Game 5 Detroit Pistons vs Brooklyn Nets: “A Great Chance to Win”

preseason1linpistons1aCOUNTDOWN CLOCK

10 Dec 20:30
San Antonio Spurs @
Time to kickoff
2 days, 23 hours, 04 minutes

Detroit Pistons (3-1) will visit Barclay Center to play Brooklyn Nets (1-3).

The Pistons have emphasized defense by keeping their opponents under 84.5 points/game in their last 3 games (Orlando, Milwaukee, NY Knicks) after allowing 109 points against Toronto Raptors in the opener. This is quite in contrast with the Nets struggle with defense in their first 4 games:

While the Pistons have been playing strong defense, the Nets have struggled defensively through most of their first four games. Although Brooklyn held Indiana to 15 points in the fourth quarter Friday, it is allowing 111 points per game, has given up seven 30-point quarters and allowed opponents to shoot 47 percent.

The one thing that favored the Nets in this game is whether Detroit can be fresh to play a back-to-back game after playing the Knicks yesterday. All Detroit starters played between 32 and 36 minutes so it might have some impact with tired legs which makes it extremely difficult to play strong defense that requires a lot of energy. The Nets can also draw their confidence from beating the Pistons convincingly in the preseason opener 101-94 where the Pistons starters played 24-27 min in a game resembling regular season game.

KEY OF THE GAME: Can the Nets come out with energy and strong defense after the 30-pt blowout against the Bulls? Would there be a lot of dose of Brook-Lin PnR to get Brook involved offensively early in the game? And would Foye (doubtful) or Kilpatrick be able to play some solid backup PG in place of the injured Vasquez?Whitehead just did not look ready being a rookie. If the answer is yes, the Nets would be able to capitalize on this opportunity to get the 2nd win in the season.

Let’s hope and pray the Nets will continue their formula of success, play gritty basketball together as a team, and finish the game healthy!

Let’s go, JLin and the Nets!

On an optimists note, I think the last few games were highly beneficial in exposing the glaring weaknesses of Nets offense and defense. I think these losses will be motivational. And like Lin said, losses can be beneficial IF the team can learn and improve on them.

  • spiderman

    LOL – looks vain

  • psalm234

I agree. I thinks Coach KA also wants the 30-pt loss to leave a bad taste in the players’ mouth so they never forget to play gritty defense again to avoid embarrassing losses in the future.

If we see them coming out the gate with great energy and active hands on D, we know the message has been delivered.

  • Briiick

May the desire for winning never be stronger for tonight. Please put your favorite system behind whatever works better to win !

  • DrewBear2

The same sentiment applies to the team as a whole. It’s a process, not spontaneous generation. There will be setbacks and there will be surges. Game 4 was a setback, but the other 3 games so far this season were encouraging despite only 1 win. Keep calm and, as Jeremy is fond of saying, “Lets go!”

  • Click Click

“Why do we need to keep calm and not overreact?”

  • Grace

He wasn’t born an NBA starter either. He should come off the bench for limited minutes until “his house is more put together.”

  • sws94

    Seems he’s aware he’s underperforming.

  • grover chang

I pray they start winning. If they are out of the playoff picture halfway through the season then there is no motivation. Not really playing for anything. Would just be sad to watch Lin just there, not have any gravity in games to win.

  • CJSHYY
  • sws94

I don’t think this team has aspirations of a playoff berth. Baby steps. The goal is to be competitive, for the team to gel, for the younger players to become better NBA players, and not be in the cellar. There is nothing pointing to playoff contender, not in the preseason and not so far in this regular season. I’m hoping for this team to win between 30 and 35, and that’s not going to get it done to be in the playoffs. However, how they play and how competitive they are, matters for the following season. Also, what free agents they can attract.

  • Rick James

hopefully its not lin fans who have been bashing him constantly…
ugh, i wouldn’t be surprised if it were.

  • Rick James

another 20 mins of whitehead and RHJ it seems

  • pistolpete

Oh no we need him for backup pg. We’re probably stuck with Whitehead. They should play Skill at backup pg cause Whead can’t hold onto the ball.

  • Arsenium12 .

In case you might be interested, on Halloween, Paul Pierce was out with an ankle injury so he attended the Clippers’ game as Rick James ….

Let’s go Jlin!!!! Spank the Detroit flat tires!!!!!!

  • grover chang

I had higher expectations then you. So for me it’s more frustrating to see them lose.

Fred Hoiberg is doing a good job with the bulls. He said the Nets could be 3-0. He says this because as a coach he naturally will imagine how he would coach the Nets after reviewing tape. Hoiberg could see this team should be winning more games. Nets to me should compete for a playoff spot. The coach is underachieving.

  • KHuang

The Nets would be winning too if they made Lin the starter (minutes)!

  • cdblue10

Just solely play PnR and master the demn thing and build it from there.PnR is a motion offense itself but the other 2 or 3 players need to move.

  • Win

Prediction, our front court is going to be destroyed by Drummond, Tobais, Marcus. Our back count is going to be competitive for whatever the minutes KA gonna play Lin which I believe it is going to be around 25 mins. Very much possible that we will play our entire D-League bench around the end of 3rd qtr as KA will again give up this game because we will down by 18 to 20ish.

  • Win

And I hope Lin able to manage a double double out of this game. Just stats padding pls.

  • CJSHYY
  • blueCypher

Detroit front court is good. Hope nets dont get wrecked rebounding and defensively

  • blueCypher

Ya, detroit on back to back is already helping the nets

  • Win

If KA willing to play Brook and Lin regular starter mins, we might have a chance. Piston played last night so.

  • blueCypher

Russell westbrook back to back with clippers then warriors tomorrow. Now thats tough

  • heart
  • CJSHYY

I really don’t know why Nets is so high on him??

  • Win

I don’t want to blame on any players just yet because we have a bigger issue on coaching……

  • CJSHYY

Both… IMO. Hope KA can make some adjustments today.

  • Win

We won’t be 1-3 if it wasn’t because of the bad coaching, we should be at at least 2-2 or maybe even 3-1. I don’t think we can beat the Bulls as they are really good this year.

  • Briiick

Agreed. Building from PnR is like adding an offense from ground up, while the current virtual motion offense is a failed attempt to build a system from top down.

  • cdblue10

Did I just say that before the regular season start?I guess so.

  • cdblue10

Exactly.Motion offense is for high school and college players but not with NBA.Even the WNBA wouldn’t run that crappy system.

  • CJSHYY
  • heart

Said it in preseason too. Almost everyone can see it, why can’t KA or SM? It’s politics at work bc he’s a draftee.

  • Win

I hope both of you are wrong as our team already have a lot holes, we don’t need offense from him, we only need his good defense.

  • cdblue10

It’s either you have or not but unfortunately it will take a light years before he will fully develop.

  • Arsenium12 .
  • kauaiblue

I really hope ka is not forsaking winning in favor of developing… thats not what our boy wants…. can we get a normal circumstance for him to thrive while hes still young? What a bizarre ride we have all been on yhe last 6 years! Sheesh!

  • Yura

I don’t get it. Is this supposed to be a joke?

  • kauaiblue

It doesnt work that way rhj… you need to deliver at your compensation… you are just plain bad… so we need to give someone more deserving a chance… the world does not revolve around you… and it will not wait until you have built your foundation…

  • CJSHYY
  • Yura

    Let’s be positive 🙂

  • Yura

    Lol

  • heart

If his defense is good, but KA encourages him to shoot! Like Lin said: “…if we have to keep re-learning lessons, then to me, we’re not taking
advantage of these opportunities ’cause I think that is what failure is.” We’ll see if Nets upper management have the courage to bench him or send him to the d-league.

  • Pistolpete

Completely agree. Every time it seems he finally gets a chance to excel – BAM!. Some bizarre situation arises.

  • psalm234

I’d like to see the Nets brings the physicality throughout the game.

Coach Atkinson: “It’s going to be a team effort. A physicality you need to bring, night in and night out.” #Nets
    https://twitter.com/BrooklynNets/status/793932663317024768

  • sws94

My expectations are made on how they stack up against other teams in the Eastern division. With the current roster, and not considering trades that could happen, and the fact that they’ve won 2 of 10 games they played, there is nothing to support this team competing for a playoff berth. I’d love to see nothing more than Lin in the playoffs as a starter, but it doesn’t seem they are ready yet for that to happen. They really don’t have the players beyond Brook and Lin. Booker and Bogs are good players, but you need more.

  • YESYESYES

    100% agree

  • Arsenium12 .

I think he treats it (the Harvard jacket) as a fashion item. Wade actually went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, but left without graduating to play in the NBA.

  • Vintage

I think the players they have are enough. What they need is time, and to make sure they keep the right perspective. They will hit their stride this season.

  • psalm234

I have a gut feeling that JLin’s message about staying together, no need to re-haul anything will resonate with the Nets team. They should come out with lots of energy and effort.

    Let’s go get that W!

  • blueCypher

    Just win . Just win

  • cdblue10

My concern about Nets is they don’t want their main assets to get hurt, of course who want this kind of thing to happen but playing safe just to get through the process will hurt the team chance to make the playoff this season and that’s a slapped to the face to the city and the fans who support this team hoping that this team could at least compete w/ the 8th spot.

Lin will make it his early mission to get this win…. would be very surprised if Lin does not demand enough time to get the job done

  • YESYESYES

i don’t think Lin has been used like QB yet. If Nets wants to win, Lin should direct 60% + offense. it like 20% so far except the second game.

why did he take lin out?

  • BobbyH

    Where is Lin?

  • SeaKing33

    omg RHJ….

  • Vincent

damn i hope brooklin keeps it close so lin can finish out the game lol

  • zxcvb

They got a big lead and Lin’s minutes are getting high for a 1st half. Also he took a hard spill — no injury but a good time for a breather since Whitehead is doing okay tonight.

  • psalm234

    Brook 4-5 from 3s
    SKil 3-3 from 3s

What has the world come to? =)

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

    Is Lin hurt?

  • zxcvb

    No.

  • Win

Lin had 16 mins. That pretty good for the 1st half. Not a bad idea to rest a little imo

  • blueCypher

Glad they are killing the pistons so far. Basically the whole team is hot, lets see how they do when they cool off bit

  • SK

That’s like the 3rd time RHJ has tried that behind the back dribble. Probably the sloppiest and slowest behind the back dribble move ever. He needs to stop trying to dribble.

  • pistolpete

Atkinson is coaching like a robot again. 8 minutes each quarter.

  • psalm234

I like that Whitehead is getting some confidence and just play now.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

why didn’t he finished the final 3 minutes?

  • Steppen03

NOW That’s what we’re TALKING about!!! BrookLin Offense!!!

  • cdblue10

RHJ just needs to look for cuttings and just short jumpers not trying to do a lot of things because he won’t win any match up against anybody on his position.

  • zxcvb

Great game! Just another reminder how real FATIGUE is. Bucks took advantage to beat the Nets on Saturday.

Now Nets taking advantage of the Pistons. Just gotta keep up the energy through the 3rd.

  • SeaKing33

    he honestly doesn’t need to

  • pistolpete

Hope it’s not a blowout or Lin will not play much

  • Win

Brook is a Monster tonight. You just gotta play your best players.

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

I think to give Whitehead time to play when quarter ending and team up significantly

  • cshot

giving him some rest for the 2nd half lol

  • JoeTeam

Nice first half, really nice. Brook Curry. JLin getting to do what he wants, a couple of mistakes pushing hard. Yeah.

  • Steppen03

GREAT! Waiting 4 your analysis and pics

  • CJSHYY

He plays long enough. There is still 2nd half.

  • zxcvb

Kenny is keeping guys minutes down for health and to test other guys.

  • psalm234

yes, let’s hope the Nets can keep the energy throughout the 3rd quarter.
Just keep running the Pistons out of the building

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

I hope the same thing since I’m here at Barclays to watch him play

  • sws94

He actually made some good plays. Some good plays, some rookie plays, but he’s playing a lot better than RHJ.

  • cdblue10

    Indeed

  • ty

who told this guy that he can dribble past anyone…. hope not the coaching staff

  • psalm234

That pullup 3 by Brook really resembled Curry’s move =)

  • zxcvb

Right now, I’m just happy for a win. Lin’s stats are good even with low usage and they will be BIG once the season is 10-20 games old. Right now, Kenny is keeping guys minutes low to pace them and see who’s worth keeping.

  • blueCypher

Did lin get injured, he was not on the bench closing 2nd quarter

  • Joe what do you know

    So true!

  • Steppen03

    We need blowouts!
But can’t rest too much – Can’t take it easy until final minutes!

  • pistolpete

KA is back to robot subs. He played Lin exactly 8 minutes a quarter

  • Win

Knicks got blow out by Rockets by 20 pts

  • Click Click

Crazy first half. Not sure we’ll see that again lol…

    https://i.sli.mg/avGi7X.jpg

  • Win

    Happy for Mike D’Antoni

  • zxcvb

Memphis rested Gasol and Conley already. I think this is a “new” movement by a lot of teams.

They are really, really watching the minutes of their top players. Imitating the Spurs.

  • xeroid

Lin has 1 TO which on replay showed the referee missed the extra dribble which showed not a violation of travel. He’s 4-6 with 10 points which showed on replay that one layup he missed should be a goaltending, so he should be 5-6 with 12 points.

  • psalm234

    HALFTIME
    Lin 10pts/4asts/2rebs
    Brook Curry 24pts with 4-5 from 3s
    SKil 15pts with 3-3 from 3s

    Nets up 16pts, 71-55

  • zxcvb

14p. Should have had 2 FTs on the “travel.”

  • zxcvb

It’s typical to go to the locker room early when you get subbed out that late with big lead.

  • zxcvb

OT: Leadoff HR for the Cubs! I hope they end their 108 year curse tonight.

  • Click Click
  • cshot

omg jeremy is out with a strained hamstring

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

I’m not seeing Lin coming out of the tunnel.

  • zxcvb

They keep cheating Lin on offense, but I’m glad they’re letting him play defense.

I can’t recall a single BS defensive whistle on Lin in these 4.5 games. I’m sure some are coming when he plays CP3 or Curry, but so far it’s very clean on that end.

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

    Noooo!

  • psalm234

oh no.. strained left hamstring for Lin

    https://twitter.com/BrooklynNets/status/793977960537563136

  • CJSHYY

Someone talked about Lin go straight to the locker room based on his request that is why Whitehead came in with two minutes left…

  • xeroid

Lin played 15.41 minutes, the most on the team.

  • psalm234

strained left hamstring.. so he’s not coming back 🙁

  • CJSHYY

    What? No more Lin…???

  • Click Click

Lin supposedly strained his left hamstring… out for 2nd half. ><

  • zxcvb

SHIIIIIT. I was wrong. Gaaaaaah. I hate this.

  • cdblue10

    Wait….what?????

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

This is so sad. Like the time I took the whole family to Houston to watch Lin play and he got hurt three minutes into the game. I watched three games in Texas with no Lin. I hope he returns next game.

  • Win

    🙁 Hope he is ok.

  • zxcvb

Injuries…damn it!!! Hammy could be troublesome. Could be a couple games. Or a couple weeks.

  • MEL LIN

    seriously. damn

  • CJSHYY

    Oh! NO….

  • Alaingrvis

Can we not catch a break

  • Jedi

    Cry…

  • Click Click

This such horrible news… hopefully Nets can win this without Lin or any legit PG. ><

  • MEL LIN

    is he ok what happened.

  • psalm234

Man, if Lin requested to go to the locker-room, it could be serious.
Hope he just needs rest 🙁

I wonder if SKil and Brook can carry the 2nd half to get a Win

  • LinJa

    😭😭😭😭😭😭

  • cdblue10

So far Brook is still playing where he left off

  • Briiick

Fortunately it’s on his left hand.

  • Vintage

Left hamstring strain. Those type of injuries can linger… hopefully it’s not too serious

  • LimitedEdition

Jeremy Lamb also has a strained left hamstring and was reported to be out 1-2 weeks.. Hope Lin’s is less serious and only out for a few days

  • Win

    Brook!

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

I don’t even want to stay at this game anymore. Got a really good seat. Brought my most cooperative kid. Intent on focusing on the game and bring back to you my keenest observation.

I even bought and wore a Lin jersey.
But with no Lin. Not fun AT ALL.

  • psalm234

man, Brook finished that drive and dunk with authority!

  • cdblue10

He’s playing insanely unreal right now.

  • cshot

i understand man. thats gotta suck so much.. sorry for you man

  • Click Click

Foye with strained hammy, Lin with strained hammy, Vasquez with sore ankle… what is going on?!?!

I thought Nets were supposed to have a great strength and training staff this year…

  • Win

I hope they can still win this game…

  • heart

Dear God, please grant Lin speedy recovery! Amen!

  • Howan Cheung

    I feel you. Big disappointment

  • CJSHYY

So Lin will miss at least 1 to 2 weeks?

  • zxcvb

Nets training staff is garbage so far. Lin and Foye pull their hamstrings. Vasquez reinjures his ankle.

So incompetent…ruining Lin’s big chance already.

  • Dan Ang

Sorry to hear that. Go to the game against the Hornets or Rockets, some good swag at those games.

  • Rick James

strained hamstring is in the leg…..im not even a doctor and i know that!

  • Click Click

Such a downer in such a great game by the Nets… 🙁

  • psalm234

    Amen..
All prayers are needed. Hamstring can take weeks to recover 🙁

  • Vincent

hopefully its not too serious and they are just taking the injury very seriously

  • Win

    Carry us Brook!

  • sws94

I guess we’ll hear more. I’m going to the game Friday, probably LIn won’t be there. But the important thing is to hope it’s minimal and Lin won’t be out too long.

  • psalm234

Let’s hope he can come out to join the Nets at the bench.
If yes, that’s a good sign

  • MEL LIN

I am so mad right now. ahhhhh

  • Joe what do you know

    Whitehead is getting eaten alive…

  • Win

    All Iso now…

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

I’ll let you know if I see him

  • BobbyH

Not looking good. Three straight Iso. Lead cut down to 11

  • psalm234

sorry for a bad turn of events 🙁
    hope Lin is ok soon

  • Alaingrvis

Nets cant afford Lin to be out. Didnt see him hobbled at all. Odd if he is out its serious. Weve seen Lin play thru some bad stuff

  • zxcvb

I just hope Lin is okay by next week.

Charlotte game is a 100% loss without Lin. Probably by 20pts. But there’s FOUR days off until the next game after that, so if it’s not bad then Lin can return with minimal games missed.

  • zxcvb

Yeah, he made a layup and drive right after. Weird. Maybe it’s just precautionary (only 1-2 games missed).

  • cshot

oh it came before the layup?

  • psalm234

They stopped playing motion offense and took early shot in the clock.
They need to get back passing the ball around

  • blueCypher

Did anyone see how he injured it

  • zxcvb

I think so. He took a hard spill on the goaltended basket, but he didn’t hurt his knee or ankle or anything. So he seemed perfectly fine.

  • cshot

zxcvb thinks that it might have been from that goaltended layup fall

  • PETE B

Did you notice Lin in pain or discomfort?

  • gandychan

Omg. I just booked a last minute really expensive flight from Seattle to NYC to watch the game on Friday. Ugh. Guess I’ll be skipping the game…

  • Rick James

LOL!! sorry that is kinda funny…

  • cshot

    sean save us

  • blueCypher

We will know tomorrow about the time table. This could be just precautionary

  • Dorothy

Can you cancel it within 24 hours? Check it.

  • Win

    Ham!

  • JoeTeam

now he’s just got to do the shimmy shake to give us all joy.

  • Briiick

    Oops

  • LinJa

My hope is that coach K is giving Lin ‘rest’ for the next game seeing the game is in control. Great opportunity for others to step up and they do have home advantage and big lead. #spursway

  • ty

Maybe you being there got Lin the good 1st half and not such a bad injury….. and a win

  • kauaiblue

Im at the game but dont know happened… what happened??

  • Joe what do you know

Well… looking at the bright side, they’ll most likely lose games if Lin is out. That’ll just emphasise the narration of Lin being THE soul of Brooklyn.

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

If non-refundable then just go. I’m sorry that Lin got hurt.

I once took all seven of us over thanksgiving holiday to watch Lin play in houston and he got hurt during the first game. Three minutes into the game. I watched three games and Lin wasn’t there and I was so sad.

  • Win

    Ham!!!!!

  • Alaingrvis

That not good. Season can be done in a hurry

  • zxcvb

Don’t know. Hamstring pulls can just be from normal running/not stretching properly.

But there was a drive where Lin went up for the fastbreak layup and was goaltended (no call), and he came down hard and hit the stanchion. Didn’t hurt his knee or anything, but took an extra second to get back.

Right afterward, he had a nice drive and layup so it didn’t look bad at all.

  • kauaiblue

    What happened to jlin??

  • JoeTeam

    BoBags!!!

  • Alaingrvis

Its crazy though Lin wasnt limping at all. Ive seen Lin play clearly hobbled.

  • JoeTeam

    strained hamstring

  • Joe what do you know

Nah… I don’t think this injury will drag on for that long. Possibly a few games but most likely won’t make a big impact on this season…

  • zxcvb

Every game Lin misses will be a loss. If he misses 5 games and they win even ONE it’ll be a crazy miracle.

  • psalm234

hopefully it’s just a precautionary move

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

    I hope you are right

  • occupatio

im worried. hope lin is back next game

  • psalm234

Kilpatrick’s assist to Harris showed great patience.
He should be that backup PG for now

    92-77

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

That’s my hope..that this is just precaution move.

  • zxcvb

I’m hoping Nets are just super-cautious and he only misses the CHA game. That gives him 6 days off while only missing 1.5 games. It think it’s a good sign that his last play was a drive and finish.

  • Joe what do you know

Bog… just stop trying to be a penetrating guard…. your handle sux big time!

  • Alaingrvis

    Nets out 3 gaurds

  • Alaingrvis

    Injuries decide playoff teams

  • joy

Is he ok? I just started watch the game.

  • Guest

At least we are going to find out who can step up and be the back up point guard

  • rabit1111

Man. Whitehead is so raw. For whomever think he’s better than vasques, think again

  • SeaKing33

    BS flop

  • JoeTeam

    LOL BLo …

  • zxcvb

So mad at the Nets training staff right now. Bunch of morons…young players should not be straining hammies. Foye isn’t even that old. Vazquez injured his ankle too. These are signs of incompetence from medical staffers.

  • psalm234

it will be a patchwork of Whitehead and SKil.
Hope Whitehead continued his growing confidence and gets better soon

They don’t have anyone else with Foye/Vasquez/Lin out 🙁

  • aggressiveplayer

I’m so sad… this is going to hurt our record this year by like 5 games or more if the injury is serious.. 🙁

  • YESYESYES

Would Lin play Friday? I got a ticket to see him face off with Clifford. NONONO

  • Ray Lam

    Such a buzzkill

  • aggressiveplayer

I don’t think he’ll be back next game. I think it’s the same injury as Foye. He was out for 5 games so far and counting.

  • cshot

i was really looking forward to jeremy schooling kemba

  • xeroid

Whitehead needs to learn to not force the issue and do more passing and assist.

  • rabit1111

If it’s a hammy, I hope KA rests him. No need to rush back and re-aggravate it. I rather him back 100%. In the meantime, it will be a good chance to develope whitehead. He will be up against one of the better guards in the league.

  • Joe what do you know

Kemba is incredibly lucky… I’ll give him that…

  • rabit1111

There will be plenty of opportunities

    BOOOKERRRR, TEAM ENFORCER!

  • LimitedEdition

    Banes is retarted

  • Grace

Not blaming him but doesn’t he know the routine by now?

  • Alaingrvis

banes grabbed bookers hand and pulled him down

  • JoeTeam

that’s an armbar … easy to break it.

  • Arsenium12 .
  • zxcvb

With the Nets schedule, Lin should miss only 3 games, tops, unless it’s a bad strain.

Friday (CHA)…3 days of rest…Tuesday (MIN), Wednesday (NYK)…two days of rest…Saturday (PHX).

  • rabit1111

Aren’t u a little bit late. This is old news now.

  • ty

    Lin is on the bench

  • zxcvb

His job is to listen to their experts. They should be monitoring stuff like this (stretching, rest, muscle distribution). It’s not just Lin — it’s Foye and Vasquez too.

That’s 3 injuries in 5 games despite zero “acute” incidents (like falling awkwardly).

  • cshot

thank god….i guess its not too serious

  • zxcvb

That’s a good sign. No tests or immediate treatment being done.

Maybe he just misses the CHA game.

  • aggressiveplayer

    PLEASE be okay Lin PLEASE

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

    Leaving now. Speedy recovery.

  • psalm234

    safe travel back home.

Please Nets, get the win for Lin!!

He will play against the knicks. No doubt

  • SeaKing33

man i am liking sean kilpatrick’s tenacity

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

Here’s Lin on the bench. Wearing blue.

  • Win

Anyone know what grade is the hamstring is?

  • Grace

It can’t be from the missed goaltending call play because he immediately scored on a really fast breakaway layup afterwards. Unless he ran through the pain.

  • Parent of Lots of Kids
  • Parent of Lots of Kids

Yes. Came back in to see him. See my photo.

  • Click Click
  • ty

they showed the play where he made a sudden stop and pass back…. he grabbed his hamstring seconds later

  • SeaKing33

    these refs…

  • Win

    Wow. BS foul.

  • rabit1111

Brook is beasting tonight. Feed the monster for the rest of the game please

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

I see Lin walking around during timeout

  • Alaingrvis

This offense has slowed to a crawl since Lin left

  • SeaKing33

    WTF…Refs are pure trash

  • zxcvb

Huh. That’s not even a “trauma” injury. That’s just conditioning…ugh.

Foye and Lin both have had hammy pulls within the first 5 games. And Vasquez reinjured his ankle. We need a REAL, experienced medical staff not Marks’ baby-faced wonder boys.

  • Grace

    Thanks

  • sws94

Problem is, Kenny kept Brook out too long. He’s lost his touch and feel.

  • Win

Whitehead is really bad on decision making sometime.

  • rabit1111

This is when brook comes in handy

  • Alaingrvis

I dont get him rushing in in that turn over. Waste time kid

  • HVJoy

Oh No. Lin is hurt? How bad is it? I just got home and first thing I learn was his injury. God bless.

  • Click Click

Refs have screwed Nets in most of these first 5 games, especially against Bucks and now, this game.

  • sws94

Thanks. Sorry you only got to see him play for half the game. But, I hope the team can pull out the win.

  • rabit1111

    Yeah. Wtf was that BS

  • zxcvb

Nets have 4pts in 6m this quarter.

  • zxcvb

I’m scared they’ll bring Lin back ASAP and he’ll aggravate that hammy and miss 2 weeks instead of 2 games.

  • Yura

    Why isn’t Jeremy playing?????????????????

  • Vincent Lee

Agree. But be smart about it. He was forcing 2 much

  • Alaingrvis

Do not trade lopez. I remember with charlette how drummon dominated us. He made drummon look small. you cant find that anywhere

  • joy

    I think it’s a good test for Lin’s teammates when he’s out.

  • Alaingrvis
  • CJSHYY

    What did they do?

  • joy

I agree. I like BrookLin. It’s meant to be. 🙂

  • LinJa

    So far so good

  • Howan Cheung

interview with booker. But all his team mates listen to Lin and he is their undisputed leader

  • joy

So touch to hear that. Good job, Booker!

  • Alaingrvis
  • sws94

Maybe a little. But he played well, played with heart.

  • AL

    Second that

  • Ken Chatsworth

Lets pray for a speedy recovery.

  • CJSHYY

    Thanks.

  • Briiick

    A net 37 points.

  • blueCypher

I have feeling he is out at least a week. Sucks….

  • sws94

They’ll probably rest him Friday and play him Tuesday (assuming it’s a minor injury). I’m going to the game Friday. Oh well.

  • sws94

    They showed it on Yes!

  • joy

Good. The Nets showed rebound and defense tonight. Nets 45/Pistons 38

  • dave lam

    Just checked and seen boxscore.
    Why only 16 mins ?

  • Ken Chatsworth

    Injury

  • blueCypher

He got injured end of 1st half

  • spiderman

Kilpatrick came alive. 4-4 from 3!!

  • Alaingrvis

How does today affect Lins stats. PER should go up

  • heart

Lin’s effort didn’t go in vain. Brook stepped up when given minutes. Congrats Nets for tonight’s win! Everyone contributed at key points tonight even RHJ played w/in his strength and didn’t shoot much.

  • Alaingrvis

    ???

  • MEL LIN

    did lin play after halftime?

  • Alaingrvis
  • aggressiveplayer

While I’m happy for the win tonight, I’m really worried about Lin. With Lin out we could easily lose the next 5 or more games.. 🙁 I pray that he won’t be out for more than 3 games..

  • CJSHYY

    No.

  • spiderman

    love Kilpatrick’s humbleness

  • MEL LIN

    any update with him yet?

  • grover chang

Good win. Proud of the Nets. Now 2-3. Praying Lin’s hamstring heals fast and completely. I still think this team is good enough to make the playoffs. Get healthy.

    That’s not post-game. That’s the shootaround interview.

  • Arsenium12 .
  • Alaingrvis

    pre game???

  • blueCypher

We will see the extent of his injury soon enough. I did think that they pulled the plug on him since they were up by around 20 halftime. So maybe precaution and not serious. …

  • joy

    Sorry. My bad.

  • spiderman

Playing to Brook’s strengths will get them there

  • Alaingrvis

Yea it got worst after the adrenaline wore down. He had nothing on it. It may not be that serious.

  • Arsenium12 .
  • CJSHYY

    Anything on Lin?

  • aggressiveplayer

I REALLY hope so. It would lower our chances of winning drastically.

  • spiderman

    lol its ok just delete

  • Alaingrvis
  • blueCypher

Probably tomorrow morning they will give an update

  • joy
  • CJSHYY

I think he will not play on Friday.

  • CJSHYY

    Thanks.

  • blueCypher

As expected. They give proper “evaluation” next day. I think he is out Friday though.

  • Jeremy Lin (and Nets) highlights. Very happy the team held on at the end!

  • joy

    how to do that?

  • spiderman

just move cursor to top right margin of post — there’s a delete option down arrow

  • Maknusia

so no blame on the rookie coach!

  • Not sure if this post actually went through earlier. But here’s highlights of JLin and the team!

  • spiderman

    man that’s fast

  • joy

    Thanks. 🙂

  • grover chang

    ? Blame him for what?🤔

  • blueCypher

Just do not hurry him back. Otherwise, it will come back to bite him again.

  • heart

KA talked about mixing it up in tonight’s game. Wished he let Brook loose from the beginning so he can play his game like tonight! Actually now KA has no choice if he wants to win. Congrats Brook!

  • joy

Thank you. Boy, Lin’s so fast and fearless. Must be the new braids. lol

  • stam

I really hope Lin recovers quickly. Poor Lin.

  • CJSHYY

Today’s game more like Home game 1 vs Pacers… I knew KA will have to do so otherwise he will loss all the games…

  • YESYESYES

Is any video showing how Lin get hurt?

  • psalm234
  • Alaingrvis

Yea they showed it on the broadcast. Lin slipped and passed the ball. At the 3 minute mark of the 2nd quarter. He played 60 more seconds or so

  • Vincent

lol why is brook allowed to put up 34 but lin is shooting too much if he has 20

  • Click Click
  • MEL LIN

don’t like Kenny’s response he was changing the topic while people are asking him about Lin he was talking about whitehead. Not sure if they are that close?

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I saw Lin limping while he was on the bench, so it doesn’t look like a very minor issue or them taking him out for precaution.

  • YESYESYES

    Thanks

  • takeme2cruz

He’s smart not to throw out info too prematurely

  • YESYESYES

    thanks

  • MEL LIN

    were you there?

  • YESYESYES

I think he played 4-5 mins after that play which Harris hit 3pts.

  • psalm234
  • MEL LIN

I don’t know why this always happens to him. Last year was back spasms and ankle injury

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

No..I saw it on TV..They showed him limping…Unfortunately.

  • Maknusia

not towards you…just a generic, couple of games ago, we were bursting with criticism that Kenny doesnt know how to be a HeadCoach and behaving more like development coach and tanking for no apparent reason.

Many fail to understand its a learning process for the Coach and players and the team as a whole. Obviously there will be ups and downs as proven by historical data. Many NBA team do go thru the same trend, at times its mind boggling why a play or rotation is in such an ill manner but we gotta trust the coach and paddle thru the process

  • grover chang

My critic for Atkinson is similar to previous coaches. Do you play Lin and do you play to his strengths. You do that and you win. I felt he could’ve done more. I’ve now lumped Brook in with Lin because he is such a talent. Felt Atkinson wasnt using them enough

But if his NO-tion offense proves me wrong and he makes a strong team not completely reliant on Brook Lin. I will happily be wrong.

  • Maknusia

I see Kenny as a smart coach, he will learn and adapt, unlike McHale, hence we just need to give em some time to get the process and timing corrected

  • james brown

also a humble guy. not shy on giving praise to others. nice player to be with JLIN!

  • james brown

hopefully..Motion offense relies on all 5 players to score given every plays. it is patterned to make anyone of the 5 to be momentarily open for a shot. Relying only with two players (like Lin and Lopez) on your offense using this system will not maximize the potentials of the two and negate maximum potentials to score on all possession. Nixing it up is the right choice and not pushing the motion offense on all possession even when Lin and Lopez are playing

  • james brown

too much of everything is not good also..hope Nets are not extremely too much on “Taking good care” of every player that they go over protective that hampers also the players development.

  • sport

Yes KA was too worried about Lopez getting injured that he got Lin all worked up over winning and got him injured instead!

  • sport

Come on Brook has been benched a lot with even lesser minutes than Lin. Be happy that the franchise, Brook Lopez is finally unleashed. The problem was always Atkinson not allow Brook and Lin to play their game instead of insisting on motion offense and nothing else.

  • sport

No Brook is a star and franchise player, he was just unleashed after KA who finally made adjustments we’ve be discussing in regards to his the sole motion offense which doesn’t work. Step up is what you would use to describe bench players like Kilpatrick who posted 24pts and 10assists or rebounds? Kilpatrick has been making a strong point that he should start over RHJ. Too bad with Lin out RHJ might still get his undeserving start.

  • sport

I believe their over protection Lopez is why Lin overworked and got injured so fast. if Lopez was there every game, they would’ve won more games and Lin wouldn’t have play too intense and injured his hamstring.
