Linsanity Broke LeBron’s 23 Win Streak for The #23 Michael Jordan

JLin was the player of the game in helping the Hornets to beat LeBron’s 23 game Win-Streak over the Hornets (including 4 playoff games) for the #23 Michael Jordan himself.

  • The Hornets beat the Cavaliers 106-97 behind great team-ball (26 asts vs 16 asts)
  • The Hornets overwhelmed the Cavs in rebounding with 49-28 advantage behind MKG’s 13 rebounds. MKG set a great tone in the 1st quarter with 7 rebounds
  • This huge win gave Coach Clifford his 100th win.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_lCU7JFFSA JLin Post-game thought on having the ball in his hands at the end of game:

“..After 2 TOs that I had, I just felt that .. I had to be aggressive and make plays, ya know stopped trying to … deliver so much trying to make tough passes. It’s like if I have a shot, just take it, trying to get to the heart of the defense. I knew we’re in the bonus, too Obviously it put a lot of pressure on them, trying to defend without fouling”

This tells us the mind of a pass-first PG who’s aware of game situation that the Cavs are in the bonus (foul penalty) so he tried to drive to the heart of the defense and make good shots or get fouled. MJ, this is your Point Guard of the future. Make him an offer he can’t refuse. He just beat #1 Cav squad with full-strength by empowering the Hornets to play team-ball. The crowd is rocking, you stood up for the clutch plays …Don’t wait for too long =-}

I agree MKG really helpful bc he was the one who saved few O reb unlike the other bigs from Hornets.

  • The Raptors are hoping they won’t see Lin anytime soon

  • LinMad

we’re going to win a lot more games now because MKG brought back our interior. Something we were lacking. And if coach plays Lin at PG more, we will get more Ws cause we lack assists when Kemba plays PG or other players play PG over Lin. Lin should not be a SG. if you really want max results, you put Lin as PG.

Watching the game over again cause I missed almost half of it. What I noticed is that MKG and Batum at the start of game were trying to facilitate more than Jeremy Lin did. I think that is a coaching mistake. They caused a few TOs that looked terrible. Lin should have the ball in his hands more.

  • sport

Cavs announcers said they made Lin look like “All-Star” tonight! That’s a first time I hear someone call JLin that! Meanwhile Hornets Home announcers called Lin “great job impersonating Walker” *Puke* :S

  • bolero

    back handed compliment

  • yes, once Clifford fixed it in the 3rd quarter.. there were no sloppy passes/TO and wasted possessions

Batum really had 3 bad passing TOs in the 1st quarter.
When he simply shot it in the 3rd quarter, he was good.

I am surprised the Cavs didn’t try to double Lin and take the ball out of his hands tonight.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Sorry but I want this Hornets to rematch with GS and Clippers.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Ouch.

  • LinMad

they played Lin like an SG in the 1st qtr imo.

  • cdblue10

Lin,MKG,MW,Batum,Zeller..this is a team that can win playoff games

  • Briiick

Unless Cliff holds a short leash to KW, there is no better defender against Lin.

  • xeroid

They did double him in late 4th quarter. Zeller should have cut for the pass or dunk, instead Lin has no one to pass and resulting 2 turnovers.

  • golfhacker

I’d rather have Hansbrough over Zeller. Offensively even, but defense and rebounding Hans > Zeller. Hans just gets no burn.

  • cdblue10

Zeller needs to learn how to find his spots because he will get the ball

  • JustSayNo2HardensIso

I’m undecided about batum. May want Troy Daniels instead to properly spread the floor.

  • cdblue10

Hans is too small as a starter,he can sustain for a short period of time but not on regular minutes

  • guest

This may be the game where Lin gets noticed nationally and starts to separate from the pack for 6th man of the year!

  • LinMad

Another thing I noticed is this team especially the bigs, when they get the rebound, they pass it to Batum or MKG instead of Lin. You know if it’s Kemba or BROB, they getting the ball first. This is coaching problem imo. I don’t think coach made it clear enough that Lin is a PG. I think they tell Lin to pass the ball and dont hold it too long. They don’t know he’s the PG. They think he’s the SG.

  • cdblue10

Troy is a shooter but defense wise Batum is miles ahead

  • BobbyH

KHuang is right. Let Irving score and Hornets might win. Hats off.

  • golfhacker

Zeller needs to toughen up. He plays scared.

  • cdblue10

TRue,prolly 1 more year,he can be a force in the middle if he will become stronger and learned how to pick his spots. He doesn’t need to shoot in the perimeter give that to the other 4.

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • golfhacker

That second TO, Zeller backed out of the passing lane. Play was there but Zeller still doesn’t understand that Lin can get him the ball in tight spaces. He is rarely ready to receive Lin’s passes.

Jeremy Lin makes it on NBA pulse yet again. Trending #8 on social media. They still havent updated his jersey…:
    http://www.nba.com/pulse/

  • zxcvb

There was one especially bad possession where Frank wasted 4s after the rebound, looking off Lin and trying to find Batum. He gives it to Batum who dribbles it up…and gives it right back to Lin.

But Lin, being a true team leader, gave Frank an easy bucket right afterward. He had every right to freeze Frank out, but that’s not winning teamball. If Lin got justified “revenge” on Frank, that would ruin the flow of the offense.

  • KHuang

$2 million just beat $60 million

  • zxcvb

    And he’s a UConn guy!

  • zxcvb

I liked him a lot in Portland, but Charlotte Batum is selfish when healthy.

No way I’d re-sign him, especially with his mileage (played since 19yo) and injury concerns.

  • sws94

    He’s trending on twitter too.

  • Briiick

Similarly, let KW score and the opponent will win.

  • zxcvb

Wow, the team assist totals really say it all: 26 vs. 16. Lin’s style encourages teamball while Kyrie (and Kemba) kill movement to collect individual stats.

There’s so much chatter about Love, Blatt and Lebron but the only real problem with Cleveland is Kyrie Irving. Trade him for an unselfish 2-way PG or a couple good bench players and they’d be as good or better than GSW.

  • sport

Lets hope he’s too “Ego bruised” to show up lol. Actually I hope he stays out rest of the season! That way Lin can lead the team to playoffs with full blown Linsanity!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Once the eye contact of Zeller and Lin was connected, Lin’s pass just zapped right on the money in one dribble. Kyrie was hands down watching.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Didn’t someone say that Jordan was recently in China? Maybe he sees the light with JLin. How can you not?

  • heart

Thank you for your observation. You’re right. I think one of the reasons is bc it’s the Coach’s directive to also pass the rock to NB since he’s supposed to be another offense initiator on the floor. Hence, Frank acts on his inexperience and/or preference intuitively. Also, Frank knows that Hornets are trying to keep NB since he himself is already a long-term Hornets. In order to keep Frank from doing that, instruction and direction have to come from the Coach.

I think MJ was holding his breadth on that clutch basket by Lin. Probably, he couldn’t believe that Lin made it. It definitely got MJ nervous watching and had to spin around. • Arsenium12 .

From the NY Times, Oct. 25, 2015 :

As the N.B.A. starts a new season this week, the salary cap for players will climb to a record $70 million per team at the same time that a federal court considers charges that cheerleaders have been cheated out of fair pay.

This fall, legal claims of wage theft in professional cheerleading have spread from the N.F.L. to the N.B.A., and basketball teamsโ€™ treatment of female performers is under intense scrutiny.

Lauren Herington, a former dancer for the Milwaukee Bucks, sued the team in federal court in Wisconsin last month, charging that she had been paid well under the minimum wage during the 2013-14 season. Hers is the first suit of its kind in the N.B.A., and it could have implications both for the roughly 40 women who would qualify as members of a Bucks class action and for the broader league.

While dancing for the Bucks, Ms. Herington said, she spent full days practicing, performing and engaging in mandatory exercise and beauty regimens. The flat fees she received โ€” $65 for games, $30 for practices and $50 for special appearances โ€” translated to an average hourly wage of $5, according to her lawyers. On busier weeks, hourly earnings fell as low as $3, the lawyers said, less than half the $7.25 minimum required by both Wisconsin and federal law.

  • Even though MKG shot poorly (5-14 for 11pts/13rebs) but his rebounding and airtight defense against LeBron James were important to not let King James dominate the paint like in the 1st game loss against the Cavs.

MKG surprised me with his ability to dribble-drive and finish so well around the rim.
I know he’s good in rebounding but he’s even better than advertised because on many occasions he managed to get his own miss, saved multiple possessions by diving on the floor. MKG and JLin had the same philosophy in fighting for the ball and 100% hustles.

MKG would be a great PnR partner with JLin. I expect to see more MKG cutting in to get Lin’s alley-oops

  • KHuang

    BUTTSANITY

  • sport

It’s hard to believe MKG’s a small forward. His height and body makes him look like a power forward! Also he rebounds and finishes at the rim better than Hornets’ bigs! Yup without MKG’s defense, Hornets would have trouble winning this game! There was so much hype and anticipation for MKG’s return, now we know why! Sad, if they keep Walker as starting PG, MKG’s talent will be wasted!

Lin’s no look passes to Zeller and MKG are as demoralizing as Lebrons dunk. When Lebron skys to dunk the ball you realize you are competing against someone jumping above the rim. When Lin makes a pass you don’t expect you realize you are playing against someone seeing above the court.

    ..
Unfortunately, the second 24 minutes for the Cavs couldn’t have been any further from the first 24 minutes. The ball stopped moving, which resulted in the offense struggling to score. To compound things, the defense, which had looked good-not-great against a Hornets team playing without guard Kemba Walker and center Al Jefferson in the first, couldn’t stop anyone (which includes Jeremy Lin, who somehow finished with 24 points). The combination of not scoring and not defending resulted in the Cavs being out-scored 57-39 in the second half, ultimately leading to a 106-97 loss.

With no Walker and no Jefferson, and the Cavs nearly at full strength (Matthew Dellavedova didn’t play because of a hamstring issue he had been dealing with) and with a day of rest in between their overtime win over the Indiana Pacers, it appeared that this would be a walkthrough for the Cavs. The same feelings were held true after the Cavs finished the first half with a 13-1 run to take a nine-point lead heading into the break.

However, the third quarter took the life out of those particular thoughts, and it was the Cavs inability to stop Lin that took themselves out of any chance of getting that seventh straight win. In the third quarter particularly, Lin nearly out-scored the Cavs by himself, finishing with 11 points in the quarter to the Cavs 17, and was a big reason why they were able to erase that nine-point halftime deficit in matter of minutes.

The Cavs were able to make a run late in the fourth quarter, with a LeBron James ferocious dunk cutting a once 15-point Hornets lead down to six with 2:44 left to play. But as it had been for most of the second half, the inability to make stops hurt them, as two free throws and pull-up jumper from Lin on back-to-back possessions putting the Hornets back up by 10, and with the way the Cavs’ offense had looked in the second half, put the game out of reach for them.

Shoa Lin basketball always wins against shallow basketball. Cavs never had a chance. Lol

  • sport

Walker does more harm than good for the team with his iso and shot chucking ways. Not to mention his poor defense due to fear of injury!

  • Rick Johnson

Props to her. More I hear of her the more I like her.

  • blueCypher

Great game by Jeremy, hope he continues like this on Friday

  • zxcvb

That was awesome. So sick of CP3’s constant whining and flopping.

He actually grabbed Rubio’s arm (no call) and Reddick then fouled Rubio again (whistle). And after that, he had the nerve to act like Holtkamp’s call was totally unfair.

Of course, the average bigoted NBA fan is insulting Holtkamp because she’s a woman. As if 99% of male refs don’t make worse calls every damn game.

  • zxcvb

Depends if he’s allowed to play PG for 30+mpg.

  • Rick Johnson
  • blueCypher

Ya, depends on role and minutes. I assumed Kemba is out for a while though

  • LinJa

Just watched the game a few min ago, wow expected good game from jlin. But got lin domination. Tried to ice him on the 4th and still came back and matched James production. I am loving it. If Lin made all his free throws cavs would be completely embarrassed. Kyrie can “blow” by Lin all he wants, still not good enough.

  • [3:08 on highlights] Batum brought the ball up but he waited for JLin to come to set up the offense.
JLin proceeded to find a cutting Frank inside for the easy score. 47-43

It’s huge that JLin has been handed the key to set up the offense.

  • CaliUSMC

    She has no fear.

  • blueCypher

I just realized that Brian Roberts makes more money than Lin this year

  • sport

Only cause Batum still isn’t 100% after injury and Walker was out. If Walker comes back and Lin still has the key then that’s something else!

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Wow, that’s horrible man..With all this money the NBA is making, the cheerleaders should get much more…..I hope something is done for them…there’s absolutely no reason for them to make so little, specially when the business is doing so great.

  • yes, I hope the Hornets is smart enough to hand the key of the offense to JLin as the 1st choice.
    Batum/Kemba can be 2nd choice

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

that’s very unreasonable pay, specially when the NBA is generating more and more money…everyone that is part of the NBA should get a raise if the company is growing and making large pile of money.

  • LinJa

Also I love the fact that writers highlight that hornets haven’t beaten lebron in 6 years and mostly talk about cavs typical 3rd quarter woes,Clifford coaching and MKG return. Lin was mentioned either in the last paragraph or 3/4 of the articles. These writers were completely exposed.

  • LinJa

    We know they’re not smart

  • check out Tristan Thompson’s “What just happened?” look as Zeller finished the dunk of Lin’s bullet pass LOL
He never saw the ball whizzing past his ears
    [highlights 4:35-4:41]

  • Politics sure get in the way.
Even if they want to trade Kemba, they need to ensure his numbers are good first.

    That’s where the dilemma is

  • LinJa

You know Kemba is not in the trade block!

  • sport

If Lin rises and continues to show what he can do as starting PG, you never know!

  • not yet .. =)

but even if he is, noone is touching his $12M/yr for an undersized SG
Hornets is stuck with Kemba’s salary

  • Dorothy

Do you think once Kemba is back, Hornets will win more games because they have MKG now? (Last year they also had Kemba and MKG, but they did not have Batum.)

  • MorlockO

I think they will win more games, but not as much as when Kemba is out… MKG impact is big specially in defense and rebounding which are hornets biggest deficiencies… and lin would still play lin ball for 15-20 mins a game which is enough to win some games…

  • Acbc

Why has Batum been playing bad? The injury is only part of the problem. IMO, it’s because Batum has been made to fulfill a role too far from his capabilities. Cho and Clifford had told him that he could be a Lebron type of player that he could have that type of impact on the game. As we have seen, Batum was not a great passer or ball handler, not enough yet to become a dominant ball handler. That type of internal pressure to live up to unreasonable expectations, to be a player he’s not yet capable of it is eating his confidence up inside.

Sports psychologists have become immensely valuable to athletes to help them ” get out of their own way”. Batum’s mind has so much wants, desires and pressures that he can’t take a step without some internal voice telling him how great or bad he is.

“The inner game takes place within the mind of the player and is played against such obstacles as fear, self-doubt, lapses in focus, and limiting concepts or assumptions. The inner game is played to overcome the self-imposed obstacles that prevent an individual or team from accessing their full potential. “. This is when you have to defeat yourself.

One of the obstacles aside from fear, self-doubt and self imposed limits is our inner self judgement and the ego driven need to judge every aspect of our actions as either good or bad. When I read game posts on this site, I often see that type of constant judgement of Lin’s play, and yet he often comes back later to prove us wrong. A play is not good or bad, it’s a process that probes and creates better future opportunities to come. Good coaches recognize this with establish stars like CP3 or Curry. We are often way too hard on Lin like true Tiger moms.

The truth is less than 50% of the time, a team scores or makes a great play. Even Stef Curry makes only 44% of his 3 pt shots and that’s considered unbelievable. A single missed shot or TO is just that, one out of many in a game of percentages. How you lose your 50% of points is just as important as how you make your points. The great coaches will make you’re team win your share of points the way they want you to make them and not how you choose to execute you’re own game plan. The Spurs and GSW did just that against Lebron. They allowed Lebron to get his by single covering him with a very good defender but took all his teammates out of the game. They made Lebron win it by himself against a tough defender. Which is why both those defenders became MVPs of the finals. Pop is doing that now and trolling and deliberately losing with the games against the Cavs and GSW.

You’ve seen tennis players smash rackets on court like a raging lunatic. Believe me, it’s a very easy cycle of self judgment to self hatred that drives tennis and golf pros into psycho antics. Team sports tend to hide this a little better because the fault can be passed onto someone else. But tennis players and golfers are pretty much naked on the stage with no one to blame but themselves. They have no one to blame but themselves and blame they do! The level of self hatred can be stifling.

When a player subjects himself to constant self judgement by unreasonable expectations from coaches and FO, they can become frozen in fear of failure. Worst, they can be so full of self hatred that they take every little mistakes as indicator of failure. Batum may be suffering from too much pressure and expectations from the team IMO. Batum is a fine SF with many upside for involving teammates and making the extra pass to find a better shot. Hornets have been forcing him into an uncomfortable situation to fulfill a goal that simply doesn’t have the ability to play the role they want him to. This is perhaps why the Hornets are known for their disfunctional FO.

  • Dorothy

That is also how I feel. So, Hornets will still think the factor X is MKG.

  • 808JL7

Jordan could make up the money and then some with KW trade and JLin starting. All that Chinese money.

In yesterdayโ€™s radio interview with ESPN Charlotte, Lin revealed his ankle still bothered him and the 50 min PT made it worse:

    http://stationcaster.com/player_skinned.php?s=131&c=1291&f=5215023

Most of us LOFs know Lin would play as long as he can walk. Sigh! He needs to take a break until after the ASB. They donโ€™t pay him enough to sacrifice his body like that.

  • blubell

Batum also handed the ball to Jeremy at the end of the game. That was a nice gesture, acknowledging Jeremy’s contribution.

  • Rick Johnson
  • Great observation!

    – Batum is indeed out of his comfort zone being asked to be a primary playmaker while he made 3 quick TOs in the 1st quarter. When he was asked to score to start the 3rd quarter, he was better to score 5pts. I remember how Batum was a cold-blooded catch-and-shoot player in Portland. He can also be a secondary playmaker with his pass to a cutting Lin. But he’s not a primary playmaker.

    – As for JLin tiger fans, some of them are too focused on 3 missed FTs (3-6 FTM then made the next 8FTs) and missed the 4 assists in the 1st quarter which was more important to allow the Hornets to play team-ball. They ended up winning the assists battle 26-16 because everyone looked to pass first (i.e. Hawes even drove under the rim but kicked out to an open Frank for a bad-breaking 3). My hope is that the tiger fans won’t be setting such unrealistic expectations to scrutinize Lin’s mistakes (however well-meaning they might be) to the point of missing Lin’s main contribution as a playmaker to help the Hornets win. If they are excessively too focused on his mistakes without praising his good shots/playmaking, maybe they’re not fans after all.

  • yes, I also saw that.
Batum wanted JLin to dribble out the clock because JLin pulled them through.
That speaks volume of Batum’s good character.

  • Lefon Jang

Also this is Batum’s contract year so there’s an added pressure on him to perform. It may not be necessary from the Hornets FO. Dealing with your own demon is the hardest thing…

  • adele

Thanks for this in depth analysis. I appreciate your thoughts. Not a lot of people not even the so called LOFs can see through Lins game, in relation to his teams and the nba as a whole.

  • Briiick

They already saw what happened when MKG returned and Lin could not play.

  • blubell
  • zxcvb

No need to use the term “LOFs.” Like 99% of his fans, I’m a basketball fan who happens to cheer for Lin as well. There’s plenty of other Asian players I never cheered for because they couldn’t ball like Jeremy does.

  • zxcvb

I’ve been a fan of MKG since the start of the year, but the only real factor in winning is the Lin/Kemba situation.

If Kemba is playing his hero ball game with no defense, then MKG can’t fix anything. He played well against Portland but they still lost with Kemba running the show. Lin leading and his bigs doing their job is all that matters.

  • Dan Ang

    Batum is a smart man!

  • your son’s voltaire

MJ does that to everyone on the team heading into the locker room

  • zxcvb

MJ got a front seat to Linsanity…will he have the guts to make Lin his PG?

I doubt it, but tonight was as good a showcase as possible. Kemba has never beaten an LBJ team in his 5 years in Charlotte. Lin didn’t even need OT or hot 3pt shooting to beat Lebron’s super-team tonight.

Trading Kemba for a D/R (defense and rebounding) big man like Rudy Gobert would be a dream. I’d gladly trade Kemba and a 1st for Rudy. I’d even trade Frank if the Jazz wanted him instead of the pick.

  • zxcvb

Not that I’m actually reading anything into it, but literally everyone else got the standard back-pat while Lin got the butt-slap. That’s what people are talking/joking about.

  • adele

Yes that was awesome. MJ is on his feet and obviously as thrilled as LOFs. Lol!

  • one of the replays shows him faking the look for the pass, then looking to the basket to fake the shot, and finally revealling what he planned on doing all along, all so that his defender would commit and shift over. thats some deception!

  • KHuang

No, Frank alone is far more valuable than Rudy Gobert.

In the NBA, shotblocking is not as important as people think.

To improve a team’s inside defense in the NBA nowadays, the key is to make sure the guards (particularly the point guard) do not yield continuous perimeter penetration.

In the 80s under the illegal defense rule, rim protection was the anchor of a good defense. But in the 21st century that has completely different rules, 3 pt line protection is the anchor.

  • Weifang

it’s just the formula for linsanity. 1) broken team (lots injury) 2) Lin was trusted to control the offense with no choice 3) and coach wanted to win seriously.

  • KHuang

I wrote on this forum before the season started that Nicolas Batum would be so bad at shooting guard that it would make the Hornets miss Lance Stephenson.

After a brief hot early start where Batum cherrypicked off Lin drawing triple teams, Batum is now playing worse than Lance Stephenson was.

  • Acbc

I’m a proud LOF. The NBA is a league full of so many faults that I had given up watching it a long time ago. Lin is the only reason I’m back to the first game I loved as a kid playing endless hours alone in the park. Lin plays the type of game that is pure and innocent.

The Lin haters will use the LOF to deride them as a bunch of dummies who don’t know the game. Somehow they never complain about the foreign money they make of all the international fans that follow Kobe or Lebron from Miami to Cleveland. International fans don’t have a homer attitude because they aren’t homers. They are fans of a particular player. That’s how they follow the game.

When it comes right down to it, the players are going to make a ton of money on their next NBA collective agreement becuase of oversea international fans. They love the money but they hate Lin. That’s the bottom line. Any fans that follow Lin by extention gets that same hatred. I’m a LOF and I’m proud of it.

  • KHuang

The only reason I didn’t tiger fan on Lin’s free throws is because I knew he is still injured.

  • KHuang

    Absolutely NOT, no.

MKG is as unskilled and as clueless as he always has been.

At least when Lin’s on the court playing point guard, MKG dutifully runs the plays. That is a very positive thing that MKG does.

But once Walker returns to stink up the playmaking, MKG will fall back to his typical no impact levels like in the Portland game where MKG put up good stats but couldn’t make a real impact.

  • KHuang

I’ve been complaining about that from the moment Lin was signed.

The Hornets signed Lin thinking he was going to be a 3rd string backup.

Instead, he’s playing at an MVP caliber when allowed to.

  • KHuang

It was NOT the defense of MKG that sealed the paint.

It was LIN dropping down on low post scorers but recovering to contest outside shots.

    MKG is WILDLY OVERRATED.

  • Weifang

I have to give credit to the team and the coach. This team all of sudden looked like having a soul now. MKG definitely helps Lin in defense. The team started to help each other more, they were defending P&R much better than before.
Last I want to give the credit to the refs. I personally think this is Chinese New Year effect. So Lin can get those calls. To be honest, Lin can look really bad if they don’t give some calls.
Overall, Lin probably only shows half what he can do for the team. So far, almost all Lin’s passes took half second hesitation. That’s a good indication that Lin still not sure where his teammates will be for the next move. Well, I am excited anyway…

  • KHuang

MKG is nowhere as good as you say he is.

If Batum was put at SF exclusively, Batum would outproduce MKG even now.

The only reason MKG looks so “good” is because Charlotte had a D League player in PJ Hairston starting at SF.

There are a ton of SFs around the league who’d easily outproduce MKG at a fraction of the cost – provided that Lin was the PG.

  • Maknusia

lol…looks like Jeremy did all the must do’s that we talked about and not only got a Win but a nice lap to his butt from MJ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hope CC and FO realizes, the key of winning is giving the ball to Lin atleast at 50%

Go Lin…trully happy for the win…not many can say they manage to pull it off against Cavs *clap* *clap*

  • KHuang

The key was Lin not getting into foul trouble.

Normally Lin clamps down on guys like Irving even if it means foul trouble. But this game, Lin wisely let Irving go while still doing sound defensive principles.

  • Weifang

Yes, I forgot to thank refs for that. Lin did a couple of risky move and refs let them go. I agree, overall, Lin is very careful. By now Lin probably knows letting those super star score sometimes can be a good thing.

  • Acbc

Players know who is the real alpha. Coaches and FO that meddle in the natural hierarchy of a team only confuses the team and make them play unnaturally. It’s purely animalistic in the way a pack leader must lead, like a lion or alpha wolf. They know who will be able to finish the kill.

Jim Courrier ( grandslams winning American tennis player ) once said as an analyst that players know that that they must kill to eat. The NBA is no different. The players wanted to win badly. They wanted to kill the Cavs. That’s why they chose to follow the leader that can go for the kill for them. Alpha dogs aren’t chosen, they have to earn it. Last season you could see in mid February that the Lakers players started to split apart and chose to follow Lin. The same is happening now in Charlette.

    Jeremy Lin, PG A+

    32 MIN | 7-13 FG | 2-4 3FG | 8-11 FT | 5 REB | 8 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 5 TO | 24 PTS | +3 +/-

Linsanity returned for a brief stint last night in the Queen City. You have to take your cap off to Jeremy Lin, who decided to carry the Hornets load offensively in this one. He managed a healthy diet of probing in the paint to setup teammates, pushing the ball in transition and attacking Mo Williams when he was in the game for Kyrie Irving.

Lin came alive in the third quarter with 11 points and 3 assists. He knocked down two triples and made Cleveland pay in transition on both of their live-ball turnovers in the period.

The importance of Linโ€™s role cannot be understated for this team. Tonight was a testament to the fact that Charlotte has one of the best backup point-guards in the league, but the value of playing clutch-time mins next to Kemba and ability to defend bigger wings in these situations are priceless.

Wow, I didnt realize there was a face-off between SCurry and JWall – 51 vs 41 pts!

Curry could have easily gone for the record….there was plenty of time…

    quote: nba.com

Curry made his first six shots from the floor and was feeling it, especially from 3-point territory. He came one 3 short of tying the single-game record, and though it was on his mind, he didn’t start popping shots just to reach it as the game got out of hand.

“I was kind of searching but not trying to force with where the game was,” Curry said. “You can’t mess around with the basketball gods trying to chase a record if the game doesn’t call for it.”

  • absolutely pure ๐Ÿ™‚ When teammates start looking to pass to open shooters, it’s a beauty to watch.

With Jeremy Lin running the floor, instead of Kemba Walker, there was a lot more ball movement and the Hornets offense seemed to be in better rhythm. However, Lin put on his humble shoes and said that his team missed their leading scorer. โ€œKemba, honestly, is irreplaceable. We all know that. (But) we feel like if everyone can chip in a little bit, we can try to make up for his absence,โ€ Lin said after the victory.

  • sws94

  • KHuang

    Lin STANDING UP FOR HIMSELF.

good for Lin – it WORKS

  • dave lam

Great game from Jeremy. He looks much better as a PG than a SG

  • KHuang

If Walker ran Clifford’s plays like he is supposed to, Lin at SG would be routinely dumping 35 on opponents like he did in the Toronto game.

  • KHuang

    good for Lin.

The refs are treating him more fairly now that Lin is standing up to them.

  • sws94

Lin led, he didn’t beat LBJ alone. Took solid defense by MKG, guys he passed the ball to to knock down shots, guys to be in the right place on drives and convert shots, guys to set picks for him and so forth. And also, look at how well the bench did without Lin directing them. So they deserve credit as well.

He definitely controlled the pace of the game and played a gorgeous, wonderful game and came up huge, but Lin is a 5 on 5 player and his influenced led for a great team victory.

MJ has seen Lin mostly perform well in Charlotte. I think he’s pleased overall with him.

  • KHuang

    but it FEELS right

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That’s why he’s jlin. Refs will respect him.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Now hornets have 3 get down dirty defenders.

  • sws94

Me too. First heard it at the gross clutchfans, don’t know if they invented it or not.

  • Acbc

It’s nice that they gave Lin credit but I hate that they gave it in a backhanded manner pounding in the fact that he is a back up player. How about the fact that Lin broke a 6-7 year record against king James? How about the fact that Lin got the whole team going instead only one guys scoring?

The Hornets will never allow Lin to be the face of the franchise. Linsanity will be a fluke to be wiped away as an anomaly.

You can bet that KW will not let this go on and will be back on Friday to take back his shine. This fake injury reminds me so much of Harden sitting after being benched by Mchale that first year near the end of the season. They were coming into a game against the mighty Clippers and Harden, just like KW decided to let the team lose without him. Lin of course did his thing and beat the clippers and Harden came right back the next game.

Let’s just see how Cliff and MJ handle the same old KW ISO garbage game.

  • yellowshadow

haha cody also held his hands up to display 3 fingers, he knew it was going in

  • sws94

Good thing they went away from that in this game. It was ugly and the Hornets would have had their usual down 10 points or more in the first quarter had that continued. Going through Lin and some MKG pushing the pace was the ticket.

I do think Batum and Lin playing a true 2-man facilitating game works well if the balance is right and Batum doesn’t dribble much.

  • TK Wong

Hats off play definitely! And look closer and see MJ scratching his head in disbelief.

  • yellowshadow

he be like, “come be our pg senpai”

  • sws94

I think it is about fouls not called from a ref or to say a ref is biased. Lin’s comment was general so it’s ok.

  • sws94

The difference is Lin is not going to the corner as a PG. He’s at different parts of the court able to direct movement better and set the pace. The problem with Kemba and Batum is they keep the ball on one side of the court. Watching the Spurs and GSW, the ball goes all over the court. Lin, really, is the only one on the team that knows how to swing the ball from on side of the court to the other. Others will try it if Lin sets the example like Marv or Cody. But with Kemba in, it all changes.

Theoretically, PG or SG wouldn’t matter as long as the ball goes through Lin. But he does better as PG because the ball doesn’t flow the same way as when he’s directing the traffic and showing it doesn’t have to stay on one side of the court.

Well, better late than never. This is why I’m not complaining about Charlotte. Slowly but surely all the wrong memes and ignorant press are being erased. GO LIN!

  • Acbc

Thanks for the compliment but most of the sports psychology is well published in many different ways. In fact, the old Chinese saying ” to master others require force, to master yourself requires strength” pretty much sums up a lot of the inner struggle we all have.

The one thing I feel is mine is
“The truth is less than 50% of the time, a team scores or makes a great play. Pop is doing that now and trolling and deliberately losing with the games against the Cavs and GSW.”

Learning how to lose comes from my understanding of poker (which I’ve hardly played) and why it’s such a sport. The best coaches not only use their own talents to score the most points possible, they use the 50% of expected lost points to promote their own game plan. Game planning is about match strengths against weaknesses, but few coaches matches loss possessions against expected opponents’ points.

Clifford is still using the old 3 stars system of game matching. Lin gets it. That’s why he thanked MKG as an important part of the success of the win. As much as Lin got his teammates to share the Rock and spread the scoring, it was the fact that MKG shut down LBJ enough to force the ball into an ISO maniac like Irving. That happy accident is why the hornets won.

  • Lefon Jang

It’s called Humbleness. “If youโ€™re not humble in this world, then the world will throw humbleness upon you.” – Mike Tyson

You really want to quote Tyson, lol. ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s one of his good quotes.

  • yellowshadow

hornets have no reason to lose the next 3 games. if we lose against heats because kemba’s return results in hornets not playing team basketball, i will be angry :c

  • sws94

I’m wondering about something. Clifford said Lin wants the ball at the end of the game. Likes to take the big shot. He also said if you look at his career you see this. So, Cliff knows Lin can deliver in the crunch. Does that mean he’ll still get run in the closing unit?

As you all know, I’m much more concerned with Lin finishing than starting. Your point of him being more useful as a starter is proven in his numbers, albeit it is something of a small sampling. But his finishing is where he can win games provided they are close. So, it’ll be interesting when Kemba, Batum and Lin are all back how far into the 4th quarter he’ll go and if he’ll finish at least some of the games now that MKG is back.

  • yellowshadow

bench kemba in the 4th. cliff’s done it before!

  • sws94

Very unusual. Not expecting that to happen but rarely.

  • sws94

Noticed it. First noticed a lot of scratches on Hawes then saw some on Love. But Lin looks like a warrior with deep battle scras. In fact, he is one. And yes, there is a slow dissolving of the wrong memes. And the ones that don’t get with the program and stick with those false notions will be exposed more than they are now.

  • sws94

    in flight!

  • CJSHYY

I think Lin will be in close game but when Kemba is back Lin will not run the O in the end of game.

  • KHuang

    Disagree.

Kaminsky is a very tough cover who is new to the NBA.

Draymond Green is fortunate to be playing on a stacked Warriors team that doesn’t really need him. He’s not a true great player. Even on the Warriors, he still gets bashed up pretty good.

  • KHuang

When Batum and Walker are hogging, Lin is neither a 1 or a 2.

    He is a ZERO

  • Rick Johnson

He did it and went with Roberts a few games ago with Lin out. First game after ASG roster decided.

  • yellowshadow

no bro, draymond is a perennial nba all defensive team and consistent contender for defensive player of the year in the last 3 seasons who can guard 1-5. kaminsky is a good rookie, but in the end he is a rookie who did well against the worst pf in the league in terms of defense, kevin love. if tristan thompson was on kaminsky he would not have made it rain last night.

  • blubell
  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

12 games as a starter is a decent size sample..it’s not like it’s 3-4 game as a starter.

    The stats are glaringly better as a starter..he’s shooting 45%FG and 41% from 3point range..As a bench player, he’s shooting 40%FG and 28% from 3point range

Lin stats as a starter is “massively better than as a bench player and I believe there’s a big reason for that…the reason is he needs time to get going…Also, he also need proper rest to sit down in between quarters…Also, his big men aren’t good finishers.

As a bench player, he will play straight minutes for a bit too long from the first to second quarter where if he’s playing well, Clifford would keep him in for the entire second quarter….He’s done it,but as a player, you’d rather get rest in between your minute.

The good news is that as a free agent, Lin would be able to pull up his stats as a starter to show team that he has proven to be a good starting guard in this league.

  • orLinaryjoe
  • Yes, 12 games are enough as a sample size, especially with such glaring difference in 3FG% & PPG

Personally, starting gave JLin a chance to set the tone in the game to play teamball and get in the rhythm faster.
When he comes in as a reserve, a lot of times he just followed the tone that was set by Kemba as a starter. And often times, Kemba was still in the game as the PG so Lin also didn’t get to handle the ball much which affects his shooting rhythm.

I hope JLin team takes it into consideration whether the Hornets will offer him a chance to start as a dual PG (assuming Kemba stays there). Even starting Lin as an SG would be a waste of his talent due to the politics to set Kemba as the de facto PG due to his salary & size.

  • donsmacau

Wishfulness abounds that Clifford will play JLIN more after Kemba comes back. Even if JLIN and Kemba both get 30 min. each – those minutes are not EQUAL.

Kemba’s be at point guard for 30 min. with starters and JLIN’s might be 15 min (if lucky) with bench at PG (unless Brob outranks him as before) and another 15 min as combo trash guard.

Against tough, strong teams like the Cavs – almost every possession counts, thus JLIN cannot have the impact on games like we witnessed last night.

Hornets back to old isohero Kemba-ball instantly after Kemba returns.

  • Rick Johnson

Greg Monroe might be a good rim protecting PnR center to pair with JLin:

  • Briiick

Agreed. I think Batum might not return next season, so Hornets for the first time are giving Lin some love. I have seen the duo PG of Lin and KW work very well a few times. The solution is that KW (and the management behind him) should let Lin facilitate 50% of the time and limit KW’s shots taken per game under 15.

I was more thinking of replacing Jefferson with Monroe. Robin doesn’t like him though. Does anyone know his game? Is he a slow post up player like Jefferson or more athletic player who would be good at PnR and rim protection. Seems like the Hornets needs someone to counter players like Cousin’s who they didn’t have an answer for:

  • that’s a special quota of 1 BT/game!

  • Ideally, Lin/Batum would work better because Batum is not so ball-dominant
But Kemba is the designated PG for the Hornets.

It’ll be interesting to see what MJ will do

  • cdblue10

The funny thing is we haven’t seen Lin played with Al yet being Lin as the PG and as far as I remembered Al was a good PnR player when he was paired with Williams during his Jazz days, that’s when the cerebral coach Sloan is still steering the team before Williams made him fired.

  • DX

Hope Kemba rest until 100%. Lin can help for sure.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Agreed on your Batum comments…The Hornets are slowly cooling down on Batum and that is leading them to consider giving Lin more attention, specially when they take a look at Lin stats as a starter.

They are finally realizing that giving Batum a max deal is crazy..These deal should be reserve to All-Stars players.

  • cdblue10

Kemba will be exposed if he will just be shooting under 15,I don’t think they can change his style of play unless they decided to trade him with Monroe

  • Whitman Lam

Lin is much better at defending Dragic than Kemba, and if he gets switched onto DWade he won’t get posted up as easily as Kemba either.
On the other hand, the Heat are VERY skilled at trapping the pick n’ roll on the perimeter, so I hope Coach Cliff can draw up better plays for Lin than the simple plays they’ve been running so far.

  • cdblue10

Maybe just to tag along to your discussion.
A quick look at the rumor mill has the following big men “available for the right price”
Monroe, Gasol, Blake Griffin, Hassan Whiteside, David Lee, Dwight, Al Horford, DMo, Joakim Noah, Kevin Love, Mozgov, Tyson Chandler.

Some of them of course are pipe dreams. But, if you’re CHA FO, who would you get? And, at what price?

  • sws94

I don’t want to see Lin guard Wade. Wade is very strong, very savvy and can get Lin in foul trouble. He likes to play psychological games with players. I think Wade knows Lin is good, but Wade is also a clever veteran and gets guys to do things they don’t want to do, similar to Manu who does the same.

Miami has always been a challenging matchup for Lin. It’s that way. Some teams are tough matchups for some players.

That doesn’t mean Lin won’t have a strong or effective game against them Friday. I don’t know. Lin’s had some good games against them. But I don’t think he’ll have the room to operate that Cleveland let him have. And I agree that Cliff needs to think about plays for all of his PGs, Kemba and Roberts included (if Roberts plays).

    Jeremy Lin, PG

  • CJSHYY

I thought they just signed Greg Monroe this season?

  • sws94

Cliff on Lin from practice interview today: Asked about Lin wanting the ball late in the game and reporter saying he hasn’t had that much opportunities to have it. Cliff: He has courage, confidence, works on his game, late in the game like he did last night he wants the ball and that’s always a good thing. He’s finished the majority of the games, Lin, Kemba and Nick and coach says he likes having him out there.

  • sws94

Kemba was asked if there were any thoughts of sitting out games until the All Star Break after he said the knee has been bothering him a few games and he said no, no, no, no, no to the reporter asking him. He said he’s played through the pain and has logged a lot of minutes and they played close games with OTs where he played big minutes.

  • Rick Johnson

I’d like to see Blake Griffin and Lin play together. Dwight and Tyson would be great PnR partners but they are getting old. I’d like a bigger version of Ed Davis. Ed is kind of small to guard some of the bigger centers but a proven PNR partner for Lin

  • cdblue10

Kemba needs to sit and rest for the good of the team and for himself as well

  • Dorothy

No Kemba knows he can never let Lin start as a pg again, therefore even if he is not 100% he will play. He is not taking another risk for Lin to outshine him.

  • CJSHYY

    Good to hear this….

  • cdblue10

Lin became a better PG when paired with another stud defender and that as well reciprocated from MKG with a cerebral PG ,if this continues Kemba’s reign will be totally in jeopardy. Not creating any controversy here but that’s basketball, everyone wants a winning team.

  • sws94

If he rests, the organization will make him rest. He insists on playing. I know he’s missed games in previous seasons but he doesn’t want to miss many more this season.

  • sws94

They have different strengths. Yes, Kemba can score 50 but Lin will probably top out in the 40s for his career as a high because he doesn’t shoot as much. Lin’s style makes the team play differently and brings enthusiasm to the whole team because he pretty much involves the whole team. Kemba is more razzle dazzle but his best games for his talent he scores 50 and the team watches him and cheers for him because he’s in the zone.

But if Kemba’s effort don’t help wins, then it doesn’t help the team. And Cliff said they are a better team when they move the ball. Kemba isn’t great at that.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

It’s his choice. Either you come out and pick up a loss or you run the risk of further injury to rest for the season or the least of all come out like a hero scoring 50+ again to lead the team to victory. However the team has had experience of Linsanity, they can’t go back to normal again. Man they have just defeated the best team in the East. Lin matched point for point, play for play against Kyrie and frequently he was double or triple teamed. Given him the screen, Lin could go a long way torturing his enemy rather than just shooting and scoring. The whole team tends to get more rebound knowing when Lin will shoot the ball and at what position.
Linsanity 2.0 thrives and Kemba Walker’d better play like that for the team to win.

  • cdblue10

Kemba’s strength suppresses Lin strength and it’s just not going to work.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Surprised Jordan would diss Hawes like that….I thought he had a decent game.

  • Briiick

I have the same feeling that MKG and Lin click in defense and thus save each other’s energy for better offense.

  • adele

    True.

  • Briiick

Well said. That’s why I think the organization should ask him to sit and watch for a few more games.

  • cdblue10

Defense create offense and with their energy on the court they can frustrate a lot of opposing teams.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I think Kemba probably felt there was no way the Hornets would be able to defeat Cleveland and this would be the perfect game to miss and have the team lose..that in turn, would demonstrate his importance to the Hornets.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, so now, I’m pretty sure he’ll try to come back as soon as possible.

  • KHuang

If Hairston was starting at SF, he’d probably have scored more than MKG did and defended better.

    Hairston plays well off Lin.

  • KHuang

in that regard, Kemba is just like Lin.

  • LinMad

ya i have a feeling Kemba is coming back even if his injury isn’t 100% healed yet

  • KHuang

Lin would be better at guarding Wade than MKG or Batum would be.

  • cdblue10

That’s your own opinion and I saw the game differently as you do.And I’m not just basing MKG’s performance on points alone,he can do a lot of things.

  • grover chang

Pau Gasol doesnt bring anything to defense. Blake Griffin will result in Hornets gutting their team. Whiteside is a block chaser and Miami actually does better on defense without him. David Lee – Meh. Dwight Howard is reportedly staying in Houston (and he is always injured, currently not even top 5 center). DMo is a PF by nature so not sure about him anchoring the defense. Kevin Love doesn’t play any defense. Tyson Chandler is on a rapid decline. Mozgov proved this season he got overpaid. I would entertain Monroe, Noah, or Horford as possible choices right now although Hortford is getting old.

You must have fallen down the stair this morning.

  • Arsenium12 .

Here’s an early, insightful comment about Lin that has proven very true. It’s from the NY Post (Feb. 22, 2012) :

“[Jeremy] Lin โ€ฆ has sparked a phenomenon known as Linsanity โ€ฆ . Along the way, heโ€™s also shown an uncanny ability to win friends โ€” even among opponents. Nets forward Kris Humphries said, โ€œItโ€™s nice to see great things happen for nice people.โ€ ”

  • Dorothy

    Pardon me lol

  • kauaiblue

Ur not creating controversy… ur saying what is obvious!

  • Linzen

    Wut!!?? lol

  • kauaiblue

    Walkers strength is a weakness.

  • kauaiblue

One of the best Backup? Cant they just say hes awesome for ince without qualifiers?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

You can say because of starvation, some North Korean people had to eat rats. BUT you can’t ask did Kim J Ill help his people to become the great survivor. That’s dumb.

  • Linzen

Okay, I see what you’re getting at. If you put it this way, then the question should be, “Did Jeremy improve even in BS’s system?”
Cause Jeremy certainly learned to become a more complete player. But, with BS’s help? H*** no!!

Hope you understand our sentiment. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Alain Gervais

hahahahahaha. Lin going through the worst year of his life made himself better as well as his trainers. So yes since BS made the year so horrible for Lin he improved but id argue if Lin had Cliff last year he would be better now. Bs cant develop player.Cliff has shown he can. Lin often gives Cliff and the hornets assistant coaches credit for his defense.

  • Alain Gervais

It will be interesting to see how much Cliff plays Lin with Kemba back

  • kauaiblue

    Stud.

  • Linzen

I agree. KW probably think this is THE game to rest because the team will lose anyway.
But now, he will come back as soon as possible. If there was a game tonight, he would be playing tonight. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Rick Johnson

Kemba and Al Jefferson for Greg Monroe?

    https://twitter.com/buckssportspage/status/695401283440619520

  • Linzen

    JLin for MCW?

  • yellowshadow

i definitely think kobe and carmelo’s mentorship has helped lin mature *throws up* darn trolls man…

  • Dorothy

    Jefferson is still injured…

  • Alain Gervais

no MCw is not that good

  • Alain Gervais

bucks do need a pg but Lin is on a 1 year deal so hornets won’t get much for him. Also MCw isn’t that good

  • Rick Johnson

I think Hornets need a rim protector and are interested in Monroe. I think they were interested in Ed Davis but didn’t get him last year so trying to get one now.

  • Alain Gervais

If they are the need to give either KW or al and another player

  • Rick Johnson

Maybe they take Jefferson as an expiring contract to unload Monroe’s 3 year deal. Look at that Hollinger’s Analysis, increases the Hornets projected wins by 8 wins !!

  • Rick Johnson

What’s Patrick Beverley’s skill? Breaking someones knees?

    https://twitter.com/AlexKennedyNBA/status/695413053035163650

  • yellowshadow

that’s the best nba has to offer for the skills challenge? smh…

  • Yascar

Well this is interesting. Bucks are openly looking to trade MCW and Monroe. I would imagine Hornets want Monroe but what would Bucks want in return?? Jason Kidd has always liked Jeremy but I think Hornets know they’d be stupid to let him go right now.

  • yellowshadow

no way in h*** you’ll be able to do 1 for 1 trade, hornets gotta add a sweetener.

  • sport

The most ridiculous thing is that last year Pat Bev actually won the rising star PG challenge even though he couldn’t dribble and kept missing the pass but he was the first to hit the 3.

  • yellowshadow

for real.. i love pBev’s heart, but he is overglorified 3 and D player whose defense is actually not as good as he is hyped out to be and was used by clutchfans just to oust jeremy out of the starter position.

  • sport

You can thank Morey the snake and Rockets the racist liars and organization for that!

  • Rick Johnson

Who would they give up as a sweetener Lamb? Kaminsky? Lin?

  • sport

It’s at least better than the previous NBA figures where the face shape and feature didn’t look like him at all.

  • sport

I think you mean the ball chucking zone right? making only 13 out of 30 is not exactly “in the zone”, it’s called volume shooting and loses more games than winning! Seriously I don’t even think KD chucks 28-30 shots every game and if he does, he certainly would make most of them and not barely even half!

  • sport

It’d have to be someone they barely play.

  • Rick Johnson

But then the Bucks wouldn’t want them.

  • Dorothy

HaHa, because he is a STARTER!!!

  • Yascar

For real, Houston must have ahem “special connections” to get Pat Bev in there.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Last time was the only time I watched this challenge because of Lin. Very Boring.

  • Alain Gervais

im not one to say something that would never happen but a Kw for greg monroe trade. starters Lin datum MKg Zeller Monroe

  • yellowshadow

hawes or zeller is all i can think of that bucks may bite on. even marvin, but id much rather hornets keep him. lamb is too much for this trade. kaminsky is going to be coddled by the franchise. lin’s contract makes him unappeasing. to be honest, it may take 3 teams to make the deal work.

  • sport

I watched last year’s all-star challenges, best part was definitely dunk contest, zach lavine’s dunks were all perfect.

  • Arsenium12 .

I think Pat Beverley is included because he won the competition last year.

    NBA SKILLS COMPETITION: GUARDS
    Patrick Beverley, Rockets (2015 winner)
    C.J. McCollum, Trail Blazers
    Jordan Clarkson, Lakers
    Isaiah Thomas, Celtics

NBA SKILLS COMPETITION: BIG MEN (new competition)
    DeMarcus Cousins, Kings
    Anthony Davis, Pelicans
    Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves
    Draymond Green, Warriors

    NBA 3-POINT COMPETITION CONTESTANTS
    Kyle Lowry, Raptors
    Khris Middleton, Bucks
    Stephen Curry, Warriors (2015 champion)
    Klay Thompson, Warriors
    Devin Booker, Suns
    J.J. Redick, Clippers
    Chris Bosh, Heat
    James Harden, Rockets

  • sws94

He’s had efficient shooting games. Not lately, but earlier in the season he strung together a bunch of them.

  • sws94

So some on the Hornets boards seem to think the new closing lineup is Kemba, Lin, Batum, MKG and Cody or Frank and think Marv will be benched, not Lin. I think we’ll know more in the coming games if Kemba and Batum play in them.

  • DX

MW is better on D and 3s now. Would rather him over Batum. Anyway, Lin will be back to bench after Kemba come back.

  • lleepar
  • sport

After last game hopefully it will change MJ’s mind and ask to start Lin as PG!

  • Dorothy

    WOW, this is HUGE…

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

So who will guard opposition power-forward if it’s the case?

The best option would be MKG, but I would think that in closing situation, you would want MKG on the best wing player?..For example, when playing the Bulls, you’d want MKG on Butler….

so if it’s the 5 that will finish game, does that mean Batum guards opposition PF?

I’m not sure whether you’d want Batum guarding PF, although I do believe you can get away with letting guard some PF who aren’t good low-post scorers…I wouldn’t want Batum to guard Bosh, Love, Porzingis, good rebounders like Nene for that matter.

The fact that MKG is not yet a shooter may open up the option of moving him one spot up to power-forward, but you loses the chances of keeping in check opposition best wing players..Guys like Butler, Lebron, Wade, Giannis, Beal.

  • Dorothy

Did you all read that Hornets and Bucks trade is about sending Kemba to Bucks!!!

  • sport

Of course that’d be the best but whether not Cho and MJ will have the guts to do it, is a different story. It’s logical to trade Kemba but politics always prevents the logical choices. Really hope MJ sees that this team is much better with Kemba hogging the ball and chucking shots.

BREAKING: #BucksHornetsTrade talks would send Kemba & Kaminsky to #Bucks for Monroe, Bayless, 2018 1st round pick- per league source

  • Alain Gervais

    what?????

  • sport

Legit or Rumor?!! Please be TRUE!!!

  • Alain Gervais

    i just proposed this

  • Alain Gervais

    omg omg omg

  • Alain Gervais

    not oppose ..proposed

  • sport

Alain we’ve all been “wishing” this since last game!

  • joyce ward
  • Alain Gervais

    lol is this real life

  • Briiick

At least we have heard the rumor about a KW trade, so that he is no longer untouchable.

  • DX

    It means Lin will stay?

  • Dorothy

My goodness, that Taiwan site is accurate after all.

  • Alain Gervais

most likely unless they go for another PG

  • sport

I’m happy but won’t get my hopes up until this is actually confirmed! Hornets loves Kaminsky it’s hard to believe they’d trade him but who knows.

  • Brewkowski

What happened to T. Thomp$on? Only 4 rebounds, 4 points and 0 blocked shots in 34 mins? Hornets really whooped them on the boards.

  • Alain Gervais

This is all rumors I’m gonna relax until it gets serious

  • sport

Pretty sure, if not why trade Walker? Unless they’re making room for Westbrook in FA but this trade would be too early right?

  • sws94

Lin goes to the bench after the start, yes. But this is about Lin in the closing lineup. MKG replaces PJ who never closed. Lin was closing most of the games. Will that change? Some Hornet board fans think it is Marv, not Lin, that goes to the bench in the closing lineup.

  • sws94

    Really? Wow.

  • DX

There will be too much changes for Hornets. They can’t find anyone better than Lin especially same price and already show the chemistry.

  • Alain Gervais

yea. Plus lin is really happy here

  • DX

Westbrook won’t come to Hornets. He will choose big market.

  • Brewkowski

why the heck would WB go play in Charlotte? From OKC to CLT? don’t see that happening.

  • sws94

I don’t like losing Kaminsky though. Bayless is a PG, I guess he’d be backup to Lin in this scenario. I just can’t see them trading Kemba. I thought it would more be Al, Tyler, Daniels, players like that.

  • sport

If MJ really wants to prove he’s smarter then we think, he needs to give Lin the max contract so he’d be given the keys to the team! With Lin as main PG and ball handler, teamball will be “mandatory” and playoffs will be “guaranteed”! I mean come on you don’t let Lin go after making the Cavs team led by Lebron and Kyrie look like fools!

  • Yascar

    Whatttt???

  • heart

I’m glad to see your post today. Per your earlier request for data and offer to write a complaint letter to the NBA on excessive and unnecessary hard fouls on Lin, I was wondering if you saw @JAD2456 posting on the compilation of videos and data of non-fouls calls on Lin. @JAD2456 data was posted was on thread G46 CHA@UTAH game thread from 8 days ago.

  • DX

    Bayless is a SG, right?

  • Alain Gervais

10 million. Cap space goes up next year. so 10 mill will be the new 8 million

  • Alain Gervais

They won’t take Al. His game doesn’t fit in the modern nba

  • sws94

6 foot 3 and he is listed as shooting guard. You’re right. I thought he played PG also.

  • Brewkowski

    PG

  • Alain Gervais

no he is a PG. i don’t want Roberts as a back up. His defense is bad

  • Alain Gervais

    yup

  • Ulysses Modder

Not only rumor. Bucks Sports Page wrote yesterday about trading Bucks and only today the other sites spoke. They have information.

  • heart

Really? I think it was @JohnFocker who brought up the rumor about KW’s trade a few days ago… Where are you John?

  • Briiick

    Agreed ! 10Million+ or it’s just a trick.

  • sport

Daniels is a 3 point specialist, very valuable especially comes playoff time! But yes Kaminsky is valuable and hard to come by, I wouldn’t trade him if I was Hornets!

  • LinMad

wow this is huge. I can’t wait for the day Lin actually gets to start at PG and help the team make it to playoffs.

  • james brown

Al is a goner comes FA anyway..BUT KW has a contract that can be traded (if he has no trade clause)

  • Alain Gervais

Kw doesn’t have a trade clause

  • james brown

all players are dispensable for a greater good of the team!

  • sport

8M is peanuts, no way especially with the new TV deal, cap space will sky rocket! Lin needs to ask for the max or close to max contract! Locking a big contract will help seal Lin’s rein as PG! We’ve seen so many bigger contract guys gets signed to the team when Lin gets pushed aside so he has to be smart of this new contract with Hornets!

  • Briiick

This also implies Hornets could have reached some mutual understanding regarding Lin’s next contract after last game.

  • lleepar

It all seems so improbable. I’ll be interested to see if Kemba plays tomorrow night. If he’s the subject of a potential trade, I doubt if the Hornets would let him play and risk injury (and any deal that might be on the table). I was interested to read of Kemba’s reaction today to questions about his knee. He seemed to indicate he was ready to play, but the organization put big question mark later on his availability.

  • sport

MJ and Cho there last game, hmm now it makes sense! Maybe that’s why Cho was so happy about Lin’s break out game against Cavs (help proving his point that Lin’s a star)

  • Brewkowski

    How’s Monroe’s PNR?

  • james brown

well no team is buying except houston so it their baggage to carry..LOL

  • Brewkowski

    at least $12M

  • Alain Gervais

The trade deadline is Feb 18 so 2 weeks of fun lol

  • bolero

Yup. He’s sore according to cliff

  • LinMad

Ya I can see many reasons why Hornets would want to trade Kemba. The big one being Jeremy Lin. The others are:

    1. Kemba isn’t marketable player like the other superstars in the league even when he averages 20 pts per game (not even top 10 in ASG).
    2. Not a team player, shoots too much.
    3. Cost too much. Need to create space.

I also see why they would want to trade Kaminsky. He isnt the type of big Lin would want. Lin wants someone like MKG or Greg Monroe. Not a big that plays like a guard. Lastly, this will also give them a lot of room to build for the future of Hornets. i see them trading Al in the future too and bringing in more guys that will work well in Lin’s system. They are trading for a smarter and more exciting basketball team.

  • bolero

They want to see Lin do his thing before they roll the ball. Lol

  • james brown

so its possible especially with the 50points marked and his constant ISO’s which doesn’t help the team but put it in a shamble most of the time….

not i see why Coach Cliff mentioned on his last postgame interview that” JLIN love to have the ball in his hands during crunch time”….why would cliff mention it if their franchise players loves to shoot the last shot?

and what about JLIN statement that KW is “irreplaceable”? (not reading much but maybe just to show RESPECT! i guess..:P)

  • sport

Well Al’s out for entire season and his contract ends this year. For sure Hornets will not resign him so trading Al doesn’t matter. Not like any team would want Al unless they want expiring contract for space.

  • Rick Johnson

Wow, if true MJ wasn’t kidding when he said JLin was the most important signing of the summer.

  • Rick Johnson

Cho looked really happy, enjoying the game along with the excited fans.

  • Briiick

    Haha, full suspension.

  • heart

Lin must also know something and he’s probably giving KW some support by saying that KW is “irreplaceable” in his post game on-court interview last night. When he said that word I found it kind of odd…bc in reality most NBA players are replaceable somewhat…

  • james brown

Al is a goner somehow come FA and is injured, i think No one want tyler for now, and daniels is a common 3 point man, so the best possible trade bait is Kaminsky who they always promote…

unless they want MW, which at this point can’t be equated with monroe…just saying

  • Rick Johnson

They don’t necessarily have to wait until the trade deadline.

  • james brown

    not according to KW..LOL!

  • Briiick

I think there is a gradual change of mindset for MJ from the beginning of the season to the last wonderful game.

  • Ulysses Modder

With or without trade, Kemba now know who is the new Boss in Hornets

  • LinMad

I wonder how the Kemba fans who hate Lin fans feel right now…lol. ATH will have a meltdown?

  • james brown

MJ and cho said: MAKE US ENTERTAINED, and we (MJ and CHO) will entertain you!!!!

  • Dorothy

TBH, if I were Kemba, I would feel betrayed…

  • LinMad

I now know why CHA had to play Kemba so much and let him play his style. He had to play worth the $12 mln he’s getting next season or no one will pick him up. It was a smart move after all.

  • sport

Well he got front row seats to see what Lin could do as their starting PG! I mean come on beating Lebron’s Cavs is no easy feat! They are not GSW but still Championship and Finals caliber team!

  • Briiick

Particularly MJ has been bad-mouthing LBJ for years and for the first time his team backed him up.

  • donsmacau

    Appears to be a hoax,

after reading through prior tweets it appears to be a one-man operation who closed down for 5 months and then reopened in October and has some very odd tweets. One says the Green Bay football team is interested in a Bucks basketball player.

  • LinMad

I would to but he should have known better when they got Lin in the off season. That Lin would challenge his spot on the team.

  • sport

Kemba had 4 years to prove his worth and failed. he was allowed to go iso and do whatever he wanted only to create NBA history losing records! It’s not betrayal but moving on!

  • sport

He thought he could force Lin to be bench player with FO’s bias backing like Harden and Kobe! Hopefully MJ and Cho are smarter than that!

  • LinMad

Stats don’t lie. Hornets win more with Lin as the floor general.

  • LinMad

Do you guys think Cliff will start treating Lin better after the trade? Like superstar status or will he continue to scold Lin for every mistake he makes? Either way, I think Lin keeps progressing.

  • Dorothy

    so, Kemba is not leaving?

  • heart

Guys/gals, if the rumor is true, are Hornets preparing to make Lin the face of the franchise? What does this mean for Lin and MDA reunion? Whatever it is, I pray that Linsanity 2.0 will happen, so Jeremy Lin Redemption/Comeback will truly take place…

  • james brown

if in 2 or 3 days no move has been made, its a hoax because if its true, bucks doesn’t want KW to play for risk..they are talking and KW was already had his Medical check up as a requirements for a trade..(looking at his knee??LOL)

  • Briiick

I think they hadn’t made up their mind until finding that KW still did not get in the All Star after doing so much damage to the team.

  • sport

We don’t necessarily need MDA reunion if Hornets are willing to give keys to Lin. MDA is to make sure Lin gets to be starting PG with PnR plays.

  • LinMad

if Cliff is really close to Kemba and takes this news badly, he might want to get out of Hornets and maybe MDA will replace him.

  • donsmacau

Don’t think so I read many many of his tweets and just got weird sense from his writing, lots of delusions of grandeur vibe along with a lot of rambling nonsense.

  • sport

If Lin does make mistakes I don’t mind scolding so long as Cliff is unbias. Pop scolds Duncan and Parker the most to set an example for the team.

  • james brown

it’s not MDA who made what happened to Lin that time of Linsanity, its fate and JLIN HEART..so whether its MDA (which i also want for jlin as a coach) or somebody else, no one will stop JLIN’s second part history in the making !

  • sport

If that’s the case then it will make things easier for Lin to pitch MDA as coach! Lin’s too nice to get his current coach fired even if MDA is the best choice for himself.

  • james brown

JLIN is coach-able, that’s why cliff know he can talk to him because he has no EGO!

  • LinMad

agree but there has been bias this season. I don’t really care though cause Lin is really tough mentally too.

  • blueCypher

I’m very skeptical about the source of this rumour

  • LinMad

while Lin gave the franchise more attention on the bench and helping the team.

  • cdblue10

    What did I missed?

  • heart

I know it’s fate that Linsanity even happened and the recurrence is something everyone hope for it to happen again. We know that MDA has the creativity of the 21st Century modern offense, and we know that Cliff does not. Even so, like you said, fate will make it happen. “Everything is possible with God!”

  • cdblue10

    Bad but can be trained

  • LinMad

ofc, if the trade happens, it’s because they are trading for players who compliment Lin. We saw why we were losing games right? Interior D was bad. Bigs that don’t rebound and play like guards. PGs who are actually undersized SGs and don’t help with team ball..

  • Maknusia

I think its too early to say…dont want to jump the gun now

  • LinMad

They need to keep him at starting PG. Not starting SG or reserve SG.

  • Dorothy

rumor that hornets is sending kemba to bucks

  • LinMad

I won a lot of bets in my life…

and, I’m betting that they will trade Kemba to bucks cause Hornets do really badly want to keep Jeremy Lin and make him the face of the franchise. They know if Lin leaves, it’s going to be back to the old Kemba ways. The franchise wants a change. Their policy will be “no divas.”

  • sws94

It’s a rumor and should be treated as such. And I think being skeptical is healthy.

  • Dorothy

ok, you may want to post to the top to calm people down

  • james brown

even so…..this is still good news and making a BUZZ on this forum for us to keep
tight waiting for more suspense. if its a hoax, at least for a moment a
glitter hope comes or else comes back to reality that JLIN might not
    stay with hornets comes FA.

  • ty

The “tell” was Jordan’s butt slap heard (seen) around the Lin fandom

  • cdblue10

What????lol I just post that few hours ago….

  • yellowshadow

cliff is not going anywhere. he just signed a multi-year contract and is heavily involved with the front office when it comes to moving personnel. i know a lot of you guys dont like him, but aside from MDA, cliff has been the best coach lin has ever had.

  • blueCypher

    Hornets need a defensive , rebounding 5 . I don’t think Monroe does that

  • AlexBB

Wishing all JLin fans on this exciting site a prosperous and exciting Year of the Monkey..greeting from Asia

  • donsmacau

    Reasons this potential Hoax :
    1. Tweeter appears 1 man fly by night operation-hiatus for 5 mo summer/fall, strange tweets, rambling nonsense
    2. Overturns 5 years of Hornet’s planning & preparation in molding team for Kemba would be unprecedented
    3. Coach Jason KIdd (pre-HallofFame) point guard to want Kemba a player that cannot/does not possess ANY of the skills that made Kidd great – nearly unbelievable
    4. Timing is too rushed – first they didn’t know until last night JLIN could WIN and how do you do talk to MJ and Bucks so soon.
    5. Trades don’t match in terms of salary and plus Hornets giving up a 1st round draft pick to make the economics works seem far fetched
Sure there are many more reasons this is likely a hoax.

  • LinMad

only problem is that FO doesn’t have Kemba’s back. I don’t think they ever did. How can you when you were one of the worse teams in the conference last few seasons? In fact, Kemba is a 3 mln salary player this year. They never viewed him as a superstar until it was all manufactured by FO. No way is Kemba outshining Lin in any aspect of his game or out of game. Lin draws the fans and FO likes that. He also plays for the team which FO likes a lot.

  • John Focker

When I was talking about a possible Kemba trade a couple of days ago, I was laughed and ridiculed. Just saying.

  • heart

Thank you. Happy New Year to you too! Many best wishes to you!

  • cdblue10

No he’s not but he can help inside the paint and he can be Lin’s Davis or poor man’s TC

  • yellowshadow

could be a stunt to vault other teams into making offers. i dont even know if monroe is the one we need.

  • james brown

its a buck follower so they are saying Hornets are making the first move.

  • donsmacau

    Or just a crazy hoaxster

  • donsmacau

A Bucks follower and Kemba Walker fan.

  • Brewkowski

Hope so, can’t train the current bigs…

  • Briiick

This could generate a lot of noise in Hornets’ fans and if the management doesn’t come up with some PR then there could be a real trade involving some of them.

  • CJSHYY

I think this rumor more like it’s Bucks wishing list… But I doubt Hornets wants to trade Kemba.. bc Lin said in his post game interview on court side yesterday. Kemba is irreplaceable…..

  • heart

Read the tweets from Bucks Sports Page twitter handle. Here’s the link: https://twitter.com/buckssportspage

  • yellowshadow

there’s a possibility. mcw trade has restructured their team for the worst and monroe hasnt really fit into the system. bucks were a #2 defensive team last year, but they are one of the worst in the league right now. kemba is ripe for picking with his stock at all time high… but i agree there are no valid trade options that would benefit either team.

  • donsmacau

I read many many of his tweets Heart, that is how I made the impression that he has delusions of grandeur and a very odd vibe from his writings.

  • John Focker

MJ was right there for the 52pt game, and he sure didn’t look very happy nor he patted Kemba’s butt. That was an indication of showcasing for the Jazz, and the statpad was to pump up Kemba’s trade value. Hornets have coddled Kemba for far too long with no return, and are ready to cut losses and cut loose. Only “outstanding” record Kemba brought Charlotte were the 18L and 23L losing streaks in 2012 and 2013.

  • heart

    Thanks for the heads up.

  • John Focker

Cliff’s likely sick of Kemba at this point. The last 2OT gave away clear indications of a trend: Kemba breaking plays. His repeated offense has lost him (Kemba) the team’s trust and respect, Kemba can no longer run the team, nor is Cliff happy about him running it, not any longer.

  • John Focker

Glad you remembered, I was not too happy about being mocked for posting that.

Whether Kemba ends up being traded or not, it’s distinct possibility. And if Kemba stayed, it would NOT be because of lack of will on Hornets’ end.

  • heart

I thought about you right away when this rumor broke. You had informed us days ago. Thanks.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I am choosing to stay tune but this would be a very good trade for the Hornets if it’s true.

Yes, I agree Kemba’s value is at all time high. But if the head coach Kidd has any say, he would know that Kemba doesn’t possess any of the skills that made Kidd a Hall of Fame point guard (court vision, passing ability, unselfishness etc…) just very difficult to swallow unless they want Kemba as shooting guard but he’s too small.

  • sport

I agree but so far we haven’t trusted Cliff due to his catering to Walker cause of politics and FO orders. Also we’ve see so many of Cliff’s bad coaching and minutes management. Though so far he’s given Lin the most minutes and freedom since MDA even though he gets benched due to bias or politics.

  • james brown

should have made it now, because they need to quiet their followers and if its true , they won’t say anything.

  • james brown

we haven’t heard of a coach trade, or did we?

  • Lam

You win some and you will lose some.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Totally agree with you….this source is not legit…doesn’t mean this trade won’t eventually occur, but I wouldn’t give a source that we’ve never heard of much credence…Have they gotten trade right before?…Impossible to know.

Again, if these guys knows something is going on between the Bucks and the Hornets, you’d think other well-known NBA source would have been all over this rumor as well.

I say this is a hoax to get traffics.

  • Hope

What… Is that y kw wasn’t at the game last night?

  • james brown

[KW is Irreplaceable] is JLIN’s political statement, doesn’t want to burn bridges with KW, just in case…(i read it that way)

  • sport

Yup! Even coaches can be traded look at Doc Rivers!

  • CJSHYY

    He’ll be back tomorrow.

2 weeks before trade deadline, lets up our wish comes true and Hornets and MJ are willing to take the plunge! Except if Hornets are willing to trade Kemba then why did MJ give him that Jordan shoe deal? That just doesn’t make sense.

  • yellowshadow

doc rivers’s case is different though. front office had made it very clear that celtics were going through a complete rebuild and gave rivers, pierce, allen, and garnett all options on where they wanted to go.

  • sport

Yes but in past wins even when Lin was starting SG with Batum out he still helped the team go on winning streak!

Yep. And Kemba and Kam are MJ’s draft picks. The more I think about it the more it does NOT make sense. We’re in wait and see mode. Anything can happen…

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I think Kidd would probably rather take Lin instead of Kemba.

  • JoeTeam

Y’all are the best. I got busy and missed the best game of the season love that JLin personally beat CLE for MJ. Thanks for all the shares and links here so I didn’t miss the live action too much.

    Amazing!

  • james brown

    that will be the truth!!!LOL

  • donsmacau

JLIN is cut in the exact mold of Jason Kidd, Kidd has had to defend JLIN personally during Linsanity and got beat by JLIN as a player and a coach.

Exactly correct, he should want JLIN and not Kemba.

  • JoeTeam

heh heh. Bucks are hinting at Greg Monroe … is he a guy to help JLin?

  • lleepar

This reminds me of a dust-up over on the RealGM board about a year and a half ago. A poster suddenly dumped the news that Jason Kidd would be leaving his coaching job with the Nets to become the head coach of the Bucks. The whole RealGM board chewed on this for hours, waiting for a “credible” source, and mainly dumping on the poster as someone who really didn’t have any inside information. Then … Jason Kidd went to the Bucks. The poster turned out to be a one-hit wonder, but his information was right on the mark for his one scoop. We’ll see if the Bucks tweeter has a legitimate source. If Kemba plays tomorrow night, that’ll be the end of the rumor for me.

  • Pete Roces

rumors are mostly smoke screen, but who knows?

Always feel Lin won’t stay in Hornets. Hornets has taken big advantage this year. He will opt out for sure after this season. His contract will have a big increase. Any team give Lin an offer, Hornets won’t match since Hornets is a small market and cheap on salary. Lin should back to like LA or NY big city.

  • NONONO

What trade? I wonder it comes from a Kemba fan or Lin hater who just wants to mess up with Lin fans after yesterday’s big win. I think Kemba will start tomorrow, Lin will go back to bench. Lin has accepted the arrangement.

  • sws94

Teams don’t respond to rumors as there are plenty of them every year.

  • sws94

Players are used to hearing trade rumors and he may not even hear of this one.

  • sws94

Lin is a sub-starter. And a great one. He’s going back to his usual position and role when the player he subbed for is fit to play.

  • cdblue10

With the modern social media and technology,I bet some of his closest friends and family are asking the same.

  • If the rumor is true, Kemba might still play to show that he’s healthy enough to score 30+pts to seal the deal.

The thing is the FO calls around all the time but nothing is certain yet.
    The timing is very curious.

  • sws94

He’s getting his treatments and preparing for the next game. Players aren’t going to spend much time caring about internet rumors.

  • Rick Johnson

I think some of them do it for the exposure to try to get into other careers in entertainment. Paula Abdul was a Laker Girl. Vanessa Curry was a Laker Girl and became a Pussycat Doll. If you look at their profiles I’d say a third of them want to be in broadcasting and many sportscasting as their dream job.

  • cdblue10

Who would think that Rondo would be traded to Kings?and this just started w/ some twitter rumors.

  • sws94

This one seems not as legit as some others. Remember so many about Lin while being a Rocket? None of them happened. That’s the way it is with most trade rumors.

I don’t think much of them until they happen or someone with a real track record of reporting them talks about them. And that’s not this source.

  • JoeTeam

    ok. watch or d/l … wish I had a T1.

  • sws94

That’s the exception, not the rule. And Rondo was a mess with the Mavs. Most trade rumors amount to nothing.

  • NONONO

Wrong. Lin could be a good starter right now for at least 5 teams including Hornets and help them make the playoffs. But, Clifford will not start Lin over Kemba. It is MJ’s business decision and nothing to do with Lin’s pg talent.

  • cdblue10

Can’t just shake some rumors especially with the timing and expressions of FO’s and owners after the game

  • sws94

There is no timing, imo. It’s trade talks time and rumors come out. That’s all I see. MJ has been at a lot of Hornets games and this was a big one. Cho has been at some as well. When Lin played a Boston game as a Rocket in Boston I remember top honchos there and the fans thinking he’d be traded to Boston. Didn’t happen.

  • JoeTeam

dang, return to the ugly playground game.

  • sws94

I’m not wrong and I’m not saying anything about who he could start for. On the Hornets, he only starts to sub for a player that is injured. That’s a fact, that’s not wrong. When they come back from injury Lin comes off the bench again.

  • Yascar

Yey! They are shipping internationally now!

  • cdblue10

I hope it is true so that Lin can become the face of Hornets team,Kemba can still be the franchise for Bucks though it it’s true….LOL

  • Briiick

  • yes, unless Woj or a big names breaks the news, I won’t sweat too much about it.
There will be so many rumors for click-baits.
That’s just the way it works

  • sws94

He’s not JUST a bench sub. He’s an extremely valued player that is counted on to sub for two of Hornets best players. He’s also a designated game closer.

  • cdblue10

Who are the 2 best players of Hornets?OMG,I’m prolly watching other ball games because right now,I think MKG and Lin are the best players of Hornets.

  • sws94

I think Lin came to the Hornets for a lower profile. Still, he’s highly promoted by Charlotte, and I think not only because of his marketability. He’s a huge producer on the court and a great role model doing excellent work in the Charlotte community now.

  • sws94

I don’t know. MKG and Lin in the last game for sure. Lin is a vital contributor to wins, that’s all that really matters for me now.

  • sws94

He does so much good. It’s amazing. He has a huge heart.

  • sport

One of those games I will tune out if Lin doesn’t start.

  • cdblue10

Can we say that for Kemba and Batum as well, that they’re a vital contributor for Hornets wins.

  • JoeTeam

And I will be doing the same with soup noodles I hope.

  • sws94

Some games. I think both are struggling lately, they helped in wins earlier in the season.

  • sws94

If Kemba plays, Lin doesn’t start. Looks more likely Kemba is playing.

  • cdblue10

THey were really struggling to the extent that they’re failing Hornets for a lot of games. If not for Kemba’s volume shooting he will be just an slight upgrade for Roberts

  • NONONO

I could not agree with you more. Lin and MKG are very motivated defenders and team ball players. Lin + MKG + Marvin + Cody + Lamb can be the best starting lineup to make playoff. Kemba and Batum’s scores cannot makeup their weak defense, TOs and the damages on teammates’ motivation.

  • John Focker

    My ideal lineup:
    PG: Lin/Roberts (and/or veteran PG trade-in…maybe Mo?)
    SG: Lamb/Daniels
    SF: MKG/Batum/PJ
    PF: Marv/Ed Davis
    C: Hawes/Kam/Cody

  • travis

idk if the rumor is true, but if charlotte can pull a trade for a big like monroe or preferably an athletic big, things can get intresting in playoffs with lin leading the charge

  • John Focker

Kemba’s taking a big chance, if he starts and Hornets lose to the Heat, it’d be a really bad contrast to Lin starting and beating the Cavs. That being said, he’s kind of between a rock and a hard place. He’s already lost the team as it is, and it’d only get worse if two or three more Linsanity games were to happen during his absence. Doomed if he returns, and doomed if he doesn’t.

Ok I just rewatched the entire game except when Lin was out. The game wasn’t as amazing as I first thought it was mainly because Lin wasn’t featured as the no.1 offense(which he should). Throughout the game Lin was forced to run offense for MKG and Batum. Besides a few screens or bail out passes from 2nd chance opportunities, many shots and points were created by Lin himself! Lin still doesn’t get enough PnR for 3s and his shots! Especially towards end of 4th, many points were from Lin charging towards the basket, faking, and then shooting a mid range 2 or close shot near the rim.

  • bolero

    another highlights
    https://youtu.be/Y4kJz9ZUzpg

  • blubell

Haha. You’re more korean than me sometimes lol

  • Good observation.

It’s true not much set plays were set up for Lin. Zeller tried to set screen but it wasn’t as good as MW or Psycho T would’ve done it. There was a good set play when Nic passed to a cutting Lin to the rim. I’m hard pressed to remember others.

But the way JLin had to take over in the last 3 min was tremendous and it was MJ-like.
That’s why MJ got up and had to breathe a sigh of relief taking off his hat since JLin had to create the shot for himself in various ways, reminiscent to how MJ did in the past. But MJ’s way was sheer athleticism and patented fadeway jumpshots. JLin’s ways were clever and effective in the last 3 min.

I got a lot of enjoyment watching MJ got up, clapped when JLin harrassed Kyrie getting the inbound until he lost it out-of-bound, signed the other way. When the GOAT got fired up to win against LeBron, it made it special when JLin delivered the W.

JLin loved his team-ball but he had to …*gasp* ISOs to get the W like an All-Star would in crunch time .. after Zeller botched the difficult passes into 2 TOs.

All stars would need the ability to score by himself during crunch time. This is the 1st game that JLin proved to MJ that he can do it. Noone knows if MJ would make a sweet offer to JLin to stay but this is a game that MJ will remember that JLin led his Hornets to break the 6 year drought vs LeBron and the Cavs. JLin aced his audition as the lead PG!

  • aras

Why do people on this forum constantly bash kemba and put Lin on top of a podium? Charlotte needs kemba and they need Lin as well. bashing kemba 24/7 saying he has lost the team and what not. Is Lin happy here? because if he is then what point is it for people on this forum to make a big deal of kemba vs Lin. If lin continues to play like this then it wont matter because he will get his. If not in charlotte then somewhere else, but it must tiring for the mind to always be posting the same kemba stuff over and over again.

  • sws94

The part of the game that was amazing wasn’t so much Lin’s points or that this was a most spectacular Lin effort but his directing and inspiring the team along with MKG. The team played with more purpose, energy, went for offensive rebounds, looked to pass, look to play defense more. In transitions, guys moved more so Lin found them a few times. There were more transition baskets. The team had a different feel to it, more like a Linsanity team than the team we were used to watching. Lin changed speeds and flow and used most of the team, the ball didn’t stay stuck to one side. All of that was inspired and orchestrated by Lin. That’s what was amazing and really good about this game.

And it broke a streak that LBJ had dominated which few believed could happen. With MJ right there to watch it. It was a wonderful game from that standpoint.

  • I agree. The way MKG dove to the floor, hustled, dominated with 7 rebs in 1st quarter was amazing.
Definitely reminds us of the excitement of teamball that the original Linsanity phenomenon brought in 2012

MJ didn’t just watch it. He was in suspense, yelled at LeBron getting unfair refs call, took off and put on his hat again as JLin made his clutch shot, pointed gleefully for Hornets possession when JLin caused Kyrie to lose his ball, then can’t wait to give a spirited butt-slap to congratulate JLin.

I’m an MJ fan from his glory days so I’m thrilled when the GOAT got excited over Lin’s winning plays LOL

  • Some people didn’t like excessive Kemba ISOs here due to many recent losses but many also appreciate his great scoring skills when balanced with team-ball.

All the Hornets need is to have a balanced offense, strong defense/rebounding to reach the playoff. They’re #9 at the moment with only 1.5 game behind so they are on the right track with MKG back & more teamball.
And Clifford might have already stopped to rely on Kemba ISOs with 40+min stints & 20+ FGAs because Kemba’s knee couldn’t take that much pounding. For whatever reason, they wanted to pursue Kemba All-Star chase but it backfired when losses mounted.

Hopefully more balanced offense will make it less about Kemba vs Lin but more about chasing the playoff without relying on solely 1 player. JLin and the Hornets need each other to reach the playoff because winning will solve a lot of problems.

    So much truth:

Why Jeremy Lin Is A Better Floor General Than Kemba Walker
    http://www.morningnewsusa.com/jeremy-lin-better-floor-general-kemba-walker-2356084.html

  • Warren

nobody is saying Kemba is not a good player. the guy averages 20 ppg. everyone has a problem with the FACT that Kemba doesn’t get his teammates involved. that is supposed to be the job of a floor general.

  • Acbc

It’s not Kemba vs Lin, it’s Kemba vs the team! A player that plays for himself is a cancer on the team. KW take way too many shots for the points he makes for the team. When he does that, he freezes out everyone. He doesn’t defend or do any of the heavy lifting while always tries to score for himself. It’s KW that has pitted himself against his teammates.

This last game was a prime example of teammates playing hard for one another. They were unleashed. They were energized. They fought hard for one another because no one was icing them out of the fun stuff on offence. Team ball is only happening when KW doesn’t hog the ball. It’s Kemba vs the team!

  • Acbc

That train is the Lin express comin thru. All aboard were the 12 guys riding high octane jet fuel.

My ideal line up would be:
    Lin Kemba
    Batum Lamb
    MKG

That team can handle the bigger teams out there. That team can also run and defend. Kemba can come off the bench and become instant offense, and probably close. We get to hide his short self against second teams offense.

  • Phillycheese

  • your son’s voltaire

    KHuang started a vicious rumor

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I can’t believe you guys really believe this stuff…No one is reporting any such talk between the Bucks and the Hornets..

You gotta ask yourself how can an unknown source like this one be reporting such a huge trade rumors…What kind of connection does he have that the other well-known NBA sources doesn’t have?

Be realistic for a moment, this is not happening…If the Hornets trade Walker, it’d probably be in the off-season…I think they keep him until than…Maybe they trade Kemba if they weren’t in the play-off hunt, but I don’t see it now when they have a realistic chance of making it into the playoff.

  • Spot

Everything’s possible but it’s just a rumour on a twitter account. So there’s nothing really to talk about.

Anyway, we will see. I still don’t believe Hornets trade Kemba to make Jeremy a franchise player.

  • John Focker

While I agree with the lineup, realistically Kemba will NOT back up the PG who took away both his job and status. Al’s knees still question mark until proven otherwise.

  • adele

What I really like on this game is the time when MKG was really listening sincerely to Lin while they were sitting at the bench early on the 4rh quarter. Lin was kind of directing him where to go. I’m sure these two will have great chemistry because MKG listens to him and respects him.

  • adele

    Without going OT.

  • adele

You should try dim sum soup it’s really good!

  • donsmacau

If Kemba was asked to lead Hornets against the Cavaliers 10 times how many times would the team WIN?
(not sure how many previous times but he never won 0-??) But now I ask with THIS roster.

    JLIN is 1 for 1

Now you can say well the team was only partially healthy still missing Al and uhh…………Kemba.

  • JoeTeam

    Exaaactly!

  • JoeTeam

I don’t feel a need to be nice to kemba when he’s playing selfish ball and not running plays that the coach drew up. Bbal is a team sport and I’ll keep expecting him to play that standard. People gotta be accountable.

  • JoeTeam

Huo guo! Xing nian kuai le.

  • cdblue10

If Kemba will play accordingly w/ team aspect of the game a lot of fans will definitely like him,but the guy is just playing for himself.Kemba is not a special player with the way he think he is,he needs to share the ball.

  • Barry Allen

It will probably keep going on til Lin get a starting PG spot somewhere because he definitely deserves it.

Before then, any PG that starts over him on a team will be compared to Lin and most of the time fall seriously short. It is just that Lin has the x-factor that can carry a team and make them a cohesive winning team and he does it primarily from the PG position as the dominant facilitator.

Think about it, if a guard started over Nash in his prime they would be picked apart continually.

  • joyce ward

I think the Kemba rumor is kind of interesting. Whether it’s true or not, somebody put it out there, and I have yet seen Charlotte to deny it confirm it. Perhaps it was put out there to shake up Kemba/Kaminisky because of their selfish style of ball play. Somebody even said that Kemba was not even on the bench. Who knows, perhaps MJ is trying to make a run for the playoff, and Kemba/AL/MGK have not been the magic formula in the past. Who knows what’s true. I think Charlotte fans that actually attend the game(not internet bullies) actually like lin. Charlotte, NC prides itself on southern hospitality, strict moral standards, and bible built principles of humility, which lin represents all of that. Charlotte has a love-hate relationship with Cam Newton in some of his antics on and off the field. It is all about perspective. Anyway just my two cents.LOL

But I don’t believe it til I don’t see it.

  • KHuang

I have not seen ANY Lin bashing from Charlotte fans since the first third of the season.

  • joyce ward

Go the the Charlotte Real GM. It’s not bashing so much as it,”but lin needs to”, attitude.

  • KHuang

Before Lin was a Hornet, this is what I did:

    1) I endorsed Lamb
    2) I endorsed Hansbrough
    3) I endorsed Bayless
    4) I endorsed Kaminsky
    5) I BASHED Walker
    6) I BASHED MKG
    7) I was lukewarm on Jefferson
    8) I endorsed Batum at SF
    9) I was lukewarm on Monroe

  • KHuang

Huh, what “vicious rumor” did I start?

I have not written a word about this alleged “trade”.

Since I haven’t read about it on hoopshype or NBA.com, I’m not taking it seriously at the moment.

Now the Bucks trading Monroe and MKG? That IS serious, though Charlotte might not be involved.

  • joyce ward

I think it is hilarious that the Cavalier’s are still stunned that Charlotte beat them and they are making all kind of excuses for their bad play. They just didn’t plan well for Charlotte. They thought LBJ would somehow pull it out in the end. They didn’t count on lin coming in and dominating. Lin was making smart plays, and LBJ knows it. The defensive pressure that they put on the Cavs was awesome. The Cavs didn’t think that llin would be this kind of threat to them and they still refused to acknowledge after half time, when the Cavs didn’t adjust their game. It is interesting that LBJ is so arrogant that he is won’t even acknowledge that they just got beat by a team that wanted the win more. LOL, BTW, I still think Charlotte could have baet them in the beginning of the season, if it had not been for “kemba ball”.

  • KHuang

Oh, I don’t go there much.

Besides, we here are the ULTIMATE BASHMASTERS of “Lin needs to”!

I’m gleefully guilty too, especially when I taunt “ERRORME LIN” after free throw bricks!

  • Brent Yen

    LMAO “ULTIMATE BASHMASTERS”

  • Brent Yen

Happy CNY to everyone who observes it!

  • BobbyH

    Happy CNY !!!

  • joyce ward

Happy Chinese New year to you too

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I totally agree Cav…..” They didn’t count on lin coming in and dominating. Lin was making smart plays…” I am very happy that Lin finally beat LBJ since that Heat game during Linsanity…. Haha!

  • KHuang

From a tactical standpoint, I can understand why Cavs fans (and likely players) are so befuddled by the Charlotte game.

Cleveland’s main strength is in Lebron James drawing double teams that pull defenders off other Cavs players.

However, Lebron ran into something that’s unique in the NBA: the NBA’s best defensive guard in Linsanity.

Unlike any other guard in the NBA, Lin can drop over to double Lebron or Love while also playing honest defense on Kyrie Irving. This allows Charlotte’s other defenders to fully contest their men without being pulled out of their roles.

The Charlotte coaching staff seemed to have made an open decision to let Lin drop down into the lanes to assist other players even if Irving was going to get his. And Irving DID, as Irving was the best player for the Cavs and had an excellent game “beating up” on Lin. But nobody else on the Cavs went off because Lin played his bonecrushing defense and that set the tone for the entire game.

And then offensively, Lin wrecked the Cavs singlehandedly the way only a MVP like Curry can do.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Whether you started it or not doesn’t matter. You are on, buddy! Say more about this trade and you will be given more credits of spreading vicious rumors.
But what makes this rumor vicious!!!! I still don’t get it.

  • KHuang

    LIN SUCKS!!!

  • CJSHYY

    Happy CNY to you too.

  • KHuang

Oh, “vicious” is not necessarily a bad thing!

  • KHuang

Why do I gleefully bash Walker and not Lin?

Because Walker is a SELFISH ISO DEFENSELESS LOSER WHO BREAKS SET PLAYS AND REFUSES TO PLAY TEAMBALL, that’s why!!!

The NBA is littered with SCRUBS of this nature that wreck their teams with their stupid loser play.

I only endorse WINNERS, and Lin is a winner!

  • KHuang

    i i d-don’t celebrate it

    chinese SCROOGE

  • joyce ward

Does anybody think Charlotte is rethinking signing Batum to a max deal?

  • KHuang

    Batum does!!!

  • Brent Yen

I think he is not gonna get a MAX from CLT…

  • CJSHYY

I think they will sign Batum & he will stay…

  • spiderman

They didn’t lose for a lack of trying. Hawes, Kaminsky, Zeller and Lin had scratch marks to prove it.

Cavaliers should change their name to Cleveland Scratchers

  • KHuang

I’M saying that Kemba is “not a good player”.

For a player to be “good” in my book, he has to generate more points than he gives up and not deliberately sabotage his teammates and coaches by freezing people out and refusing to play team basketball on either end of the court.

So NO, I don’t think Kemba Walker is a good player. He is THE reason Charlotte has struggled the last 5 seasons and this season as well!

  • NONONO

I am not sure he gets along with other players. Plus (minus?) he has been so off after toe injury. Can you imagine if he had knee, shoulder or ankle issues ?

  • NONONO

I can see MKG has higher value than Batum. Lin and MKG are both highly motivated offense and defense players to change the games. Batum has not proved he is clutch player or game changer, his max would be just what he has +- 3mils

  • KHuang

WE didn’t count on Lin coming in and dominating!

  • KHuang

Before the season started, I wrote that “Batum would be worse than Lance Stephenson at SG” and that “Lin would be forced to play SG because nobody else is skilled or experienced enough on Charlotte to do it!”

  • spiderman

MKGs effort compliments Lin. He puts out. His energy pesters

  • Brewkowski

He is injury prone. He’s only played one season, 2013-14, where he played every game. He’s a very good player but he’s playing out of position and seems uncomfortable as SG. I think CLT wants to resign him but not sure too a max deal. But Batum won’t stay unless it’s max.

  • spiderman

Lin is an Elite defender – individually and as a teammate. He excels as a TEAM defender in a team sport.

He’s not flashy, dirty or thuggish which some interpret the wrong way

  • rookie75094

    Flagged!!!!…jk…hehe

  • Acbc

Do they troll on BASHMASTERS? I thought it was always catch and quick release!

  • xeroid

why? It’s on Monday, not today.

  • Acbc

Kemba is “net negative”; while Lin is net “positive”. We haven’t used the term for a while. Lin last night was net positive taking only 13 shots to produce 24 pts, with 8 ast. That is a HUGE difference from Kemba’s net negative of averaging over 20 shots with very few ast. This means basically Lin was directly responsible for 40 pts on 15% of the possessions. It means other players are getting touches on offence and are excited to be part of the team play. With Walker ball, it suckes the life out of the team by making everyone stand around on offence while having to play 4 on 5 on defence.

  • Brent Yen

    it is called, ๆ‹œๆ—ฉๅนด

  • sws94

OK, but after awhile it’s just the same thing over and over and it is not his forum. It’s Lin’s. And Lin is still doing a lot of good things this season. My feeling is no situation will be ideal. And as ball dominant players go, Kemba is a lot easier to deal with than Harden or Kobe. And I don’t think he’s so much of a jerk as both of them are either.

  • sws94

I do. And I’ve found this on the Charlotte boards too. Most don’t think the Hornets org should.

  • Maknusia

Indeed…and it was a good revenge from Lin as well…Lin will never forget how dirty Heat with Lebron played just to stop Linsanity….that they never did…hope the stars gets aligned soon, its only matter of time, NBA would be forced to recognize Lin

  • sws94

He’s not tough like Lin or MKG or to an extent Kemba. He doesn’t hustle the same way or play through pain well and still perform like Lin is doing. He doesn’t have that late-game big-moment quality that Lin or Kemba has. That’s not a max player.

  • Maknusia

    Thanks for sharing!

  • cdblue10

I don’t think they will but they will offer him a hefty contract although they won’t be sulking either if he won’t stay.

  • sws94

It was amazing how scratched up our guys were. I don’t remember seeing so many guys so scratched up on one team after a game.

  • Maknusia

    ditto…totally

  • Brewkowski

agree, not sure where i read it but they had stats on batum’s 4th qtr and clutch performances, it shows his performance level and percentages actually drop.

  • Brewkowski

how did this come up? are these scratches based on players’ comments or photos?

  • rookie75094

  • Brewkowski

during mkg’s injury and from article http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nba/charlotte-hornets/article44399226.html MKG was part of the coaching staff. if he took this responsibility seriously, it would then be obvious who the leaders were on this team and the strengths of his teammates (even if the coaching staff dont/wont acknowledge that lin is a better pg than kw).

  • Alain Gervais

Nobody has said this but MKG played amazing defense on Lebron. Helped the team win. If MKG wasn’t there Even Lin going off wouldn’t matter. Which is why Lin said he loved MKG.

  • cdblue10

I’m more interested what would happen on Sunday than on today’s game.

  • Brewkowski

    agree

  • sws94

Absolutely. MKG was a huge factor in the win. I think it was Lin guiding the team and it was a great team win. No one played poorly in that game including the bench players.

  • Brewkowski

interesting… makes one enjoy the win even more. at least no hair pulling or biting.

  • donsmacau

Another fallacious meme going around, “Even Lin going off wouldn’t matter” it’s unfortunate… I wish this tired meme would end.

    You have it all BACKWARDS.

MKG was around for a portion of the 0-23 consecutive losses to Lebron – this is FACT, just so happens that those teams were led by KEMBA who is also responsible for the 0-23. MKG with all the same Defensive Energy BUT without JLIN as leader would have resulted likely in the SAME loss as previous 23 attempts.

JLIN is 1-0 (100%) when leading the Hornets against Lebron’s team…

….and MKG contributed insofar as JLIN led the team by initiating unselfish, find-the-open-man, team play.

  • BobbyH

Wishful thinking: KW sits for the next 4 games before ASG and see how Lin leads against top EC playoff teams.

Hope FO/Coaches have the guts to do it.

  • donsmacau

Hornets try for Batum and probably offer Max (seeing how MJ warmly embraced Batum) but I believe Batum rejects Hornets and goes Raptors.

Batum silently resents Kemba iso-ball as much as any other player and he knows Hornets can’t change that and he won’t be a contributing member of Kemba-ball.

  • donsmacau

Kemba plays tonight, Hornets revert to old-selfish sticky-ball style this game.

  • BobbyH

    That’s why it is wishful.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Their first lost this season wasn’t led by lin.

  • donsmacau

    Thank’s I made the correction.

  • Alain Gervais

That makes no sense. Lin and MKg was needed. Its not like Lin has always won verses lebron. Insanity Lin lost to lebron pretty badly. You need other players to help. If Lebron controlled the tempo which is slower and haif court offense it wouldn’t matter if Lin scored 100. We have seen Lin score a ton and we lose because of no defense. So what is leading to all these wins recently. Its MKG and his impact on the defense. Ofcourse defense a lot won’t win so add a little Insanity to it and well good things happen

  • sws94

I don’t agree that he is the best defensive guard EVER or now. He’s quite good for sure but that’s over the top in my opinion.

I think it was MKG that made it difficult for LeBron and I have a much higher regard for MKG’s game, at least so far, than what I’ve heard from you.

Lin has fundamentally great defensive skills BUT he can not effectively guard guys that are significantly taller as they shoot over him. We saw that with Middleton. Even with Kobe. Lin did everything right against Kobe when he was switched off on him in the Laker game but Kobe was able to shoot over him and make an extremely well contested shot. Livingston shoots over Lin all of the time. Lin just doesn’t have the height for some players to guard them nor does he make it up with a long wingspan.

I also find Wade is tough for LIn to guard. Wade is 6 foot 4 but it isn’t the height that is the problem. Wade’s 220 pounds of solid muscles. He’s not the athlete he was but he’s still extremely strong and he’s one of the few players that can knock Lin off of his mark .

Lin has stolen the ball from Wade and blocked his shot a few times, but in the overall matchups, Wade is a huge challenge. I also doubt Lin can do much about Winslow because he’s a strong jumper and has great athleticism. I guess Lin will be matched up with the high jumping Gerald Green again (unless he’s injured or suspended for his bad behavior). He does well enough on him, but Green is a big challenge due to his leaping and height.

Miami will do their usual in trying to harass Lin. I’m curious to see how he adjusts and his confidence level in taking them on. I hope he goes right after them and is effective. I’m thinking he’ll be at least ok and hope he’s great tonight against them. I don’t care for how they view Lin or play him so I want to see Lin take it to them and not be intimidated by their harassing style of defensive schemes on him.

  • Alain Gervais

    I don’t think so

  • donsmacau

    Completely Agree.

The only way you beat a team like Lebron’s Cavs are:
    a) you out talent them and beat them man against man
    b) you play team ball

So question is how do you out-talent a team that has all the All-star talent? You don’t

You go with option b just like JLIN did all night long.

  • Alain Gervais

GSW was losing to Lebron having his way. Defense really matters verses lebron. If he dictate play it doesn’t matter.

  • donsmacau

Lebron could have scored 50 againsts GSW and Cav still would have lost.
Most likely if Lebron went off on Hornets under JLIN, Cavs lose that too because other Cavs scoring limited.

  • Alain Gervais

they wouldn’t and didn’t. When Lebron was dictating play they were wining. GSW forced The ball out of Lebrun’s hands and sped up the game. If the game is haif court iso ball GSA would lose so would Lin and the hornets. The defense made the game faster causing TOVs. As a matter of fact 2 of Lin best assist came off TOVs on defense

  • sws94

I don’t. MKG got offensive rebounds and LeBron’s numbers were below his usual. LeBron looked more like Prince James than King James, barely Prince James playing on Wednesday.

MKG pushes the pace well. That’s a great quality and one that complements Lin. Lin and MKG were the leaders of this style that help the Hornets get a lot of transition baskets.

If I were to hand out stars, Lin gets the gold, MKG silver for this team win. And Marv would get bronze.

  • sws94

I find LeBron to be a team player. He can go ISO and score, but that’s not his game. He talks and yaps and is the alpha guy but he doesn’t like being a volume scorer. He and Wade used to talk about getting assists, balancing the scoring and shooting 50 percent or better when they were team mates. That was their goal every game. To be efficient.

  • donsmacau

Playing quicker possessions doesn’t mean that’s all dictated by the defense, go back and watch GSW/Cavs gm it was not just neutralizing Lebron, they lost in every facet of the game, they got out-shot all over the court and flat outplayed, it cost Blatt his job.

  • Alain Gervais

Idk why people seem to create this superman Lin and every one else is mere mortals. Stop it with that. Lin got help by The team and the defense. Lin and the Lakers has cavs close then Lebron and the defense came in and boom a 20 point game. Lin could do nothing about it. Ball is a team game . Just give credit where it is due

  • sws94

Blatt shouldn’t be fired for one poor game. Something else was going on. GSW dominates a lot of teams and some other teams play them closer. I think they get up more for the best teams and really, they are a way better team than any other right now except for possibly the Spurs. But I find them better than the Spurs.,

  • yellowshadow

what? i know we’re all lin fans here, but you are wearing bias glasses too thick to not recognize MKG’s contribution to the win. this is why NBA players skimp out on defense – because you dont get any recognition from it.

  • donsmacau

When are you gonna understand that a TEAM with MKG and take your pick of KEMBA or Brian Roberts — you would LOSE 10 out of 10 games against a LEBRON Team!!

MKG could play out-of-his-mind and you STILL Lose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Alain Gervais

I agree its just Kyrie and Kevin love are better iso players. Cavs as a team suck. They need to go iso to beat good teams. Watching the cavs they just don’t move around good. Mostly Kyrie and Love

  • sws94

The very first thing Lin does in any post-game interview when he plays well is credit his team. He’s done that since Linsanity and probably before. Lin is about a tandems, working with a particular guy and then finding other guys to work off of. He’s never the guy to beat a team, he’s always a part and the whole team deserves credit. I wish we’d take his lead sometimes on that.

  • Alain Gervais

IDK what you are talking about. MKG isn’t a scorer. The cavs have lost before charlotte. You need good defense and team ball. Lin adds the team ball but MKg is needed for defense. nothing less nothing more

  • sws94

It’s not about Kemba now. It’s acknowledging that Lin and the team does well. In this case MKG. All roads leading to Kemba gets us bogged down into the Kemba stuff and that’s tedious.

  • sws94

And both hustle and play tough. That’s what I like about them.

  • Alain Gervais

    yep

  • Alain Gervais

Kemba destroys team ball so yeah i agree we would’ve lost. Nonetheless MKG is like shumpart for Lin. He is needed to stop big players like lebron. Lin cant guard lebron

  • sws94

They really aren’t a good team. LeBron’s Miami team was way better. I’m not sure who the best team is in the East but the Cavs have the best record but aren’t the best team.

I’m no fan of Love and Kyrie is impressive to watch his moves, but not an impressive team player at all.

  • Alain Gervais

Love getting killed by a rookie was really embarrassing

  • donsmacau

Lebron’s teams have beaten the Hornets 23 straight times. That is a 4.2% winning percentage when led by SELFISH point guards. Unselfish point guard like JLIN leading 100%. It has nothing to do with Cavs losing to a different team.

I give credit to the players who at the initiation of their leader JLIN decided to follow the game plan which was TEAM BALL.

Unfortunately what you will not admit is that teams with a facilitating unselfish team play, find open man oriented Point Guard is not easy to find and you refuse to admit that JLIN was the far and away KEY to the WIN.

  • donsmacau

Thank you for finally admitting the obvious – KEMBA plays = Hornets lose Lebron

  • sws94

He was, but I don’t think the win happens without MKG.

  • Alain Gervais

Sum of the parts my friend. They hard all the parts before but didn’t have a good PG. Team ball was lacking. You simply cant beat Lebron the best iso player ( maybe not anymore with steph curry) with iso ball. Add Lin to the defense and well we win

  • donsmacau

    And your most likely wrong.

Team ball from entire team; beats star ball often

  • Alain Gervais

I was never arguing this. If i was Charlotte i would trade kemba. He is a sg and will hold them back from winning a chip or even getting close

  • donsmacau

The only way you beat a team like Lebron’s Cavs are:
    a) you out talent them and beat them man against man
    b) you play team ball

So question is how do you out-talent a team that has all the All-star talent? You don’t

You go with option b just like JLIN did all night long.

  • sws94

MKG was a vital part of the team ball along with Lin. MKG’s offensive rebounding leads to more possession. Also, the team has rebounded better since MKG has come back. The poor offensive rebounding happened while Lin was on the team before MKG came back.

  • Alain Gervais

it doesn’t happen with out MKG unless hairston plays good defense which i doubt

  • Alain Gervais

this is true defense is not recognized by people or appreciated

  • sws94

He doesn’t even make a good effort. He rebounds and he scores. But he’s not a complete player and he seems lazy to me.

How Jeremy Lin’s playmaking broke down the Cleveland Cavaliers
    Excellent analysis.
    http://www.atthehive.com/2016/2/5/10919372/how-jeremy-lins-playmaking-broke-down-the-cleveland-cavaliers

Wednesday’s 106-97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers was arguably the best win of the season for the Charlotte Hornets. Cleveland held the best record in the Eastern Conference, and the Hornets hadn’t beat Lebron James in six years. That streak looked likely to continue with Kemba Walker out, but Jeremy Lin stepped up as the starting point guard, finishing with 24 points and eight assists.

Lin is best when playing point guard — this isn’t news to anyone who is remotely familiar with him. Walker’s career year, along with injuries at the shooting guard position, has seen Lin play more off the ball, where he has been less consistent. Nagging injuries haven’t helped Lin either. Ultimately though, Lin is a point guard first, so when he was set to fill in as the starting point guard, it meant a good performance from him could help the Hornets get the upset.

That proved to be the case. Lin’s strong second half helped him finish as the team’s leading scorer, but his eight assists may have been just as important. A closer look reveals the ways Lin made plays for others with the ball:

Lin created a number of open shots by drawing defenders to him. Much of this comes through the offense, but Lin read his defenders well, and found the open man.

    https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/chbRbqNXoS0Zz83VfM0UP4DyyGY=/800×0/filters:no_upscale()/cdn0.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/5998765/assist2.0.gif

On this play, Cody Zeller comes to set a screen. Lin doesn’t quite use it, but Kevin Love commits to help anyways. As Zeller rolls to the basket, Tristan Thompson comes to help, which leaves Marvin Williams open in the corner. Lin recognizes the defense has collapsed, and finds Williams for the open 3-pointer. It’s not the cleanest pass, but Williams knocks it down anyways.

Here’s another screen-and-roll situation, where Lin finds Batum for an open jumper:

    https://cdn0.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/UHifLgyST9ugGqyaxDSWc3xoyZc=/800×0/filters:no_upscale()/cdn0.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/5998785/assist3.0.gif

Batum and Williams flash up in a horns set, with Williams setting the screen, and Batum cutting to the short corner. Lin does a great job of getting around a hedging Love, which forces J.R. Smith to help, leaving Batum open. In both plays, it was Lin’s ability to drive off the pick-and-roll that forced multiple defenders to commit to him. Because Lin is good at finishing at the rim, defenses have to help, which then opens up shots for players on the perimeter.

Next, we look at an out of bounds play:

    https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/GyZpJ0MuLfgjjMP3gLAbEG92Vhk=/800×0/filters:no_upscale()/cdn0.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/5998809/assist6.0.gif

Here Zeller sets a screen for Lin to get open, and immediately sets another before rolling to the rim. Lin doesn’t drive straight to the basket, but instead threatens to do so. Love does a solid job of getting in Lin’s way, but the open shot comes because both Tristan Thompson and James sag in to protect the paint. When James over commits, the space opens up to cross the ball over to Williams in the corner. Again though, the attention to Lin draws the defenders in.

Finally, we look at Lin finding Zeller on the fastbreak:

    https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/a81a_NiJmqF29wzdK_R3ckFg_9U=/800×0/filters:no_upscale()/cdn0.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/5998825/assist7.0.gif

Three things make this play happen. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Batum both act as decoys running down the sides of the court. James has his attention drawn on MKG, while Smith is focusing on Batum. Secondly, Zeller gets ahead of Love and Thompson on the break. Love isn’t committed to getting back in transition, and while Thompson recognizes the threat of Zeller, he’s too far back to catch up. Lin does a good job of freezing the defenders with his eyes, who are focusing on MKG. Once he sees Zeller is open, he times the pass perfectly and finds Zeller open.

  • donsmacau

MKG could play 100 times as a superhero and without a selfless point guard he loses.

JLIN leading an entire team of teamballers without MKG still have a good hance of win.

  • donsmacau

Read below my 100 times as a superhero MKG comment

  • Alain Gervais

We are not arguing this but Lin minus MKG is also a loss

  • donsmacau

And that’s where you are WRONG!

  • Alain Gervais

We’ve had one game with Lin and no MKg so what happen did we win?

  • sws94

If you look at championship teams, the winning PGs aren’t the Irving, Rose, Kemba type. The team ball teams win. Miami was the 3-star type of winner when they won but they had ball movement and defense. But now, multi great players with versatility in a team-ball concept is winning, not high-scoring PGs that don’t distribute or freeze ball movement when they are in.

  • sws94

Nope. Both are needed. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Why did Lin thank MKG for coming back? I think it’s obvious.

  • donsmacau

You seem to miss the only SIGNIFICANT issue and this is – JLIN is the controlling ball dominant point guard – so you answered your own question. — that is just intellectual laziness

Let me ask you this, how many people would have predicted a WIN against the East leading, Lebron 5 win streak conf. champs if you had told them Kemba Walker doesnt play? MKG doesn’t play JLIN doesn’t play?

Answers before game: No KW 0% chance, No MKG 10%; No JLIN 15%

Turns out those chances are flipped exactly reverse.

  • Alain Gervais

Intellectual laziness?? was that suppose to be an insult lol. Lin without MKg loses Lin was playing Pg at the Laker and dominating he ball. We lost Also playing PNR. We just didn’t have the talent. Lin and any play would. Jordan and no Pippen loses to the piston. Stop taking it as a gripe at Lin

  • donsmacau

You have one very huge problem with your entire premise and that is HISTORY.

MKG has played on the Hornets AGAINST LEBRON and he had NEVER been a part of any WINS.

If on balance for some of those games played with the same Energy, Resolve and Defensive Intensity you would think that AT LEAST SOME of those games he could have helpped turn the tide into a WIN as you are suggesting he did with JLIN.

History proves that MKG did not in the 0-23 stretch against Lebron.

  • rookie75094

I still hate jason kidd for the bush league hair pulling move

  • Alain Gervais

The cavs are the best team in the east. The idea Lin alone can beat them is way out there. He needs help. Insanity was beaten by Lebron during Insanity. That heat team is better then this Cavs team but The cavs are still the best team in the east. Lin with a bunch of scrubs can beat a lot of other teams but top teams no. He needs the right system and coach. which his time in La taught us. He needs help.

  • donsmacau

Right Lin leading an energetic, rag-tag bunch of no-names to a win over tough opponents when much of the team is decimated by injury is such a RARE and “way out there” idea.

So rare that he’s been doing it now for 4 years.

  • donsmacau

So let me ask you since you just claimed Heat are better.

Do you think MKG plays well tonight and do you think Kemba leads MKG to a win over the Heat?

  • Alain Gervais

Depends how much Lin is used. How much shots Kemba takes. If he takes all the shots Late which he is used to doing then maybe we will go to overtime. Im not a big fan of Kemba. Meg is a complementary player so its not his fault Kemba is making them Lose

  • CJSHYY
  • Alain Gervais

Heat was better with Lebron not this year

  • donsmacau

    Let me get this straight.

JLIN as main facilitator cannot WIN without MKG
Kemba as main facilitator cannot WIN with OR without MKG

But in fact you won’t even venture a guess as to the outcome of Heat when Kemba plays because you need to know lots of stats beforehand.

    However in your book

JLIN cannot lead any other group of 12-13 players to a WIN against a tough opponent if MKG does not play. Those other 12-13 players even if they play fantastic team ball, strong-help-defense doesn’t matter, if MKG not on roster, NO WAY that JLIN can lead them to a WIN.

Look at that logic, MKG is more important than anyone on the team including more imp. than both Kemba & JLIN.
    Illogical and history against you.

  • pandaboy99

I predict hornets get down by 10 and lin comes in to clean up the mess.

  • cdblue10

C’mon.Dont separate MKG and Lin stop that!!!’

  • Alain Gervais

That group wouldd need a really good wing defender. By 12-13 guys are talking about a team like the Lakers last year with Lin with out kobe. then the answer is no. Kemba is iso ball. While the defense is good the stagnate offense is always an issue. Lin and a group of random players with Lin as the ball handler means Team ball but what about defense. Team ball and defense is needed. Except when Lin was in Houston. We were talented enough where team ball didn’t matter unless it was certain teams that could stop harden

  • orLinaryjoe

Really? LOL. It takes synergy and a team for Linsanity. MKG is a fantastic team player for Lin.

  • orLinaryjoe

Hoping they can keep it close and his airness will let Lin come in and do his thing and finish the game.

  • donsmacau

Your intent on taking the discussion far afield & won’t stay on Hornets is wearing.

Final word – MKG was BY FAR NOT more important than JLIN and even without MKG, Hornets likely would have WON – that is all on this subject.

  • donsmacau

Could not agree more with KHuang, you are right KHuang.

  • donsmacau

    Yes, really.

  • donsmacau

    Great comment by KHuang

  • orLinaryjoe

    Uh ha, lol

  • cdblue10

So do you think Lin can win it alone against Lebrons team?

  • KHuang

    Why not?

It’s not as if MKG did so much better than PJ Hairston would have.

PJ Hairston plays exceedingly well off Lin.

  • KHuang

    YES

  • KHuang

PJ Hairston could easily have provided what MKG did.

  • Alain Gervais

Ive never said that Im adding other teams to show you examples of Lin on another team Playing Ball handler and Losing to lebron. In La and Ny. In houston we won i think a few times because of talent. JLIN isn’t superman. If any player could be it Lebron and he lost 4 NBA chips already. Its a team game. Move on

  • Alain Gervais

thats a bit out there bro

  • cdblue10

You and donsmaca can talk to each other…lol

  • Alain Gervais

HAHAHA yea I’m done with this

  • KHuang

    NO

I’ve followed MKG for the last four seasons. You have been following him for only four games.

Nothing I’ve seen from MKG is any different than what he used to do. And it’s LIN that provided the necessary defense, not MKG.

  • LinMad

Actually MKG’s rebounds and interior D helped us a lot. He creates space on offensive end too.

  • KHuang

    NO.

MKG has been getting WHOOPED by Lebron for the last four seasons.

He did well because LIN PROTECTED HIM.

  • KHuang

    NO.

The Hornets have historically been badly beaten by the Cavs, including this season.

    Lin was THE difference maker.

  • KHuang

Shumpert wasn’t all that for Lin.

And MKG? Hairston or Batum would have “guarded” Lebron to 23 points as well as MKG did.

  • KHuang

Hairston or Batum at Sf would have provided the same but likely would have shot better.

  • Alain Gervais

Im sorry but Kyrie was scoring pretty easily on Lin. until the third. Luckily Kyrie is an iso player so it didn’t effect the game

  • donsmacau

I’m not being sarcastic, I’ve just done my entire mealtime over this with Alain.

  • KHuang

    I’d rather talk to you.

I’m not enthralled with MKG like you newbies are. I’ve been following him for too long.

  • KHuang

    So?

Lin’s entire career is “out there” – and I tend to call it CORRECTLY.

  • donsmacau

JLIN has proven over 4 years that he can take a injury depleted team of energetic no-name, non superstars and beat tough opponents – YES

  • Alain Gervais

I didn’t say he wasn’t but no MKG would equal a loss. Lin himself said it in the post game interview

  • DX

Hope Cliff can balance the PT.

  • orLinaryjoe

PJ Hairston was a filler before, and proven no match. MKG has superior rebounding and play.

  • Alain Gervais

Anyways it doesn’t matter Lets agree to disagree

  • Alain Gervais

    it will be interesting

  • Dan Ang

    Definitely not easily.

  • KHuang

    Hornets will probably lose.

  • donsmacau

Even if JLIN gets 8 min. off bench leading the 2nd string – unlikely that will be enough time to undo the damage that having Kemba selfish-ball can create against the Heat.

Rest of the PT JLIN gets would be his standard COMBO TRASH Guard position.

  • grover chang

I am optimistic that walker will play within the system. If he does that the team should not look ugly. He was passing and moving without the ball the two games before his injury.

Walker is not bad as long as he doesn’t try to play hero ball.

  • Whitman Lam

Kemba won’t be able to stop the bigger Dragic, only Lin can defend him.

  • orLinaryjoe

Disagree, MKG rebounded more than anybody. That alone is superior. We’re not comparing LIn/MKG to Kemba/MKG, we’re comparing Lin/MKG to Lin/Hairston. Lin/MKG all day, all nite.

Edit: MKG defense is much better, no surprise. But without Kemba, MKG as offensive threat is surprising GOOD!

  • Dan Ang

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I believe JLin knows whazz up! Thats why he always gives props to his players/Coaches when he has a good game.
Sure there is an “I” in Linsanity, but its silent.

  • Alain Gervais

    yup

  • Alain Gervais

Ok this Lin needing MkG or not debate. Lets end it here. After the game what player did Lin say he love and was grateful was back. Lin knows the truth so thats all that matters

  • yes, I saw the changes of Kemba passing out to open 3pt shooters.
Let’s hope it continues. Hornets just need to win with teamball desperately

  • orLinaryjoe

Bottom line, Lin is a team player. He needs a team that plays with him. He is not an iso player, so the idea that he does it all by himself, by definition does not fit.

  • KHuang

It’s not as if MKG had an easy time either.

  • It’s pretty clear that MKG rebounding prowess cured the #1 ailment of the Hornets big men.
JLin himself said, “The things that he did to save the ball and possession, getting fouled was huge to get the Hornets in early bonus”

I mean 7 rebounds in the 1st quarter was too awesome. He was like playing volleyball with himself, grabbing his own miss, etc.

Linsanity is about teamball, empowering teammates to play beyond their individual skills.
The Hornets would need Kemba, MKG, Batum, Frank, Brian Roberts and others to buy into the team concept in order to reach the playoff.

  • KHuang

    Agree.

But defense is NOT all about 1-on-1.

The coaching staff had Lin doubling down on other players while Irving got his.

It was a smart strategy because Irving with his illegal dribbling is a good enough scorer and foul drawer that Lin sticking tightly to him would result in foul trouble for Lin and Irving scoring anyway.

What Lin’s TEAM defense did was limit Lebron’s damage and completely shut down Kevin Love. Lebron still got his even with Lin and MKG working together, but Love didn’t and that was more than enough to drop Cleveland from
its 111 ppg scoring average since Lue became coach.

  • cdblue10

    NEWBIES TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL THIS GUY!!!

  • KHuang

    Why end it?

Just because people don’t like the opinions here, we all have to shut up?

I enjoyed both sides of the argument. You posted great stuff. KEEP IT COMING

  • sws94

“Linsanity is about teamball, empowering teammates to play beyond their individual skills.” Yes. That’s for sure.

  • orLinaryjoe

Very inconsistent with what you said about him yesterday on the other site. You said he must have worked out and improved over the course of his rehab.

  • orLinaryjoe

Being old doesn’t make you right, lol.

  • cdblue10

True he needs to learn how to respect others opinion otherwise this guy would just talk to himself. He thinks he knows everything!

  • Alain Gervais

i didnt mean it in that way. By end it i mean its my trump card if you can trump it you can try lol

  • KHuang

    Disagree.

I attribute the Hornets superior rebounding and defense to Lin’s point guard defense, not MKG’s 13 rebounds.

    Why?

Because when Walker is PG, his utter refusal to play defense means that the opposing PG always penetrates by him. That causes the other Hornets players to switch over to help Walker, and that pulls those players out of rebounding and defensive position.

With Lin at PG, the other Hornets are not pulled out of rebounding and defensive position even when Irving was scoring on Lin. That there was the key to the game.

Another key to Charlotte winning the boards? Cavs reserve PG Matthew Dellavedova was out.

Usually Delly guards Lin. And Delly does it pretty well. Even if Delly gets scored on, he doesn’t allow Lin to pull the other Cavs out of defending and rebounding position.

But since there was no Delly, Lin penetrated at will. That threw the Cavs out of position, just like opposing teams do to Kemba Walker.

When MKG is there with Walker and not Lin, the Hornets cannot defend or rebound well if the opposing PG is attacking Walker.

  • KHuang

    Oh, OK.

    Good enough!

  • orLinaryjoe

A line up with Lin/MKG is still superior to Lin/Hairston imo.

  • KHuang

    Completely disagree.

Too bad we won’t get the chance to find out.

  • orLinaryjoe

So are you saying MKG is replaceable with Hairston?

  • KHuang

Actually, Walker doesn’t have to stop Dragic.

On Miami, Dragic is not allowed to shoot because Wade and Bosh command the shots.

Dragic is playing the same exact role for the Heat that Lin played in his first year with Houston. The difference is that Lin played better at a lower salary but got race flamed for it more.

  • KHuang

    Absolutely, YES.

Charlotte couldn’t win in MKG’s prior years.

And don’t forget that MKG has only played 40% of the games of his NBA career. MKG cannot help the Hornets if he is sitting out 60% of the games.

At least Hairston is HEALTHY, unlike the injury prone frail MKG who is not physically capable of enduring an entire NBA season without a major injury.

  • joyce ward

I think Kemba will be have himself for maybe two games, but it will be back to him isoing again, and team losing.

  • orLinaryjoe

Ok, then let it be on the record. We shall see what impact MKG has on the team now that he is back.

  • KHuang

But Lin can CARRY a team by himself when he’s getting everybody involved and running the coach’s gameplan.

We just saw Lin DO IT against one of the best teams in the NBA, albeit a Cavs team that was missing its ONLY perimeter defender in Matthew Dellavedova who is far more important to the Cavs than his pitiful $1 million salary suggests.

  • Tolin

Agree most parts but MKG does have positive impacts for Hornets with below my thoughts.

Without MKG, Hornets will lose around 3-5 rebounds (2-3 defense and 2-3 offense) and around 10-15 points due to rebounds (and missed defense helps by MKG) and tough shots made by opponents. However, Hornets will get additional offense power (shoot better) for around 6-10 points with MKG.

Regardless, team ball win and get additional positive impacts with MKG.

  • KHuang

Uhh, hasn’t looked good so far.

MKG has missed like 40 games, and the Hornets only won last game because Walker was out and Lin took over.

  • KHuang

Back to iso defenseless loserball, yes.

It won’t show as much against this Heat team that doesn’t have an attacking PG, unless the Heat realize that Dragic can score on Walker at will.

  • Weifang

unfortunately, you can only do this experiment when Kemba not playing

  • Weifang

Yes, when Lin’s teammates follow him, they all play like all star

  • orLinaryjoe

Don’t get confused by the last games. It’s about what MKG brings versus Hairston, what we disagree on. In the last few loses, Lin was out or not playing well/or playing hurt. You need to differentiate that.

  • Weifang

Lasted 1.5 game after MJ’s pep talk. So two games are the stretching limit.

  • orLinaryjoe

Not true. We are comparing team with MKG vs Hairston. Not an argument of Lin vs Kemba.

  • Weifang

well, then it became meaningless to me, because it won’t matter, they still gonna lose games

  • It’s true that Dellavedova being out helped JLin to penetrate the paint because he was a good defender.

But regarding MKG, you have to admit that his 13 rebounds were huge. The Hornets won the rebounding battle with 49-28 while they lost the first game with 38-50.

Plus what JLin said was true about drawing early fouls, putting tremendous pressure to the Cavs. MKG diving for the ball & got the foul certainly helped to inspire his teammates just like JLin did.
    – Cavs had more fouls in this game (19-14) but the Hornets had more PF (25-22) in their 11/27 loss
    – And check out the FT attempts: 23-14 for the Hornets win and a 25-25 tie in the 1st game
    – Finally, Lebron had 7-9 FTM in the 1st game but only 3-5 in this game.
We really have to give credit to MKG defense on LeBron deterring him to attack the rim

I like MKG because he hustles like JLin for the team plus he was the 1st or 2nd to greet JLin to come to the Hornets, plus vouching for JLin in that security guard stopping JLin ordeal =)

  • new MIA game thread

    http://www.jlinportal.com/g50-mia-cha-game-thread/

This will be a tough game against the surging Miami Heat who have won five of their last six games, including victories in four of five away from home.

    1. If Kemba is back with the starter, would that affect JLinโ€™s role as the primary PG when he comes in?
    2. Kemba and Batum havenโ€™t been able to provide a good playmaking for their teammates lately so what will Clifford do if the starters struggle to play teamball?
    3. Would JLinโ€™s effectiveness be impacted by coming off the bench again since he would need to defer to Kemba as the main PG?

Letโ€™s go, JLin! Letโ€™s pray and hope that he manages to be 100% healthy soon before to help the Hornets to win

  • Tolin

MKG has more positive impacts (around 3-10 points) than Hairston without considering healthy (durability).

On defense (MKG > Hairston) due to talents (efforts are the same)
On offense (MKG = Hairston) with MKG better in offense rebounds (the only one can fight for offense rebounds and come back to defend on-time) and Hairston better in shooting.

  • cdblue10

I’m done with your non sense, basketball is a 5 man team and even Lebron needs
His team mates to win even Curry on that matter!Goodbye!

  • orLinaryjoe

It’s not meaningless. Who would you rather see: Lin starting with MKG or in starting with Hairston? That is the discussion below. Yes, I want Lin to start too.

  • orLinaryjoe

    I agree

  • It’s certainly very tempting for him to prove that he is the #1PG after the big Cavs win that JLin delivered after 6 years of losing to the Cavs.

It’ll be interesting to see how he deals with it

  • sws94

MJ needed Pippin, Magic had Cooper, Curry has Green. A solid defensive player is needed even if the good player or one of the difference makers is a solid defensive player. I think KHuang doesn’t think that much of MKG but from what we’ve seen so far, he’s a huge impact player bigger than any other member of the Hornets that I can think of and the type of player that complements Lin.

  • Lefon Jang

Absolutely. What MKG also brought to the team is a single coverage on Lebron.

  • TK Wong

Nice breakdown of how JLin and his BBIQ creates opportunity for his team

  • Acbc

It’s just amazing how having 5 defenders can do instead of one MIA heroball player.

  • aras

problem with bashing him 24/7 on this forum is that thats all you can see in the end. seriously im not a big fan o walker neither but if i got something to say about him i’ll go to the charlotte forum. i dont come here on this forum to bash him constantly. Im here for Lin and to write about Lin thats what im here for.

  • aras

    MJ

  • aras

yes and i agree with you. but my issue with this is it becomes a walker bashing forum in the end.

  • Dan Ang

MKG is definitely more athletic than Hairston…maybe by a hair.
