G48 CHA @LAL Game Thread

The Hornets tried to come back against the Blazers with MKG 1st game back (impressive 13pts/7rebs) after overcoming shoulder injury and Tyler Hansbrough inspired plays (12pts, 13rebs in 22 min) but fell short.

  1. Batum is out again after playing badly (1-11 shooting) with recurring injury.
  2. Kemba is listed as day-to-day and JLin is even listed as questionable
  3. Would Clifford finally give Hansbrough regular playing time to strengthen team rebounding?
  4. Would JLin play as a starting SG in Batum’s absence again?
  5. At this point, the best situation for JLin would be to rest his injured ankle at least 2-3 more games until he’s ready to shine in the 2nd half of the season to help the Hornets reach the playoff and increase his market value in hopes of multiple starting PG offers for next season.

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s pray and hope that he waits to be 100% healthy soon before  to help the Hornets to win

Guess JLin's stats in Game 49 vs CLE
  • Yascar

    First?

  • yeah .. hope JLin will only play if he’s 100%

The only upside of JLin playing is if JLin gives the game to remember for the Lakers so his name and MDA would be in the Lakers picture in post-Kobe and post-BScott era

  • Yascar

    Totally agree! 👍

  • yellowshadow

would jlin even play this game? i thought his time table to return was 03 february 2016. id rather see him get completely healthy than playing at this meaningless game, although it would be very pleasurable to see him thrash the lakers to put a sour face on byron scott.

  • Rick Johnson

Might be just as good to watch the Hornets lose to the Lakers with Lin out. Then they will start to see how valuable Lin is.

  • John Focker

Also Kobe may try to smack Jeremy’s face and/or step on his foot again.

Don’t need more low-life dirty moves from Kobe.

  • Yascar

I hear ya and would agree with that normally. But playoff race is so tight and I still have hope Hornets will make it. JLin needs more playoff experience and exposure!

  • NONONO

I wish Lin could play and kick Kobe and BS’ a**. But I hope he would not play because I don’t think he is 100% healthy on his ankle , not even 90% there yet.

  • sws94

He’s already listed as starting SG. Someone posted it in the previous thread.

  • orLinaryjoe

Strong mind over matter and a little chinese medicine MOJO will have Lin playing. He’s the star, and we’re just along for the ride.

  • rookie75094

Let’s go Jlin. … spank the LA BS tankers!!!

  • Acbc

I’m adimament about equivalent exchange of services for Lin’s contract. Clifford and the Hornets are not fulfilling their end of the contract to allow Lin to promote his own future negotiations as a player. Lin has done everything to help the team succeed, doing all the heavy lifting while getting none of the credits. Lin has been deliberately kept from playing his natural position as PG. why is Roberts playing PG when Lin is so obviously better than him at that capacity?

Are they so afraid that Lin will outshine KW at the PG position that they would rather lose than allow Lin to lead the team? Or are they deliberately trying to suppress his offensive stats so that no teams will offer him a contract? In a league that values offence so much, the Hornets appears to be trying to keep Lin from scoring while making him play hard on defence. That is an uneven exchange that worries me.

Anyone that believes that it would benefit Lin to help the Hornets make the playoffs is ignoring how Rox suppressed Lin during the playoffs against Portland. Mchale even lost game 6 deliberately by taking Lin out with less than 1 second left when he had completely shut down Lilliard in the fourth quarter. I’ll bet Clifford would make sure Lin will only stand in the corner on offence while making him work his butt off on defence.

IMO, Lin has more than fullfill his end of his contract to the Hornets. Lin needs to take care of himself and not risk further injuries to his body. He owes nothing to an organization that is only looking out for themselves and not for his future. Lin should rest and not play until he’s completely healed.

“If you look at that I pushed him right in his back. You kidding me, with my right hand,” Dudley said.

And why didn’t Harden, the league leader in free-throw attempts, get the call?

“He flops so much (it backfired),” Dudley quipped.

  • Lefon Jang

I kinda think Lin’s value has gone up because of his versatility and not the other way around. And it’s hard to imagine any coach would purposely lose games just to suppress a player (unless it’s tanking). I truly believe Lin was brought in to be a backup pg to Kemba but because of all the injuries and rotation changes he ended up playing other positions. I think Clifford’s system has made Lin a better defensive player which will increase his value. Lin is definitely better off today than he was a year ago in terms of his value. Lin chose Hornets has a lot to do with the fact that he would not be suppressed, that he would get playtime.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Is he going to play tonight?

Part of me would like him to play because it’ll be the only game in L.A but the other half of me prefers that he sits and take his time with this ankle injury.

I would also hate to see him have a bad shooting nights which could easily be blame on the ankle.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I agree with that…I would also like for the Hornets to make it into the playoff

  • Rick Johnson

Just depends how closely other GM’s are watching. But offense really gets their attention. He needs some games to put it all together and show what he can do from both ends of the floor running the offense. Otherwise he’s a role player.

  • kauaiblue

    Ha ha… dudley is right…

  • GameWatcher

It’s about time they stop that nonsense. Lin needs to get knocked unconscious to get a common foul while Harden receives a flagrant call from the refs for someone blowing on his beard.

  • sws94

I do too. I truly think Cliff trusts and plays Lin knowing he is somewhat high-risk, high reward but ge really isn’t a backup either. He’s a true 6th man now. I’m not sure what his playing time will be like with MKG back but up to now there hasn’t been a game where Lin hasn’t started when Batum can’t play and he’s finished most games. To me it is HUGE he’s finished most games. Lin has been in most of the OTs. Lin doesn’t play that much PG because Cliff sees him as both PG and SG but maybe more in the SG position for this squad and the personnel. But this position isn’t like MDA, where the PG runs the show. In Cliff’s starting lineup, it is the SG, in the form of Batum, that does much of the facilitation. With Lin on, it varies how much facilitation he does. Lin is a better defensive player and I don’t hear much from announcers that Lin is not a strong defensive player anymore. And playtime isn’t an issue anymore. He played 50 minutes in a game, more than anyone else (he’s playing too many with his ankle compromised when he’s in).

I just think Clif’s idea differs from what some fans thought Lin would be used like before the season started but in actuality, even back to pre-season, Lin was the off-guard in the majority of the minutes he played and not the PG.

  • sws94

Can’t say for sure but all signs point to that. Making him questionable tonight where he was at first slated to come back on Wednesday. Batum out often means Lin starts. Roberts and PJ are also on the injury list.

  • sws94

    Me too. Definitely.

  • sws94

They know how valuable he is. That’s why he plays hurt so many games, more than Lamb and Batum.

  • donsmacau

“high-risk, high reward”, what exactly is meant by high-risk? Is this a throwback to the worn, outdated meme that he’s turnover prone?
If it isn’t this years turnovers, point to a statistic that is demonstrably worse than any other Hornet playing the positions he’s asked to play this season.

  • sws94

somewhat, I said somewhat. I’m not going beyond that and it isn’t the gist of my comment. I’m saying it is a different philosophy Cliff has on the use of Lin vs. some of the fans. The fans aren’t wrong either, it’s just Cliff has his team considerations and will go with his way to use him. So, that’s what will be.

  • Rick Johnson
  • sws94

But it was defense claimed to be why Beverley and Ronnie Price were favored to start over Lin. Defense matters and Lin’s playing off-ball makes Lin more qualities to join their squad. It depends on the organization, personnel and coach of the team where he’d go to. They already know he’s a strong PnR player, but now you can add defensive player and more. I would like to see Lin start to have bigger offensive games, bigger offensive 4th quarters in a streak of games also. Definitely raises his profile, and you’re right, defense and even assists don’t as much as points put up.

I still think that there is a reality that Lin is seen more as a combo guard than PG by a lot of organizations so his next team, even if he chooses it, may not have him playing PG as much as most of the fans here would like. Moving to a new team does not guarantee Lin is a PG. I guess if he’s back with MDA one day somewhere, that’s close to a guarantee.

  • Ben Johnson

Which would explain why Deangelo is on the trading block…but if you did know this, then why the heck didn’t you draft Okafor or Porzingis?!?!

  • donsmacau

Byron Scott, worst Coach in NBA (maybe History of) was a guard.

Using what he thinks he knows about the guard position from a bygone era, he has a way of wringing the spirit & sucking the soul out of guards like DRussell & JLIN.

  • sport

Also coming back too early might aggravate the injury which previous games have done! Then again it’s the last time to pay back Lakers, BS, and Kobe (if he’s playing). No doubt after this season BS is out the door with Kobe retiring.

  • sport

Except Playoff could very well end up like Rockets playoff where Lin’s iced out most of the games for the “designated stars”. No doubt Batum and Kemba will be selfish ball hogs trying to pad their stats and fame in playoffs. Who knows those 3 Batum, Kemba, and MKG might go playing their 3 man game leaving nothing for Lin!

  • Ben Johnson

Yup, last time to give Kobe a smackdown before he’s out of the game…

  • Rick Johnson

Didn’t Byron Scott claim credit for drafting D”Angelo? Would explain a lot of things.

  • kauaiblue

Anyone watch extreme games? Just happened upon snowboarding… it’s awesome! After Jlin retires, will check out more extreme sports and soccer!

  • Rick Johnson

That seemed more of an excuse for those respective coaches to bench Lin. Look what happens after the season, no GM’s were interested in Beverley, Lakers didn’t even resign Price. He ended up on a $1.49 mil salary on the Suns as a backup PG.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Exactly…I’d like to see a major payback for how Kobe and Scott treated Lin last year…and how Scott made Lin a scapegoat for the Lakers bad season that year.

To see the Lakers even worse this year without Lin makes me very happy…It suggest the problem was never Lin but Byron Scott and Kobe who was too ball-dominant at this stage of his career.

I strongly believe Lin will give it a go, specially with Batum out..that’s his chance to start and get some points.

The good news is that after this game, I believe they have 2 days off, so it might be worth it to play this game and get the 2 game rest.

The All-Star break is getting near too, so he may give it a go and hope he can make until the ASB.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Why Lin fan should not root for the Hornets to lose, even when Lin is not [playing.

Lin value will even be greater in the free agent market if the Hornets were to make it into the playoff with Lin being a contributor to making it happen.

Lin IS AVERAGING 18ppg in 10 starts this year..My hope is that if Lin continues to play well as a starter, Clifford will not be so quick to pull him once Batum comes back…I’m sure that would be wishful-thinking, but you can’t ignore Lin great stats as a starter.

  • LinMad

Didn’t someone say that Cliff said Lin was brought in not to be a starter but a bench player?

  • donsmacau

Lakers are Hated – As much as ANY JLIN fan, I hate Lakers Org., Kobe & Bymoron Scott (worst coach maybe in NBA history) for LOADS of bull-sheet put on JLIN & enjoy Lakers dropping below 76ers for worst team in ~5 gms.

Likely this is last chance JLIN faces Kobe/BScott as hopefully gone for good — And I want revenge for JLIN as much as anyone — BUT NOT at the expense of a less than 100% Ankle.

Been on unhealed ankle month+, affects first-step explosiveness, 3pt propulsion thus accuracy but importantly chance of re-injury high, even when playing – can be seen limping/favoring ankle during/after games.

If Hornets Win – Fine, but they don’t need non-healed JLIN helping them.

  • kauaiblue

Nah, I don’t believe that Clifford has the nuts to anything different… Hope you are correct…

  • donsmacau

Lin said he was brought in to backup Kemba at PG.

You can rationalize and blame what happened on injuries whatnot… but fact of the matter is JLIN plays backup point guard to Kemba 10-15% of his time on court. Brob is Kemba’s real backup pg.

  • I am The Jason

So basically the OKC duo are going to the Lakers. Why leave stability for dysfunction???

  • I am The Jason

The Lakers actually thought they would get LMA or Greg Monroe in FA.

  • Sophie Paris

Snowboarding is my favorite sport 🙂

  • Lefon Jang

I love to see Lin in the Playoff regardless if he’s a PG, SG or even a post!

  • Sophie Paris

Same here I wanna see Lin in playoffs so hornets gotta win

  • kauaiblue

It’s so fun! I’ve never seen it before… my new hobby!?

  • kauaiblue

Can I say this here? You are gorgeous… sorry, couldn’t resist…

  • I am The Jason

I don’t believe that Lin fans want the Hornets to loose if Lin is not playing. We just want Clifford to utilize Lin better.

  • kauaiblue

Sorry, but as long as he is used as a garbage man, doing dirty work and tasked with cleaning up after walker and batum’s incompetence, i actually like to see them lose perhaps a bit above indifference… i don’t even watch the games if jlin not playing…

  • LinMad

true, Brob the one who shoots more than playing PG is the backup PG. He’s basically Kemba Jr.

  • LinMad

I don’t root for the Hornets to lose but I do point out all the flaws when Lin is not playing. I do that every game but it’s just a lot more when Lin is not playing. Like when Batum is facilitating, you can see that he’s not good at it. I’ve seen it since start of season. He has slow feet, faster players can strip the ball from him, his court vision isn’t good, his passes aren’t that great either, he dribbles slow and very prone to getting stolen. His passes are predictable.

  • I am The Jason

Why wait until Lin retire? Start now

  • kauaiblue

No time! Gotta work late a lot, so i miss even Jlin’s games sometimes… I’m watching right now… really cool stuff!

  • yellowshadow

lakers think every major FA wants to come to the lakers for like last 4 years. superstars no longer come for the places where the lights are the brightest now that internet streaming has allowed every fan to watch any game they want, they go for the place that will net them a legacy – being a champion. westbrook and durant leaving to go to…knicks or lakers when OKC is superior by every position and have better coach?

  • kauaiblue

Bc most are shallow, not loyal individuals… i don’t mean loyal to the owners… i mean loyal to the people of oklahoma city…

  • yellowshadow

every NBA player implies how much harden flops, but dudley called it like he sees it. meanwhile jeremy cant buy a foul even after getting a bloody nose.

  • yellowshadow

i dont know bro, kobe might try to break lin’s legs as his farewell gift this time.

  • Sophie Paris

Haha thks. And I’m better in snow wear lol xD

  • Sophie Paris

Yes it is so fun I love it

  • sws94

It was an excuse, a weak one. They got away with it based on Lin’s rep.

  • Sophie Paris

I don’t watch if he doesn’t play either. It’ll be the surprise tonight.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Nba NBC is desperate for readers.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

There is a big difference between rooting for them to lose and correctly expecting them to lose because of no lin.

    Be careful.

  • kauaiblue

    Lol!

  • kauaiblue

    Ok, I’ll root for playoffs!

  • kauaiblue

    28/10!

  • Yascar

    So… is he playing?

  • Joe what do you know

I strongly agree with all of your assessment of Batum except the court vision bit. I reckon he has above average court vision, he sees passing lane and all. However saying that, his passing techniques and aggressiveness is horrible at best. That’s why majority of his turnovers are resulting from bad/intercepted passes. He really should stick to being a catch and shoot guy and third option on facilitating…

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yeah, he wants dirty play on Lin again. Kobe will never forget that 38 points on him in MSQ.

  • good, that increases Hornets’ chances.

  • heart

Is Lin playing that’s why Kobe plays? Thought he has shoulder issue…

  • Rick Johnson

Would be pretty easy to defend. Just let Kobe take all the long 2 pointers he wants and have Hansbrough rebound. Counts the same as a TO.

  • Rick Johnson

Lin always seems to play well at Staples Center. MSG too.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hawes passes the ball better than Batum. I would rather see Lin play with Lamb than Kemba or Batum.

  • blubell
  • LinMad

    hot topic this season

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Kemba’s never been known as a pass-first point guard. Walker’s assist rate is 25.2 percent, Kyle Lowry’s is at 31.4 percent, Isaiah Thomas’ is at 35 percent, while John Wall’s tops the list at a staggering 45.8 percent. I wouldn’t even call him a PG; he’s just an undersized SG who loves to have the ball in his hand. I’m not biased against him. It’s Walker’s style of playing basketball.

Hornets is a team that builds on draft and they are founded on players like MKG, Walker, Zeller and now Kaminsky. Those are core players that they have kept.

In fact, they have made a mistake of keeping HARRISON at the beginning of the season. Harrison can’t contribute at the bench at all. They have less depth than they think they have. Now they need help in the SG position and SF. Perhaps they should put Harrison on waiver and sign some FA that could help the team right now.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lakers have problems that a basketball star couldn’t solve. They need a renovator, a new coach and a new GM; perhaps a new owner.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Players after playing for Lakers takes time before they can function properly. Usually they played at a less role and their value depreciated. Boozer doesn’t even play at all this season. Joining the Lakers could be a nightmare for veterans.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He rested well for this. Just like their last meeting, he always had pre-excuse injury before game. True is he just needs to get lost as soon as possible.

  • sws94

He better not get hurt tonight. This is wrong. Clifford says he believes Lin will play tonight.

  • David Ly
  • yellowshadow

if lin gets hurt this is on hornets medical staff, the worst in the league right now!!!!

  • David Ly
  • Kwok Wai Lai

I said so. They would rest Batum and perhaps, Walker.

  • kauaiblue

Not smart, JLin… just sit for a while…

  • CJSHYY

    Not really in Staples Center.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

JLin is no less than amazing. Give him two or three days a rest, and he’s as good as new; definitely the most underpaid players in NBA.

  • sws94

Try to play means he’s not ready. And he’s going to start probably. Just watch, he’ll start and play almost 30 minutes unless it is a blowout.

  • sws94

    btw, Lamb is OUT.

  • Yascar

Thanks. I think this is bad news. God bless you and protect you tonight Jeremy.

  • joyce ward

You know they really need to rethink signing Batum because he has not contributed at all. I was hoping lin would rest his ankle, but they probably don’t have anyone else to play.smh. What is up with MKG? Is he out too?

  • donsmacau

How many minutes is Clifford gonna play our JLIN?

    – Batum in from injury plays 40 min. — back out very next day
    – MKG in from 4 mo. serious injury plays 33 min.

Not Clifford’s style to protect the interest of his players.

  • sport

How is this fair? Pretty sure Lin is more injured than Batum and Walker! Why does he need to face the tanking Lakers while they get to rest?

  • sws94

He’s back. Played last game and played well. Crazy thing is, he started and Cliff played him 33 minutes.

  • sws94

Too many. He’ll probably play him 28-30 in regulation if not more and if there’s OT, he’ll play him every minute of OT.

  • sport

Believe my butt! He’s just resting his stars at the expense of Lin’s health!! And Lin’s so eager to start and play that he doesn’t care if he isn’t full healed!

  • Rick Johnson

Dang, I hope they blow out the Lakers quickly and early in the game so he can sit out and rest the second half. Don’t want some tight game to the end or OT.

  • Phillycheese

Yay, Lin might play tonight. Am I the only one here looking forward to Lin playing. Don’t understand the fans that want him to sit.

  • joyce ward

Ok, I thought he got hurt in the last game.

  • donsmacau

Some of us remember seeing him writhe, grimace and go immobile under excruciating agony while he lay on the court for an entire series and we think it’s too early to have even come back to 80% healing from this one month recurring ankle injury.

p.s. (a semi-important player would have had official time out for them)

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

A lot of Lin fan are afraid that playing partially hurt with make him less effective thus less efficiency

I’m actually happy that he’ll play because I trust Lin enough to believe he feels no pain and can go.

When Lin doesn’t play, I have not much reason to watch, so I’m glad I’ll have something to watch tonight.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

No, it was Kemba. Saw report that he was hurt but didn’t say where.

  • joyce ward

    OK, thanks

  • John Focker

Either butt hurt or bruised ego.

  • John Focker

I’m concerned KoBS will put their lowlife paws on Jeremy again (pull a Beverley), causing new injury or aggravating the old one.

  • donsmacau

If Kobe goes after JLIN’s ankle – JLIN must go after Kobe’s shoulder.

  • John Focker

Not a fair trade at all, Kobe’s retiring but Jeremy’s just about to peak.

  • donsmacau

True but will give us some satisfaction seeing Kobe in pain

  • sport

Because we’re all worried about a lingering injury then seeing JLin play a game. But it’s the first time JLin will play with both Batum and Walker out so it’s his best chance to have a breakout game! I do look forward to Lin actually being the PG unless Cliff is bias enough to play him as SG so he won’t outshine the stars!

  • guest

Jeremy wants to play agains Kobe. This will be his last opportunity to play against him head to head. Who would have thought Jeremy would be playing SG against Kobe Bryant. Another tale of JLin!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

How lin was in pain laying still on floor I thought this would be weeks if not months he would be out instead he was listed as day to day the following day and that was the great news. If Lin feels he can go to help the team then we should trust and support his decision.

…but please watch Kobe’s foot sticking below.

  • adele

Not if he is in pain. And if they lose, it will be on him.

  • guest

Lin knows how Kobe plays against him. I think he’ll be playing aggressive today regardless of his ankle.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I wish Lin rains another 38 on Kobe for his retirement.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

So far all teams from Eastern Conference are losing or lost to the Western.

  • sws94

Not fully healed, may make his ankle worse. Otherwise, love to see him play.

  • Acbc

    Yes it’s all about you.

  • sws94

Then Marvin fouls him hard. Or Tyler. Team needs an enforcer sometimes.

  • CJSHYY
  • Lefon Jang

That’s because they’re not playing against the Lakers

  • Phillycheese

Lin is a big, strong Asian man. He is not soft and his team needs him. He is not just playing for the now. I want Lin to play if able. Note the last two words ‘if able’, so do not misunderstand my posting. None of you know if he is able or not.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Both!

  • Lefon Jang

what do you think about that shooting form?

  • donsmacau

Being coerced by this organization who’s short-manned and in need of defense.

Clifford played Batum 40 min. when he came back – driving Batum back to injured list immediately after game.

This indicates, the team medical staff and Head Coach have poor judgement.

  • Ben Johnson

I think his bro Joseph is a way better shooter, that’s what I think 😀

I don’t think the spike works anymore. His hair has gotten too long now.

  • blubell
  • Ben Johnson

    I don’t know, but he’s freaking 14-17, holy crap!!!

  • CJSHYY

    Haha! I like it.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

1st taste of Lin and MKG

  • Maknusia

    oh ya!…hope their chemistry develops

  • JLin just dabbed Kobe before the game started.
    He smiled

    The #SmiLinAssasin

  • Lefon Jang

MKG on Kobe? What a waste!

  • 6-0 great start with MKG 2 FTs now

  • ty

Lin, looking to take it easy on that ankle

  • Maknusia

    good start indeed!

  • Maknusia

he should…he should get the feel first…before going hard

  • kauaiblue

What was the point of playing again?

  • ty

more fun to watch for us if he can go hard

  • kauaiblue

    That shot was ugly…

  • golfhacker

He’s on the TV show Fresh Off The Boat.

  • Kemba pass to Lin for a 3pt attempt
    Missed but good attempt..

  • kauaiblue

    Nice play…

  • Lin might be a bit surprised there lol

  • Maknusia

    yeah…hope it continues!

  • Maknusia

    Jeez…everyone missing their 3s

  • Lefon Jang

    MKG is choking KObe

  • kauaiblue

MKG joining in the ignoring JLin game plan… lol

  • I like to see how hard MKG plays

  • Maknusia

too many early fouls!…Ref trigger happy?!

  • LinMad

    why is Kemba on JC?

  • Maknusia

    LAL took the lead!

  • wow MKG 3

  • LinMad

    222222222

  • Lefon Jang

    Yeah Lin

  • 808JL7

    22222222

  • Thank God Kobe is playing

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Surprise!

  • Maknusia

    hooo hooo…finally a 3!!!! Go MKG!

  • Maknusia

    hahaha

  • kauaiblue

    lol

  • Maknusia

    Lin for 2!!!!

  • Maknusia

    sweet…another 3!!! GO KW

  • Lefon Jang

    MKG is killing it

  • blubell

    Almost…

  • LinMad

nice pass by Lin. Real PG material

  • Lin assist to Hawes!!

  • blubell

    Assist!

  • kauaiblue

    Beautiful pass…

  • Yeah, 19-10, baby!

  • Maknusia

    SG material?! 😉

  • Kwok Wai Lai

All Hornets on the scoreboard, this is a good sign.

  • Maknusia

    yup…keep the tempo

  • Alain Gervais

Lin moving better as the game is going along

  • Love Lin

A nice start! Good 4 the Hornets.. Go Lin!

  • LinMad

I think Lin + MKG could connect well. Just needs to play together more.

  • now I remember why Lakers is losing..

A lot of contested 2 and Kobe FG attempts

  • Kwok Wai Lai

As long as Kobe stays on the court, the Hornets can’t loss.

  • travis

    wow kobe true team killer

  • LinMad

    and their defense …

  • takemeback2reaganyears

MKG is what the Hornets really need, he’s very active in the paint.

  • nice offensive flow and hustle!

  • Alain Gervais

If only they had a player who can drive lol

  • kobe 0/5

  • donsmacau

Kobe is the reason for a multitude of Laker woes

  • LinMad

agreed, he’s the type of big we were missing.

  • aras

Lin playing real smart. you can see he does not look to penetrate due to the ankle problem but he his scanning his surroundings instead. i like it

  • kauaiblue

Itd be nice if he passed it to Jlin…

  • Maknusia

we should let him shoot all he wants! lol

  • Ben Johnson

Jeremy playing 1/2 speed tonight, basically this is how Jeremy will be playing when he’s 33+years old

  • kauaiblue

Me too! Work on that outside shot in this easy game…

  • next season, next season .. =)

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hornets need him on the court.

  • zxcvb

Jeremy clearly sore and moving gingerly, but he’s still playing WINNING teamball.

He’s taking a statistical hit for the team. Even at 50%, he can ensure the win.

  • Lefon Jang

    league pass shows 0/2

  • yup, they sorta gave up

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Very caution.

  • Ben Johnson

even at 50%, he’s still better than any of the Lakers players

  • Maknusia

lol…next season Kobe announces a comeback!

  • Alain Gervais

not with bryon. sorry deal breaker

  • Certainly a Kobe retirement show

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Good Lin rest.

  • kauaiblue

if you want to lose… lol

  • i just went to the play-by-play, and counted 5 missed shots and no makes. maybe LP is lagging.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Good. Kobe keeps going.

  • Maknusia

    Here comes Troy!!!!

  • LinMad

Yes rest Lin as long as u can today.

  • kauaiblue

JLin resting? ok, time to brush my teeth…

  • Good to see MKG and Lin getting rest together.

They will be needed to play together later.

  • Maknusia

    lol…Listerine would be faster

  • Rick Johnson

Hopefully when he comes back it’s as PG for 2nd unit

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Troy you’d better hit your shots. Lin needs lots of rest.

  • yellowshadow

lakers are suppose to be better this year by players but they are doing worse? no lin, no ed davis = terrible record

  • takemeback2reaganyears

KObe took advantage of MKG restin.g

  • LinMad

I predicted that this preseason. Lakers fans didn’t believe me but now they do.

  • Lefon Jang

    shot over Kemba

  • MKG is definitely a better defender than Hairston

  • or chewing gum :]

  • sws94

Way, way better. I like MKG. I think he plays in a Lin-friendly style.

  • Ben Johnson

The only thing that Hairston does better is hit some 3s, but then again they both suck at 3s, so it’s probably better that neither take any

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Oh yes clearly.

  • yes.. tough bball style, teamball

  • I love watching MKG play .. getting all the loose balls, nice putback, even a bonus 3!

  • Lefon Jang

    Psycho T in

  • kauaiblue

    Theyre coming back?? smh

  • Rick Johnson

Remember Lin fans telling them BScott doesn’t know what he’s doing. Laker fans were like “HOFer, coached Jason Kidd, Chris Paul” yada yada. I bet they don’t say that anymore.

  • kauaiblue

    Psycho T!!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Rest Kemba and send in Roberts, Clifford.

  • kauaiblue

Ran Kelly still in the league?

  • Another contested 2 by the Lakers..

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Kemba ISO mode!!!!

  • Lefon Jang

Daniels can’t shoot anything but 3

  • sport

Thought Walker was injured and not playing darn.

  • Kelly’s hair looks like Hawes’ lol

  • kauaiblue

    I don’t like how Kaminsky ballhogs too…

  • Yascar

    They don’t.

  • Rick Johnson

Is Daniels just good at shooting 3’s?

  • golfhacker

    Good for the tanking.

  • yellowshadow

yeah man! they wish they had MDA back

  • redking79

Troy Daniels taking a lot of contested shots… He needs to take them in the flow instead.

  • i’m glad the ball-hogging is happening while lin is off.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    WTH was that Kobe?

  • Alain Gervais

    he knows his job

  • Hornets has a drought .. Lakers 6-0 run
    21-16

  • yellowshadow

calm the h*** down kemba… losing that lead again without lin and MKG

  • kauaiblue

    They are so baaad!

  • Lefon Jang

    Hornets in bonus. go inside!

  • LinMad

    bring Lin back.

  • Alain Gervais

That unit that ended the game is not good.

  • kauaiblue

OMG, what is wrong with this team??

  • LinMad

Lanes look so clogged without Lin on the floor.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Kemba took 3 shots and missed them all.

  • yellowshadow

randle is a bust man… so much for the future of the franchise, that dude is one dimensional offense and no defense.

  • kauaiblue

Any unit without JLin is bad on Hornets…

  • LinMad

already knew that when he went coast to coast last season and broke his leg. If he played smarter he wouldn’t need to put so much effort into one basket.

  • Rick Johnson

Lead down from 9 to 5 since Lin left. Just saying.

  • Lefon Jang

    as usual Kobe shooting 25%

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hornets wasn’t good; Lakers worse. Thanks to Kobe, Hornets got the lead.

  • kauaiblue

    Yeah, thats about it…

  • Lefon Jang

    I hear you

  • sport

Hornets bricking shots with Walker as PG. Switch the PG to Lin and it’s be a blow out already since Lin works well with Hansbrough, Kamisky, PJ Hairston, and Daniels!

  • james brown

is it the battle of the two ISO???LOL!

  • kauaiblue

    It’s not a coincidence…

  • sws94

I thought he’d be better. Not saying he’s a bust yet but he has a long way to go and improvments to make in his game.

  • LinMad

MKG too. Just waiting for them to connect.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Kemba shot first and no pass.

  • sport

Cliff seriously need to take Walker out! Hornets look likes a lottery team and no better than Lakers.

  • Hornets offense sputtered with Lin/MKG out
    1-8 shooting + 1TO

  • Rick Johnson

Wonder how much is Randel and how much is coaching

  • yellowshadow

why is ryan kelly in the nba?

  • Lefon Jang

    lin had the steal

  • LinMad

    good D by Lin

  • GameWatcher
  • sport

Walker an undersized SG playing as PG is the wrong of this team! Lin just needs look for his shots first and pass second!

  • John Focker

Makes aging NBA stars feel secure and good about themselves.

  • Lefon Jang

    LIn and Pshcho T, nice

  • I am The Jason

To help the tank commander B. Scott

  • kauaiblue

    Beautyiful p n r with psycho t…

  • sport

More like iso, iso and iso.Watch Walker chuck up 30 shots and only make less than half of them. Kobe the iso chuck master would be proud.

  • Lin found Pycho T inside.. 2 FTs!

  • Rick Johnson

Would be better if his FT% was better than 50%

  • Lefon Jang

    3333333

  • blubell

    333333333

  • LinMad

I knew that 3 was going in when it left his hands

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Lin hit a 3!!!

  • 808JL7

    33333 ball

  • Dorothy

    333333333333

  • Lin for 3333333333!!!!
    28-18

  • yellowshadow

every time lin in = lead… coincidence? :]

  • Maknusia

    there you go!!!!! finally!!!!!

  • LinMad

When BROB dribbles a lot he doesn’t pass it. You know he wants the shot.

  • redking79

Stu Lantz is kind of nice to Lin since the Lakers front office isn’t tell him to put Lin down.

  • blubell

    Roberts iso…

  • kauaiblue

    Psycho T playing well…

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Lin played smart

  • Lefon Jang

Psycho T took the charge ! YOu da man

  • Psycho T drew an offensive charge on Clarkson!

  • redking79

It showed why he’s 3rd string.

  • Ulysses Modder

After of the movie The Butterfly Effect now have Effect Lin

  • CaliUSMC

    Who missed that pass!?

  • sport

That was a bad TO by Lin!

  • LinMad

Would have been nice if Psycho T caught Lin’s pass. At least Lin is looking for Psycho T.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Tyler couldn’t catch the pass.

  • Maknusia

wanted to see Young getting a little more burn

  • Alain Gervais

It was a forced pass because he know he cant jump the high on the ankle.

  • sws94

I think it was miscommunication. He expected a player to be somewhere and they weren’t.

  • sport

Pretty sure that was a bad pass by Lin. Announcers said he should’ve waited longer and passed to Kaminsky.

  • yellowshadow

that was psycho t’s fault. he came up to lin to apologize and lin gave him a low five

  • redking79

I thought it was good, but Pyscho T wasn’t ready. He’s not used to people on the Hornets passing.

  • Lefon Jang

    no worries

  • 6-2 run after Lin checked in the 2nd quarter as the only starter

  • kauaiblue

    Why isn’t JLin the pg??

  • sws94

I really think he was expecting somebody to be where he put the ball.

  • Alain Gervais

If Lin was healthy thats an easy layup

  • JoeTeam

Roberts was looking for his own that last run.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin’s brain tells him to drive to the rim but his ankle put on the brake.

  • LinMad

i really don’t know. BROB should just play SG. Or just bring in Troy for that and sit BROB.

  • sws94

I disagree. I think it was a miscommunication TO. Anyway, it’s just a TO. Lin’s doing ok.

  • sport

Yes really bad TO, Lin throwing the ball to no one! Should’ve just taken the shot!

  • sws94

He’s always offball when Roberts is in.

  • as long as Roberts brings up the ball & not try to dominate, it’s good

not too hard on JLin’s ankle

  • heart

Nope. He was trying to pass to Hans inside near the basket, but maybe it was tipped or intercepted by one of the Lakers.

  • LinMad

Byron’s strategy right now is to double team Lin.

  • Lefon Jang

Lakers tries to double LIn. Good luck with that

  • sport

It’s BS, Young isn’t going to be treated well so long as he’s coach.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lakers has been called on illegal defense!

  • Rick Johnson

That was a wrap around pass to Hansbrough. Went under his arm pit. Should have been catchable to Hansbrough knew it was coming.

  • Lefon Jang

    free throws on target

  • JoeTeam

funny doubling him on the inbounds sort of desperate to prove him worthy,

  • CaliUSMC

Let Kobe have that open 3 all day

  • golfhacker

That’s gotta be over 20 in a row!

  • LinMad

did I hear that right? Lin and Lamb are best bench duo in the east

  • LinMad

I think Byron thinks Lin would give the ball under pressure.

  • Ben Johnson

it’s been that way all season bro, where you been?

  • Lefon Jang

that was good D by PJ. they always give Kobe the call

  • yellowshadow

i think best reserve duo, but been awhile since lamb played

  • redking79

Lakers announcers aren’t under orders to destory Lin anymore.

  • Lefon Jang

    The Tank finally man up

  • Frank is more physical than Kelly 😀

  • Lefon Jang

    oh PJ !!!

  • LinMad

    Good Lin assist to PJ

  • TTNN

Good, he should be better than Kelly

  • JoeTeam

Well, we know BSc isn’t the smartest coach. Like I said, early 2nd quarter, looks desperate to pinch someone on the inbounds line.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin cant lay up the ball

  • LinMad

    aww Lin missed a layup

  • yellowshadow

    damn… lin’s ankle stopped that layup…

  • Dorothy

    2222222222

  • golfhacker

    No excuses for that miss.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Every Hornets is on score board. Kobe got his points. That’s a good sign.

  • LinMad

    ??? when?

  • LinMad

Wow Kobe is making shots. Gotta put someone else on him instead of PJ.

  • Kobe is getting hot now
    15pts on 5-11 shooting

    Good sign for the Hornets

  • redking79

    Need MKG.

  • Lefon Jang

    MKG ?

  • Alain Gervais

Its crazy how loud they are screaming. Overtime kobe makes a shot

  • sport

No one guard Kobe or what?

  • yellowshadow

    nice commercial frank lol

  • golfhacker

    PJ defending.

  • LinMad

PJ is, Kobe just making them.

  • JoeTeam

When I saw Kobe at GSW a couple of weeks ago, crowd went wild when he scored and also chanted for him to come back late in the game. He came back in for about 2 mins and didn’t do anything but then when he left, fans cheered wildly. So, anyway, he’s going to keep hitting 3s until later this game.

  • Maknusia

    yeah…good timeout call

  • Dorothy

no? i thought he made it lol

  • takemeback2reaganyears

All-start week-off couldn’t come soon enough. Lin ankle needs rest badly.

  • yellowshadow

lin game high +13 and most minutes played on the team

  • occupatio

kobe’s outside shot rarely looks like it will go in. it barely crawls over rim when it does.

  • Kobe will shoot a lot tonight but MKG will stop him
I’m guessing he might finish 8-25

  • Maknusia

    MKG is in!

  • LinMad

lol y did Byron take out Kobe so soon?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

They double team Lin, BS shows his concern.

  • MKG+Marvin checked in

  • LinMad

Kobe does well, Byron sits him.

  • JoeTeam

he’s doing well on D. 2 easy buckets not taken. ya maybe no ankle for slowdown or elevation.

  • golfhacker

Hansbrough really knows how to roll. Now just needs to do better with FTs.

  • I like this physical lineup
    MKG/Hansbrough/Lin/Marvin

  • sport

Hansbrough finally getting decent minutes and playing with Lin!

  • Maknusia

must be due to @psalm234:disqus giving things out

  • redking79

    Byron Scott coaching 101

  • Dorothy

He does not want Lin to shine. Otherwise, he would be embarassed…

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin and tyler wow

  • LinMad

    Lin causing Havoc with Tyler

  • Lefon Jang

Lin to Psycho T one more time !

  • Alain Gervais

    lol

  • Lin/Hansbrough PnR

    2pts And-1!!!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    PnR in your face BS

  • grover chang

    PNR PSYCHO T

  • Rick Johnson

    Lin + Hansbrough PnR!!

  • LinMad

I think BS is most hated coach by everyone.

  • PnR, baby!!
    41-31

  • Maknusia

    Lin out…KW is in

  • Guest

Hornets shooting are off, somebody needs to attack the rim

  • aras

    NOOOICE Pass

  • redking79

Cliff 101. Take Lin out instead of Roberts… WTF?

  • Dorothy

    Lin out

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin needs a rest

  • zxcvb

This is why Lin is special.

Bum ankle hurting his scoring and man-to-man D? He can still pass and play good help D.

  • LinMad

weird, must be resting his ankles.

  • Rick Johnson

And then team seems to become disorganized.

  • JoeTeam

yep. stat lines all look good except the FGM.

  • blubell

    6 pts., 3 asts., 2 reb.

  • Lefon Jang

    MKG is just a beast

  • yellowshadow

lin has most minutes played on the team and he’s injured

  • JoeTeam

I see it as desperation to embarrass Lin or something as it happened early in the 2nd right on the inbounds. Weird.

  • Ben Johnson

if he didn’t miss that bunny layup, would have had really good numbers

  • yes, he might not be able to finish his layup strongly but he can execute PnR flawlessly

  • John Focker

Kobe out, Lin out. Walker playing against bench…hopefully sign of things to come. LOL

  • sport

Can we please see Lin handling the ball as PG? Roberts as PG is just dumb!

  • Ulysses Modder

Lin’s cancer in Hornets is Batun, is not Kemba

  • redking79

Good numbers since the Lakers are focusing on stopping him.

  • JoeTeam

I agree. On one of those, going so fast into it, he couldn’t decelerate … ball was a little too strong going in.

  • sport

Nope it’s definitely Kemba who chuck shots like crazy and ices Lin out! At least Batum doesn’t chuck 28-30+ shots every game. But Batum is no better also selfish and ices Lin out!

  • yellowshadow

“lou has been quiet this game” – because lin was guarding him lol

  • Nice Kemba assist to Marvin 3
    45-34

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Charlotte slowly grinding away from the Lakers. Well, Kobe scored almost half of the points.

  • Rick Johnson

Williams hadn’t scored on Lin all game , soon as Lin out

  • Lefon Jang

    3 for MKG

  • JoeTeam

That TH and1 was nice to see … we haven’t had much bigs action all year.

  • blubell
  • Briiick

As long as KW is THE PG, any PG better than him is not allowed to play the point in Hornets.

  • LinMad

I just noticed something weird. Why are so many people in the audience wearing black? Are they protesting the Lakers?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

MKG’s great in 3 point shooting tonight; nightmare for Lakers’ defense.

  • Briiick

    Winners recognize winners.

  • Lefon Jang

    Marvin on fire

  • Weifang

the whole nba is so scared of linsanity p&r. Lin-Davis was stopped by their own coach. And seem Clifford follows the same path. why? … I think I know why after so many seasons, just look at Kobe…

  • so nice to have a big who can play the roll of the pick n roll well.

  • John Focker

Backwards. Batum will play with Lin, Kemba ignores Lin COMPLETELY.

  • kauaiblue

It is strange… he is stifled at every turn!

  • yellowshadow

lin had the most minutes played before he was subbed out. HE IS INJURED

  • kauaiblue

    It’s been a pattern for a few years now… really…

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin knows how to help his teammates build confidence. Lin passed an assist to Tyler immediately after his two missed FTs.

  • Maknusia

    thats not true, either

  • sport

That’s why they’ve been playing Lin out of his PG position these past seasons! Now Lin even plays SF but not as PG still!

  • Alain Gervais

Every starter has atleast 2 assist

  • yellowshadow

what, lin doesnt get any rest? ok….

  • Maknusia

    oh ya…they are connecting now!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Because if that offense was the reason the Hornets’ most fear offense, Lin will be Nash and Kemba will be Dragic or Sabosa.

  • cshot

wish lin would be allowed more pt with hansbo. would be a good combo

  • kauaiblue

    See above…

  • yellowshadow

lin had the most minutes played before he was subbed out. HE IS INJURED AND SHOULD NOT BE PLAYING HEAVY MINUTES

  • LinMad

no he doesn’t get to play with the PnR big as much as he should. Only time was with Tyson Chandler in the NY Knicks.

  • blubell
  • It’s okay .. Lin has played the most min at 14 when he rested
It’s good to not overwork an injured Lin

  • kauaiblue

    They are a great combo!

  • Lefon Jang

    c’mon Roberts!

  • Love Lin

    OMG! Harrison Ford

  • Lefon Jang

must be here to watch lin

  • JoeTeam

I’m actually not glad to see him play hurt like this … ankles can get you for a long time. Look now long HBarnes was out and his productivity back is not consistent yet.

  • LinMad

I think Tyler is the only guy now he should work with PnRs. MKG might be physically stronger though but he’s a starter and Lin is bench.

  • yellowshadow

    harrison is LOF XD

  • blubell
  • Maknusia

    sigh..bad foul!

  • LinMad

BROB is ISOing more than Kemba lol

  • blubell
  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin is really hurt because Brian Roberts is playing for him now.

  • sport

    ><" Learning from the chuck master. He's seen Kemba iso so many times he thinks that's what a PG should do! SMH

  • grover chang

maybe walker shot all the time because he didn’t know how to pass

  • wow, Brian Roberts wants to out-Kemba Kemba

  • sport

Why make up lame excuses? Walker is just a selfish iso player like all the other “fake designated stars”.

  • impressive 😀

  • LinMad

it’s like Hornets FO wants to assess BROB. Giving him so many opportunities to shoot.

  • kauaiblue

Surpirse! last shot is walker iso…

  • Lefon Jang

    MKG unbelievable!

  • yellowshadow

    marvin is doing really good!

  • Lakers fouled MKG with 0.4 sec left

  • grover chang

I mean his basketball iq and athleticism it’s too low to pass without a lot of turnovers.

  • Lefon Jang

This is the beginning of good thing to come…

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hard to believe. Hornets led by 13 points in the half by raining 3s over Scott.
BS doesn’t believe in 3s. Now he’s schooled by Clifford & Co.

  • Maknusia

lol…may the best man wins?!! lose?

  • awesome 4-7 from 3pt line!

  • good shooting form + hustle

  • yellowshadow

lakers were saying clarkson had higher ceiling than lin SMH

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The last 2 FTs were gifts.

  • Lefon Jang

Stu said that? He’s a joke

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    he’s just not very smart.

  • Maknusia

    Thanks to Clarkson

  • travis

clarkson a solid offensive player, his ceiling is probably something like 18 and 4

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The difference is Hornets scored five more 3s than the Lakers.

  • Alain Gervais

    On a terrible team

  • Briiick

Defensive players are unselfish players, who are good to help their team win. Today’s NBA places too much weight on meaningless personal stats over wins.

  • travis

damn shame seeing russell getting the lin treatment in LA

  • Lefon Jang

    That kid mouth-off too much

  • travis

nah no hate, obviously lins ceiling is much higher

  • Kwok Wai Lai

He has picked up 3 fouls already!

  • yellowshadow

do you blame him? he would’ve done well anywhere else

  • travis

i think hes only mouthing off cuz of bscott

  • MWilliams and MKG finished the 1st half strong with 13pts/7reb and 11pts/7reb
Lin not far behind with 6pts/3asts/2reb

    All 3 with Top 3 +/- :
    19, 17, 13

  • Ben Johnson

they screwed with Lin cause they wanted to tank…not sure why they are linning Deangelo since even if he plays big minutes, wouldn’t lead to any more wins…

  • John Focker

Fine, not zero…then once in a blue moon…one in fifty. LOL

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Good for him as long as it’s to BS.

  • travis

i think it definetly would, russell reminds me of lin, high bball iq could score and pass, lets game come to him

  • Lefon Jang

you don’t want other coaches to think you’re uncoachable

  • NONONO

Any idea I got “website you were trying to reach is temporary unavailable ” error on this site from any browser except iPhone?

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • travis

i never said hes an elite defender or has high bball iq

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin is so good at making his teammates look good.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    The newly wed.

  • yellowshadow

    kobe “imma break your ankle”
lin “lol you gotta catch me first”

  • blubell
  • He truly has the power of a true PG
Makes everyone around him even better

  • travis

this team would be fighting for a 4th spot if lin and walker switched roles lol

  • NONONO

Any idea I got “website you were trying to reach is temporary unavailable ” error on this site from any browser except iPhone??

  • Briiick

Personal stats on a losing team are fool’s gold.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The agony of playing with Kobe eats up the Lakers. They don’t have too much energy left.

  • hm, you might want to clear the browser cache.
Could be a carryover problem from 4 days ago

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hornets scored 37 in the 2Q.
It was amazing. Suddenly, the 3 points storm hit the Lakers and they were blown out by 10 points in the Q.

  • yellowshadow

their real cancer is BYRON SCOTT, THE WORST COACH IN THE NBA. he should coach for wnba so i can hear him tell his players to man up.

  • travis

lmao he acts like hes coaching football or something

  • John Focker

Why are you insulting the WNBA?

BS should not be coaching basketball (or any other sport) at any level, not even preschool.

  • blubell
  • yellowshadow

i didnt insult WNBA, i made fun of the fact that byron always tells his players to “man up” instead of giving any coaching. try reading a bit harder.

  • dlin2

    He shouldn’t have come back

  • NONONO

It was from 4 days ago – since Lin injured. I just cleared all history , no luck. Any idea?

  • cshot

    plz be ok…

  • yellowshadow

WOW hetzel (assistant coach) just made fun of laker’s defense with a condescending smile LOL

  • hopefully he doesn’t aggravate the ankle.

Maybe he can dish some assists so he won’t overwork it

  • Lefon Jang

    c’mon that was all ball!

  • yup

  • yellowshadow

lin looks like he’s hurting for real. playing passive by choice it looks like.

  • John Focker

The WNBA has done nothing wrong to deserve BS for the sole purpose of your amusement. I doubt WBNA would find the joke amusing either.

  • dlin2

Another missed shot – his ankle definitely playing a factor. He needs to be more mature about looking after his body.

  • Lefon Jang

    Yup ankle bothers him…

  • Alain Gervais

I would tell Lin to drive but he cant

  • dlin2

J Lin is so bad shooting wise – why lin – not rest???

  • redking79

Wow, Lin needs to sit if his ankle is affecting his game. Hornets really need this game and Lin can’t be out there hurting them.

  • sws94

    Lin has no shot tonight.

  • Alain Gervais

    wow what a late call

  • LinMad

that super late whistle. these refs smh

  • Refs is trying to help Lakers to come back

  • Lefon Jang

    for sure. bogus call!

  • dlin2

Lin needs to sit. He is too injured to play.

  • Rick Johnson

    Exactly

  • Lin Win

I don’t think Lin’s shot is caused by ankles.
It’s not like Lin’s shot is falling short or anything! It’s the accuracy ! It keeps going to one side!

  • John Focker

Newbie crooked refs don’t know how to be subtle like the veteran crooked refs.

  • Lefon Jang

    What a save !

  • Lin saved the ball from going out of bound .. Almost assist to MKG
    1-2 FTs!

  • Lefon Jang

Yeah c’mon MKG tug that elbow in

  • cshot

    that hustle

  • redking79

    Lin out hustling Kobe.

  • Lin Win

HAHAH beat Kobe at the hustle

  • dlin2

The fact that it hurts (grimmace) means it will impact.

  • Lefon Jang

    thank goodness for marvin

  • It’s weird to see Kemba so passive out there

He might’ve run out of energy already

  • Lin assist to MW

  • Lefon Jang

    MKG !!!!!

  • Kobe scored on Lin .. let’s see if Lin gets heated up soon

  • your son’s voltaire

Lin had a chance to swipe down on kobe’s face. didn’t do it

  • That offensive rebounding+putback by MKG is huge

  • Lefon Jang

Did I just see Hawes dunk???

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    assist by Lin?

  • John Focker

    ALL CLASS.

  • cshot

    assist? lol

  • redking79

Great tap by Lin. Outstanding court awareness!

  • Alain Gervais

it was but idk if he will get it

  • sport

Does that tap pass count as assist?

  • Lin should’ve gotten that assist!

  • Rick Johnson

Should have gotten an assist though

  • yellowshadow

did not credit lin with assist :

  • your son’s voltaire

let’s just assume he doesn’t get credited for it just because it’s him

  • nope.. but it should!

it was too quick to see

  • TTNN

    he got it

  • travis

    They gave him a rebound

  • your son’s voltaire

oh dayum. Lin DID get credited for a rebound and an assist! sweetness

  • Rick Johnson

Oh ya they just changed it

  • TTNN

    it counted

  • cshot

    yayyyyyy credited!

  • yellowshadow

    lin double double alert?

  • sport

Finally they gave that assist to Lin! For sure us fans would email NBA and correct that error and annoy them to death if they didn’t count that!

  • heart

KW kept looking for his shots. As pg, he hasn’t set up anyone for easy shot.

  • yellowshadow

yo, i really like MKG and his hustle. when lin gets healthy, that’s gonna be some fearsome lockdown defense.

  • grover chang

    MKG hustlers. Respect his effort.

  • your son’s voltaire

all i know is Lin shutting Lou down. that’s difficult to do

  • kemba and lin are both 2/9. don’t forget that kemba’s injured too.

  • grover chang

    Yeah Lou not bad.

  • ok, good… for a while it was not showing on ESPN Game log
    They corrected it

  • GoJLin!

    Ya! MKG Double Double already!

  • Lin Win

    Really hate this about Lin!
That last possession was an easy 2 by Lin but he passes the ball to Kemba to airball.
Lin has to be confident at shooting even if he knows his ankles are affecting his game.

  • yellowshadow

lou is scared to shoot when lin is guarding him

  • your son’s voltaire

i’d say, he’s their best player

  • LinMad

Lin not shooting well. His ankle is bothering him.

  • sport

Bad shot and air ball by Lin ouch.

  • wow.. Lin’s shot is very off tonight; he might want to get closer shots

  • hm, Kemba’s shot is also off 2-9

  • your son’s voltaire

    Lin 2-10, bad shooting night
    Kemba 2-10, not bad!

  • John Focker

You seem to hate most things Lin these days.

  • Lin Win

Lin’s shooting isn’t his ankles for sure! His accuracy is way off!

  • sport

Lin definitely not himself, taking things easy and making mostly rebs and assists.

Just hope he would at least go for 15 points.

  • NONONO

Lin should avoid jump shots. he was not supposed to play today.

  • LinMad

lol that’s how i feel sometimes at ATH

  • John Focker

Kemba reverting to his norm, Lin’s shooting off bum ankle. Yeah, haters and Kemba apologists.

  • NONONO

    Injury bothers.

  • Epie

Hi Lin Win, how many times are you going to repeat that tonight?

  • Lefon Jang

Kemba taking advantage of Russell’s slowness

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Whatever form his shooting is, I hate it. I want the old one back.

  • sport

Except Kemba is getting his points at the foul line!

  • Alain Gervais

Its not the shooting form its his ankle

  • Rick Johnson

Can see how Batun’s toe must be messing up his shot too.

  • Dorothy

    Lin out

  • sport

Lin’s out, will he come back in at 4th or is he done?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    It’s been bad all season.

  • LinMad

    ankle is worse than toe.

  • Briiick

Lin is having the highest ASTs of his team, which bodes well for winning.

  • Alain Gervais

    yea it fundamental to shooting.

  • John Focker

Sure, say NOTHING of his five asts. Then you wonder why people see you as a troll. You always ignore the positive and magnify the negative. Didn’t you read the motto of this site?

  • grover chang

Just be the same reason walker shooting badly.

  • yes, I think it’s wise for Lin to shut it down before ASB, too

  • Lefon Jang

    Yeah Daniels

  • grover chang

    Not true.

  • blubell

    6 pts, 5 asts., 5 rebs.

  • Alain Gervais

hard to say. you push off with your toes when jumping

  • NONONO

    Daniels !!

  • travis

    Prob starting the 4th

  • If Hornets get 10+ lead, I don’t think he’ll come back.

I’d like to see him get 10pts but I’d rather see him rest to avoid further injury

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Not today bad but worst compare to his past seasons.

  • John Focker

It’s only gotten bad since after the Lakers game, during which he got hurt.

  • grover chang

    Lin.Daniels.Tyler.Williams.MKG.

  • Maknusia

comeon give him a break…..he is playing injured…

  • travis

Not too worried about his shot ,he scored 20 pts in 2 straight games pretty recently

  • sport

Yes especially when they’re playing Cavs Wednesday!

  • travis

I want to see lin take it to the basket

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Most of Hornets players aren’t 100% and they’re still short handed but Lakers are so incredibly bad. This is a good game for Hornets to practice teamball when your players aren’t 100%.

  • Lin 6pts/5asts/5rebs

Tempting but I think he should rest.
Will be hard to get enough rebs, I think

  • NONONO

I change my mind – Lin 2/10, 5 ast and 5 rebs. Kemba 2/11. Lin should be free to shoot if his ankle is okey.

  • good point..

good time to practice because Lakers can’t score efficiently to make a run

  • grover chang

The starting backcourt is 4/20 and still up by 14. Wow.

  • Good to see HAsnbrough got back in

  • Lefon Jang

Kemba doesn’t know hot to do P&R with Psycho T

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I can’t believe what I see. The bench is actually killing Lakers bench 24:10.

  • Rick Johnson

    Lakers fans booing. Haha

  • LOL .. Hornets announcer defending Lakers
“Crowd getting disgruntled (after Kelly miss) … Give’em a break, they only won 9 games!”

  • Lefon Jang

    MKG too good!

  • blubell

Jeremy gave Kemba a big bear hug.

  • JoeTeam

MKG impressive, good hustle. LOL KW works harder on rebounds vs teammates than what I see elsewhere.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He shot 26% in Nov but you can’t chose the month by month. up to date his 3 pt percentage is the worst since Lin sanity.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Check the stats chang.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

As long as Kobe got his double double, the Lakers would be blown out of the game tonight.

  • grover chang

Good team work. I think walker got the memo to share the ball. He is passing more and understandably making more turnovers since he isn’t use to passing as much.

  • yup.. with healthy Lin, I can see the Hornets making playoff.

    MKG presence is that big!

  • NONONO

It is funny that BS kept looking Hornets team during the break and said nothing

  • Rick Johnson

Cause with 20pt lead he doesn’t need to come back

  • yellowshadow

lakers fans booing their own team lol

  • cdblue10

Hahaha…I just love seeing Scott being frustrated and miserable with the way his team is playing.

  • Briiick

    LOL, that’s the hogging right.

  • Do you see a little kid with Lin Mohawk behind Clifford? Cute =)

  • grover chang

More like he is happy walker is sharing ball more

  • Rick Johnson

    Based on beating the Lakers?

  • I think the grandma had a headband, maybe a mohawk too

  • John Focker

Later he will come up with his classic lie: “a certain Hornets player approached him during the game to express his wish to play for the Lakers.”

  • MoominFloren

    Haha maybe

  • Alain Gervais

did it ever get this bad last year.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Clifford, what’s your problem? Kemba is still out there. Give Brian Roberts some minutes.

  • JoeTeam

    need to fix kw first.

  • they might chant, “No more Scott! No more Scott!” very soon

  • Lefon Jang

    Daniels ! ONe trick pony

  • JoeTeam

well, not that it’s LAL, it’s his work intent that is impressive to me. MKG that is.

  • Hansbrough ripped the ball away from DRussel

  • travis

Stephanie ready very biased towards walker lol

  • grover chang

Walker is sharing. So he gets to stay.

  • good training for teamball
    Thumbs up!

  • blubell
  • grover chang

Yes. As long as he stays with that one trick. Catch and shoot like Novak. I’m good.

  • Rick Johnson

Owes him minutes from last game.

  • Alain Gervais

We have almost double the Lakers rebounds

  • cshot

nope cus lin made it watchable

  • Lin Win

    I laugh at that pass

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lakers is supposed to make a comeback in the 3Q but they’re outscored 25:17.
I love this Laker team and what they’re giving to BS.

  • NONONO

    rebels from Lakers audience. LOL

  • grover chang

Walker deserves praise today. Yesterday hogged ball as usual and sat. Today he shares and plays well, in spite of bad shooting.

  • travis

I think they had a top 10 offense or something like that

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Yes now I do.

  • Rick Johnson

I want to hear “fire Byron Scott” chants

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Love this game. Hornets need more games like this and play against more teams like Lakers.

  • yellowshadow

lakers clearly abhor playing for byron scott. feel bad for them.

  • blubell
  • Weifang

At least it won’t give you bruises

    https://vine.co/v/i5Ex79YqOnx

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    We want MDA.

    garbage time

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • cdblue10

This is how bad BS as coach,Kelly is already sucking and he’s still on the floor

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I’m sure glad that Lin doesn’t have to come back. Let the bench finishes off the pathetic Lakers.

  • JoeTeam

    mkg mw 23

  • Lefon Jang

waiting for Rob Sacre to come in…

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lakers need to send Kobe in for his double double now.

  • sport

Daniels shooting with lots of confidence.

  • golfhacker

    Or put on a disguise.

  • blubell
  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yes they are sitting behind the Gatorade bucket.

  • John Focker

All security guards busy protecting BS 24/7.

  • Lin Win

hahaha cheerign when Ryan Kelly leaves the game

  • Lefon Jang

    all night long PJ

  • Kwok Wai Lai

How could LA fans put up with the Lakers?

  • LinMad

he wants Lin to join the Taiwan team?

  • cdblue10

They need to sub the coach….lol

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    LIn is done for tonight.

  • golfhacker

    He kinda deserved it.

  • Hornets teamball is too much for the Lakers
    91-64 with 8 min left

    25 asts vs 10 asts

    #havemercy #calloffthedogs

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I’m telling you 3 bench players of Hornets are about to be in double figure with 8 more minutes to go.
    An easy win!!!!!!
That’s what the Hornets need to stay at the nineth spot looking in for the playoff berth.

  • yellowshadow

lakers really need to consider hiring thibs.

  • Lin Win

Hornet’s backup/reserves are still destroying the lakers.

  • NONONO

    where is MVP/#1 AS Kobe?

  • travis

    I mean he shot 3/9

  • Dan Ang

Eric Collins: “He has enough time to do his taxes!” XD

  • Kwok Wai Lai

He needs 2 rebound for his double double.

  • NONONO

I got it. he is only there for the show, not for winning.

  • Briiick

if every other team plays their bench players against Kobe and his stat padding assistants, the LA fans will get the picture.

  • travis

Imagine spending a few hundred to watch the lakers lol

  • 808JL7

Enjoying watching this game. Hopefully Hornets can extend 30+.

  • redking79

I’d be feeling sorry for the Lakers if they had any other coach besides Byron Scott and any other player besides Kobe. But they deserve this and it feels good to watch them get destroyed.

  • Lefon Jang

She must be referring to PJ’s shot

  • sport

At this point they’re there to watch Kobe’s farewell party.

  • Rick Johnson

Byron Scott must still think 3’s don’t win Championships.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Who will be the first bench player of Hornets to be in double figure?
    Kaminsky! first

  • Lin Win

Look at Lou being shut down by Lin 1/10

  • zxcvb

This is what I expected from injured Lin — no J, but excellent passing, rebounding, help defense.

He made a big play whenever the Lakers threatened to make it a game. Saving out of bounds for MKG FTs, tapping a rebound to Hawes for a dunk, PnR feed to Tyler for a bucket or FTs.

Glad to see him not needed for the 4th. Rest up and be ready to SHOOT next game.

  • This might be one reason why JLin still strives to play each game.

  • sport

BS slept through GSW’s championship finals last year.

  • Lefon Jang

The tank with the spin move

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Could someone tell Clifford he can take a seat now?

  • yellowshadow

eric “sixers or lakers, who’ll have more wins?”
    steph “oh, the sixers.”

  • Lefon Jang

The tank with a slow motion lay-up!

  • I’m surprised they still embraced tanking with open arms this season

  • sport

After a few more days of rest I hope Lin will be ready for the Cavs!

  • NONONO

NO KEMBA, LIN, BATUM, Hornets is stilling winning…

  • Lin Win

    and blowing them out

  • takemeback2reaganyears

No leader on the floor. Robert is bad.

  • Lefon Jang

    Lakers

  • Alain Gervais

Quite easily as well. The players out there now would see the court if we was fully healthy probably at all except kimensky

  • travis

Seeing the lakers reminds me that lins situation with the hornets isn’t that bad

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • CJSHYY
  • yellowshadow

not even nick young’s usual happy go attitude can be seen on his face. dude dealt with this for so long.

  • Rick Johnson

Kemba back in? All Star selections are over man.

  • John Focker

Hornets announcers being subtly nasty! LOL

  • CJSHYY

Pad his stats… hope Lin can have at least 10 pts.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Clifford must have a problem with BS. Coach Clifford put the first team back in the game except Lin. Looking forward to 30 points blown out tonight.

  • Lefon Jang

Sacre just nailed a shot and the crowd cheered!

  • man, it’s sad to see this Lakers team is so broken.

No defense, suspect shot selection, etc.

  • sport

Young getting the mistreatment for speaking out. Really wish he got traded to a better team. You can tell he has no motivation for playing on this tanking team. Young played well and got along with Lin. It’d be nice if they can reunite next year on team. Too bad Young dislikes MDA? He’s such a fun and great teammate to have!

  • Lin Win

Even the 76ers put up a better fight than the LAkers

  • well, lin had a nice 5/1 Asst/TO ratio!

  • blubell
  • yellowshadow

76s are better team. with MDA as advisor, ish smith having a breakout year and they compete EVERY game.

  • Lefon Jang

Batum must be thinking why didn’t I play this game?

  • Alain Gervais

    Mkg limping

  • 808JL7

    MKG limping off.

  • uh oh, MKG is limping

  • LinMad

why did Cliff keep him in?

  • awesome shot! lol

  • yellowshadow

my YMCA pickup team is better than the lakers

  • Alain Gervais

he look find. but he shouldn’t of been out there

  • Maknusia

they are a better team, almost beat GSW

  • blubell

    Mohawk bald mohawk lol

  • JoeTeam

That dude produced, nice he can have a nice 2nd game to get going late.

  • spiderman

If you ignore the 3pt line, it will disappear

  • someone should photoshop a mohawk on Clifford lol

  • grover chang

    Truth.

  • spiderman

    Not sure it’s sad.
    But well deserved

  • Lin Win

    MKG! He’s got my approval!

  • JLin is standing up, happily cheering his teammates
Harrison hustled for a rebound on the floor

  • heart

Lakers are NOT playing to win. BS will dutifully carry out Lakers’ tanking goal. BS and Lakers org are all about catering to Kobe. Lakers players know this. It’s sad for them that they’re not being coached properly nor giving any kind of purpose for playing, so everyone is playing for himself. IMO, it’s really pathetic that Lin had to come back early from injury to play, so Hornets can strengthen their defense to secure a win from this lowly Lakers team. IMO, winning against the Lakers is not something to be proud of.

  • Alain Gervais

Last year lakers won 21 games. will they win that this year

  • travis

Complete opposite under dantoni young averaged 18 and was rewarded a nice contract

  • MKG has a complete game, especially with a remade shot

I can see playoff now if they continue to play teamball, strong rebounding with MKG/Hansbrough/MW

  • yellowshadow

damn, clarkson looks like he’s crying under that towel

  • Poor Clarkson got his head under a towel.

Lin is cheering and smiling on the other side of the bench.

  • grover chang

Very positive game. Not because they blowed the Lakers out but walker did not hog the ball. Hope this continues. Linsanity was not coming back. No MDA. But if this team could share and play together, they will be enjoyable to watch and I believe Lin will enjoy playing on the team.

  • james brown

he is serious guy with pertains to defense and has “grit” LOL! unlike other players of hornets that are lame with their defense..good addition now and he’s not a chucker, and play teamball!!!

  • james brown

    no more ASG!

  • grover chang

Hope that’s the reason. The feeling on the team tonight felt more like pre-season. Everyone playing a few minutes, sharing the ball.

  • blubell
  • takemeback2reaganyears

Clarkson used to ballhog on Lin too. He was a shoot first no D PG.

  • james brown

lakers commentators are whining that hornets starters are still playing even with a blowout game!!! even said that this is not the supposed way KObe should retire..pathetic!!!

  • hopefully, we get treated with awesome teamball post ASB with a healthy Lin =)

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Don’t worry there are lots of Scott to dry his tears.

  • Hornets will at last get two days off.

  • Lin Win

Easiest game for the Hornets all year!

  • james brown

i thought inverted mohawk by coack cliff, “Hair UP on the side and no hair in the middle”!!!LOL

  • Yascar

    Perfect response! 😊

  • Yascar

They are only on track to win about 15 at the moment and fringe playoff teams will be playing harder and hustling for every win as the season goes on. It may have only get worse from here.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I’m sure 76ers will get more than that but the Lakers will sink more to ensure their lottery pick. They can only keep it if they get the top 3 picks next season.

I still think waiting until after ASG would be good for Lin’s 2nd half. Today was good for MKG, the team spirit, but not really great for Lin. He had to organize D and I guess the coolest thing was his And1 with pT. The 2 for 10 … I chalk that up to coming back early. Shooting is pretty tough on a bad wheel.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Lakers is much much worse.
Hornets will be OK if they stay away from the 76ers.

    (中央社)林書豪戰老東家湖人 布萊恩給他鼓勵

    http://img1.cna.com.tw/www/WebPhotos/800/20160201/17976911.jpg

NOPE. If someone hits you once intentionally to hurt you, you’d think twice. We saw Kobe embarrassed Lin in front of the media during practice; yelled and cursed at him on court; hit and stepped on Lin to hurt him, etc. Many videos went viral bc of those despicable actions. So whatever Kobe speaks about Lin or does to Lin, we know that it’s all about for Kobe himself, not for Lin’s sake…

It’s pretty much the same as what he said in the interview. Like you though, I found the interview a little hard to understand.

Hornets versus Lakers at the Staples Center on Sunday, with Jeremy, injured, playing as a starter. Jeremy had a chance to talk to Kobe, who gave him some advice and encouragement. He said Kobe was very friendly (or “kind,” as someone tweeted).

During post-game interview, Jeremy said he felt pretty good (health-wise), thanked fans who came to cheer for them. Atmosphere at the game was terrific, he said.

Asked about Lunar New Year, Jeremy said they’re playing that day but he expects to get some rest during the All-Star break and to get together with his family. He said his mom is an expert at cooking fried rice and scallion pancake.

He greeted his fans “Happy New Year” in Chinese and thanked them for coming to see them play. His new year’s wish is to keep on improving his game and to enjoy each day. He said he used to worry about the future, but now he’s learned to enjoy what he has.

PJ Hairson was by his side during the interview [having fun based on the picture above]. First he took a bottle of water and mimicked reporters as if he were interviewing Jeremy. When reporters asked Jeremy if he had told his teammates about Chinese New Year, Jeremy laughed and said no because his teammates are not familiar with [the tradition]. Hairston, who was wiping his face with a towel, butted in and said Jeremy did [tell them about Chinese New Year], which had Jeremy laughing. Hairston, hugging Jeremy oven the shoulder, said: “He’s my best friend,” and also said: “Gong xi fa cai.”

  • Acbc

I dislike any bully that is beloved by delusional fans that lets him get away with acting like a horrible human being. What does that say about the values of these fans?

  • Arsenium12 .

As of today, Byron Scott has coached 1069 NBA games, winning 446, for a “win percentage” of .417 .

The table below shows how Byron Scott compares to various groupings of NBA coaches, based on “win percentage.” As you go down the table, the groups get bigger. This is because, for example, those who have coached 1000 or more games have also coached 800 or more, etc. All the data comes from basketball-reference [dot] com.

The data shows that Byron Scott is at or near the bottom of every grouping until you start to consider coaches who have coached FEWER THAN 400 games (about 5 seasons). Even then, he’s in the bottom half of the rankings.

In Los Angeles, Byron Scott has coached 132 games, winning 30, for a “win percentage” of .227 . That would rank him “2nd from the bottom” on the list of coaches who’ve coached 100 or more games.

    Terrible fire.

Before the season started, I wrote that Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight would bring the Suns down. And they have.

What the Suns should do is eject Eric Bledsoe, eject Brandon Knight, eject Marcus Morris, eject Archie Goodwin, think about starting TJ Warren consistently, bring Hornacek back, and TRADE FOR LIN.

I told the Suns ticket representative two seasons ago that getting Jeremy Lin would be better than Goran Dragic and that I didn’t think Goran Dragic was that great. The rep gently and respectfully disagreed with me, saying that Goran was “the future” of the franchise. Well, Goran pouted his way out of Phoenix and Jeremy Lin STILL can help the Suns as their future starting point guard.

I’m not a Suns fan because I cannot stand the selfish clueless injury prone way Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight play. Building a franchise around those is a surefire recipe for utter disaster.

I wish the Suns would get Lin, but they’ll never go for him.

Apply Aesop’s Fable of “Byron Scott & Jason Kidd” to JLIN

Once was “coach”-Byron, who had no success leading team to wins. Along comes young franchise point guard -Jason who was good. Coach, who also as a youngster played guard, told PG do X; PG ignored all the crap instruction from the coach because executing the X would have led to losses; so despite coach – the PG did what had to be done to get wins; and the team knew it. PG got coach fired.
(11 yrs later that coach got a job coaching the worst team in basketball, when asked about that fine young PG who became himself a full-time coach with a much better record – called the PG an “a-hole”)

Main Moral of the Byron Scott Fable? “Solidify respect as a franchise starter first, then control your own destiny.”

Big Picture Lessons for JLIN from Aesop?
    – JLIN must move to his starting franchise PG job next season (almost certainly with MDA) to prove to the world Linsanity was not a fluke.
    – Once he does – even if MDA moves on – JLIN will have protection from coaches and executives who seek him harm because they will no longer be able to minimize his capabilities.

NEVER FORGET: JLIN has Never Said Linsanity Cannot Recur, he has only ever said, “it’s just not possible if you don’t have the ball in your hands”

  • After watching JLin’s ankle made him struggle into 2-10 shooting and missed an easy layup that a healthy Lin would easily made, I can’t help thinking it would be wise for JLin to shut it down in the next 5 games (Cavs, Heat, Wizards, Bulls, Pacer) before the All-Star weekend. Even Batum shut it down when his toe injuries affect his shooting because he can’t really help the team to win.

Then the 1st game post-ASB is against the Bucks on Feb 19 so that would give 18 days (almost 3 weeks) for JLin to recover and finish the 2nd half of the season with strong stats.

The biggest concern is the longer JLin plays injured, the more the lingering injury can be chronic and affect his career.
I love watching JLin help his team to win but not at the expense of his long-term health.
I don’t mind not watching him play in the next 5 games if his ankle heals properly.

I hope someone in JLin Team can give him a good advice.

  • donsmacau

I think the only advice JLIN appears to be taking is the advice coming from Steve Clifford who is imploring/coercing/pleading with him to play regardless of what the future consequences for the ligaments, tendons, muscles are.

  • 66. Jeremy Lin, Hornets (Player option, $2.2 million): Lin’s had a nice season and he’s way outplaying a $2 million contract. But he isn’t enough of a playmaker to be a real point guard, and he doesn’t hit enough threes to be a modern shooting guard. His best role is as an attack-first combo guard off the bench.

This is another reason for JLin not to play hurt and affect his shooting stats.
Last season he had 37% 3FG but of course they don’t mention he is playing through ankle injury affecting his stats.
Or the NylonCalculus that he played well as a PG, not when playing next to Kemba as an SG

  • I believe Lin also wants to play when he feels he can contribute despite not being 100%.
Lin always put team first as his first philosophy.

But when it badly affected his shooting and he can’t really help the team, he should wait before he plays again.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Their goal is to get to .500 before the all-star break not further down.

They need him much more than anyone can realize. Hope these 2 days will help his ankle. Sorry psalm234 but Lin will not sit.

  • donsmacau

Clearly the ankle is way below any performance level
    – his shooting mechanics are off as you pointed out
    – can’t make lateral motions whatsoever
    – made no attempt to attack paint (but 1 missed breakaway layup)
    – barely gets off ground on jumper
    – no explosiveness remains in his first step

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

How is a guy like Greivis Vasquez ahead of Lin as a PG in this summer’s free agent market?,,,That’s ridiculous.

  • He’s very stubborn as we all know it.

I believe he was shooting 40-45% FG up to Portland game so it was okay.
But he’s been shooting 20-25% FG in the Utah and Lakers game. So that is very concerning development.

He knows his body; we can only hope and pray he and JLin team makes the right decision.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Off topic, Mo Williams has been very much DNP-CD since Jan. Wow.

  • very true. It’s notable that his playmaking was still top-notch to run beautiful PnR with Hansbrough and touch-pass to Hawes’ dunk.

But good teams like Cavs and Heat trapping D will try to exploit him to shoot.
I guess we better pray for some miracle if JLin continues to play

  • hm, thumb injury then David Blatt didn’t play him.

  • donsmacau

Clifford wants him in for the “team intangibles” that he brings to any court he plays on:
    – unselfishness
    – decision making
    – court vision
    – P&R ability
    – beacon of hope for his teammates

And of course since Clifford trusts nobody else to cover opposing PG/SG/SF as well as JLIN, Cliff feels even a hobbled JLIN still plays better defense than the alternatives he has.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Wow.

  • Rick Johnson

I remember he wanted to play when the Rockets were in their first playoffs against the Thunder even though he had a chest contusion. He couldn’t even shoot but tried to be useful defending and passing.

  • Rick Johnson
  • Rick Johnson

Westbrook probably just using them to get his market value up like many other FA’s have used the Lakers for. But nobody has actually wanted to go there.

  • sws94

With Batum out, I doubt Lin will miss many games. The problem with shutting Lin down is if they played well without him, he may seem less valuable. Or more likely, if he doesn’t play while Batum is out, the team goes further in the hole. MKG helps a lot, but he doesn’t really facilitate. Kemba is a shoot first guy.

Yes, Lin had problems shooting but he played good D while facilitating quite well. Now with Batum out, for as long as he’s out, Lin has a good chance to get chemistry going with MKG. If Lin and MKG develop chemistry in these 5 games, then Lin’s playing time won’t be compromised much.

So, while Lin needs to get better and I’m all for shutting him down to try to ensure that, I can see downsides to it and upsides if he could play but not make his ankle any worse. Then he’ll get the ASB break to rest his ankle.

Health for Lin first. So if he can’t play or seriously risks making his ankle worse, he shouldn’t.

  • sws94

Still, he looked a thousand times better than Batum did trying to play injured. Batum actually hurt the team with his sloppy and ineffective play in the last 2 games he played.

Truth is, the team knows Lin is hurt. But there’s some honor in going out and playing through that pain if your team needs you. And he did good things out there in terms of facilitating, hustle and defense.

  • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

Out of the 3, I think Luke Walton will get the job.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Westbrook played College ball at UCLA and was born in Long Beach California, so the Lakers are a serious contender for his service…..He’s also a big market type of player who likes the big lights of big Cities.

I’m convinced this is where he ends up, moreso than Durant who I believe may end up in New York, although the Knicks may have to trade Carmelo to make it happen.

  • Rick Johnson

I think Luke Walton more likely to go to the Lakers. Unlike players there is no salary cap on coaches. Lakers got plenty of money to outbid Arizona. Also he’s an ex Laker and Sportsnet broadcaster.

  • TTNN

I kind of agree with you here. definitely looks like Lin is more effective than Batum, though both of them were injured and limited.

  • Rick Johnson

Let’s hope with two days off his ankle gets a chance to heal for Wednesday’s game. I hope Lamb is back. Seems like with Lamb out JLin ends up playing SG for 2nd unit and Roberts at PG.

  • It’s a tough predicament for JLin.

Playing for the team is what drives his teamball philosophy and it’s very honorable.
But where to draw the limit that it might be wise to rest a few games that he can help the team in the long-term is the gray area? It would be counter-productive to have 40-50% JLin the rest of the season if he keeps getting hurt.

We can only hope that either the coaches, medical team or JLin’s team will help him to make the best decision for the Hornets and his long-term career.

  • TK Wong

Think Lin defended LWilliams yesterday … seems Jeremy basically shut Lou down

  • Sophie Paris

You right but it would mean… too long without Lin. I’d be so bored guys lol

  • Sophie Paris

I remember that too. Feels like yesterday

  • Having Lamb back would help a lot.
Brian Roberts is a hit and miss

  • love must be tough, Sophie lol

besides, you can still watch JLin in suit on the bench :]

  • xeroid

Hornets need Lin for any chance against Cleveland. This will be a preview of playoffs. If Hornets with Lin can shut down LeBron, then they might have chance against them in playoffs. My hope is Hornets beat Cleveland in playoffs and take Eastern Division, that would really show NBA Lin’s value.

  • sws94

If that were to happen, unless Lin scored 25 average, few would say it was due to Lin. It would be MKG on LeBron, Kemba outplaying Kyrie and maybe a mention of Lin off the bench as another factor. The main story would not be about Lin.

  • Sophie Paris

    Love is too tough…

Sure if you ask the cameramen to film him all night lol.

  • Sophie Paris

That would be crazy but I’d love to see that.

  • gum

    Thank you very much.

  • I am The Jason

To be fair, Dellavadova is the better back up right now.

  • Rick Johnson

He made his first and only basket after JLin sat down. Before that Lin guarded him pretty well.

  • TK Wong

Lou is Lakers 2nd highest average scorer behind Kobe. Lou averaging 40% FG this season … yesterday only 10%

  • rookie75094

Sophie…you can loop linsanity on your TV 24/7 … hehe

  • John Focker

To calculate the REAL 3PT % one needs to take the bummed ankle period out.

  • John Focker

Sure, never mind the bummed ankle. But of course you know more about how that ankle feels than Lin himself.

  • John Focker

Suns fire Jeff Hornacek. Sure, putting all the eggs in one Bledsoe basket and pissing away Dragic, and the Morris brothers’ pressure cooker were all Hornacek’s fault. And ESPN writer Kevin Pelton has the balls to pin it on Hornacek for not tanking (EDIT: not tanking two years ago), guess Suns should’ve hired Byron Scott before Lakers did. SMH

If anyone should be fired it’s their GM Ryan McDonough.

  • Acbc

If a coach leaves it to a player to decide, most would almost always choose to play. Athletes by in large all feel they are bulletproof. That’s a byproduct of their immense self belief and unbridled faith in their bodies. Unfortunately, coaches need to think for them. A boxer for example would always want to fight on, but his coaches and training will throw in the towel becuase they fear for his life. Clifford is not and does not care about Lin’s long term career. He’ll use Lin until Lin drops dead if need be. That’s my opinion. Why do you think they don’t play Batum? They are thinking long term for him.

Batum not playing is also in his own head IMO. That’s something I’m going to write about soon. Honestly Lin is being mistreated but there’s nothing we can say that will ever change Lin’s mind. I couldn’t even watch the last game because I actually fear for his ankles. I just can’t bear to watch again him going down again.

  • yes, McDonough decision to trade for Isaiah Thomas from the Kings to Phoenix was certainly bizzare.
It angered Dragic and destroyed Dragic/Bledsoe chemistry that Dragic originally bought.

I live in Phoenix and just don’t like the direction of the ownership.
First, it was being very cheap then all the nonsensical direction.
That’s why I don’t want JLin to come to the Suns.

Nash doesn’t appear to want to come since he enjoys his family time, not 2 years into retirement

  • John Focker

Sure is nice to make a mess of things and then fire someone else for your own mistakes. Not to mention Sam Hinkie who was paid handsomely to fail. Where do I sign up for these gigs?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Root for Brooklyn and Cleveland tonight.

  • They look up to Byron Scott as their role model =)

If people can specialize in tanking to be paid, they can survive in the NBA.
I guess it’s not about winning, it’s just about who you know to cover up for your failure in the NBA

  • that’s true. Another lessons learned for JLin to be careful in being a backup PG in a contender.
They might end up not playing due lack of PT

  • yes, when the narrative is “it’s not JLin role”, then the publicity will try to fit the narrative

  • John Focker

Sorry, my bad for not being clear. I meant not tanking two years ago when they barely missed the playoffs.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Deleted.

  • John Focker

Someone claiming to have inside source in Charlotte spills the beans on an alleged agreement between Excel Sports Management (Kemba and Al) and Hornets. The agreement calls for Hornets letting Kemba statpad to raise market value, and in return Excel will help trade Kemba somewhere else (Utah amongst others) for someone else. The timeline for the agreement was MKG’s return (originally mid-late January). Between Kemba missing ASG and his subpar performance in the last Utah game, Charlotte feels they’re being duped into sinking deeper with Kemba (and maybe even Al’s retirement contract).

Charlotte may be trying to get rid of the Excel brothers Kemba and Al in the same fashion Phil Jackson is trying to rinse off CAA influence at Knicks. Batum’s issue is easy because he’s on an expiring contract, so if he doesn’t behave Charlotte would have no problems stinking up his market value during the second half of the season. Same logic to applies to Al Jefferson whose contract also expires this season (which may have partially prompted Excel to pull the Kemba statpad trick, to use as leverage for Al’s next one. They did the same to get Kemba’s current fat one using Al). If Hornets can’t fool any team into taking over Kemba’s contract, worst case scenario they may get rid of him at a loss (cash and/or picks).

Bottom line, Charlotte is trying to move away from Kemba/Al and change their style. Clifford’s freezing Kemba in 4th after the Utah game (ASG roster cutoff) is NOT coincidental.

The alleged inside source claims MJ’s vacation trip to China (partially to avoid Excel reaching him via Ewing, forcing them to deal directly with Cho and Clifford, whom were often circumvented) may be opening doors for Jeremy, and we’re seeing subtle signs of the ball club leaning towards our boy. It’ll be interesting to watch if MJ signs any big deals with China during CNY, and what happens before the trade deadline.

    There WILL be drama.

Taiwan forum site. The alleged source sounded more like he’s on the Hornets’ side rather than Excel’s. There’s the possibility of him being associated with Cho’s team.

It is also speculated that Lin may have been IN on all these from the start.

  • donsmacau

Those Taiwan websites have been coming up with hairbrained ideas to justify “inexplicable” events this WHOLE season.

How could this be legit? Seem’s a bit too conspiratorial to be true since the Hornets have essentially designed the team for Kemba getting rid of players he didn’t like or weren’t really useful for Kemba’s style of play.

Since when does a Taiwan website have a USA inside source before the NBA has that source.

  • Rick Johnson

Have they made any previous correct predictions?

  • Dorothy

My main suspicion about that Taiwan site is they completely ignore the fact that Jordan signed a shoe deal with Kemba last summer.

  • John Focker

While we’ll never know whether the source is legit, it’d still be fun to watch events unfold in the next two weeks. Makes sense and explains weird happenings with the team, even if the guy’s a fraud he’s at least a VERY FINE CHEF cooking stuff up. 🙂

  • donsmacau

True, when Kemba stops wearing Jordan’s shoes – then and only then might something be up.

  • Rick Johnson

  • donsmacau

The stat-padding for Kemba was absolutely a real “thing” but it’s an Occam’s Razor situation – the easiest answer is usually the correct answer and that is – they wanted Kemba to be an All-Star – end of story.

The other anomalies are mostly because Clifford coaches with no rhyme or reason.

Taiwanese love JLIN as much as any one of his other fansites – they want him to be the main man and for the Hornets the main man is Kemba, as long as there’s a Kemba in CHA, then JLIN is a bench scrub.

  • Whitman Lam

Yeah, they also said Lin would be traded to Chicago Bulls soon.

  • guest

Jeanie will get Phil Jackson as the GM once his contract is done in New York.

  • Rick Johnson

That might have gone up in smoke with Joakim Noah getting injured. Took away the Bulls trade chip.

  • John Focker

IF (obviously a big one) Kemba gets traded then everyone will be shocked, myself included. Difference is that me and some fellow fans here will be pleasantly shocked. 🙂

Also, I do believe Hornets were genuinely pursuing a Hayward deal (it was a real thing in 2014), which led to the 52pt game.

  • donsmacau

Quite sure you won’t find anyone on this site who wouldn’t be pleased, but I don’t think anyone is gonna hold their breath.

  • yellowshadow

he wants jim’s spot, not mitch’s spot.

  • yellowshadow

they need to fire byron if they want to start anything. he’s history’s #2 worst coach of all time and the worst coach to coach the lakers. they can get the brightest stars, but if they are inhibited by the worst coach, it does no good.

  • JoeTeam

This is about the same as the stories about LeBron and Blatt, so it’s not just Taiwan sites.

  • sport

Exactly! MJ’s not going to trade away a player he just signed to his shoe brand! Not to mention they were promoting Kemba for all-star. This all just sounds like wishful justification of Hornets misusing Lin. Whether or not Lin will stay in Hornets will depend on whether he gets to be a starting point guard. There’s no way Lin will miss out on his chance to finally reunite with MDA.

  • guest

Yes, but he is engaged to Jeanie. Unless they break up, I can’t fathom why Phil Jackson wouldn’t want to be part of the Laker’s Organization in the future. New York is good training until he takes over Lakers. imo

  • Briiick

BS is just doing what he is told, not saying he is a competitive coach though, I dislike KB more.

  • yellowshadow

hornets have no chance of beating cavs with all the injuries. cavs are better at every position and they are playing HARD to get rid of the rumor that lebron got blatt fired. we will get bullied inside like in utah game.

  • yellowshadow

they will keep byron on board until 2017 when the BIG BIG FAs will be available. there, they will tell them, “come to the lakers. you can pick ANY coach you want.” boom. byron replaced. boom. big name FA comes to lakers.

  • yellowshadow

he is throwing everyone under the bus and saying its not his fault. not even the sixers threw their players under the boss when they were tanking.

So many hardcore Lakers’ fans ridiculed JLIN when he said the time he spent with the Lakers was the most difficult he’s ever had in the NBA.

Most of that was a direct result of BS messing around with JLIN.

Now young guys like DeAngelo Russell are getting the exact same treatment from BS and the Lakers fans are finally turning on Scott – that’s the difference between a #2 pick and JLIN I guess.

  • donsmacau

Yes there’s many over 30 NBA players MKG, Big Al, Kemba and a few who have since been traded but the large majority have never been Charlotte players.

  • John Focker

I know, it was a rhetorical question. 🙂

Strangely, when I was looking things up, I didn’t see Kemba’s name listed as Jordan brand’s athlete.

You’re going to lose? I told you guys last time about D’Angelo Russell, having spend so much time with him during the draft. He might be the best passer I’ve ever seen. He’s still playing tentative because he’s looking over his shoulder, coming off the bench. If Byron would just say, ‘Russell I don’t care if you turn the ball over 15 times, you’re going to play 35 minutes a game so go for it, just go for it’. And D’Angelo Russell will figure it out, he really will. He understands the game. He’s smart too. That’s one of the things that blew me away – his basketball IQ and how smart he is about the game. He is one of the smartest players that I’ve had.”

  • kauaiblue

What was clifford saying to jeremy at 5:25?

  • Rick Johnson

I thought Morey was stat padding for Harden. I think it came out that part of Harden’s compensation was even tied to whether he made the All Stars. Rockets wouldn’t structure a deal that way unless they had a strong desire for him to make the All Stars. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch for Morey to tell McHale that we wan’t him to make the All Stars, feed him the ball to keep his stats up.

  • John Focker

And here I thought the brachiosauri were extinct. It took people A FULL YEAR to realize BS is irresponsible and shifts blames? LOL

  • rookie75094

    No hover hand. ..hhmmm

  • Briiick

Agreed. I was trying to say that the “theory” about Hornets’ padding KW for sale was just as wishful as Morey’s padding Harden for sale. The arguments in the two articles have so characteristically little common sense that I speculate they are from the same person.

  • donsmacau

Exact same stuff BS pulled on JLIN.

They are horrible and that is why BS is paid to coach to make them not so horrible but he does NOT have the coaching skills to so.

I’m wondering if the reason he isn’t fired already is because in fact the Front Office indeed wants to tank but they know BS is so bad as a coach at producing wins, that therefore nobody can accuse them of deliberately tanking.

  • yellowshadow

i think they are keeping scott as a trade bait for FA in 2017. they can tell the FAs, “hey, come to play for the lakers. let us know which coach you want and we’ll make it happen.”

  • grover chang

I think Psycho T is a great nickname for him. Love it whenever he is on the court. He reminds me of Dennis Rodman. Could be compared to much worst.

  • james brown

if he focused on his off and def rebounds more, he is the right player for the hornets now because they need that kind of player..tough center and willing to sacrifice his body for the team!

  • kauaiblue

Awesome. If Jordan decides to build around JLin and MKG, I see Psycho T as a major contributor. This team could be good if Jordan, Cho, and Clifford wake up and see what’s right in front of them, while getting rid of Hawes, Batum, and Walker, and bring in some good pieces around JLIn.

  • james brown

    wishful thoughts :

sometime we need to use history as a basis but not as The Proof..People learn and people change, what happened before might not happen today because one learn to accept that the wrong move before CAN be corrected.

as other poster here always charged that MDA was not loyal to JLIN before , and upon assuming MDA want another Guard during JLin tenure with MDA , can’t Be a living testimony that MDA will do that again, simply because he learned that as much he wanted to find the right PGuard for him, he knew now that he doesn’t need to look anywhere again because its already in front of his face a LONG TIME ago..

Much that i would like to think that coach cliff is the right coach for Jlin now, i’m assuming that he’s still learning now and might cross the same path as MDA has thought sometime ago (MDA was wishing for another marquee PG in DWill), and might be thinking of the same thing that MDA has before when JLIN was playing for him…..simply because learning are by product of future knowledge!

  • kauaiblue

Psyco T and MKG have overnight made this into a tough front court…

  • grover chang

Jordan had himself, Pippen, and Rodman. Psycho T could be Rodman but I don’t know where you get Pippen and Jordan. The one thing I give Lin like Jordan is the fierce competitiveness and beating people on both end of the court. There is no modern Jordan, but who is the modern Pippen? Closest in my mind to Pippen is Leonard.

  • TTNN

so you take Forum as some kind of source???

  • Whitman Lam

Bulls have been shopping Gasol around.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I don’t think it’s possible for them to build around Lin because money is already locked up into Kemba and he’s been the face of the franchise for a while now.

Also, while Lin is having a nice year, he will have to play much better to force the Hornets to change direction when it comes to who to build around.

I think Lin will have a better second half of the year but I’m still not sure it’s easy for the Hornets to change the face of the franchise.

Maybe there’s a small chance that if Lin finishes the year strong and Hornets make the playoff, the Hornets might think about making Lin a major part of their franchise…I also believe guys like Kemba and Batum would have to falter or Lin would have to grossly outplay them for Jordan to want to make Lin part of his core players.

  • your son’s voltaire

    silly

  • Lefon Jang

Michael Jordan is a businessman, he knows the marketing value of Lin. Clifford already knows what Lin can do on the floor. Kemba is only getting 12mil/year. I don’t think the Hornets will sign Batum. So with the salary cap increase coming next year there’s plenty of room for Lin. But will Lin want to stay with the Hornets knowing that he’ll not be the PG?

  • his ankle looked strong here :]

  • It took desperation of losses, injury and fear of getting fired for MDA to reach the end of the bench to create Linsanity which had no precedence before so it was a special situation. MDA oversight was quite understandable IMO

Clifford currently experiences 2 out of 3 (losses and injuries) but no fear of getting fired yet. Similar but yet slightly different.

It’s almost like the quiet before the storm because Clifford knew what JLin can do & heavily relied on him with heavy minutes but mostly on rebounding and defense but Kemba politics/pre-All Star push has dictated a different direction. Now injuries slowed down JLin but we saw flashes of PnR brilliance plus 11 assists. Kemba’s number has been dialed back in the past 3 games. The tide is slowly turning towards teamball and defense with MKG, Hansbrough and Williams plus 50% of JLin as a floor general.

It will only take a 100% healthy Lin, unselfish teammates, strong rebounders and a winning streak necessary for playoff run to unleash another Linsanity storm. I don’t know if it will happen as a Hornet but I can’t wait for a strong 2nd half post All-Star break by JLin as we all know he could do.

Man, where did you get this stuff….sound like a movie script to me……Kemba is unlikely to go anywhere this year and I’m certain Utah would not take Kemba…They have Burke who is young with potential and they have Exum who got hurt but will be back next year.

I also don’t think they’d like Kemba shoot first mentality, specially when they are so used to the pass-first guy like John Stockton.

Exactly!…I’m sure if such a thing was going on inside the Hornet hierarchy, some of the beat writers or other media personnel within the U.S would be reporting it before a Taiwanese source.

We shouldn’t get our hopes up on this….This franchise is build around Kemba and since the Hornets have a chance of making it into the playoff, I doubt the Hornets would all-of-a-sudden trade the face of their franchise….If they do it, it would be in the off-season.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

What are the weird things that you’ve seen happened that leads you to believe this story might be true.

Also, every teams always tries to get their own players to make the All-Star Game..I believe the Hornets haven’t had an All-Star player for a few years now…..so them propping up Kemba’s stats doesn’t necessarily means they are doing it to trade him…They simply want an All-Star player on their team because it makes the team more attractive to the fans and brings in more business and money for the team and player alike.

JLIN “glad I’m healthy still and looking forward to next game”

Don’t mind this 30 gallons of ice that my ankle is soaking in, when I say I’m healthy it means that I’m still able to stand upright as a hominid and loco-mote on my own power.

  • Maknusia

where is the game report? 😉

  • kauaiblue

Well, jlin has proven he can drive the ferrari… just give him the dam keys for once for good… and with the stats to back his stuff up… there r plenty of players who got bugger k’s than walker and were out of the league in a few years… so, walker is totally expendable… if jordan is smart, well then, watch out… he will instatntly gain 1 billion additional customers… lol

  • kauaiblue

    Jlin and jlamb! Lol

  • Brent Yen

    And without knees……..

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Jim jumped the boat. He should stick with MDA all the way. Now with the ex-Lakers taking over the organization, the team would be a shame to watch for years and he’s gonna be history for sure. He made a good decision but he let Kobe Bryant and Co. spoil the team and changed it.

Well, everyone can spell the problem of Lakers even when you spell backward, eboK.

Jim would have a chance to success if he fired Kupchak and find a GM that could work with MDA and then build a team around MDA. Ex-Lakers like Magic Johnson, Byron Scott etc all made bad decisions.

Now Phil Jackson has found himself a gold mine in Porzingis and he could use it to calm Melo. With a little luck, he might even make it to playoff. To get to NBA Finals, the Knicks need a super FA; for example, DeMarcus Cousins but still there is no guarantee that they could defeat the Kyrie, LeBron, and Love trio, not to mention the mighty GSW.

GSW is really the most successful team that has built from their draft in the last decade. Any team that could get a championship right after firing Mark Jackson deserves the championship for years.

  • Knees are overrated 😄
    It’s all about strong ankles

  • kauaiblue

This is our fantasy of course… jordan would never use common sense right? Lol

Some time ago I came upon a picture of Jeremy which appeared to be displayed on the side of a building. I was curious to know the location so I took a few minutes to track it down …. an upscale department store in Paris, France (Galeries Lafayette).

It’s interesting that a store that would advertise itself as “The Capital of Fashion” (Capitale de la Mode) would have a picture of Jeremy, but that’s Linsanity for you. Click to enlarge the image.

See if this is the first game Lin as starter PG to lead this team to win. With Psych T, MKG and M Williams, the game will be interesting to watch.

  • Acbc

That’s some grip he has. Don’t want to mess with the claw…. “Not the crawl, the crawl”

JLIN’s only concern at the moment appears to be Clifford’s needs. Clifford needs him to play and then JLIN makes it happen.

  • yeah, after seeing how swollen the ankle was, at least it should be probable ..

I wonder who gave the final injury status.. the medical team or the player

He was on the court and mostly he facilitated passes and tried to stay in front of his man on defense.

His ankle limited his offensive options. This hurt version of JLIN who is trying to protect his ankle from further damage is not the real JLIN and his performances while in this mode will be under his capabilities.

  • JLin is a team player almost to a fault.

  • sws94

Ok, this is not a prediction, I don’t do those, nor a desire of mine as I haven’t made my mind up about this. What if Lin decides to stay with Charlotte for 2 more years or more? Would you guys be very disappointed in him?

I don’t know but I’m hearing a lot of I’m at peace here and my priorities are changing from him and while there was some of the latter previous years, there wasn’t a sense that he was at peace with his situation where he was playing. Clifford seems secure too, so I don’t think he’d be worried too much there. Don’t know if that means he’d sign but just asking what if he did.

  • donsmacau

Chickens have come home to Roost

Kemba’s sore knee now and this Clifford quote crystallizes things.

First game that gripped me in ANGER was when Kemba tried to iso-take over Boston#1 forcing an EASILY winnable gm into OVERTIME. From that point on, we have lost count of exactly many games Clifford has allowed Kemba to ISOHERO in the final 5 min. 4Q driving everyone on the team to extra-super-fatigue-easily-injured-status.

CLIFFORD with his POLICY of allowing KEMBA to isoball to end games CAUSED team’s AVALANCHE of INJURIES.

  • LAJane

The Chinese calendar goes in 12-year cycles so each animal-related year repeats every 12 years. The Year of the Monkey happened to overlap Black History month in 1980, 1992 and 2004. Stars in those days – Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Doctor J, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, etc, – had no problem with this. Apparently they were not so insecure as to fear this coincidence would cause people to think monkeys and black history were in ANY way related. Monkeys are not included on the Black History t-shirts, nor vice-versa…there was no mash-up of images or words anywhere. How did Cousins come up with this paranoid idea? And why did the Kings give in to such bone-headedness?

Frankly, making any kind of deal out of this is ignorance of THOUSANDS of years of Chinese culture and disrespectful if not actually racist towards Asians. Imho.

  • sws94

I don’t know about that. Kemba certainly has been able to play big minutes and seems to have good stamina. Batum is known to be injured and not play through injuries. If you go to Portland’s boards that’s the knock on him. MKG just had a bad injury, these happen. I never thought that big Al was in good shape. Marv seems to be in excellent shape and plays well through injury. Some of the guys do well and some guys just are injury prone. Someone like Wade had many injuries but he just was injury prone, not lacking being in shape.

I’m suspicious of the medical team and trainers. Are they warmed up sufficiently, stretched, massaged, do they have minimum standards and have these guys playing when they shouldn’t be. Why does a guy like Lamb get all this rest where Lin doesn’t and Batum not as much beyond Lin and Batum are more valuable to the team?

Clifford is definitely at fault due to minutes. Lin 40 minutes one game followed by 50 minutes followed by injury. Then rest him one game and play him the next. Now, it was only 21 minutes, but right now I think he’s playing MKG too many minutes and I get very nervous when MKG falls down on his back or hits his shoulders hard anytime. He wasn’t supposed to come back so early and he’s playing big minutes.

  • Dan Ang

What? LOL. That’s your correlation to the amount of injuries on the squad, Kemba’s ISO-ing?

  • DX

There will be so many possibilities. There are 2 major things. 1st, Lin should get better after ASB. 2nd, Hornets try to make the playoff.

  • sws94

Total misrepresentation of what I wrote and that’s your own biases that lead to that. Read again and don’t misrepresent me.

  • sws94

I was wondering if he’s sending signals. Maybe he isn’t. Maybe he’s just happy to play on a team that isn’t tanking and full of divas. Hornets making playoffs is iffy, Lin being good after ASB is very possible with the condition that he is healthier.

  • DX

Lin won’t send any signal until there is confirmed deal. Maybe his agent is dealing with some proposals, but it must be too early to tell. The next contract is all based on Lin’s performance. He is only thing can do now is playing in Hornets and show more talent & ability.

  • zxcvb

There’s a reason he signed a 1-year deal (player option after this season). He’ll 100% leave if there’s a better offer (e.g. MDA).

But Jeremy is a consummate professional and team player, so he’s going to say the right things while he’s here. People read too much into general statements like: “I love my teammates.” “I’m at peace.”

What else is he supposed to say? “Kemba annoys me with his chuckery!” “Too many racists here in the South!” “I’d kick the butts of most star PGs if given the chance!” All true statements…but stupid to say in public. Esp. as the only Asian guy in the league!

  • sws94

No, not solid signals. But he seems more at peace now than I can remember. Of course, last season was one of his worse in the NBA where he was visibly unhappy with the coach, system and Kobe’s style of “leadership”.

  • Dorothy

Exactly, Lin even said this past Sunday that Kobe was really really nice to him. LOL, if we take what he said in book value…

  • zxcvb

Ha! That pretty much says it all.

  • donsmacau

There are real scientifically proven medical studies – attributing fatigue to the likelihood of sports injuries; and as fatigue rises the risk increases – go look it up if you doubt.

My contention is KEMBA through his ineffective take-over of games that could have been WON easily had CLIFFORD not allowed Kemba to go away from teamball to go ISO caused the starters/rotation players to play more minutes either down to the wire and go to OT in many instances.

You know what I SMH at? Kemba who forced so many long games because HE had to WIN it SOLO, now has an issue with his surgically repaired knee.

  • sws94

You may be right and you may be right about MDA. I don’t know. I’m just going by my observations of Lin through the years. We’ll all have different ones I guess. But I’m asking for those people if her does as I said, and signs with Charlotte, how would they feel about that. I’m not saying he’s going to do it. It’s a hypothetical.

  • DX

Yes, last season is the worst. Lin has much better feeling this season for sure. But he did mention himself there is still a lot space to improve and far from his expectation. I think he may stay if Hornets offer a good contract and position. But there is a big chance he is leaving for other teams. BTW, Lin is usually peace since he believe God will arrange for him eventually.

  • Dan Ang

    Very imaginative, Bravo!

  • sws94

I support whatever he does. I’m just asking about one possibility.

  • Dorothy

I don’t read minds. I read words and decide how those words represent the authors’ minds. I believe that is what a written language for.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I’d personally be disappointed if he stays here because that would mean he’s accepting that he can only be a back-up in this league.

I’d be even more surprised if he were to reject the chance to join teams in need of Point guards…Teams like Nets, Knicks, Sixers, Bulls(if they trade Rose)….Even being a back-up on team like Houston and San Antonio may be a bit better for Lin because these teams have either an old PG that will retire soon(Parker) or a PG that is not as high regarded as Kemba Walker(Beverly)…So Lin could get more minutes on these teams than in Charlotte.

Now, I’m aware Lin is currently getting a lot of minutes in Charlotte, but that is simply because of injuries and he’s playing the majority of his minutes as a shooting guard….

It will be interesting to see how many minutes Lin will receive once everybody is healthy…With MKG, Batum, Lamb back, I expect Lin minutes to fall around the 18-22 minutes mark….So Lin will have to figure out whether he will be okay with this type of minutes when he could get more playing for a team that really needs a PG.

  • LAJane

Geez. I didn’t get that from him at all. You find the kind of questions and view points that run through his mind to be annoying, but he’s respectful about disagreement and his posts are thoughtful and not just trollish flaming. I don’t see a need to try to drive him out of this forum. If you don’t like his thoughts, just ignore them.

  • DX

Me too. It’s really hard to guess now. Like Lin came to Rockets, Lakers and Hornets, I think no one expect before it happened.

  • KHuang

I would be disappointed in Lin if he stayed next season at $2 million, and I’d come close to renouncing my Lin fandom if he chose to stay past that for another low salary.

NonAsian NBA players are paid according to statistical production. Lin should be paid accordingly too. He should have been making Danny Green money, or at the least Corey Joseph or Marco Belinelli money at $7 million a year.

No player, including Lin, should ever accept an ETHNICITY SALARY DISCOUNT.

  • KHuang

    I’m not like you entirely.

If Lin accepts another lowball offer after next season, I’m likely OUT.

  • sws94

OK, thanks. That’s an honest reply.

  • KHuang

Not in the eyes of mainstream Americans, no.

  • sws94

    Thanks. All great points.

  • rookie75094

And he is adding fuel to the racist haters. …specifically the ones from kkklutchfans.

  • LAJane

I also noticed his pretty definite comments about how at peace he is, how he’s trying to enjoy his days instead of agonizing so much…and how much fun he’s had this season. It actually kind of surprised me that he made a point of adding in the “fun” part. I don’t think he’s lost a nano-particle of his ambitions, but it seems he really is putting in his maximum work and not wasting energy about future outcomes until the cards are down. Who knows anyway? Will Kemba and Al be traded, making room for him as PG? Charlotte still sort of remains as a seemingly distant potential. But no telling what other offers will come out of the woods. He’ll try to avoid pretty houses built on quick-sand, but he’ll also be looking for a starting job. The wheel is still turning…..

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I somewhat agree with that…The option that is in Lin’s contract is clearly to give him the chance to leave if there’s something better out there…

I also think he won’t hesitate to leave if he’s offered a starting gigs….Even as a back-up in San Antonio or even Chicago, may be better for him as for minutes.

The hornets have its core players set..Kemba, MKG, Batum(if he’s re-signed)…Lin will be simply an after-though….If Lin can keep his stats of 12PPG, I think a team will be willing to make him part of their core players..He won’t be the star, but an important starter.

The best team for Lin, as for winning as soon as possible, is the Chicago Bulls..If they trade Rose, a Lin/Butler back-court would be a dream….

Even if Rose is still in Chicago, you could play Rose/Lin/Butler together since Lin can play the 2 and Butler is tall enough to guard small forward.

Butler is not like Harden in the fact that he needs to facilitate, so Lin can do that while Butler does his thing off the ball.

  • sws94

OK. There are teams I don’t like but I’d still watch Lin. We’d have to deal with a whole different fanbase. Wherever he chooses to go, I’d like at least 2 season there, maybe even 3 or 4. I’d like to see how Lin plays in the same system with the same core of players over more than one season.

  • orLinaryjoe

That is a possibility, but show him some love with money at market rate. $2mill is way under market.

  • KHuang

I judge player according to their production by salary.

Lin at $2 million is the NBA’s biggest bargain. He’s the equivalent of a first class Chinese buffet that serves fresher food and more variety than a 5 star restaurant where the cost of a single slab of beef can serve 3 buffet patrons.

Because Lin is not paid $15 million anymore, I don’t have $15 million requirements though Lin is the same guy. And I felt that Lin more than lived up to the Lakers $15 million given that he was one DNP from being the Lakers’ leading scorer and led in several categories. $15 million players are supposed to outproduce their teammates, $2 million players are lucky to average 4 ppg 2 apg.

Now if Lin is earning $10 million, then I would be unhappy if he was averaging under 10 ppg.

  • KHuang

We’ll see what happens in the offseason.

I expect Lin to have to return to Charlotte at $2 million next season.

  • sws94

I said I’m not predicting nor is that what I desire. So what you say is disrespectful and a misrepresentation. However I comment on Lin, I support him. If I analyze his game differently than most here or see him best used some other way, those are just my thoughts on him and it’s OK for them to be different than others or popular thoughts. It’s just applying how he plays differently. I still love watching him play and feel great when he plays well wherever he goes.

  • LAJane

    Shudder. Nooooo.

  • orLinaryjoe

Nothing suspect on the intentions of the shirt. No hidden meaning or pun intended.

  • Dorothy

A lot of so call “bball expert” Lin hater can also discuss bball without flaming. Not saying he is a Lin hater, but definitely not my type of Lin fan. I don’t know how someone could be so critical about the player yet claim to be a fan.

  • rookie75094

Here is my thought if he resign with the hornets as a bench player…. I will still support him but I will be totally pissed and will be extremely negative towards the hornets.

  • sws94

I see him in a very important “role” here however. In fact, while he may not be long-term, he’s close to core. And I’m reading the temperature of Batum from the online Charlotte Hornet fans posting and they’ve cooled off on their thoughts of Batum and have warmed a lot more to Lin. They like that Lin can play more effectively injured and that he’s a warrior. They are beginning to find Batum “soft” and inconsistent.

Kemba is core, MKG is core and very young (22), beyond that, who else is? Lamb has a ways to go. Kaminsky may be core, but isn’t there yet. Lin can be one of the “veterans” on the team. Not sure if they want to keep Al much longer either.

I’d like Lin to play with better bigs and someone like MKG. So, if he stays I won’t be devastated and take the good out of that but if he goes, I really hope it is to a way better situation that is stable. And to a winning, playoff contending team.

  • sws94

    Thanks.

  • LAJane

You’re a lot like my sister-in-law. She’s a pistol, and I love her…but she’s scary. Once she makes an interpretation based on her own biases, no amount of evidence will un-toast that slice of bread.

  • LAJane

Why are you replying. Let go of the rope.

  • KHuang

Had I been Lin’s agent or family, I would have counseled him NOT to accept Charlotte’s lowball offer and to hold out until an offer of $7 million MINIMUM per season were extended to him.

I’d have counseled Lin to be prepared to sit out the season too.

  • sws94

$2 million isn’t sustainable. He just went for that for now. I think Lin can play it two ways. He can go for his high-production value but then be pressured to produce at that value. Or he can go somewhat undervalue and if he produces at a big rate, then he’s still seen as a bargain. Lin is going to make money in endorsements and promotion anyway. He just needs to find the right range to get paid that works for his priorities and needs and not rip himself off like he’s doing now.

  • Dorothy

LOL, the thing is I am not alone here. If I were the only one held that biases, then yes I might need to un-toast that biases. We have some many posters here, I try to remember those “bad ones” so I would not be fooled by them later. This is my self-protect magnesium.

  • sws94

    Thanks, love your response.

  • KHuang

Lin will learn THE HARD WAY just how “unsustainable” $2 million really is for a player of his statistical production.

I’ve agreed with all of Lin’s moves, but I did not agree with the $2 million deal.

I think that this $2 million deal will badly hurt Lin in future contract negotiations, if there are any.

And endorsements? There are no other NBA players accepting near minimum wage discounts to cash in on endorsements. A player’s base salary reflects what a team thinks of his ability, and that’s why people like Lebron earn the max despite earning far more from endorsements. Just because Lin is Asian and allegedly has Asian endorsements, that doesn’t mean Lin’s ethnicity should undersell him.

  • sws94

Lack of good judgment on my part. And emotion. And I should know better. Thanks, Jane.

  • sws94

It’s a weird chess move for sure!

  • LAJane

Follow Lin’s example – never mind the opinions of others. Serenity now 🙂

  • orLinaryjoe

Well I think last year was different, and an awkward position. He was basically investing in his worth after a year. Well, when the year comes to a close, then the thinking will need adjustment. I believe, the recommendation would be close to what you suggest. Anyways, we’re just along for the ride.

  • KHuang

Lin sacrificed his king to save a pawn.

  • KHuang

Or maybe Lin will MAN UP and OPT OUT the way he should.

Normally a player should never opt out unless he has a better deal in place. But in Lin’s case, Lin should not do that because he is already grossly underpaid.

It’s a matter of principle – and those who stick to their principles GET PAID in the end even if they are Asian.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I expect the Hornets to try to re-sign Batum, so you should add him as a core-player at the moment..They gave up way too much to simply let him leave.

The other issue with Lin staying is the fact that Cliff like playing Kemba/Batum huge minutes and that leaves little time for Lin to work with…

Right now, with MKG back and Batum healthy, Lin will have less chances to finish games, so I can’t see him as a core player in that situation..The guys that will finish is Kemba/Batum/MKG…How can Lin be considered a core player when his path to the court is blocked everywhere by core-players that are dubbed more important and make more money?

This is why joining a team like the Bulls or San Antonio is more attractive even if he doesn’t start…His path is not terribly blocked by a core-player.

Also, the Hornets has offered Lamb a contract, so down the line, they will eventually have to offer him minutes to develop.

  • KHuang

There is NO WAY Charlotte is envisioning any future with Lin.

They have no interest in bringing him back, even if he opts in for $2 million next season.

The Hornets will look to replace Lin with a more expensive but lower producing veteran point guard (e.g. Ronnie Price or Andre Miller or Darren Collison) or draft a PG to replace Lin. That’s even if Lin is still on the roster.

  • donsmacau

JLIN wrote the terms of his deal – this is a deal that HE chose, only reason he agreed to the “Asian Discount” was to lock in the opt-out. JLIN gone season end. Period. End of Story.

  • Yascar

I was actually pretty puzzled when he joined Charlotte at such a low price, but if his purpose this year was to play well, have fun, learn to be better, and try to get his stock up, it’s obviously working. Some people would say that is of necessity because of injured players rather than by design, but whatever…I think it’s fair to say he’s raised his stock and he seems to be relatively happy. I just really hope they get into the playoffs.

I’ve been critical and somewhat surprised at some of his decisions in the past, but after years of following Lin, he’s proven himself to have a good moral compass and a healthy view of of his talents and his life. Whatever else he’s not been, he’s been true to his values and has an unbelievable work ethic. So if he stays, well then you’ve just gotta trust that it’s his life and his career. I’ll support him whatever he does and hope for the best.

His legacy is his journey, up to this point and thereafter. Not this season, or not any other. His true mark to the game of basketball will happen when all is said is done.

  • sws94

Yes, he is still writing his story.

  • LAJane

I dunno. We don’t really know what the other offers were….or weren’t. Any certainty that there was money that was more than middle-of-the-road? Maybe for an even lesser amount of minutes? No matter what, he was gonna come down from the poison-pill bonanza, so anything looks sorta like a demotion anyway. Charlotte HAS debunked all the old cr@p – soft, no D, TO machine, etc. He looks valuable, imho. I don’t know that I see “sacrifice”, exactly.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I disagree…If Lin can continue his current production and get better, they would definitely want to bring him back, although as a back-up who accept that he can only be that…Also, they would want him to sign for as cheap as possible..about 5Mil per year.

I hope Lin doesn’t go for it, but if there’s no offer from other team available to him, he may have no choice.

  • KHuang

I hope Lin’s gone – and so do the Hornets.

  • KHuang

$15 million was a VERY FAIR SALARY for a guy like Lin who led the Lakers in points, assists, steals, blocks, and +/- despite coming off the bench shooting 44 and 36 while scoring double figures.

There is an entire league of NBA players who didn’t dominate in all these categories like Lin did but are earning more.

  • CJSHYY

Well, I don’t see Lin stays w Hornets & I think my answer for his future maybe not popular in here either. My guess Lin will back to Lakers. 5 more months we will know then …. LOL!

  • KHuang

I’d rather Lin play in China than accept NBA racist lowball offers.

  • Dorothy

I don’t mind Lin back to Lakers as long as Kobe and BS are gone.

  • Sophie Paris

Love needs to be renewed all the time.. so does Linsanity lol

  • CJSHYY

They both will after this season.

  • Sophie Paris

    U do? ^×^

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Are you kidding me or are you trolling?…Lin clearly stated there weren’t a lot of interest in him for good money…You really think sitting out would have made him more appealing?..You really think a 7M contract from a team would had eventually materialized?

From what I had heard, the best deal that was there was from Memphis Grizzlies for 3-4Mil which is cheap when you consider the cap will rise.

He did the next best thing which is to sign a deal with an opt-out close so he can test the market again.

  • LAJane

🙂 And…notice, please, the long thread of interesting comments sws94 got going here, including a rare jump-in from our bball guru KHuang. His comment pissed you off, but it was genuine and it produced some good juice.

  • sws94

Lin really isn’t a “backup” in the way others are however. True he backs up but he does it for Kemba and Batum if they can’t go. But if you look at Patty Mills or some other guys that come off the bench, they don’t play Lin’s minutes or close games. Now, I’m not sure Lin will continue to close them with MKG back, in fact it looks more likely he won’t. But, he’s really more a 6th man now than backup PG. And it’s because he’s called on to play SG most that he is.

  • cdblue10

He will stay if Walker will get traded

  • orLinaryjoe

Psalm, you need LAJane as a MOD!

  • Dorothy

it gets going because he asked a flaming question.
No, i love KHuang’s comments and read them like bible, but sometimes I do find them extreme lol

  • LAJane

I wan’t thinking clearly 🙂 You’re right about the 15 mil. Still…what price rep rehab? Not sure where it could have been better accomplished. Diva teammates are everywhere, and coaches who say bad things. Charlotte’s had a high intangible value in that regard…could be naive, but I feel like his value has gotten polished up and everybody knows he’s NOT going to accept being the most undervalued player in the NBA in the next go-round. Again, in my humble/ignorant opinion 🙂

  • sws94

I like that they debunked soft and no D. Lin is a warrior and always has been. I think the TO machine may still be there to some degree, but lesser. Heck, next to Batum, he has few TOs.

  • Dorothy

HaHa, she is good, isn’t she?

  • KHuang

I don’t see how the Lakers could find room in the backcourt with Jordan Clarkson, DeAngelo Russell, Lou Williams, and Nick Young all under contract.

  • orLinaryjoe

Whether it’s by title or not, that’s what she does. On the level.

  • sws94

Why Lakers? What are your reasons for thinking that?

  • KHuang

Under clueless owner Jeanie Buss, the Lakers are still trying to recreate Showtime in order to honor her late father’s dying wish.

Never mind the fact that 80s Showtime where the Lakers outbid everyone else Yankee Steinbrenner style for max contract players is MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE in today’s salary cap NBA!

  • Joe what do you know

While I personally would like to see him opt out and get paid fairly, be it a new contract with Charlotte if he enjoys the city, or take his talent elsewhere in a good system. But if he is happy with his current situation and contract terms, then who am I to judge and decide what is better for him? As long as he remains a high integrity character and does not derail from his current path of righteousness, I will follow him and be the witness of his colourful career til the day he decides to hang up his kicks…

  • KHuang

All season long, I’ve been writing that I don’t think Kobe intends to retire.

I think he’s just HAMMING UP this alleged “retirement” in order to repair his damaged public image that was caused by his self incriminating mistreatment off Lin.

  • KHuang

Hey, disagreeing with Lin does not make your opinion any less valid!

  • adele

I’m with you. He won’t be a starter in this organization unless there are injuries. Also this organization doesn’t think that he is a star and deserves to be in the asg. If Lin stays here, he will say goodbye to asg, championship and even playoffs.

  • LAJane

Hahaha…man you are tough…he’s still toast! Yup, KHuang is SPICY. Maybe sws94 is your unloveable “stinky tofu” (unless, perhaps, you happen to like that stuff?)

  • adele

    Agree 100 %

  • Joe what do you know

Yeah. Thanks for the reminder. I know I can express my opinions regarding his decisions. But I always hold the belief that I’m merely an observer, a witness to his journey. So I’m always kind of reluctant to invest too much emotion in matters that does not have a direct impact on my life…. Many people are too overly passionate in my opinion…. Just my opinion…

  • Brewkowski

Lin needs to play in the best basketball league and not kowtow to any perceived racist actions and lowball offers.

  • sws94

If he goes to San Antonio, what’s his role and position? He might just go and replace Manu if Manu retires. I think Mills stays backup PG (and he’s really good) and Parker plays 2 more years as starter at least. Of course, stable organization, great coach but tough coach.

Chicago is good. I’m not sure of Hoiberg and Noah is now someone needing to leave the team. But Butler is a major star and his style of play is good for Lin. Gasol is a good big man. Both are good for Lin though Gasol is getting up there in age. Right now, they are unstable an organization as Butler doesn’t seem to be crazy about Hoiberg.

  • Briiick

Lin feels being treated better because Hornets are putting efforts to keep Lin since Batum’s chance of returning gets smaller. I still believe the size of his next contract is the key. If he gets the largest contract in the back court, he won’t be forced to play off the ball. If not, even MDA may not be able to play him correctly. We have seen what MDA did to Nash when Kobe played in the same back court.

  • Sophie Paris

    Yep that’s a huge store ^^

  • LAJane

I know you wouldn’t say it if you weren’t feeling it…but sitting out a whole year at age 27 seems more like basketball suicide to me.

  • KHuang

I don’t think people are being “overly passionate” when it comes to the hateful way Lin is treated and paid in the NBA.

Asian Americans are known across the board as having to earn less money for the same amount or less work done by nonAsians. What Lin goes through with being mistreated and being paid unfairly, A LOT of Asian Americans go through.

I feel that it’s very healthy for Lin to have clawed his way onto the world stage. With the racism against him in full public view, that’s the only way change can be made if it’s at all possible.

  • blubell
  • CJSHYY

Last summer Lin said he will have two teams w starter job to consider… he wants to know which one will be the real starter job… something like that in China interview… I guess that two teams it’s Rox & Lakers. W Rox no offer & Lakers couldn’t get any good player… then Ciff showed up w the plan for Lin to play his game….We all know the history….

I believe this summer he will back to Lakers bc BS & Kobe both will be out. Lakers maybe can get good player to come… Plus He likes LA w his family & friends.

  • adele

Just disregard him Dorothy. Me and Heart knows his intentions. I ignore him too.

  • Dorothy

but isn’t there rumors that Lakers are eyeing Westbrook and Durant in 2017>

  • KHuang

I took my stand against race based bullying long before Lin was born.

I threw punches and kicks at anybody who came after me physically to hurt me. And I didn’t care if I got sent to detention.

After I literally cracked a few heads and busted up a few arms, that largely solved the issue.

In high school where the penalties for fighting were much higher, I was physically attacked to a far lesser extent but couldn’t retaliate. But I inadvertently SOLVED the problem.

In my junior year, I started carrying a thin black Samsonite plastic BRIEFCASE. I did it because it kept my papers flat and kept me focused on academics. But people saw that briefcase and FREAKED OUT. All the bullies thought I was gonna bash them with the briefcase – and I definitely would have had they come after me!

I don’t care what anyone says – VIOLENCE WORKS.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Great thing about it is you had not.

  • CJSHYY

I guess KD maybe will go to Lakers but that report about RW it’s from the reporter who always sounds like paid to do it… you know just like Dragic, Beldsoe. Lakers wants Asia market, they want Lin.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

It against the rule to draw a deal in place before the player declares opt out.

  • Dorothy

I love love stinky tofu !!!

  • LAJane

It did seem an unexpected comment, didn’t it? Kobe seems to be trying to rehab perception of his awful personality at the moment, so maybe he was in fact nice enough. It seems to me Lin gets asked lame Lakers questions by the Chinese press. He always sort of rolls his eyes and tries to come up with something bland. I don’t blame him for trying to put to bed the idea of awkwardness with Kobe. Smoggy useless old story.

  • blubell

Jeremy is just trying to see the good in people. There is nothing wrong with that.

  • blubell
  • The short answer is “It Depends” =)

    1 Will Kemba be there?
2 Will there be better offer as a starting PG somewhere else?

I have no doubt JLin enjoys the team camaraderie in the Hornets but at the same time he hopes to start (“All players want to start”, “Linsanity happens when I have the ball in my hands”) and still has the same goals (starter/All-Star/Ring)

I will only be disappointed if JLin has a chance to realize his dreams to start somewhere else but choose to stay as a backup (although judging from his quotes, he still wants to start given the chance). But I’ll get over it and still support him since he’s already an All-Star in real-life helping so many people.

But if NBA doesn’t make any offer, how can we be disappointed in Lin? As long as he does his best to fulfill his best potential, that’s the best that we can hope for him. At the end of the day, he and his family would have to make the decision. We can only be here to support him.

  • sws94

  • TTNN

I like this author, very knowledgable and pretty fair. And i agree with him.

I don’t think he said Lin won’t work with the team, it is more like if we have Kemba, it will be too expensive to keep Lin. Which I agree.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    1.5 year too late.

  • JLin stats in a Starter/Reserve split is astonishing.
    12% better in 3FG%? 17pts/4.4asts?

To me, it offers further proof that JLin is a rhythm player, the more time he has handling the ball (PG/SG) the better he shoots

    Starter: 17.2pts/4.4asts with 40.5% 3FG, 44.8%FG in 35.4 min/gm
    Reserve: 10.9pts/2.9asts with 28.4% 3FG, 40.8%FG in 25 min/gm

Reminder of how much basketball is a BUSINESS, since the analysis has much to do with who is already seen as a business/cost commitment and who fits into the business plan. After that, actually winning seems to come in second place. Seems to me he basically comes to the conclusion Jeremy is too good to have a place in this business plan. Over-qualified.

  • This is like a 3-week notice in the NBA

  • sws94

Yes, your wording more represents his conclusion about Lin than what I wrote. Thanks.

  • TTNN

He does seem to be at peace a lot more than his previous years. But don’t you think that’s his mind set changed instead of his environment effect? Could also be an element that he know if he don’t like it, he got a chance to change it?

Yeah, I agree with you that I don’t think he’d be worried too much there.

But I don’t think that’s has any indication whether he will stay or not.

  • orLinaryjoe

“Is there any team in the league which is getting as much bang for the buck as the Hornets are from Jeremy Lin on a 2-million dollar contract? That signing alone has created possibly the best point guard duo Charlotte has had since the inception of the Hornets back in 1988. Obviously, Lin is over-qualified to be a definite back-up point guard, one who gets burn only when the starter sit. That’s why only 32.2% of his playing time has come in his primary point guard position, per Seth Partnow’s estimates over at Nylon Calculus.”

  • sws94

A lot of it is his mindset. But I think the environment there doesn’t challenge his mindset as much as in previous places. And he’s gone deeper into it now.

I found his decision to join Charlotte a huge surprise so how he’s acting now may not have any bearing on what he chooses to do next season. I guess I was wondering aloud if it may. At any rate, happy to see him more at peace this season, especially contrasted to last.

  • blubell

Lots of quotables in that article. I enjoyed reading it.

  • Excellent article & analysis.

A lot of Nylon Calculus stats of JLin as the PG
“..19.3 points and 5.8 assists per game as a point guard but only 15.2 and 3.2 as the shooting guard, per Nylon Calculus.”

Hope this gets to be in the hands of many GMs in the off-season.
This is why JLin moved from Lakers to Hornets as a better system.
Although he’s not full time PG, his stats show the full-potential.

So Lin fans – let’s revisit this important topic for today – where will JLin be next year?

76ers – Don’t need him. Think they are very happy with Ish. D’Antoni will probably be headed to Phoenix

Suns- Assuming Mike D’ is hired, they will have to get rid of Bledsoe and Knight so not too positive. I have the view that any point guard would love to stay through a D’Antonio tenure.

Lakers – Could be a fit. Jeanie will likely want J Lin back (due to business purposes). The issue is Phil Jackson will likely be back in some capacity and will want to use the triangle which J Lin is not good at.

Rockets – Maybe but why would J Lin want to revisit.

Nets / Chicago – questionable. Has not shown much interest in the past (don’t know if rumors abt. Chicago wanting Lin are true.)

My conclusion is Hornets is probably most likely destination but with Kid Gilrchrist back what happens to Lin? If they do not give a max offer for Batum (He will go to TO) than Lin can start at SG but alongside Kemba, it might still not work out… SO much uncertainty .. SMH

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Still, I think 76ers owner would be a fool to let Sam Hinkie and Brett Brown to run the team more than this season. MDA has proved to be a real positive factor and the team responses well with a new offense. The owner will be a fool to let MDA go. This is the only chance for 76er to get back into contention. Hire MDA as the head coach for next season and let Brett Brown finish this last season would be a wise choice.

Once MDA is put into the driving seat, the first one to strengthen the team is to add JLin to his roster which could help the team so much in various ways. Ish Smith and Jeremy Lin are the best undrafted players in the same year. The team needs more than 1 PG to compete in NBA for the whole season. JLin’s versatility will ensure the team in contention for a long long time. 76ers can use both for their team.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

First of all, Lin did not deserve to go to the All-Star this year..I don’t understand Lin’s fan obsession with him playing in the ASG this year…He simply didn’t have the number.

On the other hand, I believe Lin is good enough to be a starter in this league and shouldn’t cut himself short by staying on a team that only sees him as a back-up.

Lin can easily average between 14-16PPG and 5-7 assist per game if he were to start and allowed to facilitate…Those stats-line are good enough to start on half of NBA teams.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

My hope is Parker retires as soon as this year is over…Wasn’t he thinking about retiring during the past summer?

Even if Parker comes back for another year, he won’t play more than 25minutes per game…He’s currently averaging 26mpg…So that leaves a lot of minutes for Lin at the back-up PG spot, unlike in Charlotte where Kemba eats up at least 32 minutes at PG and leaves very little minutes for Lin.

Lin can also play a few minutes at the 2guard spot, so he would definitely get more time as a Spurs than as an Hornets where you have 3 core players suffocating his minutes.

  • sws94

Parker isn’t going to retire and Mills is the back-up PG. Ginobili may retire and Duncan. Manu is 38 and Duncan is 39 but turns 40 in April. I don’t think Lin plays PG if he goes to the Spurs. I think they use him like Ginobili.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Does the sixth man award counts the statistics of the player when he starts….Lin is averaging only 10.8 point when he comes off the bench…but that jumps up to 17.2 points when he starts….So for the most part, his stats has been accumulated when he starts instead of when he comes off the bench.

  • kauaiblue

No, this is much bigger than him… being asian in america is not easy, especially if u r poor…

  • sws94

Yes. For the season. He just needs to come off of the bench more games that he starts from what I understand of it.

If things don’t work out, no big deal. Look at Shaun Livingston – I think 10th team since his injury. He’s doing great. So will Lin just stay the course and make sure you get to play your game somewhere.

After 2 days, Jeremy Lin is no longer listed in the injury list. Will MKG, JLin, Kemba (sore knee), MWilliams and Tyler Hansbrough be able to pull an upset against LeBron James and the #1 seed Cavs in the Eastern Conference?

    1. The Cavs have won 5 straight after dropping the 1st game under Coach Tyronn Lue including an impressive win against the San Antonio Spurs.
    2. Will JLin find another good bounce-back game after shooting 2-10 along with Kemba in last game?
    3. Will his ankle affect his drives to finish his layup and overall shooting form?

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s pray and hope that he manages to be 100% healthy soon before to help the Hornets to win

  • yellowshadow

LAjane, America is currently reeling from the rift from the white on black cop violence. during the black history month, a sacred month for the african american community in remembrance of all the people who fought for civil liberties and racial equality, it would be very foolish to push “monkey” business to cater to the chinese market when most NBA fans are black, most NBA players are black, and all season/playoff games are in united states.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Those stats are very surprising..I wasn’t aware of how good his stats were as a starter for the Hornets…Dropping 17PPG with a shooting line of 45FG% and 40% 3FG…..superb numbers….Better than Batum.

  • yellowshadow

voters will also factor in the team status – enes kanter would have the edge in most voters’ eyes because OKC is playoff bound, while hornets are out of the race by 2 games. many would see this as a good player putting up decent numbers on a bad team effect and discredit what lin has brought to the organization.

  • JoeTeam

He’s going to do great, that 6MOY article is weirdly positive lol.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Agree with you Yellowshadow…specially when the term “monkey” is used as a way to denigrate African Americans…so I perfectly understand DeMarcus issue with it..and I’m not a fan of Cousin at all.

As you said, at least 70% of NBA players are black, so when one as big as Cousin says something about it, the league has to listen before it gets out of hand…I’m pretty sure every star players in the league would take cousin’s side.

The only thing I remembered was he was an assist and reb short and they were winning, mchale put Lin back in the game and I can see the team effort to get the 3D for Lin. Afterwards I remember harden gave credit to Lin saying that Lin was a solid player that he can get 3D from the bench under 30 min. Which during the season harden tried to match the same stat later on in the season.
