G51 WAS @CHA Game Thread

After a huge win when Jeremy Lin led the Hornets to beat LeBron James and the Cavs after 6 years of losing (23 games) in Kemba’s absence, he was not much utilized in the loss against the Heat. The script was to have Kemba come back as the lead PG but things didn’t go according to the script. Hassan Whiteside was dominating with a triple-double including 10 blocks. Both the 2nd unit and starters struggled against him. But we also saw how the 2nd unit did not rely on JLin to set up their offense, which was disheartening to see after seeing what JLin can do as the PG in the Cavs win.

  1. Would we see the same 2nd unit dynamics tonight of JLin not being trusted as the PG?
  2. Would Clifford rely on JLin’s playmaking with the starters to close the game?

Things never go smoothly with JLin’s career but we know he always persevere to give his best to his team when his number is called. He doesn’t need to be the #1 scorer but he can offer the best playmaking to allow the Hornets to play team-ball necessary to win.

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s pray and hope that he manages to be 100% healthy soon before  to help the Hornets to win

    Any word from Brent????

  • sws94

Washington vs. Sixers last night. They look athletic and fast.

  • NONONO

I am celebrating Chinese New Year holiday with friends tonight. Not interested in Hornets games until Lin gets what he deserves.

  • DX

    Chinese New Year is Monday.

  • Rick Johnson

Hornets will bench Lin again, Kemba will have the high score and lose and Hornets fans will scratch their heads not understand what’s wrong.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Kemba is a team cancer with a snake coach behind it.

  • NONONO

New Year eve is tomorrow. But it is super bowl. I just made my mind and support Broncos!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Kemba defense is a joke. Not only undersized, he looks lost in transition.

  • DX

Happy Chinese New Year Eve Eve😆

  • DX

When you focus on 30 shots per game, who care defense.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That’s why his entire career with the Hornets went nowhere.

  • DX

    Maybe go somewhere this time.😊

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I’d rather see Lin go elsewhere. Let this team go down as they wished.

  • cdblue10

If Hornets can’t figure out that MKG and Lin are the motor of this team then they won’t see play off, these two players even w/ small sample size you can see the synergy, they fed off w/ each other.MKG will bring his best if he will be playing with Lin and same as the latter. This is of course without Kemba on the court.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

So after a breakout game against player and team they could not beat in decades, Lin got 16 minutes from the bench with mostly corner standby position.

  • Rick Johnson

Bench didn’t play well yesterday. Actually I only saw first half because I fell asleep in the 2nd! But Lin would pass the ball and then who ever he passed the ball to would go ISO and be one and done. No ball movement, no player movement, Lin wouldn’t see the ball again. Not sure what’s up with that.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Players got panic mode when they heard the news Kemba returns to play hero ball.

  • Rick Johnson

Cho blew it by giving Cliff extension to early. He’s to rigid, I have not been impressed with him.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Cho would never spend owner money without his approval.

Just like Morey fired McHale but Les pulled the string as he said, things have to change.

  • cdblue10

I don’t want to end the season so early,I wanna see more basketball

  • Rick Johnson

I guess if your “leader” plays a certain way, the rest of the team plays the same way.

  • cdblue10

lets pray for 3 more losing streak and we will get our wish

  • takemeback2reaganyears

The direction they go, it will end early just like last season.

Lin is an average player if his role is not the PG.

  • Rick Johnson

They will win 1 of 3 and point to the one win as how great Kemba is.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Hornets are small market with low expectation, no nothing will happen till season end. I just hope for trade.

  • cdblue10

My ESP is telling me that MJ and CHO is talking right now doing the right thing.lol

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Absolutely.

  • cdblue10

But seriously speaking,if they won’t do any drastic changes, this team will go fishing early in the season

  • cdblue10

Even if he shoots 6-20 and score 20 points with a win,he’ll be hailed as the savior of the team…no question about it.

  • DX

Hope they already made the decision not just talking.

  • Rick Johnson

Hornets should be looking to trade Kemba for a true SG instead of trying to shoehorn Batum out of position at SG and Lin out of position at SG and Walker who is a short SG playing PG. Any good SG’s available? Brandon Wright? Tyreke Evans? PJ Tucker? Brandon Jennings?

  • cdblue10

Hornets need to realized that Kemba is not as good as what people think in Charlotte, the reason they went to playoff 2 seasons ago was because of MKG’s defense and AL Jefferson great games at that time not Kemba. He was always a liability on both ends of the floor,I say both ends because even if he scores more he doesn’t really involve his team mates and he’s a big liability in defense,it’s just so happen that AL was playing great at that time and MKG was their glue guy to stopped the opposing best player from other team.

  • cdblue10

IMO,they just need to trade Kemba and everything will fall into places.Hornets has the players to do it.What they really need is a big man that can cover the paint.

  • Rick Johnson

Bucks looking to trade Monroe. I don’t know him though is he just a younger Jefferson slow post player or a bigger Ed Davis PnR rim protector?

  • Hope

    Go Broncos. Go jlin.

  • cdblue10

One reason why the bench didn’t play well because we didn’t see a happy Lin,because he knew what’s really coming. On the other hand players are scrambling to get their offense because they knew that they won’t play a lot if they didn’t get their points. That’s the reality,a good coach always have a strategic plan when everything goes south but he didn’t do any adjustments,it seemed he did,he castrated one of his best players playing time and didn’t get enough touches last night and that’s the reason they lost.

  • Acbc

You bring an azz to the water but you can’t change that donkey to a stallion.

The culture of the Hornets is a low key version of the shark tank mentality of rockets. Lol. Players know who they must kiss up to because coach implies it by empowering KW. They are scared to do anything other than hand the ball to kW.

The bench works off of that fear of being demoted like Lamb. They must get theirs in order to move up to the first unit. That’s the culture that is causing the problem of this team and so call Clifford “TEAM PLAY”. Clifford and KW team play means team plays defence while offence is ISO KW all day.

The azz can drink from the water hole of team play, but you’ll never get the stud that will gallop to victory.

  • cdblue10

A player that knows how to position himself when Lin draw the defense will become a very good player because Lin will deliver the ball if you’re in the scoring position.A player like Monroe will improved a lot if he will play with Lin because he knows how to work around the paint.

  • sws94

That’s Washington Wizards thread. That’s the opponent in this thread to consider.

  • cdblue10

I agree with MKG and Lin to play together coming off the bench that’s one thing that the coaching staff needs to consider.
Clifford blamed his bench but he himself didn’t make any adjustments on call plays,Lin will always thread that paint no matter who is in the paint .That’s his game, the intention was good but Whiteside and Spoelstra knows how to play Lin.This wasn’t all Lin’s fault, blame that to the coach because of his ineptitude to adjust. One way to avoid Whiteside is to insert Lin when he’s not on the court and take advantage on the middle but what he did instead of trying to rectify the problem was he almost totally wiped out Lin.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Why not a prediction? You know why, because it’s just a wishful thought.

  • sws94

Cliff had a very bad game. Hope he learns from it as does the players. Hope tonight is a W. Washington looks like a challenging team but Charlotte plays very well at home.

  • I am The Jason

I keep seeing that people want Charlotte to trade Kemba. Its not going to happen. Kemba is their man for better or worse. This team is semi currently at full strength. I don’t expect Lin to play more than 25 min. He might be lucky to get 20 min. He is their 2nd unit guy even though he is better starting for the team. Hind sight is 20/20 but I really wished Lin choose the Sixers now. They may not be a playoff team, but his opportunity to shine would be greater now that D’antoni is with the 76ers staff. Maybe we get a Bucks trade. MCW for Lin by the deadline. I’m good with that.

  • cdblue10

He’s fine he’s not from the epicenter of the earthquake,he posted last night already.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Now “scenario”?

  • BBallBreakdown assessment of the Hornets Trade value

Taking Stock: Charlotte Hornets Trade Value
    http://bballbreakdown.com/2016/02/05/charlotte-hornets-trade-value/

    ..
Or, similarly, perhaps they can take advantage of another disaster in Phoenix and ship Jefferson and filler for Tyson Chandler (hoping reuniting him with Lin might recapture some of that pick and roll magic) and P.J. Tucker. But exploiting a team trying to bail out of a failed build is their best opportunity to gain something for Jefferson.

Charlotte isn’t a title contending team, and it’s hard to see where this current roster might one day grow into one. But there is valuable in building a stable program, developing players, and becoming a more attractive destination for potential free agents.”

  • sport

They have a true SG in Lamb who scores lights out. His defense is not great but starting with Lin they will make one of the highest scoring backcourt! I suspect one of the reason Lamb doesn’t start is so he won’t outshine Kemba and Batum as well! How long has it been since we’ve seen BF1 of the Jeremys?!

  • sport

Really wish that trade Monroe for Kemba was true. There’s still time, if only MJ would pull the plug.

  • sport

Lin brings out the best in big players who play defense that’s a fact!

  • If we’re talking about the closing lineup, Clifford might be thinking Kemba+Batum+(Lin as part-time) playmakers with Marvin/MKG/Zeller depending on who will help Kemba+Batum as the franchise players to get wins.

I get the sense Lin will never be the primary option as the playmaker even if it helps Kemba to be more effective scorer and distribute the ball evenly to all teammates. Kemba had 5 out of last 6 shots in the 2nd half; he made the 1st 2 and missed the next 3. It’s that type of plays that freeze out his teammates for the offensive flow and made them not ready to shoot.

It’s unfortunate that Clifford doesn’t leverage Lin’s strength to distribute the ball and Kemba’s strength to drain set shots.
Lin would make sure Kemba get his fair share of shots without freezing other teammates.

50 games into the season; I would’ve expected Clifford to leverage his player’s strength to win easily.
But there is no order of who the playmakers should be; it’s definitely “too many cooks in the kitchen” syndrome

  • sport

Hornets fans will look at the stats and say Kemba’s the star, Lin’s inconsistent without noticing he only got 15 mins to play!

  • sws94

Thanks, I missed it. Thanks much. Good to hear.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

No you didn’t. You have always been praising Kemba while criticizing lin weak of point guard ball handling.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Get Lin out of Charlotte to anywhere not tanking.

  • I still have that glimmer of hope that MJ will capitalize on JLin’s PG talent to make the team better than the individual parts.

Game 49 Win vs LeBron was a huge step but we only have 32 more games.

  • donsmacau

Looking forward to the day soon that JLIN leaves this inept and irresponsible Coach and entire Hornets organization that facilitates a LOSING attitude and coddling their superstars who play basketball in selfish, me-first, non-cooperative ultimately failed ways. Any of the non-superstars on this team would do well to get away from this organization if they can.

Thankfully, JLIN will at the end of this season, move on to his starting franchise point guard job beginning a successful stretch of leading his new NBA team to the playoffs and more.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

The bitterness is your comment toward to other posters on this board showed you’re being exposed.

There’s no strength in loses and in loses you look for weakness and reasons to change and to improve. Keep praising the in charge yes man and the player bringing weakness to the team means nothing but but excuses for failure.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Glimmer is getting dimmer and dimmer. The season is far from over but there’s no sign of changing.

  • Rick Johnson

Seems like Cho will make some move to try to save his career. Another playoff miss and he’s gone after this season. He can take one last shot before trade deadline of making the team better or just accept defeat and pack his bags at the end of the season.

  • Rick Johnson
  • GoJLin!

I personally agreed with most of your thoughts, because JLIN teaches us be humble and not step on other person’s toe neither said nasty things, always keep up with positive mind; but I still don’t think Charlotte is JLIN’s ideal home yet; As a LIN fan, I think he can go somewhere else and face a BETTER circumstances and treatment for sure!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Trade should be coming but Kemba is untouchable. Anything might help but the central of the problem is still there.

  • Let’s be patient with fellow JLin fans even if they have different expectations for his career.

@sws94:disqus and other JLin fans might prefer for JLin to stay as a Hornet for the job security and Clifford has shown more faith than BScott or even McHale, to allow him have big games vs Raptors/Cavs to increase his market value.

That might be a good backup plan if no teams will offer a starting PG positions to JLin.
But you, I and many of us also believe MDA will at least try to pursue JLin to play for his team, whether it’s 76ers or somewhere else. And that would definitely help JLin to get closer to realize his dreams (starter, All-Star, rings)

Let’s continue to simply agree to disagree respectfully.
We can focus on what we have in common to root for JLin’s success

  • wow.. that’s a lot of stitches?
I guess the broken hand required some extensive surgery!

  • Lefon Jang

The moral of the story here is to never throw a punch.

  • sws94

I hope he learns something from this.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

My posts have been about agree and disagree. I didn’t attack anyone to get a grip or how to behave. Exposing the coach and the hero-ball is staying in subject of BB discussion. I won’t respect anyone building a barrier to stop Lin and team success or anyone defending it.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin is glad to have fans who say things that he can’t in public.

  • It’s still hard to believe that an innocent teasing between friends would lead to Blake repeatedly punching the equipment manager/friend. I wonder what actually happened

    https://www.eurweb.com/2016/01/blake-griffin-attacked-equipment-manager-bullying-incident/

*The NBA is investigating a Jan. 23 incident in which Clippers forward Blake Griffin punched assistant equipment manager Matias Testi, breaking his own hand when a bullying session escalated out of control. The incident occurred at a restaurant in Toronto, and investigators are questioning the other two men who were at the dinner table, DeAndre Jordan and assistant athletic trainer Joe Resendez.

After an innocent exchange of teasing each other, Griffin reportedly stood up from the table and punched Testi. The other 2 men broke up the fight but Griffin pursued Testi outside and punched him repeatedly in the face. After police arrive and interviewed both men, Testi declined to press charges. He was treated at a Toronto hospital for minor facial injuries.

Jordan refused to elaborate when asked by the LA Times to discuss what happened. “It’s a tough situation,” he said. “Two guys that I’m super close with and it’s sticky, man. It’s tough.”

  • sws94

I don’t know. Batum and Lin, his biggest aquisitions have done well. Both have had injuries but Batum missed more games and played poorer with his injuries than Lin did. Hawes has been OK. He’s getting knocked for losing Biyombo. He may get a pass due to injury.

    I’m not sure about him.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Only long post I’d like to read on this forum are from psalm and Acbc.

  • Lefon Jang

Blake Griffin probably felt that it’s ok for him to laugh at Matias Testi but not the other way around. Bully mentality!

  • Dorothy

    this

  • I have faith that JLin can find that team to trust him as the starting PG and use his strength.

Even if 76ers or other bottom rung teams might be helpful for Lin’s career.
If we think about it, 76ers is not that much different than the Kemba-centric Hornets who probably will miss the playoff

It might take a few years but if JLin can produce All-Star numbers in MDA system, that will signal to the rest of the NBA that he might be close to be a Steve Nash replacement in the NBA.
He just needs a chance to lead a team for a full season; let’s see if JLin can lead 76ers to the playoff.

It can’t be worse than watching JLin’s talent being hidden in the Hornets bench that might miss the playoff by over-relying on Kemba

  • I can certainly respect that.

I’m trying to help sws to see that it’s much within the realm of possibility to have MDA pursue JLin and we can have JLin posting All-Star numbers next season in his team 🙂 MDA and JLin need each other in the NBA. Maybe Nash would help out too. That’ll be perfect!

  • cdblue10

This is totally wrong!if you want to post something just post, you don’t need to lecture other fans what they want to express.

  • sws94

Hornets still have a shot and I hope they make it. The Knicks and Orlando have fallen off.

If the Sixers aren’t an option, what else? I still find the Sixers having a danger of being Okafor superstar centric in a year or so and MDA may not stay with them and head back to the Suns or to a place where he has more experienced players.

I don’t know what Lin will do really. That makes it kind of fun to watch. But I’m just going to take what’s there now and enjoy as much of it as possible. I really try to see the positives in this situation over the frustrations.

  • Yascar

Psalm, I also want Jeremy to fulfill his dreams as you mentioned but I don’t agree that he can only thrive with MDA. Why limit him? He’s become a better player through all the awful coaches and ballhog players he’s had in the past and even present. Who knows if he can play for other coaches and teams or even stay in Charlotte and still become an All Star?

I don’t know where he’ll choose to be. I leave that up to him. I probably have more belief in his abilities than most others here.

I also don’t appreciate the constant whining about players, coaches and the team itself. I don’t think Cha is perfect either but there isn’t a perfect place. At the end of the day, he chose this team and this coach. Jeremy doesn’t whine, he makes the best of his situation. He works hard for his team and will consider his future when the time comes. That’s why I follow him, his humanity and faith and work ethic is truly admirable. Do people here really believe he appreciates it when his beloved fans want his team to lose?

So ban me. I may not be right in all aspects but there is truth in there.

  • sws94

Problem with MDA for me is I was in NYC during Linsanity, it brought me back to the NBA and the Knicks. I felt the high of the winning streak and the low of the losing streak. And then MDA was gone. Anthony and J R Smith had their way and quit on him. So it was a really high roller coaster ride followed by what felt like a crash. The town was euphoric followed by dazed and confused. He then went to LA and nothing great happened there. Under Woodson, the Knicks were different. More Anthony focused. And then Lin had an injury, missed the end of the season and playoffs and then went to Houston.

And the other point is what happens if MDA/Lin reunion neither pans out and happens or maybe Lin isn’t used as we hoped if it does? That’s why we need backup plans. What other coach and system and town and organization can empower Lin to be all he can be? Or will Lin be seen differently than we envision and still make noise in the league in some other way?

  • cdblue10

I think he is a Lin fan although he just have a different passion of being a fan compared to us.

  • Yascar

That may be true, I don’t know. But Lin stopped his fans from causing a raucus against ATH and other Charlotte blogs. He told them we’re all in the same team.

  • sws94

I don’t want you banned, nor think you will be. I agree with you. Lin can thrive with different coaches and maybe the MDA period for him is done. If there is a reunion, I hope for the best in that scenario.

  • sws94

I remember that. And it’s really impossible to say what Lin is thinking or what how he wants fans to act. I doubt he wants fans to scapegoat coaches and players on his team. I don’t think that’s within his makeup and spirit.

  • Dorothy

Not sure, I think he is a “Lin observer”, not a Lin fan

  • sws94

I didn’t want to do this but some of the reactions to my posts are inappropriate. I think posters need to respect the different types of Lin fans that are on here. And I’ve had too many personal things directed towards me. I love Kemba, I love the Hornets more than Lin and on and on. None of that is true. So I felt I’ve had enough and am expressing it.

  • sws94

Absolute passion for Lin. Dorothy is mistaken but that’s where I think she wants to be. So be it. I kind of don’t care at this point.

  • cdblue10

    It could be both.

  • donsmacau

I have never seen MDA as “limiting” to JLIN.

To the contrary there are specific reasons why MDA is actually “liberating” for JLIN
    1) JLIN has been deceived by each coach/organization he has played for in his NBA career from Woodson, McHale, Scott and yes even Clifford.
    2) MDA is the only coach that allowed JLIN to have full freedom on the floor without any coersion or common mistakes would cause repercussions.

So after so many years, playing for a Coach that JLIN can trust at his word is more important than rolling the dice to risk yet another other organization who would be out to deceive himi.

  • rookie75094

Let’s go Jlin! !!! …spank the Washington Harry potters!!!

  • Check out these 2 players starting PG stats
If you were a coach, which one would you choose?

    Player 1: 15.8pts/7.9asts/3.5reb with 41.2%FGM 25.8% 3FGM (31.1mpg in 19 games)
    Player 2: 17.8pts/4.7asts/4reb with 45.6%FGM 41.5% 3FGM (35mpg in 11 games)

  • DX

The 2nd is Lin, the first is Batum?

  • sws94

Limiting Lin to one coach, not Lin is limited by MDA.

  • sws94

Well, this one is easy but I won’t spoil it for psalm234. 🙂

  • sws94

On the numbers alone, player 2. Those are strong numbers even though the assists are significantly higher for player 1.

  • cdblue10

At first I actually doubt your sincerity towards Lin but reading some of your posts were actually gave some basketball insights towards the Charlotte team as a whole although a lot them were mostly favored Charlotte organization, the coach and other players you still try to balance them between being a fan of the team and being fan of Lin,well I can’t totally blame you on that because that’s what sport’s fans do,same thing w/ some of us as a passionate fans, you really can’t separate physical emotions sometimes.

  • Hint: starting PG 😄

  • TTNN

anyone here use ballstream? Is there anything happend to that site?

  • TTNN

    Ish Smith?

  • MEL LIN

    In the locker room

  • TTNN

LOL, without reading it, I kind of figure whom you are talking about. He is not a troll though. But I get what you are talking about.

  • donsmacau

That isn’t my intended meaning, people see JLIN going to MDA as pigeonholing him and it could not be further from the truth.

Every other team (non-MDA team) has in fact been the ones who have pigeonholed JLIN and I surmise the other 25 teams would try to do same to him. MDA won’t.

  • David Kim

player 2 who had dinner with MDA last year..LOL

  • PPP

I would guess the Suns may want to get rid of Morris instead of Tucker if Hornets want to pick up Tyson. But his 13mil per is also an obstacle.

My guess is Hornets wont do it.

  • David Kim

The Brooklyn Nets will begin formally interviewing candidates for their general manager vacancy on Monday, sources told ESPN.com.

Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov will be in attendance, as will the other members of the team’s GM search committee: Nets chairman of the board of directors Dmitry Razumov, trusted Russian basketball confidant Sergey Kushchenko, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment Brett Yormark and president of ONEXIM Sports & Entertainment Irina Pavlova.

The interview process is expected to last for a few days, sources said.

The Nets have been in contact with over a dozen candidates in their search to nail down the right replacement for Billy King, who was reassigned after a 5 1/2-year tenure filled with blockbuster trades, record-setting spending and little playoff success.

As ESPN.com first reported Jan. 13, two-time executive of the year Bryan Colangelo, who has a wealth of experience at the top of an organization, is a strong candidate for the position.

Former Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry, Denver Nuggets assistant GM Arturas Karnisovas and Houston Rockets executive vice president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas are also expected to receive interviews. The Nets recently received permission from the Nuggets and Rockets to interview Karnisovas and Rosas.

Nets assistant GM Frank Zanin is expected to interview as well.

good point and it should be a rule here

  • sport

You can already bet that all other teams will designate to their star/fake star and marginalizing Lin an these coaches will comply to save their jobs! MDA with his buddy in the front office will have more power than ever! Unless MDA doesn’t want Lin anymore why think of a backup plan? Look at reality! No other team nor coach will allow the Asian guy to succeed nor appreciate his smarts except MDA who’s also been the odd man out in the NBA as well! After so many “LIES” including Clifford, it’s time Lin reunited with a coach he’s close to and trusts him wholeheartedly!

  • sws94

I’m trying to enjoy Lin and I know that the coaches/organization will use him the way they see fit, not us. He still got to show what he can do. First time starting for Batum, 35 points, exciting OT game. Linsanity level. First time starting for Kemba, 24 points, 8 assists, all in front of MJ who pats him on the butt. Linsanity level. He didn’t get this opportunity in LA. He had a much more unpleasant and surly ball hog to deal with in Kobe, a meglomaniac who may have helped Lin in some basketball ways, but turned on him because he didn’t take on the personality Kobe relates to. Then an incompetent coach trashing him and others as well and keeping him from playing with Davis. Things were bad there. So, relatively speaking, and due to how I feel about the NBA in general, Charlotte isn’t so bad to me, nor are his teammates. And he has opportunities to have more Linsanity level games. I hope for a Linsanity(ish) run, bench or starting, it can happen I think. After that, Lin will dictate what he does.

For now I think he’s growing as a person and seems to have fun with his team mates while not having a Kobe to deal with. Another positive.

Sorry to hear about that. I thought they were a good service and people were happy with them. Oh well. I have league pass and that’s fine beyond the blackouts. But it’s expensive.

JLIN has had enough, imo, of the slow ant moving a rubber tree plant from one bad org. to a less bad in the NBA and its coming to an end.

You are free to not believe, but there are those of us who DO believe that leaving Charlotte behind with not another thought to go to his dream job at season end is in his future.

  • sport

Try these free sites, they’re not great, 1st one is usually ok with less lags but will do for now http://www.stream2watch.co/ http://www.batmanstream.com/basketball-live-streaming-video-2016-1.html

  • PPP

I dont think lin graduated from harvard with an idiotic brain. Just sit back, relax and trust what hes gonna do. No one knows better than lin himself. Dont you think?

  • Yascar

Perhaps but MDA himself has been a victim of politics at least twice in his career. He and JLin are not invincible together in any organization.

  • blubell

They were good but their service deteriorated over time. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to renew or not but now I don’t have to decide. lol.

  • donsmacau

MDA is drinking buddies with Jerry Colangelo (the boss of Hinkie who is boss of Brown,) and is top employee in Sixers org. MDA has been described by Philly media as the most powerful employee not named Colangelo.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Where’s Lin as starter?

  • sport

So Player1 is Ish Smith thriving under MDA as associate head coach? If it was Lin, pretty sure his stats would be double of his!

  • sport

    Also loss coming right up!

  • sws94

    Who is this question for?

  • Dorothy

There are plenty other bball discussion groups and team sites he can go to, but he chooses to be on a Lin fan site and criticize Lin fan to be too passionate about Lin SMH

  • bolero
  • PPP

Its to you. If you feel being offended, i apologize.

  • Correct!
    Ish Smith & JLin

If I were MDA, I would certainly look at these stats frequently 😀

  • sws94

    Subway!!?? lol.

  • cdblue10

    16 minutes. 8 pts,4 ast 3 rebs 1 steal

  • Linzen

    Good for you! I still have 200 days+ left… sigh… sigh…

  • sws94

I don’t understand this coming to me. The Lin with MDA only comes from some fans here. I respect Lin whatever decision he makes and it’s his decision. I doubt Lin is only considering one coach or system if and when he decides on another team but only he knows for sure.

  • Linzen

With Lin’s play time limited to 16 mins, I don’t think I will invest in LP. 😡

  • blubell

    Haha… Yup, still debating!

  • Dorothy

    Actions speak more than words

  • Linzen

Only if I can down vote this starting lineup!

  • sws94

What are you talking about? What actions?

  • Linzen

    How about LINSANE mode: 16 minutes. 18pts, 8 ast, 3 rebs & 3 steals… hack, let’s throw in 2 blocks.

    Oh I can dream…

  • TTNN

Thank you. tried firstrow yesterday, not as good.

I had LP for one year, had really bad experience that i pretty much was never able to see any real time game due to bad lagging. This one is so much cheaper than LP.

  • TTNN

true, I think with their expansion of the customers, I got stuck a lot of times. But at least there is archive that I could go to later on.

  • zxcvb

    Colangelo, MDA, Lin…Dream Team.

  • Linzen

    Got this site from Reddit.
    http://reborn4hdlive.org/en/register/?ref=d32c7f20

It looks good. I haven’t tried it yet. And, it cost $50. Not sure if this is better than LP… And, the risk of being shut down is still there.

  • TTNN

wow, did not realized he started for 19 games already. Was wondering that part. Anyway, this is NBA. Last season 76er let him go in the summer, did not resign him even with minimum salary, now the headcoach would go to podcast and say things like how important Ish is to the team.

I never fully trust any headcoach’s interview anyway.

  • cdblue10

    Not bad,not bad….lol

  • LinMad

It’s funny cause I feel like most Lin haters want Lin to be like this all the time. Even when he’s not given the time or touches. Otherwise they aren’t impressed with Lin.

  • Linzen

    Lin haters???

  • cdblue10

This is a good match up,Beal vs. Lin off the bench

  • heart

Stephanie Ready is a Hornets homer. Can’t take her commentaries seriously… She regurgitated Cliff’s disappointment about the bench last night.

  • LinMad

    or some Hornets fans

  • TTNN

He is Lin fan, a special kind though.

He has his own logic that a lot of people don’t really understand.

  • cdblue10

I always listen w/ the opposite team commentaries

  • TTNN

he went to a lot of places I read too, and trust me, he talk about Lin there too.

  • CJSHYY

    Me too.

  • sws94

Lin should play against Wall. He outplays Wall often. Has the size and speed to keep up with him. They challenge each other and usually Lin does quite well against him. I would sub Lin in early and in crucial times to deal with Wall.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

She’s doing her job and that is spreading their agendas.

  • cdblue10

Most of the time they gave better commentaries because they’ll straight up say what they see

  • noob

Washington’s feed just highlighted this as a game between teams with deep benches and pitted it as a battle between Sessions and Lin

  • cdblue10

I hope he will but of course he is not a starter otherwise it’s still a good match up,Lin will be challenged

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I also want to know what they really think about Lin. Don’t really care about what Hornets commentators said… either PR or Politic….

  • cdblue10

that’s the reason why I don’t listen to them,Curry is always saying positive about Lin though

  • LinMad

its impressive how other teams tend to praise Lin more than his own team.

  • sws94

Dudley is an excellent shooter. Marv has his hands full.

  • cdblue10

    Williams

  • blubell

Washington has always been nice to Jeremy because they witnessed Linsanity firsthand 🙂

  • sws94

Sometimes Batum telegraphs his passes to Cody. Cody was surrounded there and Batum caused that TO.

  • blubell

I read somewhere that they offer free trial.

  • LinMad

    he does that a lot.

  • sws94

    Yes.

  • LinMad

and I think Washington has a lot of Lin fans. They make money off of him.

  • sws94

    Dudley is already hot.

  • cdblue10

Kemba can’t guard wall even if he splits his body,it’s just to easy for him

  • cdblue10

    Batum assist to himself…lol

  • LinMad

    batum passes are terrible…

  • cdblue10

    Zeller’s hustle though

  • blubell
  • Lefon Jang

Zeller out hustle old man Gortat!

  • cdblue10

    So easy

  • Lefon Jang

Kemba doesn’t pass the ball to MKG as much as Lin. He only passes to Batum and Williams.

  • sport

The man bun 🙂 Haha really enjoy Lin having a different hairstyle every game!

  • cdblue10

It’s just so easy for Wall

  • sws94

Guard Dudley. Put MKG on him or something.

  • LinMad

it’s a waste of MKG when Kemba is on the floor at point.

  • aras

hey heres an idea..maybe guard dudley its not like hes jj reddick running around all the time, geez

  • blubell

I do too but the man bun not so much. lol.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Did Ready praising Batum, William and Kemba for leadership last night game?

  • cdblue10

    LOL….

  • Lefon Jang

offensively yes. Lin is less bias in terms of who he passes to. As long as they’re open.

  • sport

JLin gels the man bun too flat, needs some volume like Joe Lin’s!

  • cdblue10

    Here you go

  • blubell

    was that a 2 or 3?

  • Lefon Jang

    Lin Welcome to the game!

  • blubell
  • cdblue10

    2222

  • Lefon Jang

    Much better intensity with Lin!

  • LinMad

    ball moving much better

  • sport

Wow another alley opp from Batum to Zeller!

  • Lefon Jang

    Old man Gortat got Zeller

  • sws94

Didn’t need to do that, Jeremy.

  • cdblue10

    Geeezzz

  • Lefon Jang

    take Kemba out !

  • blubell

    iso iso

  • sws94

    Pass it, Kemba.

  • LinMad

why is Kemba trying to shoot it over someone so big

  • cdblue10

    OMG

  • blubell

    assist?

  • LinMad

1 so far. Was that all he got?

  • sws94

Take Kemba out and bring MKG in.

  • cdblue10

Kemba shoot the 3 again w/ no hesitation, clank

  • Lefon Jang

    Kemba is icing Lin

  • LinMad

politics, if it isn’t BROB icing Lin, it’s Kemba or Batum. Lin doesn’t get to be the full backup PG of this team after a great game.

  • cdblue10

It seems that’s the plan.Cliff will staggered MGK to play with Lin

  • sws94

    Hope so.

  • cshot

    of course….

  • sport

Always, don’t want Lin to outshine him.

  • Rick Johnson

    Ready gets really annoying.

  • sport

NBA could seriously invent a mask for all games instead of just injuries as protection for players who want them just like the teeth/mouth guard.

  • LinMad

but Hornets fans will just say “Typical Lin fan with the same old excuse.” ummm..ya cause it’s true. Just watch the game and see for yourself. Lin only does well when he’s PG with the right personnel.

  • blubell

    PG Jeremy?

  • cshot

did Jeremy get The assist for the pass to hawes earlier?

  • LinMad

Frank and Hawes says “Hello” too. You think those bigs are the guys Lin want to work with?

  • Lefon Jang

Hawes dribbled so may be be an assist.

  • blubell

    Lamb ignored Jeremy…

  • sws94

I don’t like Lamb not giving the ball to Lin there. Let Lin orchestrate the offense.

  • LinMad

wow too many people playing PG in 2nd unit. Lin is back to 3 & D?

  • Lefon Jang

    terrible!

  • LinMad

New team for Lin next season. Hornets don’t need another PG they have 8 of them lol

  • Lefon Jang

want to be a PG? play with LIn

  • LinMad

Lin shouldn’t be sacrificing his body for this team that doesn’t let him be PG.

  • Lefon Jang

that’s the reason why lamb is benched so much

  • sws94

    That one went Lin’s way.

  • cdblue10

Why they are playing so tentative

  • Alain Gervais

    This unit suck

  • LinMad

this unit’s off ball movement is horrible.

  • Alain Gervais

Lamb is so lost there that Lin had to tell him twice to move out the way

  • blubell

    Who’s on Beal?

  • Sophie Paris

    Hawes sucks again lol

  • cdblue10

    NO cohesiveness

  • Rick Johnson

Everything Wizards throw up goes in. Hornet’s missing little rim and out bunnies.

  • LinMad

who cares, this is what happens when you have 3 guys who want to play PG and does not want the real PG to be PG.

  • Alain Gervais

    Lamb

  • Lefon Jang

by the end of the season he should be able to get the plays down

  • aras

This unit is rough on the eyes

  • blubell
  • sport

Both Hawes and Lamb missing easy layups now down 10 points!!

  • sport

Time for Lin to be more aggressive and make some shots!

  • sport

Lamb haven’t had minutes for many games, not in rhythm at all; Clifford’s fault!

  • LinMad

Coach is pretty dumb to even allow Batum and Lamb to control the point. They look lost on off ball movement, how can they even draw a play for other guys if they don’t know where to be?

The only thing I can think of is that the people off the ball suck at moving so badly that he’d rather have them pass the ball and the ones who know where to be to create plays.

  • sws94

Used to be the strength of the team, now it isn’t anymore. Not good.

  • Lefon Jang

    just Lamb and Hawes…..and Batum

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Hawes and Lamb now pg with ply no D. Gameover

  • heart

Did I see Kam ignored inbound to Lin?

  • sws94

MKG in this unit would work wonders.

  • blubell

Saw it too. Went for a risky pass to Batum.

  • Alain Gervais

    What a mess

  • LinMad

Batum deserves max contract cause he asked ref to wipe the sweat off the basketball which is a veteran move.

  • blubell

    Lamb is frustrating to watch…

  • sws94

WHat was that? A Lamb airball was the plan?

  • sport

Darn it going to miss this game cause of CNY family dinner. Hope JLin starting shooting lights out. Will come back for highlights.

  • Lefon Jang

Kemba should lead the bench so he can shoot all night

  • blubell
  • heart

So far I saw most of offense possessions was for NB..

  • LinMad

I think Clifford is happy with this bench unit cause they aren’t outshining the starters anymore. Even Cliff empowered Lin at PG, that would be a different story.

  • cdblue10

    LOL

  • Dorothy

Lol hope you are not serious

  • LinMad

what the heck is going on? Why Batum take such a bad shot like that?

  • Alain Gervais

    This is just laughable

  • Sophie Paris

    Hawes again lmao

  • sws94

This may be it for the bench. Lin may come out. We’ll see.

  • cdblue10

I think something is going on at the back door

  • noob

Poor ball movement. He never gets it back once he gives it up

  • LinMad

well deserved failure. If Cliff empowered Lin at PG, you know Batum or Lamb would pass the ball to Lin when they get rebounds or anything. But they don’t, which means Cliff doesn’t want the ball in Lin hands and he doesn’t want Lin to be point guard.

  • aras

This unit consist of scrubs its laughable how they play together…

  • Alain Gervais

    Batum and Lamb iso heavy

  • Lefon Jang

you cant shoot if you dont get the ball

  • blubell

    LOL. It’s almost automatic now.

  • LinMad

It looks like a clueless unit with 1 real PG (Lin) and 2 wannabe PGs (Batum and Lamb).

  • Sophie Paris

He has like 1 good game every 10 games smh

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin is playing with unit moving 5 mpg. WNBAs run harder and faster than Hawes, Kaminsky and Batum.

  • Lefon Jang

    and a wannabe big

  • spiderman

Clifford is not a winner. He’s a happy loser

  • sws94

That was an MKG is cold TO. Good to see him and Lin together. But for how long?

  • Solo

    Awww, thats impressive !!

  • cdblue10

Porter,Beal,Dudley and Beal are killing the Hornets. That’s on Kemba,Batum and Lamb

  • sws94

Well, there’s the answer. Not long.

  • Illbe

The bench looked awful…Batum shouldn’t be out there with them…really slow motion with lazy passes on offense…definitely not clicking and its not Lin’s fault…no one setting screens for him. Boring 🙁

  • Lefon Jang

Lamb is the problem with the bench now, missing shots and no defense.

  • zxcvb

Clifford determined to win without Lin. He’s been the 4th playmaker and 5th option.

The man loves himself some Kemba, win or lose. Mostly lose.

  • sws94

Lamb was the problem. Batum wasn’t great but Lamb was horrible.

  • Alain Gervais

    go wizards

  • LinMad

Hornets trying to devalue Jeremy Lin. Won’t even let him play PG in 2nd unit. Letting Batum and Lamb dribble and play point guard. It’s a setup for failure. They want the L.

  • Guest

What did the hornets serve the team for lunch and dinner? It is effecting the entire team play.

  • Alain Gervais

    50-34

  • Alain Gervais

    Cliff deserves this

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Even Hawes wanted to play pg.

  • cdblue10

They make Porter as a superstar

  • Dorothy

    51:34

  • blubell
  • Lefon Jang

Cliff cant expecting different result if he keeps doing the same thing!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Ready blames 2nd unit already.

  • cdblue10

This is gonna be a murder

  • Lefon Jang

NBA League Pass is at least 10 secs behind!

  • blubell

I think its 15-30 sec delay.

  • travis

    Coach cliff is a joke

  • sws94

This is garbage. Not fun to watch at all. Disappointed in the team’s effort. Clifford needs to step it up and find better plays, defensive schemes and rotations to maximize his players.

  • cdblue10

I think something is going on behind the scene

  • sws94

He’s coaching this game worse than the last one. He needs to make some adjustments fast in the 2nd half. It may already be too late. Washington smells blood and they are having a ball steamrolling the Hornets.

  • blubell
  • aras

He needs a second unit that knows their role would be a start. Far too many times you see Lamb take over the point or batum. Lin cant be off guard on the second unit thats an disservice to the team. fine on the first unit but second unit no. Its getting tiring to watch garbage basketball

  • blubell

    trade?

  • Lefon Jang

    Kemba?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Kemba back, everyone does the hero ball. They abandon team-ball, start with Hawes.

  • Sophie Paris

    Garbage time almost

  • cdblue10

    Possible

  • blubell

    yes, please? lol

  • sws94

Lamb is absolute garbage out there. Take him out. Get MKG in there or Marv or someone capable.

  • LinMad

Cliff can blame the bench again cause well…he set it up like this and knew it was going to happen. Lin barely touched the ball first half. I think Batum and Lamb played more point than Lin did. And they played SG more too. Great way to ice Lin.

Can Lin play with teammates who don’t think they are Superman?

  • cdblue10

They’re too tentative with their game

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin back in

  • sws94

Lin closing the quarter. Weird rotations.

  • cdblue10

Kemba is out…what do you think guys?

  • Lefon Jang

    I think good

  • Hope

    Kw is gone.

  • Lefon Jang

Desperate move by Cliff to let Lin runs the point

  • JoeTeam

immediately back to NBA bball …

  • Lefon Jang

Gortat’s got to be 50 yrs old

  • LinMad

What a joke…coach lets players walk all over Lin cause he set it up that way. Now he decides to play Lin at point but guys are still walking over him.

  • Alain Gervais

Im surprise Cliff reacted well Lead down to 10

  • cdblue10

All of the sudden we’ve seen life

  • LinMad

brought in guys who will play defense.

  • JoeTeam

    john wall 3′ short lol.

  • cdblue10

and lead cut down to 10

  • Sophie Paris

    Lin’s effect.

  • JoeTeam

definitely saw lin covering and causing contested bricks.

  • Alain Gervais

That line up was the one that beat the cavs. Who would of thought they are pretty good

  • sws94

    Yes.

  • travis

J lin plays team ball and team defense, will never bring down teams rythym

  • blubell

No Kemba is a good thing too.

  • Alain Gervais

Yea but we got the ball so w.e

  • heart

Like I said in my earlier post, most or all possessions are set up for Batum when playing w/ Lin. Lin basically passes instead of scoring. Lin is being used for defense like in early season again.

  • LinMad

I don’t think anyone else besides Lin has played with so many different lineups. It’s like he doesn’t belong on this team.

  • cdblue10

He needs to start at the point so it balances the defense

  • sws94

Got to say, Batum hit some big shots there. MKG, Batum and Lin are a great combo.

  • JoeTeam

ok, so Cliff now knows for today, even if just today, JLin can turn the team on. Just give him the minutes, and this is a downhill run just like against a full CLE team. If you have to day Delly can’t start, you are making excuses lol.

  • sws94

    Without Kemba.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin in for 1 thing, defense.

  • gandychan

That was a sign of playing timid basketball. No confidence today. Dammit!

  • JoeTeam

because JLin was in there threatening, and always as a bailout to reset the offense, so Batum could take his time and figure it out. You can see the whole shape of the D and O changing to team/NBA bball when Lin was running point.

  • Alain Gervais

I thought cliff was smart. look like he just got lucky https://twitter.com/CNM_JLin_Vids/status/696137907967492096

  • sws94

He needs to get the ball consistently. Sometimes Batum bringing it up is OK but let Lin establish a rhythm. Coach needs to understand that about Lin’s game.

  • aras

Ok its clear as day that Batum will always be the facilitator on both units. it will never work Lin is being used for nothing on offense this first half. This team needs Lin to perform to get to the playoffs, But if this is how he is going to be utilized when they are at full health. good luck with it

  • Singapore BB Fan

Confidence up when JLin was back in . the psycho effect.

  • LinMad

it’s apparent that Lin is being used for defense only. It’s what Cliff wants. Sad and wasted talent. I honestly don’t see how Lin will get in rhythm second half. There are so many players treading on his PG role. It’s almost like we have 8 different PGs on this team or something. Even our bigs want to be PG. But when Kemba is on the floor, everyone recognizes he’s a PG and they will pass him the ball to lead the unit although he will shoot it himself most the time.

  • LinMad

ya right…in past games he would play Kemba even if he had 3 fouls.

  • blubell

I see lots of movement when Kemba is out.

  • Lefon Jang

Speaking of Psycho, kinda miss Psycho T

  • JoeTeam

its weird … against cle, lin was doing his role. with kw back, everyone doing lin’s job on 2nd unit and first.

  • cdblue10

And we thought that he was taken out for something, smh

  • Singapore BB Fan

    Best comment so far

  • Alain Gervais

We have seen Lin play with 2 fouls as well as other players so idk if its true

  • JoeTeam

    high 5 bro!

  • Sophie Paris

Ofc… Kemba is the problem lol

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Just his guessing. 2 fouls on that late of 1st half was not trouble.

  • Lefon Jang

oh c’mon tell me it aint so

  • aras

highly unlikely he will get it going on the second half. the way he is being used we ought to be happy if he gets 7 points and 4 assists

  • JoeTeam

memo to front office; I’m mad and I won’t take it anymore. When I sit out on the bench, I expect Batum to play PG. That CLE game was a travesty!

  • joyce ward

I think there are trade rumors floating around in the locker room and people trying to show their versatility so the won’t get traded. LOL

  • JoeTeam

    you have good eyes!

  • Singapore BB Fan

Wish they have the Hi5 emoji here. Keep it up bro!!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    high one for you too.

  • blubell
  • Dorothy

On the other hand we want Lin to be traded

  • blubell

    Backfired. LOL

  • LinMad

Maybe they are trying to sell Batum and Kemba. Got to boost both their value up?

  • JoeTeam

I will try to root for Cliff being able to put 2 and 2 together.

  • JoeTeam

doesn’t have to get to that, it’s just some insider complaining that’s the simplest answer.

  • cdblue10

    And a better defense

  • Dorothy

    No that would be delushional

  • zxcvb

No excuse for Kemba’s awful play. He gets the ball every possession and multiple touches almost every possession. He never faces a double-team and sometimes gets no coverage at all — teams know he’ll shoot them out of the game as always (5 seasons of poor W-L records).

Since Cleveland, Lin is the 5th option and has no plays run for him. I like that he’s just sitting back and not re-injuring himself. CHA has shown that they will never value him no matter how superior a starting PG he is. His only hope, and it’s not too far out, is to reunite with MDA or maybe even George Karl. Until then…whatever. Health is all that matters.

  • JoeTeam

    hey hi!

  • DX

    Feel like Lin is leaving.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Sessions always got screened to free from Lin.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    So will we.

  • DX

2nd thing, bring the ball to Batum or Kemba.

  • cdblue10

    Hope to playoff team

  • Hope

    Paul is ignorant as always.

  • LinMad

the argument that Lin gets his minutes don’t even matter anymore if he doesn’t get touches. He can have 40 minute game with 3 touches on this team.

  • LinMad

Cliff did him like that. DEFENSE. DEFENSE. GIVE IT TO BATUM. NOOOOO PASS IT BACK TO LAMB.

  • cdblue10

    I lowered my expectations

  • Hope

    To 76ers. Can’t wait

  • zxcvb

Yep. That’s why there’s no use complaining about Lin’s low stats. Whenever he gets touches, he puts up high stats and the win…and then gets demoted ASAP for making Kemba look bad.

  • sws94

Why do you say that? He might be right.

  • Alain Gervais

He never gets the ball back

  • zxcvb

No way. I don’t want to see him shoot 2-10 and get injured. No plays are run for him at all — even Curry and Lebron couldn’t do jack with Lin’s minutes and touches.

  • LinMad

if Cliff wanted to he could draw up plays for Lin to shoot but he isn’t. That way he would get more touches but he wont if Lamb and Batum are playing point and trying to get their stats.

  • JoeTeam

when you or people say rhythm, I tend to think Lin just needs to test out what will work over many possessions and then he gets in the team flow and they are in it with him. That’s what it means to me. I mean, would any NFL team work if they changed QBs every play? No Aaron Rodgers 2 last minute plays like this year. That’s what’s needed for Lin to pull out hard wins, or downhill runs. GSW can do it because the whole team works toward this together, no matter who is out there. But when Steph is in, it’s a whole other level.

  • sws94

Can’t say. Lin sometimes is so-so the first half and dynamite the second. He started off with a nice drive and score. Needs to look to score more I think, or penetrate more. Assists can come if he feeds Batum or MKG, but who knows if he’ll play with MKG in the 2nd half. Frank is still off his game and Lamb needs to be benched.

  • Lefon Jang

    not when they’re down 17pts

  • sws94

I don’t know about timid. But not as decisive and aggressive as he can be.

  • zxcvb

I wouldn’t be surprised if Lin has already informed them so.

With all the coaching firings and rumors (Hollins, Hornacek, Karl…), it’s very possible that MDA might have a job lined up (Phoenix? Philly? Brooklyn?). In which case, the Hornets don’t need to please Lin at all.

  • JoeTeam

I didn’t check, but factually he probably is right. But I am betting Cliff is trying something because of that excuse, and I hope Cliff has it in his mind now he’s going to win tonight. Give Lin the ball for 2nd unit to catch up, then insert Lin for the last 40 sec instead of 20 lol.

  • joyce ward

Hey, how are you? I hope lin helps them win.

  • JoeTeam

me too. Missed you here as I’m only here not on tw verse. A bust of a season, but JLin still gives me great hope for all the goodness in people.

  • cdblue10

If Dudley can drive on you then there’s a problem

  • Lefon Jang

12 – 1 run with Lin on the floor at the end of 1st half

  • sws94

Get touches every possession in succession. Not watching Lamb and Batum and others fumble it around.

  • JoeTeam

nice I ‘felt’ it but you called it. nice.

  • joyce ward

Do you think lin is doing this on purpose? He is doing what he’s been told to do. smh

  • JoeTeam

yep, Cliff has to start coaching. Can’t just put Lin in for D and have him fend for himself. That’s stupid bball, and I see it all the time in leaders who don’t mean to, but they set people up to fail.

  • sws94

    Very fair point.

  • Lefon Jang

    couldn’t buy a rebound

  • Alain Gervais

Let see if Lin plays the third

  • aras

i’ll say if he plays with batum and MKG he will perform. but if put with scrubs like Lamb he wont. LAmb strikes me as a dion waiters type player, Thinking they are better then what they really are. Now lamb is a great shooter and should play to his strengths…but its when he starts playing PG distrups the whole system.

  • sws94

    Another ridiculous Batum pass.

  • LinMad

Cliff gonna do him like last game. At end of 4th, he will stick him in for 23 seconds of defense.

  • JoeTeam

there are 2-3 people on this site who tend to enjoy posting lin normal % misses or tries as if they are confirming proof that they themselves are better than Lin. One for sure is a troll, others are just lin fans who are working on something inside themselves. You always call it I see you here upvote.

  • LinMad

i don’t know how anyone sees him as a facilitator. He cannot pass when moving and he likes to telegraph his passes.

  • Lefon Jang

    yup iso kimba

  • Dorothy

No it will not be a close game lol

  • LinMad

MJ won’t even show up unless Lin starts at PG

  • Lefon Jang

    PJ is a forgotten man

  • DX

MJ is celebrating Chinese New Year Eve Eve! 🙂

  • blubell
  • LinMad

I’m going to call this Hornets ZzzZzzzZZzzZZZzzzball

  • blubell

    Discarded. sad…

  • cdblue10

It’s really hard for me to enjoy this game,my whole day is ruined again,I should have just go to work for OT.

  • Lefon Jang

    grab a beer

  • Dan Ang

Dang, Gortat just got a goaltending call, why can’t JLin??

  • cdblue10

    That’s what I’m doing now

  • DX

More sad is PJ was starting so many games.

  • LinMad

Batum’s airballs and bad passes = max contract

  • Lefon Jang

    airball batum now?

  • DX

    Batum 5-14, 5 TOs. WoW

  • Lefon Jang

I give him a max contract in the D league

  • DX

Maybe not the top D league teams.

  • travis

    Extremely overrated/overused

  • Alain Gervais

    29 minutes already

  • LinMad

when you get more TOs than assists, you’re not really facilitating.

  • I am The Jason

He was just a placeholder. A substitute wing defender.

  • CaliUSMC

on my second crown and coke.

  • DX

Yes, coach should tell him stop passing the ball.

  • cdblue10

My 3rd bottle on my corona

  • Alain Gervais

I feel like i did early in the season. Really dislike watching them play but i do anyways

  • LinMad

PJ and Lin are discarded. Lin just getting minutes just for the minutes. It’s better if Lin sits out with DNP like PJ and Hornets tank this season.

  • cdblue10

    Walker clank

  • sws94

Lamb needs to sit. Like I said, MKG is the guy who should be with Lin.

  • cdblue10

They’re on striking distance, the more that we won’t seeLin now.

  • LinMad

that’s only cause Wizards are sucking right now

  • DX

Kemba & Batum 9-26 Chunk bros.

  • sws94

Ugly possession. Time for a substitution.

  • Alain Gervais

    Wizards missing everything

  • sws94

Batum having a strange game. Makes big baskets and bad TOs.

  • LinMad

Batum’s value just rose another $10 million for that play.

  • Lefon Jang

he jacked up that shot coz he felt the contact. lucky it went in

  • LinMad

Batum’s value dropped $10 million for missing that free throw though.

  • sws94

Utilize personnel better and combo of players. And faster substitutions.

  • DX

    That’s a con.

  • LinMad

Wizards were shooting 18% no wonder we came back.

  • DX

    So now is 0. 🙂

  • sws94

Batum is stepping up. Good for him.

  • Alain Gervais

    yup

  • DX

    Just compete who is worse.

  • sws94

Yes, but he’s made a lot of big shots. Today he’s showing urgency and is really kind of carrying the team.

  • LinMad

    not impressed *yawn*

  • Illbe

    normal for him

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Ball movement now better than the 2nd unit with Hawes n Lamb.

  • sws94

OK. Playing with the duds is just weighing him down.

  • DX

Just keep shooting, will get luck anyway.

  • DX

    Finally, Lin is in.

  • sws94

I think it’s more a rhythm. He got his shot falling and he’s in a flow.

  • LinMad

wow another bad pass by Batum…

  • Alain Gervais

    all iso ball

  • cdblue10

I think he just sub in to give a breather for someone

  • Lefon Jang

he’s clearly not looking to pass to lin at the corner

  • Alain Gervais

What a different team. All iso ball. Lin not involved at all

  • Dorothy

Not touch the ball at all

  • LinMad

it was a good foul though. Stopped the clock at 8.

  • sws94

I hate that type of foul. No call. Lin is just playing defense.

  • DX

    Yes, just watch.

  • travis

Batum and Kemba get to play lots of minutes resulting in lin playing sf most of the time

  • LinMad

we’re going to lose. Cliff will pull out Lin like last game when 2nd unit isn’t doing well.

  • DX

Did you see he has the ball?

  • travis

Stop acting like he’s had open looks which he passed up

  • sws94

What are you talking about. Has he even had the ball?

  • Alain Gervais

    datum ever rest

  • LinMad

ask yourself how many times he touched the ball.

  • Lefon Jang

    6 TO!

  • LinMad

Batum is the superhuman TO machine.

  • DX

    Try to make Quartet Doubles.

  • LinMad

Lin barely touches the ball, when he does hes looking to pass to other players to make easy buckets. If he touches it more, he would shoot more.

  • heart

Lin came in around 2 min left in 3Q, stood in corner 3 most of the time, NO touches, and got a PHANTOM foul at .8 sec left!

  • sws94

Lin can play D on Wall. Wall can’t shake Lin.

  • LinMad

he needs to hit everything according to you he can’t miss.

  • blubell
  • heart

Why don’t you ask NB or KW to pass Lin the rock or set him up for easy basket! Have you seen it in this stretch? NO!

  • Alain Gervais

    Bad foul by Lin

  • LinMad

i don’t know how her parents will tell her that Lin isn’t staying next season. I hope she asks her parents to move to Detroit or Brooklyn.

  • sws94

Yes. But good D. Just has to shake it off.

  • DX

Lin looks no fighting spirit now.

  • travis

Bad spacing and no picks set for lin

  • Lefon Jang

no one is cutting everyone expecting batum to get the ball

  • heart

He’s dispirited w/this kind of treatment. Took him out of rhythm yet expects him to produce. No more giving a Big discount to any team Lin!

  • Dorothy

I dont blame him with this team…

  • LinMad

maybe cause he was observer 90% of the game?

  • cshot

i find it disturbing to see cliff go off on lin for that foul. i wanna see you go off on datum or kemba like that

  • Alain Gervais

thats the first time. Lin was wrong

  • LinMad

This is all coaching problem. You have too many PGs on your team who shouldn’t be. When Lin gets the ball they are expecting someone else to make the play.

  • cshot

not the first. I’ve seem him do it a good couple times through the season

  • LinMad

it’s happened before in another game. Maybe 3-5 times before.

  • Alain Gervais

Lamb is touching the ball more then Lin

  • aras

Alright…i said to myself i would hold my judgement on how lin would be handled when team was at full health..so far he is nothing more than PG who brings the ball up the halfcourt and passes it off to batum. and playing a little defense here and there. He is not a PG on this team.

  • cdblue10

    I give up for today

  • Alain Gervais

Lin just not involved. Maybe he don’t wanna be involved

  • LinMad

Cliff yells at him more than anyone else on this team. We saw what happened when he yelled at him the other game. He lost his involvement on offense.

  • Alain Gervais

    sop it

  • LinMad

    stop stating the truth?

  • DX

Watching this game is very uncomfortable.

  • joyce ward

Are you serious right now? Perhaps the instructions are is get the ball to Batum. smh

  • cdblue10

    He’s actually right

  • Alain Gervais

    ITs a flat out lie

  • sws94

    Exactly.

  • Alain Gervais

    He is lying

  • LinMad

    no it isn’t.

  • cdblue10

He actually screamed at that foul from Wall

  • sws94

CAn only go by what I see on TV. It’s PJ and Lamb that gets it from Cliff most. He says Good Jeremy a lot. Occasionally Lin gets yelled at but not that much from what I’ve seen.

  • Alain Gervais

The first time in a long time. Lin early makes mistake like that

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Live on tv, what lie?

  • LinMad

you obviously didn’t see the other games then. When Lin had a TO, Cliff went apes**t. Batum has so many TOs this game and not a whisper about it.

  • Alain Gervais

    exactly

  • sws94

This stint Lin looks tentative and I don’t know why. This has happened on more than one team and I can’t figure out why this happens with him.

  • LinMad

Did you see the time smoke went out Cliff’s ear from a Lin TO? His face was so red and I think he cussed and punched the air. I wouldn’t make this up.

  • LinMad

    Marginalized.

  • DX

I would like Lin sit out, so don’t need to watch this game at all.

  • sws94

Can any of this be on Lin. Something about him and not someone else?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That was stupid foul, any screaming from cliff?

  • Alain Gervais

    go wizs

  • heart

Dell said, “Cliff continues to have ears in the locker room bc he speaks the truth.” SMH! Hornets media are selling Cliff’s image as a truth teller to casual fan observers…

  • Dorothy

    Lin done

  • JoeTeam

nice, Lin is in to be Andre Iguodala today. I can live with that.

  • LinMad

No, cause he only took 3 shots and most of us agreed that he didn’t get enough touches today. He shot 3 times and Batum/Lamb were more PG than Lin this game for the 2nd unit. Cliff is obviously using Lin for defense but he’s doing it all wrong.

  • blubell
  • Alain Gervais

Im happy Lin is out that was not enjoyable

  • Alain Gervais

Now i can say go wiz

  • heart

    Go Wiz!

  • blubell

This whole game was not enjoyable.

  • JoeTeam

he’ll be back when WAS catches up.

  • LinMad

As soon as Lin sat down, Wall makes a 3 over Kemba.

  • Rick Johnson

    Lin out lead gone

  • Alain Gervais

Idk why i sit throw this but i do

  • LinMad

    Lin out, Wall on fire.

  • Dorothy

    go Wizards!!!!!

  • Alain Gervais

    correct

  • cdblue10

    Get used to it bell

  • blubell

I tuned out here and there. I’m not watching it now lol

  • cshot

    peace out

  • sws94

This I agree with. This is the NBA and coaches yell. Move on.

  • Alain Gervais

    smart man(or women)

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Lin face expresses everything.

  • LinMad

That’s not on him. That’s confusion on who is the real PG for the unit. They expect Batum to get the ball and make a play so they wait. They are icing Lin out. They want Lin to pass it to Batum.

  • JoeTeam

well, right now, it looks like Cliff needs Lin in to win. Wall just brought them back over KW>

  • LinMad

It’s Chinese New Year too. Lin should go on vacation for a little while.

  • Lefon Jang

Lin runs plays but if no one follows then nothing he can about it

  • Alain Gervais

I honestly cant believe this was Cliff great idea this offseason

  • travis

Bad spacing he received the ball on the wing with lamb on his right it’s either shoot pass or pnr and he was way to deep to shoot

  • LinMad

exactly, Lamb isn’t very good at running plays. No one on the unit move off the ball when he gets it. They force him to pass it to someone else. Cliff is just a bad coach for putting Lin in a unit that doesn’t respect him.

  • MoominFloren

I thought Lin will be better utilized after the cavs game and during Chinese new year….I am completely wrong!!!

  • sws94

I think this has happened before and Lin was aggressive and imposed his will on the team. He does it sometimes and sometimes he doesn’t and looks the opposite of that player. That’s the question. What is up with that?

  • aras

Look at Lins body language it says it all for you to be honest. its on Lin to make the best of the situation he has been given, which he has, but these 2 games it would be hard for anyone to perform the way he is being used.

  • sws94

He’s not looking to impose his will like he does when he’s going well. This game he seems to not be playing his game. That’s what I’m asking. When he’s going well, regardless of what anyone’s doing, he takes charge. In the spacing, he’ll pass it, but he’s just not showing that fire tonight or confidence.

  • blubell

    He is human.

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin coming in

  • LinMad

    no, please sit him.

  • Alain Gervais

We both knew this way before

  • Yascar

His first regular game with the Lakers. Against Hou. He played exactly like this. I wish I knew what it was.

  • sws94

    Lin coming in soon.

  • Lefon Jang

gotta stop the kemba Batum alternating iso

  • joyce ward

I’m telling yall trade talk going down in that locker room. People know that they are on the chopping block.

  • blubell

Who do you think will be traded?

  • cdblue10

    2222222

  • cdblue10

    Kemba

  • blubell

    222222222222222

  • blubell

    Clutch!

  • Alain Gervais

Lin has to be more aggressive like that in the 1st 3 quarters

  • joyce ward

Don’t know, but they all are playing scared and tentative.

  • blubell
  • JoeTeam

there you go fans, clutch Lin.

  • Lefon Jang

    Mr. 4th Quarter!

  • LinMad

Lin makes the best clutch play of the game.

  • JoeTeam

    great minds think alike.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin and ms=Kg switching for offense /defense

  • sws94

That’s my boy. Lin is clutch.

  • JoeTeam

    chop chop then.

  • LinMad

    Lin picking up the leftovers

  • sws94

Credit Marv too with the big rebound.

  • LinMad

if anything Lin should be in for defense over Kemba

  • Alain Gervais

    that won’t happen

  • guest

Clifford trying to win again without Lin. smh

  • blubell
  • LinMad

Clifford was upset that Lin scored that time? LMAO the play wasnt’ for Lin but Cody messed up.

  • joyce ward

I don’t think so. Cliff knows that lin is an intelligent defensive player.

  • Alain Gervais

Defense/ offense switch Bev/Lin did it in houston

  • JoeTeam

What just happened? Lin scored a key layup and he sits?

  • Alain Gervais

    333333

  • Dorothy

    33333

  • cdblue10

that’s the best clutch player ever

  • sws94

MKG and LIn alternating, offense/defense. I said this might happen earlier before the game.

  • LinMad

but we had a couple more offenses where Lin didn’t come back in. It was a fluke that Lin scored. The play wasn’t even for him.

  • travis

Haha lin never fails to surprise

  • Alain Gervais

He couldn’t waste the Time outs

  • LinMad

    HUGE 33333333

  • blubell
  • MoominFloren

Damn my LP hanged in 45 sec left

  • Lefon Jang

    Taking care of business!!!

  • zxcvb

    NOOOOOOOOOO

I HATE Lin hitting that and winning this game for Clifford. Kemba was choking it away and now Lin is going to win it with 2 clutch buckets. *sigh*

  • blubell
  • travis

Did u guys see lin faking being confused to set up the play

  • ViNuyork

    wooohooo—3…….

  • sws94

That makes up for everything. I’m bouncing off the walls. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!

  • LinMad

The Lin fans in the crowd went crazy.

  • JoeTeam

believe me now, Dorothy? that’s the hard part of being a lin fan … he can win it in 1 minute.

  • zxcvb

All fans did. Lin wins. Kemba chokes.

  • blubell
  • Lefon Jang

    That’s why I watch Lin

  • JoeTeam

that is really stupid coaching. Proven by Lin’s 3. Weird coaching bro.

  • blubell
  • LinMad

I wonder if that was another fluke by Lin. Do you think Batum was supposed to shoot it?

  • Dorothy

    Yep

  • LinMad

ya that play was drawn for Batum I believe. Since when does Clifford draw a big shot for Lin? LOL

  • KL

Clifford is like nevermind if Kemba threatened to get me fired, I wanna win this!

  • blubell
  • Lefon Jang

At the end of the night, it’s all LIN

  • LinMad

I doubt it. Kemba would be the second option.

  • LinMad

how does he know this? He doesn’t.

  • guest

At least Batum made the right pass because he didn’t have a shot if it was drawn up for him instead of forcing it. Good decision because he has been playing well today and could have forced the shot, but didn’t!

  • Lefon Jang

    Batum was a decoy

  • travis

    Definetly

  • blubell

Cliff said he knows Jeremy likes to have the ball during crunch time so I guess he gave it to Jeremy. who knows.

  • LinMad

Maybe Cliff wanted to draw that big play for Lin cause if he missed it, you know how many Hornets fans would be upset with Lin? But he made it and his fanbase just grew a little more.

  • Alain Gervais

    wow

  • Lefon Jang

    Gotta hit the rim Wall!

  • sws94

Brain fart by Wall. Ball has to hit the rim.

  • LinMad

NO, if he trust Lin he would let him play PG more and get more touches.

  • JoeTeam

Lin >>> Wall on missing FT on purpose. Just sayin’

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • heart

Still don’t like how Cliff uses Lin. Lin is being jerked around and yet he’s still performed beyond expectation. Lin is a Clutch Mr. 4th Quarter when the game is on the line!

  • LinMad

I’m upset that Lin’s highlights today will only be about 2 minutes long. Thanks to Cliff.

  • cdblue10

One of the best CLUTCH PLAYER that I’ve ever seen.

  • sws94

Strange win and Lin is a huge part of it.

  • JoeTeam

excellent game finisher by Lin. Cliff has some mental or policy handcuffs on him. Still, with the min. time, in, 6MOY Lin does it!

  • blubell
  • sws94

It’s not necessary. Just let Lin play, don’t need MKG in there if Lin is there for his clutchness. But, I did have a feeling that is what coach would do.

  • guest

This is starting to become like the Rockets all over again.

  • The #SmiLinAssassin 🙂

  • aras

People might be happy but i sure aint.. Great Clutch play in the end but take away those 2 baskets and he has 2 points. playing like he is going to be traded. maybe Lin is included in the greg monroe trade who knows.

  • sws94

I think he feels better now. Maybe something else was bothering him and made him play like this. But, coach certainly had Lin looking more into the game by inserting him in and Lin made coach look good.

  • LinMad

it’s not that he had a so-so game. He wasn’t given a chance to shine today. He was shooting 50% on 2 FGs before. How is that so-so? If anything, Cliff should have called timeout and make him get the ball more. Lin has to prove himself every game.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin is a free agent so i guess that is ok. Lin has to know this and score when in there. He won’t be playing that much anymore. So 2 shots in a haif is a nono. Get the sixth man trophy. pick a new team

  • Barry Allen

Sadly, most of the NBA only cares about volume production.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    lol

  • Yascar

I don’t always agree with you my friend, but tonight high five mate! 👍

  • blubell
  • james brown

well if you will just trust a player just for 1 play, then that trust is only for that one..agreed?..because you find trust on the player he is playing longer especially when its crunch time,..but where is Jlin there..again the match up reason? lets be real…Lin is not the apple of the eye of cliff and hornets..its KW comes winning or losing!

  • cdblue10

I’m still with Lin as the main PG and a team that more deserve his skills and abilities bandwagon.NY baby!!!!!

  • LinMad

Ya that clutch play is from Lin. No one else can take credit for that. If you want Lin to perform well, give him the ball more.

  • joyce ward

Cliff trust lin because lin will do the play just how he sets it up. Walker/Batum will go off script in a heartbeat and jack it up. This was a really bad game/win which it wouldn’t need to be, if everybody wasn’t trying to play hero ball tonight. To me that is on the coach to stop this. Lin does all of the heavy lifting for the team, and he knows that. I am not mad about lin becoming this defensive goat, because it is adding to his skill set. This is making lin a well rounded player..

  • Lefon Jang

Love to see Lin back in NY

  • takemeback2reaganyears

It was for Batum to get quick 2. Paul is dreaming and he needs to stop thinking he’s an expert.

  • LinMad

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to shoot it early game…or even play make. Lin is capable of playmaking and shooting early game. He’s just clutch late game. It should be the icing on the cake, not just icing on the table.

  • lol Lin’s missed FT had better execution =)
    It actually touched the rim!

  • sws94

And a very terrific one at that. Proud of how he stepped up after having what looked like a frustrating game. He showed his worth and clutchness.

  • Charlie Sun

I will consider it a good season if JLin wins 6th man of the year given the circumstances. And perhaps a turning point in JLin’s career.

  • Promo Sports World

jeremy is happy….too many minutes for batum….he is going to break down

  • blubell

did you see this cute little kid with the mohawk? I’m sure she was happy with Jeremy’s clutch performance 🙂

    Good observation, well said

  • Lefon Jang

he’s going to sprain his little toe again

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Good move that Cliff sent in MKG but he took out the wrong one.

  • joyce ward

Lin’s contract is too cheap. I don’t think lin is going anywhere. I think Kemba, Kaminsky, and Lamb might be on the chopping block.

  • LinMad

i agree, but to completely take him out of the offense early game is a waste to this game. We could have blown the Wizards away if Cliff knew how to play Lin properly at PG. Not some observer at the corner who passes the ball to Batum all the time.

  • blubell

His hard work always pays off and he will find a starting role somewhere. Don’t know when but he just has to continue to overcome the hurdles and work harder until he does. He will be fine 🙂

  • sws94

That one I understood. Maybe just butterflies against his old team. This game, he’s home, he played amazingly on Wednesday, off game yesterday, and tonight just wasn’t right. Until crunch time. Then he just put it in gear and calmly hits 2 shots. No hesitation on either.

I just say wow and hope that Lin mostly has his more aggressive game most games. I guess we can expect this hesitance from time to time.

  • james brown

you said it right..cliff making and letting bum plays comes to this crunch time which was not needed for they can win it easy to let the “trust” comes in just for the last seconds or minutes of the game? its so obvious whose being groomed either for a trade of really to be the core of the team..KW and Batum.

  • blubell

    very short highlights

  • Arsenium12 .

Her hair looks much longer than Lin’s. There must be reinforcement in there somewhere. 🙂

  • joyce ward

Look, Clifford was the one who got MJ to bite to bring in Batum, so Clifford has to try to sell Batum. So far to me, Batum has been mediocre at best at least for all the money they paid him. He has been on the injured list constantly.

  • Sophie Paris

If he goes back to NY I’m moving right away lol

  • Dan Ang

    JLIN WITH THE DAGGER!…NOSTALGIC!

  • Sophie Paris

    Short but clutch !

  • james brown

its not even harnessing the talent of a player but limiting ones talent to coach choices!

  • LinMad

Tbh, I feel like this was all a fluke on the coaching side. I don’t think they wanted Lin to take any clutch shots. If they did, they were trying to devalue Lin by hoping he missed the shots. If Lin only takes the clutch shots from now on, you know many fans would be upset with him when he misses them 40-60% of the time. It will be a roller coaster ride for Lin fans. All we would care about is his final shots.

Game would be pretty boring like today too. I almost fell asleep.

  • blubell

    AllLin 🙂

  • takemeback2reaganyears

It’s foolish to think that 3 was designed for Lin.

  • joyce ward

These last games has really shown that Walker adds nothing to the team. He is an iso player. He isn’t a good passer and he has tunnel vision at the PG position.

  • james brown

who would want a player whom they can get later? and he’s so cheap that hornets can use as much as they want with high reward up to the last drop.

  • blubell

It looks like all hair gel. She doesn’t have to worry about contact like Jeremy so doesn’t necessarily need reinforcement, just enough gel. lol

  • LinMad

Now I know why Cliff is like this to Lin. Maybe MJ and Cho need to talk to Cliff about his coaching decisions on Lin. Cause from what I heard, I think MJ and Cho are really liking Lin. Maybe more than Batum and Kemba. I didn’t see MJ smile at the end of the game when Kemba had that 52 pt game.

  • blubell
  • Barry Allen

what it boils down to is Lin took the clutch shot and made it.

Lin is and always has been clutch.

  • aras

Alright Charlotte are meeting Bulls on monday..if Lin is used the same way as these past 2 games then he should at least demand the ball and let people know that he is the facilitator. Now if Lin had a bad game i’ll be the first one to criticise him he has had some real bad games this season and i have criticised him for it. But these 2 games he has been a non factor (expect last minute on the 4th this game) If players dont respect him as a PG then there aint much to do honestly, Demand the ball more. other than that nothing.

  • pandaboy99

maybe cuz lin actually had the ball in his hands

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Lin can’t demand the ball.

  • Dorothy

agreed, it does not change the way I think of Clifford. It is totally opposite how Lin was treated the WHOLE game.

  • LinMad

I don’t know some fans are extra critical to Lin here. It’s like a 40% FG is considered bad for Lin while everyone else on Hornets who shoot 40% is having a good night. Or 4 TOs for Lin is bad night when Batum had 6 TOs, 9 TOs, 11 TOs per game and it’s like we’re immune to it.

  • joyce ward

Remember when MJ said that lin was the biggest acquisition that they got off season? Not batum. I watched MJ when lin led the charge to take down LBJ, and MJ was ecstatic. he threw his hat down a couple of times because he was just that excited. So MJ likes the way lin balls.

  • LinMad

if we lost, Cliff would have thrown the bench under the bus.

  • JoeTeam

and that ball was fat for the and1 tip in, the only way for CHA to have a chance last night because it was 1+ sec left. No time for kick out or fouling and no TO to advance the ball back. So, Lin did it perfectly and only MW fell down and Hawes never left the ground when that ball was fat for the and1 tip in.

  • grover chang

Lin is courageous. Ignored all game but stepped up at the most crucial point since his teammates are unable to finish. He could’ve passed the ball to one of the “stars” who were enjoying being the focus tonight until the pressure got too heavy.

  • sws94

No James. TIme after time after time Cliff has gone to Lin in the clutch regardless of whether he’s played well in the game or not. That was a show of trust in his player to make clutch plays. This isn’t all about Kemba vs. Lin. It’s about how Coach sees them, uses them, and he trusts both of them. He took out MKG twice to put Lin in and LIn cashed in. I’m happy for that and am not full of all this jaded mistrust for Cliff. He’s not other coaches. This isn’t PSTD. He’s not an ideal coach for Lin, but he trusts him when it matters.

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • Ulysses Modder

    made no, Li made!

  • JoeTeam

give it a chance it looked too smooth for it to be ad hoc. Wait for the replays.

  • Lefon Jang

    what does that mean?

  • zxcvb

What People Think Happens In The NBA:

Lin: I’m starting in place of Kemba and taking 15-20 shots, okay?
Kemba & Clifford: Okay, cool. You just had to ask, Jeremy!

  • Dorothy

    Sure, Kemba!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • sws94

    Yes.

  • JoeTeam

hope MJ invites Lin to play some gold sometime … make his own deal.

  • grover chang

Linsanity is always born from desperation. Clifford got desperate like McHale would and could not avoid using Lin for the win.

  • Yascar

Agreed. I wonder whether one of the coaches said something to him. Either way, happy ending to this game. Kudos to him, that’s our boy.

  • sws94

I’m not thrilled but after such a miserable, underwhelming night Lin came up big. So, I’m ok now. Wasn’t too happy before those 2 shots.

  • zxcvb

He’s a weasel. He saw that he was gonna lose with Kemba, so he had to let Lin touch the ball. Lin, as always, delivered after Kemba choked (as usual).

  • Dorothy

No, Clifford does not trust Lin, he trusts Kemba and Batum. It is by fluke not by design. I will take it anyday, but to think Clifford draw that play for Lin is delusional.

  • JoeTeam

    chop them away …

  • sws94

Love Marv. Good guy, great team mate, plays with heart.

  • grover chang

Lin is Kato. Does the real work while the Hornet gets the glory.

  • heart

I want to know if that play was drawn up by Cliff for NB or Lin to take the winning shot? Lin, who has been iced out almost the entire game, was still able to make that clutch shot to put the game out of reach for Wiz, then Lin’s clutch gene is worth more than money can offer.

OTH, if it was meant for NB, yet he didn’t want to take it is also something to be noted. Perhaps his fear of being blamed for the loss if he misses based on that clutch shot. Remember, NB missed some clutch FTs to win Euro championship game recently this past summer.

  • aras

I dont care about batum on this forum im about Lin here no one else. i write about Lin wether its a good or bad game, people have different opinions of good and bad games, these last 2 games Lin has been a non factor, now thats on him as well but its also on the coaches and the players around, they should know by know that Lin needs the ball in his hand to get in rythm like all PGs. but alas it is what it is. I’ll probably stop being up late to watch these games if this is how it is going to be in the future.

  • zxcvb

Is Cliff trying to credit Kemba for Lin’s clutch shots???

Kemba choked, Coach. Live with it. It happens 90% of the time with Kemba.

  • grover chang

I think he means he stretches the floor. No hate for Marvin. He is my second favorite player on the team.

  • JoeTeam

Stand by for the highlights and TTNN will get you the breakdown. I suspect it was for Lin but I only caught the end of the play. Batum was too calm, not frantic at all.

  • sws94

He needs more touches and to direct the action. I’m with you on that. What will happen on Monday may be more of the same, however. Lamb has to chill out, Batum and Lin should be OK but more Lin involvement is necessary. I’d also like MKG with Lin, and that hasn’t happened yet.

  • Briiick

Did Lin take the final shot, clutch !

  • james brown

he might because it was needed, but after JLIN was needed, he comes back to the KW and Batum LOVE..LOL!

  • LinMad

He loves his own guys. Tbh, it’s like Cliff is coaching for his own reason and not for the GM or owner.

  • sws94

Not that much, really. He had the drive and the 3 pointer, and a few times he had the ball and dribbled it around. But mostly others touched the ball crunch time.

  • The Linspired Kid after JLin’s CLUTCH 3 =)

    https://twitter.com/jlinnation/status/696162432306118656

  • sws94

I think he planned to use Lin all along crunch time. It was evident in his actions in Friday’s game. He just waited too late. He also talked about how courageous Lin was in crunch time and how he’s done it his entire career, make big baskets and plays. It was planned before the game to bring Lin in.

  • james brown

Lin is playing at the moment, and whether for the entire period or just for the last second, i believe JLIN will give all his best..He’s a cruchtime player and what better time for him to show he can do it!

  • aras

I dont see the MKG Lin thing happening to be honest. If it continues to be like this would you want lin to go to another team or stay in charlotte for the season? me i am on the crossroads to be honest, on one end i think if Lin gets to play his game on the second unit he can be vital point of the team. But if he is put on a corner i’d like for him to go to be honest.

  • blubell

    I want that t-shirt lol

  • grover chang

    Winner recognizes winner.

  • sws94

Ewing has a look after the 3 like, OK, that’s what he was supposed to do. Routine. That was expected.

  • Rick Johnson

    Father has a Harvard shirt?

  • james brown

why was KW seems not happy with the shot..i saw Batum reaction and its positive, MW also has that reaction including Zeller, but KW seems its just OK?

  • Briiick

Batum’s play gets worse during the clutch time, he doesn’t have that.

  • sws94

OK, not fighting with you on this one. Totally agree 🙂

  • LinMad

Lin didn’t celebrate with that clutch shot did he? He was calm and collected. It was like he just proved himself for the 74329483274th time.

  • JoeTeam

Highlight here … it was drawn up for Lin in my book. Batum did not sit behind the Cody screen and Cody did not hold it but rolled right away. You’d think maybe it was a pick and roll for Cody, but no because Batum never looked at Cody. He went straight at Gortat to draw him and took him into Wall, Lin’s man, then passed to lin and leaned back into Wall to screen. Lin all the way and he iced the game.

So much for all the Lin criticizers here. This was a play drawn up for Lin and they executed it to perfection because it did not involve KW lol.

  • sws94

Maybe. But he sure looked ready to come in late in the game. I just love when he hits clutch shots in end of game situations.

  • Dorothy

    She is too cute

  • probably counting the order of “#Linspired” T-Shirts =)

  • sws94

I think KW is smiling and is not surprised Lin nailed that shot.

  • cdblue10

I skimmed on Hornets GM forum for the first time and it seems they’re not fun of Lin at all

  • blubell

I saw him smiling, shaking his head like “Man, You’re clutch”… i think lol

  • joyce ward

Those are the internet bullies who don’t even attend the games. I really don’t even count them at all.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He’s getting tired of this buII-blah.

  • cdblue10

    Good to know

  • james brown

last five points of this highlight just for a player for today’s game. was cliff that sure the JLIN can make those baskets – a drive and 3? if he was, why just playing for measly minutes during crunch time? defense/offense, isn’t it the JLIn already proven he can defend? Cliff also had seen that Jlin can be their PG during crunch time, so why not the use?

    LOL,Just asking!!!!

  • cshot

just did a little 3 pointer “ok” sign and thats it. crappy treatment the rest of the game

  • sws94

No, I don’t want it like this. I want to see BF1 as a force and Lin directing them without the nonsense from Lamb. I want to see BF1 as a more active, dynamic, team-ball oriented, share the ball unit, not the junk we saw yesterday and tonight. I don’t like him in the corner either or just passing the ball off and then not getting it back.

He showed promise with MKG and I think if he can just throw a few lobs to MKG or wonderful transition baskets to him, then Clifford will use the combo. I’m not sure if it’ll happen yet.

Only 31 games left so now I’m thinking of next season. I’m on the fence but hoping Lin has a better opportunity to be further utilized next season. Don’t know if can happen in Charlotte so maybe it is time to move on. But wherever he goes, I hope 2-3 years there and no trading him away. Don’t like the journeyman aspect to his career.

  • cdblue10

    Absolutely no question about it!!!!!

  • Yascar

I’ve watched it several times now from the angle in the featured comment. I think it was drawn for Lin. All the players looked like they expected it afterwards and Cliff low fived Jeremy.

  • james brown

was he really shaking his head..LOL!!! good that we have people here who can see what others are seeing. and interpret what seems not TOO obvious with others….thanks! 😛

anyways saw the extended version and KW just have late reaction..waving his hands up in the air…LOL!

  • JoeTeam

Thanks, I appreciate your post. Some people here really want everything Lin does as clutch to be his luck. But everything he does in the % normal in fails for every player is his bad. Your post helps.

  • james brown

was he really smiling and seems NOT suprised..LOL!!! good that we have people here who
can see what others are seeing. and interpret what seems not TOO
    obvious with others….thanks! 😛

anyways saw the extended version and KW just have late reaction…LOL!

  • sws94

Hornets GM forum is the friendliest group of all for Lin. Much, much, much better than LA or Houston’s team board. Many mods there like Lin and his game and I think most members there like his game and him.

  • blubell
  • blubell

“With Charlotte in a close one they turned to not Walker or Batum, but Jeremy Lin. His stat line might not wow anybody, but two of his three makes were the two biggest shots of the game. First, a layup to give the Hornets a small lead, and then a clutch 3-pointer from the corner to put the Hornets up four. There were some dramatics with free throws afterwards, but that shot ended up as the eventual game winner with Charlotte barely pulling out a win.”
    https://twitter.com/At_The_Hive/status/696167805650079745

  • cdblue10

HMNNN,there’s a poster sikfant something on that site that really hard on one Lin fan

  • sws94

Absolutely agree. Funny thing is Lin’s 3 pointers haven’t been great this season. But clutch time it’s a different story.

  • JoeTeam

the threes have been looking great, good arc, new shot. His corner threes are money.

  • JoeTeam

cliff doesn’t know what he’s doing.

  • james brown

this is well taken….”He’s not an ideal coach for Lin,.”…..
so go to next game again for JLIN and his crusade!

  • David Kim

yes they like Lin as back up PG..

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Perhaps it is a repay of Lin’s sacrifice for this team. This team has set the course on developing their future based on Batum, Walker, MKG. The rest is only used when they desperately need them for the win. Lin belongs to the rest. Nothing is going to change this.
The good thing is this team at least not trashing Jeremy. Jeremy’s input is recognized and is given the opportunity when they really need him; not like BS who would rather lose than using Lin.

  • james brown

i think it was a designed shot for JLIN because all his action proving he’s preparing to get that he’s going to shoot the ball and make a big shot on crunch time.

  • james brown

    he does, watch the highlight.

  • zxcvb

“I’m not happy. But I’m good.”

  • james brown

poor decoy because JLIN guard still was able to front jlin before the shot.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Her hairdo is fabulous. It’s difficult to get a girl to change that unless she loves to.
    I would give her a 10.

  • blubell

That’s what I saw but we’ll see when the longer highlights come out 🙂

  • aras

I agree with you. I dont like the journeyman aspect aswell. But i hate the way he is being used even more. 31 games left and at the end of the season we’ll get the answer if he will stay there or not. i think it all depends on who stays there. if batum stays there then Lin is probably gone looking for a team he can start and there are plenty of teams where he can start.

  • cdblue10

Don’t worry Jeremy, you’ll get paid and you will run your own team next year-MDA

  • blubell
  • bolero
  • Kwok Wai Lai

First time they turn away from Walker and Batum.

  • zxcvb

“There. I saved the game for you. Now go praise Kemba’s chucking.”

  • cshot

jeremy just posted up a bible verse on twitter. you know somethings up sigh… keep strong duude

  • Epie

    Hmm… somethings up..

  • zxcvb

    “I’m held back to please scrub Kemba…but I’m still a multi-millionaire.”

Gotta be grateful, all things considered! It’s us fans who are really suffering, ha.

  • Dan Ang

Nic Batum to Jlinportal….how do you like me now?

  • ViNuyork

whenever he posts a verse–something’s going on again…. just keep d faith Jlin

  • Kwok Wai Lai

If you give the last shot to Walker, he would miss it or simply turn it over. With two straight games like that, Walker wouldn’t get very good publicity. This play has saved both Batum and Walker. Make or miss, it’s simply Lin’s reputation on the line.

  • Translation:
“I chose to be content to keep doing my best although I don’t understand why my role got suppressed in the past 2 games after the huge Cavs win. I trust the Lord to give me joy; not my current situation”

I think JLin is unhappy but is trying to do his best despite the circumstances and a lot uncertainties.

  • james brown

he’s fighting and struggling again his own pride…”#contentment”

  • zxcvb

Definitely. By now, the pattern is clear.

  • Dan Ang

Clifford walk the walk and talk the talk. If Jlin likes the big shots, you give him the big shot.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Oh Oh…

  • JoeTeam

    gulp …

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Amen!

  • David Kim

Sixers beat nets today. (ish smith out today)
    Okafor 9-16 22pts 17 rebounds
    Noel 8-11 18pts 4 steals

if Lin goes there, it will be fun to watch…

how about lin reunion with MDA at nets…?

  • JoeTeam

and I am content scoring the 5 points that iced the game.

  • Steppen03

    WooHoo!!!

    Got Lin, Got Win !!!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That shot wasn’t given to him.

  • bolero

I think the word is his content..

  • CJSHYY

I agree about this statement… “JLin is unhappy but is trying to do his best despite the circumstances and a lot uncertainties.”

After so many years, he should know well now, every time after he had big game, someone is not happy… Cliff needs him so he will use Lin no matter what… smh!

  • JoeTeam

take me back, watch the reply carefully … it was drawn up for Lin.

  • aras

Yeah that forum is actually pretty good.

  • Dan Ang

This time, it’s Mr. Final Seconds.

  • JoeTeam

well, he got more than 20 sec so he won it. Last game, his missed on purpose FT almost made it if MW didn’t fall down or if Hawes had elevated.

  • Dan Ang

A note to other teams, don’t SLEEP on Jeremy Lin….ever! Just ask the Wizards after tonight

  • Steppen03

We would Freaking Love It if it happens!!! JL7 & MDA – A Perfect Match like Nash/MDA.

  • CJSHYY

I don’t know I should be happy about this or not…. hope next game he can have more chance to play his game. smh!

  • Arsenium12 .

    Psalm 16 (New International Version)

1 Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”
3 I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names on my lips.
5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.

6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful[b] one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

  • bolero

    same here

  • sws94

I think it is a matter of time before he has a bunch of games where his 3s fall. They don’t look bad but they are sometimes short (maybe due to ankle) or rushed after he makes his moves. They look very close to falling more consistently for him.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

No it wasn’t. It happened yes.

  • blubell

He knows God has his back and his reward coming.

  • JoeTeam

    stop … wall’s 3 stopped 3′ short today. Lin’s 3s are fine.

  • Dan Ang

C’mon bro…don’t rain on the parade. Even the announcer called out Jeremy Liiiiiin!

  • blubell
  • JoeTeam

I disagree and you can watch your vid and I will watch my replay.

  • zxcvb

I think Nets are more likely now. Bryan Colangelo is the top GM candidate and formal interviews start Monday according to a recent article. Probably hire someone by end of All-Star break?

  • sws94

He had decent chemistry with Batum, but Batum has a big role on this team as facilitator. With Kemba it makes sense. On with Lin, not much sense or not as much as he does it. Lin also doesn’t have an Ed Davis type of chemistry with anyone on the team. Batum has a pretty strong one with Cody, even a few lobs. Lin not throwing lobs means something is wrong with the offense and personnel. He is by far better at it than anyone else on this team. If Lin finds a new home, I hope he puts great thought in it and things pan out well and for a long term.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I agreed it happened, Lin was even confused the play just before he inbound

  • blubell
  • David Kim

if nets hire Colangelo, that will be perfect situation for lin and MDA reunion… i will love it…

  • sws94

Yeah but you don’t have to pay attention to him or maybe one or two others. Most think Lin is excellent and want to keep him around. And yes, off the bench but that doesn’t mean they don’t think he is a big part of the team. And, btw, they have the same problems with Kemba that many of us do.

  • LOL watch that kid got fired up cheering for JLin after the huge 3 right in front of him!
    https://twitter.com/jlinnation/status/696173671564636160

  • Lefon Jang

Curry said it was. “Screen, roll and hope that they don’t respect the corner man”

  • sws94

    yup, awkward.

  • JoeTeam

    ok, done for now.

Lin has done great last few games, and circumstances have given him and lin fans something nice:

    1. he beat Lebron playing Linstyle. You know that’s something when they make excuses like Delly not starting ho ho.
    2. Lin made a perfect only play on missing is FT, as the only chance to tie last game was an And1 tip in. Wall missed the rim and it came right out to CHA anyway.
    3. Lin makes key 5 points to win.
    4. tonight, Cliff got a taste of what Lin does by ending H1 with him. So he put Lin in to end the game about 2 mins left. Better than 20sec like last game.

Doesn’t matter all the chatter, Lin is ballin’ and that’s what we love. He matters to this team, no matter what the setup is, he’s coming through.

  • JoeTeam

ha ha was that the Melo asian bow? Lin fans know, it’s just their way of saying my boy.

  • cshot

was not in the mood to make a reaction to that lol. clearly upset

  • JoeTeam

NO we are NOT agreeing. We are disagreeing and that’s ok.

  • Barry Allen

Sadly, when it comes to the NBA where players fight tooth and nail for playing time, the coach and other decision makers tends to listen to the more vocal and assertive proponents.

  • PPP

    Ugh…indeed

  • zxcvb

I doubt it. His role is being actively, heavily diminished after the Cleveland win.

Lin always beasts when given the chance, so it’s not up to him. It’s up to Clifford/Cho/MJ.

  • sws94

    Paid off for him.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Clifford only uses Lin when he has to after the last few outings with Lin outshining his stars.
I have been aware of this. Lin is rested and plays less than 30 minutes even when it’s a back to back game.
Batum played 40+ minutes. Walker played 36+. I’m all good with this arrangement because Lin always stands by and surprises every one at every opportunity.
Lin has always stepped up when these two franchise players regressed. I imagine the win-loss record of Jeremy as starter must be impressive.

  • james brown

    😛

  • cdblue10

He didn’t look happy even after he made that shot….what’s going on?….

  • travis

cliff should swith mkg to the bench with lamb or hairston

  • CJSHYY

Hope next game Lin can still on …. LOL! Can’t help it… Kemba just so fake to me. Like we said in Chinese-笑面虎.

  • zxcvb

The same thing bothering us! He even posted a frustrated Bible tweet. He’s never done that after a win.

He’s better than Kemba and always proves it when given the chance. But he gets punished for it. Tonight, he won the game in the clutch, but was denied touches all night to pump up Kemba and Batum’s stats (and they’ll get the glory).

  • cdblue10

    Good to know

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    I couldn’t agree more。
    Lin must leave this team。

  • zxcvb

Clifford should quit coaching and manage a Radio Shack.

  • heart

He had posted a verse Psalm 16:5 with the hashtag #contentment. Whenever he posts a verse means something is up. In this case, he’s not happy, so he tries to remind himself that his true contentment and joy come from the Lord only.

  • cdblue10

Yep that face and bible verse tells a lot

  • your son’s voltaire

you are absolutely correct. Lin made it happen. but some people will always be fooled

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Right on!

  • james brown

seems so tentative on his reaction on the matter… meaning …not spontaneous!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

What happened does not mean it was planned.

  • Acbc

Are you trolling us? The only walk was Lin being push off the plank off the ship. What’s good about 2 games of 16 minutes of standing in the corner? The best talk Clifford has made about Lin is by not trashing Lin like BS and Mchale.

  • CJSHYY

I really hate to watch Hornets game… Season end soon. smh!

  • your son’s voltaire

can’t mismanage something that’s already gone broke

  • takemeback2reaganyears

After it happened, so what? Does not mean the play was drawn to him.

  • Today is Feb 6, only 12 more days before the Feb 18 trade deadline.

Who knows which Hornets names get brought up when GMs call around the league?
Just be ready for some craziness then no trade happens.

  • sws94

Maybe he’s in a trade rumor. That would mess up any player. He doesn’t look right. But maybe it’s not that. Whatever it is, he’s not quite himself.

  • CJSHYY

I don’t believe there’s any trade for Hornets.

  • blubell
  • takemeback2reaganyears

I bet he was mad as h*** for the treatment.

  • james brown

    that’s my read too!

  • sport

Not surprised, he’s better than both Batum and Kemba yet they are the ones who gets the minutes and stat padding! He deserves to be starting along side them! He thought he’d be playing along side Kemba but that’s not the case at all! Clifford said during off season that if asked right now he’d play off the bench but that if Lin played well he “might” get to start which was a total lie. Cliff said he “knew” Lin’s game and will let him play his style which was also a lie! Lin’s game is PnR and PG, not SG, not SF, not standing the corner being iced out with no screens! He proved himself as a starting PG by leading the team to beat the Cavs and outscoring Lebron which Kemba never could! Yet he is still benched whenever Batum and Walker are both playing!

  • zxcvb

    Cliff will find a way.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Like Daniels clutch 3.

  • guest

I don’t think there will be any trades. They know they are getting a steal with 2m for Lin and trying to go to playoffs. After he leaves, who knows how long if ever, they get a bench player and bench that strong. Now or never, with Kemba at PG because Lin is on the team.

  • Ulysses Modder

Lin is with a sad face

  • zxcvb

Even if MJ comes to his senses and trades Kemba, I still want Clifford FIRED.

He’s a snake like most coaches and his in-game adjustments are non-existent. With MDA, Blatt, Karl, Hornacek on the market…why stick with a dinosaur like Clifford? Someone with no history of success?

  • blubell

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I want to see again if it was a clean foul when Lin fouled Wall with second to shoot which caused Clifford screaming

  • sport

MKG is not the problem, Kemba is. Lin got his minutes when playing with MKG and Batum. Bottomline he showed what he could do against Cavs only to get his minutes diminished for it! On Knicks when Lin exploded he got the chance to start and play heavy minutes yet on all other teams he gets benched.

  • IMO there’s a remote possibility of gauging Kemba trade value but there won’t be fair trade since they will ask for Frank/Zeller so nothing will happen.

And not sure if any teams can benefit from Big Al’s expiring contract

  • blubell
  • takemeback2reaganyears

He was mad walking away getting his drink when was told he’s taken out.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin and the bench are set up to fail in the last 2 games so as to make the franchise players look good.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I’m Linspired too. Are you Linspired, Wally?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That was either for Batum will shoot or a PnR with Zeller, NOT for Lin.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Oh yeah.

  • sws94

Maybe coach will answer this and put an end to the debate. I don’t know how you are so certain it wasn’t for Lin. In many ways, it looked designed for Lin as he was put in especially for offense.

  • sws94

Maybe. But does it have to be about basketball?

  • MJ seems to like Clifford and gets along well with him.

If MJ gave approval to shop around for Kemba’s values, I can understand a bit about the showcasing.
But it’s still a big IF at the moment.

There were games when JLin got the green light to be a PG but then it disappeared.
I think that’s what driving us mad and even confusing Lin at the moment

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Damn right! Lin knows whether he’s misused for almost the entire game until the last moments. For God’s sake, he has made good in the last plays. You would think the coach has given him a chance to get into good rhythm.

  • bolero

it was for Lin so they can blame him if it doesn’t go in. lol

  • travis

cmon man, he was not used more he played sf 85% of his time tonight

  • blubell

Basketball is big part of his life and he tweeted for all of his fans to see.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Because if you saw him walking to away and how he’s been treated.

Further more, they and coaches avoided to talk about that play said it all.

  • CJSHYY

    That’s exactly what I thought.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

That 2 millions has translated to many wins for Hornets this season. Heck of a bargain.

  • JoeTeam

Look take me back, I like a lot of posts you do, but you just have to let this go. I don’t agree with you and you are writing unrelated things to try to continue … we disagree.

  • I’m happy she got such a memorable picture with JLin =)

She’ll be too Linspired and ends up with a case of Linsomnia tonight!

  • sport

John Wall thinking, I don’t need to guard Lin he’s not going to get the last shot….then boom!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Yeah the only tradable asset is big Al if Hornets wants to make to the playoff.

  • zxcvb

Honestly, that’s probably true. Kemba had bricked a pair before and his %s were going down. Batum was gassed and doubled.

Either Lin makes it and Kemba/Nic still get the glory. Or Lin misses and he takes the blame.

  • spiderman

Thought she was a he 🙂

  • sport

Pretty sure if it wasn’t, Batum would’ve taken a hail mary or passed to Walker for a brick, not passing back to Lin with only few seconds left!

  • zxcvb

Might be more accurate to say that they’re not given a chance to succeed. Low minutes, low touches, low shots, erratic sub patterns.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Zeller was wide open but Batum was triple-teamed. Give it to Lin was last resort.

  • zxcvb

Bill Simmons said CHA had one of the most dysfunctional front offices. That shocked a lot of people since the other two were “obvious” (Clips, Kings).

I have no idea what’s going on in Charlotte. I wouldn’t rule anything out.

  • sport

I missed the game but glad i didn’t miss much. Lin was obviously set to fail with the bench with scrap minutes yet he was the one who got the 4th quarter clutch shots! Clifford got what he wanted, Kemba and Batum their stats and credit while Lin saved the team, BS! Coach was subbing Lin in and out for MKG for defense which is dumb! Lin’s one of the best defensive players of the team even better than Batum and Walker! If anything Walker should be the one sitting with his non existent defense!

  • CJSHYY

I am w you & don’t think they will trade Lin. W his low salary right now they can’t get too much in return for trade.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Just guess how would the fans react if Batum or Wally took the last shot and missed again!
Clifford took the easy way out for both.

  • JoeTeam

yep, dumb swaps. Lin got the win in spite of dumb coaching. Contentment.

  • sport

Of course cause it BS coaching! Telling Lin that his defense sucks when he’s leading PG blocks per 45 minutes!

  • Dorothy

better defense than Batum and Walker does not mean much. It is like saying better defense than Harden lol

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Who cares! No time for examination.

  • JoeTeam

Batum was NOT tripled, he drove into the players to get coverage. Then he passed to Lin and backed into screen out both Gortat and Wall.

  • yeah, we better get ready for a roller-coaster ride until Feb 18.
Clifford will try to win by inflating & showcasing some players’ values in the next 2 games

  • sport

Yes with only few minutes and shots, it’s a miracle that Lin wasn’t out cold and could still hit clutch shots! Seriously, did MJ watch this game at home? I hope he’s not blinded with colored glasses and can’t see what Lin is, a star who’s being mistreated and marginalized on every team including his own!

  • That’s what I first thought too lol

  • your son’s voltaire

MKG is an excellent one-on-one defender. Lin is an excellent all around defender. and their skills set compliments each other very well on offense, too. the coach doesn’t realizes it

  • cdblue10

Even with the last shot,I think it was intended for him so that if he won’t make it,he’ll get all the blame

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    1. 2 Wizard players collided in his drive to the basket.
    2. Hawes greeted Lin with mighty gesture after the 3 ball; here you go, buddy!

  • sport

Pretty sure Harden’s isn’t defense at all, just a stationary cardboard that gives up when people blows by him.

  • your son’s voltaire

it’s cool. Lin knows it and he thrives when he is against all odd.. that’s what made Linsanity

  • Dorothy

    lol

  • spiderman

Would be neat if there was a ballerina fan club all sporting Mohawks

  • blubell

This is what I see too. Batum drew multiple defenders, passed to Jeremy, and backed out to give him a screen.

  • cdblue10

The substitution after the lay up was baffling for me,he’s the top 2 defensive player on the team and he was subbed out,it’s like psychologically they’ll trying to take away his confidence

  • sport

You’d think that after 5-6 teams of mistreatment, Lin would learn to “f” it and just go for his shots especially when coach and FO are marginalizing him! Lin could’ve so done that with Lakers with nothing to lose since he’d be FA!

  • JoeTeam

whew! Eyes on the prize, BB!

  • your son’s voltaire

i hope she grows up to be an excellent basketball player one day and say she was “Linspired”

  • Kwok Wai Lai

This is the first time in the season that either Batum or Walker gave up the last shot.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Here are the reasons Lin’s 3s was not planned:

    1) Lin was confused with the play when in bounded.
    2) Zeller was wide open but Batum was triple teamed.
    3) Lin hasn’t shot well with only 3 attempts.
    4) With Batam and Kemba on the floor, Lin would NEVER BE THE OPTION UNDER CLIFFORD.
    5) YOU DON’T NEED A 3 WHEN YOU’RE UP BY 1 WITH 34 SECOND LEFT TO PLAY. You go for quick 2. No brainer.

Wise up and wake up people.

  • JoeTeam

    I disagree, stop this.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Exactly. Just guess what would the fans do if Batum of Walker took the last shot and missed again.
    They would turn the tables!

  • blubell
  • your son’s voltaire

i think he really wants to but struggling inside. the angel on his left shoulder is telling him to not chuck

  • takemeback2reaganyears

What are you afraid of, the true?

  • sport

Pretty sure all this mistreatment and racism does have an affect on Lin performing his best! All these mistreatment constantly telling him he can’t do this or that, can’t be a starter, can’t be a star, isn’t as good as others! It’s sickening because that’s how black kids were treated back in the day yet they’re doing the same thing to a minority! For people who constantly cries racism. they’re truly a bunch of hypocrites!

  • Acbc

It’s straight out of Mchale playbook to play Lin at the end of the losing game.

  • your son’s voltaire

correct. very logical and common sense. plus, how often does clifford draw anything up for Lin in the first place? especially not in clutch situations

  • cdblue10

I totally agree with this premise 100%

  • Phoenix Rising

Of course it is being diminished. It’s obvious to the eye, but if you doubt that, look at his mins, touches, shots… Everything is clearly pointing to the fact that he is not even being played as the bench player from last week!

  • JoeTeam

how do you know the truth? I don’t even think you’ve ever play real bball or any live action sport to miss seeing Batum’s very good drive to get covered. You say he’s tripled – no, he pulled in coverage. That’s how you do it. It’s a drawn play to get Lin free. It’s so clear to someone who’s played real games where people are moving back and forth and you have to force them to go your chess move.

So, what’s in it for you to rain on JLin’s parade? He did a clutch play when called, and he remained calm because he’s a pro. This game, Clif was icing himm with that stupid rotation. Last game, he was put in with 20 sec and almost tied the game. I’d be calm and intense too, to give Cliff a clear message.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Best of all, they didn’t need a 3.

  • joyce ward

Cliff doing all of this to make his star players shine tellls me management wants to pull the plug on some star players. The salaries go up next year.

  • cdblue10

    I agree with this!

  • sport

So Batum was the one who broke the play cause he was triple teamed? Yet how many times have we seen these “designated stars” just chuck a miss? Surely Batum could’ve chucked up a hail mary and won’t get any blame from the coach! Unless Batum is nice enough to let Lin take the final shot unlike selfish/jealous Kemba?

  • your son’s voltaire

yup, there was absolutely no doubt they didn’t plan it that way

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lakers must lose the game! I don’t even need to look at the score.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I listed out the impossible while you having wishful thinking without fact and commonsense that is.

He was triple to break the PnR with Zeller. Batum was hot all game as he might shoot too, wake up and wise up

  • your son’s voltaire

we’ve seen Batum give it up to Lin several times before. we’ve also seen him chuck a hail-mary. this is one of those times where he gave it up cus he was guarded heavily

  • takemeback2reaganyears

It was not a rain in Lin parade, Lin bailed out the team even without the draw for him just like last night, he was the only one put up 2 points without any play for him.

  • kauaiblue

    Nice post.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

No Wizard players could have guessed this. John Wall didn’t even bother to take a look at Jeremy. Everyone was fooled; perhaps, Clifford too.
But what the heck. Batum made the right decision. He is always a good basketball player and he trusts his instinct. There are a few good passes lately from Batum to Lin. Praise goes to Lin who makes the shot in the first place, then to Batum to draw the offense and make them committed, and then to whoever calls this play. By the way, where is Wally on this play?

  • Whitman Lam

The score was actually very close, and Lakers tied and led at some times. Goes to show that any team can play better than what they are.

  • sport

Can we see this Batum passing to Lin as a message to Clifford’s favoritism on Kemba who isn’t better?

  • KHuang

I think it’s simpler than that.

The play was for Batum to catch and shoot.

But when Batum made his move, two defenders met him.

So Batum ran the OPTION: hand off to Lin.

Batum was a thwarted 1st option while Lin was the anticipated 2nd option.

  • your son’s voltaire

i hope something does go down at the trade deadline. the hornets simply won’t make the playoffs with the way clifford is managing the players rotation. obviously, MKG/Lin/Batum is the best lineup but they won’t do it because of the politics involving Kemba. they have so much talents but they’re doin it all wrong

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin was there as he has been there most of the game (corner) also a bailout for trapped Batum.

  • Dorothy

I feel if Clifford actually drew that play for Lin, he would have been so proud and brag about it in the post-game, but he did not…

  • KHuang

    they should just WAIVE Lin.

  • your son’s voltaire

we can certainly wish to think that way 😉

  • heart

Wonder why Cliff wasn’t asked about Lin’s winning shot and NB didn’t even mention it in his post game interview or give Lin any Kudos? God forbid if Lin missed the shot, he’d probably be the scapegoat if it’s a loss tonight. I also find it very strange that Cliff does NOT ever mention or give Lin praises in his post game interviews even when Lin deserves it, only when Cliff gets asked. Something is up w/ Hornets… Lin is getting similar treatment like McHale and BS. Heck, Cliff even started the blaming game now in his MIA post game. Can’t stand that Lin is being used and abused. No wonder Lin posted another verse tonight.

  • Whitman Lam

Batum was the hot hand of the Hornets. 9/10 times Baum or Kemba would settle for a contested jumper in that situation. Every close loss ended in an ISO play by Walker or Batum. That did not happen tonight, so it must have been drawn up that way.

  • JoeTeam

    1. you are a psychic to know Lin was confused in his own mind.
    2. Cody did a pnr, and did NOT hold the screen so it was not a Batum play else he could have easily shot it behind cody’s screen or given it to Cody. Instead, he immediately took it to Gortat to draw him. He did not look for Cody.
    3. Lin shooting well or not means nothing if a play is drawn to him. Cliff has a track record of drawing up plays not to HOT Daniels but to COLD KW. So track record says Cliff drew it up to Lin if you want to use bad logic.
    4. Never say never … KW has lost enough games for CHA. Everyone knows this, you don’t have to be MJ. Something is trying to get fixed. Cliff could only give Lin 2 mins instead of last games 20 sec lol.
    5. you don’t know bball if you think a team doesn’t need a 3 in that situation. plenty of plays drawn up says you’re wrong. The 3 iced it. Trading FTs with the advantage from the DRAWN UP 3 that lin executed to perfection gave CHA the win. It was a sound strategic choice.

Do you have a problem with not getting your way? You could be wrong, you know.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    1. He won’t last for a sec on the waiver list.
    2. Charlotte fans will start a riot and take it out on the street!
    3. Charlotte #7 jersey will sell out in the mean course.

  • sport

Not even Spurs and Cavs can, Thunder don’t stand a chance with their iso-centric ball! GSW are the walking video game team!

  • your son’s voltaire

pretty much this. i doubt clifford has anything more than give the ball to the hot hand. he’s not a very good offensive coach in the first place

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Batum was triple.

  • bolero

Thanks KHuang, much better explanation…rather than someone telling us to wise up.

  • JoeTeam

    yes!

  • your son’s voltaire

clifford didn’t mention it because he didn’t draw up that play. lol

  • JoeTeam

Cliff has a political problem he has to navigate. He would choose the win over telling the truth.

  • Dorothy

Lin posted another verse tonight? Do you know which one?

  • sport

Using Batum and Kemba to lure a star player? Exactly what Rockets did at the expense of Lin! Been saying how Hornets are doing the same thing to Lin as Rockets but without the smear propaganda!

  • your son’s voltaire

excuse me but i don’t quite follow your logic cus if batum was the hot hand, wouldn’t that mean clifford just wanted to put the ball in batum’s hands and let him do work??

  • heart

Psalm 16:5 w/ hashtag #contentment. He’s reminding himself that only God gives him true joy and contentment. I think he’s not happy bc something is up. God knows, and we’ll know eventually. Praying for him.

  • sport

Kemba shot 30 FGA in one game this season so no don’t think so.

  • blubell
  • 2 more games to see which players the Hornets might want to showcase.

This even smells very fishy in the fish market

  • Dorothy

but Rockets got to play-off, but Hornets probably will not. No star players will come.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Huang, my question is why didn’t Clifford put Kemba in Lin’s position?

  • Dorothy

ohoh, this does not sound good. Sounds like Lin is in trouble again.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Why can’t people see things like you do?

  • Steppen03

WooHoo!!! Curry & Co. Defeated OKC =). What a game!
Curry struggled w. his shots but he and SL and Green delivered down the stretch!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Excellent question.

  • heart

You too. They will come around once the light bulb is on, lol.

  • cdblue10

With this interview you know that they will pay Batum a hefty contract after this season

  • Acbc

We should remember that when Kemba was injured last year, Mo Williams did a great job winning games. lin is never going to replace Kemba so it’s time to move on. His team is determined to lose, my mind and hopes has already checked out and my eyes are already on next season.

  • blubell

Break it up guys. Move on.

  • heart

Didn’t hear any shout out for Lin in this NB’s clip. Did I not hear right?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Some are just hopeless. 50 games already not new of the season.

  • JoeTeam

liked what he had to say, but you’re right no Lin mention so maybe it was cut off.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

PFV’s comments on the game; specially on the last 2 plays.

  • blubell

Need to go to the Cody Zeller interview. This is not a direct link to that.

  • cdblue10

Me too I didn’t hear any

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Trade might take place.

  • JoeTeam

scrapping for last 20 sec or last 2 mins is not a just place for Lin. Take heart, because Livingston had 10 teams before GSW, and he was a main reason why GSW beat OKC tonight.

  • Dorothy

Lin should know this organization is hopeless and we are all dragged into this because our love for Lin 🙁

  • JoeTeam

That was a great game. Really a team effort all the way around, and some rushed sets when they were way ahead just having fun. They could have gone up by way over 20 to run downhill, but they rushed so many plays trying to play exciting ‘beautiful” ball.

SL for sure, I saw that too.

  • blubell

At this point we are all guessing here. You may be right but we don’t know for certain what is going on. So calling others hopeless is bit harsh.

  • KHuang

You and Reagan are BOTH RIGHT.

Batum was to shoot, but if he couldn’t then Lin was there.

Basketball is a fluid sport where the 1st option is taken away and then the 2nd one performs by design

  • Steppen03

I will still cheer for the Hornets to win games but I’m not down when they lose because it’s not JL7’s team. I still want this team to go as far as it can “while JL7 is still on the team.” In the end, it will still be a great experience for JL7 to have – To clear up all that bull-craps from previous teams.

  • Barry Allen

Seriously? He hits a clutch shot and not a single mention from the coach? That’s seriously some BS.

  • Lam

Well Linsanity is happening again across the pond, in another sport and on a bigger stage than the nba.

  • KHuang

Uh, I might be one of those “hopeless” ones that expects too little for Lin…

  • cdblue10

It’s a break up play and it’s very obvious,Lin is not the option on that play it’s just so happen that he’s in the right place and in the right time to deliver the dagger

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Well I listed my facts and other can disagree but don’t tell me that I rained on Lin parade while praising Clifford on baseless evidence.

Batum would have praised coach for great play instead of Lin if it was Cliff’s original play.

  • KHuang

The play simply didn’t press the ball in Kemba’s direction.

  • JoeTeam

I can agree with you’re call that Batum chose to execute a 2nd option. Gortat was within challenge range for his height. Batum was 9 for 20, 3 for 9 on 3s, so he was definitely NOT hot as some people are saying in this thread, so he made the right choice.

I still see the tape as him quickly deciding to draw defenders and making room for one of JLin’s best shots, the corner 3. IIRC, the left corner 3 is JLin’s best, followed by the right.

  • CJSHYY

He will stay. He will be #1 guy in the team.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Very obvious. You don’t go for the coldest shooter for a 3 when you don’t need.

  • KHuang

    I’ll be BLUNT:

    it was a LAME play.

Clifford drew that crap up because Batum and Walker refuse to run Clifford’s standard motion action.

If it were one of Clifford’s motion plays, Zeller would have come up while Batum curled to the side to receive a pass off a pick.

Instead it was just Clifford drawing up tic tac toe with guys standing stationary. LAME

  • Dorothy

Great, keep Kemba, give Max to Batum. Lin will leave and we will see Hornets never makes to play-off for years.

  • KHuang

Yes, it was a TERRIFIC basketball discussion minus the fighting!!!

    Both guys were RIGHT.

  • cdblue10

Lin always go to the corner no matter what play was draw up and it’s so happened that Batum was triple team and he was going to Lin’s direction for the hand off.If Cliff really designed that play then it should be Kemba who would be free up in that sequence.

  • KHuang

Coach Randy Wittman is another McHale type lame 80s coach who cannot figure out a proper defense against another lame offensive playset.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yes, we all find way to ease ourselves when we’re unhappy. Lin quoted Bible.

  • occupatio

i missed the game. how come lin took so few shots?

  • blubell

Haha. You’re not hopeless. You just have different perspective/opinion is all.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Would have been fewer.

  • your son’s voltaire

he was probably told by the coach that his minutes will go way down and that he may not finish most games

  • KHuang

Kemba’s job in this lame iso scheme is to stay out by the middle of the court where he can drive and shoot and brick.

Lin was just the court spacer, albeit the bailout court spacer that was MEANT to hit the three if Batum got pressed to the corners.

  • JoeTeam

cd, Batum made not move to the rim. He moved to draw coverage. He was not triple teamed, he moved to draw and then he passed and set up to prevent Gortat and Wall from getting to Lin. Cody had screened the other and rolled.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Jeremy hasn’t been allowed to get into rhythm.

  • JoeTeam

But Batum was intelligent and made NO effort to turn the corner. He went straight past Gortat to Wall.

  • Dorothy

how come? He has to have the ball in order to shot, right?

  • cdblue10

Batum is right handed he will always look for his right side if he was trapped and Lin is the nearest player to his side.

  • JoeTeam

I don’t mind being half right if it ups bball understanding. I just know in live plays, you make an fast choice to draw coverage, and people get WIDE open.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

In other words, Lin was NOT in the play for that bailout 3.

  • your son’s voltaire

i’m already looking forward to Lin in a Sixers uniform

  • occupatio

3 shots in 20+ minutes is really low even by the usual standards on this team

  • Dorothy

    he hardly touched the ball

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Icing out!

  • KHuang

The real DUMBNESS of that play is Batum being INCAPABLE of running the really effective plays that would’ve PREVENTED this last second Clifford Mad Libs iso play from even having to have been run.

  • KHuang

    YES HE WAS.

    He was the option.

  • cdblue10

Exactly he’s a court spacer,he’s not intended to shoot that ball and he’s not the primary option or 2nd option for that matter,it’s just so happened that Batum was trapped, that play wasn’t intended for Lin

  • occupatio

20 shots each by both batum and kemba….thats ridiculous

  • JoeTeam

He was not trapped. He had maybe a split second to take the 3 because of Cody’s screen, but he chose to take it to Gortat. Gortat is big enough to have contested and Batum was 3 for 9 at that point for 3s. Then he drew Gortat and went straight for Wall – he made no move to set up for getting inside or pull up. Watch the play again and see if you see what I mean. I trust you. Batume was not triple or double teamed. He dribble into traffic, passed it off in purpose, and backed into screening (moving yes). It was a great play, really fun to watch as a bball fan esp because it was the game winner. For both Batum and JLin.

  • Steppen03

I agree with other great posters: Lin was not the option to take that 3pt shot. He never was when KW & NB were on the floor and he never will. I seriously think this is JL7’s quick decision – his trust in himself.

  • blubell

You can see Wizards players ignoring Lin at the end of the game 🙁

  • JoeTeam

Yes, I would have loved to have seen JLin in the game most of 4th. This game was needlessly close, because Cliff will not play Lin at PG even on BF1. Funny how stephany the announcer said something like BF1 scored all the points in the run up, but Lin was just used to decoy. Bummed me out.

  • KHuang

    Livingston is NOTHING like Lin.

He was a 6th overall coveted pick that McHale wanted as Lin’s replacement in 2012.

The only readon Livingston has bounced around is because of injuries – and his inability to consistently hit jump shots.

  • KHuang

If you put it like that, I AM hopeless!

  • heart

Only Cody Zeller mentioned Lin in his post game interview. He said, “a big shot in the corner by Jeremy Lin..” That’s it guys/gals… Not a mention by Cliff, NB or anyone else, except Zeller. SMH!

  • your son’s voltaire

he only shot 3 times all game and then got the balls to go against the coach and took those clutch shots. he was fed up and we can see it in his body language and his verse

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Any highlights is better than none

  • blubell

Well, you declared yourself hopeless. I won’t argue with that. lol.

  • cdblue10

Wow Batum really gave that full screen for Lin,props to him. It’s hard to believed though that Clifford really run a play for Lin.

  • CJSHYY

If you watched the whole game you will not surprised by that… BTW, why did Zeller talk about Lin bc reporter asked him?

  • blubell

Sadly, this isn’t the first time. Not sure why it’s so hard to give credit to Jeremy when it’s blatantly obvious.

  • CJSHYY

I think that’s Hornets plan for next season. Lin will have his team to go next season & I don’t think it’s Hornets. Not worry at all.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

You are not making any sense. Stop with the wishful scenario.

  • JoeTeam

He’s been doing amazing esp with his post play in the 3rd. You might love watching his grit … he’s really matured his game in the last 2 yrs. Great player.

  • heart

Zeller mentioned on his own. Kudos to him!

  • CJSHYY

    Wow! Good to know that….

  • your son’s voltaire

if it was kemba who hit that last shot, coach would have been happy as a clam

  • heart

And he would mention KW’s name repeatedly w/o prompting.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Kemba Walker is irreplaceable. Without him in the last plays, Hornets can’t loss.

  • DX

After game over, no Wizards players handshake with Lin.

  • Rick Johnson
  • DX

Why MJ, GM & hornets fans didn’t see this.

  • KHuang

    So so INCONSISTENT player

  • JoeTeam

    The Play then:

Right now, JLin just inbounded and the play starts. Notice Batum is not moving to take his shot, he’s reading the D.

  • sport

Because he was the one who delivered their lost, not to mention Lin and Wall are rivals since summer league. It’s their way of disrespect and not acknowledging Lin as well. They didn’t have problem greeting Kemba though of course.

  • KHuang

If it was a standard Clifford play, ALL FIVE GUYS would have been movingZ

But Clifford drew that crap up because Batum and Walker cannot run any of the plays.

  • JoeTeam

Cody has set a weak screen, and Batum is not moving to take a 3. Gortat is in contest range. No double or trap yet.

  • sws94

I think it’s really basic. Lin came on for offense and it looked to me like a particular play was drawn for him. And Cliff was talking about how courageous Lin likes to take the big shot. As much as he praises Batum, that’s not a quality I remember him mentioning about Batum. I just think some find Cliff to be against Lin and all other reasoning is wrong. If he’s so against Lin, Lin’s not on the floor, in my opinion.

  • KHuang

In clutch, Lin is NEVER COLD.

  • JoeTeam

Cody has rolled, and Batum is looking at Lin. He’s drawn Gortat coverage, and while he’s being chased, he is not doubled because he’s moving fast. Right to Wall. Wall still has a chance to cover Lin, but he’s getting sucked in. Just like what Batum should be doing.

  • sws94

So Lin is brought in specially to play as a 2nd option? We won’t know. No mention was made of the shot or Lin coming in for the clutch shots. Lin made the shot, however it was drawn up. And Cliff put him out there.

  • showcasing & pampering =)
not sure which one is which

  • cdblue10

I saw it Joe but I don’t still believe that Cliff would draw that play for LIn,For Batum yes,Euro player always trained to give a higher percentage shots to their team mates.I will give the props for Batum he really gave a good screen and let Lin to shoot that 3.

  • sws94

He’ll get back scoring for BF1. I think of it as a blip because he’s too good not to.

  • JoeTeam

Batum is still not trapped. He has drawn 3 players to him, and is dishing to Lin. He has a wide open Cody too, but Lin is the plan.

  • Steppen03

    Two freaking words: #No Class
    Where’s the good sportsmanship ?
It’s okay. No handshakes = More winning shots – We will take it all season long.

  • JoeTeam

Now look at Batum complete the play – he is leaning back to screen out both Gortat and Wall.

  • blubell

    Highlights from JUN LIU

  • MoominFloren

    Only Gortat tapped his body…

  • CJSHYY

Bc Lin was not supposed to be the guy to do it in this team. Someone may not be happy… See where is Daniels now after that big shot to win the game vs King?

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I somehow doubt Lin was the second option…It looks like the defense completely broke down Charlotte play and it just happened Lin was right there and Batum just handed it to Lin who quickly took the 3.

So happy Lin made that shot..He probably would had gotten a lot of criticism if he had missed.

Clifford needs to find a way to get Lin more shots off the bench..and this is really the problem when coming off the bench…It is harder to get into a rhythm coming off the bench with fewer minutes.

  • sws94

Problem with this theory is you could use MKG for the same reason. Lin’s drive was a Lin play but a corner 3? He was brought in specially. It is quite possible that play was for Lin to shoot it. There was no hesitation from Batum, no look like he was going to shoot it, it looked to me like Batum drew away the defenders and Lin was there to knock down the corner 3 pretty much by design.

  • Rick Johnson

I think Cliff didn’t want Kemba to choke up the ball twice like he did the game before.

  • JoeTeam

Finally, Wall slips by but too late. Wide open Lin.

Where was Lin’s confusion? Where was the broken play? Where was Batum tripled?

This was a very well excuted play, and Batum and JLin get the credit for executing it without distraction.

Vid/pics don’t lie. Now can we just enjoy team bball without trying to make it so that it’s this or that motivation by this or that person? Those 2 just did a great job and CHA won.

  • JoeTeam

Well, then you have to let it be that Batum decided to play good ball. I’m just saying … look at Batum. He made a choice right there, and it was a good choice that won the game by his and Lin’s play.

I enjoy talking bball and your post is all bball. No conjecture about people because I really don’t care what is going on in Cliff’s mind or KW’s right at this play – I just love it that Batum and Jlin won the game right here.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Agree here…Lin is simply a decoy because MKG is such a bad shooter.

If MKG was still in, his man would had cheated to go guard someone else.

Clifford put Lin in exactly so that if the ball luckily got into his hand, he would be able to shoot…this is exactly what happened..the ball luckily got into Lin’s hand and he made the shot.

  • Steppen03

Who needs other NBA players’ handshakes when you have fans like this boy! =)

  • cdblue10

    Yep that’s a good play

  • JoeTeam

you might be right, kw (edit I got the wrong guy) … anyway he interferes with final plays unless he’s involved ha ha.

  • blubell
  • your son’s voltaire

good frame by frame recap of that last play. but it could be interpreted many ways. i see three players zoning in on Batum so he made the obvious choice to hand it off to a wide open Lin rather than risking a turnover trying to get it over the Polish Hammer to Cody. it was a read and react thing

  • sport

Is there a post interview for Lin? Did reporters ask him about the last plays? Surely Lin would speak the truth and spare us the time of arguing about it.

  • Lefon Jang

Kemba was too far in the other corner so he’s not part of the equation.

  • sws94

Kemba yes, Batum not really. He hit big shots this game and made them. He definitely passed the ball, a lot of the times not that well. He had 6TOs. BUt he had 9 assists. He played 44 minutes. He was SG so that amount of shots in 44 minutes when the team needed it was essential to the win. He played sloppy but well. Kemba was the usual Kemba, chucking about 1/3rd of them and driving with the intent of scoring vs. possibly setting up a team mate. Didn’t do much on defense either. Didn’t care for his game tonight, last night he was better.

  • Rick Johnson

This boy Lin fan at court-side was pretty excited too.

  • Lefon Jang

And we all know that Cody will never get the last shot!

  • your son’s voltaire

lol. you should know about Lin’s interviews by now. it would’ve gone something like, “Kemba is irreplaceable”

  • JoeTeam

If you connect the pics with the live action, Batum is moving willfully to execute THIS play. If you stand still or move on any bball court, you will draw people to you. Batum drew coverage this way and ended it with a butt screen, so it tells you he intended to get Lin that open 3. What you are saying on Cody may be true, but that would take a hook pass that Steph Curry always does, but Batum and even Lin to not do that often. So, on that option, Batum has already decided by the 3rd picture and it was a great play. Now did Cliff draw it up? I guess I don’t care because live plays between good players are what make this game beautiful, and this was beautiful and that’s why I’m posting my read of it. To share the beauty with y’all, not bitch and moan about this or that.

  • james brown

what a loser wall and co..good for them to lose to JLIN!

  • sws94

We didn’t see all of the Wiz players though. Some of them may have when Lin wasn’t on camera.

  • Lefon Jang

It’s only logical that Lin’s the MAN

  • JoeTeam

yep just draw it up so KW can’t mess up the play (like Daniels said) lol.

  • JoeTeam

    can’t trust him I agree.

  • kauaiblue

    I dont understand.

  • JoeTeam

    This!

  • your son’s voltaire

there was 11 seconds on the shot clock. they usually run 2 screens.. one on the ball and another on the weak side.. Marvin was probably instructed to set one for Kemba to come get the ball from Lin. i think it’s possible that Lin saw how open he was, decided to take it

  • Yascar

I’m not sure I get it either but I think it’s the hair and the expression.

  • your son’s voltaire

looking back at the replay, i see Batum try to drive but was cut off so he dished it to Lin. correct play by Batum not to force it

  • blubell

Jeremy seemed to be anticipating the pass from Batum.

  • your son’s voltaire

seductive drug look in his eyes

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Very enjoyable discussion.

  • Rick Johnson

Think it’s the slick back hair

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Very obvious. Batum was going for a quick 2.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That was lin permanent home, batum can’t miss it.

  • your son’s voltaire

he would have been like, “Kemba, i love you!!”

  • blubell

It has happened way too often and I’m not talking about this game only but from previous teams too. I don’t expect him to be mentioned in every game but it feels like they are trying hard to avoid mentioning Lin.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Batum was trap just like the way the heat read his play last game.

  • sws94

A lot of the times it is based on the reporter’s questions. They didn’t ask about Lin, they do sometimes and then the coaches answer or comment. But Lin had a quiet game except those big shots. So the questions were more about Batum and the comeback than anything else.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Clifford’s last minutes plays have never worked as far as I can remember in this season. This must be an exception.

  • Singapore BB Fan

    Eye of a Tiger

  • JoeTeam

    Thanks bb!

Jun Liu highlights 4:28: There you go, Stephanie’s report after the time out – Coach Cliff wants the team to concentrate on executing the play he just drew up. That’s it … Cliff drew up the play, read and react or just get it to Lin either way, Cliff set it up and no KW. So, no wonder why Cliff would not talk about it after the game – he doesn’t want to make waves letting Lin and Batum close out the game. I mean, KW fans can live with him having a few inconsequential FTs, yeah, that won the game.

  • LinMad

Lin only took 5 shots today but 2 out of the 3 shots made were clutch when it mattered the most.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Anyway, this must be one of the best discussions at the end of Lunar year.

  • kauaiblue

    Ok, leo cool… like jlin…

  • blubell

Not hard to say Jeremy knocked down big shots for us. The reporters usually ask about the outcome of the team and doesn’t necessarily have to ask about specific player. As I said earlier, not just about this game but throughout his career after Linsanity, he was an afterthought or receive backhanded compliments despite making a big impact. Often the praises come from the opponent team and not his own.

  • blubell

    Yup, heard that too.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Stephanie or Curry would not know what play either. They sat half court away and they only know best about praising cliff and kemba.

  • JoeTeam

I ain’t even LinMad ha ha.

  • Phillycheese

Man, not sure how Lin does it. He must have bee cold and then expected to do that??? Wow, just Wow!

  • sws94

Yup, drawn up play and well executed. Good to see Cliff put something in that worked vs. what happened in Friday’s game’s closing minutes.

  • blubell
  • Kwok Wai Lai

Don’t mess with broken hearts, man!

  • sws94

    Impressive.

  • james brown

well at least what we know is true and Jlin knew what happened..no need for him (JLIN) to repeat what was obvious for everybody

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Which means nothing if Lin didn’t sink that 3 at the corner.
Now you can see espn bragging about Wally and Nic taking the team to the glorious win.

  • james brown

so to those we saw, no one shaked his hands eventhough its evident Jlin was there to shake theirs.

  • Arsenium12 .

    Maybe this …
    __________

  • blubell

    Poor sportsmanship.

  • james brown

    cold blooded..LOL!

  • JoeTeam

Oh yeah, Happy New Year everyone!

  • Hope

Jlin has been playing really well. Can’t wait for this summer when mda and jlin reunite. Forget about hornets.

  • CJSHYY

I think it’s his hair style like the guys working for wall street… business like.

  • james brown

    embracing the MOMENT!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

What he really means is replaceable.

  • JoeTeam

he’s so clutch when he can focus just on himself. Often times in games when he makes a mistake, I can tell he’s thinking about other players and where they need to be. I know this because often in a game, you worry about your team’s set up and you just aren’t ready for your own shot. Life’s like that too … lol.

  • JoeTeam

I don’t see him trying to turn the corner. No sense to drive to Wall lol pun and in reality too..

  • Rick Johnson

At 4:55 was Lin acting like he was confused about the play. Before he Inbounded it he held up his hands like “what play we supposed to run”? Suckered Wall into thinking he wasn’t going to get the ball. LOL

  • JoeTeam

and Stephanie reports from the sideline Cliff wanted the team to focus on the play drawn up. So read n react fine by me.

  • JoeTeam

    who are they?

  • Phillycheese

Yea, I think the downplay of Lin’s three was on purpose. One factor ma be that Lin does not like the focus on himself and his teammates respect that. Another reason – not sure what goes on in the locker room, but I think Kemba’s ego would not take the 23 points that he scored yet the 5 at the end gets more play. Just speculating and talking shop. Would like the see team dynamics more closer though to judge.

  • JoeTeam

ha ha yep he’s so ‘deceptive’ my hero.

  • Phillycheese

I don’t think the play was ever designed as a Nic drive. He had two plays – Lin in the corner or swing it to Cody. Pass to Lin was easier.

  • yes, it’s really a simple play since Batum just needed to hand the ball to an unguarded JLin since Wall was sleeping.
Well designed play but it’s really hard to come in cold and made 2 huge baskets.
Clifford shouldn’t expect JLin to deliver like a closer in baseball.

  • sws94

Joe, I think you nailed it on the head. He gets so wrapped up in getting other players going he forgets to just focus on himself. One thing I agree with said in LA by James Worthy, who I think liked Lin, is he thinks too much. He plays best when he doesn’t think so much.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin is truly the sixth man now playing the sixth hightest minutes; unfortunately it’s still less than 24.

  • JoeTeam

to be sent to the other side on a game icing play is embarrassing enough, esp. after being called out by Daniels 2 games ago. If some of you are right and he’s on the block to be traded, no sense in talking it up too. I hope kw if gone so JLin can work with this team some more.

  • Phillycheese

No need to toot Lin’s own horn when there are lots of his fans doing it for him. Great players don’t need to tell everyone they’re great. Others do the talking for them.

  • JoeTeam

Yes, Lin always proves himself cold or not in the clutch. When he decides he has to win on his terms, that’s when he’s like Ali.

  • NONONO
  • JoeTeam

    over Wall and Gortat?

  • Those Youtube video many hours of practice finally paid off LOL

He was acting nonchalant, “oh ok here you go Batum” … go to the corner and “Swissssh!”

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Action speaks louder than words. Kemba is really replaceable.

  • blubell

He stings like a bee or Hornet in this case lol

  • LinMad

unfortunately it doesn’t matter about his minutes cause he can still be marginalized like today. 5 shots only and not much play making.

  • Phillycheese

Na, I see it as Kemba being a good team player and doing what he was told. Stay in the weakside corner and let the play develop without interference. If Wall had played Lin tight, I think Lin would have driven baseline which would then force Kemba’s man to come off him and Lin would have passed it to Kemba for an open three in the corner. Well designed play.

  • sws94

That’s classless. Hopefully, not all of them dud it and Gortat slapped hands with Lin. I rarely see that. Not cool at all.

  • LinMad

its not even about Kemba anymore. It’s more like Batum and other players like Lamb now in the way of Lin being a backup PG. Lin isn’t even a PG unless Kemba takes a day off like we saw at Cavs game. He’s more of defender and observer this whole season. He only gets to shoot when coach says ok.

  • NONONO

I did not watch the game because Cliiford treats Lin more and more like BS did. From what I read from the commnents and Lin’s time and scores, I think I made the right decision to join the Chinese New Year party instead. Lin’s cluth shot not just saved the game, it might be the one key game to make the playoff. I am not surprised by Hornets teammates and coach did not give any credits to Lin, I was suprised that Lin always gave credits to teammates even some players not even in lineups. what if Kemba or Kemba did not make TO and Hornets won the game last night? Lin could have seen even fewer mins today and forget about the clutch shot

  • sws94

Closers warm up, lol. Lin just came in pretty cold and made perfect pitches.

  • JoeTeam

Some people are like that, I’m not special to see it. If you grow up in the church, you get it ingrained that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. But when the game is on the line, JLin frees himself of how he was raised and starts to be the athlete that he trained to be. That;s why I think he could benefit from a sports psychologist, to free himself from the worry of the whole team when it’s his time, not just crunch time. I love his choices, and that is just a minor tweak I’d love to see as a fan because it’s my weakness in sports too. My teams, teams I’m on, win. But some days, I wish I had more monster plays just for my own self satisfaction.

  • Phillycheese

I think the action that spoke to me was the coach’s belief in Lin to sub him back into the game with 3 min left.

  • Cold-Blooded SmiLin Assasin!

  • sws94

I agree. And it wasn’t like Lin had any great flow in the game either. He only had 2 points.

  • JoeTeam

A 3rd option! I would take that too … a win is important now with CHA so close to being washed out. We as fans gotta take the wins if they come, because KW will cause close losses. I’m not wanting KW to look bad, just can’t stand ISO losing games for teams I’m cheering for.

  • LinMad

if Lin didn’t make those 2 clutch shots in the 4th, I would be even more upset about the coaching decisions. In fact the last play seem like a fluke. Both his clutch shots were a fluke. He wasn’t supposed to shoot. I think it was either for Kemba or Batum to take the shot. When Lin was inbounding, he raised both his hands in confusion. Someone wasn’t listening to coach Cliff and I think Batum just decided to pass it to Lin cause players weren’t running the play.

  • Phillycheese

Actually the layup got Lin going I think. He was all business after that. No jumping, no high fives, just ran back to the bench and sat down. I sensed some frustration from Lin this game. Like what do I have to do to get a chance.

  • JoeTeam

Always better to be with friends than in front of a screen. This discussion is really nice because it was a great play and JLin did something great tonight.

  • Phillycheese

Nah, it was a decoy to bait Wall off thinking it was a Batum shot. Lin has said many times, there are little things that he had picked up that a normal fan would not even think about. In NBA, there are many misdirection plays.

  • JoeTeam

I would be too, not PG action in BF1 just scooting around playing D. Then that weird MW JLin end game rotation very bad coaching.

  • John Focker

Shootaround interview before the Heat game:

    Kemba:
“I feel pretty good actually, shootaround is great, I came in work out a
little bit before shootaround, and I feel pretty good most likely I go
tonight, Coach said : If you do go, there is little limitations there, like little minutes something like that.
    He
can’t , he can’t , I will be get mad if he do. na, no limitations , I
can’t put my own minutes if I won’t play, so , oh, yeah !”

    Clifford:
“I think everybody is fine and Kemba made a shootaround if he feels good tonight that he will play,
If Kemba does play, you will limited his minutes or not.
no, no, we talk straight, this is the situation that base on where we’re, he will be limit anyway.”

There’s something cooking in the locker room, stench of dirty laundry flowing out… Kemba and Batum on the trading block being showcased, MKG and Lin (and many on the bench) limited and held back to avoid drawing attention of potential Kemba/Batum shoppers and requesting MKG and/or Lin to be packaged in.

I do believe Hornets trying to get rid of Kemba first and foremost. Batum’s a small issue since his contract expires at the end of the season anyways. But since Kemba’s a tough sell, the two may be packaged or traded in multi-team deal.

  • JoeTeam

the pics and vid don’t lie. Thanks. If Lin were confused, he got unconfused right when the ball left his hand.

  • LinMad

Tbh, if Lin didn’t make those 2 clutch plays or he was benched and never brought back in the last 3 minutes, we would have lost a similar game like the game before. I feel like the last play was drawn for Kemba or Batum, but they didn’t want to take the big shot. Somehow, Lin got the ball and decided to shoot the 3.

You know why I know this? Cause why would Coach Cliff draw a play for a 3 when they were up by 1 point? They just needed a fast 2 points to be ahead by 3 and only give the opponent a chance to tie up. It’s also safer than shooting a 3 pointer. This just shows that there is something behind the scenes that isn’t working. I dont’ know if Kemba respects the coach or if Batum just got caught and thought he had to dish the ball to Lin. Either way, that 3 was clutch even though we didn’t need to be up by 4 points, we did anyways cause the ball was in the right hands at the right time.

  • Briiick

How couldn’t MKG get a rebound playing 27 minutes ?

  • sws94

That’s the usual stuff during trade season and close to deadline. But a lot of the time, nothing happens. Maybe that’s why Lin looks tight now.

  • John Focker

I think Clifford wants Lin to be the real hero in front of home crowd, but without damaging Kemba/Batum stats so to help with the trade. MKG (and to lesser extent Kam and Lamb, the former stood out too much in Cavs game) is also being limited.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Amen.

  • your son’s voltaire

it was a drawn up play for Batum to get the ball, not for Lin to end up with it. why would clifford even draw up a play for a player who he cooled off on the bench?

  • sws94

He’s really tired. The 4 months not playing is catching up to him now that he’s playing more games. The back to back wore him out.

  • NONONO

From Lin’s tweet, you know how he felt last night

    https://twitter.com/jlin7/status/696169854143823872

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Absolutely agree.

  • John Focker

Only explanation is that coach told him to hold back. B2B IS exhausting, but it can’t be ZERO rebound exhausting.

  • your son’s voltaire

yup. if it’s a bucket, they’re gonna say it’s a drawn up play and how brilliant the coach was. if the shot hadn’t gone in, they’d say it was suppose to end up in Kemba’s hands. that’s the business

  • John Focker

Kemba’s a tough sell, if he stays in CHA after Feb 18 it’d be because no other team’s GM got fooled by CHA showcasing.

  • LinMad

maybe Cliff is trying to devalue Lin. Maybe he drew that play for Kemba knowing that the ball will go into Lin’s hands so he can panic and miss the big shot. So he can devalue and Hornets can keep him another season. But tbh, this is really stretching it. I think if Lin had a good season with Hornets and was treated fairly, he wouldn’t even think about going to another team.

  • Acbc

Lin played with his mind locked in a shell to desensitize the pain of realization that he’s been done wrong again. Who can blame him? I’ve been there and I’m sure a lot of you have as well. When we as minorities are put into a no win situation, we are caught between a rock and a hard place. There’s no complaining to mommy. All we can do is suck it up and move on. Lin’s not timid or weak, he’s blocking out the pain yet again of rejection. Most of the haters that don’t get that have never been subjected to racial or predjudice. We can’t complain…who can we complain to? We have learned to internalize that pain and anger and bury it deep within us. Bury so deep that we can leave room for more s*** later.

It’s painful to watch him suffer all the indignities he’s had to endure. At the same time, I marvel at the immense strength of his love and forgiveness. How he does that is beyond my comprehension. I can’t forgive BS, Kobe, Melo, Mchale….yet Lin does. He’s the one suffering it and yet he’s the one who can handle it so much better than all of us.

The fans that complain about Lin being passive or quiet or stoic need to live his life for a week and then see if you can get up the next day after beating the Cavs with a great heroic game and then sent to bench like he was the worst player on the bench. See if you can even get out of bed. See if you could go to the gym and practice.

  • sws94

Noticed that. Had a real game face on. And Lin was frustrated. Hopefully, this helped ease some of that. I don’t think he likes how BF1 played and it’s better if he plays with better players like Marv, MKG, Batum and Cody.

  • John Focker

Not maybe, Cliff DEFINITELY is trying to devalue Lin, as trade deadline approaches. If Lin shines then teams would ask for him in a packaged trade deal. Don’t forget that Lin at 2M is a SUPER STEAL!!!

  • GIF time: With the shot clock running down 8, 7…, JLin clutch drive & reverse layup gave the Hornets 3pt lead at 101-98

Hornets are obviously NOT tanking, unlike the Lakers. So whatever doesn’t make basketball sense is because it has NOTHING to do with basketball, but with business. Between all the weird adjustments and the timing of it, team realignment makes more sense. MJ and Cho were ecstatic during and after the Cavs game, but didn’t bother to show up for Heat and Wizards’ games upon Walker’s return. I say the Cavs game was the nail in the coffin for Kemba’s days in CHA.

  • sws94

I don’t usually do this, but here’s an interesting take on the game from one of the moderators on Real GM. I know you won’t like the channeling the inner Lin stuff for Lin’s turnovers, but his take on Batum’s game is close to how I felt about it. And Lin. And MKG’s game which wasn’t much to write home about.

    fatlever, realgm:

Finally thoughts on, the actual game (now that I’ve spent the last hour dealing with stupid crap).

That game was so freaking bizarre. Batum had one of the weirdest great/awful games I’ve ever seen. Its like he channeled all the good and bad traits from both Kemba and Lin and jammed them all into one game. He was forcing his own offense more than I have seen him do all season. I am getting so tired of him seeing him iso only to settle for a turn-around fade-away. What is he shooting on those shots this year, maybe 5%? He had all the bad traits of Kemba hero-ball. On the other side, he had some of the most mind-numbing turnovers, channeling his inner Lin. But at the same time, he absolutely killed it. We don’t have a chance without him playing hero-ball and turning it over. He was like a caricature of all the things we love and hate about our two PG, wrapped into a 6’8 body.

Then we had Kemba, who would alternate between awful shot and HUGE made amazing shot seemingly every other play. Lin, who was a complete afterthought for most of the game, then shows up in the last 3 minutes and does his hero ball and helps save the day. Lin played most of that 2nd quarter as the “PG”, yet I don’t think Batum let him near the ball long enough for Lin to ever initiate the offense on a single play. The few times Lin did have a chance to do something, he shied away and gave it back to Batum (or Kemba when they were together), until those last few shots at the end of the game.

I’m just so damn confused after this game. I don’t think the way we played tonight – Batum, Kemba, Lin, MKG and the bench – is sustained winning basketball.

Perhaps Batum was just fed up with how the 2nd unit played last night and started tonight and he said F all if you, I’m doing everything. It worked, barely. And lets face it, the bench was abysmal for the 2nd straight night. This is basically the same unit that was rolling teams earlier in the year. They really need to find their groove again.

This was not a good night for MKG. Who the h*** was he defending tonight? He was on Porter, then Wall, then Beal, back on Porter, then Wall again.. some plays I had no idea who he was guarding, he was running around trying to defend all 5 players. I was screaming at Cliff to get MKG out and put in Lin in the 4th. It was clear his defense wasn’t having an impact, they were scoring at will, and we really needed the offense. I’m glad to see Cliff was flexible enough to make that change late. If we stuck with MKG tonight, I don’t think we win the game.

Hats off to Lin for killing that open 3 to ice the game. That was a huge shot. Its nice having several guards this year who aren’t scared of big moments.

The Happy Days reference from Collins was hilarious. Collins is the best.

And we have another chance to get to .500, vs the Bulls, our 3rd chance in the last few games.

  • DX

Some Hornets fans didn’t realize 20 shots making 20 points is not good. OMG😥

  • That’s a really good point that JLin can’t shine too bright because teams might want him in a trade talk.

    There’s showcasing and there’s .. cold-casing!
So we need to vote low on the next 2 games in our stat poll 😀

  • your son’s voltaire

those are the type of gullible fans the NBA likes to target when they’re marketing their merchandises and selling their tickets. the NBA manufactures “star” players for that sole purpose. make $$

  • John Focker

The win over Cavs grabbed A LOT of attention around the league, especially in the EC. GMs sure took notice and 2M is a cheap scratcher’s ticket with HUGE potential.

  • John Focker

There are fans who can only add, maybe subtract, but definitely not divide. Therefore they can’t understand what shooting percentage means.

  • CJSHYY
  • your son’s voltaire

lol. so true. math obviously isn’t their strong point

  • LinMad

I don’t think Lin is as TO prone as Batum. Batum makes the craziest passes, it’s like half a**ed passes like how some of our bigs make half a**ed screens.

  • your son’s voltaire

Nathan knows whats up. says it as it is. keepin it real

  • your son’s voltaire

yup, i stopped reading at that point

  • John Focker

Old Chinese adage of the day: Can’t discuss ice with a summer-only insect.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Clutch shot was right in front of him too

  • sws94

I agree with you. But the other stuff he brought up about Batum and how weird his game was I agree with. And stuff about Lin and the importance of his big shots.

  • LinMad

the biggest coaching mistake I see right now is not allowing Lin touch the ball more and running the point. You got Batum and Lamb and BROB and even Hawes trying to run the point. No wonder 2nd unit is so bad now.

Also they don’t move off the ball when Lin gets the ball. They aren’t creating. I said this early on, that if Cliff doesn’t make it clear that Lin is the PG, we’re going to have a lot more ISOing/selfish plays and losses. They don’t respect him at the point even though he is the best PG for the bench and the starters. The respect comes when Lin gets the ball more and shoots and play makes. Otherwise, Lin will just be an observer on offense. Coach Cliff created this environment where Lin isn’t empowered to be the point guard. He’s not even a shooting guard, he takes few shots to even be considered a SG. Especially with the minutes he is getting, he should have shot at least 10+ times.

  • sws94

Don’t. Read the rest. I warned you about that part. The rest is very good.

  • sws94

Too late. What he did on Wednesday raised antennas for those teams that need a PG.

  • bolero

MKG was tired. Batum mentioned that in the interviewed

  • John Focker

Hence the heavy freeze in the b2b games, trying to dupe interested parties into believing it was a “fluke”. Only home crowd in attendance would have paid attention to who was “clutch” tonight, especially after Kemba’s “clutch” TOs last night vs Heat.

Howe crowd were really impressed by the last five clutch points.

  • I wonder if 76ers get concerned and try to place some cold calls to the Hornets

“We’d like to inquire the availability of your PG?”
“Kemba? .. You have to shell out a lot of assets like..”
    “No, Lin”
“Lin’s inconsistent.. You don’t want him! How ’bout some Brian Roberts?”

    lol

  • John Focker

“Yeah…Lin sucks! Just look at his numbers in the last two games…just look at them!!!” LOL

“Back to Roberts…unless you wanna talk Kemba…uh, hello?”

  • LinMad

    his father looks proud

  • zxcvb

No chance they make the playoffs unless Kemba gets injured or traded. Without Lin, they’d be slightly better than Brooklyn.

  • LinMad

If they ever make playoffs, it’s just going to be Kemba/Batum showcase.

  • JoeTeam

jus like steph did tonight, used the rim for his protector.

  • DX

Was very uncomfortable when watching this game. After second thinking, everything has bad side must be a good side. Lin has shown his ability as start PG. Now Lin can stay healthy and wait the chance coming.

  • zxcvb

Honestly, I think Lin should pull an Omer Asik and fake an injury. Just sit out and let them lose. He can use the ankle as an excuse. Or a sore back/back spasms (which don’t show up on X-ray/MRI).

  • “Please, tell me more about Lin”
“No, really. 24pts/6pts/7pts … too inconsistent. He only played big against scary top EC teams like Cavs & Raptors. Uhm, that came out wrong …”
“oh it’s okay, ..Mike said he can work with that”

    lololol

  • LinMad

I don’t like how some Lin fans are praising Cliff for leaving Lin in for that clutch play. We do not know if the play was drawn for Lin. It could have been for Batum but he was trapped and passed it to Lin. Lets not jump to conclusions just because the outcome was good on that play.

We’ve seen Cliff’s inbound plays before in previous games. Like the one where Frank inbounds the ball to Kemba and we went to OT. Then again to Batum and went to OT2. It was only by luck that we won that game thanks to Lin’s clutch plays too.

  • DX

Not possible, 1st it’s unhonest, Lin won’t do that. 2nd how the other teams or coaches think.

  • JoeTeam

Batum was not trapped. You just see the video and the pictures and you can see he was not trapped. He initiated the play and it worked out – he ended the play by screening for Lin. That was a drawn play. Stephanie said the focus was for everyone to execute the drawn play. I didn’t seen any scrambling. The whole play went smoothly. It was not luck. It was stone cold steve ausLin.

  • Acbc

Hi Blubell, I’ve got a comment pending. In discus. No idea why. Can you see if you could release it?
    Thanks

  • JoeTeam

Gotta say, it was a great night on 2 key plays. Goodnight Lin fans, tomorrow is another day. Can’t wait until somebody is traded.

  • LinMad

I think it was luck. If Cliff really drew a 3 point play when we’re up by 1 point, that is pretty risky low IQ play knowing that we only needed a quick 2 pointer to be up by 3.

I don’t think any coach would draw a 3 point play when you’re up by 1. If this was a playoff game, coach would get fired if that 3 was missed. They usually play safe and drive to the bucket for an easy 2 and hope they get fouled for a free throw attempt.

I think Batum felt like he couldn’t drive to the bucket cause there were more than 1 guy on him and they were a lot quicker, so he went with Lin at the 3 not knowing if Lin would take that shot or not.

  • John Focker

Blubell is concerned that other forum sites are asking for you in a trade, gotta keep you down until trade deadline.

  • LinMad

It’s possible cause Omer Asik did it before lol

  • Acbc

    Lol, I’m pulling an Asik.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    I tried all night.

  • John Focker

I think Cliff is real sneaky and he’s butting heads with Kemba without contradicting F/O directives on trade.

Kemba cost Cliff the win vs. the Heat, and Cliff let Kemba pad his stats but lets Lin be the dagger hero in front of home crowd to get this win. Also works as preventative measure to convince home crowd of Lin’s clutch prowess and Kemba’s “unclutchiness”.

When it makes ZERO basketball sense, then it’s because something other than basketball is at play.

  • LinMad

ya there were actually 3 guys on Batum. I think the play was for Batum to drive in and make a quick bucket but 3 guys is no way he can do it. Also, after watching the replay again, I see Marvin Williams raising his hands up in shock when Lin made that 3. It was like a play that wasn’t drawn up by the coach that worked out for the better.

Now Cliff will take all the credit for something he did not do. All I’m saying is that there are too many signs that makes me believe it was a fluke.

  • Dan Ang

That is why we are not NBA coaches. Steve Clifford and co. knows when to think outside the box, predict what the opposing defense will do….and trust their players to execute ia drawn up play for the most unlikely shot taker. Sign sealed and DELIVERED. No crazy conspiracy, agenda, Batum got trapped so Lin bailed him out angles. IMHO

  • John Focker

Lin’s got the inside scoop. Things are happening in the locker room as well as on the trading block.

  • sws94

I don’t know why conspiracy agendas are so popular here. It was basketball, and nicely done. Lin delivered. Be happy (to some extent).

  • LinMad

There’s no crazy agenda if Lin did bail Batum out. It’s just Batum being smart. But the coach being not so smart.

There are too many signs that make me believe this was a fluke. For instance, Lin looks confused before inbounding the ball. Batum gets 3 guys on him, obviously won’t shoot it. Lin shoots a 3 when obviously we don’t need a 3 to win the game. We just needed a 2 to be up by 3 points. Lastly, Marvin Williams raising his hands like a miracle just happened when Lin shot it. He looked surprised/shocked.

  • sws94

We’re probably wrong about so much. Lin talked about NBA basketball with these 2 brothers, I forgot their names (same guys that did the fake Chinese food video). Said there is so much the average watcher doesn’t realize about their game of system basketball.

  • Acbc

You cannot be serious. Even a blind man can see that there is no way you keep Lin on the bench for 16 minutes and expect to win. Ask yourself why? Ask yourself why? How can you trust a coach that keeps a great player like Lin on the bench?

  • LinMad

If you guys don’t think Lin’s last shot was a fluke and the big shot was supposed to be for Batum, what about Lin’s 1st bucket in the 4th? The one where Zeller couldn’t handle the ball so he passed it to Lin and Lin drove and did that layup? That was not drawn for Lin. So it’s funny how people were like, “Oh coach is playing Lin for offense and then taking him out so MKG can be the defense.” Cause trust me, if Lin didn’t get that opportunity, it would have been Zeller shooting and Lin continuing to be defender/observer. The ball was obviously for Zeller to score but Batum’s pass wasn’t good.

So that whole pattern where Lin got put in for offense and taken out for defense was just desperation by the coach. I think coach was actually using Lin for defense rather than offense. That’s how I feel about this. And I think the last shot was also a fluke, it was supposed to be for Batum to drive and make a quick 2. Everyone was standing outside the perimeter to create space for Batum to drive in. Even Lin was standing outside the perimeter. There is no reason for Lin to shoot a 3 when we’re up by 1. We just needed a quick 2 to be up by 3.

Even the announcers said this was going to be a quick bucket before the inbound was even made. Also too many signs that show that Lin was confused with the inbound, MW looking shocked after Lin scored that 3, etc. I rest my case. I just don’t want Cliff taking credit for a fluke.

  • Acbc

Have you two ever played basketball? Man you are beyond hope. You suck up to the idiotic coaching like its the best thing since slice bread.

  • sws94

All I have to say to you is why go to fake high-consciousness in your long posts where this post comes out of very low vibrations? And maybe ask yourself what you are asking others.

  • Acbc

Pslams, can you relate a posy I made half an hour ago. Thanks

  • LinMad

how can you trust a coach who doesn’t enable the best PG on the team to be the PG on the team? Wasted talent.

If Lin didn’t make those 2 shots int he 4th and missed them and we lost the game, do you think you would feel the same way? If I was a good coach, I would not put that responsibility on a player who only shot the ball 3 times the rest of the game and was iced out on offense for majority of the game.

What I’m saying is that if Cliff really did setup that play, he is setting up Lin for failure. He could have missed those 2 shots and all the hate would go towards Lin even though he shot only 5 times the whole game. The blame would be on Lin and no one else. Not the superstars who shot 20 times and did all the play making the majority of the game. But a player who was pretty much not in the game for 3 and half quarters..

  • sws94

Patented Lin shot. It looks difficult, laying it up with in the opposite direction he’s going in with his right hand with his back twisting towards the basket, but he makes it with regularity and very smoothly and quickly.

  • JoeTeam

    fung brothers.

  • sws94

    Yes, thanks. Those guys.

  • My personal take (with 70% confidence level) is that play was a trick play drawn for JLin.
    1. If you watched Jun Liu’s highlights starting at 5:32, Batum ran to draw 2 defenders to Wall and very early he passed the ball to JLin, who was wide-open and drained the 3 with ice on his vein.

    2. And check out this screen shot where Zeller was looking at Lin’s direction to see if he has received the ball.
In the highlights you could see he didn’t look at Batum at all to see if he might drive or pass to Zeller.

    3. The camera was on Lin who pretended to be confused with what the play was [04:54] throwing up his hands.

But anyway, that’s not the most important thing. JLin was not happy at all even after he drained the shot.
He clearly didn’t like how he was being used in the game and it showed.

Hope he knows there might be still some trade scenarios requiring to downplay his role in the next 2 games.

  • JoeTeam

eating lousy Charlotte Americanize chinese fast food. Those did not look appetizing compared to the local small restaurants out here in the Bay Area.

  • JoeTeam

u, me … soul brothas … lol. I just played a lot of ball and Batum’s moves were not unplanned. Either he got the wisdom, the Quan, or it was drawn. JLin mr clutch, one way or the other I am happy either way.

Man, I said I’d go to bed. Guess it was just that good of a play, still happy about it.

  • JoeTeam

3 guys on a guy is very different than what batum did, to draw 3 guys. He trapped them, with his butt screen, while JLin drained the 3. That’s great playing.

  • Acbc

And what of your repeated ramblings clifford apologist comments. What are you telling us to digest? You may like chomping on fecal matter from The Hornets, but I’m sick and tired of it. I think most of the even balance voices have had it up to our necks with Bad Coaching and Ba FO politics. How you continue to sell it like its apple pie is beyond me and a lot of people here.

Who are you really talking to?

  • JoeTeam

Let Steph send over the royalty checks!

  • LinMad

    1. I don’t know, I think Batum just thought about not shooting the 2 cause he drew 2 defenders (almost 3 defenders) and knew he couldn’t make a quick 2, so he passed it to Lin. If anything, Batum deserves the praise for knowing what to do in that situation.

    2. I just think he was staring at his guy. There are 3 guys guarding Batum and Lin. One of them is Cody’s guy? And it looks like Zeller was driving in giving whoever has the ball another option if they are trapped or possibly getting the rebound from Batum if he misses, but Lin shot it instead.

    3. I don’t think cameras matter here. Its not like the cameraman knows what the play is and knows who to shoot the camera at. I think Lin inbounding the ball is the reason why the camera was on him. And I honestly feel that Lin was confused cause someone, possibly Kemba, was not in the right spot.

  • I think the 1st bucket was a bailout by Lin with 8 seconds left.
But the 2nd one is likely to be a set trick play after seeing Lin can make the clutch drive

Remember that Clifford said after the Cavs game that Lin likes to take big shots at end of game?
It could factor into this set play. But I still don’t like how Lin’s role was diminished in the last 2 games (even if there is trade scenario requiring to downplay his stats to minimize interest)
    https://twitter.com/JTyree704/status/695073705827786752

  • that could also be a possible interpretation.
It’s hard to say without confirmation for sure.
I think Zeller post-game interview only mentioned it’s good that Lin made the 3 w/o confirming if it’s a set play. I need to listen myself tomorrow

  • Phillycheese

This makes no sense. No coach ever sets up their players to fail. Their only goal (except for BS) is to win. Coach said Lin wanted the ball in late game situations, and then he puts him in one with the ball in his hands. Why the disbelief? The first shot was not a set up play. It came off a broken play after the offensive rebound from Marvin. You complain when Lin is not given the opportunity. Then when he is given the best opportunity you complain that it was not fair to put him in it. Geez, there is no making you happy if you insist on being miserable.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

…the point was it’s not the play for lin to score 3. Smh

  • JoeTeam

Stephanie said that the main focus out of the TO was that Cliff wanted everyone to run the play he drew up. It’s in the Jun Liu highlights, and I think it was one of those Time Out reports where we are given the inside scoop but the game starts so people in the arena can’t get the scoop to the players in time.

  • your son’s voltaire

Batum drove but he was too slow and hit a wall (John Wall). if he hadn’t passed it to Lin, it would have been a charge on Batum. if he forced the pass to Cody, it would have been picked up by the Polish Hammer. Batum noticed Wall had already committing to the drive so he passed it to Lin who was wide open. i’m just like you, i won’t give clifford credit he didn’t deserve. and no, clifford didn’t just turn a corner as most people here want to believe

  • Dan Ang

Yes I play BB, maybe not enough to recognize all these soap opera angles the Hornets/Cliff/Kemba are doing to Jeremy Lin.

  • your son’s voltaire

that’s a tweet from the CLE game

  • LinMad

they don’t always listen to him. Didnt’ Troy put Kemba on blast the other day for not running a play that could have won the game early?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

No one drew a 3 point play when you’re ahead by 1.

  • LinMad

that’s exactly how I feel. Batum gets the credit here.

  • your son’s voltaire

I’m too old to play BB now. But I’ve learned a lot through the years from someone who went pretty far in college and the pros and who talked BB with me and his coaches many moons ago. Some of the fundamental things haven’t changed but the game continues to evolve.

  • JoeTeam

don’t let your head fall of with smh. You just can’t stand people disagreeing with you, right? I have no problem if you think it’s was luck. I don’t get it, but you get to be you.

Whatever, you’re being obtuse and you know it.

  • JoeTeam

who said she was? She was reporting on what she heard during the TO.

  • LinMad

He says a lot of things but doesn’t always show it.

  • JoeTeam

That’s exactly why it makes sense that he was focusing on his team running the play he drew.

  • LinMad

If Cliff wants any credit, he should think about playing Lin at PG and giving him more touches.

  • JoeTeam

I would if I had lin drawn up to be open in the corner 3.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He was talying about real team and coaches basketball, not the basketball on your driveway.

  • sws94

Yes, and not to worry about (milking) the clock. And they ran it. And we have our different interpretations. But wasn’t Lin in there after already hitting a big shot (off an obvious broken play)? That says a lot to me.

  • blubell
  • JoeTeam

c’mon, sw, you are just fighting for nothing. We all know Cliff is not as good of a coach as Lin thought he was. He is better than McHale and BSc in my book but he’s made some very dumb mistakes and lost many winnable games because of his poor coaching.

  • sws94

Me too. Not matter how cold he was all game. The guy delivers in the clutch.

  • JoeTeam

lol. that is not bball so the topic is shifting sideways.

  • blubell

    Just approved your post.

  • your son’s voltaire

having experience playing BB or not doesn’t make a person any more knowledgeable about what’s going on. look at all the kobe fans out there.. dumb as bricks lol

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He didn’t complain, he just pointed out it’s a broken play and lin bailed them out

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That’s why you are not a coach.

Same like some people double down on 12 on black jack

  • LinMad

I don’t think that was the best opportunity. It made Lin look stupid shooting a 3 when we only needed a 2 to be up by 3 points. If Lin missed that 3, we’d all be scratching our heads thinking why did he take a 3?

So my best bet is that Lin bailed Batum out cause he had too many defenders on him.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

So why realized on what she said?

  • your son’s voltaire

i think you just really want to believe in clifford and arguing on his behalf and brushing aside any criticism he gets

  • Phillycheese

“If I was a good coach, I would not put that responsibility on a player who only shot the ball 3 times the rest of the game and was iced out on offense for majority of the game.” Sure sounds like a complaint to me.

  • sws94

Lin looks stupid taking an open shot? Really?

  • Phillycheese

It was an open three from the shortest spot on the court. Lin is shooting greater than 40% from there. The only better shot would have been a layup, but they weren’t getting that.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That’s true. Lin was iced out all game why would Cliff draw play for lin which he didn’t. He had great point

  • Acbc

What you fail to realize is that people have emotions that need to be considered in making comments such as yours. When you talk about low vibrations, that’s exactly why you need to step back and not take the side of the powerful people that control Lin’s life as a player. Even you have to admit that Clifford is flawed. So when people get upset about how Clifford has benched Lin for 2 games after he helped in a major way to win a game against the mighty Cavs, you come on to defend them like they are doing what is right by the team. How’s that not creating low vibrations.

The first rule of negotiation is to defuse the emotion and try to understand their needs and frustrations. You meanwhile present the opposing sides point of view as a balanced point of view but what you have done is created a focal point for yourself of that anger and frustration. You see it from your point of view as a logical discussion but that’s not people need. We are angry and heated, we need a sympathetic ear but you play the devils advocate. That is very low vibration. You continue to talk down to others who are frustrated and angry as if they have no right to be that way. You are unsympathetic and try to battle emotion with logic. When you do that you’ve placed yourself as an adversary, a low vibrations adversary.

  • your son’s voltaire

exactly, i’d hate to guess what Stephanie Ready would have said if Lin missed that shot.. “He was suppose to swing it over to Kemba! Why did he attempt a 3 when we only needed a 2!?”. and clifford in the post game interview would have destroyed Lin for sure

  • LinMad

Ya not with 2 defenders on Batum. I just don’t believe Cliff is that smart of a coach. We’ve seen him beat the same ISO play over and over again with failure. Especially when it came to Kemba and Batum. I just feel that Batum wised up and decided, hey i’m not going to shoot over 2 defenders, i’m going to pass it to an open Lin at the 3.

  • JoeTeam

ok look I can’t feel good about trying to make you think like me. Just wanna say it’s not worth getting into it when you know, Cliff is no Pops. I love how Pops and Tim Duncan laughed when that Dallas guy trash talked him. It’s guys at the top of their game having a good time.

I often think we don’t have to be fair to people making millions who are incompetent at their jobs. The world is full of injustice, so those guys/gals who have it good need to be accountable to their jobs. They don’t need you or me to defend their incompetence.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

No I can’t stand stubborn and stupid

  • Phillycheese

Because he trusted Lin to make that shot. Batum trusted Lin to take that shot. Every time Lin came in he did something right away this game – scored within 15 sec in the first sub, scored the layup after checking in with 3min left. . He didn’t play particularly well but he came up huge, like he always does.

  • xeroid

People here are complaining because Lin when in the game were used mostly as a decoy. The ball swing usually away from him, and rarely did he got any touch of the ball.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yeah cliff is so bad, even worse some believed he drew a 3 pt play just for lin when they’re up 1.

  • JoeTeam

now you are getting personal and showing your intense need to dominate with your beliefs. Let it go, You were wrong about the play. It’s there on vid and in reporter’s summary and in picture. And, if you played bball, you would not say Batum was trapped. He owned Gortat, Wall. He butt-screened them. It was so cool, and you are just not allowing for the coolness of it because you need to beat me. Go ahead, you win.

Bury so deep that we can leave room for more crap later.

  • Phillycheese

That’s why the inbound went to Batum and not Kemba. Coach figured Kemba had a higher likelihood of going hero and breaking the play. Whereas Batum has higher basketball iq and made the right play. I am sure that play had two or more options depending what the defense gave them.

  • LinMad

I don’t know what your definition of well is but I thought Lin played well. 3 of 5 shooting. 2 which were huge shots that I believe were flukes. He didn’t have a lot of opportunities (5 shots) and that is mostly on the coach. Not just shots, but playing making too.

There is no reason Lin should be marginalized after having a big game vs the Cavs. And if you don’t see the marginalization of Lin, you haven’t looked close enough.

  • JoeTeam

It wasn’t a broken play. There was no indecisiveness. Lin gave it to Batum at the top, he was many feet away. He look at the defense, and he executed exactly what he intended. There was nothing broken about the play.

  • JoeTeam

because reporters do Time out reports from what they hear because they have access to the huddle.

  • your son’s voltaire

acceptable is still unacceptable when its blatant mistreatment. BS is the lowest, then comes McHale. it’s no good if you’re just a tad better than McHale. i actually feel McHale is better than clifford

  • sws94

I’m not trying to talk down to you. When you go on attack, there’s a certain amount of force one needs to bring down the energy of that attack. We don’t have to see eye to eye. But make your points, I make mine, and they are just out there to ponder.

  • sws94

OK. If you feel that way, then he is to you and not to me. And that’s where we are on that.

  • JoeTeam

I am not stubborn. I am just disagreeing with you because you will not allow anyone to have an opinion but your own. Even if video shows it. Like I said, you can believe what you want, but you’ve gotten personal to attach Bolero and now me, and I am just calling you out. But you can be who you are, I’m not messing with you on that. You can believe it wasn’t a drawn play. That’s ok. But there are lots of people here who just want to watch the play and see it for what they see. Let them.

  • Phillycheese

So they complained when he was a decoy. Tonight he was main attraction and still the complaints comes unabated. Kinda tiring actually. I refuse to be dragged down by these posters’ misery. They can have others for company but not me. Coach drew up a great play and my fave player delivered.

  • JoeTeam

McHale is gone because he was always a lousy coach. He was just there winning because of incredible talent that was wasted. I’m glad McHale is not coaching a team.

  • LinMad

Or Cliff just wanted his guy to score the big bucket at the end. Like he drew up many times before with bad outcome. And Im saying Batum is his guy because Cliff was the guy to convince FO to bring Batum to the Hornets.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yes you did talk down everyone here who called out cliff and kemba.

  • LinMad

Lin was not a main attraction. In fact, I think most Lin fans watching the game were upset with how poorly he was being utilized. Even the Lin fans at the stadium didn’t show up until the end. Batum was actually the main attraction. If Lin didn’t make those 2 buckets or even that last bucket, Lin would have been zero. Not a hero.

  • sws94

Coach, coaches, team, MJ and many of us know Lin knocks down clutch shots. Not always, but enough that you trust in him to take them. He came up huge. And I think many of the fans in the arena think highly of Lin. Many of them have seen very good games or moments he’s provided for them, and a good amount of them in clutch situations.

  • your son’s voltaire

great points, but logic is actually on our side 😉

  • John Focker

IMHO, Cliff’s action to date has been influenced/limited by F/O politcs, if not economics. His true motives have yet to be revealed. Most prudent thing to do is to reserve judgment on both his honesty and his coaching capabilities until after the trade deadline.

Personally, I see Kemba and Cliff going on a collision course. After the 2OT victory over Kings, @TTNN illustrated how Kemba likes to break up plays, plays that CLIFFORD drew up and expected players to follow. Kemba thinks he’s beyond everyone, coach included. This kind of thinking only works with a very small group of players who have incredibly strong leverage (LeBron, Harden), and Kemba’s NOT (nor will he ever be) in that club.

Just a reminder, a prime Deron thought he was untouchable after Sloan resigned. And Kemba’s NOWHERE near prime Deron.

  • JoeTeam

I said that too, that he’s better than the other 2 for sure. But he also is incompetent in my book because there were so many winnable games. CHA were #2 behind CLE, then so many games with KW iso uncontrolled. Maybe we can say Cliff is stuck between FO and the court, but in the end, the team has to win for him to be deemed a competent coach. SO what is competent? You can decide. I think he’s not competent because he gets paid millions more than you or me.

  • sws94

    But he did.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin bailed out Batum. Lin bailed out Clifford for bad timeout play.

  • LinMad

and he ended up with 7 points. Not a main attraction. I think more than half the team has more points than Lin. If a main attraction is only 20 seconds worth of play out of the 48 minutes of playing, that’s a very odd main attraction. I would probably want a refund.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He hit that nail like lin drank that 3.

  • JoeTeam

I love it, this is what I’m feel in’ coach gave lin the ball, and for many reasons I don’t understand many fans won’t let that be how good it was. Yet it’s there in vid.

  • Phillycheese

Agreed, if Lin failed we would be having an entirely different discussion. But I’d rather he have the opportunity to fail than not to have the opportunity at all. No guts, no glory. Batum got the assist so he was a co-star in the end.

  • xeroid

Given the previous game where Hornets blew 2 in bound passes against Miami I think this time they might have given Lin as an option rather than just Kemba and Batum.

  • LinMad

agree with everything you said here.

  • JoeTeam

and was on the floor for what a 12-1 run just before the half. Cliff knows what Lin does, from practices to proven games.

  • your son’s voltaire

this is where i have a problem with the whole thing. i mean, c’mon. believe all you want but clifford ain’t setting Lin up to be the hero. he ain’t meant to be the main attraction. are you kidding me?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Wrong, She’s commentator not a reporter.

  • sws94

Maybe he’s #7 with the following qualities to be used strategically as the game calls. That’s how I see him using Lin most of the time.

  • your son’s voltaire

Batum had to pass it to Lin cus he ran into a wall on his drive. clifford ain’t done nothing

  • blubell
  • takemeback2reaganyears

Calling my facts wrong and beg to let it go? You laid out nothing but wishing. You said good night once, go sleep.

  • your son’s voltaire

you keep saying he, but Acbc is a lady

  • LinMad

Ya but what I’m saying is that I believe the opportunity came out of luck. Not because Cliff said “Lin you can have the ball now”.

  • Acbc

Think about what I said and remember the comment I made about going to Hornets sites and complain about Wakker. I said that its like going to a friends wedding and saying to everyone that your wife is prettier than the bride.

The point is this is a Lin site that favours Lin and we will always see it from his point of view. We will be protective of him like he’s the greatest groom ever. You come on and start talking down on him even when it’s obvious that we are all raw and upset about our point of view that Lin is being mistreated. You are in such an environment, like a friends wedding. Your wife can be miss America but don’t go putting down the bride, especially when people are already upset over the mistreatment of the star of the event.

You think you are telling the truth, but no one cares if your wife is miss universe. We are here to celebrate the bride.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Oops sorry

  • LinMad

I’m not saying anything negative about Lin. I’m talking about Cliff taking any credit for this win when he underutilized Lin and then all of a sudden out of luck/fluke, the poor guy who was underutilized got the ball and made something out of it.

  • Acbc

I’m a man, an old man lol

  • blubell

    A wise old man 🙂

  • your son’s voltaire

    yikes! my bad

  • Phillycheese

Maybe. If Wall had stuck to Lin like glue, then maybe Batum would have changed directions and look to drive or to pass to Cody for the roll. Remember Nic and Cody have huge chemistry on rolls to the basket. That is why I think Lin and Cody were options 1 and 1a. 1b would be Nic taking the shot. Given that Nic had been hot all game the fact that he did not take the shot says a lot about the trust in his teammates. But I think Lin’s fake confusion sold it pretty good, and they figured Nic would take the shot because he was feeling it all game. Remember, Linsanity was an opportunity that came out of luck.

  • JoeTeam

    Wow, just learned something:

This year, he is shooting more from the right corner than the left, small sample size:

    http://thesportsquotient.com/nba/2015/12/26/the-re-emergence-of-jeremy-lin

    Right corner 3: 38%
    http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/202391/stats/shooting/

    2013, left was more.
    http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/202391/stats/shooting/?Season=2013-14&SeasonType=Regular%20Season

Anyway, that’s a good shot for Lin when he gets it. Just not enough because KW is not passing to him in that corner by my reckoning.

  • LinMad

And many probably think the same thing we do. Why didn’t Lin get the ball more today?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

No one cared or asked you to take any fantasy responsibility

  • takemeback2reaganyears

So you’re wrong and I was right. Hehe

  • LinMad

    Amen to that!

  • JoeTeam

now you are just being snarky. A commentator is a reporter but you can be as snarky as you wish. I am losing more respect for you with every post, and you know I have up until tonight respected you.

  • John Focker

One point to note, Batum played a total of 44 min in regulation today, second longest this season, only behind the Jazz 2OT game.

Clearly showcasing that his “toe injury” is a non-issue.

  • Yascar

I legit don’t know why whether or not the last play was called for Lin is a huge issue. He made it. The Hornets won and are fighting for a playoff spot. Whether you like the Hornets or Cliff or Kemba or Batum or not (on this forum, probably not), getting into the playoffs will be a huge thing for Lin and his value and his 6th man chances. It can be nothing but good for Jeremy if he gets to the playoffs, surely we all know that. For that alone, can we not just set aside our differences?

It’s not very often we can all be happy about something on this board. And this might have been that one thing and we can’t even celebrate together. Whichever side you’re on, that’s just sad.

  • John Focker

Hope @your son’s voltaire hadn’t been having a secret crush on you. LOL

  • takemeback2reaganyears

A wise one is Acbc, he is the one you should take advice from.

  • JoeTeam

you’re ‘facts’ are opinions, and I am calling you out for trying to shove your opinions down people’s throats and then getting personal with people, both bolero and me. I’ve seen this before, and I defended you. Why would you want this to become something so big? Let it go, you could be wrong. So can others, or me. It’s just a forum, and we disagree.

  • sws94

I agree. I thought he had nothing, not even a good communicator. Bickerstaff is much more competent from what I’m seeing of him and from what he says. He had good things to say about Lin also.

  • LinMad

I think that fake confusion was actually genuine. He was lost at the play cause I think someone wasn’t in the right spot.

  • JoeTeam

you know, I see lots of 3 pt plays drawn up in the situation you are being so mocking toward. That play was brilliant, and he drew up a great play. One other poster even noted there was a 3rd option for Lin to drive baseline to draw rim protection and give it to KW for an open 3 on the other side. Let other people be smart too, and you will find ways to marvel at others. I do … that was a great play, with intent form Cliff as reported, and with intent from Batum as executed, and with amazing excellence from Lin as shot.

  • LinMad

Oh trust me, I can like Batum and Kemba and Cliff if they utilized/played with Lin correctly. I liked Batum for passing it to Lin on that last play. I don’t think he would have had that huge opportunity if it wasn’t for Batum changing his mind.

  • Acbc

Yeah, I’m defensive of Lin. What’s troubling is that you are not! That’s your problem, you don’t take it personally. I do. It bugs me so much I can’t even watch his games becuase I worry he’s going to get hurt for nothing, for a coach that mistreats him. It is personal or we wouldn’t care so much, we wouldn’t wear our emotions on our sleeves. When people hurt Lin, I hurt for him as do a lot of his fans on this site.

  • JoeTeam

by the way, are you calling me stupid? That’s pretty mean lol. Good luck with that …

  • bolero

he was there for the offense or decoy. They took him out again and put back MKG..

  • blubell

Lets not add fuel to the fire. It’s obvious you two don’t see eye to eye. Move on.

  • Acbc

That’s too bad becuase I have a crush on Blubell. But don’t let my wife find out or I’ll be banned.

  • JoeTeam

On this, I was with others to think – game over for Lin. I had thought Lin’s great run before the half would give Cliff an indication that he should play Lin in the end game. But with Lin out at about 6 mins, I was basically done. Then I saw Lin in again, and it got interesting. My interpretation was that’s better than 20 seconds. So it went very well, and that’s what was good about tonight. Otherwise, it’s what, low minutes, low points, another loss. It was ok, not perfect, but a great way to end a frustrating coach’s set of decisions.

That’s all we got to get through this. I think this year is harder than last because they are trying to win. I would say the best Lin year was 2nd in HOU, coming out of ASG when Lin’s shots were so falling.

  • JoeTeam

may the force be with you.

  • Phillycheese

Linsanity – vs Raptors. Score tied, Lin could have shot a two for a higher percentage but Calderon gave him space. Three for the win.

  • sws94

    Okey dokey. Thanks.

  • sws94

Fair points. He’s handled some basketball situations incompetently. And if you get paid to do a job well, you are under scrutiny to perform well. Especially in entertainment which is what the NBA is. But it is competition on the highest level as well. Overall, he has a lot to learn but I guess I think he has potential and I like his people skills.

  • LinMad

I don’t know what kind of offensive threat Lin is when he only shoots 5 times the whole game. If Cliff is so high about Lin taking the big shots, he should at least warm him up for the big shots. I just don’t buy the Lin/MKG substitutions for offense/defense in the final minutes. I think it could have been for other reasons like defense cause MKG wasn’t a rebounding machine this game like he was last game. It was a fluke that Lin got the ball to shoot it. In fact his first bucket in the 4th was after a long sequence of watching others doing their thing: when he brought the ball up half court, passed it to Kemba, Kemba uses a Zeller screen and shoots it but misses, the ball goes to Marvin Williams which he passes to Batum instead of Lin who were both opened outside the perimeter, then Batum drives dishes it to Zeller who can’t get a grip of the ball and Zeller passes it out to Lin where he does the layup. So if you look at the entire sequence, he was like 4th-5th option on offense. Then he gets subbed out for MKG like that was planned by Cliff or something. I call BS cause if Kemba made it first or Zeller made it second, or any of the other players who touched the ball before Lin did, Lin wouldn’t have had anything to do with the offense.

  • JoeTeam

    ok.

  • bolero

    decoy then?

  • John Focker

What happens in JLinPortal stays in JLinPortal.

  • LinMad

How was he decoy in that sequence? He was just a guy to pass the ball to Kemba and watch the play happen and then play defense after. It just happen that the first 3 offensive options weren’t able to convert so Lin took it in his own hands to score with little time left on the clock. 1st option was Kemba who missed the shot, 2nd option was Batum who decided to facilitate instead of shoot, 3rd option was Zeller who couldn’t catch the ball so 4th option was Lin but in a way I think Lin was even thinking about passing it too cause I think he was only in their for defense.

  • sws94

Doesn’t seem like some want to set differences aside. But that’s what I’m in the mood for more and more. Any response to your post should be about setting differences aside, not taking the side of the debate.

I saw Lin have a game not up to his standards, coach brought him in crunch time and he delivered regardless of circumstances. I’m celebrating with you.

  • LinMad

nope, but Cliff may have put him on the court for defense only and his first bucket in the 4th, it took a missed Kemba shot and bad connection between Batum and Zeller for Lin to get the ball in his hands to do his drive/layup. He’s being underutilized on offense when he’s 4th option and there’s not reason to believe he isn’t when he only took 5 shots today.

  • bolero

MKG can do that…pass the ball and play D..but Lin is a threat and can attract 2 o 3 defenders. anyway at the end good thing happened.

  • LinMad

Most of that sequence, he did not draw anyone. At least out side the perimeter he did not. Not even on the last play. He’s not a decoy, he’s more of a hidden gem.

You can’t be an offensive threat when you only shot 3 times before the 4th qtr. If Cliff was smart, he should have let Lin shoot it more in the 4th quarter. They weren’t taking Lin seriously on offense. Lin could have just attacked and attacked. And still i think those 2 last shots Lin did in the 4th was from luck and chance. Not from mastermind coaching.

  • Hope

Griffin to 76ers? Lin to 76ers?

  • sws94

He replaced MKG for offense. Lin wasn’t on for defense. He was on for offense.

  • TTNN

I think Lin is one of the option in that play and he end up being the option the play end up with, so really don’t need to think too much out of it.

  • sport

Yes give credit to Batum for doing that because if the 1st option was Kemba he would’ve chucked a miss for sure!

  • LinMad

I think he wasn’t given the chance to shoot it more or play make. He wasn’t having a game up to Cliff’s standards and I think Cliff’s standards were to let Batum run the offense this game and Lin just play defense most of the time and observe on offense.

He shot well, 60%. He just didn’t shoot enough. It’s called underutilized. It would have been a much different story if he got to run more plays and shoot the ball 20 times instead of 5. It’s not that Lin is inconsistent. It’s that the role he’s given by the coach is inconsistent. We saw what Lin can do when he has the ball in his hands. We saw it during the Cavs game. We saw it a few other times in the season.

  • deesee5

    Interesting…..

  • sport

Probably why Cliff didn’t mention anything about the last plays in his post game interview.

  • sws94

I think poster wanted to not rehash the debate, but be happy in the results together that Lin delivered the shots in the clutch.

  • sport

Question is does Cliff have that kind of authority to start who he wants at any position, or does he have to follow what MJ wants or get fired? From what I’ve seen, Cliff is another puppet coach like Mchale following politics and propping up the “stars”.

  • Phillycheese

That last play is why Cliff likes having three playmakers on the floor at the same time. There is no game planning from the defense since they don’t know from which direction the shot will come from. Batum had like three guys drawn towards him, and he managed to pick off two of them. Wall made it through to semi-contest the shot but it was too late. There was lots of time. I was also the one that postulated that if Wall managed to close out Lin in the corner, he was to take it baseline, force Kemba’s man to defend the rim and depending on the speed of recovery, Lin could have take the shot or passed to an open KW. There were lots of weakside optionality in that play. But you needed smart playmakers to make it work. Coach is letting Batum facilitate and not Kemba which is a good sign.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I would feel horrible if someone dumped me to the bench right after I helped the team defeat the conference champion as the starting PG. There were times that Lin was used incredibly to fill in the team’s need for a win. He had to play 40 mins against NY and 50 mins against SAC to will the team into victory. Then he played 22 mins Lakers and 32 mins against Cavaliers. Then his minutes was reduced 16 minutes against MIA and 23 minutes against the Wizards. This kind of minutes management really is inconsistent. Lin just exploded every time he had the minutes to get into his rhythm.

Today, I doubt if he really got the chance to get into rhythm. He only took 5 shots making 3 of them with 2 from beyond. Yet he held the key of winning the game. He made a drive in a broken play and then sank a crucial 3 pointer to hold the Wizards at bay. Yet, he’s still not given enough credit for his contributions to this team.

It takes some guts to limit him to 16 minutes right after he led the team to overwhelm the Cavaliers as the starting PG. Well, the team lost. Today, the team learned to use him better and gave him 23+ minutes for Lin to win the game for them. I don’t think Lin can get into his rhythm by taking 5 shots. What’s his role?

There must be a team who desperately need a PG like Jeremy Lin in NBA. If Calderon can get to be a starting PG in NBA, Jeremy should be given the ball to shine or else I would give up watching NBA and switch to Euro-basketball.

  • JoeTeam

I like what you said, it is something cool to think about – all those options. Way better than in earlier games, out of TO, with … KW ISO. It was great when Daniels called KW out, as that let everyone know it’s ok to rebel against a PG who is not leading the team right. Much stronger results than the Swaggy P complaints on Kobe.

  • james brown

and now Daniels is comfy sitting the bench!LOL

  • grover chang

Very well put. Lin has incredible endurance, perseverance, and love. He is a special person. The Bible verses he tweets let us know he doesn’t get his strength on his own.

  • james brown

i like this one…”even if there is trade scenario requiring to downplay his stats to minimize interest”

  • james brown

“even if there is trade scenario requiring to downplay his (JLIN) stats to minimize interest” from Psalm point of view…this can be possible during this trade dates right now.

  • John Focker

If it was only Lin, then one could interpret Lin keep his head down a thousand ways. But tonight it was both MKG and Lin, and to lesser extents Lamb and Kam, so yeah, cold-casing seems almost a certainty.

  • John Focker

Been harping about trade for almost a week now, been laughed off the soapbox, and then ignored the way Lin was ignored when he walked over to greet Wizard players tonight. Many are stuck with the notion of “Kemba’s untouchable”. If anything, judging from how hard CHA’s been showcasing Kemba and he still didn’t crack top 10 in ASB, Kemba’s closer to being undesirable rather than untouchable.

The way I see it, Kemba’s been coddled for 4.5 years and has done exactly jack squat for the club, and MJ’s patience ain’t infinite. Kemba needs the Jordan brand more rather than the other way around, and with Al’s contract expiring CHA no longer needs to humor Excel Sports Management.

  • grover chang

Preach on brother !!!! Laying the Truth !!!

  • zxcvb

Kemba is a proven awful PG. Every season, it’s the same thing. His FG%s tumble with every passing month and his volume chucking, lack of defense and basic basketball IQ lead Charlotte to a losing record.

When will MJ and Cho wake up? Even as a SG, Lin has averaged 18p/5a/4r on 46/42/82 shooting in 11 starts. In his lone start as PG, he did what Kemba has never done in 20 tries: beat Lebron’s super team. And Lin did it in style with 24/8/6 in just 32m! Unless they trade Kancerous Kemba, this franchise is staying in the toilet.

The sad, scary thing is that Hornets coaches and fans would rather Kemba keep them in the cellar (like he has every year of his career), than have Lin lead them to wins and playoffs. Anything but the Asian guy…

  • sport

Truly hope you’re right but if all this is “showcasing” why showcase Kemba at Lin’s “expense”. At this rate and this mistreatment Lin will NOT stay at all!! Hornets have shown they’re all in on Batum starting him all season! If they valued Lin at all he would’ve started since 1st game of the season just like Batum! All it would take was moving Batum to his original SF spot and playing Lin as SG or vice-versa!

  • sport

Griffin leaving Clippers after keeping Deandre Jordan from leaving last off season? I highly doubt that. Of course if 76ers with MDA and Colangelo can pair Griffin with Lin that’d be a dangerous duo right there!

  • grover chang

Lin is so funny in time outs. He is like staying outside the huddle, chilLINg, Getting something to drink. Being Mr. Cool with his cool hair. He is like,”No need to listen, I know where my spot in the corner is.”

  • sport

LOL actually I’m pretty sure that’s the part where he was told he’s taken out for MKG’s so called defensive purpose and was mad no? So he didn’t need to listen since he doesn’t have to? Or he could really just be legitimately thirsty and dehydrated?

  • John Focker

I’m surprised that you’re asking the question. If it ain’t at the expense of Jeremy, he would outshine Kemba so badly the Hornets wouldn’t stand a chance off-loading his 12M/yr.

Also, my inner Optimist Prime speaking, there’s a chance Hornets will move Jeremy to starting PG once Kemba’s gone (assuming some other team gets duped or does CHA a favor, taking in cash and/or 1st round pikc), and F/O doesn’t wanna make it look like Jeremy ran Kemba out of town. The plan may be to let Kemba’s ISO statpadding burn his own bridges with fans, painting Jeremy as the victim (that he is) being opppreseed despite playing great vs. Cavs.

I was a bit reluctant to type this out, lest people here think I’m more delusional than I already appear to be, but since you popped the question…

  • Barry Allen

Too late. If that was the plan it severely backfired.

  • sport

That does sound pretty out there. Well it won’t be long to know whether Hornets will trade anyone before Feb deadline. If Kemba doesn’t get traded then
we all know these antics were just to suppress Lin from outshining. Remember Daniels? He spoke out about Kemba going off from the play and look at where’s been after that winning shot? Benched with even less minutes than Lamb.

  • KL

I’ve been pretty much on the fence this whole season. It hasn’t changed. Here are some reasons why.

    1. The situation is better than past 3 seasons, but only barely so.

It can be argued that Lin had better stats, role and minutes in Houston for those 2 seasons. However, we must not forget that Lin was on the downward trajectory in Houston. In Charlotte he is on the upwards rise. The media narrative is that Lin has been rejuvenated. Whether it’s true or not, as long as it sells and people believe it, it is good for Lin’s career.

    2. Clifford likes Lin but he LOVES his job.

Clifford trusts Lin and knows how to help him maximise his contributions. However, Kemba seems to have direct communications with MJ (according to reports). Also Cho has staked his reputation on the line with Kemba’s contract. No coach can survive a dispute with a player who can step over his head so easily. So Lin is marginalised. Clifford is very careful in praising Lin because he knows how Kemba, (as well as Isaiah Thomas and many other players) feel about Lin’s popularity.

    3. Cliff is a good Xs and Os coach. Pity no one is running his plays (except Lin maybe).

The consistent pattern of Kemba ignoring instructions and being burned on defence without being held accountable means Clifford has lost the team. This has allowed Cliff’s knowledge to be used on rare occasions only.

    4. I really don’t know what the future holds. I think Lin was right that Clifford trusts him and is knowledgeable. But Lin probably didn’t expect so many problems with Kemba. Lin was banking on rejuvenating his career after the Lakers fiasco and maybe it will work out.

I admire Lin’s resolve and I think that once Lin finds a real team that make him THE PG, he is going to the Finals at least!

  • Dorothy

agreed with most of it, except you gave too much credit to Clifford

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • KL

I have lost respect for Clifford due to him caving in completely to POLITICS. Still I can’t deny he has some knowledge.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I have been quite negative about Wally Walker, and you may call him Kemba. He has given impressive stats but the team has kept on losing and he keeps on playing according to his own personal agenda as if nothing has happened. Share the ball, Wally. There are lots of talents that can make this a better team. You’re the stumbling rock keeping the team from making progress. I hate that Kemba!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

There are people who are afraid to have Lin pairing up with MKG because they’re almost a match in heaven in their running game. Ask their latest victim, LeBron James. One thing that I’m not aware of is the coach and GM seems to be afraid to have them played together. The team chemistry is off the chart and they could defend and complement each other so well that they blow the number one team in the Eastern Conference off the court.

It’s just too bad that they are exposed too early and the FO seems to call a halt to that.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I would give credit to Batum who knows that the best choice is to pass rather than take a shot to be blocked or at least fiercely contested. A catch and shoot open shot has a much better percentage than a contested shot. Batum plays according to his basketball sense.

If Batum was aware of that sooner, he would already have his triple double for this game.

Anyway, if Lin missed, it would be Jeremy’s fault. If Lin makes the shot, Batum would definitely receive the credit and the praise of being unselfish. Batum’s presence really have made Kemba Walker redundant.

  • donsmacau

This organization and coach are the ones who allow Kemba to play his style of play without reigning him in – they are the true culprits. Kemba is just an accessory to the crime because it’s not easy for a leopard to change its spots, he’s likely been playing his me-first basketball since high school.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

If Lin makes the shot, Batum gets his assist; he has already had 8 dimes. If Lin missed, Batum did his job. Either way, he couldn’t loss. So why taking a contested shot. Passing to Lin makes all the sense.

  • adele

    I hope🙏

  • adele

Just like Ed Davis. Why are these people seem to have a hidden agenda against Lin not to play with a good player that match his talents.

  • yellowshadow

does anyone else think that cliff/fo is trying to ice lin on purpose so that he wont get the sixth man of the year award? lin being SMOTY would obviously boost his value even more than it is now, and they are not looking forward to losing someone who is constantly their best player on the team or having to pay him big money. just my 2cent because it is extremely odd to me that someone can excel so much and get so little in return – batum hasn’t done any better than lin has and batum is guaranteed starter and main ball facilitator.

  • BobbyH

I like the way Lin ignored it like it never happened.

  • donsmacau

Idiocy like that belongs outside of the sphere of social sensibility let alone a NBA game./

  • BobbyH

Personally I don’t think the last two clutch plays by Lin last game was by design.

No question about the first one. For the 3pt dagger from Lin that sealed the game, if you were the coach, you go with hot hands (in this case Batum or Walker). If you noticed, Lin handed the ball to Batum and then strided slowly back to the usual familiar corner with his back facing Batum. Didn’t you feel strange if this is a play for Lin, Lin should at least moved a bit quicker to the set position waiting for the ball while with eyes on Batum’s move (not back), anticipating that the ball might come any time?

Anyway, as JoeTeam pointed out, it was a win by Lin’s clutch play. That’s good enough.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Of course it’s so great that lin hit those two shots but the discussion was about the treatment lin got from this coach after every good game.

  • Spot

Positive: Jeremy proved once again that can carry on an average team making them play like All Stars.

Negative: Walker is their star and won’t let Jeremy shine in his place.

Be ready to pack our baggages. Again. So sorry for Jeremy. Pray that he’ll find his team soon 🙏

this is not to say that’s not offensive or whatever.

  • donsmacau

I think he sat his butt down after JLIN ignored him and thought, wow that was my ” I just called JLIN an Oriental on ESPN moment” and felt foolish.

  • mcd27

Yeah, I get why some Asian people wouldn’t like this. But I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Jeremy bow back or do other things with his teammates similar to the bow. So I’m sure Kemba would not have done it if it would upset Jeremy. J-Lin is obviously passionate about his heritage and I’m pretty sure his team mates like to support him..
So I get it, but I’d have to disagree on some of your points….

  • donsmacau

If Kemba watches film of JLIN and Parsons from years back you might have a point.

Cant recall any footage/discussion of a ritual greeting like that with JLIN this season.

  • mcd27

Yeah, I’ve even seen him do it a couple times with past Knick teammates too. Not sure about this year but yeah like I said it would definitely rub me the wrong way if I continuously saw his teammates pull stuff like this without him reciprocating but it seems to be something he does with his teammates throughout the years..

  • donsmacau

Question is though, why is Kemba so selfish and now mean-spirited?
    – We know his gameplay that’s been well documented for his entire BB career, facilitated by his Orgs/Coaches though.
    – Could be jealous toward JLIN in accomplishing what Kemba could not in up to 23 attempts against Lebron, was reason why he didn’t publicly at least grant congratulations to the Cavs win.
    – Now mocking in a racist manner, JLIN after a bigtime shot.
Lots of questions about Kemba’s character and motives abound these days.

  • NONONO

I have to disagree with you on this. I am Lin’s Asian fun. I do not see that offends Lin. Kemba is not that type of person.

  • donsmacau

Why is it that when JLIN shoots 60% from the floor (3/5) that up until the end of game, JLIN is criticized as having an “OFF Game” – if he was 3/12 FGs I could countenance Off Game but when a man tries to do the little things to help the team and efficiency wise is superb to receive that sort of criticism is odd.

Additionallly, Why is it that the Cavs game hero, MKG when he gets ZERO rebounds last (and 3 rebounds in two games) gets no criticism whatsoever.

  • donsmacau

You see what JLIN wants you to see, he is a diplomat, you will never know the real story until years later if at all.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

What you don’t see is the dirty politic inside this organization which carried out by this head coach. Lin is the hard nose defender and he is the best of the team. Putting in KMG was good but keeping kemba in was fraud.

  • donsmacau

And what percentage would you like JLIN to shoot 60% seems not enough for you.

    Do you want 100% shooting.

    Ok.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Acbc was right, you praised your wife and bashing the bride in her wedding This is jlin forum, sws.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Still refusing to see Clifford is a snake. Kmg had zero rebound last night, what defense?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

The bible twitt last night tells all.

  • NONONO

I am not sure Lin cares about the 6th man award. But for sure Clifford has treated him no much better than BS. The only difference is Horners does not want to tank (yet) and Clifford knows Lin is one of most reliable players in the crunch time. He toke a chance and subbed lin in last 20 secs, they lost. He subbed Lin in last 2 mins, they won. Clifford do the same thing almost all season – only use Lin when they might lose the game.

  • donsmacau

The next team JLIN goes to, JLIN will be the ball dominant starting franchise point guard but in his unselfish, teamplay nature his entire team will be involved in WINs.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Stop protecting and excusing the very people who used lin then throw him under the bus.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

No not any team he goes on. That’s a bad excuse for ball hog kemba

  • donsmacau

Yet the team WON – See here is where hypocrisy creeps into the discussion,

When a teammate like Kemba shoots terribly for 4Qs and teamplay keeps them in, but last couple min. where Coach has ball in Kemba’s hands gets the last shot everyone said wasn’t KEMBA GREAT!

Not calling you a hypocrite, words can be hypocritical though.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

23 min of misused means nothing. Those 5 points were not just huge, those point were the only to seal the win and win was the only thing matter

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Not from you.

  • donsmacau

“He [Kemba] gets a lot of criticism from Hornets fans”
Do you truly believe you have been part of the group that has given Kemba his due share of criticism as you purport?

Or do you mostly DEFEND Kemba?

  • BobbyH

The discussion that only the players in the locker room can verify. Opinions just being opinions.

I think Clifford wants MKG play like Lin + PJ on defense so Batum and Kemba could careless about defense and use all energy on scoring. It works if you only consider Kemba and Batum’s stats, it fails if you see the games results.

Lin final 2 baskets seemed to be ignored by coach and even bashed by fans.

Lin got a block on John Wall under the basket, but the score keeper didn’t credit him for it, it was just called a missed layup shot by Wall, but it was clearly tipped on the way up.

  • Rick Johnson

    Bashed by fans?

  • heart

Since Cliff didn’t give any mentions or kudos to Lin, we can use deductive intelligence/common sense to know that Cliff didn’t design that winning shot for Lin. I think he would take credit for it if he did. Until Lin or someone reveals the truth later, this is my take from last night game:
    1. NB was the designated offense initiator for almost the entire Wiz game.
    2. This game was catered to NB and KW to have good stats and to get a win under their leadership.
    3. NB knew the MIA game was lost bc of the final 2TOs by KW, though Cliff blamed the bench for the loss.
    4. NB was the point for Wiz game and was having a good game, he didn’t want to lose another one.
    5. Last shot was for NB to take or pass. NB decided to pass when he saw 3 defenders blocking his way.
    6. We saw Zeller ran to the open paint to receive the pass for a dunk (2pts), but NB made the right play and has already decided in his mind to pass to the open Lin since he was the closest to him. NB didn’t want another TO at the crucial time.
    7. Lin was NOT expecting the pass but was calm and collective and nailed the 3 bc of his Clutch Gene.
    8. Lin was not happy the whole night. His demeanor & non-smiling face after a made layup (2pts) & a dagger (3pts) told us that he can perform even better under pressure in crunch time if given a chance.
    9. Remember, Lin was iced out almost the entire game by teammates and Cliff’s sub-pattern was not conducive to give him any kind of rhythm. Cliff even chewed him out at the end of 3Q for a phantom foul.
    10. After Lin’s made the crucial corner 3ptr on the court, we saw Zeller celebrated w/arms out, NB pumped his fist, and MW raised his opened arms, but no reaction from KW.
In conclusion: Lin just needs an opportunity to perform. He has proven to be a clutch player and a starting caliber pg. The more they suppress the more he will shine. Lin posted a verse last night, Psalm 16:5, to reassure himself that God is his portion and his cup. God holds his lot! Lin will be victorious in God’s timing.

  • Uh-Oh

    Totally on point! Well said.

  • Uh-Oh

  • Rick Johnson

Bible quote usually means Lin not happy with what’s going on no matter how much people try to sugar coat it.

  • sws94

OK, thanks. The officials miss things a lot (too much) with Lin.

  • Whitman Lam

Troy Daniels doesn’t get any playing time after Lamb came back into the rotation. Daniels hit the biggest shot of the season for the Hornets.

  • Spot

    Agree

  • Lefon Jang

You have a point there. But you have to understand our involvement with Jlin is different from that of any NBA players. At least from my stand point JLin’s journey has become a manifestation of my emotion and allow me to vicariously experience what he’s been through. When he’s been mistreated I admit it bothers me. When Kemba is the PG he’s the only PG, but when Lin is the PG so is everyone else. From a basketball perspective you know what you’re talking about and you have been right in many instances. But this is not all about Xs and Os is it? It’s about how we want Lin to be treated in a way that we want to be treated. Why is it so hard to believe that the last play was designed for Lin? Perhaps it’s because history has proven otherwise.

  • xeroid

He may have played 23 minutes, but most is on defense, he didn’t have touch of the ball for long stretches and standing in the corner when the ball is on the other direction. From his demeanor he wasn’t even attempting to cut when he knew the play was already set for someone else. Even when he was playing PG for the second unit, he passed to someone else and immediately the person he passed to either shoot as Lamb and Hawes did and missed. There were no ball movement as everyone is in a hurry to get some points before the starters came back in.

  • cdblue10

And facial expression tells it all.

  • donsmacau

    Thoughtful informative post.

JLIN off to bigger and better things in the offseason.

  • joyce ward

Ok, everybody calm down. I watched the last play of the game, batum drew 2 defenders to get lin to hit that 3, so it wasn’t a fluke. batum had the ball and Walls and another player tried to double team and Batum actually screened Wall out and got the ball to lin. Even dell curry said that it was a simple good play and that wall fell asleep on lin. I think what is happening is that somebody is going to be traded and Cliff knows it and might not be happy about it. You guys also have to remember that lin is a $2 million dollar player, not a $10-12 million dollar player so Clifford is using lin as he needs him. I think Cliff has tons of faith in lin and he knows that lin can run the point very well, but he needs to use him for his defensive prowess. I noticed that Dell curry said that Lin/MKG were going to switch out on that last play for defense, but lin was somehow inserted back in. Also, Lin was really mad last night, and he says when he’s mad he doesn’t perform well. I think lin was mad about everybody not doing what they were suppose to be doing. My take on everybody in 2nd unit trying to run point was strictly trade bait. BTW, not defending cliff’s actions, merely trying to figure out the method to his madness. I think when lin led that surge to beat LBJ, that changed everything for this team. As the poster below stated that there are a lot of politics being played out to get to their end game. Also I noticed that put up a portrait of lin in the Charlotte museum. So who knows.

  • sport

You sure Lin wasn’t mad because he was bench for almost the entire game? Or maybe he knows who will be traded and is unhappy about it? Anyway for sure something’s not right whenever he’s posting bible verses.

  • heart

    Thanks.

  • joyce ward

I would be surprised if lin was traded, but i don’t think that is the case. Cliff has made sure that he has been woven into the starting lineup. Lin plays most the starters now and that is not by accident. I think lin is the dark about what is going on and of course it is giving him pause. Cliff is a defensive coach, and he likes lin’s defense because lin is a smart defender, and plus lin’s contract is cheap.

  • joyce ward

Also, people that bible verse lin tweeted seemed to me that he was reminding himself that to keep the focus on God and not the game and to remain content in whatever situation he he is in.

  • JoeTeam

Lin’s kids will have a Charlotte drawl?

  • joyce ward

I also think Kemba walker is a nice guy, but I also think he is a whiner and spolied. Big Al is gone because, i doubt if they renew his contract. They have had the regime of Walker/Big Al for a long time and it has not worked for them. I think MJ might be ready for a change. I think the if you insert lin with the starters, we can beat anybody in the eastern conference. Walker is the cog in the middle of the wheel.

  • joyce ward

LOL,. I think the fans really like lin in Charlotte. When he mad those two shots last night, somebody posted on their snapchat that the crowd was going wild for lin.

  • JoeTeam

sometimes, when you decide to win, you ge serious and you don’t high five everyone when there is still a chance to lose. As it was, they traded scoring for 2 more runs. I have not problem with Lin not celebrating for that reason alone.

And then there is the crazy substitutions. If you want Lin in for last 2 mins, give him steady play for the intensity of it. I could see a case where say a big fouled out and you wanted to substitute the big for D and go small for O, but it wasn’t like a big fouled out. So ya, I also think the O/D substitution was not a good choice and possibly a reason for Lin to be intense also.

  • JoeTeam

I disagree on MKG being best defender. For one thing, he’s rusty and out of game shape. Also, JLin does amazing things to orchestrate the D and set the stage up for interior D that most people cannot see because that part is a moving dance and one needs live action D experience to catch that.

  • Dan Ang

Nice, crowd going wild. You can bet that powers that be are seeing, hearing, and talking about how to translate that to winning and dollars. Lin can put CHA on the map and all it takes is some strong moves and all changes.

  • BobbyH

There is also another possibility that Clifford directed Lin not taking over as PG. 50 games played I never saw BF1 was so disorganized for the past 2 games. I have to say something is going on.

  • cdblue10

I will reserve my take on this pic,it could be a sign of respect, just happy Lin made that shot or something else.

OK. But why would Cliff do that? How is it smart to have a rudderless ship in the 2nd unit in a close game? Especially seeing what Lin did on Wednesday. What would be the strategic reason for that?

  • JoeTeam

To a chinese (me), I would not want that kind of salutation. But Lin has done the kung fu handshake and in his posse, on the team, that might be something fun they do. So yes there are lots of ways to take that good and questioning. Just kind of cool to see, after the game winner shot.

  • joyce ward

I don’t think Kemba meant any disrespect to lin. I think that was his way of saying good job. People say and do stupid things all the time trying to be clever and sometimes it gets misinterpreted.

  • sport

JLin used to do the bow handshake with Harden and Parsons too. Don’t think he’d be offended.

  • joyce ward

That’s what I think too. It was obvious to me that Cliff wanted lin playing SG in this unit too.

  • joyce ward

How is lin suppose to fix something that the coach has told the players to do. Clearly lin was not playing PG for the 2nd unit. Cliff kept him at SG. If lin had been designated to play PG, the ball would have been in his hands.

  • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

I’m okay with that. It’s cool to me.

  • joyce ward

    Trade bait for Hawes/Lamb

  • sws94

I understand and thanks for expressing this so eloquently. I think Lin is strong, perseveres, makes the most out of working in a culture (NBA) that is not really who he is fundamentally. Lin’s opportunities come, it is frustrating that after so many seasons he hasn’t been given them consistently as he rises time after time so why can’t people see that and put him in a place to keep using them? Well, because it is the NBA and they choose others ahead of him but when they really need someone to either provide clutch plays or step in and not fall off if the chosen ones can’t go, they know Lin can. That they know Lin can gives me satisfaction (not total, but to an extent).

  • sws94

I don’t mind either of them traded. Just hope not Marv. I think Marv and Lin share a similar team professionalism and get along well so I hope not Marv. Lamb and Hawes can go.

  • Phoenix Rising

But we are talking about the 2 games…

  • sws94

I agree. It was awkward, a case of Kemba showing ignorance over bad intentions.

  • joyce ward

I think possibly Hawes,Lamb and maybe Kemba. They need a big man, and they were looking at Monroe, who is a rim protector and he can score. The Bucs are going to want more than these two, especially if they are trying to get rid of their PG Michael Carter Williams. I don’t think Batum will stay if Kemba is still there. Kemba is the cog in the middle of the wheel in that starting unit. Batum is no really a leader on the team because he goes with whatever Kemba is doing. If Kemba starts to iso, so does he. I noticed that when they beat the Cavs, Lin had everybody involved. The bigs were playing physical under the basket and Batum was passing the ball very well. Also MKG was able to do his job.

  • joyce ward

Cliff is trying to protect his decision to have MJ hire him. Batum has not lived up to Cliff’s hype and he knows it. If they don’t offer him a big contract, he will walk. I just don’t think MJ will do that.

  • JoeTeam

I believe Lin just recently handle a switch to get Kevin Durant pretty well, IIRC.

Yep, I think the trading O/D was causing more problems because it isn’t like a big fouled our or a typical end-game where people have practiced for it. It was a tight winnable game.

What was good was KW was not involved in the finishing plays, as he proved last game and time and again that he’s not good to win except yeah, sometimes you do win with ISO.

  • JoeTeam

me too if it was my friends, it’d be fun/funny. So that also might show that KW and JLin are good, not sure.

  • JoeTeam

I guess I wrote it incomplete – I actually think this is a sign that they are good or that KW is happy for Lin. What I meant was I wouldn’t really like that kind of address from someone who was not in my tight sphere because bowing in Asia is a subtle thing, like who goes through the door first, and there are a lot of social implications whether you blow back deeply or slightly, go through the door first or insist last. So, getting it from a westerner would just make me try to figure all that out and in the end, I’d have to say … oh, he doesn’t understand. But ya, for my friends, it’s all fun in many ways.

  • JoeTeam

They aren’t consistent so far, so yeah, do something. But it would be great to trade KW. How possible to you see that?

  • sws94

Yes, the Cavs game was one of the best played by the Hornets. And Lin was a huge reason for that. I was high from that game.

  • joyce ward

Batum is French, and he has an ileitis attitude. I work with some French people and that how they are. Batum knows that he is not as good as he thinks he is. I think that is the problem that he had with Portland, so they let him walk. Lin has played PG/SG/SF. There is nobody that is as versatile as lin. One of the reasons that Lin’s playing time has been so erratic in the last couple of games was because of the win of LBJ team.. They want to sign him for cheap and not have other teams have a shot at him. I am sure Charlotte has a plan.

  • JoeTeam

I never think JLin tweets Bible verses when he’s upset. I think he does it to calm fans down or to give them his enlightenment. JLin’s character doesn’t allow him to go public with private concerns. He’s too smart and faithful to be the social net maven you know what I mean.

  • donsmacau

not too long ago? Did you notice the jersey, this 4 years ago

  • sws94

They need to be careful. Don’t insult Lin. Pay him a respectable salary as he came to you for cheap and is playing like on a level of a high-salary player.

  • JoeTeam

LOL, I know it was 2.4.12. That’s an iconic bow. Only, I remembered the shot coming form up court and could not find it in youtube.

  • joyce ward

I think the realization to MJ/Choi was when lin led that beat down of LBJ. Lin used his smarts to beat them Lin fired up the whole team. An offensive coach would take them because they are shooters. Hawes is a big but plays like a SG.

  • JoeTeam

relax, I brought it up because I am not ok with people except my posse doing this, but I get it and from the other’s context, they are trying. To me it’s like saying we are orientals when you don’t use the word occidental in your speech, etc. It’s just awkward, but maybe KW doesn’t hate JLin for winning, that’s the point. Maybe KW is a good guy and he just plays too much ISO, that’s what we know for sure.

  • sws94

Or stretch 4. Either way absolutely. Lin was magnificent and really, that was the Linsanity spirit. That it was in front of MJ who beating LBJ means so much to made it even sweeter. MJ was up and animated when Lin made 2 huge shots in crunch time.

  • joyce ward

I think they will once they do what they need to do. I am sure MJ was puzzled as to what happened when they lost to the Heat. They almost lost last night, if lin had not made those two clutch shots. They lost to the Heat because Batum/Kemba went into their iso mode. Spoelstra put Whiteside on the bench to stop lin.

  • donsmacau

Be nice for JLIN to retort to Melo, Kemba when they do that:

“Waz goin down bro, beeaitch slapped that mu-fo ball like wernt nothin”

  • sws94

    No, it wouldn’t.

  • donsmacau

And why not? Explain to me the difference between what Kemba did and what I wrote?

  • joyce ward

I agree, but also I think it is for himself also.

  • sws94

Spo was smart. I was expecting traps and such and he puts in a rim protector on a mission. Whiteside had 4 fouls I think. Had he started he would have fouled out and Lin may have fouled him out. That was a brilliant move by Spo.
