used to the NBA on and off the court.

Charlotte’s been able to close out games with Kaminsky out there.

    • CJSHYY

Dragic took 3 shots only w 2 pts. It’s preseason game. Batum was not even playing.

    • KHuang

Now max contract Dragic has NO EXCUSE to play that badly!

    • Alain Gervais

yea thats my point this games tell you nothing about what either team will be like

    • KHuang

See, I think it will happen like this again.

Sometimes teams are just gonna swarm Lin with multiple defenders and dare Lin’s teammates to beat them.

The more Lin’s teammates punish opponents for loading up on Lin, the less defensive pressure Lin has to fight through!

    • Alain Gervais

his shot is pure. but he has to get a layup game

    • spiderman

      lol

    • Tommy

White players play organized basketball they know where to run and how to cut and all that stuff
      they play the right way
      they are foundamentally sound
      people generally dont appreciate that
Kaminsky played 4 years of college basketball
he plays solid he can be a useful role player right away, which isnt very easy for rookies

Not impressed by winslow shouldve stayed in college for one or 2 more years

    • KHuang

      Don’t worry, it’ll come.

If you look at Summer League, Kaminsky hit some wild circus acrobatic layups.

The layups WILL FALL for this highly athletic and skilled lottery pick.

    • CJSHYY

Haha! It’s true. He can let Wade to play whatever he wants now…LOL!

    • Michael

How about his footwork on defense?

    • Alain Gervais

if he gets that he can be quite a players. still needs t o add some muscle

    • KHuang

Justise Winslow did not impress me in college.

He has no real skills, isn’t all that athletic by NBA standards, and has no special talents.

Kaminsky, on the other hand, is a seasoned veteran college winner who has a mature game. He posts up the little guys and drives past the big guys. NIGHTMARE matchup for any defender in the NBA.

He would have been the #1 or #2 overall pick if I were the one drafting.

    • Michael

This is not what they mean when they say “shoot the lights out”.

    • Alain Gervais

it will be hard because it will be kemba next to lin not robert. hopefully lamb as well which will give lin all types of assist.

    • KHuang

Once Kaminsky adjusts to the pace of the NBA game, his overall conditioning and reflexes will greatly improve.

    • KHuang

      That’ll come with minutes.

Fortunately Kaminsky is GETTING those minutes!

    • John Lee

      Lin’s +/- was +16, second only to Psycho T’s +17.

    • Alain Gervais

coach said he don’t have the body yet. so idk how much he will get when the season start

    • KHuang

Both Walker and Roberts shot 40% or under last season.

Some games, Walker will have big games playing next to Lin.

Any Charlotte player this season is capable of going off on any given night when Lin’s on the court. It’s just a matter of what defenses give them.

    • Alain Gervais

agreed but i think they will help lin more then roberts. lin had no lane all game but once it was lin/kemba lin had space.

    • KHuang

Yes, that’s what assistant coach Patrick Ewing said before Kaminsky went out and dominated Summer League.

      Recently Clifford called Kaminsky “tough”.

Can’t get no 11 rebounds against NBA players without being tough, even in preseason.

    • Alain Gervais

it was yesterday coach said it so idk. we have a deep pf position

    • KHuang

      No and yes.

Corey Joseph and Marco Belinelli and Rajon Rondo all vastly underperformed Lin in stats, but they got paid far more than the Asian guy did.

    • KHuang

More important than coachspeak, Kaminsky is GETTING IT DONE on the court.

    • GoodDayLA

I agree lin has a decoy effect

    • GoodDayLA

There is a lot of truth to this statement

    • GoodDayLA

      This is true as well

    • Alain Gervais

his shot is special i agree.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin finally plays in team which has no sticky hands.

    • blubell
    • PPP

Just a note re to lins stamina for these 2 b2b games. 15 straight min the first game and 17 mins straight for tonights game from 3Q to finish up the game.

      Was he bad?

    • orLinaryjoe

PV analysis is always pretty level.

    • Dan Cohen

but why was winslow so ‘popular’… it seems to me ppl think he is better than kam. is it color based.. zamm hate it if I mention that.

    • TTNN

I remember coach Clifford said that Kaminsky has the skills, but he is not strong enough to get to the spot he wanted to, not as close to the rim as he was able to in college, thus he is currently have problem finish inside. Once he gets stronger, he will be able to do what he want then. So, still need some time.

    • TTNN

      right

    • TTNN

I think that’s the plan. This game was to let Lamb and Roberts go at it, and see what they can do.

    • TTNN

yeah, I know. But who cares. As long as Lin got to play his game.

    • pandaboy99

Lakers are still a dumpster fire

    • Acbc

Absolutely agree with you about Kam. He’s got skills and intangibles. What people don’t realize is that college is played at a lower speed level, BUT that doesn’t mean Kam can’t adapt to NBA speed or physicality.

What I find most annoying is that white athlete get the Lin treatment. They harp on the faults and never give them the time to develop properly; meanwhile they make excuses for anyone they want to succeed.

    • TTNN

just check the score, yeah, as expected.
30% shooting for the whole team…. they are going to keep their 3rd pick.

    • Maknusia

I dont expect any changes in their Win/Lose

    • Whitman Lam

Lakers will probably draft another point guard to replace the ones they already have.

    • TTNN

just watch 2 min, gosh I appreciate Hornet’s defense much more.

    • Acbc

Roberts more than likely will wind up in D league to build his game. I just think it’s good for the team to develop players when possible. Coach Lin is both supportative and instructive. He’s sympathetic of youngsters that needs to go all out to try to make the team. It’s always good to have depth even if they are from the d league.

    • blubell
    • GoodDayLA

4 years of college and didn’t lift weights very hard. sad but true. but then even lin had to lift a lot more in the nba to really get better.

    • TTNN

      LOL, they loose by 19.

    • CJSHYY
    • GoodDayLA

contrary to what you think, Roberts will have the hot hand a lot. He’ll be single covered due to links powers and thrive. The guy can really hit jump shots so he will do fine.

But like you said, when teams start guarding EVERYONE hard, Lin will shine again when teams cannot game plan to just stifle him.

It will come and be a work in progress.

    • blubell
    • CJSHYY

LOL! I hope Young will not be in trouble again.

    • TTNN

they end up shooting at 28.9%, if a team shoot only 3s, could have a better shooting%

    • TTNN

feel sorry for this guy, stuck with this team for another three years

    • blubell
    • blubell

He’s trying so hard to tune it all out…

    • pandaboy99

Lakers media will try to pass off their loss as just an exhibition but trust me they aren’t getting any better as long as they have b scott

    • Rick Johnson

Dragic looks slow in those highlights. Walker made him look bad.

    • KHuang

      COLOR BASED.

It’s not the game, as Kaminsky was the best college player over EVERYONE except perhaps Xavier’s Matt Stainbrook.

    • Arsenium12 .

Here is the shot chart for the game tonight. The upper chart is for the whole team, for the whole game. The lower one is for Jeremy, for the whole game.
      __________

    • KHuang

And in a reverse sense, there are black players who play perfectly sound fundamental basketball too.

For example, everybody here knows that I adore Milwaukee’s Jerryd Bayless. He’s African American and super athletic, but he’s one of the most fundamentally sound players in the entire NBA. That’s why he’s Milwaukee’s best player.

What irritates me is that NBA “scouts” will DISCRIMINATE against a fundamentally sound player, black or white or other. Even Tim Duncan was harshly criticized by scouts for being “too boring” and “too mechanical”!

    • LAJane

Been basically off the grid for the last 12 days helping sis make it out of the ICU (sailed thru cancer lumpectomy with clean margins and no lymph node involvement, but follow-up chemo tried to kill her). Squeezed out a few quick iPhone moments on the Portal here and it was always a bright spot. Sis out of the worst of the woods now and I just got back home…and catching up on what so far is pretty positive news. Am heading straight for the highlights, woot woot! Then on to skimming the commentary.

Great to be back with my other “fam” 🙂 [Joyce!…so nice to see you here.]

Jeremy Lin & Kemba Walker Full Highlights 2015.10.04 at Heat – 27 Pts Combined

    • Rick Johnson

It would be funny for them to tank all the way to the bottom 3 then lose the pick from the lottery balls.

    • orLinaryjoe

Sorry to hear about your sis. Wish her positive thoughts.

    • real-dsb

Iggy’s only 207 lbs? He looks much stronger/heavier than that, I would have thought 220.

    • LAJane

Thanks so much. It was one hella ride. I didn’t know you could get that many tubes into a body!

    • zxcvb

For both Lin and the Hornets, this win was more impressive than last night.

Even with a ton of legit excuses — rest disadvantage, player disadvantage, bad lineups, ref cheating in the 4th — the Hornets beat a team that is supposed to be far superior. Lin was +16 with 10p on 7FGA on an “off night” (not really).

Actual good teams (and players) can win “ugly.” That’s what they did tonight. They can only get better in the regular season and Lin’s teammates learn to trust him more and more. Not to mention Lin won’t be playing with 3 rooks at a time!

    • blubell

I hope your sister gets better. Prayers going your way! Glad to have you back 🙂

    • real-dsb

      Christine is the best!

    • KHuang

Maybe they’ll find a way to get Roy Hibbert and his 7’2″ battleship size to Charlotte.

I’d look forward to seeing Hibbert and Hansbrough being WWE tag bash brothers again.

My favored matchup would be Hibbert and Hansbrough vs The Big Show and the immortal Hulk Hogan.

The imaginary WWE matchup I’d want to see is Shaq and Wilt vs Andre the Giant and the Big Show.

Also good: Ron Artest and Charles Barkley and Dennis Rodman vs Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Arnold Schwarzenegger!

    • KHuang

The Hornets actually beat the Heat much worse than the Hornets beat Orlando!

    • kauaiblue

Oh, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family… come here for comfort 🙂

    • KHuang

Hansbrough is RELENTLESS on the boards.

His rugged unspectacular hard working rebounding reminds me a lot of Moses Malone who was the same size as Tyler Hansbrough.

    • KHuang

Send him over to Charlotte to play SG!

    • CJSHYY

Why made you think so? I don’t think tonight’s won is really that big either.

    • real-dsb

      you got it, great call

    • orLinaryjoe

Kobe’s coaching……Nicolas. The end of swaggy P. SMH.

    • real-dsb

someone photoshop a Palo Alto jersey on him

    • orLinaryjoe

“Hmmmm, if Jeremy was here, I should sit on the other side of him…”

    • KHuang

The best player on the Lakers is the one that did not play:

      Brazilian veteran PG Marcelo Huertas.

Once that guy gets into the game, the Lakers will look like a team.

Huertas is old and a bit slow. But he’s a PLAYER. Should he match up against Lin at PG, Huertas will challenge Lin in a way Lin hasn’t been in a while.

    • CJSHYY
    • KHuang

Just look at the difference in the final score.

    • orLinaryjoe

Heats much better. CHA rested 3. Better PnR defense have to say.

    • LAJane

      mahalo nui loa

    • Steppen93

Prayers to your sis. Hope she will get better soon. I cant fully grasp until we’re there. Best wishes,…

    • KHuang

I feel bad for Roy Hibbert.

He’s one of my favorite players.

Hibbert has never played with a real point guard in his life. Still, he’s managed to score double figures for the last few years.

Hibbert needs to get off that Lakers team and find his way to a team with a REAL point guard – a team like Charlotte’s reserves!

    • orLinaryjoe

Do they practice with Kobe. Or rather, did Kobe practice with them?

    • GoodDayLA

The defense was so set on Lin and Lamb on the corner wings, Kemba was able to break his man down and do some 1 on 1 action. Thing is Kemba can beat his man but is too small to challenge the big lurking low. Lin is just barely big enough to get it done doing the same thing. That is why Lin is preferable.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! They did but that wouldn’t make any different…. LOL!

    • orLinaryjoe

Lol, you’ll send everyone over to play with the Hornets. Maybe they will want to after this year.

    • KHuang

      Kobe practiced a little bit.

But the Lakers are still doing that atrocious 80s iso offense and that even more atrocious 80s defense with guys bunched up guarding the paint and leaving the 3 point line unguarded.

    • orLinaryjoe

His practice would be like: “pass me the ball”. Seen that movie.

    • GoodDayLA

his offensive touch is broken. I remember his Indiana hot streak and he was better then. Hope he gets it back.

    • grover chang

prayers for your sister. May she have a good recovery and complete remission.

    • Ttt

Lakers only had 2 players in double digits and they weren’t the starters!

    • Dan Cohen

      prayers

    • KHuang

      No Lin, no win.

This year, Lin’s not even around to lead the team in scoring, assists, and other categories like Lin did last year.

    • CJSHYY

I know Young & Lou. Their bench are better than starters.

    • KHuang

      That WORRIES ME.

I can see a guy like Dwight Howard saying “I loved Steve Clifford in Orlando, I like the way Charlotte plays with Kemba Walker carrying the team every night with his hot shooting, I want the max”.

No more Dwight Howard for Lin.

    • GoodDayLA

what Lin did tonight is what will happen often while teammates go off . 11PPG, 4 AST, 4RBD avg and a lot of wins.

Someone said I was delusional for this. I think it’s what you can expect. Many games Lin will score 20PPG but then 8-12 PPG next time due to game flow.

I think Lin will actually average 14PPG if properly used but 11PPG is a safe bet.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin would benefit from big Roy in the paint.

    • KHuang

Imagine what we Lin fans would sound like if Lin shot 29%?

We, me included, would be like “Lin can’t shoot, send him to the CBA, he’s a scrub”.

But a TEAM shooting 28.9%? Total coaching FAIL.

    • GoodDayLA

D12 can opt out after this season right? Haha.

    • grover chang

I think those numbers sound good for a back up pg role, as long as the key statistics WINS continue. If not then I want Lin to play a bigger role for the team.

    • orLinaryjoe

I like this team. Say NO to max players.

    • KHuang

11 ppg in 25ish minutes was fine for me last season, and it’s fine for me this season.

Actually, the only stat I truly care about is LIN WIN.

    • KHuang

So many people don’t understand your winning mentality, which happens to be the same as Lin’s.

    • orLinaryjoe

Yes, team, Lin, and team Lin much happier so far.

    • Alain Gervais

if he scores and play that little then he mind as well stay in hornets and stay a back up

    • KHuang

The entire Charlotte Hornets team would, not just Lin.

Even Al Jefferson would benefit from Hibbert.

    • KHuang

      That’s not Lin’s call.

Besides, Lin is playing at a 6th man of the Year level right now.

    • Alain Gervais

lin better play better then that this year is his shot to prove himself. i doubt there will be another 1 year deal. 11 ppg would be disappointing. the back up role would set in by then

    • Alain Gervais

      not at 11 ppg

    • KHuang

There are guys scoring less than 11 ppg who make 3 times (actually 6 times in the case of Nicolas Batum) as much as Lin does.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Zeller is still 100% in 3P% Since last season.

    • KHuang

      WIN WIN WIN

    • Alain Gervais

its not about the moneys it potential. lin wants to start. if he don’t show something he will be a journey man pg if he idnt already. this has to be a break out year. he need a long term deal. no more hopping around team to team.

    • GoodDayLA

they will win with an 11PPG Lin. Lin plays decoy a lot.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Yeah, care to look at Washburn who has done nothing right? Lin has to put up with players like this as TEAMMATE!

    • KHuang

Even the lowliest D League scrub considers himself a future starter in the NBA.

Lin wants to start, but it is NOT HIS CALL.

    • GoodDayLA

charlotte needs a real center, back up or starter level don’t matter.

    • KHuang

      Lin win anyway.

Lin’s actually a ONE MAN TEAM now, just like Duncan who wins and wins despite D leaguers on his team.

    • Alain Gervais

lin will be a free agent 11 ppg won’t cut it also this team isn’t contenders. he hats show development. if charlotte wins lin will get “some” credit. then what. h*** get a ok deal to be kemba”s back up for 4-6 years. starting spot all but over for him

    • GoodDayLA

Lin shot left hand layup off proper foot today. First time I have seen this. What a HUGE improvement. It shows he put in hard work this summer.

Also he got LIFT off the leg which he could not in years past.

    • Alain Gervais

so what are you saying? he isn’t a starter. get used to the bench?

    • KHuang

I’m saying that Lin’s a typical NBA player who feels he should start but is ABSOLUTELY POWERLESS to make his coach start him.

    • Alain Gervais

the cap will jump so 10 million a year won’t mean the same as it does this year. 10 mill will be likely what he gets at 11-12ppg

    • KHuang

      Groan.

Other Lin fans like myself have been watching Lin do this for the last four seasons.

    • GoodDayLA

no you are wrong. He fixed it finally. He could not lift with the control he had. Last time i seen him do it, he proper footed a left layup was against Toronto when he was with Houston in the OT game. He could not lift off the proper foot and luckily the floater bounced in.

His left layup today had lift, touch, and control. That takes a lot of work. He worked at it.

    • KHuang

We’ll see if the leaguewide prejudice against Lin changes in a year.

Nobody can tell me that Lin at $2 million and 11 ppg deserves less money than Corey Joseph ($7 million a year) or Marco Belinelli (also $7 million), both of whom scored less than 11 ppg.

    • Alain Gervais

thats not true talent rises above all. with the right coach. this coach will give him a shot. like he said to be like he was at insanity. so we will see. anything less then 14 ppg is disappointing. if not a regression. he avreage lower points each year fr 3 years now. another lower scoring year and back up is set in stone. when reporter talk about insanity i get annoyed. it was a long time ago. time to accomplish something more.

    • Steppen03

      Honestly, I agree.
BUTs: #1) he will get bigger role enough to produce more. #2) the team NEEDS him to produce more – I don’t think that they do have a lot of firepower or Big Guns… #3) And JL7 have to do it to Save his career – below 17 ppg avg is NOT going to cut it. Yes, winning is important- And saving his career is just as important- Can hit two birds with one stone. Accomplish BOTH. I want him to aim for 18 to 25pt and no looking back – play his brand. For him to be fully effective- he NEEDS to be a scoring threat. 11-15pt is NOT a threat.

Nick thinking: “You’re the greatest pain in the butt. Please retire”

    • KHuang

Enough of the pointless and debunkable Lin hate.

Lin makes layups with either hand consistently, regardless of which foot he goes off of.

    • KHuang

Take that up with Lin’s coaches, not Lin himself.

Players do not check themselves into games.

    • real-dsb

his strength is pick and pop

    • GoodDayLA

no it makes a huge difference to jump off the proper foot. I am applauding lin for his improvement, not short changing him. People, even lin, improve over time.

    • real-dsb

Is the tradeoff of lowering the release point of his shot going to result in more of his shots getting blocked?

    • Alain Gervais

thats not whaat I’m talking about. lin needs 14 ppg or higher to prove his worth. how he plays is under his control especially if he gets the ball and he get pnr. now show us what you got. if he gets less then 14 ppg its him and nothing else. if the coaches screw him ill say it but less then 14 ppg ill be disappointed and he will be two.

    • John Lee

So happy the Jazz mopped the floor with the Lakers, 90 to 71.

    • KHuang

      ENOUGH with your Lin bashing.

First you were bashing him for not shooting well.

Then you were bashing him for not defending even though his team went ahead with him on the court.

Now you’re bashing him for not shooting left handed layups off the proper foot even though he’s been doing so for the last 4 seasons (i.e. against Al Jefferson in a Utah game in his 1st Houston season).

You go ahead and stew about Lin’s ongoing failures.

      I’m gonna ENJOY HIS GAME!

    • CJSHYY
    • Briiick

He can’t even reach that level now.

    • KHuang

      NO I AM NOT.

Lin is not a coddled superstar like your favorite player Kobe Bryant who is so spoiled by the Lakers that Kobe can just check himself into games and dictate who gets to play and who doesn’t.

All Lin can do is play his best and hope that his coach starts him.

In previous years, undeserving players have started ahead of Lin without having earned it on the court. That’s why it’s NOT LIN’S CALL.

    • Whitman Lam

Ya! If he keeps playing like today. Hope he can really think about it to retire after this season.

    • KHuang

Alain, please understand that for Lin, no amount of on court success on his part can convince the majority of the NBA that he even belongs in the league, let alone deserves to start.

    • Michael

      He’s aiming high.

    • Maknusia

KHuang, I dont think this is bashing, GoodDayLA was merely pointing out his obvious observation…aint nothing wrong with that.

    • TTNN

Okay, some thoughts after this game here:

      1) Coach is testing different things this game vs. yesterday. It is obvious that he want to see what Lamb and Robert is capable of. So we see Lamb did a lot of ball handling, and creating. And Kemba differed. But step up when the lead is getting smaller. Lin did the same, let Brian Robert lead. And we could see the difference there, compare to yesterday, much less ball movement, and less assist, lower shot%, both Lin and Kemba has much less assists. That is due to both Lamb and Robert are limited by their capability of creating for other people, and initiate offense. Lamb was not that good in terms of initiate the offense for the team, I think some of the shot selection is not as good, Robert did better since he is a PG himself. So he could get his but could not help his teammates much. I think from this, it is pretty clear that when Lamb and Kemba play together, they need another playmaker with them. When the game getting really in danger, coach sub in Lin earlier, and that 2 min was very promising, you see the equivalent of explosive of scoring as the third quarter yesterday, which is good and promising. I know lots of Lin fans is worried and think Lin was not playing as good as yesterday, which I really don’t think that is the case. Pre-season games is not really a reflection of regular season, it is coach’s experiment. And I like coach Clifford shown a good plan, and really know what he is doing, and each game has different focus there.

      2) Lin’s defense. Today’s game I noticed Lin was used a bit different defensively. However, I’m not sure whether that was only Lin or the team was doing it that way. In Rocket days and also in Lakers, the team has always asked to pack the paint, and then they need to rush out to 3pt line in the meanwhile. However, I noticed Hornet was not doing that, they have very clean cut rotations, and sometimes when Lin was in the weak side, he will sink in very deep while others weight towards the strong side, so Lin was helping under the rim and then recover to his man. Lin had his awareness to know where his man is, and did a good job scared quite some drive, the best example is the one he took the charge, he was in position to do that because his rotation is there.

For three years I followed Lin’s game, the only game Lin was used this way was his first season in Rockets against Jazz, and Rockets was able to limit AI in that game by Lin sink in to double whenever AI got the ball. That game Rockets win 40 points over Jazz. That’s to me, the best defensive game Lin had, way better than his limit Parker to 6 point game. And I was really impressed by Hornets coach used Lin exactly the same way in his second game, this coach really knows Lin’s game. Lin’s strength in defense is his team defense, he is much better used in that concept than ask him to do a full court press.

Same topic about defense, Lin was drove by two times minimum by back door cuts. In both cases, there was a back screen set and Lin had no way to go pass both the screen and his own teammates, thus Wade got a clean cut to the basket. I think the coach for sure will go back and look for ways to stop that, and clean it up in the future.

      3) Okay, about Lin’s teammates.

      a. I think for Kaminsky, he tried couple of times to drive to the basket but was not able to finish. I do think he was asked to give that a try multiple times, Lin created quite some chances for him to do that. I think the team was trying to see also let Kaminsky to see his limitation, so he will have a goal to work for. Looks like in those situations, Kaminsky could knock down the shot, but drive will end up to nothing. I do think when Kaminsky get stronger, he could be pretty dangerous with that play.

      b. Zeller’s 3 point shot is impressive.

      c. Hansbrough is good for rebounds, but not sure whether he did not practice with Lin much or what, he does get lost a bit when Lin was creating for him, they are not on the same page, he did not drive hard for it. Hesitated when he got the ball. Not sure whether he is not used to it, or not anticipated that treatment, but with that rebound, he better learn how to play with Lin, so that he could have more play time on the floor. Hopefully he could be more useful offensively, I mean more in sync with his teammates.

      d. that rookie Washburn is beyond sad, hope he will not be on the team after preseason.

      e. Oh, I forgot to mention, in both games Lin was playing SG in the second half, the team looks quite different, since yesterday, Lin was playing as the leading guard, and today, Robert was playing as a leading guard. So, when Lin was playing together with Kemba, who will lead will be a good question. I do think we will see some Lin/Kemba line up in China game, would be interesting to see that.

      f. Hopefully Daniel will recover next week, thus Lin could play really backup 1 with Daniel playing the 2. I don’t think we ever had Lin/Kemba/Batum line up yet, I do hope we got to see that some day.

      g. Last point, found out yesterday Hornets Papa John pizza give out discount when Hornets get 95 points in a game, LOL, Usually team need to score 100 to get those discounts. Hornets was really offense limited to get that cut off line set up. If the team was playing right, they will go pass that cut off everyday though. (But they did not achieve that today.)

      Yeah, agree.
      “Use the force, Luke.”
I strongly sense that JL7 and Frank will have a strong force in the regular season. Like I said before, this Team don’t have many firepower outside of JL7 & Frank. To challenge the best teams in the EC & WC and to have a deep playoff run Coach Cliff have to unleash JL7 & Frank Tank and use them to the max. Without their scoring prowess, the Hornets will fail their mission. JL7 HAVE to avg 18-25 ppg & 7 dimes. Frank HAVE to avg 15 ppg.

Excellent analysis, especially on D. It’s refreshing to watch games orchestrated by a coach who knows what he’s doing. Clifford’s D obviously worked well, even with the testing-phase rotation, since the Heat were held to 77 only.

    • JoeTeam

      great to read, TTNN.

    • real-dsb

I have read every comment in this thread. I’m glad to see that people settled down later, but I want to address earlier posts that called other posters trolls or not Lin fans.

Calling another poster a “troll” is a violation of 3 forum rules:
      5. Do not label other posters
      6. Do not attempt to moderate the board or other posters yourself. Flag their post and we will deal with it.
      8. No personal insults.

I know that people are trying to be helpful, but actually, calling out trolls only fans the flames and degenerates into a flame war. Also, innocent posters get mistaken and caught in the crossfire. We’ve seen that in other forums and will not allow that here.

If you don’t agree with another poster’s opinion, you can:

      1. Ignore their post. (A real troll’s purpose is to rile people up. If you ignore their posts, they will lose interest and go away. If you respond, then they will gladly continue to troll.)

      2. Debate the opinions in a respectful and polite manner. (That means debating the opinions themselves, not personal attacks.)

      3. You can flag the post and the mods will follow up. (Keep in mind that there is a wide spectrum of Lin fans with different expectations. Some think anything less than 20 pts, 10 asts is a poor game for Lin. Some are just happy if Lin gets any playing time at all. Just because someone has a different expectation than you does not automatically make them a troll.)

    • JoeTeam

    • JLin Fan from Australia

Thanks for spelling this out loudly and clearly. Really appreciate it. Since there are quite a few new comers to this forum, many aren’t aware of the rules. Hopefully this doesn’t happen again. I had to delete a few flaring posts. Good that it has calmed down after a while.

    • JLin Fan from Australia

Thanks for sharing this. Pray for speeding recovery. May God be with your sis and your family in this difficult time. Remind me so much what I’ve gone thru last year even though my case was much lighter than your sis.

    • Maknusia

Thanks for doing the dirty job…its not easy….everyone thinks they are right…there is no right or wrong here….one is free to voice their opinion as long as kept within the forum rules, which is being polite and no personal attacks

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Obviously Lin must have done something right or else he won’t be used that many minutes; specially when playing with those rookies and newcomers.
Brian Roberts seemed to be very limited in involving others. Even when Lin asked for the ball, he chose to ignore Lin altogether. Perhaps Brian Roberts thought he had a hot hand and he did things by himself more often than not.
Figure that Hornets would probably choose to keep all 3 PGs; Walker, Lin and Roberts.
Coach Clifford mentioned Lin quite often in post game interview and the coach said that he was glad that Lin could play the 2 so that he could have Lin and another PG on the court; i.e. 2 playmakers on the court.

    • Great job for doing the moderation 🙂
It’s not easy to moderate during game thread since there are so many posts to follow & read.

Thank you, @real_dsb:disqus for reiterating the forum rules.
I’ll reemphasize that it’s important to realize Lin fans would have different opinions but simply say “I completely disagree” or “No need to be overly negative on Lin or his teammates” would do. No need to call people trolls to escalate heated situation. Simply flag the posts (enough flags will put them in pending) and call the mods’ attention.

Again, it would take everyone’s cooperation to restrain themselves not to hurl insults.
We all want to enjoy the game so everyone please review the steps that real-dsb posted.

      Thank you for your cooperation.

Lin should do a better job protecting the ball even at the expense of play making. NBA PGs like Jrue Holiday spent lots of his time padding his stats. Lin should help himself if he could pad his stats a bit more carefully.

    • real-dsb

I am going through this entire thread and cleaning up all posts that fall in the above category. Normally, I would reply with reason for deletion, but too many posts to reply to every single one. So I am making blanket statement here.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin did attract a crowd whenever he touched the ball.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Race, if not the only, is definitely one of the reasons that Lin doesn’t get paid and deserved attention. Since I have followed Lin’s basketball career, he has received more than a fair share of criticism from many irresponsible, one-sided reporting. This is the truth.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Losing almost 20 points in a preseason game! It’s not a good sign considering the rotations and experimentation of the other team. It is not unexpected. With Byron Scott and his playbook, Lakers will be a cellar team sooner than later.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

      Yes.

    • John Lee

The Heats sent in Chris Andersen trying to stop his game. Tyler is very good defensively.

    • real-dsb

      1. Good observation about coach testing different things in preseason. Hopefully, Clifford will arrive at the conclusion that they have the most teamwork and synergy with Lin in there.

      2. I’m also not a fan of the closeout 3 pt defense where the defender is very far from the 3pt point shooter and has to sprint full speed. First, I don’t think it’s effective against pros. Second, it takes the defender out of the court if the shooter pump fakes.

The Papa John 95 pts was pretty funny.

Yes Roberts remind me Clarkson and much worse. he just doesn’t know how to create for others. All the shots are from outside and he was lucky last night but it won’t work most of the time in regular season.

    • Brent Yen

I am curious about one thing…Lin made a stripe last season by revisiting his won tendency and avoided dribbling in traffic, Hence he ended up with a much better 2nd half of the season.

This 2 games, you see him start to operate in traffic again………..glad to see to me but I wonder why? LOL

    • Maknusia

Habit? Good question to ask him on QnA!? hahaha

My opinion is he is trying to pull the defensive towards him and get his teammates open for a easy shot, unfortunately, LAL was not savvy to understand the spacing and BScott didnt help either.

With better spacing on game one, he is doing the same, and we saw easy buckets or at times with one extra pass, it still worked.

    • Brent Yen

I think some of those are not gonna happen in regular season. But it does not matter really…

    • BadCallbyRef

what’s the point to have dominance yet couldn’t score? Lin obviously did a great job in making Wade missing shots.

    • KHuang

      Eastern Conference defenses are SLOW.

Western Conference teams accustomed to being burned by Lin usually send the help defenders early and high.

In Lin’s two games, he penetrates past his man and THEN gets double and triple teamed. It makes it look as if Lin is dribbling into traffic.

As Lin’s teammates realize how wide open they are when Lin’s on the court drawing multiple coverage, they’ll cut to open spots faster and Lin will pass out of the traps without defenders converging on him.

    • KHuang

The Miami Heat is a better team than Orlando.

They defend better, rotate more quickly.

    • KHuang

Come the regular season, Lin’s Charlotte teammates will be accustomed to rotating to wide open spots when Lin’s on the court.

That’ll free up Lin to attack more.

    • Alain Gervais

even though everything point otherwise i believe lin has found a coach who believe in him. khaung and I was debating about lins future and I’m very optimistic. i don’t want to make it a make or break year so 14-16 ppg on a break out year or he will average 11-13 ppg. if he avrages 11-13 ppg he will stay in charlotte which is a good team and has a good coach. he can stay at charlotte for years. this year will be a good year regardless. why because lin may have found the team of the next 4-6 years

    • Acbc

I assume you are not a minority because you have no idea about what we face and the subtle barriers put in our way. You assume that the facts should make it so obvious that Lin would and should be rewarded. Linsanity was shown out the door by Dolan! How can that happen?

M&M then BS made it their mission to keep Lin down and bury him with multiple devises and misinformation.

Just 2 days ago, Lin put up 17/7 to lead Hornetts to their first pre season win and the Charlotte Observer didn’t even mention lin’s name and NBA.com showed a picture of Kaminsky instead of the scoring leader for that game.

Facts mean nothing, what matters is if his own coach, GM and owners value him. In the business of the NBA, opinions is what really matters.

Look at it another way. A half full cup is also a half empty cup. That’s a fact! How the reporters choose to report that fact is predetermined by bias and intention. John Wall gets the half full reporting while Lin gets the half empty reporting. The bias with intentions to drive Lin’s value lower and lower and they are succeeding. Lin can’t control any of the things you assume to be possible in the world you live in but the truth is that MINORITIES MUST DO TWICE OR three times as good as anyone else to even get noticed.

    • CJSHYY

I don’t think Lin will stay in Hornets bc as long as Kemba is here he will not possible to be a starter no matter how good he plays.

    • Alain Gervais

if he averages 14-16 then he will likely by 6th man or close by then it will be his choice. if 11-13 ppg, he may not have a choice. still rather he stay and get treated correctly.

    • Arsenium12 .
    • CJSHYY

I hope Lin can have good season w Hornets bc this year it’s really important to him. Not just contract year but also to prove how good he can be…. Next year will be 28. Just hope coach can really let him plays his game. If not I hope Lin can try his best to get good stats.

    • Acbc

Everyone looks at the scoring as indicators of value. There was a time when that wasn’t the case when team wins mattered much more than self serving stats.

Winning is not JUST ABOUT scoring, it’s also about stopping your opponents from scoring. A team wins by doing both. Harden and Kobe only care about scoring and self glory instead of team wins. We all see that but the hype on these selfish players continue to be what the NBA and the media wants to sell.

Charlotte is a small market team not used to attracting big name free agents because it doesn’t generate enough revenue. Winning may in fact matter to MJ more than others. We can only hope this is the case for Lin.

    • jlim7

      Al for Hibbert?

    • Alain Gervais

i hope so as well and think he will. but i don’t wanna put to much eggs in one bag. too much pressure to have a break out year won’t be good

    • CJSHYY

Break out year? Hope so but don’t think so bc w his team ball theory, he will not take too many shots so…. right now it’s too early to say anything. Have to wait until real season starts… these preseason games can’t really say it all.

He’s a tough gritty 6’6″ veteran swingman who doesn’t excel in any single aspect of the game but has no weaknesses either.

What I love about Wilkins is that he has the hardnosed team play of a D League veteran but has the athleticism of a reserve player in the NBA. He’s not a pretty boy who wilts at the first hit. Damien Wilkins is an underrated junkyard dog player who doesn’t back down from anyone and will sacrifice his body to make plays.

In short, he’s a lot like Lin.

    • KHuang

      Alain, I am optimistic too.

Jeremy Lin is gonna play GREAT, as he always have.

It’s just a question of which NBA team is unbiased enough to see that – and I have no idea if anybody will be in the future.

    • Alain Gervais

yea thats true. hopefully thing turn out good. I’m still optimistic

    • webattorney

No way should Lin stay in Hornets unless he gets paid more after this year. He should stay after this year ONLY IF they give him more money for several years contract.

    • Alain Gervais

I agree. but look at it this way people hated ali but he was so great it didn’t matter. people hated jackie robinson but he was great through it. if lin is allowed to play his game i have no doubt he will overcome. but thats the big question isn’t it.

    • Briiick

I am glad that Hornets’ manager picks players you like somehow.

    • Alain Gervais

he will get 10 million because of the cap will jump after this year

    • KHuang

I did write positively about Damien Wilkins on the other forum about 2 years ago.

    • webattorney

Yes, if that’s the case, then I am ALL for his staying a Hornet. I would be surprised if he gets that much though.

    • KHuang

It’s the question – and I have no answer for you.

    • Alain Gervais

ye but remember 10 million next year will be like 5 this year. so if he plays will it could be 15 million

    • Briiick

      Well done!

    • Alain Gervais

      yep

    • CJSHYY

I know Lin can do it but the problem is “Will he get the chance to do it?” This coach already the best he can get after NYK so I am more optimistic w this coach but still have to see how the real season starts….

    • Maine Lobster

15million is the floor price. Anything above that is fair market value for Jeremy.

    • webattorney

      Wise man.

    • KHuang

I’d like the Hornets to somehow get another shooting guard.

The guy I like that nobody else does: Nick Young!

I think he’d be a capable backup behind Jeremy Lamb.

    • Alain Gervais

what are you a basketball connoisseur

    • webattorney

Can it be that GM Cho reads and acts of KHuang’s posts?

    • webattorney

      Oh no!

    • Brent Yen

He probably will settle for an ok contract if this team is proven to him

    • Alain Gervais

nick young will throw the unselfish thing out the window lol

    • webattorney

Who knows what an “ok contract” will be for Lin.

    • KHuang

      I am.

I’ve followed Damien Wilkins A VERY LONG TIME, much longer than I followed Lin.

I was even following him when his uncle Dominique Wilkins passed by him 3 TIMES in the draft when Wilkins was drafting for Damien’s hometown Atlanta Hawks!

I feel that Damien Wilkins actually had his name working against him. Everybody figured that because he wasn’t this breathtaking Jordan level athlete like his father Gerald and his uncle Dominique, Damien was a total scrub. But Damien is actually a solid NBA player who is the opposite of his uncle and father because Damien has a very rugged role player unspectacular production oriented role player game that fits well on any winning team.

Trust me, Damien Wilkins will be good and will be a winner for Charlotte.

    • KHuang

      Absolutely he would.

Put him on this fast moving Charlotte team and he’ll gun unselfishly just like he did in Febuary 2015 when he averaged 24.1 points!

    • KHuang

      OH YES!

I like Nick Young because he can shoot standstill jumpers as well as James Harden can and comes with none of James Harden’s selfishness or toxicity.

Even though everybody regards Nick Young as a “selfish” player, I do not. I think he’s had to play for a string of really bad coaches, and that’s hurt his career. But if he joined back up with Lin, the selfishness would go away especially on this particular Charlotte team.

    • Brent Yen

I just meant it may be lower than some posters expectations..:p

    • KHuang

Well, I did suggest in 2012 that Cho draft Lamb with the #2 overall pick to go with Jeremy Lin if the Hornets signed Lin as a restricted free agent.

I did suggest on the other forum that Damien Wilkins be brought into the Houston training camp years ago. I think I did that also in 2012 when the Houston roster was filled with rookies and minimum wage players. I knew that Wilkins would be a steadying instructive veteran presence for that young Houston team.

Then during before the NBA draft, I called Frank Kaminsky “the best player in the draft” and boldly proclaimed that he’d be an “excellent NBA player with a unique skill set” who’d be “tougher than people thought”.

Right now, I’m advocating that the Hornets look at Roy Hibbert and Nick Young as possible trade targets if Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd Gilchrist don’t work out.

I’d love to see the massive imposing but post scoring Hibbert reunited with Hansbrough and the standstill sharpshooting Young reunited with Lin.

And if Jerryd Bayless or Jimmer Fredette become available, GET THEM BOTH!

    • Acbc

2 mil is chump change compared to endorsements Lin can make off the court. What’s a max contract? 20, 25, 30mil? Tiger Woods used to make 100 mil in endorsements a year because of his global appeal.

All Lin needs to do to tap into that potential is win and win often. Lin needs a coach, GM and owner that will put him on the court and give him a chance to win.

    • grover chang

It is getting kind’ve creepy how in line Cho is with Khuang’s baasketball evaluation.

    • KHuang

If Cho’s REALLY in line with my evaluation, then he should think about moving Kemba Walker and Michael Kidd Gilchrist and possibly even Al Jefferson.

My belief is that the Hornets would be better served by starting Lin at PG and bringing in top tier bench players like Jimmer Fredette and Jerryd Bayless to back up both Lin and Lamb.

I don’t have a high regard for Kemba Walker who’s a “high risk” player. When I call a player “high risk”, that’s my codeword of saying that the player is a LOW PERCENTAGE CHUCKER who’ll shoot his team out of games as often as he’ll shoot him into them.

I also don’t have a high regard for Michael Kidd Gilchrist. This Charlotte team needs more from him than he’s capable of giving with his very limited cherrypicking game. Charlotte thinks that they have the next Andre Iguodala with him, but in truth Kidd Gilchrist doesn’t have that kind of athleticism. Plus MKG has NO SKILLS other than a great attitude.

Now Al Jefferson? He’s a TERRIFIC player, albeit one that may or may not have enough fundamentals to fit into the new freeflowing offense that Lin’s doing. While I like (not love) Al Jefferson, I don’t know if he can learn to play teamball enough to really help the team win. The only reason I’d be hesitant to trade him is because he’s the NBA’s very best low post scorer and his skills are indeed very useful. We’ll find out if Jefferson’s low post ability is worth keeping.

    • KHuang

How can a player as consistently productive as Lin at an All Star per36 with a winning record have a “break out year”?

Lin’s already playing at a SUPER HIGH LEVEL.

    • Brent Yen

      Yes sir

    • Acbc

Individual sports is totally different than team sports. In tennis, golf, boxing, it’s one on one and winner takes all.

    • Dorothy

I am not optimistic about Lin’s next contract based on what I saw the 2 preseason games. I do not know much about bball, so I just base it on how institutions work in the US.
After watching the 2 games, my concerns are the followings, it is not fault of Hornets FO, coach nor Lin and they all do it for the best of Hornets sake:

      1) Lin only has 1 year with Hornets (next year is player’s option). There is no way Hornets will put him over Kemba, period. That means Lin will always be either a SG plays next to Roberts or Kemba (which we already saw it is not best use of him last night) or a back up PG. That means NBA coaches still will not sign him next contract as a starting PG.

      2) Coach may ask LIn to play the same role he did last night for “winning” sake which ruins Lin’s stats for next contract. Knowing Lin, he will do exactly the same thing he did last night which is to win and not to care about his own stats.

      3) If coach has in mind he wants to start Kemba and Lin together in the regular season, there is no way he does not try it out during the preseason. Coach has tried many other arrangement, but still not starting Lin with Kemba, except one tiny possibility is he is saving it for China. We will see.

I am not as optimistic as some of you. Lin may play great for Hornets, but his stats may not look good and he will still be a back up. I hate MM and BS to no end.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

The only thing we all should be optimistic now is the season is about to start to see the real rotation for lin. Other than that let have fun watching their next game in China.

    • Dorothy

Oh, and some of you say if Hornets gets in playoffs, it makes Lin look good. Well, when Lin took Houston to playoff the first year, they gave the credit fully to Harden. So, it will be rinse and repeat.

    • JW

On 3, they did do that last night and it worked great. They played small ball with Walker, Lin, Lamb, Tyler?, Hansbrough. And they did really well.

I think coach’s concern is more on who he wants to keep when the season starts. They have 19(?) and they need to be at 13 when the season starts. You really can’t tell what will happen until the season starts.

    • Dorothy

takemeback, I should, but I don’t watch bball to have fun, I watch Lin succeeds in bball to have fun 🙂

    • Dorothy

Agreed, but he did not start Lin with Kemba last night.

    • KHuang

As a decadeslong veteran of watching great players get kicked out of the NBA by clueless franchises that didn’t know what they had (i.e. this very same Charlotte Bobcats franchise when they had the white Dr J in Walter Herrmann), I can soothe your worries.

A great player is a great player, whether he’s in the NBA or not.

And just because a player produces on the court in a quantifiable way, that doesn’t mean that an NBA franchise is smart enough to realize it.

So all you can do is ENJOY the Lin ride while it lasts.

Years after Lin’s career ends and he makes the Hall of Fame, we’ll all look back and say “That guy was absolutely THE BEST” even if his career ended right here, right now.

    • KL

I am not seeing this as a make or break year for Lin. I think it is too much pressure to see it that way. We never know what the future holds. As long as Lin takes a step in the right direction I will be happy. I
think Lin will get his bigger role and bigger payday in due course.

Honestly, it seems like Lin can score in double figures without breaking a sweat (ok I mean without trying to hog the ball or dominate the shots). But boxscore stats only mean so much. Lin averaged 27 points and 10 assists during the first Linsanity phase! Yet the Knicks did not keep him.

So my expectations this season are simple.

      1. I hope he gets at least 28 minutes per game. I believe he deserves to start but that is not his call. (Also I want Lin to close out games otherwise the endings of all Charlotte games would be so boring).

      2. His FG% and 3P% should go up, especially if Coach Clifford is drawing plays for Lin to shoot threes off the inbound.

      3. The team is going to win because the defense looks solid and Clifford knows how to use Lin. So the team should be right in the middle of the playoffs chase.

      4. In terms of box score stats I think Lin will perform at a level around 15-17 points and 4-6 assists. There is a mathematical basis for this, based on his minutes, usage and some other factors. But this is my lowest priority. No big deal if his stats are less than that. I am going to enjoy team basketball the way Lin has taught me.

    • KHuang

I wrote on this forum before the season started that it really didn’t matter who Charlotte put next to Lin.

As long as Lin is on the court, Charlotte has a chance to beat any team in the NBA.

    • KHuang

      That’s just fine.

      Lin GOT HIS anyway.

    • JW

I think for the short term, Lin will come off the bench. Unfortunately, Kemba is the “face” of the team and they need Lin to get the 2nd unit going.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

He’s having his great success and this season is all optimistic.

    • Jedi

Sometimes it does get to be borderline bullying. But glad you guys are drawing a firm line.

    • Jedi

      You beat me to it!

    • Je Ballew

Lin is a success in life if he never plays another basketball game. Life is more than basketball and not realizing that can make us very unhappy. Relax and enjoy. Lin has put his life in God’s hand. That what keeps him calm.

    • Arsenium12 .
    • CJSHYY

I agree w you on Lin will not replace Kemba as starting PG for Hornets unless Kemba gets hurt bc to Hornets, Kemba is the future & key player, Lin is just one year deal. I really think why Lin signed this contract even w the low salary bc he needs a team or coach to support his team ball game plan & to prove how good he can be again. On the other hand, Hornets coach also needs Lin to help him to get his next contract. Last night’s game do make me worry a little bit bc they changed back to Kemba’s way not Lin’s team ball theory plan. I know it’s only preseason but this happened so many times in the past… So I have to see & wait what really will happen….. how this coach will let Lin really plays his game when season starts…

    • KHuang

Charlotte sure is pulling out all the marketing stops for this 3rd string point guard!!!

    • rookie75094

The difference is that hogden came in at the same time as Jlin where as walker is already on the non playoff hornet team.

    • Dan Cohen

like I said.. only way to guarantee that lin gets the credit is when he is the sole option to run the team and contribute greatly and win the championship.. at least twice with him leading… .. I don’t really like injuries on others, but that seems like the only way for a chance to be a starter again.. (look at overrated reggie jackson).

Or maybe he wins 6th man of the year award, which his team getting far in the playoffs.

These are the only 2 ways.

    • KHuang

As long as Kemba Walker is with the team, the Hornets will let him try to prove himself as an asset for the first 3 quarters.

But when the game is on the line, Kemba’s 33% shooting will not be tolerated.

Now the question is whether Kemba’s sub 40% shooting can be tolerated on the team, period.

    • Jedi

      LOL

    • KHuang

We cannot control what haters think.

We can control what WE think – and we love Lin’s production.

      Enjoy the game!

    • KHuang

      PERSPECTIVE RIGHT HERE

    • KHuang

Ah, you’ll learn to watch bball for fun too.

This Charlotte Hornets team has a bunch of guys similar to Lin.

    • CJSHYY

I like this picture. Looks really cool & good looking.

    • Acbc

Lol, the head of the snake would still be too high. Realistically, the hole in the ground where the snake hides is what they’re aiming for.

    • KHuang

I can’t believe THE HATE that’s being fired at Lin for “bad defense”

How is it mathematically possible to play “bad defense” in a game where the opposition scored only 73 points?

    • wu kong

      I want this jersey!

    • wu kong

I really think Hornets are giving JLin an opportunity to show his stuff. They get him Cheap and he gets the chance to play basketball his way. win win situation. I believe he will blossom this season

    • JW

Your comment is w/o any context. Is there another new bad defense analysis out there or just the same old stuff?

The discussion below didn’t touch on defense. Or you had the discussion over on that other site and wanted the general discussion here?

    • Je Ballew

IMO, the posts this morning have been some of the most informative and entertaining I remember reading. Thnks to all.

    • JW

Last 2 games, the announcers were from oppositions. They have been fairly positive on Lin. Hopefully that continues to be the case for the Hornet’s announcers.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I have more concern about those refs.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

The hate will eventually invent lies to spread hates.

    • occupatio

      Great post. Thanks.

    • orLinaryjoe

Yeah, this dark one is niceee.

    • KHuang

Well, we have had a minor polite brouhaha on this forum about Lin not defending or shooting well last game.

On the other forum, there indeed is a lot of criticism of Lin’s “bad” game.

To me, a win is a win.

Wins don’t always come pretty in the NBA.

    • KHuang

      Don’t worry.

As long as Clifford doesn’t yank Lin out of games for bad reffing the way Mchale and Scott used to do, not even the bad reffing will stop Lin from THE WIN.

    • KHuang

Not since Linsanity have home team announcers been positive toward Lin.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Head band on.

    • KHuang

      1. Defense in the NBA is about the team.

Even if Lin or any other Hornet gets burnt, they still play hard D all game long. That’s enough to always make the Hornets a top defensive team.

      2. Kaminsky is learning his distancing in the NBA. He’s getting used to the NBA 3 point line and the pace of the game. By regular season, Kaminsky will have that all figured out.

      3. Hansbrough has NEVER had a point guard throw passes to him in his entire NBA career. So Lin passing to him was the shock of a lifetime. On previous teams, Hansbrough would set the screen and immediately turn his back on the ball since everybody refused to pass to him. Hansbrough will soon adjust and become a Charles Barkley type player alongside Lin.

    • CJSHYY

I thought Magic game refs were OK.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Do you remember when Lin entered the game in the third quarter playing along side with Kemba and they went 10-2 in just about 3 minutes before Clifford took Kemba out for good? That was our best back court I’ve seen in a long time. Hope it’s a permanent.

    • KHuang

There was nothing “bad” about Lin’s stats last game.

Even the phantom turnovers didn’t hold Lin back.

This Charlotte team cannot win without Lin playing. So if the team chooses not to keep Lin, it’s at their own peril.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I can’t stand bad no call or even wrong one. It’s a long season so it will be many games.

    • real-dsb

I think it’s pretty clear that “KHuang” _IS_ Rich Cho. =)

    • grover chang

Love it. Modern uni to match the modern basketball being played on the court.

    • Dorothy

Agreed, but Lin’s stat was not bad last year either, but look what kind contract he was getting. Lin has to have “super” stats in order for other teams willing to take him in as a starter. No team is going to think Hornets can not win without Lin if it does not show up on the boxscore. We all know that too well.

    • real-dsb

I didn’t have any problem with him running down the clock. It was what he did after he picked up his dribble and was smothered by a defender.

16s – Tries to fake out Ingles. Ingles doesn’t respect his speed and doesn’t even move.

11s – Needs to call for a screen to shake Ingles. (Remember young Kobe who refused a screen from Malone?)

8s – After the successful screen, Kobe couldn’t do anything and allowed Ingles to recover back on him 1 on 1. Then Kobe picks up his dribble and was smothered by Ingles. This is where he should have passed. Instead, he does his lame Brandon Armstrong impression for another 5s that doesn’t work at all.

Another thing they could have done is go for a 2 for 1.

    • real-dsb

Nate Robinson could block Zeller’s three point attempt. =)

    • zxcvb

Lin has played more minutes than any Hornet thus far (52). Good, early sign of Clifford’s trust.

    • Steppen03

I don’t disagree. Winning is everything. It will solve many problems including JL7’s. That’s why I stressed the point that this Hornets team have the potential to be Top 4 EC. But in the winning equation, JL7 must play a much bigger role – more playmaking, more D, …and more shooting. Yes, he have to be a shooting threat this season in order to save Hornets. This team is still NOT loaded enough with firepower. He’s improved his shooting form and will use it much more. The whole team can play great D together but the main offense have to come from JL7 (like Curry for GS). Hornets need skill shooters and JL has to be the leader. I say he have to aim for 18-25 ppg avg. and also getting the W.

    • real-dsb

      Definitely a good start.

But we’ll see when regular season starts. Sometimes coaches just experiment during preseason, and rotations during preseason are nothing like the regular season.

    • Alain Gervais

IVE NOTICE THAT. but the sg thing is getting annoying but the ball moves a lot

    • real-dsb

very artistic photography, love the lighting

    • real-dsb

Is it because of MKG injury?

    • steven ko

but also the personnel Jeremy was playing with is inadequate to say the least

This latest ridiculous contract will motivate Lin and Tyler even more.

that person needs to go back to elementary school math.

    • Dan Cohen

oh..wait, and no offense to affrican american.. he did get that much probably because he’s african american.

    • Dan Cohen

well, it’s a 2 mill per year player you are talking about here….

    • Steppen03

I agree. But no way is the Hornets going to win a lot of games without JL7’s scoring threat. Honestly, Kemba & Lin combo CAN work. Both can be PGs with Batum, Frank Tank, Al. They just need time to make adjustments. But that lineup can’t be use for too long. The way I see it, JL7 will come off the bench most of the time but NOT all the time. Sometimes will be Kemba. It’s a Team now. Not personal. It will get there.

    • real-dsb

I keep repeating myself that opposing announcers/coaches have very positive things to say about Lin. It’s because they hear/read thing about how Lin lost his starting spot to some scrub, can’t play defense, was a fluke, etc. Then they actually see him play in person and are amazed, like “Wow, I can’t believe how good Lin is, I can’t believe the coach is not playing him more.”

    • real-dsb

correction: 77 points. But same point made.

    • real-dsb

    • CJSHYY

That’s the sports world. I don’t think he’s worthy that much but his boss willing to pay for it? No right & wrong. He has to thank his agent, coach, & boss. As for Lin, too bad, Rox already put the label on him as a backup PG the most & poor D. This image is hard to wash off that’s why I think Lin picked Hornets to restart his career this year, he needs to show the league what he can do for the team again.

    • Dorothy

I hope that is the case, but by looking at how few teams offered Lin contract, I doubt that is the case….

He’s got a Kobe? That stinks. He’s a good young man with a lot of heart. He”ll be back. I think he could be a pleasant addition in the playoffs and be an energy wing defender. I actually think their offense is better him haha

    • TTNN

too bad. On the other hand, lucky for him to get the extension right before.

    • CJSHYY

      Really lucky for him.

    • Dan Cohen

so who is replacing him at starting lineupo

    • GoodDayLA

As long as the Hornets put forth a real dominant lineup and not just an Atlanta clone of last season that gets pasted at the first sight of a real playoff team (see the Cavs), I won’t be worried for Lin even if he remains a benched nobody. Because if the Hornets are real and dominant and not just a regular season type team, they must be built to win in the playoffs. That’s when Lin will finally shine when everyone must be guarded hard and equal to win real games.

If they are built playoff tough, then they will compete and possibly beat the Cavs if their chemistry is greater than Lebron’s team. In order to do this, Lin Lamb and Nic & Kemba must play huge and often. Al, Zeller, Tyler Hans, Marvin must be insane on the front line. Then you throw in 12-18 minutes of Frank in the playoffs in his rookie year.

Lin’s revenge may not get him a starting spot. But his revenge is paying people back in the playoffs and getting this team past Lebron, this season.

I believe this team can do it if Lin is unleashed.

The fact this roster has Khuang type players means they will play hardnosed, well coached, disciplined, team basketball.

Lin will need to become the elite X factor that Atlanta lacked last season and Tyler Hansborough will have to be the meathead TOUGH enforcer that Atlanta also lacked.

If those 2 things come together, the hornets can make it to the NBA finals. And Lin will be on center stage.

It’s his only way to really shine. REgular season means nothing.

      solid post

    • GoodDayLA

Nick Young would be a good big sized swingman who can shoot. Charlotte is lacking in those.

    • GoodDayLA

I actually really like your idea here. Start Lin since he should. Get quality team player backup guards like Bayless and Fredette.

I’m surprised Cho missed on Fredette. He can be had for peanuts. Who knows maybe they offered and Jimmer chose SA.

    • GoodDayLA

they are thin on 6 foot 7- six foot 9 wings on this squad. Wilkins fills that bill.

    • David Kim

      Lin?

    • real-dsb

Terrible news. Hope MKG has a full recovery for next year. The rest of the Hornets will have to step it up!

    • Dan Cohen

      doubt it.

    • GoodDayLA

D12 will bail on them. He is egotisical and doesn’t want to be Harden’s rebouding machine. Maybe a return to LA is totally possible, Yes Lakers.

Totally possible if Kobe is gone.

    • real-dsb

My guess at the new depth chart:

      C Jefferson, Hawes
      PF Williams, Kaminsky
      SF Batum, Hairston
      SG Lamb, Lin
      PG Walker, Lin

    • JW

That’s too bad. They had several injuries last year. hopefully not a continuation of that.

At least it is a freak accident and not the overwork of a crazy coach.

    • TTNN

who else is SF on the team?

    • blubell
    • David Kim

I agree that they might do that line up. But my best line up is Kemba lin batum Williams jefferson

    • JW

Yea, but the thing is Stu from LAL and Drexler from Hou kept on bad mouthing the team’s own player. Never understood that.

    • real-dsb

that’s a shame, he is a good guy, hope he recovers completely

    • David Kim

Who was the Kemba PNR partner? Williams or Jefferson?

Wilkins, 35, has played in China, Puerto Rico and the NBA’s development league of late after a 10-year NBA career with five teams. He last played in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2013.

What do you think are the pros and cons of Lin starting at the 2 with Kemba.
In the interview coach Clifford gave a few days ago, he said definitively that Kemba is the starting point guard. Then he went on to say that Lin will have a big role because he play the 2 with Kemba AND be the backup point guard.
In yesterday’s post game interview, Coach was asked what he thought about how his 3 guards played last night, instead of praising Roberts who had a great game, Coach said, “You know, Jeremy Lin can play the 2 with Kemba.” =)
Why does the coach keep mentioning that even when not asked directly about Jeremy?
Is the coach getting ready of the possibility to start Jeremy at the 2, perhaps in the China game? If you really think about it, is Jeremy Lamb that much better than Jeremy to start at the 2?
      What do you guys think?

    • KHuang

John Henson is a raw athlete 6’9″ power forward with no skills.

      Hansbrough is WAY BETTER.

    • steven ko

And lucky for owner MJ, since his contract is covered by insurance. Or does his new contract kick in next season?

    • KHuang

      oopth

    • steven ko

      Next Lin up!

    • CJSHYY

Maybe for China game as starting SG?

    • KHuang

The reason Clifford can only talk about Lin is because Lin’s the only player that makes all the other players effective.

      Without Lin, Charlotte falls apart.

    • steven ko

who’s gonna take over MKG Security LLC? who will be the new CEO? i’ll have to sell my shares now…and put my $$ to work in stock symbol JLIN

    • CJSHYY

      I agree. Coach knows.

    • blueCypher

I’ll wait until hornets officially confirm MKG’s timetable.

    • KHuang

Batum goes back to his natural small forward position. Now Batum doesn’t have to learn a SG position that he has no experience or skills for.

Jeremy Lamb gets to start. However, Lamb will have to sharpen up his game on both ends of the court. He will be the main shot creator of the starters and will experience the same double teams that Lance Stephenson got last year.

PJ Hairston and newcomer Damien Wilkins might get some time at SF off the bench. Lamb can also play some SF with the bench.

Lin will continue to come off the bench and facilitate both the starters and bench. Lin’s role actually doesn’t change because nobody but Lin can singlehandedly keep the Hornets from falling behind in the score.

    • KHuang

I expect him to miss the season, including playoffs.

    • KHuang

It really doesn’t matter if Lin is at the 1 or 2.

Opponents are going to send multiple defenders after him from either position.

It’s just a matter of who gets to cherry pick off the gaps created by Lin pulling multiple defenders toward himself.

    • I also thought it’s interesting to see what & how Coach Clifford answered when asked about the PG depth.
Emphasizing Jeremy can play as 2 with Kemba together meant he was satisfied with the 3rd quarter experiment.

In the 3rd quarter, the Hornets lost a 3pt lead to only 1pt lead with Kemba as the only playmaker.
When Lin checked in with 5:01 left, CHA offense got better to finish Q3 with 6pt lead (69-63) with Kemba/Lin contributing 9 out of 11 pts.

To me, it’s clear that Clifford was excited that Lin can play as a 2 next to Kemba to spark the offense.
Whether they can take turn as PG, it remains to be seen or experimented. For now, we should be glad that Lin will earn more minutes playing as 1 or 2 =)

      Domino effect yes, negative NO.

    • KHuang

Starters: Walker, Lamb, Batum, Williams, Jefferson

Bench: Lin, Brian Roberts, PJ Hairston, and the BRUTE SQUAD (Kaminsky, Hansbrough, Hawes, Zeller, all of whom deserve minutes).

    • real-dsb

that looks like KHuang’s ideal starting lineup! =)

    • KHuang

My best lineup is Lin Lamb Batum Hansbrough Kaminsky.

Marvin Williams at 3 might be even better than Batum.

    • KHuang

      Pretty close.

Substitute Kaminsky for Hawes and it would be so.

Substitute Marvin Williams for Batum and NOW WE’RE TALKING.

    • real-dsb

Woj is more official than Hornets.

In fact, the Hornets are reading Woj’s twitter right now to find out what MKG’s timetable is. =)

    • KHuang

If I were Clifford, I’d give strong thought to starting Cody Zeller again.

Zeller is a different player from the brick handed butter fingered nonshooter from last season. Suddenly he’s become Steve Novak but with more physicality.

Marvin Williams has been underwhelming as a 4. Bring him back to the bench as a 3 where he can cherry pick off Lin. Williams also is a better defender than any of the Charlotte shooting guards asked to play reserve SF.

Starting Zeller also relieves the logjam of talented big men that are trapped on the bench.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Tyler does not need to improve his jump shot, he needs to improve his layup to become much more dangerous inside.

    • real-dsb

MKG missed 51 games in his first 3 years (average of 17 games/yr).

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Love his avatar. lol

    • real-dsb

I’d believe Woj before Hornets official.

Hornets didn’t even have the official preseason schedule up. jlinportal was the first site to have the Hornets preseason schedule correctly published. That’s right, before Hornets official web page, espn, realgm, charlotte observer, AtTheHive, anyone!

    • Spot

Agree. Zeller can run pnr and then shoot midrange and now even 3s.

What concerns me the most is Kemba Walker. Kemba is selfish. Charlotte have a pretty good and deep roster but Kemba, will he like to share spotlight with the Asian Guy? Will he start to pass the ball? If Kemba and Jeremy work together then sky’s the limit for the Hornets.

I’m really sorry for MKG but it’s good for the Hornets. Lamb is a very underrated player. I hope MKG get well soon and fix his shooting form.

    • real-dsb

I’m not sure Kemba is selfish. He seemed to be pretty willing to distribute the ball in preseason game 1. The hope is that in his early years, he didn’t have any shooters on his team to distribute the ball to. Hopefully, this year, the Hornets have a ton of shooters now.

We’ll see when regular season comes whether Kemba is a true team player.

    • real-dsb

One of the Reno Bighorns announcers also badmouthed Lin consistently too. Unbelievable.

    • zxcvb

Hornets can make the playoffs as is, but it’s frustrating to know they have a great team “hidden” in their roster.

Lin / Lamb / Batum / Kaminsky / Zeller would be superb and shock the East like Atlanta last season. Hansbrough could be the first big off the bench and then trade Kemba or Big Al for a 6th man like Jack or Bayless.

But MJ is stuck in the past. Dumb extension for Kemba last year. Dumb extension to injury-prone MKG. Big Al is guaranteed a starting spot despite having no future in CHA. Front offices don’t want to win — they just want to be right.

    • steven ko

Is that JLin on the left or Yi Jianlian?

    • Spot

To me Kemba is not fast to beat his opponents on first step and he’s not a PG who have the ability to create the game.

He’s the usual NBA player who can shoot well when he’s in his days, excellent in crossover and play for himself.

      We shall see…

    • zxcvb

And he still got PAID like a superstar.

    • real-dsb

You’ve correctly identified both. Lin on the right. Yi Jianlian on the left.

    • Spot

I would prefer small ball with Lin Kemba Lamb Batum Zeller (Kaminsky).

Double playmaker works pretty well in Europe. Question is if Kemba wants to share the ball. I’ve always considered him a selfish ballhog.

    • zxcvb

I agree, he’s a ballhog. Kemba had 100% freedom as PG and failed. He’s a career sub-40% shooter who’s never led his team anywhere in a weak East. If that were Lin, he’d be out of the league.

Instead, people everywhere are making excuses as to why Kemba should be untouchable as starting PG.

    • zxcvb

Short answer: Whatever maximizes Lin’s minutes.

Long answer: If his minutes are similar, I prefer the 6th man role for now. I doubt Kemba will share with Lin, so it’s best to minimize their time together.

    • Linzen

I definitely think it is on coach Clifford’s mind. I remember watching Lin practice pnr with Big Al before game 1. If only Cody can start at the 4. Then, we have Kemba, Batum and Cody all popping from 3, and Al as a strong roll guy. Imaging the wide open space and the ball movement. 🙂

But then Lin will have to face all the first team SG on defense. That will put a toll on his body. And, this would be my main concern.
The other drawback is how weak the bench will become. I really don’t think Brian and Jeremy Lamb can run the offense effectively.

    • zxcvb

Landry Fields? Maybe just wishful thinking on my part. He can’t shoot anymore but MKG couldn’t either. Landry can still defend, cut and dunk.

EDIT: Nevermind. He had another injury last month and is out for 5 months.

    • good question. JLin used to have a high-arc shot; now he might have to adjust

    • wu kong

wow so disappointed in the immediate response to MKG injury by some JLin fans. Can we give it a full day before we pile on with the ‘how does this affect JLin’ barrage ? The kid has a season ending injury. Could very well be career ending. Come on let’s play nice in the sandbox and show some class. 🙁

    • Spot

I’m really sorry for MKG. I think when he will fix his shooting he’ll become one of the best 3&D player.

Hopefully we will see him shooting all summer long with Jeremy next year 🙂

    • it’s good for all JLin fans to take time to wish MKG well in his recovery.
Regardless of the PT implication, MKG has been very welcoming to JLin with a welcoming tweet when he was signed.
Plus joking around with JLin with the Security Guard issue.

I like MKG. He’s a good guy who appears genuine to welcome JLin.

    • Alain Gervais

wow lin avreage 11 ppg on that terrible team.

    • wu kong

      agree.

    • Alain Gervais

wait datum average less points then lin. wow lin will have a lot of scoring chances. its literally up to him, kebab and al. everyone is is either not a scorer or streaky

    • Spot

To me problem with Kemba is he’s playing like he’s still in NCAA.

He get the ball in his hands, crossover crossover crossover, drive to the basket or shoot after the pick.

Problem is NBA players are much more athlethic. Guards are much faster and don’t get beat on first crossover and bigs are much stronger and you don’t easily beat them once you are in front of them.

Someone needs to tell him this is NBA. Til now he could do whatever he wanted cause Hornets were a bottom league team. Think they want to go in play-off and let’s see what happens.

    • GoodDayLA

I think he will come back with 2-3 weeks in the season and be an added value player off the bench. However, Clifford may be unlikely to play him if the team is doing well without him.

    • Spot

      Calm down, it’s just preseason.

If i’m a coach i’d like having more guys in double digits then a couple getting 20+ points.

And think it’s what Jeremy wants too.

    • GoodDayLA

Small ball works but not when you have midgets in Lin and Kemba together. Now if you have Lin, Lamb, Nic, another 6 foot 8 plus guy, and a big, you have something. That’s what the Warrrios did last year. They got rid of Jack who was too small to go with Curry. Leaving Curry as the smallest guy on a small ball team works when you go small at the 4.

But not at the 1 and the 2.

Let’s hope the coach does not go there. You want this team to be average and stink so Lin can get better stats.

    • GoodDayLA

that’s Clifford’s job. if he fails to fix the problem, its on him and his job security.

    • GoodDayLA

Al is not that big a center so Zeller compiments him. They are actually 4 and 5’s respectively in height but play opposite games.

    • GoodDayLA

so when Lin plays well this season as a 2, the NBA will say see he’s a 2 not a 1! And John Barry will pat himself on the back.

I guess it’s better to be a 2 than a “reliable backup PG”

    • grover chang

u think with all the kids Shaq has, he would know how to pick up a kid properly.

    • zxcvb

Even in college he wasn’t efficient. Walker’s TS% was 52.5% and 54.3% in his 2 good years.

By contrast, Lin’s TS% was 60.5% and 62.6% in his 2 good years. Can’t use the excuse of schedule strength either because Lin excelled against top teams (including UConn) and he also had way worse teammates to play with.

    • that might be the best-case scenario. it’s hard to contribute directly if he comes back in the playoff
Torn labrum definitely is not easy to recover. Kobe had the same thing, right?

    • GoodDayLA

If Clifford has a fake agenda to start Lin and sneak Lin into the lineup, then China is the place to do it against JJ Reddick. Lin is virtually the same size and will slaughter the CP3/Reddick defense. I suspect Lin will start 1 of the 2 games.

You see Al, Zeller, Nic, Kemba, Lin gives Doc Rivers no out to cover Lin with a bigger guy. Reddick will be FORCED to guard Lin and Lin will absolutely torch the Clippers defense/JJ and give Al and Zeller a free throw line procession of practice as DJ and Blake will have to hack away.

What Doc will do is sub Reddick out after 3-4 minutes of play time and shift Wes Johnson onto Lin. Bring Jamal/Pierce/Josh Smith to sub in and then guard Batum.

When teams do that effectively to combat the Charlotte lineup, that’s when CLifford should sub Kemba or Lin out and either go with Lin as big PG or bring in Lamb to spell Lin and match up.

    • zxcvb

I think he’ll still be primarily a PG during actual games. During preseason, he’ll get experience at the 2 but when the real games start, he’ll be the super 6th man playing mostly with Daniels (or whoever wins the backup SG spot).

    • GoodDayLA

well I’m just wondering if Coach Clifford will let Lin go full Linsanity in the 4th quarter. Or will Coach Clifford just shut it down and either let Lin play off guard like yesterday next to Kemba or put Lin on the bench.

That’s basically what we have yet to determine from 2 meaningless preseason games.

    • zxcvb

That would be great. Maybe Kemba can learn to share with Lin…though I’m currently highly doubtful of that.

    • GoodDayLA

yes they say the torn labrum is actually a pretty bad injury.

    • Arsenium12 .
    • zxcvb

My guess is that Lin will close with Kemba, but that would probably be the only significant stretch where they play together. Like you said, we have too little to go on right on.

    • MoominFloren

      Poor kid…..can’t catch a break 🙁

    • JW

Looks like Nathan and maybe Ido might have declared At The Hive as a Lin Hater. Only 2 games in.

      https://twitter.com/zukovka/status/651149527617957889

    • GoodDayLA

Some people would rather lose than win with the Asian kid with the funky haircut.

    • GoodDayLA

yes there is a lot that will unravel. And injuries can really screw or help things.

People cry over MKG getting hurt in Charlotte.

I don’t know why but I see it as a huge positive for the Hornets. If I were coach, MKG would be coming off my bench as a pure energy hustle guy for 15-20 minutes a night. His loss can indeed be replaced by Wilkens. I’d prefer Portland’s Al Farouq Aminu over MKG to be honest.

I think it’s a blessing in disguise personally.

    • GoodDayLA

I wonder if Cho and Clifford cringe at MJ’s roster selection and privately decided through free agency to pick up actual winning players while MJ is out golfing and making 1/2 billion in his JOrdan brand company.

    • grover chang

Seems like he improved this season. I saw him blow by people and he is 4-8 for 3 pointers.

    • steven ko

      thx

    • grover chang

Yes, I confess. Being a Lin fans makes you crazy, impatient, and selfish. Which is ironic since Lin is none of these things.

    • Alain Gervais

stop with all this it doesn’t matter what they think

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I was curious by that so I gave it a visit at the hive. The hive is hater started with his ranting and anger when readers asked why he didn’t mention Lin in a list of players who can step up as starter, something like this:

“Whether they like it or not, this is going to give us a sense of what this team is going to be like a lot sooner rather than later. With MKG out, that means that the group of Jeremy Lamb, P.J. Hairston, Troy Daniels, and maybe even Brian Roberts are going to have to find a way to pick up the slack. All of these guys were going to be fighting for minutes behind MKG and now they will all get their chance to prove that they should be a part of the rotation.”

    • CJSHYY

What? I thought he likes Lin? Don’t know what happened… but it doesn’t matter he likes Lin or not, coach is the one who will decide everything not the reporter.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Maybe we give that low budget site too much credit.

    • Alain Gervais

mkg going down does not effect lin much. his role is still what it will always be so i can understand the reporter saying these other players have to step up. but anyways I’m so used to this fan vs fan drama its like w/e at this point.

    • JW

Hive might be just defending one of their bloggers.

    • JW

I even pulled up the rosters to verify. All the players mentioned were taller than Lin even if by 1 inch(Daniels). The one that probably made it harder to defend is that they included Brian Roberts who is 6′ 1″.

    • orLinaryjoe

Would not read too much. Being too Lincentric annoys team fans. I stay away from them. Lin doesn’t need to be mentioned every single time., just every other time. Now, if they said something hateful….WAR!

    • Alain Gervais

if lin is not playing pg in the second unit then question begs why isn’t he starting at sg

    • CJSHYY

To tell the truth, this team or media from Hornets are really really small market. There are not that many news from them or for them. It really don’t matter that much even they like Lin, if coach doesn’t like Lin then Lin still will not get any more playing time.

    • Alain Gervais

i agree we are lin friend they are not.

    • grover chang

yeah, I really don’t see this as a big deal. Lin has played more minutes then any other Hornet. The coach sought him, His teammates are passing him the ball, he is playing well, and they won both games. AND ITs only Preseason. I don’t see much to complain about from a Lin point of view. I mean he isn’t starting but Clifford told him that from the beginning.

    • grover chang

agreed, yes please lets not become Crutchfans vs LOF II

    • Alain Gervais

i will say he should start infant go lamb but lamb and roberts as a back up unit would be terrible

    • sws94

I agree. Feel really bad for MKG. It’s not a Lin thing and I agree with atthehive and don’t think they are anti-Lin.

I won’t get a feel for the team, coach or even for improvements in Lin’s game until I see more.

    • CJSHYY

Haha! I really think no need to fight w these media bc they are not like Rox all control by what Morey asked them to say or destroy Lin on purpose. I can understand Lin’s fans are passion about Lin & worry he will not get the fair treatment again here… (I really hate Rox for all these happened…. smh!) But just relax now, I think coach is the key not these media.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Arguably who would fit best to replace MKG, but for them to praise MKG as their best player but not mentioning Lin was an insult.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Like I can’t unfollow because I never followed in the first place.

    • orLinaryjoe

I think he will be PG with second unit. Will also overlap with 1st with Walker in smaller duration.

    • Alain Gervais

from all I’ve seen lin. lin playing a ton of minutes. leading and playing his game.

    • Michael

Ouch.Season ending. Much worse than I hoped for = =

    • orLinaryjoe

      Yes. too much PTSD.

    • Alain Gervais

robert playing that. we don’t have a back up sg but lin. my guess is they want lin to lead that unit because lamb cant with robert. he also comes in to be with first unit

    • Michael

Can’t raise your arm above your shoulder I think.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! In fact, I think their playing style from game one all by Lin’s idea. If they continue to do so then Lin really gets what he wants for the first time since NYK.

    • orLinaryjoe

      Same here.

    • Michael

      By the hair maybe?

    • CJSHYY

Haha! I agree. LA media are already nice compare to to Rox. Hornets, really like local newspaper to me. Not that many people to read these days…

    • JW

I really doubt Robert will be in the regular rotation unless he has some major breakout in this preseason. Lin should be PG when Walker is not on the floor. It’s more who among the current SGs moving down to SF.

    • Alain Gervais

if roberts don’t play then who? if lin at pg then who plays back up sg

    • JW

      http://espn.go.com/nba/team/depth/_/name/cha

According to this depth chart, they have 4 SG not including Lin. Batum, Lamb, Daniels, and Harrison

    • CJSHYY

      From the post below.

    • Alain Gervais

i wonder watch the lineup shifts will be

    • Alain Gervais

well mostly because robert got shots because they were focused on lin. it all don’t matter because lin is the 2nd unit and the offense as a whole has kebab, lin and al who can get there own shot. lin being the best pg on the team. so lin is sitting good so I’m chill

    • CJSHYY

Exactly, like I said, Heat didn’t even really care they won or lose yesterday. Otherwise Dragic would not only took 3 shots w 2 pts. It’s preseason. They don’t want to waste too much energy on this game.

    • Alain Gervais

if you saw lin he was chill the whole game. it didn’t matter that much to him. he allowed the rookies to take and make a lot of mistake

    • CJSHYY

Ya! It’s the time for coach to see who can make it to the spot in regular season.

    • Alain Gervais

people saying dragic playing bad but he didn’t care about the game. its just a warm up to him

    • CJSHYY

Haha! I know bc Dragic only got 2 pts. Well, if this is regular season I would worry about it but no… it’s only preseason.

    • Alain Gervais

honestly what does the preaseason tell us ????

    • orLinaryjoe

      Lin fans are very “passionate”!

    • orLinaryjoe

Doubt Roberts will play that much.

    • Alain Gervais

      lol

    • orLinaryjoe

      We are! lol

    • CJSHYY

Not that much. But what coach said it’s the key. After 3 years, I found out no matter what media or fans said … it’s not really matter much… COACH is the key to decide a player’s future in the team.

    • bolero

I like Cliff, he seems smart compared to the BS guy..

    • sws94

      Or ears.

    • grover chang

I suspect preaseason is important to Clifford and he would like to win all the preseason games to instill confidence in the new roster that this new system works. If the team doesn’t believe being unselfish translates into wins then the system breaks down. Players will just “try to get theirs.” One thing Lin showed me, especially with the Lakers, no matter how dark it got he worried about the team, not just about getting his.

    • Linzen
    • real-dsb

maybe Lin will start at SG in preseason game 3

    • I am The Jason

Just got thru watching a replay of the game. Lin basically played off the ball. He was looking to get his teammates involved. I’m cool with that. It seems Roberts had a good game because Miami defense did not stifle him like they were doing to Lin and Walker. I hope Roberts sent Lin a thank you card. The Tank played well but I wish he would shoot the ball as soon as he gets it instead of running off of the 3 point line. He is 7 ft tall for crying out loud.

    • sws94

      Exactly.

    • sws94

How are they supposed to react? They are talking about MKG and his what to do in his absence. Someone not only bringing up Lin, which may be OK as in how do you think Lin fits into this and can he help but saying an omission of him means they are haters is bound to annoy them.

    • sws94

Lin had tough match-ups. Wade is just one of the greatest NBA players in the game even if he isn’t in his prime anymore and that tall SG, I think Green, was playing Lin very competitively, has a lot of hops and length and tried not to let him go off. Miami tends to try to smother Lin and I wanted to see if he handled the pressure well. He did OK.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Wayne Wade did not seem to like Lin very much.

    • real-dsb

I think At The Hive has been very fair on their evaluation of Lin.

    • sws94

He plays Lin tough. I think that means he thinks Lin can be a weapon and he tries to intimidate and neutralize LIn. It’s being competitive but I don’t think he has anything against Lin.

    • Linzen

Totally agree with you. I think some people are over sensitive about a fair article. Really hope At The Hive can see pass that.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

My problem is if any Lin fan would still care what they write.

    • real-dsb

I agree, no way Redick can guard Lin, and Lin can easily guard Redick. Redick is at most only 1 inch taller than Lin.

    • sws94

Yeah. Most Lin fans are passionate and if we smell he’s being treated unfairly, we’ll let them have it. But Gottlieb is acting paranoid and LIn’s a team player. Some of his fans should be as well.

    • Rick Johnson

I just hope the season starts soon and JLin breaks out. Too much idle time causes to much sniping

    • sws94

He’s only vulnerable to over-helping and letting Redick get into a 3-point rhythm. If he stays with Redick, I don’t think Redick is much of a ball handler to really burn Lin or make him work that hard on defense. And, you’re right, he can’t really shoot over Lin the way taller players can.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Ido Amir was very polite in their twitter exchange. The question was fair and if any media does not like question, they’re in a wrong business.

    • Linzen

My sentiment exactly. I think they are THE first media to say JLin’s D is good.

    • CJSHYY

I thought he & Lin are friend but not really closed one.

    • Rick Johnson

Ya wish Nathan would cool it a bit.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Lin took all the attention so…

    • real-dsb

Lin is quicker, longer wingspan and standing reach than Redick. I’m pretty sure higher vertical as well (since Redick has never dunked in a game).

Redick: height w/o shoes: 6’4″, height with shoes 6’4.75″, wingspan 6’3.25″, standing reach 8’1.5″

Lin: height w/o shoes: 6’3″, height with shoes 6’4.5″?, wingspan 6’5″, standing reach 8’2″

    • GoodDayLA

there’s no way Lin plays primarily PG unless he plays like 10 minutes a game. Kemba is playing 30+ minutes this season unless Clifford has the moxie in him to bench or limit Kemba’s time to play more Lin.

Lin is playing 20 minutes at the 2 this season and maybe 8-10 at the PG. Until more injuries and stuff occur.

    • real-dsb

That’s a sign of respect when the opponent fears your ability.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I don’t know, I only see it whenever they match up.

    • GoodDayLA

Any coach that uses a small little guard to cover Lin or a lazy swing guard to cover Lin is a coach who is not fit to coach in the NBA. All coaches who understand how to play Lin use a bigger man or at least a same sized physical and conscientious defender to crunch Lin and then bring mobile bigs and wings to swarm Lin.

Spoelstra has been very good at doing that to Lin. Clifford smartly used MKG on Lin last season and Lin still got by MKG and put in layups. Clifford did not press Lin.

Lin shows some trouble when pressed or doubled. I mean who doesn’t? The team will need to prepare for the Lin traps and doubles and devise outlets and ways for Lin to unload the pass and then play 4 on 3.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      good point

    • CJSHYY

      On court, they have to…

    • Rick Johnson

Against the Clippers at SG he’ll but up against JJ Redick and Jamal Crawford. They won’t be able to defend Lin as well as Wade but they are good shooters.

    • Briiick

That is not new. Wade and LBJ wanted to teach Lin a lesson during the peak of Linsanity, and Melo just returned from injury to throw the monkey wrench.

    • Linzen

Don’t get me wrong. I like both Nathan and Ido. And I follow them on Twitter. But, I cannot agree with it this time.
The article was only about how players can “possibly” step in to help the situation. To be fair, I believe At-the-Hive didn’t mention Kemba Walker in the article as well.
These media are small and just learning to deal with us BIG JLin global family. Give them a second chance.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

The aggressive level not the same like last preseason game, unnecessary.

    • blueCypher

I love Tyler’s hustle and aggressiveness but he just doesn’t have the touch to finish around the basket.

    • Whitman Lam

I think the only option Charlotte has is to package one of their big men and/or shooting guards, and trade for a good wing player SF. I don’t think Batum can play big minutes at the 3, and Lamb, Daniels, Hairston are not strong enough to defend that position.

I also say leave the hive alone. I would be pretty annoyed if I was a hornet fan and all I heard about was lin. Lin. Lin. Those guys go to the hive to talk about the hornets, not Lin. There would be a natural backlash like at clutch fans.

    • Alain Gervais

i agree. also it don’t matter. the coach is all who matters

    • John Lee

Is he any worse than Omer in finishing?

    • blubell
    • Kwok Wai Lai

Tyler’s energetic but not energetic enough to fill the hoop.

    • Alain Gervais

      ooh wow

    • blubell
    • occupatio

the hard part about guarding reddick isnt reddick but the screens they set for him while he runs from one side to the other. it’s a lot of work running through screens and always being a step or two behind.

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

      jeremy a cool dude

    • Linzen

      That’s awesome! Up vote x 1000

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Roberts is not a threat to drive to the rim. Almost none of them is successful. They can give him an open lane and still he couldn’t make the bucket under pressure.

    • Alain Gervais

lin must be in a good place to tell his fans to chill. first time he has done it.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

There were moments that Heats was taking over the game. The Heats wanted to win too with their players on court.

    • bolero

      lol. That’s me..

    • bolero

I should have mention Brent too..I forgot.maybe next time

    • Alain Gervais

      khaung???

    • Kwok Wai Lai

My condolence. It was a freak accident. For the time being, MKG is not a factor anymore. Sorry but true.
But, Jeremy Lin is the factor helping the team to start the season. Go Jeremy. Coach Clifford seems to be the coach who could take Lin to the next level.

    • TTNN

      agree.

    • TTNN

I thought that is because people were saying their three POINT guard, so coach was saying Lin was playing SG there. But still……

    • IsabeliJane*17

      So he’s reading tweets?

Upon reading it The Hive didn’t really mean any harm.At ALL.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

I told you Zeller is very athletic and he can definitely shoot 3s, 2s, dunks. When you put Kaminsky and Zeller together, the complement each other really well. The amount of energy they generate is off the roof.

    • John Lee

      Segway, are you on tweeter?

    • Phillycheese

Heat, singular. Like the Magic, Jazz.

    • bolero

oh yah, I don’t think he has tweeter account..

    • grover chang

Seems Lin realize his fans affect how others treat him. Trying to calm things down before the negativity filters down to him.

    • bolero

my tweeter notification is blowing up. I can’t keep up. lol

    • TTNN

because he really wasn’t treated wrong in this team……

    • Kwok Wai Lai

We can talk about Lin as much as we want here. There is no point to hard sell Jeremy to the Hornet fans. Jeremy’s support is from the coaches; not from Charlotte fans alone. If they choose to root for other players, so be it. I couldn’t care less.

Of course Lin haters would stir up the pot; that I anticipate. Those are minority as long as we keep our comments civil there, that is enough. I guess there won’t be a market for Lin haters in Charlotte. I would love to see them dwindles to oblivion.

I only have a problem with them when they pretend to be Lin fans.

    • Phillycheese

Agree. Reddick will tire out his defender just by the amount he runs without the ball. Clippers have DeAndre who is a huge plus defending Lin since Lin will get around Redick easily.

    • Grace

      Psalm, too

    • Alain Gervais

it was a very veteran move by him. its crazy I’m noticing lin act like he has been doing this for year. i saw how calm he was in game and now out of game savvy as well

    • Alain Gervais

lol we can go for days

    • adele

Because during Linsanity, Wade’s gf openly said she likes Lin

    • John Lee

Personally, I can very much relate to Nathan and Ido, being traumatized by the injustice and hatred thrown towards Lin fans in the last three years.

That being said, it’s no fault of At_the_Hive’s. If anything, they’ve been fair and even-keeled, which is the best Lin fans could ask for.

    • CJSHYY

So glad Lin did this bc I really think he needs media to help him not anti him again like Rox. Don’t know you guys know or not? Lin wrote to most of LA media before he left for LA. Just let it end now.

    • real-dsb

“If coach Clifford decides to insert Batum into the starting small forward spot, there’s a good chance Lin will be the primary backup for both guard spots (assuming he doesn’t get the starting two). Regardless, Lin is looking at a solid 30 minutes a night.”

    • real-dsb

      what’s the “good call” for?

    • real-dsb

Looks like it worked to calm everyone down.

      https://twitter.com/zukovka/status/651216012872822784

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin has already had the attention, coverage and special episodes. What more could you ask? Of course Lin fans are diversified. They can choose whatever what they want to do. So are Hornets fans. Let’s just agree to disagree in this case among ourselves and At_The_Hive.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

I guess MKG surely would not be contributing to the team for a few weeks at least. He played SF and was a defensive threat. Whoever will step up to replace him would have to be a SF and good defender, I presume.

    • Dan Cohen

exactly.. that’s what i have been telling ppl here and there all along.. quit with the over reaction and stop calling out others teammates and his organziational media or even the coach.. because it will psychologically affect how other treat him.. and be like houston and lakers again. But some agree.. but other say I’m crazy.. look who’s crazy now.. If you say I”m crazy you are also saying lin is crazy due to the same logic.. smh.

    • Dan Cohen

      that’s true too.

    • Dan Cohen

but he is trying to stop it before it gets out of hand to too late.. cat is out of da baga.

    • Phillycheese

At the Hive is not a Lin hater site. C’mon without the injury Lin was a key cog. With the injury the other bench players further down the line will have to do more. Lin was going to get his 28-30 min anyways.

    • real-dsb

Yes, Lin was very wise and diplomatic. First, he thanked his passionate fans, defended At The Hive, and suggested that everyone stick together and root for the same cause.

    • Phillycheese

Watched the offense more, same starting play over and over. Seems they are one side centric as all action takes place on right side of court. They need a lefty wing to balance out a little bit.

    • Dan Cohen

      zamm straight .. ditto here.

It’s almost like how network marketers keep tell you to join join join.. and you start to get annoy. and then start to bash them for that reason.. instead of a valid one.

    • real-dsb

Well, Lin basically gets “CC’ed” because everyone is including @jlin7 . I’m sure Lin can’t read all of his twitter timeline because of the enormous volume, but he probably skims it occasionally (like when he has nothing else to do waiting in line or on the toilet LOL).

He probably noticed a flurry of activity, so he took action to nip it in the bud before it escalated out of control.

    • Alain Gervais

its preseason so playbook is held back

    • IsabeliJane*17

I’m too optimist for my own good that all the media crap I got from previous seasons were thrown out the window and here I am in fresh start with Hornets media.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

To avoid all these, we need to stay off the hive.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

May the best player play out on the court. There are ample opportunities. I hope it will be Lin. I honestly don’t think anyone of the Hornets could step up for MKG at all. Simply not possible but the team will still be fine without MKG. They are simply too many ways to win a basketball game. The team just wouldn’t throw in the towel without MKG. MKG is injured; unfortunate indeed but basketball team moves on a new dimension without MKG too.

    • Dan Cohen

he is not mchaleo who say there will be 5 starting starting point guards.

    • CJSHYY

I agree about Lin will play a lot of min. Even I only read some tweets from At the Hive but I never got the impression he hates Lin?! But I can understand Ido & Nathan…. Rox… smh!

    • Dan Cohen

      zamm straight

    • Phillycheese

Don’t take it too personal. Gotta stay positive here folks. Lin don’t need no negativity to start the year of his comeback. MKG tough break. Get well soon.

    • real-dsb

Oh, I get it, you said, “Don’t forget Paul @CNM_Jlin_Vids”.

LOL, Lin didn’t include Paul because Paul wasn’t giving ATH a hard time.

    • Dan Cohen

that’s what this site and the other one is for!

    • Alain Gervais

team has 3 play makers of which 2 can really shoot. 3 players on this team has average double figures on a consistent basis with lin being one of them. so yea lin is important

    • IsabeliJane*17

Finally saw the whole starting tweet. I thought he’s not “cc’d” in the tweet, that he’s just doing some random browsing, saw the tweet, then nipped it in the bud before it gets out of hand.

    • Phillycheese

Kemba wasn’t mentioned either so are they hating on him too? Cmon Nathan, gotta be smarter than that. Post an apology. Just like Trade street vs Rick Bonnell.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Roberts is not double teamed and he can shoot as many as he wants. Whenever Lin touches the ball, it draws a crowd pretty soon.

    • Dan Cohen

OMG Ido amir and nathan G can shut his mouth.. This can make matters worst.

I recalled Ido said something last year and everyone who was neutral end up hating lin just to get back at him.

someone tell them to shut up.

Who cares if the article doesn’t have lin word in there. It’s the coaches decision.

If I’m a writer and I was neutral about lin, I will freaking get annoy at lin fans. Sometimes those writers and the median don’t just want to hear about lin lin lin…. it’s like the others are ‘dead’ and lin is the only player that matter. Like lin said, it does a disservice to his teammaters and others. There is nothing wrong with that article. If there was hate bashing, go away and response back right away.. but nothing bad was said about lin there.

Lin responded on twitter so that it will stop getting out of hand because these things might cause resentment among him and his teammates and organization. Who knows if this social media thing added fuel to the fire in houston.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

They have said some good things about Lin. Their evaluation could still be wrong but who care. They are not exactly Lin fans nor Lin haters. There gotta be somewhere in between for lots more people.

    • Dan Cohen

OMG.. see. DON’T ESCALATE THIS TO BECOME LIKE CLUTCH FANS!

    • Dan Cohen

I sure hope so too.. else it might be houston organziation again. smh.. cool it tell them.

    • John Lee

HOU and Kobet…I mean Kobe fans didn’t need Lin fans to fuel their racial negativity. They were doing a darn fine job on their own.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

It’s a miss in communication. Many of us don’t think so. It’s open discussion and why can’t we agree to disagree.

    • Dan Cohen

      zamm straight.

    • Dan Cohen

someone fire back at nathan and ido about this. please. thanks .. so it doesn’t get out of hand.

    • John Lee

Charlotte Observer is the only shady one I’ve seen so far. All others are fair and neutral.

    • IsabeliJane*17

Thanks for the word. Now I know which ones to follow.

    • Phillycheese

It was a tweet, nothing bad was posted at that site. Let’s keep it that way or post supporting messages for mkg.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

We shouldn’t tell others to shut their mouth. Let them speak. We should agree to disagree and move on. Speak as many as you want. I respect your opinion. Just because we have different opinions, doesn’t mean that we could tell others to shut up.
The problem is we don’t give others the benefit of a doubt and move on.

    • Phillycheese

Uh there was a second article which did talk about Lin at the hive. Be the man Nathan and go against One Republic cause its not too late to apologize.

    • blubell

You’re famous now. Don’t forget about us little folks. Lol

    • Rick Johnson

Opponents don’t even bother to double team him anymore. They want him to shoot and waist possessions.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Because Kemba is already a starter. A list Lin was not mentioned was about who’s the backup guard can take place as starter.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Apologize for asking question?

    • blubell

Well, we have a week until the next game 😛

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I was the reply of that tweet.

    • wow .. JLin needed to peace-maker before things get more heated?

      I haven’t read the article but I’m sure it’s just a misunderstanding.
I better read the article now 😀

    • blubell

Their articles bore me anyways lol.

    • blubell

      Yay, way to go Bo!

    • Good shoutout, Bo 🙂
Great acknowledgement by JLin to his fans to keep a peaceful situation

    • Phillycheese

He never asked the question. Ido asked and gone a snarky response from ATH. Too little to label someone with in my humble opinion.

    • orLinaryjoe
    • Phillycheese

That was not posted on their website.

    • Brewkowski

Since Lin is so awesome, you must be so awesome too.

    • Brewkowski

But seriously, you’re right about some of the fan’s negativities… gotta stay cool or it’s guilt by association.

    • Phillycheese

That’s my point Kemba, Lin and Batum are already in rotation. The other players are not yet so that is why they can step up. Lin was going to get his minutes with or without the injury. Lamb was not. Daniels was not and roberts definitely was not. But the injury changes it for them. ATH could have responded to Ido’s ? Better but not bad enough to call for a complete withdrawal. That was overblown. I have no issue with Ido’s tweet.

    • CJSHYY
    • IsabeliJane*17

MKG’s injury is sad. No need to mention though that MKG to undergo surgery and recovery opens doors up for everyone, including Jeremy, because it will REALLY open the doors for Jeremy anyway.

Personally I’d rather he be at 1 or 2, but more on 1 and him play a lot with Kaminsky.

    • Guest

I support Nathan’s support for jlin.

    • blubell
    • TTNN

and this is the part I REALLY REALLY don’t like!!!!

      https://twitter.com/zukovka/status/651236289153531904

    • occupatio

      ALL lin fans haha

    • Maknusia

We should call him to moderate this site as well?!! LOL

    • blubell

I know… He’s really overdoing it right now.

    • webattorney

Nathan, you don’t represent me. I wouldn’t tweet regarding this kind of matter. Lol Just shut your mouth and let Lin play without distraction. Hornets treating him just fine. It’s like going after a tick. If you start yelping again, I am going to write bad reviews in Amazon on your detective books. Lol

    • TTNN

that article talked nothing about starter, it was talking about cracking the rotation, Lin should not be in that list. Lin is in the rotation already. Come on. You are over sensitive.

    • TTNN

AI likes to camp at the left wing

    • Michael

I can’t even represent myself right, how can he.

    • occupatio

      lol

    • Dan Cohen

you bet zamm straight I am =)

    • Dan Cohen

yeah.. kobe also has his crazy fans.

    • Dan Cohen

I think ATH is starting to get annoyed at crazy lin fans… that’s why there was a snarky response.

    • Brewkowski

      Zamm right!

    • blubell
    • Dan Cohen

no, I agree he should apologize.. just by saying something like I overreact..due to the past 2 years of blah blah blah..
they will then understand and soften it.

    • Dan Cohen

so in conclusions and implication:.. he thinks lin is a cool guy.. just annoyed at his crazy fans

    • James Lin

Lin going to have a great season

    • occupatio

out of curiosity, what happened to ronnie price? is he still on the lakers? is he still in the league?

    • CJSHYY

I think he is in Portland. Just check, it’s Sun not Portland.

    • IsabeliJane*17

With the Phoenix Suns, 1 year deal

    • occupatio

3rd string? is he even in the rotation?

just amazing how far a mediocre player’s career can go being anyone-but-Lin.

    • blubell

Signed with the Suns. 1M I think.

    • Michael

So he is in Portland with the Suns…that is odd.

    • IsabeliJane*17

Well according to the depth charts he’s second string PG so…

    • occupatio

      interesting.

    • Acbc

Since Houston and Clutchfan, I’ve learned to ignore ALL other websites. Why do we feel the need for others to affirm our affinity to Lin? Why is it necessary for everyone else to feel the same way we feel about Lin? Why do we feel the need to prove to doubters that Lin is a great player?

As a fan of Lin, I think we can all try to handle the anger and indignity thruster upon us by others just like he has done. Lin thanked the LA reporters even though they may not have been that nice to him. I think we should follow his lead and “love they enemy”…or maybe just forgive them…or at the very least, just ignore them.

I get all my Lin news I need from this site.

    • Phillycheese

Yeh, I meant the offense with Lin in. i don’t think he was on with Al much.

    • blubell

      Trailblazing Suns?

    • blubell

I love your posts. You’re a bundle of wisdom 🙂

    • Acbc

Coming from one of my favorite posters, that means a lot! Thanks

    • Michael

Stop confusing me, it’s the preseason.

    • kauaiblue

      Wow, what a great tweet!

    • CJSHYY

I really agree w you on why we need the approval from reporter who is not the fan of Lin or even hates him?! Everyone has their own opinion. After 3 years, I found out sometimes some articles got paid to write it on purpose. So no matter what reason or stats you said… you will not get what you want to hear. Really no need to waste time on that.

    • blubell

I’m conditioning you… getting you ready for the regular season. You should be thanking me.

    • Phillycheese

      Agree. Totally OTT.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      It’s time to move on.

    • Acbc

That’s exactly true, it bugs people much more now that you ignore them. Just like “unfriending” is now a word that expresses the fear of disassociation. In this social media age, not having people follow you is worst than having people hate you. Lol.

    • Michael

Exactly, unfortunately the next game is in five days so I guess I’ll just have to make do with The Muppets = =

    • John Lee

The new Gundam: Iron-blooded Orphans seems pretty decent. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 started off strong too.

    • Acbc

      Or hibernation, lol

    • John Lee

We wouldn’t want him to oversleep, gotta save the quota for regular season games.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Ignore them & don’t click on the article that’s the best way to get back to them. LOL!

    • Michael

The next few games, Lin is in my timezone…muhahahaha.

    • Acbc

Is that Gundam an anime or manga?

    • Acbc

      Be afraid, be very afraid….muhahaha

    • blubell

What are you planning to do?!

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Good one, mike.

    • John Lee

New anime that kicked off on October 4. More serious along the lines of 08th MS Team and 00 rather than dumb AGE.

    • blubell

I did not enjoy the 1st episode. Let me know if it gets better.

    • Acbc

      Thanks I’ll check it out.

    • IsabeliJane*17

      #BringBackKermitAndPiggyTogether

    • Michael

Would you believe me if I said yes?

    • blubell

      Never mind then.

    • blubell
    • John Lee

NOT sleep during the game, obviously. 🙂

    • Briiick

I like it though. I am a representative for all Lin fans too, do you agree ?
I guess not. I don’t agree but I like it.

    • linspiredinla

Nathan can get a big head easily. I tried to tweet that Lin was acting as peacekeeper because he found out about the tweets, or maybe alerted by media or someone on his team. He normally never tweeted to individuals like this. Lin even said at_the_hive meant no harm. Yet he still insisted that he was singled out as representing Lin fans.

    • blubell

      Highlights from Christine

    • linspiredinla

But Nate was the one that tweeted that he is officially labeling at the hive as Lin hater. That was how it started. That is why JL singled him & Ido out. Later included Paul when bolero mentioned him.

    • blubell

Is that the only play he has in his playbook? lol.

    • Steppen03

Right! Not every little things need to be discussed – to the media (among Lin only fans, this site – it’s alright). Agree with other Lin fans here, we don’t have to bash anyone or group “at the hive” for not mentioning Lin more or praising him, etc… I only get mad when people, media flat out dissed him. It’s NOT Hou & LA. It’s only game 2 – NO, season hasn’t even started! Not game #20, Lin-fans. Let Lin enjoy his new coaches and teammates without passing any judgements. That day will come soon. But Not Now. Let us enjoy this with him – playing for a coach that’s Not an Ex-NBA player but a true team coach with real experiences. Nobody needs to be bash for Lin to succeed. JL7 is more than that. And we are too.

    • orLinaryjoe

Don’t share what u would do with them. TMI, lol.

    • John Lee

Hey, that’s still one more than what BS and McHale have.

    • blubell

Some are still going at it right now. *sigh* I wish they would just let it go and stop stirring up the hornet’s nest.

    • Dan Cohen

see.. ido and nathan made a big deal out of nothing.. shame.

    • blubell

Yup. They don’t even have a playbook nor would they know what to do with it.

    • Singapore BB Fan

Not sure if this was posted 🙂

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Injury Opens Door For Jeremy Lin, Nicolas Batum

      by Michael Dunlap 9h ago

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to miss six months for Charlotte Hornets, giving more opportunity to Jeremy Lin, Nicolas Batum

The Charlotte Hornets had high hopes for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist this season, as the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft was coming off of his finest season as a pro. Now, his season has been decimated by a shoulder dislocation that is going to require surgery and serious rehab. It hurts the team’s chemistry, it takes away a hustle/energy guy and it hurts depth. It will be up to new acquisitions Jeremy Lin and Nicolas Batum to pick up the slack.

    • orLinaryjoe

      Ohmmmmm…

    • Dan Ang

Nathan, Idor and others…their hearts were in the right place, perhaps premature in execution. But I respect them for being vocal. Oscar Wilde once said, “the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.”

    • rookie75094

Everything is awsome!!! (To the tune of the Lego movie )

    • blubell

I agreed. But sometimes Nathan and other fans tends to not know when to stop.

    • blubell

      Awesome movie 😛

    • Brewkowski

      I love that song!

    • Maknusia

Are you guys following Dragon Ball Super as well?

    • real-dsb

Lin should make a ton of funny youtube videos in the offseason, but only release them when needed, like when there is a long lull between games (or offseason).

Like an “In case of emergency, break glass”!

    • John Lee

To pun or not to pun…

    • real-dsb

      Christine is da real MVP.

0:05 I don’t understand what happened here. Lin passed the ball to his teammate. And then he waves his hand, and the teammate passes it back to him??? =)

0:08 Excellent, excellent footwork. Started to drive, then suddenly did a step back, quickly got both feet behind the 3 pt line, set and balanced for the immediate shot with no hesitation. Curry-esque! (Remember when he used to have a toe on the line frequently?)

    • blubell

LOL. Yes, I said it. Surprised on one did…

    • steven ko

In light of today’s events or “misunderstandings”, it’s time to start an emoji conversation…Where’s Chandler Parsons when you need him?

    • Acbc

Suggest a new topic we can all agree on, like Lakers for last place, or Harden soap opera this season.

      Discuss on Discus

    • Michael

Isn’t it such a buzz kill.

    • CJSHYY

In fact, I think it’s not too bad after all everything it’s crystal clear now just in time before season starts. That’s good sign. Hope we all can do it like what Paul said.

    • Rick Johnson

Wonder if we’ll see much interaction between Michael Jordan and JLin? You know the Chinese reporters are going to ask MJ about Lin.

    • Michael

What do you have in mind ( ̄ー ̄)~

    • CJSHYY

Ya! I am interesting to know that too… I read MJ always show up in the game time?! Can’t wait for season to start…

    • John Lee

To be honest I’ve completely forgotten about ’till you brought it up. Been following closely on Iron-blooded Orphans, and the upcoming Macross Delta (announcement in late October).

Will definitely check it out, though.

    • Rick Johnson

I’ve seen articles say that he’s going with the team to China.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! He will. MJ is the biggest star for this team & he’s the boss. LOL!

    • John Lee

MJ’s in full business mode now, hopefully he’s better at marketing in China than he is at drafting new NBA players. (Kwame, anyone?)
