Game 5 Detroit Pistons vs Brooklyn Nets: “A Great Chance to Win”

Detroit Pistons (3-1) will visit Barclay Center to play Brooklyn Nets (1-3).
The Pistons have emphasized defense by keeping their opponents under 84.5 points/game in their last 3 games (Orlando, Milwaukee, NY Knicks) after allowing 109 points against Toronto Raptors in the opener. This is quite in contrast with the Nets struggle with defense in their first 4 games:
While the Pistons have been playing strong defense, the Nets have struggled defensively through most of their first four games. Although Brooklyn held Indiana to 15 points in the fourth quarter Friday, it is allowing 111 points per game, has given up seven 30-point quarters and allowed opponents to shoot 47 percent.
The one thing that favored the Nets in this game is whether Detroit can be fresh to play a back-to-back game after playing the Knicks yesterday. All Detroit starters played between 32 and 36 minutes so it might have some impact with tired legs which makes it extremely difficult to play strong defense that requires a lot of energy. The Nets can also draw their confidence from beating the Pistons convincingly in the preseason opener 101-94 where the Pistons starters played 24-27 min in a game resembling regular season game.
KEY OF THE GAME: Can the Nets come out with energy and strong defense after the 30-pt blowout against the Bulls? Would there be a lot of dose of Brook-Lin PnR to get Brook involved offensively early in the game? And would Foye (doubtful) or Kilpatrick be able to play some solid backup PG in place of the injured Vasquez?Whitehead just did not look ready being a rookie. If the answer is yes, the Nets would be able to capitalize on this opportunity to get the 2nd win in the season.
Let’s hope and pray the Nets will continue their formula of success, play gritty basketball together as a team, and finish the game healthy!
Let’s go, JLin and the Nets!
