G71 LAL @TOR Game Thread

Will Jeremy come to play or rest due reported respiratory issues related to his sinus?

Let’s hope Jeremy will only play if he feels he can contribute to the game. After the publication of the excellent Pablo Torre article on “It’s Not Easy Being Lin”, it would be great to watch Lin play a good game but only if his health allows it

Go Jeremy!

MEMBERS POLL

Guess JLin's stats in Game 72 vs Brooklyn Nets

What Should Be the new NickName to usher in a new era of LINSANITY?
  • Brent Yen

    hehehe

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    2nd to Mod
Lin plays or sits out this game, doesn’t matter
Just gets healthy and ready for the FA this summer

  • linspiredinla

Jeremy Lin will paly tonight per Mark Medina.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

BS has just hit another BS level, I just can’t stop laughing.

    https://twitter.com/MarkG_Medina/status/581578953653166080

  • Sunny Sullenberger

Why does he have to utter all these sort of negative comments about his own players?

Nobody said Clarkson is near Westbrook, come on

  • takemeback2reaganyears

All haters are using Clakson (used to be Price) to down play Jeremy.

We’ve all seen it before just as Beverley, no one saying any good about him anymore.

  • CJSHYY

BS always talked like BS. But this time I have to say he is telling the truth for once. But I think JC can be a good SG one day.

  • JW

Guess somebody up there not done testing Lin yet. Making this more difficult.

    https://twitter.com/MarkG_Medina/status/581580759607197697

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I won’t predict the future but athleticism comparing to Westbrook? Not even close.

  • JW

If you wanna do something(tank) right, you gotta do it yourself.

    https://twitter.com/TWCSportsNet/status/581588393554939905

  • CJSHYY

I means the truth on this statement-Clarkson is “nowhere near” Westbrook.

  • Brent Yen

    sadly

  • Sunny Sullenberger

Byron knows he has to steer the wheel himself. Pressey wasn’t up to his tanking job

  • Rick Johnson

Pressey didn’t do good enough job at tanking. Have the get Byron back or lose the top 5 draft pick.

  • 1mtoldman

thats what my father always said (course he couldn’t do anything right).

  • CJSHYY

Oh! JC has only one thing in common w RW that’s ISO ISO ISO.

  • 1mtoldman

actually according to the best tanking source “tankathon” tonites lakers/toronto game is not very significant in terms of “draft impact”.

the bost/new york ; det/orl games more significant.

my own analysis (limited) would suggest if the key thing is simply to stay in the top (ie bottom) 5 to keep the pick from going to the 6ers this is a game the lakers could afford to win. (should they want to and be able to).

lowrey is out and toronto has been the worst of the playoff (as opposed to lottery) bound teams over last 10 games.

  • 1mtoldman

    captain my captain.

  • FrankW

The two castaways from Kevin McHale, Jeremy Lin vs. Kyle Lowry. “Let’s get
    ready to rumble!”

  • 1mtoldman

lowry not playing lately; stated reason: back spasms. not sked to play tonite.

  • ok, I opened up the poll to non-members temporarily to get more feedback on “a new nickname to usher a new era of Linsanity”
I will track the voting to identify potential troll votes
So far, JLin Prime is leading the votes!

  • CJSHYY

    So Lowry will play tonight?

  • 1mtoldman

hes still listed as out with back spasms last i saw.

  • CJSHYY

I see bc I didn’t see him played lately.

  • hm, how come JLin is playing with back spasm AND sinus/wrist issues? 🙂 #ToughLIN

  • 1mtoldman

i think lowry sitting out due to embarssment of how badly he has been playing since asg (and toronto–worst playoff team record last 10 games) but offically back. could be.

people didn’t think the minnys guys sitting out were legitmate but as far as i can see they were half the twolves out still.

lowry maybe less credible but again i have no reason to doubt the official story; back spasms, perhaps they are primarily resting him for playoffs and their playoff spot is relatively secure and can’t change much; i dont follow them enuf to know about that.

  • 1mtoldman

10 hours ago he was offcially “ruled out” for tonites game unless something has changed since then.

  • linspiredinla

I understand JLin’s reasons for playing inspite of sinus issues.

  • bolero

    i say wow with BK.

    Brandon Knight

  • bolero

@PabloTorre one of my best 8 days ever was spending time w/Knicks coaching staff during the height of Linsanity. Jeremy is a great kid.— Doug Eberhardt (@ebehoops) March 27, 2015

  • linspiredinla
  • hm, interesting if Lowry takes his time to rest to ensure he’s got his game back when he returns
I don’t follow TOR either unless they have some Linterest in our guy

  • wow .. BK has had some rough plays

  • LAJane

Just read Pablo Torre’s article on Lin and I have to say it brought me to tears. Jeremy has shown absolutely extraordinary composure and you can see why not so many people rise to his level…because the cost is very very high. You have to dig down to the very foundations of your personality and be willing to tear it up and re-shape it and hold on to the encouragements you can find for dear life. COURAGE and absolute persistence. The teary part for me is the separation even from his most loved ones because he can’t carry both their pain and his own at the same time. Lonely in the midst of a crowd. So I am most motivated now to let go of the negativity as much as I can and contribute in my thoughts and words appreciation and encouragement. I don’t see him or speak to him directly, but energy accumulates and I hope we can support him with nothing but the best.

  • John Lee

Guys…can someone point me to the new duck feed? Much appreciated.

  • 1mtoldman

duck hasn’t worked for me since he had to switch servers; it just lags and crashes flash. he had up a testing mobile for awhile which worked for me but it was crashing for him all the time.

anyway; it doesn’t work for me any more (sad) but here it is:

    justduck.it

  • joyce ward

So none of the Laker reporters have not mentioned the article, typical..LOL

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    In any Chinatown. Jk.

  • FrankW

That didn’t stop Lin from playing. Must be pretty bad back spasms.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    That would expose them.

  • CJSHYY

    This is not NY. LOL!

  • joyce ward

That is why I can’t stand this chicken organization

  • Rene#17

    3333333 for lin!

  • John Lee

So is this why the duck feed doesn’t work anymore? They’ve moved the Lakers games to justchicken.it? LOL

  • sport

Ouch I hope Lin didn’t hit his head with that landing 🙁

  • Rene#17

Slow in getting up. Makes 2FT.

  • sport

Lin’s dishing out to perimeter is becoming predictable, 1st TO, should’ve just taken the shot at the rim.

  • stam

    Damn 1 assist blown…

  • 1mtoldman

well i dont know about that; i mean i can still get a duck feed on justduck.it/quack or if there’s 2 its on justduck.it/kwak i mean i was trying to watch o justduck.it/quack now and it was playing but getting the flash i.e shockwave crash.

actually its not just on the duck im just having adobe/chromebook compatibility problems; haven’t figured them out yet.

(oh i hadnt seen joyce post above you were making a joke).

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Stool continues his stinky

  • sport

Black with 5 rebounds already, working hard. Lakers really need to trade lazy Hill and keep Black and Davis! Then again nothing matters if Lin doesn’t stay and BS is still coaching.

  • sport

Yea Raptors were like a dime for Lin during recap and with the awkward pause. Even they knew Black blew Lin’s assist!

  • 1mtoldman

only reason lakers are ahead is black offensive rebounds. giving lakers more shots.

  • sport

Glad Lin’s playing aggressive right at the start. I think Clarkson’s selfish and aggressiveness pushes Lin to go for his more as well which is good.

  • Rene#17

    Lin for 333333!

  • stam

    DAMN BRO that was sick!!!

  • sport

    Oh fire!

  • stam

I hope lin isn’t hurt, they are really physical in this game.

  • 1mtoldman

lins hitting 43% on 3’s for the month.

  • stam

Tons of wide open misses wow….

  • sport

Wow great played called by Lin,sneaked in for the wide open layup didn’t see that coming!!

  • 1mtoldman

    10 points in 8 minutes

  • Rene#17

Johnson finds Lin alone under the basket.

  • sport

Lin laying VERY well, this is his best game yet!!

  • CJSHYY

    Ya! Really happy for him.

  • stam

we’ll see what the coach does to stop him.

  • 1mtoldman

    ellington continues his torrid shooting

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Byron: Lin take a rest

  • stam

This is very strange, clarkson was taken out at 6 mins. That is the Lin treatment, i’m surprised it happened to someone else.

  • sport

So long as Lin gets his 20/30+ points by end 3rd quarter, he can sit and rest for entire 4th for this tanking team.

  • CJSHYY

JC maybe will close not Lin. So I am glad Lin got his points now.

  • stam

Yeah i think so, i hope he gets at least 30 mins.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Lin will not close tonite

  • Rick Johnson
  • CJSHYY

He will near by that min but maybe will not close the game. They want to make sure loss the game today.

  • sport

JC probably playing entire 4th for the tank. So Lin can do his thing and score as much as he wants 1st and 3rd quarter!

  • John Lee

    I see a big “OFFLINE”.

  • stam

The lakers actually playing defense as of late.

  • joyce ward

They always do when lin is on the court.

  • stam

I hope they let lin play a bit with ed davis.

  • stam

Ed davis coming off the bench comment is hilarious he should be a starter.

  • sport

    Wow airball by Lin =P

  • stam

    Nice 1st assist.

  • sport

LOL wow Lakers out hussling the Raptors and their bigs getting all the rebounds including Sacre! WOW!

  • stam

    phantom foul?

  • Grace Nsns

    and 3 FTA?

  • Briiick

    Where is Lowry ?

  • sport

Home refs saving their team from embarrassment!

  • stam

WTH that guy wasn’t even shooting.

  • Grace Nsns

homecourt and they’re losing, refs put in work.

  • 1mtoldman

    back been out several games

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Nothing new with this refs

  • stam

This should be reviewed as unfair and illegal officiating.

  • Briiick

    Injured ?

  • stam

    Sacre putting in work lol.

  • 1mtoldman

    yes back spasms.

  • sport

LOL you know the opposing team is bad when even Sacre is getting his put back points and rebounds!

  • stam

When they start running PNR with Lin and Ed, you know they want to win.

  • stam

Sacre is learning from hill and boozer.

  • 1mtoldman

raptors have been the worst playoff bound team last 10 games; lowry has been out since i think the 20th; tried to play once and had to quit.

but he was not playing well anyway since asg.

  • Briiick

Actually Lin has figured out Lowry long ago. It was Vasquez who he had some trouble scoring against, not any more !

  • sport

Clarkson to start 2nd quarter and Lin out. Lets him the staggering minutes will be equal like last game for first 3rd quarters! Except for the 4th quarter tanking of course.

  • stam

Uh what offensive foul? the refs are really against the lakers.

  • sport

Home refs rigging the game for their embarrassing team, Lakers just need to keep lighting them up!

  • stam

yeah, LOL look at how selfish clarkson is, he took that rebound from his teammate.

  • John Lee

BS must’ve paid them off after Pressey failed the mission last game.

  • stam

    LOL

  • stam

Its better for him in the long run – playing 40 mins+ like ellington is not good for you.

  • sport

Did you see how he took the first 2 shots of the game? Didn’t even consider passing at all! Selfish game right out the gate. Then again that selfish and aggressiveness must’ve rubbed off of Lin can after Clarkson’s 4 points, Lin starting shooting ALOT 🙂

  • stam

yeah i was glad Lin turned the dial up.

  • sport

Can’t LOSE to the rookie! Lin’s really competitive even though he’s a class act!

  • stam

damn clarkson has Davis and Black in at the same time.

  • This must the convo on #Lakers bench:
Lin: “Time to check in, Coach?”
BS: “Not yet, we’re still leading!”

  • CJSHYY

No need to worry. JC can’t connect w Davis. He needs to take care himself first…LOL!

  • stam

    LOL!

  • sport

Wow was that Sacre’s first dunk of the season? O.o Lakers playing really hard!

  • CJSHYY

What happened to this Raptors team? Why plays so bad?

  • stam

    Sacre is antitank today.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Clarkson is chucking: 2-6

  • CJSHYY

He will have his chance in 4Q or maybe got the warning by coach due to win the last game… don’t shoot…LOL!

  • sport

JC can’t pass to anyone! Just care about getting HIS all day. He’s really a SG pretending to be a PG like most point guards nowadays!

  • the guards play are not very good so far

  • Grace Nsns

    He’s a rookie, it’s alright.

  • Rookie75094

I have to admit Ryan Kelly sucks… even though I like him

  • Brent Yen

Lin will be gone, it’s alright.

  • joyce ward

What rookie on another team except for the Lakers would get to chuck like that. So no it’s not alraedy

  • Brent Yen

    Lol….

  • stam

He always chucks, but at least he’s a consistent chucker.

  • joyce ward

No Brent., if he is not put in his place now,Kobe will.LOL

  • stam

why does everyone like him? I heard he is tight with Lin.

  • sport

Ryan Kelly needs to learn how to get to the rim for dunks and layups on a daily basis like last game, take advantage of his height!

  • Rene#17

    Yeah Lin back in.

  • Grace Nsns

ok, rebound and the 2nd assist.

  • sport

Didn’t like that pass to Sacre, not a good shot, Lin should’ve taken the shot himself!

  • Promo Sports World

Whatever Vasquez got from the Rapts I can see jeremy getting a similar deal

  • stam

I hate this guy clarkson lol.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    No need to hate him.
He is a rookie trying his best to be a NBA player

  • CaliUSMC

Lin needed to pull up that 3 instead of passing to sacre.

  • stam

Lin was fouled on that man and they don’t call it for him. this is terrible.

  • sport

Gotta stop passing to Sacre those are not great looks at all, just take the shot! ><"

  • stam

That is another offensive foul with the elbow.

  • 1mtoldman

becuz hes nice and smart. im sure hes nice and smart but hes a terrible basketball player.

  • sport

Lin not scoring in 2nd quarter but got some rebounds! 10 pts, 5 rebounds 3 assists! Can he get a triple double this game?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Bs did murder lin-davis’s PnR.

  • LAJane

Totally understand the emotions…but after reading that Torre article I am taking a vow 🙂 never again say what “Lin should do”. He works harder than we can imagine, knows more than we do, is totally aware. Even in his “worst” performances I’m going to try to fire positive ions only. GO LIN!

  • Rene#17

Lin to Davis the dynamic duo.

  • joyce ward

    I am with you Jane:)

  • sport

So many boos from Raptor fans for their team, sad.

  • Brent Yen

    Oh yeah!

  • stam

    Agreed. 😀

  • John Lee

And that’s with the help from the refs.

  • Can’t keep #LinDavis down!

  • LAJane

Thanks Joyce. Your informed opinion and total fandom means a lot.

  • Brent Yen

Raptors are really ugly to watch today….

  • I thought the boo-ed but it turned out they screamed for “Louuuuu!” LOL

  • John Lee

Oh Jane, don’t flatter yourself. You don’t even come close to the top Debbie Downers here. LOL

  • Rookie75094

I am just thankful for the opportunity to watch Jlin play.

  • Brent Yen

I do know one thing lin should not do……he should not listen to us

  • Hm, I thought that was a steal by Lin before the bounce-pass assist to Davis.

But it was a defensive rebound? TOR player threw it back falling out-of-bound and Lin got it.
    Should be a steal right?

  • joyce ward

🙂 When I read that article today, I was upset and mad. My girl Jasmine said that she had better not see scott in her neighborhood because it will a beat down for him.LOL

  • Brent Yen

Depends, can be seem as a raptor did not secure a rebound. Did not fall to the ground so credit to lin…

  • LAJane

That’s ’cause you don’t hear what I holler at the screen 😀 Though I have to admit my negativity isn’t towards him but the boneheads around him. I’m gonna try to give it all up. Serenity Now 🙂

  • John Lee

I never even met Jasmine and I like her already!

  • joyce ward

    lOL

  • 1mtoldman

u think lin gets held down by the lakers what about poor ed; he gets less minutes and opporutnites than lin; he’s been their best player since the asg and he gets the least minutes.

tonite 6 points 6 rebounds in 9 minutes. and hes on sked for not even 20 mintues tonite smh.

  • 1mtoldman

16 minutes 50% shooting 10 point 5 rebounds! 3 assists 1 steal; best +/- on the floor for either team.

  • Briiick

Ed shines when he gets to play with Lin.

  • 1mtoldman

worst playoff team since asg. no lowry (and was not playing well before withdrew with back issues).

  • 1mtoldman

he’s been out since the 20th with back issues. he tried to go one game and had to leave again and said he would not hurry back after that.

actually i think the raptors playoffs spot is fairly stable; probably just wants to be available later.

but raptors have been a sub 500 team without him last 10 games.

  • 1mtoldman

half time quiz (without looking at the boxscore if available)

which player on the court (including all players for both teams) has
    a. played the most minutes
    and
    b. taken the most shots?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Lol

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He even tuned out from his parents

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Clarkson

  • Rene#17

Antwain and Horey said at half time that Clarkson needs to pass and get teammates involved. Which JLin is doing.

  • Rene#17

Another assist by Lin to Clarkson.

  • stam

Lin was fouled again. They haven’t called anything for Lin this is such BS

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Now refs are his enemy too?

  • stam

They are only imposing their will because the refs are rigging it.

  • John Lee

Well yeah, rookie “PG” got ZERO asts and 12 FGAs in 24 minutes. Pretty obvious.

  • Rene#17

    Come on Lin. Clarkson sitting.

  • 1mtoldman

thats always been clarkson’s game; but thats not whats gonna lose this game its jv having his way with the dleague bigs allowed to play in this game (as has been the case in all games lately) chase budinger and jv look like all stars playing against thse guys while davis/hill/boozer sit on the bench.

sacre/black/kelly/ these are not nba quality players.

  • 1mtoldman

17 minutes left in the game and the only laker big to play well; ed davis has played less than 9 minutes.

meanwhile jv is tearing it up.

  • John Lee

Neither is Wes, and Ellington is borderline. No real NBA player will willingly join Kobe-infested Lakers if there’s any real choice.

  • 1mtoldman

i would reverse it and say wes is bordlerline and neither is ellington but. either answer could be considered correct.

  • stam

Lin is aggressive but his shots not falling, also his teamates are no where to be found when they trap him so he can’t get a good dish

  • Grace Nsns

    3/10 now, ice-cold

  • John Lee

Only real NBA caliber players are Lin, Davis and Boozer. Jabari Brown has potential to be good backup PG, Clarkson has potential to be poor man’s J.R.

  • Looks like the triple double hopes are dashed with a quiet 3rd. With Lin on a minutes limit for tanking, it’s not looking good. I’m still hopefully that somehow, some day Lin will get 35+ minutes and get the triple double he deserves.

  • sws94

Seems to be fading away on the shots for some reason. Too much arc.

  • 1mtoldman

3 of 6 the first half 0 for 4 the second so far.

  • Grace Nsns

    sinus infection?

  • joyce ward

Is he driving to the basket?

  • John Lee

Now Lin and Clarkson are both 12 pts on 12 shots. Difference is Clarkson is on a good night and Lin a sinus-infected off night.

  • sport

Lin started off hot but sat for too long 2nd quarter, has bee cold since. Need to make some layups and mid jumpers.

  • Brent Yen

Too bad both threes did not go in…

  • sws94

Lin is running the offense. He’s having a rough shooting night, it happens. Clarkson is a scorer and sometimes volume shooter. Good to see Lin taking the shots.

  • cshot

he will be fine. its not that bad lol. just not taking quality shots. a little bit rushed thats all

  • Grace Nsns

might be all for today, 12/4/5, not too bad.

  • John Lee

It’s actually awesome for someone who can’t quite breathe right.

  • CJSHYY

I think Lin probably will not on in 4Q or maybe w his poor shooting night after 1Q… BS will let him on in late 4Q?!

  • Grace Nsns

1 foul, time to be yanked.

  • stam

It’s great for a guy who gets hammered and no calls in this game.

  • Briiick

Lin still got team high +2 when the coach took an arm and a leg from him.

  • 1mtoldman

poor shooting 3rd quarter only actually 0 for 6 after 3 for 6 in the first half.

  • sport

    Finally! mid jumper!!

  • Grace Nsns

    finally a jump shot made.

  • Rene#17

Screen by Davis then step back by Lin for 2.

  • 1mtoldman

of the 6 misses in the 3rd quarter 3 were 3’s. 3 midrange.

  • Rene#17

    Lin to Davis for assist.

  • sport

LED is back! Lin to Davis, 5th assists!!

  • Really lazy pass on that pick n roll to Ed Davis. Lin needs to respect his opponents, they’re not stupid and will study his tendencies.

  • John Lee

Time for Lin-Davis to take “The Truth” from Pierce!

  • Grace Nsns

    another TO, 🙁

  • Rene#17

    JLin with a block!

  • sport

    Not counted?

  • stam

i thinkt hey are calling it a miss. They need to review that and send it in.

  • 1mtoldman

    not counted.

  • stam

first they wrote block by ed davis, then they called it a miss to take away Lin’s stats.

  • sport

That should’ve been a block, need to complain!

  • John Lee

What is the official NBA channel to request review?

  • Lin out. That’s all folks, nice hanging out again. 🙂

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    so much for Lin tonight

  • TTNN

so that don’t count as a block?

  • 1mtoldman

it counted as a block when it was credited to ed davis. but then it didn’t count as block if lin had done it.

  • stam

it should. we need to see it on video and send it into the NBA.

  • 1mtoldman

the the the the thats all folks!!!

  • Brent Yen

Ellington made every successful team motion into ISO play…..

  • John Lee

Don’t get me wrong, I’m far from complaining. 🙂

  • joyce ward

    What quarters is this?

  • stam

    4th Q. Lin’s done for tonight.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

Just one question for Clarkson: As a PG, where are your assists ?

  • John Lee

Tarik Black just surpassed Shaq in FT lousiness.

  • stam

These raptors fans are so spoiled damn.

  • CJSHYY

    4Q

  • Brent Yen

I do not know what was clarkson and Ellington looking at. No one was moving…

  • Briiick

If we can point out lots of recording errors against Lin, hopefully somebody gets punished for making them.

  • joyce ward

    What is lIn’s stat line?

  • FrankW
  • Sunny Sullenberger

    32 minutes,
    4-13, 14 pts, 5 assists

  • stam
  • Grace Nsns

    14/5/6, +/- = -3, not bad

  • stam

    FG 4/13 3pt 2/5

  • John Lee

Lakers have not scored in FIVE minutes! Missing 6 FGAs and 2 FTAs.

  • Grace Nsns

we’re tanking, so far so good.

  • cshot

    Lin coming in!

  • Briiick

Lin still got the best +/- in his team.

  • stam

WTH are they reinserting LIn?Why… its’ garbage time

  • John Lee

Make that 7 FGAs. Sometimes I really can’t tell whether it’s tanking or sucking.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL I’m still pretty close to my guess stat on JLin 15/5 and JLin is 14/5. Pretty good guess again:-)

  • John Lee

17 pts down, tank’s been secured.

  • Grace Nsns

Lin’s back, you might get it, lol

  • stam

    hurts his +/- ;(

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Exactly

  • Grace Nsns

    exactly

  • TTNN

    not necessary

  • stam

If they only let him run point lol.

  • Briiick

Guess the F/O really wants Lin back next season.

  • Brent Yen

    U jinxed Lin!!, it would be 30p 20a ……

  • TTNN

They should play Ellington less, and play JBrown more. I start to not like Ellington anymore, he has been pretty selfish recently.

  • John Lee

I suspect Kobe’s recovery has really gone south.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

OH NO. Lin is back. So, I might not get it right. Hope he will score more:-)

  • Dan Cohen

    pad staties

  • Dan Cohen

shyt and I was gonna turn it off.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    LOL! I stay in conservative!

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Plus BS tank player Johnson do well tonight. Lin can’t win so ….

  • stam

Hansborough did try to hold him from falling so at least he tried.

  • Grace Nsns

    16pt! Yay!

  • Rene#17

A step back by Lin for 2.

  • stam

Dman that would have been a really good play if black caught that.

  • Grace Nsns

    one more TO, damn!

  • Brent Yen

Lol…..no one is in sync with lin

  • Grace Nsns

    Clarkson’s been cold too.

  • joyce ward

The perfect tank job tonight. I don’t really care just as lin got his points.

  • stam

It was clarkson running after the ball? damn that guy is so selfish!!!!!

  • David Kim

Clakson little selfish? whenever he does fast break, he never passes.

  • Brent Yen

    Lololol

  • Rene#17

    Layup for 18 points

  • Grace Nsns

    He needs the points.

  • sport

Lin with the last minute rebound and layup to the rim 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal!

  • joyce ward

    Yes!!!

  • Brent Yen

Lolso lol Lin padding 2p Ir for the final possesion

  • JLin Fan from Australia

At least he and Kelly are +1:-)

  • Dan Cohen

wow.. lakers players can’t even score if the hole is big and wide open tonight.

  • Grace Nsns

    stats padding! lol

  • John Lee

Yeah, noticed that Lin started doing that recently. Might as well since he always get shortchanged and no one is doing him any favors.

  • I’ll take 18pts/7rebs/5asts/1stl in possibly a season-high 35 min!

  • Briiick

I need to thank BS today, LOL.

  • Dan Cohen

    LOL

  • CJSHYY

Ya! He finally got it. So happy!!! I don’t care Lakers win or not.

  • I’m totally OK with 4pts in the last 3-4 min 😀

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Take it in everyday.

  • stam

Nice, Lin scored 4 points and one rebound in 3 mins. 1 TO but if black caught that it would have been a really good shot. Ed davis might have been able to get that in.

  • TTNN

    that’s pretty impressive drive though

  • joyce ward

I will take it. Lin learning the name of the game…LOL

  • John Lee

Tanker fans and Lin fans rejoice together! Lin got his stats and Lakers got their L.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

JLin just doesn’t give up no matter what!

  • sws94

    Almost 36 minutes for Lin.

  • stam

So stat padding feels pretty good when it’s for your player lol.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

If you have to complain, then, if he could have reduced his 4 TOs to 2 TOs

On the other hand, Clarkson played 33 min. with 0 assists! I know he is a rookie, but it is clear that he is not a PG material.

  • sport

Lin leads the scoring and assists today! Glad he kept shooting, he started off hot with 10 points, sat too long 2nd quarter, got cold but still got his 8 points in 4th quarter.

  • stam

The best part is Jordan clarkson 0 Assists.

  • TTNN

it took half a season’s tank for him to learn to take care of himself, that’s good.

  • stam

yeap, and he was the PG for only 1/2 the time.

  • joyce ward

So anybody think Scott got a call from F/O to play lin more minutes because of that article that dropped today.

  • John Lee

It’s called JUSTICE when one gets regularly hammered and gets no calls.

  • FrankW

    Cool, thanks.

  • CJSHYY

Johnson is really BS good helper… the more he played the more tanked job would make…. LOL!

  • stam

true, but some of that is on his team mates who couldn’t catch.

  • Briiick

There is a fundamental difference between stat padding and correct playing, just checking the average +/- for a dozen games.

  • CJSHYY

Part of that also to make it up for him not playing last game since early 4Q.

  • Acbc

Was LIN sick or something? He looked a bit off.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

and the tank was secured when Lin came in on the last 3 min. mark

  • Brent Yen

    I think he looks fine….

  • sport

Technically, it took him 3 seasons of being marginalized for him to get it. Lin still needs to learn to be more selfish and get HIS over passing to teammates cause they won’t care whether he plays well or not and the only one who will thank him is Ed Davis. I hope see how selfish rookie Clarkson plays will bring Lin back to the reality!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Can be:-) Very damaging to Lakers’ reputation. Good on Pablo to always bring the facts out!

  • John Lee

He always looks “fine”, but he’s sick today. (sinus)

  • CJSHYY

No need to worry. Johnson was in & Lin would pass the ball to Johnson or anyone else not like JC just cared about his own stats.

  • Briiick

I think the F/O tells BS to put the importance of Lin second only to tanking.

  • joyce ward

I am starting to believe that scott has no authority over lin. I would even go as far as to say that Scott is afraid to mess with lin…LOL

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    His sinustisis hasn’t improved.

  • TTNN

    he is under weather

  • Dan Cohen

BS or someone might’ve read that espn article..so that’s why he got 35 mins! hHAhahaah

  • Dan Cohen

    what exactly do you mean.

  • TTNN

I thought he is not happy with Ellington, plus it is petty safe for the tank today.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

BS’ reputation is now in the toilet because of how he has treated JLin. His root for KB went too far!

  • John Lee

This implies that Kobe is losing his stronghold, which means Kobe may not be able to play next season…like not even survive preseason…if at all.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I think he knew FO wants to keep Lin even he & Kobe tried so many things to stop it… fail so far.

  • Dan Cohen

    mitch should be happy then.

  • Brent Yen

    Of course..

  • Keith

    You mean Westbrook ?

  • TTNN

Today Lin is the only Laker guard that has assist

  • Dan Cohen

    no he’s not; you’re sick.

  • CJSHYY

Maybe but I agree w you on Kobe is less important now… Buss family wants to keep Lin.

  • joyce ward

The lakers organizational is not a confrontational organization. I think lins’ agent the Tandem sports pulled the big guns out on F/O.

  • John Lee

I blame IJ and blubell as being bad influence. LOL

  • sport

Jim Buss will be happy to hear that, a small chance he can keep his job building around Lin!

  • Dan Cohen

    hahaha..
actually I was kidding.. I know he was sick.. was just trying to see yo response and reaction for the heck of it.

  • CJSHYY

Johnson, Black, Scare, & Davis also had AS. Oh! They are not guards.. LOL!

  • John Lee

I got my buttons well-hidden. Cheers.

  • Dan Cohen

big guns? as in threatening.. who do they have that they can leverage. I know roger montegomery doesn’t have ‘power’ at least I don’t think.. Tandem might..but what is their leverage.

  • stam

    Yep so glad he did!

  • John Lee

    They’re not guards.

  • joyce ward

Listen , Scott is that bully on the playground that everybody is afraid of , because his bark is worst than his bite, When he is challeneged, he tries to put up a good fight, but in the end we find out that he is just a wimp.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • sport

Johnson, Sacre, Kelly, and Hill are his trusty tankers! How did Johnson get drafted in 1st round is beyond me.

  • 1mtoldman

i thought it was great lin has a poor shootin 3rd q and i figure hes out for the nite but when hes out the lakers get suffienctly far behind he gets to come back in; and picks his stats up even including shooting %; numbers should keep moving up!.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • 1mtoldman

    win win

  • stam

    No foul right?

  • Dan Ang

Take it easy on Clarkson folks, he’s just balling, and has no ill will towards Jeremy. First AZN backcourt, remember?

  • stam

    LOL thats funny.

  • nice job trying to bait blubell & IJ to share their “love-sick”-ness LOL

  • Acbc

He looked like he was tired on offence. Still had the same intensity on defence that I could see. Just wondering if the offence was schemed for the kids to take the shots. They looked really bad with way too many bad shots being taken way too early.

The game was lost in the forth when LIN was finally taken out and the kids took on bad shot after another and they were stuck on 72 pts for over 5 minutes. That Lakers team without LIN would easily lose to Kentucky in a blowout.

  • TTNN

on a 11 pt lost game, that’s pretty impressive

  • stam

i read the comment before the poster and I thought it was a female that posted that. 😀

  • 1mtoldman

just goes to show; lins sick not shooting well has some turnovers goes o for 6 at one ponit in the third quater but :

if YOU GIVE HIM 36 MINutes. he still comes up with all star level stats.

  • @disqus_W4kOOens57:disqus admitted he got successfully brain-washed by IJ and blubell 🙂

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • 1mtoldman

    0 assists.

  • Linja

Thought there was a block (or steal). ??

  • sport

This is exactly why Lin should average between 33-35 minutes per game as a legit starter not 28/29 minutes not even 30 minutes is enough!

  • wandertheglobe

Wishful thinking, no chance of MDA coming back. Lakers are not going to fire one of their own one year into the contract for Lin’s benefit. Lin’s best chance to reunite with MDA if he gets the Denver gig. ESPN’s Pablo Torre article sounded like Lin is gone. Only plus for Lin is CA and his brother. Though, I wouldn’t mind seeing Lin signs a one year contract to be S Curry’s back up at GS. They desperately need someone like Lin off the bench.

  • joyce ward

Tandem sports broke away from a huge law firm to set up their management.,but Tandem is making a name for itself in the NBA. They are the ones that got lin that Tag Huere watch deal

  • 1mtoldman

    probably a turnover!

  • stam

This needs to be reviewed, should have been a block.

  • sport

Lin’s looking to be a starter no way will he sign with GSW after they treated him so badly his rookie year!! He regretted so much in his diary signing with them! Don’t forget well known hater Steve Kerr is their coach, Lin’s not going there! Steve Kerr always dissed Lin even during Linsanity!

  • stam

Yes absolutely, because he was fouled and the refs were rigging the game. His FG% must have suffered by 2 FG by my guess because they were very physical today.

  • 1mtoldman

ellington is misfiring cannon tank weapon too.

  • 1mtoldman

they waited till the tank was secured; i already turned it off i was totally surprised they brought lin back in. but didn’t matter then as you say tank secure.

  • wandertheglobe

GS is A different team now. They run MDA offense, which fits Lin perfectly. One year contract to show what get got and sign a bigger deal when the new CB kicks in a year later.

  • wow, @Lakers really featured Lin .. the plot is thickening into a bowl of Linteresting soup now!

    https://twitter.com/Lakers/status/581634512037117952

  • 1mtoldman

yeah think what it would be like if you didn’t have to show “per 36 stats” for lin; if his actual stats were “per 36”. sigh.

  • FrankW

    Season high in minutes:
    Nov 14 38min, 4r, 4a, 1s, 3to, 15p
    Nov 23 36min, 3r, 5a, 2s, 3to, 17p
    March 27 36min, 7r, 5a, 1s, 4to, 18p

  • Linja

Whatever, I give Lin and of course AllHim credit !!

  • 1mtoldman

they first credited as a block to ed davis. but then switched it to a miss.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Yeah what the heck happened? Is it Thanksgiving again?

  • sport

That was a block for Lin, they better review and credit him! Racist score keepers always cheat Lin’s stats!

  • Acbc

That is so indicative of how selfish this team is. JC literally blocked LIN out to get the loose ball with zero interest in creating good fast break spacing.

  • joyce ward

Lakers know that scott has put them in situation form a business standpoint. No matter what they they tell him to do, he wants to put his own skew on things until Pablo Torres article came out and totally exposed them. They were not expecting this punch and they were not prepared, so scott probably a call from FO to play lin the most minutes and make him look good.

  • CJSHYY

Did Lin get the block? From this tweet said he did but how come no record?

    https://twitter.com/LakersNation/status/581628564241555457

  • sport

Nah Lakers were down 17 points, it was safe to put Lin back in to close the game.

  • Brent Yen

    Credited to Ed..

  • CJSHYY

Why? Ed was not eve near by?

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

That’s true, no risk of winning the game. But still, BS being generous to Lin with minutes makes me nervous 🙂

  • sport

No they took it away and labeled it as “miss”! Need to email them! It was a block by Lin for sure!

  • I’m ok with Clarkson, he’s just a rookie trying to learn the ropes and do his best on court. I think he really respects Lin as a mentor

  • Brent Yen

The realization of Asian discount I guess..

  • Raptors shot too well (48%) and Lakers shot too poorly (36%) causing Lin not to get the rebounds and assists needed for a triple double. He’s getting closer and the 35 minutes was nice. That ice cold 3rd quarter didn’t help though.

  • joyce ward

Look lin fans all you heve to do if you feel lin was not credited blocks or steals, just tweet them or email them. Lately they have changed alot of Jlin’s stats.

  • Acbc

That sure looked like a block. LIN made a great play to time that block IMO.

  • joyce ward

Did you get the memo., Lakers are in tank mode. I am glad that lin raised his stats,

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Need Video & tell more fans to send the email.

  • Brent Yen

Pf course..it just the video is not aviliable yet…I wanna see it again..

  • TTNN

question, so if based on verticallity law, Lin jumps up, and did not touch the ball, so it does not count as block? only consider as miss?

I was not sure whether he touch the ball or not though

  • CJSHYY

That’s just what FO want… As long as Lin had good stats that’s fine w me. LOL!

  • Brent Yen

    Hard to tell

  • bolero

Law firm. It reminds me of the TV series Suits. They even mentioned JLin in Season 2 Episode 1. lol. The main actor was talking to someone on a phone and mentioned “JEREMY LIN”. lol

  • Acbc

I was shaking my head watching the tankers play without LIN in the forth. They were like chickens with their heads cut off. They couldn’t score a point for 5 minutes. Just one bad shot after another. Smh.

  • linspiredinla

    It was Asian night.

  • TTNN

do you remember what time it was? 3Q?

  • Acbc

Man that’s lawyer talk. Derozen had clear path almost to the rim and LIN absolutely chased him down and put himself Between Derozen and the hoop with his hands waving. If Derozen missed, it was because of LIN.

  • joyce ward

Look, this team is nothing but a tank machine, so expecting anything out of them is fruitless. Lin knows the score and I think he has decided to take control over what he has control over and that is to pad hi his stats. Lin is going through the motion and perfecting his game.

  • TTNN

of course, that’s a great defensive play, but it might consider only altered shot, not necessary on stats board

  • FrankW

    2014

  • linspiredinla

  • CJSHYY

Did anyone see Lin w LF or Pat talk after the game?

  • linspiredinla

finished game due to Asian night in Toronto.

  • Dan Cohen

see that’s why big time agents help.. despite that I appreciate his loyalty to roger.. he has not leverage and lin has to watch out for himself. I think he might’ve see that already early on and thus hired tandem to collaborate with roger.

  • linspiredinla

thought Raptors will dribble out ball, but then someone scored, so JLin said to himself: why not me too”. good for him, I say.

  • Rzo Vlade

    rondo sucks

  • Sophie Paris

Cool so Lin keeps having good stats despite off shooting. ^^

  • Sophie Paris

    He does and Spurs win.

  • Dan Cohen

he is either old or lost his touch.. I was too patient with him. oh well.

  • sport

Um that’s random O.o Rondo is irrelevant nowadays. Used to like him during Celtics Championship days cause his handles and passes were amazing. It’s Steph Curry’s time to shine and it’s about time a PG of his physique and style gets a nod. I hope he wins MVP over West”brick” and Hogden those chuckers don’t deserve MVP!

  • FrankW

Not 100%, needed pain killers. Back to back games coming, have a good rest Lin.

  • John Lee

    Mavs 19-6, 76% W before Rondo; 26-21, 55% after Rondo.

Yeah, Rondo max player alright. /S

  • linspiredinla
  • sport

Spurs and Pop probably thinking, glad Mavs got Rondo, one less competitor for Two Peat chase!

  • FrankW

But they (Lakers, Rockers, etc.) still think he is much better than Lin and willing to paid top dollars to acquire him. Good luck with that.

  • John Lee

Stupid is as stupid does. Orgs hire imbeciles as superstars ALL THE TIME.

Microsoft hired Stephen Elop after the guy ran Nokia into the ground. (or was he an MS mole?!)

  • FrankW

Coach Scott lost weight and grew some hair over the last couple of days?

  • TTNN

got to be Asian Heritage night again. Every year when Lin goes to Toronto, they do that.

  • TTNN

Still could not tell whether he touched the ball or not, but obviously he changed the shot. And BTW, this play was McDonald’s defensive play of the night by Lakers tonight, just heard it on the radio….

  • John Lee

Go Blazers and kill Bledsoe’s Suns!

Also, if going into playoffs today, Spurs will guarantee another first round exit for the Houston Beards.

  • joyce ward

These reporters love lin because he breaks it down to them.,

  • joyce ward

I am happy that lin played a decent game with the obstacle that Scott tried to throw his way, I love lin and his stats

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Brent Yen

    yep…I have no complaints! lol

  • bebopcola77

8:36 4th Q. Right now it’s recorded as a Williams missed layup. Hopefully someone has a clear pic/vid, because it looked like a block the way the ball left Lou’s hand and hit the bottom of the backboard.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I know how it felt like to have sinustinus. It was really awful. Couldn’t breathe even through mouth. Everything blocked. Almost died from being so congested one time:-(

  • Rick Johnson

Summary: moved ball, teammates got open shots, they just weren’t sinking them.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep it’s so much better listen to JLin and gain lots more insights than most coaches.

  • joyce ward

I think lin is punking out scott. I think lin and his management team have confronted the lakers F/O with scott ‘s bias against lin, and I think the FO has told scott that he is hands off when it comes to lin,,just my thoughts

  • bolero

yup. he did that to RW too.

  • Rick Johnson

I’d rather he do the Lakers 360 instead of Coach Miller. I’d like to see him diagrams the replays so we could see more easily what he’s talking about.

  • joyce ward

So have the Taiwan/China fans weighed in on the article about LIn.

  • 1mtoldman

here is lin’s last 4 games (yes small sample size but still…just for fun )

    21/5.5./4 pts, assists, rebounds,

    50% from the field 50% from 3! 92% on ft’s

(even i didn’t realize it was that good. in fact i kept rechecking it before posting it.)

i guess this is lin prime.

  • Filler-up

    Looks like Raptors coach Casey.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Bryon Scott gave the highest minutes to Lin when he was sick.

  • Filler-up

C’mon. They probably made a mistake, doesn’t call for the R word. Let’s not use it indiscriminately. Thanks.

  • Grace Nsns

What happened to his hair? style back to Harvard days, lol

  • Filler-up

Refs let both teams play all night so no complaints.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Haven’t had the chance to read Chinese forum yet. Waking up to see the Pablo article. Haven’t caught up the latest news before the game began. Actually I missed the first few minutes of the game. Didn’t know it started so early here:-( They were 2 hours behind me. So probably they only caught up during the game. So, translation maybe done soon if not done yet.

  • Filler-up

    GS has not cap space.

  • stam

Yep, i think he’s fully accepted his situation. I’m sure that he gets more sleep at night now. I think we will all agree though that he did not once play selfishly to stat pad, it’s just so happens that his shot was going in and he worked hard to get to the right place at the right time.

  • Brent Yen

SO now we know Lin needs to be sickier to play more…?! LOL

  • Sophie Paris

    What a qt here ;D

  • 1mtoldman

i beleive the troll here momin something was the first to notice this awhile back.

  • stam

Yep i thought it was a block.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

You are right. For Lakers was on the right hand of the bench.

  • Brent Yen

The article is long, I assume those news agencies need some time..

  • Filler-up

He does not look to get his teammates going. Talk about no PG skills. But BS will never call him out because the rookie may not be able to take it. Yet Lin is tough enough to get called out by BS in the media.

  • Sophie Paris

Or back to linsanity days ;p I like it better than when he cuts too short xD

  • Filler-up

Still some miscomm between Lin and his bigs.

  • stam

yep, they credited ed davis and when they saw it Lin they said oh ok he must have missed it because Lin is a deceiving good defender.

  • 1mtoldman

there you go again (as takemebacktoreaganyears mite say) with those initials:

oh wait…i just got it, they’re not initials. r.e.

  • Filler-up

I personally like a small tight hole to score into.

  • stam

From my POV, it seemed like the Refs were rigging the game for the raptors.

  • Filler-up

“your player” – why are you exactly here by the way?

  • sport

    So true!

  • Sophie Paris

Haha you start to get good at this 😉

  • stam

he’s not soft like Charmin, he’s tough as iron.

  • Filler-up

Ever since Lin started looking more for his own shot, which he should by the way since his FG% is higher than the other guys on the court, Wellington has been looking for his as well. I really hate it when Wes and Wellington catch the ball behind the 3pt line take a sideways dribble and throw up a 22′ 2 pointer when should have just taken the 23′ 3ptr instead. Such inefficient shooting.

  • John Lee

Yeah, be it block, steal or TO, at least they are very consistent at making this kind of mistakes on Jeremy.

Jeremy’s improved further on this phantom fouls, now he also does phantom blocks and ghostly TOs when he’s NOWHERE near the ball (later corrected to be Jabari’s TO).

  • stam

yeah which be argued that BS wants to see JL with poor stats or possibly injured… from a pessimistic point of view. Just saying.

  • Filler-up

He played Lin more minutes because he actually defended and was a net positive on court. The other choices (JC and Wayne were not).

  • stam

he should pretend to be sick every once in a while lol

  • stam

His FT has improved significantly i’m very proud of him!

  • sport

While Lin’s still balling this season, both “head of the snake” Price and “Wolverine” Scrub Bev are both out for the season! And that includes many other PGs and star players! Lin’s tough. he got injuries his first two years with Knicks and Rockets cause it was really like his “rookie” years. Now he’s really tough and stopped using floaters to avoid injuries.

  • sport

Yup! Lin defended until the very last minute, never give up on plays even when game’s lost or over!

  • CJSHYY

I think this is what Lin’s fans should to for Lin didn’t get the foul…

  • John Lee

Exactly, I hope he misses playoffs every year. For all of my dislike for Dragic, he’s a better PG than Bledsoe.

  • Filler-up

Yeah, at least his boss has got his back. I think Monta is misunderstood because he has said some stupid things in the past like no difference between him and DWade. I think Monta needs some shine and Cuban is giving it to him to grease him into resigning with the Mavs.

  • Sophie Paris

    Very yummy :]

  • sport

So true, Cuban’s a great boss. It’s great to know the owner is running things and knows “most of the time” what he’s doing instead of GM who plays politics.

  • Filler-up

    You likey apple π?

  • Filler-up

Trying hard to be diplomatic. C’mon give it unfiltered Jeremy for a change. He’ll never do it, he is too measured and too smart in his responses. He sees the media traps a mile away.

  • sport

Don’t like Monta cause he doesn’t like Lin, their rivalry runs back to GSW days! If Monta Ellis who’s even more of a ball hog and chucker than Hogden is staying, we can cross Dallas off the list for Lin’s FA.

  • Sophie Paris

If it’s not touched it’s probably not a block.. but yes a great D.

  • John Lee

Compare Monta the eternal chucker and S Curry the prime PG, it’s quite clear who’s the one who truly helps the team. GSW was wise to dump Monta, if a bit late. Curry would’ve broken out sooner wasn’t it for Monta getting in the way.

  • sport

And that’s with Curry being the starter for several years now to reach this level while Lin’s development has be halted for 3 years on and off starter/bench role =/ I truly hope for Lin’s contract he won’t have to deal with this crap and just focus on being the starter and finally show people the star he truly is!

  • knibb

This is how I addressed my daughter… before she grew to the point where I had to look UP to her.

  • linspiredinla

I actually like it better this way! No need to be aerodynamic since tanking!

  • Jeremy Lin the GOAT

Also, some people on jeremylin. net and lakersnation were being racist towards blacks today, I hope we can all put the racism aside and watch Lin the greatest player to ever ball

Somebody should twit this to Cuban:
Monta has 495 twitter followers: https://twitter.com/thingswecarry
    JLin has 1.42M followers: https://twitter.com/jlin7

  • Jeremy Lin the GOAT

Lin still did his thing out there tonight, brought me back to Linsanity.

  • John Lee

Mavs, Spurs, Nuggest (if MDA), Magic, Kings. 5M to 8M, though I’d be ecstatic to be wrong if teams offered more.

  • Jeremy Lin the GOAT

I hope Scott isn’t racist like Woodson and Mchale

  • Dan Cohen

uh oh.. r u planning to troll on this board.

  • Jeremy Lin the GOAT

No I’m a huge Lin fan, I’m just counting down the days until Lin leaves the Lakers to play for a team where he gets the trust from his coach

  • Dan Cohen

because you kept calling racism for everything against lin.

  • John Lee

LaMarcus BEASTING it, 4 FGs in a row and Blazers up by 6 with 1:24 left in 4th.

  • Filler-up

Monta was a starter in GSW. More fair to say Lin and Acie Law were the rivals for scrub playing time.

  • Jeremy Lin the GOAT

I was just calling Scott and Mchale racist. Someone on jeremylin. net said a majority of the league was racist. I just hope Lin can play somewhere he’s appreciated and can ball out

  • Filler-up

When he drives and gets hit and swings his head back, the hair movement will get him more calls … not!

  • Jeremy Lin the GOAT

Lin the man no doubt, I think Scott just afraid Lin is better than he was. Lin got a bright future in this league.

  • knibb

You will then miss the days when you can still play hide-n-seek together and listen to them laughing and squealing… luckily I’ve recorded some of these events… with a camcorder that runs TAPES!

  • Filler-up

Certainly, but they have Lowry, Williams and Vasquez already.

This would have been perfect. Hollinger’s Analysis says Lakers would lose 3 more games which would get them to 2nd worse and Mavericks would win 6 more games which would get them to 2nd or third seed in the Western Conference:

  • Brent Yen

    Worth listening?

  • CJSHYY

Mav? Haha! I don’t think so… Lakers wants to loss & I am sure they will continue to do so as long as BS tank player on court to help him. LOL!

LOL, no dedicated Lin highlights? Lin fans are starting to slack off! j/k

  • JLin Fan from Australia

One of the guys admitted that he was very critical/”nasty” to JLin. Pointed out a couple more points of the article as well as racism that JLin dealt with but didn’t come out full to agree it or not. Also brought out KB on that fouling on game. It was rival but didn’t say that actually JLin didn’t hear KB but listened to BS. That’s why I am not sure how take on this talk. Maybe someone who knows how to listen can understand better of the points they tried to make. They talked about 13 min on the article.

  • CJSHYY

Well, to LA Kobe is the king but now Lin is boss favor so… you know they will not say good or bad to both but I think everyone all know what’s going on.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Read in Chinese forum that a fan went to Raptor game saw JLin and Coach Casey talked to each other. JLin also hugged him at the end of the game. Any take on this???

  • CJSHYY

Lin did that every time when he visited Raptors. They have Lowry already so no chance…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep sound about right. They tried to be very neutral about what JLin has dealt with. The guy who admitted he has been very “nasty” to JLin never really admitted that what he has done was wrong nor admitted that it was KB and BS issues. Guess he couldn’t say it outloud.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Just wonder the relationship between JLin and Casey. No idea about the history between the two.

  • Rick Johnson

I didn’t like it. Mason mostly said he felt bad about being overly critical about Lin but seemed more so out of pity than admitting he was a good basketball player. Didn’t mention anything about his resurgence since ASG and basically the best player on the team now. I kind of doubt he’s even watched any Lakers games since the ASG. He didn’t mention the parts about how BS archaic schemes and Kobe ball hogging killing his game, brought up Kobe having to intentionally foul but not mentioning that it was Scott that told him not to foul. It is going to take a break out by JLin to silence these ignorant commentators.

  • tin3ytina

tell him don’t cut it yet!

  • sport

I’ll give a summary a fan not sure Laker or Timberwolves was angry and screamed “Liar all are liars” and threw his popcorn which spill over the fans who were sitting the row below him. That fan was taken away from security guards but the fans who got popcorn spilled on weren’t mad, probably because that man spoke what was on their minds.

    Post game:

Why Lin was benched during overtime even though he played well.

Substitute coach: Lin played well with 19 points but 4th quarter other teammates played well too, when that happens one shouldn’t break the balance and let the competition continue (all know team was playing like crap).

Reporter: Is this why he didn’t subsitute Ed Davis in?
    Coach: Yes

Other Reporter: But 4th quarter you turned winning into losing (something like that.)
Coach: We had a chance, we just made a mistake during defense.

With .3 seconds left after Clarkson made his 1st Ft, did you consider letting him miss the 2nd FT to purposely run down the clock?
Coach: No, absolutely not, we need to win with dignity and respect (LOL this is way too funny.)

We can’t control what happens at management level but this is very unfair to the players not just JLin, but also Davis, Boozer, and Hill. If you want to develop young players then you should trade away veteran/older players like other team has done (T-Wolves traded Corey Brewer).
Or can have players pretend to be sick and not play but to only allow your great players to play half a game, both halt and affect career/business. In addition, post game, mincing and putting on an act, etc is not what a rich/powerful franchise should be.

Tanking can possibly win a rising star but can also lose the team (players), spirit and willpower, into a mess. For example TWolves has been tanking for 7-8 year already, had some potential rising stars but right now it’s still the same situation. If Lakers continue to tank like this, they’ll probably have to say goodbye indefinitely to the revive of their dynasty.

  • NZLinFan

I think FO wants to re-sign Lin as a back up only. Hope Lin will go to another team and shine from there.

  • NZLinFan

    More people love Jeremy now.

  • sport

I doubt it, if that was the case they wouldn’t need to start Lin these last few games, what for? Unless they’re trying to trick Lin into think he’s going to start and then benching him. During his FA, Lin needs to be smart and not get trick by these GMs and bad franchises like Rockets again. Also need to specify in the contract that he must start, no trade clause, and the minimum minutes he should receive every game (34-35).

  • blubell
  • Lam

Maybe the FO is being magnanimous, helping Lin find a good job next year? They could have dnp Lin like boozer without much consequences. In fact it would help their race to the bottom.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

GSW is the top team in the league; I’m afraid they’re not going to change their lineup much.
Jeremy is a game changer and he needs to go to a team that needs to change.

Just came back from the game, thought should hand in my report like last year I did.

Lin only visit Toronto once a year and my husband and I always treasure this chance to watch his game. After this ridiculous Lakers’s treatment, we almost giving that up. We afraid might end up having DNP/CD.

Anyway, back to tonight’s game. No need to repeat the game stats, I would just share with friends here couple observation.

    1. Player introduce, Lin was the only one in Lakers got Boo and the only one got cheering. I thought both meant great! : ) This year we sat a section surround by die heart Rapter fans, so we heard more Boo mixed with clearing from far distance sections.

    2. I thought it was during 2Q while Lin waiting to come in to game, Rapter’s coach approached Lin to chat. Which was really nice.

    3. After game end, again, Rapter’s coach hug Scott as game custom. But he also gave Lin a hug. That was even more sweet!!!

    4. Lin was very relaxing th whole game. Not sure that might cause the 3Q performance.

That was all!! The high light to me was Raptors coach approaching. So Lin to Raptor? ( We The North!) Lol!!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The amazing thing is they have started tanking the moment that Kobe got his season ending injury.
Byron just dumped the whole season for Kobe’s sake. He didn’t want to see the Laker winning games when Kobe wasn’t there running the show. We could predict that Father time has already caught up with Kobe. The repetition of this season next year will sure be fun to watch; just hope that Lin will be playing somewhere except for the Lakers.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

NBA won’t be able to step out of the US if they keep this kind of attitude.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

No way should Lin go to GS. Lin should stay away from these teams. Lin went back to Houston and the situation was horrible with him being replaced by Patrick Beverley. Lin should just move on. There are 26 more teams in the league that he could play for. There’s no point to go back to NY Knicks, Houston Rockets, LA Lakers and GSW.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

He’s sick and has problem in his sinus.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Told that was Asian night in Toronto.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Well players play and coaches coach. Hating on JC is unreasonable. JC is still a rookie and is limited in his games and knowledge about their game. He is a SG more than a PG. That is his natural position. The coach puts him in a position to pass more but his natural position is still a SG.

  • joyce ward

If you really look at what Lakerland is doing is that Clarkson is not their future PG. If Kobe comes back next season, Clarkson will be on the bench. Kobe is not going to let a rookie overshadow him. Clarkson is not PG material. He doesn’t see the floor well and if the the teams were really worried about his play, they would double team him and they are not. I am not on board with this Clarkson is a rookie and trying to make his way into the NBA. I don’t like it a Lin’s expense. I think Lin has just decided to give Scott the FU because he knows Scott is a bully, and most bullies won’t fight back when you challenge them. Lin has exposed the Laker for the deceitful organization that it is and I think that article by Pablo caused a major hit for the Lakers in their business dealings. No business organization wants to deal with an organization that promotes racial discrimination…just some thoughts

  • joyce ward

I really like this guy, because he breaks it down on why lin is being treated like he is.If you follow his twitter feed, he gives you some thought provoking answers on how players in the league see Lin.

  • K. P. Chan

I am also inclined to think that may be true, Joyce. But maybe there is another reason for Lin’s new-found freedom. Perhaps “tough guy” Scott now respects Lin’s”toughness”, now that Lin has repeatedly pushed back and rebuffed Scott: on “inconsistency; P & R; ability to close out games”, etc. Lin did all these on three consecutive days! Lol!

Lin has shown to the world how clueless Scott is, but perhaps perversely Scott likes that. It would also have confirmed Scott’s vindictiveness had he punished Lin for standing his ground. Lol!

    Hi ^^

  • 1mtoldman

    almost cut my hair
    happened just the other day
    it was getting kinda long
could say it was in my way

  • 1mtoldman

agree entirely with part a of arguement above.
    dont speculate about part b.

  • 1mtoldman

    worth repeating:

here is lin’s last 4 games (yes small sample size but still…just for fun )

    21/5.5./4 pts, assists, rebounds,

    50% from the field 50% from 3! 92% on ft’s

(even i didn’t realize it was that good. in fact i kept rechecking it before posting it.)

i guess this is jlin prime.

  • 1mtoldman

ed davis has actually been treated much worse than lin in terms of his performance and reward of given non existent minutes.

since the asg he’s been the lakers best player statistically overall but is getting even less minutes than he was during the year prevoiiusly. (and he wasnt even getting 25 minutes then!)

the better he plays the less they play him.

obvious tank deployment + trying to keep him as a stealth weapon to lowball re-sign next year.

yeah lakers, good luck with that. haha.

  • 1mtoldman

i doubt he has any authority to do anything other than what dictated by hc bs (if yer referring to coach while bs out).

if yer referring to toronto coach; fans are always complainaing about his substitution patterns; but he had sense enuf to adjust which lakers never do and to pound jv to

the d league bigs lakers are trotting out these days: black, kelly, johnson, sacre.

  • 1mtoldman

lowry may be goin rondo with his back. (or durant) whichever example you prefer.

or rose, if you want to stick to pg’s.

  • 1mtoldman

but keep counting down the days for the rest of us.

  • 1mtoldman

yeah i clocked out once lin went to bench, i didn’t except lakers to fail so quickly to secure tank to allow lin back in to catch up on his stats after the 1 for 7 3rd q.

but they did and he did. great. good stuff.

    https://twitter.com/robinlundberg/status/581566273001168896

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

    My JLin story Part 2:

Continuing from where I left off in Part 1.

When Lin had played about 2 games or so after his Knicks v. Nets debut, I was eating at a restaurant and happened to strike up a conversation with the waitress who had a middle school son. I ended up giving this long, detailed speech about JLin and the challenges he had faced and the inspiration her son could draw from him. I must say I got a little bit excited and the entire restaurant ended up having to listen to my speech. This was before the Linsanity craziness happened and everyone got on the bandwagon. Many at the restaurant did not know what I was talking about.

So JLin ends up leaving NYC to go to Houston to the shock and devastation and SMH moments of many NY fans like myself. My spouse has been a Rockets fan since his childhood days so we were excited at the prospect of JLin playing for the Rockets. The city of Houston seemed big enough for JLin and yet also small enough for him to really make an impact. Plus, there’s something so sweet about the team that waived you coming back to you crawling and crying out “mea culpa.”

We buy NBA League pass and since the Rockets were not so hot at that time, we were able to watch pretty much all the games except for the few that were nationally broadcasted. I’ve got five little kids and they all end up becoming Rockets game watchers with me and we stayed up many nights watching some really fun and exciting basketball. I was such an avid fan that one of my little ones once asked me, “Who do you love more- basketball or your kids?” LOL. I replied, “I’ll talk to you during the half time.”

So during JLin’s second year with the Rockets, we decide to ditch Thanksgiving in NY and do a Rickets/JLin tour. We pack up all the little ones, go through security, fly into a smaller city near Houston, caught an NBA game in that city then drove to Houston and stayed at a hotel right next to the Toyota Center. We (OK, I) was so excited to watch JLIn in action, live, playing at home! I could see the Toyota Center right out of my hotel window! We were scheduled to watch two or three home games at Houston and then the Rickets v. Spurs at San Antonio.

The first game I think was against the Nets perhaps. It was so great to be in the arena where JLin was playing. At this point, I’ve probably watched about 100 NBA Leaguepass Game so I was superexcited to watch the game live. Went there extra early, and then . . . saw JLin come out and practice . . . and it was soooooo fun and great . . . the game starts . . . and my family is anticipating great moments from JLin . . . BUT THEN . . . JLin gets hurt!!!! I think it was like a couple of minutes into the game. I was SOOOOOO disappointed. I kept watching for JLin to return to the game but it was finally announced that he was hurt and would not return. And then he never returned for any of the games we had gone so far to watch. I think he was at the other games in a suit. So close and yet to far. (BTW, the Rickets v. Spurs game at Spurs was a very good game, and the Spurs fans are about 10 times louder than the Rockets fans, and I was afraid to root for the Rockets. The Spurs arena is sooo pumped up and loud.)

I have to go now but in Part 3, I’ll share with my my 2 close encounters with JLin, and how I ALMOST met him.

This is so great to be able to share these stories with fellow JLin fans. His story is inspiring and interesting, and definitely worth following. Talk to you all later!

  • Marie Simon

I hope when Jlin is done w/ NBA, he could get a gig as commentator & I will still be gaga over him.

  • grover chang

Wow, I could feel your pain in not watching Lin. I’m hoping the story has a happy ending for you. Then again the story is still going on

  • 1mtoldman

“Love enjoys Westbrook. they have a relationship. there’s a conspiracy theory that exists out there that Kevin Love will go to the Lakers this summer, or next summer, and then Westbrook will join him when he’s a free agent, and they will reunite in LA, like they played for UCLA. The guy, the star player he has the best relationship in the league with is Westbrook.”

    –brian windhorst espn cleveland

  • Marie Simon

Well, Kobe whisphering on his other ear brought out the selfishness in him, on the other hand, Jlin hopefully could help this kid play selfless & considerate.

  • grover chang

I didn’t catch the game but on the highlights lin looked good. They were down only 6 with more then 10 minutes left. How did the lakers get behind so much. Did lin sit in the middle of the fourth or the lakers that bad.

  • CJSHYY

Don’t think Love will go to LA bc Kobe said NO in public. Love also said No in return. Love said he likes big market & probably will go to NYK. Or maybe OKC too since he is so openly said RW should be a MVP not LBJ.

  • grover chang

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, then it’s a duck. What is there to speculate about Lin and racism. The one minority that looks different then everyone else in the whole organization, but performs better then everyone else and has done everything he was instructed to do and is nice to everyone is marginalized. Sounds like racism in the workplace to me.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

We can’t prove it; at least not now. It’s all in the heart of Byron Scott and Kobe and more. Maybe one on those days, they will disclose it to us. But the persecution of Lin is real. The unfairness is real. Of course, if you put racism behind things that they do, it fits in perfectly and explains all their move. However the best explanation, the best theory might not be the real one. Time can tell.

Karma for everybody who treated Jeremy unfairly; that is my wish. May it be true.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

For the time being, you have my vote. Welcome aboard.

  • Marie Simon

I want a scruffy, ruggedy- looking Jlin for a change, lol!! Rock it hard Jeremy!!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Byron is consistently biased.

  • BobbyH

Some kep points from his obersations in the game:

    1. He sat 10 rows behind the Lakers bench. His section was filled with Rators die hard fans. But he could hear some cheers and mixed boos (Lin was the only Lakers got mixed welcome)
    2. Lin’s pregame practice was very focused, no smile, but seemed had somegthing on his mind with less spirit (tanking??)
    3. During the game, the fan felt that Lin was very in control. It seemed that Lin didn’t play to his max stregnth and just tried to help developed JC and Kelly. Most of the time, he would just passed the ball to JC and moved to the corner. The fan felt that Lin could easily get 20/8 if given the chance, but BS was there monitoring.
    4. After an arguable foul on a 3 point play (the foul that cut Lakers lead from 10 to 7, IMO, the ref rigs this ine starting this foul), Lin talked to the refs complaing how that could be a foul and later explained to the defense coach.
    5. On the court, Lin was considerate to the teammates and giving them balls, making opportunites for them. On the benck, Lin would give adivses to Brown from time to time. The fan felt that Lin gave up too much (PT and on court/off court advices) to develop young players.
    6. JC was hardnosed iso all the time and but he is too raw. BS probably told him to score first, dribble next, pass last. Lin tried hard to feed Kelly.
    7. The block in 3Q really impressive, from the section he sat, he could see how quick and althelete Lin is.
    8. Young and Hill are the most happy players on the team. The rest seems having low spirit (tanking effect?)
    9. BS like a Scarecrow, standing there doing nothing.
    10. Sacre, really big. Fan said “Please Sacre, it is really hard to put the ball in from Lin’s pass?” One play, JC dribbled right, then left, but couldn’t do anything. Then asked Sacre to help. Sacre just stood there ignored him like a big mountain or corner stone. JC had no choice but pass.
    11. Ed was really good, like a fierce dragon.
    12. The fan was hesitant to buy the ticket as he felt for Lin’s treatment in Lakers. But he bought it anyway to watch Lin. He felt Lin was limited to this tanking team that could not show what Lin really got. He believe Lin will shine next season in somewhere else if given the chance.

  • KL

He sat for the most of the 4th quarter. Came back only in garbage time.

  • Dan Cohen

maybe you should write an autobiography.

A great read on why racism is alive and well.
    http://read.hipporeads.com/debunking-the-model-asian-myth-five-ways-asian-americans-still-face-discrimination/

Here is exerpt relating to sport an Lin. The others are very revealing:

    4. In Sports

If the sporting world is the ultimate meritocracy, why did Mirai Nagasu—who took the bronze in the US Figure Skating Championships—lose her place on the Olympic team to Ashley Wagner, who placed fifth? According to Jeff Yang, it’s a matter of marketing—that the US Figure Skating Association chose the girl who most embodied “the idea of the ‘golden girl’— a term first applied to one of Olympic skating’s early superstars, Sonja Henie, and which has survived since then through the years as an appellation for a particular type of skater: Blonde, ivory-skinned, willowy, slender.” Yang also points out that snubbing Nagasu in favor of silver medalist Polina Edmunds (another “golden girl”) doesn’t make sense in light of the USFSA’s own criteria.

What about Jeremy Lin and his uphill road to the NBA and Linsanity? As Gene Demby notes on NPR, Lin’s height was consistent with the typical point guard, his family were huge basketball fans and supporters, and his outstanding performance in high school basketball led to frequent coverage of Lin in the local media. Despite that impressive resume, Demby emphasizes that “not one of the 351 colleges with a Division I basketball program offered [Lin] a scholarship to play ball for them.” Lin himself has even acknowledged that being Asian American worked against him in the world of high school and college drafts for basketball.

  • orLinaryjoe

Never heard about Mirai, until I just Google her. Incredible, she was born in CA., but snubbed for a “golden girl” born in Germany. Sorry to say my American sons will be forever known as “Asian American” at most.

I watched live but I still taped it and wait before start watching the tape than live. Why? because I want to fast forward those annoying parts. If it was not Jeremy playing I won’t even bother to watch. Not a great basketball game at all to me. Sorry to the Lakers and Raptors fans you may feel otherwise.

I just wish Jeremy gets more rest or perhaps miss a game or two. He looks not quite recover from whatever he got. Good luck. Rest Lin Rest!

  • Brent Yen

It was so obvious in TOR game that JC just wants to score at all cost. lol

  • TTNN

to play together with Kobe, you don’t need to be a ball handler, so if Clarkson could play well beside Lin when Lin is dominate the ball, he will play well with Kobe. If he do more of those cutting, running thing.

However, his contract is not that great, so I don’t think Lakers will really develop him. He has only two year contract, So if the team really developed him, he will go out and demand more money, and I’m not sure whether Lakers willing to do that. Thus the best thing to do is hype up his price, and trade him for the assets.

  • Chipdip

True!!! In my industry, visible minority were rare before. Anyone think it is easy would have no idea! I am glad that it is better today but still low number-wise. However, the “assumption” of one’s capability and whose skin colour is less than before. Not colour blind totally yet but you can really see improving quite well. Think about the first black athletes who broke into different professional sports in the US. Ain’t easy at all!

Wow- really good article. That line about how the Asian male has to earn $247k more than a white male before being considered datable by a white girl is an eye opener.. Yet I’m not surprised. It’s the same for Jeremy. He has to be perfect every sec, every game. One TO by Lin translates to 10 TO by any other player. One air ball gets replayed by every TV station over and over. The bar that is set for Jeremy just to be considered an NBA player is so ridiculously high that I don’t think any HOF could ever reach it. Remember, he’s accomplishing everything WITHOUT the support of his coach, the FO and his teammates.. Even the sports media has tried their best to show him in a negative light. No HOF has ever faced that kind of adversity and performed with all star or near all star numbers…EVER.

  • Acbc

It doesn’t surprise me whatsoever that Figure skating would have this type of political scandel. This why the sport has lost so many fans because it’s been sullied with cheating by bad judges and political intrigue for so long that no one has any faith in the sport.

Individual sports like golf and tennis is what Asian parents should put their kids into, especially golf. No one can deny you access to competition or practice in thise sports.

  • orLinaryjoe

As worker bee, before running into the bamboo ceiling. Same for the women.

  • pero_square

Yep. I love to listen to his podcasts. He doesn’t talk about Lin as frequently as he did when Lin was still a Rocket but he always has something good to say about Lin. I also enjoy listening to him tear into Dolan whenever he rants about the Knicks lol.

  • TTNN

the difference is that Coaches praises Ed Davis but blame Lin openly. That difference is huge.

  • joyce ward

I doubt it. Clarkson has shoot first mentality. I don’t think kobe want to play PG again, that is what took him out. I think Kobe wants somebody like Rondo, who will just pass the ball to him, so that he can shoot. He wants Rondo also so he can take credit for getting a so called superstar here. Rest assured all this talk about developing Clarkson is just an anybody but lin. I would not doubt if Clarkson/Young/Hill will be packaged up for a trade.

  • joyce ward

I find it interesting that the timing of this article release right after the Linsanity DVD was given to fans.I think Lin’s team coordinated this perfectly. Lin has become a fan favorite at Laker games. Also now that tickets are cheap, fans who were curious about lin can watch him play.

  • orLinaryjoe

While not surprising, it was surprising with the data cited by article, just as Lin and his stats.

  • Rick Johnson

Will be interesting how blatantly they will tank in front of the home crowd against the 76ers.

  • joyce ward
  • joyce ward

    LOL

  • Brent Yen

Only team where he gets to start sometimes…

  • joyce ward

They will try to make it look good in front of the home crowd. Scott probably will have them run drills before the game so that they will have tired legs. I also think Lakers might have gotten a warning from Silver about the obvious tank debacle in Minnesota. I might be wrong, but I don’t think Scott will be back next year. I think they might even offer to buy out Kobe jmo

  • joyce ward

Yeah..LOL I love that Lin is giving Scott the finger these days. Scott gave the Lakers reporter that lin was feeling under the weather and that he might not play. Lin came back with I am playing. He said that his sinuses had gotten better or worst,so i am gonna play…LOL

  • pero_square

Thanks. A lot of wisdom and truth here. Will take some time to read through all the tweets and replies.

  • 1mtoldman

only team where he gets to be in the league. in some laker fan circles sacre is considered sort of a cult figure and bench cheerleader.

  • joyce ward

    LOL..true dat…LOL

  • Brent Yen

Kobe also needs a guard who can make shots, so can pad Kobe’s assist stats.

  • 1mtoldman

does it really matter that much whether they are 4 or 5? my understanding was that they just need to be bottom five to hold their pick; there is little chance of them falling out of that and the statistical probability difference between 4 and 5 in terms of % chance higher pick is relatively insignificant to possible outcome.

  • webattorney

Sacre showed me nothing this season to think he’s a 3rd stringer at best in NBA. Don’t understand how KHuang can say all other Lakers players, even including Ed Davis, are D-Leaguers. IMO Ed Davis made Lin look good as much as Lin made Ed Davis look good. Sometimes he says things that are just NOT true to make his point that Lin makes other players look good.

  • pero_square

Thanks for typing this up for us. I can read Chinese just fine but I know it’s not easy to translate all these text. Not to mention time consuming.

  • 1mtoldman

lin played the whole first quarter was on. in third quarter was off on shooting 1 of 7; missed 6 strait. but that was irrelevant to minutes. in fourth his minutes were up i didn’t expect him to play again; he goes out.

then the tank becomes secure without lin as team falls suffiecntly behind that surprise they put lin back in for the last few minutes and he gets opporutnity to up his numbers and redeem weak shooting 3rd q. actually improved his overall “performance” numbers for the year to date.
everybody gets what they want. let lin play. then take him out; let team get sufficently behind lead is safe (to be fair lin not the only or in this game probably primary factory as d league bigs lakers trotting out these days leaving davis/hill/boozer on the bench and playing johnson/kelly/sacre/black fodder for jv and even chase budinger) –let lin back in to “stat pad”.

last 4 games lins numbers btw are awesome; i have posted multiple times previous.

  • joyce ward

I got off that Kuang train a long time ago. He flips back too much for me. Can’t follow his thought processes at times. I agree Scare doesn’t belong in the league, but Sacre is 7 feet,so team are always looking for big men. It will be interesting to see what F/O will do for next season. Laker fans are not going to take another season of tanking.

  • webattorney

Now, when you talk about a soft player, Sacre is that kind of player for me. KHuang does have good knowledge but he just says anything for shock value just to make his points, so I tend to ignore all his posts now days.

  • Brent Yen

    LOL

  • 1mtoldman

the premise would be that kobe would be gone by time love/wb bff’s would be there together. (one example love could stay one more year in clev and then come out together with the masked marvel)–

btw you know that love is the ultimate so cal boy right? born in santa monica, son of former pro player and more importantly beachboy extra stan and nephew of beachboy front man the continually litigious mike love.

played with westbrook at ucla.; picked the brains of wooden and walton..tho in oregon his high school team was the lakers!

  • webattorney

I know you know what I mean. I don’t know why he has to put down some good players to make his point that Lin makes other players look good. Ed Davis is a solid NBA player; it’s just that he’s not a versatile offensive player, so someone has to pass him the ball at the right spot. A bit one dimensional but definitely not a D Leaguer. Ed also knows how to play with Lin.

If I were a Lakers FO, two players I would keep without thinking are Lin and Ed. Others, I have to think about it.

  • Brent Yen

He is definitely not a D-Leaguer. Just very guard dependent

  • 1mtoldman

in terms of playing time vis a via results proven for the lakers this season davis has been and remains more abused than lin.

i assume this is just a matter of the shady lakers organization wanting to low ball him to stay; ie. hiding his worth to other teams, hoping he will opt to stay with them on the cheap and

of course also facilitating the tank.

of course you can argue that lin is responsible for his “sucess” but not really because lin and davis are hardly ever on the court together.

anotehr part of equal shady organizational strategies.

  • webattorney

If Ed Davis is a D Leaguer, 40% of NBA players are D Leaguers. He does what he does very well. Ed also has some potential if a coach can develop his offensive game to be more versatile. Ed is the kind of player who can get to the next level if he improves certain area. For example, if he can hit short to mid jumpers, he would really be valuable. Got a cat like quickness on rim protection and makes no trouble attitude wise. I even like his little scowl.

  • joyce ward

Davis said that lin is responsible for his success in an interview.

  • joyce ward

    Exactly..LOL

  • Brent Yen

Might be too late for his offensive game tho. But any improvement is welcome…lol

  • webattorney

Short jumpers might help. Also, he’s too dependent on his left hand. I love his attitude.

  • Brent Yen

I think he needs to work on his passing and footwork. Go to a team that needs Bigs to pass. Then any added offensive game will be just icing on the cake. The reason I said this is because he seems to have good bball IQ. He has better chance to stand out by utilizing it.

  • CJSHYY

Lakers is tanking so really not that much can talk about it. Robin always showed his support for Lin.

  • joyce ward

He might need to workout with Akeem OLijiwon.

  • Brent Yen

Worthy is enough I think LOL

  • joyce ward

Why not go for the best, if you can.

  • Brent Yen

Because nothing Olajuwon did can be replicated. He is like a Duncan, but doing moves 10 times faster. D12 is an example of the epic failure….in terms of trying to learn from Hakeem.

  • joyce ward

D12 was not smart and he was kind of lazy. We are not asking Davis to be a replica of Hakeem, Just pick up some pointers.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Are the Lakers tanking? Does BS purposely lose games or is he always trying to win but simply a terrible coach?

Some are still not absoulutely sure how to answer these questions. Outside of the field of Mathematics, there is really no such thing as an absolute, fomal “proof.” But there is one exception. It’s in the realm of NBA coaching and takes the following form:

Theorem: If an NBA coach places Rob Sacre in his starting lineup, he is trying to lose.

BS has started Sacre 18 games this season. Therefore the Lakers are tanking.

Corallary: If an NBA coach gives Rob Sacre ANY minutes on the court other garbage time, he is trying to lose.

BS has given Sacre major minutes ahead of Davis, Boozer, Black, and even Hill, therefore he is purposely trying to lose games.

    QED

  • joyce ward

That blows your theory in the water. We all know Rondo can’t shoot. Why would Kobe want him if that was the case. Kobe just wants to be fed the ball and shoot.

  • Brent Yen

That could be useful indeed. But I am just saying the reason Hakeem was the best is not really because he is good at fundamentals, it was about how could he do those moves so quickly. I feel Ed just needs a very good development coach who can identify his strength and build something on it.

I think Ed will actually benefit more by working out with Z-Bo or Marc Gasol. JMO

  • joyce ward

i agree, D12 was the same way. Besides Davis has signed with CAA(Mel’s agency) and they always use Hakeem for their big men.

  • Chipdip

    Tanking.

  • Brent Yen

For sure, what I said is just one of the reason. Kobe will shoot regardless who is the PG anyway for most of the time. I still not buying the idea of “Kobe really wants Rondo” tho. IDK…

  • Chipdip

I love to see Davis and Lin play together. Of course that is kind of rare these days thanks to the tank commander (mostly from the FO directive!)

  • joyce ward

Why would he say that then if he didn’t mean it? Also Kobe has go silent lately. Usually when Lin has a big game or Lakers start praising Lin too much. Suddenly Kobe is giving and interview somewhere.Who knows maybe the Lakers will buy him out. The lakers organization has taken a big hit on their reputation since kobe/scott at the helm.

  • Brent Yen

LOL that’s true. IDK…I just can not understand why Kobe will want Rondo…so when they lose, he can blame everything on ROndo?

  • wu kong

https://youtu.be/Q1lERQQI54M nice video of the between the legs pass…

  • Brent Yen

I asked the exact same question when I saw that

  • Arsenium12 .

That was Patrick Patterson (#54) that he victimized. …

  • Chipdip

in addition, the chemistry of davis and lin is fantastic! Davis always focus on getting a pass from Lin and score… seen it over and over again… that is, when they have the chance to play together which of course is diminishing when the tank commandment is on!

  • wu kong

This made my husband laugh out loud. Just cracked him up and then made him laugh harder when no announcer mentioned it. He was in tears. Just could not believe they missed it too! ha ha

  • Brent Yen

I even rewinded to see it again because no one mentioned it.

  • joyce ward

Rondo doesn’t threaten him as a player. Lin threatens him with the fans. Also Rondo is probably the only person that he can recruit because nobody wants to play with him.I loved it when LBJ busted him on Kobe trying to recruit him. LBJ said Laker F/O called him but not Kobe.LOL

  • wu kong

He said it went right between their legs too! they never saw it!

  • Brent Yen

So Kobe wants a star who does not operate with a bball. lol..man he is delusional thinking Rondo will take that….

  • joyce ward
  • Brent Yen

    lol

  • joyce ward

Bench ain’t doing so hot without lin

  • joyce ward

    Yeah, he is..LOL

  • CJSHYY

I don’t think Lakers announcers are really that serious to watch Lin’s move at all even they finally be more nice to Lin. But NYK announcer did look very careful on Lin’s every move on court when Lin did a dribble between his own legs vs NYK in MSG… he said that’s new move…

  • Acbc

I haven’t watched a game for a long time, just replays. As it happened, my wife and I was at a sports bar for a late supper and the game was on.
Watching the rookies and scrubs play in the forth was mind glowingly ugly. Absolutely no flow and just one bad shot after another until the Raptors were up by 17.

So what is flow? It’s actually a train of though or ideas. I’ve often compared good Bball to a jazz band playing a standard. Basically, it’s all about having an idea of how the story or song begin, how the story develops to lead to an end. The flow then is a structure of plays that has a beginning, a middle and an end that results to a team score. This flow should seem ridiculously simple and yet, few caoches and athletes understand this process.

BS has a structure or framework to his offence. He uses the Princeton offence and may in fact know the intricacies of that offence. What he doesn’t understand is that he doesn’t have a concept of how to use his talent properly to find a few dependable scoring options. For most teams, it’s to throw the ball to the star player like a Lebron or Curry. This is how rudimentary the game can be to a simpleton coach. Scott has a story to tell in his plays and it’s called Kobe.

Linsanity however is about telling a story of 5 guys. How it begins, how it develops and how it ends in a score is distcitively different for each player. The beauty of Linsnat is that ability for LIN to develop 5 or 10 different stories for each player’s skills and how they “see” their own defining moments. It could be a Chnadler alley oop, a Novak three, a Fields cutting layup, etc.

A system exists only as a framework to tell the story. It isn’t the story. When a bad caoch doesn’t understand how to do that or teach the players to build points properly, they resort to ISO and wild shots. Without Lin on the court late in the game last night, the lakers degenerated into mindless chucking with no purpose.

and hence football is a symphony.

An exec coach once told me, startups are like jazz bands, and large companies are symphonies. You need a great set of riffs to get small groups of people going, and you need a master conductor to move big groups.

Lin’s non-scoring minutes are to me beautiful riffs, and then I see his teammates playing back sour notes. Lin is a bb king, Louis Armstong, a Les McCann … Lin is as good as “Compared to What” …

  • joyce ward

psalm, res that Torre article you posted and it was just fantastic.

  • JoeTeam

TBlack too, great attitude and just not quite as consistent as Davis.

  • JoeTeam

yes, the DNP-CD amplification of fan-fears was not right. I admitted the one, but I never believed and have been proven right that Lin is not a DNP-CD guy because he simply is known by FOs around the league as a guy who can get to the rim at-will. That is what an insider told me, take that to the bank.

footwork? I love the feeling of making a head, torso, hip move, and your feet are in total control doing something else. Can’t get that feeling in any other sport because in soccer, your feet are not only the feet that move you, but they are your hands the people cannot watch as they watch other parts of your body, esp when you are close and pressing them on contact. Wow, a sports rush everyone has to try and master … it’s so … full of no-look promise.

  • joyce ward

    Good. I like it

  • Brent Yen

Just general observation….He is about the same age as Lin, a bit younger.

  • JoeTeam

how cheap are the tix now?

  • joyce ward

Lin hanging tough. It depends on when he started his antibiotics. It usually takes 48-72 hours for them to kick in.He might be feeling by game time tomorrow.

  • joyce ward

Laker media has picked quotes from lin’s article to address.LOL

  • Maknusia

yeah…look at SNash, JLin, JKidd, Kobe, Manu, DNowitzki, to name a few

  • joyce ward

About $50, nose bleeds and about $70 dollars on 1st and 2nd row.I buy tickets from stubhub, and my friend said she and her husband paid $100. for two in the premiere section.LOL

  • joyce ward

    What is this about?

  • CJSHYY

NY Fans are planning to have big welcome for Lin to NY games this Sun vs Nets.

  • Maknusia

oh! really…nice…..who knows…one of these days…he may go back to Knicks?! 🙂

  • joyce ward

    That is awesome

  • CJSHYY

It said It’s Jeremy Lin day. Guess it’s the promote by Nets to sell the tickets. In fact, Nets always did that when Lin was in town.

  • JoeTeam

and that article just about says … I’m moving because I just rent a nice beach apartment, and they sat me 2 levels down, not gonna take it, let me tell you Pablo.

  • JoeTeam

if LAL buys Kobe out, then LAL is free to win. The town, fans, and owners can win at-will. It’s just a losing mentality based in holding onto a dad’s passing and whatever promises they made to him and each other.

  • JoeTeam

“Stu, your contract is on the line unless you give Lin some props.” crazy fan fiction, jk.

  • JoeTeam

wow, $70 first row i am blown away. GSW is about $1000 2nd row retail but I haven’t seen the stub hub. If I were in LAL, I’d take family to see 24 mins of Lin for $70/seat 2nd row you lucky lady. Only a few more home games … $100 for premier … does it come with dinner?

  • JoeTeam

thank you for your story! JLin will come to your town soon so stay with this and next year I hope your team isn’t doing well so tix for JLin will be inexpensive! to make up for you intrepid adventures where the fish got away.

  • JoeTeam

    Yes Sir!

  • JoeTeam

I love his movement, though am reading here about his lack of post-up. I think he moves very fluidly and his hands are very good when above his hips. He’s dropped a few low passes. Tips from good post players might help but don’t know if his handles are solid under contact.

  • joyce ward

You guys need to follow this guy because he keeps it real on the NBA and it’s black players: @hbryant42

  • Brent Yen

    I liked what he said.

  • Brent Yen

He needs to catch the ball very close to rim, or he needs to have a clear lane to his left. He just does not maneuver well with the ball otherwise. He is very good at rolling b4 he catches the ball and is very good at making himself available to the ball handler in general.

  • Marie Simon

with the coach blessings, read the new article of Mark M., stated BS thought JC as a “home run” for them, lol!!

  • joyce ward

    He just tweeted me back.

  • sport

Not really only 35 minutes, that’s the kind of minutes a legit starter should be getting!

  • sport

I noticed this right away when watching highlights and did a double take, maybe the announcers didn’t catch it.

  • sport

    NYK announcers were the best.

  • sport

Consistent comes with veteran experience, Boozer has been the most consistent out of the bigs. TBlack is definitely more athletic and active than Davis, although Davis is a smarter player and knows how to work well with a PG like Lin.

  • jakey

Someone mentioned this earlier and I think it has some meaning. Lakers are helping Jeremy land his next home team where he will polish his skills, which he already has. Might be his sponsors (Tag and Adidas) that put some words into the FO. Lakers will try to sign Jeremy back in the near future. Lakers want him to leave in good terms( by then BS and Kobe will be gone).

  • sport

Nick Young has potential and is fearless but he really has to bring more offensive moves to his game beside shooting contested 3s all day. Johnson can be great player, last game he’s the first player all season who I’ve seen giving a great pass to Lin for a wide open layup!

  • lleepar

Byron Scott to Mark Medina: [link]
“‘You have a lot of free agents out there who would love to play for us. They’ve been making it pretty clear’, Scott said. You have guys during the games come by the bench saying, ‘Hey Coach, I would love to be in L.A. next year. That makes you feel good there are players out there that want to be here.'”
    _____

My question: Does that comment sound even the tiniest bit credible to those of you who are close to the game? Moreover, what organization would want to employ a player that would do that to their own team … and during a game yet?

  • JoeTeam

Agree with sponsor pressure, as that’s a win/win for everyone committed to Lin.

  • sport

D12 is a very slow post player, even DMo had faster better post moves than him!

  • JoeTeam

    True on Booz.

  • JoeTeam

true, in general. I think 2 games ago, ED had a very nice behind the back pass from Lin and he really held his elevation to make it an easy layup. I don’t think that is easy in the air. You are right I don’t think he has the handles (below waist hand control) to weave through more than one dribble to get at the rim.

  • JoeTeam

and his rolls are so crisp, he gets separation so Lin has a clear choice. I think Lin described that in a post-game within the last ten games and I started to see the excellence ED has in his rolls.

  • Brent Yen

Indeed there is a remote possibility for that.

  • wandertheglobe

He’s trying to say, despite being one of the worst teams in the league, I’m a players coach, they loved me and I should have a job. He’s called BS for a reason.

  • joyce ward

Scott is such a liar. I don’t believe for one second that any player said that to him, at least the star players in the league.

  • Brent Yen

    Yep

  • sport

With Davis’ bb iq, if he can master mid jumper and play making he’d be a poor man’s Blake Griffin without his extended 3 point range in recent years.

  • John Lee

Too bad the same can’t be said about the owner and F/O.

  • Maknusia

Must be some bench rookie who doesnt know whats going on in LAL!

  • sport

I like tennis too cause there aren’t any height advantage and you can play with anyone of any gender without awkward body contact.

  • 1mtoldman

    dont hand me the “remote”.

  • Keith

Loved what he tweeted yesterday after Lin article by Pablo is published. I hit follow button immediately

  • 1mtoldman

can you say that on here?

  • joyce ward

He is making crap up . He knows that his days are numbered in Lakers land. He is just trying to save his job. With scott spreading these lies gives me hope that the Lakers are about to fire him.

  • 1mtoldman

brook lopez is playing really well looking for new employment in the future i would assume; if scott plays his regular d league bigs leaving davis/boozer/hill on the bench for most of the time he will eat the lakers up just as jv and budinger did.

  • 1mtoldman

this was i beleive only the 2nd game this year lin has got 36 minutes. (not checking but i think thats close to accurate).

  • linspiredinla

    where can I see this?

  • tin3ytina

he’s just saying that to get more people interested in coming to la. maybe ONE clueless guy talked to him, and now we got him over exaggerating

  • joyce ward
  • joyce ward

I don’t believe that even happened. I think Scott knows his days are numbered and he trying to drum up some support.

  • sport

RW the shot chucker leaving OKC maybe be a blessing in disguise for Kevin Durant to finally take over.

  • tin3ytina

yeah, i wouldn’t trust a single word that comes out of his mouth. he’s been contradicting himself all season. not credible at all

  • linspiredinla
  • lleepar

I did a total double-take on that quote. During a game? When you’re on the job for your employer? You saunter over to the very public bench of your competitor announce your availability? WHAT? Moreover, Scott apparently wants readers to think it has happened multiple times. Good grief.

  • sport

Rondo isn’t much a scoring PG that’s why no one wants him. Nowadays everyone wants a scoring PG like Steph Curry or Westbrook not just a PG who can pass well, passing has become 2nd priority. That’s why in recent years even CP3’s fame has taken a dive.

  • linspiredinla

Special program for JLin tomorrow during Brooklyn game. Just like Toronto last night. I should have explained it, Joyce.

  • joyce ward

That is ok, I am glad for lin:) I saw you tweet about the China getting the article. Has there been any feedback yet?

  • sport

It’s even more ridiculous when Johnson can have horrible shooting games with single digit points yet get 40+ minutes! Never see that happen for Lin at all! If Lin had that kind of treatment he had at least two 30 point games by now! Last game was a great example of how Lin could get 18 points in 35 minutes even with an on/off shooting night.

  • joyce ward
  • CJSHYY

I don’t believe any big name said that to him… morel like the nobody guy that is looking for job… LOL!

  • CJSHYY

Lakers wants to loss so they don’t care about it. I just want Lin to have his good stats that’s all. Lakers will loss for sure.

  • Keith

Now haters use this as “Lin said….” to bash Lin.

  • CJSHYY

It’s not matter bc if they don’t like they will find any excuse…

  • Linja

Anyone posted the score card produce by ? in which smiling faces, tanks, etc were added to each player, and BS’s. ????

  • You’re such a good writer, @parentofan8thgrader:disqus 🙂

I can totally relate to the excitement of your family (ok, you 🙂 in watching JLin in action. The story of your little one asking who you love more -basketball or kids are hilarious! My wife and I had a chuckle about it

Welcome and we can’t wait to read Part 3 when you almost met him

  • joyce ward
  • nice analogy =)

  • very true, that’s the very thing. I totally believe there is some truth of what BScott said that they’re evaluating players for next year.
Noone knew if Kobe will even come back so they better be nice to Lin so he opens some door of coming back ..
Personally, I don’t think it’s next year but I think Kupchak and Jeanie Buss want to be nice to Lin in case he considers coming back in 2 years after Kobe era is over in LA

  • true, perhaps Jeanie Buss took notice that Lin becomes a crowd favorite in Staples Center

  • oh yeah, Lin should never come back as a backup and never playing behind the shadow of Kobe and BScott. He can easily shine as a starter in a good system. That’s what we all wish for him

  • joyce ward

Yep, it does. Me and my brother are going to attend one of the last games on April 12 with Dallas mavericks and we have premiere sating at $100 dollars for both tickets.

  • great observation, something definitely scared Kupchak/Buss recently regarding Kobe’s health .. no news about his recovery, his somber mood when talking about it followed by Lin’s intentional promotional in DVD, 180-degree shift of TWCSN commentaries, etc.

can’t wait to see what will happen next =)

  • hehe.. I don’t blame you

    BScott is delusional.

  • Rookie75094

Haters hate Jlin so much that they can’t. ………. quit him..hahaha

Way more positive comments than negative on the Isolation Play article. Here are a few excerpts:

Alex Kavo · New York, New York
… As Lin himself said, we (the basketball viewing nation) aren’t used to seeing people of “Asian” descent do the things that he does–that makes it easier for “us” to unfairly fascinate over his success (“wait, someone who looks like that can score a basketball?”) and at the same time, provide derogatory reasons for his failures that are steeped in prejudice (“of course he can’t guard so-and-so, there’s no way he could be athletic enough”).

Chris Giangeruso · St. peter’s college, jersey city
… For all his talent, Kobe is so insecure that he feels he has to make derogatory remarks about Jeremy Lin. When you measure the full integrity of a man you must add up a host of variables: morality, compassion professionalism, intelligence, and work ethic. I added Jeremy Lins score compared to Bryants score and the result was the biggest blowout on the losing end for Kobe Bryant…

    Stan Anvik · Top Commenter
Lifelong Rocket fan here: I NEVER faulted Jeremy for his work ethic, nor his attitude while a member of the Rockets. His own worst enemy really is at times himself, with the pressure he places upon himself. To be fair, that pressure has been largely driven by the media spectacle that accompanied his rise to stardom in New York. I wonder if one day we will look back at his career and think of it as being somewhat similar to the way we think of Jackie Robinson? I can say this…as a person, I respect him FAR more than I ever would someone like Kobe Bryant. Keep your head up Jeremy, and remember that even with the difficulties you’ve faced that 99.999999% of the population of the world would love to trade places with you.

Grace Dahye Kwon · English Professor at Kyungnam University
…People think that the loud, violent man is the tough one but I think that if you have to go around showing off, it is a sign of insecurity and weakness. True toughness is not flung around and worn like a cape, it comes from within. Men who are tough don’t need to remind people they are, they just are. The strongest men I know are quiet and willed, work hard everyday, show love and compassion when they mean it, and can bring people to their knees with one look. They survive when others don’t. They fight when others won’t. They are people who save others when people walk away. They are not loud mothed basketball players who spew hateful words snd mock others as a way of dealing with their own insecurities because they know that one day, they too will be used up and done for. No, someone with true strength will take all their pain and anguish and fight through it without bringing others down. It is harder not to make fun of someone and help them, then it is to fling insults. That is the easy way out. That is weakness.

Soooo many good ones. Let me know if you are interested for more. Complete comment section is at http://espn.go.com/espn/conversations/_/id/12561636/inside-jeremy-lin-life-linsanity-new-york-knicks.

Holy crap…I am jealous. I know it’s a tank team and all but to be able to watch JLin play live at that price is awesome.

  • linspiredinla
  • linspiredinla
  • joyce ward

Well it tells me that he is liked by LA Fans despite the media trying to railroad him out of town.

  • GoodDayLA

couldn’t it just be a bunch of lin fans voting, like how the TNT cam is always 99% Lin because we’re the only ones voting?

  • GoodDayLA

If Khuang said that, then I think he is WRONG. Ed Davis is vital to Lin as much as Lin is vital for Ed. Ed plays faithfully with Lin allowing Lin’s talents to really show.

Ed Davis is NO D League scrub. He might be an NBA 6th man type backup PF/C but this is a guy who would be an amazing backup PF or good starting PF with Lin.

  • GoodDayLA

Joyce next season will only be successful if the Lakers get really lucky and Kobe injures himself for the season in PRE-season. Otherwise, next season will be a laugher and stinker too.

  • GoodDayLA

KHUANG was actually right. BS was trying to do that.

What Khuang missed is that the Lakers value Lin on some level as a franchise, so they did not allow BS to continue to do it.

So Khuang was right and wrong. Right in that the coach WAS trying to DNP-CD Lin but wrong that nobody had Lin’s back. Because even if the Lakers don’t care for Lin, they are letting him play 25-30 minutes now and letting him kind of play his game so he can be successful.

I am not happy with the Lakers but they are allowing Lin to kind of do his thing, so I cannot completely hate on them. I will be more unhappy with Lin if he resigns with the Lakers this summer assuming Kobe is fully healthy and returning.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Most Lin’s fans want him out.

  • joyce ward

I go to the games, and lin is a fan favorite. I don’t give a crap about the internet haters, because I surmise it to be about 12 people using different internet ID’s.

  • joyce ward

    Exactly

  • GoodDayLA

Ed, Iman, Lin, Ryan Anderson, and say a Kwawi Leonard. On my…

  • GoodDayLA

Ed doesn’t need a post game or more moves if he just plays pick and roll and make himself a target down low on switches when he pins a 6 foot 6 guy on his back.

    Both benefit.

  • joyce ward

Sorry, Lin doesn’t really need Davis. Lin’s talent is there. I think once he gets comfortable with Black, he will make him look like a superstar

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Kobe vs Carmelo ?
Kobe has 5 rings while Melo 0

  • GoodDayLA

3 years ago I imagined D12 playing exactly like how Ed Davis is now with Lin. I knew what it could be but D12 is so stupid he cannot see it and doesn’t understand that Lin was not a scrub.

As fate would have it, Lin has Ed Davis now and vice versa. Ed is not quite D12 athletically in D12’s prime, but man Ed really plays so faithfully with Lin that I cannot imagine a better big man anywhere on any NBA team for Lin to play with.

Ed is a godsend to Lin and vice versa.

  • joyce ward

I think they will seriously try to buy Kobe out. Recently I have talked to a lot of laker die hards and they like lin and they also realize that kobe needs to go. The laker fan base ha s changed and the F/O needs to open up their eyes to this.

  • GoodDayLA

Lin’s camp is putting on a full course press to prepare for free agency this summer. They are trying. I hope the effort works and Lin finds the right team this summer. That team is not the Lakers, but if there is karma, Kobe will injure himself in pre-season and Lin will just take over due to sheer luck and timing, just as how Linsanity happened.

  • joyce ward

You see, I don’t think Kobe will play next year if they don’t reel in a “superstar”. I see the Lakers offering Kobe a substantial buyout.

  • GoodDayLA

1st row of what? Section 100’s are about still several hundred a piece. I’d have to fork out $800.00 to get decent seats in the lower levels center court. Joyce must have hookups.

  • GoodDayLA

I have always suspected Lin must actually be amazingly good to make the NBA. And so I am not surprised he is now starting to get back to killing NBA teams.

However, Lin cannot ever has another season of looking confused or frustrated. He must get over his hurdle of not being able to co-exist on the court OR he simply has to dominate so hard he becomes the team’s star and not just Ringo on the beatles.

  • FrankW

Get out of town and found a better team and coach.
Please, no more backup to a backup’s backup.
    No more DNP-CD.
No more being thrown under the bus.
No more being benched when playing well.
No more baby seating newbies and iced out at the same time.
No more playing with selfish Kobe wannabes.
No more blown assists by the dozens per game.
    No more tanking.
    Not another pointless season please.

  • GoodDayLA

Lin’s haircut says a lot. Early in the season, he had the slick tight young and modern haircut fit for GQ. Lin cared about his appearance on and off the court and wanted to do well so badly.

Now we’ve come full circle. Lin has the ugly mop top back and I mean it looks unkempt. But his hairstyle tells us Lin is now relaxing, not so concerned about appearances on all sorts of levels.

He’s now relaxed and he seems just able to play and it’s impressive. I hope he learns to channel whatever he is doing now for the rest of his career.

There will be bad games and struggles, but his focus right now is so good. I hope when he gets stuck playing with the next Kobe or Melo or Harden he’s stuck with, that he can still do what he is doing now and no longer struggle like in the past.

And if Lin comes back to LA, I hope he plays for all the marbles and takes no prisoners, especially when it comes to Kobe bryant. I hope Lin runs Kobe OFF the court.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Thanks for posting this link. The comments are mostly positive, thoughtful or at least civilized. But I think that’s because posting is through Facebook. That makes it harder for trolls to post obnoxious crap while hiding behind a screen name. 🙂

  • sport

Lin’s still top 3 PG in total blocks (30) for the season tied with Kemba Walker.
Lin and John Wall have both dropped and tied at top 3 in blocks per 48 minutes.

  • GoodDayLA

I do believe Lin can play with any talent. He is that good. But Ed Davis may be lacking in some talent, but because he is limited, he plays within himself, passes to Lin, defers, and screens so well, and rolls so dutifully. That consistency makes up for lack of talent. That helps Lin keep his turnovers down, that helps Lin know where Ed will be and so Lin knows when and how to attack.

We saw the same with Tyson Chandler who rolled so well. I don’t think you can undervalue what Ed Davis does for Lin.

I do agree Lin can easily survive and find yet another guy to make it work with, but so far Ed has had the best atttitude and chemistry with Lin and Lin has found that tough to find in the NBA

  • GoodDayLA

Perhaps it is possible. Depends on how badly they want to move forward. Lin will have to play some chess this summer

  • GoodDayLA

i hope you are right! I just dont think they are ready to close the door on Kobe.

Joyce is right that among normal people Lin is respected rather than disliked. I rather work for a guy like Lin than Kobe any day. And of course, hire also.

  • 1mtoldman

since asg when lin plays 28 minutes or more lakers 5-5
lin plays less than 28 minutes lakers are 1-7

so it would seem imperative to tanking that lin play less minutes than has been given last few games however….

truth be told there’s really little or no reason for lakers to tank most of games rest of the way. highly unlikely they will fall out of the bottom five and little % gain by moving down what is realistic from them to move down. of course games remaining against 6ers and minn i suppose could be consider as must lose; but as i see the rest of the sked the most that could shift would be lakers improve to 3 or fall to 5 and neither one makes a lot of difference.

course there aren’t that many games left the lakers could win even if they played their best players/combinations best minutes.

still at some point and i think that point has already passed really no excuse of further tank measures.

I am still waiting for Lin Foundation to market Lunch with Lin events. Lol.

Oh wow, what is this book about?

  • JLin Fan from Australia

For me, the best way to cope with sinustinus is using nose spray. It will dry out quickly. Normally I don’t take antibiotic for sinustinus or upper respiratory infection. Just use nose spray. Don’t even take painkiller (can’t have one). I suffer this for about 30 years. Severely when I lived in North Texas. Few times per year but getting much better for living in Brisbane; maybe once per year.

  • webattorney

If Lin starts for another team and visits Fakers or Clippers, I am attending.

  • Brent Yen

    Even in 76ers?

Yes. Even if he was playing for Sixers.

  • joyce ward

Thanks @webattorney:disqus. Lin is smart, he has a brand that has been patent. How many players in the NBA has done that. LBJ seems to have a good business, he is the executive producer for a show on Showtime called Survivor’s Remorse” It is really good and hilarious. It pokes fun of the basketball world. LBJ has cashed in on the Beats by DRE. Lin has signed on with Whistle Sports(the largest internet sports channel) and is actually a stock holder along with Peyton Manning. Also this endorsement by Tag Huere watch is major. Also Lin is marketing his brand in China and Europe. His shoe are only being marketing in those countries.

  • joyce ward

It would spit in the Lakers face if Lin signed with the Clippers. They would lose a lot of fans going over to the Clippers. Lakers don’t get it that this generation of fans is all about winning now. They don’t care what you did in the past. I think that the Lakers are slowing losing ground in LA. If and when the football team comes back to LA, Lakers are done.

  • jakey

Well, facts are facts and Lin was not DNP-CD like many thought, but the waves on wave of DNP-CD was just too much. And, who cares if Lin signs again, as long as he wins and can play his way. I’d think he wouldn’t put himself through this again, so if he signs, there’s some assurance of a new path. Else Lin is doing something irrational, and I don’t think he is irrational. That Torre article says a lot.

Already got some backwash on the haircut, but I agree that he seems to have turned yet another corner in his journey to be comfortable in his own skin. Like you say, relaxed…just ballin, smiling more, still diplomatic but nonetheless more outspoken. It’s not just FA coming up…I feel a new era for him.

  • 1mtoldman

i think the masked marvel is losing it taking hero ball to the xtreme with all those triple doubles and that mask making him feel invincible; 2nite against a poorly shooting utah team playing without their best player (favors) okc trailing as masked marvel going for a different triple double, points/assists/turnovers; 9 so far, more than the entire okl. team.

mm has ibaka, durant, roberson out

    My JLin Story Part 3

Picking up from where I left off in Part 2. How I almost ran into JLin and his family.

So I continue to watch JLin play with the Rockets once he returns from his injury. And like all of you, every game that JLin was in was exciting to watch – whether he started or came off the bench – it was an exciting drama all the same. My frustration was that despite how well the Rockets and JLin were doing, the NY radio media would not talk about them – it seemed like it was always about the Knicks and the Lakers! The Knicks I did not mind but I did NOT care to hear about the Lakers. (How ironic that now I would love to hear them talk about the Lakers but they have only mentioned them a couple of times, just recently when they talked about how Lin had been benched during the 4th quarter of the Timberwolves game). I was dying to discuss JLin and his game, and the Rockets – in that order.

So one night, while working late at the office (and I was not goofing off because I own the business and I was there really late taking care of something.) I think I had just watched a Rockets game, and I did what any normal Rockets fan would do. I called in to a Houston-based sports radio show. Unlike ESPN who kept me on line for an hour or so before I hung up due to lost reception (yes, I called in during the height of Linsanity), I was accepted right away and only had to wait about 5 minutes or so (it helped that I told them I was calling from NYC). And then I talked. I talked about the Rockets. I talked about Linsanity (but in the context of how it led me to the Rockets). And trying to sound as nonchalant as I could, I talked about JLin! I tried really hard not to gush too much about JLin- lest I prove the Clutchfans correct- and tried hard to sound knowledgeable about the Rockets and b-ball. How it all sounded coming out of the mouth of a female caller, I, of course, do not know. They probably could tell that I was a covert JLin fan posing as a Rockets fan.

Now onto how I almost met JLin and his family. Two winters ago, we took our kids to several northeast colleges and universities to watch their sporting events such as ice hockey, volleyball and basketball. One of the places we visited was Harvard where we watched Harvard women’s basketball team play Cornell. It was the same gym that JLin and his Harvard team had played in. At one point, I took my youngest two to use the restroom, took the wrong turn getting there and we ended up in some sort of a lounge overlooking the gym. I think it was for the University president or some other VIP. And, in that room, we saw JLin’s Harvard jersey all framed up and hung up prominently – a proof that they were indeed very proud of JLin and how he put Harvard on the NCAA men’s basketball map. It was so cool to see that.

On the way home, we stayed over at a hotel in Connecticut and passed a road sign that said “Connecticut College.” Didn’t pay much attention to it at that time. Settled everyone in and I turned on my computer to check my email. OK, here’s what you have to know before I tell you what happened next. My husband and I take our kids to many college sporting events (remember how I told you in Part I that I had first watched JLin play when I took my kids to watch a Columbia basketball game and he was playing with Harvard in that game?) And we don’t discriminate when it comes to college games. We watch all schools, small to big, to Division III to Division I to the Ivy League. We plan our family trips around college games. And, Connecticut College was only about 10 minutes away from the hotel we were staying at.

So I get on the internet from the hotel. And what did I find out? I find out from a JLin fan forum that a kid who happened to be at Connecticut College’s basketball game THAT evening happened to run into JLin and his family who were at the game to watch his younger brother play for Hamilton College! The kid tweeted about it! The tweet was sent at about the time I was probably passing by the sign for Connecticut College!!!

Why, why, why? Why did we NOT go to the basketball game at Connecticut College? We always look for college sporting events around our hotel. Why did we decide on THIS night not to look into it??? And, from JLin’s tweets or blogs (forgot which at this point), I learned that he and his family had rented a house for a family get together during the All Star break. Would not be surprised if it had been near Connecticut College. WHY did I NOT check the sports calendar for Connecticut College? I would have seen that they were playing Hamilton, and I knew that JLin’s brother played for Hamilton, and we would have certainly gone to the game just to see how the younger Lin plays . . . and we would have been rewarded with an encounter with JLIn!!!

Can you imagine, how awesome it would have been? I would walk into the gym at Connecticut College with my five little ones trailing behind me, and given that funny image, JLin and his family would turn around to see us march across the gym, and all seven of us (minus my husband who has more self control than me in these matters) would have GASPED and we would have shouted instinctively, “Jeremy Lin! We went to see you all the way in Houston – but here we are in Connecticut — seeing you and your family face to face – in this relatively small gym — cheering on your brother and his team together!” The bonding moment we could have had . . .

Truth be told, it’s probably for the best that we skipped on Connecticut College that fateful snowy night. It would have been too much. What would I have said? How could I have stopped myself from blabbering on with JLIn and his family, and interrupting their family vacation? There’s so much in JLin’s story and there’s so much I understand about his story – his life as an athlete, as a basketball player, as a person of faith, as an Asian-American, as a son, as an “underdog” (when he clearly has always been a gifted athlete), as a pioneer. I get it, you know. And, I would have wanted them to know that I get it, and that I get it really well. Ahhhh, I was so close to running into them – naturally, without any crazy, expensive planning, but very organically, very unexpectedly.

This has become a very long story, and I will end it here. I did have another near miss with JLin in San Francisco last year, but not as exciting as the Connecticut College miss. Perhaps JLin will come back to play for NY in the future. Who knows. His story is as unpredictable as our own stories. As I end here, JLin is somewhere in NYC getting ready to play the Nets tomorrow. He loves Korean BBQ – how cool would it be if I accidentally run into JLin at a Korean restaurant here in NY . . .

  • JLin Fan from Australia

That’s so true. At least give me a break so that I can concentrate on getting my life in order:-)

  • Brent Yen

    Thanks for sharing those!!

My pleasure! I knew you guys would understand.

  • Acbc

Hill is one of those players who loves to shoot long 2s. What I would do is to recognize his skill but tell a different story that fits his skill instead. Set a new beginning, middle and end series of actions by which I can get him an open look for a corner 3 and take advantage of what he is good at.

Same with Wes or Ellington and you’ll have multiple scoring options that can be told in different ways to fit the defence.

  • tin3ytina

It’s okay.. No one thought they would play as well as they did. Props to them!

  • JoeTeam

    Sweet!

  • sws94

He better, I’ll be at the game.

  • Acbc

This is exactl what I mean by each of them telling their own stories. They all have particular skills that can end with a score. Lin has the ability to help them build that story from beginning to end.

  • FrankW

9 turnovers all by himself. 23 team turnovers, given up 28 points.

The only bad thing about MDA is Lin will have to play 42 mpg…..

  • JoeTeam

Problem with hill is no big man in the paint if you let him keep playing his game. And he’s not mobile enough to generate options outside. So, losing situation. Oh, wait, bsc knows that lol.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

well, if the team has a good backup pg, then the starting pg won’t have to play 42 mpg

  • Acbc

I used to tell my students to never get drunk on power. The euphoria of you’re own greatness blinds you to the process and the details of how to respect the game. Greatness is never owned, it’s a borrowed crown. The harder you rule above everyone else, the more they will remember to return the favour with interest. Win with grace and respect the pride of those you’ve defeated.

When you look at KOBE and now Westbrook, you can see that they are drunk with the koolaide of their own greatness. Once you begin to love and crave the fawning of the media, you’ve already become an addict of that drug. To keep getting that high, you would step on your own teammates to do it. Soon no one else matters except for yourself.

Mda plays Lin too much. I like the kings. George Karl recognizes Lin talent, up tempo, preaches selfless basketball, the rival star on the team is cousin’s who is a big man to play with Lin, not against him, and Lin stays in California. He loves California. The owners also want Lin style of play. Fast.

  • Acbc

Hill doesn’t play like a big, so maybe he should be played as a 3, 4.

  • Maknusia

Good to see its being widely tweeted!

  • Maknusia

During the NYK, the situation was different, new player….more exposure, lack of backup PGs, and to keep riding the rare wins the got…etc. I dont think on a normal season MDA would play him more than 40min

  • Marie Simon

Listening to ESPN Ny on my way home from work, they did talk about the animositiy between Lebron & Love, thereby I predict that Kevin Love would definitely consider going to Lakersland just to get out of Lebron, NBA is an extension of Hollywood, lol!

I will be at the game today with my kids. I wish I knew how to post pics on here. I have greAt shots from MSG a few months ago are you in my Joe?

“You hate to miss an opportunity to coach somebody that receptive, that
good. He’s one of those special point guards,” he told Torre.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin in the off season will have lots of competition for his service as the most underrated PG in the league.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Plus he hasn’t been used properly by Byron Scott. The combination of Byron + Koby had driven away lots of basketball stars from LA.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This OKC team would be demolished in the first round. See how they have just been crushed. How many TOs Westbrook made in the game? Gosh, the disastrous is an understatement.

  • Game 72 Thread vs BKN is now open
    http://www.jlinportal.com/g72-lal-bkn-game-thread/

11 games left in the season!

Let’s hope Jeremy has overcome his sinus issues and will be ready to lead the charge against Brooklyn Nets to start and close the game strongly.

We know Byron will try to tank by resting JLin a lot in Q2 but Jeremy can continue to excel in his role whenever he’s given a chance to play on-court.

It will be interesting to watch if Jeremy will be given another 35 min to play again like he did in the TOR game. It will provide more evidence that Lakers Front Office gave Byron Scott the order to evaluate Jeremy Lin further as a starter in the last 13 games of the season.

    Let’s Go Jeremy!

  • Chipdip

Can’t wait to see where he will end up with for next season. The waiting for Lin fan will be painful this summer! Anyway, well done Jeremy! Go Lin Go!

Hi Rose – if you use Mac, all you have to do is drag you pic from desktop or iPhoto to this box you draft in.

If you do PC, I don’t know, but pressing the picture icon on the lower left will get you a select pic screen. Then you carefully pick one (don’t send the ones you don’t want, because I haven’t figured out how to remove a pic.)

It’s too bad JLin is sick, but maybe you guys can go say hello after the game. I waited to get an autograph last time he was at GSW and he was so nice to sign so many before the game. My son has that on our mantel.

    Have fun!

  • JoeTeam

yep, so the question is, he is better than a 3 or 4? His shots inside the long 2 hit pretty well, but he’s not good on D and doesn’t move as well.
