G67 UTA @LAL Game Thread

How would Jeremy respond after a good GSW game ended abruptly when Byron Scott benched him after 2 TOs in the 4th quarter even if Jeremy has sparked the comeback to have any chance of winning against the GSW?

Jeremy must have had a boost of confidence from nailing the game winner during game scrimmages. What will he do to limit his TOs and have effective playmaking as he set out to do after the All-Star Break? Without much PnR plays, it will be harder since he won’t have the ball as much in his hands.

Will the Linsanity DVD Giveaway have any impact on Jeremy tonight? Will it be a distraction or will he stay focused?

Go Jeremy!

Guess JLin's stats in Game 68 vs PHI
  • Brent Yen

    hehehe

  • reclaiming the throne, I see 🙂

  • anddan

    #3…

  • Jabari Brown will probably get a 2nd 10-day contract, thanks to Jeremy’s help.
Jeremy’s been on his shoes of contract limbo so kudos for Jeremy for helping out on court!

    https://twitter.com/MarkG_Medina/status/578651809310502912

  • takemeback2reaganyears

The Busses should have contracted with BS that way, 10-day at a time.

  • Brent Yen

Sounds good, so the maximum number of 10 day contracts on a person is 2. I hope BS only stay for 20 days.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

They still can redeem if they fire his ^zz the end of the season.

  • Arsenium12 .

Lin tops in blocks for point guards; via Linspiredinla …

  • I am The Jason

16 more games left until the release party

  • joyce ward

I think the reason that media hates on lin so much is that henis considered an international ICON , and has international fan base that is smart and on our toes when it comes to lin. The media doesn’t like that when writes something negative about his ball skills, we hit them back with numbers and stats which exposes them. LOL

  • Brent Yen

They get defensive so quickly and they think we are the sensitive ones…

  • Awesome! @JLin7 #1 in BLKP48M
And before anyone says #DeceptiveBlocker,he was ranked #5 & #7 in past 2 seasons =)

    https://twitter.com/JLinPortal/status/578664524695351296

  • joyce ward

No we are just a well informed fan base.

  • Brent Yen

    Yes ma’am! We are!

  • Brent Yen

Why are ppl so into NCAA games? It seems slow and overly coached to me. Not that it is not exciting. But I guess NBA is just more attractive to me.

  • joyce ward

Lin/Davis has actually lead this teams defensive efforts. Lin has taught Boozer how to pick and roll, because Boozer was pick and pop guy. Also notice how scott seems to have latched on to Jabari Brown? He stuck him with lin to mentor him .

  • Brent Yen

Boozer is generally ok I guess, except one thing. I really do not know how can a guy his size lose the ball that many times….It just does not make sense at all.

  • Yes, in a way Lin fans are being treated like newbies who don’t belong as NBA fans much like Lin was treated as an anomaly in the NBA who will go away soon.

People just don’t like to be wrong, especially when being corrected with stats since they look foolish.

I try to be polite whenever I can to help “open” their blind eyes so they can see the truth LOL

  • joyce ward

Many of the players won”t survive in the NBA. Your thoughts on why they are giving a way Linsanity DVD to all the fans tonight?

  • I am The Jason

March Madness is all about upsets and which team will become the cinderella of NCAA

  • Brent Yen

TO me I think they are trying to fix the relation between Lin and Lakers (Note, not the relation with BS). I guess they just want better ticket sell…I am not sure how was the sell b4 ASB tho…

  • joyce ward

I think scott throwing brown in the middle of thrir rotation messed up the benches chemistry. Lin had to baby sit brown last game

  • real-dsb

Different style, different taste that some people like. Some people prefer college basketball over NBA for the same reasons. Less about individual superstars and more about team.

  • Brent Yen

He was not particularly effective on defense either, another dead weight Lin has to carry. But he is a rook, and I think Lin is more than happy to mentor him anyway.

  • Brent Yen

I guess, that is one good way to say it. I even seen the argument saying NCAA champion can beat teams like 76ers. I was like, WT……….

  • jakey

Did you know that NCAA makes billions of dollars? Crazy! And they don’t pay the players because they are amateurs lol. Check out John Oliver’s YouTube clip on NCAA

  • joyce ward

Me roo. Also,i think there is power struggle going between the Busses and kobe loyalists on the inside. I have been to a few games and lin was becoming a fan favorite

  • Brent Yen

I know and I think that is ridiculous. Unless they put a vast portion of that income back to college education which I do not think they did?

  • jakey

    Probably a small portion haha

  • Brent Yen

It is really hard not to like Lin or his style of play. Especially in Lakers because Lakers is losing big with or without Lin this season. At least Lin provides good basketball to watch. Who would want to watch a guy bricking 18 footers (ok maybe made one every few games) while you could watch Lin-Davis alley-oop all day?

  • yes, it’s about rooting for your alma-mater & wasting a few fun hours at work to win office brackets :]
Plus winning the bragging rights against co-workers

  • Kobe? BS? LOL

  • Brent Yen

Ok that part definitely is fun, more fun than actually watching it. LOL

  • Brent Yen

I try not to name names…LOL

  • any insight from LAL season ticker holders?
Do they just accept it’ll be another year with Kobe?
    Do they want Lin back?

  • GoodDayLA

I hope MDA selling his LA house means he is preparing for a new coaching job elsewhere.

  • Brent Yen

Maybe he just got a bigger one?

  • Yes, even Lin got excited when Harvard won.
    Remember this? hehe

    http://images.christianpost.com/blog/full/17604/jeremy-lin-stoked.jpg

  • joyce ward

Sorry, no insight, but my guess would be that they like lin and want him back

  • GoodDayLA

Most of the season ticket holders I know personally all want Kobe back, love Kobe, and hopes HGH helps Kobe regain form. They are not fans of Lin and think Lin is a backup scrub overhyped. And most of the season ticket people I know are of Asian background.

  • Brent Yen

    LOL very true…

  • or a smaller one since he hasn’t received an offer yet

  • GoodDayLA

his real estate agent said he is moving back to west virginia or something. I dont buy it.

  • Brent Yen

Man, I guess that’s why Lakers are great!, Faustus to its best.

  • GoodDayLA

Many of my colleagues laugh at me for saying Lin is a good PG, all star potential type player.
THe season ticket people tell me they go to the games and all they see is a guy who isn’t very good.

THey told me if Lin were that good, Lin would have succeeded this season ,no matter what.
No matter the handcuff, no matter, Kobe, no matter Scott, no matter bad offense, that a truly talented player finds a way no matter what.

THat was my last conversation with a big time Laker fan and colleague.

  • joyce ward

Lin/MDA both might end up in Orlando because GM stated they wanted a coach wwith big name and lots of experience. Wouldn’t it be a hoot at the end of the season they fire scott and bring in Mark Jackson. LOL

  • Brent Yen

Great, they can keep tell themselves that and keep buy season tkts. lol

  • GoodDayLA

not a Mark Jackson fan either….but if Lin is gone, I dont care. I think the Lakers are aiming for Russel Westbrook AND Durant AND a 3rd prime time guy in 2016. So next year is another throw away

  • Brent Yen

I do not like Mark Jackson tho. However, he is infinitely better than BS.

  • GoodDayLA

you cannot argue with them. It’s infuriating. Basically they dont want a guy who has to have an offense catered to him to succeed. They feel if he cannot find a way to be useful next to Kobe or inside the bad offense of BS, they feel Lin is just not good enough. I just quit defending Lin against these types and gave up. There is nothing I can say or do to change how these people think.

  • GoodDayLA

If Lin does not go to ORL, PHI, MIL, UTAH, or SAC, I wonder what he is going to do.

  • Brent Yen

You do not have to, they spent more money for nothing, the better for our economy.

  • GoodDayLA

Next season in LA with the Lakers will be another trainwreck. I do like laughing at these crazy laker fans and media who talk crazy about their chances next season. Maybe if Kobe gets hurt again, the young guys will rally together with their new special FA’s and make the 8th seed while Lin excels on another team. Kobe is just too crappy to help a team make the playoffs anymore unless his teammates are Durant and Lebron.

  • real-dsb

best blocking PG in the league. even higher rate than known athletic guys like Bledsoe and Wall. You need to be extremely athletic to block as a PG.

  • Briiick

Yeah, they are mostly those who missed or refused watching Linsanity games then.

  • 1mtoldman

hadn’t really noticed b4 it was utah lakers playing tonite so will repost (most of) previous note on utah:

utah has been the best defensive team in the nba and 9-2 (with only a particularly hot nite from john wall keeping them from being 10-1) since asg.

have a great front court now with rudy gobert “the stifle tower” the hottest player in the league post asg (passing by the flash whiteside); hayward tho taking a lot abuse from people who dont know better a legitimate top 40 player and derrick favors the least known equally top 40 or 50 player in the nba.

but no backcourt players of any consequence at all. burk and burks either injured or dont start and ingles failed as a starter experiment; exum the worst significant minutes backcourt player in the league statistically most of the time and i dont even know the name of the other guy thats starting now; rodney someone (not stuckey).

could use a good guard on a defensive team. that is still one of the hottest teams in the league going out the season.

tho not sure utah as a destination destination would be to lin’s liking.

and the defensive superstar pg rajon rondo is no where to be found on the list… haha

  • Rookie75094

dallas sport radio still mocking rondo even after their win over the magic…. said rondo almost had a triple double with the 8 TOVS….haha

  • John Lee

Or the Lakers know that Lin is not coming back, and started dumping their merchandise? 🙂

  • Jedi

To be a blocker, it’s not bad to be deceptive no? Nobody will expect you to do anything, and then you SMACK that round thing out of there!

  • Sophie Paris

    Should be a good game

  • real-dsb

From GSW game, Lin with excellent off the ball movement. Like Rip Hamilton!

    https://twitter.com/jlinposts/status/578694963812278272

  • 1mtoldman

    this one sounds sensible.

  • 1mtoldman

super tankathon game coming up; knicks/minny.

first game ive ever seen registering 100% on the tankometer

  • 1mtoldman

if the lakers could lose to the knicks im confident they can lose out the rest of the sked; the only bumps being the 2 games against the seasoned tankers the 6ers who mastered the art.

  • Sophie Paris

Lin with the Magic I’d like that

  • Rookie75094

Jlin the Magic man…with the magic hands….

  • real-dsb

at least Mark Jackson didn’t throw all of his players under the bus while he was their coach

  • real-dsb

I hope Lin’s wrists are feeling better (note: he is not doing Gangnam Style! lol)
    https://twitter.com/jlinposts/status/578705622901923841

  • Filler-up

Coacing is important in NCAA since players are so young. Most teams have holes in their line up except for Kentucky, so good coaching hides those.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • it does look like he’s doing a little Gangnam :]

  • Nice 2-for-1, Jeremy! LOL

  • yes, yes, yes to LinsanityMagic

  • I’m just doing pre-emptive diss to those who said JLin was “deceptively quick”. There’s no denying of athleticism to be leading BLKP48M stats :>

Those people should be ashamed for saying JLin is not athletic, hehe..

But yeah, centers and guards had no ideas where J came out of nowhere to swat their shots LOL

  • wow …I guess they’re all fans of diva-ball.
They’ll be sorely disappointed next season =]
I got 1 relative just like that, probably from years of watching hero-ball

  • Gotta LOL at this
    Talk about combining #MarchMadness & #MarchSadness =)

  • 1mtoldman

the team of good day la and the mods slam dunking the team of everybody else 52-16 on this page. (# of posts = # of points).

  • golfhacker

I hope Orlando for selfish reasons 🙂 Living on the east coast, these 10:30pm start times are killing me!

  • lol .. are you the ref or the score-keeper?
    It’s #MarchMadness after all

  • John Lee

Mods, just wondering…why and what triggers the SPAM label here?

  • John Lee

Never knew Jeremy to be the sneaky kind! LOL

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Utah rebuild their team from draft choices.

  • This was a kid who planted something sharp under sofa pillow to prank his baby-sitter only to have it backfired on him :]

I wonder if he’s been waiting for #MarchMadness to tweet it LOL

  • as far as I know, repeated posts with same content would qualify as spam automatically detected by Disqus
there might be other ways to produce SPAM

  • John Lee

Florida and Texas teams are better for Jeremy’s bank account: no State taxes!

  • real-dsb

mysterious disqus algorithm that is unknown and cannot be controlled =(

  • John Lee

My guess would be the use of the word “advert*sing”. I don’t double/repeat post.

  • Jimmy Buckets

back spasm my azz lakers lol
Lin is healthy they trying to dnp him again
but hey Lin’s health is the top priority now
so win win for lin anyways

  • Jimmy Buckets

or some hater reported you or flagged u

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Miami would sign Goran Dragic and Dwyane Wade.
    Dallas would probably want Rondo.
Don’t want Lin to go back to Houston unless Morey is fired.
That leaves SAN ANTONIO. Not likely, they’re packed with PGs; Tony Parker and Cory Joseph would be signed.
Well Lin has to sign a team outside Florida and Texas.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The minutes are divided between 4 guards now that Lin will often be the one playing the least minutes.

  • ah, that might be it

  • real-dsb

earlier in the year, I saw some posts that got caught in disqus automoderation for having “ronnie *price*”. LOL

  • John Lee

Talking about aggressive yet dumb filters! Tons of inappropriate stuff at the old turf that Disqus does NOTHING about, while censoring harmless posts on commonly used words, such as contraction of “he will”.

  • real-dsb

Maybe I just have selective memory, but I feel like opponents shoot < 10% when they post up Jeremy. (Anybody have access to Lin's stats defending against postup?)

    Harvard ahead of Tar Heels
    65:63
    What a comeback.
    1:15 to go!!!!!
    Game tied 48s left
    possession Harvard.

  • sport

Pheww Harvard score got close again, checked the score really quick on tv while working and they were down 10-12 points. Just got back home and glad it’s a close game, hope they win!!

  • real-dsb

doh. well, if Lin’s back’s not 100%, I say sit out. Not worth risking further injury for no reason.

  • Filler-up

    He only missed one.

  • Filler-up

    I want Lin to play.

  • Filler-up

    Take the threes tonight JLin.

  • sport

Come on Harvard was only down 2 points why take a 3?!

  • Maknusia

could be many things 🙂 Miller “clown” is name calling and derogatory as well 🙂

  • real-dsb

aw man, I didn’t even realize the game was close. I saw 36-52 and thought the rout was on

  • real-dsb

real reason Lin has “back spasms”… he wanted to watch the Harvard game and skip the warmups

  • Maknusia

    hahaha

  • sport

Yea North Corlina had like a 15 point lead but Harvard crawled back, then towards the end took some bad shots especially that finally one. Their main guy took the last shot, a 3 even though they were only down 2 points. Should’ve just brought to the basket. =/

  • real-dsb

if Lin ends up playing tonight and looks perfectly fine, then we’ll know 100% the reason 😉

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Perhaps it’s because he’s trying to dunk over Ellington too hard and Ellington fouled him.

  • Samuel

so I guess Ellington must had “back spasms” as well? lol

  • Maknusia

They do record defending rims but dont think post-up specific…

  • Maknusia

lol, those kinda back spasm are not going to heal, until he retires…those are the downside being professional player

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Ellington is counting the loot from Jeremy.

  • ra

he looks good to me.. got to play tonight JLin, long time before sunday.

  • ra

    no back spasm there.

  • Maknusia

Lin had been playing with it, for couple of years now

  • Arsenium12 .
  • sport

Yea, he hasn’t taken a bunch of 3s in a while, should really use all the skill sin his arsenal not just mid jumpers and layups.

  • sport

It’s refreshing to see other star players getting criticized for their TOs not just Lin.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

He must be heartbroken that Harvard barely lost by 2 points.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Which is the worst team in NBA?
    Minn or NY.
It will be decided in 10s.
Minn ahead by 1, possession NY.

2 s left. Minn ahead by 3. possession NY

I thought Kobe got one this season.

  • 1mtoldman

thats incredible stat of the night.

3 teams playing in houston 2nite.

the rockets team shot 15 free throws
the nuggets team shot 19 free throws

the beard 1 man team shot 25 free throws.

  • John Lee

Good luck with that in the playoffs, it’s been proven time and time again that it doesn’t work in the post-season.

  • Chipdip

any safe link to watch the game online? thanks

  • Brent Yen

Lin is not on the bench.?

  • CJSHYY

Probably in the lockers room for treatment?

  • Maknusia
  • Brent Yen

    I guess so

  • Chipdip

thank you … saw them now.

  • Briiick

    Lin made 5 out 6 3-pt attempts, that is 83% 3pt shooting !

  • chan c

    Underrated indeed!

  • Grace Nsns

    @lakers in spanish>>English:

Jeremy Lin will play tonight but still not accompany the team on the bench . Keep doing precompetitive exercises.

  • Brent Yen

    Thanks!

  • Brent Yen

I guess I will just go get a McFlurry 1st

  • Maknusia

    2nd

  • Sophie Paris

    I wanna make a joke… it’s perfect for:

    “He’s in my bed” xD

  • chan c

Is our boy playing today? I read he has his wrist injured…

  • Sophie Paris

    He should play yes

  • wandertheglobe

On bench now, next to Kobe, I think

  • CJSHYY

Ya! He is on the bench now.

  • 1mtoldman

u here to watch lin, gobert, or haywards’ excessively jelled hair?

  • 1mtoldman

back spasms offcially but on bench now.

  • Maknusia

    hahaha…

  • Alaingrvis

No player is 10 percent right now. Nba plays way to much games for the human body to handle

  • 1mtoldman

    swaggy

  • chan c

    Ha ha… ‘such wit…

  • Maknusia

thats the reason they are paid in millions

  • leeda harun

    just hope everything is okay

  • 1mtoldman

there is speculation it was an excuse to watch the end of the harvard game.

  • 1mtoldman

and the reason the ave. career is only 7 years.

  • wandertheglobe

He just checked in for Ellington.

  • orLinaryjoe

    Uh ok… Tnks.

Go Lin and stay safe and healthy!

  • Sophie Paris

  • Sophie Paris

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Linning. 1 steal 1 block in first minute.

  • Sophie Paris

    Jlin!!! Watch bro ^^

  • blubell

LAL announcer praising Jeremy… hmmm… what is going on here? lol

  • JC

I actually want him to rest, the laker games are not worth risking his health for

  • Sophie Paris

    That Zelda music xD

  • Alaingrvis

    Lin looks a bit stiff.

  • BobbyH

yes, not used to it. Kind of 180 degree turn.

  • sport

Who was it that was giving JLin excuse for his TO cause of his back injury?

  • Maknusia

    2STL, 1BLK, 1AST in 2 min!!!!

  • BobbyH

    Our Stu?

  • They got FREE Linsanity DVDs :]
I’m telling you these people love freebies LOL

  • FrankW

Sounds like Stu is over doing it. Oh well, all good.

  • Maknusia

nice…he is aggressive early in the game…Go Lin

  • HeroBallJLIN

Totally looks stiff, slower. Lin needs to warm up big time. Should get loose by 4th qtr. I think after the game he will definitely feel it.

  • sport

Sounded like Hater Stu but I couldn’t believe what I was hearing O.o

  • stam

    that is pretty damn good!

  • stam

I know i hope he doesn’t hurt himself!

  • sws94

Yeah, but he has good energy. He’ll play through it on adrenaline.

  • blubell
  • sport

Wow 1 Block already? Lin trying to keep that no.1 spot for shot blocking PG! I hope John Wall falls off of no.1 soon!

  • HeroBallJLIN

His bad back and messed up wrist could explain why he was a little off on his last couple of games.

  • Sophie Paris

    So far so good

  • Maknusia

    hahaha…there you go!

  • blubell

    Beautiful move!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin made impact on every stats except rebound

  • stam

why didn’t lin pass to the open guy behind him?

  • BobbyH

My god. The Lakers announcer said Lin’s shot was BEAUTIFUL.

  • It’s the FREE Linsanity DVD talking LOL

  • BobbyH

I am not sure about it. See if it carries into next game.

  • blubell
  • chan c

    It’s not a dream , yeah?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin has developed some beautiful one one one move in Lakers this season.

  • Sophie Paris

    Yellow dragon shoes’ effect

  • Maknusia

    Oh! comeon Kelly!

  • Alaingrvis

    Still a bit stiff

  • sws94

Yes, now he has to clean them up a bit and refine them. But yes, he’s really worked on some good ones.

  • Maknusia

Lin is indeed aggressive…he has 4 shot attempts in 5 minutes!

  • orLinaryjoe

    Easy girl, lol

  • sport

Stu praising Lin? Must be the free Linsanity DVDs, gotta go with FO promotion.

  • stam

I do feel like he can pass to jabari more.

  • HeroBallJLIN

yes, hope he continues to attempt shots. last shot he only had 3 seconds to shoot.

  • golfhacker

Lin hesitating on his shot. Just play Jeremy.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin will be the best PG in BLKP48M after this game.

  • Brent Yen

I guess McFlurry does work…I will eat it slow

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Rudy Gobert has very long arms.

  • wandertheglobe

2 of those were at the end of shot clock.

  • orLinaryjoe

Lin in 5 mins, 2 pts, 2 asts, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 tov, not bad.

  • chan c

    keep shooting , Jeremy!

  • sport

Yea it can tell it’s really affecting the way he take his shots and jumpers.

  • wandertheglobe

some reasons Lin is getting lots of compliments from them tonight. Must be FO’s directive…LOL

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Utah are making 3s.

  • Maknusia

    lol….

  • with a bad back! =)

  • Maknusia

Need to check on Burke…allowing too many 3s!

  • Maknusia

    6 sec…i think

  • orLinaryjoe

    3 steals!

  • stam

did that last one count as an assist for lin?

  • sport

    nope.

  • blubell
  • Maknusia

    yeah…LAL need to contain that

  • orLinaryjoe

    Does not show, nope.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Davis missed both FTs. He’s not a bad shooter.
Lakers are not playing defense. Whose fault is it?

  • golfhacker

Looked like it was a pass intended for Davis who fumbled the pass.

  • Brent Yen

    BS of course

  • Alaingrvis

They are actually playing well trey Burke isn’t that good. He is just making his shots.

  • blubell
  • stam

Trey has really good screen setters.

  • Maknusia

    ok…i’m following your suit

  • HeroBallJLIN

Lin keeps overhelping on defense, leaving his man, and they end up shooting a 3. Saw 3 of 3 pointers over Lin.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Utah are hitting everything. Lakers has no defense.

  • HeroBallJLIN

    make that 4

  • stam

I agree 100 percent. He needs to stop it. cause he could have stopped maybe 1/3 of them.

  • orLinaryjoe

    UTA 50%, LA 39%

  • Maknusia

    9pt lead for Jazz

  • stam

    much better defense that time.

  • JoeTeam

    Except Lin

  • sport

Lakers are shooting really poorly, even the bigs like Tarik Black are missing. ><"

  • HeroBallJLIN

actually most of those 3s (4 of them) were over Lin because he left his man to over help on D

  • Brent Yen

It was ok….BS asked him to help, he helps..

  • Alaingrvis

If Lin don’t shoot we’ll today he gets a pass

  • JoeTeam

I saw that but also 3 steals. If you are the only one hustling, you are going to look out of position.

  • orLinaryjoe

bad wrist, bad back, bad coach…

  • Alaingrvis

    Triple jeopardy

  • HeroBallJLIN

Yeah he should help but move to far from his man, then loses him.

  • wandertheglobe

Hmm…Lin is playing the most minutes with a bad back and wrist

  • orLinaryjoe

    awww kelly, booo.

  • Alaingrvis

    He is playing great defense

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Tarik Black really made Rudy Gobert look bad with his quickness.

  • HeroBallJLIN

Yeah Lin is playing good D, just needs to stick to his man a little closer when helping on D

  • JoeTeam

    and lotsa pnrs today.

  • Brent Yen

Given this LAL defense, something has to give. That is what happening here..I think

  • Alaingrvis

Given lins back. I am a bit worried how he will look the second haif

  • orLinaryjoe

    Dust off that bike

  • LAJane

    The sky is falling…..

  • JoeTeam

yep, he’d better keep the ice, no heating pad on at halftime. Brent you know ha ha.

  • orLinaryjoe

Ha, Hill going for three’s! At least he understands the it’s better than long 2!

  • Brent Yen

See…It was not just about help defense, guards were asked to block out the big man too.

  • HeroBallJLIN

I think he will loosen up. Just think after the game his back could b worse. I think Lin should have sat this one out.

  • sport

Lin should really be riding that bike.

  • JoeTeam

bummer on his back, v inefficient game so far. Hope 2nd half he gets some FGMs. So many messed up assists as usual.

  • MoominFloren

What’s going on? Bad back Lin with the most minutes, announcers praising Lin, lots of PNR???

  • Brent Yen

Given he could not even align himself to the basket for that pivot move. I would not expect much

  • Maknusia

    LAL…missing all their 3s

  • JoeTeam

hmm, right. Is that the play where Stu said Jeremy was expecting a foul and didn’t get it. or some other?

  • orLinaryjoe

New math and common core is confusing, but we all know 3>2

  • Brent Yen

The one he pivot in the paint. The one during FB was not a FGA

  • HeroBallJLIN

Its Lin night in Staples center. They gave away those Linsanity DVDs. I get the feeling Lakers are trying to butter up JLin. Maybe trying to get him to resign.

  • wandertheglobe

It’s weird that announcers haven’t criticized Lin even when he made mistakes, especially, Stool.

  • Brent Yen

JAZZ is stupid to run the same set Lakers are running. LAL defenders are familiar of it.

  • CJSHYY

Why JC is not shooting a lot tonight? Maybe in 2nd half then?

  • JoeTeam

ok, I see you point but don’t remember the play. I feel bad for his bad back, cringing every time he has to hit through a screen.

  • golfhacker

Good coaches call time outs. BS never uncrosses his arms.

  • Brent Yen

Maybe the no call last game triggered it?

  • stam

jordan hill is a point guard dribbling it up the court lol

  • Brent Yen

    Because he was blocked?

  • wandertheglobe

Lin is sitting on a booster seat to help with his bad back.

  • MoominFloren

    hmm fishy

  • stam

Maybe Lin should take of since he’s hurting, this team is not worth getting injured for.

  • JoeTeam

you mean when Lin hit booz when curry pulled? so many no calls.

  • Brent Yen

    Yes that one

  • cshot

how is lin doing? is his back injury serious??????

  • JoeTeam

yep, that was a hard hit. head snapped back …

  • JoeTeam

missed a few shots, playing good D with 3 steals, lol ppl are cutting away from him because of the steals.

  • cshot

2 pts and 2 asst tho?

  • blubell
  • wandertheglobe

Studio guys are making a point to praise Lin too…something is up.

  • stam

I hope he’s ok. Lin’s one on one defense is so good that the only way to get a shot off is if they have at least one screen. The jazz has really good screen setters.

  • blubell
  • JoeTeam

that’s what I mean by inefficient game box wise. The 2 A is not really indicative as usual. Lots of missed As with cleanups that were hockey assists, and of course missed As. Then Stu said Lin can’t really drive to the basket with bad back to take contact, and then Brent says below he noticed Lin could not twist to face the basket on a shot. Bad back, doing the best he can.

  • blubell
  • FrankW

He got a free Linsanity DVD.

  • JoeTeam

wow, promoting Lin what for? Interesting plot!

  • blubell
  • LAJane

yes, why? why? why? My brain can’t find a docking station for this.

  • LAJane

Maybe he can’t by now. Stuck.

  • leeda harun

    desperate move…cos of empty seats..lol

  • IsabeliJane*17

Wow that’s blatant promotion for reasons that make my head scratch…

  • MoominFloren

Thanks. Are they really playing a lot of PNR? Someone should ask BS why he allows it after openly criticized Lin

  • JoeTeam

I’d rather have a bobble head.

  • TTNN

was Lin on bench? I don’t see him

  • Brent Yen

He is standing at the end. Trainer is tying some heat pad on his back

  • Filler-up

I want to watch him play like all fans should wish for. Don’t understand thes posters that want him to sit.

  • LAJane

Hope he sits out the rest. Absolutely no need to aggravate injury for the tank.

  • wandertheglobe

Promoting Lin, playing long minutes, PNRs, praises from announcers and studio. Plot thickens.

  • CJSHYY

Bc Lakers wants to resign him. That’s it. LOL!

  • TTNN

that’s the beginning of the 2nd half, but then he disappeared

  • golfhacker

Jeremy better not fall for it. He better go to another team. Except NY or Houston.

  • LAJane

It’s so thick now it’s like it’s stuck.

  • Brent Yen

I think he is stretching somewhere.

  • MoominFloren

    Yep Not worth it

  • LAJane

If they think he’ll fall for such ridiculous “too little, too late” games, they’ve forgotten he’s got Harvard smarts.

  • LAJane

Hopefully in a cab on the way to rest up at home.

  • Brent Yen

    LIN is back

  • leeda harun

    haha….funny

  • JoeTeam

    lin coming in.

  • golfhacker

Jazz announcers saying the Lakers want to run, their game is pushing the ball up and down the floor. Even they know the Lakers personnel better than BS!

  • TTNN

so he could not sit…. only come out when it is getting close for his time.

  • Brent Yen

I think he can sit, he just wanna keep wam

  • leeda harun

    please get him a bike

  • TTNN

you can tell by the way he stand there…..

  • blubell
  • Brent Yen

I am really curious why he did not…Maybe not place to put it?

  • TTNN

he might ride a bike in side the tunnel

  • LAJane

“Cause we want him 100% healthy for the next team that’s looking his way. He’s given over and above for this disrespectful tanking organization. We’re all thrilled to see him play…just not thrilled for him to risk going down injured for nothing.

  • Lakers fans should appreciate Lin’s work ethic.
Let’s hope Lin stays safe and rest his back for next game

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Ms. Ward has claimed copy right for plot thickens.

  • wandertheglobe

    Stool’s spotlight on LIN. Hmmm…

  • orLinaryjoe

In bizarre world of Lin praises from Stu. Somethings up.

  • Maknusia

    Lin is IN

  • blubell

So close… nice quick move to the basket tho..

  • Grace Nsns

    Lin another miss, 🙁

  • Filler-up

    Lin looks stiff out there.

  • Brent Yen

He could not extend his arm up…lol oh my

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    That’s a chicken bone

  • cshot

something is seriously wrong when stu starts praising lin

  • blubell
  • Maknusia

maybe they are appreciative…even with bad back…he is still being aggressive

  • LAJane

We are all so alarmed and creeped out by such wildly unlikely praise from the usual trolls. What weird crack has opened in the Universe….:-)

  • LAJane

Oh dear dragon boy…please sit. Mother is getting anxious.

  • IsabeliJane*17

Boozer and Davis have THAT chemistry. I blame Jeremy on that one, back injury or none. 🙂 He bridged these two on several plays already, many times.

  • Arsenium12 .

    Steal by Lin …

  • blubell

Was that a no look pass to Wes?

  • e b

Lin’s getting double teamed, and no one’s helping him.

  • wandertheglobe

    Bad pass by Lin

  • Maknusia

    Nice block…Davis

  • Maknusia

    shot clock awareness!!!…sigh

  • golfhacker

I doubt he will play anymore tonight.

  • Brent Yen

LOL a big talking point again today…I am not sure he knows it or not. I think he does.

  • Brent Yen

Few tovs…sit earlier seems is actually better. But I still want to see more action…..

  • sws94

    I think he will.

  • orLinaryjoe

Not looking good. Should not play when hurt. Hurts more.

  • Filler-up

    Take Lin out.

  • blubell
  • wandertheglobe

    My bad.

  • golfhacker

    Ur right!

  • orLinaryjoe

    Ho dat!

  • Brent Yen

Man…no wonder Lin did not took that shot…He could not shot….

  • orLinaryjoe

Only he knows. If hurt, he should take himself out. Not worth health, rep, or stats.

  • wandertheglobe

I’m telling you it’s weird. One announcer: “Lin is 1-7 tonight”, Stu defending Lin, “I think it’s attributed to the bad back problem”

  • HeroBallJLIN

Stu is making excuses for Lin like he’s Kobe. weird

  • e b

I’m thinking he watched the Linsanity doc, since they were giving it away today lol

  • wandertheglobe

    LOL

  • Keith

Surprised Lin is still in the game. Is today Lin’s birthday?

  • Grace Nsns

    Yeah, so weird.

  • MoominFloren

? you mean he’s unable to shoot due to injury? ?
Oh I want him to sit then

  • wandertheglobe

He’s being treated as if he’s Kobe tonight from the whole org.

  • blubell

    Assist! and the lead!

  • Brent Yen

Nah…it is about time I guess. Lin is in because of Trey Burke

  • Maknusia

    yeah….and Brown not bad…could hit his 3s!

  • Briiick

WOW, Lin is Mr. Winner !

  • blubell
  • sport

Wonder if Lin can take some shots, he was making those 3s during warmups.

  • Brent Yen

    LOL

  • Maknusia

warmups are different…there is no pressure on the shot

  • Alaingrvis

Somepeople seem dejected by lins bad shooting which was expected given the injury. Still he is making things happen. He is playing great defense. As an athlete he had to play through it. Shows his toughness. Move on. Yes this game don’t mean anything but it shows to future teams don’t question lins heart

  • golfhacker

There is supposed to be an eclipse tonight. Maybe something cosmic?

  • blubell

It is hard to not like Jeremy after watching Linsanity… you’d have to be heartless 🙂

  • joyce ward

    Good post

  • Maknusia

    JC is in for JL

  • Brent Yen

Seems like the only thing Lin could not do is to raise his arms high enough

  • Maknusia

    totally!

  • wandertheglobe

    Lin is out

  • Grace Nsns

Lin out. I’m done for tonight.

  • HeroBallJLIN

Probably for the best. Lin is looking like he’s in pain

  • Keith

That’s it. Let’s call a night for Lin. Hit the gym.

  • blubell

Ok. Back to Puzzles and Dragons 😛

  • Maknusia

Hope he gets good rest and recovers in the next couple of days

  • Brent Yen

He was just THROWING the ball.

  • Briiick

Most importantly, he had helped LAL gain the lead before he went to the bench.

  • wandertheglobe

Lakers can do without JHill, Wes Johnson and Ryan Kelly……anyone else?…Oh yeah Kobe.

  • Brent Yen

Seems like Lin was the only guy who can handle the ball today

  • orLinaryjoe

Kobe for the day award? Like my son’s student of the week award?

  • sport

Ouch that should’ve been a foul on Tarik Black for Hayward!

  • Alaingrvis

Luckily there’s two days of rest comming up

  • sws94

Yeah, that was a terrible no-call by the refs.

  • Brent Yen

Sometimes, it has to be someone other than Lin

  • Alaingrvis

    Verticality

  • wandertheglobe

    wow that was hard fall

  • sws94

    He wasn’t vertical though.

  • Brent Yen

    LOL I guess

  • Alaingrvis

    It was close

  • TTNN

he was, Hayward bumped into him.

  • Brent Yen

I saw Hayward went down like this 4 times already over the yrs. And I do not watch Jazz much. He has a weird angle for dunking or layups

  • Alaingrvis

Clarkson cant gaurd Burke but idk if I want Lin playing more

  • real-dsb

no more Lin… so root for Lakers loss?

  • sws94

I thought his arm swung down a bit on the replay.

  • TTNN

Wes foul again? He always foul in critical time though

  • Brent Yen

I used to be like that. Now it just does not matter

  • sport

Should change the way he dunks or get to the rim then, could cause serious injury like that.

  • Filler-up

Take Lin out and they lose. So typical. Injured Lin is still a better chance of winning than Clarkson. Plus JHill is a negative.

  • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

Will be on shaqtin a fool tomorrow lol

  • Brent Yen

I guess he always think there is a foul to give

  • Alaingrvis

    15 games

  • sport

Lakers want to lose anyway no point in rooting for loss.

  • sport

Johnson got 5 fouls in a low scoring game? How’s that possible?

  • TTNN

that one was pretty unnecessary though

  • Brent Yen

    He is out now…lol

  • Brent Yen

    BS likes defense…I guess..

  • TTNN

    lol, got another foul

  • Brent Yen

Our chat could not even catch up how fast he fouls someone

  • real-dsb

that’s why I’m confused. a loss is a win for the Lakers (keep top 5 pick)?

  • Brent Yen

They are still top 4……need to lose ALL the games to be in top 3 I think

  • real-dsb

Lakers fouling, trying to win the game LOL

  • Brent Yen

Pretend trying to win to be exact

  • sport

They do that every game but without Lin and this dumb coach not a chance.

  • Brent Yen

This game is so winnable if Lin is healthy….

  • blubell

    So… highlights? lol.

  • Briiick

It’s a BS statement: I do not tank, I really do.

  • Maknusia

yeah…LAL again fail to live up Q4

  • real-dsb

what? how so fast? the game’s not even over!

  • blubell

It was over long time ago when Jeremy subbed out.

  • blubell
  • Maknusia

    JLin’s game is over 🙂

  • JoeTeam

Lin gassed out by 2nd half … hope he recovers … maybe he can take couple of games off so he can finish well like just after ASG.

  • real-dsb

but still, this highlight video was probably minutes after Jeremy subbed out. footwearfoot orz

  • Rick Johnson

Tomorrow Phil plays NYK. Lakers might catch Phil in the tank race.

  • blubell

With back issues, probably figured he won’t be coming back.

  • blubell
  • sport

Hope Lin’s back and wrist will recover soon, maybe take some games off. Doesn’t matter if he misses them since they’re tanking.

  • TTNN
  • blubell
  • HeroBallJLIN

SO BS is trying to diss Lin again?

  • TTNN
  • CJSHYY

What’s the point? JC just can’t do it. He can get good stats for AS bc the players w him on court did make the shots…. JC is a SG more than PG no matter what? BS is all BS.

  • TTNN

    I don’t think that’s from BS…. it’s not a quote

  • Arsenium12 .
  • CJSHYY

I think maybe bc Lin can’t play too long so they asked JC just to do simply pass?!

  • leeda harun

Jlin is a fighter…but I hope his back is fine on Sunday

  • blubell
  • leeda harun

is this because risky passes and blown assists?

  • IsabeliJane*17

On his way to the dugout for injury treatment, I suppose.

  • HeroBallJLIN

    cant find him

  • IsabeliJane*17

For those guys Jeremy played a prank on, now is the chance to get back at him somehow lol.

  • blubell

    Haha. Get in line.

  • leeda harun

Sometimes I blame Jeremy…he has a back spasm and he take charges..isnt that making the back spasm worse?!

  • blubell

    Try finding Jeremy not Waldo.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    U joking?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He would be good to close tonight had they wanted to win

  • Maknusia

Its more like…in the flow of the game…once you are on the floor, you dont think too much of your injury….he is a dedicated player…after all…anti-tank

  • Acbc

Players in general will never accept their own weakness. That is the nature of why they are at the top of the food chain. It takes a great coach like Pop to sit them down for their own good.

I recently read a sports psycology book for the corporate environment. In it the author spoke about how CEOS and managers need to understand that they must assess their own ability to control their own energy flow. In the same way athletes must always assess how much energy must be kept in reserve to complete a given task. The same way Pop manages his team is what a business leader must also do. If they are not fit, they have little or no reserve to do battle against other companies. A BATTLE IS ONLY WORTH A CERTAIN AOUNT OF ENERGY EXPENDATURE. A WAR IS WON BY HOW MUCH RESOURCE IS AVAILABLE.

Byron Scott doesn’t care about any of that. Pop would never allow Lin to push himself beyond what his body is capable of expending.

  • Maknusia

    Picture Time!!!

  • JoeTeam

    ookaaay …

  • IsabeliJane*17

I always got his back, injury or none…. except this one bitterness. 🙂

  • Maknusia

    Still helping out on D!!!

  • Maknusia

    A Little bit more…

  • leeda harun

haha…I dont think Jlin is in a good mood right now

  • JoeTeam

Brent was right – he’s stretching out in the tunnel …

  • JoeTeam

hot true, see his TO with behind the back cut.

  • Maknusia

    Break!!! 🙂

  • Maknusia

    That’s it for today…

  • chan c

I hope he just rests. Preserve his body for free agency.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Pop has a goal to win champ so he needs his best players to be v er y healthy. BS has no goal and not even a chance to make playoff.

  • HeroBallJLIN

yeah im not a good photoshopper 🙁

  • HeroBallJLIN

Lin mentioned in post game interview that he messed up his back from practice. Maybe yesterday when they played scrimmage and Lin hit that game winner over Jordan Hill, he hurt himself from that??

  • TTNN

I still find it kind of strange, that the Lakers gives out Linsanity DVD to every one to the game, yet there is no promotion from Lakers, you see no tweets about it other than the Linsanity tweeter account. Not even any beat writers, why is that?

  • leeda harun

maybe want to surprise the fans?

  • TTNN

that’s a lot of copy though. For a player not come back next year?

  • leeda harun

yeah..and only jlin can answers this question…

  • Briiick

I have said that there are more than two hands on the steering wheel of this LAL boat.

  • Maknusia

    hahaha

  • Acbc

The trouble is that even with two hands on the wheel, there is no rudder to steer the ship. KOBE has seen to it to destroy that already.

  • sport

Either that he or feel down on his back?

  • Rookie75094

I root for tankers win to mess up their plan

  • JoeTeam

    no keel?

  • JoeTeam

I saw him really try to stretch it out LAL v GSW before a stint, so maybe it was bugging him over time too.

  • Briiick

Could someone draw a boat described above ?

  • I guess BScott learned a thing or two about Lin’s toughness although he wouldn’t say it

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • blubell
  • JoeTeam

    wow …

  • man, he shouldn’t have played since it will aggravate the injury :[

  • blubell
  • Maknusia
  • JoeTeam

gotta start looking forward to his future!

  • leeda harun

    Oh my..that is bad

  • Briiick

So the blue parts have been destroyed by a big shark.

  • Maknusia

it was on the ground…destroyed by the tank!

  • Maknusia

At least three was some credit from BScott

  • Maknusia

Exactly, crazy guy, not worth for a tanking team

  • blubell
  • Acbc

This what I’ve been worried about with Lin and his dogged determination to give his all. In the right hands of a good coach, lin would have never seen much play time tonight if at all. However, Scott is a very bad coach that would not hesitate to leave lin out to dry. I wouldn’t even put it past him to let Lin hurt himself even more.

I hope his family and friends can talk some sense into him.

  • cali7

Hey guys. I went to the game but got there late so saw the game from a little more than the second half of the second quarter until the nearly the end of the game. I left early (around 1 min left in the game).

I don’t have much to say because I didn’t pay as much attention as I have done in previous games. I did see Lin fiddling/rubbing his wrist a couple times when he was sitting. I think I saw a couple JLin Garden fans because I saw a sign that looked like ones that have been posted here previously.

I got there a little after 8 pm and no one was handing out DVDs from the entrance I went through. There were boxes on the side and since I knew they were giving it out, I asked the lady scanning the tickets and she said someone was supposed to be handing it out but that we could take it from the box, but only one each. Glad I got it since the kickstarter one I got didn’t have a proper plastic case.

As for the game, it was rough, and Lin didn’t look too comfortable out there. When Lin missed the layup and had the turnover near the top of the key in the first half I think it was, people around me were like, “man, come on, Lin,” in a disappointed tone. Nevertheless, second quarter, they were down but fought through and the crowd was excited. Then again in the fourth, they were finally getting into a groove, continuing to keep it close, but then Scott changed the line-up. Not surprised. After this change and as the minutes passed, people starting leaving at every time-out. It has become very sad at these games.

Out of the past three games I have gone to (Mavs, Pistons, Jazz), the Pistons game, the one Lin played the 4th, is the only one where people actually stayed. I am not saying it was solely because of Lin, but from what I’ve seen, the tide turned for the worse in both games when Lin sat the 4th, and the Lakers began losing the lead. People starting leaving because the momentum just felt like it shifted. You can feel the crowd just kind of give up.

Non-Lin note: Gordon Hayward played well. Good defense. Looked at him more closely after all the praise KHuang has given him.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

BS wants this team to continue practicIng so hard this late of the season, they must be fighting for higher seed in playoff.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Thanks for the report.

  • CJSHYY

BTW, so no one handle out the DVD? Are there still a lot left in the box?

  • Thanks for the game experience update, @cali7:disqus
Feel bad Lin’s back was hurting so he couldn’t play his best game but at least you got the Linsanity DVD :]

Thanks for confirming that fans knew Lin brought the excitement and momentum when he played late in the 4th quarter.
Most fans probably knew LAL was tanking heavily by playing rookies to close games.

Tanking is bad business for NBA indeed. So many empty seats

  • leeda harun

Something weird is going on in la la land

  • CJSHYY

Lakers FO seems to be always like this. smh!

  • Maknusia

Thanks for sharing….sweet…you got the DVD!

  • blubell

Did anyone receive Jeremy’s quarterly box? I thought it was due to ship out in March…

  • cali7

I didn’t get mine yet. They said that they charge your card when it ships and they haven’t charged me yet and I haven’t received any notification either.

  • For some reason, I still feel dirty when Stu screamed “Beautiful!” after Jeremy pump-faked 2 bigs [mark 1:09]
It just sounds so fake .. Stu must’ve gotten a marching order to sing praises for Lin

No one was handing it out at my entrance when I went in around 8:10 p.m. and the first quarter had already ended. I’m sure people were there when they opened up the doors. I heard that those people who hand things out get seats to watch the game from the 300 section.

There appeared to be a number of unopened boxes stacked on their side, but I didn’t look closely to see if they were unopened, new boxes. There was a box at the top that was open so I took mine from there. Each box was fairly long but not very deep or high.

  • cali7

The shots he took definitely looked like ones he would normally make and has been making.

  • HeroBallJLIN

really? i didn’t notice. Its not back spasm. Lin said he got hit hard during practice. Probably scrimmage.
    Said yesterday it happened.

  • cali7

The fans must know it. Jabari Brown was even playing some minutes in the end.

I forgot to mention a random but funny thing during a time out where the cameras pan out to fans dancing or what not. This white 8 year old boy had on 5 or so jerseys and kept taking a layer off as he danced to the music until he was left with his LA lakers long-sleeve warm up shirt. One of those jerseys was none other than #17.

  • cali7

It’s pretty awesome that they were giving it out. I personally think it’s good PR and hopefully the Lakers fans watch it and they can respect and appreciate him more.

Great crowd report. Hard to tell how clear it is when Lin is pulled. I just stop watching and do other stuff at my desk.

  • Lin’s toughness is underrated.
Back Alignment moved 6-8 inches to the side! Ouch :[
Hope he recovers well tonight & not play on Sunday for long-term health

Except he wasn’t at all. Lin suffered back spasms that he said stemmed from what he called an undisclosed “bad hit” in Wednesday’s practice. Lin reported that collision caused his back alignment to move “probably six to eight inches to the side.” That left Lin and the Lakers’ training staff furiously spending Wednesday’s practice, Thursday’s morning shootaround and Thursday’s pre-game warmups trying to fix his back.

Once it was all done, Lakers trainer Gary Vitti was overheard praising Lin for fighting through his injury. Lin praised the Lakers’ training staff in return. Lin reiterated that afterwards when he said the Lakers’ training staff “did an unbelievable job.”

  • That boy knows Linsanity better than BScott! LOL

    Great story! Thanks

  • leeda harun

not only toughness but strong will.

  • Michael

Clarkson, for example, doesn’t have to try to pass. Has kept things iso. Scott is good with that forever.

  • MoominFloren

OMG 6-8 inches to the side…
Lin’s tough but I really really really want him to rest. No need to prove anything to this tankers

  • sport

Both Bledose and Wall have 11-12 more blocks than Lin even with an average of ~35 minutes per game while JLin only has an average ~25 minutes per game! If Lin can get 2-3 blocks for the rest of the games maybe he catch them in total blocks even with way fewer minutes! Now that would be amazing to have the highest rate and highest number of blocks with bench player minutes!

  • John Lee

    No, not Shaq…Kobe. LOL

  • Kwok Wai Lai

What’s the purpose of having those hard practices before game. Byron’s hard practices has helped the Lakers to win more games. On the contrary, those practices has led to injuries of players that hurt the team. Please fire Byron Scott. This team will look a whole lot better without Byron Scott and Kobe Bryant.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I’m worrying about the long term effect on Jeremy.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hope that these 15 games would be soon to past.
I have seen enough of Byron and Kobe. I assure you that they aren’t pleasant to watch.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Why would Byron allow this type of practice anyway? Are they playing for playoff or anything close? Why would Byron do such stupid things to get players hurt?

  • joyce ward

Something strange is going on. There were posts on here saying Stu and the TCW news crew was praising lin all during the game. They gave out the Linsanity DVD’s last night. also, so what is up?

  • K. P. Chan

If there’s any doubt remaining about Lin’s toughness, it would be on the part of the biased whose minds we can never changed anyway. To any intelligent & objective observer, Lin’s toughness has never been in doubt even before last night’s game. My only concern now is he may be risking further injury. But he knows best.

  • joyce ward

I think lin knows best. I think he played last night because of the fans, because it was like lin’s night because of the Lakers giving out his DVD. I think in other normal circumstance he would have sat it out. Lin knows his body, even going into last night’s game, he stated he was going to try to play. I think he played well under the circumstances. He got the team back in the lead by two points before he sat down. Lin is very truthful about his body, and if he said that he would be better by next game, I will go with him on that.

  • Dan Cohen

have you noticed that when those commentators know he is playing with a a back spasm and stuff, they are ACTUALLY crediting him and saying how good his assists are and stuff.. Thing which I never really heard when I thought the assist are just normal.

So lin has to be or pretend to be hurt now in order for the media or commentators to praise him?!! That’s screw up dude

  • Dan Cohen

So surprise and interesting that we are still seeing KHuang mentioned name on this site after some moderator abused their power and tell him to leave this site because he was telling the truth due to his immense bball knowledge. • Brewkowski

Other than playing time, practice is the only thing Byron can control and feel like he has ‘power’, as we have seen all season, his coaching during games are a disaster.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Here is the last game against Warriors.

  • joyce ward

KHuang is a liar. He still can post here. Everybody is not on his bandwagon. I was the moderator who said some people find is basketball knowledge fascinating but I was not one of those people. KHuang’s problem is he has to be right all of the time and everybody else is wrong. He got his feelings hurt. There was no abuse of power over here. Some would welcome him to come post here.

  • Acbc

Khuang and I agree have had our share of intellectual battles but ive always been able to separate his factual knowledge from his persistent negative viewpoint of the world. I respect his comments because he and I share the same over the top view of how great a player Lin is. Listening to him sometimes going on about prejudice and how Lin’s personal battles always comes down to that can be somewhat annoying. It’s like watching a twisted vision by Tim Burton through his darken filtered view of the world. Sometimes you just want to tear those dark shades off.

The thing is Khuang got IT right when he predicted DNP CD and many of us gave him credit for it. Khuang just kept gleefully going on and on about how the rest of the season we’d see a series of DNP CD, which as we all know hasn’t happened at all. Instead we got a “market correction” with a mini Linsanity of 5 games. A lot of us were already pissed about it with a lot of frayed nerves and Khuang’s gleeful comments finally touched one too many raw nerves.

We all would love to have Khuang bring his expertise back to our forum, that’s a fact. The problem is that he takes it too personal whenever someone disagrees with him. He’s had many series of personal battles with other posters and it polutes the forum with negativity.

In the conclusion of a PBS special on “Bee intelligence”, the author said that he wishes the human world could operate more like bees. The hive is like our forum and each of us bring our own human experience to add to the honey comb of knowledge. Unlike humans, bees don’t carry any ego or pride of what knowledge they bring. Khuang has a great deal to offer but he also brings a lot of vinegar in his honey and it can wear people down when nerves are frayed and worn out by the constant BS from LA. Ego and pride gets in the way of the message and any good brought to the hive gets lost.

A Series of Unfortunate Lakers Events – Part 7 The DVD

Days before the 67th game in this miserable season, the president of Lakers operation called up a rare staff meeting, including the GM and the reps from TWC, to discuss the business future of the organization.

The president spoke: “We all know why we are here. This season is one of the worst, if not the worst, season Lakers ever has dated back to my dad’s reign.”

Everyone at the meeting kept their heads down being silent, some playing with their gadgets and hands.

Jeanie continued with a tone of urgency: “My dad built this empire with glory and success. We should not … ”

Jeanie paused, noticing something wrong: “Mitch, why the vice president is not present? I thought the memo was marked as mandatory attendance.”

Mitch: “Yes, I believe Jim got the memo. But something came up at the last minutes that Jim had to take care of.”

The secretary of the president approached Jeanie and whispered some thin words.

Then Jeanie replied unpleasantly, “Playing golf with Kobe and BS, that’s important than the future of the Lakers?”

Mitch: “Well, I do not agree with that neither. But Jim said making Kobe happy is always the priority.”

Jeanie: “So you are saying Kobe is the future of the Lakers?”

John, the VP of business strategy of TWC, cut in: “Jeanie, it is OK. Mitch is here. We don’t need Jim present to make decision anyway. Let’s get on to the business.”

Jeanie continued: “The paper before you lists the tickets sales and revenues so far for this season. I can tell you this. It is not good. Actually it is very bad.”

John: “TWC is in this together with the Lakers. We are here to make sure we can do anything possible to help the Lakers, you know, from a business point of view.”

Jeanie: “Just give you some perspectives. For the past few games, especially the Sunday games, the courtside seats were at least 30% empty. Suits sales were no better.”

Jeanie: “Just give you another one. Last Sunday, Staples Center was packed in the afternoon (Note: Clipper vs Rockets). Hours later, when I looked at the arena, it was like I was looking at an arid place.”

John: “Not that we want to put salt onto the wound, but the viewing is at the lowest since Lakers and TWC signed the deal, if you look at page 18 in the paper.”

Jeanie: “Not that we should not worry about our long term prospect, is there any way we can boost our short term revenue? Any idea?”

    A minute of silence passed.

Then one of the staff that is in charge of merchandise sales and inventory spoke up: “We ordered some large chunk of DVD last summer. But we never promote it hard. Maybe we can leverage that by giving it out.”

Jeanie: “What DVD? How a DVD can help the tickets and viewing? Muse? I thought they are not available yet. Besides, I don’t think it will help.”

The staff: “Actually it is Linsanity DVD.”

Jeanie: “Oh, OK. Now I got what you are getting at. That might work. Sharp mind. Your bonus will be doubled this year if it works.”

The staff: “It should work. A stone for 2 birds. We can get rid of DVDs while boost our revenue a bit, you know for the short term.”

John: “Great idea. I will ask our program guy to prep the promotion.”

The staff: “Ahem, may I have another suggestion?”

Jeanie: ”Shoot! Anything is better than nothing.”

The staff: “Actually it is for TWC.”

John: “Great. Anything we can help.”

The staff: “Since it is a Linsanity promotion, it is better that TWC game announcers won’t bad mouth him, at least for the periods of the promotion.”

Jeanie: “Why TWC would say anything bad about the player of the team it sponsors? I don’t believe it.”

John: “Jeanie. I am sure there is some kind of miss-understandings. I will clear that up.”

Jeanie: “No wonder I kept getting those nonsense tweets from the fans. Now it is getting some sense.”

The staff: “Ahem ahem, may I have another suggestion?”

Jeanie: “Today is your day. Just say it”.

The staff: “This time it is for the coach.”

Mitch: “Well, I hope I can say anything I can help. But I can’t help with the coach.”

Jeanie: “Can you at least try?”

Mitch: “OK, I will do my best.”

The staff: “OK, then. It is better for him to play more than 30 minutes and close the games. Better yet, start him or switch 1st and 2nd unit for starting. You know, to make games more exciting. This should help the fans more involved.”

Mitch: “Wow, I don’t know an inventory staff knows basketball. But this will ruin our strategy of prioritized winning. Since you are the man today, I will relay the message to the coach. But you know, no guarantee.”

Jeanie: “Mitch, make sure it happens. Just think about 3 years from now and your job.”

    Mitch: “Ahem, yes madam.”

Jeanie: “Now, the long term plan, any thoughts?”

The staff: “May I present a bold plan?”

Jeanie: “I should promote you the director of business strategy. Just say it out loud!”

The staff: “Take out the two heads snake and insert the dragon knight. This will save the Lakers.”

Mitch: “I know. But we (The Family) don’t have the guts and visions.”

Jeanie: “Not a master of basketball terms. Say it in business language …”

The two books I’m reading is by Jim Loehr. ” the corporate athlete” and “the only way to win”. It’s an interesting read but I haven’t had time to properly digest it to formulate an opinion.

  • Acbc

Good coaches control a team’s limited resources of energy, poor coaches are not able to control their emotions to know when to pull back the troops and surrender a battle in order to win a war. Pop is an expert at handling team energy and reserves.

The finest example of this is Mchale and Pop last season. Rockets won all regular season games but was destroyed in the first round. Everyone complains that Lin can’t play back to back and has such a terrible record of losses. The truth is that Kevin MCHALE was so bad at managing his team’s energy reserves. How many times have we seen Mchale over use his starters. There was one game in particular that was a blow out and yet Mchale kept Harden in to pad stat.

A good coach measures the important stretches of each game to use his starters to keep the game close while using his bench to rest the starters. A poor coach will keep his starters in to continue to build leads and tire out his starters. The game is won in the forth and in the last 3 minutes. Keeping the starters fresh for those runs is what creates a team win that achieves a balanced attack and a balanced inclusive win for everyone.

Lin has had a bad rap for bad back to backs because of how badly Mchale has handled his team’s reserves.

  • lleepar

… and speaking of the bad rap for back to backs, I noticed that Scott has decided that Jeremy’s next turn in the starting lineup will be the second game of a back to back on the road with travel in between.

Los Angeles Lakers – Jeremy Lin Limited With Back Problems

In a 80-73 loss to the Utah Jazz Jeremy Lin fought his way through back spasms that turned it into one of his weakest performances this season, but this team continues to sink towards new lows due to the abysmal coaching figure, Byron Scott, an expert at doing nothing on the sidelines.

Maybe Lin shouldn’t have played at all, but he did try to play with intensity and aggression. It didn’t always work out, but as it is on most nights for the Lakers, the team looked better with him on the floor, as hindered and limited as he was.

It’s hard to say Jeremy Lin had a good game. Numbers don’t lie, but they don’t always tell the entire truth. Lin scored 2 points on 1-of-8 from the field with 4 assists and 3 steals. The Lakers lost by seven points while he was on the floor.

But what about other things? The opportunities Lin creates for his teammates? The lack of movement that the Lakers’ offense is famous for, which made Lin struggle as the Jazz smartly double teamed him, knowing he’s pretty much the only player on the Lakers that can create good shots for his teammates?

An excellent example of this “phenomenon” happened in the fourth quarter after Lin was pulled out of the game for good. The Lakers couldn’t get a single shot that you’d call “good” or wide open. Contested jumper after contested 3-pointer. With Lin gone from the floor, the ball movement died, and with it the last ounce of creativity on one of the most unintelligent teams in the league.

Not all players understand the game well enough to see through defense weakness. Not everyone gets to know how to move without the ball and make it easier for ball handlers to create good shots for the team. But that is where a coach comes in. A good coach instills those qualities in his players. He talks and teaches motion offense, smart ball movement and prepares them for certain defenses and developing opportunities.

Not Scott. His job this season is to manage (or mismanage to be more accurate) and watch the ship sinking without interfering too much. But the tanking “excuse” just makes it like Scott was set up to fail with bad players. Sure, he doesn’t have the most talented group in the NBA; far from it. But Scott can hide behind the tanking and conceal his incompetence as a head coach from most of the blind media for at least this season and maybe a little while longer.

The Lakers reach 50 losses for a second straight season. A low point for this franchise, that has made so many wrong decisions over the last few years it takes three 1000-word posts to cover them all from start to finish. This season could have been followed by something other than a bitter after taste. Losing should never be the goal of a franchise, but the Lakers prefer basing their future on blind luck than on smart and loyal players, deserving better than the treatment and coaching they’ve received this season.

    deactivated glutes?

  • Dan Cohen

Actually, I beg to differ about what you said about his predictions.

He did say dnp cd- BUT that is BEFORE Price was not injury. You have to think about that.. what happens if Ronnie was never injured.. lin might or might not have dnp. Variables changed. It’s like roubini talking about the housing market and he changes his view point BASED on what the government did… (if the government didn’t do cr-p, well, he might be right).

Plus also, before the date of the ASG or was it during the ASG time, he said that after ASG, be prepare that lin might explode and play his best bball of the season for a while because he and his teammates might have enough of the coach’s BS. So lin did have what you call a mini linsanity.(I treasure that word linsanity, so I don’t use it to just describe anything). I know this for sure because I say to him.. “hope you are right, and if you are, I will freaking call you Khuangsanity”.. I did call him that I think after the 3 games of lin style bball before BS calls off pnr.

He does get over the top with his beliefs, but his bball knowledge and discussion are valid..and I think that weighs more than his over the top beliefs. I got even attacked by him saying that I’m stupid to think that lin needs a shooting coach who was playing that arcade basketball.. when I was kidding or either that I didn’t see the video but was thinking that video was a real bball shooting coach because lin’s shooting was way off for a certain period (thought he should know my sarcastic style now). I told him to chill.

but dude.. if he is that old or something .. I can’t blame him because older people are like that.. they have their set beliefs (old as in 50 years old) especially if he did seen A LOT of ball over the years. I just had a small discussion with him about the 80s illegal defense and concur how lin will be a super star easily if that was to occur today and mj will be just a 20 point average scorer instead of 30 points. I had that discussion because I saw a video that shed a whole new light on 80s illegal defense and how all super stars wants to bring that back as oppose to modern era bball. btw, I’m way A LOT younger than 50s, lol

it must be crazy to be moved around like that.

  • FrankW

That is because Lin feeds everyone with the ball, including Ellington.

  • FrankW

Go easy with that, I have AAPL.

  • joyce ward

I gotta say that Jeannie and her marketing team made a smart move by giving away the Linsanity DVD’s. Most LA fans don’t know his journey, and I suspect Jeannie knows this and if they watch the DVD, they will become even more a fan of lin. Let us just see what happens. Also, I believe there are two camps inside of the Laker organization: kobe’s camp and Mitch/FO camp with Jeannie Buss being the puppet master. This will be interesting how it turns out.

  • joyce ward

Also, I think the reason Lin played last night was because of his fans. He knew fans had flown in from Taiwan to watch him play and it was obviously a lin fan nite with them giving out his DVD. I think if the circumstances were different, I think he would have sat out of he game. So let’s not judge him too harshly, after all LBJ was a game time decision on whether he would play because of a head cold. Need I say more.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

(Believe it’s) Read from Linsanity movie that when JLin was traded to Lakers, Linsanity movie team contacted Lakers to do this event so that more LA residents would know more about JLin’s story.

  • joyce ward

OK, good move by his team.

  • Brent Yen

I will go with his decision every time. There is really nothing for us to judge about his decisions anyway

  • joyce ward

Me too Brent. There is nothing shady about lin. He is not egotistical. I also think lin knows his limitations on how far he can take his body.

  • CJSHYY

Oh! I see. So Lakers finally wants to do it now bc they want to resign w Lin?! LOL!

  • Brent Yen

yeah….at most just do some analysis on his bball play for fun. Other than that, just enjoy…lol

  • FrankW

A head cold is not the same as a contorted back. Now if King James play without air conditioning, that would be something!

  • Brent Yen

    LOL

  • Brent Yen

Lin will go to Taiwan earlier this time for Tag Heuer event (in June) I think Lin is really smart on choosing endorsement offers. Only 200 (Lin’s edition) will be made…..M…for NTD 82,500. about USD 2,630.

  • joyce ward

I also think the Laker’s have been getting a lot of heat from all of their sponsors. They are not winning any games and there is no excitement or incentive for them to watch a game. Lin is a fan favorite and I think they want more of his teamwork basketball because it is fun to watch. I think kobe finds himself in a situation where he has never been before. I think he underestimated lin’s talent and his place in the NBA because of his fans. Lin has an international fanbase who is smart and statistic driven. The NBA counted o fans buying what thy say, but lin’s fan base is challenging them

  • joyce ward

I have been reading the background of the this company. They are very choosy on who they select to represent them. I think that this will be huge for lin in the future. They have also partnered with Google and Intel to make a an android watch comparably to the apple watch and they will have lin and the other athletes sell it.

  • joyce ward

    A good one…LOL

  • Brent Yen

I really hope it will be a success (with Lin on board of course). Many ppl think those traditional watchmakers are going into history for good in a very near future.

  • joyce ward

They are thinking ahead because they have partnered with Google and Intel which tells me that they are trying to stay relevant.

  • Brent Yen

BTW, I think the reason for June is because in July, Lin is gone. And a New version of Lin’s watch has to be made! lol

  • joyce ward

Not bad, because their watches are expensive. I have no doubt that Lin’s watches will sell on in China/Taiwan.

  • FrankW

I’m just glad Lin didn’t fall like Hayward last night. That was nasty, glad Hayward is ok.

  • Brent Yen

Euros are weaker recently, so I guess they tried to have a push for their sale in Asia.

  • joyce ward

I think so too. Also there was an article about ED Davis being high up on that the Lakers want to keep according to Scott. It is very ironic that he credited lin for making his game look good. I guess that went right over Scott’s head.

  • joyce ward

    Yep, I think so too.

http://udn.com/news/story/7489/777700

Purgatory is a transitional state while locked in Disqus is permanent. I have never gotten out myself.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

From this article, still not 100% clear that whether DVD is sponsored by Linsanity movie team or Lakers.

  • JoeTeam

You know you are right – this is a move to change the fans to go away from Kobe to Lin. Hmmm … very good catch.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I did wonder about the timing of this event. Lakers has been contacted by JLin team ever since he was traded. Why did it now and not before? It’s esp after KB’s bio one was being available. Very very interesting time for JLin.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Counting time:
    15 games

26 days to end of season
    100 days to FA
Get well soon JLin!! Stay healthy and continue to improve your games!!!!

  • linspiredinla
  • 1mtoldman

100 days 2 free agency. good to know can start a countdown.

  • 1mtoldman

    nope. never have either.

  • FrankW

And that would be about 315,730 in Japanese Yen or 2,928,490 in Korean Won, not that I have anywhere near that kind of money for a watch. Brent, are you going to buy a few?

  • Brent Yen

No..I think the most I have spent on a watch, it was about NT$2500…about USD80? I had a Seiko as a gift.

  • sport

Geez that price just for a cloth band? O.o

  • Rick Johnson

    Wow, That’s $2,600 US.

  • linspiredinla

I believe it’s leather on the front. Can check description on website.

  • joyce ward

Don’t care, I am going to get me one..LOL

  • CJSHYY

I think by Lakers bc 30,000 DVD it’s a lot.. that company it’s not even rich…Plus why they need to promote Lin in LA?!

  • Brewkowski

Get one for me too. I’ll pay you back. 😉

  • joyce ward

    LOL

  • Brent Yen

RWB is about to get another TD. ATL were cheated by refs for a few key possesions

  • Brent Yen

    ATL just collapsed ….

  • BobbyH

Yep, well refs allowed OKC to bully them too.

  • Brent Yen

Man OKC’s player just can not be touched, and ATL’s being hammered..lol

  • orLinaryjoe

    Apple sauce team! Believable.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

MDA has been receiving attention from the media lately. If Jim Buss exerts his last push, he could hire MDA to replace Byron Scott who is finishing with the worst record in Laker history. On top of that any coach would look great. With Jeremy + MDA, the Lakers is going to step into a new era immediately with more talents and healthy players than before.

There is very little that Kobe can do but watch how he’s being phased out next season. The ultimatum is Byron Scott must be fired. Steve Nash might even come back as an assistant coach of MDA.

  • sport

Hawks should’ve taken note of what Pop did during last season’s playoff games.

  • MoominFloren

Good. The price is lower than I expect. Is it available now? Coz I’m going to Taiwan next week and in June as well

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin needs his coach to be very productive. Replacing Byron Scott with MDA will be the most sensible move for the Lakers to rebuild their team. Of course, it would only be announced in the off season.

  • Jeff Malone

Not too bad. What’s NT? Taiwan dollar?

  • Jeff Malone

So pay $1-2k for a metal band? I prefer metal as well but that seems like a large discrepancy.

  • Brent Yen

    I guess in June?

  • Brent Yen

Without Krover, they lost too many chances for mismatches, and defense. Yes, defense.

Rondo didn’t make any impact w Mav but he tried hard to do whatever coach wants… so he maybe will stay then?! Mav loss tonight.

WearIng a high end watch has never been for knowing your time or date..etc..but it’s a piece of high tech jewelry.

  • yes, it will be fun to see everyone gets a different “Game-Ready” items in their 1st box.

1 lucky subscriber will get a game-worn shoes from Jeremy

This is the content of exclusive interview with Jeremy about him (video games & JLin Foundation) & the subscription from the link that @blubell:disqus posted above

    20 Mar

    Get to know Jeremy Lin!

We’re so excited to have you on board Jeremy! We’d love for our fans and your fans to get to know a little bit more about you and your subscription.

Q: What excites you about being a Quarterly curator?

A: It’s a great opportunity for me to be creative and show my personality through the creation of a box. These boxes are meant to pass on the love and appreciation I’ve received from so many people back to my fans. It’s also a chance to support my foundation as well as a chance to give you guys a closer, unfiltered look into who I am as a person.

Q: What can fans expect to receive from your subscription?

A: I don’t want to give away too much yet, but I promise that it will be interesting and it will be very “me.” Oftentimes what you guys see on TV and on the court, I can only express one part of who I am as a basketball player. This box gives me the chance to touch on other aspects of who I am and share it with you guys.

Q: If you could do one thing besides basketball, what would it be?

A: Maybe I would try to be a professional gamer LOL. I’ve always been passionate about video games but because of my schedule I can only get to a certain level!

Q: We love the social good component of your box, could you tell us how the Jeremy Lin foundation started?

A: Growing up, I used to pick up my teammates to bring them to games and some of them lived in really rough neighborhoods. Some of my good friends never thought about college or getting a good education, and that’s when I really saw how everyone’s upbringing is so different and how that affects each of our dreams. I promised myself if I ever got the opportunity I would start a foundation and give back to allow kids to dream big and have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.

Q: The theme of your first box is “game-ready,” do you have any spoilers for us?

A: There are going to be personalized things in this box that you won’t be able to get anywhere else. And as a special treat, one lucky subscriber will win a pair of signed game worn shoes from me!

Check out Jeremy’s Facebook page for the full video and details.

Thanks Jeremy, we’re looking forward to your first box! If you’re not already subscribed, you can still grab a box here.

  • yes, hopefully Jeremy will skip the next 2-3 games to get his back healthy for the last 10 starts =]
We need a timer for the FA date later, hehe..

  • no worries, we’ll add the countdown later :]
    something to look forward indeed

  • wow, only 200?
I wonder if there would be high demand

  • haha.. I can’t have expensive watches since I keep losing them LOL

  • hehe nice zing!.. maybe the head cold was due to too-much AC LOL

  • yes, I don’t know many people that wouldn’t be inspired after watching the Linsanity DVD
The real story of an underdog beating all odds :>
I think I will watch it again now, hehe…

  • Kianainhi

Very interesting. During Lakers media day, Lin said his Harvard friends are working on Wall St & at Google.

  • Kianainhi

Davis might change his tune if another team offers him more $$$$ than Lakers. This FA will indeed be interesting & I can’t wait.
Has anyone figured out why Davis seems to play less than 20 mins per game? Also, doesn’t finish games. Tanking is in full mode.

  • Dan Cohen

so many ppl got them..are they free? =)

  • Dan Cohen

the last paragraph is so appropriate for Jeremy’s current situation.
May God protect him for further injuries and rescue him from the Lakers soon LOL

“Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
    15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I have never heard a coach showing so much disrespect to his leading PG. Byron benched Lin and proclaimed him not fit to be a PG. Byron thought pick and roll slows down his games. That’s the most ridiculous things in the world. Byron said that Ronnie Price was the head of the snake and gave him all possible opportunities on the floor while Jeremy was deprived of his. We have all witnessed Jeremy’s talent on the floor this season. It’s Byron who has been making ridiculous coaching decisions to cause defeats after defeats, losses after losses. Byron has simply given up on the team ever since Kobe was sidelined with a pathetic showing on the court this season. His all Kobe coaching is a shame for all head coaches in NBA.

The choice is simple now. Either you fire Byron Scott or you let Jeremy go. Either you let Kobe Bryant drag the team to the cellar again for one more season with the help of Byron Scott, or start hire a new coach that can do the job. Kobe Bryant soon will find out that he’s the most unpopular NBA basketball player on the other side of the earth. His slow, selfish, one-on-one, inefficient basketball style will have no market at all. The advanced analytics has shown us how inept Kobe is on the court. There’s no fooling around. Byron’s lies can’t cover the truth that the team plays much better without Kobe.Byron Scott is the sole reason that Lakers has lost so many games.

Kobe Bryant turned over the ball so many, insulted his teammates so much and while he himself couldn’t even play more than half of the games. Anyone with common sense can tell you that he should retire before Father time and Mother Nature took him away with a worn out body crippled for life. How could Byron Scott think that the FO will stand behind him and Kobe Bryant for one more pathetic season? The fans wouldn’t. The fans in LA will give up the team for good. Jack Nicholson has already given up on this team. Who wouldn’t?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I don’t think Lin will take the insults from Kobe and Byron lightly. It’s either him or Kobe. The answer is simple. Lin will leave LA no matter how much the FO wants him. In fact no other established player in NBA will entertain the last years of Kobe. Boozer will leave too. They are just conducting themselves like a professional; not like Kobe.

The conclusion for Kobe and Byron is they have already shot themselves in their foot. There’s no future for them in NBA at all. There is no market for them. Ball don’t lie. Who would come to games to watch Byron Scott and Kobe again? Putting Kobe in a suit won’t sell tickets. How many games you think Kobe can play next season? The truth will soon come out that Byron and Kobe are done for the season and finished in their NBA career.

Lin still has a long way to go though. God bless Jeremy.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Jordon Hill needs better coaching to survive in this league.
Only Byron Scott will let him take those long 2s all night. Any other coaches with common sense will ask him to take a step back and shoot 3 pointers instead.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

A coach with no understanding of the importance of 3 point shots and PnR in NBA games now shouldn’t be a head coach at all.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I have no confidence in Byron. He often got his players hurt before games. The injury of Jeremy may not improve at all after Byron’s practices.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

You should write a book. I will buy it.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    LoL.
    Did he jump on them?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

A warrior should pick his own fight.

  • K. P. Chan

Either way the environment becomes toxic. Where there’s infighting, no one benefits, least of all Lin in this case, as he has no control or say in the matter. Lin must get out of L.A. as long as Kobe still calls the shot and Scott is the puppet. Lin can’t be happy there.

  • K. P. Chan

My devious mind and the cynic in me tell me that the team doesn’t want to showcase Davis too much as he is not exercising his Play Option. They want to keep him on the cheap and don’t want other teams to bid for him. But I am only guessing.

  • Yascar

There’s new hip hop mixtape called 56 nights that’s just been released about a DJ that spent 56 nights in prison. Might be what he’s referring to. Can’t get much info though.

    Love from God is abundant.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Byron Scott must be the worst coach that Lakers ever has?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

If the Buss family sell the team, Byron Scott would be the first one to be fired.

  • KL

They are on track for possibly the worst record in franchise history…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Last season Lakers have won 27. This season only 17 with 15 games to go. No matter how much JLin wants to win with BS as the best TANK COMMANDER in NBA, they will break the worst record in Lakers history! Little doubt since I saw through the antics of KB and BS back in Nov.

  • Filler-up

If the Clippers sold for $2bn you would think the Lakers would be worth at least that much. But then again, there aren’t that many billionnaire buyers available.

  • KL

I am going to approach the rest of the season with a “Jeremy Lin attitude”. Appreciate each game as a gift. Hope for the best. Aim to beat the tank. Put your head down, fight hard and attack!

  • KL

It was so obvious. Win with Kobe as the star or not at all.

All things considered , high quality watches should last a lifetime. My father has an automatic Tissot (which isn’t nearly as prestigious some other brands) he bought in the 1960’s and it’s still ticking. Just need to have it cleaned every 5 or 10 years.

  • 1mtoldman

a lot more than there used to be.

  • 1mtoldman

there were 2 phases to the season; support kobe as long as kobe was able to drag himself on the court.

    then: t a n k.

since the asg the lakers have not had a double digit loss. they were in every game.

they haven’t had their team stripped of assets during the season the like the knicks or decimated by injuries to their only veteran skilled players like minny

or perpetually turned over if anyone threatens to be good like the true tank champs philly (hinkie).

its has been scotts genius 2nd half to thru player abuse, misuse, management and mismanagement of minutes to sucessfully “not prioritize winning” mostly by himself. when actually having sufficient talent to win, at least a little.

most think he is just a bad coach.

i personally think he is just doing what hes supposed to do.

if you actually read laker fans comments, they from day one expected this season and the next probably to be all about holding and acquiring further draft picks.

failure to hold that “protected” pick and stay in the lottery is the only thing laker fans would revolt against.

  • Rick Johnson

He can do it without disparaging and throwing his players under the bus. I’m surprised the players don’t revolt like the Nuggets. Seems like they selected a bunch of nice guys that won’t revolt and just be happy to get a chance.

  • 1mtoldman

heres a summary of the top new article on the right side here put up relating to lin by disqus–

“Anyway, the Knicks now have 38 million dollars in cap space. That’s much better. After signing the lottery player, that comes down to about 33 million. What to do with all this money? Sign a point guard.

In triangle, the point guard is the least important player. That means the Knicks can’t spend too much here. And there’s one option that just seems perfect.

Jeremy Lin is the right man for the job? He possesses all the qualities a triangle point should.

We’ve seen Lin is relentless worker. You know he’s playing with energy and heart every time. Just the guy the Garden needs. He’s also a skilled shooter and passer. Just picture him on that pick and roll with Karl Towns and Greg Monroe.

At just 26, he’s not yet in his prime. The best part is, Knicks could sign him for 5 million!

This summer, instead of throwing 20 million a year to Tragic to play at the least important triangle position just doesn’t make sense. Reason says Phil should bring Linsanity back to Gotham.”

–paul fagan (fansided) –s.i.com –daily knicks

hot off the presses as they used to say. (just an hour ago)

the the article writer wants lin because he is a. cheap and b. the point guard doesn’t have to do much in the triangle even that isn’t enuf tho for commentors who say:

“Lin is terrible. He can’t even beat out Wayne Ellington and Jordan clarkson… if kobe and swaggy p weren’t hurt Lin would be getting DNP coach decision. .. he also has below avg Eff. He still can’t play defense. . Let it go man let it go”

–in case you dont want to give clicks to a piece thats not really very complimentary to lin. (but want to know what it says).

  • joyce ward

Davis is smart, he is saying all of the right things, but I doubt if he stays with the lakers if they don’t pay him and if he doesn’t get the contract he wants. Notice how the reporters have not asked about lin to Scott….LOL

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I feel the same way. He wants to get paid. Also Lin is the only player from this FA didn’t say he wants to stay w current team… ?!

  • I got curious to see where is Jeremy on NBA Career Assist Leader.

This is the list of Top 250 NBA Career Assist Leader.
    #1 Stockton has 15806
    #250 Chuck Person has 2645

Jeremy has 1356 assists so far in 4 seasons (without his rookie season), about 50% of what’s needed to reach #250.

IF Jeremy can get ~500 assists like his 1st year in HOU for 3 seasons, he would get 1356 + 1500 = 2856, enough to place #218 in the Assist Leader list
With the same rate, it would take 11-12 seasons to reach Top 10
So hopefully Lin can get a better rate like Nash’s in the Suns

  • joyce ward

I have to say that I am so glad that I am a Lin fan because he is so much more than basketball. I admire his stance in the face of controversy and challenges. This is a making of a pioneer, because what he is doing is never for himself, but for the next generation of Asian players that will follow him him in the NBA. I love the fact that lin is so strong and firm on his beliefs that he will not be swayed no matter what anyone thinks. I think that is what ticks off kobe/scott about Lin. They don’t know where his strength comes from and all they know that is that every stumbling block they put in his way, he overcomes it. I think many teams, GM, coaches and players in the league now know how good lin is. He is not a diva, he just loves the game of basketball. TagHuere recognized that strength in lin when they signed him. I love the fact, that lin will be involved in bringing Tag Huere into the digital age.

  • Brent Yen

    He just need a Malone….

  • Brent Yen

Well said, I am not sure if Lin thinks he is doing it for next Gan. Asian players. It probably does not matter anyway because by doing what he is doing. Those young kids will follow regardless.

Lin is a Christian and I am sure that he is aware of why he he is doing this. people need to remember that Lin is in his calling for his life and his thoughts are way above what we think he ought to do.

  • CJSHYY

Just a thought… do you think Lakers will try to sign Lin’s younger brother too?

  • Brent Yen

    Very unlikely

  • Brent Yen

    You are right.

  • CJSHYY

Why? Bc this can be part of their plan to make Lin to stay in Lakers… I don’t get why they have to go to Hamilton College w Lin in ASG break?

  • Chipdip

    Excellent post!

  • Brent Yen

I think they still want Lin as a backup. So…I do not see a team that will go all the way to achieve that by signing his bros too.

  • CJSHYY

I don’t think so bc if Lin only will be a back up why they need to bring him back in the last 10 games? For what?

  • Chipdip

    A Canuck, of course! Hahaha…

  • CJSHYY

Plus his brother will be cheap just like one of the Brown…

  • Brent Yen

But it will take one spot away from the team.

  • Chipdip

    Tanking Preparation in progress…

  • Brent Yen

That has not happened yet. Plus, from the history, we know Lin will get some kind of discount regardless. I am not really pessimistic about Lin’s situation tho. I think he will get something good somewhere else anyway

  • CJSHYY

Baby Lin can play & he’s young.. You know just do Lin a favor like Dragic & his brother. Plus if he really works out well then that’s sure a big + to Asia market.

  • Chipdip

Lin moves on and away from the Lakers?… now that would be music in my ears!

  • Brent Yen

I agree…I just do not see Lakers will sign his bro over some other non-Asian players. IMO Lin’s relationship with BS is way beyond repairable.

  • CJSHYY

I know Lin will doing well in this FA otherwise he will not pick late June to Taiwan for TAG tour… you know it’s FA time.

I really think Lakers will do everything they can to keep Lin… Baby Lin can be one of them….Just a thought…

  • joyce ward

No, not while Kobe is still there. I think lin is gone buy choice. The Lakers think that Love/Rondo will sign with them.I have a feeling that neither of them will take the bait unless the Lakers offer them the max, which I don’t see happening. I think there is a powers struggle going on in Laker’s organization right now and Jeannie Buss is the puppet master. Kevin Ding reported that Kobe was so bored with the Utah game that he was talking to fans across the court. I think kobe decided to come back and watch them play was because his documentary didn’t go as well as he thought, and I also think Mitch/F/O are playing hardball with kobe, because they are not trying to sign him to another contract.Kobe is trying to show the Mitch/F/O that he is going to mentor the rookies. I think Mitch is not buying it.

  • CJSHYY

I agree. That’s why My friend & I all think if BS stays then it’s not very likely Lin will w Lakers for next season. Also really interesting to see Lin said this .” I want to cherish these last 15.” Maybe just over thinking but use Cherish it’s sort of odd to me…LOL!

  • Jimmy Buckets

    dont think hes a prospect

  • joyce ward

If they sign his brother, it will be DLeague

  • Brent Yen

That is more likely to happen

  • Brent Yen

The moment LAL get hold on a B-Level star, they will not even think about Lin anymore

  • CJSHYY

Haha! Really? Kobe was so bored… LOL! I think Kobe just wants to make sure no more Linsanity in the Staple Center.

  • Brent Yen

He will come back a few times next season to do that anyway. It is inevitable

  • joyce ward

He couldn’t stop the Laker’s from handing out the Linsanity DVD’s…LOL

  • CJSHYY

That’s what I thought. Bc Baby Lin is in LA now…?!

  • joyce ward

I think the Laker’s have been blacklisted in the agents circle because of Kobe. The Lakers don’t have a lot of money to offer and no agent will send his player into the lion’s den with kobe still there.

  • CJSHYY

    I think so….

  • Brent Yen

I think for ALL-Stars that is true. For above average players, there maybe a few that will be willing to be a side kick/punching bag. That been said, even players like Sessions could not stay, I guess…..we can only say good luck LAL (not really)

  • CJSHYY

BTW, what do you think BS said Lakers must considers to re-signing Ellington this summer. Will Lakers do it?

  • Brent Yen

    He said that? lol

  • 1mtoldman

go read the actual quote; he said it in a backhanded way which actually means: he gone.

  • CJSHYY

Really? This is from my friend….So I don’t know exactly what he said in full statement.

  • FrankW

    My SWAG around 7k.

  • CJSHYY

Ellington & Price are his players so he sure wants them back next season.

  • joyce ward

I agree. I really don’t think Scott knows who is going to be there next year. Mitch might ask his opinion about a player, but that is it. I think Mitch spoons feed Scott wait he he wants him to know, because Mitch doesn’t trust him with any information.

  • joyce ward

Scott gave them both backhanded answers on whether they will be there next year.

  • TTNN

Byron Scott says Lakers will ‘absolutely’ consider re-signing Wayne Ellington this summer.

Only “CONSIDER”, pretty much said nothing.

  • CJSHYY

He said absolutely? Haha! Wow! He push really hard for Ellington. Ya! Of course, he is his player he sure wants to keep him. LOL!

  • 1mtoldman

well i think sometimes you can learn things from difference of emphasis; dont know exactly where to go back and find it but compare the comments on ellington to the mutual lovefest of comments between price/scott the other day.

to me the difference means, ellington yeah he’ll still have a place in the league next year because of the opportunity he got here,

price: kobe need a back up ballboy he familiar with in case rondo or someone like him dont appear.

    price si, ellington, eh.

  • 1mtoldman

ill try and find it and put it here in the stream somewhere.

  • 1mtoldman

ok off topic heres a quiz from some info on a stream im looking at: how many of the 10 players from the 90s still playing or at least on a roster in the nba can you name? (i can’t confirm it but the guy who posted this usually knows what he’s talking about).

    ill give answer later.

  • real-dsb

no, Joseph Lin has 0% chance in NBA. He played in D3 college. You’d have to be a D3 superstar to have any shot at NBA, and Joseph Lin was not.

  • real-dsb

check this out, the Lakers are considered a college team! LOL

But the Lakers will prioritize the NBA draft and marquee free agents. “He made himself a valuable part of this team,” Scott said. “We don’t know what next year holds. was jason terry. btw beard 2nite not so good only got 5 fta’s. rockets lose to phnx. p.bev fouls out failing to stop bledsoe putting up 30 plus.

  • FrankW

I see Harden getting the Jeremy Lin treatment
for 5-19, 5 turnovers tonight for the lost.

  • 1mtoldman

if harden doesnt get the ft’s he doesnt put up the points. in his 50 point game the other nite he had more fts by himself than the entire other team (and more than the rest of his teammates). 2nite only 5 ftas and not so much.

pbev fouls out failing to contain bledsoe. losing t jones again really hurts rockets.

I just read that. Rockets always seems to drop off at the end of the season.

Seems like Gregg Popovich likes smart players…

    http://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/2zt0z3/a_friend_of_mine_had_dinner_with_gregg_popovich/

“He doesn’t take self-entitled players as that would ruin team chemistry and he wants his team to be full of intelligent players playing the right way. Pop himself said that if he had to make a decision between an American player and a slightly lesser International player, he would choose the International player because he has noticed that American players are often more arrogant and self-entitled which is not what he is looking for. This is why much of his team is composed largely of foreign born players.”

There’s also this (a guy in the comments met pop and asked for coaching advice):
    http://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/23j2bc/craig_sager_jr_interviews_gregg_popovich/cgxijv4

Just sharing because I thought it was relevant to JLin free agency discussions. Also, I remember there was some chatter here that pop wouldn’t be ideal for Jeremy as a coach for some reason which I’ve forgotten.

  • Vintage

“Whenever he interviews someone in free agency or in the draft, he never talks of basketball and instead talks about personal life and current news events to make sure that the player has something in him other than basketball.”

  • FrankW

I guess its a free throw off night for him but he is the self elected cornerstone.

  • John Lee

Not sure if this is the chatter you’re referring to, but I remember KHuang talking about Pops catering to superstar players, or something similar.

  • TTNN
  • takemeback2reaganyears

    What’s the price tag?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

All coaches like smart players. The question is who has the ability to recognize the player who is smart?

    Not Bs, never.

  • PPP

    Prince?

  • chan c

Go and chase that path too , Jeremy! Be one of the best PG’s ever. 🙂

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Definitely a classy player that Kobe Bryant will never turn out to be.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

BS is a fool on the court calling all those stupid plays at the end of the game. He is the coach who turned win to losses.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

And nobody gives a damnnn about that. That’s double standard. Did you see McHale come out and calling him out?
Byron Scott should retire with his dinosaur age coaching style.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin has done a fantastic job on Bledsoe every time they met this season.
Jeremy is an underrated defender while PBev is overrated.

  • steven ko

will anyone break stockton’s assist and steals record in our lifetimes?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Now it adds to the misery when Byron Scott is the coach who prefers Kobe over anyone even when Kobe is the dead last SG in the league starting for a team. Dissing teammates doesn’t make Kobe a better player neither.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I even doubt if Byron would be back. If Lakers start rebuilding next season, Byron Scott will be fired.

  • Sophie Paris

Not less than $2000 I think

  • Sophie Paris

Lol idk but I get moderated for nothing too sometimes..

  • JC

When could we preorder them? Anyone know? I’ve never wear a watch before, really like this to be my first and only watch!

  • IIRC I think KHuang was concerned about Larry Brown who didn’t like Lin and Larry was close to Pops
Not sure if there were other concerns

  • I think deep down Pop knows Jeremy’s value as a team-first player but he just held his card close to him.

With Parker slowing down, I’d expect Jeremy would get an invite to San Antonio although this is just a personal opinion based on their mutual interest & good-to-great performance Lin had against the Spurs.

I’m not so keen with the lack of sharing-time but if Jeremy likes the idea and want to get that ring, I’m all for it :]
I want to see Jeremy plays with smart players like Duncan for his last year

  • JoeTeam

Ah for all Lin fans who like the little engine that could story, check out McFarland.

  • personally, I don’t think so.

If you look at the list, he’s got 1/3 more assists than JKidd #2 (15.8K vs 10.3K). It’s really difficult to do so by replicating Stockton/Malone PnR chemistry. Nash/Stoudemire was great but Amare’s health didn’t make it possible. A lot of thing had to gone right for sure.

  • A great clip showing Steve Nash’s journey.

Watching Nash with Amare and Shawn Marion thrived in Mike D’Antoni’s uptempo system made me wish that MDA is texting Lin, Ed Davis, and hopefully Magic GM to plan his comeback in the NBA. That would be my dream come true :]
If it happens by any chance, I’m going to frame this post LOL

    https://twitter.com/NBATV/status/579493052944797696

  • LAJane

“absolutely consider” is the same as “definite maybe”…says nothing

  • sport

I’m just hoping Lin’s been testing MDA about a team up at all! But I hope Lin’s smart enough to realize the important of a great coach and MDA by far is the best coach for him! It’d be nice to see Lin and another star big like Ed Davis to team up with MDA to finally get him that Championship coach title he so deserves! Then Lin can recruit his old pals like Novak and Landry Fields!

  • sport

JLin will have ALOT to chase and probably won’t with Nash’s amazing resume but if Lin can get a Championship as the leader of his own team that will be the one thing he can surpass Nash in.

Congratulations to jlinportal.com! Previously it never showed up in google results for “jeremy lin” and I said that would be the holy grail. Well, I am thrilled to announce that jlinportal.com now shows up on page 4 (#37 overall) of google results!

That is very high, considering that most of the higher rankings are much bigger news sites like wikipedia, espn, nba.com, yahoo sports, BR, SBNation, etc as well as his official sites jlin7.com, twitter, fb, instagram, youtube, etc.

“jeremy lin”: no hits (21 pages)

I also posted the full history at the other thread: http://www.jlinportal.com/jlinportal-site-guideline-feedback/

  • Yes, we can only hope so. Lin once said in HOU that he texted with MDA all the time (even when MDA was the coach in Lakers) so I’m pretty sure MDA would have more time to text Lin give advice with the Lakers situation 😀

Like many people, I also truly believe Lin’s biggest potential is to play similarly like Nash in the MDA system. Let’s keep hoping, praying or dreaming BIG :>

  • Brent Yen

    Sounds great!

  • Awesome, thanks for monitoring so thoroughly, real-dsb :>

I don’t know exactly how Google search engine spiders work but I have no doubt all faithful Lin fans here and the tireless work that mods do to realize the positive vision are helping to make it happen.

Thank you to everyone who believe and keep supporting our #1 vision of “Positively Bringing Together JLin Fans” despite some challenges.
Build a community to enjoy interaction and positive discussion among Jeremy Lin fans

I hope we can persevere through this tough stretch and keep supporting Jeremy Lin especially via social media. I knew he truly appreciated his faithful fan support when we supported his Foundation back in Jan. And I believe there will be light at the end of the tunnel soon for the Linsanity train! Please give yourself a big backpat =)

  • Brent Yen

I feel I just hurt my shoulder doing that self back pat….lol

  • Kwok Wai Lai

`The FO makes sure there is no more Kobe on the court after next season. They have had enough of his destruction.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Ellington is a good player but the issue is whether Lakers could find a better choice.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

To keep good players, you need the coach that will at least care about and relate to players. Byron is horrible in that aspect. He is almost a dictator in his old school type of coaching, bashing players for losses that he should personally be responsible.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Kobe looked tired too and Byron let him skip practices.
Byron is so disgustingly inept and he got his players hurt in his drills and practices. In game time, it is loss after losses.Hiring Byron Scott is the biggest mistake for Laker.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Nobody cares about Kobe now and less for Byron Scott. Hope one day Lin will come back to LA and demolish them.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    This is the time.

  • K. P. Chan

If I m not mistaken, he did say he had hoped to show others that impossible dreams could be achieved. I also remember once he encouraged a Filipino (PBA) player never to give up his hope of playing in the NBA. So yes, I believe he is fully cognizant of his impact on others and how he can lead by example.

Regardless, even though he more than once has said he is playing the game for God, not others, I interpret that statement as his belief that God has guided him to this calling so he can inspire others.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

It makes Laker the affiliate of Kobe. That’s horrible coaching.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Players of value plan to leave. What’s left would be the key players of another horrible season.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The poll of choosing JC or JL to start for Lakers is an insult to Jeremy. Jeremy is a legit NBA PG and JC is just a rookie. Byron’s choice of JC to start is not based on merits and talents. He has a crooked mind trying to drive Lin out of the team. I have never seen any worse coach in postgame interviews and in games of course.

Of course, over 75% of fans chose Jeremy to be the starter!

i hate BS! ugh, the hate is real. I went to the lakers/hawks game recently, sat by the bench area, and honestly, BS’s head was so oily, i wanted to blot it out with some oil paper.

  • John Lee

Oddly, I don’t recall seeing KHuang mention anything regarding said tie. Only that he doesn’t think much of Pops, saying he’s overly reliant on Duncan, and that Pops wouldn’t be much without Timmy. Not to the point of being Phil Jackson (who won’t coach a team unless it’s star-filled), but KHuang does not exactly put Pops on a pedestal.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Me too!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The organization is sick to conduct this survey.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Steve Bash needs Mike D’Antonio to succeed.

I thought I hated McHale last season but Scott doesn’t even compare. Scott is so much worse.

  • Brent Yen

I would rather have Nash….much better shooter.

  • HY C

what do you think of this dream I keep on having recently?
JLin goes to Spurs and becomes the real floor general (if Ed can go along and groomed by / learn from Duncan, that will be even better)
-> then win a few rings
    -> retire as a Spur
-> become next Pop of that team

  • Acbc

Please don’t insult this site by saying something so ridiculous. NASH made a name for himself with Don Nelson and the Mavs already before hooking up with MDA. He would have been a HOF player either way. NASH was a great shooter, something Lin still needs to continue to improve on. Nash also proved himself on the international, stage without mda.

  • FrankW

No, its a top coat using the highest quality carnauba car wax polished for hours for the

  • FrankW

And Santa Clare U is 14 miles from where Jeremy Lin grew up.

  • BobbyH

Next time, I can give you a cyber back pat.

  • Filler-up

You say the same thing others say about Lin. No need for the hate on the best player Canada has ever produced.

  • Acbc

Nash had at least 4 years of 50/40/90 shooting. Let’s not tear others down just because we hate how Lin’s treated. Nash was booed by fans in Phoenix when thye drafted him, he was booed mercilessly in Dallas when he was traded. Nash won the fans over by the time he was traded away by Cuban. Nash didn’t face the same hate Lin has for sure, but he understands first hand the hate.

  • Brent Yen

I know….Just saying compare Nash to Ellington is just far off. Also the notion where Nash was only great because of MDA is wrong IMO. Lots of ppl would take Parker’s career over Nash’s. But I am not one of them. They are equally impressive tho in different ways.

Posted: Fri Mar 20, 2015 1:55 pm Post subject: I am a longtime Jeremy Lin fan since before he joined the NBA. I’m not asian (I’m middle eastern ethnically), and was into him because he played at an amazing level of basketball, despite everybody always hating on him. It’s been awesome seeing his career soar after a chance game in the NBA summer league 4 years ago (where he outplayed John Wall, the then #1 draft pick), and then again a year and a bit later when he had his “Linsanity” thing take place in NYC.

I haven’t really chimed in on these forums often because there’s plenty of Lin fans here continually posting (often to the dismay of longer term Laker fans). This post was pretty respectfully written and posed a question, so I thought I’d write a lengthy response on my opinions. It’s lengthy, but I hope you’ll take the time to read it. I’m not trying to instigate anything – just sharing my honest opinion.

Jeremy, from my view (as somebody who has watched most of his games and really seen him through his downs and ups), has been treated terribly by most people in the NBA. Most of his coaches & GMs have, in my opinion, written him off immediately simply because of his race. I know that this is a big claim to make, but it is backed by years of the same exact situations happening again and again. These situations can mainly be summarized as:

    1) Jeremy plays really well.
    2) Those games are completely ignored as “a fluke”.

(This is contrasted to what most PGs of the same competency experience – who happen to be largely black or white:

    1) X plays really well.
    2) When a bad game happens, it’s labeled a “bad game” – not “the good games are a fluke”. )

This happened when he was in high school (led his team to the division championship, absolutely no scholarship offers outside of Harvard). This happened when he was in college (played so well that other coaches of top schools praised him and was one of the finalists for the Bob Cousy Point Guard award – this is when I started following him), and was largely ignored by the NBA. He luckily had a breakout game against John Wall & the Wizards and got picked up. He jumped around and had another breakout at NYK, but the Knicks decided that his skill was a fluke, and completely ignored him.

In Houston is where it became especially apparent that Jeremy had a unique battle that most players don’t. There was this cycle that took place where Jeremy (who was playing very well for the most part, even after Harden joined the team) would be benched as soon as he made one or two mistakes. This would be fine, except that it didn’t happen for any other players. Other players were allowed to play through their mistakes, but not Jeremy. This happened time and time again, and of course (since we’re all human), it had a negative effect on Jeremy’s confidence. It’s hard to keep up mental toughness when you can tell that you’re being treated in a manner that nobody else is.

Conversely, when the team was really (bleep), Jeremy was brought back in to try and rectify the situation. Why? Because Jeremy has a team-first approach – he tries to get guys going, and tries to play proper basketball (the way that the Spurs or Hawks play the game). Often times, the Rockets made huge runs from behind when Jeremy came in, because Jeremy was actually a capable player.

What was most difficult for me to see as a fan (beyond him being mistreated this way) was the way McHale treated him in the press conferences. Any time the team lost and Jeremy had made some kind of mistake in the 4th quarter, McHale specifically pointed Jeremy out and used him as a scapegoat. Seriously. More or less every single time. Any time that the team won and Jeremy had something to do with it (orchestrating a beautiful offense, setting people up, having a breakout scoring night, etc.) – there was nary a peep about Jeremy. Just about the team as a whole.

As time went on in Houston, Jeremy got replaced as a starter by Beverly (despite the fact that Jeremy’s stats were significantly better than Beverly, and despite the fact that their defense was roughly on par – at least according to statistics). Despite coming off the bench and playing less minutes, Jeremy still had better stats. McHale began continually praising Beverly, while making negative remarks about Jeremy. This was his daily situation in Houston. He was playing behind a statistically inferior player, and to me – the only reason for this is racism.

When this past summer came around, I was ecstatic. Jeremy was going to be going to the Lakers, where the GM (unlike Houston’s GM) was singing praises about Lin. Lin himself was smiling in all his videos & photos for the first time in a while, and it was clear that he was happy to get out of Houston. However, as the season began, it was pretty clear that Scott was not any better than McHale. The situation to me, as a fan, seems more or less the same. Scott refused to start Jeremy in the off season (choosing a 3rd stringer scrub instead), and it took Magic publicly tweeting about it to get Scott to start Lin.

Even then, Scott would not let Jeremy play his game at all. Scott had an amazing pick-n-roll player who was team-oriented and had beautiful chemistry with Ed Davis… so what does he do? Never let Jeremy & Ed play together. (smart move coach). On top of that, he too did not let Jeremy play through his mistakes.

The similarities with Houston continued… Jeremy became the backup pointguard to a 3rd stringer. Jeremy was playing far less minutes than Price, while simultaneously putting together a far better stat sheet. Yes – Jeremy was upset about this. How could he not be? He was coming off the bench when it was clear to a) anybody watching, and b) anybody looking at statistics that this should not have been the case. On top of that, Scott was singing praises of his “head of the snake”, repeating the exact same stuff that McHale was saying about Beverly (this guy is a defensive genius, ladidadida). This was used as an excuse to have Jeremy come off the bench, despite the fact that Price really wasn’t that much better than Jeremy defensively (again – statistics, not eye test). With Scott it was so terrible that people here on this very forum that are not Jeremy fans were making fun of him and his stupidity.

With Clarkson, this is less of an issue, as Clarkson is both doing well & is part of the Lakers future plans. However, I don’t think Jeremy is upset that he is coming off the bench, so much as he is just upset with how terribly he has been treated in his time in the NBA. He was expecting his time at the Lakers to be the first time where he wouldn’t be dealing with racism from his team, but that just never panned out.

Jeremy has long put his teams above himself. He has done every single thing that every coach of his has asked of him, even when he knows it makes no sense. Jeremy knows it makes no sense not to utilize your players for their strengths, but has still done everything that Scott has asked of him. Jeremy could have in his time at the Lakers or Houston come out publicly and complained about how he has been treated (like many other players in the NBA do), but he has not. He’s been respectful of his coaches & teams, despite having a much better case for complaining than almost any other player that has ever complained.

So Lakerpark – that is my long-winded answer to you. Because he is (in some capacity) bottling all his (inevitable) resentment inside himself, he will appear to be unhappy when on the bench. I can’t imagine what kind of battle might be going on in his mind. Except for D’antoni, he never had a coach in the NBA who believed in him. He’s only had coaches that count his successes as flukes, and write him off completely.

Next year, I personally am 99.99999% sure (because you can never be 100% sure) that he will go to a team based entirely off their coach. He is not after money. He is after a championship. And he knows that the only win that he can make that happen is to play for a team that is team-oriented, and for a coach that is team-oriented and objective. He will play for a coach who knows how to take advantage of his players’ strengths, and for a coach who doesn’t care what race he is. And when this happens, his team will flourish – because Jeremy puts his team first before himself. That is how a team of scrubs in NYK had an amazing run, beating some of the top teams in the NBA. That is how a team of scrubs in Houston also played some of the best team basketball that I’ve seen (by “team of scrubs” I mean the preseason team before Harden joined in Jeremy’s first season at Houston. Check out those games if you want to see what Jeremy’s capable of post-NYK when given the reigns and team-oriented players).

Whew – hope you guys don’t mind the really long post. I haven’t posted here often, but I’ve wanted to share my opinion for quite some time. Again – everything I’ve shared here is my own observations after watching Jeremy’s career for the past 5 years. Hope you are all having a lovely day!!Back to top

Posted: Fri Mar 20, 2015 6:05 am Post subject: Starters vs S(cr)ubsWith all this talk about Ryan Kelly, Sacre, Jeremy Lin etc, it got me thinking…

It is my belief that the good teams have a clear division between the starters and the subs. The starters are clearly a level or two above the subs and the subs know their place.

Part of the problem with the Lakers, whether intentional or not, is that the starters are not clearly better than the subs. And thus they have been completely interchangeable. That’s just a lack of talent.

Maybe it’s just me, but I get a vibe that Jeremy Lin really has a hard time accepting a role off the bench. Almost like he (or maybe his fans) feel he is being disrespected or discriminated against. Clarkson is clearly the Lakers future and is being groomed to be the starting PG, and he has performed well and has shown he deserves the opportunity. It’s not like when Darius Morris was starting, he sucked but the Lakers didn’t have much else to try.

Sacre knows he belongs on the bench and accepts his role and is a great team player cheering his teammates on. And he’s ready to step in when needed.

Kelly doesn’t belong on the bench and probably belongs deep on the bench until he proves otherwise.

I think Ronnie Price fits the role of a good sub by being ready to play and also accepting his role on the bench. But BS created this “competition” that made JLin feel persecuted.

The sub/scrubs play an important part of any team by giving the starters someone to practice against. And scrubs shouldn’t be taking up too much of the cap space.

I think, like others here have said, that Jeremy Lin would make a great back up point guard for the Lakers in the future if he would accept a reasonable contract.

Boozer had a problem at first going to the bench but seemed to accept it soon after. We never heard Boozer fans complain either.

I personally liked the way Jordan Farmar played off the bench last season…at least when he was healthy. I wonder what happened to him this year on the Clippers that he didn’t do so well.

Not like I care about haters hating on us (Lin fans), but I think this is the reason why they hate us.

  • Brent Yen

Nah…this is just the excuses they hate us. Haters hate

  • linspiredinla
  • LOFsRWack

FYI to others: Laker Kurt Rambis also went to Santa Clara.

  • FrankW

If you dream, might as well dream BIG like HY C – to infinity and beyond, Jeremy Lin shall not be upper bounded.

I hope Jeremy lands in a better place next season.

  • Brent Yen

    Of course….;-)

  • Wandais38 .

    I love this picture.

  • linspiredinla

    Me too. Love that smile!!!

  • orLinaryjoe

That was a great calm post from fan. For sure some bias from NBA on what a “NBA” star is supposed to look like.

  • Wandais38 .

Jeremy’s smile melts my heart. Hopefully we get to see more of it next season.

  • FrankW

Status day-to-day, will Lin play tonight?

I’m sorry but I find the lakers are grooming clarkson as there future thing halarious. Kids has zero pg skills. Has shown flashes but all those passes are on fast breaks. Doubt he could do that In a haif court offense. Also clarkson has taken a ton on shots to average his 14 ppg while starting. He has potential as maybe a slightly above average sg. But he better get better at defense. Lakers will get rando luckily so Lin can go to the macs. I’m getting tired of anyone but Lin montra out there. Look at bev now. Look at Felton now. A year from now look at clarkson now. I will not even mention price. Lin has to keep developing which he is. It will pay off. Stay calm. Make your choice

  • BobbyH

The poster made a good point. Lin will choose the next team off who the coach is.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

There are just too many empty seats for the liking.

  • FrankW

Any estimate what percentage of empty seats?
Is that why Stu was so nice, sponsors and Lin fans pulling out?

  • 1mtoldman

imo the clarkson as future is just a cover story to excuse tanking and not playing lin; that in fact the lakers as long as kobe is there would never ever ever have clarkson playing with kobe because clarkson: takes shots! and controls the ball. kobe would never accept that.

again as i said the clarkson as future is just a false flag to divert attention from tanking. ie.: we
re not tanking were developing players.

i expect clarkson will be gone at least by trade deadline next year. the only laker scenario for him i could see would be as a backup 2 guard (if the seemed rift between young and scott proved real and continuous and he (young) was removed from the picture one way or another).

  • adele

Like your comments and observation. They reflect my own thoughts of how Lin is being treated and your views on the coaches and the teams. Keep it up. Will always rwad your blogs long or short.

  • wandertheglobe

    From what I saw, it’s ~$2600 USD.

  • Sophie Paris

    Means I’ll watch then

  • wandertheglobe

That’s only $520,000 USD based on $2600 price point. Wonder how much Lin got paid for the endorsement.

  • joyce ward

    I totally agree

  • linspiredinla
  • I think it was only 1 time that KHuang raised the Larry Brown suspected racism toward Lin might’ve influenced Pop’s thinking.
But yeah may KHuang will come visit to share his thoughts, if Lin does end up visiting Spurs for the FA.
I kinda hope Lin will at least get the invite to work out with them even if he doesn’t go there.

  • Sophie Paris

    Fail haha

  • blubell
  • Brent Yen

    Must be talking about Kobe…lol

  • real-dsb

was Lin a ball watcher previously? I didn’t think so

  • Maybe Phil thought about the 2015 Kobe and did a complete 180 on him :]

  • Brent Yen

    totally possible….LOL

  • Brent Yen

He did….many times. When in HOU

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Byron Scott doesn’t want Jeremy to shine and the simplest way is to cut his play time and take his best teammates away from him on the court. He did take away Ed Davis and Carlos Boozer and inserted Jordon Hill and Ryan Kelly. Until Jeremy got comfortable with Kelly and Hill, he called up Jabrai Brown. Of course, Jeremy would make more turnovers passing to someone he’s not familiar with. Also Jeremy will have to take less shots if his court partner fires at will.

The main issue is Byron gives up on winning more games once Kobe was sidelined. The masterpieces is Byron brings up Jabrai Brown from the D-league to burden Jeremy after Jeremy started his Linsanity Prime since ASG. We have people witnessed Jeremy barking orders to Jabrai Brown for court spacing. Of course, everything made Jeremy difficult in taking more shots and making more assists Byron had tried; not to mention the constant shaking up of the team rosters.

Shackling at the highest level is to take away the factors that make Jeremy successful such as the PnR plays. Now it is the intensive practice before games. I don’t think Jeremy could make good shots with tired legs. After Jeremy overcomes the road blocks set up by Byron, he would try something new. Just 15 more games, Jeremy would get away from the evil coach. sigh! Don’t come back, Jeremy, as long as Byron Scott is the coach.

  • Dan Cohen

    just stop it.

  • PHI Game Thread is now open
    http://www.jlinportal.com/g68-phi-lal-game-thread/

This would be the game we all would want Jeremy to prioritize his health by resting his back to prevent further injury.

If he does play, let’s hope and pray that he will be safe. Health is #1 at this point of the season preparing for the Free Agency.

Especially this is a “Must-Tank” game vs #1 worst NBA team, 76ers

Jeremy has nothing else to prove as he’s shown to many NBA GMs what he was capable when running Pick-and-Roll for 6-7 game stretch after the All-Star Break.

    Go Jeremy!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Season ticket holder may not show up. That won’t be reflected in the ticket sales. But again, it explains the Linsanity promotion to lure ticket holders back to the seats. The FO may even give out tickets for charity too. Yes, who wouldn’t go to watch Jeremy play if it’s free. ESPN shows that there are 394 tickets available now. But I think there should be more.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    A piece of art.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I appreciate that you spend your time writing Jeremy’s experience in such details. Only true Lin fans would do that. Words can express my appreciation.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I really don’t think that Jeremy should go to the Spurs. I hope Lin will go to a rebuilding team and Lin will help to take them to a championship or help them to be a contender.

  • Dan Cohen

He won’t come to this site anymore. He told me why he disappeared here .. he was asked to leave by some I think female moderator here. I don’t know who.. but I also have been banned by a female mod here who abuses her power too who might not know much about bball other than lin .. (and a few there who have valid bball knowledge also), so I suggest you really monitor the mods themselves here closely also. If you can’t take the heat in a discussion, you can’t just ban them. Even if you override the bans yourself after some bozo mods bans someone, it might be too late as this site will lose and I know already lost some people who knows a ton of bballl to bring neutral and sometimes unbias lin insight. That’s why real good discussions still exist on the other site. This site has been label by many others as lin heaven only..and only bias in favor of lin and lack freedom of expression. Only problem with that site is real troll takes a while to get rid off while here, it’s gone in one zap which can be good and bad because anyone can label anyone as a troll by accusation. But you have been cool and fair as a mod; I give credit where it’s due.

  • Rookie75094

I am a huge Jlin fan… but I want to be fair to the poster of the post from Laker Ground…. I just repost this from LG and I DID NOTwrite this post … sorry for any misunderstanding…and yes I love reading the post as well…that is why I want to share it with everyone here.

Nash was good but not great until he was finally coached by MDA. He was traded twice before reaching his MVP stardom. If he was considered a franchise player, he wouldn’t be traded. I don’t think I insult this site. Your accusation is a disappointing overstatement. Steve Nash without MDA would be less than Monta Ellis who has been very consistent in his performance but he had been given up by so many teams. Monta Ellis deserves to be in the ASG but how many times he has been invited?

Mark Cuban had said,” “… you know Steve’s a great guy and I love him to death, but why couldn’t he play like an MVP for us?”

His years in Phoenix with MDA are his best years. Everything pales in comparison. Without MDA, he wouldn’t be mentioned at all. He would just be Monta Ellis, certainly not a future hall of famer in NBA. Is Monta Ellis going to be a hall of famer? I doubt it. Will Nash be a hall of famer without DMA? I seriously doubt it? Steve Nash will just be traded away and be a journey man after 30s.

Lets’ agree to disagree. Don’t respond to my posting from now on. We’re finished. I don’t want to insult this site and I absolutely hate to be insulted by you.

  • linspiredinla
  • thank you, it is a difficult balance to walk whether to under-moderate or over-moderate.

I believe things might get said in the heat of the moment during discussion but as long as people are willing to forgive mistakes, posters and mods can get along quite well. Everyone makes mistakes so that would be my hope.

I really appreciate your feedback. I think mods and posters adjust quite a bit about the expectations at this site. We welcome opposite opinions as long as we attack the issues, and respect the posters. At times it’s definitely not easy to distinguish resulting in miscommunication and flared tempers. So I’ll continue to work with the mods and posters to improve in realizing our vision.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

When he’s given a chance, he will prosper. Players need the chance. It’s God’s will for Lin to Linsanity for his famous 7 games sweep.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I love the scenario. They’re joyful and I share with them the happiness of beating Celtics. Did anyone mention that Wesley Johnson made 9-11 shots for 22 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 3 TOs with +15 in +/-, even higher than Jeremy Lin in that category.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Nash took them to NCAA and won games until they met Mississippi State, then years after, they were defeated by Kansas after uspsetting Maryland.
    They retired his jersey.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Nash was named the conference player of the year just like Rambis.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

It is in The WCC; a fairly weak conference then.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Steve Nash played above his career average ever since he was coached by MDA.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Credit to you the same or else I will never be able to read this. It really makes little difference. Of course I THANK you the writer as well.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

How many players who could reach another prime after 30s?
Almost none. Most of them would just be moved around in the league like Ellington.

  • John Lee

Ah I see, you’re only looking at PPG. Never mind that Nash’s AST went up by 1.5 compared to 02-03 and FG% and FT% went up slightly, some dip that was. I don’t get this sudden “Nash can only play for D’Antoni” non-sense. Give credit where it’s due.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

After the season 2003-04, the assists went up to 11.4 and maintained over 8.8 (the season that went up by 1.5)
In fact, there was a general trend of dipping since 2001-2 in FG%, 3P%, rebounds and points per game.
After that season, Steve Nash begins to improve consistently over a span of 3 more season.before slowly declining again. MDA was replaced by Terry Porter before 2008–09 season.

  • John Lee

While there’s no denying that D’Antoni’s system is PG-optimized (after all, a below average Kendall Marshall was cranking out insane AST numbers while under Mike), the rhetoric that Nash is only any good while playing for him does not hold any water. Unless that is, you hold Nash and Marshall in the same regard.

Yes, Nash was more efficient being coached by D’Antoni…as would ANY OTHER PG in the league. But he can stand alone just fine without him.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Nash almost won MVP three times in a row. In 2007 he was second in votes.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Exactly! BS tried to slow down his players from winning more games with tired legs in the context of practices.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    I can’t stop worrying for Jeremy’s sake.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Rightfully so. Playing with Kobe and for Scott must be the dark age in his career.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The coach who makes Linsanity possible.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    I sincerely hope he’s 100%.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Without MDA, Nash’s career will not be revived to a new prime. Of course, he would be fine but he couldn’t possibly play till 40s with 2 and almost 3 MVPs in a row. Dallas would use him less and not more in his days.

  • real-dsb

well, then all I can say is that Lin must have picked up ball watching from the best ball watcher in the game!
