G71 CHA @ BKN Game Thread

What a tremendous game! After JLin unleashed his best Linsanity performance (29pts/7rebs/2asts/1stl) to almost single-handedly beat the mighty Spurs, what can we expect on the back end of a back-to-back game at Brooklyn Nets tonight?

  • If Kemba regains his shooting touch after 2 bad games (8-29 shooting, 1-13 3FGM), we can expect a smaller usage for JLin (15min) similar to what happened after the huge Cavs win when JLin started and Kemba was out
  • Our only hope is JLin continues to ride high on his relaxed approach and confidence level to attack and shoot. Whether Clifford chooses to use him or not, he will prove to be a formidable weapon to be used in the playoff while auditioning for the rest of the NBA
  • Will this Spurs win change the Hornets mind to give him bigger role in hopes of resigning him to a larger contract? Probably not since, Courtney Lee’s strong play will be a good match next to Kemba next season

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s hope and prayΒ JLin would continue to play well after some relaxing family time no matter if he finishes or not.

    1st Linsanity 2.0 !

The Brooklin logo is really an eye catcher. It seems this is bound to happen.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yeah my #1 favorite poster wins.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

They need to win games like tonight to secure the playoff because next month games like @Cleveland, @Toronto @Boston will not fun.

  • It’s only appropriate πŸ™‚

    JLin is all @heart:disqus!

  • cdblue10

I love those games since Lin can play longer minutes guarantee because they’re real contenders and Cliif needs to play one of his best player on the court. Games like Nets would be cheesy since Kemba will play longer minutes tonite.

  • cdblue10

    Keep that coming heart

  • Whitman Lam

Kemba usually plays well at Brooklyn Nets and the Knicks, because it’s his hometown. Maybe Lin’s performance last night will light a fire up his azz, and he will stop bricking so many shots and putting his team into a hole in the 1st quarter. This Hornets team still lives and dies by the shooting of Kemba and Marvin Williams. They need to get their act together, because Lin can’t bail them out each and every time fall behind in the 1st half.

  • blubell

    I’m voting Hairsanity again πŸ™‚

  • JLin shared in the post-game interview that Kemba has been his biggest supporter since he came.
I’m sure he’s always diplomatic in his statement but there’s also some truth when he said something (e.g. JLin has never said Kobe was his biggest supporter in LA)

And watching Jun Liu highlights, I saw Kemba cheered for the bench and encouraged JLin after he got fouled before draining his last 2 FTs. I believe he was genuine in cheering for JLin but at the same time, he’d prove to the rest of the world that he’s the main guy in the Hornets tonight as that’s his livelihood.

It’s unfortunate that Kemba’s tunnel-vision and need of handling the ball conflicts with JLin’s style of being a ball-handling PG with excellent court-vision. He doesn’t know any other way to play.

Perhaps Kemba will be back to the main PG for the rest of 12 games + playoff and JLin is back in his 20 min role unless Kemba struggles again. Or in the unlikely scenario, perhaps a light-bulb flickered and JLin and Kemba can find a way to play together.

But I will choose to enjoy JLin’s relaxed mode and high confidence whenever he steps on the floor in the next 12 games and playoff series. I believe the rest will take care of itself.

My hope is JLin will contribute his best in the partnership with Kemba and the Hornets tonight then he will find his destiny to be a starting PG in an NBA team who is willing to invest in him. JLin’s potential is too great to be hidden as a backup PG/SG in 20 min as a Hornet.

  • JoeTeam

Well, we know now he’s working hard in practice on his shot, and the prayers he asked for about perseverance and his youtube sort of tells us he’s 80% through it. I always think JLin doesn’t ask for fan help until he’s baked it once or twice.

That moonball and his pulled, sort of ugly floater that worked was about as good as it gets. The 3s were pulled fast. 4/4 isn’t easy, yet it is not like 12 3s, so while there is room to grow, he just needs more minutes and a faster scoring offense. If he’s got a role on a 125pt game, he will get high 3s in rhythm just like Steph, KT, etc.

  • πŸ˜€ I’m actually voting 17pts/2asts as JLin continues his hot shooting streak but being the good/smart guy that he is, he will try to involve Kemba more in hopes they can partner together for the last 12 games + playoff.

This Lin guy is quite brilliant in networking and strategizing πŸ™‚
He will try his best to avoid making it a zero-sum game where only he or Kemba can play well.

  • yeah, the prayers took some time but Chef Lin is cooking and baking now!

Perhaps we should call Kemba Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde coz whatever he’s showing on the court is different than that on the sideline. Everyone puts on a face when the TV is on them. We all know that Kemba iced Lin purposely, it’s not just his tunnel-vision playing style. Lin played a lot of minutes last night without Kemba and only when Kemba’s shots weren’t falling that he decided to pass to his teammates. How many of us have known people like that? In front of you they’re supportive and cheering you on, only to act differently behind you. People sometimes can be so nice and toxic at the same time!

  • blubell

  • A brave Brooklyn Nets fan made this comment to build a team around JLin at the Hornets forum.
    Let’s go, Brook-LIN Nets!!!

get your pitchforks out. long knives.

Call me a hater. But i would build a team around Jeremy Lin. I had no idea he could move like that. His brillance is w his ball movement AND WHAT HE DOES MOVING TO GET THE BALL BACK AND DO SOMETHING W IT. Kemba could go a million lite yrs and never get it.

Lin needs his own team to run. He will do these same things w other brilliant high iq bb players around him .
What we saw out of Batum . Lee. Lamb . cody . was a brilliant display of bb.

  • TTNN

no, this helped Marvs, they might be able to keep Parsons for a slightly cheaper price……. than Max

  • Thank you. Interesting, I wonder why his username has BrooklynNets in it
It must be weird being a Hornets fan like him/her and Brandon Simmons who watched Kemba finally excelled this year but it still took JLin’s performance to beat tough teams like the Cavs and the Spurs.

I honestly think most Hornets fans can’t think of Kemba/Lin backcourt together because Clifford didn’t try it from the very beginning. It might be too late since the Hornets are set on Kemba/Batum/Lee lineup for now.

Good basketball fans know that a small PG can’t really excel in tight situations, his opinion was legit and this is not a take away from Kemba,he’s a good basketball player but really small to become a starting PG,he can get away from few mediocre teams but not with legit teams, with his style of basketball he will just dragged his team down during playoff.Players like Kemba are more suitable as a 6th man since he shoots a lot and not necessarily needs to defend much because he will go against the 2nd unit of the other team.

  • Lin played well, and I hope that his new shot is here to stay.

As anti-Kemba as people are around here, he’s still a good player. It will be important for him to play strong games. I wish there were a way for Lin to lead the team in playing team-ball (w/Lin’s court vision, penetration, and dishing), AND Kemba could also pick up the load at times with his strong finishes and scoring.

From everything I can see, Lin and Kemba genuinely like each other, which is why I have hope that this could happen.

  • HVJoy

I second your shoutout. A sincere THANK YOU to mods and posters who take time to share so many images of Lin here tirelessly after each game. These “goodies” make this site even more appealing.

  • khomphuong2

I like Kemba . Kemba seems to be a nice guy . He could be an axx like the rest of fake nba allstar craps, but he is not. Not sure why so many Lin fans hating on him .

  • GameWatcher

Not having high hope for the NETS game. B2B game and back treatment at 2am…

  • LAJane

Big Thanks and Big Love to you all!!!

  • Lefon Jang

If Kemba is not on the same team with Lin I’d probably like him more. I don’t hate on the guy just the way he looked the other way on the court with Lin. Kemba has to be jealous and threatened by Lin’s popularity. Lin’s touches could easily go up by 30% if Kemba is a willing passer. On top of that, he passed out on Lin many times when Lin’s open or on a fast break. (Lamb however is a player that I hate with a passion!)

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Too late for your hope, Lin will do his best now and will be gone in July.

  • blubell

Awwe. Thank you but it’s a team effort. Everyone pitched in πŸ™‚

  • LAJane

Yikes…yes, the back treatment at 2am. Modern therapies and JL’s iron will – do your magic! We’re sending a tsunami of good healing vibes your way!

  • cdblue10

I don’t want to be negative but if Lin isn’t a player he is,with the way they used him,he’s already gone to the sewer as a player. If kemba was really sincere to be a team player he should have passed a lot of open looks for Lin.I’m not taking away your objective view as being a fan but it’s just too much of coincidences for a certain player to be iced out in a lot of situations.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

It would be so good but Cliff would be fire.

  • sws94

Really, Andrew, the Kemba/Lin chemistry is a big disappointment not to develop. While I think it is mostly on the Kemba side, I’m biased. Kemba simply doesn’t seem to know how to play off of Lin though he’s kind of figured out how to do it with Batum. I think Lin needed to have more a ignore Kemba sometimes and set things up type of attitude for Kemba to get it. Otherwise, Kemba goes into what he knows which is Kembaball. The two could have made a very dynamic duo but still there is Kemba’s defensive issues and Clifford not being able to put Lin on the tough point guards while Kemba guards the 2 guards. The size difference is even greater with Kemba who lacks Lin’s body bulk to wall guys off.

I just hope for around 14 plus tonight with a big bucket or 2 in the 4th and shooting around 45 percent or better. I’m hoping not for a 1-9, 1-4 FT type of night. We can only hope, everything else is out of our hands. And root for him to do well. Still, truly ecstatic over what he did last night on national TV against a great team.

  • cdblue10

Pray that Hornets will keep Batum,Lin,Lee and Marvin and trade Kemba for a center or PF and they have a legitimate run in the East.

    the earth trembles.

j/k, well, maybe my hope is ill-founded because I don’t watch the games. I stick with play-by-play and reports here.

  • I saw Zootopia the other night. The message of the movie really is one of the things that Lin preaches: to not give up on your dreams, to not give up, and to not let others define you. Lin might have related to the hardships that Hops went through. It really felt like a Jeremy Lin style movie.

  • No, skill-wise only JLIn’s defense is better but for PG and shooting, Nash was still better and more consistent at his peak because he was in the perfect MDA system which was very PG-centric.

Shooting-wise, Nash was in the 50-40-90 club (FG%-3FG%-FT%) for 4 seasons so it was very hard to do.
But I have not doubt JLin can accomplish that because this season he had 46-42-82 in 11 games as a starter (only 1 as true PG in the Cavs game)

We can only compare with Nash if JLin is the main ball-handling PG for the whole season.
Let’s hope & pray he gets a chance next season!

  • That’s an understatement for sure LOL

  • CJSHYY

    Hawks will play, right?

  • KHuang

That was the case LONG AGO.

  • KHuang

    Disagree.

Lin can carry a bad team in a way Nash never could.

  • DX

He isn’t on injury list for sure.

  • KHuang

    Completely disagree.

If Kemba was so great, why do the Hornets keep needing Lin to save them from massive starter deficits?

  • KHuang

Small PGs can win titles and excel.

    See Tony Parker, Stephen Curry.

  • add KHuang to the list…

  • KHuang

    Doesn’t mean anything.

Spurs don’t want Lin at any price.

  • It was a HOPE, KHuang! a hope!

But if you look below, everybody agrees with you that a Lin-Kemba combo is not going to happen.

  • John Focker

Kemba’s greatest setback as a starting PG is not his height, but his lack of court vision, refusal to play D, and me-first stat-padding mentality.

  • TTNN

does not look real. he was high fiving with his teammates with the ball stick to his hand, no way that happens without notice.

  • NONONO

They should sit KW too. he has not been effective. Clifford needs to know that resting KW one or two games would not hurt his all-star chance next year.

  • TTNN

No, Kemba knows how to play with Lin. That Toronto game when Batum was out, those two played well. And Kemba played perfectly together with Lin.

But I don’t think Kemba want to play that way…… unless he is begged by his coach…….

  • cdblue10

    TONY PARKER 6’2,STEPHEN CURRY 6’3,KEMBA NBA SAID HE’S 6’0 …BUT HE LOOKS LIKE 5 ’11 FOR ME.

  • Stephanie is always ready to follow the narrative of the FO, even it makes a little sense.

That tells me Kemba/Lee would be featured tonight

  • cdblue10

I haven’t seen any starting PG won a championship with the same height as Kemba. The closest was Iverson but plays like he’s from another planet on his prime.

  • GoJLin!

Zeller Layup Shot: Made (6 PTS) Assist: Lin (2 AST); after JLIN’s 3pt shot!

  • sws94

There ya go, 3 ball yes.

  • LinMad

did u see that flick of the wrist to Zeller? That looked crazy

  • Joe what do you know

    Lamb the jumping gazelle…

  • cdblue10

    he’s logging almost 12 mins now,what changed?MJ/Nelly?

  • blubell
  • Alain Gervais

Shot cam back. Also confidence wise he is back.

  • LAJane

Heck, Charlotte could use him πŸ™‚

  • sws94

    Kemba hit a wall.

  • Alain Gervais

    That as well

  • LinMad

    most teams could use him

  • Alain Gervais

    lol

  • Linzen

    Robin’s the man!

  • sws94

    Lin ha 9 pts. now?

  • Joe what do you know

    Oh yeah bro. You bet!

  • Alain Gervais

My one problem with charlotte is they don’t blow out teams they should

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Glad he took more shots now.

  • cdblue10

That’s Cliff fault in playing him 38-40mis. a game, well it’s time to reflect

  • cdblue10

    Agree

  • LinMad

MJ said “Players can get you fired, but I can do it now.”

  • NONONO

4 staring guards from both teams combined 7 pts < Lin 9pts

  • LAJane

OK Lin and Walker in together…will Lin help him out of his slump, or will he get in Jeremy’s way…or, miraculously, will they do well together?

  • LinMad

Lin will help spread the floor but that doesn’t mean Kemba will score.

  • Lefon Jang

    Lin out

  • LinMad

I guess Cliff is reverting back to his old ways

  • your son’s voltaire

    poetic!

  • cdblue10

    Ba3ruuum

  • Alain Gervais

Kilpatrick got hot because of Lamb.

  • blubell
  • Lefon Jang

Probably it’s good to rest him now. It’s only the first half.

  • your son’s voltaire

Tank in the 1st unit takes a few shots away from kemba. lol

  • LinMad

    ya i agree with that.

  • sws94

I think it was time to rest him.

  • LinMad

the ball moved like it had magnetic powers

  • Linzen

Got to go. Have fun guys & gals. GO LIN GO!

  • your son’s voltaire

was trying to listen to Robin’s show yesterday after the big game but he had a day off. looking forward to his show tonight!

  • LAJane

    Rest that 2am sore back.

  • BobbyH

No, no, no. It is long leash that is back. The confidence is always there.

  • LinMad

    Kemba can’t get anything down

  • LinMad

    ugh bad foul.

  • I wonder what is going on with Kemba.
    0-5 in 16 min

My guess is the fatigue started the missed shots then losing confidence

  • BobbyH

    Nets plays badly.

  • Rick Johnson

Cliff has been overworking him all season. Catching up with him. GSW know how to manage Cury’s minutes

  • cdblue10

I hope that makes him going

  • LinMad

He will still end up shooting 11 shots today or more. That’s the difference between Lin’s slump and Kemba’s slump. During Lin’s slump, he rarely shot over 6 times a game so he didn’t have the touches to get out of the slump.

  • Rick Johnson

Yeah Kemba. Hope that gets him back in the groove.

  • CJSHYY

He looked unhappy to me… just walked by himself to the lockers room…

  • LinMad

True, and also since teams focus on Kemba more now cause they know Cliff loves to use him, he’ll have a harder time scoring on top of being overworked. They will defend Kemba harder.

  • Lefon Jang

Lin’s slump has a lot to do with Kemba playing well

  • LinMad

and the coach. I think they both can play well together if Kemba stops being selfish and coach calls some plays for Lin too.

  • Lefon Jang

It’s good to bring Kemba down to earth. That way everybody is happy!

  • blubell
  • LinMad

ya I think Batum likes playing with Lin more than Kemba.

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • real-dsb

Jeremy has moved on, but the New York media has not

  • LinMad

i hope its not bc of Lin

  • CJSHYY

NY media just love Lin & I think he’s right no comment on Amare/Melo fight.

  • LinMad

they asked if Lin was down to join the Knicks again lol didn’t Lin try to last off season and Dolan said not interested? The bigger question is if Dolan is ok with it

  • your son’s voltaire

good neutral response by Lin on the whole mess. he didn’t fan the fire but he didn’t exactly deny the rift either

  • CJSHYY

Did you see the guy who run to him (I think it’s Lin…?) but Kemba just walked along to lockers room…..

  • your son’s voltaire

that was an excellent move by Lin in the off season because it shows that he’s forgiven them and it also shows in my opinion that they never wanted him back in the first place. they (Dolan and Melo’s agents) planned the whole thing when they said they’d match whatever contract he’d get but didn’t and blamed him for it

  • NONONO

i cannot believe all these teams have so much money and so poor records, why cannot they make hart time recreation less boring.

  • Briiick

Lin was allowed to take most shots by the half time, not bad !

  • Win

Saw this post at Real GM Hornets forum. Wonder what happen?

    2k15 wrote:

kemba looks downtrodden, no excitement from finishing that shot, wonder whats up

He unfollowed the Hornets twitter page two days ago. Something is up.

  • blubell
  • your son’s voltaire

i don’t think kemba likes to play with Tank cause he takes more shots than Zeller

  • Win

    Then this.

I’m also wondering what happened with him, i saw no excitement after that clutch layup.

  • Briiick

    Nelly ?

  • Alain Gervais

Don’t believe this. Theres a controversy for LEbron unfollowing the Cavs twitter. Seems made up

  • Win

The biggest surprise is Kemba nfollowed the Hornets twitter page

  • Win

But Kemba did look no emotion at all after the buzzer beater.

  • NONONO

Can BKN swap their two starting guards (2pts) with Lin?

  • Alain Gervais

The guard who had 14 points should be playing. Just bad coaching

  • LAJane

OK now Kembas matched Lin in points and they have a comfortable lead, so don’t know how much more PT Jeremy will get in this game.

  • Alain Gervais

Get some actual sources before you believe anything. Was it reported by anyone. Lebron one was

  • Lefon Jang

    I say 25 mins

  • cshot

lol almost all the time i start watching, kemba picks it up haha. maybe i should just stick to watching highlights haha. i want more jeremy!!! haha props to kemba for getting back into tho

  • LAJane

about 10 mins in the second half…seems like a reasonable estimate. Hope it’s that much πŸ™‚

  • sws94

    Could be a bit more.

  • Lefon Jang

if it’s a close game Lin might close out

  • Lefon Jang

    Frank shoots too many 3s

  • kauaiblue

Can this game be any more boring? Man, these teams r bad!

  • Win

I am not sure if I want to see Lin play in Brooklyn. The team looks disconnected

  • LinMad

see, KW took 11 shots. That’s the difference between Lin staying in his slump taking 3-6 shots per game and Kemba in his slump but getting the chance to crawl out by shooting a lot.

  • LinMad

Lin is the glue guy, he can organize them.

  • sws94

I’m sure. I don’t want him going there.

  • your son’s voltaire

that’s why starting is so important to every player

  • LinMad

    yep

  • Win

Hey SWS. You saw my post yesterday about tell another poster that you are a true Lin’s fan?

    πŸ™‚

  • LinMad

lol that was wrestling on Cody

  • Win

I meant I was telling another poster here that you are a true Lin’s fan.

  • your son’s voltaire

i still smh at those who said “it doesn’t matter if he starts or not as long as he finishes”.. well, if he doesn’t start, he doesn’t get a chance to get out of a slump, and his chances of finishing is slim

  • kauaiblue

    Wheres jlin??

  • Lefon Jang

    coming in

  • kauaiblue

    Finally!

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin in

  • Lefon Jang

Lin in for Lee, Spurs game he’s in for Kemba. There’s a difference!

  • Alain Gervais

    Who is guarding larkin

  • LinMad

time to unleash Lin. Sit Kemba.

  • cdblue10

Ok time to let Lin work the PG duty

  • kauaiblue

    I hope not jlin…

  • NONONO

KW sill on the court?? for what?

  • cshot

    kemba stay on your man

  • kauaiblue

I heard hes not happy… what a sulker!

  • Alain Gervais

No he is guarding Kilpatrick. its Kemba’s man

  • cshot

    stat pad

  • NONONO

LIN,LEE,LAMB,BATOM,CODY can win this game easily

  • kauaiblue

He is incapable of playing d…

  • LinMad

when lin shoots bad, he puts all his effort on defense. When KW shoots bad, he just gives up on D.

  • james brown

some here doesn’t understand the mechanics the coaches think…He has the last word who is going to get the ball and have the ball on every game.

  • sws94

    Don’t like the Barclay’s time-out entertainment.

  • cdblue10

    Where’s MW?

  • cshot

    out today

  • sws94

    Hurt his ankle. Out tonight.

  • NONONO

  • LinMad

Hawes why you force it? Pass to Lin

  • kauaiblue

    That was a foul!

  • cdblue10

Now the game is more entertaining

  • LinMad

Let Lin be PG with Lee at SG

  • kauaiblue

    What was that?

  • Singapore BB Fan

what happened to the huge lead? evaporated?

  • stam

    a racist noncall.

  • cdblue10

    yeah,starters lost it.

  • cshot

  • NONONO

Clifford wants to prove they can win with ineffective KW

  • heart

  • Alain Gervais

    22222222

  • LinMad

Lin scores on a 7 footer lol

  • cdblue10

Kemba is just a lazy player

  • kauaiblue

    Hawes.. oh boy

    This team loves close games

  • Singapore BB Fan

    its hurting JLIN +/-

  • kauaiblue

    That was awesome!

  • cshot

    that pump fake lol

  • NONONO

KW’s offence is bad as his defense now

  • sws94

Lin should have gotten a +1

  • cdblue10

    yep

  • LinMad

    KW, Lin and Lee

  • spiderman

    more excitement that way

  • your son’s voltaire

what did he do? in the CLE game, their announcers called him a fake tough guy

  • Lefon Jang

    Lin fouled

  • blubell
  • cdblue10

    Linsanity at it’s finest

  • LinMad

That was a hard obvious foul. Lin only gets those calls 50% of the time.

  • Lefon Jang

    that’s a good one!

  • heart

Cliff subbed Lin in late. Now they’re playing under pressure.

  • LinMad

Lin has a lot of fans

  • Lefon Jang

    nice pass to lee

  • cdblue10

    that’s the double L connection

  • LinMad

  • sws94

    Lin’s D.

  • LinMad

I knew KW would force that

  • cdblue10

I want the winning shot too!!!!

  • sws94

    Terrible play

  • Alain Gervais

    Kemba struggling 4-13 9 points

  • NONONO

KW ignored wide open LIN who was asking for the ball

  • cshot

    anything new?

  • Epie

    Nothing new

  • LinMad

Time to sit Kemba he has 29 minutes and 9 pts

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

Who did he give it to instead?

  • cshot

  • stam

LOl hawes when he missed his shot off the backboard.

  • cdblue10

    lol

  • kauaiblue

    guess what the result was!

  • LinMad

that’s t he difference between Lin being PG and KW being PG. Lin is a more willing passer. Doesn’t matter who you are. Lin will pass to Lee, Lamb, Hawes and even Tyler Hansbrough.

  • Joe what do you know

He gave it to the Nets for a block….

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

    Funny

  • LinMad

he gave it to the Nets who blocked it

  • NONONO

Lin said so many good things about KW in the post game interview yesterday. Did he see something we did not see?

  • your son’s voltaire

horrible point guard. doesn’t help the team at all. he should be the team’s scoring 6th man

  • cdblue10

    Wow that’s a tough call

  • kauaiblue

It’s more fun to play with Jlin and to watch!

  • LinMad

that was good D by Batum, wth refs

  • Joe what do you know

  • cdblue10

Lin is just toying the Nets…..LOL

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin in full pg mode

  • sws94

    Lin is playing fantastic basketball.

  • LinMad

BOOM THE BALL MOVES SO MUCH BETTER WHEN LIN IS RUNNING THE POINT

  • kauaiblue

This is so fun to watch!

    16 pts 4 assist

  • NONONO

    Hornets is alive again after…

  • Epie

Finally it looks like basketball, Thank you Lin!

  • zxcvb

Kemba is cold again tonight, so Lin is being allowed to play and touch the ball.

Lin is elite all-round when given the damn ball.

  • sws94

Lin didn’t panic in that time clock down, and good awareness by Hawes to get it to Al who didn’t mess it up and converted.

  • cshot

freaking beautiful plays when lin is pg

  • stam

Lin keeps getting hit in the face and not getting calls though.. this is bs.

  • james brown

good play by the true PG!

  • Larkin passed by Lin then Lin got mad then led 9-2 run πŸ˜€

  • your son’s voltaire

he’s just trying to avoid the melo/kobe incidences

  • sws94

I’m beginning to think that the post-ASB hot streak is now for Lin. Just like I was hoping.

  • LinMad

How does the Hornets FO not let Lin play PG more? They snoozing instead of taking notes

  • LAJane

I can only follow the play-by-play, so not seeing the action. Does it look like the Nets have tried to load up on Jeremy? Successfully at all? Or is he getting around the obstacles.

  • LinMad

Another wrestling move by the Nets to take down Lin.

  • cdblue10

    getting around

  • Lefon Jang

no double team, just one on one

  • sws94

At times, but Lin is eluding everyone. Really running the offense beautifully now.

  • LAJane

Lin never panics. It’s part of why we love him…Mr. Ice In The Veins. Tag Heuer loves it too πŸ™‚

  • LinMad

Pay back by Lin, Lin has muscles now so he can give it back lol

  • Joe what do you know

They tried a couple of times, with no success…. Lin has smarten up a lot vs double teams

  • Lefon Jang

    Free throws

  • zxcvb

He’s getting hammered and still beasting. If that were Curry or Harden, he’d have 8 FTs at least with a couple of reviews for flagrant calls.

  • LinMad

    free throws

  • stam

I hope his elbow is ok from that fall though

  • Rick Johnson

Is the Nets new GM Marks there scouting Lin?

  • cdblue10

    It’s Lin’s house….LOL

  • LAJane

Thanks everybody. Maybe everybody is going to be singing Pop’s tune “He’s unstoppable”

  • zxcvb

    I hope so!

  • stam

    Love how jefferson supports lin.

  • KWC

That Lin->Al->Lin play works pretty well.

  • Lefon Jang

    333333333

  • zxcvb

This game may be more important for “scouting” than last night.

  • LinMad

Nets did not follow the keys to the game, stop Linsanity

  • blubell

Nets can’t stop talking about Jeremy lol

  • Alain Gervais

    22222222 foot on Line

  • LinMad

  • JoeTeam

Al’s doing something different … he’s posting up away from the basket, and looking for an inside pass to JLin.

  • Alain Gervais

Mr. 4th quarter omg they said it

  • CaliUSMC

omg… my stream is so slow.. but lin got a steal and a jumper?!

  • LAJane

Miss the 2nd free throw? OK, then how about a quick jumper!

  • zxcvb

Being told to pump him up for FREE AGENCY??? Hehe, I hope…

  • cdblue10

    Yep

  • LinMad

    they want him next season

  • Epie

He’s trying to fit into Lin’s system, I think.

  • JoeTeam

he he, long 2. who’s complaining?

  • zxcvb

Toe on the line! Classic Lin.

  • sws94

Lin, you had a 3 there. But swish.

  • Alain Gervais

    1st time all year.

  • LinMad

I’m starting to like him more cause he can pass

  • cdblue10

    LOL.Houston days

  • Briiick

Lin hit a 3 turned 2, and KW bumped into him to celebrate. I like it !

  • sws94

    That’s what he did!

  • NONONO

if lin not getting hair cut, will we see lin has pony tail in playoffs?

  • LAJane

    Exactly!

  • sport

Lin still playing heavy minutes as PG and beasting? What’s going on with Hornets FO?! If they’re making their pitch now it’s too little too late but I’d take it!

    Nets are getting frustrated.

  • blubell
  • LAJane

Haha. I think he has to make a turnover now and then so they won’t hate him πŸ™‚

  • LinMad

thanks to Lin drawing previous fouls, KW gets to shoot

  • zxcvb

Took Cliff 70 games to see that play call.

  • sport

He reciprocating all the passes Lin’s given him, Al genuinely likes Lin.

  • LAJane

    Vet knows game.

  • sport

Nope I bet something’s up with FO, Lamb and Lin both got unleashed last game, question is who said something, hopefully MJ.

  • heart

Have to see replay video that to see if someone has their out too far and tripped him…

  • zxcvb

Lin should have 8-10 FTs. He’s been raked and punched and grabbed all night.

  • cdblue10

Now it’s difficult to guard Al since he’s always looking to pass first

  • stam

    Lin just has amazing defense…

  • LinMad

Lin cuts even though he knows he’s not getting the ball just to draw some attention away from Al

  • LAJane

Yes. However, the truth is he’s Mr. Every Quarter when allowed.

    battle of the posts

  • JoeTeam

  • NONONO

  • LinMad

omg why turnover at this time

  • stam

He’s always fouled man he’d have like 1 turn over less per game if he actually got the calls he deserves.

As we can see Kemba wasn’t happy he was 0-5, and after he made the layup at buzzer he went straight to the locker room. At the start of 3rd quarter Kemba was feeling it and made 3 straight shots to bring him to 9 points. Then Kemba had the control of the ball and the game slow down. He missed 4 in a roll and Nets slowly gained until Nets got the lead. That’s when 4th quarter rolls around and Jeremy Lin not only scored and again, but also revitalize his teammates for the lead again.

  • Alain Gervais

    Batu

  • stam

Lin’s talent is being wasted with walker being PG.

  • cdblue10

    Ba3ruuummm is killin it now

  • Alain Gervais

    These refs

  • LinMad

Lin looks frustrated or confused when KW has th eball

  • CaliUSMC

    that was nice.

  • sws94

    Fantastic pass, Batum.

  • kauaiblue

What is this? just don’t give him the ball at all anymore?

  • Maknusia

    contagious!

  • kauaiblue

    It’s so obvious!

  • Rick Johnson

At lease Cliff leaves Lin to close instead of Lee. If he was really smart he’d bring Lee in and let Walker sit.

  • Alain Gervais

The play wasn’t set up right. Batum hit the shot

  • cdblue10

But referres are keeping them at bay

  • Lefon Jang

at least 10 possessions without touches

  • Win

Nets is getting all the calls.

  • sport

Batum going iso now can’t let Lin be lead scorer two games in a row.

  • LinMad

This is the “Don’t pass to Lin cause I need mines” period

  • stam

Lin is being iced out completely..

  • kauaiblue

    again…

  • Epie

I think he’s trying to stop the ball going to Kemba

  • JoeTeam

no no, he’s bailing CHA out. KW is not working Lin into the offense, so that’s all we have now to close out the game. Go Batum!

  • sport

Lin needs to grab some rebounds to get some shots cause he’s iced out.

  • LinMad

ofc Lin loses the sprite of the night to Batum

  • vincent

lmao lin is being iced out 100 percent what is wrong with this team

  • cdblue10

    I like his game

  • JoeTeam

he’s been big since KW iced Lin.

  • NONONO

Lin + Lee = 46 pts and playing great D last night , now lee is on the bench. Clifford??????

  • vincent

lin has two options mda or greg popp theres no other coach he can go to

  • CaliUSMC

    cmon Lin 1 more pointtttttttttt

  • your son’s voltaire

they have a comfortable lead so they don’t need him anymore. need to pad their own stats now

  • Maknusia

    Nets is catching up

  • LinMad

Lin touches the ball after 10 possessions and he gives it to an open Frank. THat’s real PG right there.

  • Rick Johnson

Can’t they do something about Lopez? Geez

  • Batum is getting the ball due to hot hands.
Hope Lin is ready to drive or drain his shots

  • zxcvb

Not good basketball but he’s hitting them.

  • LAJane

Look at this. Nets might pull it out.

  • Maknusia

    One pt game! sigh!

  • Alain Gervais

    Too much iso late

  • zxcvb

This is why you need Lin Ball. Game still close.

  • LinMad

we’re going to get rolled over

  • Lefon Jang

at least Lin is not stuck at the corner. He finds way to leak out.

  • Maknusia

    timeout pls!

  • cdblue10

    OT

  • JLin Fan from Australia

If iso continues, Hornets is going to lose the game.

  • KWC

    Kilpatrick looks really good

  • vincent

great kemba walker is the hero of the game

  • LinMad

this is a coaching disaster. Should have left Kemba on the bench like last game.

  • zxcvb

Lin needs to be allowed to lead. This game should be a blowout. And it was looking that way with Lin in charge.

Batum is red hot but they still can’t shake the friggin’ Nets!

  • Rick Johnson

Walker is limping. Let him sit Cliff!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

That’s the problem of Kemba and Batum. They can’t make the right play.

  • Alain Gervais

Nets are really focused on Lin

  • zxcvb

They play for themselves. Even when they’re hot, they barely win.

  • vincent

ok batum is hot, but man lin didnt touch the ball for the last 12 possessions. the guy who beat the spurs singlehandedly and got the lead for the team… smh

  • Singapore BB Fan

Nets winning strategy #3 Stop Linsanity

Cliff has mistaken that strategy and used it on the Hornets.

  • LinMad

that was the same thing that hapened during the Nuggets game I think. Batum was hot, but without Kemba’s defense they were just trading buckets.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Either it’s tie or OT.

  • Epie

    I think that’s Cliff’s strategy not Nets

  • golfhacker

He’s the hero for the Nets.

  • sport

This is what you get what Batum and Kemba ices out Lin towards the end.

  • JoeTeam

I’d say on this series, Batum did ok only missed one key shot after isoing for seconds. He did ok until that one, had to try it because he was hot.

  • LinMad

Cliff crossed out one of the keys to the game but it was on Nets list

  • zxcvb

Lin has handled the ball once in 7m.

  • kauaiblue

    Clifford is helping the nets…

  • sws94

    Lin is finishing this game.

  • Lefon Jang

    that’s cody’s rebound Kemba!

  • LinMad

I blame it more on the coach and Kemba for feeding Batum over and over instead of making it more diverse.

  • vincent

damnit why couldnt lin get that rebound lol

  • stam

if lin was the PG… they would have put this game away

  • GameWatcher

Batum having the hot hand and having the green light makes sense.

  • JJ Hui

What is new for KW? If Lin pg all 4th quarter, it won’t come to this point!

  • james brown

Lin has his stats now..so hes giving others the chance!

  • vincent

i feel like batum doesnt ignore lin only kemba does

  • Lefon Jang

    what a shot by Lopez!

  • zxcvb

    Not when the lead shrinks.

  • cdblue10

    yep

  • kauaiblue

it’s over… glad for the win with jlin with the charge!

  • CaliUSMC

    No he needs 20

  • kauaiblue

    Get to 20!

  • Alain Gervais

Nets played the last 30 seconds terribly. no wonder they lose

  • KWC

    Dumb shot

  • Lefon Jang

    20

  • Win

    No Nets for Lin IMO

  • Maknusia

    your wish came true!

  • Win

    They are like the Lakers

  • Singapore BB Fan

Lin shall have the last say…

  • CaliUSMC

    Ok he got 20. GG

  • zxcvb

YES Nets for Lin! They need him. No 1st rd picks, no free agent PG wants to go there.

  • LAJane

Hornets very lucky the Nets couldn’t rise to the clutch end. Could easily have gone the other way with J on ice.

  • BobbyH

    Not if MDA goes there.

  • blubell

    Made both

  • KWC

Looks like Nets want Kilpatrick long term.

  • Win

    30+ Mins too! πŸ™‚

  • LinMad

Cliff happy Batum is leading scorer. He got it done.

  • Win

    Sixth Man of the year!!!

  • zxcvb

Yawn. Lead shrank with him “hot.” Lin was the MVP again. Offense and defense.

  • cdblue10

    and MIP

  • Lefon Jang

    No OT

  • kauaiblue

JLin 20 with limited oppt. good, except for the limited oppt.

  • LAJane

Poor Kemba. Prolly thought he was going to be rewarded with the closing hero FTs. Lin instead.

  • vincent

lol i love how batum desperately grabbed that rebound from lin knowing they would foul him

  • LinMad

Cliff can’t have a $2M player off the bench as lead scorer twice in a row lol

  • kauaiblue

    Starter next year… all star!

  • Weifang

somehow I believe someone like MJ talked…

  • Lefon Jang

    30 mins! I was wrong with 25

  • stam

damn wish Lin caught that rebound lol

  • kauaiblue

Jlin is a class act… great response to carmelo anthony comment…

  • LAJane

    Yeah….we were both wrong. Great!

  • Singapore BB Fan

    Silent assassin…

  • kauaiblue

    that’s ok… don’t need to exert energy now…

  • Maknusia

    quite a few predicted 15mins! πŸ™‚

  • Epie

    GJ Lin!

  • kauaiblue

of course not, don’t forget the 2 million dollar asian man!

  • CaliUSMC

    Atlanta-Boston-Charlotte tied for 4th

  • Rick Johnson

That was a lot closer than it needed to be. Hornets had 10pt lead and momentum until Walker came in. Another 2 minutes of Lin w/o Walker the game would have been iced and Gutierrez would have been closing the game at PG

  • zxcvb

Lin is still ESPN’s “Top Performer” for similar production in fewer minutes.

  • NONONO

    Lin stays BNK please

  • LAJane

    lol

  • stam

Whose the player of the game for hornets?

  • BobbyH

    What a ugly win.

  • sport

Nah Batum and Walker’s ego couldn’t’ take Lin taking the highest score for past 2 games. A times like these I wish Lin would have similar mind set to look out for his own stats. It’s ok to go iso once in a while.

  • zxcvb

    BROOK-LIN NETS in 2016-17.

  • Singapore BB Fan

    Kemba? No…?

  • cshot

    prolly nic

  • Epie

    Batum with 0 TO!

  • kauaiblue

walker is not a good pg… he’s a good microwave type player supporting a guy like jlin…

  • Alain Gervais

Batum was. He got hot late

  • Maknusia

sometimes…its good to be wrong πŸ™‚

  • stam

too much icing out for lin at the end. Lin should have been given at least 6 free throws more.

  • vincent

somehow lin has the lowest plus minus on the team… how is that possible

  • JoeTeam

no far from Heat too, so 4 teams at 3rd/4th

  • blueCypher

    What did he say ?

  • LAJane

    Hear hear!

  • sws94

So, that’s 3 in a row. Lin had great energy in this game and played really well. Good to see him back finishing. And it’s a good idea to run both Lee and Lin into the closing lineup when possible. And good to see Lin make those 2 clutch FTs. He missed some today, but not the clutch ones. Keep it rolling, JLin.

  • Lin was trying to help Kemba getting involved so he can learn to finish together.
    But Batum got hot πŸ™‚

  • kauaiblue

Not when JLin was in charge… it was beautiful to watch for a few minutes there…

  • Epie

    Kemba happened

  • golfhacker

    No. Don’t trust the coach.

  • sport

Lin should’ve went up to his teammates and asked for the ball.

  • zxcvb

Lead shrank when he was watching Batum and Kemba run the offense.

  • kauaiblue

now, that would be awesome… they can make the necessary changes to build around our boy…

  • blubell
  • sws94

Yeah, probably Batum. Not by that much. First it looked like Frank, possibly Lin but Batum overall is.

  • stam

Yep the clutch ones are the best… shows he’s a stone cold shooter.

  • heart

Lin performs best when he’s playing under pressure. You noticed each time when the scores are down Lin rises up when he’s allowed to be involved in the offense. That’s when true leadership trait and talents shine.

  • vincent

lin’s picked up with the momentum that he got from the denver game and he’s run with it

  • sport

JUst saw how the anouncers were raving about their new extension, Brooklin already has their rising star it seems. I can firmly say no to Nets now.

  • gasparthe2nd

Jlin is an intelligent PG who can lead any decent team to the playoffs. 21 pts! You’ve done it again Hero man.

  • LAJane

That’s a nice thought. Could be true…but Kemba’s had most of a season to figure that out and hasn’t been able to. Jeremy is the BEST teammate.

  • Singapore BB Fan

JLin said “None of my business. I am staying out of it. Its between Amare and Melo”

  • LinMad

    i thought it’s 20

  • cdblue10

    Nice game guys!!!!

  • blubell
  • sws94

    21. Had 19 and then hit the 2 clutch FTs

  • Maknusia

thats the reason…many dont use +/- to rate a player in a game

  • zxcvb

Last week, Lin was rattling jumpers in-and-out. I thought that was a good sign despite misses.
This week, Lin is rattling jumpers in-and-out…and back in! Good sign indeed.

  • LAJane

Those last FTs made it 21.

  • Alain Gervais

Brooklyn is a badly coached team. Do not want Lin going there. Iso Lopez late

  • kauaiblue

Reporters asked him about stoudemire comment that implied that anthony was not happy during linsanity… when a reporter asked jlin about it, he just said he didn’t want to speculate on what someone was thinking and that hes “fine” with anthony… just moving on… cool

  • LinMad

ok my box score was not updated lol

  • kauaiblue

    nice.

  • vincent

would you guys rather see lin playing under mda or pop?

  • cdblue10

    Both

  • Win

    Couldn’t agree more

  • zxcvb

??? Tony Brown ain’t gonna be coaching next season. Just interim.

  • blubell
  • sws94

Not a good team. Kilpatrick has potential and Hollis Jefferson, but they have a ways to go.

  • LinMad

pop cause Spurs are championship contenders

  • cshot

mda. is that even a question? lol

  • kauaiblue

    MDA!

  • Maknusia

Not forgetting AJ…he did great as well

  • Alain Gervais

    Yup

  • blubell
  • Alain Gervais

It better be a prospect coach.

  • gasparthe2nd

under MdA, but Pop will do.

  • blubell
  • Win

Yup. Either 76ers or Spurs or a super sixth man that allow to play PG and avg 30 mins a game in Hornets.

  • sport

MDA, Pop already has his favorite stars, he might not give Lin starting role. Not to metnion MDA is best at PNR and that’s Lin’s best skill.

  • zxcvb

MDA cuz he trusts Lin. Pop is a legend, but Lin is not “his guy.”

  • vincent

true, my fav tem is the spurs tho so it would be nice to only have to root for one team lol

  • Singapore BB Fan

Lin is getting better each game… well done!

  • JoeTeam

heh heh, where’s the back-to-back narrative now !

  • cshot

extremely valid point haha! i feel you

  • zxcvb

It’s unclear who it’ll be. Ettore Messina? Dave Blatt? MDA? Someone else?

Nets want to emulate Spurs. That’s why they hired Sean Marks despite his youth.

  • kauaiblue

    Nice game JLin!

  • Win

Lin = Sixth Man of the Year! Go Lin!!!

  • LinMad

Game shouldn’t have been so close. If Lin was starting PG or got to play PG longer, we would have blown this team away. Nets are not good.

  • Maknusia

you sure…even he gets less than 15mins? Its really tough to get into a championship team, when they have the players stacked and with seniors

  • Lin is definitely the ULTIMATE teammate πŸ™‚
If they get the dynamics going, they can do some damage in the playoff

  • Rick Johnson

Next years contract value going up with each game. Nice.

  • kauaiblue

jlin is the leader… you follow him… you WIN…

  • Rick Johnson

    Exactly.

  • BobbyH

yep, except those moments when Lin played PG.

  • sport

Lin finally gets to play more as PG and get consisten minutes for last 2 games. Someone in FO spoke up, wonder who. I hope it was MJ so this can continue. This team would be perfect if Kemba was the one off the bench instead.

  • Win

And one most important fact, Lin actually looks happy. A lot happier compare to his time with the Lakers. I am so happy for him.

  • CJSHYY

    It’s Lin not Batum. Ya!

  • kauaiblue

    It is beautiful basketball…

  • zxcvb

Once there was a 10pt lead, Batum was like, “Statpad time!” Even though he got hot, the game almost slipped away. Luckily, the Nets are terrible.

  • NONONO

NOPE. he should have been in All-Star.

  • Alain Gervais

HAs been all year. Maybe unhappy about his shot but usually happy

  • blubell
  • kauaiblue

    Nice… who is this cutie?

  • zxcvb

He’s finally getting the ball and showing what he can do. Spurs and GSW have been like All-Star teams! CHA was totally crushed and Kemba/Batum exposed until Lin saved the day. And now he shows up again despite fatigue/ankles.

  • sport

Iced out by both Batum and Kemba towards the last possessions. When that happens Lin should really look for rebounds so he can go coast to coast or stop and pop for 2s and 3s. He can also ask for the ball when checking instead of letting Kemba bring the ball up.

  • CaliUSMC

    Some early HL’s

  • sport

Kemba was also going iso mode and not passing to Lin.

  • Win

    Tks!!!

  • Sophie Paris

No Lin No Win never gets old πŸ˜‰

  • blubell
  • LinMad

lol he has a shirt of Nelly photobombing Lin

  • joyce ward
  • Rick Johnson

In the short term MDA would be fun because he’d empower Lin to run the show and it would be beautiful exciting baseball but he’d ride Lin into the ground like Secretariat. Pop knows how to keep his players playing at a high level but keep them healthy throughout the year and peak at the playoffs. Lin would also have a much longer career with Popovich. Since I’d like to watch Lin for many years to come I’d then pick Pop.

  • CJSHYY

Haha! Look at his shirt. Ya! Take more pictures now next season he will not be a Hornets anymore.

  • LAJane

Yup. However, to heck with the money. All I want for all my remaining Christmases is JLin as starting PG for a team that hands him the keys and really means it.

  • JoeTeam

    hey joyce, welcome back!

  • blubell
  • CaliUSMC

Should have been 8/9. Damn foot on the line!

  • zxcvb

It’s things like that which make me angry. They can’t even let Lin do his thing for 2 games. They have to find a way to win w/o letting him shine.

Meanwhile, those two have no problem playing 38m against Philly or Minny to score 30pts in a 20pt blowout. Pathetic franchise/culture.

  • NONONO

I see chemistry between Lin and Marvin, Lee,AL,MKG,Batum(better now),Hawes,LAMB(used to be) …. just no KW.

  • sport

Lin’s new shooting form is finally clicking hope it will continue throughout playoffs; mean while I hope Kemba’s shooting slump for last until season is over!

  • heart

    AJ also.

  • NONONO

iso style no chemistry with anyone

  • LinMad

i don’t blame Batum, he was hot. I blame Kemba for not passing it to others and making it more unpredictable. It wasn’t just Lin being iced out.

  • blubell
  • Sophie Paris

While Lin loves KW off court. Funny ^^

  • zxcvb

Just needs reps! Unless you’re Steve Novak, I don’t think anyone can shoot jumpers w/o rhythm. Even Curry gets cold unless he keeps getting good looks (which he always does).

  • blubell
  • LAJane

    Joyce! Glad to see you!

  • Rick Johnson

Gee wonder who they’re all waiting to talk to? Perhaps the Nets new starting PG next season?

    https://twitter.com/rick_bonnell/status/712461333527175168

  • LinMad

I think if Lin continues to get this many shots per game, Hornets will be top 4 in EC as I predicted early in the season.

  • zxcvb

    That hair is alive.

  • NONONO

AL+LIN chemistry in this game is good lesson for KW after Lin leave this summer.

  • cdblue10

    LOL…WOW

  • vincent

I agree. I would like to see lin with MDA for one full season then I would like lin to be a spur. Isnt that a quote that MDA himself used during linsanity? lol

  • Briiick

    333333333333333333333333333333333!

  • LinMad

they all want to talk about Linsanity

  • CJSHYY

NY media just want to talk to Lin…. LOL!

  • sport

Nets already gave a big contract to one of their new players, I doubt Lin would want to go there next season.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin is the hornets best shot at being a national talking point

  • zxcvb

Well, if he were two inches back, then maybe it would have rattled in and out!

  • Sophie Paris

    Can get that 3rd spot

  • CaliUSMC

    ???????

  • Sophie Paris

    It’s scary xD

  • CaliUSMC

Wonder what happens if Miami and Charlotte tie for 3rd.. They are tied in reg season series 2-2.

  • LinMad

yep, if FO is smart, they will try everything to keep him on the team. Hornets need him more than for wins but for publicity too.

  • Rick Johnson

Your feed lagging a little bit?

  • sport

Lin’s hair is going super saiyan since last game.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Just curious: Why it’s JLin and not Batum???

  • blubell

It will help him to get 6moty

  • LinMad

Lin’s value next year should be no less than $10 mln. If Hornets can’t afford him, oh wells. Better unload some players.

  • CaliUSMC

    Little longer HL

  • zxcvb

After their treatment of him, he’s 100% leaving unless literally no one offers him a contract.

  • heart

Lin will convert almost any players to play well w/him as long as they’re willing. Lin usually adjusts his game to them first, then eventually they return the favors eventually.

  • sport

No room for Lin unless they trade Kemba and they aren’t going to. In fact they aren’t even starting Lin as SG or PG so forget it!

  • Alain Gervais

They need him to counter balance Kemba. Lin and datum help Kemba be on a winning team.

  • cdblue10

    12-15

  • Rick Johnson

Miami playing SAS tomorrow. Hopefully an opening for CHA to slip into 3rd. They really shouldn’t have lost that game to Denver. Would be sitting pretty at 3 right now. All Cliff had to do was close with Lin instead of Walker or Lee.

  • NONONO

Would KW like to go to BKN next season – his hometown?

  • sport

MDA’s team will for sure. I hope Jerry Colangelo has watched past 2 games.

  • zxcvb

I don’t even care unless it’s a good situation (MDA or smart coach in Brooklyn/Philly).

  • NONONO

    starter first

  • Alain Gervais

I don’t think so. Lin seems happy. I think he will opt out. If they offer him enough he will come back. Unless a team offer him the starting spot and It has a good coach and nice pieces.

  • cdblue10

    of course

  • CJSHYY

    Ya! That’s what I thought.

  • zxcvb

Probably, but CHA is desperate to build around him. He’s their pick. The front office looks bad if they move him.

More likely Lin signs with Brooklyn, IMO.

  • sws94

I don’t know. I think he’ll weigh his options. Not sure why fans are so excited about next year. I get we want to see him play more at PG and such, but Lin is heating up now and will be in the playoffs and we have plenty time after that to try to get a read on where Lin is at. Right now, I think Lin’s head is on playing well down the stretch to contribute to his team getting the best seed possible and doing well in the playoffs and that’s it.

  • sport

No cause Brooklyn already gave an extension to their new guy from Hornets announcers it sounds like he’s their future.

  • zxcvb

Seems very unhappy to me. His words are always kind but you watch his body language on the court and it’s not good — unless they let him play his game. That’s not gonna happen with Kemba on the team.

A 2-game cold streak for Kemba doesn’t change that.

  • Rick Johnson

    Trade Kemba for Lopez.

  • LinMad

I hope Hornets FO know what they are losing. Next year will be disastrous. If it isn’t, it will be the 2nd year where players will start to point fingers at each other.

  • Steppen03

    Yeah!! BAM, BAM!!!
Let’s do this for the remainder of the season and into the postseason. Can’t be more happier for JL7 & Hornets!
We have to stop with KW Vs JL7 stuff tho. Let’s share the glory with everyone on team. KW is not the bad guy here – Can’t blame him, dude doesn’t want to lose his job position. Its not up to KW, it’s the Hornets FO.

  • NONONO

I guess love more important than winning. i welcome Lin to BKN, people would love him more here.

  • sws94

He was struggling but now that he’s playing well, he looks happy. And off the court he’s having fun on snapchat with his teammates.

  • Briiick

Yeah. The size of a contract reflects the PT and size of role. Without a largest contract in the back court, Lin will be marginalized no matter how he is promised or who the coach is.

  • Pete B

    I like Kemba for Knicks

  • cdblue10

If anyone plays today on Nets uniform is their future then they better jump over the Barclay center…LOL

  • NONONO

Melo + Kemba for first pick?

  • sws94

How many minutes for Lin tonight? I didn’t look at the stat sheet yet.

  • CaliUSMC

11 games left… Charlotte could potentially be 3rd in EC.. pretty nuts..

  • Bulldog

Haven’t watched the game yet. What happened to Lin’s +/- -9? Fatigue or anything?

  • LinMad

Tell coach to be fair to Lin and we won’t make this a KW vs Lin thing

  • Alain Gervais

Exactly also. I don’t think Lin has reached his highest potential at Hornets. Cliff and hornets seem willing to Lin going Insanity on other teams. Im thinking long term. In 2 year Lin with one coach and stability. Ceiling is high here. Best coach he has had since Danton. Its hard to find that. Lin knows it more ten anyone

  • CJSHYY

    I think he will.

Thats counter to every rumor and everything Lin has said himself. Lin dense hold his tongue when he is unhappy. How many proverbs have we seem. Only 1 in the whole year.

  • Steppen03

Isn’t KW is Hornets franchise player ??
    JL7 can be around $15~$20M /yr.

  • sws94

Good. Lin at 32-34 minutes is best, though he can go more if needed. At least at 26. Good to see him close the last 2 games.

  • zxcvb

Played great on both ends! There were spurts where he stood around watching Kemba/Batum run the offense and lose the lead. Fluke timing. Sometimes +/- means nothing. Sometimes it means everything.

  • CaliUSMC

They mentioned that on First Take today.. I was pretty shocked.

If anyone cares. Skip giving Lin props.

  • Rick Johnson

Kemba would be great if he would play the SG roll and let Lin set him up for easy buckets.

  • zxcvb

Super easy schedule for CHA though. The only impressive wins are Miami and obviously SAS.

  • Rick Johnson

Did they talk about Lin? Skip likes Lin.

  • CaliUSMC

Yeah I edited the post above with the linkk.

  • Win

I can’t stand some of the poster there as they keep saying Lin is a 2 millions dollar player. Lin choose to be a 2 mil player cuz he wants to pick a team that he can play team ball and his style of play. But anyway, I have asked the Mod to banned forever. I wouldn’t never wanna go back there ever again.

  • KHuang

If Walker was not playing terribly, Lin would barely have gotten 20 mpg this game.

  • CJSHYY

I believe NY media all want Lin back no matter it’s NYK or Nets…. as long as Linsanity back to NY. Haha!

  • sws94

OT. This is a bummer. Drs. give Craig Sager only 3-6 more months to live. He’s the announcer with the crazy suits and outfits for the NBA. I really like him. Sager says he’ll live much longer. That’s the spirit. Sometimes people outlive their diagnosis by quite a long time.

  • blubell
  • sport

Except Kemba is too short for SG, Lamb is miles better than him! Defenseless and low efficiency ball chuckers like KEmba should be coming off the bench like Nick Young except Nick Young actually gives more energy on the court. In a fair world where MJ and FO didn’t play politics, Lin would be PG, Lamb SG, and Batum as SF would be their big 3 with Al retiring.

  • Alain Gervais

For all the talk on Kemba i want to say would Harden or kobe allow Lin to take over the game Like Kemba did. Remember that game Lin went off then harden came in and took over. Kemba didn’t do that. Kemba has been really nice to Lin. One of the nicest guys out there. Its clearly his team and he lets other shine. Sometimes try too hard. Not really a PG mostly a short SG. A few teams are this god yet this stabile and unselfish. Houston and Lakers was not. Knicks front office is not good. Brooklyn are building and was pretty badly outreached late. Lin leaving may not be a smart thing. The ceiling for Lin in at the hornets seems high. Especially when his shot is on. Lin going to a bad rebuilding team is ok but Thats more of a risk then Him staying put and Maybe start at SG at some point. This seems more likely then him Taking a brooklyn nets to the playoffs. Its still a long shot but Lin needs to be in a stable happy situation. Hornets seem to be it. If he doesn’t get a good offer. I say stay put

  • LinMad

imo, Kemba needs to handle not being the leading scorer every game better. There is no way you can be leading scorer every game. So start passing to those who are doing well like Lin. I didn’t like how he passed to Batum so much in 4th quarter even though it helped Batum get hot when you already know that Lin was hot. That was a gamble.

  • grover chang

  • sws94

I think you’re fair. A lot of folks here dislike Kemba but I think he’s a decent guy. And Lin seems to like him. And he knows him better than we do. That doesn’t mean they play together well, but he’s the least offensive ball-dominant player Lin has had to deal with in my opinion. As far as Hornets go, I just don’t like his playing time and lack of finishing games once MKG gets back. But MKG has a way of not playing most of the season. But I truly hope not, as I hope MKG won’t have the injury bug hit him so hard anymore in his career.

  • Arsenium12 .

The Hornets’ next game is Friday in Detroit. So, they’ll stay in New York tonight and fly out tomorrow at noon.

Ridiculous comparison. Kobe has a long list of success and Harden went to the final with the 6th man award. These two’s egos are off the chart selfish mememe. Kemba has no choice or they will have to stay home again (like most of his career) when playoff comes.

  • Win

Imagine if Hornets end up winning the Eastern Conference final? Do you guys still want Lin to leave the Hornets?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I watched the game and judge their plays not their smiles or nice guy appearances.

  • Phillycheese

    Lin.

  • sws94

Perhaps. And he did do a mix and match to get Lin in with MKG where Lin hit two big clutch shots, a layup and a 3.

  • kauaiblue

Yes, if he is playing behind walker…

  • james brown

KW is just a hogger, but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad fellow..but being a franchise player can get to his head and when things got out of his hands, we don’t know what a person can do. Cliff can’t give assurance PT for JLIN because his preference is somewhere else. He just see JLIn as a role fitter and need to use only. JLIN can thrive with any team because his perseverance is well documented, however, havin gthat kind of basketball life, one has to think there’s still light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak!

  • BobbyH

Of course. Starting PG is his goals. If Hornets gets into ECF, Lin must be big part of it and hence his great chances at coming FA.

  • Win

Well. For me is as long as he is happy and allow to play PG for more than 25 mins a game. Then I am cool

  • Alain Gervais

Its Kembas team so its not “ridiculous” Kemba is the hornet second leading scorer all time. Kemba was drafted by the hornets. There are guys who accomplish less like harden right after the trade from oKC who came in with major issues with Lin.

  • james brown

the king is in the house!!!!

  • blubell
  • sport

Yes!! Lin will show he’s a star in finals and get that big contract on his own team!! Lin’s goal never changed, starting PG, All-Star, and Championship!

  • kauaiblue

About walker… hes not supposed to be selfish… just like youre not supposed to be in jail – chris rock… lol

  • John Focker

By that logic Steph Curry would still be playing behind Monta Ellis, and you’d find that to be equally OK.

Winners win and fighters fight, it’s what they do to advance in life. If Jeremy just wants to get by in life and settle for less, he would’ve found a finance job with his Harvard degree.

Its more common then uncommon in the NBA. Lin said This team is the most unselfish team he has been in since “high school”

  • kauaiblue

    Thats right…

  • andrew

it seems like lin has reverted back to his old shooting form?

  • Alain Gervais

    No he hasn’t

  • Win

Ehh. If the team look at him like sixth man of the year, then thats not bad. To me who start the game is not really that important like PJ. What matter is who close the game.

  • Alain Gervais

    This is based off nothing.

  • sport

We’ve seen dumb organizations past 5 years with Lin, don’t be surprised. These teams don’t want real stars just want to hype up a fake chosen one to support their claims and investment! We’ve seen first hand how Rockets and Hornets have done it.

  • andrew

im not saying thats a bad thing cuz hes play exceptionally now

  • james brown

he will leave because of great offers from another team..why waste being a bench player on a team when you can start for another team? UNLESS, hornets trade KW and make jJLIN their franchise PG!

  • Win

And we all know Lin is Mr. 4th Qtr.

  • Joe what do you know

These 2 had history… Get your popcorns ready…

  • Alain Gervais

Exactly. Im just being reasonable i know people Want Insanity all day every day tomorrow. Im just saying In order to get Insanity you need to win, a good coach, a good FO, and a unselfish bunch. Hornets have all of these. finding this is hard. Its my belief Lin will only get a bigger role as time goes on with the hornets.

  • LinMad

    he needs more gel

  • LinMad

    no, this hair is working

  • sport

I won’t think too highly of Cliff he copied Rockets playbook to a tee and is only a lesser evil of Mchale and BS! He still only a YES hyping up Kemba the fact star and has been marginalizing Lin this entire season using anyone as stand in starter over him!

  • Alain Gervais

He hasn’t. Lin said during his struggle his shot would return to his old form or be a winner. He said recently he has been practicing with his shooting coach before the game. Its working. He also said he switch his style because it made his legs tired.

  • LinMad

what if he’s backup PG for Spurs? I’d take that too.

  • kauaiblue

Its based on observation. As the teams “leader” and pg, u would think he would play teamball with jlin. However, he refuses to do so. Otherwise, he is dumb.

  • Alain Gervais

Observation from what the tv. lol

  • sport

Nope still new form quite obvious too. Old form brought the ball too far back, required high jumps with too high of an arc at 3s and very very slow release.

  • kauaiblue

That was during preseason when they WERE playing great teamball.

  • sws94

Has he put more arc in the new shot? Sometimes he looks like he has.

  • Alain Gervais

no it wasn’t He said that during his struggle period

  • sport

I don’ think Lin would take it cause he deserves to start.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Everyone knows that, but he’s not wise enough to know he needed helps. Instead they play politic.

Harden let lin play PG next to him much more than Kemba did this season. Lin had more assists than Harden in their first season.

  • kauaiblue

No way… starter… he has shown and proven himself again and again…

  • Alain Gervais

Harden is a much better PG then Kemba. He gets him self in position where he is open but really no one else. He doesn’t have those skills.

  • HVJoy

True! Lin still has many devoted fans here in NY! His performance yesterday against Spurs certainly brings nostalgia of Linsanity.

  • sport

It matters to Lin!! Lin can’t be All-star nor lead his own team to Championship playing off the bench!!

  • james brown

1 year is enough to give JLIN a definite role or position from the team (from being back up PG. to Back up sg to a SF defense, to a sixth man onward to a clutch player to a defensive specialist to a ????) , but until now, he’s just a fitter and a role used player with inconsistent usage..all depends on cliff needs and not what HORNETS needs.Hoping for abigger role right now is highly doubtful because, a team that cherish his role will give him opportunity even when he’s not clicking just like KW. BATUM. LEE and somewhat ALJeff.

The expeience was good for jeremy because it enhance his versatility but its on him not on hornets, so his chance can get better this FA.

  • Alain Gervais

He also said nice thing about Kemba during NBA tv interview. Said “how unselfish kemba is telling him to Lead”. Check it out yourself

  • blubell
  • Win

Kemba is a ISO player even before Lin join Hornets. I agreed that Kemba is a SG in a PG body. But as far as relationship with Lin concern, them 2 should he cool with each other.

Jeremy Lin compliments Carmelo Anthony, avoids addressing Amar’e Stoudemire’s comments
    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/nets/jeremy-lin-carmelo-anthony-amar-stoudemire-knicks-article-1.2574054?cid=bitly

Jeremy Lin wants nothing to do with whatever tension may be brewing between Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire.

Earlier this month, playing at the Garden for the first time since he was bought out by the Knicks, Stoudemire said he “didn’t think everybody was pleased” with Lin becoming a star during the 2011-12 season. The comment was a perceived shot at Anthony – though Stoudemire later discounted that claim, saying he and Melo are “family.”

For Lin, who is turning heads with a fresh start in Charlotte this season, he’d rather leave any bitterness in the past.

“I can’t speak on behalf of somebody else talking about somebody else,” Lin told the Daily News before Tuesday’s Hornets-Nets game in Brooklyn. “When you talk about journalism or being a professional or whatever, that’s not really what I like to do. I don’t like to guess or assume or predict or whatever. So I’m just going to stay out of it.”

In the aftermath of ‘Linsanity,’ rumors circulated that both Melo and J.R. Smith were unhappy with Lin’s torrid rise to stardom. Melo was reported to not want Lin back, and in the summer of 2012, the Knicks star called Lin’s three-year, $25-million deal with the Rockets a “ridiculous contract.”

Lin said his relationship with Melo during his time with the Knicks was “fine.”

“He was always nice to me. He took us out to eat,” Lin said. “I’ve hung out with him a few times and stuff. And so, like I’ve said for a long time, I’ve never had issues with [him].”

Fresh off a 29-point performance in the Hornets’ win over the Spurs on Monday, Lin entered Tuesday night averaging 11.7 points, 2.9 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game this season in close to 26 minutes off the bench. Hornets coach Steve Clifford, a former Knicks assistant, has played Lin at both points guard and shooting guard, which Lin said has provided more “diversity” to his game.

In the process of putting together a Sixth Man of the Year-quality year, Lin has made himself into a rather appealing free-agent acquisition – especially for a team in need of a point guard.

As it turns out, the Knicks are in need of a point guard.

Lin is in the first year of a two-year, $4.4-million deal, but the second year is a player option. So Lin is expected to opt out and take advantage of his improved play and the rising cap for next season.

The Knicks could be a fit, as long as certain players are comfortable with Lin’s presence. When asked if Melo leaving the Knicks would increase his chance of returning to the Garden, Lin said there are “many
    other factors” at play.

For now, Lin is focused on his current situation and the Hornets’ postseason run.

“I don’t really want to look to far ahead,” Lin said. “For me, after going through what I went through last year in L.A., to be in this position, fighting for playoff positioning and possibly homecourt advantage, man, I’m all into that.

“I don’t even want to start thinking about it just yet.”

  • Alain Gervais

That is a bit all over the place. YEs his role has been inconsistent. But My point is If Lin scores Cliff suavely plays him. Lin Ceiling at the hornets is quite high. The stability here is good. Cliff while he has his flaws is a good coach and will be here for years. Finding all of this else where is unlikely. Its more likely Cliff trust Lin more then the unknown of some other coach trusting his career on Lin.

  • Alain Gervais

    I agree.

  • LinMad

    what’s Lin’s snapchat again?

  • Win

He should have use Kemba more like a SG and penetrate into the basket. Kemba is not bad, he just not a good PG. But as a team, you need a lot of weapon that can score a lot of different way in order to be a player off playoff contender.

As far as whether Lin should stay or go next season, I will leave that to Lin himself and will support him as always.

Well We will see by what Lin does. This assuming he gets an offer from charlotte. We will see how they view him. We’ve seen Lin be under appreciated before. Im waiting by how the season end. The offers Lin gets. Like the Knics he may not get one.

  • sport

Cliff is following MJ and FO orders to prop up Kemba as an all-star so he gets to play 40 minutes, stat pad, and chuck 30 shots with no consequence. We’s seen so many past Lin teams care more about being right about their wrong chosen ones then actually winning Championships. After LIn leaves, Hornets will implode like all the rest.

  • kauaiblue

Ok, lets wait and see together!

  • james brown

would you rather stay safe than seek better place if theres an opportunity for such..your premise lies “WHEN LIN SCORES” will never happen all the time because of many factors..if the NEEDS and The Shots is NOT THERE, cliff will NOT use JLIN much, why? because He thinks he has all the tools needed other than JLin..KW is always SAFE with CLIFF, and even an Injury prone MKG who barely played is so SAFE for his position. if Batum signed and LEE did signed, JLIN can be buried as a bench role player with minimal usage and PT, no higher than whenever he got hot he might be use as NEEDED!

  • rookie75094

Double meltdown at clutfan start in 3,2,1….hahaha

  • Alain Gervais

Its just a better bet opportunity will come from some one you know rather then someone you don’t know. Especially in the Nba where there are favorites and politics. Anyways Lin will decide so we will see

  • james brown

UNLESS POP assured JLIN that his usage will be better than hornets..MIlls is a good back up and has great PT, and pop makes JLIN parker back up, not mills, i will take it because Parker can now start to think about his retirement plan..LOL!

  • james brown

penetrating to the basket now made KW stats good on shot being blocked!!!LOL

  • Steppen03

    For real ??
Backup is backup, and Sixth man is backup. Ginobili is exception. Only starting job can satisfy JL7 AND his fans. He deserves to compete on the highest level. Starters compete against starters. You want people to label Lin as backup ? He CAN win over some starters in the league right now. Just need the opportunity to do so.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

That can not be avoided. Even Lin get block sometime. As a attack PG, penetrating into the basket is a MUST! It makes it harder to defend imo.

  • james brown

i agree with you that chances are good if you know whom you are going to…Hornets are not bad, but i think there are other teams also that is way better for jLIN, and if we are talking someone JLIN knew..MDA will be his best bet!

I get the feeling Stephanie Ready does not like Lin. She seems to be frowning through the whole interview. I don’t know what there is to not like.

As a team reporter don’t you usually smile while interviewing your own players. Example below. Winters smiles with every laker player she talks to, and there has been a lot of them lately.

  • kauaiblue

Yes! He refuses to pass to jlin even when hes hot and he isos and shoots when hes cold. Absolutely verifiable.

I think she likes him and thinks he is a tough, hard-nosed player with a lot of ability to make tough shots. She doesn’t praise him as much as Kemba, but maybe that’s how she feels it is best to do her job. I think Lin feels more comfortable talking to Dell Curry, he looks slightly uncomfortable around Steff to me.

  • sws94

I think it is private. I haven’t found a way to view it.

That’s ridiculous! If Hornets don’t give him a good offer then they’re out of their damn minds. But, First will always be starting PG with a good coach. Windows closing? That’s made the starting job even more important. JL7’s window is many years from now. He will still be impactful years from now because of his experiences, playmaking, and better shooting stroke. Right now, grab the starting job if possible.

Hornets should be in FIRST place in EC (and third in league) if Kemba would just let Lin handle the ball since Game 1.

  • Alain Gervais

This is a stretch. Insanity happened under a good coach and a time where he was needed. Going to a random team and coach whose to say thats guaranteed. Again Same teams who needed Lin last year need him this year. So why didn’t he go there before

  • John Focker

I’m rooting for Jazz, I like Hayward.

  • JoeTeam

I think Stephanie is a fair commentator. I’m wondering why so many people don’t like her. She was to me one of the first to explain JLin’s good play early in the season. Am I out of it?

  • HVJoy

I don’t know if Kemba “has been really nice” to Lin, but he does “come in and take over” even when Lin “went off”. He rarely passes the ball to Lin. Tonight, for example, in 4Q since he went in, Lin has hardly touched the ball for 7 min. “Statue of Linberty” mode ensued.

  • CJSHYY

NY media really love Lin indeed. Haha!

β€œI don’t want to get too far ahead of myself. This could be a special season and I just don’t want to let free agency or whatever, any of these type of questions affect my focus for this season. And so, I haven’t spoken about it to people; I’m not thinking about it, and I just want to ride this one out, you know? This is a special season for me.’’

  • grover chang

She did comment on what Lin did good in the beginning. But quarter of the way through the season Lin seems invisible to her. She is not like rockets who would say negative things about Lin but I think she would choke on her own vomit if she had to give an unprompted compliment on Lins game presently.

Seems uncharacteristically quiet for a Homer color analyst during good plays by Lin.

  • Win

    I hope so too.

  • Lin has the right perspective to not let FA talk to take away his focus on the current season.
He knows if he can help the Hornets create something special in the playoff, the sky is the limit
It might be a Hornets starter, a reunion with MDA as a 76ers/Nets starter, Spurs backup PG, etc.

β€œI’m having a lot of fun here where I’m at,’’ Lin said. β€œI don’t want to get too far ahead of myself. This could be a special season and I just don’t want to let free agency or whatever, any of these type of questions affect my focus for this season. And so, I haven’t spoken about it to people; I’m not thinking about it, and I just want to ride this one out, you know? This is a special season for me.’’

  • grover chang

My mind would explode if that happened. That would be an epic fail compared to last year.

  • hehe .. NY media would love to interview JLin after every game πŸ˜€

  • sws94

James, MDA is not a head coach. I really think until he is one, I can’t consider Lin playing for him rather than the head coach and MDA is the associate coach.

And there’s something good about stability, not changing teams so often as to become a journeyman. You want another team, that definitely puts Lin into solid journeyman territory. There are plusses and minuses to it, but him growing into a system and getting real comfortable takes more than one season and there gets to a point where you just have to find a system that works with acceptable compromises sometimes.

  • Steppen03

It depends. If JL7 can find a team that truly invests in him, a big fat contract, then he should go there (except Lakers, Hou, NY, ). I truly believe this season has open many eyes and minds.

  • CJSHYY

Of course…. They just want him back to NY no matter which team in NY….LOL! “both the Nets and Knicks will be in the market for a veteran point guard in free agency this summer.”

  • KHuang

Another STUPID article by a trash publication that I had the misfortune of growing up with.

The NY media has literally written “Linsanity has not been repeated but was back for one game” like at least 10 times in a row.

  • sws94

Lin was totally involved in the offense and in no way, shape or form was a statue of Linberty. He was setting picks, positioning guys on the floor on offense and defense, serving as an outlet or outlet decoy taking defenders off of Al to double team for instance and very active. He did get a touch where he drove the ball into the paint and got Frank a good look that he missed and he got the ball a few times for touches where he whipped it to someone else which started good ball movement. This was not one of the times Lin was mostly standing in the corner.

  • Win

That’s the right mind. Just play your game and shine!

  • Steppen03

Honestly, I don’t think JL7 will take that long to settle in and be comfortable. It’s all about the trusts from the franchise and coach. He’s a very rounded player by this time. Just need a team to give him full reign for One freaking year and that’s all it takes and they have nothing to lose considering his marketability and popularity. He has Linsanity under his belt and no one can say the same.

  • james brown

because if he’s coming back to Hornets, he will definitely say so and hornets will not let JLIN walk, but right now, hornets team passed on the chance for him to stay and focused on other player other than Jlin..

its not JLIn fault that he will leave, Hornets doesn’t want him to stay because if they are, they will do something about it as early as the first time they signed him!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Has anyone watched this interview??? Please tell me whether this is really what Cliff said. I’m boiling over this comment now:-( I refused to watch Cliff interview.
    https://twitter.com/jlai4747/status/712483548230365184

  • JoeTeam

Thanks, I guess I just don’t pay attention, but I think her announcer partner gives Lin props, right?

  • sport

You’re not the only, felt she didn’t like Lin as well. Probably doesn’t like seeing the Asian guy shine like most people.

  • cdblue10

Cliffraud was it hard for you since Lin was helping you a lot of wins to be recognized and keep your value up being a coach?I guess no,since you like playing politics.

  • sport

She praise Kemba and Batum even for their passes to Lin instead of praising Lin. She’s hater for sure, probably doesn’t want Lin to out shine Kemba.

  • CJSHYY

Why he had to say so…?! I don’t like it. smh!

  • heart

I’m am too! We’ve have long been suspect of Cliff’s impression towards Lin and now he confirms it further. Lin is nothing to him but a bench player now and always will be in his eyes. Pathetic!

  • grover chang

Yes the other two do in natural ways in my opinion. Not overly so as a LOF would.

  • Ok, at least we know that Clifford is quite set with Lin’s role to come off the bench as a Hornets.
For a moment, I was a bit concerned that they might offer a starting SG role next season so JLin will be more likely to stay πŸ™‚

I definitely like the short-term Hornets partnership this year but not the long-term due to MKG coming back + limited min to play PG that will unleash his true potential.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Don’t like Stephanie one bit from the beginning. It’s very annoying to just listen to her. Other announcers at least give the proper credits to JLin when he did something but very little from her like there is no player named as JLin in Hornets.

  • sport

KW has been blocked at the rim and getting the ball stolen these last 2 games. LOL so glad this “fake star” is exposed. On any other team he’d be playing backup PG at best all he makes less than a 1/4 of his 28-30 shot attempts almost every game especially against easy teams. Then he disappears when game is on the line and under pressure. Dude can’t even play well against a low team like the Nets. If karma is real I hope it comes back to full force at both Kemba and Clifford for their politics games!

  • james brown

well the season is not yet over, so MDA might coach some team later and thats a 50% chance also that we cannot discount just like you pointing the other 50%…. , so i am just stating my reply to the one posted above me (i hope its clear) i didn’t mentioned MDA is anybodys coach right now, am i right?

Journeyman means that he’s not yet found a home..that’s clear right now and right now, he didn’t opt to be a journeyman, he was traded previously aside from signing with houston and hornets..if JLIN really look on stability rather than being on a Home team he wish for the sake of it, then he did consider Grizz for 3 years without opt than hornets with option..that’s why he is not talking right now because theres an option out there.

let us see JLINs mind on this and not ours!

  • BobbyH

I think that’s what he said to Lin either after the MIA game or ASG. That’s good enough, no false expectation. Just leave for another team, Spurs, Nets, 76ers, Bulls, Knicks. At least the PT and role will be much bigger.

  • rookie75094

I am glad he said it….that will ensure Jlin won’t be back with the bugs.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I really really really have a problem with him. Really really really dislike him. He should be glad that I’m not a cussing person. I’m boiling right now:-(

  • I look at the bright side.
That means JLin probably won’t stay next season πŸ˜€

He hasn’t changed from early season that JLin’s role is to come off the bench.
So it’s good that it’s only a short-term rental agreement

  • cdblue10

Absolutely agree!if they want him it’s easy as saying yes when you approved into something!

  • John Focker

To each his own. Kemba Walker will always be a sixth man material in my eyes, while Jeremy’s Nash’s second coming.

  • JoeTeam

It’s ok. That reporter, not the Chinese reporter but an unaccented reporter, was pushing him so he was being condescending to the reporter. I don’t think he was saying anything to dis JLin. He was condescending, though.

  • CJSHYY

Don’t worry Lin will not back. But Lin helped him so much why he didn’t say more positive for his role? Next season Hornets will be just like Nets now.

  • yessss … I started to get worried JLin might stay LOL

  • wandertheglobe

Looking at the remaining schedule, the Heat has an easy schedule and they’ll prolly hanging on for 3rd. Hawks have the toughest schedule, they’ll prolly fall to 6th. That leaves Hornets and Celtics for 4 & 5th. It should be a very good playoffs series and chess match between Stevens and Clifford.

  • John Focker

I’m willing to bet my left marble that Jeremy’s NOT coming back to Charlotte.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I’m so glad that I only have to endure another 11 regular games plus whatever games in playoffs. No more Hornets after this season. JLin, please listen to your fans for a change:-)

  • JoeTeam

    No Stay, No Way!

  • heart

I understand you. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. What I have been telling fans/friends here. His motive and words don’t match. Now that Lin has been helping him and Hornets win and be the talk of the town, his cockiness/pride is showing. Basically, he’s degrading Lin’s value. That’s what he’s doing. He wants Lin to remain as a ‘backup’ to KW and he’s telling bidders that Lin is just a ‘bench player’, don’t promote him. That’s the impression I got! This verse comes to mind. “Pride goes before a fall.”

  • CJSHYY

Can you tell me what’s the question for Cliff’s answer?

  • Maknusia

And do well in the playoffs….that carry credits to FA

  • james brown

that’s why its hard to imagine those who followed JLIN to accept role even diminishing one just for the sake of not BRANDED a JOURNEYMAN!!!

  • HVJoy

You described various things Lin ALWAYS does to help the team when he gets no touches. One touch in 7+ minutes? It appeared that we are in agreement that Lin hardly touched the ball when Kemba was on court.

  • james brown

but others here can’t/won’t/refused to see it!

  • JoeTeam

= “Don’t bug me while I’m making my playoff run, please. That’s my reward for this season.”

  • sws94

Bad timing. Clifford probably thought he was asking him to change the lineup so Cliff got condescending. It doesn’t mean he’s dissing Lin, he’s not. You read it right, IMO. Think Cliff is pleased with Lin’s play right now and he played starters minutes tonight and last night.

  • grover chang

I don’t know what Cliff is suppose to say other then Lin role is to come off the bench. He isn’t going to say Lin should start.

Although perception around the league is changing. Nets radio guys said Lin has expanded his game. He could play on or off the ball. That he plays well coming off the bench but he could start. Then the Nets guys chuckled and said the Nets will be in the market for a point guard this off season, just saying.

  • CJSHYY

What’s the question? So the reporter asked him to change the lineup?

  • james brown

who wants to be a JOURNEYMAN? no one wants to be branded as one, but NBA has that mentality except for a few team and players…IF one team doesn’t value one player that much, then its rightful for that player to find a team he can call a HOME if the opportunity comes..hope this is an easy reason to accept, because its a possibility that no one can dismiss!

  • rookie75094

Good luck to you for trying to explain this one…hehe

  • yes, God willing Lin won’t be back if he has starter PG offers

I mean logically JLin knew he can lead teams to beat the Cavs & the Spurs in limited chances while the starting PG can’t. IMO his family and team would advise him to keep beating teams as a starting PG regularly πŸ™‚

Of course there’s a chance he might stay but to sign up as a long-term backup SG at his peak age of 28 years old is unlikely. Maybe at 32 years old with the Spurs would be a good idea.

  • james brown

    LOL!!!

  • sport

The problem isn’t that but he said “Lin’s been bench player all his career” which is NOT True!! That’s an insult to Lin!

  • cdblue10

There’s a lot of way to say it as politically acceptable since he loves playing politics anyway. He should have said it in a lot of ways.

  • your son’s voltaire

i don’t like this cliff fella

  • Win

    Agreed

  • your son’s voltaire

clifford’s role is to beg his players not to get him fired

  • james brown

i thought Cliff know JLIN best as he said it before signing him past summer!

  • james brown

he said so loud during the spurs moment of truth!!!!

  • sport

True but he will get fired when Hornets implode next season and Lin’s giving them a beating on MDA’s team.

  • Alain Gervais

He step in it to be exact. Thats bad politics. could of answered it better

  • Win

He could have just say something like Lin’s role for now is off the bench but he he could starter elsewhere, etc etc.

  • Alain Gervais

He answered it wrong. May effect what Lin decides to do

  • Win

I mean Lin is capable to start or something.

  • sws94

The reporter just didn’t pick a great time to make the point about Lin which is more how Lin has adjusted to the role and how what he is doing is remarkable because he has to do it within the context of the bench vs. starting. For Clifford, after a game, it probably sounded like he was asking if he was considering starting Lin and Cliff, thinking about how Lin came in off the bench and turned the team around last night which is what the doctor ordered, is great in that role so that’s his role.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! That’s he used to say… I don’t like his answer today. smh!

  • Win

He did? When? During postgame interview?

  • sport

Lin’s already gone, his only “focus” is to play well and get his new shooting form going.

  • Alain Gervais

In politics this is a gaffe. I understand what he wanted to say but came off like Lin is defined as a bench player. Which he said otherwise earlier this year. ill chop it up as poor choice of words. A lot of people don’t like him. this won’t help

  • cshot

you’re not the only one angry. i never never had a good feeling about him. just you wait cliff… lins gonna be a starting pg and whoop your team again and again, and you’re gonna wish you still had him

  • sws94

It all depends on what Cliff says to Lin directly on his usage and potential usage, not so much what he says to the media.

  • CJSHYY

Before you signed the contract always Yes on everything… after it’s another story.

  • Alain Gervais

OR he could of said Lins coming off the bench right now. I cant predict the future

  • sport

You still don’t get it! The guy said “Lin’s been a bench player all his career” when he started for Knicks and Rockets! By saying that he’s saying Lin will never be starter only bench player!

  • james brown

Cliff words define himself! i am not surprised now on what come out from his mouth!

  • sws94

No, that’s probably what Cliff thought he was getting at. The reporter was pointing out to Cliff what Lin said about coming in and providing energy and playing his game starting vs. coming off the bench and Cliff seemed to hear it wrong and just said Lin comes off the bench, it’s his role in most of his career and here.

  • sws94

I don’t want to talk to you about this, Sport. I find you saying I’m defending a hater offensive so I’m not going to talk to you unless you calm down and hear my point rather than get all emotional about something. You have your bias against Clifford which I don’t share. So we should respect that and leave it at that.

  • sport

Nope these haters coaches will only think, ” I can’t let that Asian guy shine against my team” Look at how hard Mchale and Rockets tried to defend against Lin when he was on Lakers before their implosion.

  • Ben Johnson

Yeah, that’s funny, cause as I recall, JLin has been the starter for more playoff teams than Cliffie has freaking coached!!!

  • it was a bit hard to hear.
Perhaps Cliff misunderstood at first about if JLin would start

  • cdblue10

Whatever question they threw at him he should be in good spirit and answer it in more acceptable way.He can simply quote John Wooden, that finishing the game is better than starting something like that but he opted to answer it very arrogantly and very condescending.

  • james brown

but he didn’t..he was focused more on what other player with think otherwise if he give props to JLIN.

  • sws94

But it wasn’t the right time to ask the question. I just think it was an awkward exchange. Not making too much more of it.

  • Win

exactly. He has mentioned Lin is capable to start on some other teams. Why the h*** he answer like that today? That is so not him. He knows how to talk.

  • Rick Johnson

Utah is only 1/2 game behind Houston and they play head to head tomorrow. I would so much like Utah to knock the Rockets out of the playoff seeding.

  • CaliUSMC

Tristan Thompson is a prime example. Sooo overrated.

  • james brown

its not about the question but how to be political on your answer is the error with it!

  • your son’s voltaire

nope, he’s backed it up by never allowing Lin to start except when a starter is injured. Lin will NEVER be a starter on his team. period

  • HVJoy

Did he really say that? Time to pacify the team “MVP” by putting down Lin who dared to outshine the former? The comment is uncalled-for and so infuriating!

  • james brown

    got that point!

  • 22cents

Awkward exchange may reflect some deep insightful information. Don’t you think?
Anyway, Lin is a bench player for this team. That is for sure.

  • Alain Gervais

Still Bad answer. Lin knows Cliff by now so this won’t affect Lins choice but people here won’t like cliff at all. I was just arguing for Lin to stay. Cliff with the impeccable timing just killed m argument. He seemed little cocky in the answer. Like matter of factly saying this. This is the issue with Lin wherever he goes. He is the biggest story. So reporter will ask questions like this to coaches. Which will put them on the hot seat. If Lin continues to play like he is. He will start here or else where if needed. Attention is on him to much. He does need to be in a place that wins to get that attention

  • james brown

yeah..and the words was directly shared by him during his huddle when the score was 22 spurs as against 7 hornets

  • james brown

    you have a point here!

  • Win

Nope. Sws94, you know that I have said you are a true and I still believe you are. But I have to kind of agreed with sport this time. The “Lin’s been a bench player all his career” is so unnecessary. It was like he accidentally said what he really thinks about Lin.

  • CJSHYY

Oh! Of course in Hornets Cliff has to be make it out loud that Kemba is nonreplaceable starting PG. He used to say Lin can start for any team… he should say that today… smh! But this just tell you how much he’s afraid of Kemba & how much MJ support Kemba… Do you know who’s the reporter? Didn’t see any article about this question at all. I think to NY media what they care the most it’s “Can Linsanity come back to NY? No matter which team? NYK or Nets.”

  • LAJane

After reading the whole thread here, whatever Cliff thought he heard and whatever he thought he meant to say…he put his foot in a big cow pie!

  • sport

Not bias, actions speak louder than words. Especially when Cliff yells at Lin and micromanages but lets Kemba and Batum to whatever they want. Not to mention the limited minutes of only 15-18 before last 2 games while Kemba and Batum had 40 minutes every game. Lin’s average usage is by far his worst in his NBA career for this season!. Don’t forget Cliff lied to Lin when he asked whether he could start. Cliff said right now he would play off the bench but if he played well he might start. That’s a big contrast from what he’s saying in this interview.

  • james brown

    bad move cliff!

  • sws94

And that’s what he signed up for. But Lin is the first to start when PG, SG and sometimes SF couldn’t start. Lin has started for Batum, Kemba, PJ/MKG all but one game one of them couldn’t start. In fact, I think it was against the Bucks due to their unusual height.

  • CJSHYY

I agree. But this just tell you how Cliff is afraid that Kemba will be unhappy about the news that Lin can be starting PG for Hornets.

  • james brown

LOL!!! and i thought cliff is a sweet talker…

  • sws94

He handled it poorly, somehow I don’t see it having that big an impact.

  • james brown

generalization when in fact he knew, JLIn was marginalized that’s why he got him on his team!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

What Cliff said is my confirmation of how I’ve viewed of him for few months now. He is worse than KM & BS combined. At least KM and BS put JLin as bench player because of “other” reasons. Cliff is just worst. He saw JLin as “bench” player.

  • CJSHYY

Me too. Can’t wait to see Harden, Morey, said sorry to Rox fans that we can’t have playoff game this year. LOL!

  • your son’s voltaire

NO HE DIDNT. and how many times do i have to repeat to you that Lin signed on initially knowing he would back up kemba but hoping that he’d get a fair chance to start if he performs??

  • JLin Fan from Australia

It only means finally Cliff has shown his true color for the whole wide world to see.

  • Joe what do you know

Lol… Clifford at it again. Why are you all fighting against each other for a little brainless comment he made? Do we really have any high expectation of him after these couple of months? Come on guys, Cliff’s comment isn’t the golden benchmark for general perception on JLin. Don’t let one of his little clueless comment affect our good mood.

  • james brown

    BRAVO CLIFF..BRAVO!!!!!

    LOL

  • HVJoy

    exactly!

  • cdblue10

    Surely it is.

  • Win

Is there a video a video clips? If so where can I find it?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

We’re not fighting, it’s a confirmation of who he is and was.

  • Alain Gervais

It won’t. But here If Lin signs long term to the hornets. I expect a lot of people won’t be happy. The way he said it is concerning. Even to me. I don’t think Lin will ever take Kemba’s spot. The sg Spot should be an option. If he is completely opposed to that Then Lin should leave. I still want I’m to stay because the ceiling is still high. They win a lot and Give Lin chances to go Insanity.Which will grab media attention which will put pressure on him to start Lin

  • sws94

Because I see it as him not understanding why the reporter was talking about Lin off of the bench vs. starter. I think Clifford wanted to dismiss the notion he was changing the lineup and let’s move on from that so he answered it like that. I agree with Alain that he answered it poorly.

  • Maknusia

well said…it is what it is…there is no point in getting emotional and cussing one another or any other parties

  • Win

    very poorly indeed

  • cdblue10

    Exactly.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes can’t wait to see Rox out of playoff seeding for good:-)

  • james brown

it has for it aggravates the situation with the FA with Lin…

  • Joe what do you know

Sometimes I think Clifford’s real conspiracy isn’t about denying JLin’s opportunities. It seems like he wants to break us Lin fans apart… And he’s damn good at it. More dangerous than ISIS… Lol he might be spying on this forum… Who knows huh!?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

61 games and now he admitted, Lin’s NO starter career.

  • Alain Gervais

agreed. Ive been at odds with you. so you know I’m being honest when i say yes he answered it wrong. Could of answered it in multiple ways that would of been much more acceptable

  • sws94

I don’t think he’ll consider Lin has a starting SG due to his height. But as a spot starter, he can do the job well for a number of games. If Lee breaks his toe, Lin will probably be the one starting all the games Lee can’t play for instance. But his ideal 2 guard is someone’s Lee’s height or an inch or two taller.

  • aras

A poster on charlotte forum wrote this and i fully agree with him.

I think the problem is that he’s rhythm player who needs time as PG to get into rhythm. In the Cavs game, Kemba was out, so he had time as PG to get into rhythm. In the Spurs game, notice that the comeback began in the second quarter with Kemba out and Lin was able to play PG, and he was able to get into serious rhythm with an extend stretch as PG because Kemba was in foul trouble.

Lin is not an ideal bench player because he doesn’t have that instant offense bench player mentality of launching whether the shot goes in or not, he has a starting PG’s mentality of getting into rhythm with the ball and creating for teammates whose tendencies he knows. Off the bench, you’re never sure who you’re playing with.

For a sixth man, you want someone who comes in and launches without conscience like a JR Smith or Jamal Crawford or Nick Young. That’s not Lin. Lin is a rhythm player who needs time as the ball-handler (whether you’re nominally calling the PG position PG or SG) to get into rhythm, and he often looks to create rather than get his own. It’s also why he seems to perform better with starter minutes than with choppy bench minutes where he can’t get into rhythm with touches and opportunity to orchestrate the offense. He can adapt to it (and he has to on this team), but it’s not ideal, since it doesn’t really suit his style as a rhythm player.

Kemba is having an amazing year (glad he finally made the leap with his long ball), and with a healthy MKG next year, the 15 minutes a game that the Hornets can offer JLin will further make it difficult for JLin to get into rhythm.

He’s not going to get the extend run at PG like he did in the Cavs game (Kemba out) or Spurs game (Kemba foul trouble 1st half) to get into rhythm. I don’t really see a future here with the Hornets for him next season at just 15 minutes off the bench, and the Hornets have other priorities to spend their free agency money on anyway. We should just root for the team to make a good run in the playoffs and enjoy the moment. The off-season will take care of itself.

I think this team can make a nice run in the playoffs with Lin’s help.

  • james brown

i guess JLIN knew what to do this coming FA..be a FREE AGENT!!!

  • Maknusia

hahaha…sadly most of the coaches thus far were not bright enough to see what Lin brings to the plate

  • Rick Johnson

Utah’s last game was Sunday and will be on 2 days rest. Houston will be on 2nd of a B2B just barely losing to OKC. Go Jazz !!!

  • Win

I am really starting to suspect he is a racial now. Did you see the way he looks at the Asian reporter and the way he answered her question?

  • Alain Gervais

JJ reddick is an inch taller Then Lin.

  • cdblue10

And yet he started a few games and won in a convincingly passion,I guessed Cliff was half brain dead when he answered that question….LOL

  • Win

    lol

  • sws94

It’s right above. Just click the twitter link above.

  • cdblue10

    LOL

  • your son’s voltaire

clifford’s view of Lin has always been a bench scrub with surprisingly good at defense and is capable of having a big game once in a while

  • heart

Yep. In a preseason interview he once said that Lin can be starter in this league, but once the season started everything and I mean everything he said or did prior had changed 180 degree. How pathetic!!!

  • sws94

That’s your interpretation and you don’t have to repeat anything to me. I don’t have to agree with you and you should accept that. People get in trouble here when you want me to view things like you do and I don’t. I though Lin would come here, play off the bench and be a 6th man and that’s mostly what he’s done.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

No, he saw it in Lin but hatred and politic overcome doing the right thing.

  • LAJane

I think that starter business is entirely fan hope. I think Jeremy was fully informed that Kemba is their man, but that he’d get good playing time alongside him. Jeremy has been around the block many times. He does not make decisions on hope. He calculates the best risk knowing that sometimes it plays the way you want and sometimes elements nobody can know for sure cause the picture to change. As it turned out, Kemba has not had the ABILITY to rise to the benefit and opportunity Jeremy can offer. Given that, management has elected to stick with their guy. Jeremy understands that and feels no bitterness. He likes these guys. He’s “gotten his” out of it because his talent is unstoppable…and he left himself the player option exit..

My complaint about Clifford’s comment is that he said Jeremy’s been a bench player most of his career. That was undiplomatic at best, and stupid at worst.

  • sport

They see it but they just don’t like it!

  • Win

That’s what I thought too. I never thinks he really mean it though.

  • Maknusia

probably because one need to pay close attention to Asian reporters on the question due to their accent

  • sws94

It was stupid. I really don’t think Cliff realized how stupid it was. But I understand how he misinterpreted the reporter if I’m right.

  • james brown

if cliff wants to start JLIN he can do so immediately, but he doesn’t want to..thats a fact and if JLIn will move as a starter because of an injury, i can’t see it as very appetizing for a player like JLIn because he doesn’t want his teammates to be injured for him to start!

  • your son’s voltaire

you obviously aren’t being honest if you’re telling me Lin signed on knowing that he’d never earn a starting job

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I disagree. He is only trying to kiss KW’s as$.

  • your son’s voltaire

that too. proof in the pudding (his spurs post game interview)

  • sws94

I’m not into being dishonest. I write what I think. IF you find it dishonest, that’s your prerogative.

  • Win

    Well said.

  • sport

Nah, KM and BS found some ridiculous excuse to start scrubs over Lin and showed outright they didn’t like him. Cliff was just more cunning even pretending to like Lin by flying to his home to convince him to sign. But you can never head the fox under sheep skin for long. Knew who he was since day one of regular season when Lin didn’t start. Meanwhile a nobody who they eventually traded away (PJ) got to start.

  • your son’s voltaire

Lin is a team player and a floor general. he’s no sixth man because he’s not an isolation player. he needs the team and the team needs him

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Any of you still want Lin to stay and play next to KW and under Cliff?

  • JoeTeam

Agree … guess no coach likes to answer JLin questions when it goes beyond the specific game or role.

  • Even if Manu retires?
there might be an opening afterwards

  • sws94

I actually think if Lin gets starters minutes, he’s ok. He needs touches, and running PG or sets or initiating offense in succession could work for him if not all-out PG. How he played in the last two games works. How he did in many games before doesn’t.

  • your son’s voltaire

so you do think Lin signed on knowing he’d never get a chance to earn a starting job?

  • sws94

6th man has nothing to do with isolation or not. It’s your starter off of the bench that can play a multitude of styles and definitely can be a facilitating player as well as a scorer.

  • Alain Gervais

This poster is delusional if they think Hornets will be good with out a player like Lin. Who fills in for MKG when he inevitably get injured. Who counter balances Kemba who isn’t a real PG. Well teams make bad choices. Charlotte When Lin leaves will never be in the media. They will just get in the playoffs most year or just out. How many time have the starter started but but Lin leading the bench changes it for them. Im sure Like houston or Knicks the first year he leave they will be ok but i bet its down hill from there

  • GoJLin!

Totally agreed with you, I don’t even want to hear his voice! After Feb, 2012 at NY, JLIN play more starter than bench and Clifford dare to say “that’s his role most of his NBA career”, what kind of coach he is? Can he learn from JLIN say something with kindness and warm heart?

  • Alain Gervais

Lin was also playing 22-25 minutes with MKG there so i don’t understand where he is coming from. Also AL will likely be gone.

  • CJSHYY

Hope Ref will help Harden too much. If so Jazz will be OK.

  • your son’s voltaire

it has everything to do with isolation. starters roles are set and they run more designed plays. the sixth man are mainly individual scorers like Nick Young, Isaiah Thomas, etc

  • cshot

    no

  • I agree. With his speed and propensity to draw fouls, Lin will open up space that Nash couldn’t

I’m saying Lin hasn’t had a chance to start in a PG-centric system yet for 2-3 seasons. When he does, he can be definitely compete with Nash

  • cdblue10

Knowing Lin since he don’t really up to the money,if they’ll be successful this year (which they’re already are)he could prolly signed up with them in a very reasonable price but w/ this kind of comment from Cliff,he just killed every chance that Hornets got for him.

  • Alain Gervais

Depends. Season still going. Moves unknown. Nothing decided

  • steven ko

only if Lin helps them make a deep playoff run

  • sws94

The 6th man can be like Lin as well. There is no set definition of how he plays, just his impact on the team and that he gets close to starter’s minutes or starter’s minutes.

  • LAJane

You’re too carried away with the idea that Jeremy was angling for starting over Kemba. Everyone involved here – coach, GM, Jeremy – has said the offer was for him to lead the bench and to get good playing time with Kemba. Period. WE wanted more. Jeremy’s not mad about this. That Kemba hasn’t been up to taking advantage of what Jeremy can give, that Jeremy’s talent and fan base have been a bit overwhelming…it’s all OK. Jeremy easily handles that, and has left himself room to move on. Be mad at Cliff for saying something stupid. Be mad at him for not managing rotations well. But really you can’t be mad at him for not giving Jeremy Kemba’s starting spot – especially since that is not his to give. He is a cog in a bigger machine. Jeremy can take care of himself. His talent and his character are unstoppable.

  • sws94

I agree. I want to hear what they say in the exit interview but that’s after the season and playoffs.

  • CJSHYY

Of course not & Lin will not stay either.

  • your son’s voltaire

never did. i took a lot of heat for analyzing kemba’s game early in the season. also took a lot of heat for saying clifford may be worst than mchale and byron

  • aras

Kemba is having a breakout year. hes the face of that franchise. As long as he is there Lin will be stuck in the middle. For all the hate kemba gets here he is having a career year. and he is a wonderful teammate. I never thought Lin was going to stay on this team to be honest. all the games he’s had that have been great he has been touching the ball a lot making plays. It wont happen a lot on this team.

  • Joe what do you know

    Next to Kemba… No…
Under Clifford….. Only if Lin become his new pet project.
    Everything is circumstantial…

  • sport

If it was height, Kemba won’t even be starting he’s even shorter than Lin! It doesn’t matter, Cliff will not allow Lin to start along side Kemba and Batum at the same time. That’s why he allowed PJ to start over Lin. If Lee goes down he’ll start someone else, Lamb, Daniels or whoever and make up some lame excuse. Lin is miles better than those player but it doesn’t matter. How do you explain Lin betting Cavs as starter but goes back to bench with only 15ins once Kemba’s back? Any unbias coach would’ve started Lin after that game. How do you think Paul George rose to fame? It was because of injury to another player “designated star player” yet he continued to start after the other player came back. On Knicks, Lin continued to start even when both Amare and Melo were back.

  • JoeTeam

This articles says a lot of good things about Lin … just depends on how you see it half full or half empty:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/jeremy-lin-is-a-role-player–and-that-s-ok-212014428.html

  • Maknusia

I leave it to Lin…he knows whats best

  • CJSHYY

Even so they will not give him the credit either. It will go to Batum & Kemba.

  • your son’s voltaire

don’t reply to me anymore if you’re gonna be this clueless

  • aras

If Lee stays he’ll prob go to the bench when MKG is healthy thus impacting Lins minutes.

  • Alain Gervais

WoW 10/10 everything i thought. Well said

  • Epie

I don’t want him to stay, but who knows what Lin is thinking…

  • LAJane

Absolutely. That’s his big goal. There are steps to getting there, and Charlotte gave him what he needed to kill McHale and Scotts badmouthing. Moving on now to the next step – which he has just said he will not talk about until THIS season is over.

  • Alain Gervais

The hornets would be completely out of their minds to not make resigning Lin a priority

  • james brown

agreed fully except that JLIN thought Cliff can be a flexible man during the get to know negotiation.

  • your son’s voltaire

you’re giving clifford way too much credit here. but to each their own

  • aras

Thats what he needs. he needs to get in a flow. some people think its all bullcrap when i say this. but anyone who has played sport knows this. wether it’s soccer or basketball. Your body needs to adjust to the tempo and flow of the game. Thats what Lin does..

  • sport

Lin was never promised to start “over Kemba” He was promised to start if he played well and he sure plays 10x better than PJ, Lee, and Batum as SG; the later 2 playing out of their natural positions.

  • LAJane

I’m not giving Clifford ANY credit. I’m giving all the credit to Jeremy and his talent and wisdom and character.

  • aras

cant see that happening. in a way both parties would be happy. Next season MKG is back they’ll have a real good squadif Lin is there but i dont think he’ll play all that much.

  • your son’s voltaire

he definitely didn’t expect to play behind PJ and now Lee

  • Alain Gervais

Doubt it. Lee would take the Pj role. fill in for MKg if he gets injured. Lins role is quite unique because few has the talent to do. His minutes are a lock . Bad shooting in all. Doubt they will sign lee. unless he is cheap

  • sws94

I think he signed on to play with a coach that made sense to him during the interview, he liked some of the main guys on the team, he loves Coach Silas, Charlotte is a low-key town away from the crap that is Houston and the crazy media of LA and NYC. It’s a bunch of factors. He did 1 and 1 and felt it out. Now he’s focused on getting his shot back which he has the past 2 games, playing more instinctively and going down the homestretch into a playoff run.

  • aras

They love Lee he has been good for them. he does not require a lot of touches thats what they like. Lin requires touches to get himself going.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin play aroundd 22-25 with Him there. It was too short of a period to know exactly

  • sws94

Exactly. You get it. Clifford really isn’t that important. He’s a tolerable coach and Lin has great talent and sometimes Cliff uses it, sometimes not. He’s used it enough so that I’m not completely crazy and I’m loving the roll Lin is on now.

  • Rick Johnson

Cyberx post from Clutchfans. Morey should have traded Dwight at the deadline to get something. Now will walk away and get nothing. Not really news though, everyone knew Dwight won’t be coming back to the Rockets:

Sources: Dwight doesn’t see himself as a Rocket next year
    03-21-2016, 02:59 PM #1

    cyberx

He is pretty much over this whole thing. He is tired of not being showcased and feels he isnt valued at all. He thinks its best if everyone moves on after this year.

Thing could change as always, but right now, looks like Dwight is ready to go.

  • Alain Gervais

Lee is filler for MKG. If you have MKG you don’t need Lee.

  • aras

we’ll see but chances are his minutes would be less if he resigns.

  • your son’s voltaire

i don’t think the hornets gave him anything. everything Lin has done on this team has been on his own despite the poor treatment. and i’ll bet anything he won’t stick around next year

  • sws94

    Yup.

  • Alain Gervais

His minutes are 25 so maybe a little doubt MKG stays healthy all season.

  • aras

why do you have to reply in such a way?

  • sws94

Don’t be rude or you don’t deserve anyone replying to you. Be civil, as I’ve been to you. Disagreeing is acceptable. Being disagreeable isn’t.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Nooooo, lin does not know what’s best for himself.

  • Joe what do you know

Wonder how much longer til Houston FO finally realises Harden is driving away all other star players….

  • real-dsb

LAJane hit the nail on the head. The Hornets/Clifford told Lin he would be coming off the bench. I had hoped that Batum would be SF, and that Lin would get a shot at starting at SG, but there was no chance for Kemba to be demoted to the bench because they had already committed to him as the franchise player.

I think Clifford was confused by the reporter’s question (which I didn’t understand either), and I think Clifford thought the reporter was implying that perhaps Lin should get a start, so Clifford wanted to snuff out any of that. But his answer came out very poorly.

  • Maknusia

    well said!

  • cdblue10

It’s going to be laughable if Lin,Al,Batum and Marvin will go to Sixers since Philly has a lot of money and picks to burn….LOL

  • james brown

    LOL!!!!

  • aras

i doubt MKG stays healthy aswell. Whatever Lin does ill still support him. but for me if he was going to play less than 20? i’d rather he gone to a contender. I’d looooove Lin on the spurs my god that would be awesome.

  • CJSHYY

I think D12 made a huge mistake to go to Rox… he will not as hot as 3 years ago in this summer FA.

  • aras

    Good backup to have.

  • Yes, Lin is smart enough and blessed enough to know which opportunity would be best for his career.

After all, Linsanity happened in 2012. It can happen again

  • sport

That’s what he gets for not standing up for Lin when he was there. Instead he teamed up with Harden and he’s reaping what he sole.

  • Ben Johnson

Can’t wait til the impending day that Morey finds his butt unemployed and on the street…

  • CJSHYY

They knew & I just hope they tie w Harden to the end of his career. Don’t want Harden to be w Lin in the same team again. smh!

  • sws94

Yet what does MJ really think of him? And what is he saying to Cho and Clifford? Those 3 will look at so many factors and see if Lin has any interest at staying and try to figure out if Lin will be worth what he wants out of the team. It may not be money. Lin may want more playing time and closing 2/3rds of the games or something like that. Or more time running PG. I don’t know. That’s my hypothetical but MJ’s assessment of Lin may be a big part of whether he stays or goes.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

This is just fans’s opinions psalm, no need to be genius to know that.

  • james brown

i agree with your definition onhow to maximize JLIn’s potentials and his role as a sixth man for the team

  • sport

3 years ago was his last chance at the ring before his prime was over. Cuban was right to call out Dwight’s decision a mistake. He went from one ball hog in Kobe to another wannabe Kobe in Harden. If he did any research he would know Harden was their featured man, even the analyzers on tv mentioned that during off season.

  • Alain Gervais

MJ’s statement on Lin in preseason was correct. Lin has lived up to everything he could of wanted from Lin

  • sws94

Unless Lamb is 3rd string and Lee is the new Lamb to Lin’s 2nd unit PG.

  • Joe what do you know

Morey seriously shot himself in the foot…. No… Shot himself in the nutsac, with that trade. Lol. 聰明反蒫聰明θͺ€ is what’s best used to describe him…

  • I like this 19.2 pts/5.2asts/4.3rebs stats without Walker

His field-goal and 3-point accuracy have jumped by about 4 percent when he’s running the show, and his statistical production β€” 19.2 points, 5.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds per-36 without Walker β€” would put him in pretty impressive company. Only 11 players this season are averaging at least 19-5-4 per-36, including All-Stars Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Kyle Lowry, LeBron James, Chris Paul, James Harden, John Wall and Dwayne Wade

  • Alain Gervais

After beating the spurs i think Lin should be a Lock to win sixth man of the year

  • vincent

I actually think Clifford is a great coach for Lin. You look at all the games that Lin’s shined under him and he really knew how to get lin involved WHEN he needed him. The problem is politics won’t allow Lin to play his game. You go back to that first preseason game against Orlando and it looked promising as heck. Cliff seemed adamant about letting Lin handle the ball and ran MANY screens for him just like in the CLE, TOR and SA games. I believe Kemba let Clifford know that he felt threatened and thus what we had hoped to be a great year for lin only turned out to be decent. However, Lin’s market value will be up big time and it is good because the coach and commentators always praise Lin. Lin actually played better in Houston because he was given the ball more, but the commentators bashed him so much so that everyone started to view Lin in a condescending manner.

  • CJSHYY

I agree. Hope he got what he asked for it ASAP.

  • james brown

cliff liked Lee a lot for i learned that cliff coached Lee before.

  • your son’s voltaire

he does know best but im worried his good heart will be taken advantage of

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Well, I let Howard to decide that. He knows what’s best.

  • Alain Gervais

He did in orlando. Im not sure they can afford him . He won’t make much of a difference if Lin is not there.

  • sws94

MJ is not unlike Kobe, just not as severe and MJ has a better sense of humor. If MJ sees that Lin can be clutch and do so much, but not always, he’ll have to decide if Lin’s mental state is to win at all costs or not play as confidently to enable that. That’s where I’m not sure. MJ has seen Lin perform great in games he’s attended. But I’m sure he’s watched Lin play with less confidence as well. And of course MJ knows Lin’s true physical state better than us fans do. In other words, MJ may think Lin’s done well but has the capability to do even better.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

72 games, how many of the those lin was shined?

  • sport

His best decision is to call up Lin and team up on their new team but Howard would have to learn his lesson and be willing to work with MDA on PnR, doubt it.

  • CJSHYY

D12 is not smart guy & also buy in too much what CP sell to him… smh! Ya! If he’s doing more google he would know Harden is worst than Kobe & he’s still young… many more years to come… smh!

  • vincent

Like I said CLE, Spurs, Raptors and a bunch of others, but Clifford only used Lin because he had to. Im just saying he knows how to use Lin when he wants to is all.

  • vincent

Problem is Lin is only a 2m a year player so he lets Kemba do his thing because he’s the FACE of the franchise

  • sws94

    Yup.

  • your son’s voltaire

he should’ve been treated much better for the discount. the opposite is true

  • sws94

X factor. But Kemba or Batum falters, Lin to the rescue. Kind of insulting but kind of reinforces the flexibility and importance and capabilities of Lin.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

A great coach would max his players potential not only when he’s needed

  • sws94

At 2 guard, not PG. Lin is a good sized PG, but an undersized SG.

  • zxcvb

LOL, Rox. Awful team, awful franchise, awful fanbase. So many racists in Houston.
Very gratifying to see them fall apart, though their collapse was a predictable one.

  • vincent

well yes, but you have to admit he does know how to play to Lin’ strengths unlike Byron

  • sws94

He doesn’t want to. He wants Lin as the leader of the 2nd unit and to change energy in games when needed.

  • Alain Gervais

Well anyone who watch Lin should be able to see that

  • your son’s voltaire

Lin/Lee/Batum backcourt to start. Kemba coming off the bench as the scoring 6th man would be using all of the players to their potentials

  • sws94

He’s not thinking about FA from what I can gather. This forum is. But he seems to be thinking of this season and playoffs.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Ok, he is better than Byront. That’s far from being a great coach

  • sport

Every coach has done the same using Lin to get the game close again and then pull him out or ice him out. It’s a bad cycle that Mchale invented.

  • vincent

I agree it sucks hopefully we will see a MDA reunion because we all know MDA does not buy into the whole politics game

  • Alain Gervais

People seem to not get how important Lin is to the hornets. 8 out of the 14 best Lineups for the Hornets include Lin 5 out of the top 6 include Lin. If he leaves. Mark my word. Hornets will greatly regret it.

  • HVJoy

the “Lin is the Porsche ” theory? — he only get used at rare occasions when absolutely necessary

  • sws94

A man, no idea beyond that who the reporter is.

Cliff should have known that in NYC he’d get a lot of Lin questions. He was really ill-prepared for them tonight for some reason.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Yes, but we re dreaming

  • your son’s voltaire

disagreed. byron knew how to use Lin and the numbers supports it. byron actually knows Lin’s game so well that when he wanted to suppress Lin like during the end of the season, he knew to separate Lin and ED and then started Clarkson with Lin

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Lol

  • sport

Yes and for one MDA doesn’t have to fight as much with a familiar friend in charge nor worry about being fired.

  • GoJLin!

It will be nice, but will never happen, Clifford himself already said “the player will got him fired”.

  • Vincent

all your seeing is the negative man. He can set up plays for Lin when he wants to he’s just too stubborn to do so because of politics etc. Also Lin’s defense has improved tremendously under Clifford. Clifford is the best coach lin has had since MDA IMO.

  • your son’s voltaire

true. just saying though that if clifford was really using players to their potential, he’d do the opposite of what he’s doing right now

  • Singapore BB Fan

IMO if Lin is weak minded he would have been sulking like Kemba, just saying….

  • swijaya

    Agree with this …

While hating the limitation (PG role, PT), CHA is doing very well for their standard.
Lin is definitely the top 3 players in the team.

    Lin GET HIS

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Look at the 3 teams he was, where are they?

  • TTNN

occasions like when it is on national TV (sort of), and can’t let Hornets looks like a joke.

  • CJSHYY

Of course, I believe Hornets knew it too that’s why right now they want to train their own players for their own team chemistry to prepare for next season. But I can tell they will likely not make it to playoff next season.

  • Alain Gervais

    Downhill.

  • sws94

You have your bias and I have mine and we all do. And Clifford’s actions have had Lin playing a lot of minutes, not any 15-18, that was the exception to the norm, not the norm. He played 32 last night and around the same tonight and he averages 26 for the season which is well above the average back up PGs average minutes. He closed tonight and last night and last night was one of the biggest games of the year. He’s showed a lot of faith in Lin by having him come in the last few seconds of the Miami game and he hit 4 FTs and on and on and on and on. His actions have been pro-Lin where I think a lot on this board only see Lin vs. Kemba where it is Lin’s fit on the team and how he is used as an X-factor that I see. It isn’t so much about bench which I don’t think is the big deal you do. It is when he comes in, how important is the time in the game he plays. And often it is in crucial times in the games. Lin doesn’t play a lot of garbage time or any garbage time. He plays when it matters. And that’s Clifford’s actions that shows he has some value to Lin whether he starts or plays off of the bench. And some of the guys Cliff has started don’t get the same minutes or playing in crucial times as Lin does and that’s why I don’t give the same importance to bench vs. starting that you give it and others do.

  • cdblue10

If they can’t sign up Marvin,Lin and Lee they prolly need to tank the season next year

  • Joe what do you know

    Agreed with this part. MDA>>>Clifford>McHale>Woodson>>>Byron…

  • your son’s voltaire

i give Lin’s defense credit to GARY PAYTON who worked with Lin before playing a single NBA game. Lin’s defense was SUPERB from the very start. now i’m sounding like KHuang urgh

  • vincent

I bet you kemba and batum have enough pull to get cliff fired if they wanted to

  • Alain Gervais

My stats come from basketball breakdown 1:16 time stamp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLggcxTFOmY

  • sws94

I think he really likes Lin. We’ll find out more after the playoffs. I hope.

  • vincent

damn you put mchale over woodson?

  • your son’s voltaire

    agreed

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He setup lin as role player, wakeup. LIn in corner while kw n batum run plays 95% of the offense in the season.

  • sws94

I don’t want that and MDA isn’t a head coach. When MDA is a head coach, then we’ll see what he does. Until then, he’s just like Patrick Ewing is to the Hornets. An associate head coach.

  • vincent

so lin stood in the corner durign the SA game. He let Lin run the game because he knew he had no other choice. If he let Lin run the plays all the time I bet you he would be without a job right now.

  • sws94

No. Pop doesn’t do that. He makes his players synergistic and some of them have to play below their potentials for the good of the team. Not everyone on SA is playing the higher roles they did on previous teams at all. And if Lin went there, his role may be far less than some of us would hope for.

  • vincent

yes but what about ish smith shining? It is obviosu the 76ers are implementing MDA style basketball

  • TTNN

I thought that was CHA radio, he was on radio right after game.

  • Joe what do you know

I’m indifferent over those 2…. Neither of them empowered Lin much….

  • Alain Gervais

Hornets put a lot of bets on this year. Marvin is a must. Lin is a must. Al leaving will open up the money pool. Batu is not a max player but he will get a few million extra then what he is currently getting. If I’m Hornets i keep the squad as is. Look for a blocking center

  • TTNN

    Highlights from JUN LIU πŸ™‚

  • sws94

Some, not everything. That offense still isn’t MDA. He’s influenced it but he’s still not the one who is ultimately in charge of substitutions, lineups, making adjustments and so forth.

I don’t like the 76ers because they aren’t a mature team. They can be a really good team in 3 years or so, but it’ll take that long. I like their spirit and such, I like Noel, but they just need experience. Lin is playing with some very talented players now in Batum, Marvin, Lee, MKG when he played, Kemba to a degree. Those guys all have the BBIQ of Lamb and Kaminsky, not Marvin and Lee.

  • cdblue10

If they want to cash in and be smart, they have to trade Kemba and that’s the easiest route.IMO they can afford to let Kemba go but not Lin otherwise they will go back to mediocrity since other teams in the East will also upgrade their line up.East now is the new West.

  • Alain Gervais

That Lamb deal was very stupid. If they lose Lin Mark my words it would be stupid. Ofcourse I’m talking from the hornets stand point not Lins

  • Win

I get the sixth man concept like andre iguodala for example. But after Lin signed at a discounted rate last year, they will have to give Lin at least10 mils 2-3 years contract in order for Lin to stay.

  • Alain Gervais

Al is 13.5 million off the books

  • Alain Gervais

    Hawes good bye

  • cdblue10

Actually Lin would stay for 7-8 mil if they just treated him right.

  • sws94

MKG and Kemba, no way. Hawes is someone they would trade. And I don’t know what they’ll do with Al, probably he’s expendable. They want Batum, Kemba, MKG as their big 3 but Lin is really important to the Hornets too.

  • John Focker

The Lamb deal is because his agency is the same as Kemba’s and Al’s. Excel Sports Management has got CHA by the marbles.

  • your son’s voltaire

that much is true. MDA quit not once but twice just to avoid politics and catering to the star players

  • Alain Gervais

Yes, but no one would believe that there’s an NBA player who’s not money-hungry. Dolan sure didn’t, and neither would MJ.

  • cdblue10

Would Jeremy Lin – expected to become a free agent (player option) this summer — consider returning to the point guard-needy Knicks? “I am having a lot of fun where I am at,” Lin said. “I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself. I just don’t want to let free agency affect my focus. I haven’t spoken about it, I am not thinking about it and I just want to ride this one out. This is a special season for me.”

His shooting coach has been practicing shooting with him before every game so that might be the main reason why. If so his shooting coach might have to follow him to every game from now on until the muscle memories are totally ingrained.

  • Joe what do you know

I haven’t looked at his ankles closely so I didn’t know he’s got braces on until someone mentioned it. Anyhow, it’s very possible that is what’s helping Lin with his overall balance, thus improving his shooting quality. I’d also like to see Adidas give him a pair of Boost foam kicks. I just can’t stop raving about them… I’m sure the Boost foam will help Lin avoid aggravating his ankle injury…

Disagree if a coach genuine liked a player (Mchale and Parsons) he would find ways to treat him well when the stars are resting. In fact Parsons was allowed to stat pad even more so than Harden against 2nd unit to boost his contract year value.

ESPN First Take – Spurs Stumble After Win Over Warriors

  • sport

You then to forget that the Knick had many young players as well when Lin played there. It’s a no brainer that Lin would choose a team featuring him as starting PG vs a 15min bench role when everyone’s healthy. Don’t forget Hornets are only doing well because of Lin. Like Rockets and Knicks, Lin will make their players look talented and then collapse after he leaves.

  • LAJane

Well they would have those issues if they could. Human nature tends to get selfish when push comes to shove. It’s just that soccer requires guys to spread a vastly larger field so they really have no choice but to work together, and you can’t sub out to coast while others fix your messes because you can’t get back in the game again. Iso can’t function – teamwork rules.

  • Lefon Jang

    Welcome to the club!

  • LinMad

Hornets will have to start thinking about how to keep Lin. I think they screwed up by viewing him as a rental. It’s like Jenga for them now as the season is about to end. They can lose Lin, Marvin, Batum, etc. All important pieces but all they’ve been focusing on was one of the pieces that helped keep the structure together (Batum) instead of the piece all the way at the bottom that really held the structure together (Lin).

I can see the Hornets losing Batum next year and would still do well because Lin would get to handle more PG duties. But if they lose Lin …defense, team play, play making/floor general, court vision, competitiveness/drive, etc. will all take a hit. I’m not saying that Batum isn’t needed, he is but I think Cliff putting Batum on a pedestal and trying to paint him as a max player that can do anything throughout the season was a big mistake. It’s the same feeling I get from Lamb trying to do more than what he should do. I think Lamb should stick to rebounds, catch and shoot and not playing point or dribbling too much. Same with Batum. Batum can assists here and there but should give more of that to Lin.

If Hornets lose Lin, they might have to tank next season. Considering that they are hosting the all star game next season, that would damage their brand and it will be impossible to repair. I also don’t see anyone (out of state or out of country) being hyped about Charlotte if Lin is gone. You really think the fans are drawn in because of Kemba? I think Lin is really the reason why this franchise has sold out games. Why they get so many sponsors from China/Taiwan. Why the fans on twitter talk about them.

They need to have their best face on next year and you can’t do it without Lin. The main reason the season was so successful this year for the hornets was Lin after all. I know people will say it was Kemba, but since when did Kemba shoot this well? I think Jeremy Lin had some sort of influence on Kemba this year too. A little friendly competition on who can outshine each other. But Cliff shut that down and FO viewed Lin as a rental instead.

  • LAJane

On the lighter side…Jeremy was slicking that long flopping hair back a couple of times, and then had to wipe his hands off on his shorts. Oh that hair product. Dwight Howard didn’t need to use stickum…just more hair gel πŸ™‚

Lin will be diplomatic while he’s a Hornet. But when free agency arrives, all bets are off.

We already know that Lin and MDA have talked about reuniting, so I really hope they’re cooking something up. Brett Brown got only a cheap 2yr extension and Jerry Colangelo was brought in to “oversee” Sam Hinkie.

    – Will MDA and Colangelo take over? It’s certainly possible, but if they don’t take over, then Philly is out for Lin. Sixers have so many draft picks and young bigs, they can easily draft or trade for a PG who isn’t Asian.

    – Will Brooklyn call Lin? Nets GM Sean Marks is a Spurs guy and Lin just whooped the Spurs AND Nets in back to back games. Unlike Philly, Nets have no draft picks and almost no trade assets. They also have $$$ problems with poor attendance, ratings and merchandising. Lin would be perfect for them. But who will Marks/Prokhorov hire as coach?

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Good analysis of Sixers and Nets current status. To me, it’s still too early to make any speculation. Things still can change in the next 22 days + playoffs. No doubt JLin will opt out from his current contract. Which team he will sign is anyone guess. Lin is just concentrating on the next 11 games plus playoffs, I will do the same. My only wish is I don’t want to watch JLin plays in Knicks if Melo is still there, Rox if Hardin and DM are still there, Lakers if BS is still there and Hornets + any team/orgs that has ballhogs/liar gm, coach….. I believe JLin will make his best decision on teams that want him to do…….. He knows more all those inside matters than anyone of us.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • zxcvb

I don’t think there’s any chance of Lin going back to NYK while Melo is there. There’s lots of bad blood even if Jeremy is too classy to air that dirty laundry.

Even if Melo demands a trade, I’m not crazy about Lin going back to the Knicks with Dolan still the owner. MDA reunion is always the #1 option. #2 is playing for a teamball coach in Brooklyn.

  • Rick Johnson

On the Spurs highlights does anyone know the name of the song they play at 2:54? Always hear it near the end of games when the teams are winning and at college football games.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Really?..When did he start wearing the brace?…I’ve also noticed less slips.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

The way Lin talks about his teammates makes me very nervous..He sound like he’s really enjoying being around this group of players and I wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to return.

I’m against Lin returning to Charlotte next year because I fear his minutes may be reduce with the return of MKG, but the fact that Lin was willing to re-sign with the Lakers and Byron Scott tells us that Lin doesn’t like moving that much.

This situation in Charlotte is better than the Lakers experience and he loves his teammates…Lin may also be tired of moving and having to learn a new system + meshing with new teammates.

SO don’t be surprise if Lin comes back..I’m sure the Hornets will try hard to convince him that he’s a role player and should just accept being a back up for the rest of his career…I ope Lin reject, by I fear he may favor finally settling in instead of moving once again.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes, that’s right about Dolan. Not sure about their system is good for JLin’s playing style anyway. Yes, after following JLin for 4 seasons, I really would like JLin to reunite with MDA where he is the head coach. Otherwise, the history repeats itself, eg Silas.

What question was Clifford asked for him to say this?…Was the reporter trying to insinuate that Lin should start??

If so, than I can understand why Clifford would say that…It is clear that Lin wasn’t going to start for the Hornets, no matter how well he played during pre-season.

I hope Lin can find a team that would at least let him compete for a starting role next year, but he was clearly not promise a starting spot in Charlotte…So maybe he was simply telling the reporter about the role Lin signed for when he join the Hornets.

Post game, if Clifford is going to protect his franchise players and defend his starting lineup — you know… “because they make more money than him and can get him fired” — he should at least get his facts straight. Lin has NOT been a bench player “for most, or the majority of his career.” And “thanks” for trying to pigeon-hole Lin. At this point, including with the Hornets, Lin has started in more games than come off the bench: 181 games vs. 179. And before the Hornets, Lin had started in 49 more games than off the bench.
Lin’s market value has increased tremendously after his amazing performance against the Spurs, and by also showing GMs what he can STILL do as a starter by leading the Hornets to victories against the conference leading Cavs (24pts/5rebs/8asts, without Kemba), and the Raptors (35/4/5) earlier in the season.

Just love this pic v. Spurs (still confident after all he’s been through):

  • KHuang

If Lin were TRULY featured in the offense, what would his statline be?

Last game, I think Lin would have had 28 points and 6 assists in 30 minutes if he had not been iced out for like 8 minutes straight.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! That’s true. Bc last night it’s for Batum to be the leading score player.

  • KHuang

Stupid Batum ended up wasting away the 10 point lead.

But the funniest thing to me was that BACKFIRED like it usually does.

That’s because guess who had to make 2 free throws to seal the game, thus winning the game and getting over 20 points? Mr Frozen Pop himself, Jeremy Lin!

  • CJSHYY

I think next season w/o Lin, Hornets’ two top players Batum & Kemba will not be able to lead their team to playoff like this season w Lin’s help.

  • joyce ward

I just watched the videotape on what Cliff said about Lin being a role player in Charlotte and most of his NBA career, and I have to say that, he didn’t say anything that wasn’t true. I am no fan of Cliff because i believe he is an inept coach and finds himself way in above his head in most games, and he doesn’t know how to use his players correctly in those situations. I think Lin was brought in to do what they wanted Lance Stephenson to do last year, but Stephenson couldn’t get it done. I know that Lin wants to be a starter in this league, but the league’s view on lin is not that of late. It doesn’t matter that both his starting positions were taking away by inept coaches, but the narrative is out there about lin. lin once said himself that he would like to become a Genobli type player in this league. If you look at it, the Big 3 in SAS at one time was Duncan, Parker, and Genobli. Also Lin will be 28 years old in August, so with that being said, is there any team where he could start as a PG, maybe Philly, but MDA is not the HC there. MJ is a very astute businessman and he likes the fact that the hornets are selling out home games and it is not because of Kemba, it’s because of Lin. This game that Lin played with Brooklyn told me that FO has spoken to Clifford about him making Walker/Lin work as a team. I think that losing that Denver game on a humbug probably got Cliff in trouble after he took lin out after lead the comeback only to insert Walker in to lose the game. I also think that Walker is getting a wake up call that he is a one-dimensional player and doesn’t have the bball IQ that lin has to make the right play in clutch situations. Walker/Batum clutch plays always look like desperation plays that have not been thought out very well. In the end, it will be lin’s decision to stay or go in Charlotte, but I myself don’t want lin to be a journeymen in the league, looking for something that the NBA will never give him. I know that this probably not going to be a popular post, but it is what is.

  • KHuang

No, Clifford was simply telling the reporter that he doesn’t consider Lin skilled enough to start in the NBA regardless of Lin’s recent MVP level production.

  • KHuang

    Of course.

That’s why after the Hornets eject Lin by replacing Lin’s roster spot with a higher wage less producing PG in order to convince Lin not to exercise his player option, Clifford and the Hornets will learn why I call Lin COACH KILLAH!

  • Brent Yen

    We are #ALLin !

  • KHuang

    Great post.

What’s infuriating to Lin fans is that when a nonAsian NBA player produces well off the bench – and nowhere as much as Lin has produced – that player is always elevated to a starter position.

Lin is facing the same “bamboo ceiling” that all Asian Americans face in the workplace. That’s the American workplace mentality that an Asian may not be permitted to ascend to a leadership position.

  • Brent Yen

    Bamboo ceiling….lol…..

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Really?…That is baffling that a coach would say that about any of his players….Most players would like to start and believe that if they play well enough there’s a chance they could start…A coach saying that about a player could be demoralizing to the specific player.

If Clifford really stated it that way, than Lin should definitely leave this summer…That statement shows that Clifford doesn’t think much of Lin….

I, myself, never liked the fact that Lin could never be the starting shooting guard alongside Kemba, no matter how well he played…Instead Cliff had guys like Hairston starting…We all know that Lin should had started instead of Hairston since he played much better in pre-season game.

  • Brent Yen

I agree with KHuang, he definitely has implied that…

  • joyce ward

Also, looking at this team going into the playoffs, who has playoff experience on this team: Batum/Lin. The coach doesn’t have play off experience, so I ma sure MJ/Cho are looking at that too.

  • Brent Yen

Cliffy made the playoff for once I think

  • JJ Hui

    Lol Cliffy!

  • CJSHYY

I am not happy about Cliff on Lin’s bench role most of his career comment but can understand why he said so bc when touch subject about starting PG in Hornets…he has to make Kemba happy since he’s their guy no matter how many Lin’s fans or some of the reporters think Lin is better than Kemba ….. like Cliff said he has to make his player happy to keep his job. I think most of NBA coaches like this.

I don’t think Lin will stay w Hornets. IMO, he’s just like a consultant & firefighter to this team. Hornets changed the way they played for more fast break, 3P shots… it’s all bc Lin. That’s the way he likes from Rox. Lin said yesterday… ” This is a special season for me.’’ I believe he will have teams want him & he will start next season. But the team I think he will go it’s not popular in here either. My guess it’s Lakers. Haha! Well, we will know pretty soon.

  • Sesshie

That’s okay. His opinion won’t matter soon, and much sooner if the Hornets exit in the first round of the playoffs. For now, each additional game where JLin plays well is good for showcasing for his offseason.

  • Brent Yen

oooooops did not realize this, let me edit it…lol

  • sws94

Not necessarily. There are non-Asian players that play great that aren’t seen as starters because they are more of a team weapon off of the bench. And some starters went to the bench. Igoudala went to the bench, Manu has come off of the bench for years. Not all bench players and not all starters are created equal. Some bench players are treated as bigger impact players and play in critical moments that some starters don’t. And some coaches really do think of how players in a starting lineup work together, not always putting their best 5 in the starting lineup.

Lin could be a starter but I don’t see him as an elevation necessarily. And I couldn’t care less about the starting lineup announcements, those over-the-top darken the stadium introductions started in the playoffs and went to the regular seasons maybe 15-20 years ago, it hasn’t always been the case.

I don’t know why but I’ve watched basketball for years and when a player was on the floor and did well, I noticed him, starter or not. Guys like Novak and Jefferies on the Knicks I sure noticed but I didn’t notice or care if they started or not. Someone else wrote what I did, what’s important are starters minutes and closes games, not much different than starting. And that delayed entry into the game empowers that player to change the energy and flow of the game and impact it more than if he started.

I’m not going to comment on the Asian part of it because you feel that immediately where I don’t. Players are role players, most of them. Than in of itself isn’t a bad thing. Nor is playing off of the bench. My measuring stick is still is this player in the game at crucial junctures of the game and quite often, Lin is.

Lin has definitely turned into the X-factor weapon for Charlotte. That’s how the Rockets wanted to use him second season, that’s how the Lakers started to think of him, that’s how Charlotte may have thought of him all along and that may very well be how he is thought of by the majority of NBA playoff-level clubs going forward. Because most of us think differently and want him used in one specific way doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways he can be used as a basketball player and, as you said, a guard. I think he’s a facilitating, penetrating, scoring guard who is PG minded but seen as more versatile than that by the league.

  • CJSHYY

I think Lin will play more min in playoff bc they know if they want to get the W they have to use Lin.

  • Sesshie

Clifford’s words are not unexpected, as demonstrated by his actions throughout the season. He’s somehow allergic to putting JLin in the starting lineup lol.

  • sws94

Lin didn’t actually say he’d like to become a Ginobilli type of player. He said their games were quite different. He said he’d like to model his approach in coming into games off the bench.

  • BobbyH

With the season near end, we now all know the true color and the capability of our dear coach Cliff. He exposes his thoughts and mentality with recent comments:

1 He has to beg players that could get him fired to play harder. He said that in a joking tone but it has some truth to it.
    2. He said Lin’s role was and will be coming of the bench. A comment inadvertently slip out from his mouth with his misunderstanding about a reporter’s question. That’s what he think of Lin, a role player. At least under political context.

With above comments and Cliff’s coaching performance in these 71 games, guys, do you think he will be a NBA championship coach? The chance of that is equally the same as the chance of Walker being a MVP.

Do you think Lin will stay and play another year for this coach? Tired of being a journey man? Lin will stay b/c he is happy with his teammates? Lin will have to find another team in summer 2017 even if he stays for another year. And with MKG in the starting lineup, Lin’s PT will only get less and less. Just looked at the 2 games after Rox and before the Denver game. That’s painful to watch for us fans. Not to mention Lin’s feeling. Do you believe Cliff will give Lin 25 minutes (6th mam role) in every game next season even if Lin stay? You can fool me (and lied to me) once, but I will be fool to let that happen again. You belittle Harvard’s education.

We all underestimate Lin’s determination and goals. We know what they are. Do you think Lin will give up that goals and be content to be a role player with no starting promise in any near future? Do you think Lin will sacrifice his prime working fully for this inept coach? Worse case, I would rather Lin being a 7th or 8th man on Spurs. There at least Lin can fight the ladder with fair chance.

  • CJSHYY

Well, I think Lin said something like Jack from GSW role…in his first year exit interview when Clutchfan reporter asked him question… I think he wants to be a real starter to play more min & close the game. I don’t think he really wants to be a bench or 6th man just if no real starter PG then ….

  • sws94

All coaches know some players can get them fired but basically he didn’t beg players to get them to play harder. He asked them if they wanted to compete and appealed to their pride as players to play harder. Lin and others said in their post-game interviews that coach basically told them to compete, he didn’t beg them to play harder for real. That was a joke, and that’s all it was.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

As a starter, you get guaranteed minutes..Lin said it himself during a post game interview after the Spurs game…you have a longer leach and more time to get into a rhythm as oppose to coming off the bench.

When you come off the bench, your minute are somwhat restricted to how the starters are playing and whether you are shooting well yourself….If Lin comes off the bench and miss his first 3 shots, it’s very hard to get out of this hole in time to expand your minutes beyond the 20 minute restriction.

Lin only played extended minutes during the last 2 games because he was very hot…Anything less and he’s back to 15-20 minutes…So it’s no surprised that most players would prefer starting.

So in my opinion, you are wrong for trying to diminish the starting role..You speak like there’s no difference.

  • golfhacker

The bigs are killing Lin’s assist total. They only catch passes that are telegraphed to them. They don’t react fast enough for Lin’s passes.

  • Sesshie

I think JLin’s goal has remained the same, getting back his starting PG job. He will explore other options if that is unavailable, but I think he will try first. We’ll see if there are teams that will offer him his first option this offseason.

  • CJSHYY

Cliff just like Mc…. I mean they all listen to their boss what they should do on court. He’s not a smart coach but fits well w MJ. I don’t believe Lin will play for Cliff next season.

  • joyce ward

I disagree. I think Cliff is very much afraid of getting fired by the superstar players on the team. When he said that it spoke volumes about his confidence as a coach, and how he plays into the superstar attitudes.

  • joyce ward

It doesn’t really matter, because the implication was there of coming off the bench as a norm.

  • joyce ward

I don’t think that will happen. I think that if they want lin to stay, they have other positive weapons to get lin to stay, like Dell Curry. At the end of that Spurs game, which we didn’t hear but was posted in an article that Dell curry called Lin the son he wished he had. Also giving lin more touches and opportunities to play PG and more minutes with a good salary might induce him to stay. But if I were lin, I would get it in writing..LOL

  • CJSHYY

    I think so too.

  • HVJoy

What was said about Lin’s performance at Nets game (NBA.com game story):
    Batum:
“Jeremy Lin was huge for us,” Batum said. “In the third and fourth, he stepped up again for us. He did it last night in the second quarter to give us life, and he did it again tonight. I don’t think we would have won that game if he didn’t step up again for us.”

    coach Clifford:
“I think he (Batum) is just confident,” Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. “He made Jeremy Lin play really well again tonight. Courtney Lee played well again tonight, but Nicolas really made the plays with the game on the line.”

  • HVJoy

“He made Jeremy Lin play really well again tonight.”
So for this coach, all credit should go to Batum for Lin’s excellent performance in Spurs and Nets games?

  • sws94

And what did PJ do as a starter, how was his minutes? And why does Lin have more minutes than Cody I believe who starts? Cody averages 24.8 this season, Lin averages 26 for the season and is averaging 26.7 for his career.

We complain about Lin next to Kemba and his lack of touches. If Lin started, wouldn’t it be the same situation for longer? And when would Lin get the chance to change the energy of the game, wouldn’t it be the same when Kemba finally takes a rest in the 2nd quarter? And doesn’t that open him up to having more fouls in the whole game and sitting more because of it? I see little advantage of Lin starting at the 2 on this team.

Starting is more preferred and has some advantages but coming off of the bench also has its own dynamics and isn’t necessarily something bad. Lin does damage each way but from a team perspective, there are huge advantages of having Lin as a potent weapon off of the bench. All I’m trying to point out and have all season is try to see why teams would like Lin off of the bench vs. starting regardless of his better stats as a starter. When it all comes down to it, playing well on the court matters most. Lin got the most buzz about how he played against SA because he played well, and few in San Antonio cared if he started or not. He dropped 29 on them, 15 of which were in the 4Q.

  • CJSHYY

Well, after Cliff’s comments lots of Lin’s fans are not happy… let’s read some happy comments now…. haha!

  • spiderman

    Stating the obvious but true

  • CJSHYY

Haha! Batum is their guy in the future. I like Batum & I hope he can make it to ASG next season. Kemba maybe will fight hard w him then….LOL!

  • sws94

Batum was the best player last night with Lin as a very close second. Batum played a solid game last night and made a bunch of big plays/shots. I don’t think he’s a max player, though. And I’m glad to hear him acknowledge how vital Lin is to the Hornets wins. Those are good comments from Batum.

  • CJSHYY

I don’t think Batum is a max player either. Well, he will be #1 guy in Hornets next season.

  • HVJoy

Fans may be more upset if they saw this comment from Clifford on NBA.com game story.

“He (Batum) made Jeremy Lin play really well again tonight.”

    http://www.nba.com/games/20160

  • Epie

    Whhaa Whhaaa Whaat?

  • spiderman

    Never say never….

it’s okay to aim for the best

  • DX

Why he doesn’t say Lin made Batum and all team play well

  • BobbyH

What Batum said was supposed coming from Cliff’s mouth. Cliff only squeezed “Lin played well” and it came only asked by a reporter.

  • HVJoy

It angers me that the coach gave credit only to Batum for Lin’s excellent performance in Spurs game.

  • CJSHYY

Batum is their future #1 guy & they tried hard to push him as a star by use Lin’s attention from media…. smh! It will not work after Lin is out of Hornets no one will care about them again.

  • BobbyH

Guess who will be let go first next season? Cho or Cliff?

  • CJSHYY

Cliff will stay but not sure about Cho…

  • Win

Exactly. It is very disrespectful. Let just hope Lin can shine in the final 11 season game and playoff game. So that he can sign with another team next year.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

That’s sound very condescending to say that Lin only played well because of Batum….What Clifford is always going out of his way to diminish Lin’s good games?…That’s very weird that a coach would feel the need to do that to his own player every time that player has a monster game.

my guess is they don’t like the fact that the media seem to love it whenever Lin has one of his Linsanity games.

  • sws94

These aren’t quotes for the Spurs game, they are for the Nets game.

  • CJSHYY

No matter what he said but no media think so only Cliff himself… LOL!

  • Win

Hopefully Lin will be the first to go.

  • Yascar

Mel, I don’t really want to get into this argument because it was a foolish thing to say and shouldn’t have been said. But the logic in the tweet is wrong because every time Jeremy was not played at GSW and before Linsanity in NY, it was because he was counted as a bench player, like Troy and Tyler are now. Counting those games that are DNP because Jeremy was third string at the time, Clifford is actually right – Jeremy has spent most of his career at this point off the bench. Not that it matters because he was still undiplomatic, but it is a little strong to say he is an outright liar.

  • Martin Chong

for BOTH games. He said “AGAIN”

  • Lefon Jang

Lin was being political when he said that. He knew he wasn’t going to start over Steve Nash in LA. His intention has always been a starter. With his improved defense he’s a better player now. Hornets brought Lin in to run the second unit but there’re a couple of teams out there that could use him as a starting PG.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Didn’t Cliff say lin can be a starter in this league early in the season?

  • Martin Chong

    can’t agree more!

  • Linzenness

I wonder if Clifford told Lin he understood Lin’s game as a role player in most of his NBA career when they had dinner and Clifford was doing his “sales pitch”…that’s just..unacceptable!

Lin trusted the wrong coach in Clifford. Lin should leave Charlottee as soon as the FA starts…

  • takemeback2reaganyears

In recent and exposed KW shooting slump and horrible defense, the last thing Cliff would want to say is Jeremy Lin carries this team and can be a starter. But a good person would never put down another player of his team in order to make his guy look good. Like I’ve said before, only a snake would do those things.

  • KHuang

Stupid political quote by a dumbass coach.

  • Win

It should be the other way around

  • Linzen

It shows he is a total lying SOB. He lied then, and he lies now to diminish JLin’s market value. Just completely ignore what he says! Yup, I’m still in the haters club!

  • Bulldog

Kemba Walker is a good player, we root for Lin but not want to put down others. May Lin lands at a right place for him and show people what he can really achieve.

  • Win

Bottom line, the comment that he recent has on Lin is very unfair. I understand they wanna resign Nic and Kemba is the face of the franchise. But to take away Lin’s credit like that and label Lin as a bench player with out getting teh fact straight is just FXXK UP. To me, Clifford has lost all the credit. He is no different than McHale or BS except he was a sweet talker at the beginning and now just show who he really is and how he thinks about Lin. By that, he can go to h*** imo.

  • KHuang

    Sorry, I won’t do that.

I was a Walker hater long before Lin joined his team and I hate Walker even more now.

Any selfish defenseless scrub that cannot get it done against good teams, I dislike that player. Doesn’t matter if he’s Lin’s teammate or not.

I’ll continue to put down Walker and Melo and Harden and Kobe and any fake superstar SCRUB that stinks up the NBA with pathetic loser selfish play.

  • DX

Good thing is Lin can make easily decision and won’t regred leaving.

  • GoJLin!

Yes, JLIN just need the fair chance to shine! He been working so hard and stay focus with the positive mind; He look upon God instead of look around the man. It is so sad to hear his own coach’s unfair & discourage statements . Thanks NB to speak out the true & respect commands about his teammate JLIN; Clifford shall learn this from his own players.

  • Win

I am suggesting whoever have a twitter account should tweet to Pete Guelli, Hornets and Hornets PR to get the fact straight as Lin has started more than coming off the bench in his entire career before Hornets.

  • Win

And I am now officially a Clifford hater. That useless piece of XXXX.

  • Bulldog

Don’t fall into the victim metality. Lin is a winner.

  • xeroid

I agree with your opinion. If Charlotte offer Lin a bigger role and integrate Lin into the system I have no objection of him offer and accept a revised contract and stay in Charlotte. I think if Charlotte utilize Lin correctly they will go far in the playoff.

  • Bulldog

Just like D Howard and J Harden. Sometimes when you win , you lose.

  • xeroid

The problem is nor just starting or the total minutes, it’s very much touches and control. Lin can play 30 minutes, but if he is just staying on the corner not touching the ball, with the ball always moving in the other direction, then it’s a waste of his talent. If Kemba is willing to share the ball when he plays together with Lin like the last 4 minutes of first and fourth quarter, then there is no problem, otherwise it’s better for Lin to leave Charlotte.

  • xeroid

They may get to playoff next season as East is really weak, but will not go far like this season if they utilize Lin properly.

  • xeroid

They will go farther because of Lin factor despite the coach.

  • H

They hired Lin to make Kemba look good . Kemba himself is helpless.

  • CJSHYY
  • xeroid

Well if Lin goes to Brooklyn, Count me a partial season ticket.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

You must be good player to be in the NBA. Good player is not good enough to be team leader unless manufactured. You and most fans in Charlotte root for Lin and that’s good but I am not complaining about you and the fans just the damn coach.

  • CJSHYY

Not really. Last night they almost lose to Nets…. East is becoming better this year so it will continue to get better next season too.

  • Those with twitter accounts, let’s do our part to answer the poll question of “Jeremy Lin: Elite?”
    Currently it’s at 69%

  • sws94

I’ll just say I’m dedicated to following Lin. Not his coaches, not some of his teammates. Lin. Conditions around him are what they are. I believe that he can do what he did in the Cavs game and the Spurs game and Toronto and come up with moments in the Wizards game and Miami games because he has some sort of magic in him. He’s also very human and struggles as well. I know there are special conditions around him, that he’s Asian-American, that he faces unique challenges and forms of discrimination and racism, and I also know that his personality wins a lot of people over and he positively impacts many of his teammates he encounters and communities he’s active in. He seems special because he is special.

I know I don’t seem to care about some of the stuff you do because I want to see the higher good. Higher good feels better than resentment and anger towards others around him. I feel if it is healthy to vent, rant, then I understand it. But it isn’t healthy for me to engage in that much, more is just feeling the magic of Lin when it happens. And it happened Monday and a positive energy and feeling is in his play right now on the court and I feel it spreading to some of his teammates. And that feels good.

  • Tey Ling

The Hornets-Spurs game was also featured prominently (half page) in a popular Chinese newspaper in Malaysia.

  • sws94

I agree. I’m encouraged that Lin seems more involved and is getting more touches lately and hope it continues. It’s never ideal, but it is much better now than other times in the season.

  • HVJoy

    fair and objective!

  • GoJLin!

If Clifford only said JLin ‘s role is coming off the bench in CHA, Charlotte, I will not say a thing; but say that’s his role most of his NBA career; I totally disagree; according to the data; before CHA, JLIN play 291 games at NBA, 170 is Starter, 121 is reserve role; even including the CHA; up to today, he still play more games as a starter then come off the 2nd unit. Therefore so far STARTER is Lin’s role of his NBA career. So I respectfully disagree what you said “he didn’t say anything that wasn’t true”.

  • sws94

    Thanks.

  • Bulldog

Phil Jackson resents Lin by far. No way he will sign Lin back.

  • FreetheMind

It is a real term. I am surprised you never heard of it. Every Asian American faces that glass ceiling discrimination that’s commonplace in America.

  • cdblue10

    Gogogo!!!!

  • HVJoy

You are welcome. As fans, understandably we become angry when there are injustice, whether perceived or real, done to the object of our passion. Thank you for your insight and support of Lin.

  • CJSHYY

Really? Wow! So happy to see this again. Haha!

  • Bulldog

So Kamba is Prius people driving to offices everyday? Cliff had losers’ metality.

  • Amidst the upsetting comment from Clifford, I thought we didn’t discuss enough about what Lin said about his recent 3-game success #LessThought

I think this is a huge breakthrough because there is no STOPPING JLin if he keeps playing instinctively.
    Check out his stats.
    In 3 games, he shot 63% FGM (25-40) + 87.5% 3FGM (7-8) #Linsanity
    My goodness, that’s scorching hot!

If JLin keeps playing like this, no worries. The Hornets can’t afford to keep JLin next season πŸ˜€
    https://twitter.com/JLinPortal/status/712686466086735872

  • HVJoy

This makes me seriously consider getting a Twitter account.

  • Bulldog

Actually, KW’s metality is more suitable in the 6th man.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

How do you want to see higher good when you accepted Lin is a limit role player, weak ball handling not what today NBA look for as starter?

  • I thought this deserves its own thread to understand further how well JLin has played by relying on his instinct.

    I’ll create one soon

  • JoeTeam

Yay, Joyce! Let us see if the green light given to lin, to showcase his practice for shot, is going to be upheld. We all as people need leaders who will give us the chance and support us as we bring our game. I love how you read the tea leaves. It is what I want to see solidified from now until the end of the playoff run.

  • JoeTeam

bamboo ceiling is real. impossible to crack unless you hide everything about yourself, inside. It is done.

  • heart

She wants Lin to get used to and accept being a role player…Her comment on the other site implied that to me. There’s a definitely a ‘glass ceiling’ placed on Lin. In recent memory, I have not yet seen a bench player broke any franchise history records and won against top teams and still being pigeonholing to be a bench player and not offered a starting role…

  • Alain Gervais

Im the same way but to be honest its just a bet on percentages. Chances of thriving in charlotte long term verses thriving with a new coach and a new city at 28 in the first year of being there. Its Coaches need a lot of trust to put literally their job on the line for 1-3 player on a team. If those three players struggle you will likely lose. Being a coach is hard because its your livelyhood. It just seem to me even with what cliff said that he would more likely trust Lin at a higher rate then a random coach who is likely coaching on a contract year. Who heard about Insanity but haven’t heard of him since.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Exactly, being called bench does not mean he’s a career bench or belong there.

  • HVJoy

hum. I did not know there is a history as you stated, seldom visiting the other site.

  • heart

Yep. I always research before I agree w/ a person.

  • heart

That’s the narrative to the public at large that Cliff had put out last night in his post game interview. His comment sounded condescending and negated all the good work that Lin had done for Hornets and as an NBA player. Definitely that was his choice of words to decrease Lin’s value. In this season, which bench player had single-handedly led his team to win a game w/ 23pts down from #2 seeded team (Spurs) in the current NBA which had defeated a #1 team GSW? SMH! Cliff’s comment is very upsetting…

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Cliff clearly does not want what happened to MDA in NY happens to him.

And don’t forget Cliff even said Batum played great helps Jeremy play well. SMH.

  • CJSHYY

I just read the post from the other side said SWS94 is black (half black?) True?

  • heart

I think she said that. I really don’t care what race she is but definitely she sounds like two different persons w/ the same name…

  • CJSHYY

Oh! I thought she sounds very Asian to me…. Anyway, she’d already more modified her opinion on Lin in this side….

  • heart

Yep, went back to the other site and saw she had modified her comment… she’s exposed!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Record @ 71 games last season 30-41. This season 41-30.

  • Lefon Jang

sws94 didn’t say it in a bad way. What she’s saying really is we should all enjoy what Lin has to offer now whether it’s coming off the bench or not. I’m sure we’ll all jump in joy if Lin’s offer a starting role. But until then we should all stay in the present and be cheerful that Lin has brought us together with so much to talk about. I’m also guilty of criticising Lin’s teammates in particular Kemba and Lamb. The playoff is just around the corner. This is an exciting time so let’s not worry about whether he’s a starter or a bench player. We’ll have plenty of time to talk about that when the season is over.

  • Linzen

Because of a commitment last night, I could only read the box score and then went to bed late, but happy.
Then this morning… reading what coach cliff said about Lin… I was sooooooo furious! So, I posted a few comments here, but they were all banned (I guess they were deleted by Disqus?)…

I guess I used too many bad words to describe my feelings for this XXXX. LOL

  • rookie75094

    Sws94 is a she?…all this time I thought Sws94 is a he…lol

  • heart

We know about that poster today, don’t we?

  • Yes, Disqus (and mods) don’t like big bad words πŸ™‚

Just ignore Clifford. Now that we know he only wants to assign off-the-bench role for JLin no matter what (due to fear of getting fired by Kemba I’m sure), JLin is more likely to find a coach who believes in him next season. I’m actually happy with this slip-of-tongue since I was concerned JLin might stay and never truly realize his true potential at his peak age.

I mean, if we were JLin and his team knowing he can lead the Hornets to beat the Cavs and the Spurs while the starting PG can’t, wouldn’t he logically want to start somewhere else?

But I’l trust JLin and family to make the decision in the summer. I’m just glad the cat is out of Clifford’s bag so-to-speak πŸ˜€

  • sws94

No. I don’t care about labels like role player. Backup. I’ve said this already. These labels carry no weight to me. I think Kawhi Leonard is a role player. And one of the greatest Yankees ever in my mind is Mariano Rivera, not a starting pitcher but a closing pitcher. Greatness is greatness no matter what in my opinion.

If you haven’t seen a bench player break franchise history records then it will be even more the greater accomplishment if and when Lin does so as a bench player. If he gets the adequate amount of minutes to do it, it’s possible. I really believe in him and it matters not to me so much how he is on the court, just that he is on the court for a sufficient enough time getting sufficient enough involvement to do what he is capable of doing.

This isn’t acceptance of any lesser as you put it, it is a belief that he can rise above any limitation any outside party has of him and do what he’s capable enough. All I want from a coach is to put him on the court long enough so he can. What else that coach may think of him is his own limitations, not Lin’s.

  • sws94

His playing will determine everything when all is said and done and not the words of those that are not him.

  • sws94

I’m a poster here in this Lin community of fans. That’s all that’s pertinent.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Just found out sws is a she. I need to back off a little as we all shall have some respect for the lady.

  • donsmacau

In the big scheme of things, gender is irrelevant on these fan sites.

But I have never encountered a woman as combative and pugnacious as SWS, very little chance he is a she.

  • Sesshie

Clifford’s actions already implied that he didn’t see JLin as a starter on this team, but it’s always good to have words spoken directly by him so there can be no more delusion that this could be the team for JLin long-term if he wants to start. Things could always change but at this moment, we know JLin has look for opportunities elsewhere (which was probably JLin’s plan anyways before the start of the season).

  • JLin Fan from Australia

WOW! In Taiwan I can understand it but also in Singapore and Malaysia??? That blows my mind:-) Thanks for sharing the news both you and @teyling:disqus

  • Linzen

Yes, I understand. I am really okay with those being deleted. πŸ™‚
For Clifford, I know he has to pump up Batum & Kemba as per FO direction, but he really shouldn’t throw Lin under the TRAIN (not even under the bus). Career bench??? Come on.

  • CJSHYY

I know it’s she for a long time bc I am she too… just from the way she talked you can tell….

  • Sesshie

The world is waiting for Linsanity to return. It’s a matter of when, not if. We will continue to wait… until that next game again.

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

Seriously considering “pursuading” husband get on board to paying a handsome price to purchase really good seats (sections 100s in the center court side) to watch the Hornets v. Knicks game on April 6 at MSG. Leaving all the kids home on a school night. They’re all gonna want to come with us . . . Let me think about this. Will let you guys know.

All this speculation about different conspiracies, agendas, intentions . . . driving me crazy. I’m with @sws94. But I still want to know the truth! Jeremy, tell us!!!!

May have to wait for his book post-NBA, after he’s done coaching in the NBA/college.

  • JoeTeam

Just and idea … buy some cheaper seats mixed with your good seats, take turns, take the whole family. It will be an adventure. Use the saved money for family smiles, or JLin swag. They won’t forget it πŸ™‚ It’ll be like Disneyland with different rides all night. Also, I usually get their on opening to see warmups and it adds to the fun.

  • PPP

I’ll wait until April 5 to determine whether i want to spend thousand of dollars to see lin plays just 15 mins. lol

  • Alain Gervais

His choice will say it all. Lin is usually blunt in the offseason

  • donsmacau

Well, I can tell you are a she from your writing. Cannot from SWS94 – very masculine confrontational.

Now as we know in 2016 there is a broad spectrum of gender identity so it really doesn’t matter what you were born biologically speaking – it’s the words and action which determine where one falls on the masculine to feminine scale.

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

    true

  • kauaiblue

    What did he say?

  • Whitman Lam

I wouldn’t do that. It’s one of the last games of the regular season. The coaches will sometimes bench their key players to give them rest and not risk injury. Might be cheaper just to take a mini vacation to Charlotte and watch a playoff game.

  • heart

Understand your frustration/upset about Cliff’s comments. The effect of his words do have a negative impact and do get repeated in the NBA in general and specifically in coaching circle. That’s what so bad about this…

It’s better not knowing what he said… it’s better for your health this way. πŸ™‚

Exactly! After the myths like M&M’s “weak defender”, Kobe’s “soft player”, now this “career bench player”? This is just terrible.

  • JoeTeam

relax … Cliff was just being condescending to the report, just listen to the video yourself on nba.com. Don’t worry about Lin, this is not affecting him. The reporter was not clear in the question setup, and it got Cliff mad because it seemed like a leading question. You’ll hear it for yourself, it was more about the reporter than Cliff/Lin.

  • Sesshie

Yup, half-glass full mentality. I’m glad you agree… or disagree lol.

  • JoeTeam

    Per Lin, Less Thought.
    Enjoy the ride.

  • Linzen

Plus he had to say that Batum’s encouragement is why Lin played so well last night. Really?!! Batum’s encouragement???

  • Alain Gervais

I see the haif full part more with the hornets then in free agency. It just a difference in perception rather then a pessimistic view point

  • Linzen

hahaha… you are obviously more “zen” than me, JoeTeam.
I will try listening to it again.

  • heart

It’s the reverse! SMH! For at least 4-8 min straight Lin didn’t get touches in the 4Q playing w/NB & KW, after Lin helped led the come back…

  • Linzen

    EXACTLY!!!

  • CJSHYY

So are they all going to Cav, NYK, Heat, or Clippers?

Singapore’s main English papers headline says…”Lin sparks Hornets’ comeback victory” subheading “Charlotte overturn a 23-point deficit for 10th win in last 12, Spurs lose after six-game streak”

  • spiderman

lol – do they still sell the Linsanity ice-cream?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Well all gentlemen have their limit.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Not conspiracy at all, words from coach mouth and his actions are good enough to make our own opinions and of course speculations. It’s part of the fun.

I have been really trying not to post. Trying not to be continually upset at the prejudiced, biased, discriminatory, dirty, dishonorable NBA but…. The Clifford comments just will not leave my head…I can only hold out hope for JLin to start next year somewhere… and the sweet, sweet justice of JLin wiping the basketball floor with the Hornets’ carcass.

LOLOL Go ahead. It will be fun to see the fights who gets the ball more:-) That will be an epic to see!!!!!!

  • heart

    hahaha, good for you… true…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep I’m still boiling even after my sleep. Not a good night sleep as I woke up before 4am. Immediately my thought went to this. Guess it will stay with me for the rest of the seasons. My hope/prayer is that JLin will continue to do great until the season is over — 11 more games + playoffs. Hope then I will see JLin chooses a team with MDA as a head coach:-) That will be my best revenge to this coach and Hornets.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! It will very entertainment. I think LBJ probably don’t like his PF, SG, & PG from his team now…LOL!

  • CJSHYY

I think what I don’t like about Cliff not just what he promised Lin before season started can’t deliver & now he didn’t even give Lin the credit for what he helped this team so far… everyone thought it’s his good coaching skill to help Hornets from bottom to now maybe can be top #3 (the best) in the east for playoff? No, lots of game plan it’s from Lin’s idea… Rox style playing…. & now w that comment…. smh! Can’t wait to see how Hornets is going to ranking next season w/o Lin.

  • kauaiblue

Thanks heart! Sorry mod, but what a doushe!

  • kauaiblue

Nonsense. Clifford is just like mchale and scott.

  • CJSHYY

Lin vs Spurs game really helps him a lot bc lots of people probably already forgot Lin was that good in Linsanity. ( In fact, he’s better than Linsanity now) Haha! Really good for him.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I gave him benefit of doubt even after he started PJ rather than JLin…… His reason was just too much for me but I still gave him the benefit of doubt then even though my like of him went downhill. What really got me was the way he used JLin in court, the treatments JLin received after he contributed the wins…… Too many for me to count.

I saw the red flag as he just reminded me so much of KM, BS in most ways. Cliff is just too crafty/politician for many to pick up. Yes, JLin seems happier. I contribute this 90% to JLin works because of his faith/trust in Christ/God. Also it’s because JLin has gone thru very bad experiences esp his time with Lakers as well as Rox. Compared to these, Hornets seem like a “heaven” in some sense to him. I gave little credit to Cliff. The only credit I will give to him is he hasn’t DNP-CD.

  • vincent

lin was better against the spurs. less turnovers and more under control plus he played overall less minutes.

  • joyce ward

Cliff”s comments about Batum making lin work made him look pitiful and dumb. I think Cliff is trying to protect his decision for hypimg up Batum”s play and in reality he is just mediocre. I think Batum will go to highest bidder that offerd him a contract next season. I don’t think Charlotte is going to offer him a max salary. Also I bet what Cliff said about lim’s play got him in trouble. I am beginning to think now that Cliffs decision to play lin came from the FO because if he feels this way about lin, then why play him so many minutes. I don’t think Cliff’s job is as secure as we think it is

  • takemeback2reaganyears

You can expect and predict from BS and McHale but no way from Cliff. True finally out which I suspected since day one of the reg season.

  • heart

Thanks to you for alerting us of Cliff’s post game interview. I was about to turned off my computer when I saw your post yesterday. Like I said in many of my posts earlier in the season & now, we know a person’s motive by their action. In the early part of the season, some were wondering and questioning why Cliff’s words and actions didn’t match. Now they don’t have to wonder…With the pending playoffs berth and current success, I think his pride is showing… His words and actions actually do matched now as we have long suspected. So there should not be any more doubt on what’s Cliff think about Lin and how he uses Lin. Whatever Lin gets is just crumbs and Cliff’s needs to win. His words sum up his view that Lin is a career bench player in his eyes. That’s what I got from his post game comments.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/15047018/how-nike-lost-stephen-curry-armour

This is a very good read. Maybe Lin should have gone with Under Armour as well when he left Nike instead of going with Adidas. Some of these are very similar to the situation Lin was in and maybe this is why Lin is very close to Steph-on Curry lol.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Their loss on Denver game probably got him more trouble than we knew. Believe if Hornets didn’t win the last two games, they may be hard to hang on the playoff spot. The starters have lost all confidence and this was clearly seen in first quarter of Spurs game. They looked so defeated as the score (28-7) portrayed their mindset. As Batum said, JLin gave them life. Batum knew who has rescued him and the starters. Cliff and Kemba are just too blind/fear to even acknowledge this. Sad!!! Cliff wants so much not needed JLin but he can’t. JLin saves his butt many games this season esp these crucial games but he refused to look at it that way.

Less Thought Is the Secret of Recent Linsanity Success
    http://www.jlinportal.com/less-thought-is-the-secret-of-recent-linsanity-success/

After having a horrible shooting slump (32.5% FG% and 25% 3FG) after the All-Star Break which coincided with reduced playing time due to the arrival of Courtney Lee, Jeremy Lin had posted an impressive shooting numbers in the past 3 game with 63% FG (25-40) with an unbelievable 87.5% 3FG (7-8)

In the 3/22 post-game interview after JLin scored 21pts following his 29pts/7rebs Linsanity performance to beat the Spurs, Jeremy was asked what his train of thought on the recent 3 game success. He pondered about it for a second and answered, “Less Thought”. He explained that 3 things:
    1. instinctual play,
    2. letting go of trying to think too much to force the shooting mechanics and
    3. trusting God
have helped him to play better.

A Spike in the Shooting % Trend
If we looked at his shooting % trend in this 2015-16 season, this spike of 62.5% FG and 87.5% 3FGM in the limited sample size of 3 games have been the best period, which might signify the beginning of a breakthrough following the worst period after the All-Star Break after his playing time was reduced with the arrival of Courtney Lee. It remains to be seen if he can carry through the high performance for the last 11 regular season games and the playoff.

Of course, a more reasonable shooting % would be above 45-50% FG and 35% 3FG with 12+PPG especially when JLin works hard to establish on-court chemistry with Kemba Walker so both can perform well on-court.

Will Jeremy Lin be able to continue his high-level performance even when Kemba plays better? We can only hope and pray that it would be the case as he would like the Hornets to create something special in the playoff.

A deep playoff performance with Linsanity performance will be a win-win scenario for the Hornets and JLin’s offseason Free Agency. More NBA teams (including the Hornets) will offer bigger role and higher salary which works to show NBA Team’s investment in a player and how he will be used.

Welcome. I saw that tweet but I tried to ignore it for about 10-15 min. The more I thought about his comment, the more it got me. Normally I dislike to post this kind of tweet here but Cliff’s comment really got me. Hence…… Almost a day later I’m still boiling…. No wonder I didn’t get a good rest. I’m going to pay the price later on….

  • Alain Gervais

Lin won’t go to a random place and start. He needs a place with a steady coach and a competent coach. Most places he will find that won’t be much different from charlotte

  • jolno

Some people gave you good first impression when you first met them. But as you get to know them more and more as time goes on, you end up wanting no no part of them.

Cliff may have been able to give Lin a good impression when they first met, but by now I am pretty sure Lin already knows him In-N-Out. This also explains Lin’s reaction to Cliff’s barking at him the other night.

  • Here is the JLin 2015-16 Shooting % Trend showing the recent spike

  • heart

Saw a clip of Cho’s face, he was at the game. Don’t know if Cho talked to Cliff or not but anyone without preconceived view of Lin watching that game knew that was a bad move on Cliff… KW/NB couldn’t even carried the win… Nuggets was a winnable game until Cliff took Lin off the floor while he was hot and got the lead for Hornets. This has happened more than one time, not just this game…

  • GoJLin!

Oh, it certainly not worth to lost the sleep because Clifford’s unkind words; we shall learn from JLIN, have more faith in God; if HE let those things happen in JLIN’s career, there must be something HE wants JLIN and us to learn. I believe JLIN will pray to God to help him to make the best decision. Even things did not turn out the way we like, I still believe God love & care about JLIN more than we can imagine!

  • Wandais38 .

what is even more ridiculous is the person that cliff was trying to hype up(batum) came out and spoke the truth and said lin is the one that got them going.

  • Joe what do you know

Really? He said that? What a load of dung!

  • That’s a keen observation, Joyce.

You’re right that Clifford is definitely trying to hard to over-praise Batum in hope of him resigning.
Clifford might be in the hot seat if he doesn’t reach playoff and has good showing

  • Don’t worry too much, @disqus_dVLDET9zJ7:disqus πŸ™‚ It might make you physically sick. It’s not worth it.
Let’s focus on JLin’s unconscious Linsanity mode now

The way I see it .. it’s only a short-term partnership at the moment since JLin is not in the Hornets long-term plan.
Let’s hope for a great Linsanity playoff performance so JLin and MDA will reunite next season and everything will take care of itself. That might be the best-case scenario

  • probably not πŸ™‚
but who knows when it might come back in the future hehe

  • JoeTeam

I gotta be zen about what’s on my computer screen, my doggie friend, because you know, I got enough behind me here to keep me busy lol.

  • John Focker

This Andy guy from a TW blog site correctly “predicted” Lin’s breakout vs the Spurs one day before the game. Must’ve caught wind from your logically theorized F/O vs. coach conflict. It holds a lot of water! The pattern in the past has been that after each Linsanity game Jeremy would be “iced” (the two OT wins over Kings, Raptors, Cavs), but the Nets game broke that mold. Hopefully sign of change to come. Hornets are currently three Ws short of franchise record (Bobcat days) and are VERY likely to make playoffs, which can be a great motivator for the higher up to unleash Linsanity regardless of whether he returns next year.

  • sport

I agree, the fact that Lin wasn’t iced out last game says it’s a FO decision, coupled with all the proof that Cliff is a Lin hater with his dumb answers in interviews. Pretty sure MJ wants to make far into the playoffs more than hype up Kemba as star right now. They have all the time next season for that once Lin leaves.

  • sport

This has happened on every team Lin has been on minus Knicks. Lin regains the lead and is benched or he gets hot and is benched. Not sure what happened but I’m glad Hornets FO finally came to their senses and put Cliff and Kemba in their place.
