G63 NOP @ CHA Game Thread

The Hornets is enjoying 4-game winning streak after beating the Wolves. JLin was curiously subbed in with 22 seconds left after the Wolves cut a 9-pt lead to 5. After Wiggins scored to cut the lead to 3, JLin made the smart plays to get the ball upon inbound to get fouled and he made 4 clutch FTs to secure the win.

  1. It’s unknown if any back or ankle injuries affect JLin’s struggle in shooting.
  2. With Lee still getting more Playing Time after the trade, JLin will get more minutes only when the opponents make the game to be competitive and one of Kemba/Batum struggles.

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s hope and pray he figures out a way to bounce back strong  in his limited minutes to contribute with his shooting & scoring.

Pray that JLin is doing well despite of what’s going on.

  • Maknusia

    Amen

  • james brown

this is just one game for JLIN and the outcome will happen afterwards. He will keep going on forward till he meet his destiny how far or near might it be this time!

  • LinMad

I hope he gets calls when his face gets bashed in. This sport looks so rigged when they miss obvious calls like that. I’ve counted too many non calls this season it’s becoming the norm for Lin to get banged up. The ones that hurt the most are the ones where Lin has a hard time getting back up or he’s bleeding. I’m also tired of this coach not supporting Lin when he’s banged up. He needs to yell at the refs and get angry like he does when KW doesn’t get a call.

I really hope ESPN covers these Jeremy Lin non calls again so that NBA can clean up their act and investigate their refs. Refs are getting away with robbery.

I also can’t wait until this season is over. For Lin fans, this is probably one of the worst seasons for Lin in regards to being treated fairly. My first impression of Hornets was good during preseason when Lin got to play PG and scored/facilitated well in China and leading the team to 7-1. That was the end of Linsanity this season. When regular season came, Cliff kept making adjustments to the lineup so that the starters (Kemba Walker) would get the best pieces to work with and the best opportunity while Lin slowly got marginalized/tossed away in the corner to become a statue on offense. Meanwhile, Cliff rewards players that don’t even deserve to start over Lin. C. Lee comes in after half the season is over and gets 30+ minutes a game. His defense isn’t as good as Lin either. IMO, Lin’s defense has been so good lately, I would say he is the best defender on the team now.

wow…LAL won again…looking at the box score what surprises me…had they started to play teamball? pretty much everyone has AST…anyone watched the game, last night?

  • Maknusia

    Nice…..no call…pointers

Credits to @hc_jadc on twitter who have been exchanging tweets w/ Ronnie Nunn about Lin’s non-foul calls on flagrant hits. Ronnie Nunn suggested to complain and follow up with (NBA officials), but I think these videos should also be sent with a complaint to the general media/press to bring more attention to this problem. I really do. It’s high noon that someone from Lin’s camp or his fans with the right tools exercise the power of the press and bring this mistreatment against one AA NBA player to the forefront at this current time. If Psalm is up to it, there should be a thread designated to keeping track of all Lin’s hard fouls and missed calls for easy reference and for fans to access to make complaint easier. Just saying….

  • Maknusia

Thats a good idea…I could create a thread for No Calls….anytime we have the videos we could post it there.

    Gimme till weekend 😉

If someone has the time to compile past No Calls, that would be great.

Yes, let’s put out a call to everyone before each game and remind them to post the videos on the designated thread during or after the game. My suggestion is to Chronicle it like the regular calendar w/ date and game #, then the posters just need to post in the right place with description of the non-call fouls or miss calls. If they miss, then mods can easily copy all those videos to the appropriate thread. You know what to do. Thank you.

  • freemind

…now he’s a marketing ploy to get social media follow? unless he is given more respect on court, this is how i see it

  • At this point of the season, JLin’s role are:
    1. Marketing machine
    2. FT machine when your team needs 4 clutch FTs with 22 seconds left to win so the stars look good

Even when underutilized, JLin still offers a lot of values to any NBA teams.
Not ideal but it’s a leverage that many NBA players envy (especially the divas)

  • For some reason, @hornets thought they’ll play Hawks tonight, not Pelicans.
    Different bird LOL

  • adele

Very true. I’m not liking his role at this point. But good or bad, Lin is still our man.

  • adele

    Great!👏🏼

  • PPP

I only watched a few mins and that just happened that Jennings was playing. He tried to score every time he touched the ball but failed to score and played no d. He was benched in no time and never see the court again.

I wonder what would happen to lin if he plays the way Jennings was playing last night, pad his stats for his next contract and ignores what the coaches ask him to do as some have suggested.

  • Linzen

Always love Christine’s highlight. So glad she is back.

  • JJ Hui

That was so cruel n brutal!
Karma will follow each n everyone of those evil referees n players who did that intentionally!

Andrew, I think/hope there will be thread designated to post all Lin’s non-call fouls for future reference. Mod Maknusia will be working on it (see posts exchange below). Please post this video and all other videos there also in that thread once it’s up. Thank you.

  • There’s actually already a Sticky Post (page 2 on homepage) on this.

Thanks, Psalm. Somehow I missed it. Maybe you should post the link this thread upper right corner or somewhere on top of current thread. Inside the thread itself needs to be chronicled with game date, vs, team, game # similarly to this thread, to make it more consistent and easier to pinpoint like an archive system. So far so good, just needs more consistency and refinement. Thank you JAD 2456 for taking the lead to post the videos there…

  • This analytics training used by Lillard to help his explosiveness and symmetry can be helpful for JLin.
Lillard ranks in the NBA’s top five in pull-up jumpers and scoring drives, both of which take a speed burst.

  • Rick Johnson

These are the refs for today’s game. Anybody know them? We should have a section to track refs, track those that miss calls or make phantom calls on Lin to see if there is a pattern:

New Orleans @ Charlotte Courtney Kirkland Mitchell Ervin Scott Wall

    http://official.nba.com/referee-assignments/

Only ones I know off the top of my head are that Violet Palmer is bad. Lauren Holtkamp is good.

I don’t see Violet Palmer assigned anywhere. May have day off or hopefully she’s gone.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Or be like me, just don’t have one. It’s safer that way.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

NBA now is just becoming more and more of a joke. Their superstar treatment system has degraded the integrity of the game. Without Lin I definitely have better things to do than watching any NBA game.

  • Dorothy

yes, I hope Lin knows that there are so many his fans watching/following NBA just to support him. If not for him, NBA is irrelevant to our lives.

  • sws94

It may be worse now due to marketing, but the superstar treatment dates way back into the 80s at least. I think, on a positive note, the public is now more equipped to point it out through using videos on social media and then sending them off to league officials. But the league officials may be slow to change things.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Off topic, for those GOT fans like me haven’t seen season 6 trailers, goosebumps.

  • @JAD2456:disqus noted that the referee #22 Bill Spooner officiated 3 out of 6 games with Lin flagrant non-calls
I don’t see any of these 3 refs yet

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yes a lot worse now however, superstars in the 80′ were well deserved and respected. You either hate or love them, they all went out and play like their last game of the season.

Last ASG was the worst game to watch by a bunch of selfish, spoiled players.

  • BobbyH

Can’t wait. We know nothing, fans.

  • BobbyH

    LOL, the love is strong.

  • ok, let me think how we can post it on right corner effectively

  • Rick Johnson

Can’t wait. I have a countdown timer on my phone’s home screen. 46 more days until 6th season of GOT.

  • Rick Johnson

Oh thanks. I’ll bookmark that tread separately

  • Joe what do you know

Force Awakens let me down. Hope GOT lives up to expectation…

  • Rick Johnson

Just reviving Jon Snow would meet my expectations.

  • Dan Ang

C’mon NBA, does JLin have to get a concussion, get poked in the eye and be blinded, have a season ending injury (Heaven forbids) from these assassination attempts for the refs to call a foul….forget flagrant…just a foul. Sheesh!

  • Dan Ang

Regarding the cheap shots by Kobe and Carmelo, this is when JLin could have used Chandler Parson by his side…i loved it when he took revenge for Lin against Aldridge in the playoffs.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Ian Begley
    ESPN Staff Writer:

Charles Barkley told reporters on a conference call that he doesn’t think Phil Jackson’s triangle offense is a panacea for the Knicks. “It’s all about the players,” Barkley said, according to Newsday. “I’ve said this before: Without Kobe [Bryant] and Shaq [Shaquille O’Neal] and Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, the triangle is just a circle.”

And I say: Without Steve Nash or Jeremy Lin, MDA’s system is just a run marathon.

  • LAJane

This is a nice idea. Why not track and rate refs!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hornets has given us the impression that they are on a roll to play at its top form. In fact, they’re only playing against weak teams at home comparably to the situation that they were on a winning streak earlier w/o MKG. Plus they acquire Courtney Lee who is arguably better than Brian Roberts + PJ Hairston.
However, Walker and Batum are playing at their limit with long minutes. Zeller and Jefferson are arguably playing at their best right now. Plus Marvin Williams has been incredible in his 3s. That is the best the Hornets could be without Jeremy. They could overwhelm weak teams but they are still at the bottom 4 of the playoff teams. Hornets is not a contender w/o Lin.
Lin now is challenged to a defensive role that Walker isn’t. Lin is not needed in offense with Big Al, Lamb and others couldn’t wait to put up their shots. Lin only shoot when others don’t have good shots and is not used at his best. He’s just used as a role player when everything fails in the Hornets.
Lin has already proved what he could do at his best in this season. Now his usage is not high and he’s got time to heal and give his best at the playoff which I think the Hornets is a sure in with almost all their players healthy. This is a luxury that many teams don’t have.
Lin fans, things are not worse for Lin. In fact, Lin has time to get back to his best shape for the big moments to come. His shooting touch will come back when he has time to heal.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Chicken and egg puzzle.

  • LOL someone wants the T-Shirt more than JLin’s high-five

  • Yascar

Oh snap was just about to post that.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I have no doubt in my mind that Hawes is pulling the Asik injury to sit out instead of getting DNP-CD.

  • LinMad

lmao that kid didn’t even clap anyones hands being that close to them. I would rather reach out for the clap.

  • LinMad

ya I was wondering where he has been. Or maybe coach just doesn’t want to use him anymore.

  • sws94

He hit his warm up 3s behind Eric, Stephanie and Dell. Hopefully it’ll transfer into the game.

  • LinMad

I didn’t understand a thing Marvin Williams said but I like that guy

  • sws94

General rah rah stuff for his teammates.

  • Joe what do you know

Ohhhh I’d like to see him come back as a zombie and rip the Bolton’s apart…

  • Jim

    #ESL?

  • Linzen

    So, it is a DNP-HD? 🙂

  • Jim

So NO is trash another 20 min game for Lin I assume
Clifford is such a bad coach for Lin

  • LinMad

I said this team could be top 4 in EC and it looks like it’s going that way again.

  • LinMad

i don’t know we tend to lose the lead quickly

  • heart

Right now there’s ball movement. Every starters got touches. But we’ll see how things change when Lin comes in the game playing w/KW.

  • Jim

Clifford sticks with Lee either such a no brainer

  • Linzen

When Lin comes in, everybody except Lin got touches. sigh…

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin in

  • LinMad

    Lin in early, crowd cheers

  • Brewkowski

Man, he was getting hammered this game.

  • LinMad

    refs are blind again

  • 5:03 left in Q1
    That’s unheard of

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin wacked in the face.

  • LinMad

this is what happens when refs refuse to whistle. Opponents will give him more contact knowing he never gets the call.

  • LinMad

    wacked?

  • Alain Gervais

    yup typo

  • Lefon Jang

Lin was on his way to the hoop when he got wacked

  • LinMad

Lin had that rebound…but Lamb and Al…

  • another thing to add to the video.

  • Alain Gervais

    It was Lamb mostly.

  • Jim

so greedy then again those 2 have chips on their shuolders

  • LinMad

    who’s compiling the next video?

  • Linzen

I wouldn’t be too surprised if Lin was walked in the face…we are talking about NBA here

  • i don’t know

  • Alain Gervais

To be fair to Al big man should get first dibs on rebounds

  • Jim

    Yep
and cant really get mad at Lamb
    Man signs an extension 14mpg..

  • LinMad

but its Al…there’s a reason why the guards go for rebounds. I can say the same thing about Frank.

  • heart

Lin got foul on that layup but no call! Who was that ref? Keep tap on this please…

  • LinMad

ya he did get fouled, was slapped on arm

  • Alain Gervais

Lin is clearly in a funk offensively. Hopefully he getss out of it soon

  • LinMad

Lin in early but no results yet.

  • sws94

It was a foul. Should have gone to the line for 2 shots.

  • Alain Gervais

    lol

  • Alain Gervais

    it was called

  • only drew 2 fouls to help get into penalty

  • Alain Gervais

Lin not involved in the offense at all

  • Jim

    WHats new lol

  • LinMad

i thought only 1 foul and one non call

  • Alain Gervais

    since the allstar game

  • Jim

neither is Al Jeff to be fair

  • LinMad

Al gets to do his post moves though. They feed him the ball more than Lin

  • sws94

    2.

  • heart

See no ball movement. Lin is standing in corner 3. When Lin is in it’s for KW to up his stats. He holds on to the ball or pass to Kam.

  • Alain Gervais

he got the ball atleast 3 times since coming in. Lin got one and it was a pass from al

  • LinMad

KW seems to score more when Lin is in spreading the floor.

  • Alain Gervais

Watching Lins run to get worse stats is getting annoying

  • LinMad

Lin’s not going to shoot well like that. He’s not a catch and shoot guy. He needs to touch the ball more.

  • Jim

Lin at least now knows that Clifford isn’t gonna let him play his game lol
3rd time when they lied to Lin about his role
Hope Lin learns his lesson this off season

  • Alain Gervais

Lin has a 13 per right now

  • Jim

at this point I’d rather he sit out the remainder of the season

  • sws94

Didn’t look good coming off of his hands. Too much arc on it.

  • DX

Lin must get the open shoot.

  • Just a bit short on corner 3 ..
    Just keep shooting, JLin!

  • LinMad

ya i knew it wasn’t going in as soon as the ball left his hands

  • takemeback2reaganyears

If they don’t call smack on the face how are they gonna call a tap on his arm?

  • Alain Gervais

Lin seem to be incapable of putting a full season together

  • LinMad

I don’t think Lin was expecting he would get the ball though. Man I miss when he actually was involved with offense.

  • JoeTeam

Let’s GO Lin … time to be efficient this 20-25 mins!

  • heart

It is Cliff’s plan for KW to iso and score more when Lin is in w/him. Lin’s defense keeping the floor open or drawing defense away from him (KW).

  • Jim

Lol Batum was mad at Al Jeff but he is a really good post player

  • Good to see JLin handles the ball for 1st time in early Q2

  • LinMad

    when was he mad?

  • karen sy

early negativity here…i’ll be down voting some

  • JoeTeam

can you down vote? I thought that got eliminated.

  • Jim

he wanted him to pass it out

  • LinMad

    it doesn’t even show up

  • people were down from the last game.

Hope they keep the faith as JLin gets warmed up

  • Linzen

Go Lin! You are much better than Tony Douglas. Be Aggressive!!!!!

  • LinMad

wth was that. This ref is stupid. Such a late call

  • LinMad

he’ll get his chance. He’ll find his opportunities

  • Alain Gervais

    0-3

  • Lefon Jang

    Cody wasted an assist!

  • LinMad

man i wish Lin drove in more but maybe his body can’t take it anymore. Either way, Lin isn’t shooting enough per game like he used to.

  • Guest

Hornets do not need Lin for this game. Just do not get hurt Lin.go with the flow

  • KWC

    He has 0 stats

  • Alain Gervais

they are not running PNR for him. Posting al everything he touches the ball

  • Lin missed the 3. Then saved a ball for a potential assist. But Zeller got fouled :[

  • too bad 🙁

  • LinMad

ya that’s not his game. He has regressed ever since Al joined the bench. Al also clogs the lane so maybe that’s why Lin doesn’t drive anymore.

  • sws94

Lin should take shorter jump shots now.

  • aras

Lin with 0-3 im done why do i keep torturing myself with this when i have work in the morning….

  • Lefon Jang

A big boy like him should have just gone up and dunk it

  • Dorothy

    2222222222222222222

  • Alain Gervais

    finally 22222

  • LinMad

Now Lin can drive since Al is sitting

  • Alain Gervais

Lin seems to be struggling to find a spot with al on the court

  • LinMad

    exactly what i see too.

  • Smart play by Lin to drive inside and drained the easy bank shot! 😀

  • zxcvb

Lin is mentally checked out. That epic CLE game got him benched and he hasn’t been the same.

As a real starting PG, he’s elite. As a backup SG, he’s hot and cold.

  • Alain Gervais

Al is the issue for Lin. all of a sudden the he has life

  • Lefon Jang

Al is like a fixture, he doesn’t get bigs out of the paint. So its hard for lin to drive.

  • LinMad

    Lin drawing fouls

  • yes. Al is camping inside

  • Alain Gervais

    Its Al

  • DX

Bad feeling and less ball in hands, make Lin scoring harder and harder.

  • on Ryan Anderson now

  • LinMad

i don’t think he’s mentally checked out. He still puts 100% effort in defense.

  • zxcvb

He played pretty well alongside him earlier. Not ideal, but much better than this.

  • zxcvb

Effort is there, focus is not. That killer instinct.

  • I am The Jason

4 quick points. I feel a little bit better now

  • yes, 2 FTs!!
18 FT straight now in 5 games

  • zxcvb

Yep. His stroke is fine. His confidence/swag is not.

  • LinMad

Lin’s 3 isn’t falling, he should be driving more

  • a little hesitant .. still trying to find his rhythm and right spot

  • LinMad

ya his confidence has been taken a dive ever since Cliff boosted KW’s touches/minutes and reduced Lin’s touches/minutes. Also C. Lee starting over Lin was probably the worst feeling

  • Alain Gervais

Lin looks much better with this unit. Al and datum is too slow for Lin to succeed. Almost like the Lakers all over again. I said before the all star break Al going to the bench is the worst thing for him.

  • zxcvb

I like his persistence but it’s clear he’s not shooting confidently. Hesitated for a split second on that miss.

  • Zeller is definitely better because he doesn’t clog the paint as much as Big Al so Lin can drive more

  • grover chang

I don’t know what he has to do to fix these three s but he is better then this 0-3.

  • LinMad

Al isn’t a PnR big. That’s the biggest problem.

  • grover chang

Is Lin out? Have to say his missed 3 hurts the offense.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin has to adjust to this style shift. Wish Lin had more consistency in the year. Then we would get consistent stats

  • KWC

    Too many dud games recently.

  • grover chang

Why did Lin change his form?

  • Kemba/Marvin in for Lin/Frank with 5:28 left in Q2

  • Alain Gervais

The hornets bench unit is slower and mostly plays a haif court style

  • zxcvb

He doesn’t have consistent usage. He was doing great even as SG for a 15-20 game stretch when he got regular touches. Obviously not happy with his stats, but no one can succeed with his erratic minutes, touches.

Look at Lawson in Houston! How did that “All-Star caliber” PG do next to Harden?

  • LinMad

ya Lin’s role is always changing, there’s players on this team that all they need to do is get in place and score. Lin is playing hard on both ends and has to work with so many pieces that aren’t the right pieces. While also not being empowered to be the PG most the time.

  • KWC

So, in early out early, no change in play time.

  • zxcvb

I expect Lin’s swag to return for the playoffs, when he’ll be needed against GOOD teams, till then…YAWN.

Another big summer for Lin. Play 30+mpg at PG and he’s elite. Otherwise, it’s going to be up and down, hot and cold.

  • Alain Gervais

He is getting no usage at all right now thats what i meant by style change. His role on this team has been like a yoyo

  • aras

he is not getting consistent touches or playtime for him to get consistent stats seriously.

  • Alain Gervais

    always

  • zxcvb

It’s unreasonable to ask a player to randomly change roles every month, which is what Lin does! It’s like asking John Wall to be a spot-up SG. He’d do terrible that way. But as PG, he’s great.

  • Alain Gervais

Thats what i said. thats been his career. his usage and stats go together. If his stats is low look at his usage

  • DX

Opposite with last season, Lin did worse after ASB. Don’t know why?

  • aras

    ah ok misinterpeted.

  • Alain Gervais

Thats how Bench players get treated unfortunately. Some bench players have way more consistency then Lin

  • Reduced PT and touches in favor of Lee

  • golfhacker

He is playing OUT OF POSITION. Plain and simple.

  • KWC

This is like mutual funds. Past performance does not guarantee future performance.

  • Alain Gervais

Not just reduced but changed role

  • grover chang

That is very true since his second season with Houston. I just feel Lin can always overcome these obstacles. He’s Lin.

  • LinMad

and the other seasons too. That Cavs game really brought Lin down. Maybe Lin should have lost on purpose so KW doesn’t feel like Lin is taking his shine.

  • LinMad

If you watch Lin during preseason and compare it to now, you’ll see the big difference in role. It’s all about coach empowerment.

  • Alain Gervais

    It all surrounds Als return

  • LinMad

Not just that, I still thought Lin’s role was changed and reduced when regular season started. Ofc, he wont’ get to play like that when there is already a star on the team like KW.

  • Lefon Jang

his rotation minutes are very predictable. I think he knows when he’s coming in or out. He’s really not doing that poorly.

  • wandertheglobe

sharp shooter Ryan Anderson 0-7 if there’s any consolation

  • Dorothy

    so quiet here

  • KWC

Everyone will have an occasional dud game, even Curry. Problem is Lin’s duds are a bit too frequent.

  • Pete Roces

Stupid org will only cater to fake stars, these kind of teams will never go far, at most first round exits, not letting Lin play his position, reducing his minutes in favor of Lee, no plays or pnr design for Lin, all these only to please the ballhogs, fake stars. Lin has learned his lessons, never trust anything coaches promises, stick to only one man who only believe you. Only join MDA’s team.

  • heart

When Lin drives to the basket we see opponents packed the paint so much, but when it’s KW we don’t see them pack in like they do w/ Lin or foul him as hard? I think bc teammates open up the paint and draw out opponents for KW, but Lin constantly have to fight against opponents and his own team bc they don’t move to allow him space.

  • aras

Hornet dont need a backup Pg to be honest. they could bring in any one to take that spot. Kemba will play his 36-40 min anyway so might aswell have kept brian roberts. LIN PLEASE go to a team that is in DIRE need of a PG next season. PLAYOFFS OR NO PLAYOFFS TIME FOR PERSONAL SUCCESS.

  • grover chang

Maybe then gifting Lee a starting spot after lin working his butt off was depressing.

  • Lefon Jang

If you define his success as helping the team win then he’s going a great job. Just not his personal stats.

  • LinMad

I’m actually grateful that Lin is performing not as well as we all know he can. This only makes Cliff want to empower Lin more on the offensive end. I think that is the main reason why Cliff let Lin in early today. Cause Lin has shown he can defend well and he wasn’t rewarded for it on the offensive end for many games. But still, I think if Lin falls off, the org will take a big hit before the season is even over. I know the Lin fans are upset and the Hornets organization probably knows this too.

It’s karma in a way. If you treat someone poorly he’s not going to always give you good back. It’s better if Lin gives bad back for being treated poorly.

  • KWC

Not really empowering. He came in early but also left early, so just the window was shifted. True empowering should be more involvement in offense.

  • Dorothy

To be honest, if MDA has to, he will dump Lin anytime. I have learned in NBA and most business, no loyalty or comradery. Everyone ONLY looks after his own interest. Lin is the exception and that is why we love him.

  • LinMad

Agreed, but I think Cliff tried to involve Lin in the offense today. He seem to get more touches than previous games but is it only temporary? You’re right that it isn’t empowering Lin to do well on offense. If Cliff wants to truly empower Lin, he needs to play him at PG more and draw PnR plays.

  • sws94

I have a feeling Lin is injured. He’s just missing something in his movement and looks like he’s looked before when his back was bothering him. He’ll never admit it, but he just doesn’t look right.

  • sws94

What has he done in this game? He drew 2 fouls and has 2 points. He missed 3 open 3s. Defensively, so far, he’s been average.

  • GameWatcher

Looks like that to me also… hopefully he gets it together before playoffs

  • LinMad

I don’t think so. I just think his role has been really changed and reduced throughout the season. I’ve never seen a player get so many different changed roles in one season before. It’s obvious that Cliff keep changing his role so other players like KW or Batum can get theirs. Also the unit Lin plays with is always changing too.

  • blubell
  • sws94

He’s done better with the same role. The only thing that has changed is more Al in his unit. Other than that, the same conditions where Lin has come in and made things happen are present. He had a decent amount of PT in the first half. Just couldn’t get it going.

  • aras

I think he has checked out to be honest. His face says it all to me. But i may be wrong. i secretly hope that i am not heeh heeh

  • grover chang

Probably what is broken is his heart, but it doesn’t stay broken.

  • wandertheglobe

Lin is just an insurance policy in case Kemba’s injurry. There’s no reason for Lin to be back if everything is at status quo

  • sws94

Why would he check out? He’s on a team that is going to the playoffs.

  • Lefon Jang

unless of course they offer him big $$$

  • LinMad

Yes, Al really makes it hard for Lin to score cause he’s best when driving in/penetrating. But now he’s resorted to catching and shooting at the 3.

  • aras

Because of the way he has been played recently. Courtney lee taking away big chunk of minutes. Him playing with Al. Everyone on his unit looking to play PG. AL AL AL AL AL. playing less than 25 minutes which is ridiculous even when he has good games. It just looks to me that charlotte and him are parting ways.

  • wandertheglobe

Hope Lin will show up on Saturday for his bobble head night against Houston

  • blubell
  • Lefon Jang

Lee is getting that corner pass

  • grover chang

Lin doesn’t seem to play any harder against former teams either.

  • LinMad

All signs show that Hornets don’t want to keep Lin. If they did, they would have started Lin when MKG got injured. Lin just keeps getting stepped on over and over.

  • LinMad

as a Hornet starter* <-even worse

  • Lefon Jang

your offense is only as good as your teammates want you to be.

  • sws94

Then run PnRs and give and goes with him. Lin isn’t used to Al. If he had Al in there all along, they’d play better together.

  • LinMad

I agree, there were some games where C. Lee wasn’t allowed to shoot a lot

  • grover chang

Pelicans suck. A miracle they are even within 10 points.

  • Dorothy

Maybe KW wants to kick Lin out just like Melo and Harden.

  • Lefon Jang

it’s very possible. Lin is definitely a threat!

  • wandertheglobe

    who’s guarding holiday?

  • sws94

I don’t think it is much about Lee except for perhaps Lee finishing games over Lin which makes no sense to me. I don’t know if Charlotte can win without Lin’s efforts. When they needed him last night, he delivered. They know they need him and they are in a playoff run. He’s needed for that.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

They’re praising their SG starter for first double digit game?

  • LinMad

it’s possible. But in a way I feel that KW feels bad for doing this and is now allowing Lin to slowly creep back in. Not too much though. I noticed the last 2 games Lin got a little more touches than previous games. And the reason KW would allow this is because he’s having good games lately. And well, the team is in good shape right now. I think if Lin just quit on this team, we’d fall off the playoffs.

  • DX

    So empty.

  • GameWatcher

NOP is coming back because the starters are not playing D.

  • golfhacker

Because he knows his role is not going to change in the playoffs.

  • LinMad

The biggest scare for this organization is upset Lin fans. I predict Lin will get more touches in the future but never enough to threaten KW.

  • aras

If they need him so much they sure as h*** are doing a world class crap job on showing it arent they? what is he a security blanket when things go to h***? seriously if he is so damn important stop devaluing him on the floor with iffy minutes and touches. and some of it is on Lin as well i wish he had that DGAF attitude and just snatched the damn ball from the scrubs on his unit. its ridiculous. yeah he is important. its bull

  • Dorothy

nah, if so they would not have done what they have done. They know clearly that Lin fans are upset about the usage of Lin.

  • Lefon Jang

you think? some of lin’s fans are quite annoying.

  • LinMad

Yes they do, but they haven’t felt the rebellion yet. When they do they will start to panic.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    I doubt that very much.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Stop dreaming.

  • LinMad

They think the Lin bobblehead is a hot sale, but imagine if Lin was actually empowered to be PG. They are missing a lot of sales right now due to stupid decisions.

  • LinMad

I’m not, I see it happening already. They are trying to involve Lin a little more but not too much.

  • sws94

Because Lin is needed when the game is on the line and it seems that is when Lin really gets going. It’s odd, Lin doesn’t really do that much when others aren’t going but once they falter, Lin to the rescue.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

It’s giving away for free. Not hot sale.

  • LinMad

They are marketing it for a reason.

  • Lefon Jang

    while we’re talking it’s a 5 pts game!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Because they need him, not because his fans.

  • LinMad

This is why Lin is important.

  • Lefon Jang

Kemba is lower to the ground.

  • golfhacker

I have a conspiracy theory. The NBA purposely scheduled Charlotte to play Houston in the 2nd game of B2B assuming Jeremy will have a bad performance against the Rockets. And the Rox fans and broadcasters will have a field day against Jeremy. I’ll take off my tin foil hat now.

  • sws94

Lee is actually playing well tonight, however. Otherwise, Lin is better, yes.

  • Alain Gervais

good to see douglas getting a shot somewhere else

  • LinMad

Lin always seems like Cliff’s reboot/restart button when everything goes downhill.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

To sell more tickets but they are not scare of Lin fans.

  • GameWatcher

Come on, bring Lin back in!

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin in

  • heart

Cliff sees lead is in danger, brings Lin in to feed Al and KW.

  • Alain Gervais

    good shot just off

  • Alain Gervais

Lin has to guard a hot holliday thanks to lee

  • DX

    No excuse for missing that.

  • LinMad

this starter unit is really something…losing 2 big leads last game and now losing another big lead today.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOLOL That’s the Hornets starters job. They are really good in it:-)

  • Dorothy

hey, but they said KW is AllStar caliber after the big night

  • Lefon Jang

absolutely no room to drive with al inside. he’s posting every possession!

  • LinMad

this is when the team needs to focus on defense and not so much about offense. Take Al out. He’s just a full offensive post up guy.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I hold my breath now every time Lin makes jump shot.

  • LinMad

I blame the coach. All his shots are more forced looking. With limited touches/minutes/role, he has to make something out of nothing.

  • DX

I blame too. But no one else care the reason, only the stats.

  • heart

Asik only played 5:49minutes, 0pts on pelicans.

  • Alain Gervais

    Wth was that

  • Alain Gervais

    1-7

  • LinMad

    LMAO Lin the contact magnet

  • aras

BAHAHAHA NO FOUL OK REF EFF YOU

  • DX

If I was Lin, will use the ball hit ref’s face acting by accident.

  • Alain Gervais

This is one of the worst shooting slumps Lin has been in his career

  • LinMad

last 2 games Lin has not got any calls.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Why did Lin stop attacking?

  • aras

Easily Lins worst year to me. up there with the lakers a season to forget so far. take away a few games where he actually got to play his game.

  • DX

Must say Kemba is a tough man, he is barely injured.

  • BobbyH

Stay off the traffic and reserve energy when defend?

  • aras

    deserved a call?

  • Alain Gervais

His previous shooting style was better then this one. I know its suppose to come along but we have been waiting a long time. If this continue Lin should not opt to o his contract

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Not one of, it’s the worst. This has gotten to end.

  • DX

    Like Harden.

  • heart

Does not get hit hard in the face/nose/head/arms like Lin. He does not get shoved to fall on his back like Lin.

  • aras

I hope he opts out as soon as the season ends. plenty of teams will take him dont have to be playoff teams.

  • Alain Gervais

    Not with these stats

  • aras

You either get fouled or you dont. he gets fouled constantly therefor he deserves the call.

  • Dorothy

    222222222222

  • LinMad

that doesn’t mean anything. He got hit multiple times and no call. He deserves those calls. How are u tying his shooting slump into getting hit?

  • Alain Gervais

    more of that 22222

  • aras

he is averaging 11.7 points and 3 assist while playing less than 40 procent PG what are you talking about?

  • LinMad

    Did Lin get hit again?

  • Alain Gervais

Thats Lin, not this passive one we have seen the last few weeks

  • I think any change is better including backup PG for GSW.

When MKG comes back next year, there’s no more PT.
    No PnR, why stay?

  • zxcvb

Lin plays PG…makes two buckets in 30s.

Nothing more need be said. Play PG, he’s elite. Play SG and he’s hot and cold.

  • LinMad

    22222222222 again

  • Alain Gervais

his stats was better last year

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Can’t watch the games but read a little. What will the fans say about JLin now. He hit 2 of 2 now:-)

  • sws94

That’s it, Lin. Drive to the hoop and finish. That’s your bread and butter. When they need Lin, he gets going.

  • LinMad

SCREW THE REFS. HE GONA GO APESH** CAUSE OF THOSE NON CALLS

  • BobbyH

When Kemba out, Lin takes off.

  • Oh yessss.. Lin with 2 straight drives… 8pts now!

  • DX

    That’s the Lin play.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    HESSSSSSSSS BACKKKKKKKKK

  • Lefon Jang

Lin’s smart enough to go the opposite side of Al

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Believe fans can stop bashing JLin now.

  • Dan Ang

    Again, quality over quantity.

  • Never count Linsanity out =)

  • aras

he was playing PG man PG he has the ball in his hands. HE is playing less than 40 procent this year. His season has not been great after the cleveland game. but he has done plenty to get offers.

  • zxcvb

Yes and no. He never left as PG…but he’s not going to shoot well playing backup SG.

  • Rick Johnson

Lin is so sneaky. Follows the Pelican’s big into the paint behind his back. Doesn’t even know he’s escorting Lin to the basket.

  • LinMad

LIN: No calls? That’s fine, I’ll just play more aggressively.

  • Alain Gervais

His is getting him self in chaotic moments. Where there a lot of contact and its close. Before he would set himself up for a good call. now he just run to the rim and hope for a call. It don’t work that way. You have to get a player off balance. If he goes straight up they won’t call it.

  • zxcvb

MDA is Lin’s only hope. Only coach who will play him at PG.

Kemba will probably come back in and Lin will go ice cold again.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

We will take what Lin can give.

  • Patented Lin move =)

  • LinMad

i’ve seen him do that many times before

  • zxcvb

Heh. True. He’s doing what he can.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Best hope not only hope.

  • Lefon Jang

What’d you know, it’s the forth quarter!

  • So … it turns out Lin was saving his legs until Kemba checked out 😀

  • LinMad

    Finally a freaking call

  • zxcvb

So easy to play with endless confidence/support. Explains Kemba’s first good season this year.

Lin has only had support for a couple weeks in NYK.

  • Alain Gervais

season isn’t over he can make it better

  • zxcvb

I used to believe that…not sure anymore. Clifford is smart but still treated Lin like a scrub to please Kemba and Batum. Only MDA can be trusted.

  • Lin’s smart move to make Perkins jump to draw foul

  • That’s 20 straight FTs in a span of 5 games, ladies & gents =)

  • zxcvb

Nothing wrong with his stroke…it’s mental focus/confidence.

  • Alain Gervais

Omg that no call was crazy

  • aras

    i hope he does.

  • Dorothy

    was about to say that

  • sws94

This is ridiculous. Lin fouled again and not going to the line.

  • Lefon Jang

looks like offense is running through Lin now

  • aras

Telling you the refs are out to get him

  • LinMad

Lin being robbed like usual by the refs.

  • wow.. blatant non-call

  • aras

    stop it AL !

  • LinMad

why are we passing to Al ?

  • Alain Gervais

    stop going to al

  • Lin blanket D on Jrue

  • zxcvb

Still can’t get obvious calls. Some refs just refuse to call anything in favor of Lin.

  • Lefon Jang

    almost and 1

  • LinMad

    Mr. 4th quarter

  • aras

YES he got his averages important!

  • zxcvb

I hate to say it but Lin has proven “trouble” with black refs, esp. older ones.

  • JJ Hui

Sorry Psalm I accidentally touched the flag button!

  • 22 straight FTs

  • LinMad

Lin is so useful because if he can’t shoot perimeter shots, he can drive and get to the line.

  • heart

No foul call again with lots of body contacts inside and hand check on Lin. Refs deliberately swallow whistle on Lin.

  • zxcvb

Only one ref is calling Lin fairly this game.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin got his stats I’m happy

  • Dorothy

    Lin out

  • LinMad

wow take Lin out? he’s the only one scoring and Cliff takes him out.

  • zxcvb

    Lin makes it a double-digit lead…rewarded with a benching.

    GREAT COACHING.

  • BobbyH

    Black hole comes in.

  • aras

Lin out but he got his averages im happy eff this team all good baby!

  • Rick Johnson

Lin out. He’s like the only person scoring on the team!

  • Lefon Jang

    it’s the 6 minutes mark

  • sws94

Idiotic move by Clifford. Lin finally gets aggressive and looks like himself and he goes out? Dumb.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Let’s see how many points Hornets is going to lose.

  • LinMad

I wouldn’t be surprised if Cliff puts Lin in at like 1 minute mark out of desperation.

  • aras

not surprised. Cliff is a coward no respect for the man.

  • golfhacker

    Let me guess which one.

  • JoeTeam

it’s looking like he’s going to need Lin.

  • DX

    Go Pelicans!!!

  • Jim

    Now lose

  • Jim

    thats been established

  • LinMad

This coach is only consistent at one thing. Treating Lin unfairly and kissing KW’s butt.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    107 v 103 with 5:44 left.

  • JoeTeam

i dunno, his plan just doesn’t include Lin until he thinks … wait, I’m going to lose. Then he puts Lin back in.

  • Dorothy

make it 2 things, and only when he is desperate he will play Lin

  • Lefon Jang

3 minuts in 6 minutes out. that’s his rotation unless they go small down the stretch.

  • JJ Hui

Ha so close n Lin out? KW is not a hero! Watch out!!!

  • LinMad

ya like last game and the previous games where Lin had to save the game in the final seconds.

  • JJ Hui

    Lets go Pelican!!!

  • Dorothy

    3 pt game now LOL
    go Pelicans

  • Rick Johnson

They will lose the lead and Cliff will put him back in the last 1 minute.

  • heart

Want Tony Douglas to do well and get his winning shot in this game for Pelicans.

  • LinMad

Idk who to be more angry at. The refs or Clifford?

  • DX

    History repeating, lesson relearning.

  • spiderman

    They should get married

  • I wonder if Lin will check in with 22 seconds left again today.
That would be very funny LOL

  • LinMad

he might if its still close and the rookies/new players mess up

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOLOL They still have 5 pts leave with less than 5 min to go. I’d prefer them to lose if JLin isn’t in:-)

  • DX

    Cliff like funny.

  • sws94

Clifford is disgusting me now. I know Lee had a good game but this is Lin time and he was getting aggressive. Get Lin in this game soon and not in the last 12 seconds.

  • LinMad

    Whatever, Lin got 12 pts.

  • Dorothy

    tie hahaha

  • Lefon Jang

just imagine his shooting comes back

  • He desperately tries to win with Lee as the closer

  • blubell

    Haha kema miss

  • aras

i just gotta say AD Got GOAT potential maybe?

  • JoeTeam

    No CHA Offense.

  • LinMad

    GJ benching Lin lol

  • Alain Gervais

Do people not know how to play defense. Why is Anderson guarding Kemba

  • Alain Gervais

No wonder NOP sucks. Terrible coaching

  • Dorothy

Go Pelican, no Lin no win

  • GameWatcher

    Abandon ship….

  • Maknusia

    Sigh

  • Alain Gervais

I wish but they don’t know what they are doing defensively. Marvin being guarded by a smaller man. Kemba being guarded by Anderson. Its a real mess

  • Jim

Clifford is worse than McHale and Byron

  • LinMad

If this is how CHA coaching is going to be, I don’t see us going far. Lin cannot be used sparingly like this.

  • Lefon Jang

    they got the switch

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Clifford will try to get away with a win without Lin on the bench if he can.

  • LinMad

ya this is the day he will try that cause he can’t have that happen again like last game. I think KW was pissed.

  • JJ Hui

He is like McHale now, CC likes to win n credit KW without Lin! Whenever the lead is big, Lin will ride the pine!

  • aras

This is why charlotte wont do a thing against the good teams.

  • Alain Gervais

    Nop is a terrible team

  • Papillon

    NOP switches on the picks.

  • sws94

Why? He himself said Lin is big in closing minutes. Lin can’t be happy just sitting there knowing how big he comes up and has come up this year for this team to someone who is just brought in. Lee is not as good as Lin closing games. And he took Lin out when he started to heat up. That’s dumb.

  • Jim

nah they let Lin play when he played well

  • Alain Gervais

    Has that ever worked

  • Jim

    Lin better speak up

  • Either Cliff or FO chose politics over basketball to make Lee trade artificially better

  • wandertheglobe

Notice that Lamb doesn’t get much playing time lately either

  • JLin Fan from Australia

So bad Pelicans can’t win the game. Sad!

  • sws94

Well, it is what it is. You know my only reason to support Clifford was Lin finishing games. If that’s done, then I’m done with him.

  • Lefon Jang

Tony Douglas used to backup LIn

  • LinMad

he never has and I think its warranted cause Lamb doesn’t know his role. he likes to do things his own way.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Batum is playing 40+ game.

  • Alain Gervais

he got 14 more minutes then Lin today

  • Dorothy

    is he starting now?

  • JoeTeam

actually Toney and Lin was behind Toney at Knicks. The Toney was very classy when Linsanity took off, and he was behind Lin for a spell at the Rox, right?

  • Lefon Jang

Lamb is terrible. They should not have given him that contract based on a few pre-season games!

  • sws94

I’m positive on this game. First half dreadful but 4Q Lin woke up and scored like 10 in just the quarter. Some of the old get to the rim urgency came back and those points were big. The positivity is about Lin only.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I almost guess my JLin stat right except he has no assists:-( Too bad!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

At least Lin got his average points

  • aras

I got work in 2 hours. Why do you do this to me lin? you scored 12 points so im all good baby! score 12 more on friday and ill be fistbumping all the way to the casino!

  • sws94

Batum is not clutch. I know I get knocked for saying Kemba is, but, he really is.

  • sws94

Most of them came in the 4Q.

  • aras

yep good to see him penetrating when the outside shot just aint falling. I have confidence next season it will be good.

  • you’re very dedicated =)

Just watch the highlights if you need more sleep .. hehe

  • Dan Ang

You don’t have to lie, the numbers are there.

  • sws94

He needs to work on floaters, but yes, his shot is broken so drive it to the hole.

  • JoeTeam

Low mileage on Lin, not too bad. Boring though, because we know they aren’t playing up to potential (CLE win).

  • aras

Its Lin and D’rose something about them hard to describe. But i love watching Lin play his game it’s like watching bruce of basketball.

  • Alain Gervais

well back to NFl free agency. This year is just not his year. His shot is still absent as it has been all year. All his points on lay ups. With his stats as it is. Free agency don’t look good. Don’t know if it was wise to change his shooting form while in a contract year

  • aras

Agree with you Sws. I honestly dont care much if he has outside shot or not. what i want him to train on this off season is handles floaters midrangers he needs to get that in and i have confidence he will.

  • Jim

There’s no way Lin should play more mins than or take the ball away from Kemba
but Lee has no business playing more mins than Lin either
Coach doesnt like you, why does he always get sucked into a bad situation
At this point, he has to blame himself and his agent a little bit

  • grover chang

You ever have a hard jar to open, you then loosen it, and then someone twists it off right after you with barely any effort. That is how tonight felt.

  • heart

NOTICE: Whenever the lead is down or in danger, Cliff would take KW off the floor and insert Lin to return or secure the lead. So KW does not have to play under pressure and from behind. So of course, when you play with org and coaching support and you don’t have to worry getting pulled or yelled at like Lin has to, you would do well.

  • Alain Gervais

He usually takes datum or lee out

  • JoeTeam

    ok nice day all …

  • JLin is doing the right thing to score first at this point.
He just needs to keep scoring 10-14pts and keep his legs fresh.
He knows the Hornets tried to close with Lee due to politics.

His time will come very soon.
Cliff is dangerously playing his stars for 37-40min

Lee played well tonight but Lin is a bigger impact player by far. And Lin should close. Lee has more size on D and plays good D, but he is not that winning player Lin is. And if Cliff doesn’t wise up and get Lin back closing, he may lose Lin’s enthusiasm to play on this team. Lin likes closing and I don’t think is happy that he is not closing close games now.

  • Alain Gervais

    Lee closed for holiday.

  • he’ll be needed when the time is right… playoff!

  • grover chang

Prime D’rose and Lin was a short dream of mine too right after New York.

  • aras

Kemba is clutch and i dont even like him as a player. great handles and great clutchgene.

  • Lee can provide good D but he’s not a foul-drawing machine like Lin in the offensive end.

Only tough teams will force Cliff to close with Lin, rather than Lee

  • aras

Yeah that was great still remember the block lin had on Rose. man still cant believe how fast time went.

  • grover chang

Agreed on the coaching but pretty valiant in the pelican players to come back, they ran out of gas in the end. Only had 9 players dressed.

  • noob

missed the game how did JLin do?

  • aras

    mr 4th quarter bruh.

  • Alain Gervais

They didn’t need that. Lin is a game changer type of player in if needed. Thats what I’m seeing. That was probably Cliffs original idea

  • heart

Does not matter who gets pulled first. Observe, when the lead is down or in danger, 9/10 times Lin is in for that stretch to pull back the lead. KW does not have to play under pressure like Lin. Cliff would let him stay in to get stats if he shoots well or not. The difference is KW gains confidence from knowing that Cliff and Hornets have his back to make him shine. That’s the luxury that Lin does not have.

  • grover chang

The scariest thing about Lin’s missed shots to me is that they were all off in different parts of the rim. I hope he gets his shooting form literally straighten out.

  • grover chang

Hornets take for granted what Lin does for the team. Lin is the invisible man (to refs as well). The only player at tonights game who could appreciate how good it is to play with Lin versus not having Lin is…..

    The big O, Omar Asik.

  • I see both Lin and Lamb have been phased out in PT over Lee.

Lamb had worse stats (8pts in 15mpg) than Lin (10pts in 21mpg) over the last 6 games.
Lin’s clutch ability to draw FTs (28-29) is the difference. Lamb only had 2-5 FTM

    Lin is simply a SURVIVOR
He waits for the right time to surge soon

  • adele

Wait, harden has been amazing too. And what happen to Rox now after Lin left them? Carmelo has been amazing too all the time but what happened to them? Please people just don’t take the short road. Lin already put his mark. The reason why I don’t want him to help this team but well, can’t do otherwise because he needs to work for his pay. Don’t worry guys, God knows where he is putting Lin next season. Trust in Lin. Trust in God.

  • grover chang

    AMEN

  • PPP

Agree with this. Clifford just wants the role players, other than AL, to play d more than scoring. Lee has the the size advantage over lin when playing alongside KW. Thats why Lamb cant get more playing time even he shoots better than lin in terms if fg%.

  • heart

Asik played for 6:04min w/ 0pts. What’s up with that? Gentry is not good to him.

  • sws94

I agree. Great handles and clutch. I don’t love his game but those 2 attributes he has.

  • adele

My sigh is now getting popular. 😊

  • PPP

Imagine if mkg is healthy, 20 mins prolly is what lin would get. The mystery part is why clifford promised lin he will close the game with KW. Cant see how if mkg is healthy.

  • adele

That’s mchale style. Clifford is a copycat

  • adele

    Not in this sorry team

  • heart

Tonight’s Lin got no calls at least 3-4 times. The refs are so biased against Lin. Hopefully, Lin’s camp/agent gather evidence and send in an official complaint about this. It’s getting out of hand.

  • Lefon Jang

He missed mostly to the right but tonite he’s short hitting the front rim.

  • adele

Broken promises from Clifford. Hate this sorry of a person. He is in league with mchale, bscott, Woodson.

  • PPP

I do believe lin will opt out and see how the free agent market goes once they traded for lee.

  • Maknusia

    contagious! sigh

  • Lefon Jang

He missed 5 games due to ankle injury.

  • that’s true. With Kemba/Batum/MKG, Lin would have to play PF or C
    I don’t understand the reasoning.

Lin would need to compete for time with Zeller/Marvin

  • heart

Ok. Thanks. But does he still have the success like he had w/Lin?

  • sws94

I just have a feeling Lin would have excellent chemistry with MKG because he’s such a good transition player. Lin to MKG for the slam would happen. It did in the Cavs game.

  • PPP

    This is funny. Ha

  • PPP

True that if they go fir small ball. But apparently clifford prefers size.

  • PPP

Seems that clifford has changed his mind after his contract was extended. Anyone’s guess.

  • Acbc

Whenever I hear Lin fans give credit to Kemba Walker, I want to throw up. Simply put, KW doesn’t do any of the heavy lifting and is set up to look good. The thing that really bothers me most is that some Lin fans are the worst at giving Lin credit for his great games or good plays or great defence as indicator of his true value and continue to look at his lows as what his true value is. Lin gets that too much as it is from the media and doubters. It must hurt doubly from Juda fans.

All sport is about confidence. The players that play with that “juice” will play with a high that lifts their game. The reverse is absolutely true. Lin gets that already from everyone else, does he really need that from his own fans?

Kemba Walker is riding the high of confidence this year from winning. What if the points he’s putting up is producing losses? What if Lin isn’t there to dig the mess the starters keep putting the team into? What if the hornets record this year is actually 10-15 games below where they are now? How would Kemba maintain his confidence? Kemba would have been responsible for so many losses this year that every shot would have become so much more important than it is now. Kemba plays loose because Lin is there to fix his messes and put him into position to close games as a winner. Without that he would have been shooting scared just like he’s done through out his career.

Kemba is a choker and will be a choker again next season when the team start losing games like he’s done all through his career.

  • Singapore BB Fan

Becos Cliff is a Double Crosser

  • LinMad

or one of the Lin fans can do it

  • BobbyH

    Sounds familiar, i.e. Harden.

  • PPP

I just watch the first half. From the beginning, KW was guarding Holiday but later they switched Lee to guard him.

How it goes in the 2nd half? Holiday got 38 pts thats a wash with KW production?

  • adele

Thanks for giving strength to our stance here. Some are like rubbing salt to open wounds. Hopefully they will see the reason and light.

  • sport

Harden and Mchale called, they want their playbook of how to mistreat Lin, take all the shots, and still win games back.

  • I think it’s good to acknowledge that Kemba managed to improve his shooting (38% to 43% FG) despite not playing much D ( i.e. Jrue Holiday 38pts). It’s too bad they groom him to be a 1-way player like Harden because it will not be sustainable.

He’s been hot against some easy teams but struggled against good teams.
When Lin leaves next season, his impact will be felt.

For now, JLin just needs to seize the chance to contribute with big wins after Kemba and Batum feel the effect of playing 38+mpg

  • heart

Your first two sentences are on point. It’s what I meant in my previous posts to Alan. 9/10 times Cliff allows KW to play when Hornets are in the lead and gets last winning shots in crunch time when the leads are up. Usually when the score is tied or close, Cliff lets Lin in to play defense and gets possession, then KW can cruise to the FTs line to add to his total points. We have seen this so many times. The hard work is done by everyone else for KW to get the glory shot and the glory. It’s disgusting to me. This is similar to Rox/Harden again.

  • Dorothy

Let me re-word it, every time when Lin did not have a great game you visit us

  • JoeTeam

Steph 0-5 first 12 mins against an easy Jazz. So why do “Lin Fans” have to come here to knock on Lin, I really disrespect that. Nobody is worried about Steph. Get the hey outta here! This is a good place.

  • heart

That works too, as many complaints as possible. But Lin’s agent/camp must do it too.

  • cdblue10

Lin’s position on this team is set to fail but besides of the mistreatment he still find to be a solid player and still noticeable on this circumstance. The only way to climb to the top is to play with MDA next yr. whether it is in Philly or in Brooklyn.I hope he will blow up in the playoffs even with the situation that he is in right now.

  • heart

I’m still leery about PT for LIn in the playoffs. Cliff and Hornets are determined to set up KW for glory in the playoffs. I hope a miracle happen for Lin. Even though things seem impossible, but with God everything is possible.

  • Brewkowski

    At least lamb got paid.

  • cdblue10

He will get the same playing time from this time on and it wouldn’t change but if he can be a game changer every time he will come in ,he will increased his value in the free agency ,I hope he will just look to score and get his number first before involving his teammates.

  • Dorothy

Of course I know, but thought Psalm does not like us calling people “troll” 🙂 , just flagged.

  • that’s true..
but of course Kemba would take the most PT, not Lin

Lin’s wish of Kemba/Lin backcourt just didn’t materialize for some reason.
He probably knows he’s going to get 10-15 min with MKG back

  • heart

Somehow, Hornets switched defense for mismatch to let MW post up on Holiday twice too IIRC.

I think Kemba is going to have a tough time in the playoffs when teams start putting full effort on defense. I think Lin’s skill as a floor general and prior playoff experience would be the way to go to win. Whether Cliff realizes it or utilizes it is another story.

  • heart

Cliff’s main objective is to make KW look good and a win at the same time. So Lin’s utilization will be similar today or worse. If Hornets have the lead, you know Lin’s PT will be reduced more dramatically. Lin will be used for defense, bring back or secure the lead, then KW will get the rest of points via FTs or jump shots. Cliff is very rigid and predictable now.

  • Rick Johnson

Who’s the guy sitting at the end of the bench with his hand on his chin? Doesn’t look happy. Would a Pelican’s fan be sitting at the end of the Hornet’s bench? Isn’t that MJ’s seat?

  • JoeTeam

Yes, but don’t go away, just change what you experience. You are always calm and on your own a great fan. Many of us here are. We are just getting overloaded with people trying to be in the world of the negative.

I tend to watch the JLin minutes when I can, and then later if I want to watch real bball, I watch GSW. It’s really refreshing, as we all know JLin can ball like GSW. Linsanity was some kind of ball. The best games Lin had were really good ball. So, just manage yourself and keep coming here. You add a lot of value to this site.

    A nice article:

    http://nypost.com/2016/03/09/reggie-miller-rips-phil-jackson-how-long-will-knicks-play-triangle-crap/

I like what kenny smith said about bball style:
“What a style of play does is it allows you to draft, trade and get free agents to come. For Golden State, this is the player I need: a guy who can spread the floor and shoot 3s but can also defend bigger than his position. Now I know what I’m looking for. But if I said that to New York, I don’t know if that guy fits in New York because there’s no style that’s been created.

“In San Antonio, I know I need a guy who has a high basketball IQ that understands he doesn’t need the basketball to be effective. Now I can pick a guy like that. In New York, I don’t know what I’m picking.”

So anyway, JLin needs to go somewhere where his style of play is clearly wanted and a nice engine for wins. In CHA, he’s a nice engine for wins, but they really don’t want to play JLin ball.

This was one of the fouls I thought it was not called. Lin usually doesn’t lose the ball w/out someone hitting, holding or tripping him. Especially when you can hear Lin’s voice screaming out loud on TV, that’s usually is a definite foul on him. Need to remember the ref who was standing in front of that foul and ignored it. Need to add this foul to the “miss/no foul calls” thread and send it to the NBA official.

  • I loved seeing JLin’s brilliant adjustment in this game:

    1. He saved his energy when Kemba is in the game
He still played hard on both ends but he no longer expended so much energy guarding a few players like we saw before the ASB.
In 5 min of the 1st quarter, he missed 1 layup & 3. No rhythm since he didn’t handle the ball.
In the last 5 min of the 3rd quarter, he missed 2 shots + had 2 rebounds.

    2. He turned on the jet when Kemba was out
In the first 6.5 min of the 2nd quarter, he scored 4pts with an easy bank shot+2 FTs and missed 2 threes.
In the first 5.5 min of the 4th quarter, Lin turned on the jet to score the first 6 Hornets points (2 layups + 2 FTs) in the first 3 possession, missed 1 shot (no-call foul), then 2 FTs before being replaced by Kemba.

JLin now knew there’s no point expending energy to guard 3-4 players in team defense since Lee will close anyway.
He saved the energy to drive to score layups + draw fouls to get FTs when Kemba is OUT

If he made his shots as an SG when Kemba is on the floor, it’s good.
But if not, he’d score when he has the ball in his hands as the PG when Kemba is OUT in the 2nd and 4th quarter

The brilliant Harvard guy also has some street-smarts in game-management.
If nothing else changes, 12-14ppg would be good for his upcoming Free Agency.

    Let’s go, JLin!

  • Cheers to JLin’s brilliant adjustment for the final 20 games!

  • CJSHYY

Well, I am not happy but not too upset about Lin didn’t close the game bc w Kemba wants to be player of the week first then most improved player later… No matter it’s Lin or Lee on final few min… they will not get the ball in their hand.

  • sws94

Kidd and that big Bucks team plays Lin ball?

  • We knew Cliff will close with Lee even if JLin scored 12-15pts in 20 min (ATL/PHI game)
So I’m glad to see that Lin no longer wants to sacrifice his body for this team who is phasing him out.

At this point, it’s a professional partnership w/ no long-term commitment.
I’m glad JLin realized his scoring is more valuable for his FA than the hockey assists, taking charges and team defense that are not rewarded fairly by closing games.

Shine in playoffs games as these games require both offensive and defensive skills.

what i am trying to say is, jeremy lin plays to win and so with hornets (only with their reasons, but still to win) and as far as i know, he is still a hornets till he decide not to. keep in mind that jeremy is different from other players..all has EGO’s, including lin, but his is LESSER , so his time might come during the first leg of the playoffs..whether they come to the last leg is so determine only by their FATE,.

as others put it, lets talk about next team, comes he decided to change team!

  • james brown

    very accurate..

Has anyone noticed that Lamb tries very hard to not pass to Lin, or is it just me?

It’s not just this game, but I’ve seen a few occasions where Lamb could had easily passed to Lin but elected to make a much longer and tougher pass to someone else….

Maybe Lamb is starting to get upsets about his playing time and Lin minutes at shooting guard should belong to him.

To be fair to Lamb, I do feel he should get a bit more playing time..He should get at least 20 minutes based on the fact he’s still shooting 46%fg…

The problem is the fact that Kemba and specially Batum are both playing huge minutes, so it really squeeze out Lin and Lamb’s minute and they both really have to battle it out for the small amount of minutes left.

So I could see some friction on Lamb’s part..I also noticed that at time, he doesn’t go to Lin to pad him when Lin does something good on the court like drawing a free throw.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Forget about team ball or anything else….Lin simply need to go to a team where the point guard is not a star or a young PG with potential or a key player/face of the franchise PG.

Currently, these teams are Knicks, Nets and Philly..Although I suspect one of these 3 team may sign a star PG during free agency or even draft a young PG with potential..In this case, Lin should avoid that team since the young PG will be given every chance to start ahead of Lin….

If a guy like Mike Conley leave Memphis and sign with the Knicks, Lin and his agent should look to go there.

If a guy like Rondo leave Sacramento and sign elsewhere, Lin should try to go there….The idea is to go to a team where he can have a fair competition for the PG spot.

Competing with guys like Calderon, Jarrett Jack and Darren Collison increases Lin’s chance of finally getting his own team to run just like he did during Linsanity.

If I’m Lin, this is what I’d look to do during this summer’s free agency.

Dallas Mavs may be another destination, but only if

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Lin should only look for a team that gives him the best chance to either start or get as much playing time ei 6th man minutes.

I don’t think he should concern himself with the other stuff that much…Only star players should worry about owners and weather or coaches….Lin is regarded as a role player around the league and his only attention is to go where he can maximize his time on the court.

Unfortunately, the attractive places for Lin will probably teams that are a bit unstable…Good team that are stable usually have stars players or a star PG.

It took Lin 5-6 season to finally play smarter and look after himself? But if you look at shots attempted it’s still not enough. He should at least take 10-15 shots every game. All Star players averages 15 shots per game and most of the time Lin takes way below that number mostly single digits which isn’t enough. Also hope his new shooting form will start clicking soon.

If Lin is injured, he should just sit out until playoffs to heal and protect his body. His body has been through so many cruel hits and awkward falls this season, doing all the dirty work for KW and Hornets, it’s not worth it. Maybe that’s what Spencer Hawes is doing. He’s taking his time healing knowing that he won’t be staying w/Hornets after this season bc Hornets wanted to trade him away. Hawes has been out since 18 Feb 2016, around 21 days+, almost 3 wks by tomorrow.

  • rookie75094

More evidence of league wide conspiracy against Jlin…started with adam silver.

  • golfhacker

I notice he always screams “hey” when he gets fouled. What he should scream is “foul” instead. “Hey” is passive. “Foul” is more direct and I think refs would be more influenced by that.

  • heart

Yep, he should yell “Foul” out loud from now on like you said. However, even though the incident happens before their very eyes, the refs still swallow their whistle. So no matter what terms or how he yells biased refs won’t budge. But at least, we now know that is a definite sign that Lin did get hit/fouled whenever we hear him screaming out loud and/or holding his head or adjusting his jaw or any part of his body. I have often wonder about that and now we have proof. Besides, Lin is an honest person; he won’t claim what is not.

  • CJSHYY

I agree. But I doubt Cliff will let him rest… smh!

  • JLin has an idealistic Spurs-like team-centric view that he puts team first then winning will come.

But the problem comes when coaches don’t preach the same way. I think he gives up on this team to play team-ball that he envisions; he accepted he needs to play Kemba-ball to score a lot in this team to matter

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Where the heck is Clifford?

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I think we don’t know the priorities Lin has. Like how much is a playoff team a priority over playing time, starting vs. bench, finishing games, etc. I don’t know if we can ever expect a contract to ensure everything and I’m leery of Lin getting a starting job or any type of position because I’ve seen him have a position and then have it changed. It’s the NBA.

I don’t know what the solution is really. Lin seems to thrive from circumstance rather than being placed where he can really thrive playing his type of game.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I’m not surprised about j lamb.

  • DX

There will be no playoff if Lin sit out all the games he should.

  • heart

Which would be fine w/me. Lin does not need to do any more heavy lifting for Hornets/KW so they can get the glory. Let them do it for themselves. You notice, KW usually does NOT have the pressure of playing from behind when Hornets are in deficit. He only comes in when the scores are up and/or the momentum favor Hornets. Lately, Cliff has found a successful pattern to give KW more assists which is in the beginning of the first quarter when all starters are still fresh and focused to make good shots, especially while KW passing more and not hogging the ball in this stretch. But in later quarters, you see him make less assist or not at all. During this latter stretch, it’s all about his own scoring. That has been the pattern. I have to repeat this so more fans will realize why he has been getting assists more now than before.

  • Whitman Lam

That was such an obvious non-call. But, notice how the defense clogs the lane every time and leaves Al Jefferson wide open at the FT line. That’s going to be disaster in the playoffs.

  • Rick Johnson

Carlisle going to get a fine for saying that. NBA is like Stalinist Russia when it comes to controlling speech.

  • Rick Johnson

Hmmm. Does anyone ever remember seeing him with ice on his shoulder? I just see on his knees and back. Like you frequently see Dwight with ice on the shoulders and I think Kobe.

  • xeroid

As the video showed Lin has quite a few no calls when he drove to the basket, so I am not too worried about his shooting percentage, but did you all noticed that Lin has been 100% on his foul shots on the last few games, and his foul shots all went in the middle, so I think his mid-range jumpers will fall soon. The only thing is his 3 point shots are a little off, that’s more related to his back problem and he spent so much energy defending, and not in rhythm. So it will improve when he doesn’t try to do too much help defense, like the last game, let Drue Holiday score on Kemba and save energy.

  • Whitman Lam

The problem is, most teams will choose a past his prime, veteran PG like Deron Williams, Jose Calderon, Rondo, or Mo Williams over JLin. Other teams looking towards the future will draft a rookie PG and give him the keys to the team, like the Lakers did. Lin is stuck in the middle, he’s not young out of the draft, and he hasn’t had enough history as an NBA starter to be considered a reliable veteran.

  • sws94

He hasn’t missed a FT this month. He’s been awesome at the line.

Lin’s missing open jumpers. So, I think that’s why there is concern. Maybe he’ll come more inside but when he enters the game he camps out so much at the corner 3 spot he usually takes his first shot or some of his early shots there.

  • sws94

These numbers need some breaking down because it makes Kemba seem like he looks for Lin to pass to and he doesn’t nowhere near often enough. Maybe some of these assists are on breakaways where Lin is clearly in front on him or Kemba being trapped and Lin was the only guy he could pass to. Batum looks for Lin far more than Kemba does as does Hawes and Marvin. Lamb is assisted by Lin but he needs to pass back to him more.

Is there an assisted by for Kemba that includes Lin? And others that includes Lin?

  • sws94

He’s gotten more me-ball oriented, maybe because his minutes are so low now. He has potential to play very well with Lin (remember the early season lobs?) when he follows Lin’s lead and not try to create on his own or just look for his shot in ISOs. I really think Lin had most to do with Lamb’s early season success.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

When Lin is PG, Lamb is SG.

Lamb’s NOT supposed to pass to Lin. He’s supposed to shoot.

That’s why Lin and Lamb blowing away opponents when they play together.

  • GameWatcher

I really doubt Lin would out right say that he will not resign because Kemba is dominating the ball too much. Is the journalist putting word in his mouth?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He did not even give the ball to Lin to bring the ball up to set up play. Lamb forced many bad shot (sometimes even go coast to coast).

  • DX

In recent games, Jeremy Lin has been playing for about 20 minutes a game. With that, the other players of the team got the chance to take on more action on the court, but his absence on the court has not affected the team’s momentum.

    Really?

It was stated that Lin revealed how Walker was the one in control the game, which does not let him get enough time on court to find his own momentum. With that, he explained that he is planning to move on again after the season ends.

Don’t think Lin did, at least right now.

  • JoeTeam

yes, I like that about Steph – if he cannot get his game going, he starts to drive the team in other areas.

  • JoeTeam

I don’t know. We could have never guessed CHA last year. I’ll let that be up to them and all those moves they are making …

  • takemeback2reaganyears

  • Dorothy

Even if our boy did say that, I am totally fine with that.

  • CJSHYY

Since Lin will not stay so Hornets starts to build their own team chemistry for the future… Ya! They sure want they can have their own momentum even No Lin bc that’s the way they are going to play for the next season.

  • Rick Johnson

Yes, they are making it up which is bad for Lin to say he said that. Although I hope that’s what he’s thinking and will look for a starting job he just wouldn’t say it publicly.

  • CJSHYY

Really think Lin made a big mistake to come to Hornets he sure miscalculated lots of thing…. Well, that’s good lesson for him.

  • Rick Johnson

Kemba has the ball most of the time so you’d think he’d have a high assist number. I’d like to see what it is per 36 minutes.

  • Rick Johnson

Perhaps he needs a more experienced agent that knows the NBA better to represent him and avoid these pitfalls.

Charlotte not likely to get far in the playoffs looking at this. But of course Cliff won’t change anything as long as they keep beating easy teams.

Charlotte’s likely to land between 3 and 6, facing Boston, Miami, or Atlanta.
Charlotte is 2-7 against those teams this season.

    https://twitter.com/HPbasketball/status/708007866938961920

To break it down then are 2-7 against BOS, ATL & MIA
They are 0-3 against them away
They are 2-4 against them at home

Kemba-ball will make them one and done.

  • adele

    Would like that!

  • Rick Johnson

Wonder if in the first round of the playoffs if Charlotte is down 0-3 playing Kemba-ball would Cliff stick with that on an elimination game or would he turn to JLin?

  • adele

Use Lin with less minutes same old Clifford style. You expect him to change? Clifford is really a politician by nature, makes promises during the campaign period but after the election doesn’t care anymore. He got what he wants. Poor Lin got duped but it’s a learning experience.

  • blubell
  • Acbc

When Joeteam said that Curry was struggling last night he stop taking shots and switched to be more of a decoy and facilitator. He mention that GSW last night had 36 ast. That’s a winner and a champion. Even Jordan used himself that way to give Steve Kerr the last second dagger. Winners don’t care about stats, losers like Harden and Walker will sacrifice the team to make himself look like a star.

This comment really jogged my memory about the game against Kings when Daniels was hot with eight 3s for 28 pts. Lin inbound the pass to him for that 3 dagger to win in second OT. But it didn’t have to be that way. Walker was 1/14 in the first half and probably ended up with 5/22 or more (?). He had a harden night at the foul line with 14-16 points(?) to pad his stats. Meanwhile, Lin and company had a lead until kW decided to become the hero late and allowed Kings to come back. Walker had a chance to win the game in regulation with 2 foul shots. ( a generous call that Lin would never have gotten ). He made one to tie but choked the last one to win the game.

Lin hardly saw the ball I both OT. At one point Lin saved the team by knocking an offensive rebound to Hairston (?). Lin ran over to him and asked for the ball. He was maybe 4 feet away and Hariston looked away from Lin and gave the ball to Kemba. He bricked of course. Honestly, the guy that should have had the last shot all along was Daniels. He eventually won the game for them but he seem ticked off because he never got the chance.

They won the game but then lost the game the next day against Clippers(?). Clifford and KW killed any chance the team had by not putting the Kings away in regulation, and for what? To make Walker look good, the coach puts the entire team in harms way.

This game pretty much describes why the Hornets will never be any good. You have an undersize SG pretending to be a PG. Rondo meanwhile had 20 ast that game. kW must play PG because he’s too small to guard opposing team SGs. You have a GM who doubles down on a bad fit and bends over backwards to make him a star. A coach that won’t put the team ahead of a player and is too dumb to see that he’s playing checkers instead of chess. Hornets have to blow up the team like the Rox because what they have is so twisted that no one can fix it.

Well said. Eventually, teammates will get tired of taking on extra defensive assignment to protect KW and be frozen out later by him so he can get the glory. Ex. Rox/Harden. However, one thing that scares me is that Cliff is such a politician and adept to making himself sound/look smart when he speaks. But if you listen to him closely and decipher what he actually said, you’ll see a pattern that he really said ‘nothing’ bc his words and his actions do not match in regards to Lin.

So what you are saying is that his reduced minutes are because he’s playing badly? Are you baiting us or something?

  • JoeTeam

Great post acbc! The re-call is very nice to read. I remember so many games where in watching the live action and having played before, it was clear JLin was the win. Also, many fans understand.

It’s the dummied down retro stories on the web, designed for the media machine, that waters down true sports and sports heroes. It’s no wonder with how divided this country is that we want simple cartoon heroes, manufactured by the machine. So, one example is how many points someone scores, like it’s a number on a Pokemon card.

Life before was more about ideas, ideals, and striving. With digitization of everything, we are losing the spirit of effort, team effort, and winning together that you write about.

We just need to go with the flow and see what nuggets life has for us today 🙂 Thanks for your post.

First sentence was the setup, 2nd one was the fist in your teeth. weird post, that was.

It’s too bad that neither Lin or his agents have any understanding of how things work in the NBA. You’d think that after their considerable actual experience in the trenches that they’d know at least as much as the seasoned experts here on this forum. ;p

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The next game of Hornets will be a real test for Courtney Lee and Clifford.
Detroit in my opinion is a favourite to win. This is almost a must win situation for the Pistons and they have the manpower to do so. On the contrary, the heavy reliance of Hornets on Walker could be fatal because Pistons has the firepower and defensive strength to stop him.

  • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

My whole thing is don’t make up stuff or assume when we don’t have proof.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin was great in the 4th quarter. Once he was pulled out of the last game, Pelicans made a rally to tie the game. In fact the Hornets was lucky to got back and won the game.

  • LinMad

Lin doesn’t even take his normal 12 shots per game. He’s taking like 6-10 now.

  • LinMad

against crappy teams that will work. But not the top tier teams.

If that was the case, wouldn’t Hornets pass on the info to their media to mention in their broadcast and to inform fans?

  • Acbc

It’s funny how the home town announcers replayed the OT highlights of Lin taken over the court and almost singlehandedly take down the Kings in Charlette in the previous encounter. They said let’s hope it won’t be another déjà vu. Lol. Little did they know that Clifford and Kemba would shut Lin down for them.

By the way ( this for that troll ), Lin had 20/10 for a double double until Clifford made sure Lin wouldn’t outshine Walker.

Daniel must have really ticked off Walker becuase he never got much pt after that great game. Any other coach would have tried to work Daniels more into the rotation but Clifford makes decisions that just makes no sense.

  • sws94

No. Only if a player can not play or is coming back from an injury. If Hawes comes back and is on a minutes restriction, they’ll inform the public. But any player playing with nagging injuries but can still play, there is no announcement like that. Sometimes the club will say so and so has an injury but a lot of players don’t like to make excuses for or admit to injuries while playing.

  • JoeTeam

it’s weird, any other coach who wants to win. In LA, it was clear they weren’t contending. In HOU, it was clear they were pandering to the Morey, McHale, Harden line of thinking. Here, it’s all mixed up with one consistent thing – they want a guy who’s not really a PG to be PG, because he can score many points in losing efforts. Weird team.

  • Pete B

I know but when Lin had good games he was used less the next game until they lose games then he got more time And this cycle repeated for 50 games

As the Hornets enjoyed a 5-game winning streak, Jeremy Lin found ways to contribute with his scoring (12pts/2r) despite limited min, his shooting struggle and having non-calls from the referees. He also managed to keep an impressive 22 straight FT and 28/29 FT in the last 6 games.

    1. Pistons might be a tough opponent as they have beaten the Raptors and Cavaliers recently although they can be inconsistent as they lost to the Knicks. The Pistons is ranked 2nd in 3PT defense holding opponents to 21% so they can challenge the Hornets 3PT shooting

    2. The recent trend shows that only if Kemba, Batum or Courtney Lee struggles that JLin would get more PT.

    3. With Lee having his best game (16pts 4/5 3FGM) as a Hornets and receiving Clifford’s praise, he might be given more min if he can contribute with defense and more catch-and-shoot 3s. He has been given extended playing time after the trade despite not scoring much as Lin’s and Lamb’s minutes were reduced.

    4. Let’s hope JLin will overcome any nagging shoulder/ankle injuries and break through his shooting slump to score 11+ppg in his limited 20 min. If the game is close in the end, the Hornets will need his ability to draw FTs and score.

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s hope and pray he figures out a way to bounce back strong in his limited minutes to contribute with his shooting & scoring.
