JLin and Kemba Powered the Hornets With 55 to Beat the Heat; Lin Banked a 3 plus Jordan Shrug

Jeremy Lin and Kemba Walker duo powered the Hornets with 55pts to tie the series 2-2 with the Heat

  • JLin finished with 21pts/3asts/2stls and saved the Hornets from a deep hole in 1st quarter and 17-1 Heat run in the 3rd quarter.
  • Kemba had 34pts/1ast/3rebs with late game scoring after Jeremy Lin got tired
  • Lee also finished with 11pts/4rebs/1stl/1blk with 2 crucial FTs late to secure the win

Only these 3 Hornets finished with double-digits

Clifford praised Lin for keeping the Hornets in the game with 1st half, his ability to drive the ball critical in the series.

besides the obvious boxscore stuff, biggest thing lin tonight did was to get key players in foul trouble. dragic played only 23
minutes tonight; whiteside, only 25 min. (like clifford’s lin minutes hehe).

  • real-dsb

thanks for getting a new postgame thread up so fast!

  • Chopz

Woo hoo, down goes miami! They said miami back in 2012 was the end of linsanity. Well in 2016, linsanity is the end of miami.

  • Jedi

Lin comes in, within a couple of minutes Wade is out of game with 2 fouls on him. That’s an unmentioned immediate impact.

  • Elon Musk

I didnt watch the first half but was Lin guarding Wade?

  • You’re welcome 🙂
Time to celebrate Lin/Kemba duo that are keys to beat the Heat!
    2 more games!!!

  • Chopz

Thats because the force is strong with this one oh great jedi.

  • I am The Jason

Lin played excellent tonight keeping the Hornets in the game and Walker step up when the Heat players were throwing their bodies into Lin. C. Lee has some mind numbing moments but the rebound at the end is what the doctor ordered.

  • LinMad

Spo mentioned “It wasn’t just him (Kemba) it was Lin also…” after reporter asked about Kemba’s 4th quarter.

  • Elon Musk

Yeah he said they were aggressive drawing fouls

  • LinMad
  • LinMad

Wade was guarding Lin. Lin didn’t get a chance to guard Wade cause Wade fouled Lin twice within 10 seconds.

  • cshot

is lins friend in the conference room? looks like hes trying to hit on erin gradwell lol

  • Jedi

    Love Spo…haha.

  • It’s time to celebrate JLin and Kemba’s ability to penetrate the Heat’s defense to tie the series 2-2!!
Both will be keys to beat the Heat in the series.

Let’s have a cease fire on “Who’s Better” comparison 🙂
For this season, they need each other so badly and Lee/Marvin/Zeller/Al to advance to the 2nd round.

Let’s shrug off some negativity like JLin imitated the MJ Shrug after the 3pt bank-shot 🙂

i hope Spo gives Lin a long hard look in the offseason. i don’t mind Lin playing for Spo at all. excellent coach and has a good team

  • sws94

Wade says there’s but so much you can do about Kemba and Lin. they are going to get their points. Said more about Kemba but sounds like he’s saying the guards are trying to do their best but those guys are hard to stop.

  • Alain Gervais

He said “Their good players. Only so much you can do”

  • DWade did say Kemba and Lin are good players (i.e. “Lin PnR”)

  • sws94

Lin is so pumped up in his post-game interview. He’s loving playing in the playoffs. And doing GREAT.

  • LinMad

Lin #3 on Pulse. Kemba #1. This is a first.

  • Thanks, you really lived up to your name, @SpeedofLin:disqus 😀

  • Alain Gervais

    Kemba earned it

  • They both are tremendous!
They can’t win without each other tonight 🙂

  • Alain Gervais

This is honestly the first time I’ve thought. Man the Lin and kemba Combo is deadly

  • LinMad

when they both attack, many teams will get in foul trouble.

  • Alain Gervais

I feel sorry for Heats bigs. Have to guard Al and then have lin an Kemba running toward you lol

Lin always starts his interviews with “uh man”, but most times a lady interviews him so i think he should adjust by saying “uh woman”..

  • KHuang

If it had been just Lin, the game would have been won much easier and by a far bigger margin.

  • DaBoss

Kemba and Jlin looking so happy at the podium

  • LinMad

yep they were joking with eachother before sitting down.

  • Briiick

LOL, we got a win anyway.

  • KHuang

    Lin plays uphill

The rest of the Hornets play downhill.

  • Alain Gervais
  • KHuang

    No they won’t.

The Miami Heat are an aging team with a slow unathletic backcourt.

Most other teams don’t have this weakness in footspeed against Kemba Walker.

  • Briiick

I like it. When KW has had a good game, he is more willing to share in the next game.

  • DrewBear2

    Senior Mod – Hornets
Holy crap! I can’t remember the last time I was that anxious watching a sporting event, maybe Chelsea vs Bayern CL final in 2012.

I’m just so proud of this team for fighting back after going down 0-2 and losing Batum. Most everyone was ready to count us out and just assume we’d get swept or at best lose in 5 games. [suck it Bonnell]. I’d be lying if I didnt think the same thing after after that 2nd game. At least we know we have at least 2 more games to enjoy this team.

Thank god for Lin. He might have saved our season with his play in the late 1st, early 2nd. He pretty much carried the team on his back for that stretch and got us back in the game. He gave us time, time for them to start missing and time for Kemba to start making some shots.

Will we ever get going from 3? Probably not, not the way they are defending us. They are selling out so hard to run us off the 3pt line and they have so many wings to run at our shooters. Unless they change the way they defend us, I dont much chance of us getting enough clean looks to make a difference. However, if they are going to continue to be so hellbent on defending the 3pt line, we’ll just keep driving the ball to the rim on every single possession.

  • KHuang

    NO HE’S NOT.

  • CJSHYY

I agree. His ISO won this game. Next game he sure will ISO even more bc he thinks it works.

  • KHuang

    Hrmph.

We Lin fans correctly predicted that the Hornets are better off without Batum – and there are far more Lin fans than there are Hornets fans.

  • CJSHYY

Bc they won this game. 2 more they can win this series.

  • KHuang

-7 means that Walker LOST the game.

Lin singlehandedly put the Hornets far enough ahead that not even Walker could mess up the win despite his two terrible stints without Lin protecting him.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

    Hrmph is right!

  • KHuang

Lin breaks free of the Heat guards at will without the ball.

When Lin catches the ball, he’s on the move with a hapless Heat defender lagging behind.

This causes the Heat to be constantly behind on their coverages whenever Lin is on the court. It wears out the opposing guards from
guarding him and forces the Miami bigs out of defensive position. This is why Walker can score only when Lin is on the court protecting him.

That inability of the Heat to prevent Lin from cutting without the ball is TURNING the series in Charlotte’s favor.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

never say never. they can trade dragic and pick up Lin

  • Alain Gervais
  • Alain Gervais

The may bring the bigs up Likethey did late. We will have to adjust to it

  • JLin said he was so tired after the 1st 3 quarters so it’s good to watch Kemba scored in 3-4 possessions
“I’m just chilling on the corner. I told him to take us home” LOL

  • CJSHYY

True. But at least they finally won this game that means a lot to Lin.

  • jimmyL

Hope Batum doesn’t come back, no offence. At least not for this series.
Batum stops the ball movement. This man takes 10 seconds to decide what he wants to do.
    Always taking those dumb shots

  • DaBoss

Jeremy said he told Kemba to take over at end of 4th because he was so tired. Told Kemba to “take us home”.

  • Love Lin

Sweettttt…. the comparison… MJ shrug meme

  • cdblue10

    Finally,Kemba gave a nice compliment for Lin…edited

  • KHuang

The only reason Miami was able to compete against Charlotte late is because Walker selfishly isohogged the ball out of Lin’s hands.

  • takeme2cruz

No one will take his contract.

  • cdblue10

NO more max contract for him…LOL

  • LinMad

    huh?

  • Alain Gervais

Datum is not selfish. Or atleast he wasn’t in the regular season. I doubt he would try to take over the game.

  • sws94

Unfortunately Cliff said their offense is harder without Batum in there and he’s missed a lot. It’s either Lin and Kemba playing well together (after awhile) or Lin and Batum. What should that tell Cliff? Lin is a huge part of the offense when he is much more involved and has big responsibility. And didn’t Charlotte lose the first 2 games with Batum playing?

  • CJSHYY

Well said. — Thank god for Lin. He might have saved our season with his play in the late 1st, early 2nd. He pretty much carried the team on his back for that stretch and got us back in the game.

  • heart

    1) Lin made immediate impact once he entered the game. He caused Heat players committed some quick fouls. Wade (2), Stoudemire (2).
    2) Once again, Heat Coach, Spo, VOLUNTARILY gave credit to Lin without prompting from reporters! Cliff didn’t give Lin any mentions until a reporter asked.
    3) I believe Cliff/Hornets wanted KW to take over this game in the 4th, so he can be the Player of the Game. Perhaps this was what MJ/FO wanted since he was in the house.
    4) In post game, Cliff admitted that he drew set plays (PnRs) for KW in 4Q when a reporter asked.
    5) Lin recognized that he was not supposed to do any more scoring in 4Q, so he urged KW to take over the game to win.

  • Love Lin

2 W streak, hope to carry the confidence n the energy on the road.. Feel happy 4 Lin n the team.. 🙂

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

just watched Krmba and JLin’s post game conference. Lin said he was “so tired” after three quarters that he basically told Kemba to “take (them) home” and “it’s all on you” or something like that. Their body language is good together during the interview. A good partnership recognizes that they need each other and that they are better together than on his own. I’m part of a very good business partnership the last ten years and mutual need and respect is one of the key ingredients. Kemba might be a good fit for Lin, in terms of his realistic perception of his need for someone like Jeremy.

  • cdblue10

    Hahahahha….ok Lin

  • takeme2cruz

You meant Lin got a nice compliment from Kemba?

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

  • Lam

    “Let’s have a cease fire on “Who’s Better” comparison 🙂 ”
    Totally agree.

  • KHuang

Clifford is only trying to talk up Walker and Batum in order to protect his job.

Like I keep saying, Clifford would rather lose with Walker and Batum than win with Lin.

    Nobody is fooled here.

  • CJSHYY

Can’t agree more what you said… Anyway, won this game means a lot to Lin & sure helps him a lot in FA so I am OK w Kemba’s ISO. Bc No matter like it or not, it will continue….

Except Kemba isn’t a good fit for Lin. Lin’s goner, now he’s just showcasing for the next team.

  • takeme2cruz

They will remain good friends good buddies after this season.

  • vincent

where do you guys see Lin going next year?

  • KHuang

Maybe if Clifford occasionally subbed Lin in and out of the game even just once per half, that would allow Lin to beast more.

Whoops, Lin beasting more is exactly what Clifford DOES NOT WANT.

  • jimmyL

He was never a max player

  • takeme2cruz

He was tired, specially on D.

  • jimmyL

His decision making aint the best
He’s not that good of a playmaker

  • Alain Gervais

    He is decent.

  • DrewBear2

I do not think Jeremy is giving even a passing thought about a “next team” or “showcasing”. These guys want to win this series and keep going.

  • takeme2cruz

Either way, I agree with you.

  • jimmyL

Not really, look how well Lillard is playing this year w/o batum taking away his touches

  • Alain Gervais
  • sws94

I don’t think he wants to lose. I just think he loves Batum. If he didn’t want to win with Lin, he wouldn’t insert him in the game when he did and play him crazy minutes straight 16 and 18 I think.

  • takeme2cruz

    Oh YES

  • KHuang

Can Lin keep SAVING the Hornets enough such that they can win despite horrendous deficits by the badly overmatched starters?

I think that against this plodding aging Heat team, Lin CAN.

  • DaBoss

No one can talk about this game without mentioning Kemba and Jeremy in the same sentence

  • Alain Gervais
  • sws94

Lin is making great impressions this playoff. One on the guys on NBA TV said if he keeps playing like he is he’s going to get paid big (something to that effect).

  • Alain Gervais

The basically do everything together lately lol. Even post game interviews

  • sws94

Totally agree. The focus is playoff. I’d love to just ride this wave. It’s really fun.

And to be really honest, I think Lin is loving playing for this coach and this group of team mates. He seems to want it to last as long as possible, not looking towards anything in the future right now at least.

  • I am The Jason
  • takeme2cruz

Hornets just guaranteed another home game.

  • ty

Lin’s parting gift to Kemba will be that his team play dynamics proves the old adage of the “whole being greater than the sum of its parts.” Hope Kemba is mature and humble enough to take it to heart

  • Win

But that was the true. Lin save the game and got tire because of Heats defense. They are using Richardson, Winslow and Green which are all fast and long. Then KW got hot then finish the game.

  • KHuang

    NO.

It was from Lin playing too many minutes in a row without a breather, just like he did for the previous 2 loser teams.

See, Clifford is no different from McHale and Scott in that he would like to use Lin to give very short respites to less talented starters. The goal is for Lin to come in, play about 5-8 minutes in a row, and then come back out once Walker and Lee and Batum are fully refreshed.

But then Lin gets the whole team going and Clifford just keeps Lin in, hoping that Lin will wear down so that “better” players can take over.

This is why Lin comes off the bench, plays at least 12 minutes in a row, and then gets benched at the end of a half (but not at the end of a game if the outcome is close like today).

  • JoeTeam

wow, those stats look like KW is SG, and finally, CHA has a PG. L.O.L.

  • heart

KW benefits more than Lin. Everything is catered to KW to get credits. Lin did all the hard work. Lin mentioned about starting w/ the defensive end. Lin is clever w/ his encouragement when he sees a weakness. KW couldn’t score the first half bc the Heat were able to contain him. Heat couldn’t contain Lin. He outscored and outplayed them to Not only brought Hornets back in the game but also garnered a lead. KW benefited but still was not able to control the tempo and allowed the Heat to catch up. Until Lin re-entered the game, that was when Heat run was stopped. KW is happy tonight bc he got the points and credit for the game. But 4Q set plays were drawn for him to take over. Everyone was playing defense to help him. Glad that he gave Lin’s credit for his talents of penetrating the paint, but this compliment should have been said long time ago….

  • Alain Gervais

Heat threw everything at Lin and Kemba went off. Its just hard keeping both down

  • DaBoss

Yeah – take THAT Kobe! Hope you’re watching your Charmin soft ex teammate LOL

  • sws94

Yes, immediate impact. Turned the whole thing around with his driving and his court vision plus his defense.

At the end of the game, Lin played 18 minutes straight and was tired. In his joint post-game interview with Kemba, he said he asked KW to take over and it was great for him because he could chill out in the corner, catch his breath and watch. He was really tired.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

anyone has the link to the Spo interview?

  • Alain Gervais

He is kinda used to that by now. Its mostly the intensity of the game

  • sws94

I don’t find him selfish. Don’t get anyone saying he is. He changes the way the team plays and it means less opportunities for Lin but he plays team ball.

  • DrewBear2

How many times has he said that he’s having a blast playing this year? That’s not one of those diplomatic answers written by a publicist. I think it’s completely genuine and heartfelt.

  • takeme2cruz

Lin was tired not just because heat defense was on him but also the no rest within minutes of each half.

  • zxcvb

He knows Kemba is “the man” and he’s going to get the ball. So he’ll spin it as “I was tired.”

I’m sure he was tired, but we’ve always seen how tired Lin is elite in the clutch. Even during that first Nets game in 2012, the announcer said “Lin is totally GASSED” and then Lin got an and-one right after!

  • KHuang

It’s still incredibly fatiguing, especially as Lin does not have plays run for him and is the sole focus of opposing defenses while he’s playing shutdown defense of his own.

A less hate filled coach than Clifford would play Lin to the 6 minute mark of the 2nd quarter, then sub Lin out for about 2 minutes. Then let Lin finish the half with four straight minutes.

  • sws94

He’s had some really solid games creating shots for others. It’s just he makes bad decisions and bad TOs at times, maybe forces some of his passes. He’s got a really good chemistry with Cody.

  • sws94

I like “fats” summaries and he’s a Lin supporter.

  • Win

How often a player coming of the bench went to Podium twice in a row?

  • zxcvb

I suspect refs will “even it up” next game. And if Lin doesn’t start, he won’t get enough minutes/touches to save the day. Heat probably win in 7…just hope Lin gets unleashed one more time.

  • Alain Gervais

Honestly he he had plays called for him he had 10 point streak early in the fourth. Just got tired. Having Heat swarm him. With winslow who is a top defender. Then go and play defense. Like he said Kemba going off gave him some rest

  • Michael

I dunno I am sure some rookies make a wrong turn now and then.

To meet curry in the finals. I really don’t want to be bored to see lebron by the bay again. Hope CHA and GSW make it.

  • John Focker

Tired because he was doing blue-collar D work for two…

  • Win

Not sure. But anything less than 10 mils is a insult.

  • swijaya

Very wise Mod … Let’s support Hornets to win the series, which will just be further positive to Lin.

One game at a time … But who knows how far this team can go if they are really playing together.

    Go Linnnn!!!

  • DrewBear2

Normally it would’ve been Kemba & Nic playing the last 3-5 minutes with Jeremy sitting down after playing 12-15 minutes straight. I only listened to the radio broadcast, but hearing what happened towards the end I assumed Jeremy was gassed.

  • LinMad

I think it’s time for Lin to start over Lee. 41 minutes for Lin would be 20+ pt game guaranteed and possibly 30 pt game with 4-7 assists.

  • John Focker

Not his fault though, PG not his natural position and too tall for the job.

  • DaBoss

Yes they both played well and are both getting the credit 🙂

  • JoeTeam

he still played great D. He was just not initiating, and when he did, he did not get 2 fouls called, so may as well give it to someone else to score against the cheating refs. Tell ’em, Reggie!

  • Win

It will works only if Hornets willing to start Lin and KW next season.

    No more bench!

  • LinMad

yep i heard him say that. Lin gave Kemba a compliment first and he got it back. I forgot what Lin complimented.

  • jimmyL

    Nah keep Lin fresh
besides Lee is more fit to guard Wade

  • John Focker

Yeah, Lamb 7M and Bev 6M under old cap space, Lin’s gotta start from 10M-12M minimum, ideally 15M+.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin played great I’m just loving it. I know you want him to start. He is doing great for his free agency.

  • LinMad

Are you sure? Lin made Wade sit in 10 seconds with 2 fouls drawn. Lin has contested many of Wade’s shots and made him miss too.

  • Win

You can even say Lin won this game by saving it early in the 1st half.

  • zxcvb

In the end it was Kobe who was Charmin soft.

He needed to learn from a true warrior like Duncan: when you’re really strong, you let others lead. Shaq and Pau got those rings. Kobe is fun to watch on YouTube clips, but he was second banana really.

  • KHuang

Yet I still think Lin can overcome that.

The Heat have no answer for Lin’s quickness and savvy off the ball.

Even when Lin himself doesn’t have the ball, Lin’s defender’s inability to check Lin off cuts is warping the entire Heat defense out of whack. Whenever Lin is on the court, his off the ball movement is forcing all five Heat defenders out of position.

That causes the aging Heat to scramble to help guard Lin – and that creates opportunities for all Hornets while also taking the punch out of the Heat’s ability to shoot rested jump shots.

  • John Focker

I’m just wondering if Lauren Holtkamp gets to ref the next game… *heart*

  • ty

    Hrmph for Hrmph sake!

  • KHuang

If Lin got rest in the 2nd half, he’d have done even more.

  • HVJoy

I was worried late in 4Q that Lin might be so tired that the chance of injury would increase.

  • takeme2cruz

Those who didn’t vote for Lin for 1st place as 6th man should be ashamed of their works.

  • DaBoss

Yes – Kind of like the Warriors motto “Strength in Numbers” (not ISO).

  • KHuang

Lin starting on this Hornets team would be EPIC FREEZOUT.

  • ty

    truth

  • JoeTeam

and that’s essentially what Cliff said … 2 guys to run into the pain and make those bigs run in and out.

  • LinMad

yep, that was robbery by biased reporters/analysts. I can understand if Lin was top 3 but #7???

  • zxcvb

Even with the “Asian discount,” I’m beginning to think he can get 10-12M per year.

  • Rick Johnson
  • John Focker

This year Jamal Crawford was a lazy choice of people who didn’t do their homework.

  • Alain Gervais

did you see what happened everytime he went off court

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

i think i’m gonna go visit the Heats game thread. i’m sure there will be at least a handful of “we lost to Jeremy Freak’n Lin?!?!” posts but the rest might be fun to read

  • jimmyL

but overall Lee guards him better
Wade is a mismatch for Lin

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

    good for her!

  • John Focker

True worth under new salary cap 18M – 20M. I’d be happy if he got 12M-15M.

  • JoeTeam

Correct, and he starts the ball rolling downhill after he gets it up the hill. Then he says he’s tired…

  • zxcvb

If Cliff really wanted to win, Kemba would come off the bench as a 6th man.

I’ll settle for Lin coming in early — which he did tonight. at the 5-6m mark instead of 3m.

  • DrewBear2

That’s true, but remember that Lee had harassed old man Wade for over 7 minutes before Jeremy got to him.

  • KHuang

Lin is the only backcourt player that can play sustained defense for that long.

That’s why Clifford doesn’t dare sit Lin despite Clifford wanting to yank Lin outta there as fast as possible.

  • takeme2cruz

    Yeah BOOM!

  • Rick Johnson

If so they got to do something to stop getting into a hole with the starters and have to fight back from behind.

  • blueCypher

    good for her indeed

  • KHuang

Clifford plays Lin that many minutes to PROTECT Walker’s poor play.

  • grover chang

If the starters are going to play slow, isolation basketball, then I wish they would milk the clock so they wouldn’t create a deficit so quickly.

  • Briiick

    Bring some salt.

  • Win

    Good for her.

  • zxcvb

Lin always comes in with a deficit against top teams. But that’s the only way they let him play his game. When they have no other choice.

  • Rick Johnson

Hope Lin embarrasses them on their home court.

  • John Focker

You know Jeremy is doing things right when the enemy gets salty! LOL

  • KHuang

Lin doesn’t get breathers like other players do.

That’s been the case for the last four seasons.

  • zxcvb

Gonna need a new jersey next season. #BrookLin

  • Alain Gervais

  • CJSHYY

I think that’s what Spo had in mind…LOL!

  • John Focker

He’s smart, the Heat have much higher chances of beating Hornets with Kemba, rather than Lin, at the helm.

  • HVJoy

Gone is the myth that “Lin does not play well against Heat”!!

  • Rick Johnson

That isn’t going to work as teams get better if they advance. It might not work when Miami is back on their home court. Solution is to start Lin at PG but they will never do that they dovetail Kemba / Lin to give each other a rest.

  • grover chang

Anyone else get the feeling if Lamb and Daniels shared the court with Lin these games would be blowout wins?

  • Alain Gervais

Lin will always have haters. Should i delete this??? Don’t need this here

  • John Focker

Of course. He doesn’t hate Kemba because he’s the reason Heat left Miami 2-0. 🙂

  • sws94
  • KHuang

    Heh heh.

Let them complain that Lin is getting “lucky”, just like opposing parents used to complain after kiddie Lin Linsanitized the pee wee leagues.

  • ty

    pay back is H—!

  • sws94

He’s unimportant. And he’s embarrassing himself.

  • John Focker

Up to you. Salt from enemy can be amusing.

  • blubell

  • JoeTeam

he doesn’t know bball if he writes this … bank 3 is not luck. You just adjust as the defender comes to you and take what you can get. Though JLin says it was divine intervention, you don’t go for bank 3 unless you are challenged and you see a chance …

  • Rick Johnson

Jason McIntyre ‏@jasonrmcintyre 2h2 hours ago
Unimaginable thought 5 years ago: Jeremy Lin could win As many playoff games as Knick Carmelo Anthony. NY going playoffs next year? Lol

  • CJSHYY
  • zxcvb

Love it! P*ssing off racists is always fun.

  • KHuang

That’s what I was writing BEFORE the playoffs started.

Lamb in particular cannot be checked by the Heat’s unathletic guards, Winslow included.

  • John Focker

20pt win with Daniels and Lamb.

  • JoeTeam

let them think it’s luck until it’s 4-2 CHA.

  • JoeTeam

we need another vid about what Lin said! She now knows she’s wearing a badass on her ankle …

  • CJSHYY

This is good one. Pay Lin salary like Melo now. LOL!

  • grover chang

This math is incredibly off. Lin has only won 4 playoff games. I’m sure Melo won more then that just in Denver alone.

  • jimmyL

nah Lamb and Daniel can’t guard a stick

  • KHuang

Clifford deliberately went away from what worked in the regular season.

He just doesn’t want Lin and Lamb constantly upstaging Walker, Batum, and Lee.

  • takeme2cruz

    Lin was talking to Cliff.

  • CJSHYY

    He said Melo in NYK.

  • grover chang

Subtle call out of Walker to play defense. I like it.

  • KHuang

    Grrr…

Lin has been setting the tone defensively, but Walker’s been LIT UP the whole series.

  • Alain Gervais

I don’t get how you can say Lin is streaky. Him going off two games in a row after being down 0-2. Lin has the luckiest streaking ability in nba history. Also the “streak” in NY after being close to getting cut. Yup “Luckiest” guy in the world. Atleast players art denying he is good. People wouldn’t say this about any other player. Just don’t give him any respect

  • John Focker

Imagine if she ends up marrying Jeremy, what a story THAT would be! Gonna have to invite the guy who did the tatoo to the wedding. LOL

  • joyce ward

Why post that crap here? We just need to keep it positive…smh

  • Chopz

Yes like my man rasheed wallace used to say: ball don’t lie.

  • KHuang

    ASIAN

  • John Focker

Positively enjoying enemy salt, since 2012. LOL

  • grover chang

    Oh, That’s sad.

  • Alain Gervais

as a black guy….im sorry. Its just unfair

  • DrewBear2

Huh? Kemba had 4 rebounds, 3 steals & 2 blocks. Both he and Jeremy don’t get enough credit for their defense.

  • Alain Gervais

He has a lot of subscriber. I though you guys should know he is spreading such nonsense

  • Briiick

I am glad that you change your mind about Cliff.

  • sws94

I agree. I don’t think he’s looking forward to leaving Charlotte, I think he has enjoyed this season more than probably all of his previous seasons overall. It would be better opportunity and money. But mostly opportunity.

  • DrewBear2

I think he meant from 2011 to now.

  • blubell
  • sws94

    Exactly. Hi Joyce!

  • Alain Gervais

    Should i delete It?

  • JoeTeam

… invite the guy who set her up with the characters for the tattoo.

  • blubell
  • Maknusia

Glad that I took over @Michael:disqus ‘s sleeping mode…that gave Victory to Lin and Hornets!!! 🙂

Really happy Lin is having a huge game as he suppose to and capable off. Unleashing Lin gives victory…..thats something Coaches need to learn and trust of what Lin is capable off.

Lets get the Win and move on to next round! Go Hornets…Go Lin!!!

  • Rick Johnson
  • Alain Gervais

    I deleted it. your right

  • Michael

The curse has been broken, no more sleep required.

  • sws94

I happen to know Michael was sleeping while he was watching the game. And his prayers for Linsanity gave us double Linsanity. Great job, Michael.

Good to see you. Linsanity rules!

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • sws94

    Ever again?!! 🙂

  • ty

not too likely. Lin, definitely, a mama’s boy…. in a good way

  • John Focker

I just wanna know who took one for the team and kissed you…

  • sws94

Kemba doesn’t have the Vulcan mind meld quite right.

  • Michael

He’s been like that ever since.

  • Lin’s brilliance to encourage his teammates with positive reinforcement never ceases to amaze me :}

  • John Focker

Dude, we don’t see color here, just logic and intellect. One either makes sense or not, color’s irrelevant.

  • ty

    Word

  • sport

No, Lin can start with his minutes staggered with Kemba! In fact that’s how Lebron and Wade played. It’s just that they don’t want him to outshine their “fake star”.

  • CJSHYY

So Hornets game 1 practice how to foul Heat players that really works now…LOL!

    https://twitter.com/Manny_Navarro/status/724781960799858691

  • John Focker

Hovering hand 2.0: the iPhone hand!!! LOL

Cute Holland went for the waist sooooo…naturally. Happy for the girl!

  • NONONO

Feel bad for Batum. But let’s be honest. If Batum was playing in game 3 and 4 , were we sure Hornets could win too? For sure, Hornets cannot win these two games without Lin

  • sport

Lee’s defense is overrated and certainly doesn’t make up for his lack of offense! Lin was about to pick Wade’s pocket twice in the last two games and drew 2 quick fouls from Wade while shooting to bench him.

  • Maknusia

He had passed the curse onto me! zzzzzzzzzz

  • How much do you think the Nets and 76ers fans salivate over Linsanity? 🙂
With every Linsanity playoff game, remember this GIF for their fans reaction
    https://twitter.com/JLinPortal/status/724755803194810368

  • Win

    IMO

Hornets is kinda of a under dog story too. No super star, not much media attention, no star wanna play there, doesn’t get the call like other super start team.

It is perfect for a under dog story. 🙂

  • Briiick

Batum is not the difference maker Cliff has been trying to sell, but Lin + Batum > Lin + Walker > Batum + Walker.

  • grover chang

I think we are all saying that Batum out is good because Lin gets to handle the ball more, not necessarily that Batum is a bad player? I think he is pretty good as long as he plays his natural position, SF.

  • Check out both JLin and MJ Shrug GIF 🙂
    https://twitter.com/SportsCenter/status/724783700462985217

  • takeme2cruz

good only, perfect is when they win the series.

  • I wholeheartedly agree with everything here. I was worried that Walker would lose the game, but good thing he made his shots. Not trying to hate on Walker (I actually like the guy), but Lin really saved this team once again. Hornets are +20 with Jeremy Lin on the floor and -13 with him off the floor. When Lin went out, that’s when Hornets lost their big lead. They also lost the opportunity to get some separation when Cliff decided to re-insert Walker at the end of the 3rd, which was a huge mistake. Hornets were on their way to a double-digit lead, but with Walker back in Lin wasn’t handling the ball like he would have in the beginning of the 4th and that’s how the Heat managed to stick around and make it a nail biter. This game could have been a much easier win.

  • Alain Gervais

Race is clearly in the middle of this. I notice he gets no respect. Theres a reason. Player respect him so thats good.

  • Maknusia

yup..thats one thing of Lin that we have seen over and over again…immaterial what situation he is in

  • DrewBear2

I wonder if this was during the last timeout after Jeremy had turned the ball over a couple of times in total fatigue?

  • grover chang

Another trait Lin has over other players. Showmanship. I have so many Lin moments burned in my memory now.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

    good player, bad coach

  • sport

I’d take BatumxLin over WalkerxLin. When Batum or Walker is out Lin gets his starter minutes and touches as PG. Quite frankly Hornets would be playing so much better if Walker shot chucker was the one who was out.

  • blubell
  • Alain Gervais

this is true. He reacts like a star would

  • NONONO

yes, But Batum + Walker < Batum + Walker + Lin < Batum + Lin (Raptors game) or Kemba + Lin (Cavs game) < Lin + true P/R center (Linsenity)

  • NONONO

    the coach messed up

  • Win

I used to have a black dude which we calling each other cousin when we were training in the same group in Chase Bank. Color is the a problem here. Is the character what is important.

  • JoeTeam

    not fatigue:

    1. Haslem blocked Lin and didn’t set his feet.
    2. Not sure who, but 2nd TOV was Lin getting driven out of bounds. You can’t do that, it’s against the rules.

  • blubell
  • sws94

I thought it was blocking but it wasn’t called.

  • Singapore BB Fan

First thought was JLin asking the Ref why no foul was called on the defender (possible contact when releasing the shot). Didn’t think the shrug was imitating MJ.

  • Alain Gervais

People do what they are allowed to do. Like the oscars controversy which Lin spoke out on. Race is definitely a big part of Lins story.

  • sws94

    That means blessings?

  • Lam

    The “Lester” of NBA.

  • JoeTeam

first TOV was definitely blocking because feet were still shifting.
2nd one I know from soccer – obstruction. But Lin was being driven out of bounds, and Lin even wrapped an arm around him to get some leverage to stay inbounds.

  • Win

Unathletic guards??? Richardson, Winslow and even OD Green are all very athletic and long imo.

  • james brown
  • heart

Both were blocking fouls. Lin had no room to dribble. Players have to give a path for opponent to dribble. Refs swallowed the whistle on both of Lin’s TOs.

  • grover chang

Longtime NBA fans know instantly what Lin was referring too. A famous playoff moment by MJ. Natural or smart move by Lin? MJ was Lin’s favorite player. Either way great way to create some buzz.

  • k.smith

    great video.

  • KHuang

That’s because Lin’s elite movement off the ball has pulled the entire Heat defense out of position and they’re vainly trying to keep up with the faster Lin but end up fouling.

The Heat trying to guard Lin off the ball is like a drag race with a Porsche against a tricycle – and Lin is the Porsche.

  • Win

It is. And it is a known secret. Honestly it is not easy to be an Asian American.

But hates only produce negative energy and I want no part of that.

Btw, I always said we need an Alien in order for us human being to be united.

    🙂

  • blubell
  • HVJoy

    aw… that is so adorable..
So for Hornets to win Game 5 in Miami, you two should pray and sleep, respectively. Lol.

  • JoeTeam

    hi-5!

  • sport

Glad there are fans pointing out the obvious on twitter!

  • takeme2cruz

He still wouldn’t shoot 28 times.

  • Win

Agreed. I only blame the FO, MJ and Clifford.

  • KHuang

    “Acceptable” bad calls.

In the playoffs, refs do those calls to amp up drama. That’s what the refs are told to do.

More importantly, the refs largely officiated Lin fairly all game long in a way that didn’t give Charlotte a special advantage.

  • sws94

Unless it is a 2 OT game. Then maybe. Probably a 3 OT game.

  • KHuang

    HUH?

Walker got badly lit up by Dragic early, didn’t play defense all game, lost lead after lead, and was a SCRUBBY -7!

  • JoeTeam

that score with Lin reversing under using the basket to protect against Whiteside – so smart. Did you hear in the above post by Blubell … someone “shouting stay with him, stay with him!” at 25 sec?

  • DrewBear2

Maybe. I guess I was trying to hint that it looks like Kemba’s being a good teammate and telling Jeremy to forget it and stay focused for a few more minutes.

  • JoeTeam

unacceptable – first was an easy call, 2nd was easy for the whole arena to see. If they had called the first one, the 2nd one may not have happened. Reggie said it …

  • Win

The first one for sure is a blocking foul!

  • JoeTeam

whatever it was, it was a moment when KW is more in it that lin, trying to pull his head away. Normally, you’d lean your shoulders in if you agree with the hug.

  • takeme2cruz

CPaul is overrated PG. Imagine Lin had what he has: DJ, Friffin, shooter like Reddick and full ball control?

  • james brown

both two TO were fouls uncalled by ref!

  • IsabeliJane*17

Jeremy deserves to play more minutes in Game 5. Unfortunately Clifford becomes (insert any word synonymous to stupid here) when it’s an “away” game.

  • KHuang

Lin’s off the ball decisionmaking is shredding the Heat.

No amount of coaching can prepare the Heat players for Lin’s fundamental soundness in moving without the basketball.

The whole Heat team is absolutely befuddled as to what Lin will do – including Coach Spoelstra who openly admits that he cannot stop Lin.

  • takeme2cruz

I only hope there won’t be any less if Batum is available for game 5.

  • CJSHYY

If it’s tie game like today… Lin will get more min if not he will not.

  • John Focker

I meant amongst Lin fans here on JLinPortal. 🙂

There are “unintelligent” people from all ethnic groups, one does not need to apologize for those of his/her own, or else we’d be doing nothing else all day. LOL

  • Win

And Dragic is a 15 mils player. SMH…

  • JoeTeam

yep, I’m seeing Lin slice the game up so many ways when he’s in. I would love to see this config play GSW just to see how it plays out. Honestly, I haven’t see a PG or SG like lin against GSW this year, including Lin because he was not in this playoff role with the green light to take over.

  • real-dsb

Correct. Both were blocking fouls. In the second one, the defender was sliding to his right, pushing Lin out of bounds.

The problem is that Lin doesn’t sell the fouls like other players do.

  • KHuang

Lin would need a Jeremy Lin on his team to siphon defenses away from him in order to take 28 shots.

The Heat focused four guys on guarding Lin and dared the brickshooting Walker to win the game. This time, Walker came through by SHEER LUCK.

  • JoeTeam

yeah, he tried to hang on to the guy’s hips to stay inbounds.

  • JoeTeam

Lee came through, Walker was holding on losing the lead 3ptr to 2 each up and down.

  • KHuang

GSW would have no more success against Lin than SAS did.

But Cleveland with the fundamentally sound Matthew Dellavedova? That Delly guy is the ONLY player in the entire NBA with the fundamental soundness and raw athleticism to seriously impede Lin’s off the ball cuts.

If the Hornets face the Cavs, Lin won’t be able to cut like this against Delly. Lin would need more help and more plays than he’s getting – and Clifford would rather throw the series than give Lin an ounce more privilege.

  • heart

Heat announcers kept mentioning Dragic’s salary throughout the game. I think they have issue w/ it. They gave me an impression that Spo also does not trust him or Dragic is not fitting in well w/ their plan…

  • jimmyL

    He is a good player

  • jimmyL

    CP3 is a great PG

  • Alain Gervais

lol you think just like me. A completely different genome. That would do it

  • Alain Gervais

Broadcaster talking Lin on Lac vs portland game

  • blueCypher

Kevin Mchale just gave props to Lin on-air in portland game 🙂

  • NONONO

I am so sure Lin can beat him one on one

  • Alain Gervais

    I agree

  • KHuang

    SHEER LUCK AGAIN.

If Walker. hadn’t tried to hog that play for himself, it never would have come to that wildass heave.

  • jimmyL

    lol what he say

  • JoeTeam

Lin is much faster than Delly both first step and on the run. I think Lin’s footwork on D is a lot better too. What say you?

  • Alain Gervais

    Thats Mchale?

  • sws94

In a different system. He’s just frustrated in Miami. I enjoy watching Dragic play. He’s very fluid when he’s going well.

  • KHuang

    Lin is BETTER.

  • blueCypher

he said something like “one of my favourite young men” , “happy for his success”

  • james brown

he did for dragic 5th foul and sit!

  • Brent Yen

    Delly throws better punch maybe

  • sws94

He had a weird way of showing it.

  • CJSHYY

What? Mc really hates Harden now. LOL!

  • NONONO

Next, Bryon Scott would say something like, I know he was good so i had to let him go to better team.

  • KHuang

But they’re paying him to be a GREAT player, not just a “good” one.

  • JoeTeam

hey, welcome here thought you only love the twitterverse. I’m on twitter, but don’t want to get addicted lol.

  • KHuang

Lin’s been overpowering and outquicking Dragic for the LAST FIVE SEASONS.

    Nobody should be surprised.

  • jimmyL

I love Lin but even I can’t say that with a straight face.
CP3 is one of the greatest PGs I’ve ever seen play
Great play maker unselfish great scorer great shooter good defence
He’d be better off w/o griffin tbh

  • Lam

I think he liked Lin as a person but not as a BB player?

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

    from Heats’ game thread..

  • sws94

Byron will say I made him tough. Came in like Charmin, out like a rock.

  • blubell
  • JoeTeam

yeah, I agree – that was a terrible shot selection with the game on the line. You could see after Lee got fouled KW was just saying … Praise the Lord!

  • John Focker

“We’re trying to win here, Jeremy!” LOL

  • ViNuyork

    haha…dats a good one 🙂

  • takeme2cruz

Pat Riley traded 2 first round picks for Dragic and his expired contract last season. He hoped Dragic would help save the Heat season due to injury. Well they were all fail. Riley again double down his mistake by giving Dragic max contract afraid that he would leave for nothing.

  • blubell
  • sws94

    OK, I guess so.

  • NONONO

Bryon Scott is bad coach. But he let Lin start 20 games more than Clifford has done for Lin.Who is worse?

  • vincent

do you think if Harden neveer came to Houston he and Lin would have good relaitonship? maybe he was forced to play harden cuz of morey just like cliff and kemba

  • Chopz

    More like the Lin-borghini.

  • jimmyL

Dragic will never be a great player every one knows that
A lot of guys get paid 15 and they arent great players
Parsons, Dragic, Bosh and so on

  • khomphuong2

    Really? cool

  • jimmyL

He played well with gerald green but now green is just a scrub

  • John Focker

The part about out like a rock is at least partially true. The mental anguish Kobe/BS caused Lin helped him further strengthen Lin’s mental toughness. Right up there with diamonds now. LOL

  • jimmyL

im sure he meant it he always liked Lin it seemed but hes a company man

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

hard to say because BS was just setting Lin up to knock him down

  • jimmyL

i dont think he ever lked harden

  • takeme2cruz

You forgot 15 mill vs 2 mil but I can’t say who’s worse.

  • sws94

As a pure PG, he’s one of the best. But he doesn’t really rise up and get wins in big games like Lin does. CP3 is technically a better player, but is he a better winner? I’m not sure. Lin with Griffin and Jordan would be tough to deal with. Add Redick and it’s even tougher.

  • JoeTeam

really enjoyed how Lin neutralized him easily on the way to beating Wade on the “shrug-3”. Yeah, that’s what we’ll call it … I’ve patented it. Every JLP fan can use it license free.

  • KHuang

The Knicks are the one team that doesn’t want Lin.

And with loser coach Kurt Rambis, Lin wouldn’t even be permitted to play for the Knicks.

Phil Jackson is running the Knicks into the ground with his obsession with the triangle offense.

At least Jackson should get someone who knows the triangle, not a failure like Rambis who doesn’t know the triangle well and has predictably alienated all the current Knicks while losing like crazy.

  • chan c

Congrats , JLin! Let’s go all the way!!!

  • John Focker

Kobe was hurt and DNP in more games than Kemba was?

  • DaBoss

Yes, Kevin. He was able to overcome your shredding of his confidence and biased treatment with flying colors. He’s stronger and better for it – no thanks to you or his other sorry coaches.

  • KHuang

    Scott worse.

Scott ran brutal practices to try to INJURE LIN so that Kobe Bryant could beat Lin in practices.

It did not work at all.

  • MEL LIN

did jun liu post his highlights yet?

  • sws94

Has anger management problems or something. He has a lot of athleticism and talent, but doesn’t focus it right.

  • james brown

still a good move..they can trade him when one great player of PG caliber come FA or in the market!

  • CJSHYY

Haha! Dolan is really dumb. If he took Lin last summer right now it’s NYK vs Heat.

  • Alain Gervais

Cliff is leagues ahead of BS

  • NONONO

Lin believes it. But I do not think Clifford and Hornets other players have ever dreamed on it.

  • takeme2cruz

    wow

  • haha .. you mean to the Finals?
Let’s freeze the Heat first in Game 5 🙂

  • KHuang

    Yes he did.

  • KHuang

    NOT ASIAN

  • takeme2cruz

    on stats and paper.

  • KHuang

That still doesn’t excuse his seasonlong TERRIBLE PLAY.

  • John Focker

Bosh is just getting old and bothered by health condition, he used to be great. Agree on CP25 and Dragic.

  • sws94

Lin sort of asked him to take over. However, he could have looked to playmake rather than just dribble around aimlessly. I’ll give him credit for hitting the rim.

  • Hi IJ 🙂

Unfortunately, JLin would have to save the starters again in Game 5 ..
That’s why he’s so tired bailing out from deep holes without much PnR

  • Win

    1st half Highlights.

  • sws94

Health problems for Bosh. And he compromised his game to play with Wade and LeBron.

Parsons isn’t as good as Dragic to me. Dragic is very good, Parson, ok good.

  • KHuang

As a longtime Suns fan, no one is LESS impressed with Goran Dragic than I am.

He’s really just another selfish James Harden, only he’s not as crafty as Harden at working the refs.

Dragic “led” loser after loser in Phoenix. I’m glad he’s gone, though I despise Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe even more.

  • takeme2cruz

Too much money, not sure anyone would want to touch.

  • Win

Wow. I guess now he knows Lin is better as a person then you know who.

  • james brown

individually, he’s great! different stroke , different player

  • sws94

Maybe that’s why I liked him, next to Bledsoe he looked fluid.

  • John Focker

IMHO, 1) CP and Lin suit different systems. Lin’s game more like Nash’s. 2) Lin has intangibles that exceed CP in certain areas, such as elevating teammates’ game and infuse energy and excitement to both players and fans alike.

  • blubell
  • Alain Gervais

    lol

  • Win

    That #(@#&@)#&#&)

  • occupatio

    lol

  • jimmyL

    CP3 is very consistent
    Lin dissapears some games too
Overall I think CP3 is better
he doesnt rise up because hes so consistent always playing so well with his 20-10
its not that he’s missing hes just doing as well as other games

  • Alain Gervais

    Got that from harden

  • Lam

    Really, is that true?

  • jimmyL

    or everything

  • Alain Gervais

    It is. Its smart

  • occupatio

seriously, nothing to say about this. its just so funny.

  • John Focker

So sorry your team’s all messed up. I blame Ryan McDonough.

  • CJSHYY

I really think that video do help Lin get more calls even NBA didn’t say they were wrong. LOL!

  • jimmyL

yah dont like his attitude so he gets what he deserves

  • KHuang

    But they DID NOT WIN.

They did have that one 48 win season, as Dragic got 3 picks on every play and was protected by Channing Frye.

When Frye left, he took Dragic’s game with him.

  • JoeTeam

not true, but hey, he learned from harden. Basically I saw good fouls called, not Harden style.

  • takeme2cruz

Good comment but I would also add, Lin is deadly better when he drive but slightly less dangerous shooter. Lin is also a much better defender mostly because of height.

  • Lam

lol, Does Lin ever get yellow card for “simulation”.

  • jimmyL

    yikes
    bledsoe + knight = a huge mess

  • Alain Gervais

He does a great job getting his arms out. And people hit it. Wish he got hard calls but hey it works

  • takeme2cruz

Lin has never had ball control since Linsanity so he has not disappeared.

  • KHuang

    Gerald Green simply lacks fundamentals.

Had he attended college for four years, he’d have been a boderline All Star scoring about 15 ppg on a winning team. Sorta like a poor man’s Grant Hill.

  • jimmyL

    Not really
he was irrelevant on the raptors then a role player in MIami

  • Win

    Of cause.

There is no way NBA will admit they are wrong as if they do, the entire system will collapse. But 100% they will tell the refs to be fair on Lin.

  • Alain Gervais

    hard= harden

  • jimmyL

    not at all
hes been awful but i know he can be good
Lin is better though for sure

  • Lam

Lin needs to buy those fans who made the video and sent letters a pint of beer.

  • james brown

if he’s asking just to shoot 28 times, jlin can, but 28 efficient shots, it will never happen unless its a one day game event!

I will add that maybe he can also get at least 10 to 15 assist, 10 + rebounds and 4steals…too much too ask for????anyway, its a 24 hour game!!!

    LOL!

  • JoeTeam

well, the difference is, you need to put your arms out to do layups. Harden gets underneath someone and comes up and out to exaggerate. I know he coached Lin on that because I think Lin talked about it once. But I don’t see much fake stuff in lin’s fouls. He gets hit. I mean, last game, Whiteside had his arm pulling Lin’s basket-side bicep (right) down and Lin missed with the left and didn’t get the call.

  • takeme2cruz

just don’t use you fact to block his arms.

  • KHuang

I TOLD the Suns ticket sales people that their moves of Dragic and Bledsoe and Len and Goodwin and those guys were going to FAIL MISERABLY.

They were impressed by my knowledge, but they insisted that the Suns would be “great”. But I was right and they were wrong.

What really impressed the Suns guys is that I told them about how good Jerryd Bayless (an Arizona native) would be if the Suns had him. Though Bayless constantly struggles with injuries from playing garbage roles like what Lin does, Bayless would have helped the Suns far more than Knight or Bledsoe have.

The Suns are headed in a terrible direction. I am no longer a Suns “fan”, the team is so bad and getting worse. Only Lin could save the Suns, but I don’t want Lin on this toxic franchise.

  • Alain Gervais

Yea harden sure know how to get calls.

  • HVJoy

I agree. I believe the intense media attention after the no-call flagrant fouls video went viral, has “reminded” the NBA referees to be more fair with Lin.

  • jimmyL

    slighty?
lol you should check his career stats
.473FG% hes deadly better when he drives and when he shoots

  • Singapore BB Fan

    Bad loser…

  • james brown

holding the heat to a stall then get the lead and increased it took much of the energy , not only once, but twice.

  • jimmyL

i said he disappears in some games where he doesnt play well

  • JoeTeam

he has troubles with his teammates too …

  • HVJoy

    did you mean “face”? 🙂

  • CJSHYY

I read few tweets from Heat side about Hornets got lots of calls… I hope NBA will not ignore Lin again next game. But I replied to one of fans by use what Wade said about Lin. He’s a good player (i.e. “Lin PnR”)

  • KHuang

After all the unjustified race based criticism Lin has gone through, I now mercilessly hold nonAsian NBA players to the same hater standard that most people hold for Lin.

  • John Focker

He VERY RARELY plays badly when playing as starting primary ball handler. He’s been playing mostly SG in the corner since second half of his first year in Houston.

He’s a great PG, but asked to do Novak’s job, then gets blamed for not being consistent.

  • Michael

Says the guy with “Starfish Wade” on his team.

  • james brown

who knows where..there’s a team who only look at the paper and seldom watch the true color of the player in a true game..they will pick him up i guess?

and come next season or more, its no longer big money!

  • JoeTeam

ps I like that KW tries to pump Lin up. We don’t like his iso, but he’s a good player. Some of those layups were incredible (heh heh, not as good as Stephs 🙂

  • Alain Gervais

    Soccer quote?

  • KHuang

Lin would never get past the one guy in the NBA who is fundamentally sound enough and physically rugged enough to impede him:

    Delly of the Cavs.

Now if Lin had plays run for him, he’d make mincemeat out of the less athletically talented Delly. But Lin doesn’t have plays run for him, Delly does. Edge, DELLY.

  • John Focker

True, but then again my late-cat was leagues ahead of BS. LOL

  • Singapore BB Fan

In Game 3, Ref missed the call when Whiteside goal-tender Jlin & Lee’s shot.

  • Whiteside is feeling defensive since he can’t stop JLin LOL

  • zxcvb

Excuse time for the Heat! Lin got the ball and made him his b*tch. Lin should have gotten 2 more FT trips last night.

Meanwhile, Whiteside has gotten away with 4 goaltends this series.

  • JoeTeam

You’re on KHuang … I can’t wait for CHA to meet CLE.

  • Lam

yeah, unfortunately that’s the only team sports I really get to watch 🙁

  • Chopz

He must be talking about wade : )

  • John Focker

He sure injured Randle. Now I don’t like Randle at all, but he did not deserve to be injured by own coach.

  • james brown

    rookie comment?

  • John Focker

Lin “disappears” when his role is taken away. It would happen to ANY PG.

  • Alain Gervais

Harden would get some many of those yellow cards. Lin a few to be honest.

  • Nice Game 5 summary of Kemba and JLin role. Plus JLin close-up giving funny post-game quote 🙂

    @hornets
PLAYOFF REPORT: The Hornets even up the series 2-2 in tonight’s Game 4 victory over the Miami Heat!
    https://twitter.com/hornets/status/724812601603944448

  • John Focker

I think he just embarrassed himself on social media. Whiteside complaining about the “Asian guy who doesn’t belong”?

  • DaBoss

    agree

  • KHuang

Since Lin didn’t get picks from his own Hornets, Lin simply picked Miami’s defenders off each other.

  • Chopz

    Pitchers for everyone.

  • KHuang

Scott thought that because Lin was Asian, Lin would be the first to hit the injured list and then Scott could play nonAsians in Lin’s place.

But then Lin physically outlasted the entire team, to Scott’s horror.

  • rookie75094

    Or in: charcoal. ..out: diamond

  • KHuang

For Lin, Delly is the only Cav that terrifies me.

He has been playing Lin to standstills for a while now.

Delly chases Lin relentlessly, the way Lin chases everyone else. Nobody in the entire league defends Lin better than Delly does, though Bayless of MIL is a close 2nd.

  • rookie75094

Tell that to the racist hater kkklutch.

  • sws94

Whiteside’s comments are comical. He said Lin likes to throw his arms at people. And Cody flops.

    Sore loser.

  • Alain Gervais

He is known for being immature

  • John Focker

    Low EQ…zero class.

  • haha .. Still need to get past Round 1 & 2 before meeting Delly & the Cavs 🙂
I still think JLin would up his Saiyan level in every Round to get over Delly.

If JLin can attack a physical big shotblocker in Whiteside who we thought as JLin’s weakness , JLin can certainly get past Delly ..

What do you think of JLin’s fatigue after 3 quarters? Too much defense and using his speed to do full-attack?

  • KHuang

Absolutely no, McHale did not want Lin AT ALL.

Before the Harden trade, McHale was angry that Lin was his starting PG and tried to get the hobbled Shaun Livingston to start ahead of Lin. But Rockets management shut McHale down. That was before the Harden trade.

Lin was coming off that knee injury early. McHale assumed Lin just couldn’t compete in the NBA even though Lin was dropping 20 point games and dunking.

Morey and McHale were angry at Les Alexander for forcing Lin on them.

  • KHuang

Simply too many minutes in a row, plus Kemba Iso.

    That’s what limited Lin.

  • Yascar

    Totally.

  • jimmyL

Well that doesnt make him better than cp3 whos been doing it for years

  • Win

Wow. I am really surprise that Hornets realgm posters also think Lee has been mad selfish….

  • KHuang

Whiteside is a physically dominant player, but he’s not fundamentally sound and is not cerebral.

Delly? He’s just as cerebral as Lin despite being not as athletic. And now he’s being talked about as a $10 million PG next season – far more than what Lin will get.

  • jimmyL

doesnt make him better than CP3 though, does it?

  • Win

    pathetic loser

  • jimmyL

why would i bother? tell them yourself if you want

  • heart

Whiteside shows his immaturity and sore loser mentality, and he falsely accused Lin of doing something that he didn’t do in this game. To set the record: Lin drove straight to the basket to score not to ref-bait for fouls like Harden. Lin got fouled legitimately. Zeller got knocked around and did not flop.

  • Bulldog

He is a great player in a wrong system. The most amazing quality of Lin is his ability of adapting any systems and shining. Rox, Lakers, Knicks and Hornets will miss him sooner or later.

  • Martin Chong

Very erotic description ypu have there…

  • CJSHYY

I think Lee probably fight for his price tag for his next contract.

  • Joe what do you know

    Whiteside never played against Harden?

  • jimmyL

Whiteside is a scrub and i stand by it

  • Win

Most likely. After all, it is all about $$$

  • JoeTeam

I will love that matchup this year then … JLin will eat at the Delly!

  • jimmyL

lol if he really does, im happy because you gotta do those things to thrive in the NBA
so whiteside is saying hes not skilled enough to avoid fouls

  • Great ESPN article.
It explains JLin has been tired after 3 quarters of fighting through professional leviathan Whiteside and dogged rookie defenders
    https://twitter.com/JLinPortal/status/724816250644357120

  • jimmyL

Lin flops more for the offensive charges

  • Alain Gervais

I think Cliff told him to be more aggressive. The defense has to respect him if he will play a ton which he is. It got a bit annoying. He should choose his spots better but We got the win

  • John Focker

We’ll never find out. No one’s ever oppressed CP like that before. If someone benches CP for Bev, then we may find out. LOL

We DO know that Ty Lawson was dragged through the mud and didn’t even last one full season playing with Harden, while Lin lasted two. So at least we know Lin’s better and tougher than Lawson.

  • jimmyL

Harden is the best at it

  • Win

I gotta admit his D is good. It helps a lot!

  • I think Lee tried to be help being aggressive to attack the paint but he’s not as good as Lin and Kemba to finish.
So it took him out of his element a bit

But his defense has been great to complement Lin and Kemba

The rest of the Hornets need to step it up. I hope Marvin Williams will regain his swagger to post similar 12pts/14rebs effort

  • james brown

    cp3 being sg?

  • Alain Gervais

    And those rebounds

  • KHuang

    Hee hee.

Whiteside is so clueless, he doesn’t even realize that the reason he and his guys keep fouling Lin is because Lin is killing them in cuts.

    CHECKMATE.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

i enjoyed reading the Heats game thread. such a display of emotions; anticipation, excitement, a touch of cockiness sharply followed by shock, anger, and topped off with a lot of bitterness

  • JoeTeam

I agree, Lee made a great 3 in the first half, and his play in the last 3 minutes was the winner. Lin got them there, KW sort of carried the remaining minutes in fade, and then Lee won it (after Lin got Deng to knock it out of bounds to make a stop). Kam was the one that made me mad – he wasn’t very effective. I counted 2 tap outs to MIA this game. They adjusted to his great game 3. MIA could not adjust to Lin, he has too many tools. Just gas him out because Cliff lets them.

  • jimmyL

Lins always been better than Ty

  • jimmyL

being consistent as primary ball handler

  • Pete Roces

Place CP3 in Lin’s shoes, lets see what CP3 can do at the corner watch KW ISO….no stars can excel when they are in Lin’s shoes.

  • james brown

but playoff is a different banana..it all boils down to who can adjust well and show composure!

jlin helps team defense, while delly focused only in one player.

  • DaBoss

Spo and Wade did not realize Jeremy was the real deal back in 2012. They didn’t then, but they sure do now LOL

  • CJSHYY

I am really glad Lin played so well vs Heat in this playoff bc in the past he always been labeled as couldn’t vs Heat or Linsanity was end by Heat …. smh! This time it’s Heat can’t beat Lin. Haha!

  • Nolimitation

Are you kidding me the heat had plenty of star calls in the 1st 2 games.

  • I think you just summarized the last 3 seasons of Houston Rockets LOL

  • Michael

Last game probably got into his head a bit.

  • CJSHYY

I really think Lin is so perfect for Kemba bc he will not need to take lots of shots but he can help Kemba in D a lot. My guess that’s why he played such long min next to Kemba. I think he maybe will stay.

  • james brown

will he be consistent if he’s been yoyo’ed as a SG and PG, BUT MOSTLY A SG? i know we’ll never know because they being used differently.

  • jimmyL

He will never be in that position so that argument is invalid
He is not tall enough to play SG and he is too good to be forced to watch KW iso

  • jimmyL

That will never happen hes too short to play SG and hes not the athletic freak that AI was
Also, he is too good to be yoyo’d

  • CJSHYY

Spo said highly on Lin back to 2012. He knew Lin can play well since college.

  • Win

MasterIchiro: Yeah, luckily we have players who can penetrate. Kemba is lightening quick and highly skilled. Lin is very aggressive.

This guy is real garbage. He always try to down play Lin’s performance.

  • jimmyL

I don’t see how the Nets are gonna run pick n roll with Lopez, a post up player and Thad Young, a SF, not even a big
Thats horrible for Lin these 2 love to iso
Bogdanovic is HORRIBLE hes so unathletic he can’t guard any one, virtually useless

  • james brown

he will stay if cliff make him a starter, pay him out with market price tag, and contract assurance that he will be protected by any whimsical coach!!!

    lol

  • Michael

Tends to happen when you have multiple championships. Which makes the spurs fan quite unique.

  • DaBoss

    Spo is one smart guy

  • real-dsb

Nice, the writer gives Lin a ton of credit!

  • james brown

throwing wade and lebron on jlin is a sign of respect!!!

  • CJSHYY

If they really going to give Lin contract then they sure will work something out for him. Or they will not want him.

  • james brown

but now, wade is just an ordinary player for jlin as a defensive assignment!

  • DaBoss

well, no – Wade and Lebron thought Jeremy was a scrub and wanted to put him in his place

  • james brown

hornets has no PnR big men also, but its working well now

  • jimmyL

They need to change the whole roster but will they do that for Lin?
    Lopez is still very good
I hope Lin finds a good fit

  • Nolimitation

Dont forget Melo too. It was basically 4vs6. Melo just came back for that game to sabotage Lin

  • zxcvb

Lopez is really, really skilled. He can hit the midrange and he can catch and finish for easy dimes. Young is athletic and can run the floor. He also had a decent jumper until the lack of PGs in Brooklyn.

Bogdanovic can shoot 3s very well if given space. Perfect catch-and-shoot guy at 6-8. Kilpatrick can shoot as well, but I’d rather have Bazemore next to Lin. Bazemore can cut and shoot.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin ids getting the praise. When that happens. The jealousy rises. Juts like Insanity period. Its expected. Just show how well Lin is doing

  • jimmyL

    not really
the regular season was pretty boring

  • KWC

    CP3 broke hand

  • jimmyL

God Bazermore is so good I wouldnt mind Lee either but the best SF for is Jae Crowder imo hes so versatile

  • sws94

    He’s silly. He contradicts himself.

  • james brown

wanted to put him on his place is as acknowledging that that player is good to great..who can stop him, it needs 2 or more for him to be stopped plus teammates who are jealous of his shine.

its a disrespect for a lebron/wade to guard a scrub if lebron/wade thinks he was really a scrub. yet they did it because spo needs to plan and he did planned well…

  • sws94

He started to not force so much, then he played better. He played better in the 2nd half.

  • zxcvb

Yeah, I like Crowder a lot. Though Boston really wants to keep him. Perfect Brad Stevens player. Also, the Nets could always trade Brook Lopez (Boston needs a quality big).

But I think Lin and Lopez can work together beautifully. Check him out playing PnR, off ball, transition with D-Will last year:

  • heart

Ed Davis got FF1 for jumping down w/ both arms laid on top of Rivers head. Clipps vs Blazers 4@9:59.

  • james brown

yeah because its a KW show most of the time, and no PNR for them with dunks after dunks, just the same they got their 48win regular season

  • DaBoss

uh no, that wasn’t quite the case – but ok

  • real-dsb

Well, the charge that Cody drew was embellished.

But if you listed NBA players by how much they flop or sell a call, Lin would be near the very bottom (which is one of the reasons he doesn’t get more calls). Guys like Harden, Durant, Chris Paul, etc flail their arms 100x more than Lin.

  • takeme2cruz

    thanks.

    NBA.com

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Steve Clifford has seen that look in Kemba Walker’s eye. It tells the Charlotte coach to just give the point guard the ball and let him go.

Walker responded, like he’s done so many times before.

Walker had 11 straight Charlotte points during a crucial stretch midway through the fourth quarter and finished with a playoff career-high 34 points to lead the Hornets to an 89-85 victory over the Miami Heat on Monday night, evening the first-round series at 2-2.

“He’s so confident late in games that he will make the play,” Clifford said.

The smallest player on the floor at 6-foot-1, Walker finished 13 of 28 from the field.

“Throughout my career I have made big plays – that is what I’m known for,” Walker said. “Tonight was a good example of it.”

Jeremy Lin finished with 21 points and Courtney Lee sank two free throws with 4.6 seconds left to seal the win after being fouled on an offensive rebound.

Lin, who kept Charlotte in the game in the first half, said it was fun just watching Walker from the corner – and taking a breather – down the stretch.

“I told Kemba to take us home,” Lin said. “It’s on you.”

Game 5 is Wednesday night in Miami.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra called Walker “dynamic.”

“He’s a handful in the pick-and-rolls and there is only so much you can do with that little guy,” Dwyane Wade said. “He’s crafty. … And every time we tried to make a comeback, he hit a big shot.”

Lin also was a handful too, maneuvering his body in the lane to draw fouls and get to the line. He finished 8 of 9 on free throw attempts.

“Walker and Lin, they put you on your heels,” Spoelstra said. “They are aggressive and make you have to defend with position. You have to expect that in the playoffs – great performances.”

Lee finished with 11 points and helped hold Wade to 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting.

“We fought so hard tonight,” Lin said. “Up 18 and then all of sudden up one. We put everything out there and I’m glad we got the win.”

Joe Johnson led Miami with 16 points, while Luol Deng had 15.

Charlotte dominated in the paint for the second straight game, outscoring Miami 44-30.

Miami trailed by as many as 18 in the second half, but pulled to 76-75 when Gerald Green knocked down a 3-pointer from the left wing with 6:07 left in regulation.

    Walker took over from there.

The runner-up for the league’s Most Improved Player buried a pull-up jumper from 18 feet and sank both foul shots after drawing a fourth foul on Wade on a drive. Walker made a 3-pointer from the left wing, added a floater in the lane and another pull-up jumper to push the lead to 87-80.

The Heat kept battling back, though, with Wade’s jumper and a free throw by Hassan Whiteside cutting it to two.

The Hornets nearly squandered their last possession, but Walker threw up a desperation 3-pointer to beat the shot clock that hit the front rim. Lee went for the rebound and was fouled. He swished both shots to make it a two-possession game.

Lin again provided a big spark with 11 points in the first half, helping ignite a 23-6 run.

“He was the one who kept us in the game and got us going,” Clifford said. “… His great strength is the ability to drive the ball and get it off into the paint.”

The Heat trailed by 18 in the second half, but responded with a 17-1 run, though they could never regain the lead.

“It’s tough to overcome that (deficit) on the road,” Wade said.

    TIP-INS

Heat: Won the previous two games in this series at home by an average margin of 22 points. … Wade left the floor to have his ankle re-taped in the third quarter but didn’t miss any of his planned playing time. He said he’s fine.

Hornets: The Hornets held Miami to 13 second-quarter points … Were 25 of 30 from the foul line.

    BATUM NOT READY

Nicolas Batum missed his second straight game with a strained foot and his status for Game 5 remains in question. Clifford said before the game Batum’s foot is “very, very weak.”

    SEEN AT THE GAME

Several of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers were at the game showing their support to city’s crosstown NBA team, including linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis, running back Jonathan Stewart, wide receiver Devin Funchess and coach Ron Rivera.

North Carolina men’s basketball coach Roy Williams was also at the game, along with former NBA star Dikembe Mutombo.

    LIN’S BANK SHOT

Lin knocked in a bank shot on a 3-pointer in the second half and shrugged his shoulders like Michael Jordan as he ran back down the court.

“That was kind of `Angels in the Outfield’ type of shot,” Lin said with a laugh. “I thought it had no chance of going in.”

  • wow … it’s unfortunate for him and the Clippers
That’s why we need to pray for JLin every game for his health!

  • DaBoss

Do you not know the back story? They were not acknowledging Jeremy as being a good player or giving respect to Jeremy – they were trying to humiliate him on national TV to show that he was a scrub. Like a rookie hazing. And Melo was in on it.

  • Ben Johnson

Deandre should have left that junk team and joined JLin in Dallas

  • zxcvb

    Truth! Melo done goofed.

Crazy because Lin doesn’t even want to be the #1 option. He’d rather average 18/10 with Melo putting up 28ppg than put up Lilliard stats for himself. But it was all about the fame/spotlight.

  • JoeTeam

hate to see it happen this way for both.

We know this – best games coming up are Lin and Lin.

  • Ben Johnson

Instant playoff team if JLin and Lopez are paired together

  • jimmyL

    Nets are prolly even worse

  • JoeTeam

yep, just games away from FA.

  • real-dsb

thanks for posting about it. we need a place to save these for future comparison videos

  • jimmyL

Nice he’s probably their first option
if they acquire Lin and Lee then a serviceable SF like barnes(matt and harrison)
they can do some real damage

  • heart

We do. I’ve been keeping track all these FF calls on the Sticky page call, List of Lin’s Missed or Non Foul Calls. If you create the video clip, please post it there. Thanks.

  • Alain Gervais

That game tired me out. Cant take another

  • LinMad

Lin playing Deng like a guitar. His signature move.
    http://i.imgur.com/c73LzCY.jpg

  • Win

Dragic is also kinda complaining about calls too. I suspect Heat gonna get a lot more call then Hornets in game 5

  • LinMad

its ridiculous cause Heat got more foul calls than Hornets. 26 to 20. It’s just that Heat fouled the Hornets more when they were driving so they got to the line more.

  • KHuang

Complaining about calls WILL NOT HELP against Lin.

No matter how illegally the Heat shove and trip and grab Lin off the ball next game, Lin will still wear them down with his superior athleticism and decisionmaking.

Lin has the Heat’s number, and he knows it. And there’s nothing the Heat can do about it.

  • real-dsb

Yeah, I can see that. Game 5 is home game for Heat, they’ll probably get a bunch of calls, put some key Hornets like Lin in foul trouble early.

  • Win

Some of my friend call him Brook Slowpez. lol.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • KHuang

When the refs get wind of that, the Heat complaining will BACKFIRE against them.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Ben Johnson

JLin/Lee/Barnes/Ryan Anderson/Lopez…not much interior D, but top level perimeter D and the scoring would be through the roof

  • Win

If Lin doesn’t get fair call on his penetration to the basket, then it will end either a TO or bad shot.

  • sws94

Can Joe go to Miami? Maybe they won’t lose anymore games in the playoffs if Joe is there, lol.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I am worry about that too. I think Hornets probably will not get that many calls in game 5.

  • Alain Gervais

    ohh boy.

  • Win

That what I was thinking too. Dragic just got out played. He is not as fast as Lin and Kemba period.

Lin said it before the season, he see 2 very fast guy running around the court…..

  • CJSHYY

He’s not as good as Lin. Still needs sometimes training in Pro.

  • Win

Wow. This guy is bad luck.

  • CJSHYY

    Portland will win this series.

  • KHuang

That’s NOT what murders the Heat.

What murders the Heat is Lin cutting off the ball and siphoning defensive attention.

Even if Lin is double and triple teamed with hard illegal hits, the court is still opened up for the other Hornets to attack due to Lin’s zigzagging 2 guard cutting.

Lin’s strategy in such games is to siphon defenders toward him off the ball. Then once Lin’s teammates have scored wildly and have to be defended, Lin then sneaks through.

Lin should try to avoid direct iso drives to the rim. The Heat will bash him every time. But if Lin cuts off the ball, he can discombulate the Heat defense so much that they’re already out of position when he does catch the ball to score. That’s how he’s been killing them all series long.

“meaning, joe also watch series in miami with lin.”

    Plus the tattoo girl.

  • sws94

    Definitely the tattoo girl!

  • CaliUSMC

I’ve had the same injury before… mine was about 45deg fracture on 5th metacaparal. Had to wear a cast with a splint for months. Really really annoying injury.

  • Win

Maybe Dragic only mean to complain on the foul calls he got when he was defending JLin and Kemba?

  • KHuang

    Don’t worry.

The Hornets will get their calls and Lin will continue to play at a MVP level.

The Heat cannot defend Lin’s cuts off the ball. He’s too crafty, too quick, too strong, and too unselfish to be impeded. All series long, the Heat have not been able to match Lin’s stamina and savvy in cuts.

  • JoeTeam

I looked it up … 3rd. Deep in the hand. No way he can play. Too bad for him. Would have been better to go out in a loss. Anyway … hope LAC wins a squeaker in 7 so GSW have a chance to win 2 or 3 without Curry.

Jeremy Lin’s ability to drive one of the keys in Hornets’ victory

Kemba Walker sat next to fellow guard Jeremy Lin on Monday night after the Charlotte Hornets’ Game 4 playoff victory for the second straight game.

Walker didn’t look to his left at Lin when he called him one of the best in the league at getting into the lane, because Walker didn’t have to.

    Lin knows it.

Lin penetrated the Miami Heat defense time and again in the Hornets’ 89-85 victory that tied the Eastern Conference series 2-2. He scored 21 points – all off the bench – and was the second-leading scorer behind only Walker.

“The way they’re playing, if you can’t drive the ball, you’re literally going to have to take contested shot after contested shot,” Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. “They’re going to take the 3 away. And (Lin’s) great strength, or one of them, is his ability to drive the ball in the paint, which is critical, particularly in this series.”

Miami has effectively taken the 3-pointer from the Hornets, who lived behind the arc throughout the season. The Heat was successful in that plan in the first two games but has failed at it in the two contests in Charlotte.

As Miami forward Joe Johnson put it, the Hornets were able to get into the teeth of the Heat’s defense. The main culprit was Lin, who took a game-high nine attempts from the free-throw line.

“Man, it’s very frustrating,” Johnson said of Lin’s driving. “We’re trying everything possible as far as keeping him in front and guys going straight up and trying not to foul. But obviously officials see it another way.”

Miami center Hassan Whiteside was at a loss for words on how well Lin draws fouls.

“You’ve just got to watch out for him, because he likes to throw his arms into people and likes to pump fake and get to the free throw line,” Whiteside said. “You’ve got to basically, I don’t know, man. I really don’t. I don’t even have an answer for it. I don’t know.”

Though Lin finished tied with his career high in points in a postseason game, it was the damage he did in the first half that Clifford said kept the home team in the game.

Lin had 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting, and he made all five of his first-half free-throw attempts.

“I was just trying to come in and bring energy,” Lin said. “Coming off the bench is definitely different. If you don’t bring it, you probably won’t play the rest of the half, and that’s just part of being a bench player. So any time I come in, I try to pick up the speed a little bit. I felt like our team needed a little bit of energy, and I did that. Thankfully, I got to the line a few times and was able to calm me down and get my rhythm.”

But Monday night wasn’t all about slicing into the lane and drawing a foul. Even as the Heat took away most of Charlotte’s good 3-point looks, Lin was still able to find one in the fourth quarter.

Four minutes into the final quarter, Lin took a shot that banked in off the glass. He ran back down the court and offered a shrug similar to the one the team’s owner, Michael Jordan, once gave in 1992.

“No, no. I didn’t even think about that until after the game when they said that,” Lin said. “That was just – me and Kemba were talking about it – it was ‘Angels in the Outfield,’ blessing from God. That shot, when I let it go, I was like there’s no chance it’s going in. And it went in. So thank God.”

  • CaliUSMC

Its painful the first 48 hours.. he’s gonna be on some pain meds for sure. There’s no way he can risk playing, it could potentially become a full break. Say goodbye to his 3rd nuckle though. My pinky nuckle vanished lol

  • KHuang

I’m intrigued to see what vicious little tricks Lin has up his sleeve for the Heat defense next game.

I’m not concerned with Lin on the ball. I think Lin should minimize his time before he shoots or passes, for the longer he holds the ball the more likely he is to be illegally hit.

I think Lin will counter the Heat’s illegal grabbing and holding by…

    WAITAMINUTE

Why should I give the Heat ideas to defeat Lin with?

Let them figure it out, though I think illegal tactics are a totally lost cause on Lin and may actually play into his winning.

  • KHuang

    HEE HEE!!

The Heat, including their coaches, are CLUELESS as to how Lin’s actually killing them!

    May it stay that way!

There’s an easy way to stop Lin: reduce his minutes and touches!

Unfortunately for the Heat, only Steve Clifford can do that. On the bright side, Cliff might just oblige. It’s sad that Lin’s biggest opponents are his own coach and teammates.

  • Alain Gervais

The Clippers are just weird. Every year something weird happens with them

they also have zero depth…honestly, Austin Rivers should not even be a backup for any playoff team…maybe for a garbage team like the Lakers, that’s about it

Stars should be replaceable in the playoffs. thats wht the team needs to make all players prepare themselves for the main event just in case something happen. too much reliance on 1 or 2 players will always be a gloom and doom for such a team!

  • KHuang

Even that might not stop Lin.

Lin knows EXACTLY how to beat the Heat.

Lin doesn’t have to put up big scoring numbers or have a lot of touches or play long minutes to wreak utter havoc on the Heat.

  • KHuang

I know exactly why Lin is MURDERING the Heat – and Lin knows too.

Neither Clifford nor Spoelstra are in on this, and the Heat and Hornets sure aren’t.

I’ll keep my thoughts this way until after the Hornets WIN this series.

  • John Focker

So is Lin, except he’s Asian AND from Harvard. Lin schooled Wall from day one but still got kicked around the league like an ugly orphan. CP’s been anointed from the get-go and coddled all throughout, so not really a fair comparison.

  • John Focker

Willows are thinner and less dense, and would’ve taken more damage than my fist. Eucalyptus are dense and don’t easily cave in upon impact, therefore my fist absorbed all the force.

  • John Focker

If you take away Harden’s FT he probably averaged 15 pts a game.

  • cdblue10

MJ was sad during the game…he was probably thinking about Lin leaving after this season and he can’t fathom the idea of his team going to oblivion if Lin was snagged by other teams. It’s difficult for him to make a decision if he will let go of Lin or he will give the promise land since he know who is the best player on his team.C’mon MJ your a great basketball player and you know one when you see one, pull the trigger GOAT!!!!!!

the good thing about playing the Heat is that only Wade gets preferential treatment by the refs. refs have no respect for dragic

  • zxcvb

That’s the only reason I’m sort of okay with Lin not starting Game 5. I feel like they’ll give him 2 quick fouls to “make up” for Wade getting 2 legit foul tonight.

  • Rick Johnson

It’s funny people were concerned about Lin unable to guard Wade due to size. Lin just gets him in foul trouble and sits him on the bench. That’s real lock down defense.

  • zxcvb

Hawes actually led all Hornets in rebounds with 8 in just 16 minutes. He also had the great two-man give-and-go with Lin on the and-one layup to “reignite” Jeremy in the 4th.

“You’ve just got to watch out for him, because he likes to throw his

    Whiteside said.

“Way to bite on those pump fakes every single time, bro.” One of the basketball 101 when play against bouncy shot blocker is to mix it up a bit. Just like that probing-hesitation move-reverse lay-up against Whiteside, that is total ownage.

Wade is just 6’4″ isn’t he? Lin at solid 6’3″ without shoes isn’t disadvantaged against Wade in size at all. Where do these people get their idea that Lin can’t guard Wade due to size issues?

  • morningdew

    1) Cody is one of the most unselfish player on the roster, besides maybe Marvin. Just look at his last second screen for Lee when the shot clock winding down for that key bail-out three. He also plays more in-sync with Lin this game. Unlike their regular season pairing, he often looses focus on Lin’s wrap-around passes. I guess benching sometimes helps.
    2) Cody and Hawes would be ideal big men in the Bench-Force-One with Jlin.
    3) Hawes should take minutes from Frank. Maybe also give Frank his chance of posting up when he is on the court, if he is cold, just save him from being liability on both ends.
    4) Before Kemba sub-in in 2Q, Lee made that transition layup led by Jlin’s steal and assist. I thought that momentum could brew into a real Linsanity game, until Kemba checked in to stop the momentum…
    5) In that hand-to-hand play set up by Hawes, Lin finishes using his left hand.
    6) does not like AL defense in the post. 8/10 of his swipes led to unnecessary foul shots to his opponents. (lazy-a** defense)
    7) poor dragic… he shoots well early, but was essentially taken out of this game by linsanity.
    8) Love that MJ has to give Jlin the victorious “butt-padding” before he leaves the arena.

  • morningdew

It’s not really Wade’s height that makes him hard to guard..it is more his strength and his ability to post up any guards….Wade was posting even Batum and shooting fade away over him and making them.

Watching the replay now. God I hate Steph Ready. Always hesitant to give Lin praises but always ready to be the first one to criticise him. Dragic elbowed Lin’s neck on an offensive play causing him to snap back his head, Collins called it a no-call foul but Ready dismissed it as “forehand to the chest”. Instead of giving Lin credit for giving Wade 2 quick fouls, she whinged at Lin for not passing to Al when he was open under the basket. What kind of home court announcer is this?

  • joyce ward

Great game by Lin yesterday. The only person that will stop Lin in next game is Cliff. Sometimes, i think he wants to downplay lin in this playoff series, so that teams won’t go after him, and to ensure Charlotte offers him a cheaper salary. I noticed now, since all of the NBA player awards have been decided like 6th man of the year and most improved player, Cliff/FO trying to sell the pairing of Lin/Walker. They really must think Lin is stupid. Lin is good playing along right with them, up until he tells them no, I am signing someplace else.(LOL) I think Batum is gone too, because Scott has been fired from the Lakers, and the Laker rumor is that they will pursue Batum. I think Batum will leave Charlotte also if Lakers offer him max salary with him being “the man” in Lakerland. KW is a good shooter, with very limited skills. When the defense loads up on him, they quickly shut him down, and he doesn’t know what to do with his limited skills. Lin on the other hand has adjusted to the defenses loading up on him, and he has become quite crafty with his skills, and not letting them shut him down. If Batum play next game, Charlotte will lose. He and Walker will play that iso role and the Hornets will shut down themselves. When you are a brown-nosing coach for mediocre stars(Walker/Batum), then you are an ineffective coach, and I am sure lin has figured that out, and he for sure is opting out. I think MJ has figured out that Cliff sold him a bill of goods with Batum, Lee, and Lamb. I think Cho/FO is trying to figure out what to do about lin. And the plot thickens.

Really Lakers wants to pursue Batum???!!! I’m not totally sold by Batum’s skillsets. In a sense, I like him when he plays within his means. I’ve never liked Kemba ball that much. Don’t believe JLin will stay in Hornets behind Kemba and anyone else……. Now that JLin has shown he can be a “superstar” if given an opportunity, hopefully more teams will pursue him. I really believe that JLin will go to a team with a headcoach really really believes him and gives him a starter job + decent money.

Where is Kobe’s foul, the most flagrant one. This is CCTV and yet, they still try to protect Kobe’s image? smh

  • Phillycheese

Hornets need two playmakers on the court at all times to share the load. Lin and Kemba need some help to stay fresh. They need a wing like Batum to check the Heat wings. But Batum has to d up else he leaves too much space for the other four guys to cover. They managed this game because no one covered Winslow. I think Miami will adjust, perhaps pnr with Winslow as the roll man.

This makes me want to pray for JLin for his health. May God continue to protect him from injury.

Lin is playing for the win. Next year will take care of itself once the season is over. I’m enjoying this ride like the first Linsanity period. Keep waiting for the next best thing, will miss the current big thing.

Glad almost everyone is caught up w/ her biased commentaries. I’ve come to conclusion that she and Cliff are similar. They’re one of those people who act and say thing to make themselves sound and appear intelligent, but if you analyze what they actually said, you will know it’s all words in nothingness and it’s almost always clouded in w/certain biases.

Also, MJ is looking at the revenue coming in, just from Lin being on the team. They have fans from Taiwan that fly in for Lin home games. Also the seats are selling out at the home games. Lin is really liked in this Charlotte community. Also if they keep the NBA All-Star game in Charlotte and Lin on the team, even more money. So I’m sure MJ is thinking about a lot of things these days.

I have to say that I sense the same thing….They will be campaign hard to get Lin to accept his current role as a Hornets and do it at a discount.

I also agree with you with the Lin/Walker thing…I’m sure they are the one who insisted that Lin goes into the press-room with Walker to answer questions alongside him.

I just hope Lin is smart enough to not give the Hornets a discount but I’m worried that lin may take the bait..he really loves this current batch of teammates and they are winning.

I’d like Lin to finally get a chance to start and if Nets or Sixers offers him such a gig, he should leave. Lin has too much to prove to simply stay in Charlotte as a back-up coming off the bench.

LIN FANS– I see a new pattern emerging that refs and players have found a new way to cheat Lin. I noted that in Game 1 &
2, players can just step in front of Lin while moving their feet to block his path, and the refs would call an offensive foul on Lin instead of blocking or defensive foul on the perpetrators. Each time this has happened, it has resulted in a TO for Lin. These blatantly wrong calls can have a long term negatively effect on Lin’s Turn Over stats and they could also affect the outcome in certain game. This has been the pattern I see happening in these post games. Anyone w/ video skills, please make them and post here so we can chronicle for future video comparison. Thank you.

  • BobbyH

The last 2 TO by Lin in G4 has the similar pattern. I hope Lin watched the film and come up with some counter moves.

Maybe he was gassed that he couldn’t pass the defender in usual speed. Yet, in playoff games these TOs (call or non-call) are critical, especially in Q4.

  • MEL LIN

  • real-dsb

Correct, Wade is only 1″ taller than Lin. 6’4″ vs 6’3″ without shoes. Or 6’5″ vs 6’4″ with shoes.

The reason that people think Lin can’t guard Wade is:

    1. Wade does have 20 lbs on Lin.

    2. In Game 1, Wade had a couple quick baskets when Lin was guarding him, where Wade posted up 3 ft from the basket and had a few easy points.

When that happens to Lin, then it gets magnified into “Wade can score at will against Lin”. But the truth is that, Wade could score at will against any guard if he had the ball 3 ft from the basket with no interior/help defender.

The Hornets defensive rotation was a mess in Game 1 and 2, no interior defense whatsoever. If there’s an interior defender, Lin could hold his own against Wade.

Funny how it seems like when JLIN playing his game he is getting in the mind of opposing coaches. I.e. when you see the opposing coach call an immediate time out after JLIN has done something that is changing the momentum of the game or is consistently exploiting a mismatch or weakness in the opponents defensive or offensive scheme. It’s beautiful to see the opposing coach’s face upset, disturbed, or even confused. Seems like JLIN sometimes is not just playing the other team’s players but is directly playing chess with opponent’s head coach.

  • This guy is really something…

  • CJSHYY

They will not hire him. After BS why Lakers needs another loser? LOL!

  • For sure Cliff/Hornets want to keep Lin as their backup PG, so they only use Lin when desperate and downplay Lin’s contributions. Notice who Lin played way more minutes last night in a close game than in the easy win the other night, yet Kemba played same amount of minutes both nights?

Last night, whenever Lin sat, bad things happened for Hornets. It was almost comical. The BIGGEST mistake Cliff made was to quickly re-insert Kemba end of 3rd when Hornets managed to build back up to an 8 point lead with Kemba resting. Normally, Lin would be able to run the offense in the beginning of the 4th and widen the lead, but with Kemba back, Kemba ran the offense and it became a nail biter. I’m not hating on Kemba and am not trying to be a petty Lin fan always trying to give Lin credit. The reason why I feel the strong need to point out that Lin was the real savior of the night is that buying into false narratives results in bad decisions. The truth is Cliff and Kemba nearly lost the game for Hornets and Lin kept saving the Hornets time and time again. http://www.jeremylintel.com/2016/04/25/once-again-jeremy-lin-saves-the-hornets-and-hornets-win-second-straight-playoff-game-in-14-years/

Hornets better be ready for potential retaliation if the Heat don’t get calls in Game 5. Whiteside is known to blow his cool when he doesn’t get a call. Wade is also known for retaliatory hard fouls for non-calls (see All Star game where he broke Kobe’s nose). Hornets better be ready for some hard fouls. Refs better control the game and call the flagrants.

“As a shot went up, Olynyk darted toward the
basket. Whiteside hung back for a moment, then sprinted at Olynyk and
decked him in the back of the head. Go back, though, and look at what occurred before the elbow. Whiteside was angry about a perceived missed call.”

“The explosion and ensuing ejection came one game after his coach benched
him in the fourth quarter. Two games prior, he tackled Phoenix Suns
center Alex Len and was similarly banished from the game.”

I hope Marvin Williams and Frank the Tank “disappeared” for the sake of Kemba get his stats.
They got to come to play in G5 & G6 as the Heat will knock them hard at their home court. We can’t count on Lin and Kemba win the game for the Hornets by constantly driving to the paint. There will be less FTs and that could swing the result of G5.

  • CJSHYY

Ha Ha. Who is this guy?

The issue is not how many calls JLin gets in the series. The REAL ISSUE is “ARE THESE foul calls legitimate?”

If so, then, why the complains? This is basketball, not football games.

  • JoeTeam

Give Luke 1/3 of that for effort.

  • Joe what do you know

Ouch…. Luckily they should still be able to contain either the Blazers or the Clippers without Steph. Hope Klay doesn’t crack under pressure.

  • JoeTeam

on neither could he have done better had he not been gassed. Those were non-calls. First one, Hasem was shifting in and Lin had him beat. Getting away with that, 2nd one D was actively pushing Lin out of bounds when he made the move to turn the corner. Had first one been called, 2nd one may not have happened because there was plenty of room left to let help come over. Players are just pushing the game, and yes, the non-calls are really important when the game is close.

That’s why I was ok with Lin giving up the ball to KW, because KW was more likely to get the calls. The win then was key, as that means maybe Linsanity can be upheld for at least 2 more games. I am hoping more.

  • cdblue10

We need Marvin offense in game 5 to win this game.I noticed that Al was very effective against Whiteside and that can be exploited too.Lin and Kemba can just do their thing and abuse the lane with their penetration but they need to be smarter this time to include their cutting bigs and shooters.Miami is in disarray right now, they will just focus on Lin and Kemba on next game and Clifford needs to think 2 steps ahead against SPO because there’s no easy lay up this time for our guards although Lin and Kemba can’t be denied because of their superb talent.Otherwise it’s going to be an interesting game.Let’s bring the bacon boys!!!!!!One more thing…give at least 2-3mins playing time for psycho T to whacked that Whiteside to take out his mental aspect of his game…GO LIN….GO HORNETS!!!!!!!

I love your trademark phrase “and the plot thickens” ! It is a great ending for a great post.

I feel that it may be too late for Hornets to try to keep Lin after the inconsistent treatment during the regular seasin: the yo-yo play time, the ever-changing role (PG/SG/…) in court, and Clifford’s comment (Lin is a career bench player) and etc.

Lin inspires to be a starter and HOF player in NBA. I don’t know if another season in Charlotte on the bench backing up KW would help him achieve his career goals.

Greg Owens summed up in this paragraph: “This isn’t a Walker diss post if you had that feeling. He scored 34 points, a career playoff high, and his 11-0 run in the fourth quarter was impressive to watch. But while +/-, just like any other statistic, can be misleading, it wasn’t this time. Walker shot 13-for-28 from the field, way too many attempts and finished with just one assists in 40 minutes. The Hornets as a team had just 10 and are averaging only 12 in the postseason. The Hornets were losing by 7 during his minutes, that included a bad start. As we’ve mentioned a number of times, there are too many stretches during which Walker’s scoring has zero effect on how well the Hornets are actually doing. “http://sportige.com/nba-playoffs-hornets-heat-jeremy-lin-kemba-walker-courtney-lee-95000/

As I’ve said, the playoffs are a new slate, and would be a huge opportunity for Lin to make waves. You never know when a situation/injury could open the door. Lin sure has made the most of it in Games 3 and 4. He’s already gained a lot of national recognition.

If he can help the Hornets win the series, his value and recognition will go through the roof and should give him some starting offers next year (it’s not about the money for Lin, it’s about starting).

  • Brent Yen

Lin has to be extra careful…that is for sure. But given how Lin has been abused for 4 yrs now, I think he will be fine. He knows EVERY TRICK to protect himself…LOL

  • Despite winning the game behind the heroics of JLin & Kemba with 55 out of 89pts, this is not a recipe to win Game 5 on the road. They need to play teamball as the Hornets lost another assist battle (10-20) in Game 4.

Spo actually emptied the Heat bench playing 11 players while Cliff stuck with 8 players.

Marvin Williams/Zeller/Big Al/Frank would need to be involved in the offense.
Daniels can help with his 3pt offense to open up the floor. Lamb too can draw some fouls slashing inside

Cliff is really going away from his regular season rotation. He can’t expect to ride Kemba and Lin to win the series.
They’re still human after all and this is a team sport.

Cliff should’ve lost this game if JLin did not come in to save him from a big hole.
Kemba ISO helped when Lin was tired doing fighting big men and chasing guards through screens on defense for the whole 3 quarters. But I don’t see this working on the road without involving other Hornets.

Hope Cliff wakes up. Or MJ gives more tips to make real changes.

  • wu kong

It would take more than one player with heroic performance to win against Heats on the road. I am looking forward to game 7 where all give all. Only the final epic battle will define who is who.

  • he’s right. Heat has 14-2 home record after All-Star and only 7-8 on the road

Spo made his team playing team game. He’s confident that as long he gets his guys playing well at home, they can win this 4-3. And he’s right.

Unless JLin starts to direct the offense to play teamball, I fear it’s hard to climb up from big holes on the road against a team who actually plays in a team-ball concept

  • CJSHYY

Hope Batum back in game 5.

  • Brent Yen

  • takeme2cruz

It’s a fake jump shot to drive to draw foul, good play good call.

  • DrewBear2

I just watched that sequence again. Jeremy is not known as a flopper. He’s got some heft and is not easily knocked down. But Wade is bigger and clearly knocked J flat on his butt. Wade talked to the refs, but didn’t really try to argue that one.

A few minutes later Dragic trips on his own feet, but Jeremy gets called for a foul. Miami can complain all they want, but I agree that there were wrong calls on both sides. This happens every game and players always complain.

  • sws94

I’ve read some of Miami’s forums and besides saying that the Hornets got all of the calls, they think Cliff has outcoached Spo. So there you go. Perspective, and how much winning and losing can change things. I find myself agreeing with Cliff about some things. Al is important because his post presence creates a matchup problem with Whiteside and a way for the ball to go from him to a cutter or back to the perimeter. Frank’s size creates problems for positioning of rebounders even when Frank isn’t getting the rebounds. Marv is all over the place in a good way, he’s really playing well the last two game but just not scoring the last game. He’ll need to score some. Lee’s defense has been stronger at home and he’s really beginning to wear Wade down. Wade still can come up with big shots, but less than he was in earlier games. Lin is a game-changer so bringing him in to stave off Miami’s runs and really change the game momentum, a big contrast and adjustment to Al’s earlier post-game, is jarring for Miami and very effective. Start Lin and they play to both, so I can see the strategy in doing that. But…

Playing Lin 16 and 18 minutes straight in playoff-intensity energy is very poor player time-management. When he brings LIn in seems late as well. Lee is playing too many minutes. Kemba needs less minutes as well. Yesterday’s game was Kemba/Lin which as psalm says, is not a good recipe for getting it done in games to come. There was more balance in Game 3, and more assists and offensively, game 3 was the better game with more balanced scoring. Game 4 was more points for Lin and more minutes, both games were spectacular games for Lin.

I think both coaches have done well in the last 2 games. Spo may bring in guys like Green and Haslem and they may be effective for short periods of time. But he loses out with Richardson and Winslow, they show they are rookies at times. Wade is 34 and high-mileage and Dragic can’t stay out of foul trouble. Deng and Johnson have been good and Whiteside is a head-case and gets in foul trouble. I think the Hornets have an advantage in that they are more cohesive and more business-like in their approach, their emotions aren’t getting the best of them. But it’ll be tested in Miami and the next game is a tough game.

Lin is now an established big-game performer. For me, he’s always been but every time he steps up in big games, he establishes himself more. He’s totally unintimidated by Spo’s defenses and Whiteside on the biggest stage. From game 1. And I’m very happy for him for breaking through now, on the big playoff stage.

  • sws94

I agree. But Frank didn’t get it going, neither did MW and Lee’s offense wasn’t really impressive in the game either. Even Big Al didn’t score as much as usual. So, KW and JLin had to really get it going themselves. Hopefully some of the other guys get it going in the next game.

  • sws94

I’m not sure Spo is thinking of Lin like a role player. He’s talking about Lin as a major player on the team and has since before the playoffs. Frank really is the role player, Lin and Al are vets you have to gameplan for. And Lin has been the game changer.

  • CJSHYY

That’s one thing I am happy for Lin. “He’s totally unintimidated by Spo’s defenses and Whiteside on the biggest stage. From game 1.”

I believe Hornets will play team ball in game 5. Game 2 & 4 it’s all about ISO Kemba. Next it’s road game. He will play team ball I think.

  • Brent Yen

I think in the pregame interview, he kind of mentioned it. Also the Heats broadcasters mentioned it again….they were trying to figure out which ROLE players are gonna step up and become the X factor

  • sws94

  • Acbc

There’s a reason why dinosaurs died out and simian became the dominant specie on this planet. Only dinosaurs like Clifford look at size as the defining metric for his team. Speed and quickness with intelligence is why we stand on top of the food chain. Watch the sky sometimes and see the little birds buzz the big ones mercilessly and you’ll understand why fighter jets rule the sky and not heavy bombers.

Everyone that worries about Whiteside is thinking like Clifford. Unfortunately for Lin he has to play Clifford’s game plans and that’s where he may actually get hurt. A good coach would design plays that allows Lin enough spacing and targets to run circles around the bigs and drive them batty.

  • Brent Yen

I know Roches have lived pretty long and still is dominating in some sense…LOL

  • sws94

Frank had his quarter. If they think Al and Lin are role players then Lin is a XX factor.

  • Brent Yen

Well…that is just the general perception I guess….a good backup/role player

    1) Leaving a void in the media while one side is doing all the influencing is not wise. That’s how propaganda and untruth spread.

    2) Hornets don’t have to say much, but when they get asked, then they need to counter. They just have to mention Lin’s phrase: “you’ve just got to watch the film!” or refer them to watch the viral video showing the flagrant hits that Lin have had to endure.

    3) Heat is already psyched up and upset. That’s why they’re using the media to do their work. Saying something to put them on notice and to counter their influence on the refs through the media and public opinion can only help bc what Whiteside wasn’t true, but Heat press propagated it.

  • JoeTeam

Look at 6MOY now and compare the impact he’s had off the bench to our JLin.

JLin fans already know, no need to say we told you so. It’s just part of life, to believe in something good and see it play out.

I think we’ll win MIA and then we’ll go onto next and next. Things just needed to line up and Lin was ready for the luck, yet again. Please hold that thought, as a community, so we aren’t buffeted by the insecurities that Trolls use to disrupt goodness in the Lin community. They can’t stand it when good wins, that’s why they are not here discussing things today.

  • The thing is MJ and Ewing had to give Cliff some tips to give bigger role to Frank.
    And it only works 50-50

Hornets don’t want to rely too much on Lin to get Ws in fear of him getting too expensive
But they can’t really win without home.

So this is a battle of trying to win with Kemba (with some help from JLin) and actually wanting to win.
I have a feeling we will see Game 7

  • JoeTeam

I’d add that it’s brain size to body size ratio. All humans are within same band, but it’s how we use that brain then. I think the elephant’s brain is big enough to have emotions, etc. not sure if their ratio is good. But generally, it’s brains to size that makes us a winning species. JLin in the end has too many tools, physical yes top 10%, and uses his brains (BBIQ) and readiness (work ethic) to add tons to his achieved potential.

  • cdblue10

They need 5-6 guys to score double figures to win game 5.It’s going to be a tight and physical game so everybody needs to bring their A game.

  • sws94

Crocs/alligators are still around. Nothing to do with Lin though.

  • Brent Yen

That is based on the logic of Cliffy thinking Lin and Kemba are equal in perception (status). The truth is he think Kemba is a star and Lin is a role player and is Asian. LOL

No matter how good a players play, if perceived as a role player, they are not gonna get the key of the team..Servicible will be the maximum outcome.

  • JoeTeam

right now, it looks like give J the green light until last 5 minutes. So, after 6 mins, until last 5. In that time, JLin has to generate a 15 pt lead for KW to take it in. Whistles have aided CHA. Refs can really decide this series. They really tried to keep CHA down on the 2 JLin ‘TOVs’ … called, it would have been a runaway win no need for KW or Lee rebounds.

I still stand by Charles Barkley’s comment – CHA needs a lead going into the final minutes, because you don’t want to count on Lin to win it (because refs and KW won’t let him), and KW can’t do it. It’s all right there in last 2 games.

  • sws94

Me too. It’s hard to win a game 7 on the road and maybe they won’t, but that may end up being the reason that Miami advances. Of course if Hornets win, then wow. I think if Hornets win game 5, then game 6 at home is very, very possible and they’ve won 4 in a row in that scenario. Guys like Ewing and MJ may stress going all out to win game 5.

  • JoeTeam

lol, tyler and whiteside for 10 mins getting 3 fouls each. That is the answer you are right ….

  • JoeTeam

survival as a species … we have our limits because we live too long and are too big. If globe changes, the shorter life spans adapt faster. Ah well, nothing to do with Lin though lol.

  • heart

Agree w/ you that “A good coach would design plays that allows Lin enough spacing and targets to run circles around the bigs and drive them batty.”
Just hope and pray that Lin won’t get injured, but whoever may intend to do him harm will get it backfired on them instead.

  • JoeTeam

well then, stop fouling … GSW did it against Harden. You just hard D with your hands up, not ready to be hooked.

By my read of it, a lot of Lin’s fouls were body fouls that took Lin off his cylinder, so stop whining, MIA guys … even that KW foul was 2 guys getting him from vertical to horizontal – a WWF takedown.

Cliff didn’t even call a time out when the lead shrunk to 2pt, one possession. Until he reinserted Lin in the game, Lin quickly got the lead back up to 5 or 6pts IIRC. KW squandered the big lead by trading buckets, and gave the Heat momentum until Lin came back on the scene. Cliff and KW were bailed out by Lin and Lee for the critical rebounds when KW hoisted up a brick in a crucial win or lose moment of the game, SMH! His 34pts would have been for naught if Lee didn’t get that critical rebound or Lin couldn’t help w/ two comebacks in this game.

  • Yes, comparing Zeller and Lin +/- in the past 4 games have been very telling:
    Zeller: -20, +0, +18, +20
    Lin: -12, +3, +17, +17

Lin +/- was actually higher in Game 3-4 before he had to share playmaking in the 4th with Kemba
    Kemba: -32, -12, +13, -7

Batum actually made things worse in Game 1 & 2 by going off on his own
    Batum: -33, -18

I truly hope to hear MJ’s assessment of Lin’s play or any comment he has on his game. Because Lin seems to be inspired by MJ and mostly performs really well when he’s at the game. Just in terms of the player, not the business stuff, and what he brings to the team winning, MJ has had to notice how Lin steps up in big games. He’s been there to see it.

It’s a smart move by Lin because refs had to make a call as he fell down.
    Definitely Harden-like moves

There were also non-calls in the 2nd half as Lin got fouled twice going to the rim
So the refs made some favorable and non-favorable calls towards Lin.

This is good to see as JLin got the benefit of the doubt from the Flagrant video that he wouldn’t get otherwise.
Kudos to TeamFlagrant whose video help JLin to get more fair calls

  • takeme2cruz

    Good job detective.

  • donsmacau

So did Coach Clifford engineer Batum’s ankle sprain? What a coaching genius if he did…

Had Steve Clifford not executed the ankle injury – why – the Hornets might have already been swept by Spoelstra’s Heat already.

    Brilliant Coach Cliff!

  • i like these warnings… helps me to not waste my time (or my click, haha).

  • JoeTeam

thanks, that then would make the avg of 4 games that much more stunning for the last 2, right? Amazing how we as humans (Cliff, etc) deny what’s easily seen.

  • JoeTeam

I trust the group discussion. Great data!

  • JoeTeam

I agree, of refs counter at Heat home, Heat complaining works, then they will have to stretch out the scoring until defense game plan is messed up. Then drive hard to get a run going.

  • DrewBear2

Remember the lead was only 6 points when Jeremy sat with 2:38 left in the first half. He’d played a 16 minute stretch. Hornets grew the lead to 18 points without Jeremy.

The 2nd half started great for the Hornets. It really fell apart very quickly. If Jeremy comes in too early, he would have had to play an even longer stretch than he actually did (18 minutes). It’s not an easy problem to solve.

  • sws94

That article is a profile of how Courtney Lee has helped the team. It says hooray to Kemba and Lin in it. The author just wanted to profile a player who is helping the team and says he’s done it with his defense. I did not find it a slight to any other player.

  • oh, okay.

Michael Pina is not too bright

  • donsmacau

    Frank won Game 3
    Kemba won Game 4
CLee runner up in both Games 3 & 4

There is no other way to spin the articles from the Hornets mouthpiece site.

  • Michael

Are you sure you weren’t thinking about these?

  • CJSHYY

Got this from the other side…

fyi: michael pina is the same houston/red94 contributor who routinely bashed and dismissed lin at every turn.

  • DrewBear2

“Playing Lin 16 and 18 minutes straight in playoff-intensity energy is very poor player time-management. When he brings LIn in seems late as well.”

That’s the burden of playing off the bench. Starters get to start, rest & finish. For example, Kemba usually plays the entire Q1/Q3 (12 min), rests for ~5 min before playing the remaining 7 min of the 2nd & 4th quarters. If Clifford gives Jeremy a break so he can finish strong, that might break his rhythm.

  • takeme2cruz

Lin is GONE after this season and that’s all matter.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

Lol the logic of some of these folk.

  • Cookiemole

Latest research indicates that the size of the cerebral cortex plays a big role in intelligence. Elephants have significantly larger brains than humans, but humans have a lot more neurons in the cerebral cortex, which is the area of the brain associated with thinking and planning.

  • sws94

It might, but he was tired in the 4th. There has to be a way to avoid that. I think he could still stay in rhythm with a short rest.

  • takeme2cruz

Never heard of atthehive until the start of this season. Will be forgotten after Lin gone.

  • donsmacau

One way for JLIN to avoid getting tired in the 4th is for the Starters to stop sucking…

Starters are horrible that is the bottom line – we now have 4 games where the stark contrast in +/- tells the ENTIRE Story.

JLIN and his squad expend tremendous amounts of energy trying to save the team from the starting unit.

  • yeah, i skimmed it. it was just a profile on Lee, and it does strongly imply that main credit should go to kemba and lin. (the message I got was: “Yes, the credit for the win mainly goes to kemba and lin, but let’s not forget that Lee helped a lot with defense.)

i think it’s okay to have articles that profile certain players.

  • wu kong
  • Joe what do you know

Well CLee did get the last OffReb. But I can put so many other players before him for a headline of this game. Marv’s defence and energy is IMO more headline worthy…

  • heart

Dragic said “We (Heat) won 3 quarters but the 2Q was too much”. He identified the key winning quarter when Lin was let lose as pg and was able to play his bread and butter game. The rest of the quarters were trading buckets when KW was the ball handler, and he almost gave the game away if CLee didn’t secure the crucial rebound.

  • Michael

Lol trying to bait us with a “who’s awesome”. Thank you guys for filtering things.

  • sws94

Good, that’s how I viewed it as well. Headline is a bit misleading, but the article is fine. Good for Lee, he’s contributing for sure.

  • Cookiemole

He needs to start the 3rd quarter

  • TTNN

CLee is huge in this series, I don’t get why you would consider that’s a Lin hate there. Lee is super active, and doing great in the defensive end, and what he did could not be replaced by Lin, Lin play together with Lee a lot, and I hope Lin could play more time with him.

Lee is the running mate of Lin when Kemba is not on the floor, and what Lee did defensively is great there, and I totally had no problem for atthehive blogers give him some praise.

Really hope posters here do not trying to produce more unnecessary hates to Lin’s teammates.

  • TTNN

i don’t think it is about ranking, it is just that each individual player deserve their own time to be praised. Same with Cody, same with Marvin…… This time, it is CLee’s turn.

  • donsmacau

You seem to drink the Clifford Kool-aid that Great Defense lives in a vacuum?

JLIN is the engine that drives motivation, hope & inspiration on BOTH SIDES of the BALL.and the ways he inspires hard tough defense by trying to involve teammates in the offense rather than rely on Kemba-Iso and Alfense as in Gm 1&2.

When JLIN gets his team active on offense they play HARDER on defense – CLee included (where was CLee’s defense in Gm1&2?)

If you believe that anyone on this team especially the STARTERs even come close to having the positive impact that JLIN has had on all of his teammates you are sorely mistaken.

  • real-dsb

the image is distorted. It will be clearer if you save as PNG instead of GIF.

  • donsmacau

Put aside all the extraneous pontification about what/who/which stats are responsible for what we are witnessing.

STARTERs are HORRIBLE that is the bottom line – we now have 4 games where the stark contrast in +/- tells the ENTIRE Story.

    It is a double edge-sword
    X) Starters suck and JLIN is building to his Legend

    Y) Takes TONS of energy for JLIN to dig out of these Starter holes and he is exhausted by 4Q and Kemba gets to look like he provides a net positive rather than the cause of a net negative.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

starter do suck. and clifford is also making it difficult for Lin to pull them out of the holes with his grueling 18 minute playing stretches

  • DrewBear2

I agree. Hopefully Nic can play at least a little to somehow get that break in for Jeremy.

  • Rick Johnson

Trouble is Cliff is not into making tinkering to make things better. If he gets away with a win he just sticks with that. He doesn’t seem to realize it takes JLin Superman effort to keep bailing them out and he may not be able to do it every time especially if they advance.

  • donsmacau

  • grover chang

Lin could still pull it out in the fourth. Just need people to play together and do some PNR. He can’t keep helping on defense the whole game.

  • I’m actually okay with this article that focuses on Lee’s defensive contribution but also gave shoutout to Lin and Kemba

Hooray to Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lin (can’t get any better for him than going up against Amar’e Stoudemire, who’s receiving little help from others due to them staying home on shooters, in the pick-and-roll) but Courtney Lee also deserves additional praise.

Lee actually will be a perfect SG next to Lin as PG in 76ers or Nets. His defense and fundamentals are solid but he got a bit out of element trying to drive to the rim in this series. That’s not his gave. He’s more a defense and catch-and-shoot.

He can slash to the rim when JLin gave him an assist yesterday but he rarely can create for himself.

The elephant in the room is really Kemba is a great scorer but is no PG to make his teammates better.
No Hornets media would want to talk about it since they hope for the best and he’s a good-character guy.
I think that’s why MJ looks a bit sad yesterday because Kemba couldn’t sustain the drive without Lin on the floor as another threat.

I think for me it’s good to be polite not to bring this up to Hornets media since everything becomes clear next season when JLin leaves. The on-off Net Rating that @disqus_dVLDET9zJ7:disqus speaks for itself.

I admire Lin for praising Kemba contribution and encourage him subtly by saying “it starts with them on defense” which was weird to say since they both just scored 55 pts to carry the team. Lin wants to rally Kemba to lead the team together with defense and passing and attack if necessary. I hope JLin is successful. This guy is brilliant in networking with his teammates.

  • Cliff is human, he doesn’t want to get fired by relying too much on Lin whose one foot is out of the door LOL

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

Wow, didn’t know Miami fans hated their coach so much to even think Clifford out coached him. If I didn’t know any better, I would have though Clifford was standing in front of the wrong bench last night. He tried his darnedest to give away a game by keeping the hot hand off the court. Out coached? Hardly. Just because others say it so doesn’t mean it’s so. It’s incredulous to even suggest that we should think Cliffrod was coaching correctly at all. I like the gal, and yes she is very cute. But “she’s cute” is what we GUYS look at. Asian mothers are well-known for being highly critical of who their sons date. It’s a safe assumption that she disapproves tatoos, as Jeremy himself doesn’t have any (and he probably caught some flak from mom for his ear piercing). I also suspect that she prefers an Asian daughter-in-law.

That being said, this doesn’t mean that she will impose her will onto Jeremy. I think she respects Jeremy enough to let him make his own decisions.

  • John Focker

You may be right, I stand corrected.

  • Win

No hates. I have mentioned many many time Lee defense is very good and maybe even better than the injury prone MKG. But I wish he stop trying to do so much on the offense end. Ever since playoff series, we can see Lee go more ISO compare to the regular season game. He should let either Lin or Kemba to create first.

Another word, defense is his priority.

  • Win

sucks for them. they had a chance to go very far last year but they choked so badly to the rox. it’s pretty much over for them unless their SMOTY saves them the way Lin did for the hornets

  • John Focker

They got the shaft from the refs last playoffs. Not like they were gonna get past GSW, but still got robbed of WCF appearance.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

yeah, they only saw what they wanted to see

  • John Focker

    Quad injury.

  • takeme2cruz

It already did, MKG and Batum but thanks God for Linsanity unleash.

  • yes, it’s really the elephant in the room that noone wants to talk about.

I kinda understand why Hornets media can’t afford to talk about it.
I mean they just hope Kemba and Lin can somehow pull the upset while still making Kemba look good as a scorer.
MJ must have known Kemba limitation but he knows JLin will opt out to see which starting jobs will be available out there.

I just wish JLin will start in Game 7 because the Hornets is desperate to win 🙂

  • I am The Jason

MKG and Batum are not on the level of CP3 and Griffin. The Clippers offense is basically CP3.

G, there is a mistake on Jlin’s NetRtg. It is 14.7 and not 11.7.

  • Good observation!
Also, according to Jun Liu highlights, MJ clapped afterwards at [8:00] mark

    https://youtu.be/_zjcAviIAoM?t=8m

  • John Focker

Perhaps offensively, but MKG is HUGE on the defensive end. His effort and IQ on D was instrumental in Hornets’ win over Cavs.

  • John Focker

I still think Batum sitting out is at least partially a strategic move in consideration of his value the upcoming FA market (though it backfired). Getting swept by the Heat (and Hornets would’ve gotten swept as Lin’s role would be very limited with Batum as primary facilitator) would’ve seriously hurt his next contract. He never expected Linsanity exploding in the Heat’s face. LOL

  • gandychan

Tony kornheiser says “I think he belongs in the league. I think he is an NBA player” about Jeremy Lin. Wtf is that? Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard from him.

Game 4 is definitely a total team effort but it’s Lin who started it right.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Anyone who has treated the Spurs like that in this season deserves total respect not this inept comment.

  • grover chang

I would argue that describes every linsanity game. Lin gets the team ball rolling and everyone starts to follow. Interject Lin to any NBA roster minus a ball hog, they all start to play like a team. GSW, Spurs, Hawks need good coaches and practice to create that type of synergy. Lin makes it seem natural.

  • good observation!

    JLin clearly has @freemind:disqus LOL

  • CJSHYY

    Tony who????

  • Cookiemole

That’s almost exactly what Byron Scott said last year when asked about Lin. I was like, just the mere fact that you consider that a legitimate question speaks volumes.

  • takeme2cruz

They’re starters and contribute different way to their team.

  • PPP

I don’t blame Lee played a little selfish while playing within the flow of the game from time to time since this is his contact year as well. Only offensive stats will guarantee him a fair market contract. Aren’t there some posters wanted Lin to be selfish for his stats too? lol.

  • BobbyH

So what changed his mind? Since when he does not belong? b/c race?

  • PPP

agreed 100%. Most of their posters are fair minded and like Lin there until……………haha

  • Chopz

Wolfman jack is right on about jeremy lin, hoooowwwwwl!

  • real-dsb

Told ya. Wade, Whiteside, and the Heat will be enforcing the paint themselves in Game 5 if they don’t get the calls from the refs that they want.

Better get those flagrant videos ready, I have a bad feeling that we’re going to need them after Game 5.

  • LinMad

new pony tail? It looks longer.

  • Infini

I don’t have Twitter so if someone does, please post this fact I got from Reddit:

Worth point out that Lin is 4th in drives right now, but Harden and
Lebron are 10th and 12th respectively. His FTr is higher (~.7 versus .4
regular season), but that can be partially be explained by 23% of his
touches resulting in drives in the post season, versus 14% in the
    regular season.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/4gj42c/jeremy_lin_has_drawn_24_fouls_in_this_series_as/d2hzkim

Also, the story wasn’t that he didn’t get fouls. It was that he not got flagrant foul calls. That of all the fouls he did get (because he drove so much), he should have gotten a lot more flagrant calls.

  • LinMad

“I think Tony Kornheiser is racist. I think he burn crosses at KKK meetings”

  • takeme2cruz

He has to be 100% healthy or his slow ankle will hurt them defensive end.

  • grover chang

Lamb and Daniels need to play.

  • CJSHYY

For NBA TV that’s big rating.

  • donsmacau

Not in this series he doesn’t.

Seriously though, Miami focused on taking away Hornets 3s and done a good job.

Last game I said Miami takes away Frank Kaminsky’s game by putting larger defenders on him and pressuring him when he puts the ball on the floor – Spo did just that and neutralized Frank spectacularly last night.

Game 5, I see Spoelstra employing a prevent deny defense on Kemba and then moving to a more double team pressure/trapping to take away drives – this will work against Kemba (especially early).

Spo tries the same on JLIN but JLIN will have his bench squad well prepared, look for 8+ assists as JLIN makes Miami pay for their overplay on him.

  • Whitman Lam

Hornets would have home court advantage over Indiana, but not Toronto.

  • LinMad

“we haven’t really talked about the offensive game plan all season …” interesting.

  • KHuang

MKG is wildly overrated, he did NOTHING to slow down Lebron who easily had over 20 points in that Cavs loss.

  • DX

If Hornets passed the 1st round, will be in ECF for sure.

  • KHuang

Will we ever see Lin join a team on which Lin (at least Lin in his athletic prime) is not the primary target of opposing defenses?

  • LinMad

  • Win

If Pacers beat The Raptors and If we are able to beat the Heat, then we might really gonna see the Hornets VS Cavs in the Eastern Conference final. Imagine if Hornets advance to NBA final too? This is gonna be BIG!

  • Lam

Stop Jeremy Lin at all cost when he subs in first quarter after the starters have dug the Hornets in a hole. It will be a blow out.

  • Win

    Go Pacers. Hehe.

  • Win

Use Richardson, Winslow and Green early. Both Wade and Dragic can’t not defend our guards. Wade is not fast enough and Dragic is not fast nor strong enough.

  • Win

Damn Raptors 15-2 runs in the 4th qtr. 🙁

  • Whitman Lam

Some bad turnovers, and no transition defense.

  • Win

Yea. I hope Pacers beat them as I think Pacers is not match against Hornets.

  • Win

6 TO in the 4th is not gonna win you any game Pacers…

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

pacers offense became too predictable. trying just to get George the ball in a switch onto a smaller guard. got picked off too many times

  • Whitman Lam

1-7 Shooting by Pacers. Ballhogging by Paul George and Monta Ellis.

  • Win

I wanna cry. I thought Pacers gonna still this one. They were playing great from 1st to 3rd qtr.

  • LinMad

wow only 2 pts for Pacers in the 4th…3 minutes left. They choked big time.

  • Whitman Lam

Rodney Stuckey and Ty Lawson got badly outplayed in the 4th Quarter. That opened the door for the Raptors to come back on a 22-4 run.

  • Win

Haha. Ballhogging. I honestly think only Spurs and Warriors team ball thanks to the Box Score Fan, ESPN and NBA “Stars” marketing strategy.

Hopefully Hornets will he the 3rd team that play team ball.

  • Joe what do you know

I’m not so worried about the outcome to be honest. Even if the Raptors advance, I don’t see them pose too much more threats than the Pacers when they face Hornets in the 2nd round. Lin has always been the Kryptonite to the Raptors. Might be able to see Lin goes off on them big time.

  • Win

True. Hornets can beat both Pacers or Raptors. But I think beating the Pacers is a lot more easier.

But 1st Hornets gotta beat the Heat. Tomorrow is a must win game.

  • Whitman Lam

The best team usually wins in the playoffs. Toronto is clearly the better team over Indiana. They will be a formidable match against the Hornets or Heat.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Whitman Lam

Solomon Hill hits a game tying 3 …. But it doesn’t count, the clock expired ! Raptors win !

  • Win

Yea…. Too bad. Pacers should have won this game. They messed it up at the end.

  • donsmacau

Hornets are 1-0 against Raptors when Hornets are less than 100% (Batum out)

Hornets are 0-2 against Raptors when 100%

  • Whitman Lam

That is exactly why the backup point guard is such an important role. Toronto started their run against Rodney Stuckey and Ty Lawson (Who has been terrible all season) and soon the lead was gone in the 4th Q. In just a few short minutes, the Raptors took all the momentum.

  • donsmacau

Same happened in the 2014-2015 Hornet’s season with primarily Brian Roberts at point.

  • Win

Ty Lawson is bad and out of shape that I know. Was suppose Stuckey choke too. Missed 2FT in the 4th.

  • Whitman Lam

It all depends on who is defending Demar DeRozan. When Lin started, he did a good job contesting his shots and making him miss. When it was Hairston or CLee on DeRozan, he was scoring at will.

  • Acbc

After the Hornets lost the second game badly, it looked as if the team had resigned to having overachieved their objective by just making the playoffs. The doom and gloom was palpable on the team with Clifford leading the charge to desertion. We were overmatched in skill and in size and in toughness. It appeared to be a sweep.

So what changed? I wrote a little piece about how there are 6 tests of every competitive contest and that a good coach should be able to manipulate those tests to favorite his own team. Make the contest more about speed, quickness and endurance and the hornets will have a chance. Continue to battle at skill, size and toughness and they’ll lose.

When the loss seemed inevitable after yet another bad Cliffrod botched coaching job, he threw Lin out there and something amazing happened. Lin was accidentally unleashed in desperation and coach Lin turned the contest into a running game and a energy game. Lin ran the Heat into the ground and showed how battles must be won on you’re own terms and not by someone else’s. Lin made the Hornets realize that the Heat can be beaten.

IT WAS THIS PSYCOLOGICAL TURNING POINT THAT MAY BE THE ESPN TURNING POINT. The tipping point of any competition is when a team or player start to worry about what they can do to you and you lose focus on what you need to do to achieve victory.

Coach Lin did that all by himself with his unflinching self belief and will power. He singlehandedly willed the Hornets into believing again. This is why Lin to me and Khuang the most powerful and influential PG today. Lin is the rarest of the rare to be so psychological strong that no matter how big the moment, he always seems to have ice in his vein and the clutch shot to win a game. Meanwhile the fake stars are all shaking in their boots in fear and choking like dogs.

Playoff intensity is not just physical. In fact it’s much much moo about the PSYCOLOGICA! Regular season play is like walking across a 30 foot beam 12 feet off the ground. Playoff is walking the same beam 1200 feet above the ground across the top of a skyscraper. The fear is palpable. A misstep and its death. The Hornets in the first 2 games were all looking down in fear at Wade and Whiteside ready to crush them. When Lin came in and was unleashed, the Lin express made the team look up ahead instead at the target they needed to achieve…ON THE ROOF TOP ACROSS THE GAPING DIVIDE FROM SELF DESTRUCTION TO REDEMPTION. Coach Lin gave the team a way and coach Lin made them believe.

In all athletic competitions, if you can’t believe it, you can never achieve it.

JLIN being thrown out there was essentially forced on Clifford by Batum injury – this series already over if Batum not injured.

  • Win

Now I wanna see that little punk (IA the player) get blow out by the Hawks!

    U sucks IA!!!

  • Win

    I mean IT

  • JoeTeam

the catalyst was Batum getting hurt, giving male egos the out of saying … ah well, I’m right about Lin, but that’s all we got. Buy were they wrong. Fans knew. Fans loved the vindication (poster here). Only, it really did help about JAD’s foul video. All 3 of them round 1. Those fouls Lin got helped CHA win. He deserved the fouls, for sure, and they were needed because of the KW and other teammate friction as they get the belief. Soon, if they win R1, they will start to feel like GSW do without Steph. Belief, but GSW has a better coach and have gone through more key points together for 2 yrs.

Happy 2 games coming up. I believe they will go 4, just because that’s what the story needs to be so Lin can Stand UP TALL! as he deserves. Shrug.

  • donsmacau

One of the most disappointing and saddest photos of the season right there folks.

  • JoeTeam

maybe maybe not. I thought Cliff said Batum’s foot was really hurting.
Also, I know FO are not sharp, but they’ve seen the vid now. JLin will have a role, it’s just not clear now much Batum will help or get in the way. I’d say it’s as much a hinderance as Kam or Lee, so anyway, just hope JLin gets his minutes and Batum takes from others.

  • heart

Lin fans need to be on alert and ready to post or tweet out vine or pics if they flagrant foul Lin or try to hurt him in any way. This time the complaint will be more forceful since we also have other players’ FF to compare. Durant got FF2 and was ejected recently from a game.

  • donsmacau

The other players, Kam, Lee etc.. are not ball-dominant point forwards who believe they are the team’s best faciliator.

  • JoeTeam

maybe that while thing is to troll MIA. Also, how good is Batum’s 3? Maybe that’s all he’s being set up to do, as they will have to make a few 3s early to mess up MIA’s game plan to swarm Lin in the paint. Lin needs some kick out guys … Hawes has not been as consistent as Jordan was at LAL.

  • JoeTeam

then maybe this is a time when coaching starts to give everyone a role.

  • JoeTeam

I like it! Now take out the garbage …

  • sws94

I’m not sure about game 5. I think he’s going to shoot more jumpers and get mauled on defense. Depends on if they fall. He’s really a problem for Miami. But we’ll see. I think he’ll do well in game 6.

  • Win

Is ok that Batum is back. Not a bad thing in my thought. But if Clifford decide to use Batum as a Point Forwarder and play Lin 20 mins that we are dead meant.

I have faith in Clifford. He is not that dumb. I hope……

  • donsmacau

    That is a nice fairy-tale.

Batum has a deity status from MJ to Cho to Clifford.

  • JoeTeam

heh heh … hope and faith. I like Batum, he gave cred to Lin … he’s going to want to win more than pad. Imagine what they get paid if they make one more round. There’s $ in these next 2 games.

  • sws94

Lin is a point foward in Cliff’s system. That’s what he’ll be. Lin? 25 minutes probably minimum.

  • JoeTeam

we shall see … I have not for 3 years held my breath. I just stand by and have a screen on and if Lin is allowed to play, I watch. So, my seeing how it plays out is not too intense … Just hope.

  • donsmacau

When Batum is out JLIN has many minutes at Point Guard.

Batum in JLIN has 4 min at Point anything as empirically determined this season.

  • JoeTeam

so if he hits 3 3s, that spreads the floor for him and then, maybe 3 mids, then that opens up the paint. I think he can do it, I mean he did it many times before.

  • Win

AS long as Batum not being a so call Point Forward facilitator and let Lin play as PG and his PnR and penetrating game, then we are ok.

  • JoeTeam

jeepers, almost as good as Sophie Paris’ picture lol.

  • Win

Clifford. I know you are dumb, But hopefully you are not that dumb. You saw it in game 3 and 4. Please let Lin ride……

  • LinMad

true, i think they will try to clog up the driving lanes now and force us to shoot jump shots and 3s. Lin will have to penetrate and dish out.

  • DX

Just wish Batum play with starters can dig a smaller hole.

  • Win

Agreed. I forgot about that. LOL.

  • sws94

I think it can go many ways but I think he’ll have to make outside shots more than in the games in Charlotte. I think Miami may try to take away Lin because he can score and orchestrate the offense. Let Kemba then heroball. Lin may have to get many of his points in CnS. We’ll see.

  • cdblue10

Batum needs to go back to SF position if he’s coming back tomorrow,no room for him to be a distributor,it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

  • sws94

    Nice!

  • donsmacau

There are an ASSORTMENT of problems when Batum comes back:
    1. Batum is ball-dominant and will take ball out of JLIN’s hands (not Kemba’s)’
    2. Kaminsky is forced to Benchforce and Hawes may be out (Hawes playing great)
    3. Al Jefferson likely won’t back to bench but never know with Clifford (disastrous if that happens)
    4. Tempo of game slooooooooows down – detrimental to Hornets success
    5. Half court game emphasis rather than transition

  • cdblue10

Better yet…just watch the whole series.

  • JoeTeam

I agree. I posted earlier MIA will be solid in the paint, so they will have to hit 3s, contested 3s, midrange, to open up the paint. They have to knock MIA off their game plan and then stick it to them. By 8 mins left, if they are 15 up, game over.

  • takeme2cruz

I am predicting there will be a lot of open 3s for the Hornet to take advantage of. The Heat defense can not continue to spread out zone defense without open lanes to the basket. So they will defend the paint much more. The question is will the Hornet bigs knock down those open 3s? If they do, the Hornets will take game 5.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

there’s still hope if Big Al stays on the first unit. what killed the bench force was Alfense. without Big Al, the bench force can run a fast pace offense and defend much better. plus, the floor is spread with Tank/Cody/Hawes

  • JoeTeam

if only they would give up looks for the better look, and stick with it. Ball moves faster than the man running you off the 3. Maybe some set plays where Lin gets the ball to a 3, that is swung across, maybe one more, back to Lin to drive when the paint opens up.

  • takeme2cruz

Yes keep the ball moving please Mr. Walker.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

    That’s old photo. older date.

If. IT is not coming back into the game but it is nothing serious they said and he should be back for the next game.

That’s New York 2 weeks ago. Maybe more reason to go to Brooklyn

  • blueCypher

Ya, I can tell from the clothes he is wearing and the girl on the right it’s from that Fung Bros video

  • Rick Johnson

She was in a Fung Bros video?

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

    trolling us big time lol

  • Brewkowski

Doesn’t matter which team as long as Lin gets to play his game and then the world will see the difference between so called stars (IT, Teague, Schroder) vs Lin.

  • Michael

    Almost.

  • blueCypher

Ya, I think I saw her in that video. Check it out

  • Dan Ang

    Now we’re talking.
Its seems all he do is Lin Lin Lin nowadays!

  • Bulldog

Hornets are 1-0 against Cav when KW sits, while 2-0 when Kemba plays.

  • Rick Johnson

Yes I did. Good eyes. Looks like they are friends. She hugs him and plays with his earrings. One main advantage of NY over Charlotte.

  • Bulldog

I think Lee play well too. His defense is solid.

  • Rick Johnson

Looks like a friend of JLin. Look at the Fung Brothers Jeremy Lin Youtube video at the 5:20 mark when he comes up to visit friends.

  • sport

Lets hope Cliff will still let Lin do most of the ball handling. If Batum is played like regular season then the game is lost. Just hope whatever happens that Lin will still look to score first.

Yup I also believe due to franchise history, Lakers will go after KD he a similar player and physique to MJ and Kobe.

  • sport

Not even the game against Cavs could change MJ’s mind. If MJ even valued Lin he would’ve forced Cliff to start Lin just like he was forced to start Kemba and Batum.

  • This is why the Hornets need to win Game 5 at all cost
    82% is the number
    https://twitter.com/ESPNNBA/status/725165910005260288

  • sport

lol I doubt anyone really buys into Kemba and NBA sure doesn’t! All this promotion is due to their Egos and unwillingness to admit Kemba isn’t a star. Dude takes near 30 shots just to get his 30 points, shooting efficiency is horrid and only those who just look at PPG stats would be misled.

  • CJSHYY

Hope Heat will not try to injury Lin on purpose…. since this is very important for both team….

  • Brent Yen

This reminds me an old thread in CF….every time Lin had pic with beautiful lady, good games follow…LOL

  • sport

From what I’ve seen besides Whiteside, Heart doesn’t have much big men who can challenge Lin to extent. Also they don’t have someone like “birdman” Chris Anderson or Matthew Dellavedova.

    Anyone posted this? Its funny:

    Goran the Tragic Dragon…haha.

    Pardon me 🙂

  • They’ll try to be extra physical to wear Lin and Kemba down like in Game 4.

Hornets need to prioritize defense then run fast-break before Heat defense is set.
RunNGun offense will tire the Heat and open up 3pt shooting

  • Win

Lol. Way way overrated and overpaid. Smh.

  • CJSHYY

I think Hornets maybe will take more 3P shot in game 5?

  • sws94

Don’t like it. Not into mocking other players. Dragic is a good player and all players have their ups and downs.

  • Win

Yea. This is mean. But I honestly think he is overrated and overpaid.

  • Win

Btw, I think I finally know why some of the Hornets fans don’t like this forum…

  • Win

I meant this is mean and we should making fun of a player like that. But to me he is overrated and overpaid.

    🙂

  • Win

    We shouldn’t. Damn I can’t type today.

  • sws94

If someone did that to Lin when he had a bad stretch, would we like it? I wouldn’t.

He had a good year and got paid. I don’t think he’s on the best team for his style of play now.

  • Win

I know. That why I said we shouldn’t making fun of a player like that. I watched him in Suns, he is a ok PG. But a little overrated and got overpaid Imo.

But still think he is better than Eric Bledsoe.

  • Brewkowski

Wow, was it for the Heat? Or Lin? Can’t be a lot of hornets fans.

  • Win

If the video is making fun of IT the player than I wouldn’t mind at all.

Dragic is a player that have class. I give him that.

  • freemind

The foul video had 2 mil 🙂

  • Brewkowski

    Fumd duck.

  • Ben Johnson

Yup, as we all know firsthand, it’s extremely difficult for a PG to play next to a ball dominant SG

  • Win

Agreed on Heat is not a good fit for Dragic. But was piss at Suns so he want to get out of Phoenix asap….

  • Steppen03

It’s Not funny at all. More sad than funny, really… Makes me tears up… if I’m into it. NO!
JL7’s fans are better than this. How do we feel when other people bash JL7 unreasonably ?? It’s still very real – the battle is every day.

  • “Do unto others as…”

as sws94 said, we wouldn’t like for someone to make such a video about Lin during one of his bad stretches.

  • Ben Johnson

You’re right, it’s been done ONCE before by a bench player (Sam Cassell in 95)…let’s go JLIN!!!

  • Steppen03

Yeah, but that’s “his” business and it’s the organization’s business – Not ours. JL7 was criticized for his $25M contract… remember ? And that was Rockets and JL7’s business. Melo and the likes – shut their stupidity – Not their money.

  • Win

Honestly speaking. This is a cruel world and we all know that. On top of that, it is so so tough to be an Asian American so I really think this is nothing at all. I mean, he is still probably 100 time richer than any of us.

  • takeme2cruz

    Wow, Riley gave him this?

    $14,783,000… $15,891,725…. $17,000,450…. $18,109,175…. $19,217,900 (player option too) LOL.

  • Steppen03

Yeah, agreed with that. Think Dragic care ? Think Lebron care ? Well, they’re humans too …so, yeah, they do care somewhat… Still, who’s the fool here ? Probably the one making the video and those enjoying it too much.

  • Steppen03

Agreed. CCliff need to use his best players at all times – like a D’Antoni. Can’t dig a hole and hope for miracles.

  • Win

I don’t think any of the NBA player will visit any forum and check what people say about them. They are too rich for that. Anyway, just my own opinion.

Beside, I do agreed the video is mean. But to me he is still overrated and overpaid. And that is that.

  • Win

The 2014-2015 free agents at the PG position were basically all overpaid.

    Of cause except JLin.

  • PPP

Sorry guys, to be clear, Im not the one making this vid. It was from the Heat GM forum. Just thought that the Heat fans may be just worse than others.

I agree He’s not worthy the money he got but Heat was willing to pay for him. Well, he’s like Lin in Rox w Harden now. Wade just doesn’t like him at all. Maybe after 2 years he will be free to play his game. He got the money so…. I really think he should stay w Sun.

  • sport

This video is sad but I don’t feel sorry for Dragic, him and his brothers are Lin haters. His brother posted on his tweeter when Lin was still a Rocket that he only got those All-Star votes due to his race and that Dragic doesn’t have that kind of advantage and should be All-Star. They are sore losers, glad the Lin brothers don’t do such embarrassing and low antics.

But sad to say, Linsanity can only happen if somebody is injured or sick in this NBA or hornets world. But no, the biggest opponent Lin have are his coaches and star team mates

  • I’m just musing
If we donate $10 for every FT attempt that JLin gets to NBA Cares Foundation, do you think it will help the refs make fair calls? 🙂

  • I doubt Batum will play. Maybe Game 6 or 7
He’d be too slow to make a difference in an important Game 5

  • Rick Johnson

I want to see him get hot and 3 pt working and break his 38 pt record. Would be so demoralizing for the Miami fans.

  • I just read Miami Sun-Sentinel article insinuated that the Flagrant video had something to do with Lin getting a lot of calls.
They try so hard to influence the refs not to give a lot of FTs to JLin.
I think Lin is prepared to drain some midrange Js to draw the defenders out then attack or launch 3s

    https://twitter.com/IraHeatBeat/status/724998724989022209

  • On the eve of the series, an extensive piece in The New York Times chronicled a viral video, titled “Jeremy Lin: Too Flagrant Not to Call,” detailing a perceived lack of respect when it comes to foul calls for Lin.

Wade talks about re-taping his knee in the second half

Heat guard left the game and the bench during the third and fourth quarters

Since then, Lin has taken at least six free throws in three of the series first four games, including shooting 8 of 9 from the line in Monday’s Game 4. For his part, Dragic has done so only once, including no free throws in Game 4.

“I didn’t read it,” Dragic said, acknowledging he was aware of both the article and the YouTube video of the perceived officiating injustices against Lin. “But the whole series is like this for me.

“I don’t know what to say.”

On April 15, two days before the start of this series, the NBA released a statement that said, “After reviewing our extensive officiating database, we have found no data that suggests Jeremy Lin is disadvantaged by our officiating staff.”

The Heat certainly believe that is the case in this series.

“We tried to do everything possible as far as just trying to keep him in front and guys going straight up and trying not to foul,” Heat forward Joe Johnson said.

The Heat also accepted that they have to do a better job.

“We just kept fouling, those guys kept getting to the line,” Johnson said after the Heat were outscored 25-14 on free throws in Game 4.

For Whiteside, the hope is to be more agile in Wednesday’s 8 p.m. Game 5 at AmericanAirlines Arena after being limited in Game 4 by the thigh bruise sustained in Game 3.

“It bothered me, but there’s nothing I could do about it, so I just played through the pain,” he said. “I couldn’t explode on it like I normally can.”

And when he tried to explode, he found himself fighting through more than what he thought should have resulted in only five free throws.

“I just tried to score the best of my abilities when I got the ball down there,” he said. “I know they’re going to grab me and pull on my arms and stuff, just try to finish.”

The goal now is to get their own fouls down.

“We’ve probably fouled more in these four games than we have in the last four weeks,” coach Spoelstra said. “But you have to give them credit. They’re aggressive.”

Spoelstra said there are no plans to play less physical on defense Wednesday.

“We want to be a physical team. We don’t want repeated drives at the rim. We’re fouling quite a bit but we’re telling our guys to be aggressive on the other end as well … We will put pressure on them as well.”

  • Dan Ang

Miami is on heavy spin cycle on this one. It started with the players themselves, then the bloggers, twitter folks, and now the media. They are scared and they are desperate. Sadly, as history proves, this does work. Expect open season on Lin, this is how they will shut Lin down, through the officiating.

  • Dan Ang

Definitely a potential WAG candidate for our boy JLin.

  • With less than 17 hours before game time, it’s good to remember JLin’s prayer request after Game 3 for the right heart + his team to play well & win the next game/series.

For those who pray, pray for health, protection and wisdom since the Heat will certainly step up the physicality to deter JLin from attacking the rim. For those who don’t pray, sending hopes and positive thoughts might also help. Thank you

Jeremy’s new prayer request… was it posted already?

THANK YOU everybody for your prayers for Game 3!! The game was so much fun and a much-needed win for us. Please continue praying for me to have the right heart (been more difficult to fully surrender everything to God during the playoffs), for our team to play well and win the next game/series!

  • It’s classic Pat Riley move to complain about officiating in hope it will influence the next game.
Refs usually will make fewer calls to “even out” the complaints.

The Hornets better be ready with their game plan to execute well and not dig a big hole in the 1st quarter.

  • JoeTeam

Encourage everyone to intently re-listen to the JLIN interview with Matt & Matt.
It is ILLUMINATING to say the least – JLIN is the TRUE LEADER on this team (not clueless Clifford, Kemba or Batum):

    – Honestly we HAVENT talked about OFFENSIVE GAMEPLAN throughout the season and the series the biggest thing we’ve focused on is our defensive gameplan (JLIN laughs at terrible defense first 2 games)

    – JLIN implies the team lost Confidence after game 2 but he himself did NOT lose confidence

    – Was team “snake-bit” (luckless) after going down 0-2 and losing Nic?; JLIN: “still knew we could win games, felt like we just needed to see results”

what i got from that interview was that they worked on defense all season long and it’s still garbage

  • donsmacau

Team offense (ball movement, easy buckets, involvement) …

… breeds good defense – NOT the other way around.

  • your son’s legendary voltaire

exactly. and they’ve never even worked on any of that. clifford’s starters have failed miserably. only the second unit functioned as a team offensively and as a result, defensively too

  • John Focker

I hate to quote Melo, but this contract is RIDICULOUS! Dragic has accomplished NOTHING yet to get a contract like this. To put things in perspective, Curry makes 11.6M (a tad less than Kemba’s 12M).

    Riley is losing his mind.

  • BobbyH

Refs for the coming game. Any thoughts?

    Derrick Stafford
    Kane Fitzgerald
    Jason Phillips

  • Tremendous back to back games from Jeremy Lin. He really has ignited this series and it is all in the balance. Lin has been key for the Hornets and he has to continue to attack and the Hornets have to carry on feeding him the ball. The Heat are struggling to contain Lin. When Lin is let loose he is just tough to stop. With his craftiness, speed and strength, it is a defenders nightmare.

I have just finished writing a new article on Lin. Jeremy Lin has the X factor. Thanks for your continued support as always. I’m quietly optimistic about game 5.
    https://jhaposts.com/2016/04/27/jeremy-lin-has-the-x-factor/

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Heat tried hard to not let Lin gets FT line… bc they had no answer for Lin.

  • joyce ward

The Miami Heat is so petty. Whiteside/Dragic won’t take ownership that they were outplayed. Lin came in with the run game on them and they couldn’t keep up and they didn’t know how to defend it. Thus heat players got mad and started becoming way over aggressive, which got them into foul trouble. I won’t be surprised if that propaganda the Heat is trying to serve won’t backfire on them. The refs don’t like players questioning their calls. Lin fans had refs on tape making unfair calls on lin, and they still denied anything wrong. My guess is that refs for the game tonight will call a fair game and the plays they have question about they will look at replays. The refs have been backed into the corner now, because they know that every call or no call for or against lin is being videotaped. Also don’t expect Cliff to change any strategy tonight. The starters will go in with their usual deer in the headlights look, until lin is sent in to restore the chaos. I really hope the Hornets win, but Cliff is not a good coach, KW is a wanna be superstar who right now is riding Lin’s coattails in this series. Yeah Kemba might score a lot of points, but his impact in this series, has not had the impact lin has, and fans, media are beginning to see it and write and talk about it. Not worried that lin will absolutely have major offers next season from other teams, which is the only thing that I am concerned about.

Jeremy Lin has drawn 24 fouls in the series — as many as LeBron James and James Harden in the playoffs.

  • CJSHYY

I also think Ref will give a fair call tonight. Lin will drive but if Heat players do like they said Lin will get his pts. But if they get too much vs Lin, Ref will not ignore it either.

  • CJSHYY

So right now Lin is as good to draw foul as LBJ & Harden.

  • John Focker

It doesn’t hurt that Violet Palmer is NOT on this list…

  • xeroid
  • BobbyH

Yep, that will break the narrative of no flagrant foul out of 814. So Whiteside should be careful.

  • Rick Johnson

    Must have learned from Harden.

  • CJSHYY

    Haha! Ya!

  • Rick Johnson

I haven’t seen Violet Palmer at all this season. Hopefully she’s out of the league.

  • CJSHYY

    About what?

  • BobbyH

This guy didn’t watch the games. As if Lin didn’t show up in G1/G2 and Kam was the reason for game 3 win. These lazy writers.

  • cdblue10

Lin and Walker needs to attack the teeth of the defense and make Miami on their feet all the time.Despite of Heat’s warning to have a physical game today,Clifford still need to empower Lin and Walker not to settle for jump shots and keep the pace going.Penetrating the lane will lead to a lot opportunities and if they clogged the lane, they need to hit the shooters and I don’t think Williams will have a 5 straight shooting woes in this series,I think this is his time to shine.

  • CJSHYY

Just watched interview from Lin -Matt and Matt with Jeremy Lin – 4/26/16 http://www.nba.com/hornets/video/2016/04/26/1461710836408-160426-LWMM.m4v-477395/

I like the “unpredictable” from reporter as Lin can play in so many way that opponent didn’t know how to guard him… Lin looks clam & relax… so I think it should be OK tonight.

  • CJSHYY

I agree w you. Bc this maybe just mind game from Heat… they don’t want both to attack the rim & make them in foul trouble again.

  • sws94

MW found his shot some in game 3. I think JLin and Kemba have to read the defense a bit and then act accordingly. I expect them to get a lot of defensive attention.

  • cdblue10

Yep,they’re uncomfortable with the penetrations and it makes them vulnerable.

  • Wty

Maybe Lin should start to work on his “Beard”

  • sws94

He’s been calm and relaxed the whole playoffs. It’s great. He’s just enjoying the experience.

  • cdblue10

They will get a lot of attentions and that’s going to be on their advantage as long as the cutters and the shooters will be ready to play today.

  • sws94

Frank and MW need to do more scoring than last game. And both Lin and KW can find Cody. We’re still not sure if Batum is playing and how much he’ll change things.

  • Mr Chuckles

I honestly think that Clifford’s offensive plan for this series is basically what it has always been: KembaBall and shoot threes. The only difference is to use Al to get Whiteside into foul trouble. But once Miami’s defensive plan was to deny the three and use Whiteside to deny the rim, Charlotte’s plan was completely foiled thus the results of games 1 & 2 and the starts of 3 & 4.

The difference for the last two games of course is Lin driving to the rim with great success since the denial of the threes created more space.

I believe two things about this:
    1) This was not Clifford’s plan but Lin doing his own thing recognizing the situation. Lin mentioned taking what Miami gives them. I remember in a regular season loss to Miami, Clifford in the post game saying he told his players to NOT go at Whiteside (meaning Lin).
    2) Lin finding success going to the rim gave Kemba confidence that he could too and that got him going after floundering badly.

Bottom line is, Lin has a better feel for strategy than his stubborn coach.

  • cdblue10

If Batum will be playing today….I hope Clifford will put him on his natural position since they don’t need 3 playmakers on the floor.Batum is a dead shooter in the 3 pt. area and he can help the 2 guards in scoring.

  • CJSHYY

Or maybe said he is just enjoying to play around the Heat in this playoff. Made them in foul trouble for one. LOL!

  • freemind

yes Coach Lin came out to play

  • pistolpete

Miami will be prepared for driving today so Lin and Kemba need to penetrate and pass out for threes. Miami can’t cover both.

  • freemind

can’t help noticing the ginormous ice pac on knee

  • Rick Johnson

I think since the flagrant video players know it’s not open season on Lin anymore and I haven’t seen any really hard fouls on him. He’s more confident of getting a fair shake when driving to the rim and less concerned with being physically assaulted which is making him more aggressive. If Whiteside is planning to take some cheap shots at Lin I think the refs are itching to call a flagrant. Certainly more likely to be reviewed.

  • CJSHYY

He did that almost every game.

  • CJSHYY

I agree. Plus I really think what Heat worry the most player from Hornets it’s Lin not Kemba.

  • LFW

Charlotte Hornets need to take more shots.
Two teams won in last night games won by taking more shots–:
    FGA:
    Raptors: 82; Pacers: 73
    Hawks : 96; Celtics: 77.

Hornets must not be afraid to shoot. And of course ball movement must be fluid.

  • Rick Johnson

Spo made it a point when the report asked about Kemba to say it isn’t just Kemba but also Jeremy Lin.

  • LFW

If Whiteside takes cheap shots or lost his temper, he may be ejected from the game or suspended for G6. Then the Heat wont have s shot blocker and rim protector…

  • CJSHYY

Just saw shooting around video it’s Batum practice 3P so I think he will play today. Maybe Hornets will take more 3P today?

  • cdblue10

You can’t shoot 3’s if you don’t have penetrators…they have to concentrate on PnR and double screens first to attack the lane to soften the defense before they can implement their 3 point shots.

  • sws94

I agree. That means the big men better set good screens. That includes Al.

  • cdblue10

Al should be the one doing this all the time since he has a good 15-18 good shooting range instead of posting up all the time…he needs to mixed it up.The only reason for this to work, is to work as a cohesive team and they have to trust each other….the momentum is on their side.

  • cdblue10

Totally agree w/ this observation and if that happens Whiteside will be totally whitewash on this game.

  • DX

They should but only if falling.

  • JJ Hui

Players now know any Lin fans can make a video of them if they whacking Lin!
    So they better behave!!!

  • lleepar
  • CJSHYY

That’s good. One more weapon on court.

  • cdblue10

He can help the team as a cutter and a spot up shooter,as long as he’s not facilitating and just play with his strength he can definitely help this team, his presence will divert some attentions from Lin and Kemba.

  • JoeTeam

That would be good, to use his shooting to spread the floor. It will be a challenge to play good D and PG with a recovering foot. I hope he focuses on D and Coach gives him only 20 mins to spread the floor, and he’s successful at doing it.

  • JoeTeam

… ABL … anyone but Lin.

  • new Game 5 thread
    http://www.jlinportal.com/playoff-round-1-game-5-cha-mia-game-thread/

With the series tied at 2-2, the Heat and the Hornets will dig deep to win the pivotal Game 5. Historically, 82% of Game 5 winners went on to win the 7-game series so both teams understand the importance of this game.

    1. After 2 straight wins, the Hornets carried the momentum but the Heat had a strong 14-2 home record since the All-Star break. One of those losses coming to Golden State. The other was against these same Hornets on March 17, the Heat blowing a 15-point lead in that one.
    2. After the Heat players (Whiteside, Dragic, Johnson) tried the oldest trick of the book to publicly complain about the officiating giving calls to Jeremy Lin and Kemba, will they succeed to influence the officials to give favorable calls to the Heat?
    3. Would the Hornets be able to bring their 3pt shooting tonight? Would the starters dig a big hole again in the first quarter? The Heat would love to build a big lead before Jeremy Lin checks in to break down their interior defense again.
    4. Would the Hornets be able to dictate the tempo by having strong defense so they can have fastbreak and transition offense to get easy scores and 3s before the Heat defense is set? A faster pace would benefit the young Hornets team by wearing out the legs of the older players in the Heat (Wade, Johnson, Dieng)
    5. Jeremy Lin seemed calmed and determined in the post-practice interview yesterday. He seemed to know how the Heat will try to guard him and his teammates. Let’s hope his quiet confidence permeates to all his teammates that they can win one on the road
    6. Will Batum come back from injury to play tonight? Clifford says Nic Batum participated in shoot-around and will most likely play tonight. No one knows if he would still be slow after the ankle injury but if he’s healthy, he can open up the court for the Hornets.

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s hope and pray that JLin continues to be super-aggressive to attack the Heat inside and drain his midrange jumpers and 3s and helps the Hornets to play teamball to take the commanding lead 3-2

Capt Sullenberger before successfully landing on the river:

controller: something like go to NJ (Spo: Stay with him stay with him)
    Whiteside Sullenberger: “Unable …”

  • JoeTeam

I’m just worried Spo did a Kerr and coached them how to neutralize Harden with hands up. That worked for a few halves, with one half where they forgot and Kerr later said they went back to it and won. Only, JLin can go both ways – it was joyful to watch Harden be useless not being able to initiat left, so he started going to the left sideline to force the defender into a more neutral stance – still didn’t work. And, the fouls on JLin are on the body in the cylinder, so probably will still get calls if they do that.

Go Jlin, show them that ball don’t lie.

Me, let’s pray Lin doesn’t have a freak accident play like Steph or CP23. We know he’s faithful and is on his path, so maybe I don’t need to worry. It’s the follies of man that stop him.

  • heart

None of these refs were in the viral video which is good. Praying they will give fair calls to Lin. Amen.

  • Phillycheese

Only the best refs during the reg season get playoff gigs. Each ref is graded after the games.

  • Phillycheese

Actually both. A key rebound or steal or block leads to fast break and easier transition baskets. Miami did not get any fast break points last game.

  • Phillycheese

    Shaq is wearing Kungfu slippers.

  • Phillycheese

They got Curry after all his injuries, so there were some questions No one thought Curry would break out like he has. An all star perhaps, but never superstar level.

  • Phillycheese

I don’t know if I agree entirely. He has a huge shot blocker to erase his defensive mistakes. He has a couple of young athletic wings that can also spare him on the d end. Dragic might be better off if that team ran him with the youngans more – start Dragic, Winslow, Wade, Deng and Whiteside. Have Johnson be the offense off the bench. And perhaps have Dragic play with Richardson, Winslow, Johnson/Deng and Whiteside. Lots of D, lots of athleticism and lots of running. Wade is slowing them down too much and cant shoot.

  • Michael

    Fierce puppy…grrrrrr.

  • Phillycheese

That what was said about Lin in Houston. I don’t blame Dragic for the contract. Miami sent a number of draft picks to get him and they had to keep him, hence the contract. It worked out well for him. Good for him.

  • Phillycheese

    Lin’s gonna get 40 tonight.

  • Phillycheese

He a little guy so has to play with a chip on his shoulders. I a lot of ways he is like Lin coming out of college, last guy drafted.

  • Brewkowski

And who’s the common denominator? Losing key players during the season would’ve crippled this team if it wasn’t for Lin. Seriously, this whole season’s success is due to the glue guy and not the brilliant coaching by COY candidate.

  • Phillycheese

Coach has seen what Lin can do. More importantly MJ has seen what Lin can do in the brightest of lights. I think thats why MJ likes Kemba so much. Lin and Kemba are both gamers. Batum showed up in game 1 and Marvin needs some redemption.

  • Phillycheese

Cliff was the one that came up with that line up to allow team to win games 3 and 4. Even the harshest critics have to give him props for that.

  • Phillycheese

How’s this for the marquee – The Yellow Mamba vs Whitesnake.

  • Phillycheese

Just watched like 10 Linsanity games. When I got to the blow out win over Sacramento, I spied Whiteside crossing paths with Lin after the game was over. Didn’t realise it before.

  • Michael

Not sure if this was posted but Lin’s point’s per drive rate this playoffs has been linsanely head and shoulders above every other guard.

  • adele

Then it’s going to be a loss. Batum will be rusty.

  • Joe what do you know

Agree. I thought Batum’s injury was not something that could be healed within a week. I think he or Clifdord is pushing it. Don’t reckon it’ll end well…

  • John Focker

More like stumbled onto it due to Batum’s “serious” injury, rather than “come up” with it. He sure didn’t come up with anything in 82 games,

  • John Focker

Problem is, knowing Clifford, Batum will likely be facilitating.

  • Brewkowski

    And?

  • Brewkowski

Isnt that the bottom line? The better players elevate their game in post season and important games. Pretenders shrivel from the pressure.

  • cdblue10

This team can’t run w/o Lin
