G42 CHA @OKC Game Thread

It’s another tough match on the road against the OKC Thunder who beat them handily at home 109-90

  • Both are in the opposite end of winnings streak: OKC is 8W-2L and Hornets is 2L-8W
  • OKC has 5 winning streak
  • Will the Hornets allow Kemba to be another high scorer following his 52 pts despite lacking necessary defense (allowing Trey Burke to score 9 out of 11 Jazz pts in OT2)? Or will they resort to team-ball in order to give them a better chance to win?

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s pray and hope that gets to be 100% healthy soon and will have a chance to be the playmaker to help the Hornets to win

    Let’s go Jlin..spank the okc Showers!!!hehe

  • The most important question is: which Lin haircut give the best chance to win?
ShaolinWarrior is 100% so far but aesthetically it is the worst =)
    Decisions, decisions…

  • me too.. 57.1% seems good with enough sample size!

  • DX

    Mohawk hands down.

    Will Lamb play tonight?
I can see Lin play extended mins tonight if game is close

  • KHuang

The Hornets have virtually no chance of winning this game.

With Kemba Walker in full isohog mode, the best hope for the Hornets to win is for OKC to double and triple Kemba Walker so much that Walker is forced to give up the ball. That would get the ball into Lin’s hands somewhat, but likely not enough to win the game.

Nobody seems to realize that Nicolas Batum has been FROZEN OUT by Walker too. Batum’s no longer getting the ball much, and he’s been forced to pass more than he’s been able to shoot. With Clifford trying to “protect” Batum’s lack of touches by turning Batum into a “point forward” who now controls the passing, it’s done nothing positive while racking up turnovers and bricks and missed shot opportunities for Batum. That’s because Batum doesn’t have enough basketball IQ or actual basketball skills to run Clifford’s offense or defense.

And Lin? Lin is now exclusively a backup shooting guard who isn’t allowed to shoot that much. He’ll probably face off against Dion Waiters and the other SGs. There won’t be that much of Lin vs Westbrook even though Lin has historically showed that he has NO PROBLEM dealing with Westbrook straight up. Lin will probably have his typical game off the bench: low double figure scoring, a bunch of nice passes, a whole lotta defense, and very few touches.

  • I agree.

It’s quite sad to see the Hornets allow hero-ball to dominate resulting in weak defense that Clifford is supposedly advocating but doesn’t enforce. Pop would never allow the Spurs to play this way. We can already imagine he yelled at any players for blowing 1 defensive assignment.

I guess we can’t expect Clifford to be Pop or even Mike Budenholzer who managed to coach Atlanta Hawks with the same team discipline after being Pop’s top assistant for 6 years.

Even Batum expressed the desire to play unselfish ball ala Spurs after talking to Tony Parker and Boris Diaw during EuroCup. But now he’s frozen out and seeing how Kemba is allowed to play no D, he probably will bolt somewhere else in the off-season.

So much for the Hornets desire to play team-ball and emphasize defense. I’d say 99% chance the Hornets will not reach playoff if Clifford doesn’t come down hard on defensive assignment

  • He was listed as Questionable yesterday

  • sws94

to be honest, Westbrook showed he can get by Lin in games I’ve watched. That’s not a slight to Lin, Westbrook is extremely athletic. Westbrook has improved in decision making and instead of forcing shots most of the times, he’ll actually dish the ball off at times. He is still a shoot-first PG, but he does enough dishing to get a pretty high amount of assists a game. And he’s ball-dominant enough as well. Lin needs help guarding Westbrook. He can slow him down some and body up on him, but then the 2nd line of defense needs to come in.

Westbrook also is a good defender. So, Lin has to work some for his shots. I know we love to play the 2013 highlight when Lin had 29 over and over, but he’s struggled with OKC since. Ibaka’s shot-blocking and some of the length and athleticism of that team is a big challenge for him (as well as the rest of the team).

I agree that Lin probably will have his usual game. But, you know what? We don’t know. I wouldn’t be surprised if he went off and scored 28 with 8 boards and 7 assists either. Because if Kemba and Batum are targetted, who else needs to emerge? Lin. Lin may try to feed Frank or someone else, but he also may have some scoring opportunities of his own. I just continue to hope Lin finds a groove and strings some games together. But, looking at his ankle and his balance, I think that’s most likely post-ASB.

Just for the record, I can’t stand Westbrook. I don’t like his playing style or his personality. But I believe in giving credit where it is due to player’s abilities and he’s improved his game and is athletic.

  • Rick Johnson

Probably would have been better if they lost the last game. Kemba iso-ing and scoring so much and scraping out a win will make him play that way for at lease another 7 games even if they lose all 7.

  • Rick Johnson

I believe he only played Shaolinwarrior one game so kind of small sample size.

  • sws94

Wonder if Kemba deep down wishes Cliff was tougher on him? He is with others, to an extent.

  • sws94

It truly doesn’t matter. He’s played a lot of bad games with the mohawk and some outstanding ones. He’s played good games with slicked-back as well, and some not so good ones. Mohawk is most entertaining for viewers.

  • TTNN

He warriored only one game right? really don’t like that look, and don’t like that game. lol, yeah, mohawk for sure. He also had the 5th element look, too, not sure what % was that.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Because of there’s no hope for change from Kemba, as long as Lin can get his 15 pts and 5 assists, I’m ok even if they lose.

  • TTNN

I think that comes with the limitation of Batum. Batum is good at generate opportunities for other people, but he rely on other people to get him a good look, so that he could pick his spot. Unfortunately, on this team, especially when AI is not playing, he end up function as a decoy to attract defenders and then set up Kemba to shoot. When Kemba had ball, he attract defenders and set up himself to shoot.

As a result, Batum don’t really have much opportunities for himself, other than when he was playing with Lin, so Lin sometime found him. While when he was in Portland, his teammate will find him cutting, but not here.

Batum used to shoot almost half of his shot from 3, and majority of them were assisted. Then out of his 2 pt made, he had a 30-40% of them were fast breaks and his teammate found him, and he shot almost 80% FG% for that kind of shot. All those easy ones rely on other good passer. But on this team, he only get that when he was playing with second team, when he don’t need to be primary ball handler, and always need to set other people up. That’s why Batum perform better FG% when he was playing with the second team.

To be honest, I’m not sure Batum want to stay in this team after this season. It looks like it is his team, he said that, but bottom line, it is not, he don’t get to play his game, he need to play out of his position, and he don’t get player who complement his play, but he is heavily relyed on to complement the other star, and make Kemba looks way nicer than what he really is.

  • TTNN

I don’t really think that would happen, since based on the theory that Clifford start PJ to save Batum on the defensive side, that he basically build a system that the team will have 4 on 5 defense. If you have that foundation, really does not matter how hard the other player play defense, you could not fix the weak link of the team. And that’s could get player really frustrated, and eventually they will tune off the coach, as they know what’s the problem, and if the coach could not face the problem, it would be like beating a dead horse.

And MKG could only help only so much.

Memories from the first OKC Thunder game:

    1. Serge Ibaka’s mere shadow induced Hornet’s bigs to fumble ball and miss layups/dunks.
    2. When not scaring bigs, OKC blocking shots – 15
    3. Kemba shot 10-24 and played no D (per usual)
    4. OKC grabbed 20 more rebounds than Hornets
    5. Sideline fan caused Durant more trouble than any Hornet defender; KD scored at will would’ve 52 if weren’t such disciplined ball movement team unlike Kemba Iso team.
    6. Donovan (historically great College coach) ran circles around Clifford (mental midget)
    7. Game over in Q1

    Will anything be different?

    —No—

Kemba jacks 30 shots and OKC will key on him and teach him a lesson. When not jacking, passes to teammate with 3 secs.

p.s. Hoping JLIN doesnt get injured helping out on RWB as he blows by Kemba.

  • Rick Johnson

It’s mostly grilled chicken and fresh vegetables. Not like typical fast food restaurants with high fiat ground beef, french fries, fried chicken & other fried foods. Don’t think it’s really that unhealthy.

  • LAJane

I don’t think so. He gets a lot of praise and that makes it easy for him to think of himself as the best talent who just can’t save his hopelessly incapable teammates. Any moment of self-criticism is very quickly submerged under how much “fun” the spotlight is. I don’t think he’s a mean or bad guy a la Kobe, just deformed by success past any fixing.

  • NONONO

OKC does not have to double on Kemba. they can let him shot another 50 on 48 mins and rest of team 50. All they need to score is their own average 104 with Durant and Westbrook each playing 25 mins.

  • yes, Chipotle is mostly healthy if people stick with veggies & protein
It’s only when they add cheese, sour cream, etc. that it becomes unhealthy

that’s why many NBA players and their nutrition coach approve it

  • that’s a good point .. if PJ is there to help out Batum’s energy on D, how would players turn it on and off

It makes me wonder about Curry in GSW, do they cover for him on D?
I don’t watch enough GSW to know their defensive scheme

  • NONONO

Lin was guarding 2-3 Utah players in multiple occasions during OTs plus one game change save (ball rolling to Utah side in final few secs and Hornets was 2 pts behind). Kemba’s post-game interview said he was upset he made some mistakes. But he never appreciated teammates effort. The mistake he admitted is not regarding to his weak defense, it is more about his misshots. We know he would shoot more and more from now on.

  • NONONO

Curry and Klay are very good defenders

  • sws94

I actually think he meant defensive mistakes more than offensive ones.

  • NONONO
  • Weifang

That always scares me, so far I don’t see any good/smart team defender on this team except Lin. I was baffled how they earned their defense reputation in the past. Maybe there was nothing else to talk about. I guess Lin’s defense set the bar too high and made his teammates look so lost from time to time. And I don’t see other PGs trying to screen bigs in the paint like what Lin did. Maybe other PGs think Lin was kind dumb to do that.

  • NONONO

All he said is “me, me , me”

  • NONONO

From now on, i do not expect Hornets to win any game (not I wish for). We might just to accept the facts 1. Lin has played better but basic stats does not change if not worse (because he played less as starter, less as PG and more/better defense ) 2. Clifford has not intended or couldn’t use Lin’ strength (pg and PnR) for whatever reason. 3. Hornets and MJ would not feel too bad if they would not make the playoff, because they have (already used) an excuse – no MKG. 4. Hornets is going back to old Hornets. Kemba + AL

  • donsmacau

    Kemba was thinking of OFFENSE.

    1. Kemba misses a 3 from 6ft behind arc in regulation sending to OT
    2. Kemba misses shot from elbow (with JLIN open under basket) sending to OT2
    3. Kemba has had minimal thoughts of “DEFENSE” through his entire career, why should that game be any different?

  • Weifang

maybe the all star vote really gets into Kemba’s head. Like IT?

  • Weifang

somehow I think the all star vote bothers him quite bit.

  • NONONO

    The defense was good because

Bismack+MKG+Gerald Henderson. Even Mo did the much better job than Kemba

  • Weifang

oh my, I have no idea who those guys are except MKG, then it makes sense.

  • NONONO

Clifford suddenly relied on 3s too much early in the season. When 3s off, they got only one weapon left – Kemba’s ISO

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Thanks, I almost forgot Lin’s #1 strength was PG and PnR. It’s been a long time.

  • NONONO
  • Weifang

oh my, thanks for the info. Sorry, I lost any interest to hear what Clifford said after several games into the season.

  • NONONO

ASG voting is done. Would Clifford stop pumping Kemba’s stats since the Christmas when Hornets was 16-13?

[Clifford thinks Batum isn’t the only Hornet in a 16-13 start who deserves that consideration.
“I think Kemba does, too,” Clifford said when asked if Batum is All-Star worthy. “It’s pretty early, but I think both of those guys have to be (considered) at their positions. I haven’t looked at the other guys, (Hello, Lin is way ahead of Batum)….]

Since then, Hornets was 3-9. Batum injury shouldNOT have been an excuse, because Lin had his best game and won over tough team Toronto without Batum.

    No hope for Hornets.

  • Weifang

I think MJ’s pep talk lasted 1.5 game. So if he can travel with his own team, there is still hope.

  • JoeTeam

    bottom left, Gordon Gecko!

  • donsmacau

Please notice Unique Aspect of OKC Thunder tonight ** REBOUNDING **

Few NBA teams like OKC Thunder consistently out-rebound opponents (+20 over CHA), and by significant margins every night.

    Why?
Because Billy Donovan is a College Coach where they still respect vigorous offensive rebounding. Teams who consistently pound boards CREATE EXTRA scoring opptys which leads to points to WINS, and stops opponent 2nd chances.

Clifford’s NBA analytics prevent him ALLOWING Hornets ANY Offensive Rebounding, to prevent fast break points — his data may be right, but teams like OKC makes one pause.

One can argue OKC has talented rebounders, but ball carom/positioning is learned art which only improves with more chances.

Perhaps Clifford follows NBA trend, but he often has TWO 7ftrs on floor but still does NOT allow O-board which is emblematic Cliff’s deficiencies as simpleton coach.

  • NONONO

From MJ’s existing shoe deals, you might tell who would have starting jobs next season in Hornets – Kemba, MKG, Cody , Frank . Batum could be the last one. Do they cover all positions? Lin is on Adidas? Sorry. MJ likes to win, But he is a businessman.

  • Weifang

you know, in the past, I always thought of NBA as a sport organization. After following Lin into the NBA, now I slowly learned that this is a business. As a result, it’s a show – a reality show or a scripted show instead of sports. Lin is a true sport. So conflict of interest.

  • NONONO

Exactly. The shows needs stars. Team is for supporting and promoting stars.

  • sws94

Impossible to know that. We can’t say what he was thinking.

  • NONONO

We can tell from what he has been doing for years,

Clifford is from the COY to STBFC (soon to be fired coach) in one month?

  • donsmacau

If so, quite expensive lesson for MJ/Cho who extended Clifford 3 years after a small winning streak; then Clifford gave them a big losing streak.

  • james brown

his defensive mistakes maybe so blatant is on Cliff, but i guess he knew that there must be a time to pass and to shoot but his mindset blurred him sometimes and that mistakes cost them an early win like the open JLIN during dying seconds of jazz game.

  • wu kong
  • donsmacau

Yes, the article direct addresses the issue:

“If NBA teams were to improve their offensive rebounding [they would] score 4.3 points more per 100 possessions. So now the remaining question is this: are teams saving more than 4.3 points per 100 possessions by virtue of their improved transition defense?”

Unfortunately, author doesn’t provide an answer to the question.

Looking at OKC at 31-12 and their dominance on offensive boards, seems OKC figured a way to keep O-rebounds and not lose transition buckets — perhaps their players are simply just fast enough and motivated to motor back to defend rather than slow jog.

  • blubell
  • TTNN
  • How Kemba can lose Neto on that wide-open 3 was so unbelievable.
He was guarding noone then chose to guard Marvin’s man (Hayward) who was closest to him.

Then he just walked around like nothing happened.
I think he expected to guard whoever’s close to him and not his own man.

    No accountability = Losing Streak

  • aras

The only way they win this game is if Michael jordan comes back from retirement and plays lockdown defense on kevin durant…which i honesly believe he could still at this age.

  • Hornets big men might need to learn to do his “head-butt layup” move to finish strong.

  • The GOAT might be slowed down by age but he would still get 100% ref’s calls.

Lin might get 5 assists from MJ alone

  • Fevers End

  • Asik’s presence under the rim would get Hornets at least 5 Wins.
I remember the multiple blocks and his Turkish ballet moves =]

Hornets is still #12 in EC standing, so yeah lower is very possible with this non-existent defense *sigh*

  • Lin Win

    Completely agree!

  • Lin Win

Give me a break! You can always make that excuse when nothing goes J Lin’s way.
Did NBA rigged Jeremy Lin when he made it into the Allstars when he was in NYK?
I guess they also rigged Kobe Bryant’s result to make him No.1

  • LinMad

did you watch the preseason game when Lin was playing in China? I think the votes are rigged by the NBA. How do we know if NBA isn’t cheating Lin? Is there a third party making sure the votes are accurate? Who’s really checking?

I seriously think most of the GMs and coaches in NBA are trying to make Lin look like a bench player but they still fail and every year Lin makes it to the NBA ASG ballot. The only bench player to make it on the list.

  • adele

Get real. He was not voted when he was in NY. They just inserted him into the line up because of Linsanity. The league put him there for the rising stars.

  • blubell

NBA didn’t really have a choice but to include him due to his popularity at that time and it wasn’t for the main All Star game. Rookie-Sophomore game.

  • james brown

LOL..linwin forgot that it did happened that way!

  • DX

Maybe NBA doesn’t count the votes from China.

  • LinMad

I believe Charlotte should have made a bigger attempt/effort on promoting Lin for ASG as soon as they saw Lin at #8 and Kemba/Batum was not even on the top 10.

At this moment, Lin already had over 150,000+ votes and Kemba/Batum were less than 30,000? What were they trying to achieve? That promotion money could have sent Lin to top 7 or higher.

Lin had the most votes out of all the Hornets but they were still pumping up Kemba and Batum even 1 day before the voting ends. Result? Neither Kemba/Batum were top 10. I guess Lin is not even on their agenda for next season. Lin needs to worry about himself from now on. Get his stats up and see what happens next off season.

  • Dorothy

I have always wondered you maybe a troll. I think you just showed me your true color. If you have followed Lin long enough, you should know Lin NEVER made to AllStar LOL

  • Linzen

In all fairness, NBA did rig the result when JLin was included in the Rookie Sophomore game. He was NOT chosen during the announcement. But, because of his popularity, they change the selection and put him in instead… just like @wizlin:disqus explained.

  • Dorothy

You must not stay at Asian countries for long if any. That is not how they function. They WILL go all out for their people for international spotlight. NBA definitely rigged the results.

  • sws94

Wasn’t he in the skills competition also as a Rocket?

  • John Focker

NBA only counts what it wants to count. I’m sure they counted all the Kobe votes from China, while ignored or divided all the Lin votes by an x factor.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Please do not use Lin’s name in vain. True Lin fans follow him from wins to losses and vice versa. They aren’t fair weather fans.

  • LinMad

they probably marked it as “spam” lol

  • LinMad

its going to be big next season either way. I don’t even think Charlotte can afford Lin unless they make some trades. There will be more teams looking for starting/reliable backup PGs.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

It’s so easy for Lin to be voted All-star. All they need to do is to give the opportunity for Lin to start and Kemba to pass Lin the ball like what Kemba did in Lin’s season high 35 points game instead of looking away and ignoring Lin’s cuttings towards the basket.

  • DX

    OKC didn’t take Hornets seriously.

  • LinMad

    ???

  • Alain Gervais

    Blow out.

  • DX

    PJ should go to D-L.

  • rookie75094

    Lol..hornets have no stings…defenseless

  • Alain Gervais

    they shouldn’t

  • james brown

    no defense!!!

  • LinMad

    nice one

  • james brown

PJ should not be playing here!!!

  • rookie75094

Even the okc announcers are laughing at them

  • JLin Fan from Australia

WOW Seem like Hornets is going to lose big this game.

  • sws94

Kemba is the only one scoring for the Hornets.

  • LinMad

Kemba doing all the offense. Team better step up on D

  • james brown

    no flow of [play?

  • rookie75094

The problem with kemba is all offensr…no defense

  • james brown

    WestBrook can outbody zeller

  • rookie75094

    Jlin is coming in

  • blubell

    really? I didn’t know he refused…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOLOL Hornets starters. Free ride for Durant!

  • LinMad

LOL the defense is still in Charlotte.

  • rookie75094

    Here comes Jlin

  • golfhacker

There are too many bad referees to remember!

  • wandertheglobe

No interior defense, KD, Ibaka and Adams are beasting.

  • sws94

Lin has to find his jump shot. Once he does, he’ll contribute his usual.

  • james brown

take out KW or let Jlin play PG in offense and SG in defense.

  • cshot

our bigs need to roll hard… so lazy

  • james brown

if he will get the pass..right now he just touched it once..

  • golfhacker

    It’s not in their playbook.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • heart

NO Defense; No play making for easy basket; Just pass and shoot. What kind of offensive and defensive schemes are these?

  • Dorothy

    22222222222

  • rookie75094

    JLIN FOR 2

  • sws94

I know but he had a good shot. He just missed it. When he hits those that will make him more dangerous.

  • blubell
  • heart

KW is still playing and is only looking for his own shots!

  • blubell
  • sws94

See what I mean. Lin’s jump shots aren’t falling.

  • tom

Lin was gonna come in around 6 then they kept playing
    didnt come in until 350
    so annoying when that happenes

  • blubell

    It’s still early. We’ll see.

  • Alain Gervais

    game just started

  • tom

Lin was gonna come in around 6 then they kept playing
    didnt come in until 350
    so annoying when that happenes

thats why being a back up sucks

  • sws94

Hope so. Hope he starts knocking some down.

  • james brown

more tries and hope it got him his rhythm

  • John Focker

    He’s eyeing the Chamberlain challenge!

  • james brown

KW first try was a missed shot, what’s the point?

  • sws94

What do you mean? Are you going to seriously tell me you have as much faith in Lin’s shots falling right now as Kemba’s? Lin is still struggling with his jumper.

  • sws94

Make that shot Hawes. Lin’s pass was beautiful.

  • LinMad

good D by Lin so far, boxed out a big man and contested that 3 well

  • JoeTeam

that JLin reb given to Kemba. It was a scoop and pass.

  • tom

Thats been the case for like 5-8games now
    his 3s arent falling

  • sws94

Lin’s D is consistent. Brings it every game.

  • DX

Be honest, Hornets can’t compete at any position.

  • JoeTeam

    he was well contested.

  • cshot

that was the closest thing to a pick and roll i saw from hawes

  • sws94

I’d like to see him do his manuevers and shoot short 2s. He has to get it going from the 3 sooner or later. He does every season.

  • rookie75094

    Nah…Jlin is doing fine

  • heart

Why NOT allowing Lin to play PG? Cliff does not know what he’s missing out!!

  • DX

Only team ball can have a chance to win.

  • DX

    I mean starters.

  • sws94

He usually makes that shot when he’s shooting well. He shoots the ball great when he’s contested. But it’s possible he’ll get in a shooting groove. Hope he keeps shooting.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Did JLin get the rebound and gave it to Kemba the last second possession of first qtr??? They didn’t give the credit to JLin but to Kemba. Thunder announcers said the same: JLin had the rebound.

  • LinMad

i guess his “changes” was to make Kemba iso more than he did before.

  • Alain Gervais

we cant get a rebound which is why we have no shot

  • DX

    No rebounds.

  • james brown

not on this game yet..its still early? each games is different, but for those who know already what supposed to happen which you abhor as spoken by you, we doesn’t know yet if he has a problem with his shooting..do we?

  • blubell
  • rookie75094

    Jlin draw foul

  • blubell

    JLin specialty.

  • JoeTeam

that was a shooting foul uncalled. Bummer.

  • LinMad

    what’s our bigs doing?

  • Alain Gervais

Lin making bad choices. right under the rim why not shoot it. missed easy lay up

  • tom

Hopefully hes in a shooting slump rn

  • rookie75094

    Rare mistake

  • aras

    Not looking good right now…

  • sws94

Well, didn’t have a good angle. This team is good at picking off passes. Might as well just shoot it .

  • Rzo Vlade

use the floter…man very simple use the floater

  • golfhacker

And hesitated on the previous layup attempt. Stupid pump fake.

  • JoeTeam

agree, what a turnaround. he prevented a TOV by Batum. Foul was shooting but they didn’t call it.

  • I am The Jason

OKC playing some strong defense and their bigs know how to roll to the basket. Not every player has to stay by the 3 pt line.

  • He has to be careful with passing around long limbs and big bodies

Yes better to have floaters or short jumper

  • LinMad

Ready said what I was thinking, need more off ball movement.

  • wandertheglobe

    Where was the foul?

  • LinMad

    that late whistle

  • Alain Gervais

    yep

  • tom

Lin in a shooting slump again
Hope he gets his shot back soon

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Really wonder about that.

  • I am The Jason

The Hornets offense is so stagnant. They are not moving the ball well and they have lead in their feet.

  • LinMad

ball falls, lands on his feet, Lin picks it up, then a whistle…

  • Alain Gervais

    5 seconds late

  • JLin Fan from Australia

When did JLin commit a foul?????

  • Alain Gervais

the first grab at the ball

  • LinMad

i don’t blame them, it’s coaching. Why put Hawes, Frank, Troy and Batum in with Lin? They are all non-moving shooters.

  • Dorothy

    2222222222

  • LinMad

    Batum has to run fast

  • james brown

    late call by the ref.

  • Alain Gervais

    our defense is just idk

  • Pete Roces

No words to say, if Lin can’t shoot, Kemba will ISO more, game over! Hornets to the lottery, 100%

  • james brown

need for jlin to be aggressive on offense now…

  • cshot

don’t ask for the ball if you can’t outrun your man batum

  • LinMad

If u know ur getting the ball from Lin on a play, you have to run fast for it. If defender outruns you, it’s going to be a TO.

  • golfhacker

    More like IDGAF.

  • sws94

Easy basket from a great cut. I blame that TO on Batum. In fact, Batum’s done nothing out there.

  • james brown

    Batum seems fleeting right now???

  • Alain Gervais

it really don’t matter when the other team getting easy shots and all the rebounds

  • Alain Gervais

offensively idk whats wrong with him

  • LinMad

What I noticed so far this season is that Batum isn’t fast on his feet. Most of his TOs is from dribbling ahead of his feet or making lazy passes or his defender beats him. Batum also likes to broadcast what he’s doing (whether he’s passing or receiving the ball) making it easy for the defender to read him. We’ve seen it last game when Frank was the inbounder and Batum was the receiver. He just loses it cause his defender is quicker than him.

  • rookie75094

Batum is still resting his toe?

  • Alain Gervais

    atleast he doesn’t keep shooting

  • rookie75094

    Troy for 3

  • james brown

    maybe thinking he’s leaving hornets..LOL!

  • blubell
  • rookie75094

    Jlin for 2..goal tend

  • wandertheglobe

    blood no foul?

  • Dorothy

    Lin bleeding again

  • LinMad

    he was fouled or no?

  • james brown

Jlin’s looking to cut than the first play just to screened batum, Hawes great passer, maybe a pg in the body of a center? LOL!…

  • rookie75094

Jlin got hit in the nose again…smh

  • I am The Jason

how did the bloody nose occur????

  • Alain Gervais

Lins nose lol like 6 times in his career

  • blubell
  • LinMad

2 no calls this season with blood. LMAO!

  • grover chang

    Dragon blood!

  • tom

Damn Lin out again? thats bogus

  • wandertheglobe

Unbelievable, the Hornets is only down by 7.

  • blubell

    6 pts (3-6)

  • xeroid

    Hit on the nose, blood.

  • Alain Gervais

Datum is helping our rebounding atleast

  • tom

He was gonna come out either way

  • JoeTeam

    drew blood.

  • sws94

Hornets need to run more. Lin also needs to run more when he’s playing PG. He brings it up for half-court sets where Lin’s game is the faster-paced game.

  • DX

0 pts, 2 ast, Batum really want to take PG job.

  • heart

Did Ibaka hit Lin nose? How did he get the nose bleed?

  • LinMad

Batum should stick to what his role was last season and stop trying to take PG role. Even Frank is faster than Batum.

  • LinMad

People said he got hit on the nose. I didn’t see the replay so I don’t know

  • james brown

coz troy was hitting his shots

  • cshot

charolette twitter media are pretty negative about lin lol…. retweeting stuff like “we got bad lin tonight” and liking it smh

  • tom

Lin only gets 10min per half now? wow

  • LinMad

Ya, I see some of them are from ATH, they starting a Lin hating club cause Kemba didn’t make ASG. And they think Kemba getting 52 pts is a good thing for team basketball.

  • james brown

maybe he hit the board during the fastbreak.LOL

  • FSW

In cliff world losing streak started when Lin played more minutes

  • LinMad

Cliff will abuse Lin 2nd half. Will play him 28 minutes straight.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Cliff/Hornets really wants Kemba to be THE HERO.

  • LinMad

lol, nah he knows Lin is good. Just can’t let him outshine Kemba.

  • CaliUSMC

    wait why is lin out???

  • Alain Gervais

    Jeremy in for datum

  • rookie75094

    Jlin back

  • John Focker

I like your math. Reminds me of Kelvin Sampson’s. 🙂

  • LinMad

It’s funny how some Hornets fans are hating Lin today and they don’t even care that Batum is 0 pts in 18 minutes and made some horrible decisions. If Lin shooting 50% is bad, they need to be mad at like 90% of the players on Hornets.

  • tom

Lin should be playing 15 mins/hf on this team
    CLifford is an icmpetent coach

  • james brown

    batum not doing anything!

  • LinMad

Lin boxed out that big and it’s a foul?

  • LinMad

how is that not an And 1 on Kemba?

  • CaliUSMC

What a horrible shot by Kemba rofl

  • tom

Man Kemba is so selfish like pass it out man stop trying to be a hero
You aint no elite PG like f off man

  • grover chang

Ridiculous. Even okc radio said thunder got bailed out.

  • MoominFloren

Just one game 52 pts and now deserved to be in ASG? smh

  • Alain Gervais

    yea

  • JoeTeam

what’s wrong with KAM, ? JLin was already downcourt and he holds it to give to KW, who iso for his own score covered while Lin was alone. Ha ha, did walker just try to pass to himself off the glass?

    could have been tied.

  • rookie75094

    Kemba should have pass to Jlin….once a hog….always a…

  • heart

Knew KW was going shoot that himself!

  • LinMad

I guess the Hornets fans get what they asked for. That 52 pts Kemba game was really amazing wasnt it? Kemba ISO rest of season and we lose more games and team chemistry. Might as well rename Hornets to Kemba.

  • Alain Gervais

idk if he can pass probably a smart choice

  • occupatio

kemba is on pace for 20+ FGA tonight

  • sws94

    Disgusting, selfish play by Kemba.

  • occupatio

he will say afterwards that it was a ‘fun night’. like last time.

  • LinMad

    why not 30?

  • sws94

Pretty good first half for Lin considering everything.

  • tom

Lin with the 2nd fewest mins off the bench
Yah i really dont care if Lin goes the sixers anymore at least we know the team is messing with all their players
    This is just bad

  • guest

It’s one thing to get the last shot…but to try and pass it off the back board to yourself…Reeaally?

  • LinMad

ya and he’ll give credit to his teammates even though they did nothing but defense.

  • John Focker

So he’s practicing self-restraint…by not going over 30 FGA. LOL

  • sws94

tom, you should know by know that Lin’s minutes can’t be judged by the first half’s minutes. He still has 2 fouls unfortunately. I didn’t like either of them.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Refs are so bad calling Lin loosed ball foul on overthrown pass.

  • sws94

Disgusting. Cliff should get on him for that. And the rest of the team.

  • John Focker

    Amazingly selfish.

  • I am The Jason

Its so hard to watch this team. RIP preseason offense and defense. It was all a dream.

  • LinMad

ya i agree, minutes isn’t an issue here. It’s Kemba ISOing so much and coach not setting up players. Coach is basically allowing this to happen.

  • JoeTeam

enjoy the game folks. I mean, kw is just not gonna share. JLin was short mins because of his bloody nose and someone mentioned having to wait until play stopped.

Nothing’s changes, so alls we can do is enjoy and hop JLin gets some great play in 2nd half. Be +

  • james brown

    you said it!!!lol

  • LinMad

i think shot it, knew it wasn’t going in and went for it. This is the reason why you don’t take contested shots.

  • tom

I dont get how Hawes and Kaminsky have more minutes than him
    This is bad

  • JoeTeam

you might be right, can’t hit a moving target and JLin was at Warp Factor 9.

  • Whitman Lam

Fouls are VERY one-sided in favor of OKC in this game.

  • fatbob

wow, KW is on FIRE…his streak is continuing from last game.

  • Alain Gervais

lol pj already has 3 fouls

  • sws94

He set up a nice play for Lin. And Hawes feeding Lin inside on a cut was really pretty. But, the offense is just ugly and stagnant and it is encouraging Kembaball. Yes, Kemba got the first 9 or whatever points, but he came in with Lin after his rest and played selfishly. There is no excuse for that. Kaminsky also doesn’t look to play enough team ball either.

  • MoominFloren

We need MJ to give the teamball speech every game!!

  • tom

Yah OKC is one of the leagues favorites no surprise there

  • sws94

Lin should have 1 foul. That’s it.

  • CaliUSMC

He needs to face time every player during away games.

  • tom

No bloody nose has nothing to do with it
He was gonna come out there anyways

  • guest

He aimed for the right side of back board. You can tell by the angle and how hard he threw it. imho. I don’t mind him taking the last shot, but could been down only 5. They got the next half. Go LIN!

  • fatbob

    3-6 fg, 0-1 from 3, 2 turnovers, 0 assists, 6 points 🙁

  • Singapore BB Fan

Not if his pet Kemba is scoring….

  • Alain Gervais

biggest reason we will never beat OKC is rebounding and assist ( mostly how deficit our shots are compared to theres)

  • james brown

    KW no teammates!

  • tom

So the change Clifford was talking about is to take away Lins minutes
    and this is without Lamb
When he comes back Lin is back to 15-20mins/game

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • james brown

biggest reason is the ISO selfish plays of some players…team plays win! Defense and offense.

  • Singapore BB Fan

never know watching NBA games can be so painful.
    Long suffering Lin fans….

  • heart

Both team commentators are so bad to listen to. Both are puffing up their own players. Hornets’ praises of KW and not calling out his selfishness or few assists from him as PG are getting to me. I might mute the rest of the way.

  • Whitman Lam

Yeah, those 2 turnovers trying to be unselfish, unlike Kemba.

  • tom

You cant win without good bigs that do the dirty work
Thats why Ben Wallace was such a valuable player even though he was a scrub offensively
    similarly Dennis Rodman

  • Whitman Lam

Bring in Hansbrough, he’s not as easy to push around.

  • JoeTeam

somehow we gotta get paid for this if it’s that hard lol.

  • james brown

maybe he like to pass the ball…to himself or to the ring..i remember young was asked why he didn’t pass the ball and he answered that if the player looks like the basketball ring, he will pass it to him otherwise he shoots!

  • tom

the 2nd TO was pretty bad shouldve held it

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • tom

    held onto it

  • JoeTeam

Amazing you can read minds. jk, I’m just saying take a positive outlook or we’ll all suffer more. I know you are a fan.

  • fatbob

yeah, the enes kanter one…it wasn’t a turnover it was a steal

  • OKC is outrebounding the Hornets 28-19 at half-time
    Also more assists 14-8

  • LinMad

Maybe Kemba is going kamikaze on this team cause he didn’t make the ASG ballot.

  • tom

Hes not a very smart player and very, very rusty
He hustles a lot they can really use some hustle

  • tom

    no pain no gain LOL

  • LinMad

ya, he’s physical compared to Frank, Hawes. Frank and Hawes look scared to get touched.

  • Singapore BB Fan

LOL NBA form of entertainment….kind of sadistic

  • tom

    not the foul the TO

  • NONONO

Batum 0? Is he hurt or sick?

  • occupatio

that whole theory had little basis. this is just how kemba is.

  • MoominFloren

How dare you? He’s saving the hornets by making 30+ FGA every night lol

  • LinMad

Cliff should just start Lin. Has PJ ever scored 35 this season? Lin did and he only started for 6 games or something.

  • tom

Hawes is a pretty good passer for a big
but as a big you gotta be able to finish at the rim and get rebounds before you can do all that fancy passes
Like a beautiful house build upon bad structure or whatever the term it is
    its not gonna work

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Bench all +, starters all –

  • grover chang

When Westbrook is more interested in playing then your starting pg, you are in trouble.

  • DX

    That’s the plan.

  • tom

    because he doesnt respect Lin

  • Alain Gervais

he has never been in the all star especially on a small market team like charlotte.

  • rookie75094

Positive note…the rockettes are losing to the piston…dh out with sprain ankle

  • james brown

WB with 9 assist and commentator is fighting with KW score?

  • tom

    1 of 3

  • John Focker

It’s #4 Sean Wright (11th year) on both calls.

  • Alain Gervais

    11 bro

  • james brown

    thanks for correcting..LOL!

  • Alain Gervais

    lol

  • fatbob

rockets suck without DH, even though those guys give him a lot of flack, blame him for their problems.

  • james brown

more so that coaching staff needs to resolved the issue of selfishness?

  • rookie75094

That is what I am counting on..a losing streak coming for the hustun rockettes

  • tom

Harden takes too many bad shots
A very talented player but he needs some help
Lin can certainly help them but oh well

  • james brown

only one time they played the play

  • LinMad

Nic’s passes. So lazy and out of point when he’s moving or standing.

  • JoeTeam

I watch JLin to hope and cheer. I then watch GSW to enjoy bball. Guilty pleasures, both. Some days, I don’t have to watch GSW we get both.

  • wow.. Batum cross-court pass is so dangerous. TO

    why?

  • LinMad

cause he doesn’t know how to pass while moving. He’s not used to it. He can only pass when standing but those can get TOs too cause he usually broadcasts his passes to the other team. He holds it above his head and shakes the ball before passing it.

  • golfhacker

Well, the Sixers now have more wins than the Hornets in 2016.

  • I notice Hornets bigs don’t crash the board to rebound when OKC shot

  • tom

He is not a PG lol
    A wanna be lebron LITE

  • james brown

    losing cause!!!

  • John Focker

The ASG vote for Kemba makes almost zero sense now, so Kemba ISO scoring show is very likely showcasing for a trade.

  • They’re very grounded lol

  • golfhacker

They really don’t crash the boards against any team.

  • JoeTeam

they aren’t even inside sometimes, who knows where they are I’m too busy watching JLin playing D.

  • rookie75094

    Another to for kw

  • FrankW

    Those glue guys.

  • For once, I’d like Pop to be a consultant and be yelling at them

  • JoeTeam

we all hope you are right.

  • LinMad

Kemba shot so much, he’s slowly losing his passing skills.

  • MoominFloren

I hope you are right…but the possibility is like 1%?

  • tom

    Losing what?
I dont think Kemba possesses such thing

  • LinMad

KW will look more and more like the only shooting option because the other teammates miss more from being iced out by Kemba. That just gives KW more reason to ISO.

  • JoeTeam

this is crazy, put JLin in so they can catch up.

  • MoominFloren

    What passing skills?

  • LinMad

welcome to a team that has bigs who shoot 3s and play more like slow running guards.

  • fatbob

calm down, only a 9pt game..not like hornets are winning this anyway

  • guest

i don’t know why they bother starting the pnr when they just go back to perimeter passes.

  • 808JL7

What is NB doing with that pass? TO

  • LinMad

I hear Cliff calling Jeremy…is he going in?

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin in

  • Alain Gervais

    yup

  • LinMad

Cliff slowly realizing how bad Batum is on defense.

  • Lin in with 7 min left in Q3

  • Alain Gervais

i think datum is hurt maybe

  • LinMad

    Is Cody our tallest man?

  • james brown

whats the use if KW will shoot everything?

  • JoeTeam

I’m v relaxed, I’m just saying it makes no sense not to play a key guy when others (Batum) are doing so badly).

  • Good try by Lin to find Zeller inside

  • Alain Gervais

    datum benched which is interesting

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I dare and I did:-) I almost @ to @Hornets @HornetsPR:-) This is how I feel about Kemba when he plays selfish.

  • LinMad

Lin needs to train these bigs how to roll

  • Ibaka doing WWF against Marvin

  • I think so

  • Alain Gervais

    why is lin on durant

  • LinMad

wait a minute…..why is Lin on Durant?

  • golfhacker

Lin is the team’s best defender!

  • fatbob

    LOL…cliff has snapped

  • Alain Gervais

he is not tall enough pj messed up

  • wow.. Zeller got the foul? Should be Adams

  • 808JL7

    Phantom foul on Lin.

  • LinMad

wth was that……that was a foul on Ibaka not Zeller

  • Alain Gervais

I’m guessing pj ran back too slow leaving lin on durant

  • Whitman Lam

Refs are super biased tonight. EVERY FOUL against Hornets !

  • this is going to be worse than I thought

  • cshot

okc announcers are saying the hornets are flopping hah

  • LinMad

I know what’s going on. NBA has to cheat cause big market > small market Charlotte. When we were top 2 team earlier in the season, NBA saw that as a threat to their profits.

  • John Focker

All three of Lin’s PFs by #4 Sean Wright. Tim Donaghy 2.0.

  • tom

Seems like Clifford wants to go big tonight
    Will Lin finish the game?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I am sick of these NBA refs, are they stupid or racist?

  • John Focker

Why even cheat when Thunder has big lead???

  • they’re swayed by Las Vegas odds

  • Nice drive & finish by JLin! 222!

  • Whitman Lam

Probably both. They want OKC to blowout the Hornets.

  • NONONO

Kemba 19, the other 4 starters 15.. Great Kemba

  • james brown

  • heart

    Thunders: 20 Assists; Hornets: 11

  • LinMad

NBA needs to start firing some refs and scorekeepers too. LOL

  • Whitman Lam

    I’m talking 3rd quarter.

  • NONONO

no chance against any above .500 team

  • sws94

PJ as roll man? Why not.

  • I am The Jason

Its like the Hornets not named Kemba does not want to play on this team.

  • james brown

hornets has no set plays, and no fastbreak as well!

  • Singapore BB Fan

not going to happen….in fact they are making the game more interesting at the same time “unpredictable”

  • Whitman Lam

Westbrook is too big for Kemba to defend.

  • grover chang

How is mj happy about this?

  • Lin 2FTs. 10pts now! Yesss

  • grover chang

  • LinMad

don’t u think it’s funny whenever Batum does bad, he just quits on his team with some lame injury like sore toe or sprain toe?

  • sws94

    Batum has riunjured his toe.

  • 808JL7

    Lin 2 FT made.

  • LinMad

When Hawes misses, it’s very upsetting

  • tom

Hairston needs to be released for that miss
    Horrible!

  • LOL KD missed a finger-roll on Lin then PJ missed an easy layup

  • NONONO

    LIN D on KD!

  • Whitman Lam

Hawes didn’t even tough rim, he threw it OVER the rim on a layup. LOL!

  • I LOL so hard :]

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Can’t believe how bad Hornets players are.

  • sws94

Lin can guard Durant. How about that.

  • Promo Sports World

    MJ a horrible owner/gm

  • fatbob

LOL got to love the hornets, you got these professionals missing layups

  • Singapore BB Fan

I think it’s more interesting staying in this forum than watching the Hornets game. Kinda weird…

  • Alain Gervais

    Lol lin got lucky there

  • Oh yes.. they gave the basket to JLin 😀

  • LinMad

    That lady ref got Lin

  • fatbob

  • cshot

well theres a first to everything!

  • LinMad

NBA needs to keep that lady ref, and fire the other 2.

  • Promo Sports World

Doesn’t want to be on this team

Lady Ref likes Lin. Two favorable calls in a row.

  • Lady ref is good for JLin 😀

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Batum has the same toe injury and will not return this game.

  • Promo Sports World

Hornets latest strategy is to make Kemba the designates shooter.

  • John Focker

She’s new (2nd year), still untainted by the league.

  • LinMad

PnR with Hawes is a bad idea

  • Why ..Frank left Singler on 3?

  • LinMad

u know white girls like asian men.

  • Alain Gervais

the defense is too bad Lin can score 50 it wouldn’t matter

  • kauaiblue

    Hows he doing??

  • golfhacker

If that was Ed Davis, alley-oop!

  • Lin forced KAnter TO!

  • LinMad

why do we get so many 3 second defensive violations? Our bigs are really bad in the paint.

  • LinMad

good D by Lin on Kanter.

  • grover chang

Some lady ref has a crush on Lin.

  • Whitman Lam

Lin continues to be the best rim protector for Charlotte.

    Lol

  • Briiick

I am glad Lin got HIS. Is Batum getting iced by KW ?

  • NONONO

NBA needs setup stats to assists for open shots (not matter create points or not). Hornets’ shootings are bad, waste so many good assists

give jeremy a chance to hit the buzzer kemba -___-

  • tom

Does Kemba know he can pass too?

  • JoeTeam

he had to but that air ball …. gotta do better than that, hit iron at least.

  • So Batum is out due to sore right toe

  • sws94

    Lin’s D is ridiculously good.

  • Briiick

    OK thanks.

  • sws94

    yup. again.

  • grover chang

I’m impressed how Lin never gives up and contributes even if his team loses. Did the same thing last season with the Lakers. Lin is tough.

  • LinMad

    or butt hurt

  • zxcvb

    Same problems as always:

    1) Too much Kemba (make or miss)
    2) Too much Batum ballhandling.
    3) Not enough Lin shooting or handling.
    4) NBA-worst big men who can’t make layups.

  • wandertheglobe

LOL Kemba misses at the buzzer and claps to congratulate himself when the team is down by 18 going into the 4th.

  • Whitman Lam

She’s cute too. Get her number !

  • Alain Gervais

    unfortunately he has no help

  • He bothered big people with his speed 😀

  • zxcvb

He’s so happy just to get stats. He was celebrating and laughing last game even before it was over.

  • Briiick

Lin wants to win more than the stats.

  • golfhacker

He doesn’t even look at anyone else.

  • james brown

    thinking next season..LOL

  • aras

This team is going nowhere at this pace…just no structure all chaos….

  • LinMad

our bigs are perimeter bigs. They do everything bad when near the rim. Even they can’t even count 3 seconds. Always a 3 second violation or more every game.

  • Whitman Lam

Kemba workin’ hard to get his stats and ignore his team.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • grover chang

    No defense.

  • james brown

KW will always shoot and will not pass!

gawd, Roberts is in to play PG.

  • NONONO

  • fatbob

LOLL, i find it funny you think lin has any effect on this game whatsoever? Even if he took 30 shots the hornets still lose by 50, this is because the team D sux

  • Frank.. when opponents shoot, you need to block out and jump to get rebound

    Big Men 101

  • zxcvb

CHA bigs can’t rebound, dunk or defend.

  • Lin assist to Frank 3

  • grover chang

ARGHHHHHH! Is BS coaching this team?!

  • LinMad

maybe Roberts is PG cause Cliff knows his bigs are horrible. He needs Lin to help on getting to the rim too.

  • NONONO

    Roberts??? NONONO

  • zxcvb

    That was Roberts.

  • Whitman Lam

Waiters elbows Lin in the face, Lin gets called for a foul.

  • james brown

She probably won’t last in the NBA.

  • zxcvb

    She probably understands discrimination, heh.

The best player on the floor doesn’t get to touch the ball.

  • fatbob

lool, i had to laugh at that shot by hawes

  • zxcvb

Passing to Hawes is same as a TO, It’s clearly not going in and now there’s an easy transition look on the other end.

  • kauaiblue

    Why is jlin pg??

  • tom

Hawes please dont ever post up again

  • LinMad

Hawes need to work on his shots around the rim.

  • Whitman Lam

2nd time that Dion Waiters punched him in the face without a foul call.

  • Yes.. Philly big men is 2X better than Hornets

  • NONONO

Roberts plays like 60 years old. Hawes 50

  • Alain Gervais

all of our bigs are either too small or too skinny . a center shouldn’t be shooting threes

  • zxcvb

Also, his basketball skills in general.

  • kauaiblue

These guys sans jlin are terrible!

  • grover chang

Whose bright idea is to make Roberts pg when you have Lin right there.

  • zxcvb

Okafor and Noel are superb in their own ways. Even Ish Smith shines next to them!

  • grover chang

    They need more strength.

  • LinMad

ya that is a weird decision.

  • cshot

hawes is that tall guy at the rec you play with in a game of pick up and tries to shoot threes and constantly shoots and misses

  • aras

What the h*** is this team? seriously this team is not a playoff team…injuries or not we’ll see when they are healthy..but my god cant remember the last good game…

  • wandertheglobe

I don’t know what the Hornets Bigs shooting percentage from 3, but I just don’t think that’s a good game plan. Now, if they got guys like Steve Novak shooting 3s, that’s a different story.

  • zxcvb

It actually makes some sense here — game is over and Lin as PG would just get swarmed.

  • KL

Come on Jeremy. Might as well use this chance to practice your 3s…

  • 808JL7

FO doesn’t want Lin scoring and running the point. So sad for Lin.

  • NONONO

Hawes – cannot rebound, cannot setup screens, cannot layups. , cannot blocks. cannot…… Where is Hans????

  • LinMad

Batum needs to stop quitting on his team too

  • John Focker

    Coming right up!

  • fatbob

meh, lin doesn’t even care about this game lol, the team has god awful D, terrible perimiter D, terrible pnR D, lin just gave up, hes just trying to get HIS

  • grover chang

Yeah. Lin and psycho T together.

  • oh let’s go, Hansbrough.
Got rebound and bobbled it out

  • LinMad

I notice Tyler has butter fingers but he’s physical.

  • zxcvb

Welp, at this point Lin should just get stats and/or watch his %s.

  • Let’s hope they can connect 1 or 2 times

  • wandertheglobe

    Stats padding time.

  • grover chang

Psycho T got his mandatory foul out of the way quick.

  • NONONO

Time for Lin to practice spot up shots and 3s

  • LinMad

that’s his signature foul to let the other team know he’s on the court

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Why not let Lin be the PG?

  • NONONO

Hans and Lin got the same treatment from Clifford

  • kauaiblue

    What is clifford thinking?

  • tom

Because Clifford is a disrespectful person

  • grover chang

I expect Lin to try get some less played guys like hansbrough a basket. That’s his MO when game is over.

  • John Focker

    Will outshine Kemba badly.

  • LinMad

I noticed that lady ref has the same number 7 as Lin on her uniform. Maybe she is a LOF or has a crush on Lin.

  • kauaiblue

I have no idea why he keeps not being pg…

  • cshot

honestly i think hansborough has good chem w/lin and is much more of a factor than zeller

  • james brown

lins is not a stat padder!

    and thats a fact!

  • tom

    Why so many time outs
Games over like let it play out

  • NONONO

Clifford broke his promises long time ago

  • it’s so bizzare

  • LinMad

    could be taking Lin out

  • Briiick

Yes. This is the same as McHale did during the 2nd season of Lin with the Rox.

  • tom

Nah woman is a hater and got CP3 in trouble too
    shes a snake

  • wandertheglobe

Hornets will not make the playoffs this year if they continued playing like this.

  • fatbob

she has a lin poster in her bedroom

  • that’s true …

  • james brown

they don’t want to see and let other know the obvious!

  • LinMad

    what she do to CP3?

  • John Focker

Yeah, can’t let Lin outshine Morey’s crown jewel.

  • fatbob

he is tonight, lets go lin, lets get it

  • NONONO

So, Lin is Clifford’s 4th option to play PG

  • LAJane

not to be humorless or anything…but if a guy ref give a fair call, he’s fair. But if lady ref give a good call she has a crush, she’s got the hots, she’s an LOF? I’m sad.

  • LinMad

    or on her shower wall

  • fatbob

    lol, sounds dirty

  • NONONO

    they already gave up

  • tom

    CP3 complained about a call
She made it a sexism problem

  • golfhacker

    Good ball movement.

  • Alain Gervais

Lin always runs the offense the way its suppose to be

  • fatbob

    good D by hawes

  • John Focker

Can you honestly blame her if she does? LOL

  • LinMad

ball movement looks much better when Lin is running the point.

  • Alain Gervais

    hawes is not in

  • fatbob

    hawes in disguise

  • There you go. Lin assist to Roberts 3

  • james brown

    ????????

  • 808JL7

Such a head scratcher on why JLin is not allowed to play PG. Come on Lin just get your 20!

  • LinMad

    good ball movement going on

  • JoeTeam

Lin just cruising now, giving up good passes to guys.

  • sws94

Lin has to stop letting that Waiters push him around. Also, break his ankles and drive on him.

  • golfhacker

If Hornets get within 10 pts, Cliff better not bring starters back in.

  • LinMad

lol @ Tyler. He has a lot of energy compared to our other bigs.

  • Briiick

Recall that McHale used to let Bev handle the ball when Lin was in the 2nd unit of Rox.

  • Good aggressiveness by Hansbrough

    Toughness

  • Alain Gervais

waiters has 6 points 2 assist 3 tov

  • sws94

Hansbrough just took 2 away from Lin.

  • Alain Gervais

    it wasn’t going in

  • LAJane

    He out. Me too.

  • fatbob

true, hes 10X better than hawes

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin done

  • John Focker

    Rusted, Clifford’s fault.

  • John Focker

Out to get ramen for lunch.

  • Lady ref gave a T to Ibaka.

    She’s tough!

  • LAJane

    Enjoy!

  • Whitman Lam

Can’t touch the ball when it’s on the rim, gotta wait till it comes out.

  • Linsanity2.0

The Hornets are going to beat the Thunder— said no one ever

  • Look at Hansbrough with that steal

He just needs some more PT

  • LinMad

If Cliff let Lin touch the ball more and be point guard, we’d have a better chance at winning the game cause when Lin plays PG, he involves everyone.

  • Linsanity2.0

Lin played exactly 0 minutes at PG tonight… thats so sad

  • Yes, Lin also confirmed to Hansbrough that he did the right thing

  • Linsanity2.0

Kemba just sit out for 1 game and give Lin a full load at PG for just one game and see what he can do

  • FSW

    No pg controversy here lol

  • zxcvb

Yep. But as long as Kemba is here, he will statpad and ruin the season as he always does.

Cliff, Cho and MJ need to get their priorities straight. Do they want to win? Or do they want Kemba to score 20ppg on volume shooting?

  • FSW

    Lin rusty?

  • zxcvb

He’ll play on a broken leg and shoot 2-20 rather than risk that.

  • only 1-2 possessions towards the end, not enough

But it got assist on Roberts 3

  • Alain Gervais

he played the 2nd quarter as the pg

  • golfhacker

    Only 40 games left 🙂

  • zxcvb

Looks good to me. Even with no regular touches, he had 16pts on 11 FGA.

  • Alain Gervais

    maybe 3-5 minutes

  • zxcvb

Hard to tell, it might have. Lin was trying to make Tyler feel better.

  • John Focker

Ankle not fully back yet. Hopefully recovers during ASG.

  • zxcvb

That was him being a good teammate. It had a chance.

  • travis

Besides the fact that lin barely gets the ball , the wide open 3s they’ve been giving up has been atrocious

  • LinMad

seriously, and also batum needs to stay out of facilitating or at least do it less. That’s one of the main reasons I believe Lin doesn’t get to PG. Also Roberts too…they are clueless at how to play Lin. He can fit in perfectly with this team if Cliff made a few adjustments. Also Tyler needs more time cause our bigs are horrible.

  • zxcvb

Yeah, he’s not getting lift on his jumper, but he’s good enough to play. It’s part of the game to deal with light injuries during the season.

  • 808JL7

At least 5 more points for pizza. Nothing else to root for.

  • zxcvb

Terrible defense by bigs > overhelping by guards > wide-open 3s

  • sws94

Lin looks like he has some of his quickness back tonight. But the stability isn’t there when he cuts and stops. Played good. Had one weird TO but D was fabulous and O was good.

  • golfhacker

    There you go.

  • travis

Every game it seems like no adjustment

  • zxcvb

Kemba gets to be #1 scorer. Batum gets to be #1 passer. And the only guy who can do both well comes off the bench to play SF/SG.

  • LinMad

    Papa John’s isn’t that great

  • fatbob

damn, got to love psycho T, he shows alot of potential on the D

  • 808JL7

I won’t spend any money there. Guy is a racist. Just want them to lose money on 50% off deal.

  • zxcvb

No adjustment can be made without benching Kemba, moving Nic to SF and trading for a quality big man to protect the rim.

  • LinMad

Kemba did his damage then sat out. Batum did his damage and then quit on the team like usual. Lin out there trying to fix it, showing what team ball is all about then Cliff pulls the plug. That sums up the game today.

  • wandertheglobe

Next year, if Lin is still around, Papa John’s will probably up the freebees to 100 pts. In previous years, with just Kemba and Jefferson, the Hornets rarely break 90’s, sounds like my golf game, not in a good way.

  • heart

I haven’t seen KW made any double digits assists yet for 42 games. Have you?

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Painful to watch game this day. Anyhow good to see JLin got to get his stat. NBA robbed 1 rebound from him.

  • wandertheglobe

    What’s the story with him?

  • John Focker

They wanna showcase Kemba so they can get rid of his “rear”.

  • LinMad

I rarely see high single digits.

  • heart

Refs robbed him a few foul calls.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Nop! Don’t believe I see anything. Wonder whether did he ever make the double digits asts at all in his entire NBA career.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Waiters 2-9, say no more.

  • zxcvb

We all predicted it. Blowout loss with Kemba hogging early to get his stats, Lin underused, and horrible bigs who can’t make layups or contest shots.

  • LinMad

And where are the hornets fans that said Lin was bad today? Do they have anything to say about Batum or our bigs?

  • zxcvb

    I wish!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

NOP Gave up on Cliff long time ago. For me, only thing I want to see is JLin to get his stat and stay healthy.

  • Singapore BB Fan

Hornets Stung by More Injuries; Lin needs to play PG

    http://www.jlinportal.com/hornets-stung-by-more-injuries-lin-needs-to-play-pg/

-Batum and Zeller had to come out with injuries as the Thunder blew out Hornets 109-95
-JLin finished with 16pts/2asts with 6-11 shooting. He didn’t have long-distance touch so he smartly drove inside to get layups & FTs (4-4). He mostly played SG so he didn’t have a chance to orchestrate offense even with the 2nd unit as Brian Roberts played the PG.
-As usual, the big men couldn’t finish inside so the guards had to provide scoring
    – Hornets big men also got outrebounded. OKC won 51-34
    – Once again, Hornets allowed so many open 3s (9-24). Frank let Kyle Singler have a perfect 3-3
-Injuries aside, the Hornets still lost in rebounding and finishing by big men providing unbalanced offense. The 3PT defense was also too loose.

    Clifford needs:
1 to trust JLin to be the PG to leverage his biggest strength
2 play Hansbrough more to provide rebounding and toughness that Hawes lack
3 Insist on tight 3p defense

Without defense and reliable big men to provide inside scoring, Hornets will continue their losing ways

  • FSW

Cliff is clueless or politically correct to his stars
No chance of success letting Kemba run the offense – simply not good enough

  • sws94

He was ok. Some assists were produced by his penetration and dishing, some were because his guys knocked down their shots. He didn’t shoot the ball well at all. He had good steals but he takes bad gambles on defense. Westbrook is still a very flawed player in my opinion.

  • Linsanity2.0

Sixers have better big men than the Hornets.. they have Okafor and Noel.. Lin to the Sixers… sign a petition guys

  • Linsanity2.0

Lets go lets make it happen.. Lin to the sixers

  • Linsanity2.0

Noel is the perfect P and R big man for Lin he can finish at the rim and can defend the paint.. lets go Lin to the Sixers

  • zxcvb

Brooklyn may be more likely now. MDA was quoted complimenting Bryan Colangelo, who’s the top GM candidate.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Linsanity2.0

lol okkk… still a better player than Kemba and Lin combined

  • tom

    Thats not gonna do anything
Lets just hope he doesnt sign back with them

  • Linsanity2.0

Make it happen dont be a bystander

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Not one single Hornets’ big can play PnR with anyone. Except Tyler who we haven’t seen yet.

  • tom

    No matter the circumstances
Contracts are to be respected as much as I hate Clifford

  • zxcvb

Brandon Simmons is 100% correct. Only Lin gives a s*** at this point. Everyone else sees Kemba and Nic being 100% immune from criticism, so why should they care?

Lin is the ultimate team player, so he’ll do the dirty work while Kemba scores the points…but no one else on this team is like that. I hope MJ, another ultra-competitor, is paying attention.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Clifford is going down to be another carrying water coach.

  • zxcvb

Tyler has been pretty bad, but you can’t really blame him — not many minutes to gain a rhythm, feel.

Even Greg Smith would be 10X better than any big on this roster. At least he can catch and dunk.

  • LinMad

it’s what I call the diva treatment. Funny thing is that Lin is probably a bigger star than anyone else on the team but he doesn’t give a damn that he’s being crucified by the coach. He’s giving it his all on defense and offense.

  • sws94

I think Marv plays hard and cares too. Lin is one of the guys that cares but not the only one.

  • grover chang

Tyler doesn’t play because Clifford hates fouls.

  • zxcvb

Ruined Houston and the Knicks. They’re stuck as treadmill teams despite major $$$ being spent by owernship. And of course the Lakers…oy vey.

  • John Focker

Unlike severe injuries like sprained toes… Smh

  • zxcvb

Lately, I’ve seen him stop caring on defense. Or maybe he’s just getting run down (he’s built more like a SF but playing PF every game).

  • very possible

  • unfortunately :[

  • sws94

I don’t think Marv is the type to not care. He may get run down, but he’s a guy that gives what he has on the floor.

  • John Focker

It’d be quicker to name teams who DON’T have better bigs than Hornets.

  • sws94

This is an erroneous thing that people keep saying over and over here. Lin does NOT need to be the PG. He needs to be involved in most plays. That’s all. If Lin is involved in most plays let whoever they want bring the ball up the court. Cliff is calling many of the plays anyway (whether the team runs them or not). Lin can facilitate fine from the 2, that is what Batum does when he plays. But Lin has to be in the flow of the offense. That’s the problem more than if he’s PG or SG.

When Lin did well in preseason, Roberts was the PG often. But many times, Lin was in the flow of the offense.

  • sws94

As long as Lin is involved, gets touches, good things happen. It doesn’t need to be so rigid. Kemba at times, Batum at times, Lin at times. But more Lin. There’s not enough Lin in the offense when playing with those two and it has been long enough now.

  • adele

Painful to watch with these refs phantom fouls and the kind of play Clifford is orchestrating. This will be a long painful season with the Hornets

  • adele

He wants to be in the hall of fame for number of points.

  • adele

Yes. But what I can’t believe is why did Clifford allow Lin to guard Durant? And where’s Hairston or at least one big to double team Durant? What kind of coaching is that for the lights of me?

  • adele

If you have a dirty player like Ibaka, a smart coach should unleash a psycho T to counter that dirty player. But well, what can you expect of Cliffords coaching pattern and style?

  • adele

No. Lin is unsure of his role and position in this team. Confused even the kind of coaching and type of coach Clifford is.

  • adele

    Don’t count on it.

  • adele

Until the all stars are announced, specially the ones voted by the coaches, expect Kemba to continue his shooting games to the max

  • adele

Don’t worry. He is a politician actually. Plays politics with this team.

  • adele

I saw it at the beginning of the season. A few believes, but I had a strong feeling by the time they start Hairston instead of Lin.

  • adele

Like a Novak? Then he will be a journey man. Let Lin be a true PG. That’s his strength and be with a coach who doesn’t play politics and will see his true value as a team player

  • adele

Who else but the smartest of them all. Clifford

  • heart

Hi Adele, Happy New Year to you! Though Hornets season is not going well, I hope you and yours are. Nice to hear from you.

  • Lin Win

If you have no facts or solid evidence about NBA rigging results then there’s no reason to continue making conspiracy theories. If J Lin knows he doesn’t deserve to be in the Allstars.

  • Lin Win

2012 NBA All Star Rookie Game
Guess you really are just a bandwagon fan.

  • Lin Win

They do. It’s international voting which is why Yao Ming was All star vote leader once or twice.

  • Lin Win

It was Shaq vs Chuck which is still an All Star game.
Even Lin himself said he doesn’t deserve to be in the Allstars yet some fans just ignore his opinion.

  • Lin Win

The BBVA Rising Stars Challenge featured the best first-year players (‘Rookies’) and the best second-year players (‘Sophomores’) going at each other. The game was divided into two twenty-minute halves, similar to college basketball. For this edition of the Rising Stars Challenge, a pool of the participating players was selected by the league’s assistant coaches.

    Don’t be delusional!

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_NBA_All-Star_Game

  • Lin Win

    What?

  • Lin Win

Of course I want Lin to win. However with these stats he doesn’t deserve to be a starter in the All star. People only care about stats and Lin doesn’t have them.

  • Lin Win
  • Lin Win

Everybody can “think” some happens. Why didn’t they rigged the results for Yao Ming? Yao Ming was always first for his conference.
Of course there will be cheers in the stadium. It was home court for Lin anyway.

J Lin’s allstar votes are decreasing year by year so unless J Lin posts up another Linsanity period I don’t see him ever making it into All Stars.

  • Dorothy

LOL, Rookie game is not voted in, FYI, but you said “Did NBA rigged Jeremy Lin when he made it into the Allstars when he was in NYK?” SMH

  • adele

Hi Heart, I’ve been a bit busy lately. Did I tell you that my birthday is January 1? So it’s a never ending celebration for this month for me. Hope your 2016 will bring more blessings to you and your family as well.

  • Linzen

    Why are you so hostile?
The announcement were made BEFORE Linsanity. But, because of the popularity of JLin at the time. NBA chose to change the selection at the last minute to include him. It has NEVER done before. And it has never been done since then.

Because of your last sentence, I have flagged your post. Please be respectful to the all other posters and the forum.

  • Lin Win

Who said I didn’t know about that? He didn’t even get voted to go on the rookie games. Look at my old posts when I linked the BBVA link.
