Preseason2 Miami Heat vs Brooklyn Nets
After a good team win against the Knicks in their first preseason game (115-107), Brooklyn Nets will face the Heat at home tonight.
Allen Crabbe and Caris LeVert will be out due to sprained ankle for the second straight game. In their absence, the Nets are expected to keep the starting lineup of Jeremy Lin, D’Angelo Russell, DeMarre Carroll, Rondae-Hollis Jefferson, and Timofey Mozgov ed-oesterreichische.at.
Jeremy Lin finished with 8 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 block, 3 turnovers in 21 minutes. He did not shoot well (2-9) but managed a good 3-point shooting (2-5 or 40%). His 2 fingers on the left hand were taped but it is unknown if it bothered his shooting.
In the first quarter, the team looked disjointed in their ball movement trailing 14-22 before closing the quarter at 30-33. In the 2nd and 3rd quarter, the ball moved much better with at least one of Lin and Russell on the floor as the main playmaker.
D’Angelo Russell played very well (19pts/4asts/2rebs/1stl/1blk/1to) in 20 min, tried hard on-ball defense although he still struggled a bit with off-the-ball defense. The most important part is he bought into the system to keep the ball moving in the motion offense.
The Nets also shot well as a team from 3-points (50% or 16-32) with Harris (4-7), Dinwiddie (2-2), Carroll (2-3), Russell (2-4) and Acy (2-4) contributed well.
Heat vs Nets matchup
Miami Heat might provide more challenge as a team with better defense so it will good to see how the Nets respond with their ball movement. We also need to see how Lin/Lo backcourt can play off each other when they are on the court together.
Let’s hope and pray the Nets can build their chemistry playing together in the rest of preseason games and be healthy throughout the season. Let’s go, JLIN!
