Predict Charlote Hornets First 10 Games Win-Loss Record

With 4-0 preseason record and another 4 to go, it might be fun fun to create a new thread+poll to vote for Hornets Win-Lose record for the 1st 10 games.

Login with your site username (not Disqus) to vote so we can keep track of who has the best guess. Deadline is Oct 27 before Oct28 game

Here is the list of first 10 games in 19 days so we can start thinking about the matchups.:
– 6 home games & 4 road games
– Only 1 back-to-back game (Wolves+Knicks)
– However, only 3 of 8 teams were not playoff teams last season (Heat, Knicks, Wolves)
– remember portland and mavs lost a lot of players (Alain Gervais )
– and Miami is better than last season. Knicks (preseason so far) looks to be better too (BlueCypher)

POLL

Guess Hornets record in the first 10 games (Heat, Hawks, Hawks, Bulls, Mavs, Spurs, Wolves, Knicks, Bulls, Blazer )?
  • takemeback2reaganyears

    10-0 very possible

  • Alain Gervais

    7-3 is conservative

  • Rick Johnson

I imaging this would have been different if D’Antoni stayed and JLin was enabled to play his game. Too bad TWC was drinking the Kobe, BScott Koolaid. Hope Coach Dave Miller gets laid off (I know that’s mean but I hate that BScott cheerleader)

TWC Sports layoffs to affect Lakers, Dodgers, Galaxy programing

    http://www.dailynews.com/sports/20150917/twc-sports-layoffs-to-affect-lakers-dodgers-galaxy-programing

An unspecified number of layoffs and programming cutbacks have taken place at Time Warner Cable’s El Segundo-based TWC SportsNet —home of the Lakers— SportsNet LA —home of the Dodgers— and TWC Deportes, according to several sources and confirmed by the company this morning.

Details on how many were let go and how it broke down by departments was not detailed. Sources indicated more than 30 people have been let go at Deportes, including all of its on-air talent, meaning no more pre- or post-game shows for the Galaxy or any kind of programming not related to live event coverage.

In a memo to staff employees, TWC Sports indicated the struggling ratings were the reason for the cutbacks.

  • Alain Gervais

do hornets have a broadcast team???

  • Rick Johnson

Probably. But figured they’d split one with the Hawks, drop one to the Spurs and maybe lose one more that they should have won but let slip away.

  • Alain Gervais

    split chicago

    http://www.nba.com/hornets/fox-sports-southeast-announces-2015-16-charlotte-hornets-telecast-team

CHARLOTTE (Aug. 27, 2015) – FOX Sports Southeast, entering its eighth year as the Charlotte Hornets regional television partner, announced today it will have a three-person telecast team for the Hornets upcoming 2015-16 regular season. Broadcasting veteran Eric Collins joins the FOX Sports Southeast telecast team as the new Hornets play-by-play announcer. He will be partnered with Stephanie Ready, who will become the first full-time female NBA game analyst and former Hornets standout Dell Curry, who returns to FOX Sports Southeast as a game analyst.

  • Alain Gervais

    thx

  • John Lee

Hoping for 10-0, obviously, but Murphy’s Law dictates that if something can go wrong, it will at a certain time (ex: Kemba’s and Lamb’s shooting, Al’s matchups). So I’m going with 7-3 or better.

  • Rick Johnson
  • Rick Johnson

JLin is a Spurs killer though. Would like to see him drop another 38 pts on them but this time win with better teamates.

  • Rick Johnson

Will be interesting to see if NYK will still be undefeated in the preseason Saturday. Either they or the Celtics will no longer be undefeated tomorrow. Like to see JLin spank Melo with his new buddies.

  • Briiick

Tank to get lottery picks, LOL !

  • John Lee

Hilarious. See, I like down-to-earth guys like Stephen Curry, brings up smiles, rather than stress, to the people watching. GSW was wise in getting rid of Monta in favor of Stephen.

  • John Lee

Rating was struggling because quality was suffering. If all TWC Sports does is pump out shallow, biased and unprofessional garbage, people have plenty of other options to turn to in this day and age.

  • John Lee

Personally, I think it’s less likely that Jeremy will have that kind of high scoring this season. If nothing else, Hornets may blow out opponents early on, like they did the Clippers, so that Jeremy wouldn’t have to close.

I’d much rather see Hornets at 38 wins by mid-season than Jeremy having 38-point nights. Obviously having both is better, but greed is often punished rather than rewarded. 🙂

  • ra

    i;m all lin 10-0 baby…..

  • LW

    9-1. Nobody is perfect!

  • sport

I’m sure JLin will have 30+ pt games when it really matters at close games.

  • John Lee

Lakers most likely 1-7 for preseason, with only win against Maccabi Haifa. Last three games vs GSW (twice) and POR.

Further proof that they don’t need to try to tank, it comes naturally under BS reign. Top 3 protected is as good as theirs.

  • Ulysses Modder

Even with these win in the preseason, the most of the fans from Hornets think the team is very weak in defense and therefore should win 35 games in the regular season

  • John Lee

Chances are they haven’t watched the games. Holding Clippers to 8 pts and 9 TOs in a quarter is anything but weak.

  • Ulysses Modder

Will the Hornets be over or under 31.5 wins?

    http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1409940

  • Rick Johnson

He was on pace for that yesterday after the first quarter and would have if he didn’t get into foul trouble. No wonder Harden doesn’t defend, he wants to avoid fouls to stay in the game to score.

  • GoJLin!

Yes, Love to have 10-0, but for the safe side, I will say 8-2.

  • CJSHYY

This season will be even worst bc Lakers is really bad this season. I think BS should prepare for next job hunting now.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Don’t blame them, they’ve lost for so long.

  • blueCypher

    10-0 is realistic 🙂 Let’s go!

  • Michael

Sigh I was hoping for Clyde Drexler, Marc Lamont Hill and Coach Dave Miller. ( can I down vote myself?)

  • Acbc

Hawks and Spurs may be the only teams to take 1-2 from them. I’m calling for 8-2 based upon what I’ve seen. I believe Hornets were one of the better defending teams last year so with Lin replacing MKG, I think it tips the scale to net positive for the team. Lin will surprise fans with his tenacious D but his offence will more than make up for it on offence.

This team is tough with addition of psycho T to big Al. They handled 1 of the top tough bigs in Jordan. This team has amazing size and skill up front. All they need is more Lin and they’ll get more wins.

So why is Hirnets doing so well in preseason? It’s plain and simply the Lin effect. Knicks had the talent up front but no one to make it work together. Give Lin play time and he’ll recreate the same magic as he did in NYC. The talent is there and the desire is definitely there. I’m confident that if cliffor gives Lin minutes he’ll win so many games for the team.

8-2 May in fact be underestimating the talent on this team.

  • sport

Is it just me or does Zeller got hit alot during the Clippers game?

  • joyce ward

I think I’m going 10-0 also because this team is fast, lot’s of high bball IQ. They also don’t quit on plays. Bigs can shoot/pass/score and are always where they are suppose to be. The good teams will have a hard time breaking them down especially if 1-2 superstars eating the stats. Clippers are a prime example. When they couldn’t break them down they started playing dirty.

  • spiderman

    Another D-Angelo

  • CaliUSMC

    6-4 baby.

  • sport

I chose 10-0 too. The only teams that can give them a hard time would be Hawks and Spurs due to similar style and teamball. Although Lin have always done well against the Spurs, they’ve added LaMarcus Aldridge so it’ll be an interesting battle.

  • blubell

I’ll down vote you to get you started. lol. Oh and you forgot Stu Lance… I’ll go ahead and down vote myself…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

You are not delusional. Yes, Clippers did target Zeller, both Pierce and Jordan receive Fragrant 1.

  • CJSHYY

I said 8-2 bc you will not have hot hand every game so….

  • blubell

    Those dirty Clippers!

  • heart

No, it’s not just you. I saw the same. I gained respect for Zeller for not whining and continued to do his job hustling even though knowing Clippers’ bigs were probably tried to intimidate him.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Personally I would give Jordan Fragrant 2 for the way he hit Zeller.

  • blubell

I’m going agree with you because you are the reigning champion of JLin stats poll 🙂

  • CJSHYY

    Haha! Thank you.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

As I read the forum, not sure what I think about Hornets fans. Out of 27 posters, only 2-3 said about 50% of win. The rest is around 30-34 win mark. That’s why too low in the mind. Anyway I will know better once I see how Clifford is going to use JLin in regular season. If he knows JLin well, he will want to play JLin more to win games. In that case 50w is too low in my estimation:-)

  • Michael

How did I forget my man Stu.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Please please you 2 don’t bring back the nightmare now:-)

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Still very undecisive. Will let it sit for a few days before I vote:-) Should I go for 10-0 or somewhere between 7-3???!!!!:-)

  • heart

Yep, I’d be so upset if Zeller got injured from Jordan’ and Pierce’s intentional push (twice). Those falls must have hurt. And I think I’ve becoming protective of the Hornets teammates since they’re showing how unselfish they are and are gelling w/ Lin.

  • Michael

I;m 8-2 too, the coach may also want to try some things in the pre season that may not work.

  • blubell

My heart says 10-0 but CJSHYY has spoken. lol.

  • Michael

Just trying to stir up the Hornets Nest. ヾ(*´∀`*)ノ

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep I know. Couldn’t believe Clippers had to go so “dirty” tried to get a win. That was why I said Clippers were out for blood and tried to get a win in the first half esp first quarter. So glad that JLin and every Hornets didn’t let go and crashed them for 42 points win.

  • blubell

Please show yourself out. No, I’ll open the door for you and make sure you’re out. haha.

  • Michael

My heart says 10-0, my gut says 9-1 my spleen says 5-4 and my brain tells me …..nothing.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, please stop and go back to sleep. Don’t wake up until the end of the season:-)

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOLOLOL I know but I will still try to beat CJSHYY this season:-)

  • Michael

Hmm you sure that door isn’t more like a window on the 10th floor?

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • blubell

I think your brain is mad at you. what did you do to it?

  • John Lee

They must be traumatized, not unlike us. Allow time to heal.

  • blubell

    higher…

  • Michael

    I woke it up.

  • John Lee

    I say Kwame 2.0. LOL

  • John Lee

    I love you, man.

  • heart

Yep, But how the tide turned when JL7 surprised them by scoring 10pts in a row putting them in catch up mode to frustrate their game plan. They weren’t ready for it. I saw Doc Rivers post game interview, he said their frustration started in the first quarter. They could not get good looks to score.

  • CJSHYY

    Haha! 🙂

  • CJSHYY

    Haha!!!

  • blubell

did it go something like this?
    ___
    http://images-cdn.9gag.com/photo/157457_700b.jpg

  • John Lee

Shouldn’t be too difficult as long as one of the 30 teams is planning to tank. BS is elite tanker who doesn’t even need to try, it comes naturally. That said, 76rs are probably out of the market since they got Okafor.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep from what I read, their last season plus MKG injury. They feel like they only can win as many as last season with the adding pieces. If not those, the wins will be much much lower. They don’t see the value of JLin being added to the team. They did place some value on Batum and Lamb.

  • John Lee

That’s RIGHT! Can’t wait for the new round to start! I think I came in tie-for-second with a few others.

  • Dan Ang

Charlotte Hornets goes 81-1 this year. That one lost due to Jeremy playing with a flu.

  • grover chang

Anyone watch the rockets vs warriors game tonight on TNT. Rockets losing bad 82 -53 at halftime. Was wondering if both teams were trying. Rockets should be worse this year but 30points by halftime!?

  • John Lee

Spleens are overrated, I say get rid of it.

  • blubell

Perhaps MJ should teach Jeremy how to play through the flu 🙂

  • John Lee

We’re gonna go after @CJSHYY:disqus like the Heat went after Jeremy in 2012.

  • CJSHYY

Didn’t watch but lots of starters didn’t play from Rox.

  • John Lee

They don’t know basketball as well as Michael Jordan, and they WILL be pleasantly surprised.

The vestigial toxin from HOU and LAL koolaid will be expunged very quickly in the first 10 games.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep I watched the interview live. Somehow I lost even more respect on those starters. They are the team has been together for years and had so many “superstars.” They needed to deal with their frustration professionally rather than hitting out to Zeller, the least known among the Hornet starters. They deserved to lose big by their acts. That’s why I was so glad all Hornets didn’t let go with their play despite of winning big. They just continued to practice of what they have been taught:-)

  • John Lee

No need to be greedy, I’d be happy with “just” 73-9 to beat the Bulls’ record to go down in NBA history.

  • grover chang

    That’s weird.

  • Rick Johnson

Rockets sent most of their starters home: Harden, Howard, Lawson, Ariza. Left Beverley there to fend for himself.

  • golfhacker

Not sure how I feel about their post. I understand they want to hype their client, but it was a team effort.

  • blubell

CJSHYY-sanity has come to an end?

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOLOLOL Not sure I’m bb savvy enough to do the task:-)

  • John Lee

We could trade him to jeremylin.net, just saying… LOL

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOLOL Can’t remember I’m part of the second or third:-) CJSHYY is just too far ahead to be chased last season. With no tank commander around this season, it’s a lot easier to predict this season soon after we see how Clifford is going to utilize JLin.

  • Tommy

    They should be better
    got rid of Josh smith
Got another good play maker to help harden
and Tjones and Dmo have become real threats
    they are set

  • Michael

    Couldn’t have explained it better.

  • Alain Gervais

all last season ohh we missed bev to lock curry down stats check 6-7 18 points lmao

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOLOLOL Good one. Somehow I prefer to keep CJSHYY around and trade you over:-)

  • blubell

Stop scheming in the open you two!

  • Dan Ang

Nice!e Easy on the eyes when watching the Hornets games,…..Stephanie Ready is alright too.

  • John Lee

Yeah, at least DNP – Coach’s Decision is no longer an option.

  • John Lee

Ouch that cut deep! I have a cult following here, you know? 😉

  • CJSHYY

    Haha! Thanks. LOL!

  • John Lee

I hope that they call out Violet Palmer on bad and/or no calls. Miss Lauren Holtkamp.

  • Acbc

Preseason is for testing line ups and combinations. Rox don’t ever need to test anything. Pass to Harden, get out of the way and Howard gets the rebounds….repeat endlessly to make Harden a star.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep it was too painful to go thru again to JLin and all his fans.

  • Alain Gervais

    what did he say?

  • Rick Johnson

Yes, now that we know JLin is on a good team with unselfish team players and a good smart coach we should try to support the whole team rather than bashing his teammates. Kind of like the 2012 Knicks without Melo and Woodson.

  • Alain Gervais

its their job also lin has the biggest name on the team. more like position for power especially if he plays well and he is the biggest name

  • Dan Ang

Common business practice. A lot of companies pay for ads congratulating themselves. In this case, it’s free and reaches hundreds if not millions. No brainer!

  • Tommy

    thats probably realistically generous

  • Tommy

    That’s quite optimistic
    Great teams lose too
    Back-to-back’s
and shots just dont fall sometimes
They can’t be this hot for 10 straight games and defense will be tighter come the regular season
They have bunch of good players but they dont have a great player that can take them to the next level

  • JoeTeam

    Gsw did fine last year.

  • CJSHYY

I believe Hornets will play well but they still have room to improve. They beat Clippers so bad bc Clippers didn’t expect Hornets changed so much from last season. (Before the game they sure thought Hornets was low end team….) But when regular season starts… Clippers or other teams will try to figure it out how to vs Hornets.

  • Briiick

I say 0-10 before it starts, and let them prove me wrong one by one ! I hope I am 100 % wrong this time.

  • joyce ward

I am one of those people who believe that if you put positive things into the atmosphere it will happen. I think this team is a team that will sneak upon the Eastern Conference and they will be surprised.

  • joyce ward

First off , Hornets are already playing at a mid season level in some areas. I have watched Clippers play in person and when they play really good teams, they struggle.

  • JW

don’t think they watch hornets’ games. not very positive. Jalen think lin will be more consistent, but not much more.
think it’ll be Al trying to get his points in his contract year. Walker will be still getting his shots. not in playoff

  • Tommy

well yah they still lost 15 games
    no one is perfect

  • Tommy

yah things will definitely get hard but they will still make the play offs I belive

  • Acbc

Oh man, you’re no fun. It’s like going to an amusement park but not taking any rides because they all end up where they started. Enjoy the Lin Prime ride and get on.

  • CJSHYY

    Sure they will.

  • joyce ward

Jalen Rise can have seats because he is always wrong. He always talking out both sides of his mouth.

  • Tommy

I think they are a good team and will surprise people but they are still not quite there yet not on the level of elite teams(warriors, Rockets, Bulls, Cavs, okc and spurs maybe the wizards too)

  • Infini

First, it really depends on Jeremy’s role. If it’s like what we see in preseason, then I think they can go 8-2 (losing to the Hawks once and the Spurs).

But if Jeremy is marginalized and benched again? 2-10 (only wining against the Knicks and Trailblazers).

  • Tommy

The highlight of his career? 81

  • CJSHYY

Wizards? I think Bulls & Rox are not really clear will be as good as last season. Have to wait until season really starts.

  • Michael

They took it out on Lin in the past, but if they tried it this time, I bet they would still be in Shang-Hai today.

  • joyce ward

The only team on your list I will call elite is the Warriors because they have always remained consistent in their play and didn’t deviate from the norm. The other teams you named were up and down all last season.

  • CJSHYY

Don’t worry Lin will not be benched in Hornets like he did in Rox & Lakers. They need him.

  • Tommy

John wall Beal are real threats then theres Gortat
Bulls have great front court then Mirotic is up n coming then theres Jimmy Butler Rose will be fine too
Rox are stacked MVP runner up James harden, Howard, Ty Lawson, Ariza, Tjones and Dmo we know what these players are capable of lol
but ya houston defense is a little worrisome

  • Rick Johnson

Rich Cho and Steve Clifford are fighting this season to get extensions on their contracts. I wouldn’t expect any shenanigans. Lin breaking out are in their best interests.

  • joyce ward

    Dude really?

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I think they put their faith on Lin….LOL!

  • Tommy

I they can reach conference finals they are elite
They have in the past 2 years except the bulls and wizards
they still have pretty much the same team if not better

  • Tommy

My point is 10-0 isnt gonna be easy and the warriors are better than the hornets

  • Hope

    18-0

  • CJSHYY

I agree they probably didn’t watch any Hornets games yet… smh! Season is going to start soon … they will be shock…

  • blueCypher

    Thats… mathematically impossible

  • Acbc

Lin did it with no starters except for Tyson Chandler during Linsanity. They had a super compressed schedule during a strike year. 7-8 wins in a row (?), 9/1 (?)…with second string players.

By far the toughest will be Spurs withDuncan and Alderidge.

  • joyce ward

    Bingo, I agree

  • Tommy

That was a miracle and became a sensation

  • Tommy

because stuff like that never happens

  • John Lee

As soon as BS had a lapse after Kobe stopped playing last year, Lin led the lowly Lakers to beat GSW. And trust me those Lakers weren’t better than these Hornets.

I do agree that 10-0 is extremely tough to get, as it takes a combination of skills and luck, but it is not unattainable, as no team on this list is better than the GSW, or even the fully staffed Clippers.

  • John Lee

Buzzkill, buzzkill…whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do…?

  • Tommy

Spurs and Bulls worry me a little bit

  • John Lee

I agree, and it’s what I based my 7-3 vote on (worst case scenario). Lose to Spurs, split with both Bulls and Hawks, beat the rest, or any other combination.

  • Tommy

sometimes good teams lose to really bad teams
    so I give it 6-4

  • Jalen Rose hasn’t done his homework yet on Hornets
He assumed Hornets will not make playoff because they’ll go to Jefferson post-up game again this season.

It’s obvious he hasn’t watched Hornets 3pt game in the 4-0 preseason record.
At least he said JLin will be better than in his Lakers tanking season, which is not saying much.

  • Maknusia

    Aye

  • Maknusia

    Lol that’s greedy

  • Maknusia

Yeah…When the season starts the scouting report would be out

  • jlim7

10-0 (and 75-7 for whole season) is attainable, if Lin plays 32 minutes his Linsanity game on every game and not targeted by opponent. However, I think coach purposely will arrange Lin to play mostly on gear 2 and gear 3 in the regular season, and keep gear 4 and gear 5 for playoff. Too many teams intended to play Lin recklessly, so to avoid injury, I think for first 10 games maximum is 8-2 and for whole season is 60-22.

  • IsabeliJane*17

    -75-7
    -3rd seed in the East
-Either second round of the playoffs or semis.

IF and ONLY IF Jeremy is played with lots of minutes,on 1.

  • Hans

6-4. losing to the Hawk, Spurs, Heat, Bulls. The team is still young, will win more later in the season albeit injury.

  • real-dsb

3rd seed with 75 wins? So 2 teams will have more than 75 wins?

    2 wins, 8 losses.

    Easily…for two teams combined. 🙂

  • Bearness

I think they can do 6-4.

  • Martin Chong

Can do, but only those with right prediction can vote.

  • KL

I think there is a lot more going on with the Hornets than meets the eye.

    1. Rich Cho has signed a whole bunch of high quality players at bargains. There is a bizarre correlation with Khuang’s analysis of overlooked players. So Rich Cho must have some advanced stats which the other league does not have access to.

    2. MJ makes comments about JLin which makes perfect sense to all of us fans. Yet the general media perception is the complete opposite. BS, MccHale and mainstream media have said that JLin does not have PG instincts, no court vision, bad defense etc. I think MJ knows something that the rest of the league does not. Anyway not many teams were really interested in Lin during free agency.

    3. Rich Cho announcing that JLin being a backup is a brilliant move from the perspective of team harmony. They promised Kemba the starting slot when he signed the contract extension. Unlike other GMs who break promises (you know who I am talking about), Rich Cho sees the bigger picture.

    4. Jeremy seems so much better this season? Whilst I think this is partly from his own training, I think 70% of the improvement comes from coaching helping him to succeed.

I am only extrapolatong but if this organisation is as smart as I think it is, they are really going to shake the league.

8-2 for the first 10 games!

note: btw i can’t access or see this thread/poll on its own only by linking it from where it was announced in the previous thread.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Thanks! That’s quite surprise. I can see this thread with no issue at all. Hopefully IT savvy can help to resolve this matter.

  • grover chang

I don’t think Rich Cho has advanced stats that other people don’t have. I mean Daryl Morey and Cuban run the conference on advanced stats. But even Morey, the stats guru, says you have to take both the stats and old school eye test to evaluate players. Fortunately for Cho, the other front office don’t think the new hornet acquisitions “look” the part, in spite of the stats.

  • TK Wong

    Great post

  • John Lee

    1. In other words, Rich Cho is what Morey is only pretending to be.
    2. MJ’s words carry far more weight than McHale’s and BS’ combined…and then some.
    3. Rich Cho is both a good politician and a strategist.
    4. Clifford is the real deal who was missing key pieces last season, but Rich Cho got them in the offseason.

    Great observation!

  • John Lee

Morey and Cuban either only “claim” to run advanced stats, or they have a different definition (loose interpretation) for “advanced”.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I don’t see the logic that James Harden is thought of as an MVP over Steve Curry. Please examine the heads of people like Morey and others.

  • Acbc

MJ was one who would post negative comments on him to fire himself up. You think maybe the Hornets as a whole don’t see this stuff and are feeding off of it like adding lighter fluid to an open flame!

There are a lot of intangibles but perhaps the biggest is that this team is hungry, they are pissed, they are tired of being talked down to. THEY WANT TO KICK SOME BUTT AND MAKE THE DOUBTER EAT THEIR WORDS. Sounds like a perfect match for Lin to be on this team.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Yeah we have seen teams like Miami, Clippers playing dirty so far. Only Magic played it fair in the pre-season.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

It’s the depth of GSW which has astounds everybody. They gets most of their firepower from the draft.

  • Acbc

There’s no logic to hope,…..no not Hope but the human concept of hope!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

If you watched the first two quarters of the two games in China, the Clippers played well until Hornets grinded it out with gritty effort from every players. They the Clippers gave in after the first half of the game.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I also predicted a 7-3 record. The ball is round and it could bounce one way or the other on given nights.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Like that young man. He did no whinning or flopping. Compare him with Lance Stephenson. Gosh what a difference. Stephenson is a fake star.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Although Lin got only 3 points in the Q3, Lin was instrumental in routing the Clippers in that Qtr. After the 3rd quarter whereas the Clippers were held to 8 points, they gave in.

  • Acbc

Too much M&M cool aide and way too much BS in your miracle comment. If you want to believe that, you’ve ignored a lot of hard facts to point to how marginalized Lin was the last 3 seasons.

I think for myself and believe in hard facts, not BS from so called experts who were culpable in denying Lin access to college scholarships, draft picks and facts. They are linsanity denyers.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lamb is really overrated. He has all the looks of a good NBA player but his stats has told me otherwise. His 3 years in OKC didn’t improve his game at all while Jeremy Lin has worked hard to improve every season despite being bashed every season.
Lamb needs coaching to polish on his game. His effort on defense needs to improve and his layups are inconsistent. He couldn’t shoot the 3s on the court well enough to start for the game. He is a major disappointment for the Hornets. He still gets paid over $3m this year.

  • Acbc

How can you forget Stool…he stunk up the air.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

His tanking strategy would be called out if he tried to repeat what he did last season on Jeremy Lin to other players.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Celtics will spank the Knicks with their discipline.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I love the point 6 about Jeremy Lamb who is still playing with his raw talent and not much on defense. Jeremy Lamb is just a project that will take at least as many years as in OKC to bring out the best of him.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The diehard fans of Lakers deserve everything they got from bashing MDA. Now they got stuck with a Laker coach, Byron Scott. Serve them ding dong right.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lottery picks don’t make championship. The Timberwolves is a great example of this.

  • linfan

Jeremy Lin’s role on the Hornets will be to score as many points as he can. He may start as SG or he may come off the bench for instant offense, but they want him to put up points. Kemba will love it because it will pad his assist total. I was not familiar with Roberts before, but based on his preseason performance, he is too good to languish on the bench, he will be the 2nd unit point guard with either JLin or JLamb as SG. The only way Jeremy becomes starting point guard on this team is if Kemba goes down with injury, although I could see him rotating in as PG with the other starters on occasion to rest Kemba or if Kembas is having a bad game. These are just some guesses based on preseason.

  • Sinners_Gospel

Probably looks like a 5-5 start. But I will go 6-4 with the team grinding one extra win.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Kwok Wai Lai

Playing at top level every night is very demanding. The NBA schedule is so tight that consistent effort needs lots of depth in all areas from a team. The depth of SG and SF of the Charlotte team worries me. 7-3 actually is pretty good for a team of the Hornets and that would surprise lots of people.

  • Rzo Vlade

    hornets starting line up

    C AL
    PF Cody
    SF marvin
    SG batum
    PG walker

do you think you cliff will roll with this

dont like jlin at SG he will get early foul………he can only get at sg at from time to time but full time dont like it

  • CJSHYY

ESPN & BR really don’t think that high on Hornets… smh! 30 win? Let’s wait & see then….

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I like this guy. He could come in and immediately help to fill the depth in SG/SF.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Pride and prejudice.

  • The Hornets have been very impressive. Loved the way Coach Clifford has his team playing team ball with a lot of open shots created. I predict a very solid start, maybe racking up 7/8 wins.

I have just written up a new article on JLin about his tour of China.
    https://jhaposts.wordpress.com/2015/10/16/jeremy-lin-tour-of-china-with-the-charlotte-hornets/

Hope you all enjoy, and thanks for your support. You guys are amazing.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Well, the stats comes from a very small sample.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Clifford has to try out some different combination of players. If you have a player like Batum, you will use him at both SG and SF to give you different looks. It’s all good. Having Marvin come in as SF would help the team too.

  • Rick Johnson

Cody Zeller isn’t going to look as good without Lin. I didn’t like how Lin got into foul trouble early either but I remember JLin did well in SG roll in Houston when Harden out and he lead to wins as SG against SAS & DAL b2b.

  • Hope

I wonder if Rich Cho calls Khuang for advise nowadays.

  • CJSHYY

Lin will be SG I guess bc Lamb is not good in O & D when he started. Who else can do it?

  • Hope

    I mean 10-0 & 8-0 pre-season

  • Acbc

All of us worry so much about “appearance” and credit. If Lin was like that, he’d be out of the league long ago, in fact, he may have even given up after high school with that kind of mindset. Luckily for us, Lin isn’t made like that. Lin cares about his craft and his love of play. Guess what, money and fame means very little to Lin. It means much much more to us than him. He wants to play and for once since MDA, he may actually get the playtime he needs to shine. Let’s all stop being such tiger fans and let Lin do his magic and prove his way.

GSW did it with a powerful bench, so did Spurs. Even if Lin comes off bench, he’ll outshine the starters with the great talent on the bench. Why do you think big Al and Kemble want him to start? They want a piece of that shine.

Lin is all about the win. Clifford and Cho is also about the win. Even off bench, Lin will be on floor in the forth to close out the game with whichever crew is playing better. Lin will clutch the win for them at the end of the game.

  • John Lee

What if Rich Cho IS KHuang? LOL

How else would you explain the Lin and Hansbrough acquisitions?

  • David Kim

When harden out, he averaged around 18pts and 6 assists.

  • CJSHYY
  • My prediction is conservatively 8-2 assuming JLin starts at SG & Hornets ball movement gets better

@MIA W JLin helped set the tone & ball movement. Young Hornets outran Heat
@ATL L Hornets came to compete but ATL team chemistry was better to pull it close in the end
ATL W Hornets D is better now & more 3s fell at home to win a close game
CHI W Hornets deep bench plays a factor here
@DAL W DWill ankle once again is no match for Hairsanity + the Hornets
@SAS L SAS might be old but the execution was slightly better than young Hornets
@MIN W Dancing with the Wolves is not match for Frank’s Limber Dance
NYK W Hornets team pulls behind JLin to dissect the NYK triangle offense w/ ping-pong offense
@CHI W The Bulls started running hard out of the gate but couldn’t keep up with Hornets ball movement
POR W The young Hornets rallied behind Batum to give him a memorable win vs Lillard & cos

If Hornets are not quite in synch in defensive rotation, they might drop 3 games (ATL, CHI, MIA) to make it 5-5. But if Kemba/Lin is splitting 40-60 playmaking, we’ll get to see the first 10-0 start in the Hornets history!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Need your second opinion as I re-watch game 1 vs Clippers again, Jeremy’s only TO was actually a miscall by the refs. The ball was tapped out of bound by Lance otherwise it would be a nice assist. Watch:

    https://youtu.be/h0hOdWoDcVs?t=1601

  • grover chang

Hornets strength is their depth. Following the model of warriors, spurs, and hawks which is to have a good starting 5 and a good bench that will come at you in waves. Not give any let down in the game. Hornets will come in waves, wear you down with points coming from multiple angles. The teams that beat them will be those teams that do the same thing but do it better, I.e the teams above. So hornets 7-3.

  • TTNN

True. So Rick probably has all the infor….?

Noticed Woodson is on Clipper staff. Lol

  • spiderman

Lin can easily go with GQ help (as previously done). But hey … The Moe look is fun

  • Acbc

They may be getting the pink slip soon what with all the cut backs. TWCLA is losing money on rights to Lakers because of Kobe and BS.

  • Acbc

My thoughts exactly, except I’m 8-2.

  • JW

I guess when the team is losing, how many times do u really wanna hear about it.

  • orLinaryjoe

Agree with GQ. Spikes or cap. No Moe bowl, or Mowl.

  • TTNN

yes, he does had the advantage that traveling with the team, thus got to talk to player and coaches.

  • the angle makes it hard to tell.
It could be touched last by Zeller as Lance deflected it.
Zeller & Lin didn’t protest so it could be the case

  • JW
  • Acbc

Was it the one where he was crossing high in the paint and the two bigs had their backs to him instead of looking for a pass. With more time all the bigs will be looking for those easy baskets underneath and Lin wouldn’t have to think twice. It looked like it was off of zeller’s hands but not really sure.

  • JW
  • takemeback2reaganyears

and @psalm. Yes, it happened so fast and we don’t have the right angle either. Interesting.

  • spiderman

Pretty cool when teammates actually appreciate your talent, and do not try to step on you to get ahead

  • Acbc

I really like that Lin is forcing the bigs to learn to space properly and especially look for passes.

the parody account is quite witty and funny

  • CJSHYY

Ya! They finally recognize how much Lin brings to this team on & off court.

  • I guess we should give them some time watching exciting games before hopping on the Lin bandwagon 😀

I can’t wait to watch Lin and teammates clicking on all cylinders against his previous coaches who misused him (BScott & McHale).

  • real-dsb

“remember portland and mavs lost a lot of players (Alain Gervais )”
“and Miami is better than last season. Knicks (preseason so far) looks to be better too (BlueCypher)”

LOL, makes it sound like Mavs lost Alain Gervais, and Knicks are better because BlueCypher is playing well. =)

  • CJSHYY

I think Mav & Portland both probably will not make it to playoff this season. Cuban will get what he asks for it. LOL!

  • haha.. these players can be dangerous too

  • CJSHYY

    Ya! Also Mav.

  • I wonder if Cuban will say at some point, “We should’ve capitalized on JLin in 2015 .. and Nash in 2004.
I don’t know why I kept missing on these playmakers”

  • real-dsb

Top voting results so far (make sure to vote if you haven’t already, need to be signed into jlinportal wordpress, not just disqus).

    8-2 (30%)
    7-3 (27%)
    10-0 (14%)
    5-5 (11%)

I’m glad to see that many folks here have high expectations, hope you are right! I will say this, if Hornets start the season 8-2, then I predict they will be #2 seed in EC. If they start 10-0, then I predict #1 seed in EC.

  • CJSHYY

I always feel Cuban only said something PR about Lin but never really trust him even when he’s in Linsanity period. This summer, Cuban really made me so disappointed on him. Can’t believe he’s so dumb…?! But also confirmed my thought he never really trust Lin. smh!

  • real-dsb

I don’t have any ill will towards Cuban. I think he caught up in the DeAndre fiasco, and let Lin slip through his fingers. I think that if the DeAndre decommitment didn’t happen, the Mavs would have pursued Lin more seriously.

  • golfhacker

In the end, it turned out for the best (for Jeremy at least)!

  • CJSHYY

I don’t feel that way bc from the beginning they already put down the value for PG position not just Lin. Since Cuban’s beloved CP will run the Point… I don’t think he’s really high on Lin bc to him JJ is their guy… Lin, Felton, PB no different to him.

  • TTNN

Glad it turns out this way, that will be another tanking team……

  • blueCypher

    Agree

  • Thanks for your support real, it means a lot.

  • heart

John Schuhmann’s NBA article (10/16) mentioned new Hornets additions: Batum, Hawes, Kaminsky, Lamb, but not one word on JLin. Ido Amir tweeted about it. Like I said we shall know overtime who has an agenda or some kind of ill-will against Lin when they ignore the obvious.

  • CJSHYY

I will just ignore it bc you think this guy will mention Lin after you go after him? NO. He did it on purpose in the first place so why bother to click for him.

  • heart

Just want to give you guys heads up. In the future, I will not click when I see his name.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I think he maybe just don’t like Lin or whatever his reason…? Lin’s game will make him have to mention Lin when season starts… like it or not.

  • 1mtoldman

outside of the parameters of my current posting limits but since i first mentioned it prior to this thread being reported as “gone” and then returned….i see in a 8 minute ago post (tho i can’t find it in this thread) that you answered someone: “which url is not working for you…”

so maybe someone else is having trouble getting into this thread, still.

still (for me) its not just that i can’t vote in the poll but that this thread does not show up at all logged to only disqus (which is all i have ever been logged into..ever)

and perhaps that is the problem for someone else as well.

to conclude still (for me) logged into disqus only this thread does not show up; i just got to it by clicking on yer post in the side column which features “recent posts” and which indicated that post was on this thread…then i get this thread. but again only logged into disqus this thread still does not appear on the homepage.

  • CJSHYY

I know Ido’s in good will for Lin but after 3 years… Some writers just annoying & no matter what you said or show infor to them… it’s not matter to them at all. Not many people will read it. Don’t worry.

  • 1mtoldman

not uncommon or unique to this particular commentator (john schumann) or article.

i just recently got the newstand edition of usa todays nba preview issue; in the ” whats different this season” section for charlotte, batum, kaminsky and lamb are mentioned; lin (and hawes) are not.

the entire half page article only references lin once under 3 point shooting along with batum. that they should help a terrible 3 point shooting team.

if one avoided every commentator or article that ignored lin one would have to shield theirselves perpertually. (even with some grudging movement of recognition in his direction this pre-season).

  • heart

Ido is good towards Lin. It’s Schuhmann that I will avoid clicking to read his article or hear any of his opinions.

  • CJSHYY

I know. I will not click for him. He will need Lin in the future. smh!

  • CJSHYY

I know. I like Ido. But right now in Hornets we really no need to fight w media like we did in Rox. Thanks God. 🙂

  • heart

I know what you mean. Let there be peace!

  • CJSHYY

Hornets media are nice so far. 🙂

  • heart

Agree. So far Hornets media are fair and likeable. They do research their facts and correct them if they’re wrong. I like them so far…

  • CJSHYY

Agree. I really can’t believe how evil Rox media to Lin.. Morey… smh!

  • TTNN
  • heart

Yep, besides having to deal w/ the politics of Harden and Morey’s egos, McHale’s incompetence, it was painful to have to listen to the Rocketts’ commentators (the three stooges like someone called them). Imagine Lin had to face them directly and was in the mix of them. God help us this year…a new page for Lin and Lin fans.

  • CJSHYY

    What? So short? smh!

  • Steppen03

    Add Meeee In…!
8-2 is very realistic. The skills guys are veterans and Not many rooks on this team, Frank Kam and who …, uh I’m bad, and so the Hornets is gonna start steam rolling over many good teams right from the start, just like the last 3 games. The previous games were no flukes (hence, Linsanity comparison) – but rather an indication of what’s going to come. The Team is like a Storm – going to hit the opposing team hard and all they can do is brace themselves for it. I’m a believer from the start, before the preseason even started, because I have faith in JL7 & Coach Cliff.

  • TTNN

well, after 4 pre-season game, it is obvious the Hornets team had changed their offense, and this guy is still talking about last season’s shooting and last in 3 pts. Very obvious that this guy is a lazy reporter who only look at the numbers but not look at the game, he is still talking about out dated stuff there.

However, that said, I wouldn’t say he is hating, just lazy.

  • CJSHYY

I really hate that three commentators. I think they just did what top asked them to say… smh! Also said not nice thing about PB before his FA… but not as bad as Lin.

  • heart

He had stats on everybody else except Lin’s. Having said that, I just observe his actions and what he produces, not calling him ‘hating’ on Lin. I’d give the benefit of the doubt as long as he’s fair.

  • Steppen03

    Good!
We all should be glad now that the Mavs did not sign Lin, not mad. One have to do some research before signing – Mavs’ coach and Cuban were not reliable. Clifford has better background that fits with Lin so much better (D’Antoni’s friend & advisor, coach Silas, good with D, model after GS Warriors, etc…). So, in a weird way, I’d like to thank Cuban for not signing JL7, and same to the Lakers for “freeing” JL7. JL7’s agents and advisors know better. I even glad that the Spurs didn’t grab him – Take a look at Jimmer Fredette – how much playing time ? what kind of role ?

  • JJ Hui

Exactly! Woodson had the first taste of Lin and teamates killing their team in China as Clippers assistant coach! LOL!

. If the King of Bball affirmed JLin’s skills then what other players, coaches and writers’ negative comments about JLin are utterly nonsense. MJ subtly rebutted Kobe for calling JLin soft. Probably even BS is looking silly now.
Also in a way telling Kemba and company to better buckle up.
I don’t think MJ is paying lips service because as a billionaire owner he doesn’t have to do that to gain business in China.

  • CJSHYY

I agree MJ knows BB game better than these reporters.

  • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

10-0 and I’ll be on cloud 9 every day for a whole month. I’m very, very happy if we’re 8-2, with that we’re Top 2 no doubts because it’s just our first month so we’ll be even more stronger later on.

  • TTNN

oh, don’t go there, MJ is pretty bad in talent scouting, so that really doesn’t mean much. And what he was saying in China, is pretty much business talk, and I wouldn’t count on that.

  • it’s still preaseason but we’ll take it :]

  • I think he’s more enamored with making Parsons a more handsome version of Dirk & possibility of making him a Point Forward

Well, he missed on Nash and missed again on JLin so he won’t reap the rewards of exciting basketball team with dynamic playmakers. One day he will look back and regret making the same mistake twice

  • CJSHYY

It’s vs GSW, sure will loss game why bother to play…LOL! Lakers is really bad now & they still can’t get a win for preseason game.

  • 1mtoldman

not true. the lakers can get a win in a preseason game…as long as they stay in the israeli premiere league.

  • Rick Johnson

Isn’t Boston and NYK both still undefeated too? They play each other today.

  • CJSHYY

Haha! It’s true. I should say NBA team in USA

  • 1mtoldman

the hornets have the best record in the nba at 4 and 0.

the celts and nicks are both undefeated but they have only played 2 and 1 games respectively against nba opponents.

1mtoldman, you write better than all of them as do a lot of other posters. I thank all who can shield their eyes and heart while reading garbage and reporting back to us. I salute you all for your dedication. As for me, I get all my Lin news right here.

  • zxcvb

It’s not the record that has me optimistic…it’s HOW they’re winning.

The starters with Lin easily destroyed CP3, JJ, Blake and DJ. The game before, Hornets also won easily with teamball. The ugliest game was an easy win over the “superior” Heat, holding them to just 77pts. The only close game was the opener in Orlando where Lin put on a PG clinic. The team had 30 assists on 35 FGs, which is insane even for preseason.

Not saying this team will repeat the Hawks’ run from last season (we’ll see how Lin is used in real games), but this definitely looks like a playoff team. I feel bad for MKG (though he did get PAID big time), but as ESPN Radio noted, Nic Batum does everything MKG does and more.

  • Singapore BB Fan

Some prefer to believe the negative stuff about JLin. But when comes to positive comments some tend to doubt the commentors’ intentions and credibility.

  • Acbc

Anyone that has a rap sheet with messing up the team shouldn’t be trusted. I never wanted Lin in Dallas because of of Rondo and Nash. Lin would have been working for a boss with very little regard for chemistry.

  • zxcvb

I agree that it was pretty hollow talk, but it can only help Lin gain a greater role. The greedier MJ is, the more he’ll want to see Lin succeed. Dolan and Les Alexander don’t care…they’re way wealthier than MJ. But MJ always wants/needs more money.

I mean hey, I love Jordan — he’s a basketball god — but lord knows he can never have enough money for his personal spending habits (e.g. gambling, women, etc.).

  • Acbc

Sometimes it does seem like a manhole with the steel cover over it. Lol. Now I know how maddening the game is when a 2 foot tap in is as scary as an island green.

  • zxcvb

Gotta find a way to get Steve Novak in Charlotte! Even more 3pt shooting and good chemistry, and he can be the Hornets’ Paxson/Kerr/Kapono.

  • TTNN

they have a PF jam already……..

  • TTNN

    LOL, you sounds really hyped.

You believe what you believe, you don’t need MJ to agree with you to believe that. Then you won’t get so excited to what MJ said, or get angry on what some reporter say.

  • Joe what do you know

Hmm… Interesting. Can’t seem to access this thread through my iPhone. Only able to do so via a desktop…

I had the opposite problem earlier today.

  • real-dsb

He’s not the only one, I’ve seen a few articles about the new Hornets rosters and additions, no mention of Lin. As I always say though, I like it. The less attention on Lin, the more opponents will be surprised!

  • Rick Johnson
  • Rick Johnson

I’m hoping Knicks win so when the Hornet’s beat them they would have beaten another undefeated team and handed them their first defeat. Also Knicks beating the Celtics will leave one less undefeated team.

  • Chris B.

Knicks bench have been very strong this preseason.

  • KL

I voted 8-2 because the mainstream narrative about the Hornets is still that they are a lousy team from last year and they just lost MKG. So they should suck or get worse this year. No credit or respect being given to JLin.

Clippers learnt the hard way about underestimating the Hornets and JLin. Yet despite 2 bad losses, they seem to be blaming themselves instead of giving credit to the Hornets. So I believe the start of the season will be the easiest period when the Hornets are still under the radar.

  • KL

    The Phil Jackson effect?

  • TTNN

He was pretty bad at SF though.

  • CJSHYY

Love Robin. Wish he can move to Hornets. LOL!

-You’re right. Maybe it’s a blessing in the sky. Opponents will be surprised like the Clippers for sure.
-Lin is definitely underrated and not given credit right now.
-Beside Schuhmann’s article, I just saw another article (10/16/2015) “Keys to Beat Knicks and Bulls” by Sam Perle, NBA Hornets.com, listing the scouting of every Hornets’ players except Lin. If this is on purpose so that Lin can be a surprised factor to the opponents, then perhaps it will work to Lin’s advantage.

Nice to know lack of money won’t be a factor.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

With Lin as the combo guard, suddenly the Hornets become so unpredictable with Lin at either the SG/PG position. Kemba actually played well in the preseason and fed Lin with great passes whenever Lin was open. Batum too. With Lin/Walker/Batum on the floor, the opposition just didn’t know what was hitting them. Big old Jeff is changing his game too, he is not only a threat down low and post up on you, he’s also hitting his mid range jumpers. If coach Clifford gets him moving on pick and roll too, the passing game of the Horents will be completely faultless as the other players were already keen on ping pong passing.

With Lin at PG/SG, Batum at SG/SF, Marvin at SF/PF, Zeller at SF/PF/C, Hawes at PF/C this team offsets some of their limitations on their roster; SG and SF.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Of course, any time you have starting quality in Lin PG/SG, Batum SG/SF, and Zeller SF/PF, the team will have lots of flexibility in the lineup; not to mention Marvin Williams SF/PF.

  • Acbc

The one comment you made about and that is we don’t know why MJ decided to say what he had to say. The truth is why rain on a positive comment from someone who has the respect of the dummies that say negative things about Lin for no other reason than being hateful, lazy or just plain ignorant.. Fact is that Lin needs all the help he can to fight the dirty battle raged upon him by negative media bias. THEY ARE BOTH EQUALLY SELF SERVING.

Let MJ keep talking for what ever personal gain he can get out of Lin. I don’t care no one else on this forum does either. We are all just glad that MJ the GOAT is saying good things about Lin.

  • CJSHYY

Tomorrow these two will start for Hornets or they will rest Lin & Zeller?

    https://twitter.com/hornets/status/655206198472343552

  • Kwok Wai Lai

For some reason, I’m really high on Damien Wilkins.
    First he’s not injury proned.
Second, he has had many years of experience under his belt.
Third, his desire to play the game at all level inspires me that this is a warrior on the court.
35 years is not that old for a SG, Kyle Korver is 34 and he still starts for the Atlanta Hawks.
This is a good player who is going to be ready to play the game at all time. The Hornets can use help like him in SG because Jeremy Lamb looks absolutely unready for the HORNETs the regular NBA season is so packed that it will take more depth to stay competitive every game for the Hornets. He would make the team if the Hornets just focus to win now this season. Really, Chao has wasted no time to sign him once MKG hurt his shoulder.

  • TTNN

I thought he was a SF, no?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

My prediction is that Jeremy Lamb is not mentally ready for the game of basketball this season. He has had too much time in the Thunders as backup SG.

  • John Lee

Old+soft. Make others run while calling them soft from chair on the sideline, then throw them under the bus.

    Disgusting is the word.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

6’6″ and 225 lb, he could be a SF in small ball.
SG, SF are positions that the Hornets needs most help. The Hornets are really loaded with talents at PF/C/PG

  • CJSHYY

    Then what? Starts him tomorrow?

  • TTNN

this is really weirdly written article, so sorry that Hornets has such a bad writer. Somehow Lin as the highest scorer on the team in pre-season was not in the Hornet scout section, but in Knicks section. What??

Then incomplete sentences, no structure, and like a read out of score board, and the scout of Knick or Bulls has no useful content….. Gosh I miss the guy who used to write for Rockets, this guy is not even as competent writer on a high school journal.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

He would be a big help starting at the bench. His concentration and his mind into the game would be his biggest asset. The love of the game of basketball of him is absolutely unquestionable.

  • TTNN

I’m always curious why Lamb did not work out in Thunder, and as a shooter, his shooting percentage is not that impressive either. Don’t get why is that.

  • John Lee

    “Starting at the bench”. LOL

  • Kwok Wai Lai

If it isn’t the body because he measures well in all aspects, it must be the heart of playing basketball. He’s too remote from being fiercely competitive on the court. Jeremy Lin is absolutely a fierce competitor. Same is for Kemba Walker, Batum, and Zeller. With these 4 players, you could put in whomever you please from the team as the 5th player, they would make it work well on the court.

  • TTNN

you sure you are excited about him? He was out of league 3 years ago, and career 33% 3pt shooter, career average 6.3pt, 2.4 REB, 42.7% FG% player. 35 years old?

  • TTNN

I’m wondering whether we could anticipate any changes or improvement on Hornets though.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

He keeps himself active at all time trying to come back to the league and play again. From his record, I haven’t seen any sign of him giving up on playing competitive basketball on the court. He sure has a big heart in the game of basketball.

  • Rick Johnson

How is Kaminski a key player? He’s hardly played and mostly in garbage time

  • TTNN

I don’t think Hornets want that salary, player option next season……

  • TTNN

really? earlier I saw that he was 8pts with 4/4 shooting, so he followed that with 0-10?

  • CJSHYY

I think they maybe wants to tryout both for either starting or more playing time to decide their position or playing time in regular season otherwise they will not send out this tweet.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I really love English because I’m an English teacher. I couldn’t be a very good writer but I still love the language.

  • TTNN

well Lamb against Bull’s Butler too. Very strange…..

  • Rick Johnson
  • Kwok Wai Lai

Just like Ken Berger who wants to tell the world that Hornets should start Jeremy Lamb.

  • TTNN

Same as World Peace though…… and, uh….Lamar Odom too…..

  • Kwok Wai Lai

MIght be even more. He’s a godsend for the Hornets this season while the team is in the mode of win now. Elsewhere and in other time he would have to give way for younger players.

  • TTNN

I don’t know, hopefully he is good, but I’m not sure

  • I am The Jason

I truly believe this team can go 7-3 in their first ten games. I see them splitting games with the Hawks & Bulls. The other lost I see comes from the Spurs. Every other game I see a win for the Hornets. Lets make this happen Buzz City.

  • CJSHYY

I think he will not… now that tweet from Hornets made sense to me.

  • Phillycheese

@peteguelli – I can hook you up with the guy that produces bobbleheads for GSW, LA Angels and other teams. I think his quality is better than the others out there.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

When the impossible comes true, you have to believe in it. Just like less than a few weeks ago that I predicted Zeller would be the Ed Davis for Jeremy Lin in the Hornets in PnR. I predicted that Zeller would be great for Lin this coming season. Even Huang had doubts about Zeller at that time.

  • TTNN

    what tweet?

KMart does not move the ball very quickly and is not a playmaker. Purely one dimensional shooter.

Sorry, Knicks are further from playoffs than Charlotte.

MJ will do anything to gain an edge in Bball and in business. It doesn’t cost him anything to say something positive about JLin. Looks how much return he’s getting.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Gosh! If the key matchup is Lamb against Butler, it’s just like Davis against Goliah. It takes a miracle to make it work.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

That would be a hopeless match!

  • Alain Gervais

The tweet don’t mention a lot of players also both kemba and lamb have not played well so far offensively. Its the preseason which is all about evaluating. A non mention is probably a good thing. Basically it says your doing good we will see come the season. i

He will its just a bit of a flu. Look at how lin puts the virus with jet lag as if they are the same. If he was really sick he would say my head hurt or a bunch of things.

  • John Lee

    Precisely.

Playing in weakened state reduces focus and could potentially lead to injury. Totally not worth the risk.

  • Alain Gervais

    why??

  • leeda harun

better not play tomorrow. Take a lot of rest, drink more water and medicine. I wonder if it is true that everyone got sick when travelling to China…hmmmm

  • Curious

It is scientifically proven that athletes are more likely to get sick after long-haul trips: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22875910

  • Whitman Lam

It’s very easy to catch the flu on a plane, it’s an enclosed place with many sick people, and the air is recirculated over and over picking up more viruses each time.

Get well soon JLin ! I want to see you beat your former team the Knicks !

  • Whitman Lam

P.J. Tucker, Evan Fournier, or Ben Maclemore would be better.

  • GoodDayLA

horrific idea to go for k Martin. He actually HATES Jlin and thinks Lin is a joke. His trainer goes on true hoop and MOCKED Lin during Linsanity.

    NO.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

My wish is to see Tyler, Damien Wilkins, Spencer Hawes and Big Al, Batum, Zeller and MW, Roberts and Kemba, play a lot of minutes in this coming game.
Lin should just take a rest. There is nothing more for him to prove for the time being.
Yeah, players like Harrison, Hairston, Daniels, Elliot Williams haven’t been playing. I don’t think they figure much in regular season anyway. Jeremy Lamb is still a project, a long termed project.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I anticipate coach Cliford to add to the depth of the roster and remove the irrelvant pieces。
Stick to the guns to win now. Don’t go back on development or long term project which is contradictory to what they are doing. Stay only with those who could provide immediate contribution to the team; veterans or rookies alike. May the Hornets have a great season. They will have plenty of time to think otherwise after this.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    How deep is the Hornets?
    PGs: Walker, Lin, Roberts
SGs: Batum, Lin, Damien Wilkins, Lamb
    SFs: Batum, Zeller, MW
    PFs Zeller, MW, Hawes, Tyler
    Centers: Big Al, Hawes, Kaminsky
The rest of the roster don’t figure much in the regular season; ultra long term projects.

  • I wrote an article back on October 6th that said that there’s a chance the Hornets could be better w/o MKG, echoing some of these points Robin brought up. Namely, that Batum gets to play his natural position and Lin gets more minutes (and could likely start as a result). I also said that missing MKG THIS season is totally different than missing MKG last season. THIS season, the Hornets are going to win with their offense, so missing MKG is going to actually help with spacing and allow guys with more offense to get more minutes and bigger roles, etc. In the comments to that article, I went into even more detail about how missing MKG could actually be good for the Hornets. It’s all here if you wanna check it out: http://www.jeremylintel.com/2015/10/06/theres-a-good-chance-jeremy-lin-starts-due-to-injury-to-michael-kidd-gilchrist/

  • real-dsb

I’d like Lin to get time against other team’s first unit. Maybe 20 mins, then sit out.

  • real-dsb

  • I wish Robin had an even more visible role. He should be an analyst on TV for ESPN or something, because most of the analysts on TV suck. He’s one of the few analysts who are actually perceptive. My first intro to Robin was when he talked about Lin back in November 2013. I couldn’t believe that there was someone somewhat high profile who actually understood Lin’s game. I actually made a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pravVuVR-ao

  • real-dsb

Wow, you weren’t kidding. Looks like random facts taken out of the media guide.

  • real-dsb

It’s key “matchup”, not key player. It’s only because they’re two Top 10 draft picks this year.

  • real-dsb

I do think it’s true that Lin may not be the best defensive matchup against SGs that are 6’7″ or taller and are excellent jump shooters, because would be at least 2.5″ taller and be able to shoot over him easily. But most SGs are under 6’7″, so Lin would have no problem guarding them.

  • real-dsb

    LOL

  • real-dsb

I think you misread it (or there was typo). It was probably 8 pts with 4-14 shooting.

    EVAN HABEEB/USA TODAY SPORTS
Yesterday, it was a look at the toughest players in the NBA. Now Charley Rosen looks at the other end of the spectrum and gives his softest players in the NBA.

If all softees are finesse players, not all finesse players are softees, e.g., Pau Gasol and Kevin Garnett. But the following players generally avoid contact whenever possible and try to run circle-routes around the most notorious of the league’s tough guys.

ANDREA BARGNANI – Bump him and he’s got a boo-boo. When he trips over the foul line he winds up on the injured list.

CHRIS BOSH – Shuns contact as though his opponent has leprosy. A powerless power forward.

VINCE CARTER – Watch how many fadeaway junk-shots he takes when approaching a crowd of hostile big men.

SAMUEL DALEMBERT – Plays like his body is made of papier mache.

KEVIN DURANT – If he was tougher/stronger, he’d be one of the best basketball players in the history of Western Civilization.

MIKE DUNLEAVY – Will undertake long detours to avoid being banged, but has to play soft because he’s so physically weak.

CHANNING FRYE — Rarely ventures below the three-point line, and when he does his offense consists of a variety of fadeaway jumpers.

SPENCER HAWES – Season after season, he’s increasingly become a seven-footer who plays like a guard.

ROY HIBBERT – A leansome, elongated version of the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

DWIGHT HOWARD – Yeah, yeah, he’s got muscles on his muscles and sports a belligerent game face, but he’s not the banger he appears to be. When was the last time he bullied an opponent in the low post? How many of his rebounds are marginally contested and/or uncontested? If he ever used his strength to maximum advantage, Dwight Howard might some day win a championship.

SHANE LARKIN – Claims he’s a screen/roll guy, but will do anything to keep his distance from heavy traffic.

JEREMY LIN – When he drives the ball into the paint (especially going left), he will stop, fake and re-fake in the hopes that all the big men have stopped jumping. But he’ll never initiate contact.

KEVIN MARTIN – Would rather put up a flipper than try to dunk over or through a nasty big man.

NAZR MOHAMMED – Runs the break and shoots mostly pull-ups so that the big muscle-men can’t catch him.

STEVE NOVAK – His idea of being tough is to take a charge.

RICKY RUBIO – Don’t touch him and he won’t touch you

Why so few on this list? Simply because, when you come down to it, NBA action is all about body-to-body confrontations — and guys who are unable to fulfill the job requirements have to be extremely talented (or have some other kind of transcendent skill) to survive. Which a select few have indeed accomplished..

The NBA’s all-time Mister Softee Hall of Shame includes Keith Van Horn, Shawn Bradley, Ed Macauley and Reggie Miller.

Lamb’s start in Shenzhen must’ve left quite an “impression”…

  • John Lee

Give him a break, he’s no more than 3.5 years behind. 😉

  • John Lee

It’s a f*ing disgrace that the likes of SAS and MLH get more airtime and attention than Robin.

  • CJSHYY

From the news, I guess Lin will be 2nd unit PG. I really think he likes to be PG more than SG.

SHOOTING GUARD OPENING: Clifford is set on four of his five starters with Walker, Batum, Zeller and Jefferson. He hasn’t figured out who’ll start at the shooting guard spot. Lin, Lamb and P.J. Hairston are all options there. Lin is looking to jumpstart his career in Charlotte, and has looked good in the preseason playing games in China. But Clifford also likes the idea of Lin coming off the bench as a second-team point guard. “He can play both positions, which is an advantage,” Clifford said.

  • Alain Gervais

zeller won’t work without lin. but anyway lin should finish 2nd and fourth. maybe not in preseason. he did say he would try other rotation.

  • John Lee

To be honest, I can see Clifford’s point. Batum doesn’t need Lin to be productive, and Kemba and big Al’s style don’t really mesh that well with Lin’s. Lin does best orchestrating with Zeller and the other bigs. So my guess is that Clifford is hoping to have starting lineup at least match opponents first squad, while having 2nd squad under Lin’s command to DESTROY opponents bench, putting pressure on their starting lineup.

EDIT: Lest some read in a rush and misunderstand, I’m spelling it out explicitly: I want Lin to start, as PG, NOW.

But the reality is, team is taking Kemba’s feelings, and most importantly his contract, into account. Team morale, chemistry, politics, and players psyche, are all in constant flux and a dynamic balance needs to be maintained. I’m just content that it is evident that Clifford has Jeremy’s best interest in mind, but at the same time understand he has other duties, not to mention people to report to.

  • Alain Gervais

he is trying other lineups. the idea you need lin for the bench is ridiculous. how much teams have a really good back up pg????

  • CJSHYY

Haha! You should tell him either on tweet or FB.

  • John Lee

Chillax man, I’m just trying to guess what Clifford may be thinking. I don’t need Lin for the bench, Clifford may. He knows Lin’s better than Kemba, but the team politics, harmony and chemistry also need to be taken into account, which is I meant by “I can see his point”.

This is not tennis or golf. If anything, we’ve all learned how team politics work in the last three years, there’s a time and a method for things to get done.

  • CJSHYY

I don’t get why just let Lin starts as SG but off early then lead 2nd unit as PG?!

  • John Lee

I don’t know, could be a simple answer, like Lin has the flu. Or it could be something more complicated that we’re not privy of.

  • John Lee

Sperms get replaced in a week or so. Somehow I doubt Lin’s planning on creating offsprings in the next week or so. No need for concern.

  • CJSHYY

Not today’s game I mean for the regular season? But I read somewhere said this coach didn’t like to change lineup… So he probably prefer if you are SG then you are SG?

  • John Lee

From what I’ve seen so far, Clifford is the real deal in terms of coaching. I’m not too concerned as regular season hasn’t even started yet, and many things are still in flux. Clifford, unlike McHale and BS, is able, willing, and has shown competence in making in-game adjustments. So who knows, depending on matchups, he may use Lin as PG, SG, or combo guard.

  • CJSHYY

That’s what I thought, Clifford wants Lin to start as SG (he said so since summer… they could be like GSW backcourt….) But Lin wants to be PG more… He said in his post game interview in China, w 1st unit, he has to behind Al, Kemba (just like Lance last season) not in charge the ball… So…. I still think this starting SG position it’s not as attractive as PG to him.

  • Alain Gervais

i understand its just 3 year man…3 whole years of we need lin for bench…..smh

  • John Lee

Totally fair. I am more concerned with Jeremy being given the chance to showcase his stellar PG skills rather than yet another SG that the league is over-saturated with. League needs more Nash-like players.

  • JW

If Lin is not feeling well, no reason why not let him rest. Coach needs to see who’s left and who he will keep at the start of regular season.

There’s 4 preseason games left and they will have to let 6 people go by then. I think they can keep 1 or 2 in D-league. Not sure if MKG’s spot is considered open or not since he’s pretty much out for whole season.

    So likely people on the list maybe: J Washburn(C), E. William(SG), S Thompson(SF), A. Harrison(SG), T Daniel(SG), D Wilkin(SG), P Hairston(SG), T Hansbrough(PF)

  • Alain Gervais

just asking do they think zeller after 1 year got really good or its lin getting him in spots to thrive. just asking?

  • John Lee

Trust me, I share your pain, if not more so. At one point it really affected my mood in the house. Jeremy’s in a better situation now, we should rejoice and heal. In the last four games Clifford has given us zero reason to doubt his promise to Jeremy, so I say we all take a much deserved break and just lay back, relax, and enjoy. Cheers.

  • CJSHYY

I agree w Nash-like player bc I guess Lin didn’t want to be just CnS. He wants to practice his PG skill & I really think Hornets still one year deal to him. Otherwise he will not mind be a backup PG bc he wants to start… but not as SG just be a shooter only.

  • TTNN

    both

  • John Lee

Quick change of subject, who do you guys think will get cut from the team? Currently there are 19 players listed, so assuming Hornets got a waiver for MKG’s injury, they still have to cut three players, right?

  • Alain Gervais

    troy daniels and pj hairston

  • John Lee

Really? How about Harrison, Thompson and Elliott Williams, they any good?

  • David Kim

    What do you guys think?
    1) Lin should start as SG
    2) Lin should back up as PG and finish in 4th QT
Please click upvote if You think Lin should start as SG.
I just want to know your opinions nothing serious.

  • CJSHYY

Daniels? Why? I don’t know who is PJ?

  • JW

I agree with you on how coach may wants Lin coming off the bench. There are many factors that coach has to consider. We may not agree, but we don’t have a say in the decision.

I think it’s good for that article on the coach not knowing yet who he wants for starting SG came out now. People here are so pumped up after the last game that Lin is the starter for sure. When the season starts and Lin doesn’t start, people will be screaming why and that the coach doesn’t know what he’s doing because people’s mind are already set that Lin will be starting.

  • John Lee

The guy that Jeremy kept trying to feed to in the Magic game.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2594816/p.j.-hairston

  • Alain Gervais

he has played so called 6th man. what happen every time??? if he plays well the starter come back in and finish the game. if the starter play well they still finish games. only time he finish the game is if they need him. minutes flatchuate for 6th man. i hate that role

  • CJSHYY

    Thanks.

  • TTNN

I think Lin start is easier to arrange his time. He start or not, he will play enough SG minutes with Kemba, start only put his with Kemba time at the beginning of the game.

  • Alain Gervais

i think coach said he likes 9 man rotation anyways

  • John Lee

Heh heh heh, Clifford may be playing the crowd and testing the waters. If he gets a backlash from fans objecting to his “not starting” Lin at SG, then that’d be his justification for doing something that he secretly meant to do in the first place. Heck, it may even give him the ticket to run dual-PG with Kemba and Lin, something he’s mentioned on more than one occasion.

  • John Lee

The bench is deep, though mainly crowded with the bigs, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he regularly goes with 9. Or even 10.

  • JW

I listed some a couple post lower. I thought they have to get down to 13 players though. My list of who might be cut since they haven’t played much are:

    J Washburn(C), E. William(SG), S Thompson(SF), A. Harrison(SG), T Daniel(SG), D Wilkin(SG), P Hairston(SG), T Hansbrough(PF)

  • John Lee

Oh no, not Hansbrough! Rich “KHuang” Cho would certainly NOT approve. LOL

  • JW

I think 99% here will be 1. It’s that coach may think otherwise. So in reality, it may be 2.

  • Alain Gervais

    kaminsky as the 10

  • John Lee

Hahaha, you seen his footwork in Shanghai, right?

  • JW

He just hasn’t got much playing time. That’s why I have him on the list.

  • TTNN

I think Thompson and Williams for sure. Also Jason Washburn. I think they will cut Arron Hairrson or Wilkins, one of them to keep roster at 14.

  • John Lee

I always thought the max was 15.

  • TTNN

    No way they cut Hansbrough.

  • JW

I’m all for that. I think those 2 will work great together for sure. I think Lin and Brian is fine, but I think Brian is doing so well is also because the other team is more concern about Lin.

  • JW

this is what popped up on a quick search. came from wikipedia:

A team may have a maximum of 13 players on its active roster. At least eight players must suit up for every game. Any remaining players are placed in the Inactive List, and cannot play in games.

  • Alain Gervais

    no???

  • Alain Gervais

    ohh the dancing lol yes

  • Michael

    Quite a depression.

  • Michael

    Light years.

  • jlim7

Max 15, when game time only 13 allowed, so usually 2 others assigned to dleague or just not active.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

JLin did participate in the shoot around.
    https://twitter.com/rick_bonnell/status/655403771992915968

  • John Lee

    Yup, that’s what I meant.

  • Tommy

the knicks werent gonna make the playoffs
and the player they signed off waiver led them to the playoffs
yah how often does that happen?
if it happened a lot, it wouldnt have been a big deal back then

  • CJSHYY

    ? Play or not?

  • Arsenium12 .
  • TTNN

    looks like he will play……

    won’t play long minutes anyway

  • CJSHYY

If so then I prefer he is not playing.

  • Brent Yen

    Should I get one…

  • jlim7

Wait for at least 5 regular season games. If Clifford keeps his promise, then buy.

  • Alain Gervais

he will play regular minutes. meaning the most in the team lol

  • John Lee

Where (online) should I buy from so that only Hornets get my money? I’m in Asia so buying from their TWC arena is out of the question, but I don’t want the entire league to split the money.

  • Acbc

    Quite a limp-pression. Lol

  • TTNN

    why? I don’t think that matter much…..

  • Rick Johnson

JLin usually plays well against the Knicks. I’d like to see him dismantle them.

  • Acbc

    Lol, preemptive correction, nice

  • spiderman

To play or not to play, that is the question

  • TTNN

I think Lin need an orange color jersey to get his complete rainbow color now. You might want to start collecting……

  • Rick Johnson
  • David Kim

During Linsanity, I was trying to buy 3 t-shirts(2 for my friends) for the game at MSG, I contacted 5 models store but all sold out. There were some t shirt left at 6th models I contacted. It was so hard to get it. In online store, I had to wait around 3 weeks to get it.

  • Michael

My birthday is coming up so you should know what to do.

  • wu kong

I think jlin plays very little in this game. he has proven himself Now it is time to see what Lamb has… it is preseason .. don’t get bent out of shape as the coach tries stuff out… I would be very happy to see Jlin get more rest right after the long grueling trip to China. injuries more likely when your body is tired.

  • John Lee

We’re all still waiting for the Hornets #7 pillow case / bed sheet set to be released.

  • Alain Gervais

he either doesn’t play or plays his regular minutes

  • Rick Johnson

I’d like to see Lin trash Melo and the Knicks, then he can rest the rest of the preseason.

  • real-dsb

    Hornets or DOTA?

  • real-dsb

Most likely these 3 since they are just training camp invites. And pretty much have no guaranteed contract to forfeit (except for Eliot $70K, but that’s pocket change.)

    Eliot Williams
    Sam Thompson
    Jason Washburn

I think Aaron Harrison will be designated to D-League to develop. (He will be on the inactive roster though).

This links shows camp invites separately:
    http://www.spotrac.com/nba/charlotte-hornets/cap/

    Shows guaranteed contracts.
    http://www.spotrac.com/nba/charlotte-hornets/

  • real-dsb

They can keep 15 players, and probably 16 due to MKG injury hardship. So only need to cut 3 players.

You’re talking about the active roster, which is 12-13 per game with 2-3 inactive or assigned to D-League

  • real-dsb

Just take a deep breath and ignore it.

This is just yet another writer trying to stir up controversy and clicks. Much like all the arbitrary “rankings” articles that you see all the time. Get people mad so they drive up the clicks and start commenting wars (more clicks).

  • CJSHYY

    Not sure Melo will play?

  • Rick Johnson

He played yesterday. Not sure if he will play today.

  • blueCypher

We’ll know soon enough , my guess is he won’t play

  • Tommy

If the starters(or core players) play big minutes and Lin should too. if not, we know he isnt getting a lot of minutes to start the season. Either way well see where Lin stands

  • Sophie Paris

    I’m thinking getting one too

  • Tommy

they will split the money either way
    whats wrong with it lol

  • CJSHYY

I read somewhere said Melo maybe will not play today…?

  • blueCypher

OT: Is there an extension for Google Chrome that allows you to download youtube videos, the ones I have found don’t work

  • Rzo Vlade

why not switch to firefox and download the video………..youtube own by google expecxt privacy and copyright protected

  • Tommy

    1) he will probably be the first one to get subbed because they wanna develop lamb and not sure if he will be put back in early in the 2nd/4th my guess is probably not so 30 mins at most, more like first year houston PT wise
    2) he will be inserted early in first or subbed out late in 2nd 26-28mins I’d say, 2nd year houston PTwise
but realistically prolly 2) to start the season

  • GoodDayLA

Clifford said he is not starting Lamb probably & I believe him.

Politics at the NbA level are always central. We do not know if the front office is open to starting Lin. Besides his low salary, Lin is also supoosedly unproven, asian, short for a 2, and all this other stuff.

Starting Lin also puts him into the face of franchise role even if they try to squash his productivity and from all accounts, i dont think this team necessarily wants lin to be the face, even for 1 season at the expense of burning bridges across the roster and management.

Charlotte has a lot of cap space for summer and they will be trying to chase stars more likely than keep their own this summer.

If Lin does not start, i will suspect it has more to do with the front office saying no than Clifford being against it. Especially if Lin closes games at PG over kemba. Then u know management made the call not to allow Lin to start in that scenario

  • joyce ward

I think Clifford wants Lin in the starting to help Batum off set some of kemba’s deficiencies. I think Clifford/ MJ management are very pleased from what they are seeing from lin. I love how Clifford said very matter of factually that can play well with starters and bench. Also I think lin is settling into SG role because he is more confident with his shot. I think Clifford sees that lin as that X factor the Hornets. Stephenson didn’t embrace the roll I think Clifford/ Silas are doing a great job in expanding lin’s skill set.

  • Alain Gervais

    mavs 11 is laughable

  • joyce ward

Charlotte is small town USA. So nobody in the NBA has eyes right on Charlotte. I think Clifford/MJ wants the eastern version of the Spurs/Warriors were they kind of develop their players. They don’t want superstar egos on this team. Lance Stephenson killed that vibe. Also Clifford is the most underrated coach in the league.

  • Rzo Vlade

yeah when I saw mavs there …..WTH

  • joyce ward

Mavs will be a tanking team this season. Parsons/Matthews are very far away on their healing processes after surgery.

  • Rzo Vlade

BUZZ brothers? they are speedy so BUZZING

  • putting game definitely needs a lot of faith :]
I still need to work a lot to improve on all aspects of the game

  • 1mtoldman

john jenkins (who?) matthews replacement has been one of two (knick derrick williams the other) “unknowns” tearing up pre-season. both in top 10 in pre season scoring. (small sample size).

  • 1mtoldman

regarding knicks preseason: derrick williams (former high draft pick having done zip 2 date in nba) has been tearing up preseason (a top 10 ppg perseason scorer).

williams also has (imo) the 2nd best (to lin) new hairstyle in the league.

along with the melo one these two accounting for most of knicks offense.

tho some have mentioned rookie grant as looking good (is he a rookie or is that his brother?)–anyway he hasn’t actually produced much of anything in pre-season would assume comments are based just more on his projected “athleticism”.

acutally the knicks back court is pretty much barren, old retread sasha v. has been closing games; and also the knicks have only 3 games against nba teams. so hornets (with now after last nite) atl. are the only (2) teams 4-0 against “real” (ie nba) opponents.

further: only charlotte top 10 in both offense and defense (points scored/points allowed) and the largest point differential by a mile.

  • new game thread is now open
    http://www.jlinportal.com/preseason5-nyk-cha-game-thread/

It is still uncertain if Jeremy Lin will play today or not since Lin has caught cold from the China trip. Coach Clifford will continue to experiment with different lineup for the rest of preseason games but it’s comforting to know that JLin has aced his assignments with the 1st and 2nd unit.

Coaches will certainly consider his unique ability to make everyone better in the Hornets system, especially during crunch time in the 4th quarter to win a game. The playmaking of Kemba, JLin and Batum will certainly create unpredictability to keep opposing teams on their heels and help them win a lot of close games.

If JLin plays, let’s hope we see Kemba/Lin/Batum lineup to continue growing their chemistry

  • JAD2456

Read the original article from USA Today, you’ll know that Clifford never implies that he prefers Lin off the bench. He just said he ALSO likes Lin off the bench (means as a starter as well). He thinks Lin plays well in both positions, just as he mentioned in the postgame interview in Shanghai. He hasn’t decided yet if Lin will start as a SG in regular season yet. But that’s definitely a possibility. He’s trying different lineups in preseason.

Chinese reporters often translate and interpret things wrong. And they like to use bold titles to attract views. So they make it sound like Clifford broke his promise. But the fact is Clifford never promised Lin will start. So please just Ignore Chinese news if their sources are from other English articles. They make mistakes a lot of times.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2015/10/16/unselfish-hornets-could-have-more-offensive-punch-in-2015-16/74052596/

  • Steppen03

    Joyce, I agreed.
I think the Front office & coach Cliff have the guts to do whatever is necessary – making JL7 the face of the franchise. However, it did not get to that point – still a long ways to go. They have not won anything yet. There’s nothing to show yet. Wait til the Hornets accomplish this then we have “something” to talk about: a 50+ wins season. Jeremy don’t have to be the “only” face of the franchise – Lin, Kemba, Batum, Big Al – It’s Team basketball. Not me, me, me. Big Al can be a very important piece- run, gun, post-ups, roll…

  • spiderman

    more experimentation as expected

  • Steppen03

Yes, but want that to happen in NY. It’s really Not that big of a deal – blowing out Knicks. Steam rolling over the ROX will be the honey for my buzzes. Going 8-2 or better from the start IS a bigger deal.

  • GoodDayLA

agree big stars don’t want to go to Charlotte. Still we will see how things turn out!

  • JoeTeam

Yes indeed no one is perfect and 10-0 is doable in a season of 82. Me, let’s see if Lin gets his ball. If so, I think it’s above 7.

  • Brent Yen

    LOL….I am still thinking…

  • Sophie Paris

And me I don’t even know wat color I would get. Lol
