    jedi mind trick

  • 1mtoldman

my question is probably a stupid one but ok okc did a lot of trades; i would assume all players traded from okc would not play tonite ie. be already gone and not available but all players traded to okc would not yet play..guess they wouldn’t have time to get there. correct?

and what about tomorrows games? are the traded players available for the slate of games tomorrow for all teams or is not a case by case basis?

  • real-dsb

There’s going to be a lot of shortened rosters because the new team will not want their new player to play for their old team (and risk injury). But then the new team has to go through the physical and other formalities before the new player can play.

  • real-dsb

I can’t believe the Suns traded both Dragic and Thomas away. Wow.

  • CJSHYY

I am so surprised to see Thomas too? Don’t know why? He played well?!

  • real-dsb

Why didn’t they just trade Isaiah away and let Dragic be the “man”?

  • CJSHYY

Money issue I guess… Dragic wants max contract for 20M per year. I guess Sun is not agree on that…

  • Jedi

A Jedi never gets bored talking to himself. Either insane or he entertains himself well.
So I am glad KG and Prince are going back to the cities that made them who they were. Kind of a fairy tale retirement. Shows there are still some loyal and sentimental organizations around.

Edit: Oh good, other ppl are here. LOL

  • 1mtoldman

because dragic made it clear he didn’t want to be there.

  • real-dsb

but I thought it was only because they added Isaiah. And Bledsoe + Isaiah + Goran = not enough ball for Goran. Goran said himself that last year was fine.

  • Jedi

Read in previous thread…someone said that by dangling Thomas around, they made him unhappy too. So better just to clean house.

  • real-dsb

Prigioni is the PERFECT fit for Houston/Harden. Just stand there and wait for a kickout and hit the open 3. Don’t do anything else. LOL

  • CJSHYY

But since Dragic will be out why Thomas too? I guess maybe Bledsoe doesn’t like Thomas either…? So teammates are very important…. Chemistry problem.

  • 1mtoldman

go back and check yesterdays stuff on line quotes. dragic completely bashed the suns said he would not play for them anymore that he didn’t trust them anymore demanded to be traded. they threatened to not trade him just to spite him but i mean brandon knight is better than either dragic or thomas; they cleared the logjam at guard and got a better player but i dont know how knight/bledsoe will work out.

  • CJSHYY

He is better PG than PB even he is a lot older.

  • Grace Nsns

Prigioni for most time has really good RPM stats, the type of player that fits Morey’s model.

  • CJSHYY

Why NYK didn’t want him? Rebuild mode?

  • 1mtoldman

they woulnd’t have gotten rid of thomas too if they didn’t get knight. unless i missed something they got brandon knight; so instead of dragic/thomas/bledsoe; they get knight/bledsoe. which is actually a big upgrade.

my questions is not why phnx got rid of dragic/thomas but why milw. got rid of brandon knight in the middle of a playoff run. and downgraded to the cant shoot turnover machine. mcw

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Very interesting. For the first time, this thread doesn’t show up in my timeline even after I refresh the site.

  • Grace Nsns

    Nothing we can do.

  • 1mtoldman

ha! see i always say that and no one beleives me. now its happening to you too! (but shouldn’t you be down in a bunker somewhere riding the storm out)?

  • leeda harun

Jlin jersey is no7 in china.Kobe is no.1

  • real-dsb

I think there is a cache delay (could be 30+ mins) on the homepage when new posts are created. Unless Psalm does a manual refresh (which he usually does for his own posts).

  • real-dsb

Wrong, Kobe is no. 24. LOL

  • Grace Nsns

Knicks got 2 2nd round picks by dealing him, good for NYK.
Prigioni’ll be gone anyway off-season, Knikcs need young talents badly.

  • 1mtoldman

#24 in your program #1 in your hearts.

  • Jedi

Jlin would be #1 if his fans knew he had found a home.
I didn’t buy his new jersey because I don’t want to buy a new one every year.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Agree. NYK is really full rebuild mode.

  • 1mtoldman

as too what i think of the trades: i think okc made out like bandits. gave up nothing (jacksons points and minutes already usurped by waiters) and got 4 great role players. they dramatically improved their playoff chances. i dont see any other team doing that.

  • real-dsb

Today I learned there is an NBA player called Chu Chu Maduabum!

  • Alaingrvis

so your telling me lakers, knicks, and rox got nothing. what pg is left for them?

  • real-dsb

HOU already has the PG they want: Harden!

  • real-dsb

Knicks got Alexey Shved from HOU, maybe they’ll have him play PG

  • real-dsb

Lakers already have their PG of the future: Jordan Clarkson!

  • Alaingrvis

    not enough

  • leeda harun

The trade news is over…..let us watch which team is a new upgrade team.

  • leeda harun

So kobe is still the GOAT

  • MoominFloren

Oh Garnett is going to retire in MIN, that’s sweet.

I’d be missing McGee in DEN jersey in Shaqtin a fool….

Why traded IT and got Knight? I thought PHX wanted to keep him….

And why why why no Lin ?!?!?! Ok 2 more months and I can stop watching Tankers game

  • real-dsb

the poison pill 3rd year still biting Lin =(

  • real-dsb

Wait, Kendrick Perkins is only 30 years old? Anyone else think he was more like 38?

  • real-dsb

It was also amusing that Miami also had to acquire Zoran Dragic (Goran’s brother). Even JR Smith didn’t make the Cavs take his brother Chris.

  • Brent Yen

I think he should play in DL

  • MoominFloren

Haha you are not the only one.

From ESPN comment, “The most surprising thing in this article is that Perkins is 30, I seriously thought he was 42” 🙂

  • Sophie Paris

    Lol cute first name

  • Sophie Paris

Interesting lets see if some teams get better… But I’m just waiting for Lin to be back on court tbh 😉

  • 1mtoldman

okc got a lot better. they’re allready so happy just to be rid of perkins/jackson they’re blowing out dallas 2nite.

(and got 2/5th of the current det starting lineup plus a top hundred nba player in kanter and a shooting specialist in novak).

why do you do those three letter things i have to guess at? so i can make funny suggestions?

  • Sophie Paris

Okc will go playoffs. Let’s see if phoenix can answer now.

Haha yes I know you are creative :p

  • Sophie Paris

I didn’t even see Zoran play with PHX. I wanted to see him xD

  • 1mtoldman

    the big hurt
    take ball home
    to be harden-ed
    the better half

    tbh:
thats all i got. i actually have no clue what yer going for here tell me please.

“The Fuzhou dialect (福州話, Foochow Romanized: Hók-ciŭ-uâ (help·info)), also known as the Foochow dialect, Hoochew, Fuzhounese (福州語,[3] Hók-ciŭ-ngṳ̄), or Fuzhouhua, is the standard dialect of Min Dong, which is a branch of MinChinese spoken mainly in the eastern part of Fujian Province. Native speakers also call it Bàng-uâ (平話), meaning the language spoken in everyday life. In Singaporeand Malaysia, the language is known as Hokchiu in Min Nan, Hujiu which is the Min Dong pronunciation of Fuzhou.”

  • Sophie Paris

    I hated his goatee lol

  • Rookie75094

Awsome defense by rondo…holding Westbrook to only…. 26 pts end of third…hahaha

  • Rookie75094

What more can you ask of rondo.. he tried as hard as he could… no offense, no defense, no ft,… hehe. … I would not be surprised to see rondo DNP-CD reason: embarrassment.

  • Sophie Paris

    Jlin has the Jedi’s path

  • 1mtoldman

you really dont like rondo much do you? tonite he’s actually only the third best point guard on his team.

  • Rookie75094

    How can you tell?… hehe

  • CJSHYY

Since Rondo traded to Mav… more people saw how overrate he really is…

  • Rookie75094

I actually love rondo…………………the way he stinking it up right now…hahaha

  • Dan Cohen

well, to be fair and non-hypocritical.. he is adjusting to his teammates.. that’s what we would say about lin if that happened to him.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Thanks for the info. I learned how to speak Fuzhouhua when I studied in US. So, not very authentic. All my languages are 半桶水 (Can speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka, FuZhou, English and Malay but understand more).

  • winner
  • JoeTeam

Lin has never had long dry spell like Rondo has while Lin was at NYK, Rox, or LAL. So your pre-amble of “fair and non-hypocritical” already doesn’t make sense, and thus your structured knock on Lin fans also makes no sense. In fact, quite the opposite – Lin was played very sparingly at Knicks and when he got time, he monstered. At Rox, even with jerking around, he had some over 30 games and came back quite a hot shooter 2nd season only to be jerked to the bench and post back-injury. In LAL, he did fine and consistently fine except for I’d say about 2-3 games right after the benching.

  • rookie75094

rondo first game back…result another loss by the mavs… I am loving this… Cuban better wake up and smell the coffee…then go beg Jlin to come to dallas…hahaha

omg its the “up the chute” girl.

  • FrankW

See him for all of 2.2 minutes per game?

  • Promo Sports World

Okc got better with some power chess playing moves…presti might have lost harden for nothing but he got really good pieces

  • kittyhead

Really dont want to watch Lin playing with another ball dominant sg…He has been tortured by this for 3 years….Just like a nightmare…

  • Rookie75094

Watching DeAndre jordan shooting ft is so ugly at 41.4 % ft…. then I look up rondo ft %…26.3% ft….. fugly!!!

  • Rookie75094

The mavs are actually trying to play teamball… probably because of Carlise. … problem is rondo is stinking up the joint

  • steven ko

just get the imitation ones. no need to support the nba propaganda and bias against JLin…

  • Charlie Sun

How does Isaiah Thomas to BOS affect JLin’s chances of landing there?

  • Dan Cohen

1st. My knock wasn’t on Lin, it’s being unbias. I know it’s a lin fan site, but doesn’t stop people from being objective. So my fair and non-hypocritical preamble makes sense on this site. If you are bias to one thing, doesn’t matter if it’s lin or not, you will be somewhat hypocritical.

2nd. So how am I being objective? Check out his per game stats game stats. http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/3026/rajon-rondo

I don’t know what do you mean regarding a long dry spell. Please give specific about details. From that log, he almost has a triple double on 1/25, he stopped playing 1/30 due to injury.. so that (3 games) is not a long dry spell. He has 4 strings of bad games before another good one. Lin had that happening before too, but he is from a bench role.. so can’t compare there. But the point is not about lin. It’s about Rondo. He might be adjusting to his teammates. Simple as that. If it’s 15 strings of bad games.. that’s different.

  • leeda harun

    from chipotle to yogurtland…..lol

  • Dan Cohen

boston has one of the most racist fans.. I heard it’s worst than houston. I personally doesn’t want lin to be there because if he messes up.. tabloids go crazy.

  • leeda harun

celtic is trying to get into playoff…if IT can help them…..thry going to sign him for good..jmo

  • JoeTeam

    tl makes no sense.

  • Dan Cohen

    numbers as evidence please

  • Dan Cohen

he passes better than pb…and more often.

  • Dan Cohen

    I wouldn’t either.

  • KL

The Rockets devalued Lin. The Lakers have done much worse.

For the 2nd half of the season I hope Jeremy plays so well that the team starts winning and they climb out of the bottom 5. Then Scott gets fired since he was only useful for getting that draft pick back from Phoenix. That is one way of getting back at Scott and Kobe. Scott will have to DNP-CD Lin but we should see some media furore if Lin is playing well.

  • Dan Cohen

yeah..that was actually my dream..but I woke up. lol

This can only happen if the 2nd units also buys in and allow lin to run the point AND defy what BS says. 1) Knowing that if lin runs the point, he will not defy what BS says. 2) Swaggy already said lin doesn’t pass much which kind of telling me he is not buying in.

  • KL

I have little respect for Swaggy because he is so immature. I still see Lin achieving something because of his mental strength and faith. He is consistent in overcoming obstacles.

  • blubell
  • KL

How will Lin play in the remainder of the season? It would be good if he could raise his value. If he became a true stat padder, Scott would probably give him playing time since that would lead to overall team selfishness and more losses for tank agenda. Like “Jeremy scored 20 points. Pity we lost but great effort from Jeremy…”

Teamball is just not likely cause the team mates are not buying in.

I expect Lin to try to still play the right way but also look good individually. That is a difficult balance. It is like the D League but Lin has been there before.

  • Jedi

The gold represents a sample of the amount of money they want to steal from the Chinese people.

  • John Lee

Ellis contract expiring…so anything can happen. 🙂

  • blubell
  • Kwok Wai Lai

Miami with addition of Goran Dragic.
    Boston with addition of IT
Detroit gets Reggie Jackson and Tayshaun Prince
Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets remain the same.
It seems that very soon Miami, Boston and Detroit are fighting for 2 playoff spots with Miami leading, Boston and Detroit catching up quickly. The pot thickens!

Too bad Lakers is dwindling to the cellar hopelessly with Byron and Bryant.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • real-dsb

I didn’t think Lin had any chance of ending in Boston even before Thomas was traded there. They already have Marcus Smart, who I believe they’re committing to at least for a few years.

  • real-dsb

how is Lin not an official Chipotle endorser yet? 😀

  • Kwok Wai Lai

OKC with a big man that can score besides Ibaka will really pick up its momentum and oust Phoenix soon.

With Phoenix spent $80m on Eric Bledsoe trying to dominate everything on the team, as well as Goran Dragic and IT were shipped out, the Suns is going to be weakened. The new addition from Milwaukee pale in comparison to Bledsoe for sure. OKC is going to make to the playoff. Phoenix is going to be another winning teams out of the playoff in the West.

I personally believe that offense is the best defense. A good offensive team beat a good defensive team. Mavericks is having problem with Rondo in his offense. Phoenix is going to have problem with Bledsoe as well without Dragic and IT on the offense.

With the addition of Amare Stoudmiere, the Mavericks will be strengthened at the very strong front court but the back court is still questionable with Rondo. It will take the rest of the season to prove to the coach and the owner if Rondo is compatible with them in team chemistry. I still have high hope for Jeremy Lin for the Mavericks. Rondo although compile some good statistics is not at his personal best in running the team. The offense falters instead.

  • Brent Yen

    LOL….

  • Brent Yen

Any depth chart posted somewhere about the new landscape for guards?

  • GoodDayLA

Lin looks like 100 times bigger and stronger in his jersey than in street clothes. You would think it’s the other way around.

  • real-dsb

Hey now, Rondo’s FT% is actually 30.9% for the year. (26.3% is only since Dallas). Don’t shortchange him!

But wow, Rondo would literally shoot better if he stepped back to the 3 pt line on his FTs (32.3% from 3pt)!

  • Brent Yen

to bad the rules does not allow that..

  • GoodDayLA

I dont think Lin will have more than 2 or 3 teams interested in his services this summer. But we just need 1!!!!!!

  • Brent Yen

Seems like 76ers’ team logo will stay on the screen and Adam Silver will have to keep calling 76ers name in this yr’s draft…

  • Brent Yen

For backup job…he will get more than 2 or 3 I believe. BUT INDEED WE JUST NEED 1…

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Morey torn a very good team in pieces to get to what they are. Yet they are still not the favourite in the West. Not a very exciting team to watch. Spurs is losing games in the regular season while their pieces are getting into shape late as usual. At present, Portland and Rockets will play Clippers and Dallas in the first round, Spurs will play the Grizzlies. The playoff will be very exciting with Dallas failing to merge as a team.

  • Linja

I think I lucked out predicted Dragic was going to Miami, now the next guess is Lin to San Antonio as FA. HA.

  • Brent Yen

    Oh yeah!

  • John Lee

    Lin’s best suitable teams…
    1) Spurs
    2) Mavs
    3) Kings? (Karl)

  • Brent Yen

IDK. After this 3 yrs…I tend to think bball style is not important at all…

  • Linja

However, one bad thing is that NBA LP blacks out SA games in Austin area.

  • Brent Yen

Drive to Dallas and watch it in a Starbucks..LOL

  • Brent Yen

LAL’s game is not worth watching, but I just wanna see some Lin action. This break it good for Lin, but too long for his fan.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Once Lin becomes the free agent, he will be sought after immediately by many teams. A player survived under poor coaching will bloom at the right time. Lin is still young in his PG career and his experience will help lots of team at a very attractive price tag. Contenders with Lin immediately will become a sensational team attracting lots of attention in the league.

Lin would be a great fit for offensive minded teams like Dallas, San Antonio, Pelicans, Milwaukee etc.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The playing style of Lakers becomes so boring that his TV rating will dwindles to an unbearable level until Byron Scott get fired. There is essentially no hope and no attraction for the team. Byron Scott would kill all the excitements possible and stir the team to a dismal turmoil piling up unprecedented blow outs.

With so many players not going to come back for the team, this team is taking a free fall.

  • linspiredinla

He has life time free Chipolte.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Charles Barkley would have lots more to say about his General Manager who couldn’t turn first round draft choices to capable NBA players.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

JLin will be financially sound after this year.

He would be signed with about $5m a year for 3 or 4 years by some contenders. Teams take calculated risk. The risk of having Lin on the team is minimal but the return could be quick and instantaneous. That is my prediction. Time will tell if I’m right and nothing else could prove me wrong before that.

  • John Lee

Wasn’t even thinking of style, just coaches that may give Lin a fair shake…in any style.

  • MoominFloren

The background music is so loud that hardly to hear his words….

  • JoeTeam

You are being disengenous. You changed your original post, and now you’ve set it up so later you will claim that you said something and proved me wrong with stats and I continue to be wrong and you are right.

    Here’s what you said:

“to be fair and non-hypocritica” sorta like me (Dan Cohen) – to establish ethos so people are forced to believe in your credibility.

Then blah blah blah (insert wrong narrative about Lin)

Then you knocked Lin fans because they are not ‘fair and non-hypocritical”

I called you out on is and to this count, there are 16 here who agree with me.

Then you quoted a bunch of numbers (to establish how right your false rhetorical construct was.)

Then I said TL, no sense again. because it’s the if-then statement that you made that is false. That is, you haven’t proven to me you are fair and non-hypocirical, and that ‘proof’ didn’t fool me into believing your false narrative. So, why should I even consider your numbers given I can dig up thousands of stats on Lin, Rondo too.

Then you changed your original post and asked me to quote stats.

Later, you will say I disagreed but could not refute your stats. You’ve done this before. You also got banned here before and you continue to write how unfairly you were treated by the Mod and yet, I saw those posts and you are banned fairly.

Some piece of work you did, especially when you change your OP so you can do the later thing. I got you the first time bro, and numbers have nothing to do with what you are doing here on the boards.

FYI, I am quite a good statistician for ppl like Ten Ten, Kenoshi, KHuang, Brent, Psalm, JW, etc who are not using false narratives for a discussion forum, to sling disdainful knocks on Lin and Lin fans.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I agree he is not being fair in making changes in his postings like that.

  • JoeTeam

Thank you Kwok. It’s ok to post opinions, but this is a disingenuous set of postings and chaining the whole post context that wasn’t originally quoted is part of the game. Thanks for witnessing it for me. One can only just keep a clear mind.

Dan Cohen, I’d be happy to thread with you on genuine opinions, agree or not.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Swaggy is a black hole in the offense not a bit better than Kobe.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I guess he should respond to your response instead of changing his original posting.
We make changes to our posting but most often is before people respond. The changes should be addition rather than amendment.

  • blubell
  • Kwok Wai Lai

$80m investment of Eric Bledsoe is the reason!
Goran Dragic is a proven PG and he’s not going to have Bledsoe pushed him around.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Perhaps IT also wants out with Bledsoe there.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Dragic doesn’t have problem with IT at all.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Not after they spent $80m on Eric Bledsoe.
    Dragic wants to top that!

I guess Beverly center is located in Beverly Hill and is absolutely unrelated to Patrick Beverley. Well just the thought!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Of course, it’s unrelated:-)

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Patrick Beverley is going to be in trouble sharing the minutes with him.

  • BTW, I just added the Members Poll for Game 54 vs Brooklyn Nets.
    Let’s go, JLin!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Without Lin playing a significant role on the team, the TV rating will take a free fall. What do you think the FO will do to Byron Scott.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Thanks! Did wonder whether u are going to create another new thread:-)

  • nah, this is good for PreGame thread until tomorrow :]
    14pts/8asts from a rejuvenated Jeremy!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The shackling of Lin will continue but there are only two months at most before the season ends.

  • BuzzerBeater

Was just watching Mid-season Shaqtin a fool Awards on NBATV and Jeremy was on it when the ball slipped out of his hands (he didnt win though lol).

I cant tell if it was Dennis Scott or Funkmaster Flex that genuinely said they liked Jeremy when they were showing the video. I gotta figure out who it was cuz anyone that likes Jeremy I will automatically like by default, heh.

  • yes, I believe a recharged Lin will play his aggressive game to an Anti-Tank thorn in Byron’s flesh!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL Continue my 15pts/5asts JLin journey.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The pendulum strikes back; sort of.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I don’t like Patrick Beverley and his style of basketball.

  • linspiredinla

From Jeff Zillgitt USA Sports :Thursday’s flurry of trades illustrated the saturation of talented point guards in the league, and teams understand point guards can be had at various price points during the season and between seasons.”

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • JLin Fan from Australia

Agree. Plus I don’t like the way he “treats” JLin after JLin was traded. Have no sympathy of the treatment he receives now. He reaps what he sows.

I think Rondo is a very costly investment/experiment for Dallas. If it doesn’t work out, they have to leave Rondo go away with nothing in return. Mark Cuban is determined to make it work but he doesn’t often make good basketball decision. It’s up to the management to tell the owner what’s best for the team. Rondo hasn’t fit into the team and it’s a fact.

Dallas should try to sign Monta Ellis, the most versatile and potent scorer that has worked well with Dirk. Tyson Chandler should be able to give some discount to the team after this season. Delvin Harris will stay with the team, J J Barea played so well this season, he might be paid more than the vet minimum. Dallas has cap room to play with.

Jeremy Lin will add life into the Dallas team. Raymond Felton is going to exercise his player option next season and Mark Cuban might need to buy him out.

  • Maknusia

Hope he will have a blast game…I’m gonna miss next couple of games, due to travel…wont be able to watch game 🙁

Funny that we always think of the Texas connection for Jeremy! There are in fact 30 teams in NBA.

  • Dan Cohen

What are you talking about??? I NEVER CHANGED MY ORIGINAL POST.. I never edited it. Your interpretation was WRONG in the first place.. every thought about that. The original pre-amble is aimed at people who are bias in the first place (and bias because this site is a lin fan site with many who worships lin). I’m a lin fan too and because of that I”M fully aware that I can be bias and therefore that preamble was aimed at EVERYONE including me. Some people who are lin fans might not be aware of that because they never really look on the other side and if they did, it’s with prejudice too, especially on this site. Sorry, but you cannot argue with me that bias people are 100% fair, bc that’s common sense. I don’t care about 16 people agreeing with you.. agreeing and disagreeing are based on opinions especially on this site, which is not 100% objective. If praise lin like no other on this site, 10000 people will agree with you. If you go to a christian site and praise lord, same thing.

The argument is about rondo might be adjusting him game. I put up numbers already about that.. not numbers of vote about agreeing with you or not. 3 or 4 strings of bad games is NOT A LONG DRY SPELL.

If you take away that preamble, it’s still saying rondo might be adjusting his game, In fact, again the pre-amble was never about me, because I notice people in the past and now are bashing on other players without consideration of something else and then when they bash on lin, they defend him tirelessly. If whatever happen to rondo right now happened to lin, you will definitely be the first one to say he is adjusting or being exposed… yes, I’m saying you are 100% bias about lin. Straight arrow at you.

Similar thing with pb winning the skills challenge. I was the first one to say pb LUCKED OUT because of the getting the 3 point shot in. But some can say he is clutch. But some lin fans will say he lucked out. To me skills challenge is a big element of luck in there. Now if Lin won the skills challenged like that, I will guarantee you that everyone here will say he is super clutch and stuff. See the hypocrisy. But I will still say he lucked out..and if I said something like that here, someone will probably be attacking me how can he lucked out.. it’s last minute.etc, blah.

  • Dan Cohen

I wasn’t making changes at all, when did you see me edit it? It was his wrong interpretation in the first place.

  • Dan Cohen

But that is a genuine opinion.. rondo might be adjusting to his game! Oh and you know what, he came back from injury.. that was his first game after injury, so I will say the same that most people will say for lin, maybe he is warming up. it’s only the first game after injury. I think you are taking the whole pre-amble thing out of context.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This stage of Lin’s career is back to the underdog phase; the phase before Linsanity but he’s technically much better prepared for his future.

  • grover chang

Breaking news. Chris Bosh diagnosed with Blood clots in his lungs. Will miss the rest of the Season. I Just heard it on NBA Radio. Always thought Bosh seemed cool, pray he is okay.

  • grover chang

I also heard on NBA Radio an interview with former Garnett teammate Tom Gugliotta. He said before he got to the timberwolves he was on a lot of bad teams and picked up bad habits. Looking out for himself and being selfish. He learned from vets Sam Mitchell and Terry Porter to think about the team and play winning basketball. That made me respect Lin even more, players still work hard on bad teams, but Lin is trying to keep his mind right and play basketball the right way with a team mindset eventhough it is natural to go the opposite direction when you are tanking. (I do still feel like he needs to drive more to open the court for his team though).

  • JLin Fan from Australia

That is one very serious medical condition. Not sure he is allowed to play bb anymore.

  • grover chang

True, if he has a disease and has to be on blood thinners the rest of his life then he can’t get back on the court. Rockets got lucky.

  • I think it was Funkmaster Flex who said he genuinely likes Lin.. It makes sense since he’s from NYC and a lot of people there still have great memories from Linsanity.

    Here’s the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBlTo4znSZU

The NBA knows that most Lin fans hate the Rockets so they chose to locked out clutch the beard. It would be very nice if they locked out the other beard too.

  • John Lee

I think the Bull in / Bear out had more to do with the stock market, but it could’ve been both that and the Rox hate.

  • Grace Nsns

This happened to other players before, it’s season -ending condition, but not really career ending I think.

  • Grace Nsns

it’s conformed? too bad, feel for him.

  • How will Jeremy plan to achieve his 2 goals in the 2nd half tonight?
    1. cutting down TOs
    2. Efficient playmaking including finishing at the rim

I’m curious to find out if Jeremy has a different approach in tonight’s game.
It seemed like a well-thought out plan that Lin has pondered during the break in how his 2nd half will help his upcoming FA.

My guess or my hope is Lin will attempt to be a score-first/pass second player to avoid over-facilitating that may lead to sloppy passes and TOs. If he makes himself a scoring threat by driving and finishing efficiently, defense will collapse on him and he can easily pass to other players for dunks or wide-open shots.

A Series of Unfortunate Lakers Events – Part 4

    Chapter 0: The Beginning

A cluster of dark clouds hovers over Los Angeles, a great city once favored by basketball God with decades of glory and championships. It is a typical day in a South Cali summer. Not so typical with the scene though as if winter is coming, thought Jones, the sole owner of barbershop minutes away from Lakers front office.

Jones has witnessed the rise and shine of Lakers pride since he inherited this barbershop from his father 40 years ago. Jones has been the off-court barber for Lakers when a last minute trim is needed. And because of his amicable trait, Jones has befriended with many Lakers icons: Johnson, Jabbar, Worthy, to name a few.

Winter is coming. To Jones, it is not a phrase from the fictional GOT. It is a reality, a curse. 40 years of long summer already ended. In his mind, Lakers’ future looks bleaker ad bleaker by the year and it seems that a long long winter has just embarked.

A ring came from the door bell, entered a tall figure with a striking smile, more like a smirk, Jones observed. He knows the man with the apparent resentment, not because the man’s reputation as a NBA coach, but as a man with his integrity, or so the lack of.

“Hey, Mr. Scott, it has been a long time”, Jones greeted falteringly.
    “Hi, Tom. How are you?”
“I am good. What brings you to my humble shop?”
“I was nearby. Just felt like spending. And your shop came to my mind.”
“What fortune has landed on you, Mr. Scott?
“Got a big gig from the Lakers.”

Oh, NO. Jones speculated. Not him. Please, not him.

“Just signed a 4 years contract with the Lakers. Yes, I am the head coach of the Lakers as of now.”
“Congratulations!” Jones with automatic and innocent reply.
“Thanks. Please give me a blunt cut, as luxurious as possible. Big tip will not be spared!”
“Sure.” Jones replied with reflection still dangling with the unthinkable.
Then a tone came to life from Scott’s pocket. Scott answered the phone. Jones could only barely overhear some broken conversations …
“Yes, I got the job. Thank you. I owe you this one. No team will hire me if it wasn’t you.”
A deep but shoddy voice came from the other end of the phone: “Now we are in this together. We have a lot to do.”
“Yes, first order of business, we need to come up with a plan to make you look good on the team.”
“You bet. Coming back from these stupid injuries really hurt my playing. You need to make sure these scrubs don’t outplay me on the court.”
“No problem. I have tones of old schools drills and tricks that can limit their playing. Don’t worry. They will not have anything left. Not just training camp, the regular season too. I will make every game like a B2B if necessary.”
“Good. Now let’s talk about the set. What do you have in mind?”
“The ridiculously convoluted Princeton offense that no one can understand. The beauty of the system is no one can make it work and we can find tones of excuses to blame anybody.”
“Don’t forget the Harvard guy that dropped 38 points on me. He could leverage it to his strength.”
“Don’t forget he is only 2nd string. I can make him 3rd if required. Besides the system needs everyone on the same page, which is not likely for the scrubs we have.”
“How about the annoying point guard that won’t go away? He is a veteran and well respected. How can you make sure he is on the same page? Eventually the ball starts from him.”
“Don’t worry. Given his old body, I will grind him down in the training camp that he will not be a factor. Worse case, I can DNP him.”
“OK, I will leave it to you. Just make sure the ball ends up in my hands no matter what.”
“Consider it done. I will text you updates.”
    “Good. Got to go.”

    Minutes later …

“Done. Mr. Scott. A nice blunt cut as requested. “
“Great. I look handsome. Oh, boy, I am in a good mood. Anyway, here is the tips.” Scott left with excitement still revealing after the phone call.

“Cheap dog! You call $20 a big tip now that you got a contract of millions?” Jones grumbled. Then he grabbed his cell and dialed.

“Mr. Nash, I wanted to thank you again for setting up my grandson for the soccer summer camp. Yet, I have news for you.”

  • JoeTeam

Ok that’s valid. I just disagree because everybody I talk to who are not Lin fans but bball fans says Rondo has been a bust in Dallas and whatever … it could be Monte is shooting it out like Kobe. I doesn’t matter – Rondo is a bust in Dallas and Lin is not a bust in LAL. Lin in fact leads one of the top 2nd units in the league, at times the best, 2nd team notwithstanding because often they put starters in against him early, etc. Those you cannot fathom in stats, you just know from bball watching.

  • JoeTeam

You did and other ppl witnessed it.

  • Brent Yen

So far Lin hits pulls up 3 at 42.9%…..which is really really good. His biggest set back is his catch and shoot, at 32.3% for 3 and ONLY 25% for midrange.

  • CJSHYY

Dragic I believe that’s what he tried to say….LOL!

  • Brent Yen

I actually think he meant IT too…

  • CJSHYY

Really? I thought IT is OK? Well, Sun sent both out now…

  • Brent Yen

Dragic did exactly what some fans wanted Lin to do…lol….not saying it is good or bad results-wise….just saying. Reggie Jackson did the same thing too.

  • 42.9% for pull up 3 is certainly impressive.
It tells me what we all know that Lin needs to dribble the ball more to “feel the rhythm” and be comfortable with his shooting.

25% for midrange might correspond well to the last-resort shots that he has to take when noone is moving and the clock is winding down. He might want to practice to take earlier shots so the clock running out doesn’t give him more pressure. I noticed CP3 is good in finding space and time to shoot comfortable midrange

  • Rookie75094

I won’t be surprised to see all these selfish pg wannabes crash and burn and exposing themselves to be average and in the end Jlin will emerge as a true star pg who will win games for his team playing the right way

  • JW
  • Rookie75094

Don’t care about the tankers any more. .. I will just watch when ever Jlin is in the game

  • JW

Then it would matter if he’s DNP-CD.

  • Arsenium12 .
  • CJSHYY

Continue the journey to tank… smh! Don’t like to watch the game but…

  • Alaingrvis

a lot of those types of teams will go after lin. playoff contenders in need of a of the bench spark. at the moment idc if he start all lin needs really badly is a good to great coach. he hasn’t had that since dantoni

  • CJSHYY

    I don’t believe this will happen…

  • JW

I’ll keep watching unless it becomes a DNP-CD for sure.

But really wish he can be more selfish and show what he got so he get more offers in the off season.

  • CJSHYY

No need to worry about his stats for this off season… check what he said…” I haven’t focused on it and I’ve refused to talk about it even with my agent. I’m not worried about it.” Los Angeles Daily News” The last sentence– I’m not worried about it. He got some offers from GMs already I think… His stats means nothing now.

  • CJSHYY
  • Grace Nsns

10-14min behind the head of snake, smh
Hill’s back too, wish ED got some quality min with Lin.

  • CJSHYY

I guess they have to bring Lin back to starting lineup but coach & FO still want to tank… they do need Price to do the job for them… LOL! To tell the truth, it’s not really matter now… Just hope Lin keeps healthy to the end of season.

  • Alaingrvis

    it really don’t matter

  • CJSHYY

Totally agree. The game itself sucks. No matter who is w Lin all the same result … the whole team is bad.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

If Clarkson is off the bench at PG, who’s the starter?

  • Alaingrvis

sound like bs has no idea just be prepared for the worse. 3 months to go

  • CJSHYY

Plans to split minutes for Price/Lin.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    as starter(s)?

  • CJSHYY

It’s really no big deal now…. they are tanking so they have to loss…

  • Alaingrvis

    yup

  • If yes, I’d like what the Cavs analyst said about Lin should seek a buyout.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That BS’s comment alone tells us how dumb the man is. Consider: Clarkson off the bench and split minutes between Lin and Price. Do they have another pg we don’t know?

  • It’s interesting that the ESPN Analyst (Brian Windhorst?) knew the real problem that LA is tanking and started Clarkson instead of Lin so he expects Lin to seek a buyout.

Even if it doesn’t happen, NBA/ESPN Analysts knew Lin is being marginalized in LA due to tanking and a bad fit with BScott’s tanking system.

  • JW

I thought Mike Trudell already say Clarkson is starting tonite. So this is for future lineups then.

So if Clarkson is backup, Lin and Price might be either starter or DNP-CD.

I would hate to be someone trying to buy a ticket to watch Lin. You never know what BS will do. Seems like the inconsistency is on BS.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Me too. Lin must sacrifice part of his salary for his future. BS is a cancer for Lin’s BB career.

  • Alaingrvis

    the spirit of dragic

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    lol

  • Charlie Sun

God it feels like the most backhanded compliment ever. Give JLin the starting spot but only play him for like 15 min. Probably means JLin will exclusively play with Hill and Sacre which means no PnR which means he won’t be effective, which will give more fuel for the haters.

  • CJSHYY

They are tanking so they don’t want to win… smh!

  • Charlie Sun

    So… is Davis suddenly DNP?

  • JW

Somebody asked him later and he said Davis will come off the bench. Same for Price.

  • CJSHYY

BS is always BS. So no need to be surprised… I am just counting the days for this season to be end now.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    LOL

  • CJSHYY

Oh! Didn’t pay attention on that until now… Ya! Looks like everyone has to take turn for DNP now bc the team it’s tanking.

  • CJSHYY

I know lots of fans & some reporters hope Lin can play in playoff this season. But I really don’t think Lin wants to have buyout. Look at what he said last night.. ” Now he just wants to concentrate on the remaining 29 games this season , the next game to lay .現在他只想專心在本季剩下的29場比賽,把接下來的比賽打好。”

  • It’s understandable that Lin wants to finish strong with the Lakers so he didn’t waste time in training in the system.

However, if BS further reduces his min despite his effort, he might be forced to at least consider a buyout.
I guess we’ll have to wait to see how Lin’s min play out in the next few games before Mar 1 buyout deadline

  • Brent Yen

Long 2s are bail out shots. Most PG went with that earlier than Lin did…it is a trade off…so…..

  • linspiredinla

Like in Houston: play Lin & PB in tandem.

  • linspiredinla

Matters a great deal to jeremy himself. Huge difference in FA.

  • Brent Yen

Only 29 GMs left and zero trade for lin say it does not matter at this point.

  • Brent Yen

He did not say the remaining 29 games are with lakers….lol

  • Brent Yen

Does this means that same crap alternative starting PG thing?

  • CJSHYY

I think FO wants to bring Lin back to starting lineup but BS doesn’t want to win so he came up w this idea…. That he can control more for sure to loss the game.

  • joyce ward
  • CJSHYY

    Ya! I think it’s 4 games later?!

  • linspiredinla

Yes, it matters to Lin. Said so himself. “Play better, play more. Finish strong.” Even less play time was what I was addressing.

  • Arsenium12 .
  • Chipdip

yes.. did very well to tank so far

  • Brent Yen

He can keep telling himself that….I do not think he believes it himself…

  • CJSHYY

So if Kobe agrees to pay cut that will be OK?! smh! I hope Lin will not stay.. please.

  • JustSayNo2HardensIso

Byron and his staff have done a great job tanking. The “adverse conditions” Mitch is talking about is that fact that they could have won a lot more games so Byron had to work real hard to make sure we lost those such as taking out players like Lin when they were hot.

  • CJSHYY

    Hopeless for this team… smh!

  • Chipdip

I hope Jeremy will not be with the Lakers next season

  • CJSHYY

Me too. I hope he will not really buy the story Lakers tell him…. I like CA but I think Lakers is not the place for Lin to stay…. Please get out.

  • Chipdip

You are right but Mitch did say the same thing using less words… 😉

  • Brent Yen

Those are irrlevent to how many minutes he will get.

  • linspiredinla

Mark Medina ‏@MarkG_Medina 6m6 minutes ago
@linspiredinca @luzyanglin He said it was splitting time + playing together. It’s inevitable Lin plays less since Ronnie was DNP before

  • JustSayNo2HardensIso

As long as Lin is on the team, even if he were to sit on the bench and not play, the Lakers owners still gain something financially due to advertisements etc. What do the Lakers gain buy waiving him or buying him out? Since they are tanking, it’s not like they could use an additional roster spot. If they don’t gain anything, I can’t imagine they would waive him or agree to a buy out.

  • JW

BS did say this yesterday. They just saying nothing is wrong. Everything is as planned.

    https://twitter.com/SerenaWinters/status/568525575754625025

I don’t know why some of you guys believe FO still has Lin’s back.

  • Brent Yen

Or he meant lakers roger sucks…..so Byron had to work real hard

  • linspiredinla

Do you have to be always right?

  • sport

It’s a mindset that JLin needs to change to improve! He needs to be a score first pass second PG to be recognized, especially with all those haters! He still needs to prove he can average 20+ points for an entire season to be considered an all-star! Look at Curry his amazing 3 point scoring ability is exactly why he’s considered the best PG right now over CP3 and DRose!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

The day they fire BS, they would still say how great job BS has done.

  • sport

You sure about that? XD I wanted the Rockets to crash and burn!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That’s was months ago, how about the progress of that plan today?

  • JustSayNo2HardensIso

I am not impressed with Kupchak and the Lakers owners at all. They seem to all be living in the past. For example, the way they recruit players is to constantly talk about what great players they had in the past and how many championships they have won. I’m not sure if current players care that much about the past and how many championships they have had. What they want to know is, “What are you going to help us win now.” I think this is why a lot of the top players have not signed with Lakers.

Even though I hated Daryl Morey, at least he is a stats guy who appreciated the stats of Jeremy. Even though it didn’t work out in Houston, we still have to remember that he was the only one that gave Jeremy a good offer after Linsanity. Obviously that all changed when Harden was traded.

Would love to see Jeremy on a modern team with a modern coach next season.

  • JW

They are 4th from bottom. They are on track to keeping the pick. Why would they need to make any changes.

  • Grace Nsns

He sounded like Lin’s on the same level of Price competing for min, bs

  • sport

Clarkson did have to split minutes with Price but Lin does? What BS!!

  • steven ko

that would be great if it comes to fruition. suppose fakers only offer lin 2 mil for buyout, should he take it and leave 4 mil on the table? i’d say yes only if he draws interest from a contender (cavs, mavs, portland, etc.)…

  • Rookie75094

Yup…it wouldn’t matter at this point

  • JustSayNo2HardensIso

exactly. Looks like their game plan is working.

  • 7iger

Well, he has to he is Kobe Brentyen after all =)

  • Brent Yen

It is not about me…you certainly can disagree..

  • Brent Yen

    LOL…..

  • 7iger

Nah, BS is consistently spew inconsistent BS about Lin.

  • 7iger

Is that a sign or signal of Cavs wanted to claim Lin of waiver if he ever buyout?

  • deesee5

Well the team can be better. I don’t think Lin will stay. I’m sure he knows he won’t get any better next to Kobe.

  • 7iger

Two LA Medias personnel tweeted out two different starting lineup
    it is just great.

nice review! Boston’s old PG was Marcus Smart, who wasn’t traded. I think Smart could still remain the starter and Thomas with lots of mins off the bench. Smart was the 6th overall pick this year, so I don’t see the Celtics just casting him aside.

  • 7iger

I knew (not personally) Brent since the old Lin forum not long after Linsanity. I can assure you that Brent is not that type of person. I am sure that the people in this forum will agree with me.

Don’t let stuff get into your head it only hurt yourself.

    Gotta go

  • real-dsb

because unlike many of the other Houston writers, he doesn’t have special access to the Rockets, so he doesn’t have to censor his own writing.

  • John Lee

One does not need to bury one’s head deep into the toilet to know there’s something stinking. 🙂

  • 1mtoldman

smarts’ been sort of clarkson’d; ie he’s been given a brief tryout at pg as starter i think hes’ started only the last 5 games; not really done much. i would think with boston seriously in the hunt for a playoff spot if they bothered to get thomas a proven commodity he would be getting the major minutes; should they fall out of contention (especially now with their best player sullinger seriously injured apparently) then smart might get more time.

Nope. He’s not worth it. Knew him from Twitter. Same thing. Never leave things alone. I am done with him. Again, thank you!

“They seem to all be living in the past. For example, the way they recruit players is to constantly talk about what great players they had in the past and how many championships they have won. I’m not sure if current players care that much about the past and how many championships they have had. What they want to know is, “What are you going to help us win now.” I think this is why a lot of the top players have not signed with Lakers.”

You nailed it. Lakers are a dinosaur. You don’t have to look further than Kobe’s contract to know that the Lakers are living in the past. They basically sacrificed two years of competitiveness to backpay Kobe for what he had done in the past. I bet Scott still carries a pager! LOL

  • real-dsb

“we still have to remember that [Morey] was the only one that gave Jeremy a good offer after Linsanity.”

Whoa, I’m not going to give Morey any credit for that offer. He only did it because of Les. And it was a poison pill contract that screwed the Knicks out of the ability to give Lin a reasonable offer. It’s not like Morey did it out of generosity.

  • real-dsb

    great job = tanking
adverse conditions = loss of Kobe’s 37% shooting and team chemistry destroying

  • Kwok Wai Lai

IT would be too good to start from the bench in Celtics. Better start IT and let Marcus Smart learn from the bench.

  • real-dsb

“Mitch Kupchak says Lakers will not “jeopardize” Lakers future to pay old veterans a lot of $$$”

    You mean Kobe?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Right on!
You don’t need to be a Laker to see how smelly it is.

  • real-dsb

Why would you bench Clarkson after starting him? Even not as a Lin fan, once you start the rookie over the veterans, you stick with that the rest of the year.

I’m beginning to think that Scott is worse than Keith Smart O_O

  • real-dsb

wasn’t that opposite of last year? Last year, wasn’t his catch and shoot 3s really high? and pullup 3s lower?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Morey let Goran Dragic & Kyle Lowry slip away from Houston. These two are worth a fortune now!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Just tell me how many of fans would watch Lakers w/o Jeremy playing!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This donkey created the adverse conditions all by his folly acts.

  • CJSHYY

So tanking or one year contract again?

wow, that could have been fatal. Tough blow for him. Hope he recovers and comes back 100% soon.

Two more months to endure be4 the time to fire Byron. So might as well make him finish the job first.

manny’s playing a little basketball now you know. guess what his number is?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

For one thing, he’s Scott. Try to keep him dry else it will be like Charmin.

  • real-dsb

Watch, Kupchak will sign Kobe to another 2 year $25M/yr contract to thank him for his past contributions, and handcuff the Lakers for another 2 years.

the idea a draft pick first round or not will be better then a current nba player is ridiculous. this isn’t the nfl. nba draft has always been more miss then hit

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Could we just agree to disagree!

  • Charlie Sun

“Now, coming out of the deadline, the Rockets are still almost completely dependent on an exposed Patrick Beverley at point guard”

Yup, one of the few writers who actually sees it like it is.

Plus with JLin gone, Harden probably realized how much more he would have to facilitate the team (his assist numbers are up, but so are his TOs).

  • real-dsb

Fractured tibia. I knew it had to be a broken bone or torn ligament to be out for season. Well, good news is that is a relatively easy injury to recover 100% from. Best wishes for Joe to heal quickly!

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Looks like Mitch & Jim do buy what BS told them the top pick theory… So I don’t believe the rumors about they want Dragic for 80M in 4 years… no way.

  • Charlie Sun

Couldn’t the Lakers really tank hard by just agreeing with JLin on a buyout?

  • CJSHYY

Don’t think so…… I still think they want Lin bc Asia market. They can limit his playing time no need to do anything else but still can tank….

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Crucial!

  • BKN Game Thread is open
    http://www.jlinportal.com/g54-bkn-lal-game-thread/

How will Jeremy respond in the 1st game after the 8-day break?
Will his rediscovered passion on playing basketball translate to better pts/asts production?

How will he achieve his 2nd half goals of:
    1. cutting down TOs
    2. Efficient playmaking including finishing at the rim

Let’s keep hoping, cheering and praying for JLin to play his best in the 1st game of the 2nd half of the season!
    Go JLin!

  • real-dsb

It’s quite sad that Boston is “in the playoff hunt” at 11 games under .500!

  • Linja

    Price Starts, Lin Scrubs.

  • Rick Johnson

    So no Rondo?

  • CJSHYY

The young buss family is really cheap… I doubt they want to pay Rondo max contract either. I still believe they want Lin..hope Lin will not stay bc of all these…. it’s not good idea to stay in tank team for more years to come.

  • Charlie Sun

But a really quick way to alienate the Asian fan base would be limiting playing time

  • Brent Yen

He was…he was only hitting pull up 3s at 26% last yr

  • LAJane

Translation: no veterans will sign on to pass to Kobe and stand in the corner while smiling happily as he calls them soft. So let’s just call vets a jeopardy.

  • Dan Cohen

hmmm.. that phrase well, to be fair and non-hypocritical.. he is adjusting to his teammates.. that’s what we would say about lin if that happened to him is what I originally posted. What did I say that was longer and edgy? I might’ve typed something more BEFORE I click “post”, but I don’t recall editing it after any argument. Since you kept saying I posted something long, can you write it out for me to refresh my memory. Maybe the mod changed it? But I did seriously remember I typed in something more than that but it should be BEFORE MY FIRST clicking on the post button. If you say you saw it, then the only explanation can be I click post and then IMMEDIATELY after that I edit to erase something because I forgot to erase it. If I did mention something about Lin fan like you said, that applies to me too because if you are a fan, you will be bias and hard to have a 100% fair call.

Now if you say Rondo Dallas effort isn’t working out, that I agree because after he came on board they are 13-12, but I can still say it’s it might be him adjusting to his teammates. “Long dry spell” is a different and bad category as to “not fitting” in the team. The former means that the player st-nks.

  • Dan Cohen

It’s 25 games, and after he came onboard dallas is like 13-12, so of course fans are not patient. I would be impatient either if I’m a dallas fan. But rondo stats has been inconsistency.. some are almost double double and a few is like price’s numbers. So to me those can mean he is adjusting to the system , a ball hog shooting like eliis and his teammates.
