7th Game vs Knicks after 2012 season as counted by Lin himself =)

  • Brent Yen

    4th? hehe

  • MoominFloren

haha my first first post :)) now i can go to bed Zzzz

  • cali7

This is one of the games where they changed the schedule not to air it nationally right?

  • Brent Yen

Will you go to the game again?

  • cali7

    Unfortunately no.

  • Dan Cohen

should air it anyways… the battle of the cellar ranks – still entertainment..

If you are somewhere in the middle and not in the playoffs.. that’s boring..but who sucs more… that’s interesting!

“Lakers guard Jeremy Lin and forward Wesley Johnson will play in Thursday’s game against the New York Knicks (12-51) at Staples Center despite missing Wednesday’s practice because of different injuries.

But the ailments to Lin (thigh contusion) and Johnson (calf) healed enough to go through Thursday’s morning shootaround.”

  • Charlie S

Do we know how JLin got injured?

  • CJSHYY

I hope so but I don’t think BS wants to win this one?! So….

  • JJ Hui

I am the the second lady!!! This is fun and silly at the same time!!! LOL!

  • Rick Johnson

Got kneed to the thigh driving to the basket.

  • Dan Ang

18th….couldn’t help it. Count…the word of the day.

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • CJSHYY

But I really think this SG it’s to take the min from Ellington not Lin bc right now only 2 PGs in the team. Ellington was replace Young & played long min ….

  • CJSHYY
  • JoeTeam

Last … last shall be first.

  • Brent Yen

Frozen is gonna have a sequel….let’s hope Lin’s bad minute/situation does not.

  • Rick Johnson

Yes, losing to a bottom 5 team is too tempting to preserve the tanking.

  • linspiredinla
  • TTNN
  • JoeTeam

great, that spin move ppl said he didn’t have …

  • TTNN

yeah, Lin was the same age as JC then. And surprised Laker fans are so excited about JC now, and he is no comparison with Lin then.

  • Rick Johnson

They were trying to hype up Price too and we see where that went.

  • CJSHYY

That’s hype from BS & Kobe to prevent Lin back to starting lineup & signs w Lakers. Never mind. Once Lin is not a Lakers. JC will be just like PB in HOU now.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

It’s the media inflation just like Megan Fox in Hollywood years back.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Poor Clarkson as he’s being used by BS and Kobe.

  • CJSHYY

He is just one of the tools they used to stop Lin in Lakers. First it’s Price now it’s JC.

  • Arsenium12 .

Here is Lin doing a “spin move” in the 2010 Summer League, playing against John Wall. The commentators are Joel Myers, who I think does the Pelicans broadcasts, and Chris Webber :

  • TTNN
  • Brent Yen

“Lin graduated with a 3.1 GPA in Economics from Harvard University. A 3.1 GPA may not be that impressive at many schools, but Harvard is not many schools. Had Lin played for someone like Cal, he would have been able to graduate University of Kentucky with a double major in Economics and Quantum Physics in about 8 weeks just by taking online classes.”————LOLOLOLOL

I know this is also stereo typing, but really funny.

  • TTNN

    Yeah, that’s funny.

Also so many Harvard grad athletes were from Economics…. And only Lin got this treatment, it is funny.

  • CJSHYY

Haha! I think it’s not easy bc I check all other Harvard graduated they didn’t show their GPA… must be worst than 3.1. LOL!

  • JoeTeam

    Whut?

3.1 in economics is just over a B average.

For the record, the Cal Econ/Bus Ad/Acctg program is really hard to get into. Had Lin played for Cal and majored in Econ, it would be fun to compare that rigor to what Morey had as CS (I think) major at Northwestern, if only just to compare Lin to a ‘genius’.

  • JoeTeam

no rookie can do Linsanity, we’ve got that booked thankfully. Only thing would be, will Lin turn out to be an Anthony Davis in a couple of more years, given color of delays.

  • Arsenium12 .

By playing for “Cal,” I think he meant John Calipari at Kentucky.

  • Rick Johnson

Wish he would do that spin move again.

  • Brent Yen

He did once in BOS game, did he not? fouled tho..

  • JoeTeam

Call me a farm boy who just fell off a truck, lol. Sorry.

  • Brent Yen

They both become much better now….

  • Rick Johnson

Really? The recent BOS game on the Lakers?

  • JoeTeam

“Oh, no, ref don’t you do that!” Webber nice …

  • JoeTeam

Me too … I think he only goes flashy when he’s having fun. Right now it’s just the basics and some moments of fun.

  • JoeTeam

The anointed and the underdog, both fun to watch. But Underdog is more fun … here he is calling out the play:

  • grover chang

Gentleman B average. I wonder if mama Lin is happy with that.

  • Rick Johnson

You’d have as good a chance of getting Obama’s GPA as getting Hillary’s emails on her private server.

  • Grace Nsns

any update on that Tag Heuer watch stuff? we got shanghaied I guess.

  • Rick Johnson

Hopefully it’s the same thing Kobe is doing.

    https://twitter.com/KevinDing/status/576062292262977536

  • Yascar

It’s funny. They haven’t launched him as a new brand ambassador but he’s listed as one of their athletes in another press release.

  • linspiredinla

I don’t see his name in the link?

  • linspiredinla
  • takemeback2reaganyears

Why would anyone wants to do that? He’s going to be free agent anyway?

  • Rick Johnson

It says Nash wanted to retire but didn’t so the Lakers could get something for him. I’m hoping Kobe wants to retire but hasn’t announced it yet either.

  • Yascar

Excerpt: The Olympic Gold Medalist, Vezina Trophy winner and New York Rangers’ all-time wins leader joins other great TAG Heuer sporting celebrities — Cristiano Ronaldo, Maria Sharapova, Kei Nishikori, Jenson Button, Jeremy Lin, Sebastien Ogier, and Marlou van Rhijn among them — in spreading the Swiss watchmaker’s legendary message #DontCrackUnderPressur

  • Yascar

He’s named just after Jenson Button.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I mean why would anyone want to give up pick or player for free agent nash?

  • TTNN

exactly, I don’t get why Laker don’t just retire him and same some money. They end up with nothing.

  • Rick Johnson

“Why is his story so inspiring? Because, like TAG Heuer, he pays no attention to naysayers. He refuses limits. He never quits. He never cracks under pressure.”

  • takemeback2reaganyears

They can’t. Only nash can announce retirement himself.

  • Rick Johnson

They don’t save money, they have to pay him his full pay for the year it’s guaranteed. Perhaps they were hoping Raptors or Suns would want him for a farewell symbolic stint or just filler in a trade. If Kobe, announces retirement now I don’t think he will get all his $25mil but if he tries and starts practice then says he’s too injured to play he will get all $25mil like Nash. So even if he planned to retire he wouldn’t announce it now.

  • leeda harun

    so true..:)

  • Brent Yen

Let put it this way, he is taking away Lin’s SG minutes.

  • cali7

Makes me remember lin’s interest in watches with shump

  • CJSHYY

He is Athlete & from Harvard. That’s good enough.

  • lleepar

Is #15 (cropped from the team picture) Jabari Brown?

  • Chipdip

Lin is the only happy guard?

  • Rick Johnson

I hope JLin doesn’t go back to NY to the benefit of Dolan.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! The formal one I didn’t see him.

  • CJSHYY

Oh! Ya! That can happen w BS….

  • Sophie Paris

    Cool pic 🙂

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin now is further and further out.

  • Briiick

Yeah, there is a competition for fans and eyeballs between Knicks and Nets.

  • CJSHYY

I think Lin did it on purpose bc he didn’t want to near Kobe & BS… LOL! Just like last year in Rox stay away from Harden & Mc.

  • TTNN

PS ed. Look at the left shoulder for Brown.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Nobody would be happy if you’re close to Kobe.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    LoL

  • Chipdip

You are right… not eve Kobe himself… take a look at him!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Boston would prove you wrong.
They’re kicking your rear end now.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The mere sight of Kobe takes all the fun out of a person.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

The best part is he’s smiling.

  • Chipdip

and the painful face on Clarkson… boy… more teaching received from Kobe??

  • chan c

Look at that smile by Lin 🙂

  • Arsenium12 .
  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin to Clarkson: good luck with Kobe’s bullzheets, I’ve been there.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

If this BS gives Lin limit minutes or DNP-CD, Lin needs to play the injury card.

  • sport

Lin’s not going back to Knicks with Melo still there. Phil really just eye candy to please the Knick fans.

  • Charlie S

I’d like to see just how BS evaluates players and talent

  • Charlie S

Throw money at the problem! It fixes things! MORE!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He doesn’t, he asks Kobe how he wants it. .

  • FrankW

Mama Lin is happy with the paycheck.

  • sport

TagHeuer seems very supportive of athletes with Asian descent Tiger Woods, and now Jeremy Lin!

  • 1mtoldman

rudy gobert’s already put up a double double on houston in ten minutes. tell sophie.

  • sport

Wow so many Harvard athletes graduated from economics degree! Even some Princeton majored in Economics. I guess their many goal was to learn how to invest and manage their money 🙂

  • sport

Whatever happened to JLin’s spin move? He hasn’t do so many of his moves since he left Knicks including floaters and the 360 spin move on fisher, no dunks either.

  • Rick Johnson
  • Rick Johnson

Just covering up for his incompetent coaching and crappy record.

  • Arsenium12 .
  • Sophie Paris

I’m there ^^ He’s good gotta kill the rox ;p

  • Briiick

Haren said DH12 didn’t matter in the regular season; DH12 said Haren won’t matter in the playoff. I said Rox won’t matter after Lin left.

  • 1mtoldman

18/14 at half time 18 rebounds 14 points in 20 minutes. 3 blocks to from “the stifle tower”. utah up 10 over the houston hardens.

  • blubell
  • 1mtoldman

yeah 2 bad davis whos the best player on the team since the asg gets even less time on the floor than lin.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Hope they’ll be together somewhere next. Just look at the minutes he got last game, a total disgrace.

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Solving Knicks, Lakers woes
    http://m.espn.go.com/nba/story?storyId=12468972
Chad Ford: The obvious major liability is Kobe Bryant’s $25 million salary next season. That is a massive hit on our cap room, which means that we’ll have about $18 million to play with. It could be $9 million more if we decline Jordan Hill’s team option. Our next highest-paid player is Nick Young at $5.2 million, and he hasn’t had a great season for that price.

  • sport

Tarik Black really more athletic and good on offensive glass than Ed Davis, really deserves to be a starter.

  • sport

LOL Clarkson with 2 fouls and Lin comes in!! Thank You refs!!

  • blubell

    Linsanity!!

  • Job713

    Lin in early…

  • leeda harun

    lets go jeremy

  • sport

Wow Hill those jumpers, 2 assists for Lin!

  • sport

Stu that only block last game was Lin’s no Hill!! The NBA better give that block stat back those bias score keepers robbing Lin’s stats again!

  • Charlie S

Is it just me, or does Jordan Hill not acknowledge JLin when JLin feeds him the ball? I see Boozer and Davis thank JLin whenever they get fed.

  • blubell

That turnaround fadeaway is becoming one of Jeremy’s signature moves…

  • Solo

7 – 0 run, once Jeremy stepped onto the court

  • sport

He hasn’t done that in last few games, nice to see it and in the middle of lane instead of left or right side of the court.

  • Charlie S

    Another tool in his toolkit!

  • 1mtoldman

that explains why lin has played 1 minute and already is a plus 7 best on team.

  • Job713

Stu with the unenthusiastic “what did lin do last game that was interesting?”
    Man, he doesn’t like Lin.

  • Rene#17

Looking exciting for JLin’s fans. Come on JLin!!!!

  • Charlie S

He gave BS a win for his 1000th game

  • 1mtoldman

because of early fouls on jc

  • sport

That only block which was Stu-pid was raving about for Hill that was suppose to be Lin’s!!

  • blubell

    yay for extra PT!

  • Charlie S

Johnson couldn’t give JLin that assist lol

  • blubell

    Darn you Wes.. blown assist!

  • blubell

    Signature reverse layup!

  • Charlie S

Too bad there’s no stat on blown assists

  • sport

Tarik really works hard at the rim compared to lazy Hill!

  • Rene#17

JLin with a reverse layup. He is driving.

  • Charlie S

Tarik stats seem to get a nice boost when JLin is playing with him

  • sport

Against this sorry Knicks team he better!

  • orLinaryjoe

    4pts in 3 mins!

  • LAJane

    Davis in. Dynamic duo

  • Rene#17

Ed is in, let’s see some LED!

  • Charlie S

Fun fact: Ed Davis has the best FG % since the All Star break

  • Alaingrvis

Obvious goaltending wow no assist there

  • blubell

    Blind refs…

  • sport

That boozer shot was going in should be goal tend!

  • sport

Are they going to review that?

  • blubell
  • sport

Best FG% in the entire league at that!!

  • golfhacker

Violet Palmer was right there too.

  • stam

2 assists robbed from lin already…

  • Promo Sports World

Jeremy got juice in his legs tonight

  • blubell

That explains a lot of things…

  • John Lee

    Ah, that explains it.

  • sport

    Well most refs are blind.

  • stam

That was an awesome no look pass man

  • blubell

Thanks to Wes and Violet Palmer.

  • LAJane

Pretty no-look pass. Too bad no dime, but glad Black was alert to finish.

  • blubell

    Tarik is playing well tonight.

  • John Lee

I think he was pushed, no call.

  • Rene#17

    Lin assist to Jabar.

  • Rick Johnson

Violet Palmer was looking right at that ball when the knick knocked it out through the net. So incompetent

  • blubell

Jabari Brown give Jeremy an assist… good job 🙂

  • Promo Sports World

    Kobe face is annoying lol

  • blubell

good. you’re watching NYK feed 🙂

  • LAJane

    Don’t look. Save your stomach.

  • John Lee

    You can remove “face”.

  • Rene#17

Lin for FT. Saw ugly Kobe’s face.

  • Promo Sports World

    Long suffering Knick fan here

  • John Lee

Please do not discriminate against the blind.

  • LAJane

Looks like his FT’s are back on track.

  • Charlie S

Bill: “Kobe lending his support to BS and the players” … in what way?

  • Rene#17

Oh my Kelly. .. Throws almost over the board.

  • stam

Support to BS to tank… i don’t know about the players…

  • John Lee

    …in a party-pooping kind of way.

  • Promo Sports World

    Jeremy getting assists buckets etc

  • Rene#17

    Lin assist to Booooz.

  • sport

Thank You Boozer, 4th assists for Lin!

  • Charlie S

4 assists for JLin. So he’s on pace for 16 right =)

  • blubell

6 pts and 4 asts in 7 minutes

  • sport

    LOL My thoughts exactly!!

  • Brent Yen

Two team in d league mode….perfect for lin to pad stat..

  • Grace Nsns

    Yay!

  • Briiick

When Lin is the floor general, every hard working player is happy !

  • stam

if that goal tend was called correctly 5 assists.

  • blubell
  • stam

    yeah cause he passes lol

  • golfhacker

    And 24 pts!

  • Charlie S

    On pace for… LINSANITY

  • John Lee

In other good news, Rox trailing Jazz by 19 with 5:28 left in 4th.

  • Brewkowski

They did credit Lin for the block. Only block from Lakers that game.

  • LAJane

So Jeremy played pretty much the whole first. Clarkson got himself in foul trouble pretty fast…hope J get big minutes this game.

  • sport

Is there a chance Rox will miss playoff? If so I’d celebrate with fireworks!

  • Promo Sports World

16 and 8 would be great

  • sport

Lin with 6 pts and 4 assists in less than 8 minutes now that’s efficient!!

  • Job713

should have been 6 and 6!

  • stam

was that due to lin’s defense i didn’t see it. i thought he was getting subbed out.

  • Charlie S

No, he’s missed a shot, has a TO, 2 blown assists. Clearly not good enough =)

  • blubell

You wanna know if Knicks will sign Lin? Knicks announcers barely mention Lin, even Frazier, cause they've been told not to. Pitiful.— Nathan Gottlieb (@zukovka)

  • John Lee

Not likely, but here’s wishing that they drop out of top four and lose home court advantage, setting up for their first round out.

  • sport

    Jabari Brown’s shot made Lin’s 5th assists!

  • Charlie S

JLin feeds Davis. nom nom nom

  • stam

Yo that was a nice pass for real..

  • blubell

Poor Clyde, one of fairest announcers, not allowed to talk about Lin. Well, Clyde, Lin is posting and toasting and I'm wide awake!— Nathan Gottlieb (@zukovka)

  • golfhacker

Man, I sure wish Lin and Davis end up together next year.

  • CJSHYY

Not surprised… that’s the way it is…since Lin traded to Lakers.

  • IsabeliJane*17

Immature of Knicks if you ask me, like a bitter ex-boyfriend or girlfriend

  • Alaingrvis

Davis has a contract with the lakers

  • CJSHYY

    Haha! I think so…

  • Charlie S

He plans to opt out. Hoping for a bigger long term contract

  • blubell

    So many uncalled fouls…

  • stam

that is so many fouls on lin and they aren’t calling it wtf.

  • sport

    Lin not getting foul calls!!

  • Charlie S

Wow Hardaway Jr. has the hot hand. BS adjustment time? Hah nah

  • joyce ward

Lakers only got $18 million dollars in cap space next season.

  • HeroBallJLIN

Yeah that last block on Lin was a foul. Hit Lin right in the face. Lin should have gotten 2 free throws

  • Alaingrvis

Well he needs to control the ball better there.

  • LAJane

Can’t watch…following play-by-play. Was that turnover the result of an uncalled foul?

  • sport

Davis already said he’s opting out! He and Lin should talk it over and go to the same team together!

  • stam

Yes it was he got hit in the face

  • sport

Lin got to the rim and fouled twice with no call!!!

  • sws94

He got hit in the face, that’s a foul.

  • LAJane

Thx. Just as well I can’t see. Those make my blood boil.

  • HeroBallJLIN

Refs are off today. Everybody in the stadium saw that goal tend. Lin should have gotten the assist and Boozer the 2 points

  • Brent Yen

    Darn it, TOVs are cumulating…

  • stam

there must be money riding on the knicks. this is absolutely ridiculous

  • John Lee

When things don’t make sense, follow the money.

  • blubell

Initial ruling was a Jeremy Lin TO on that layup attempt that he lost control of. It's been changed to a missed FGA now. #Lakers #NBA— Paul Villarreal (@CNM_JLin_Vids)

  • Rene#17

See why Lin not getting the fouls…. Lady ref.

  • LAJane

Clarkson subbing Jeremy. I’m gonna go make (late) dinner.

  • stam

how about 2 free throws lol

  • Rick Johnson

Larkin slapped Lin in the eyes.

  • stam

yeah she has it out for him for real.

  • Brent Yen

    Violet Palmer at work..

  • HeroBallJLIN

I’ll take the missed fga. Better than TOV

  • sport

Should’ve been FTs!!! JLin got fouled twice!!

  • HeroBallJLIN

hahaha I was just thinking that too. Like Lakers are destined to lose this one

  • Brent Yen

    Yeah….I know

  • 1mtoldman

lost 2 assist also to the non called basket interference and a foul on black causing him to miss and requring davis or someone 2 clean up.

  • blubell

    Is Brown pg or sg?

  • Rick Johnson

Going to have to start wearing goggles like Amare.

  • John Lee

Violet Palmer is ALWAYS off, not just TODAY.

  • golfhacker

    There’s goes the lead.

  • Brent Yen

    Sg

  • Alaingrvis

    And there goes the lead

  • Alaingrvis

    Sg

  • John Lee

Jeremy clearly fouled the ball with his face. LOL

  • Rick Johnson

Ya I played it back in slow motion on my DVR no ball direct also to the face/eyes.

  • HeroBallJLIN

yeah she is not a good ref. she does not know how to ref.

  • sport

Hoping Clarkson picks up two more fouls so Lin can come back in.

  • blubell

how tall is he? he looks shorter than Jeremy..

  • John Lee

Nah, he wants to play and will be careful. Just allow opponents to blow past as usual and he won’t pick up any more fouls.

  • blubell

So Jeremy is the only LAL’s pg… true PG.

  • leeda harun

    incompetent ref

  • Brent Yen

Hahaha, NYK is gonna shoot LAL to death?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Stool, shut the he11 up man, azz kizzer.

  • chan c

I’d like for Lin to win this game. It’s against the Knicks eh… 🙂

  • sport

Didn’t see that coming, refs also against Lakers feels like a rigged game.

  • orLinaryjoe

    Homework with kids, lol

  • sport

I’d want Lin to score 20+ pts with the win!

  • blubell

    Watch the KNY feed!

  • John Lee

If it looks like and smells like a rigged game…

  • orLinaryjoe

    Too bad no Melo

  • leeda harun

is BS gonna let Fisher win..lol

  • blubell

    precious family time 🙂

  • chan c

    Yeah! That would be great!

  • HeroBallJLIN

You know Lakers suck when its a close game against Knicks. Every other team in NBA have 20-30 point lead against Knicks.

  • John Lee

    More like corrupt refs.

  • Briiick

That is why I still prefer LAL to Rox. There must be a force in the F/O supporting Lin.

  • blubell

I think they’re just against Jeremy lol.

  • 1mtoldman

3 bad vp no calls ive seen. she was standing right there. smh.

  • 1mtoldman

    2 ways; hardaway and gallaway.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Can’t. :(. Local broadcast.

  • leeda harun

yeah..but will BS let lin closes the game?

  • HeroBallJLIN

Now if Lakers lose to Knicks well, then Lakers are the worst. Probably D league team can beat Lakers.

  • Brewkowski

    Who’s guarding Hardaway?

  • stam

    bench assists = 9, starter assists = 2

  • blubell

Even with Clarkson in foul trouble, Jeremy only played 11 minutes in the first half and Jabari Brown getting PT.

    BS always act like BS.

  • Brent Yen

Of course, that is his function. Just like clarkson. Shooting and take Lin’s PT

  • blubell

  • blubell

    Good luck…

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Hope you meant it. LOL

  • takemeback2reaganyears

So BS let the new rookie play with Lin.

  • blubell

@TheDragon2004 @kianainhi808 When askd during #Linsanity if he evr thought Lin culd ply in NBA, Clyde said no but "Lin made me eat my words"— Jack Nieto (@JackNieto3)

  • John Lee

    Yay, Rox lost by 18. Harden 15pts on 3-13 FG, 0-5 3PT, 9-13 FT.

    Bev marginalized 23 min 9pts 1ast in favor of Corey Brewer 32min 25pts on 10-15 FG 3asts.

  • Hans

Saw the boxscore, was happy. Bev truly exposed. not his fault really, he’s just playing his role. Morey hyped him up over the top.

  • blubell

    I do mean it 🙂

  • IsabeliJane*17

I like it when people sounded sure… then they eat their words back..good dose of falling back to earth lol

  • Byron Scott told the team to play off Hardaway to defend against his driving and passing. Bryon doesn’t know difference between Hardaway junior and Hardaway senior.

  • blubell

Too bad Kobe is in the way.

  • Rene#17

And Bev really believed all that.

  • 1mtoldman

brewer better watch it 2 nites in a row hes outshined the beard. it was brewer remember who put up 50 on the beard last year.

  • Job713

    No tacos tonight

  • blubell

Who is his dad? I know its not Penny Hardaway… his name escapes me…

  • chan c

Is Lin still on the bench? What is happening? lol

  • golfhacker

    Love that ball movement!

  • blubell

But good that he admits it 🙂

  • Lin won Clyde Frazier over. It seems like Clyde is a big fan now, even praising Lin when he plays the Knicks.

  • sport

Poor Johnson was wide open for a 3 for that last shot but Clarkson only always give the to Hill. He’s not a PG at all! why was he ever playing that position? Should be SG!

  • chan c

    coach is clueless…

  • Tim Hardaway senior. You haven’t followed the NBA that long, have you?

  • HeroBallJLIN

Lin with highest +/- with +2, going into 3rd Qtr

  • IsabeliJane*17

It’s still a good “earth back to Clyde” moment. a good “back at ya!” move by Jeremy

  • sport

Surprising how such a bad player could even get in the rising star, PG challenge and actually win while being stuck in the passing lane.

  • chan c

    Is he in now?

  • Brent Yen

That is where the problem is, at least part of it..

  • John Lee

    Jeremy 6pts on 2-4, 5asts +2 in 12min, JC 4pts on 2-6, 0asts -8 in the same amount of PT.

  • leeda harun

    BS is BS

  • Grace Nsns

    +/- of minus 19, lol

  • golfhacker

Since his name is Tim Hardaway Jr., my “guess” is his father is Tim Hardaway! Very good former NBA guard.

  • He’s not bad skill-wise. He’s just not really a playmaking, pass first point guard.

  • blubell

I was a big Lakers fan back when Nick Van Exel was PG 🙂

  • sport

The only skill that scrub has are shooting 3s and fouling people.

  • blubell

    Haha… yeah I just remembered!

  • HeroBallJLIN

right now its half time. Lin was not in at end of 2nd

  • leeda harun

  • blubell

Anyone notice Clarkson only penetrates to score & nvr to create 4 teammates? #FireByronScott #ByronScottSucks— Jack Nieto (@JackNieto3)

  • blubell

Lin continues to ignore halfcourt BS O, pushing ball. Looking energized. No way BS wants to lose to knicks, especially with Jax in house.— Nathan Gottlieb (@zukovka)

  • 1mtoldman

    0 assists in 12 min.

  • HeroBallJLIN

    u need a stream?

  • sport

Lin needs to make those shots at the rim cause those blind refs aren’t calling fouls for him!!

  • GoodDayLA

Why compare? Lin fans always fall into this trap of comparing Lin to another PG.

Think Bigger. We know there is NO comparison. So do the Lakers.

  • blubell

If Byron Scott doesn't want to lose to the WORST team in the league to tonight, Jeremy Lin will close the 4th. Just watch.— Robert Sha (@Gadgetomi)

  • GoodDayLA

    true

  • chan c

    yes. plssss…

  • golfhacker

Has Kelly made a FG this month?

  • John Lee

Van Exel was a very streaky shooter who loved showing off his dribble, only to have his little sideshow turn into TOs. In terms of PG skill he was inferior to Sedale Threatt.

  • Brent Yen

    M….good question..

  • 1mtoldman

starters; 2 assists on 14 made baskets. bench 9 assists on 10 made baskets

  • HeroBallJLIN
  • GoodDayLA

Kelly is shooting so bad he should not even be playing.

  • GoodDayLA

Lin should have been ignoring everyting from game 1. When I posted that before everyone got mad at me. Now apparently Lin is either breaking rules or scott has chnaged them to allow Lin to do his thing.

    Which one we’ll never know.

  • chan c

    Thank you!!! 🙂

  • blubell

I was young and didn’t know any better. lol. But he was still exciting to watch.

  • John Lee

  • Rene#17

  • CJSHYY

JC didn’t get enough points today so he wouldn’t pass the ball to him. LOL!

  • sport

What kind of offense is this? Always passing to the Hill and then moving away? Really hate that set that BS makes them run cause Hill just holds the ball and waste time, stopping ball movement!

  • stam

damn jordan hill always making those shots when JC passes to him lol

  • chan c

Yeah! ‘got it! Thanks a heap my fellow Lin fan! 🙂

  • leeda harun

    selfish rookie

  • Brent Yen

So the way hill got shots is to clog the lane of your own ball handler, so he had to pass to you?…..nicely done, hill, nicely done…

  • sport

Except JC’s passing to Hill and Ellington and other teammates are also ignoring him. It’s like Johnson’s not even there and his teammates are playing 4 on 5!!

  • blubell

    pic.twitter.com/Dxt2bGBTZe— Librafree (@Librafree)

  • stam

I think you nailed it. That is his play. he clogs the lane, catches the ball, holds the ball in the air, waits for you to lose the assist, and then he shoots it.

  • golfhacker

Thanks for the research! I was kinda being sarcastic, but I was sure his FG% this month was horrid.

  • orLinaryjoe

Jhill missed the side of the barn there

  • stam

BS making sure they build a big deficit in the 3rd.

  • Rene#17

Lin and Davis. Let’s PnR but don’t tell BS.

  • orLinaryjoe

    Shhhhh!

  • Terrible pass by Lin. Was he trying to feed his buddy Ed Davis? He has got to worry about taking care of himself first and his friends later.

  • stam

agreed… that was too rushed he should have slowed it down.

  • Brent Yen

    Man…..keep going lin!!

  • sport

Lin should worry about taking shots himself before passing to other people! When was the last time he took a off dribble 3 pointer or mid range shot during a fast break?

  • orLinaryjoe

  • John Lee

Spurs leading Cavs by 9 with 3:12 to go in 4th.

  • sport

  • stam

was that an ed davis steal or lin steal i wish i could have seen that clearer

  • Brent Yen

Lin heard u guys, he shoots…lol

  • sport

    Finally Clarkson is out!!

  • sws94

Lin’s impact on the game is to run the point and bring his team back. That’s the quality I want him to show. Get some points, some assists, play defense, play the full game of basketball.

  • Rene#17

    Off Lin’s fingers to Davis.

  • LOL with the substitution difficulties. This ref crew is D-League quality.

  • golfhacker

  • stam

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! LIN With the assist to ED

  • sws94

That’s what I’m talking about, Lin shouldn’t just score. He made that basket for Davis and +1. And now he’s getting to the foul line.

  • IsabeliJane*17

It’s fun how Jeremy and Davis are in-sync – potent PnR tandem, both with most blocks in this team, both hustles on rebounding.

  • stam

I’m afraid jeremy is getting hurt on these fouls?

  • Rick Johnson

  • sport

Yes finally getting some calls with these blind refs!

  • sport

When you’re getting to the rim you’re expecting to be hit no matter what, Lin’s tough those hit on the face or arms aren’t going to injure him! More worried about his thigh contusion.

If you want to get a sense of how a stats person (a person who looks at the numbers) rates all the new players, check out this forum thread – laker’s scouting report.

Here’s the one for Jabari Brown.
    http://www.clublakers.com/post3989715.html#p3989715

Jabari Brown (6’4″ 202 lb SG; 21 years old)–A teammate of Laker draft pick Jordan Clarkson back in college, Brown has the standing reach of taller PGs such as Jarrett Jack and Russell Westbrook. But he has none of the positional acumen: Brown, while theoretically an undersized SG, actually saw passing rates that screamed power forward: while he plays a predominantly spot up role (at 55.5%, he is in the bottom quarter of SGs), his back-to-back assist rates of 0.11 aren’t cutting mustard. He’s also not a leaper, with a dunk rate below the SG average, and a vertical leap in the low 30s. Defensively, this combined with his undersized stature really hurts–he’s a very poor rebounder, has only 6 blocks in 62 games and a piss-poor steal rate (0.85/p40). But even beyond that, the team effect bears it out–he’s been the worst defender for Mizzou two years running, and Mizzou this year in particular was already an awful defensive outfit to begin with. Brown will have to make it through his shooting: he’s a career 38.6% three point shooter in college and takes a ton of his shots from distance, but with a 78.2% free throw percentage, that shot might not be pure as it really is. Brown’s other selling point is an excellent ability to draw fouls given his shooter rep and limited athleticism, and he has made inroads with his mid-range pull-up and is a decent finisher as well. But if he is just a shooter-scorer type who is a net negative everywhere else, from athleticism to passing to defense, he’s just extremely interchangeable. There’s nothing particularly illuminating about his game.

I think he’s spot on with his review of many of the players, and he writes them before they even play a game as a Laker.

  • IsabeliJane*17

That’s why I wasn’t impressed. Just one game, UNSCOUTED. He can shoot though.

great joke B.S RT @ramonashelburne: Byron Scott on how he deals with losing, "go home and beat up the dog…j/k..I don't even have a dog"— Haralabos Voulgaris (@haralabob) March 13, 2015

  • That’s the Linsightful perspective!

  • JJ Hui

Didn’t Lin play with the rest of the team every game? What a nonsense spat out from his mouth! Really, BS’s interview were full of sh.. all the time and he tried to act superior but fail!!! He needs to learn from Lin for media interview!

More like a stool, what a bs coach!

Wasn’t he guarding Hardaway when he went off on those 3’s?

Here’s the one for Jordan Clarkson. I like JC so I’m not trying to knock on him, but I pretty much agree with his sentiment that JC shines in creating shots for himself but needs to develop everywhere else, and possibly might not develop beyond what he is. I hope Lin can get an unselfish partner to run a 2 guard combo, something JLin really work well with.

    http://www.clublakers.com/post3971119.html#p3971119

    Jordan Clarkson:
    Position: SG
    Height: 6′ 5”
    Weight: 186
    Age: 22
    Contract: N/A
    Nickname: N/A
    Years With Team: 0
    Years With League: 0
    Previous Teams: N/A
Acquired: 2014 NBA Draft (#46~trade with Washington Wizards for $1.8mil)

As a prospect, Clarkson just does not impress in any single area, and perhaps worse than that, has been absolutely misplaced by draft types who deem him to be a point guard in the NBA. He’s absolutely not, with a cumulative assist rate of 0.17 in three years of college–typically, this mark needs to be above 0.2 to even lend credence to that, and Clarkson’s assist to turnover rates were awful enough that I barely placed him as a shooting guard in terms of handles and vision.

So let’s not mislabel Clarkson: what he really is–a self-creating scorer. Out of a 46-shooting guard draft prospect sample, only five guards had fewer shots assisted than he had last year. He’s averaged over 19 points per game in college, on a comfortable 48.2% percentage across those three seasons. The past season he also re-invented his game to include more penetration–only two other players had more percent of shots at-rim and fewer percent of shots assisted. Clarkson slashed to the rim over 40% of his attempts this past season, and only 10% of his made shots there were assisted.

However, his “applied” athleticism, despite excellent conditioning (4.3% body fat) and leaping ability (38.5′ vertical) is merely average; out of a 35-shooting guard draft prospect sample, he ranked only 17th. The only area where Clarkson shines, as mentioned, is creating shots; elsewhere, Clarkson struggles across the board. Despite the vertical and the propensity to attack the rim, Clarkson posts a dunk rate that is slightly below the NBA average for shooting guards, and considering he only dunked 0.8% at Tulsa two years ago, that’s a poor sign. Clarkson is just awful at finishing, at 59.6%, a rate that is nothing out of the ordinary as he also shot 59% and 60% at rim his first two seasons at Tulsa; and given the at-rim frequency, he also posts a negative foul drawing rate (-0.02). Clarkson drew fouls better as a jumpshooter back at Tulsa, and given the awful finishing returns, he would play it smarter as a jumpshooter.

And that’s the rub: he’s also, somehow, become a poor jumpshooter, with diminishing returns with every passing season. His first year, he shot 38.1%, then a relatively OK 36.7%, and now…a pitiful 33.2%, a mark that would rank him 28th out of the 35-shooting guard sample. A huge chunk of the woes resides in his three point shooting: in three seasons, that mark has only been at 31.1%, a very poor mark for a guard, and there are also sample size concerns given that only a little over a quarter of his shots are from long range. That being said, a deeper look suggests that Clarkson is actually reasonable at pull-up jumpers, carrying a 37.4% aggregate across three seasons, and these comprise a third to two-fifths of his shots on average. In addition, he’s shot an aggregate 80.3% from the free throw line in a good number of attempts overall, suggesting that there’s more to him as a jumpshooter that could be fleshed out in the NBA.

To sum: offensively, the only aspect Clarkson is effective at is hitting mid-range jumpers off the dribble, and it’s questionable whether he can cash in on his ability to hit free throws given his awful at-rim percentages. His passing is overrated and is at strict shooting guard levels, and not even combo guard levels; his handles barely cut shooting guard territory. His applied athleticism is strictly average despite an intriguing vertical. Largely, he’s more style than substance: he can create shots and get to the rim at well, and is well conditioned, but he can’t finish what he started, and that puts a significant damper on what he brings to the table on offense. Clarkson only procured the fifth best offensive efficiency for the Tigers this past season, and that’s right in line with his offensive efficiency back at Tulsa. His style of play only has one strength, but he defers too often into his weaknesses to expand onto them, which takes a hit on the team’s overall efficiency.

I’m also not exactly sure how Clarkson got branded as a good defender: this past season, Missouri was an abysmal 210th in defense, and Clarkson was their second worst defender. Even in Tulsa, while his teams still played questionable defense (105th, 161st), he was often their third or second worst defender. For a guard, he has an extremely low steal rate (1.17 across three seasons), which is a red flag because he neither shows the ability to gamble or play defense adequately. His rebound rate is on the poor side as well, and easily in the bottom rung of guards in defensive rebounding, and his ability to block shots by size is nondescript. There’s a ton of evidence that he is a sieve defensively, in all aspects: rebounding, steal rate, team performance across three years.

Physically, Clarkson can fit in as an undersized shooting guard, but it’s very questionable whether it can develop the combo guard skills on the fly in the NBA, when he didn’t really display it in college (although a lot of draft types attribute that to bad coaching). While he’s 6’5″, his standing reach is small for a NBA SG–there are players who stand 6’2″ or 6’3″ who put similar reaches, such as Jeremy Lin and Monta Ellis, but those guys operate more like combo guards. If Clarkson truly isn’t a combo guard, which I suspect, that narrows down the niche of players he can play with effectively, given his reach.

It seems like many scouts have made excuses about Clarkson’s game in an attempt to convince themselves he’s first round material: the Missouri Tigers suffered from awful coaching who underachieved with the players he was given, Clarkson shot better in the first half of the season and could revert to that form, and that Clarkson’s measurables (height, vertical, conditioning) give him a chance to succeed in defense. That’s all a bit wishful thinking, and hypotheticals. The simple stats just lay it out, and at age 22, he might be what he is. The only useful aspect is his ability to get to the rim and possibly draw fouls and hit pull-up mid-rangers with nondescript passing, but his general athleticism, finishing ability, handles and overall defense leave a ton to be desired. Having ranked him 64th in my final mock (outside of the top 60), I’m not convinced that he’s an NBA material. He appears to be more style than substance.

  • blubell

Why not 10 and get a double double!

  • Brent Yen

Because……he is on Lakers…if he plays with Danny Green, Klay T, or Kyle Korver. I will expect 18 asts per game…LOL JK

  • HeroBallJLIN

Usually BS lets Lin finish the 4th Qtr when he is playing well. Why did BS take Lin out so early in the 4th Qtr? He was the only one not playing selfish and making plays for everyone. JC had one assist the whole game. Point guard with only one assist?!?! Really???

  • GoodDayLA

Be careful. Remember Zack Lavine and ANderson? It happens..

  • blubell
  • Brent Yen

Besides tanking. The only reason I can think of assume BS is a coach is Lin did not seem to have played with the right attitude. (No-look pass tov, etc) Obviously that is just nonsense, I an just wasting time guessing…lol

  • HeroBallJLIN

BS sometimes picks certain games to tank and certain games to win. I guess he didn’t care to win this one

  • Brent Yen

I think for tanking, NYK games are must losses…

good to see Lin is loyal, and his helpers are loyal, no FO.

  • nodomo

That includes the coach, who has not had the right mindset all season!

  • JoeTeam

Everything here reads like a case of 4 more mins for Lin and LAL wins? Was that the game flow?

  • Brent Yen

I am not sure if Lin could lead them to win or not. The problem was set in the 1st half.

  • CJSHYY

I don’t think Lin himself can win the game bc some players looked like work for BS… missed shot after missed.. always TO or foul in late 4Q. smh!

There were so many blown assists even if JLin was in longer not sure if it would have changed the outcome. Unless JLin just said screw the assists and put the ball in the basket himself. Something he’s got to get into his mindset, if his teammates didn’t come to play he has to put them on his back and do the hauling himself.

Byron Scott’s head of the snake.

  • Michael

Unless he is talking about the dog that needs to eat first.

  • orLinaryjoe

    Awkward!

  • Michael

Maybe he has filled up all that space by himself already.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin had the unusual court partner Jabrai Brown most of the time and their +/- are very similar.

  • IMO As a rhythm shooter, Lin “feels” the rhythm more when he was doing PnR but with the recent BS change, he had to readjust again.
I could be wrong but it’s one plausible explanation.

Lin has been finding ways to contribute by attacking the lane more and getting FTs, which is good but his shooting would’ve been better by handling the ball more.

BScott is really something else, worse than McHale in messing up Lin’s game consistently

  • Filler-up

Kobe is the #1 selfish guy on that team.

  • chan c

    ‘about time!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    From PFV

  • chan c

Oh God , I hope he explodes in these two upcoming games…

  • Filler-up

He should say the coach is coaching to not win. The players have no say who gets on the court. If they’re selfish bench them. Don’t complain after your team loses. This loss is on BS.

  • chan c

Whaaat??? This guy has become totally incomprehensible!!!

  • Filler-up

Did he tweet this? Lin has probably warned his friends to not tweet negative things.

  • sport

Because dunks are less likely to miss and allows the player to cut to the basket for dunks which Chandler Parsons, Johnson, and Clarkson can do. That’s why announcers always told Asik to dunk and go up strong instead of trying to do layups as a center!

  • chan c

I know now. Humans like BS exist to – break , melt and mold more of Lin’s character… if there is not yet enough of that breaking and molding yet . lol

  • joyce ward

I love the fact that kobe/scott has been exposed for all of the world. The more they try to beat Lin down, he comes back better and better, Now coaches/players/GM’s around the league this Laker’s organization is a cesspool of dirty dealing all due to Kobe. I suspect the Lakers will give Kobe a contract after this season because mitch/f/o won’t stand up to him. Kobe wants Rondo because he can’t shoot and he will be dishing Kobe the ball, so that he and Rondo will look like superstars surrounded by less talented players.LOL

  • JLin Fan from Australia

That will be awesome for the years to come:-) Continue to stay at the bottom:-)

  • joyce ward

I think Hill/Young will be traded in the off season because Jabari Brown is young, healthy and a good shooter and has much upside. Nick Young is 29 and pretty much maxed out his potential. Hill is just a lazy, low IQ big, who just likes to shoot two’s. He is not a rim protector and afraid to get under the basket like most bigs in the league. Tarik Black will take his spot. Now we know why Dantoni didn’t like Hill.

  • leeda harun

maybe when BS want to win. Another hidden agenda.

  • leeda harun

I guess next year they want to rebuild a new team with young players. We will see if the rebuild team is a success or a failure

  • 1mtoldman

quoth the raven nevermore; (at least not in a lakers uni)–as i predicted once the clamp down on mini-linsanity went into affect a few games ago lin’s minutes have been sequentially reduced each game. this has happened 3 times this season, any time lin’s performance was reaching a level to get attention.

coincidence? or conspiricy? we report, you decide.

  • 1mtoldman

once again lin has adopted rather rapidly to a from within the organization for which he is performing decimation of his possibility and continued to improve his performance anyway.

he’s getting pretty good at it. each demotion or decline in opportunity thrown at him he seems to now respond quicker finding a way to deal with it and still produce individual imporvement as well opporutnity for sucess for the unit however sucess for the unit is not on the agenda.

  • joyce ward

It is not a rebuild, it is about Kobe looking so good for the Laker’s next year, that they have to offer him a contract after next season. Laker organization is being bamboozled by Kobe. Kobe wants that player’s increase in salary in 2017. This all about kobe bringing Rondo here to make him look good and the fans will overlook their poor play because they are superstars surrounded with no help. That is the scenario that I see from the lakers and nothing more.

  • 1mtoldman

brown looked good. i would like to see a first unit of clarkson/ellington/johnson/kelly (sent to a 4 where he would be less harmful)/hill.

and that would leave a nice bench (as long as young stays out) or complete second unit of black/davis/boozer/(plays outside anyway and only gets in trouble when he tries to go to the basket)/brown and lin.

then you would no messy mix/matching of a 9 man rotation as have had. and a second unit where each player at their position is superior or at least less offense than their counterpart in the starting unit.

but hey its only a few games left anyway and no really playing for anything except to “not prioritize winning” to protect the protected pick.

no one but randle and kobe likely to be back next year anyway. and kobe fallen again before asg. no doubt.

long and winding road ahead for lakers. lin building up despite obstacles a solid resume to project to a new opportunity somewhere else. next year.

  • 1mtoldman

its hard to have a “pro” mentality when most of yer players are “amateurs”.

  • 1mtoldman

this team is so bad and has some much riding on losing as well as playing for themselves but one would think you should quit playing basketball on a professional level if you can’t beat the team the knicks are fielding these days.

but yes i think not five minutes more but what? 8 minutes more? also the goal for example this game once game was lost of was to stat pad hill so that lin in 22 minutes wasnt the leading scorer in that 22 minutes as well as top plus minus and leading in assists (all these he was when he exited the game for the last time and the game was basically over shortly there after).

the most interesting stat to me on this game was lin had more assists by himself in 22 minutes than the entire starting lineup did in their collecteively what something like 140 minutes.

  • 1mtoldman

this game specifically more so than ususal; vp robbed lin of a couple assists by no calls on obvious infractions around the basket as well as also keeping the whistle silent as line was getting held mugged smashed. etc. etc. it was as i say more obvious than usual.

  • 1mtoldman

u had to be there but as i said above novelty in this game the ultimate anti-lin ref violet palmer robbed lin of a couple assits with no calls negatting what would have been made baskets by his teammates.

  • Brewkowski

If they extend Kobe’$ contract, they are more stoopid than anyone would’ve thought.

  • 1mtoldman

the only player i see lakers at present have any interset in besides kobe currently in laker uniform is randle. anything else is just spare change. and yeah ive also said rondo the perfect compliment to kobe; plays like a price but with a aura of talent.

  • Samuel

Clyde likes Lin, he always puts up some good words for Lin, when they were in the big apple earlier this year, he said Scott doesn’t play Lin a lot only because Lakers are tanking. Can’t say the same about Clyde from Houston though..

  • Samuel

Let’s hope Nuggets sign D’Antoni, Davis, and Lin in this off season, let Clarkson, Kobe, and Young ballhogging each others next year..

  • joyce ward

Yep. Clarkson is getting exposed now because he is being scouted, unfortunately scott doesn’t have an answer to help because he is not a good coach. I agree Randle, is who they are looking to build around. The big three in Lakerland next season is kobe/rando/randle…book it

  • joyce ward

    They will and they are.

  • Samuel

Scott said players were selfish last night and he is right, yet he had no problem to let Kobe Jr to finish the game, what was he thinking? Lin alone had 2 more assists than whole starting five!

  • Brewkowski

Lol, Lin admitted he didn’t listen to Byron’s spiel? Or did he mean Byron’s post game?

  • Samuel

Wish I was watching the game on Knicks feed last night, when Lin blocked Larkin’s shot, Stu joked about “Lin blocked like 26 shots IN HIS CAREER”, he doesn’t ever know that Lin has more block shots than Lakers big men Boozer and Scare..

  • joyce ward

Sounds good to me. Also I don’t think Davis will be with the Laker’s next year either because he gave lin props for upping his game.

  • joyce ward

True, unless Scott wants beat a rival team. I suspect that lin might play big minutes in against the Clippers.

  • Brewkowski

Because he speaks intelligently rather than the standard sport cliches

  • Brewkowski

After that block and game, Rose was never the same. He played his heart out trying to show up Lin. That’s the game when he injured his knee.

  • Samuel

Why Lin has to deal with those ballhoggers and unreasonable coachs where ever he goes? when will this nightmare be end? it’s really tough to be Lin fans..

  • MoominFloren

With only 18 more games to go, I think nothing bigger than stopping the linsanity and continue the Great Tank. His master is staring him from the bench…..

  • CJSHYY

I feel the same way. BS & Kobe don’t like Young. I am sure he will be traded. Hill too bc he just never a good rim protector only ISO himself to take the shot then left no O Reb at all… smh!

  • CJSHYY

Randle too. He will be back next season. LOL!

  • Dan Cohen

This is just sad.. as I said before.. if they lose to the lowly knicks, laker is a sad team.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Exactly what I thought too. He will get more money from other teams. LOL!

  • BobbyH

And this is going to be like this for the next few years as long as Kobe/BS are there. Sad for the fans of the Lakers.

  • joyce ward

Unfortunately, lin has been chosen for this mission by God to expose the corrupt and racist underberbelly of the NBA. Lin is a pioneer, so he has to go through this, but throughout all of this he has remained strong , focused, and upped his game every time this happens to him.

  • CJSHYY

Can’t agree more… Kobe wants to cash out the big salary in 2017. That’s why he said for now he will not play but things change…. He hopes Lin can out of Lakers so Lakers have to count on him again no matter what…. it’s all about $$$

  • David Kim

They gonna be sad team next year again. LoL

another selfish player. I watched him since the Nike Summit International. He isn’t much of a player. Andrew Wiggins helped the international team kicked butts for 2 years. One of the year seemed to be the year with Randle on the American team. Lost pathetically to the International team.

  • orLinaryjoe
  • leeda harun

I agree. His path is different than other bb players .

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Randle & JC just the same type selfish player. They only think about themselves to score first…

  • Samuel

I don’t understand, they didn’t hate on Yao Ming, at least not like they how hating on Lin now. Maybe it has something to do with Lin being an Asian-American, also a Harvard grad and has a super large fan base?

  • orLinaryjoe

Better tank. At this point, better stats for Lin makes a happier Lin fan.

  • joyce ward

Yao had the whole nation of China behind him, so the NBA had to be nice to him to remain a presence in China.

  • Samuel

ok add Randle to the list, Sr (Kobe), Jr (Clarkson), Young, and Randle, Lakers going to be fun to watch next year, NBA might need to allow them to play 2 balls at the same time.

  • orLinaryjoe

Yes, Lin was tied with Jhill @14 when the tank pull him out for the second half of the 4th.

  • Samuel

Lin has whole Taiwan behind him, and he is very popular in China as well. Sure Lin would be the Jackie Robinson in basketball, but I still feel that NBA tries to run Lin out of the league for whatever reasons 🙁

  • BobbyH

Lakers will become irrelevant in NBA world. The real meaningful rebuild process will be likely to happen only after Kobe is retired. And it could take another 3 to 5 years after that for the team to even reach playoff. Too bad for TWC, signing a 25 years deal. Just looked at how many open seats in previous 3 Lakers home games.

A sad team that got hijacked by a player with sicken mind and ego. Well, at this point, only extreme measures can save this team but no one in Lakers org higher up has the vision and guts to cut the cancer.

    Tony Parker 23
    Jeremy Lin 25
    Ricky Rubio 26

    Stu did give Lin compliments.

so what’s the other blocked shot that they didn’t credit? Does someone have a clear screenshot that can be retweeted?

It is like The whole thing is set up for Kobe, so his return can be more glorious….the savior of the Lakers……lol

  • Dan Cohen

I was thinking the same thing.
notice everytime kobe is not playing for the season, the team tanks.. well with dantoni I cannot blame him because he has like 8 ppl on the roster and the rest injured….

with bs.. he has kobe at the start and he still stinks with the starting record.

  • Brent Yen

He can have his “the return” all he wants, Lin gonna go Linsane on another team! lol

  • Arsenium12 .

Here’s one more block from Jeremy that I like. It was against the Jazz in March, 2014.

By the way, in 29 minutes he had 17 points (7 of 10 field goals), 9 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

They don’t want Lin to score 20 points with Kobe there and win. Kobe wont like a Linsanity game.

  • wu kong

JLin Fan from Australia @brentyen:disqus more info on PER: http://www.opposingviews.com/i/sports/wayne-winston-simplifies-pers

“The disturbing thing about these weights is that if an NBA player shot 33 .33% (1-3) then the more shots they take the higher their PER because shooting 1 for 3 gives you a net contribution of 2(45.75)-2(39.73)>0!! Clearly this is bad because a 33% shooter is not a good shooter and with these weights the more shots a bad shooter takes, the higher his PER rating.”

    it is a flawed stat…

  • Brent Yen

Yes it is….I totally think PER is promoting ball hogs…lol

  • Arsenium12 .
  • Chipdip

PG 28min play with 1 asst. PG for the the future Lakers!

  • webattorney

He’s just a rookie right now. And we all know he’s a SG, not PG.

  • Chipdip

agree with you there but that’s not how this kid is being portrayed, Not pointing to the kid but the Lakers management team. Hope Lin could leave the LA Losers asap

  • Chipdip

great performance in limited time … only 22+ min played

  • CJSHYY

JC is not their future PG. He is just one of the tools to prevent Lin back to starting lineup & stay in Lakers. To Kobe only Rondo or RW can match him. The king of Lakers..$$$

  • Chipdip

I think the same and I was just making fun of the Losers’ management team. As a player I think JC has great potential and at that rookie’s cost which is a bargain for this and next year for sure. I really do not like watching JLin playing for the Losers… Hope he will land on a different team next season.

  • CJSHYY

Me too bc not only JC is ISO SG mode but Randle will be back next season. He is just like JC too… ISO a lot… smh! No more Lakers.

  • CJSHYY

Just check Kobe still not follow JC on tweet. Just like what he did to Kendall Marshall last season.

  • grover chang

Yao shows an Asian physical god could play in the nba. He is rare. Lin looks more normal. He gives millions of other Asians the dream they could come to the nba. Lin is a pioneer for more to come. That is threatening to the establishment.

  • Brent Yen

PostASB, Jeremy Lin had ast/tov of 4.13, which ranked 2nd among all 84 guards with >= 25 mpg and is only behind Ty Lawson (5.35). #TheNewLin

For guards with USG% over 20%, Lin ranked #1

  • Grace Nsns

Rookie’s allowed/encouraged to learn through mistakes, he has potential and ‘s lucky. no biggie here.

  • It’s simply amazing what Lin had been able to do post-ASB, he went off with unshackled PnR.
Then after BScott reigned in PnR, he still found ways to get to FT line and sneaked in few PnRs with Ed Davis!

I really hope Lin/Davis will make a pact to go somewhere together next season.
Both can be All-Star with the chemistry and highlights they will produce!

  • Brent Yen

    Among 53 guards with >= 25mpg and 20%+ USG% Post-ASB, Jeremy Lin ranked 6th in TOV%. #TheNewLin #tovProneMyA55

  • linspiredinla

    Does he still follow Lin?

  • Brent Yen

To give a perspective on how much the improvement is, Pre-ASB, he has 1.93, bottom 17th of all 52 guards with 25+ mpg and 20+% USG%.

  • yes, Lakers as an organization will suffer the financial loss and loss of credibility as a result of its inability to act by not cutting their losses early with forcing Kobe to retire or play nice with future stars (i.e. Dwight, Lin, etc.)

But it has happened over and over again in the business world like with Microsoft and HP. When they focus on short-term quarterly profit, they stop innovating for their future, became stagnant and lost their values.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! So far not yet unfollow him but I believe once Lin is not a Lakers, he will unfollow Lin.

  • Brent Yen

FWIW, I do not rate PER or AST/TOV highly, because they ignore the context of why tov happen, etc. Anyway, it still give some reference for a particular player and his relative performance I think.

  • He really was successful in cutting down TOs, perhaps due to Doc’s advice to avoid certain TO-prone areas on court as you pointed out.

  • Brent Yen

Who ever did that to Lin, Josh or Doc or both, they need to get paid big….LOL

  • Charlie S

A follow up to your point. Much of the volume shooters in the NBA are really really average in terms of field goal % compared with the league. James Harden is one example.

    http://bballbreakdown.com/buckets/app/#/playerView/201935_2014

But hey with a big enough ego and the belief you are better than the rest, you do give off the appearance of a star shooter. So now we know PER is overrated.

  • Brent Yen

To be fair, most SGs like Harden had to take more bad shots than other players…but you are right in general

  • JoeTeam

thx for the update on that … yes, when he doesn’t get a call, it goes the other way. FG missed, and not FTs. Really hurts the efficiency, esp on low minutes.

  • JoeTeam

Still asking, did BSc really reign in PnR, or was the original quote as I read, him telling how he affected Lin’s game in earlier season and that’s why Lin is doing well now, playing his way. That’s what I read from that one quote. What other quotes indicate they cut PnR today?

  • JoeTeam

the efficiency I go by is fantasy, where box scores get you + and – points, and you divide my mins to get a ratio. It’s pretty good, to see how a player did in terms of production per minute. It even does blocks. Weakness is, they don’t do hockey assists and I would love to see credit given for missed shots that have follow through dunks. That’s how teams work, to have 2nd and 3rd chances. Ah well, all these fantasy systems have to update by the game scores, so it’s all NBA official stats driven.

Anyway, at a glace, one can see how a player is doing. Asik for instance is inconsistent. and I would guess it’s because you have AD there eating up all the scoring when he’s out there. All Asik can do is eat of the rebs.

  • Dan Cohen

    nash

  • LAJane

Of course the tanking, but for sure he also does not want Lin to shine in NY, the scene of what he likely sees as the crime of Linsanity.

  • JoeTeam

gotta admit, it was a strong move by Lin.

  • CJSHYY

Really? But I can’t see it either.

  • wu kong

yes SG’s do end up taking more contested or ‘poor’ shots but the biggest question is ‘do they have to?’ Just look at Kobe this season- he took so many shots with 2 or 3 people on him and he did not have to. If you have 2-3 on you then other players are open.

I see JLin dribble into the opponent and then they follow him in his wake – almost pied piper ‘ish- and then he dishes to the open man. That is team ball mentality but if these shooters would do it… it would actually help out their personal ‘selfish’ goals too.

Shooters like Kobe, Melo, Harden draw the attention of the opponent and often get double or triple teams but they find it very hard to be used simply as ‘Bait’ and not get the stat for their work. It is shame really b/c if they would simply pass it off more then the opponent would not be able to swarm them in fear that they would pass it off. Which would leave them actually MORE open for higher percentage shots.

I have heard Jlin say multiple times he will give up a good shot for a great shot…team ball and the desire for the team win over personal stats… Personally a I prefer to watch this kind of basketball.

  • Rick Johnson

    OK

  • Brent Yen

Kobe is like the extreme of the case. I am simply saying as the scoring option, a lot of SGs had to bail out some bad possessions.

  • wu kong

for sure.. and that is kind of the job of a SG in my mind… I just think they could make it easier on themselves if they would play team ball and move be willing to move the ball for a great shot to someone else.

  • wu kong

OK i am heading back under my rock. 🙂 TTYL.

  • Brent Yen

    LOL

“I see JLin dribble into the opponent and then they follow him in his wake – almost pied piper ‘ish- and then he dishes to the open man. That is team ball mentality but if the shooter would do it i would actually help out their personal ‘selfish’ goals too.”

This is exactly how great soccer and rugby players do it – you go at a defender and draw him/her to commit, plus others the more the merrier. Then you create time/space opportunities and you know your players can be creative with the overload situation. Then you release the pass, and your team has the overwhelming force to finish out the play. Team ball is so great to see …

The reason why this is more important in soccer and rugby is the field is so vast, so you have to create that time/space buffer so your teammates have a chance to score. Ever wonder why with such a big field and big goal, the scores are so low? It’s because you really need a LOT of space and time to get the ball in, owing to the amazing skills of the players. In bball, you can get away with a prayer shot here or there because most players can hit a long 3 once in awhile, so seeing wu kong call out how it works for Lin is exactly what I love about Lin … he’s creating that space/time in the context of bball’s small court, which is just a split second or a hand+wrist’s space.

  • Wandais38 .

LOL!! Got it. That’s fine, but JLin does not get enough credit for his physique staying on Bazillion.

  • oh, it was that one article by Mike Bresnahan that quoted BScott as saying that he asked Lin to cut PnR. BScott clearly doesn’t want Lin to shine with PnR even if it’s very effective, only wants to play certain things first.

    https://twitter.com/JLinPortal/status/574404712612560896

Scott revealed he asked Lin to cut back on calling pick-and-roll plays.

“I just didn’t like the fact that you use it right when you come in the game. I wanted to move the ball first — let’s see how they play certain things first,” Scott said. “Let’s see how they guard pick-and-rolls when we get movement.”

Lin has adjusted appropriately, earning rare praise from his coach.

“He’s doing a much better job of running the offense,” Scott said.

  • Chipdip

“I don’t crack under pressure!” Damn right, JLin does not! Go Lin Go!

  • 1mtoldman

assist to tov and per are not good measures. there are other ways of measuring something like what per is attempting to do (espn and bleacher report and whoever have their own) there is a stats service i like to follow that i think is a realistic result; its just a matter of weighting different things. assist to to is meaningless. there is no reason to compare the two and assume it means anything. tov is one thing assists are another. they can be measured indepndently in various ways that are meaningful but theres no reason to compare them.

since the asg with the stats i look at lin is in top 50 in league top 10 in pg. overall “efficiency”.

since the asg of the players acutally playing for the lakers davis has improved the most yet been given the least minutes.

lin the next most and the next least minutes.

clarkson also improved. tho even playing more minutes still behind lin significantly since asg.

these are the only 3 to improve. johnson the invisible man always stays about the same.

boozer, ellington (tho always bad anyway), kelly, hill, have delicned.

kelly when lin went out (when i went to bed) in the 4th was o for his last 4 games from the field. he’s approaching sacre territory of utter uselessness. tank fodder.

black sacre (and now brown) have not enuf pt to evaluate.

(well maybe sacre but no matter how you evaluate him i know he’s going to be one of the worst players ever to play the game so dont bother)

young, and everybody else n.a. (most of the time).

  • JoeTeam

Ok, that’s the one I read. Anyway, I tend to think, my opinion only, that was BSc making some mealy mouthed reframe of things to his benefit … like, Lin couldn’t play my system and I reigned him in early on and now he’s playing great. Can’t really tell unless one was there for the whole convo. So you might be write, this is jmo.

  • JoeTeam

he definitely lifts more that KT and Curry, if you look at muscle definition and mass. I would guess Curry doesn’t want to mess with his shot, but Lin’s always adjusting and getting stronger, improving his shot through troughs.

  • linspiredinla

    Ike’s Linsanity sandwich!

  • Wandais38 .

not that familiar with curry except knowledge of his shooting and if I were him I would be nervous about messing with that as well. but jlin definitely needs to be able to take physical contact when he drives, because it is a crucial part of his game. its good to see jlin transitioning into other levels of the game, like improving his shot, because it is important for longevity.

Okay I see thanks. Do you know if they just happened to run into him, or did he tell them he’d be there from the game last night (which would be nice)? Seemed to be quite a coincidence LinGarden would just happen to run into him at Ike’s Hope they weren’t stalking him.

  • FrankW

But every guy in midlife crises need a 2000hp Lambo and a few chicks half his age, hugs could come later. LOL

  • wow, eating Linsanity sandwich made Lin’s biceps look like Hercules’ LOL
It could be a good advertisement (mostly for men)

  • I believe you meant to say “double yumm” lol

  • haha, otherwise .. you’ll be thinking about it all day long

  • it’ll be great to hear the whole interview, just from the article, I believe Bresnahan was trying to communicate that Byron didn’t like how Lin used PnR to create Linsanity from the get-go (in 6-7 game stretch) because it deviated from his system.

It really did not make any sense since Lin PnR produced more wins/assists.
It only made sense if Byron (or Kobe) doesn’t like Lin to shine with PnR or it jeopardizes his tanking priority. So Byron has to reign in Lin’s PnR in the beginning of the games.

They plan to watch 4 games including GSW ones. Really diehart Jeremy Only Lin Garden fans! Couple of them went to watch JLin games every game. Last year they tried their best to go all JLin usual places but didn’t get to see him. This year they just planned to enjoy all the JLin like places. Unexpectedly they met him. Fun to read their reactions when they realized JLin was at the same place:-)

  • linspiredinla
  • JoeTeam

I guess it’s timeframe – I read it that BSc was referring to beg of season, so he reigned JLin in so that’s why JLin is playing well now. Notice he prefaced it with how well Lin has been playing lately. It doesn’t matter, all the smoke around BSc is on purpose anyway, because he’s deftly losing games in subtle ways, and then talking about it means nothing because he’s saying this or that to uphold the untruthful game. I am hoping the league takes a step to uphold the integrity of the game.

Jeremy Lin Gets The Hollywood Treatment
    http://2paragraphs.com/2015/03/jeremy-lin-gets-the-hollywood-treatment/

The Jeremy Lin saga (or mystery, or tragedy–take your pick) continues in Los Angeles. Since it’s Tinseltown let’s look at the screenplay. The mercurial villain–and evil denier of playing time–is
head coach Byron Scott. With a gleaming head and tiny mustache, B. Scott once held great power in this smog-filled universe. But that was many years ago when players wore very short shorts. There wasn’t even a Staples Center back then. Scott’s return has plunged the Lakers universe into darkness.

The hero is Jeremy Lin, held down by forces beyond his control. Since he looks (and plays) like no other player in the league, the hero Lin confounds B. Scott, who doesn’t know what to do with him. Lin can score and pass, but like all great heroes he has an Achilles heel–he sometimes allows his opponent to score. The hero often shows signs of brilliance–much as he has displayed in previous lives–but B. Scott irrationally fears this. B. Scott would rather lose games–as many as possible–than see this unusual player succeed and usher in a world he doesn’t understand. So Jeremy Lin plays just 22 minutes against the pathetic, league-worst New York Knicks–and the Lakers lose at home 101-94. In his 22 minutes Lin scored 14 points and had 7 assists.

  • MoominFloren

TANKS for the hospitality. He’s a real bro, always stands up for Lin

  • joyce ward

Look at Lin, got his own watch by a big time corporation and his own shoes by Adidas. I am so proud. Here are some of the movie stars that are ambassadors: Leonardo DiCaprio, , Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz. You go Lin

  • joyce ward
  • CJSHYY

I think TAG Heuer sure feel very confident on Lin bc they signed him before his FA even starts…

  • Yascar

Feel the same way. This is a big time signing and Tag Heuer choose their brand ambassadors very carefully. I think it’s because his appeal and sorry transcends basketball.

  • joyce ward

There are a lot of international athletes on their brand and lin and Tiger Woods seem to be the only American athletes that they have signed. They recognize that lin is a pioneer in a sport where he is the only Asian American playing in the NBA. He is a Harvard grad with great bball IQ and he can also ball. Lin is an international Icon, and good for Tag Hueuerr for recognizing that. Also does Kobe have a brand?

His dad was definately a cause and once he died, Tiger drifted and lost his way and motivation. That happens a lot with child protégés. Agassi was like that until he almost gave up the game. He changed his motivation and became a champion for himself and his own reasons. Agassi has transformed himself into a great man building many great chartered schools for underprivileged children. A man should never be judged on a failure that hurt only himself. It’s not like he murdered anyone. All athletes have groupies that are hunt them down like bounties. A life should never be judged on an incident, it should be judged by the process and intent.

Tiger was and is judged by almost the same standards as Lin. Recently, Rory McCelroy threw his club in anger into the water on air. The media treated it in a light hearted way as if it was nothing. If that was Tiger, he’d been chastised and demonized as a low life, no good, role model to the youth of America. The racial bias against Tiger is just as polarizing as it is for Lin. The fact that he has always claimed to be half Thai and multicultural annoys all Americans, black and white. So while Tiger has struggled on his comeback from injuries and swing changes, he continues to be judged by standards that far exceeds any mere mortal. Other so call great players have struggled for 2-3 years of no having won anything and are given a pass. However Tiger is called a wash up if he misses even one cut on his first tournament back.

If you ask why people hate Lin, then ask yourself why you hate on Tiger. The reason is that the media and experts can sway most people into believing anything they want you to believe.

None that I know of. I only know Hublot and Audemars Piguet as luxury watches who have/had NBA players as ambassadors or spokespersons but none for Tag Heuer.

Well, I don’t hate on Tiger. I am sorry for what he did relative to all the good he was doing. I’m glad you see the dad thing too. Teaching kids how to excel at will and have balance … now that’s hard. Not sure how to do it but I’ll have to learn because I can see all the harm of extreme achievers who are not 100% on their mental health game. You know what I mean.

I mean “you” in the general term of the masses. I have to check myself too when the media start hating on someone. We all have a bit of that negativity in us to judge because we can. It doesn’t help that the media, talk shows and so call news people make it okay to make Fun of people when thye fall. We wonder why kids bully other kids and yet that’s exactly why they do it. They think it’s funny to put down others for their faults. It’s why I hate so many so call reality TV shows.

Tim Tebow was one of those characters that people loved to hate. I wonder how long “Mr Football” will last on his media pedestal before they tear him down.

  • Acbc

His dad taught him it was okay to fool around because that’s he did. Tiger definately had “daddy issues”. He loved his dad and his dad was the structure of his success. When Tger’s dad died, he lost that structure and started to hang around the superstar athletes near his home. It was a deadly mix of events for sure. Those athletes also showed him how to “take advantage” of his status with groupies.

It’s funny how a few years ago, there were people who predicted the death of watches, that it would fade away like pocket watches would. For a while, I never wore my watches because of cell phones. Now all of a sudden it’s cool and fashionable again.

Yes, you wouldn’t want to lose one of these watches. Here is one of their “best selling” Aquaracer men’s models. You can see the full line here : https://shop-us.tagheuer.com/en/watches/aquaracer.html/f/centrix_218x1239/6413

The other lines of TAG Heuer watches are Carrera, Grand Carrera, Formula 1, etc. My guess is that, on average, they would be more expensive still.

  • martan267

I just looked at the price tag for an Aquaracer, not even a JL edition… $4,150… I’m thinking a special edition may cost even more…. It can be an investment. If Linsanity Prime goes prime time, it can become a collector’s item. If Jeremy becomes an HOF… Watch out!!! No pun intended…

  • JoeTeam

Yep, if you look at all the powerful, wealthy and successful people, they are just like everyone else. They need love and support. The only thing is out of respect for everyone’s free choice, we relate to people like that differently, and we would not say anything even if we are good friends. They key is to risk losing that friendship, to try to be really supportive. We accidentally isolate ourselves from each other all the time, and then the rivers carry us away from each other.

Media likes to amplify the extremes to get paid views. We all know that and that unfortunately is influencing us all too.

I am baffled when media or Hollywood says – we give them what they want. It’s in the numbers. What they are doing is evolving a culture, and in the old days when News had solid editorial, professionals who aspired to do social good, our thought processes were safer.

I had a nice discussion with Etane about 1.5 yrs ago where it came clear that at one point about 1994, a key guy came into Fox who tied politics to News. What was a key defining moment too. That was when Steve Chao was fired at Fox:

Make it real. Lakers deserve Rondo as much as Rondo deserves Lakers. Kobe and Rondo playing for Lakers will twist the neck of those die hard ex-Lakers.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

These moves don’t make Lakers any better. The Lakers’ problems is so deep rooted.
Just ask how many teams in NBA would want to have Kobe on their team.
Just ask how many teams in NBA would want to have Byron Scott as part of their coaching staff; not to mention the head coaching job.

If there is any Laker fans who think Jeremy is a problem, they should ask the question that how many teams in NBA would like to have Jeremy Lin in their team right now?

Answer those questions, the problems of Lakers are not so difficult to us.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    LOL

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Just finished watching Glory Road. Disney movie about NCAA Championships in 1966 and first college basketball team to have a starting line-up with all black players. Really interesting and good movie so recommend it to all here. Pat Riley played in that game and called it the “Emancipation Proclamation of 1966.” If you do watch it, watch the credits. The next game when Lin plays against the Hawks is going to be very important to Jeremy. It is virtually an audition playing against a playoff team. I’m sure Byron would come up with something to shackle Jeremy; using Lin almost exclusively with J. Brown was the latest stroke of genius from Byron.

Byron Scott’s tanking strategy is the Round Robin approach in pairing his guards and Lin will always be the one with the short end.

  • Filler-up

He’ll turn Brown into Troy Daniels who got a nice contract after he made that shot in the playoffs off of Lin’s feed.

  • Kianainhi

Kenny Atkinson is Asst Coach for the Hawks. He knows what JLin is all about. Remember he worked out with Lin in Palo Alto during Lin’s RFA & was player development coach in NYK. Lin publicly credited him for helping him out.

  • sport

I’d like to see JLin incorporate more off dribble, iso shooting moves. Maybe he can learn that running hook shot that Aaron Brooks does. AB is short but he seemed to make it every time without being blocked. With JLin’s height and physique that running hook might be even more unstoppable! That 360 move on Fisher was really great, should really perfect it into this offense.

  • sport

What number did JLin rank in all time scoring at Harvard?

  • John Lee

Not to mention that Jeremy had to first steal the ball back from Blazers after Harden’s TO. Jeremy is directly responsible for BOTH of Rox playoff wins, yet the hicks BLAME him instead. There are very solid reasons why Houston is now hated, and also avoided by quality FAs.

  • David Kim

One day I want Lin come back to Knicks win championship before he retires. I am one of ex-knicks fans. Knicks fans are so thirsty about championship which they never won championships for more than 20 years.

    https://youtu.be/KHbD5cTDaco

  • Kwok Wai Lai

So be it. There are also very valid reasons why Lakers will be hated and also avoided quality FAs.

  • John Lee

I think the Lakers are even more hated than Rox and by more fans. Melo and LeBron didn’t even consider LA after the Shaq AND Dwight fiascoS. Rox got lucky with D12 because the guy is SO DESPERATE to leave LA that he didn’t really think things through.

  • John Lee

Not happening under Dolan/CAA watch, though I’m with you in hoping for changes, sooner rather than later.

  • joyce ward
  • lleepar

I think CAA’s stranglehold on Dolan and MSG may have been lessened somewhat by Phil Jackson’s arrival in the Knicks organization. But given Melo’s new contract, I’d say they still have some clout.

But in 2012, after D’Antoni resigned, CAA was strong enough that Woodson was told that the coaching job was his — but only if he’d fire his longtime friend and agent and sign on as CAA’s client. Woodson threw his old friend under the bus, and got the job.

What’s lesser known is that Jeremy also received a pitch from CAA to become their client shortly after the season ended, and the Knicks told him to go out and get an offer from another team for them to match. But Jeremy decided not to follow Woodson’s example and ditch the one guy who’d believed in him from the difficult beginnings. He told CAA “no.”

I know much was subsequently reported about Dolan’s reaction to the Rocket’s poison pill offer to Jeremy. But I’ve always privately suspected that it wouldn’t have been a problem if Jeremy had just caved in to CAA’s pressure.

Someone asked earlier why Lin likes 7 more than 17.
I noticed that Cristiano Ronald uses 7 too.

  • FrankW
  • Arsenium12 .

Here is the video from the ESPN feed. At least, Stan van Gundy gives some credit to Jeremy Lin.

In the CSN Houston feed, with Bill Worrell and Matt Bullard, it’s all about Troy Daniels. He calls for the pass, wants to take the shot (etc., etc.), and Jeremy passes it.

I don’t think Lin likes 7 because of Cristiano Ronald

Oh, joy. So Jeremy would get to start the last game this month, and all nine games in April? He gets the season’s garbage time?

  • deesee5

You just sent me a Google search link. Lol. I was looking for an article that said it. Anyway it’s not PFV that has the 174 IQ. It’s is Brother, “The Super Genious” John D. Villareal. Now I see why they call him the “Super Genious”.. I think his brother is more knowledgable of the NBA though. He knows his stuff!

  • deesee5

This, and the 1 in 17 stood for one or himself, and God for the 7.

Byron Scott plans to start Jeremy Lin in last 10 games, though not set in stone. Jordan Clarkson will then come off the bench— Mark Medina (@MarkG_Medina) March 15, 2015

Not set in stone. B/c it all depends on how the tank ranking goes.

  • linspiredinla
  • JoeTeam

    That’s fun news …

  • joyce ward

Don’t care, as long as he is stat padding

  • deesee5

Might as well let Lin out of the Lakers on a better note right? Lol

  • linspiredinla

So many “negative” comments here! I agree with you! Let JLin shine his way out of Lakers!!

  • grover chang

Nothing like constantly changing the line ups and never indicating when the next change will come to disrupt chemistry and rhythm. If tanking is what you need, BS is your man.

  • TTNN

“His role won’t change,” Scott said. “It will be the same. I want to keep it as simple as possible. ”

I really don’t like this part. That makes the total difference, doesn’t matter whether Lin start or come off the bench, as Lin was not given the role that he deserve and Lakers need.

It makes it even more awkward that Lakers are trying to tank and protect the pick, so we could see Lin got more limited when he is starting. Anyway, I think now Lin should know better what the team and the coach is trying to do, so he would not confused further that team is trying to win, and he would know whether it worth to sacrifice his game or not.

  • Rick Johnson

Might be dangerous for the tank though. Those teams (POR, LAC, DAL) unless jockying for playoff position will be resting starters for playoffs and might be winnable. MIN and SAC might try to out-lose them for pick position.

  • lleepar

Byron Scott quote about Lin’s starting last ten games.
    (from Mark Medina article [link]).

“‘I want to see how much of a difference it is now as opposed to the start of the season,’ Scott said after Sunday’s morning shootaround at the Lakers’ practice facility in El Segundo. ‘He knows the offense better and he knows what I need from him every single night on both ends of the floor. Now to see him in a starting role, it would be a little bit of a change. He was thinking so much back earlier in the season. Right now, he’s just playing.'”

Just who does he think he is kidding? We all know why Kobe wanted a slower, non-shooting back court partner like Price to feed him non-stop balls to chuck up his endless bricks.

And why should anyone care (least of all Jeremy) whether Byron Scott might finally decides in his own unique view that Jeremy has “improved” since the start of the season? Jeremy plays his last game on April 15 for this coach. So BS thinks Jeremy or his fans should actually care if this coach manages to choke out something which might resemble a compliment about Jeremy?

  • linspiredinla
  • FrankW

Was Clarkson twerking with that defensive move?

  • joyce ward
  • lleepar

I wish I had confidence that Byron Scott somehow turned fair all of a sudden. But after the stuff that’s come out of his mouth about Jeremy for a whole season, I’m cautious.

I’d like to believe he’s going to finally let Jeremy play his best games. But I’m more concerned that Scott has been into pressured to letting Jeremy start, and he’s gotten agreement that he’ll be featured in no more than the last ten games … with a heavy coaching hand mucking things up some more for Jeremy.

  • joyce ward

Also the number 17 when you add 1+7 =8. The number 8 represents new beginnings.

  • linspiredinla

again, I don’t agree. Like to look on the positive side, as I am sure Lin will.

  • Rick Johnson

Real? It reminds me of Roger Rabbit. They should have put some tanks in the background.

  • joyce ward

My take on lin playing starter for last 10 games is either (1) mitch is not drinking that rondo koolaid from kobe.(hoping lin will consider to sign with Lakrs) (2)mitch is not impressed with FA PG and he knows Dragic will sign with Heat because I am sure Pat Riley has scared him enough about Kobe, that he definitely doesn’t want to play with him.(3) Let lin play his game in finally ten games to get a decent contract. You decide…and the plot thickens….

  • Brent Yen

I feel it simply just because it does not matter to them any more, so
    1) They do not want to discourage FAs from coming (after seeing how Lin was used),
    2) They do not want to have a bad relationship with Lin and his fans..

  • joyce ward

Also who knows, maybe Lin getting that big endorsement from Tag Huerer with his own watch design like Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz triggered something in their Hollywood mojo…..LOL

  • joyce ward

That too, but it is already to late on all your points.

  • Brent Yen

Lin’s situation will be taken notice by a lot of agents. THose agents will take those into consideration for their clients.

  • CJSHYY

I always thought they will bring Lin back to starting lineup in the last 20 games but… Well, everything it’s all for resign Lin… Hope he will not buy it. Before you sign the contract everything is on your way but after not so…. w Kobe Lin will back to bench again if he really stays w Lakers. Just look at Young now… smh!

  • lleepar

Any agent worth their salt isn’t going to overlook a season’s worth of Lin’s treatment by the Lakers … just because they give him a meager handful of games at the very tail end of the season.

What’s more, the jury is still out as to whether Scott will do everything possible in those last few games to screw up Jeremy’s rhythm. All Scott has to do is send in play after play that the other four on the floor can’t execute well — and keep substituting so that no single group of five starts racking up the points.

  • lleepar

There could be any number of pro-Lin factors which brought this about. OTOH, the one thing I’m really positive about is that it had absolutely nothing to do with Byron Scott having any change of heart about Jeremy.

  • TTNN

My take is that Lakers could not decide whether they should give up on Lin or not.

Kobe wanted to play, and he wanted to play his way. But that might not be what the Lakers want for a long time. They could give Kobe this year, and maybe next year for it, but it is obvious that if Kobe could not stay on the floor, and if the team keep losing, Lakers will lost all the viewer and fan base, and become irrelevant in the league.

So, go into next season, they will need to have something other than Kobe they could count on. So they need to test out Lin and see what he can do, and whether Lakers will try to somehow sign him back or simply let him go.

I think after this trade deadline for some many PG change teams, and so many PG did not fit to their new team, I realized that a lot of the team’s scout work is pretty bad, they don’t really know that well what they are getting. Thus I think for Lakers, even they had Lin for almost a season, they still don’t know how good he is, or he could be.

  • joyce ward

I am not worried about lin. Lin has proven to the league that he is a game changer, now what salary they want to pay him is another story.

  • joyce ward

Listen I live in LA and it always about who you know. I am not saying that Lakers suddenly jumped on the boat to sign lin, but Hollywood is all about who you are connected to. This was huge endorsement for lin. I look at their clientele, and these people are not light weights. Lin/Tiger Woods are the only American athletes that is endorsed by this company.

  • Brent Yen

I am not either. Lin said himself he is not worried…..lol

  • joyce ward

Lin is gone. Mitch likes lin and he knew lin was what the laker’s needed to infuse new blood. Scott said all of the right things about controlling kobe because Mitch already knew how kobe could be. Kobe actually thought lin’s game was ok, What kobe didn’t know that every challenge he threw at lin he fixed and succeeded at it. I remember the very moment the light came on for Kobe when he realized that lin wold still his thunder was during preseason, when kobe made the statement that he didn’t know that lin was really that fast. It went downhill foor lin after that.

  • lleepar

We have no disagreement on your point. But if the decision to give Jeremy ten games at the end of season actually does signal that the Lakers would want to move to sign Jeremy as a free agent, you have to wonder just how they could convince him at this late that that they really want him. BS has done a indelible job in convincing Jeremy just the opposite.

  • joyce ward

Oh, they will have kobe make a pitch to him, much like they did with Dwight.

  • Rick Johnson

I hope if he starts Davis goes to the starting lineup with him.

  • Briiick

Maybe the F/O is trying to do whatever they can under the marginalization of Kobe, to increase the slight chance of resiging Lin or somehow repair the damage done by KB/BS to FAs, knowing that next season is another disaster with Kobe’s contract.

  • John Lee

    I say carbonite…

  • Rookie75094

Dear Lord please continue to bless Jlin with good Stats games and keep him healthy for his next team.. Amen

  • JoeTeam

Just thought of something – why not try last 10 games with JLin at the helm of JHill, other starters who aren’t as tuned with Lin on 2nd unit.

2nd unit tanks, it’ll take Lin 3 games to get first unit moving. Then he can go into his weird substitutions. Losses well in hand. This season continues to be 15 game blocks of messing with team chemistry.

Smart coaching … until NBA starts to address this tank issue.

  • Rookie75094

Agreed…it is too late to start throwing scraps to Jlin. … are they hoping Jlin will change his mind because of these last 10 games? Tanking fools!!!!!

  • Rookie75094

Regarding Jlin starting for the last 10 games… bs is a stupid tanking fool to think that will change his mind about staying with the tankers next year.

  • Rookie75094

Even if the tankers trying to resign Jlin…it is already a day late and a dollar short…stu-pid fools

  • Rookie75094

Dave miller is a bs mouthpiece. .. he is already dead to me.

  • Game Thread 65 vs ATL is now open
    http://www.jlinportal.com/g65-atl-lal-game-thread/

Will Lin be able to rally his teammates to be more “Pro” mentally to be competitive vs the Hawks?

Byron might let Lin do more PnR to have a close game against the Hawks

Go JLin! Stay healthy & continue to play for the Audience of One!

  • stam

I agree, an excellent endorsement carefully chosen by Lin.

  • TTNN

what I’m saying is not about how Lin feels, i don’t think Lin want to play for Byron anymore. But for Lakers, Mitch and FO.

Somehow I always feel that Byron and Kobe are on the same page, but they are not on the same page with Mitch and Laker’s FO. There are consent fighting for the ground back and forth, you could tell when Byron will come out and say Kobe could play more seasons, and then Mitch come out saying the opposite, and then Kobe come to talk back tracked a little bit, and then Mitch come out supporting Byron. So there is give and take all the time. Byron knows it. And I think Mitch knows it too. Byron would have some freedom, and Mitch will request certain things too.

So i don’t think Mitch and Byron think the same way.

  • FrankW

I read somewhere regarding Paul’s IQ and saw 174. Oh well, it was John. Both of them are down to earth except John is all amped up when it
comes to Jeremy Lin and boxing. Paul is more laid back and yeah very
    knowledgeable on basketball.
