G70 LAL @MIN Game Thread

This is another “Must-Tank” game which Lakers definitely needs to lose to move up in the Great Tanking Race to get Top 5 NBA draft. Expect Lakers to pull another “TankMove” like 3 min with small lineup w/o true center in early 4th quarter to allow minimal defense as @TTNN correctly pointed out

Let’s hope Jeremy continue his aggressive, strong plays despite Byron’s effort to hide Ed Davis away from Lin to ensure the tank and allowing opposing teams to score.

Go Jeremy!

    hehehe

  • man, you’re on a streak like Lin lately 🙂
You had 1st “hehehe” like 3 out of 4 games

Must be Top 5 in PER by now

I wander how lin is doing with his sinuses?

  • BobbyH

    ……….

  • joyce ward
  • CJSHYY

Haha! Right now you can’t say Lin’s D is bad. LOL!

  • Brent Yen

Is that allergy or….he is really sick? or maybe both? He seems ok in that interview tho

  • joyce ward

@JLin7 03/24/15 OKC Thunder vs. LA Lakers. Enjoy the photo slideshow below. (

  • linspiredinla

Just tweeted Mark Medina. No update yet.

  • LAJane

    LOL

  • joyce ward

I think it is mostly allergies. Also I was lurking on CF and I saw a post from Beverly’s agent stating that Beverly wants to resolve his injury because he is looking for signifcant pay increase with Housto or someplacelse..LOL

  • Brent Yen

    Good luck with that

  • Brent Yen

LOL….just in the right place at the right time.

  • joyce ward

I think it is so funny that the narrative about lin was that he not a good player, and couldn’t defend, now it’s he plays to well, do we need to bench him so that we can continue to tank. In Lin’s prayer request, I finally realized that he is really struggling with losing. He said that God is showing him that it is not about the win, but the process. He said that he was also bombed about not being in the playoffs this year, but he will continue to play to win.

  • joyce ward

    OK, thanks:)

  • joyce ward

    Yeah..huh…LOL

  • Brent Yen

Yeah..winning is the most important thing which he finally realized he is not gonna able to do it with the Lakers..

  • joyce ward

So what teams do you see making him an offer?

  • Brent Yen

I think it will be more clear once the playoff is finished. Those contending teams who lost because of the lack of depth at PG position will peruse him. I believe he will be offered some backup PG contract for 2 yrs. Some rebuilding teams might try to give him a low offer for starting PG position.

  • 1mtoldman

didnt realize playing the minny’s already tonite; last game they only had 7 players available. probably to be the same 2nite

omg its college nite. $5 and a student i.d. will get u into this game.

  • Grace Nsns

wow! link or name of the thread?

  • 1mtoldman

timberwolves official site tweet: “tonite’s key matchup zach lavine vs. jeremy lin”

  • Grace Nsns

Beverley’s still considered borderline starting/3D PG by several teams probably at this moment, let them throw him max, lol. I don’t think rox would give him anything more than 3/4M, he’s 3 & D both dropped, his body’s quite fragile, he’s not starting material, even clueless rox fans realized this now.

  • What I like the best about Lin’s recent plays is the fact that he demanded double-teams that opposing coaches had to devise ways to contain him during half-time adjustment.

I believe this will go a long way for these head coaches to realize how difficult it is to neutralize Lin and he can be a weapon if they get him in their teams. That’s why I hope Lin will save his best for last in 2 final games against the Kings and Coach Karl.

The audition for NBA teams is down to 13 games now and Lin’s off to great starts! As long as Lin’s being a headache for other teams and the other teams talk about his names in the locker room a lot, I’ll be happy

Note: I see MDA is “unofficially” linked to DEN HC position soon but Ty Lawson is there so there might not be Lin openings. I hope Magic also considers MDA

  • 1mtoldman

well whats he getting paid now? i mean if hes only getting probably 1 mil. and with 30 mill extra coming out in the next year aftah. he will probably if he recovers get at least double that somewhere for a 2 year lock up.

  • 1mtoldman

i gotta repeat the one below; this is a major professional sports leauge and it has fallen to the level that two tanking teams, one with only perhaps 7 players available 2 play tonite and the other purposely mismanaged towards losing in a gesture validated by fans (perhaps not ticket buying home fans) can be seen for less than the cost of a big mac. smh.

    Mark Medina‏@MarkG_Medina1m1 minute ago

Paul Pressey confirmed he plans to stick with same lineup. So Boozer and Hill likely to sit unless for an emergency situation

  • CJSHYY

They want to loss that’s why DNP Hill & Boozer. But it’s really hard to loss since Mini maybe only have 7 players can play?! I guess Lin probably will cut short in 4Q playing time again for tanking purpose.

  • Brent Yen

Who knows, maybe a Clarkson v.s. Clarkson (Lavine) is also fun to watch…

  • CJSHYY

Is Lavine also ISO a lot?

  • Brent Yen

He certainly love to shoot (and dunk) IMO…lol

  • 1mtoldman

there was a note somewhere said hill and boozer were told b4 the road trip they would sit to give younger players a chance to show.

  • 1mtoldman

7 confirmed but some of the ones not available last game may be availalbe this game; but as of now only 7 full confirmed available. (they still beat utah without hayward with those 7 the other nite) .

  • CJSHYY

I think they will win bc Lakers doesn’t want to win. No matter it’s only 7 or more…

  • 1mtoldman

im just saying if they could beat utah even minus hayward is still a team trying to win and having the best record since the asg; then yeah no problem beating the trying to lose lakers.

  • linspiredinla
  • 1mtoldman

well he loves to dunk. for the season he hasn’t shot much; hasn’t played much but with his first actual opportunity to get prime playing time last six games yes his shooting #s (fga’s) are comparable to clarksons; but again you also have to consider that minnesota has been playing with very few players. someones got to take shots and really the only ones they have left available at the moment to shoot are pretty much wiggins and lavine.

there really isnt a large enuf pool of data to suggest a long term tendency not otherwise skewed by addtional atypical variables.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Boozer said in his interview that he and Hill were told to be DNP-CD for next 4-5 games to let younger players play.

  • Brent Yen

No I know….haha I am just saying that based on the raw feels about those 2. They seems similar..

  • ViNuyork

not about JLin but kinda related to him anyway…A class act by JLin’s Rocket friend….

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • JoeTeam

Heh heh, no lin dnpcd. I’m happy.

  • GoodDayLA

Hill sucks so that is good. But when you play Kelly at center and don’t use Ed Davis and use undersized Tarik to guard all the big men by himself (because Kelly sure can’t help much), what do you expect?

  • GoodDayLA

this is a guaranteed laker loss.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL BS doesn’t dare to anymore. JLin fans are too powerful for KB and BS to overcome!!!!:-)

  • GoodDayLA

backup PG on Spurs or Portland is tough to accept but still much better than being in LA subject to Kobe’s wrath depending on the day and time.

  • Rick Johnson

Timberwolves got any good bigs left? OKC bigs totally dominated Black and Kelly. Kelly spread the floor and allowed Lin and Clarkson more space to drive and they did but interior defense was poor so they had the high scoring loss. If Timberwolves bigs aren’t that good Black and Kelly could hold them they could win.

  • FrankW

More like punishment for that win over the 76ers post game Lin interview video-bomb. Killing two birds with one stone, punishment and tanking.

  • CJSHYY

It’s not matter bc Lakers wants to loss so Lakers will find a way to loss for sure. smh!

  • 1mtoldman

    multitasking

  • GoodDayLA

Lin will probably score 20 points again or get 15 assists tonight with low points. He will do well.

  • 1mtoldman

i dont know why nobody else here is amazed as i am that you can go to this game for $5. (with a valid college id.)–that to me is incredible and shows the sad state of affairs of the nba.

  • I’m tempted to tell Coach Karl that he’ll get a lot of new Kings fans if he recruits JLin in the summer LOL

  • hm, is that new price admission of “MustTank” game ?
Or it’s just for a special event to bring tanking to the college level? =)

  • GoodDayLA

games are cheap in middle america

  • 1mtoldman

wed nite college nite special. crazy.

  • JoeTeam

Well, the truth comes out and right is might. Esp if you are gentle with right.

  • LaVine made a 3, JLin almost returned the favor

  • CJSHYY

Can’t watch the game yet… who guard LaVine?

  • Clarkson.. which makes sense since they’re about the same height

  • CJSHYY

    They both play SG now.

  • Lin saw an opening and attacked the rim.. 2 FTs to follow

  • BobbyH

    2 pts

  • sport

Timberwolves sitting out so many players, also tanking purposely?

  • Grace Nsns

    made both, cool.

  • Grace Nsns

    Both teams tried really hard.

  • BobbyH

You meant coaches tried very hard?

  • Grace Nsns

    2pt, 2a, 1to, not bad.

  • The game plan for both teams are simple.. All Offense, no Defense
Who’s gonna come out standing over the Tank in the end?

  • Grace Nsns

    Your right.

  • sport

Could’ve scored if he didn’t slip on that TO. Don’t think the floor was slippery maybe Adidas shoes aren’t that good.

  • 1mtoldman

actually they are really legitmate in juries; they’re not fake; they had to pull up a d leaguer just to get 7 bodies for the last game. they may have 8 tonite or 9 but maybe not not sure who actually can play 2nite. but 7 to 9

  • yup.. good job by Lin to pick his spot.
Conserve energy, then attack on offense with speed if necessary

  • except for Tarik Black didn’t get the memo by blocking.
He might sit if he gets 3-4 blocks

  • sport

    Surprisingly, Lakers playing great defense!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Black will benefit from Jeremy and gets the confidence he needs. Good offense triggers his defense.
Lakers is playing teamball. Their assists is about 4 times as much as the Wolves.

  • That block by Dieng shows why you need a legit big. Dieng could leave his man and go for the block because he wasn’t afraid of any Lakers big.

  • stam

Black doing a nice job of cleaning up clarkson’s miss.

  • sport

JLin’s scoring not as good tonight hope he gets going soon.

  • sws94

    Clarkson is shooting too much.

  • Grace Nsns

    0/3 now, 🙁

  • sws94

That’s nothing. Be patient. Be happy.

  • stam

yeah, that block shot might have went in but dieng really elevated for that

  • I like how Black plays in both ends. Lin will definitely find him

  • Alaingrvis

    He will score

  • sws94

I’d rather him get hot in the 2nd half than first. Just keep the TOs down, get a few points and assists and play good D and then go off in the 2nd half.

  • Back to back seems to really affect Lin. He needs a legit trainer and get into 100% nba shape this offseason.

  • Brent Yen

The pts is, there might be no 2nd H

  • sport

Seems like JLin struggles to score every-time after a back to back, gotta figure that out.

  • Brent Yen

From below, it seems like lin is not doing great?….I can not watch it today…

  • IsabeliJane*17

He’s not doing great because he’s not scoring, per below

  • stam

yeah lin was fouled so badly and they didn’t call it.

  • beautiful drive by Lin. He had that dude on skates.

  • Nice one-on-one schooling by Lin on his defender for the easy layup

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    LED is on.

  • Grace Nsns

    finger roll lay up!

  • stam

i’m sorry you can’t watch it but Lin is playing aggressive. and he just hit a layup.

  • stam

DAMN that sucks, would have been an assist for Lin from davis.

  • LAL Announcer actually said, “Schooling” =)
My, how things have changed hehe

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The importance is to tear down the defense more than scoring.

  • stam

Lin is playing better without JC.

  • sport

Slow start, got 2FTs and 1 layup after the very end of 1st quarter. Just need to keep shooting to get into rhythm.

  • Ed has converted tough scores before, giving Lin assists. I’ll give him a pass for that one. 🙂

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Of course. JC doesn’t get others involved as much as Jeremy did.

  • he seemed a bit tired, conserving energy and picked his spots to attack
    must be B2B

  • Brent Yen

    Maybe just that sinus thing

  • yes, that could be a lingering problem for sure

  • stam

OH yeah, Ed is consistent lol.

  • 1mtoldman

    no surprise there.

  • Lin just played 12 in straight in Q1.
He does need to conserve his energy.

Overall, he plays well .. finding teammates, attacking the rim hard, schooling the defender.

  • sport

    Lin out now =/

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Once Jeremy was out. Minn took control of the flow.

  • our man needs some rest for sure .. usually starter back in around 5-6 min mark in Q2?

  • stam

WTF sacre with 2 buckets lol.

  • sport

Clarkson learning from Lin, get to the rim and then pass back out to the big for open shot.

  • sport

Lakers lead slowly chipping away with Lin out.

  • BobbyH

This wolf team is worse than 76ers.

  • 1mtoldman

same thing last game; he doesn’t even need to be out he just needs to have control of the flow ceded to clarkson.

  • sport

Yes very surprised but those were wide open shots, glad he made them. He’s shooting mid jumpers at the top learning bad habits from Hill of course.

  • CJSHYY

Right now who is PG? JC or Ellington?

  • 1mtoldman

only 9 man rotation; clarkson after big game nite will play with both units if wouldn’t have anyway. but lin will get time; ideally as much as possible without clarkson.

lakers have 9 guys; (by choice) minny 7 (not by choice)

lakers +2 in available players. should win. right?

  • Grace Nsns

It’s alright. Lin -20 yesterday invited so many haters.

  • sport

They are sitting alot of their best players cause they’re tanking!

  • stam

IF JC is their future starting point guard and kobe comes back… say goodbye to his numbers.

  • 1mtoldman

they only have 7 players available and 1 of them they brought out of the stands….but they still beat utah last nite (utah playing without hayward)

  • nodomo

Lin played the entire 1Q. Clarkson now in with Jabari Brown and the team looks in disarray…

  • 1mtoldman

again most of the minny players sitting are legitmate injuries.

  • sport

Oh really? I heard some players were in uniform but sitting.

  • That’s the #TankMove of the night
    Resting Lin

  • nodomo

yup, JC or anyone else won’t touch the ball once kobe comes back.

  • Brent Yen

    It is ok, that’s not Lin’s problem…

  • stam

i’m the biggest lin fan but to be fair, jabari usually plays with Lin.

  • sport

    JC

  • stam

damn i think davis got poked in the eye.

  • This is a must-tank game after the 76ers win debacle.
I’m sure Clarkson will be given “rebuilding” responsibility to ensure the tank by closing 4th
    That would be my guess

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The bench w/o Jeremy really sucks.

  • CJSHYY

So who is PG now? JC or Ellington?

  • BobbyH

    Sacre

  • IsabeliJane*17

Make it, the whole Lakers team without Jeremy is really, really bad.

  • CJSHYY

    What? For real?

  • BobbyH

Nah, joking. They took turn handling the balls.

  • stam

I wonder if they are planning on putting Lin back in this quarter.

  • So Pressey knows what he’s doing.. resting Lin to let MIN gain some momentum so they won’t fall behind by 10+pts

  • sport

Still wondering whether the announcers were serious about Kobe actually coming back for 2 more games. If so he’s just desperate for attention.

  • Grace Nsns

    no Lin yet? damn

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Strict order from Byron: loss the game.

  • stam

    Lin is in!

  • CJSHYY

Weird, Did Lin go back to court now? Why Lin is 1/5 now? I thought he is 1/4?

  • I’m thinking coaches want MIN to catch up or tie first so maybe 2-3 min left in Q2.
Or back in Q3 to give Lin more “rest”

That’s the only way to tank against this short-handed small MIN team

  • stam

    he got blocked 2x?

  • Grace Nsns

It was like that before he returned, I didn’tgot so see that either.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin in; no rebounding big man except Davis.

    Thanks Pressley.

  • stam

Wow that would have been perfect… that hit.

  • IsabeliJane*17

I did a double take, I thought that was Charles Barkley coaching the Lakers.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    DAvis blocking. 1st block.

  • Sir Charles’d have chicken wings with him :]

  • Kwok Wai Lai

3 guards offense to give more minutes to Jabrai Brown.

  • Briiick

Lin +11, highest of the team as usual.

  • stam

    that is called being unselfish…

  • Lin finding his best friend Davis again for the easy dunk

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This Q Lakers only behind by 2 points 19:21.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

4 assists before half. Good job Lin.

  • Lin with wrap-around dish for Davis 2nd easy dunk!

  • stam

Wow lin is giving everyone open shots, they are just missing.

  • joyce ward

    What is Lin’s stats

  • Lin would have more assists if these guys could make open 3s.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

LIN ATTACK THE HOLE OF DEFENSE WHEN GORGUI DIENG IS GONE.

  • stam

man Lin and ed davis killing it.

  • Lin 3rd straight assist to Davis!

  • YEAH! Lin picking pockets.

  • sport

Zach Lavine really shooting with lots of confidence.

  • IsabeliJane*17

    Yeah steal it…

  • made them look way too easy =]

  • sport

    Well everyone except Jabari Brown.

  • stam

I must have missed it but does Lin have 2 block shots? I saw the one with dieng which one was the other?

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    5 assists,6 pts,2-6

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Jeremy helps get Davis going to lead the Lakers with 8 points. 5 assists for half of the game; above his average already.

  • BobbyH

    Balanced FA across the team.

  • IsabeliJane*17

It’s fun seeing how the Wolves defense are slowly manning up against Jeremy AND Ed.That’s some recognition from Wolves coach.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    They give none to Lin.

  • sws94

Yeah, he has no problem shooting over Lin. Lin needs to make him less comfortable.

  • stam

I’m sorry i meant blocked attempts.

  • sport

Lin made a really slow dish to Ed Davis and the TWolves didn’t bother defending at all!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Lin was blocked twice.

  • CJSHYY

Remember the time & have the video so we can ready for NBA to correct it.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    He’s tall with long arms.

  • nodomo

+/- really tells the story. Lin leads team with +12. JC -3. Sacre -6.

  • Lin 6pts/5asts/1reb/1stl with highest +12 (shared w/ Kelly) in 17 min at halftime.
3 beautiful assist in a row to Davis #LinDavis

  • sport

+/-are misleading and not very relevant rather he made some points, rebounds, and blocks instead. Just look at how Lakers are hyping Clarkson without a care for his +/-

  • 1mtoldman

at some point lin went from 1 for 4 to 1 for 5 while he was out of the game it appeared. (im watching a glitchy illegal stream). that could be the added block. if its wrong im sure lin fans will get it corrected. but it appeared from my evidence that they added that fga as a 2nd bs while he was not playing. ???? someone with a better feed or as said below wait for the video.

  • Briiick

    Double double today.

  • stam

yeah i noticed that too. Lin doesn’t see him that much.

  • 1mtoldman

most of lavines points came off clarkson; when clarkson was in the game lin was on brown clarkson on lavine (even when lavine was guarding lin).

  • sport

I have a glitchy feed too, totally missed Lin’s last layup.

  • sport

    3 pointer!

  • stam

    So sweet!

  • Alaingrvis

That was a quick time out

  • sport

    Yup swoosh!

  • stam

Good defense leads to 24 sec violation.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Lin is scoring.

  • stam

    NICE another layup!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Bettern than the 1Q

  • sport

JLin getting to the rim like taking candy from a baby, TWolves not playing defense at all.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Shall I predict Linsanity now?

  • sport

Lin just layup them to death tonight.

  • BobbyH

“Jlin just passed thru 5 defenders, scoring easily”, said Stu.

  • LAL Announcer “Jeremy Lin just went through 5 defenders!”
    #TwilightZone LOL

  • stam

I hope they are just running a play and not changing tactics so lin can continue to penetrate.

  • sport

more like 5 tree stumps who didn’t bother defending whatsoever.

  • IsabeliJane*17

Hmm.. I get the feeling Wolves don’t defend until both Jeremy and Ed are on the the floor. Scared of #JerEd PnR?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Wiggins made a dunk. Clarkson and Lin answered with one hoop each.

  • sport

Zach Lavine is the only bright spot and rising star of TWolves.

  • Dan Cohen

whoa what just happened.. I came back late in the 2nd half and suddenly lin is 5/10 and 13 points. from 2/6 and 6points

  • Lin just became Linterested in the game :p

  • sport

one 3 pointer and several layouts.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I couldn’t believe that they don’t play Jordon Hill and Carlos Boozer. after Scott left.

  • Grace Nsns

He will be blamed for this win, lol

  • stam

that was a good foul from JC.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Clarkson TO, then Foul, then Missed and then fouled again.

  • Without them, it’s already 58-46 now ..
Lakers coaches need to figure out how to let MIN to come back w/o being so obvious

  • sport

Clarkson with the ugly shot, out thank goodness!

  • Beautiful pass by Lin. These Lakers need to convert these open 3s already.

  • sport

Lavine getting all the foul calls.

  • stam

i counted at least 3 WIDE OPEN shots.

  • stam

At least Lin isn’t the only one with an airball. lol.

  • sws94

Lin now is going to have to start going to the hole, too many long 2s.

  • sport

Wow nice move by Kelly, he really should get to the rim more often! He’s got the height advantage!

  • he just did. nice prediction! 🙂

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Take the Sacre out and put Boozer in.

  • Alaingrvis

    Sacre

  • Promo Sports World

    And just like that 15

  • Darn it Sacre, just lay it up.

  • Promo Sports World

    Sacre is mr tank

  • stam

LOl and win the game? no way.

  • sws94

Team is just cold from beyond the arc.

  • Dan Cohen

    man ellington.. 2/10

  • sport

This game is way too easier against the tanking Timberwolves. Good thing Lavine was making some shots for them if not it’d be a boring game.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

They played Lin almost the whole Q. They planned to let JC finish the game.
    What a tanker!

  • Grace Nsns

What happened to Ellington? 3pointer 1/6, SMH

  • Promo Sports World

Jeremy might not get any more minutes beyond the 3rd come on 17 points

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Byron definitely wanted him back

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Pressley is fooling around his guard rotations to lose the ball game.

  • stam

    NICE DAVIS

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Ryan Kelly and Johnson are out; who is going to create the spacing?

  • stam

    Sacre

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Luckily, Davis is beasting inside.

  • Grace Nsns

    O_O

  • Grace Nsns

    ok, 17pt.
    now tanking time

  • Promo Sports World

    Got our points folks

  • stam

    NICE brown back to 10.

  • Lin telegraphed that pass. He seems to be taking it easy?

  • stam

Nice Lin actually getting foul calls. please don’t miss!

  • Grace Nsns

    Yeah! 19pt!

  • Promo Sports World

    Nice 19

  • sport

Darn wish that last 3 made it in.

  • stam

yeah i know i would have yelled out loud

  • Briiick

    Ok, it’s time for tanking.

  • Promo Sports World

Anyone have Jeremys ppg splits this season between starter and bench

  • Alaingrvis

Laker feel like okc last game its a blow out but it isnt lol

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The 3rd Q is for the audition of Jabrai Brown.

  • stam

starter w/out kobe and bench lol.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    JLin,bench time now

  • sport

Clarkson will probably play more of 4th to tank the game, if they want to. On the bright side at least JLin’s been getting more minutes as a starter!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

No assist for Lin in 3rd Q.

  • FrankW

    25/48 bench/starter

  • sport

Lin looked to score more to get his points 🙂

  • stam

    Yes I love Ed davis!

  • stam

Jlin got pissed that guy was trying to size him up so he slapped his hand lOl.

  • Alaingrvis

Ok good glad not 20 striaght minutes

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    JC in forLin

  • LW

to lose or not to lose? that is the question! LAL(18-51) Min(16-54)

  • sport

Predicted, just glad JC and JLin minutes are mostly staggered!

  • Alaingrvis

    Ohh boy lead is gone

  • stam

Sacre can’t even catch a ball my goodness.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

1 more rebound for Davis’s double double.

  • Nitron

    Man…the bench really bad

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Go go go,wolves
5 pt game with enuf time to catch up

  • Filler-up

    Lakers fouling like mad.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lakers is trying to lose this game to the Wolves.

  • Filler-up

    Tired t.o.

  • 1mtoldman

lins got his minutes got his points and his numbers.

let lakers get their tank, chase budinger get his moment in the sun, and wayne ellington shoot his way back to the d league.

  • Grace Nsns

‘must lose’ game, or the “real fans” are going to be mad!

  • stam

    GG.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

They are trying very hard to lose this game.

  • stam

They need to call a timeout.

  • knibb

Just tuned in for the game and looks like I missed all the good stuff. I suppose Lin’s done for the game.

  • BobbyH

Just wondering what was in Lin’s mind once the lead were all gone?

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    hahaha,minny up by 1

  • Tim Pham

sure lin knows the lakers agenda to tank..he did his best to get his and try to win while he was in..i hope lin doesnt come back in..dont risk your body on a back to back for a tanking team.

  • Alaingrvis

    Lin- w.e

  • Tim Pham

i hope lin rests the whole game. dont waste his body for tanking team

  • IsabeliJane*17

    That escalated quickly… lead gone

  • Kwok Wai Lai

If this isn’t tanking, what is it?

  • Rick Johnson

So we’ll see if they’re intentionally tanking based on when Lin comes back. Now they’re trying to win. Later trying to lose.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

Lin is not stupid, he understands Lakers’ tanking

  • BobbyH

In the name of young development.

  • CaliUSMC

    WHY LIN NO PLAY!?

  • sport

Lin got his 19 points and 5 assists, Lakers can tank for all I care!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Byron’s last words to Pessley.
“I have confidence in you. You can do anything you like; just don’t win any game till I come back.'”

  • Kwok Wai Lai

LIN WANT TO WIN THE GAME.

  • LW

Because it will become a sure win for the Lakers, and they don’t want that!

  • JW

just so different when lin is in and when he’s not. LAL needs to tank. lin not getting any more time.

  • Tim Pham

i hope lin sits and lakers somehow win…double win…lin got his and lakers got punished for tanking LOL

  • stam

i stuck around just to see if Lin was coming back…

  • BobbyH

    Pessiey: Any tips?
BS: Less LED, less Lin minutes.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

THE Wolves keep almost all their starters in.
    Lakers sticks with Jabrai Brown.

  • sws94

Look, put Lin and Davis in and try to win. I don’t believe in tanking.

  • JW

so have Hill and Boozer said anything for the DNP?

  • Tim Pham

no, don’t. don’t deserve to win. let davis and lin rest.

  • Alaingrvis

Games leading scorer plays 30 second on 4th. Now the impossinle question….2 tankers enter a game

  • golfhacker

    But the Lakers do.

  • Tim Pham

wait, so no one else wants to see lakers somehow win just to see their tank plan backfire? it’s hilarious

  • 1mtoldman

they were told before the road trip they would not play to “develop” the younger players.

  • Keith

Byron called Pressey after 3rd quarter saying that Pressey was doing it all wrong . Sit Lin for tanking is the way Lakers want.

  • Lin kept driving the Tank to the ground so coaches told him to “rest”
“Bad Tank Commander” they kept saying :p

  • stam

If they win, they may reduce Lin’s play time even more.

  • Rookie75094

Lol..the tankers tries hard but the timber puppies try harder

  • 1mtoldman

a trifecta for ellington, most minutes, most shots taken, most shots missed. most effective tank weapon tonite.

  • I am The Jason

Could the Lakers be any more obvious about tanking this game

  • JW

JHill got a contract, but Boozer looking for a new one.

  • Chipdip

They are trying to figure out if they shoot their own basket would that be counted as negative points. They really desperate to tank!

  • 1mtoldman

as long as ellington keeps shooting lakers tank cant fail.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

“Now folks, You’re all playing fine. Just try to shoot a few air ball; something to show your effort, then you are done for.”
We will welcome you back in LA.

  • BobbyH

“JLin on the bench in the crunch time” LA announcer said.

  • BobbyH

    OT?

  • stam

LOL ED davis 7/9 and Lin 6-14 out.

  • CJSHYY

    Bc of tanking. LOL!

  • Chipdip

Make sure pass the ball to the Wolverines as well….

  • Alaingrvis

    Who wins

  • BobbyH

Pessiey is going to get an earful from BS.

  • Dan Cohen

    why

  • Tim Pham

nah, if they win, they will try to find ways to tank harder..that means less lin minutes as well. no win in this

  • JW

so they thought playing more Kelly would be certain loss. Almost double double. not hitting his 3s though.

  • BobbyH

    Winning

  • Tim Pham

    or lose

  • CaliUSMC

    Is J.Hill injured?

  • Rookie75094

Haha. ..the tank still get busted……yeah

  • JW

    just his pride

  • joyce ward

Two tank teams trying to out tank each other. This is alike a movie…LOL

  • CaliUSMC

    lol

  • Tim Pham

rkelly is a decent player..can shoot..plays better with lin of course

  • BobbyH

    18M pride?

  • wow.. Lakers might have to win this game despite the great tanking effort :p

  • Lam

This is a gripping game. King Tiger panzer vs Joseph Stalin IS-2. Which will be the ultimate tank.

  • 1mtoldman

clarkson doing his part to the end; missing a shot; fouling to stop the clock and give opportunity for wolves to cut it to 3.

    success!

  • sport

Wow OT?! Are you kidding me?!

  • stam

Will they put Lin back in overtime?

  • Alaingrvis

    Lol

  • Filler-up

Lin gets 39 sec so they can say he played in the 4q.

  • CaliUSMC

lol. Not going to watch this at all.

  • Dan Cohen

    I. AM. SCRATCHING. MY. HEAD.

  • stam

black was hammered man. that is so unfair.

  • JW

PP will tell LAL to throw it to opponent and don’t defend.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    OT?

  • BobbyH

    You are not alone.

  • sport

Does Lin get minutes in OT?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Both teams are trying very hard to loss.

  • BobbyH

    30 secs, I guess.

  • IsabeliJane*17

    HA-HA-HA Tied!

  • Filler-up

    No way

  • Alaingrvis

Two teams trying to tank play a game….the answer to this riddle is endless overtime after overtimr

  • Man, Lakers had Chase Budinger to thank for draining that wide-open 3 to tie the game
    #TheTankIsAlive

  • Rick Johnson
  • joyce ward

Adam Silver needs to fine both these teams for the obvious tank..smh

  • Rookie75094

Wow ot? The tanking for both clubs are sickening

  • Tim Pham

damn rkelly could have killed the tank

  • golfhacker

    U suck Kelly.

  • sport

Overtime confirmed with Kelly’s wide open missed 3. Can Lin get some stat padding minutes in OT?

  • JW

    they didn’t even need a 3

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Why isn’t Lin in the game at all in the 4th quarter?

  • Rick Johnson

    No they want to lose.

  • 1mtoldman

silver’s already said of course no one team actually tries to lose. that its not a problem; but they will “look at” the lottery system again in the future.

  • Rick Johnson

    Tank

  • JW

so is BS gonna get fired if LAL lose the draft pick?

  • sport

Should look at it right now, change it so tanking team won’t get top picks anymore!

  • CJSHYY

They will get it don’t worry.

  • ViNuyork

omg—so annoying to watch tanking games-..too obvious- waste of time n $$ esp. for those who bought tickets

  • Sunny Sullenberger

R u sure of Asking this so obvious question?

  • sport

Clarkson got 5 fouls, hope he fouls out so Lin can win the game!

  • JW

    3 rookies

  • usually yes … but it’s ok for tonight, $5 night according to @1mtoldman:disqus

  • stam

JC knee’d him in the nuts lol.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

Actually the longer the better, you know what I am saying, for those who are in the Target Center

  • golfhacker

    Dude, that’s not funny!

  • stam

Yeah i hope they foul him out cause now he’s just catching up to Jlin’s stats.

  • IsabeliJane*17

Ok this is a loss anyway. No Jeremy in OT

  • JW

don’t understand why they don’t all wear cups and goggles. dangerous.

  • Linja

Hold it. Fakers can’t win this one.

  • KL

    This tanking is disgusting!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Wolves won last 2 games in overtime

  • ViNuyork

really- wow so cheap—well, I should be paid to go watch these two tanking teams 🙂

  • stam

    ellington thinks he’s kobe – 3/17.

  • golfhacker

    Ellington 34 mins, 3/17 FG.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

Lakers should put Sacre in yo tank

  • Linja

    Tank you.

  • JW

so that’s why he’s still in there.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Minny up by 2

  • JW

is Lin still under his towel? hiding from this tanking embarrassment.

  • Filler-up

    Fans should be pissed.

  • BobbyH

I would rather Lakers lose this one so Lin can have more freedom in the coming games near the end.

  • Linja

    This is really comical.

  • Dan Cohen

and ppl thought lin’s to was bad…this is stripped..lin’s to are via passes which need 2 end connections.

  • Filler-up

Wayne Ellington 3 for infinity is still in.

  • Rookie75094

The solution is to take away the picks for the tanking team….like the death penalty in college

  • stam

jhill and boozer should just wear suits since they are DNP

  • ViNuyork

    against JLin’s bb principle…

  • MoominFloren

Hahahaha someone should send this game recording to Mr Silver

  • orLinaryjoe

    La Tankers doing fine tanking

  • 1mtoldman

wouldnt it be funny if lakers doing everything possible to lose this game still win!!! wolves probably taking a time out to try to figure out how to stay behind.

  • yeah, apparently they need to fill the seats for good TV viewing experience lol

  • stam

they need to put sacre in.

  • sws94

Can Ellington play a worse game?

  • 1mtoldman

gets the tank commander merit of acheivement 2nite.

  • golfhacker

    Still 2:26 left.

  • knibb

Sherman vs. Panzer: Battle of Tanks

  • JW

I think he’s trying hard to make sure LAL lose. That’s why he’s coming back next year for BS.

  • stam

Ellington is PG now lol 3/18 4/ fouls.

  • golfhacker

    Told u.

  • sws94

    Terrible basketball.

  • 1mtoldman

    omg this is hilarious!

  • Filler-up

    Wellington in, tank is saved.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This game is getting to be ugly contanktion.

  • 1mtoldman

    or tanking basketball

  • joyce ward

Ellington needs to read the tea leafs, lakers don’t care about him.

  • I think both teams secretly want to go to 2OT

  • sport

If they have Double Overtime for these 2 tanking teams that’d be sad but please foul out Clarkson!!

  • JW

They are just doing it on purpose. nobody wants to win.

Rubio is saying NO 2nd OT!!!

  • 1mtoldman

shooting his way back to the d league.

  • Rick Johnson

Oh Stu just noticed JLin hasn’t been playing.

  • sport

    stat padding who wouldn’t?!

  • Dan Cohen

    battle of the cellar!!!!

  • Rick Johnson

Pressy should just put Sacre in and ice the tank.

  • Alaingrvis

Another overtime is my riddle correct

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL Mark Medina noticed it almost toward the end of 4th qtr. What a clown!!!

  • JW

They just let JC go rite in.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Wiggin didn’t want to go to OT.
Clarkson want the game honour in scoring.
    Otherwise :ConTanKTion.

  • Filler-up

If it goes to second ot, Lin might get insinceJC has played 17 min straight.

  • JW

day off tomorrow. they don’t care.

  • win-win!

  • Sunny Sullenberger

If Lakers win, it is on JC

  • sws94

Doubt it. I think Clarkson has to foul out for Lin to come in.

  • sport

Timberwolves announcers keep comparing two rookies Lavine and Clarkson. After that layup they’re saying Clarkson had more impact even though Lavine has more points.

  • joyce ward

I am so sick of Clarkson.

  • Alaingrvis

Lol imagine if lakers did all that and won. Pressley just relisedhow specail scott iss

  • stam

    Me too LOL.

  • CJSHYY

Me too. He’s so selfish bc he sure know coach wants to tank but he just didn’t want to miss any chance to pad his own stats. smh!

  • hey, at least @Lakers acknowledged who the Anti-Tank commander is!

    https://twitter.com/Lakers/status/580916342120792065

  • sport

Hate that he’s catching up to Lin’s stats cause he had unfair amount of minutes!!

  • JW

refs talking to each other. We do not want 2nd OT. Let’s get one of them to win and let’s go home.

  • anddan

gee… Eglinton & Black working hard to follow BS instructions… smh

  • sport

    LOL so true!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The Wolves throw the game away.
Lakers wants it, you can keep it.

Pressley: I tried so hard not to win. IT’s not going to happen!

  • stam

LOL, they need to put sacre in for 25+ min in order to secure the tank.

  • sport

Wow Wolves ball!! Double OT if they make this! Hilarious!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The Wolves: only 23 s. left. Let’s give the game to the Lakers.
Pressley: Byron Scott is not going to like it! Take the ball Wolves.

Danm they go to double OT! No!
No, Clarkson will have the team honour in scoring.

    Hahahahahaha Lakers won!!!!!!
    What a shjtty game.

Give the game ball to Clarkson.

  • JW

Wolves announcer so annoyed it’s taking so long to figure it out. He really wants to go home.

  • sport

    Double OT here me come!

  • stam

damn clarkson is really stat padding.

  • sport

Clarkson got bail out foul call, darn he’s going to pass JLin’s points!

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Omg double ot

  • CaliUSMC

    6TO’S aint coo tho.

  • Alaingrvis

Answer to my riddle refs say lets endthis crap

  • stam

so clarkson gets more points than Lin again….

  • Rick Johnson

Budinger laughing taking to JLin. Both were seniors in HS in California competing for Mr. Basketball.

  • Tim Pham

    i dont even care. meaningless

  • 7iger

Let’s go for quadruple OT hehehe

  • Tim Pham

HAHA lakers gonna win. take that stupid laker fans and coaches that want to tank..you still somehow win…

  • sws94

    LOL, failed at tanking.

  • John Lee

I dare Mr. Silver to tell people, with a straight face, that a player shooting 3/19 getting 39 minutes isn’t tanking.

  • Filler-up

Lakers win, JC is the star.

  • Tim Pham

it’s so hilarious…that’s what they get lol

  • sport

Refs rigged it with the foul call for Lakers. That’s the little “chat” that had during the video review for the out of bounds call. They were deciding who to give the win to.

  • Filler-up

    Refs did not wantanother ot.

  • Alaingrvis

    This is the nba

  • CJSHYY

Haha! Coach sure will be mad. LOL! He is just too selfish only think about his own stats… smh!

  • sport

Here comes more hype for the rookie Clarkson.

  • wow.. Pressey might be demoted for blowing the tank

  • JW

so it is home court advantage. Refs give the win to LAL.

  • Linja

    JC the goat.

  • Dan Cohen

lin seems to careless, knowing he won’t get back in until jc fouls out. he seems to be so relaxed.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Zach LaVine made a great foul and stop sending the game to double OT.
Pressley: Oh, My God. I should have asked JBrown to foul first.

  • Filler-up

    O
R the leading scorer and rebounder were sat for the last 16 min.

  • John Lee

    Trade bait.

  • Tim Pham

at this point who cares? we all know clarkson is not the “star” lakers want you to believe .we all can see what lin can do given the time..lin wont even be on the lakers in a few weeks…im just happy that the lakers failed at tanking LOL

  • Alaingrvis

    ill takeit ad respect tolin

  • dolphin2k2

Yeah, it was kinda evident from the phantom out of bound call. LAL fo must be pissed.

  • stam

They DNP boozer, took out Lin and Davis, and they still managed to win. one might think that if they had a better coach they might actually be winning some games.

  • sport

Rookie wants to stand out. Doesn’t help that he gets to be PG to take all the shots.

  • Tim Pham

good. lin is just playing for himself and his teammates when he is in. when he’s not, not in his control especially when they are tanking..

  • John Lee

    Did you mean carefree?

  • Filler-up

You mean “doesn’t care” or “could care less”. A space makes all the diff.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Scott couldn’t punish him by sending him to the bench!

  • CJSHYY

I believe could care less. LOL!

  • Tim Pham

win win for lin fans..lin does his thing to get his stats, lakers tried to tank and failed.

  • Rookie75094

    Clarkson busted the tank…yeah

  • GoodDayLA

I knew Lin wouldn’t play the 4th in some games. I got hated on yesterday surmising that but today the lead with Lin through 3 quarters was big they couldn’t even play him at all in the 4th lol

  • hehe, he’s already there but there’s always the end of the bench!

  • Yascar

    Or couldn’t care less. lol

  • BobbyH

Pessiey is going to get an earful from BS.
JC is going to get an earful from Pessiey: “You need to get teammates involved, pass more, especially to those brick.”

  • CJSHYY

But w this… FO will not be happy… I think he is a trade bait even more now. They probably will like to get the pick more than to keep him.

  • sport

Should’ve taken out Clarkson who made that last shot.

  • MoominFloren

Let’s see if the “true” lakers fans blame Clarkson for blowing up the tank

  • or some might clap admiring BScott for his mighty tanking ways ..
I don’t likw how this tanking season really hides BScott’s lack of ability in coaching

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Flip Saunders made a great call.
“LaVine, foul JC.” Flip stuck the game under Byron Scott’s throat. Hey! take it! U can have the win.

  • sport

Are you sure it was LaVine, thought it was Wiggins?

  • JW

so with the last 2 JC FT, he pass Lin on the highest scorer.

  • What the F is the point of making Lin the starter if he plays 29 minutes? I’d rather him be a bench player and get the 38 minutes that Clarkson got.

  • CJSHYY

It means nothing so no need to care.. but just prove how selfish JC is… LOL!

  • IsabeliJane*17

That is BS’ consolation for Jeremy Lin’s fans and lousy attempt to put the “we’re not tanking” agenda out there.

  • Alaingrvis

Lol more like 25 on a good day

  • sport

You do realize Lin isn’t closing 4th quarter starter or not cause they’re tanking! Lin is already getting longer minutes than when he was a bench player!

  • Sunny Sullenberger

Because if Lin were playing, there would not be any OT

  • orLinaryjoe

You think tanker fans will complain or not.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I think everyone was tired & the game it’s so boring… JC just what they need to loss the game. LOL!

  • grover chang

No one created trade bait like Morey. He was the master at it. Morey was the master baiter!

  • sport

    So true!

  • orLinaryjoe

Lin played well. Tanker got destroyed. Will they still blame him when he wasn’t even in?

  • @JLin7 can’t watch but admired his teammates #AntiTank ways 🙂
    https://twitter.com/JLinPortal/status/580924403162042368

  • joyce ward

    Go away…smh

  • Alaingrvis

Lakers thougt they had the loss even gave elington the last shot

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Pressley used the worst possible lineup on the floor for the Lakers and they still got the win.
    Thanks to LaVine and Clarkson.

  • IsabeliJane*17

I still don’t get why he has to put a towel on his head whenever he’s on the bench. Dodging the paparazzi? Smelly team mates? Drying his hair? Embarrassment from tanking? Can’t take which reason I’ll pick.

  • 7iger

Wolves have a better tank commander

  • GoodDayLA

It’s about the tank, nothing to do with Lin.

  • Briiick

    LOL

  • Briiick

He is having a cold I think.

  • sws94

He played a few seconds of the 4th. It’s obvious that no Lin or Davis in most of the 4th meant the team wouldn’t try to win and if they won, would do it with not the best lineup on the floor.

  • sport

Pressley should’ve taken Clarkson out, had Ellington at PG and stick Sacre in there.

  • nodomo

Ellington got 39 min coming off the bench. Shot 3 for 19 for 7 pts. Lakers are really trying to tank by putting in guys with bad shooting nights in the game.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Dumb Rookies! What’s the difference?
I still think it’s LaVine. He’s the champion of dunks. He dunks the game to Lakers in the last second.
Clarkson doesn’t have the gut to hurl the ball out of the gym.
He’ll rgret it. He should have just missed both FTs and Byron would love him more.

  • LW

Pressey is no BS at the tank job.

  • I’d go with protecting the body heat from escaping from the top of his head.
If you use the right filter, you can see it sizzles =)

  • sport

LOL makes Lin look like a grandma with that towel. Is the arena too cold?

  • joyce ward

Yeah, because kobe has already told them that Clarkson has to go.LOL

  • dolphin2k2

Probably thought Sacre was not needed. He was wrong.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • joyce ward

Somebody on another board said Pressy gave props to lin.

  • blubell
  • sport

Glad Lin still got player of the game even though Clarkson was stat padding and scored more with more rebounds! Maybe they based it on minutes as well.

  • MoominFloren

    Not Clarkson? Hmm

  • golfhacker

Reporters interviewing Pressey. Don’t know how they can keep a straight face.

  • BobbyH

Wow, not JC? Something is cooking.

  • blubell
  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes. Sweat with cold air will make a person gets sick easily. Was told so when I was young:-)

  • 7iger

Set Lin up to blame for breaking the tank

  • MoominFloren

Tank you for staying at the bench in 4Q??

  • golfhacker

He just said that Lin and Davis played well, but went with his gut and left the tankers in.

  • GoodDayLA

Lol no 4th or OT and player of game lol

  • joyce ward

I think kobe not happy with the rook. I think that are starting to figure out that lin got game.

  • kauaiblue

    Gut feeling for what?

  • sport

Kobe’s not happy with anyone but himself.

  • 7iger

If Lin play as much he would get 30+ point already

  • joyce ward

    Yep sounds about right.LOL

  • Arsenium12 .
  • Kwok Wai Lai

Do you know that Jabrai Brown was almost doing nothing in the 2nd half and he still got the minutes.

  • joyce ward

So TCW seems to be on board with lin now, what is going on? LOL

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL That’s one of the main reasons I was pretty upset when PFV repeated the believe of K Ding of Clarkson is Asian and we should root for him. To me they are far from interchangeable! Whatever I root for JLin, I can’t find it in Clarkson. They are too far apart in too many ways. Don’t give an excuse for being a rookie!

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Gut feeling for tanking

Keep straight face is part of their job

  • BobbyH

    BS no. 2

  • blubell
  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Funny, haha

  • 7iger

Lin and Davis played great but it is an order from tank commander not to play them.

  • FrankW

For the month of March including this game, Jeremy Lin averaged per

  • Arsenium12 .
  • anddan

    look! those anti-tank joy…

  • sport

same goes for Johnson and Sacre for most games. They can lose as long as Lin got his points and minutes.

  • tin3ytina

    so adorable!!!

  • Brent Yen

    How was lin doing!?

  • sport

Next time just play Sacre more minutes for tanking.

  • tin3ytina

pressey is right! he went with his guts on which players can lose the game. he makes tanking look more obvious than byron

  • CJSHYY

This is so funny… bc they are so afraid of Lin is not happy for not playing the 4Q & OT… LOL!

  • blubell
  • sport

It was a slow start when he was 0-3 and then he got into rhythm, only made one 3 pointer and rest were layups after layups or FTs. Don’t remember him making any mid jumpers tonight.

  • LAJane

Maybe for once taking into account turnovers other than Lin’s…6 for Clarkson, plus 5 fouls and a +/- of minus six in spite of having more minutes to make a difference.

  • LAJane

    LOL

  • CJSHYY

I think FO sure is not happy about the won today bc they want to loss… JC is not the team player at all.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

His guts is in trouble. Lakers won the game.
Flip Saunders called a great play with 1 second left on the time clock. He got Lavine foul Clarkson. The dmub rookie made both of his FTs; Clarkson should have bricked it for Pressley’s sake.

  • joyce ward

I think that this is hilarious. TCW named lin player of the game, not Clarkson. Maybe they are beginning to get it.

  • LAJane

Hard to get away with it when he sat the 4th and OT. Although he still got Player of the Game, hahaha

  • joyce ward

Seems like they have done a complete turnaround about Lin. What is really going on?

  • blubell
  • BobbyH

It is not that Lakers not good at tanking. It is just the wolf tank is better.

  • 1mtoldman

lots of good new tonite; another good game for lin; avoids the embarssment of the ridiculous tank to tank rumble for the last quarter and o.t. clarkson can be hated on by “true laker fans” now for failing the tank mission.

elsewhere; tony parker and the spurs burying the masked marvel of okc. parker 21 pts on 10 of 14; mm of okc hasn’t made a basket since the first quarter and is 5 of 16; spurs with 95 points already in the 3rd and up by about 20 something.

  • joyce ward
  • 1mtoldman

    yep.

  • stam

Maybe clarkson’s 6 TO influenced the decision.

  • joyce ward

You know Davis is gone. He will not be with the Lakers next season..LOL

  • blubell
  • LAJane

Oh that’s nice! Seems that Lin quietly has pals in every corner of the NBA.

  • 1mtoldman

that was the most brilliant tank to tank battle yet. bring a grown man to tears. (of laughter).

  • Sunny Sullenberger

The rookie is too slow to understand this. Obviously Pressley can’t say “JC, you got to brick your FTs so we can lose”

  • stam

Pass more to Ellington. Oh wait, he just missed the shot lol.

  • stam

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • MoominFloren
  • 1mtoldman

san antonio put up a 100 on okc in just 3 quarters.

  • 1mtoldman

are you allowed to say things like that on television?

  • Sunny Sullenberger

Yes, that’s why Pressey sit out Hill, Booz, and did not insert JLin, Davis in the fourth quarter and OTs

  • sport

Lets just hope Davis is going wherever Lin’s going!

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • 1mtoldman

he had to try harder up against highly developing tanking skills of minny.

  • Rick Johnson

He’s mistaken. That was just some constipation he had.

  • BobbyH

Something is cooking. The scripts must be passed down from above. They won’t bother to do research or care about what opponent coaches say.

  • stam

This was a great game for Lin and on a back to back. Lin is the most consistent player with a terrible and inconsistent coach who is constantly jerking his minutes and lineups. He’s fearless and tactful in overcoming this insurmountable challenge while making the biggest positive impact on the Lakers.

  • Chipdip

I really feel bad for Ed… only played 22 min tonite despite his good showing!

  • Rick Johnson

Had been building up Clarkson to trade away. But now worried they may lose Lin so now giving him props.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

When I saw it, I felt funny. Something is definitely cooking. The plot thickens:-)

  • stam

Stu still gets caught saying things like “wow, jeremy is not a defensive player but that was a really great block.”

  • linspiredinla
  • joyce ward

They are trying to keep Ed at low minutes so that other teams will make him an offer. Lakers can’t afford lin/davis at this point.

  • blubell
  • LAJane

Lin doesn’t seem to have a problem with him. He knows very well what goes up one day can really come crashing down the next. I’m sure he has sympathy for a rook trying to grab some limelight, and I’m also sure Clarkson’s inexperienced arrogance doesn’t mean much to him except perhaps if he tries now and then to give him a little correction. We can be doubtful about Clarkson’s character and certainly don’t have to like him, but I don’t think he has enough weight to really mean much.

  • blubell
  • CJSHYY

Bc Lakers FO is afraid of the opponent teams want to sign Lin too. LOL!

  • orLinaryjoe

Haha, luv it! That was a good tanking plan tho. Some fans cussin JC at LG. Good to see some real Laker fans against the tank. Really hate concept of losing to win. After awhile, all you know is losing.

  • joyce ward

    What did they say?

  • stam

Ed is a great teamate for screens and the PNR. He always gives the ball back to Lin. Ed is smart and knows that if he is open, Lin will pass for the dunk. Unlike hill who never passes back to Lin and holds the ball up and around, tricking his own team mates, completely stopping the ball movement, and shooting a long 2.

  • linspiredinla

  • CJSHYY

I think so too. Randle will start next season I guess.

  • joyce ward

I live in LA and this is beginning to feel like the D12 scenario. The F/O liked D12 and wanted him back. They put up billboards aroundd the city for him not to leave. This is beginning to feel like that about lin. I don’t know, it just feels wiered

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    No game highlight yet?

  • CJSHYY

Do you think Lin will stay? So afraid he will bc he even agreed w this tank now? Maybe he had no choice but had to do it?

  • Brent Yen

Missed the game!! I want highlight!

  • orLinaryjoe

Don’t think FO strong enough towards Kobe. One more year min with this team/ kobe not worth it. But not my decision. Lin was go with his gut. Hope it is better than coach Pres. Had LA treated him right after Kobe injury, it may have been different. My guess.

  • orLinaryjoe

    HODAT tank!

  • nodomo

Total repeat of the D12 scenario. Same thing is gonna happen, F/O will ask Kobe to help sell it to Lin and Kobe will be snarky about it and Lin will be gone.

  • Brent Yen

I just found out Lin did not play 4th and OT….WTH

  • CJSHYY

I think so if Lakers treated Lin right from the beginning Lin will stay or even agree to sign w them now…

  • CJSHYY

Tank but busted by JC. LOL!

  • Filler-up

A once proud franchise now feels it must tank to regain its stature.

  • linspiredinla
  • Brent Yen

So what the coach did today, basically was like. IGDAF what FO thinks.

  • linspiredinla
  • Filler-up

How can JC not be the player of the game? Something stinks.

  • nodomo

Instead Ellington played 39 min while shooting 3 for 19 and Clarkson got 38 min shooting 6 for 16 with 6 TOs.

  • nodomo

because he shot 6 for 16 with 6 TOs.

  • Briiick

Only if he is given the contract of a Franchise player.

  • linspiredinla
  • yes, and it’s scientifically true we lose 80% of our body heat through our head so Dr. Lin knows how to take care of himself 🙂

  • Briiick

Has any star playing with Kobe not gotten so much criticism ? It’s known as jealousy.

  • LAL was leading 75-66 when Pressey subbed Lin out in fear of blowing the tank to oblivion.
Didn’t work since Flip Saunders out-tanked him :>

By the sound of it, there’s only lowlights tonight. Lol

  • blubell
  • blubell

    From Lakersground

Lin — — He had 13 points in the third quarter. Pressey ran him a few more seconds in the fourth quarter, than sat him for the rest of the game. He had Davis had the chemistry going strong in this one. While Lin didn’t shoot the three ball well, he put together another solid game. Last night the +/- difference between Clarkson and Lin when on the floor alone was a -20 for Lin. Tonight Lin had the +15 and Clarkson the -6. I would have thought if this were a must-win game, Lin would be in there down the stretch and in OT for sure.

The Stats: The Action: He missed a three off a handoff. He attacked, fell and coughed it up. He blew past his man and took contact by the help D in the circle for FTs, he made both. He found Tarik with low position for the easy score. Quick burst of speed and he was blocked under the hoop. He missed a wing three. He crossed over his man and scored a layup down the middle of the lane. He threw a pass too far behind Davis on the two-man game, turnover. He ran into a shooter trying to stay with his man on D, giving up FTs. He found Davis under the hoop for a dunk. He probed the lane, drew the D and hit Davis around a defender for the dunk. He circled around the lane and dumped it to Davis for a score. He stripped a man and took it for the uncontested layup. Third time in the past two games where the end of the quarter horn went off with the ball in his hands.

Second Half: He swished an open three on the high screen. He probed and missed a turnaround. He took the pass from Clarkson on the break and rode it in for the layup. He attacked right through the D with ease and scored a layup, forcing a timeout. He airballed the 16-footer, looking for a foul. He missed an open wing three. He got past his man with a hesitation move and scored a layup. He attacked the paint for FTs and made both. Bad baseline pass that was easily picked off. He picked up the inbounds at halfcourt, attacked with speed and drew FTs on the two-for-one sequence, he made both. He missed a three at the buzzer (getting a shot off this time).

    Game summary by Dancinbarry:

Tank Hard with a Vengeance… Who doesn’t want it more? Another battle of two simply bad teams.

Bad teams find a way to lose.

Pressey tried his best. After losing a lead in the final couple minutes (Chase Budinger with a game-tying three with 6 seconds left), he let that unit try to lose in OT. The TWolves tripped, stumbled and found ways to not win. Tied up, Pressey didn’t call a timeout on the final possession of OT, allowing an ice cold Wayne Ellington (3-19) to get rejected on a drive.

At this point, the refs may have seen enough. They whistled a foul sending Clarkson to the line for FTs with 0.3 left in the game as he scrambled for the loose ball. He drained both FTs and that was that. Lakers won 101-99 over the TWolves.

While the Magic and Knicks both lost, the Lakers got a break with the Sixers also winning their game.

  • Brent Yen

    I just kept FF it….lol

  • sport

Could’ve worked if he put in Sacre for Clarkson and let Ellington be PG. Then Clarkson wouldn’t have gotten his chance to stat pad.

Dos this tanking happen in other American sports besides NBA? Its criminal, sports wise.

  • tin3ytina

or just put in sacre as PG.

  • tin3ytina

i would pay to watch that

  • Kianainhi

Lakers must want to sign Lin. Noticed the 180degree turnaround after ASB from Stu & Bill to TWC Sportsnet panel. I don’t believe Kupchak is giving up on Lin. He must have watched Lin from 2010 & how he evolved as a more complete player. He knows Lin brings excitement to Staples & is a fan favorite.
Also, FO should realize JC is not a playmaking PG. Org needs someone to lead & run the offense as PG . Price & JC are not it.

When J does one of those ring-around-the-rosies under the basket with a conga-line of opposing players chasing after him in a circle…it’s just so comical looking that I laugh every time. It’s so Keystone Cops, but in the end he always manages a good outlet pass or a dime out of it. His bullet passes and warp-speed penetrations are pretty thrilling, but a good laugh is v. welcome 🙂

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I was so frustrated with the ConTankTion. That’s a crime.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The kid tried hard to score.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Love to see Boozer and Hill.
Hill can really play at the next level with his jump shots. He could shoot 3s for many teams.
Hill, Boozer, Lin, Davis, Wesley Johnson are among players who aren’t used properly.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

That’s a low point of Lin’s career being honoured in a game like this. Granted LED is the bright spot of the game but the team was manipulated to failure that we want to forget. Almost went to double overtime. NBA should just issue a warning to both teams for inept coaching.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    It is a leading question.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The Spurs want to win and stay ahead of the Mavericks. If you have a choice playing Memphis or Houston, which team do you want to play against?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

What a shooting %; got to give this guy the credit?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

They should demote Hill to the perimeter to play like Ryan Kelly. Hill can shoot 3 for a man of his size. He’s not much a PnR player!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Pressley: that’s enough Lin! Let me remind you that you’re still sick. Go and take a rest. We don’t want this game.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Love to see
Boozer and Hill in contrast to Sacre and Kelly.
This is a day that you’d rather stay on the bench.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I have the feeling that Jabrai Brown won’t be signed for the rest of the season so they just let him play.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Jeremy made all of his 5 assists in the first half.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

It’s not easy to find a PG that can carry the team. Lin has the potential that lots of teams can see since the ASG. Lin has been a very durable PG in NBA. You can even compare him with PBev. He’s probably out for the season now.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin doesn’t have a problem with anyone.I view Clarkson/Randle the same. The show no respect for lin and his game at times. True, the coach has to enforce this, and yeah you are right I don’t like either one of them. As far as his character, I believe your character is based upon this: who you are is what you do, and what you do is what you truly believe.

  • K. P. Chan

Pressey disappointed me, not just because he benched Lin against all reasons, but because of the insensitivity and disrespect he showed Lin afterwards.

Let me explain. There are so many diplomatic ways (and even legitimate ones) to explain why he sat Lin down. The biggest reason was tanking. Obviously he couldn’t come right out to say that. But he could have said: “Lin had been under the weather for several days now, & he was playing hard. He also just came off a wrist injury & was still recovering from back spasms. We wanted him healthy. There was no reason to risk further injury. Moreover, we wanted to see how the rooks responded in close games. We wanted to train them to close out games”.

All of these might have been on his mind & they were not outrageous reasons. These are the things he could have said without portraying any shenanigans and dissing of Lin.

Yet, he chose not to do so, and said he went with his gut. Now that was bush league!

  • K. P. Chan

My feelings towards Clarkson go back and forth. I can’t make up my mind, but they are at best mixed.

On the one hand, I know he’s an eager beaver. And who can blame him? He was hardly used in the beginning, and now all of a sudden the world opens up to him. He is therefore eager to make a mark &he tries to capitalize on the opportunity. I think of him as a kid in a candy store.

On the other hand, his over-eagerness gives the impression that he is all in for himself. His on-court demeanor does not convince me that he has total respect for someone like Lin, who I am sure has been trying to help him.

Maybe that’s just being young and inexperienced. And hopefully in time he will mature into more of a team-player. I do think he has been getting better in sharing of late though. Perhaps the coaching staff is onto him & is trying to coach him to play the right way. Who knows?

As to his personal character, I really can’t tell. Only time will tell. It’s up to him to become what he will become. If he is smart, he will know what’s best for him. It all goes around, comes around.

  • gtfo

Hes gathering his qi so he can let one rip later

  • K. P. Chan

Agreed 100%, but Kup should have stepped in earlier. I am afraid it’s too late. If you were Lin, how do you think you can feel comfortable staying, and be with people you don’t trust? There’s been a lot of water under the bridge now.

  • joyce ward

The Lakers are in quite a dilemma. If Love decides to sign with them, they are going to need a good PG to feed him the ball and that is not Clarkson or Price. Also if Lakers sign Love, it will be a big FU kobe moment. i think these few games that Clarkson has played has shown Laker organization/fans that Clarkson is not ready to run an offense.and the plot thickens

  • joyce ward
  • joyce ward

Lin is so cute in this video.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Read a short article on Love by LBJ. Seem like Love isn’t a player that is easy to play with. If he joins Lakers with KB, it will be “fun” to see the “fire” between the two. If Rando joins Lakers, wow, it will be fun to read all the implode story:-)

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes he is. Seem like he is getting better and more comfy in interacting with fans now. He is a lot more relaxed:-)

  • 1mtoldman

how is “cute” factored into stats and analytics?

  • joyce ward

Love is a diva. He also doesn’t like to play defense and that is why Blatt puts on the bench all the time. You have to remember Love was the man in Minnesota.I think if the Lakers do sign him, kobe is going to be mad, because kobe wants Rondo so that rondo can feed the ball to kobe to make kobe look good. Kobe is tired now, that is why he got re-injured because he couldn’t play in the up tempo style with lin. It is funny now because fans have gotten so use to the up tempo style play that lin brings, that if kobe comes back with that slow tempo paste, many fans are not going to like it.

  • joyce ward

Also, I love the fact that Minnesota is smart trying to market their team in China, by forming a partnership with the Asian community.

  • 1mtoldman

because they were getting the bleep beat out of them. they were already down 100 to 70 or something by the end of the third quarter.

parker/the masked marvel/ dueled for 26 minutes and parker destroyed and the spurs gegnerally desteroyed.

westbrook was 5 for 16 and didn’t score a basket after the first quarter at that point; dont know if he got a few more later but i think he was at about 26 minutes when i checked out so i doubt if he went back in as both teams played to the bottom of the bench the whole 4th.

(blocked fga). there was question about this at the time; someone would have to watch the game vid and check.

I understand. Once JLin leaves Lakers, I care very little except probably reading at times about what’s going on. If this is what they ask, they will receive what they ask. Just pray JLin continues to stay healthy, improve his games for the rest of season. Can’t wait to find which team JLin will end up with.

The responses to this quote are hilarious.LOL

  • JLin Fan from Australia

According to the Chinese article who reported on the event said that used to be they even had events during the game in the past but not this year. Was quite upset of how Rox/Lakers treated JLin brought down all these events now. Not sure it’s good or bad.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    New excuse now???

  • grover chang

I really don’t want to think about it. Was a huge laker fan before Lin joined and Lin just put a big spotlight on everything wrong with the Lakers post Dr. Buss. A chill went down my spine thinking about Rondo and Kobe playing slow ball, both throwing bricks. That could not be my Lakers who once lit the NBA on fire with showtime and forever changed the game.

  • joyce ward

This image of lin says it all…LOL

  • joyce ward

Well, it’s bad for the Lakers/Houston, not lin.

  • joyce ward
  • joyce ward

I suspect a lot of fans are going to be upset when lin/davis leaves.LOL

This was a meaningless game for the Lakers, win or lose, and Pressey coached that way. It looks like they were taking a close look at Kelly. He took the last two shots in regulation (missed both, 4-13). He also ignored Lin early in the game when Lin was wide open – um pack your bags Kelly (season FG%.307).

The positive for Lin is that this was by far the best game he has played all season in the second game of a B2B. His stat line would’ve been even better had Pressey played him down the stretch. This was Lin’s third consecutive 2nd game/B2B where he scored in double-digits (12, 15, 19). And they were all away games, dispelling the myth that Lin doesn’t play well in B2Bs, and away. His PER also continues to climb, to 16.26. A nice trajectory as Lin heads into free agency.

    Keep on keeping on Jeremy!

  • Dan Cohen

that’s a bit racist dude. doesn’t make you look good with that statement shasha.

  • Dan Cohen

that and he’s model… where do you get a player who can play very well in the nba AND goes to the number 1 university renown for education – harvard.

  • Maknusia

Yeah…but he also had couple of good B2B games this season…with limited minutes….knowing BScott, pulling him out when he was hot.

I think LBJ doesn’t want Love to stay in Cav.

  • 1mtoldman

kelly is arguably statistically the worst player in the league for the year playing 20mpg. tho he has a lot of fans on this site. i thought they were just playing him for tanking purposes only but the “close look at kelly” angle makes sense because i forgot that other than kobe and randle the only players they actually have to pay next year are swaggy and kelly. so yeah maybe they’re trying to see if there is anything they can salvage here before they just waive his s.a. making him next years x-man.

  • 1mtoldman

the rockets are reportedly trying to lure 7 year real madrid vet sergio llul (single digit career scorer) for something close to 6 mill a year. highly unliklely if they succeed p bev will get his desired pay upgrade next year from the rockets but only elsewhere.

  • Dan Cohen

that is what I do not understand. 6 mill for CAREER 7 years that never hit double digits scorer. Yet, ppl are saying lin should only get 5 mil per year?!

imo, at this rate so far it’s fair if lin gets 10 million per year, but I think he’ll get maybe 8.. anything below is an insult.

  • Ttt
  • 1mtoldman

well rockets are paying 5 mil to k pap. whose career in europe was arguably less productive than llul’s (also i think rockets are already 2 million down just for draft rights to llul, someone its entirely possible will never set foot on american soil).

  • CJSHYY

So that means PB asked for more than 6M?! I believe Lin will get more than 8M.

  • Maknusia

Lakers’ overtime win is no help in lottery – By Mike Bresnahan

It should have been forgotten as soon as it ended, the lack of quality play dropping the game to a level somewhere between D-League and the old CBA. But if the Lakers somehow lose their top-five-protected pick, this will be one of the games they remember.

There were plenty of curiosities in this one, starting with perfectly healthy big men Carlos Boozer and Jordan Hill sitting out again because,um, just because. (The company line: Time to look at all our young post players!)

Jeremy Lin also disappeared Wednesday, leaving the game with 11:21 left in the fourth quarter and never returning despite accruing 19 points and five assists.

    His thoughts afterward?

“I’m not going to answer that question. Next question, please,” he said. A minute later, he opened up a bit.

“I’m a competitor. I want to play but … My whole thing that I’ve learned in my five years is control what I can control and leave the rest up to God.”

  • Rookie75094

Dear Lord…Thank you for continue blessings Jlin with good stats games and keeping him healthy….however I humbly request for one additional blessing…please also grant the tankers with a 10 games winning streak to close the season with sprinkles of Linsanity so at least the tanker fans can experienced the joy of victories instead of the agony of defeats…. Amen

  • CJSHYY

Everyone knew it’s tanking but JC didn’t want to look bad for his stats.. smh!

  • Keith

    hahaha

  • Rookie75094

I hope the hustun rockettes offer him the max.

  • Maknusia

I dont think thats a fair statement in the context of the game…

  • Maknusia

    40pt game?!!!! GO LIN!!! 🙂

  • CJSHYY

I think if not for him to make all the FT they would loss the game already. BS should just use his tank players like Johnson & Hill instead of JC & Brown.

  • CJSHYY

Just like what Chinese said… 啞巴吃黃蓮有苦說不出

  • Marie Simon

    lolol!!!

  • Chipdip

I believe the coach controls the game and this time did not meet his own goal. In my daily language: he fck up. I won’t blame the players. He put JC out and sit Lin and thought they will give away the game, almost did. He could also sit JC and put Sacre out …

  • Chipdip

I do this in my gym class and it is .. hard 🙁
haha… I am probably a lot weaker than I know.

  • Dan Cohen

wow.. must be someone with time on their hands or either a teenager. It’s something I would do when I was a teen.

  • Chipdip

Join the Raptors… best city! OK I am biased, I live here. 😉

  • Marie Simon

this is so awesome, Jeremy would really appreciate this so much, why not send this to him.

  • Dan Cohen

actually I was thinking of hopeing they go to DOUBLE OT.. I think jc has 5 fouls already? so he might fould on the double ot…and then lin will come in.. (bs assistant has no choice then). A well rested lin against this tired minn team where the defense isn’t even there will spell lin explosion.

  • JoeTeam

  • Brent Yen

BTW, Levine was added to the victim list of Lin’s grand larceny. Good to see

  • Briiick

    LOL

  • Gotta love it. Jeremy sends a message that he cares about #MakingPlays #TakeItAndFly

The clips on making a split-second decision to drive, steal and drain a 3 in B&W are EPIC to show what he’s all about!
    Good job whoever made it

  • Dan Cohen

Wow. that. was. cool… and true.

  • joyce ward

    What??

  • Dan Cohen

should be someone in adidas right.

  • linspiredinla

    K!

  • Probably yes ..
It feels like a new approach to tweet with short clips. Great stuff!
This is the power of social media

  • joyce ward

Yeah he is. Lin is smart, he is marketing his brand heavily in Asis and I suspect with him endorsing the TagHuer watch brand is he is also taking his brand to Europe.

  • joyce ward

    That is very good

  • Dan Cohen

I rarely compliment on certain things due to my high standards, but this is the sh-t.
This hits home because it IS what he is really about.. the commercial has sincerity in it… If you have someone, say harden.. it will not hit home.

  • Maknusia

He is showcasing how a true PG should play! Go Lin…happy that he made his statement

  • joyce ward

It was addidas. Notice how it came out right after the greta game he had and benched in 4th quarter so they could tank. I bet lin will get more minutes when he palys Toronto.

  • Brent Yen

He picked so many PG’s pocket since ASB. I just love to see that..

  • Maknusia

    LOL=Lose Only Lakers?

  • Samuel

Would love to see “Lin for the win…BANG!!!” in Air Canada again, but very unlikey, Lin will be benched in the 4th qt as usual.., tank = cheat, Adam Silver needs to look into it and punish the Lakers for that.

  • Charlie S

Remember it is not tanking, it is evaluating young players. Because the whole preseason, there was no time to evaluate them. Only now there is time.

  • Maknusia

Coach would be trying harder on the next game!…sigh!

  • Maknusia

nice….and I think he will get back the drive to the basket number…right up there…post ASG games

  • Brent Yen

anyway to check it? NBA.com does not allow the split for sortable stats.

  • Maknusia

not bad…close to mine as well! 🙂 Lets pull him to north!

  • stam

I would love to see Lin play more too. But something to consider is that Lin would have cooled down by then and it might increase his risk for an injury, especially since the refs were allowing them to “play” through the fouls. Everyone loves to foul jeremy hard.

  • Samuel

Some said Lakers aren’t tanking, they can’t win just because Scott can’t coach. After last night, it’s very clearly what Lakers are doing now, evaluating young players my butt, Kelly is young, Ellington is young, but Lin is old? give me a break already.

  • Maknusia

yup…we all know “young players grow”= tanking…seems this is a new key phrase in NBA…sigh

  • Brent Yen

    LOL…..

  • Dan Cohen

thank you. exactly, they don’t care if they win or lose, they just want to see who got the juice and how they do in pressure games.. like last night’s ot.

  • Charlie S

I should add I’m mocking the Lakers PR use of evaluating

  • Brent Yen
  • Samuel

nothing to LOL about, I still can’t get over with, since when you get punished for having good games?
back to back 19 points games from Lin, yet being benched in clutch time in both games!

  • Adidas has been good to Jeremy indeed.

I think we’ll see coaches want to tank even harder due to the unexpected wins vs PHI and MIN.
And Lin knows that so I expect he’ll do most of damage in Q3 since he knows he might get pulled in Q4

I could be wrong but Lin’s strong plays recently just scare coaches but they know they can’t just bench him like they did to Boozer/Hill due to Lin’s large fanbase

  • Maknusia

    Yeah…sure we all buy that!…smh

  • Samuel

How about Pressey and Scott to grow a pair and just admit they are tanking?
watching Clarkson takes away Lin’s playing time and shots makes me even angrier..

  • Maknusia

I think initially they were not trying to tank…but half way thru they would have realized BScott is a tank master rather than a a showtime coach. Hence FO quietly agreed to tank

  • joyce ward

    OK…LOL

  • JoeTeam

Do youvthink adidas helped Lin negotiate the pt ? … seems they have the power to influence the fo.

  • IMO we need to be ready for Lin getting fewer minutes or even some DNPs because coaches are afraid of losing their jobs for blowing the tank w/ unexpected Ws vs PHI and MIN.

They benched Boozer/Hill to take away rebounding in the name of “rebuilding” but they still unexpectedly blew the tank vs MIN.
I expect they’ll be ready to do anything to lose the next few games.

And Lin knows that so I expect he’ll do most of damage in Q1-Q3 since he knows he might get pulled in Q4

It’s a good thing Lin has such a large fanbase so that might scare coaches to give him DNPs like they did to Boozer/Hill.
But desperate coaches do desperate things.

  • JoeTeam

First the calls. Then sponsors with power. … … …

  • joyce ward

I think he will play more minutes becasue last night was such a bad debacle of tank theat the refs couldn’t stand it any longer, they just called a foul. Also it was pretty obvious what they were doing so much now that the light has shown so bright on the Lakers. Also TCW Sportsnetwork naming Lin player of the game was kind of weird, and all of a sudden stu is in love with Lin. Something is up., Stu and TCW got orders from somebody to change their dialogue on Lin. Mitch is out of the country, so it might have been Jeannie, because she says she reads her tweets.

  • JoeTeam

Starting to think that was adidas anchoring lin

  • I am The Jason

    This is hilarious

  • joyce ward

I think theyt will stick with giving lin 29-30 minutes a game. I also think that Pressey messed up last night because the two games that they wanted to win to give them a cushion were with the Clippers because Scott hates them.

  • joyce ward

Yeah, even TCW and stu gushing about lin.

  • Brent Yen

I think they have decided to go full tank mode since Randle went down and Kobe went rogue.

  • Brent Yen

It really just depends on if LAL is still thinking they can sign Lin or not.

  • Sophie Paris

    The lelkers

  • Samuel

Scott will be back for next game, but it doesn’t really matter. And if Clippers lead by 10 or more points after the third qt, more “evaluating time” for Clarkson and bench time for Lin..

  • Samuel

So both Lakers and TWolves are tanking, at least TWoles have class and left their best players on the floor to finish the game, how about those Lakers? punishing your players just because they are having a good night? this is just wrong!!

Now Clarkson is the only one who allows to have good games and doesn’t need to worry about being punished, Lin will never get the treatment like that, good or bad nights, they will always find a reason to bench Lin..

  • Samuel

You wish Lin resigns with them? can’t imagine Lin to deal with not 1 not 2 but 3 ballhuggers next year 🙁

  • Brent Yen

I don’t, just saying how much Lin plays depends on what FO thinks and if coaches obey that or not.

  • Samuel

What team(s) you have in mind?
There are many fans want Lin to play for Mavs or Hawks, but I would like to see Lin to play for a ballhugger free team where he can start, I don’t mind if it’s a bad team..

  • Brent Yen

    Or maybe Tag Heuer?

  • joyce ward

The Lakers are ina a dilemma. If they give Rondo the max salary it blows their cap salary. They want to rebuild through the draft, which to me is a crap shoot. They are doing all of ths because they can’t stand up to kobe. I bet Rondo will stay where he is in Dalllas, because it is way to much drama with the Lakers. What really would kick them in the teeth, if lin signed with the Clippers..LOL

  • joyce ward

Kobe will go rogue again. They never learn

  • Brent Yen

It is possible that they sign Rondo and ride out the time with Kobe tho. So basically the major decision will only be made after Kobe is gone.

  • Brent Yen

I think he is better playing for a contending team in his prime. Although that means he is unlikely to start for them. But something has to give…

  • Brent Yen

    Exactly.

  • Brent Yen

I do think Rondo can be signed without a MAX contract

  • CJSHYY

Me too. He is not hot anymore.

  • CJSHYY

Mav maybe but Hawks no, their own PG plays well don’t think Lin will make it.

  • Samuel

If Lin plays for a bad team from the East, there is still a chance that Lin can lead them to the playoffs, they don’t need to have a strong roster, they just need to let Lin to play his game, and we all see that happened before.

  • Brent Yen

I know, but he can do that after he passed his prime too.

  • CJSHYY

I agree w you. They do want to win in the beginning but later found out maybe tank it’s the only way to go for this season… smh!

  • joyce ward

Question: Has John Ireland been appointed Lin’s news reporter. He seems to be the one that interviews him all the time?

  • Samuel

How many minutes can Lin get by backing up Ellis? also even Lin gets to start with him, don’t forget Ellis likes to handle the ball and shoots a lot, it’s like Houston and LA all over again..

  • DLin

Khuang and others – are you guys very worried that JLin will garner
very little interest in FA? He isn’t even considered a top 30 PG by GMs
(see below) and is ranked below Beverly. Maybe we Lin fans live in a bubble that is far from reality.

  • Brent Yen

    LOL…..

  • Brent Yen

Not saying it is good to play with a ball hog. But, I believe Lin will do better this time if he somehow still ended up with one.

  • Rookie75094

    the leakers

  • CJSHYY

Well thanks to Lakers FO, Lin was list #3 PG for Lakers so he is not even a back up … (before he moved back to starter…) no need to pay too much attention on this.

  • Samuel

there aren’t many ballhuggers in NBA today, but why Lin has to play with at least one whereever he goes? lol

  • Samuel

    KHunagsanity doesn’t post here anymore..

  • Samuel

The list above is based on “opinion”, so if you interview 30 Lin fans then Lin would end up in top 5 or even higher.
As for last night, ESPN ranks Lin as 15th best PG in the league, and I believe their reanking is based on “numbers”.

  • Brent Yen

    That is beyond me….no clue…lol

  • CJSHYY

I know plus Lin maybe not on the list… Bc most of them are starters for a while unlike Lin as #3 bench player. smh! It all depends on your team to promote you or not. Lakers sure did a good job on lower Lin’s value in market. smh!

  • I am The Jason

None of these guards have coaches that stiffen their game like what Byron Scott is doing to Lin.

  • CJSHYY

    Exactly.

  • Don’t worry. Lin’s strong plays with #16 ranked PER after All-Star Break (as Paul tweeted below) will register in all GMs report . Also big name PGs in the FA will only be Dragic and Rondo (who played worse than Lin) so there is limited # of PGs in the market in July 2015.

    https://twitter.com/CNM_JLin_Vids/status/581082659557912576

Plus, there are many articles praising JLin based on his 29-pt/5a/5r PHI win as a good showcase to help him get a good contract although it might not be as good as $8M/yr. Here’s one of them from non-Lin fan
    http://hoopshabit.com/2015/03/23/los-angeles-lakers-jeremy-lin-uses-win-showcase/

Jeremy Lin is certainly not going to earn the amount of money as he did on his last contract, and it’s unclear whether he should have received such a lucrative deal based on a few months of out-of-his-mind play, dubbed as “Linsanity.” But, he should have a decent deal waiting for him from a quality team looking for a solid bench piece. Lin has proven that he can be exactly that, and that his willingness to simply show up won’t be phased by adversity.

Whether it’s from the Los Angeles Lakers, or from another team, Jeremy Lin is going to get an offer to be a real piece of someone’s team. And despite all the negativity surrounding his 2014-15 season, that fact alone is positively impressive.

  • linspiredinla

JLin: “I can only control what I can control and leave rest to God”. How recent was this as opposed to ESPN rating?

  • linspiredinla

Lin has always said money is not an issue with him.

  • LAJane

Now that’s how you make a great-looking, effective vid. Love the Tag Heuer “Never Crack Under Pressure” endorsement, but they could learn a thing or two about sizzling presentation from Adidas ’cause the short they did with Lin/Sharapova/Ronaldo was pretty clumsy compared to this.

  • joyce ward

Ok didn’t know. He fills in for Mike Trudell?

  • CJSHYY

I agree. If Lin is not good why Lakers cares so much about him now? And other teams coach wants to focus on him only? He said himself he is not worry about the FA. So he must have pretty good idea what’s going on w his FA this summer.

  • true, Lin will take less money to play for a coach/org that can offer mutual trust.

As for NBA, they use the money/contract as justification to make a certain player the focus of the franchise (i.e. Harden $80M/5-yr contract). So it is useful to measure the level of commitment of an organization to a player but shouldn’t be the main focus for Lin. I expect HOU will tempt by offering some money since they can cash in more in China. Lin should say “no, thank you” and run =)

  • LAJane

    He’s cute, Period.

  • joyce ward

WE will see. Lakers are quite desperate at the moment. Besides kobe will manipulate them into doing it.

  • LAJane

LOL…the pic does look bothersome :)…but the reality is Jeremy is always gracious. Has great fans, and is great to them.

  • joyce ward

BTW, Morey and company in Spain to offer Sergio llul(PG) $17 million dollars over 3 years.

  • joyce ward

I don’t know. Scott hate Clippers just like the Bucks. Also it will be in the Staple Center. Claarkson and crew won’t be able to run buck wild there because the fans will boo them out of the stadium. Lakers have to put on a good performance there. The Cllippers will win, but the Lakers will have a good showing.

  • Brent Yen

That is kind of low for a starter. I think he is better than Beverley

  • joyce ward

You know Morey, he will always try to low bid somebody. Also they were saying that he plays like lin. I couldn’t believe they posted that.LOL

  • CJSHYY

So they are not going to offer Lin the contract anymore? They don’t want PB either?

  • Brent Yen

Then why not just sign Lin, or keep Lin………LOL

  • Briiick

Dragic has not even taken his team to the playoff for so many years, SMH.

  • tin3ytina

maybe as a backup option? since there’s a chance lin won’t go back to houston, they’re not gonna just sit around and wait for him to sign

  • CJSHYY

They need 2 PGs if PB is not going to stay.

  • tin3ytina

rockets wanting lin back was all rumor though. no one knows if they’re even gonna offer him anything.

  • Really? LOL Now Lin is the standard measure of PG to complement Harden :]

  • joyce ward

    Yeah. I guess Lin is.

  • linspiredinla

Does anyone have access to Kevin Pelton’s article ranking PG plays by WAR & WARP? I’am not subscriber & can’t read whole article please post here if you do. LAL is number 18.

  • Brent Yen

    exactly

  • Faces in the Crowd during JLin TOR Game Winner 14/2/12
I always enjoy seeing the reaction on different faces in the crowd, some with joy and others with heartbreak.

But I would vote for these 2 TOR Raptor fans holding “Happy VaLintine” sign as the best fan picture of Lin’s Game-Winner.
The 2nd picture showed the guy posed with a joyful scream to a phone camera.

Note: Also check out other faces in the crowd

  • And here is the Youtube video to relive Linsanity moment that hopefully we will regain as soon as next season!

Note: 2 bonus pics of Lin’s about to launch the Game Winner and crowd reaction at the moment of Game-Winner

  • CJSHYY

I think bc PB maybe can’t play anymore for the rest of season so they do need a PG now. If they can get Lin he can be a backup or just trade him to the other team. Morey can always send the player to 76…

  • I’ve been watching Dragic since he was in the Suns before HOU years.
His skill-size is similar to Lin but he has tendency to disappear during big games. I remember his huge playoff performance vs the Spurs in 1 game but then he disappeared in the next game.

I’d say Lin has more clutch gene, the bigger the moment the better he is!

  • yes, the fact that Lakers care so much means they know Lin has other interested teams so they want to be on the good terms with him, in case he wants to come back next season or in 2 years after Kobe retires for good

Otherwise, Lin will get Boozer/Hill treatment to be benched. And no Linsanity DVDs/starting in the last 13 games.

  • orLinaryjoe

    We’ll take that as compliment.

  • CJSHYY

I don’t think he means money… more like he has few offers.

  • Check out Westbrook’s exchange with a reporter after a loss LOL
Lin is already an All-Star in how to be savvy in dealing with the media compared to Westbrook 🙂

  • CJSHYY

Dragic don’t have good D. I think he has good stats bc he got the playing time & took more shots than Lin. If Lin could play like he is now from the beginning of season he will have great stats.

  • Alaingrvis

There’s in no question rockets will offer Lin a contract. With how he has develop they may over pay him. Lin is probably the best pg option next year. Rando is trash. Hope he go to la so Lin goes to macs

  • golfhacker

Scott, however, might rank first in trying to tank.

  • Rookie75094

the rockettes can take their contract and shove it up their…….

  • Alaingrvis

Let them make an offer so Lin can up the price. Also as a Lin fan I will go where ever he goes but I’m praying for macs or what ever team mad coaches. Personally I’d chose the macs mad can’t coach defense. Lin wants a ring

hay, wake up, Rocket is going to get their dream PG

Rockets to offer Sergio Llull a $17-19 million contract over three years

  • TTNN

Lin is not going back…. the third time.

  • TTNN

only him and Mike is allowed. He said once in radio that is because both of them has worked in Clippers on their 60 games lose season, thus they are qualified. 🙂

  • Sophie Paris

Yeah I don’t think they’ll offer him something. They dumped him just last year.

  • Sophie Paris

Don’t worry Byron, you rank the last in my heart. LOL

  • Arsenium12 .

Apparently, Llull is under contract with Real Madrid until 2019. So, in addition to whatever the Rockets give him they’re going to have to buyout his contract. That might be another 4.5 million (to Real Madrid).

    See : http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/26/rockets-reportedly-plan-to-offer-sergio-llull-about-17-million-over-three-years/

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Have you not figured that most of those GMs didn’t draft Lin? And some even cut him?

  • 1mtoldman

hmm previous posters here that it kind of high (for a 7 year euro averaging 9 points and 2 assists).

  • 1mtoldman

if shaw were still around they could corral the bottom of the market by ex laker guards.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    That’s nonsense.

First, let me answer your question about whether we Lin fans are delusional dreamers who are divorced from reality. After having observed the participants of this forum for some time, I’d say they are among the most realistic and informed basketball fans I’ve come across.

I’ve seen the purpose of this forum more to serve as a place where Lin fans can gather for discussion with a minimum amount of buzzkill attempts calculated to bring us down — as happens with frequency in other places. I appreciate the admins here keeping that to a minimum.

As for this particular GM survey, who knows? Were the GM’s given a list to rank PGs? Was Lin even on the list? Was any Laker PG?

But beware of relying on any public indications by GMs in the weeks before free agency begins. If you were a GM who is interested in securing Jeremy Lin’s services at a “reasonable” price, would you seek to promote his visibility in the upper ranks of the PG group?

All is well. The basketball world, players, coaches, media seem to be coming to Lin fans’ point of view these days. GMs see that, but nobody is going to put their cards on the table now.

  • 1mtoldman

since the asg in games when lin has been given more than his season avg of 26.9 minutes he is averaging 19.2 points per game. (that is not a “per 36”) that is a per game ave. (in games given more than his season ave. minutes of 26.9).

in the 9 games lin has been given minutes over his season ave. the lakers actually have a winning record! 5-4

in the 8 games lin has been given minutes less than his season ave. the lakers are 1-7

tank lesson: keep lin’s minutes under his season ave.

overall lesson for teams not looking towards tanking in the future: lin gets minutes, lin gets points, team wins.

note: “what about assists?” i dont bother with assists cause lin always gets assists no matter how little or poorly they play him. thats whats staggering across the various indignities of this season he has still in whatever limited role ave. 4-5 assists a game regardless each month.

(lins ave. minutes since asg overall: 26.4)

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL Surprise:-) I basically only vote 15/5 throughout the season. That’s my hope for JLin to archieve at least each game because of his yo-yo playing time with silly sub teammates.

  • joyce ward

Ok, guys, I think I have had my most embarrassing moment of all times today. Me and a coworker were leaving work today, we were talking about lin and the Lakers. We were talking about how good lin is looking and getting more buff. She said she likes his hair, and then she started talking about kobe and scott. She said scott wouldn’t know a play if it bit him on the nose and she said kobe needs to sit his old tired self down, because nobody was interested in him. She really hates kobe. she really went in on talking about him, and we started laughing. She said I have to go back to the machine and get some money. We turned around heading back to the ATM and Lin’s brother is right behind us. We both put our heads down and kept walking fast. She said, you think he heard us, and I said, YEA!!!, he was walking right behind us…that was so embarrassing.

  • CJSHYY

Wow! What’s his face expression? Happy? LOL!

  • I haven’t heard about the summer plan. But I feel bad about Landry in TOR .. he kept getting injured and not getting enough PT. Maybe he also needs to work with Doc Scheppler to fix his shooting

  • Rick Johnson

    https://twitter.com/JLin7/status/581245550948823040

    From Wikipedia:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Musselman
Like Green, Jeremy Lin has also credited Musselman with aiding his development. In February 2012, Lin said that when he played for Musselman in the D-League, “he gave me the opportunity to play through mistakes.”[22]

On August 11, 2010, Musselman was named head coach of the NBA Development League’s Reno Bighorns. With several players called up to the NBA including Marcus Landry and Jeremy Lin, the Bighorns finished 34–16 and first in the D-League Western Conferernce.[8][9]

  • joyce ward

We kind of noticed him when we turned around and we immediately looked down and kept walking

  • LOL …Josh Lin will certainly text Jeremy today
“Bro, you wouldn’t believe what 2 girls were talking about you in the hallway today!
Whatever you do, just keep working out to be Buff!”
    hehe..

  • Lin is a loyal guy indeed, he never forgets those who helped him out when things were tough.

  • joyce ward

That was so embarrassing. Also she was really going into about kobe. Also lately i have been talking to some die hard kobe fans and they are ready for him to go. They all seem surprised that lin might leave. They don’t want him to.

  • oh, are those Harvard shirts? I thought it was Raptors.
Well, that would make more sense then 🙂
    Thanks!

  • CJSHYY

    What’s Nevada? College or DL?

  • CJSHYY

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I think LF is not in good shape.. He almost never on court if he did he couldn’t shoot either. Not sure where he can go this FA?!

  • joyce ward

I think a lot of laker fans was so disgusted with this season that they finally pulled their head out of the sand and realized that no “star” athlete will come here while kobe is here. And they all said H3LL no to Rondo.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL That’s so funny Joyce! Can’t stop laughing:-) Thought you are going to talk to him when you meet him in the hospital. Instead you couldn’t get away from him fast enough:-) Sorry! Can’t resist not to tease you:-)

  • joyce ward

Yeah, I know. I actually got on the elevator with him about a month ago, and I got up the nerve to ask him if he was Jeremy Lin’s brother, he hesitated at first and smiled and said yes. I asked how are they liking LA, and he said that they love LA. That was it.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Ok. Guess you were more nervous than him:-) Maybe he wasn’t expected to be recognized by non-Chinese JLin fans:-)

  • joyce ward

I think LF might be trying to do something else besides basketball..

  • joyce ward

I think that was it. I also thinks he is a little shy. He was very nice. As he got off the elevator he turned around and said have a nice day.

  • I’m not sure.. maybe if he’s healthy, he can get a vet minimum contract in the NBA but if not, he might have to play outside US first to show he can still play.

[They all seemed surprised that lin might leave.] That’s not an uncommon reaction. One of Byron Scott’s recent quotes made me wonder if he thought Jeremy was a restricted free agent this year. Also, if you read some of the established Laker boards, you’d come away with the impression that Laker fans seem to think Jeremy would jump at the opportunity for another chance with the Lakers — if the Lakers decide to be charitable and let him sit on their bench for another few years.

Where the [bleep] does that come from? Why would anyone (even Kobe fans) be surprised that Jeremy wants nothing more to do with their guy or his embarrassing team?

Jasmine is really pretty and she knows how to beguile men. She is super intelligent, but she is also very prissy, but she is not afraid to go after what she wants. She really likes lin a lot. We both think that lin is super hot. I am kind of reserved with mine, she will go after what she wants.

  • joyce ward

  • Sophie Paris

    Hi ^^

  • FrankW

They should retire Kobe from basketball and promote him to executive

  • joyce ward

Lakers should buy him out. If you live in LA, there is always somebody who knows somebody , whether it be a hair dresser or barber or make up artist and my friend Jasmine has connections like that. She knows a lot about Kobe and his inner circle. She won’t divulge any information, but she did say that kobe has to keep playing.

  • FrankW

I don’t think so, hearing a lot of nasty things being in the locker room and gym most his life. I must say they had a clip of Lin, Young and some of the other Lakers guys in the locker room goofing off – pretty hilarious.

    G: Jeremy Lin, Lakers

When SI.com checked in with Lin back in October, L.A.’s new point guard sounded very much like a guy trying to make the most of an uncertain situation. He had just been named the Lakers’ starting point guard, but he wasn’t sure how long that would last. He heard the news from the media rather than directly from coach Byron Scott, and it still wasn’t totally clear how he would coexist with Kobe Bryant, the Lakers’ alpha and omega.

Lin lasted as the starter until early December, when he was replaced by veteran Ronnie Price. More recently, promising rookie Jordan Clarkson has stepped into the starting role for the Lakers, a sensible developmental call for a floundering team that lost Bryant to injury. Along the way, the Scott/Lin marriage has seemed less than ideal, with the coach publicly calling for better decision-making and looking for more consistency.

One wonders whether the long slog of a Lakers season that was dead on arrival, and somehow got more depressing as it unfolded, will shape Lin’s priorities this summer. In the past, the implication was that he wanted to start and have the opportunity to run his own show, after playing second fiddle to Carmelo Anthony in New York and then James Harden in Houston. The Lakers will remain Bryant’s next season, a fact that should weigh heavily in Lin’s thinking. This year, the Lin/Bryant combination posted a net rating of -13.6 and an atrocious defensive rating of 115.6 in 663 minutes together. That’s unsalvageable, and Lin, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, would do well to explore all of his other options before subjecting himself to another year of guaranteed frustration.
Plus, even when Bryant went down the Lakers weren’t really willing to turn things over to Lin. Despite L.A.’s 18-51 record, Lin has played his fewest minutes per game since his rookie season with Golden State, averaging 11.2 points and 4.7 assists while shooting 43.5 percent overall. If one of the league’s worst teams isn’t willing to give him the car keys after its star goes down, might it be time for a reevaluation? What’s a truly more desirable life in the NBA: as a sometimes-starter on a terrible team or as a solidified third-guard for a team going places? Tellingly, he wasn’t included by NBA personnel on a recent ESPN.com survey of the league’s top 30 point guards.

Asked recently about Lin’s future, Scott told reporters: “It’s just a matter of what happens in the draft and everything else that kind of determines what we’re going to do in the free agent market.” That sounds like a polite way of saying that Lin isn’t the franchise’s top priority. And, frankly, he shouldn’t be. The Lakers need to be swinging for the fences, both in the lottery and free agency, and Lin’s ceiling has settled on “serviceable” rather than the spectacular destiny that Linsanity briefly promised. Playing in L.A. offers Lin a huge stage, but exposure and visibility seem like they should be pretty far down the totem pole when it comes to his next landing spot. What, really, do the Lakers have to offer Lin?

Don’t be embarrassed, Joyce. Nothin’ wrong with liking J’s new hairstyle and his buff body…you’ve got plenty of company in that. I think Josh would find it a compliment to his bro. If I overheard something like that about my brother, I’d be delighted. Dunno about Josh, but girls being gabby I’d for sure tell him about it 🙂 Also nothing wrong with throwing shade on Kobe. You guys have a LOT of company in that too. Jeremy won’t say anything direct himself, but I’ll bet hearing that office-talk will get a little snort between him and Josh. Serious fans keeping it real! Josh’ll probably be remembering you now…is that a bad thing? 😀

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    PFV’s comment on this game.

  • LAJane

Pick another department…Mr. Death Stare is a real party-pooper.

  • LAJane

LOL…I really think that would terrify Jeremy.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Byron Scott sets up Lin to fail but Jeremy overcomes and starts clicking after ASG.

The point is Jeremy is still developing after his 3.5 seasons of playing in NBA. He has proved that he is a game changer.
The style of basketball in LA is the worst possible one for Lin but he finally makes it work. He has proved to be an adequate defensive player while his offense often dominates the game and get his teammates involved to blow the game wide open.

My bet is Jeremy’s career as a player has a better future than Byron’s career as a coach at this point.

  • Rick Johnson

So with Toney Douglas on the NOP and they play the Lakers next week Wednesday. He’s been good friends with JLin I’m sure there will be a warm greeting. He’s a good defensive guard that played well with JLin. I wish the Lakers had picked him up.

  • FrankW

I was being facetious in light of the video-bomb celeration.

  • Brent Yen

Man….what a garbage piece from SI

  • FrankW

Poor Toney had only 3 games, but in those 3 games his PER is
better than Tony Parker and Jeremy Lin, LOL. Hope Tony and Jeremy have lunch
    together again.

  • Briiick

Someone gets motivated by some interested teams (LAL included) to write this types of articles to lower the player’s expectation for their benefit.

  • leeda harun

we based jlin performances by PER…..I wonder S.I and ESPN based the analysis on what? Will this latest article going to affect jlin chances in tge free agency?

  • JLin Fan from Australia

  • Briiick

They try to lower the expectation of Lin with an invisible hand, while attempting to repair the relation with an open hand.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lol. The messenger will deliver your message.

  • Briiick

As Lin fans, we shouldn’t spread this type of article with possible agenda against Lin. Instead, we should promote those sunny, pro-Lin articles and authors.

  • leeda harun

adidas cant find some one that resembles lin? Lol

  • CJSHYY

Why Lin only show up for few sec?!

  • JoeTeam

You have to give him a hug next time for me, mmmkayy?

  • John Lee

ESPN ranks former Lakers as worst coaches in the NBA, behind little-known interim coaches James Borrego (ORL) and Melvin Hunt (DEN). BS actually lucked out, I would’ve ranked him 31st because for tanking’s sake, he injures players via absurd “conditioning” routines meant to tire out players before the games. Not to mention he regularly throws players under the bus, and even makes fun of player’s appearance (NY’s hair). BS is not just lowest of the low as a coach, he’s simply a bad human being. At the very least, Fisher defends his players’ efforts.

  • John Lee

I’m bidding on Taiwan for the next three years. Surely Jeremy’s gotta stop by AIT, and that’s where I’ll get to meet him and take photos. LOL

  • linspiredinla

@Librafree tweeted me that there is a better version soon. I told her I thought it was poorly done. JLin was hardly visible.

  • CJSHYY

I really think Fisher is 10 times better than BS if you compare two of them the way how they treat their own players on the team. Even NYK is not good in record but Fisher is not evil & means to his players like BS. smh!

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I can’t see Lin that much from this video…

  • Michael

    Could he be stalking you!!!

  • Acbc

Haha, the Lakers watching another tanking, embarrassing, once proud franchise like the Leafs. Are they hoping to learn something about how not to make FTs in order to lose!

  • Acbc

Exhaust pipe!? That’s how rockets fly you know. If something blocks the Rockets blowhole, it can sputter and crash during lift off in the playoffs again. Lol

  • Yascar

It actually doesn’t say much about Jeremy’s performance, just perceptions and biases. It is right in one thing. Jeremy should never even think about going back to LA. What a disappointment from SI.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • CJSHYY

Looks like lots of players went to the game… Since Lakers wants to tank so no need to practice at all… LOL

  • Brent Yen

I thought he said he is gonna sleep until Friday’s shoot around…lol

  • CJSHYY

He said day time…I guess this is the entertainment from Lakers offer for tanking…LOL!

  • Acbc

It was a need to attend meeting to watch a really “good” tanking team lose.

  • Acbc

IMO, the invisible hand is “motivating” something unmentionable on a family forum.

  • Brent Yen
  • Kwok Wai Lai

Toney is a real good sport. Still love to see him on the court.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This is an article to diss Jeremy and others.
The league is inclining to run with superstars and draft choices. Lots of free agents doesn’t get the money they deserve because teams tank for draft choices. Fans should revolt.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    a team in WCC.

  • Acbc

This is just a fluff piece of lazy writing. No need to bring garbage like this to smell up the site. WE ALREADY KNOW WHAT THE GENERAL PERCEPTION IS. We get that 24/7 in real life. What we choose to discuss here is ways to protect our minds from such drivel with facts and stats.

When mindless pieces like this get written, it’s basiclly a yes piece to stroke the egos of the so call experts that failed miserably in recognizing the talent in Lin.

What really matters is what the front line coaches do whenever they face Lin. What matters is how each non tanking team makes every effort to taylor their defense to stopping Lin. Only great players get that type of respect from opposing coaches.

Opinion pieces don’t have to base it on anything else but opinions. Is it truth? Is a glass half empty or half full. Lin has always gotten the half empty glass opinion…WE ALL KNOW THAT. What annoys us is how insignificant players like Bev or Price gets the half full treatment for no other reason than THATS THEIR OPINION. In their opinion, they like these low level players. In their opinion, they DONT like Lin. It’s their opinion to like or not like anything.

You do have a choice to stop giving these lazy writers their clicks though. I encourage you to do that and not get unnecessarily riled up by “opinions”

  • Kwok Wai Lai

A player needs an environment to succeed and most frequently the coach controls their fate unless the player is a superstar who dictates how he’s being used on the floor over a mediocre coach. Landry simply doesn’t have the player who will pass him the ball.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Jeremy needs his teammates roll with him but so far only big Ed Davis and Carlos Boozer did. Others just wait for him to be fed.

  • Maknusia

I can put @CJSHYY:disqus in the blacklist and ban him?!!!

  • guest

We should know what media are saying about Jeremy, good or bad. We should also respond to the writing with our comments.

  • Acbc

The NEED TO KNOW opinions is a false assumption. There is no such thing as good or bad opinions…there is ONLY OPINIONS. This forum sets its purpose to positively bringing Lin fans together. The key work being positively. Do we need to hear bad opinions? No. Bring us facts and not opinions. If the article had facts to base its findings other than opinions, then it merits attention.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

who else was at the hockey match alongside JLin?..Was it the entire team that went?

Jeremy can play for any team in NBA with no losses.

Lakers without Jeremy would have been a big loss to the franchise. They paid $15m for Jeremy but Byron Scott has started tanking and shackling Jeremy ever since Kobe was exposed by ESPN. That makes the FO look bad in dealing for Jeremy. Byron scott at the beginning of the season was virtually calling out the FO of making a raw deal trading for Jeremy. But Mitch Kupchak was mighty proud of getting Jeremy. This also deflated the ranking of the FO. Now Lakers FO was ranked next to the worst in NBA.

Byron Scott told us that Mitch Kupchak thought he did a good job. This is really unbelievable. We all know that Byron without Jeremy next season would have no players to play the PG for a winning season. Jordon Clarkson and Kobe will be left to score as many as they want but the team is going to lose many games next season; absolutely no chance to have a winning season in the West Conference. You don’t win a game by trading baskets. Jordon Clarkson is inefficient in running fastbreaks because he couldn’t control the flow of the game like Jeremy. Once he’s double teamed, he would turn over the ball like crazy.

Lakers without Jeremy next season will be a great setback for the franchise. Byron Scott is the one overdoing the abuses and personal attack on Jeremy. I don’t think he could ever make it up to Jeremy to retain him. The only other way to retain Jeremy would have to offer Jeremy a very substantial contract; much more than the other teams.

I’m so happy that Jeremy and his agent begins to take control of the situation. Before Jeremy’s commitment to Lakers, the Lakers would have serious problem selling their tickets. They might have to donate lots more of their tickets for charity to fill the arena. The only assurance of getting Jeremy’s service is the dumping of Byron Scott when Kobe is clearly losing his control in the franchise and Mitch Kupchak will play hard ball with Kobe Bryant and the ex-lakers all the way to rebuild the team.

I doubt that Lakers will get any star free agent or rookie to sell ticket next season. Nobody will be able to uphold Kobe and Byron Scott with declining TV rating and ticket sales. In view of this, Jeremy becomes the last straw.

The point is Jeremy Lin undoubtedly is a basketball star that Jordon Clarkson will never be. The franchise will have to keep LED or run the risk of losing big next season. The hope of acquiring a star free agent or draft choices to stir any wave in ticket sales and TV ratings are far fetching and unreal.

Rondo at the age of 29 and after a dismal experience in Dallas will give little help in Lakers revenues; hardly any comparing to his contract that Lakers needs to acquire him. It’s smells like bad deal financially for the Buss family. Nobody on the market could pick up Lakers as well as Jeremy’s Linsanity Prime. The future of Lakers doesn’t look good with the certainty of the return of Kobe and Byron Scott. The team is now or will be boring to watch w/o Jeremy.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Fisher hasn’t said silly things that Byron did. Byron Scott had made a fool of himself this whole season. Derek Fisher has kept his poise and composure in a dismal season. The order should be reversed but NY carries a bigger expectation this season with Phil Jackson. That’s why they are ranked the last after trading away all their star players except Melo.

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

Hey guys, heard on Mike & Mike (an ESPN radio show) this morning around 630AM (EST) – they were talking about whether Kentucky could beat the Knicks. Then Mike Greenberg mentioned the Lakers (and the Knicks) tanking and as an example to prove his point he described how Jeremy Lin had been playing really well but was taken out of the game around the 4th quarter and was never put in again.

I hadn’t heard JLin mentioned much on the NY ESPN radio since he left for the Rockets and it was great to hear him becoming relevant again.

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

Hi Joyce! fellow woman poster/fan here. I’ve been reading and enjoying your posts for a while now. Keep feeding us your insights and observations. The other one about your running into his brother was quite funny. I had an almost run in with JLin himself. I’ll post it another time. A really long story.

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

They mentioned JLin again on ESPN NY (7:16-7:17AM NY Time)!

  • Maknusia

    LOL…NY still loves JLIN! 😉 and welcome @Parent of an 8th Grader:disqus

  • Maknusia

but but @CJSHYY:disqus is the Kobe in this group…taking way too many shots!…lol

Jeremy Lin Gets The Hollywood Treatment – by Joseph Mackin

The Jeremy Lin saga (or mystery, or tragedy–take your pick) continues in Los Angeles. Since it’s Tinseltown let’s look at the screenplay. The mercurial villain–and evil denier of playing time–is head coach Byron Scott. With a gleaming head and tiny mustache, B. Scott once held great power in this smog-filled universe. But that was many years ago when players wore very short shorts. There wasn’t even a Staples Center back then. Scott’s return has plunged the Lakers universe into darkness.

The hero is Jeremy Lin, held down by forces beyond his control. Since he looks (and plays) like no other player in the league, the hero Lin confounds B. Scott, who doesn’t know what to do with him. Lin can score and pass, but like all great heroes he has an Achilles heel–he sometimes allows his opponent to score.

The hero often shows signs of brilliance–much as he has displayed in previous lives–but B. Scott irrationally fears this. B. Scott would rather lose games–as many as possible–than see this unusual player succeed and usher in a world he doesn’t understand. So Jeremy Lin plays just 22 minutes against the pathetic, league-worst New York Knicks–and the Lakers lose at home 101-94. In his 22 minutes Lin scored 14 points and had 7 assists.

  • joyce ward

    Thank you:)

  • shumga

At least Pressey didn’t do what Scott has done often before, which is throw Lin under the bus with some exaggerated or bogus reason such as bad defense, not driving the offense…and my favorite, lacking PG skills.

  • grover chang

Not in NY so thanks for sharing.

  • grover chang

    adidas makes some good ads.

  • K. P. Chan

That’s a good point, shumpa. OK, I’ll give Pressey a pass. But at this point Pressey has to keep it real too. Anyone still alleging Lin is not an NBA player ought to have his/her examined.

  • grover chang

i know these are still the highlights, but watching them makes you feel Jordan is a man and everyone else in the NBA right now are kids trying to pose as Jordan, including Lebron

  • LW

    Very humorous!

  • Maknusia

Which is infact true…one and only MJ! His love towards the game and to keep moving to the level is beyond comprehension. He pushed his envelope so far I doubt we would fine another player of his caliber, in the next 10 yrs or so. We use to drive 150miles just to watch his game…its such a beauty….you can feel his vibe while watching him play

  • joyce ward

Not trying to throw shade, but do you think Westbrook takes PEDS. I say this because he is never nice, he always seems enraged. Ex. when they reporter asked him a question about the team giving up 117 points. He got mad and started going off.

  • grover chang

The one thing about Lin during Linsanity that reminded me of Jordan was the timeliness of his highlight plays, they came at dramatic moments to give the feeling of excitement. Lin for that brief period seem to have the dramatic timing of the game to deliver the punch.

  • grover chang

    JR Smith

  • Maknusia

I think thats his personality, rather than PED…which is totally a different question all together 🙂

  • Maknusia

true…to me…he gave similar vibe during the Linsanity…its not about scoring alone, but carrying the team and running the show day in day out…you could see it from the teammates reaction

  • Arsenium12 .

I came upon this video yesterday. It’s from a March 20, 2012, game between the Knicks and Raptors. Jared Jeffries is talking to Lin and says something that makes him dissolve into laughter. This 9-sec clip has gotten almost 90,000 views.

  • Brewkowski

  • joyce ward

I don’t know, he seems to be a one man show in OKC, just wandering. I just put that out there becuse my brother thinks he is on something. He didn’t fare well against lin. Lin was too fast for him. Also there was one time when fouled lin and lin fell down, he just walked away, and laker teammates helped lin up.

  • CJSHYY

    Who is the host? Robin?

  • Maknusia
  • CJSHYY

Thank you so much. I really like Lin back to NY bc only they truly love him. If he only has NYK & Lakers. NYK is a lot better than Lakers. Melo & Fisher are not as bad, evil like Kobe & BS.

  • CJSHYY

    Almost the whole team went…

  • lleepar

According to discussions I vaguely recall on Knicks message boards back in those days, Jeremy’s reaction had nothing to do with anything Jeffries said. Apparently, Carmelo walked by and … er … ah … let a noisy one fly — just in front of Jeremy. (Notice Tyson Chandler’s nose twitch.) There were longer clips of that sequence around in 2012 that showed more, but I wouldn’t know how to find them now.

  • orLinaryjoe

True dat. See the crazy double teams on him, and how he handles the ball? The one hand handle and of course the “AIR”! Of course I read somewhere he took performance enhancing drugs, which I don’t think he really needed.

  • joyce ward

That was a good find. Thanks:)

  • 7iger

    SI = Scott’s Interim 🙂

  • Acbc

Jordan had the ability to create space with his physical speed and exceptional physical body control. There have been other great leaping players, Wilkins and Vince Carter could jump very high as well.

Jordan and Lin both could attack the rim because of the ability to manipulate and contort the body to shape it to fit into tight spaces.

The difference between Jordan and Lin is that Lin’s vision and quickness is in his mind while MJ was much more physical.

  • 7iger

MJ had too much air time not even fair.

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

It was Mike Greenberg of the Mike & Mike show. I listen to them almost on a daily basis and have not heard anything about Jeremy Lin until this morning. Last year, I used to listen to them for anything Rockets or Lin related with nothing. It was all about the Lakers! And I was so annoyed because they were playing poorly and the Rockets and JLin were so much more interesting. This year, I had expected to hear a lot more about JLin given his trade to the Lakers but nothing much on the Lakers once Kobe went down.

  • CJSHYY

Thanks. I know Mike Greenberg likes Lin a lot. Saw him on David L show once to talk about why NYK didn’t keep Lin …

  • Brent Yen
  • Parent of an 8th Grader

I gotta share with you guys my JLin story. Part I.

First watched him play point for Harvard when I took my kids to watch Columbia v. Harvard game. Knew nothing about him. I recall saying to my kids, “hey, that point guard is pretty good.” Didn’t make too much of the fact that he was Asian-American since I’ve seen quite a number of A-A athletes in the Ivy League sports arena.

He was in the Sports Illustrated soon after that game, if I recall correctly.

Then a couple of years go by. I took my kids to an Applebees for the first time. Sat down and the Nets v. Knicks game was on. I said, ‘Hey kids, isn’t that the point guard we saw at Columbia? He just came off the bench. I didn’t know he played for the Knicks.” (I had stopped watching the NBA and the Knicks for at least a decade at this point.) And JLin was pretty good.

NYC had no access to the Knicks game during this time and I had not learned about streaming so I kept up via ESPN just to see how he would do in the “next game.” And he kept playing so well. And the excitement in NYC was growing by the hour. Knicks. v. Lakers game – soooo much anticipation and excitement, and JLin did not let us down. I didn’t get to watch the game but heard about it from everywhere.

I finally got a chance to watch him on TV when the Knicks played the Heat, and needless to say, I was so disappointed for him. I still believed in his game, but I just felt kind of sad that it played out like that.

My regret is that I didn’t realize at that moment that it was a historical moment and that it was going to end just a quickly as it began. My brother was flying out from the westcoast and he said he felt like the flight attendants looked at him differently. LOL.

I could not believe when the Knicks did not resign him. It was a foregone conclusion in every New Yorker’s mind.

I’ll end Part I here. I have a Houston Rockets JLin story and an almost-ran-into the entire Lin clan story to share with you guys on another day.

Wow…a rare glimpse into JLin’s private life and feelings. I empathize with him even more now because most people had experience being trap in a bad situation and feeling helpless before. I am glad Jeremy can lean on his religion, his family and friends to help him get through this tumultuous period . A lesser man would have crack under the pressure a long time ago. Excellent article.

  • Brent Yen

“It’s a Monday afternoon in late February, and Lin and I have been catching up at a small brown dining table beneath a clock ornamented with ceramic pieces of sushi. By the time the hour hand ticks from salmon to spicy tuna, I notice that Lin, dressed in a gray hoodie and black athletic shorts, has been going out of his way to avoid saying the word Linsanity, a word he trademarked in 2012 to prevent strangers from profiting from his image. (Of his 10,381 words in our interview, he utters it exactly twice: once as part of the phrase “this, this whole Linsanity … thing,” as if using tongs to hold a diaper, and once when explaining why the term makes him uncomfortable.) In its place, Lin keeps substituting “New York,” referring to the shock of true global fame — the paparazzi who stalked him, the phantom knocks on his door at the downtown W Hotel — that urged him to hide from a city that venerated his success.”

    ———–
I am going to stop voting Linsanity. I guess if he does not like it, I should not…LOL Need to figure out something else to vote!

  • Briiick

How about voting for Linsanity 2.0?

  • Brent Yen

“When it comes to talking about work, though, those walls instinctively shoot back up. He cannot help but tune out his dad and mom, who call from Palo Alto with concerns about his well-being. He refuses to engage friends’ complaints about Lakers coach Byron Scott giving his starting job to little-known Ronnie Price in December, then to littler-known Jordan Clarkson in January. The backup’s backup isolates himself from the loved ones featured on that canvas board, from the people who cannot help but watch the games, read the articles, scroll down to the comments and emerge, in Lin’s words, “just super pissed off.”

“It got to a point where I had to tell all of them, ‘Look, I appreciate you guys being on my side,'” he says. “‘But all this stuff about how upset you guys are, or how bad you think this is, I don’t want to hear any of it. I can’t carry that negativity to work.'””

Once upon a time, there was a player who had to play with the worst 3 ballhogs in the league in the beginning of his career. He was marginalized by them, yet still outshined them and was eventually driven out of town by them…

  • 22cents

Adversity makes one strong! Things happened for a reason.
    Go JLIN!

  • PPP

    Tks

  • Wow, Pablo Torre managed to get an insider insight from Lin himself in dealing with the difficult BScott situations.
    This is a true gem!

  • oh well, there goes Linsanity out-of-the-window hehe..
It needs to be something bigger-and-better than Linsanity so he’s not stuck in a box of being a flash in the moment.

Let me create a separate post and perhaps a Poll on new name to replace Linsanity!

  • Brent Yen

Let’s go with JLin Prime for now, as @awarde:disqus has suggested. 😛

  • joyce ward

You know after reading this reminds me of Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan was the same way. Also, this was probaly written during the ASG Week, and I guess that is when lIn decided to “Let It Fly, and Take the Day”.

  • Brent Yen

May not be intentional, but I liked the publication timing too.

  • JW

I believe they are friends from Harvard days. He wrote something before as well when Lin was still in NY.

  • joyce ward

I think they have coordinated all of this with Lin/agent on when to release it. Lin has about 12+ games left.

  • yes, this is a great timing to get his names and story out plus his much improved numbers.
We should applaud Lin’s agents and team for working hard to feature him.

Lin’s strong recent games definitely helped his cause for the upcoming FA

  • Acbc

This is why I get so upset when Lin fans complain about every little thing lin does or doesn’t do. The negativity he faces is 100 times the negativity we feel watching him do his best while being subjected to mind games and outright mistreatment. We can’t even begin to imagine what Linhas to go through just to get up each day and smile into his mirror while shaving. HOW DOES HE DO IT WITH SUCH GRACE?

For our part, we can’t just look at how his trails make us feel. Yeah, we hate it when he has to play with both hands tied. We get to walk away and live a normal life. Lin lives it 24/7 with absolutely no escape. If I come across to heavy at times, it’s because I can really appreciate his battles within from my having worked with individual athletes. The little piece I wrote about LIN’S spiritual readiness is all about how an athlete needs to silence the self judgement and self hate in order to perform properly.

AS DIEHARD LIN FANS ON THIS POSITIVE LIN FORUM, ITS OUR DUTY TO HELP LIN TO SILENCE THAT NEGAIVITY. We all need to do our part to think how our comments can either help or add to his negativity.

  • joyce ward

Also I noticed that Pablo said one lin”s agents. Also it showed you what a nutcase kobe is. It also puy Scott in a very bad light. I love all of MDA quotes and I am glad lin is still in contact with him.

  • emz

Thank you. Honestly alot of the negativity and the conspiracy theories make me just shut off whatever I’m reading; it’s just as bad imho as people saying Lin is worth nothing or is ruining the Lakers on purpose. It’s like that quote about wrestling pigs.

  • Maknusia

well said mate! well said…..imagine how pissed we are if he dont have a good game…Lin would be feeling 100 fold…and he goes thru this day in day out…while we go on with our normal cheerful life!

  • Filler-up

Pablo Torre used to write for SI, and now this is ESPN feature cover story.

  • joyce ward

I love this quote from MDA, this exactly what Scott does to Lin:

“I think Jeremy can fit anywhere as a player,” D’Antoni says. “He’s that good. But he’s not Linsanity if you put him just anywhere. If you close the floor on him” — that is, if you don’t stretch out defenses, if you don’t leverage his yearning to attack the rim — “he’s going to look mediocre.”

  • I created a new post on Pablo Torre’s excellent article. I’ll add the poll to choose a new nickname to replace Linsanity soon.

    http://www.jlinportal.com/linsightful-lessons-from-isolation-play-espn-article-by-pablo-torre/

With 12 games left in the frustrating Lakers season, Pablo Torre managed to write another great article capturing Jeremy Lin’s thoughts on how he dealt with the difficulty of work. Many million thoughts and sleepless nights were spent searching for ways to analyze and do things better.

The well-written and researched article offered insights on how a frustrated Lin even refused to hear concerns and complaints from his loved ones about Byron Scott treatment of DNP and 3rd-string guard marginalization) and Kobe’s unleashed fury during practice. He didn’t want to carry that negativity to work. And that’s the right step. He chose to spend his sleepless Linsomnia hours to mull over ways to positively turn the situation.

We should learn an important lesson as Lin fans with this insight. Jeremy needs more positivity and support in his twitter feed or daily interaction since he doesn’t need more negativity to his work. If we want him to do well, it’s only fair to give him more positivity than complaints/criticism (however valid they might be)

At least he has mustered some success post-All Star Game Break (ASB) with a string of Linsanity, uhm .. (Lin shunned the word Linsanity due to connotation of a flash of great moment in NY) let’s just call it “JLin Prime” (as Joyce @awarde:disqus suggested) for now. Let’s vote for the new Lin nickname below!

All this great publicity (“Making Plays” #taketoday Adidas tweet, Linsanity DVD Giveaway, JLin Back as Starter, etc.) combined with Jeremy’s strong plays (#16 ranked PER after ASB) will greatly help increase Jeremy Lin’s values in the upcoming Free Agency. Let’s hope for bigger and better“JLin Prime” games in the last 12 games!

New JLin’s NickName Poll to Replace Linsanity

    In Progress

he is focused and this can be seen on his recent prayer requests as well…

“-Prayer for the right mindset to finish the season strong. Sometimes, it
feels like there’s less to play for because we’re not in playoff
contention, but God calls me to play every game and live everyday to
bring Him the glory He deserves. In other words, my mindset and my work
ethic shouldn’t waver because I’m playing for God, not for the playoffs.”

  • Maknusia

    JLin Supreme….i still love Linsanity!

  • Maknusia

    And its on ESPN…wide readerships!

  • Dan Cohen

    was this recent?

  • Alaingrvis

what an amazing article also props to espn for giving it the front page

  • 1mtoldman

this #16 rank per after asg is quoted frequently here by many; do you have a link to that?

or if (as i assume) this is from hollister espn formula; is that something only available thru subscripbers to espn “prime”.

  • Alaingrvis

Interesting question if it’s recents it really shows how much dantoni respect lins game

  • Acbc

Unfortunately, Linsanity is used now by the media as a negative definition of something great. They keep bringing it up as a fluke and use it to define his career as a once and done fluke. Even some Lin fans have started to drink the coolaide and accept this rhetoric.

On the flip side is the pressure he feels from us Lin fans to have him put up the same numbers to regain Linsanity. The pressure from us is equally difficult to handle. He wants so desperately himself to recreate that Magic, but he can’t do while his hands are tied the way it’s been in Houston and LA.

Is it any wonder Lin wants to distance himself from that name?

  • Dan Cohen

    exactly.
If it’s 2012.. that’s the past and lin was the biggest thing on the planet.
if it’s now.. wow and he will treat lin like a star player.

  • Alaingrvis

    Jlinprime or Linprime ?

  • Alaingrvis

When I was reading it I took it like it was during linsinity because how in love with Lin lol he sounded

  • Acbc

Sometimes we need to above it all and bite our tongues. It’s a lot like being a parent sometimes watching a child working so hard in a difficult situation. There’s times when the best thing you can do for them is to shut up and give them a long hug and just a few words of encouragement. We bring them up right and have given them everything they need to face the world. The toughest thing to do is to let go and trust them to do what’s right.

  • joyce ward

I think it was both. Scott was the biggest ctricizer of MDA when he coached the Lakers. I think MDA had to be curious on how scott would run the team Also he spoke to lin when he first came to the Lakers, so I am going to asume that MDA watch a few games with playing.

  • joyce ward

He and lin are in contact. Did you read the piece when MDA said lin is just that good. This was recently at the MIT Sloan Conference.

  • Maknusia

yeah just finished reading…it was awesome…need to read again! 🙂

  • Acbc

    OptiLIn Prime, the game transformer.

  • emz

    Super Lintendo

  • Maknusia

    waiting patiently….

  • Maknusia

yeah and the writer is really pissed off with BScott

  • Acbc

MDA is making a positive remark because he is pointing at how NASH became such a force with his great 40% 3 shooting. I think Lin is still 2 years away from that yet. But when he peaks at age 29, lin will be unstoppable like NASH. A defence that tries to clog the middle will get clobbered by his perimeter shooting.

I have complete faith that Lin will get there.

  • Maknusia

exactly…history had shown PG can peak at later stage….

  • Maknusia

totally agree with you here…Lin is Linsanity…but the media and some fans how criticize without understand tghe predicament he is put into

  • Alaingrvis

    Always my favorite

  • Alaingrvis

Thx wish MDa had stayed in ny all would be different

  • Brent Yen

So I feel we need to start to ditch it…

  • Dan Ang

    Discip-Lin..like God’s Disciple and Lin…no?

  • joyce ward

I wander what kind of ripple effect this article is going to have on the F/O….and the plot thickens…

  • Maknusia

Lin just need to find a team to show that he is beyond Linsanity

  • Maknusia

    shhhh…and the plot thickens! 🙂

  • joyce ward

Nathan said on twitter that it made the frontpage in NY.

    http://www.jlinportal.com/linsightful-lessons-from-isolation-play-espn-article-by-pablo-torre/

Every member can vote up to 2 choices. Should I open it up for non-members?

So far we have 5 candidates but we can add more

What Should Be the new NickName to replace Linsanity?
    1. JLin Prime
    2. Super LINtendo
    3. SmiLIN Assasin
    4. LINtastic
    5. LIN Dynasty

  • yes, it’s good that he can free himself from potentially-crushing pressure by simply focusing to giving his best effort to God w/o worrying much. That’s how Linsanity in NY started and it’s a good blueprint to follow

  • yes, great insight on how MDA & Lin are still in close and frequent communication :] I have more hope for the summer FA hehe

  • Good to know. Lin can trust his close friends then

  • Rookie75094

    Super Lintendo

  • PPP

    LinCredible

I’m beginning to wonder if a draft of this article didn’t make it’s way off the ESPN servers two or three weeks ago and delivered into the hands of someone in the Lakers FO. I’ve been amazed at the very sudden local turnaround in the narrative about Jeremy. Suddenly he’s starting a few games before Scott said he’d start him. The local broadcast crew suddenly have chucked all the “thinks too much” or “inconsistent” narrative that have been spoonfed to them.

I thought maybe the change in narrative in the national observations (praise by opposing coaches, etc) might have influenced the Lakers. But somehow, it seemed like something more was at work.

Also, the travesty of the Lakers benching of Jeremy in the Minnesota game has finally laid bare the deceit in treating Jeremy fairly. “Going with the hot hand” certainly didn’t apply. Jeremy got benched because he had the hot hand — and the sports media is noticing what we’ve known for a while … that Jeremy’s treatment has nothing to do with how well he’s performing.

Because of the naked chicanery of the Minnesota game, I think everyone is going to be watching more closely tonight to see how Scott engineers another deliberate loss in his tanking strategy.

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

Super busy tying up the loose ends at work before the weekend but will try to get to the stories before the weekend is up. Been dying to tell there stories.

  • bolero

Heat shut down a lot of PG too. CP3, John Wall, etc. but you never heard about it. But when it comes to Lin they make a big deal about it..

  • Sophie Paris

    Prendre une douche?

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

    Part 2 up.

  • Kianainhi

It’s too late by the Lakers org to make amends. Lin is too smart to be taken in like that. The only reason for me wanting Lin to stay is if BS is fired.

  • K. P. Chan

Right! But then there’s still Kobe. Kobe’s distain for Lin cannot be disguised. In fact, he doesn’t even bother to disguise it or to pretend to be civilized.
