G3 ATL @CHA Game Thread

After 2 road games in which the Hornets failed to finish the comeback with a win in the 4th quarter, will a home game help them to notch the 1st win?
Will the Hornets fix the transition defense that gave up so many easy points?

JLin struggled in the beginning but as Coach Clifford strongly urged him to shoot, he helped make the comeback.

I’m in the opinion that JLin sets the tone of the offense, when he’s aggressive to not hesitate to shoot in the preseason, his teammates follow his confidence the next time he passes them.
But when he is being too careful, his teammates also follow the suit.

I predict JLin will bounce back to be aggressive especially after Coach Clifford encouraged him to keep shooting to help his teammates.
They need leadership from JLin and I think he will lead them in Game 3

Let’s continue to hope/pray/wish/support JLin to stay healthy and have fun to play his aggressive game whenever he steps on the court

Let’s go, HairSanity!

hello everyone.. i hope today we will get the first win .

    • Briiick

No Lin no Lin ! We Lin fans know where the large probability lies. Hopefully the heads in Hornets get desperate enough to cut the wishful plans and unleash Lin.

    • Rzo Vlade

      any news starting line up

    • Chipdip

      Go Lin Go!

    • KHuang

      Go HORNETS, go!

Aside from Jefferson and Williams and Batum and Walker, not a single NBA player on this roster is considered “proven”. That includes Lin.

Several of Lin’s teammates have not yet figured out how to hold their own in the NBA against quality opposition. So Lin will have to work with then and encourage them to play better, which Lin is THE BEST at doing.

Even among Lin’s “proven” teammates, they haven’t played with a truly unselfish team player like Lin. It’s not that they’re treating him selfishly, it’s that they have to relearn a whole new style of play.

I have full faith in the willingness and professionalism of this team. I have some doubts about the talent, but I’ll never doubt a Lin team.

    • Brent Yen

Lin saved your time by joining Hornets…lol

    • sws94

he lacks a good center offensively and defensively like Chandler, Jeffries or Davis. Hansbrough isn’t playing so we can’t count him. He lacks an athletic wing to receive his lobs. Daniels has been out so he doesn’t have the 3point gunner either. In Houston he had 3point shooters and centers in his bench squad to use. This is a big challenge.

    • Rick Johnson

Still going to push this Hairston dung. SMH

Troy Daniels (hamstring) available to play today. Rookie Aaron Harrison will be inactive. Same 5 @hornets starters.
      https://twitter.com/rick_bonnell/status/660870769652703232

    • Rzo Vlade

      lol

    • KHuang

Aside from me feeling that Jeffries and Davis didn’t have the bulk to play center, I agree.

But I also feel that even without Hansbrough, this Charlotte bench can be pretty tough if Lin gets them to believe in themselves.

    • KHuang

I don’t know if I should be happy or unhappy.

I’m glad that Lamb is being paired with Lin, and I’m glad both players are not having to stand idly while Al Jefferson ballhogs early.

Part of me wants both Lin and Lamb to start, but the reality is that Charlotte cannot run anything but Al Jefferson iso because Jefferson lacks the skill to do anything else when he’s in the game.

    • KHuang

It’s a lot like a few years ago when Tyler Hansbrough and Roy Hibbert were beasting in the East on the same team.

Send Nick Young over too, as I’m quietly following the Lakers solely because of him and somewhat because I like Marcelinho Huertas.

    • Briiick

Lin has always figured out the 2nd time when he was in similar situation, not sure about Hornets though.

    • sws94

I think he should bring up the ball quick and look to run in the 2nd unit. Don’t let the Hawks set their defense up. Lin needs to run and try for early offense against them.

    • Rick Johnson

JLin should come out shooting to attract defense to get his teammates open. Passing to them first trying to get them going doesn’t work when they are bricking. Make it easy for them by coming out blazing to free them up. Then start making brilliant no-look passes.

    • KHuang

As long as Lin’s team protects the defensive end while moving aggressively without the ball on offense, that should not be a problem against any NBA opponent.

    • KHuang

But what if the Hawks start out with 3 guys on Lin the instant he crosses midcourt like last game?

    • sws94

Agree. I think he’ll shoot today seeing that CC was on him the last game to shoot.

    • sws94

Have a counter. If they do that, someone will be open. Make them pay for it.

    • KHuang

      Any suggestions?

If Lin’s PG and his teammates again don’t come to play, this is what I’d halfheartedly suggest he do:

      1) Drive RIGHT AT either Hawes or Zeller. That way if they’re just standing around in a spot, they’ll be forced to move because the tripleteam will engulf them as well as Lin.

      2) Penetrate all the way under the baseline and come out the other side. Lin is a master of this move, though Atlanta would likely seal off Lin’s baseline exit on the other side.

      3) Dribble toward Lamb, hand the ball off, then siphon Lamb’s defender away by running away from Lamb.

      4) When not on the ball, attempt a FAKE POSTUP that causes opponens to collapse on Lin down low. That would free up Lin’s teammates on the other side of the court.

    • Rick Johnson

JLin needs a big like Tyson Chandler or Ed Davis who are on the same brainwave, good instincts . They know how JLin is going to move and where to be to receive quick passes.

    • GoodDayLA

      Totally

    • Rick Johnson

Lin paired with Anthony Davis would be glorious.

    • KHuang

But what if those guys are NOT THERE?

Kaminsky and Hansbrough are, but neither of them actually play enough minutes to rate.

      Then what?

I’m not trolling you. I find your point interesting and am trying to figure out how to make it work.

    • blubell
    • Spot

Same starters? No Lin, no win. Again.

    • KHuang

Lin winning in the minutes he plays is NOT ENOUGH.

The team has to win too.

    • Rick Johnson

Ya, that’s a problem. They need a big with good hands and good instincts that can roll to the basket. Perhaps Hansbrough? Pick and pop to Hawes or Zeller I don’t think is reliable enough to be enough of a threat to get them to ease off JLin.

    • blubell

Reporter points out the NBA ruling on Jeremy’s steal to Clifford
      https://twitter.com/hornets/status/660878173161316352

    • Rick Johnson

Didn’t even know league had said foul call on Jeremy was an error?

    • grover chang

Hawks loaded up on three point line and had someone stay close to the rim once Lin passed the initial defense at the 3 point line. Hawks are playing analytic defense. No 3 pointers, No drives to the rim. Here is to hoping Lin and the Hornets practiced the midrange jumper.

    • Spot

      ??

    • blubell

I was surprised that he didn’t know. Glad the reporter pointed it out.

    • Spot

That’s the problem. JLin can’t always close the gap.

When you lead the game you play with confidence and shots go in. When you are behind you know you can’t miss.

Jeremy is already doing miracles but that’s not enough to win games.

Clifford is just another old school coach who sees Jeremy as a soft energy guy who can contribute, not the difference maker he is.

    • Rick Johnson

Sounds like from coach JLin should have held the trap. But from JLin point of view it was to let him out of the trap to go for the steal. Would have worked if official didn’t make a bogus foul call.

    • blubell

I bet Jeremy’s jerseys will sell out soon 🙂
      https://twitter.com/PeteGuelli/status/660881769508552704

    • Spot

Still waiting for the White Swingman. Hopefully it’ll be available for Christmas time ?

    • Riddick

Still waiting for ‘Lin’s’ team jersey. Hopefully it’ll be next season. ;-p

    • blubell

Let’s hope this is the last stop so we can clean out the team store. lol.

    • Rick Johnson

I got the custom Swingman. Was disappointed that the number wasn’t stitched.

    • Rick Johnson

If Korver goes off it will further demonstrate that Batum at SG is a failure. If Bazemore goes off then Hairston at SF is a failure. If both go off then whole staring lineup is bunk.

    • Riddick

hmmm…. then coach is a failure sticking w/a lineup that doesn’t work.

    • blubell

At the Hive pregame show – Rick Bonnell said Jeremy will always be on the floor in the 4th because he can hit the big shots.

    • Riddick

That’s true, but why doesn’t the coach try starting Lin so they can play down, instead of relying on Lin to always bail them out in the 4th…just an idea.

    • blubell
    • Briiick

They only have one spot open in the first unit to keep Batum for the long term, the 2. They will keep trying until they realize there are better choices.

    • Spot

I didn’t want the custom for 2 reasons:

      1) more money

      2) they have to believe in Jeremy

    • Spot

If Korver plays is little Charlotte can do with this rotation and with Kemba floor general.

    • Riddick

Well, then I’m confused. Does Hornets want to win or teach Batum to become a 2? If it’s the latter, I hope Lin gets his & moves on…nothing new here.

    • TTNN

I’m glad the reporter asked. That trap somehow was defect.. I think Zeller cover the angle was not right, thus Lin could not seal the base line

    • heart

You and I know when it comes to Lin, they have to face the impossible before it becomes possible for Lin to have an opportunity. And by then, it usually would be by default when all else fails for them. In the mean time, we know that Lin will continue to do his job for team wins. Just hope Lin adjusts well and gets his stats no matter what happens.

    • Rick Johnson

I don’t know how long that’s going to take. They only have Walker and MGK Swingman. Walker doesn’t even have the white one. Jefferson doesn’t even have a Swingman. Have to change expectations with small market teams. Took them all summer before they even came out with regular JLin jersey.

    • Briiick

Hornets want Batum and/or Lin, in this order. The top brains are obviously obsessed with Batum at 2 now until enough pain builds up.

    • blubell
    • grover chang

Hornets do have some of the best looking gear.

    • Riddick

      Their loss then!

    • heart

It bothers me that Coach Clifford was not aware or been informed of the correction on NBA last seconds’ call on Lin. He should have known before today’s game to game plan and correct their error if he said that was supposed to be a trap rotation.

    • sws94

      Great.

    • LAJane

I’m not so sure he’s old school and actually disagree that he doesn’t think Jeremy is the difference maker. I truly believe it’s unwise and unworkable to push a new guy down the throats of management (MJ) and teammates (KW) who are already established as important. I don’t believe that’s ever successful because it creates dissension and bad blood. I believe he is persistently pushing against those restraints and that Lin has a big role, likely even ultimately a starting role, in his mind. Per this thread, Lin alone can’t close the whole gap. Coach has all the other players to encourage and herd onto the same page too.

    • Briiick

Hornets will not have a chance to test Batum at 2 with MKG at 3, this is the reason that they will keep running the experiment for a longer time because they think it’s not the fault of Batum at 2 (for the losses) but MKG not playing.

    • occupatio

all teague does in shootaround is practice his floater motion. thats something he really works on.

    • blubell
    • blubell
    • Nonono

Lin, no hesitation today. 15-20 shots at least.

    • blubell
    • LAJane

However…he was less concerned about the NBA recognizing their error than he was about the players messing up the trap. For sure he’s had a discussion with them about THAT 🙂 Maybe something good could have come out of a successful steal, but that’s the luck of a spur-of-the-moment recovery. What he wants for consistent success is consistently executed plays.

Marvin Williams already with 3 threes.

    • David Kim

Why Batum doesn’t guard SG? Coach knows he is not fast enough to defense SG?

2 TOs for Batum… double teamed.

wow the hawks are a great team, excellent defense

      Hornets looking pitiful right.

lol stupid mj loves hairston too much

    • sws94

They have moments when they look good. Hawks are just better.

    • devin23

      This starting lineup is trash…

    • wandertheglobe

Hornets have no answer for Hawks aggressive offense and trapping D.

    • Rzo Vlade

no movement to free up others screen baseline like a jj redick play

    • Derek Kong

No lin no win. Cliffraud go home!

    • Alain Gervais

Not really its mostly their defense thats the issue

    • LAJane

      Cliffraud?

    • I am The Jason

Sadly this is true. Looks like a long long season.

    • blubell
    • Riddick

      Same lineup…enough said.

    • David Kim

Gotta change the starting line up…Even Lin can not close the gap always….

    • I am The Jason

Seriously, what happened to the preseason Hornets???? They just up and vanished.

    • David Kim

      nice assist..!!!

    • blubell

      bogus foul on Jeremy..

    • stam

How was that even a foul lol

    • I am The Jason

Wilkins starting his Lin diss again. I can’t take it.

    • GoodDayLA

messed up ref #17 is here. He is one of the worst. Lin hater.

    • blubell

      Watch the Hornets feed 🙂

    • Alain Gervais

i had to mute the broadcast just so much stuff. saying lin cant guard this or that.

    • I am The Jason

      I would if I could.

    • blubell

      Sorry…

    • blubell

      Both Freebies made

    • JJ Hui

They changed the line up! Not efficient anymore!

    • David Kim

my fios is so slow…gotta upgrade lol..

    • blubell
    • devin23

The starting lineup will did a hole every time against competent teams that the bench won’t be able to overcome. Lin really does need to start.

    • wandertheglobe

Well, good news is Atlanta is one of the top teams in the East.

    • JoeTeam

nice 2 FTs … I sorta hate the ‘surprisingly good at getting FTs” line. These announcers think they need to coddle all the fans for Lin, after 6 hrs and Linsanity being all kinds of contact inside. No big, happy Halloween game!

    • sws94

PFV says mute if you have Atlanta feed.

    • blubell
    • Wayne Li

First unit needs some one to drive to the paint, could not only rely on jump shots.

    • orLinaryjoe

Try LP trial and Hornets feed. Oh, heaven.

    • linfan

Jeremy walking ball up standing there waiting for play to develop – not his game?

    • David Kim

      LIN!!!!!!Drive LIn!!!!!!

    • blubell
    • devin23

Hawes is so trash. Play kam instead..

    • grover chang

they are guarding the 3 and rim, take midrange

    • redking79

Hornets do not look good together. They definitely need more time to gel.

    • Bearness

      This is painful to watch…

    • Alain Gervais

      Stop driving there nothing there

    • grover chang

no space to drive. Go MDA. four corners high pnr with Lin.

    • stam

      Step back jumper please!

    • redking79

Hawes is definitely out of his game today. Faking a 3 when he was wide open, then NOT faking the 3 when Horford rushed him. Hornets have no low post players except for Al Jefferson. Even Hawes is a perimeter guy.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Clifford needs to mix things up..Hawes hasn’t been too good during the past 2 games…why not let the other guys into the rotation for a few minutes..guys like Hanborough….He needs to play other players whenever the current players aren’t doing so well.

    • devin23

He hasn’t really been making any noise in previous games either. Kam should def replace him. Nothing to lose.

    • sws94

      Shoot midrange against this defense.

    • I am The Jason

The Hawks are guarding the paint because The Hornets are not shooting well at all.

    • Rick Johnson

You’d think after Officials blowing last game for the Hornets with a bad call they would try to make it up by giving the Hornets some decent calls.

    • blubell

3 assists and more to go 🙂

    • LAJane

Y’know, they’re getting OK looks, but in both these Hawks games their shots just do not fall. Shooting slump 🙁

    • Riddick

Cliff’s in stuck mode with players/linup.

    • GoodDayLA

      Lin is horrible again. *SIGH*

    • GoodDayLA

      it’s not a shooting slump.

    • sws94

      No, he’s not.

    • devin23

Hawes is pathetic. Playing lazy, not looking for the ball.

    • redking79

Ugly possession there. Lin seems gun shy after missing two 3s. He either needs to take it himself or give it to Lamb and let him drive. Everyone else seems to like standing around.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

The Hornets simply can’t handle the corner trap well…Lin, himself, has looked very uncomfortable there…I wished there’s stop dribbling toward the corners.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

WTH? Hawk, want me to catch the ball for you?

    • David Kim

Hawes set the screen like Jordan Hill….LOL

    • grover chang

Lin playing defense but invisible on offense, not even trying to get to the rim.

    • stam

When did Lin have a block? they actually credited him?

    • Ttt

Coach needs to take him out!

    • Alain Gervais

Not with 4 people in the paint

    • Rzo Vlade

      teague

    • Riddick

You & buzzcity? should start your own forum. smh

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Hawl is terrible, need Tyler to free Lin.

    • BUZZCITY17

      Lin attack the basket !

    • LAJane

Well whatever you call it…they get open shots and nothing is going in.

    • Rzo Vlade

      step back jumpers

    • orLinaryjoe

Tell hawes to get the ball, lol. Just stood there.

    • sws94

He’s driving but I think he should be using his mid-range shot more.

    • stam

They keep double teaming him so i think he’s having a hard time getting space

    • GoodDayLA

He is afraid to shoot. He should have shot that shot he passed to Spencer Hawes.

    • grover chang

I say do it anyways, I’ve seen Lin go through four people before. He needs to be successful once and the collapsing will start to get easy outlet passes. Hawks are playing defense on their toes, not their heels.

    • Bearness

Lin needs a pick and roll partner.

    • grover chang

agree, you break zone defenses with midrange shots after initial penetration.

    • stam

Lin is bandaging or putting something on his knee

    • sws94

Thats what Lin should do, what Kemba just did.

    • Dorothy

He was fouled by Teag earlier and felll

    • LAJane

You’re not the only one that does this…no actual idea whatsoever what Lin’s mind is, nor coach’s. Just throw out stuff like “afraid”. Emotionally speaking, the best defense is an offense 😉

    • grover chang

Yes, midrange, that’s what they are giving you. Now Kamiksy with midrange teardrop.

    • devin23

I’ve seen enough. Replace hawes and zeller with kam and tyler on the bench. Or else, even the bench is gonna be bad, like the starting lineup.

    • Wayne Li

Really don’t understand JLin’s mind set now, he stopped to shoot balls even wide open ones.

    • JoeTeam

ok, honestly my first look at Buzz City this year. Some thoughts:

      – Atlanta are no slouches on D
      – Lin is not really playing his game this rotation. Part of it is his team play v good D adjustments by ATL, and part of it is how they are coached because Lin is moving the ball around the perimeter first instinct. So, the ball goes away fast from him and then it gets into JLambs hands and that guy has no problem taking a shot esp because he’s not initiating play.

Shall keep watching, don’t get discouraged. We are nowhere near crunch time when JLin will exert himself. He’s just playing team game so far, and it’s not his style of team game. I know, it’s not fun.

    • grover chang

Walker just drove through 4 guys. Lin could do that too and help his team.

    • JoeTeam

another thing, his last missed 3, not a good odds thing pulling back a fake pass and going for a longer 3 at the elbow. On the line, maybe how they practiced the thousands. A step back, you gotta be a Steph. So, I didn’t expect that to go because of the quick fake pass that preceded the attempt and the one step off line IIRC.

    • JoeTeam

it’s not how they are being coached and it’s early so Lin will stay with the game plan for now.

    • LAJane

It was a hard fall too. And he’s been taking some mean charges in these Hawks games. Gotta be sore all over.

    • stam

walker gets banged up too man…

    • sws94

Kemba’s got to make that one on the fast break. But Kemba looks more confident and skilled than Lin out there against Atlanta.

    • Rzo Vlade

      mj loves hairston

    • GoodDayLA

You guys really think Lin is depressed mentally because he didn’t get to start at SG? I know other teams are now playing for real so it’s much tougher and more competitive but Lin looks like a different person out there.

    • stam

it seems like lin doesn’t really know his role yet.

    • sws94

      No. He’s out of sync.

    • grover chang

because he is attacking, Lin is not. Making Lin look like he has no heart. Fans will forgive you if they see you fighting.

    • BUZZCITY17

He looks mentally weak out there

    • JoeTeam

heh heh, I’m back to all my Lin cycles, that is, checking box and when he’s out, I’m doing other things. I don’t care how the team does wo Lin because you know, it’s just a 1-2 yr job for Lin for now.

    • Rzo Vlade

floater jumper I wanna see this…………………call a jj reddick play

    • Alain Gervais

Lin has 2 mores assist one less TOV. Kemba has 3 more points.

    • GoodDayLA

      ok

    • sws94

But he’s able to break down the defense better, looks sharper and better under pressure.

    • KHuang

      Lin’s playing 3 on 5 out there.

He’s got Lamb and Kaminsky and two stiffs.

Try Lin with Hansbrough and Williams. It’ll make a GIGANTIC difference, trust me.

    • GoodDayLA

Bemba looks A LOT better than Lin tonight. I want Lin to succeed so bad but Kemba looks much better than Lin today. I hate to admit it. Hate it.

    • KHuang

      Lin’s defended.

      Walker is not.

    • grover chang

I don’t think he is depressed. I see the same problem he had early on with the Lakers. He is thinking too much. While he is thinking the other team is attacking him. He just needs to look for a gap and take it to the hole a couple times.

    • sws94

He doesn’t play PG well now. He’s rusty,

    • Alain Gervais

Lin set to get 2 less minutes this haif

    • Riddick

It seems to me that ur weak all around, dude.

    • BUZZCITY17

      Because he’s not being aggressive

    • sws94

Everyone is defended by Atlanta. Lin is not in sync.

    • KHuang

Too many defenders on Lin because Lin’s teammates cannot make opponents pay.

    • grover chang

He has look like that before. Nothing new. Then some other day when his mind is more free he looks awesome. He is thinking too much.

    • redking79

Can’t blame Clifford. Starters looking good cutting the deficit.

    • GoodDayLA

There are not double and triple teams. Just hard shows on pick and roll and Lin is dead and teammates do nothing with it to abuse the hard show.

Guess coach didn’t bother to watch game film and tell the guys what to do in 2nd game of back to back.

    • CJSHYY

      2nd unit looks bad…?!

    • zxcvb

Same lineups, same results. It’s all about spacing and balance.

Putting Lin w/ the 2nd unit makes both Lin and the 1st unit 1000X easier to defend.

Awful, awful offense. CHA struggling to crack 40 at the half.

    • LAJane

Yup. Gotta little sand-prime-paint on a window sill to get done before the big El Nino predicted rains come. Just keep one eye on the game 🙂

    • Hope

Lin plays good. I think coach took him out because he doesn’t take that open 3.

    • grover chang

Why doesn’t Lin just go the opposite way, away from the screen then.

    • zxcvb

I think it was the near-TOs w/ Hawes…total confusion between the two.

    • Alain Gervais

Don’t forget he is playing with better players

    • KHuang

      Not Lin’s call.

      Don’t blame JUST Lin.

Basketball is a TEAM sport. Lin cannot overturn everything by himself.

    • Riddick

      Go after Crawford, Cliff!!!

    • sws94

He took him out because the team was down and he didn’t look effective, imo. Kemba came in and made a difference.

    • blubell
    • sws94

Lin needs Zeller with him, not Hawes. Hawes is playing poorly.

    • grover chang

Lin is trying to run the offense and becoming predictable. Lin is best when things look unpredictable with his aggression.

    • KHuang

Opponents blitz over the screens while sending over help to pick off passes to Lin’s slow stationary screener.

    • Alain Gervais

Im a bit disappointed at how the Hornets looked so far. Look just like last game

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Hawes is not good. Just too slow.

    • zxcvb

Because it’s the same lineups. Same problems.

    • sws94

Better ball movement and less Alfense. 2nd team still has big problems.

    • Briiick

      Well said.

    • blubell
    • KHuang

If Zeller and Hawes could attack like Lamb and Kaminsky, Atlanta could not do those crushing traps on Lin.

    • wandertheglobe

      46-39

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin has to play with the first and second units in both 2Q and 4Q.

    • zxcvb

Kemba is -5, Lin is -2. Let’s not go crazy.

    • BUZZCITY17

Disappointed in Lin so far.. Not the breakout season we all thought he was going to have

    • KHuang

Lin needs NEITHER the clueless Zeller or the slow stationary Hawes.

Lin needs Kaminsky, Lamb, Batum, Hansbrough, and even Brian Roberts.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Hawk is so bad as big man. Why the #$@% can’t Tyler replace him for some minutes?

    • sws94

Yep, we determine the season after 2 1/2 games. Does that seem practical to you?

    • BUZZCITY17

Kemba isn’t afraid to attack, whereas Lin is hesitant on everything he does

    • zxcvb

Until they start Lin, Hornets are going to look like this against every good team.

    • KHuang

      Accepted.

With these funky Charlotte lineups, neither the first nor 2nd team are playing well.

I’d like Lin to be deployed a bit differently for the team to win.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

The offense is no different with BS except more ball movement outside the 3 point line means nothing.

    • kauaiblue

      Yeah, me too…

    • GoodDayLA

starting Lin won’t change anything. If anything they’ll hang him out to dry and he’ll look worse. Like Lin looked vs. Phoenix last season in a Laker uniform.

    • sws94

Forget that. Look at how each is playing. Kemba has more determination and more poise and in the first quarter, didn’t do a bad job of getting his team mates involved. Defensively he isn’t great, Lin’s been better there.

    • Riddick

I’m not sure if Cliff can change lineups w/i the game.

    • KHuang

Charlotte’s 3 point shooters are all on the bench, and the only player of those who plays much is Lin.

    • zxcvb

It would change everything actually. Spacing, balance, multiple ballhandlers.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Yes he can anytime.

    • Alain Gervais

First unit putting second unit in a bad spot. The momentum seem to always be against them.https://twitter.com/CNM_JLin_Vids/status/660910724173053952

    • GoodDayLA

Lin at SG? yeah probably would. Lin at PG? He’d look even worse

    • Riddick

      Ok, ‘can’ but won’t.

    • KHuang

      No adjustments.

Clifford needs to STEP UP and DO SOME COACHING.

    • Alain Gervais

I have no idea why Lin is the last off the bench. ITs like they are avoiding their best unit

    • KHuang

That’s what I wrote BEFORE the season started.

It was garbage time before Lin even came in.

    • Riddick

Don’t post ‘we all’. Just u( own it dawg )!

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Even under McHale, he was the first.

    • KHuang

      Huh?

You mean that one game where Lin outscored Eric Bledsoe 18-6?

    • zxcvb

Another game where Lin/Kemba/Batum will lead a 4Q comeback that comes up just short.

What is the front office aversion to playing their best players for max minutes? Must the entire franchise bend over backwards to please Big Al and PJ Hairston?

    • GoodDayLA

all summer my veiled concerned about Clifford having the balls and courage was based on my fears this would occur.

Been watching NBA basketball way too long not to see it coming as I’ve seen many other teams operate like this and stick themselves in mediocrity.

It’s tough and I fear the worst is yet to come.

Charlotte Bobcats have always been forgettable and it seems to be still going on.

Weak forgettable basketball is being played. And the coaching is mostly to blame.

    • KHuang

Because Clifford thinks Hansbrough is “too short and too small” at 6’9″ 250 lbs.

    • Alain Gervais

Lastly kimensky needs to take Zellers minutes

    • GoodDayLA

I said “guess COAHC didn’t bother” not Lin didn’t bother.

    • GoodDayLA

VERY good point. Trickery is not in Lin’s arsenal.

    • JoeTeam

this is it, getting stuff done while waiting for Win Lin time. Me, I’m downloading Halloween pics for family.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Clifford so far does not walk the talk, last man off the bench is like borderly third string.

    • GoodDayLA

Zeller is actually not very good. Hawes is a backup low usage guy for a reason. I agree

    • Wayne Li

Here is what was wrong with JLin’s mind, he is trying hard to be someone he isn’t: pass first PG.

If you are playing with superstars, it would be good mind set. But you forget that you are playing with bunch of bench players or rookies. Very dispointed with this kind of immaturity from JLin.

    • sws94

He’s getting starter minutes or close to it and he finished the first two games. In this game, I don’t know if he’s earning the right to finish. But he can play better and probably will in the 2nd half.

    • JoeTeam

      Yes Sir!

    • takemeback2reaganyears

If that’s the case he’s not a good coach, he should look at high reaching and elevating quickness.

    • sws94

      AGREEE.

    • JoeTeam

Lin is pretty good with no looks, fakes, etc. Don’t agree.

    • Rzo Vlade

I want to see the floater and the jumpshot different kind of offense from jlin so far Ive seen none

    • JoeTeam

It’s just the game plan and right now it’s not time to take over.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Under 30 is not starter minutes.

    • sws94

He’s definitely reverted from preseason or even Game 1 vs. Miami. He’s got to utilize his over the summer skills he improved on more and his midrange shot.

    • devin23

Wonder how many losing games its going to take for coaching staff to make some lineup adjustments…

    • David Kim

      30min playing as bench player???
      Not gonna happen….

    • Riddick

I’ve been questioning coach’s decisions from the get go. Still questioning it. Ain’t seen nothing yet!

    • devin23

Exactly. I’m wondering where all the jump shoots from the preseason is at. He’s taken none these past games.

    • joyce ward

Exactly. Lin doesn’t have a terrible mindset, he is figuring things out. Coach is putting in who needs to stop the bleeding.

    • adele

Because Kemba is treated like a star. He has the confidence to shoot. Our Lin is still getting into the rythm and treated as a back up. He is the new comer. The coaches doesn’t really think that he is the difference maker. In their minds he is a back up. And probably in Lin’s mind, and in reality, he is a back up.

    • Riddick

      …up vote x10!

    • GoodDayLA

Silas “They’re putting pressure on our PGs on the pick and roll and they are not making very good decisions”

This is from Silas a big Lin supporter.

So coaches think Lin is messing up along with Kemba

    • adele

They change the line up from the pre season. That would have been great.

    • David Kim

Why Batum playing as SG if he can not guard opponent SG and not better passer than Lin?
Hornets trying so hard make Batum SG..LOL

    • blubell

      Game tied!

    • David Kim

      Lamb not LIN???

    • sws94

First unit looks great now. Especially on defensive effort. Batum much better today.

    • Lx

put lin in already tired of watching this mess.

    • sws94

What are you talking about? They tied the game and Lin hasn’t been a difference maker in this game at all.

    • Wayne Li

Digging out from deep holes would never be good plan.

    • Rick Johnson

Clifford made some half time adjustments? Not used to Lin having a coach that can make adjustments since MDA.

    • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

Lin seem like a mess not the first unit lol

    • sws94

Its close to it and he’s FINISHED games. That’s big that he is finishing games.

    • JoeTeam

It’s not Lin’s plan yep. We’re watching a team in transition because it’s all new …

    • JoeTeam

I’m not so sure about what you post.

    • GoodDayLA

      WRONG

Silas “They’re putting pressure on our PGs on the pick and roll and they are not making very good decisions”

This is from Silas a big Lin supporter.

    • GoodDayLA

GEEZUS this is a quote from TV when he was talking. Give me a break. YOU are in denial.

    • sws94

No hesitation on that shot by Kemba.

    • David Kim

If coach had to change starting line up, i think he will make Lamb starting SG not Lin…..

    • kauaiblue

      Hairstom morenpoints than jlin… smh

    • kauaiblue

      Will jlin be phased out?

    • sws94

Why are you asking this? Of course not.

    • kauaiblue

Well, we r veteran fans from years past…

    • Alain Gervais

      PTSD???

    • JoeTeam

I’m not so sure about what you post.

    • JoeTeam

KHuang, anybody out there watching the game … what adjustments did they make from first half? I’m not watching live action but will soon to watch JLin.

    • sws94

Yes, but Lin has to play better to play. It’s as simple as that. As I said earlier, if MJ doesn’t sense Lin has mental toughness, he’s like Kobe. He’ll think Lin doesn’t have that killer instinct to play to his abilities. It’s not Lin’s skills, it’s his approach and mentality that is hurting him.

    • Alain Gervais

      Yea he does

    • orLinaryjoe

      oh Al!

    • kauaiblue

      We all have it… lol

    • orLinaryjoe

      Oh Kemba

    • GoodDayLA

Jeremy Lin is playing himself out of the rotation soon.

    • JoeTeam

      he’s not even playing.

    • Wayne Li

If JLin keeps playing this way, his chance to resurrect his carrier will fade away soon enough. He needs constantly to remind himself that a bench player has much fewer opportunity to shine than starters.

    • sws94

You sound like Chicken Little. Really. It’s hard to take you seriously. He might. But it is too soon to say that now.

    • kauaiblue

Dont care about this team… just want jlin to get a real opportunity…

    • sws94

It’s Lin’s team, he’s about team and they like him. I support Lin on this team and the team. Even if Lin has a bad game, I want a victory for them today.

    • grover chang

If Lin isn’t a big factor for the win then fine. Just win this game.

    • GoodDayLA

I think this game is nearing do or die for Lin. I think he better break out before game 5 of the season or he’s in real trouble. Even though he is a known quantity with 6 years in the NBA, NBA people forget about all that overnight and treat him as an unknown.

    • GoodDayLA

OMG NIC BATUM IS PG ND LIN HIDES!

    • blubell

      33333333333

    • Dorothy

      3333333333333333333

    • orLinaryjoe

      Lin 3333333333!

    • joyce ward

Where are mods to ban the troll?

    • GoodDayLA

      BATUM IS MAGIC BATUM!

    • blubell

      lay up!

    • JoeTeam

      JLin starting his game now.

    • blubell

      Steal!

    • Riddick

Seriously man, u & buzzkill need to take ur posts to .net forum. Ur killing me w/the doom/gloom drama.

    • LAJane

      Never count our boy out!

    • stam

      why is batum playing PG?

    • redking79

Lin rushed that 3 at the top of the key. It’s nice to see the whole bench support him and get excited when he takes them though.

    • devin23

Batum playing point forward? interesting… I guess its cause hawks really pressuring the pg. Coach changing it up to be less predictable.

    • kauaiblue

      Batum pg?? What the??

    • blubell
    • zxcvb

See how much easier it is play with more than ONE ballhandler on the floor?

Lin and everyone else has SPACE. Can’t just load up on Lin.

    • devin23

If its going to allow lin and the rest of the team to be more efficient in this game and win, so be it.

    • blubell

He never gives up. We shouldn’t give up on him!

    • Riddick

He’s the anointed one now…3/5 of the team.

    • kauaiblue

      Which one?

    • JoeTeam

I just remember that ATL is one of the top teams in the league as far as record goes, and this is a good team showing hope we win. Lin is heating up and we’ll see. ATL doesn’t have it to win NBA, and why would we expect that from any Eastern team given they aren’t really tested like Western.

    • sws94

That’s our guy. Lin toughened up and asserted himself. I’m sure MJ likes what he seeing now. Lin has better support with Batum in there and surprise, Lamb is facilitating well today. Lin’s defense is solid on Shroeder.

    • grover chang

Looks like clifford threw the playbook out and said spread it out into four corners like MDA. Keep it more simple. They were stilted from thinking so much, Lin included. The only change I would’ve made was Lin on top, not Batum. So a little trust lost there.

    • stam

He rushed it but its better that he shoots rather than overthinking it

    • JoeTeam

more he doesn’t waste his energy or political capital when it doesn’t count. The game will go his way, the more so near the end because it’s about winning, not trying stuff out.

    • JoeTeam

lol. maybe the same person with 2 or 3 browsers chrome, safari, FF, IE.

    • BobbyH

A genius move by Clifford to let Batum handles the ball, relieving Lin and dissing ALT”s plan loading on PG, making the offensive unpredictable.

    • LAJane

Buzzkilll is actually a baby troll (I mean, just the name alone tells the adolescent story). GoodDay, on the other hand, is a fan – but you are a drama queen, man. Smooth it out a little. Don’t let that ulcer and hypertension bleed out all the joy. We’d miss you if you go down 🙂

    • GoodDayLA

How is that not a would for LAMB? He got mugged

    • GoodDayLA

      Hawes….

    • JoeTeam

JLin doing some nice things to force stops.

    • blubell
    • devin23

My god, please take hawes out.

    • stam

Wow these referees really hate lin.

    • GoodDayLA

he’s pretty bad. Frank would be better today

    • GoodDayLA

      Hawes is really bad. today.

    • Rzo Vlade

      hawes garbage

    • Riddick

      NBA refs in general!

    • LAJane

J has been so effective and fearless with taking those charges. Bad foul calls. Somebody wants to shut down that show 🙁

    • blubell

      Assist #4

    • orLinaryjoe

      crazy assist!

    • Rick Johnson

Seems like need to have 2 out of 3, Lin, Batum or Walker on the floor.

    • grover chang

      Hawes not doing well.

    • sws94

Lin’s shot is a little off today, but he’s playing much better. Needs to get tighter on Shroeder on defense.

    • Alain Gervais

Its crazy lin is playing most his minutes with the worst lineup. they have zero chemistry

    • sws94

      Weak link. Put in Hansbrough.

    • zxcvb

      Ball movement poor again w/o a 2nd ball-handler.

    • grover chang

Looks like Lin got a high release on his 3 point shot again.

    • Alain Gervais

Lamb tries to iso a lot

    • Sundown

NBA gave that last assist to Cody Zeller?

    • Rzo Vlade

yeah I have enough of hawes

    • CJSHYY

But check box score only 3AS?

    • TTNN

      yeah, was wondering that too

    • takemeback2reaganyears

At least Tyler would get double digit rebounds for the Hornets.

    • orLinaryjoe

They gave it to zellar? WTHeck

    • blubell

      Brief rest for Jeremy?

    • CJSHYY

      What? Lin is out?

    • Dorothy

      yep

    • CJSHYY

      I hope so…. smh!

    • GoodDayLA

As much as some people hate my harsh talk here, Clifford did what i said Lin needs. If Lin is going to be SG to get points, he needs a BIG 1 and Clifford brought in Nic to be a huge 1. Small guy on Lin and Lin gets free and floor is spaced.

They cannot use big wings on Lin when Lin is smallest man on floor.

    • blubell

hmmm… they need to fix that!

    • redking79

Brief rest for Lin. He tired himself out diving to save that ball in the corner, then running back on D.

    • yes.. perhaps back by 4-3 min left

    • GoodDayLA

i hope Lin comes back but Lamb is playing well enough where you can’t be too mad.

    • Rick Johnson

Gets a rest, usually comes back in to close.

    • BUZZCITY17

      Lin done for the night

    • sws94

I wish you were done for the night.

    • Dorothy

      2nd, actually done forever

    • JJ Hui

Hawke is wasted so many shots!

    • LAJane

two h-words – harsh vs. hysterical…and I’m not talking only about you 🙂

    • blubell

      He is.

    • Rzo Vlade

      hawes

    • sws94

Not sure why Hawes is in. Size?

    • Dorothy

      Thanks.

    • Rzo Vlade

      psycho t is better

    • LAJane

Don’t feed the baby buzz. Low-cal diet.

    • blubell

      Jeremy coming back 🙂

    • orLinaryjoe

      make it so

    • JLin is checking in… danger of losing lead

    • Bearness

There we go. Lin coming back in.

    • Bearness

Wasting too much time… Just call time out for Lin.

    • LAJane

The team FG% has got to be awful. All these missed open shots are making me crazy. Serenity now.

    • Rzo Vlade

      lamb pathetic

    • Love Lin

C’mon! Mr. clutch is back 2 save the game

    • noone is making shots for Hornets.
Cliffor has to send in JLin before he gets enough rest.. Hope he has enough gas

    • Briiick

OK, I will turn on the TV again.

    • sws94

He’s been one of the best players in this game.

    • zxcvb

Hope this game goes to OT. Not enough Lin…or scoring.

    • JoeTeam

      FIFY:

Danger of losing lead … JLin is checking in.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin is 1-4 from 3. Not like he shooting lights out too.

    • Rzo Vlade

      lol check FG

    • JJ Hui

I dont have a good feeling about Al, he doesnt get rebound, doesnt protect the rim much and just killing the movement!

    • he was better in playmaking.. huge 3 by Lamb off his assist to gain momentum

    • Alain Gervais

Lin will get 21 minutes today if he plays the rest of game

    • Rzo Vlade

lamb 4-11 missing easy buckets cannot finnish

    • JoeTeam

heh heh, really first time back with a game on the line … y’all still fun … and annoying jk. Go JLin!

    • GoodDayLA

Lin is a valuable hockey assist guy. Because this team has none. He fills that void.

    • Felt like Hornets didn’t look confident in shooting at all.
JLin can give confidence by getting to FT line here

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Why do we have to wait for the best back court to play at this late of the game?

    • orLinaryjoe

      some mo than others

    • Rick Johnson

Wong: 04:44Lamb Substitution replaced by Lin

    • zxcvb

      MJ, probably.

    • Rzo Vlade

      why jlin 3asst I thought 4

    • GoodDayLA

good question. Only the front office knows and we will never be told.

    • blubell

      That needs to be fixed.

    • sws94

Where is this coming from? Maybe it is Coach’s decision

    • blubell

      No foul? come on…

    • GoodDayLA

      there was NO foul

    • heart

Someone needs to send that assist pass from Lin to Lamb for 3 to NBAOfficial.com.

    • Rzo Vlade

another L waited too much time to put jlin

    • zxcvb

      Good drive by Lin…no whistle.

To be fair, both teams are not getting 50/50 contact at the rim.

    • Rzo Vlade

      well another loss

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Lin needs a floater…He didn’t have to drive all the way there…

    • blubell

      Good offensive reb.

    • JLin didn’t have it on 3pt line but good job to save possesion earning Kemba FTs

    • Rzo Vlade

wonder why he is not using it

    • Sundown

The 4th one was given to Zeller. (??)

    • sws94

Lin is good. He’s doing the little things. His shot isn’t falling tonight. He’ll get into a streak where it does. He’s fine in the 2nd half.

    • wandertheglobe

Smart adjustment by Clifford to have Batum bringing up the ball because the Hawks PG was pressuring and trapping Kemba/Lin

    • he wanted to draw fouls to get FTs but not enough contact

      Good idea but didn’t happen

    • zxcvb

Welp, Lin is shooting aggressively…shot just not falling tonight.

    • Alain Gervais

      Cant ask for more

    • sws94

Yes, +1 or get foul. Not getting the whistle tonight.

    • LAJane

      Nobody’s shots are falling well.

    • Rzo Vlade

      doc schepler needs to go

    • Bearness

His minutes are so low though. =/

    • sws94

Exactly, he’s got the right approach. Shots aren’t falling for a lot of the team in the 4th unfortunately.

    • Alain Gervais

Its crazy how bad the whole team is shooting .Really shows we are shooting contested shots

    • Rzo Vlade

      lin out

    • LAJane

or the 2nd, or the 3rd.

    • blubell

Yes, LIn is out on the floor.

    • zxcvb

      No he’s not.

    • Big shot 3 by Walker.. good job

    • LAJane

League pass is quite a bit delayed from actual 🙁

    • Michael

      lol

    • Another good drive by Walker to draw a foul from Millsap
Hope JLin will follow suit soon

    • Love Lin

      10-15 sec delayed.. 🙁

    • Rzo Vlade

      dagger

    • Rzo Vlade

      yesss

    • blubell

      Hornets lead!

    • 89-89 MWilliams made a huge 3

    • GoodDayLA

Bemba Walker has been what we hoped Lin would be today. In Lin’s defense, he’s a PG playing undersized backup SG which is ridiculous.

Lin does not deserve to start at PG. And at starting or backup SG, he will not do well.

Bazemore got that shot because Lin is way too small and causing offensive rebounds. It is so dang obvious.

    • Rzo Vlade

      lol

    • LAJane

Bazemore has been doing a good job.

    • huge 3s

    • blubell

we need a clutch 3… OT?

    • GoodDayLA

      that’s Lin’s guy 🙁

    • Rzo Vlade

      no hes not

    • sws94

He’s had a strong game, yes.

    • Love Lin

      Gotta get the 1st win..

    • probably a quick 2 & 1 good defense

    • GoodDayLA

um what game are you watching?

    • Rzo Vlade

      another loss

    • Batum missed an easy layup.. too strong

    • Rick Johnson

I don’t think they have Lin playing SF yet.

    • blubell

      Where is the offense?

    • Rzo Vlade

      lol

    • Briiick

No Lin no win, told you.

    • Bearness

Batum is trying to do way too much on this team. He is better as a support role.

    • Rick Johnson

I don’t think they have Lin playing SF yet

    • GoodDayLA

Lin is guarding bazemore and vice versa

    • Alain Gervais

      Lins been nothing the quarter

    • JoeTeam

The bigs inside really got beaten on rebs and 2nd efforts. Too many times …

    • GoodDayLA

      are you watching the game??!

Look who is guarding Lin and look who Lin guards

      KENTBAZMORE

    • sws94

He’s the corner guy. He’s made good plays but he hasn’t really had many touches in the last few minutes.

    • GoodDayLA

BECAUSE LIN IS PLAYING UNDERSIZED SG. They give up way too much size and Kemba is already a midget.

    • blubell

      Wow… Williams 3

    • redking79

Hornets have terrible bigs. Al Jefferson is their best big, he’s only 30 but has a lot of miles.

    • JoeTeam

It is not Lin. ATL had too many successful 2nd efforts.

    • Bearness

Yep. He’s been just standing in the corner while Kemba and Batum try to create.

    • JLin good inbound to Marvin Williams.. for a big 3pt BANK shot!!

    • Rzo Vlade

welp I am not seeing any other offense from him……….wheres the floater wheres the stepback Jumpshot

    • blubell

      Should be assist #5.

    • GoodDayLA

      nonono It’s not Lin’s fault

But the team has a size mismatch. I am not blaming Lin!

It just doesn’t work. Small ball fails.

Golden State plays small ball but only at the 4! Their 2 and 3 are HUGE!

    • LAJane

Thank you Marvin. Jeremy was patient on that inbound. (Is there a time limit for inbounding?)

    • sws94

Lucky shot but great patience by Lin on the inbound pass.

    • blubell

      jump ball!

    • redking79

That’s not the only reason. Suns have a short backcourt but they beat the Blazers at home last night. Hornets bigs need to step up their game, or Pyscho-T needs to play.

    • forestorteal

      So negative

    • GoodDayLA

      maybe pyscho

    • Rzo Vlade

wheres the floater wheres the stepback Jumpshot

    • Sophie Paris

      Hornets always loose short… seriously

    • Rzo Vlade

      lol

    • blubell

      Jeremy looks really disappointed 🙁

    • I am The Jason

After an 0-3 start, Clifford needs to reevaluate how he is running this team.

    • Wayne Li

This is predicted to happen for JLin: if you try hard to be someone you are not made for, you will fail for sure. Once your mind is not set to score, you will have hesitations thus you will have bad shootings.

If JLin does not start to play soon, he will be a non factor for Hornets soon enough.

    • Riddick

Look at who’s taking those last shots?

    • occupatio

lin has been camping in corner and mostly content to stay there

    • GoodDayLA

if I was coaching this team, I could fix it over night.

    • Rzo Vlade

you need to have a variety of offense ,,,,,wheres the floater wheres the stepback Jumpshot

    • Riddick

` Ok Cliff, how many more L before you make some changes? smh

    • zxcvb

      Looks p*ssed off to me.

    • JoeTeam

      Don’t agree that’s his choice.

    • Alain Gervais

PJ played more then Lin. Lin completely out of rhythm today. Bench unit putting a funk on his game. Nothing will change until that is fixed

    • Bearness

Camping yes. Content, I don’t think so. Kemba and Batum are hogging the ball. So, what can he do?

    • zxcvb

Another loss on the lineups — Lin/Kemba/Batum need to play together.

Otherwise, the starters are predictable and the 2nd unit is too (just swarm Lin).

    • Sunny Sullenberger

      Right so

    • Riddick

Doesn’t look like the coach gets it…yet.

    • KHuang

      Bad game by Lin.

It’s been a LONG TIME since he had one.

Now, it’s time for Lin to EXERT HIS WILL on the team.

$2 million or whatever, Lin’s gotta start screaming at players and demanding that they cut and defend and run motion.

Also, this weak lineup fielded by Clifford is killing the team. Lin was one of the weak players today, but he was not the only one.

    • JoeTeam

The sure ignored wide open Lin most of last 2 mins.

    • occupatio

when the ball swings back to his side, he doesnt come to meet it. instead, camping.

    • Sundown

The coach?! You are trying to pin Lin’s poor play on the coach?

    • Rick Johnson

They need to play 2 out of those three at all times. Best stretch for bench was when Batum with Lin.

    • GoodDayLA

I am amazed you posted the truth.

    • blubell

Jeremy would like to take the big shots too…

    • zxcvb

Maybe this 0-3 start will change some minds in the front office.

    • JoeTeam

I dont’ agree. He made a big diff on D, and last 3 mins when he’s at best, he was open but they never switched sides.

      Adjustments…

    • sws94

Joyce, what do you think? I think some teams are a tough match-up for others and Lin. Unfortunately, the Hornets played two that are. But, I see small signs of progress and I think Lin, even without the clutch shots of Friday’s game, did some good things in the 2nd half.

    • KHuang

He can still CUT LIKE CRAZY and impose his will no matter what.

Even if it is a small patch of the court, Lin can get physical and battle and make his opponent fight him for every inch.

    • Rzo Vlade

he doesnt have a variety of offense the floater wheres the stepback Jumpshot

    • DaVinci633

Lin is not playing well with lamb on the floor. I don’t think they play well together. It’s insane how many shots lamb put up in the few minutes he has. I think this effects the ball rotation for second unit.

    • JoeTeam

I am not sure about what you post.

    • LAJane

      He always posts truth.

    • Sundown

Last game wasn’t that great either, but this one sets a new low.

    • zxcvb

Lin usually tears up the Hawks. Even last year. This year, he even did well against the Heat despite no help.

    • KHuang

      FLAGGED.

    • devin23

Lol.. I have to agree on that one.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin did not touch the ball in crunch time except that inbound. He’s lost because trying to fit in. He needs to play aggressive and no more Mr. nice guy.

    • KHuang

      FLAGGED

    • Vintage

      Everyone has bad games

    • Riddick

Where did I even say Lin had an excellent game? Read before jumping all over my post…please.

    • Sophie Paris

They need to change their lineups asap. First half is always bad

    • Alain Gervais

I don’t think its effort. They all look uncomfortable. The only time they didn’t was when Batum was there. Until something changes with that bench i think this season will turn to a mess pretty quickly

    • The good thing is JLin can still be good playmaker despite bad shooting. He didn’t have the legs in the 4th to make strong drives & get FTs because he only rested 3-4 min.
The bad thing is all Hornets hesitated to shoot in the 4th quarter .. HAwes, Batum

Only Kemba & MWilliams shot well in the 4th

The starting lineup need to change soon

    • zxcvb

Well, tonight he was aggressive in the 2nd half but he didn’t have his shooting touch.

    • GoodDayLA

      for what?

    • kauaiblue

Is this what his role is now? Houston again?

    • GoodDayLA

      ok….

    • Rzo Vlade

no…..he doesnt have a variety of offense ……cannot seems to understand that a floater is hard to do

    • BobbyH

It is not up to him. He rarely get the ball. His role is used as decoy.

    • webattorney

I think from this game on, Lin will get 20 to 25 minutes per game.

    • JoeTeam

He wasn’t weak, he was 2-9 but played v well defensively to create a lot of stops that kept the game close, but not enough to make a bid Diff.

One other big thing that hurt this team was all the missed 2nd changes at the rim, because the bigs were not using their bodies well. That differential made a difference.

    • devin23

Its looking like it. Maybe abit more usage, but that’s about it. He does seem to be closing games at least.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

It’s him now or be like Lakers time.

    • GoodDayLA

this is worse than Houston 2.0! In Houston 2.0 they stifled him where he naturally was doing real good.

Here? He can’t get a thing going since he is the only real threat.

In the starting lineup there are other real players so he can’t be focused on

    • zxcvb

He did play very well on defense which is why he was allowed to close.

Bad lineups reduced him to a jump shooter on offense and he didn’t have his shot.

    • JoeTeam

They messed up his usage today. Yes he was cold, but you mess things up, it gets messy.

    • JoeTeam

Yes I agree, and saw he made a difference to keep them in the game to the last shot.

    • zxcvb

      Let’s not overreact.

    • Alain Gervais

Lin played most go his minutes with the bench. Played maybe 5 minutes with Kemba ?Which is odd given thats the best unit. To say Lin should play well in a dysfunctional offense is not reasonable. For the few minutes Lin played in a good offensive scheme he score. for the last 5 minutes how was standing in the corner.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

So far we’ve seen, I agree with you. Their bigs are useless and Jefferson is like Jordan Hill.

    • webattorney

Not over-reacting. With Lamb back, Lin’s PT is going to be reduced. Lin played slightly over 21 minutes today. What I am saying is I think today’s PT is going to be his normal PT per game.

    • JoeTeam

You do have a point he could have been cutting but I didn’t see much room inside so he has to get those open look catch n shoots and they ignored him.

    • GoodDayLA

he’ll allow himself to lose5-6 games before an adjustment is made.

    • JoeTeam

      Agree with both recommendations.

    • zxcvb

All this could have been avoided by starting Lin at SG. They’d be 3-0 instead of losing every single game in the closing minutes of the 4Q. Three straight games with the same ending (just coming up short).

    • sws94

I don’t think so. I think he’ll play better soon and get 27 plus minutes. He’s yet to have a big scoring game.

    • KHuang

      No, that’s WHAT YOU WANT.

If opponents load up on Lin and leave Lamb unguarded, then it’s on Lamb to ATTACK.

So far Lamb’s produced pretty well with Lin on the court.

      MORE Lin and Lamb.

    • sws94

Lamb isn’t as good as he looked today.

    • Joe what do you know

      5 sec

    • grover chang

2-9 fg 1-6 from 3 pt try. I can’t say Lin didn’t try. I saw him working hard on defense and going for 50/50 balls but just was not enough. Better team won. I thought the effort was good but something is missing. What is it?

    • Rzo Vlade

      lol lamb cannot even finnish

    • webattorney

I understand. I am just saying this is going to be the “average” rotation. Batum is going to be the PG when Kemba is out. Unless Lin tries to create and get off some shots on his own, I don’t see how he can score that much against above average teams.

    • GoodDayLA

they do look uncomfortable. people fighting for roles and spots on the team. It’s all very confusing. Who is the man? Nic, Kemba, or Al?

Lin could come in and steal the throne but he is not that guy. Too modest for it.

    • sws94

He could use a floater but he has shown more moves in preseason. For some reason he’s not showing them yet in the regular season except a bit in the Miami game.

    • blubell
    • JoeTeam

Yep, ATL is pretty good. Esp Eastern to Eastern.

    • Acbc

      Chemistry

    • LAJane

That’s what kids say when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar. KHuang is about the last person you should hint might be a liar. I notice you do upvote when someone rightly pushes back, but why go so overboard in the first place. Learn, child, learn.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin is still afraid of make mistake.

    • grover chang

What was Lamb 4-11? He wasn’t exactly on fire.

    • KHuang

Sorry, last game was JUST FINE to me.

This is the first BAD game Lin’s had since becoming a Hornet.

    • Promo Sports World

Shots ain’t falling pretty much it

    • OpenTruth

Do you just look up random stats and then just pick the one favorable to Lin? In the other 3 phoenix games, eric outscored Lin 16-6, 22-19, and 17-10. But, I guess in your eyes, Lin pummeled Bledsoe.

    • CJSHYY

I am not happy why Lin’s playing time cut short today? Since I didn’t watch the full game… did Lin play bad besides shooting not fall?

    • KHuang

None of the moves you propose would work against those crushing physical doubleteams.

Also, Lin’s fighting the 80s iso offense with the starters where he’s being used strictly as a standstill decoy. That prevents Lin from handling the ball and getting into rhythm.

    • webattorney

With Lamb back, I just don’t see how he’s going to get 27 minutes.

    • GoodDayLA

Zeller and Hawes neither are good enough. Now after 3 games with Lin, I can see it.

I would like to see Tyler and Frank now. I hope coach sees the obvious.

Tyler and Frank can do damage.

    • blubell

Clifford: disorganization. Only one guy knows what to do and the rest don’t.

    • KHuang

For being “amazed” that I dare post the truth.

You come at me, I come at you.

But you’ll find out that I HIT HARDER.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin must start the very next game, period.

    • Michael

Chemistry +1, most new teams take half a season before you can really see how they really are. Maybe the preseason made us think they could skip the process.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin is not playing starting PG with a big 2 man. And his bigs he is stuck with are not good enough.

    • grover chang

He was brought in to be a playmaker. I didn’t see him doing that, not like he has in the past. We’ve seen him look great as the playmaker before but he can’t seem to break down Miami and Atlanta’s defense.

    • KHuang

      FLAGGED.

      Explain yourself.

    • KHuang

That’s EXACTLY what GoodDayLA is calling me:

      A TROLL.

    • blubell
    • blubell
    • JoeTeam

hey that’s what I said y’all all down on Lin. He did this.

    • Spot

Another L. Good. Clifford is same as other Lin coaches D’Antoni apart.

      Clifford only cares about defence.

His offensive playbook is just not good.

One day I’d like to see Jeremy play free without the fear of missing shots.

Clifford is not that coach with Batum PG and Lin on the corner.

No FO. Only time FO told Clifford a thing is when they told him to start Jeremy in China against Clippers.

    • grover chang

true, his bigs don’t set good screens or seem to roll very much.

    • LAJane

Nah. He just goes overboard with the drama. Our ADD family member.

    • CJSHYY

Something wrong? I know he didn’t do well w 2nd unit… worry me now bc his playing time just like a bench player besides close game. But if he doesn’t have good shooting day then he will not close for sure in the future. Looks like the talk didn’t go well?! Damn it.

    • blubell
    • wandertheglobe

Cliff is talking about someone who was not in position at the beginning of the 4th Quarter. Who’s he talking about?

    • Michael

      How about a little bit.

    • Sophie Paris

Hornets are the best always when Lin plays with the starters.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lineup, rotation, timing were ball bad.

    • Spot

Oh, what a coincidence… Probably because you don’t have a decent offensive playbook

    • GoodDayLA

I disagree with basically your assessment of what is going on. But I hope Lin can start as an undersized 2 since that is what you wish for. Or are you wishing for Lamb and Zeller to start?

    • KHuang

      Main thing missing:

Steve Clifford has almost every guy playing out of position.

    • KHuang

There are two who can roll and score, but they SIT.

    • blubell
    • Promo Sports World

21 minutes and gets up 9 shots….he tried his best…won’t be long until lamb starts over PJ….don’t see Jeremy starting unless kemba gets hurt….Jeremy has to play “very” well to get minutes and that is the life of a bench player folks…goes with the role and territory….can’t get too down, just need him to put together strong games so case for more minutes can be made.

Regardless of what we think Jeremy played on a horrible lakers team and was a bench player with the Rockets. That track record however unfortunate travels with you. So Clifford and the Hornets will give him minutes based off of what has been his track record and game performance of late.

Just play well and change it Jeremy

    • CJSHYY

      Who’s fault? Al or Zeller?

    • KHuang

Because Lin couldn’t kick his teammates hard enough for them to start executing.

    • Spot

The only reason they were in the game is cause Atlanta couldn’t hit a tree even in a pool.

    • wandertheglobe

Cliff: I don’t think we’ll be able to finish with these same 5 every night.

    • Rzo Vlade

      0-4

      bulls will rip this team

    • takemeback2reaganyears

“…don’t see Jeremy starting unless kemba gets hurt….”

      0-4 and counting.

    • Spot

Right. He only cares about defence. Bad coach

    • CJSHYY

Forget about starting… I don’t think that will happen. Just hope he can have good season w Hornets but after watched today’s game… worry….

    • KHuang

      CLIFFORD’S fault.

His big men are OUT OF SHAPE, and that’s why they DIE in the 4th.

If Hansbrough was playing, NO OFFENSIVE BOARDS for Atlanta.

    • wandertheglobe

0-4 :). Cliff wants to give the team 7-8 games before he’ll do something,

    • Spot

      Hopefully.

    • grover chang

That makes a lot of sense. That also seems to be a big criticism from old hornet fans. That is fundamental basketball 101, guys should play their position to set the right rotation, roles, and rhythm. No wonder they seem disorganized to Clifford. He already disorganized them before they get on the court.

    • GoodDayLA

my apologies. I mean I know you see it for what things are. I didn’t think Lin played poorly enough for you to say he played bad. Because to me he played poorly again. I thought you’d be more defiant like JoeTeam who thinks Lin played well and just missed a few shots.

I will edit my response above but the flag is fair. I hope Lin wakes up.

    • Acbc

Go away you troll. Why do you follow Lin if you hate him and his team so much!

    • Spot

      FO will do something. Hopefully.

      D’Antoni is free.

    • sport

how about starting these 5 every night then?

    • OpenTruth

      lol.

    • Whitman Lam

Atlanta was knocking down jumpshots everywhere in the 1st and at the end of the 4th quarter.

    • grover chang

Okay hansbrough, who is number 2.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

When I saw Lin run standing in the corner, it brought back bad memory.

    • Spot

He’s not good. He’s just another Jeremy Lin doubter

    • KHuang

If Lin’s solid winning record with Houston travels with him and his #1 bench ranking from LA travels too with him, that would mean that Lin would get paid far more than $2 million!

    • joyce ward

I think the second unit doesn’t have enough play makers. It’ s a unit with semi-rookies with not enough experience. Clifford wants Lin to turn water into wine, which will probably work in some weaker units but not with real good defensive units. Also, I think sometimes lin moving from point to sg is exhausting. He is the only one that is put in that position where he hasn’t figured out the tendencies of each player on each unit. So hasn’t meshed well with anybody yet. Lin has mathematical mindset. He deals in formulas(rythm) for it to make sense to him, but once he figures it out, it’s a win for him. Also they are not asking batum to do,what they are asking lin to do. Also this the eastern conference and lin only played these teams twice a year, so he has some adjustments to make.

    • GoodDayLA

not attacking you but you said Clifford has modern offense? Now back to 80s’ iso?

    • Spot

Exactly. I’m upset as you all here.

    • KHuang

Yes – but they don’t have the athletes to load up on Lin like Atlanta does.

    • Rzo Vlade

well jlin havent give them the thing they want

    • OpenTruth

what?! 80’s offense? what are you talking about?

    • Whitman Lam

      Kaminsky ?

    • GoodDayLA

      a very sensible post

    • KHuang

At $2 million a year, today’s “bad” performance is STILL A BARGAIN.

Lin played excellent except for shooting.

      Even the assists were there.

    • GoodDayLA

      LOL

    • adele

      True.

    • Dorothy

Batum had 7 TO last game, but the coach trusted him to paly PG this game. I hope it was because KHuang said to make it unpredictable to free Lin. Otherwise,….

    • Rzo Vlade

yeah people will not look at that……………………from the eye test jlin offense is one dimensional

    • GoodDayLA

Best post of day by Spot:

      D’Antoni is free.

      LOL.

    • KHuang

      Not even.

If Clifford REALLY cared about defense, Hairston wouldn’t play and neither would zeller or Hawes.

Clifford is an EYE TEST coach it seems. Hairston and Zeller and Hawes LOOK LIKE they can play, so they play.

    • KHuang

      Yes

    • OpenTruth

Are you sure? Which guy is playing out of position?

    • Promo Sports World

Agreed to a degree but you and I know the narrative on the kid is what created that low ball salary not the talent not performance

    • Rzo Vlade

I dont see any post game interview of jlin today and the rest of other game why????

    • Acbc

Man, I’m glad I golf today instead. I’ll come back later when the trolls and haters go away.

    • KHuang

      But at least he ATTACKS.

Nobody else other than Kaminsky even does that.

    • CJSHYY

Bc he was shooting well & made no big mistake…

    • sws94

This bench will change. It has to.

    • Rzo Vlade

sorry from the eye test his offense is 1 dimensional

    • wandertheglobe

Clifford: He doesn’t think it makes any sense to start Lin. Kemba, Batum, Lin and Jefferson all need the ball to be effective. He wants a balance team.

that does not make him a PG, even SG is a push, now he is playing PG???

    • MEL LIN

      agree totally

    • KHuang

      Alfense.

Bench tries to run Clifford’s offense, but the bigs are too bad.

    • CJSHYY

      He said that today?

    • GoodDayLA

      i approve this message

    • Spot

      Thanks. Hater and loser.

We will see who will have the final laugh

    • JoeTeam

heh heh, then he’d better start coaching Lin to hold the ball and not move it around the perimeter because JLamb, Hawes, and Kam are not gonna get it back to him to initiate team plays.

    • KHuang

      Accepted.

But do not try that crap with me again.

I’ll beat you like I beat Opentruth if you do.

    • wandertheglobe

Yep, just now on the post game interview. Reporter asked about starting Lin.

    • sws94

Below par 1st half. Good 2nd half. He did a lot of little things that he didn’t do in the first half and made much better decisions. I think Lin should move more offball but it seemed he was the stationary part of the offense. He had some open 3s, but his 3 ball wasn’t there tonight.

    • blubell

just now at the post game interview.

    • TTNN

that’s for Lamb, (I mean the question was asking for Lamb to start), but he said the same, he is not going to start Lin/Lamb and he want them to play with betch. And he likes PJ.

    • adele

The play is not centered on Lin. It was centered on Kemba and Batum. They are the stars. That’s why at the start of the season, Clifford said they don’t need anymore stars. They already have 3stars. Kemba, Batum and Al. This is Kemba’s team. Every play will start and ends with him unless he is hurt. His role is the same as lbj, steph curry, carmelo. He is free to take shots anytime he wants coz he is the star.

    • CJSHYY

He played Lin like bench today so don’t think that will happen in the future. Just hope Lin can get more playing time in the future.. so far… doubt.

    • OpenTruth

I just can’t believe the nonsense you’re writing. You just said the Hornets are playing with 80’s offense? what?! what are you talking about?

    • Love Lin

      Yup! a few min ago..

    • blubell

He was very high on PJ.

    • joyce ward

Lamb doesn’t play defense. This a defensive minded coach. Also lin made a lot of key stops. Not worried. Lin will find his niche.

    • GoodDayLA

      got it.

    • JoeTeam

The planet Mercury was thought to be a star lol.

    • TTNN

he is high on Hawes too, which scares me.

    • GoodDayLA

      fair enough

    • CJSHYY

WHat? Hawes? That’s not good. smh!

    • Alain Gervais

From what he said these lineups will stay as is. He said disorganization is hurting them. The guys will have to study and fix that issue. In the preseason Lin would get to “his” spots and shoot. Thats what all good players do. So far this season he has played a lot of iso. Im still optimistic but its worrisome. coach thinks they can fix the issue. What is a JLin season without controversy

    • KHuang

There is NO SUCH THING as a player who doesn’t need the ball to be effective.

    • Rick Johnson

Really? Missed that part. What about him is he high on?

    • Spot

When Batum had ball in Portland ?

    • Michael

      Subconscious pecking order…

    • sws94

I think he did OK in the 2nd half. If a lot of his shots fell he would have got them a win. But that’s true of any player that got good looks. He also didn’t get a friendly whistle tonight.

    • KHuang

      But don’t start Hairston!!!

      Start Lamb or Kaminsky then.

Don’t waste time with Hairston who would struggle even in the D League!

    • CJSHYY

He said that about Lin? So far this season he has played a lot of iso.

    • TTNN

those guys who can not dribble?

    • Rzo Vlade

you have to have a variety of offense…….cannot see the step back…..floater and sidestep jumpshoot

    • KHuang

No, never let trolls and haters drive Lin fans away.

    • grover chang

I don’t like Jefferson at the 5, but you need a good 5 even for small ball. I can’t think of who that could be. I feel there is only one true pg: Lin. One true sg: Lamb and a bunch of forwards. But who is a real center. Either Zeller and Hawes are getting bad advice or aren’t centers either.

    • Spot

In his eye test Hairston is a good defender.

      That’s it.

    • OpenTruth

LAJane, Khuang lies all the time. I’m being dead serious. He fabricates stuff out of thin air but most casual fans don’t ever check his facts. The more knowledgeable fans are starting to realize this.

    • blubell
    • TTNN

      in his eyes PJ fits.

    • GoodDayLA

5 for small ball? Fetus Ezili and Bogut are good but not high usage scorers.

    • KHuang

      It wasn’t.

With Jefferson posting up low and refusing to ever pass, basically all the Hornets are doing is rushing up court and trying to squeeze off a shot before the OFFENSE gets set.

    • Spot

Only game he can win is against Dallas

    • CJSHYY

Coach asked him that’s why…like it or not…

    • Michael

      They are playing basketball.

    • GoodDayLA

that’s what happens as a coach when you are afraid to define roles and starting lineup and bench lineup in preseason and hide behind a 7-1 record and shuffle lineups every game.

      Team came into season uncertain.

    • CJSHYY

      Not really….

When you see Hawes bringing the ball up the court, something is definitely wrong somewhere. Kaminsky need Hawes minutes ASAP. Also Lin, Batum, Walker need to play more together.

    • sws94

Right, there is not enough there. And Hawes? He looks way out of control out there. Lin without a good big man really hurts what he can do. There is no great coupling which is why I’m surprised Clifford says the 2nd unit clicks so well. He could use another playmaker, which is what Lamb did fairly effectively but he’s not really a playmaker. And maybe they need to run and gun more. The idea was it as the run and gun unit. It’s been anything but. Lin scored a great drive when the one time he got the ball and just went for it. That’s really a strength not being exploited. Lin is adjusting to the personnel he has, being counted on as a PG, and he may not quite be in regular season form yet offensively.

    • grover chang

He drove a couple times and took a step back fadeaway. Missed them. One open three and one fast break layup were his two scores. The rest were 3 point shots. Not a great shooting day for Lin.

It’s not about Jeremy or Kemba or Batum. It’s about coach who doesn’t have a good offensive playbook.

I’m with KHuang when he says OK Jeremy sixth man but play Lamb as SG and Batum SF.

    • sws94

I don’t think that was the plan. I think he was there for defense, catch and shoot, decoy, and if in the right position, drive in and try to draw fouls.

    • Rzo Vlade

well then I am right during the signing hornets are thrash……its better sign with contender than thrash team

    • Spot

      Agree.

After preseason Charlotte FO think to have a good team. Clifford has an expiring contract.

    • CJSHYY

To be honest, after watched some of today’s game, I am really worry for Lin in Hornets now bc first his playing time cut short just like a bench player. That’s a very bad sign for him. smh! Don’t know what’s wrong… just hope he can play well this season.

    • joyce ward

Look lin needs to adapt a shooters mindset because that’s all this coach wants him to do and play good defense and let the other stuff come on it’s own.

    • OpenTruth

If this is the case, why isn’t khuang banned? he’s constantly belittling and degrading others. he’s flags everyone who disagrees with him. is this not HYPOCRISY?

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

Whats frustrating is theres so much potential and its not being met. Lin took a lot less and bet on him self. Hopefully it works out

    • Sophie Paris

Hawes has been terrible all night… he missed easy shots, made dumb fouls, lost the ball…. Coach let him play too long smh

    • TTNN

what I’m really worried is that the coach somehow stick him with Lamb/Hawes/Zellers, that’s a line up actually not really worked very well.

    • Rzo Vlade

and fire that doc schepler guy

    • sws94

I’ll take that. Any postgame comments from Coach. The game was close. I liked the effort better and fight in the 2nd half. They responded to CC and that’s encouraging to see.

    • dolphin2k2

Look at the stats, the games were lost in the first 3 qtr. The 4th qtr is where the CHA runs happen

    • blubell

I must’ve missed that part. I thought he seems to like Hawes only when he is playing with particular unit.

    • sws94

He finished the game and Lamb and Kemba had more impact. Don’t panic.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! That’s another problem & also show Lin is a bench only now. I am worry if he doesn’t play like preseason game soon he will not close the game no matter what coach promised him in the summer… there is no guarnatee now.

    • blubell

      why?

    • OpenTruth

I did not post any hate posts. I just exposed the truth and cut and pasted your posts. You shouldn’t hide behind your own posts.

    • Sundown

That’s the bar for Lin now? “Is he worth near-minimum for a vet?”

I agree he has been giving the team its money’s worth, but that’s a far cry from all this “Lin should start” talk.

    • blubell
    • CJSHYY

I am bc his performance on court is replaceable by anyone Like Lamb.

    • Sophie Paris

Exactly the 2nd unit doesn’t work. First half lineups are unbalanced.

    • Rzo Vlade

the shooting he input is not good…I see so much flaw on jlin shooting two leg 3pt shooting is tiring the one feet forward is the 3pt shooting that dont waste energy

    • CJSHYY

      Good.

    • Alain Gervais

We’ve barley seen lin play his style these last 2 games. The bench is playing all haif court disorganized basketball. This needs to be fixed quickly

    • CJSHYY

      Hairstone is not the problem….

    • CJSHYY

That’s not good also bad for Lin bc Roberts maybe coming soon… smh! After today, I am worry….

    • FSW

Somehow it looks like the second team guys have decided they no longer trust Lin to lead and they are playing bad ball as a result
This is a coaching issue and I am starting to doubt whether cliff can pull this team together
Hope I am wrong or we will be looking at a long season of eyesore basketball
Also to much flux in roles – manufacturing a false star first in Kemba now batum at the cost of team chemistry – coaching/front office fail

    • Spot

Old school coach. Not good for today basketball which is all about sprint, good offence and 3 points.

    • sws94

I think it is way too soon to say that and maybe take a breath. The fact is, Lin finishes games. He is trusted to finish games so Coach thinks he is one of the top players on the team.

    • TTNN

somehow this team don’t run, and again whatever they did in preseason, they are not really stick with it since the regular season start, that will for sure throw Lin off.

I don’t know, somehow feel something is not right with Lin, but don’t really know what is it. Have to wait….

    • CJSHYY

I am worry too. I think there are some issue between Lin & coach. Season just starts…. smh! Not good….

    • sws94

He plays like this when his shots don’t fall. But, he’s out of sync. Have to see him play more against different competition that has last trapping defenses.

    • Dorothy

Coach also said today that the same 5 will not close the game. I am wondering if he meant Lin will not close from now on,

    • takemeback2reaganyears

The outcome of a game can be determined by one or two shots away and also one or two rebounds away.

“(At the end of the 4th) we gave up two huge offensive rebound baskets.” -Coach Cliff

Why the %$#^ your best rebounder still has his behind glued on the bench? Free Tyler and bench Hawk now. Hawk is useless for his height. He does not fight for position. He can’t even reach out to a pass. His react is slow and his shooting is overrated. Tyler constantly give guard screen and aggressively fight for the ball. He irritate his opponent just being in their face. His potential is a white Dennis Rodman.

If they want to win now, start Lin and Tyler replacing PJ Hairston and Zeller. Zeller will backup Jefferson.

    • Rzo Vlade

Now you know its better to be a back up in a contending team than a thrash team

    • CJSHYY

That’s the issue bc they don’t play his game as he wants & that’s why he came here for … Coach starts to treat Lin like bench now… smh!

    • sws94

      Or Jefferson?

    • CJSHYY

But he didn’t do anything in the end so…if next game Lamb plays well maybe no Lin anymore…

    • CJSHYY

Really he said so… today? OMG, Lin…

    • sws94

He made excellent inbound passes and hustled on D. We should wait and see what will happen in the next few games. Lin didn’t play great today, Coach is trying to win. But he still put Lin in there at the end of the game.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Going to bed with your team loss would be even worse. Now I can watch the NFL and the Lakers getting blown away.

    • Spot

Mike D’Antoni says @Stephen Curry & Steve Nash could have “easily played together & transitioned into a new era”

That’s why I say bring Mike D’Antoni in and this team will shine with Double PG.

    • CJSHYY

They want someone can produce on court not just running around… smh!

    • sws94

They’ve played 3 games. Coach sees him in practice and saw what he did preseason. The best thing for Lin to do now is get back to preseason form with the tougher defenses. He’s also rusty at PG and that’s why I’ve been saying, he’s better NOT starting and getting time back at PG. But he has a bad unit.

    • Spot

Season’s just started. Have faith. Charlotte don’t want to tank again.

It’s Clifford who is risking his job

    • grover chang

Feeling down after this game and have been hard on Lin. No one harder on Lin then himself. Hope he turns it around. He has been given the time and the trust. Hard to make excuses for him. Starting with Miami and Atlanta twice was not a great way to build momentum. Those defenses were good.

    • Alain Gervais

Its pointless to talk about dreams. Lin has to make the best of this situation.

    • PPP

Its only 3 games but Im not sure Clifford really knows how to use Lin as Lin mentioned. Im ok Lin starts from the bench but the offensive schemes are really not fitting LIN’s style. In this game, lin was basically a decoy in the last 5 minuetes. SMH.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

This offense suck, Lin walks across mid court just like BS’s system.

    • sws94

And he didn’t knock down big 3s 2 nights ago. Take a breath. It’s not all based on one game.

    • CJSHYY

Who should get that 2 offensive rebound ?

    • Rzo Vlade

just a floater in the freethrow line make a difference…….why he cant use it…..the 1 hander shot from the freethrow line is that hard

    • Spot

No players can do things all alone.

If a coach put LBJ as spot up shooter people would say he’s scrub.

    • blubell
    • Spot

Cause Clifford is an old school coach like McHale and Scott.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Don’t know about that play but if they had their best rebounder playing it wouldn’t have to come to that point.

    • spiderman

Didn’t watch game, but the double standard never stops to amaze me:

ANYONE – including so called “superstars” and max-contract players and all-stars – can have a bad shooting day, and no one blinks an eye.

Clearly a different standard for Lin

    • CJSHYY

Oh! Just want to know who should take care that…coach needs someone to take the blame for the lose..?

    • CJSHYY

      Too late… smh!

    • grover chang

Gotta agree with Dominique Wilkens on this one. Bad shot selection by the Hornets, including Lin. Hawks gave them the lowest effective shot, midrange, and Hornets did not take it. Pull ups were only 17% of Hornets shots this year. 40% at rim and 30% of shots at 3 point line. Both rim and 3 point line well defended.

    • CJSHYY

I think for some reasons, they don’t play his game like preseason anymore… what they need from him just get more pts to win the game.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

He’s better than BS, won’t name name.

    • blubell
    • sws94

He had some good looks and took the shots, unlike Friday. They didn’t fall but NBA coaches know that some nights players jump shots aren’t falling.

    • blubell
    • blubell
    • heart

Yea. The bigs don’t come to shield him for a pass past court to accelerate the offense. Cliff wants it to speed up, but he does have the scheme in place for them to do so. The flow is too slow. I don’t see read or react motion. The few times that they did it, they got easy baskets.

    • sws94

I don’t know about that. Why does the first unit look so much better? Something is off in the 2nd unit and may not be on the coach. It looks like the guys aren’t executing it on the 2nd unit. And Hawes is playing stupid basketball so far, he has to get better.

    • Alain Gervais

Bad shooting days are ok as long as other days when your shot is on you go for 30. Idk if this offense is capable of shooting 100 points so far.

    • sws94

Lin is a combo guard that creates well in certain circumstances. As a PG, he doesn’t look great so far this season.

    • heart

From what I can see: Chemistry when Lamb was reinserted in the line up & frequent changes in personnel at PF position, MW, Kaminsky, etc. Players have to adjust on a dime and opponents also adjust their defense scheme.

    • sws94

The coach is doing his job. I think the schemes are there. I think Hawes is messing things up but maybe Lin has to bring the ball up faster and organize the guys faster. Something is off but I don’t think that the coach has bad schemes for the 2nd unit.

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais
    • Joe what do you know

Oh plenty of bull dung! Lamb might become somewhat of a defensive liability via his mind lapse or spacing out session. But to say Lin will put additional burden on Batum is just ignorant…

    • CJSHYY

I think honeymoon is over for Lin & coach. I thought they talked & problem solved… looks like not … OMG, this is not good for Lin.

    • blubell
    • Linzen

Agree 100000%! Hawes was just hawe-rrible. He had no chemistry with Lin whatsoever. Everybody on the second unit were hustling and he just stood there and set week screens. It was like Jordan Hill all over again. Didn’t even look like he wanted to be there until the 4th.

      FREE the beast!

    • CJSHYY

D is always a good excuse to put blame on Lin.

    • Spot

I told you. It’s all about defence.

    • CJSHYY

So now Batum just like Harden no need to have D anymore?

    • Rick Johnson

Was there some problem between Lin and coach?

    • Spot

It’s like Lin or Lamb can’t defend.

Lamb won an NCAA title playing with Kemba as backcourt partner.

    • Spot

I don’t think that has ever started.

Like Scott who said who was a big fan of Jeremy.

      Hopefully Cho is Jeremy’s fan

    • KHuang

      Pfft.

Clifford DOESN’T KNOW what he’s talking about here.

      Hairston is no defensive stopper.

    • CJSHYY

Not really sure but I guess it’s all about not playing Lin’s game. How nice coach talked about Lin before Heat game. But since last game & today… even he didn’t name it but I think it’s all on Lin. Today he only let Lin played 21 min? Just like a normal bench. This is really bad. I am worry next game if Lin don’t play well then he will not close the game.

    • BobbyH

Both PF of ALT shoot over 0.5. I guess that is the standard.

    • KHuang

      That’s statistically debunkable NONSENSE.

    • KHuang

      No problem.

It’s just that Clifford thinks that Lin’s undersized and can’t defend.

    • Linzen

Oh that’s total bull. Lin held his own guarding all SG in the last 10 games!
If anything, he has a little hard time with speedy PG like Schroder.

    • CJSHYY

Don’t count on it… they are all working for Hornets.

    • KHuang

Well, this IS a Lin fan forum where Lin’s expected to shoot elite numbers EVERY game.

    • CJSHYY

If so then why he only played Lin 21 min today?

    • KHuang

      Don’t point fingers at me.

I’ve been the one here clamoring for Lin NOT to start.

    • Spot

The ones who got Jeremy a contract.

I still think Charlotte is high on Jeremy but Clifford is not.

    • David Kim

      Try first..lol

    • sws94

He wasn’t having the impact of other guards, like Kemba. Don’t worry so much about one day and how many minutes he got. If Lin plays like Lin can play, he’ll play many minutes.

    • CJSHYY

No. They are on the same page. From top to coach.

    • sws94

Ridiculous. Clifford is very high on Jeremy. Clifford can’t help that Lin didn’t shoot well or play well in the first. He can only look at lineups for the whole team and try to put out the best 5 at a time.

    • Spot

No no. You will see. Clifford’s days are numbered if he can’t get a win sooner rather than later.

    • CJSHYY

That’s the problem. If Lin has no impact on the game then they will not use him that much in the future… that’s really bad for him. smh! Contract year & this….

    • Spot

      Don’t agree.

    • BobbyH

I will give another 7 games to give Clifford the benefits of doubt. But if today’s game and the post game comments have any indication, it is not good for Lin, unless Lin really really steps up in scoring.

Hornets needs Lin coming off the bench and score a bunch, not leading 2nd unit to warm the role players up. That’s why Hornets sign Lin in the first place, not being a starter, PG or SG.

    • Spot

Told you. Old school coach without offensive playbook who thinks defence win games.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Before that he will not nice to anyone who don’t have impact on the game.

    • blubell
    • sws94

What did he say in the post game comments?

    • KHuang

Today Clifford was justified in NOT playing Lin a lot, mainly because Lin didn’t shoot well.

HOWEVER, “bad defense” is NEVER a good excuse to not play Lin.

If Clifford wants “defense” in the starting lineup, don’t go with a defensive failure like Hairston who still got whupped today. At least go with someone like Jeremy Lamb who HAS A CHANCE of defending.

    • Tommy

Clifford is clueless and only sees Lin as a back up
I been saying this since day 1

    • zxcvb

Insanity = Trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Linsanity = Starting Lin, creating space for the 1st unit, winning games.

    • KHuang

Administration, why have you not banned Opentruth for firing hate flames at me on this forum?

This CYBERSTALKER fired at least 5 hate posts against me today despite Community Regulations asking us not to flame each other here. This is not the first time he’s done that on this forum.

I have sent you a private email about this issue. NO RESPONSE YET.

I look forward to resolution on this issue.

    • BobbyH

He is redundant to start Lin/Lamb b/c defense.

    • sws94

He said he is a starter-level player or a high-level backup.

    • Tommy

Now I see why Spencer Hawes doesnt start any where cuz hes bad low bbiq
Lamb can light it up some nights

    • zxcvb

You’re 0-3, Coach! It’s not like you have a winning formula here.

Try something different instead of the same losing lineup that has lost exactly the same way for 3 straight games.

    • heart

      Code word: ‘fit’ theory.

    • Tommy

but he was brought in as a back up

    • BobbyH

      edited

    • sws94

OK. Lin or Lamb. To me it sounds like he doesn’t care if Hairston gets a bunch of fouls on him. He doesn’t want Lin or Lamb in foul trouble. He won’t come out and say that but Hairston has size and CC likes size.

    • CJSHYY

I agree w you on Clifford’s comments are not good on Lin. In fact, since last game he said the problem will solve within one day… I thought it’s OK between them but from today… don’t think so… BAD for Lin if he continues to play like this…Clifford is fighting for his job & he sure will take whatever to keep it.

    • KHuang

      It’s NOT Clifford’s offensive schemes.

It’s that when the team does its iso Jefferson scheme, that’s 80s standstill offense even though that’s what Clifford preaches his team not to do.

And then off the bench, Hawes and Zeller are essentially two 7 foot immobile CONES that don’t do anything other than take up space. So Lin’s playing 2 on 5 when he’s got just Lamb attacking with him, 3 on 5 when Kaminsky is there attacking like he should

    • KHuang

Hairston is ONE OF THE problems.

    • Dorothy

Kuang, I don’t think Opentruth has posted on this site.

    • BobbyH

Yes, that I agree. If Lamb and Robert can score like crazy. Lin;s minutes will diminish. They don’t need 2nd unit PG. They need 2nd unit scoring, don’t care who.

    • KHuang

Even those guys have to dribble a little bit and control their own decisionmaking a bit just to survive in today’s NBA.

    • Spot

      ??

    • KHuang

Lamb has shaken off his early season OKC laziness and become a GOOD defender.

Now he’s gotta find a way to become more efficient in his shooting – and Lamb has the talent and fundamentals to do it.

    • Spot

In this team, no one can score like crazy unless they have a big night.

    • sws94

You said he only thinks of Lin as a back up. Clifford made those comments to the media about Lin. What you said is obviously not what Clifford is expressing to the media about him.

    • blubell
    • CJSHYY

Ya! What they want it’s who can score for the game then he can get the min. Like today, Lin is just one of the bench players. smh! Bad for him if he is not play like preseason. Really worry me. Look at Lance… they don’t treat him like star anymore after he & coach not get along well.

    • Spot

      He just needs to play.

    • KHuang

Lin has to not overly rely on 3 pointers.

No player, not even Stephen Curry, can score big by JUST shooting 3s.

Even when Lin gets handed the ball at the 3 point line, he should resist the urge to fire 3s indiscriminately.

He should drive in, siphon the defense toward him, GET HIS BLOODY NOSES, and peel himself off the ground after being hammered!

    • TTNN

no, the coach was hoping somebody could defend the best scorer in the opponent team, and he don’t want Batum to do that…. at the beginning of the game. He think PJ can do that, but he might not want Lamb/Lin do that either.

    • CJSHYY

Is that coach next to Lin?

    • KHuang

      WRONG.

Look at the 5+ hate posts he fired at me earlier today here.

    • sws94

He’ll have better shooting days. Lin fans should not panic. He shot OK the first game and poorly the last 2 games. He’ll have his shot sooner or later. Cliff knows that he can shoot better and score at the rim better. Also, he’ll get foul calls. He didn’t tonight but he will in other games and get his points at the foul line.

    • KHuang

      NO.

Opentruth flamed me today on this site after flaming me over 15 times on the other site.

These CYBERSTALKERS should be BANNED BY ADMINISTRATION.

    • BobbyH

Hope this is a wake up call for him, to understand that his role is to score, not matter what position he is put in.

If he wants to be a PG, wait for a team and MDA like coach to fully entrust him. Not this team.

Hornet’s offense playbook is not to Lin’s strength, if just based on the past 3 games.

    • sws94

Right. I think he sees PJ as a starter, not a finisher and to be used strategically for his size and strength. If he gets in foul problems, it saves fouls for Lin or Lamb.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Hawes has been awful…Wow..I was surprised by how bad he was.

    • Spot

I think what’s going on in Jeremy’s mind:

He played a great first game but he understands that no matter how well plays they will still see him as a backup energy guy who can’t defend.

So he doesn’t play free to miss. And he misses.

If Curry had a coach like that I don’t think he could’ve hit all those deep 3s.

That’s why I laugh when people say Jeremy must solve his problem alone. Simply, he can’t do it, cause it’s a team game with teammates and coaches.

    • blubell

Khuang, relax. This has been resolved.

    • Spot

      Yep.

    • sws94

If it is open, take it. If he can’t get to the rim, use the mid-range.

    • Alain Gervais

If this year don’t work Lin may have to bypass the player option

    • KHuang

Hrmph, I thought this forum was MODERATED.

      I guess not.

I should probably not stick around here for long.

    • Spot

      Oops, sorry ?

    • sws94

It’s a long season. Let’s hope things get a lot better.

    • heart

Jeremy should play every game like his last game, and shoots. My take, I think his shooting is off bc he spent lots of energy on defense. Another unwritten underlining issue that we know it’s there, but can’t prove it is that his opponents don’t want to be schooled by him.

    • KHuang

      Accepted!

Why won’t Administration here BAN CYBERSTALKER TROLLS???

    • Alain Gervais

      hopefully

    • CJSHYY

I think so but he’s not since season started…

    • Spot

      Give them time ?

Just don’t answer and keep asking a ban

    • sws94

He showed more grit today. I think he played considerably better in the 2nd half today than he did last game even with some of the clutch shots he hit in the game. He fought more.

    • KHuang

I don’t really feel that there’s a “unwritten underlining issue”.

I think that Lin’s DANGEROUS as a player, and so opponents rightfully load up on him with multiple defenders.

Hawes and Zeller have played braindead and soft and scared the last 3 games. Lin’s stuck trying to protect them. And Frank Kaminsky doesn’t play enough to take pressure off Lin while the ONE GUY that could punish opponents in Hansbrough doesn’t even play.

If Lin’s big men weren’t playing so LITTLE, Lin would be putting up his customary production.

    • CJSHYY

He will not stay here & he didn’t plan to do so .. on the day he signed w Hornets, he said in his FB he’s no intention to replace Kemba…. I think he just came here to play his game but too bad… they don’t do that now…smh!

    • Linzen

Hawes is like Jordan Hill all over again.

    • Alain Gervais

Its not grit its getting to his spots on the field to get his shots. The shots he took in preseason have not been attempted yet. He simply does not have the space

    • KHuang

I’ve been doing that with Opentruth for MONTHS on this forum.

      IT DOESN’T WORK.

      Administration won’t ban him.

    • TTNN

worse, Hill don’t TO that much

    • Dorothy

I read this forum pretty frequently. I did not see his posts at all which tells me he must have targeted you from older posts when we forcus on the newer posts. If that is the case, that is very clever of him.

    • KHuang

No, at least Jordan Hill was TOUGH and COULD DEFEND and COULD SOMETIMES HIT SHOTS and LEARNED HOW TO CUT off Lin.

    • TTNN

no, even with 2M, he could ask for a long term contract, so there is no way for him to bypass the player option.

    • KHuang

      Older posts?

The hate posts he fired at me were RIGHT AFTER THE GAME ON THIS THREAD TODAY.

Adminstration didn’t ban him. THAT’S ON THEM.

    • sws94

Right. What I meant is he wrestled for loose balls, shoved guys around more, made a great save at one point in the game, really hustled. Offensively he hasn’t found his groove but he did a lot of little things and didn’t let the other team intimidate him. He showed some lack of composure in the other game that he didn’t show here. I’m encouraged by that.

    • Rick Johnson

Things had looks so promising in the preseason. Guess that’s why they say the preseason doesn’t count. Dramatic change though. Kind of deflating.

    • Spot

Agree. They prefer let Hawes or Zeller shoots unmarked and load Jeremy.

That was the problem today: Atlanta was clogging the linea but there were only Lamb who can shoot. And Zeller and Hawes in the paint made things more difficult.

    • blubell

This is the first time I’ve seen him post here and it was resolved.

    • Linzen

And Lin hasn’t play any PNR games… it is more like Pick and trapped.

    • KHuang

      Is he banned?

      I’m OUT if he’s not.

    • heart

Yep. I wonder why. I can only speculate that his top priority assignment is defense and get everyone involved. But no one is making shot and by the time he wants to shoot he’s already tired out. His shooting attempt is very concerning.

    • sws94

Not great picks and no rollers. Jefferson actually rolled a few times with Kemba.

    • CJSHYY

BTW, did coach say 2nd unit or 2Q not organize well? He will fix it?

    • KHuang

      Well, IS HE?

It would be the 2ND time I’ve been forced off this forum.

    • Spot

At least Charlotte FO know to have a good roster. Now they know they have a bad coach.

    • KHuang

Things indeed were EXTREMELY PROMISING in the preseason.

But then Clifford made that COCKAMANIE MOVE to start the worst player in NBA history!

That has thrown the whole team completely out of whack!!!

There’s no way any of us could’ve predicted Coach Clifford making such a DUMB move.

At least if you start Hairston, play him token starter minutes and YANK HIM OUT OF THE GAME. Don’t let opponents run up the score on him!!!

    • MoominFloren

Oh I can tell how disappointed Lin was just from this pic…..

    • Linzen

Absolutely! Hawes’s picks were so weak. Please let Tyler play. At the very least, Tyler hustles like h***.

    • Alain Gervais

All the red flags that we see. Lets be honest. All the bench has to do is be where they are suppose to be. Lin cant play his game when the offense if out of whack. Its crazy Lin use to be the one out of control now its his team SMH!!!!. Its so simple coach said it could be fixed in one day if the all study enough and work enough. The only thing thats scares me is i know Lins past and these thing seem to never go has way. hopefully this year is different.

    • Tommy

the hornets look pretty bad actually
      horrible screens for everyone
none of the bigs are tough need some psycho T man

    • sws94

And he’s nasty. There is a role for enforcers like Metta World Peace. He adds a toughness that Al doesn’t have. And he can’t be worse than Hawes.

    • Linzen

      10 thumbs up!

    • KHuang

Hansbrough has another skill that nobody but diehard Pacers fans like me know about.

If Hansbrough catches the ball high, he will PUT THE BALL ON THE FLOOR and either take a pull up jumper or slice inside for an easy inside score.

Hansbrough will bowling ball his way inside, knocking opponents aside. When he’s met at the rim, he puts his left shoulder down and uses it to smack opponents before going up for his soft right hand hook shot that nobody can block.

    • Alain Gervais
    • sws94

I’m just not sure Lin is a PG that can organize. He thrives in some situations but when that’s taken away, sometimes he just doesn’t have counters. If Brian Roberts goes in, and even if he chucks, they seem faster and more organized, and sometimes he scores, then maybe Lin doesn’t have the PG skills we want him to have. PG is more than a great passer and dribble/drive man, it’s also being a floor general. Maybe he’s not that.

    • KHuang

Then I will hold you to it just as you hold me to your Community standards.

The instant he posts another flame against me, I am GONE and will NEVER RETURN.

I was forced off once already. The 2nd time I’m forced off, that’s IT.

    • Linzen

An everybody (not here) complaints about Tyler’s poor shooting. Well, I happen to remember a HOF name Dennis Rodman, who can’t even shoot layups! But, he is awesome in pulling down rebounds!

    • Alain Gervais

Lins team usually have been organized.

    • KHuang

I fully accept that in the low minutes and sporadic appearances Hansbrough has had, he may not have shot well enough to prove that he’s an elite scorer.

However, he can’t be doing any worse than what the current big men are doing!

    • blubell

I don’t know what happened the first time but no one is forcing you out of this forum. You would be walking out on us (“I’m OUT if he’s not”) and depriving us of your invaluable input. As I mentioned earlier, this is the first time I’ve seen him violate the rules so I gave him a warning. However, he failed to heed the warning thus banned. I would appreciate your patience as it can be difficult to moderate on game threads, screening all these posts. Thank you for your understanding and I hope you continue to post.

    • KHuang

The starters are NOT IN SHAPE.

They’re getting too fatigued too easily.

Clifford playing out of shape guys like Hairston and Jefferson and Walker and Batum is KILLING THE TEAM.

Sooner or later, INJURIES are going to set in with the starters and likely either Hawes or Zeller.

    • KHuang

I won’t call Clifford a “bad” coach just yet.

But if this continues for a while and the starters continue to play worse and worse with the bench big men failing more and more, then NOT playing people like Kaminsky and Hansbrough and Lamb is going to haunt Clifford.

    • jlim7

I think what Clifford meant, Batum will have easier job on defense if he is SG. And from what i saw today, Batum took advantage his height mismatch by shooting 3 all day long, so as long as his 3 fall, Clifford will take this route to get easy points. So, this is all about Batum being SG.

    • KHuang

      Totally accurate assessment.

    • Spot

Last year he did something similar.

Cho brought in players who shoot 3s cause wants modern day basketball.

Clifford is refusing to play these new players cause he’s an old school coach.

So, or Clifford wins games or he will be fired soon.

They didn’t extend his expiring contract.

    • KHuang

      Oh, he IS BANNED!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

I hate posting flame war stuff.

You guys REALLY ARE the best.

I humbly and happily stay here.

    • Alain Gervais
    • KHuang

      Opentruth IS banned!

      THANKS BLUBELL!

Portal is THE BEST. You run a strictly policed forum, safe for families and Lin fans. That’s why I’m here.

Now I can return to strictly appreciating the NBA through the lens I call “Jeremy Lin”.

    • Spot

That’s why he plays PG too!!!

      SMH!!!

    • blubell
    • sws94

So what’s wrong with his unit? He needs help? btw, the other boards are killing Hawes. Lin hasn’t been mentioned much. Also Jefferson’s defense is being highly criticized.

    • heart

Al was usually the last one running back to offense. That’s what I saw in yesterday’s game.

    • KHuang

Yes – but I still want to give Clifford a full chance.

I’m NOT WORRIED AT ALL ABOUT LIN – he’ll still get his. And he still GOT HIS tonight, despite a subpar shooting game.

I would like Clifford to succeed because he seems to be the first coach that truly appreciates Lin from the start. But Clifford’s gotta handle his nonLin players properly too!

    • KHuang

Clifford talks constantly about “transition defense” being the problem for the Hornets.

I’m not seeing that, and it doesn’t reflect in the low scoring by opponents.

No, I think that the Hornets need some inside scoring and offensive rebounding. The emphasis on Al Jefferson’s 80s iso standstill game is good in doses but isn’t producing consistent results that the team needs.

I’d like to see Zeller and Hawes actually try to act like 7 foot big men for once and plant themselves in the paint for postups instead of just setting outside screens and cherrypicking for shots. I don’t like big men that play small.

    • Ben Johnson

yeah, everyone write the NBA…they always change blatanly wrong calls like this…JLin will end up with a 5/1 ast/to Ratio…make the game a little better looking

    • Dorothy

If Clifford would not start Lin because Lin’s defense, I have doubt he is a good coach as we thought he was.

    • blubell

Try not to engage in flame wars by not replying and let us handle it. Also don’t threaten us with your self imposed exile again. lol.

    • KHuang

Cool, ADMINISTRATION TOOK CARE OF IT.

      I’m deweaponized.

    • KHuang

      Lin bricked too.

      He shot too many 3s.

He’s gotta STEP UP – or at least STEP DOWN INTO THE PAINTED AREA even if guys are on him.

Lin needs to start mowing people down again, even if it draws charges and gets him bloodied. Make the refs CALL FOULS.

    • jlim7

I think it is more on FO or MJ who reserved the place of SF for MKG. And they also reserved place for Kemba, Batum and Jefferson.

    • Spot

I don’t think he truly appreciates Lin.

Only time he made Jeremy start was in Shanghai against Clippers probably cause FO told him to do it. And they won big!

So, to me, it’s like he’s walking out from Charlotte match after match.

He’s starting Hairston probably cause he was his choice in last year’s draft.

In his interview he vouched for Hairston before Detroit game and said: I want to see him how good he plays.

One game for him was enough to make him start. Not for Jeremy.

    • KHuang

      TOUGHNESS is the problem.

Both Zeller and Hawes are playing as if they’ve never played basketball before.

That’s consistent with their history as nonproducing players, though I am surprised Hawes is as soft as he is. I expected more toughness from him.

Also, the lack of a true small forward is putting too much ballhandling pressure on Lin. If Kaminsky simply played more at the 3, that would solve that issue completely. Kaminsky has EARNED the right to play more while Zeller and Hawes have not.

    • Spot

And, most of all, i doubt he believes in Jeremy.

    • Steppen03

“Coach, I think we’ve seen enuff. We need to start Project X Immediately: #1). Lin have to start and gets his 30+ mpg, take over PJ. #2) Roberts need to run the 2nd unit for 10min. #3) We need to see T-Hans in action. ASAP!!!

    • Uh-Oh

Good job bluebell for taking it calmly and firmly!

    • Spot

      To me, it’s all Clifford.

If they believed in MKG they would’ve brought in Batum.

    • Rick Johnson

Sad, when the only joy anymore is watching the Lakers lose.

    • Spot

You forget Kaminsky. He would be another game changer.

    • Spot

And Houston. And Knicks pretty soon.

    • Rick Johnson

Houston will probably eventually get it together. Knicks starting to look good. Lakers the only one you can depend on to lose.

    • kauaiblue

i love watching houston get spanked…

    • KHuang

I follow the Lakers because of Nick Young.

He’s potential trade bait to the Hornets – and he’d be a GIGANTIC HELP to Lin off the bench.

Roy Hibbert is a guy I love, but he’s not coming to the Hornets. The Lakers won’t give him up.

As for the rest of the team, I’m not following them. I only follow GOOD players!

    • CJSHYY

I like Rox to loss… Lakers is bad so you know they will loss but if Rox can loss to Heat today… that will make me feel a lot better after today’s Hornets game.

    • Spot

      First games.

If Charlotte had a good coach they could have a deep play-off run.

    • David Kim

Didnt coach say he will consider Lin as a starter seriously? Did he lie? Lol

    • KHuang

Dorothy, I MYSELF would not start Lin because I don’t like the way the starters play!

But I wouldn’t play Hairston so much. He’d average under 15 mpg for me.

    • Steppen03

It’s Not on the coach. Players need to hit shots. And It Is Still a freaking New Team – they’re are close on 3 games – Very Good sign it’s NOT a Blowout like some other new teams. They need to make some adjustments and improve on the little things. But yeah, PJ needs to sit down and try start Lin to see how it goes that route. Give it a try, coach. Where’s Roberts? He can be playing 10min.

    • Dorothy

so, you think Nick Young is another good player ruined by BS?

    • Spot

Actually trade could happen cause Kobe likes center who plays post like Al.

Hibbert could make defence better but offensively… They need to space the game with Kaminsky

    • KHuang

      Honestly, I am NOT SURE.

All I know is that Young looks really good playing next to Lin.

Even though Young is an erratic shooter, he’s unlike any of Lin’s current teammates in that Young has to be GUARDED. So no triple teams on Lin when Young’s on the court.

Also, Young is badly underrated defensively and is a true team player. He shoots, but he MAKES when Lin gets him open. On standstill shooting when Lin’s on the court, Young is as good as shooter there is in the NBA.

Lin and Young were spearheading the NBA’s best bench last season. Young averaged a whopping 24.1 points in February before the knee injury took him down. I want to see Young and Lin reuinited.

    • kauaiblue

remember in the 1988 finals, he took a ill advised jump shot to win the game and missed… lakers went on to win…

    • Wayne Li

Here is my friendly suggestion to Jeremy Lin:

If you have the look, shoot ! That is what makes Curry a great PG. Don’t force it, pass opportunity will come and you will get your assists.

Don’t try to be a bad version of “Derek Fisher” because you are not. Besides, you don’t have the supporting cast to be a “Derek Fisher” and you can’t afford to be a “Derek Fisher”, period.

    • KHuang

The LA front office is enamored with Hibbert’s size and presence, so he’s not going anywhere even though he’s frozen out in games.

I’d restore the powerful Hansbrough Hibbert connection that RULED the East when those two brutes muscled the Pacers into the playoffs years ago.

Those two guys bruised up Houston with Asik and Young in Lin’s first year. Hansbrough in particularly caused Coach McHale to say “Indiana banged us up”.

Hibbert would be a much more effective court spacer than either Zeller or Hawes. Instead of playing pinkytoes on the 3 point line like Zeller and Hawes do, Hibbert would ROLL TO THE RIM. That would open up space for Lin to attack, that’s if not Lin hasn’t hit a cutting Hibbert who can finish a lot better at the rim than people realize.

    • kauaiblue

the other site needs to ban opentruth too!

    • KHuang

      The looks are NOT THERE.

Not forcing the action means that opportunity will NEVER come.

Lin needs to become a kamikaze player, driving at the rim even if he bleeds every game. That’s what it takes on this currently MISMANAGED Charlotte team.

    • David Kim

Lin Landry Novak Jeffries chandler(better 3pt shooter, alley hoop , p&r partner)
      Much more balanced team than
      Lin lamb Marvin Cody Hawes

    • KHuang

      Lin Lamb Williams Hansbrough Kaminsky.

Would likely beat Lin Landry Novak Jeffries Chandler.

Would EASILY beat Beverley, Harden, Parsons, Jones, and Howard.

    • Wayne Li

JLin did have a couple of open looks in last two games and he lost/missed them cuz he hesitated.

    • blubell

      Sorry, can’t help you there…

    • Rick Johnson

Hawes and Zeller 3’s aren’t respected enough to draw any defense.

    • Lam

Is it that bad, is Hornets as bad as the Lakers last year? I don’t see the Hornets boards killing Lin, more like Hawe’s is the one under fire. There is more optimism for the team at “the Hive” and “Swarm&Sting” than both Lin sites which is almost all gloom and doom after three games.

    • KHuang

      Yes, unfortunately so.

Not even Clifford’s modern day spread offense works when you have incompetent players who can’t play.

    • zxcvb

In the postgame, Clifford said you need “at least 7 or 8 games” before you can reevaluate rotations. So I guess this awful Hairston starting lineup will continue for 4-5 more games. Just throwing games away…

    • Great picture from Swarm&Sting writer on the Hairston situation

      https://twitter.com/DeDashCray/status/660960821204398085

    • kauaiblue

      lol

    • KHuang

The Hornets are not as bad as the Lakers last year.

That said, the Hornets coaches are NOT USING their talent. And I’m not talking about Lin who I feel has been played totally appropriately including today.

Hansbrough and Kaminsky need to play more.
Marvin Williams should be sent to the bench instead of getting KILLED at PF.
Start Cody Zeller, provide a bit of defensive muscle and rebounding to protect the starters
Start Lamb at the 2. If he shoots bad, nobody will blame him.
Don’t even play Hairston AT ALL, not even off the bench. He should be a DNP CD every game.
Reinsert Brian Roberts as bench PG so that Lin can be the bench SG. That way Lin can cut off the ball in a way that triple teams can’t load up on him as he crosses the midcourt line as a PG.

    • wow .. I hope 7-8 games don’t mean 7-8 losses before he makes a drastic change.

      This is not good.

    • Wayne Li

Teams do not play tough defenses in preseason. Thus PG will have time to make better decisions.

    • blubell

I don’t think he lied. It’s too early to tell what will eventually happen to the line up… lets hope soon.

    • KHuang

      It likely will.

Even if Lin bounces back – and he WILL – Lin’s positive minutes won’t be able to save the team from Hairston’s incompetence.

    • zxcvb

I predict 2-6 or 1-7. It’s just awful right now. The truth is that Miami and ATL didn’t even play that well.

    • Ben Johnson

Yup, Miami is getting killed right now at home against the Houston Crockets

    • spiderman

      Clifford is turning into this

    • zxcvb

Another relevant tidbit: Clifford still doesn’t like starting Lin (and esp. not Lamb), though he’s “not saying it won’t happen.” Thinks it forces Batum to guard the best player and creates too many players who need the ball.

The first part of the argument is total bunk. Second part makes sense if you have guys won’t share and you have an elite high volume scorer — but Charlotte doesn’t have those problems.

    • Kudos to @disqus_3ojL2FVU9I:disqus for handling badly-behaving user correctly!

I wasn’t able to watch the whole game but I trust our mods will be swift to react to enforce our rules

    • CJSHYY

I think he means close game 5. He already said he will not move Lin to starting lineup.

    • It’s just such a bad fit but I guess most Hornets player played so bad in the 4th quarter 🙁 that he would need to wait to see what happens in the next few games

    • MoominFloren

I guess it will be 0-7.

    • I wonder how things got so messed up from the preseason.
The shooting went cold, the ball movement was not as crisp.

It didn’t look like the same team who played aggressively with good screens & confident shooting

    • David Kim

      It’s been a disapointing start but it’s a long year & we’ve got a lot of new guys”@JLin7

    • MoominFloren

The coach is losing control to me.

Everything goes wrong after the preseason: lineup, rotation, Alfense, discilpine etc. Sometimes you need a wake up call, 0-7 it is

    • Guest

Could it be that a 2 million dollar player would not be grantes starting position? The pay is too low for the brigjt light?

    • Joe what do you know

Yeah I agree with you. Hornets is definitely nowhere as bad as the Lakers situation for Lin. I think some of us here still suffering PTSD and have fits from time to time.
I remember from the post game thread of the CHA@ATL game, people were screaming for Lin to shoot more. And he did exactly that in this game, kudos to him even though his shots weren’t falling like we wished. I just don’t understand what more do we Lin fans want from him. He’s doing his part alright but we keep asking for more and I get the feeling that we are becoming intolerant to anything less than a 15/5 game from him.
I also read RealGM forums and my impression is that the Hornets forum people over there don’t seem to be dissatisfied with Lin’s performance at all. They give him quite a bit of room for errors and benefit of doubt than we do here… Strange…

    • TTNN
    • Dorothy

nope, PBev had a very small salary when he took over Lin’s starting job.

    • JoeTeam

Hawks are a good team. Coaching made some poor decisions. Game is at a high level, little things amplify. Witness hers collapse and Raiders improvement. Same kind of ownership ha ha.

    • TTNN

one thing I feel a bit interesting is that when Lin was about the “organized play”, and he was kind of, yeah, we need to follow the process, and check with coach what organzied play he want….. sounds like he don’t really know what the coach is want there, or what kind of organized play the coach was talking about……

    • Was disappointing they couldn’t get the win tonight. With a little bit of luck they may of got the W. Lin didn’t have his best game but he will bounce back and learn from this. The Hawks are a very well drilled team. It is no shame that they 0-3 right now, the team will get better as the season goes on.

I have written up an article on what the Hornets can work on https://jhaposts.wordpress.com/2015/11/02/things-the-charlotte-hornets-can-work-on/.

Hope you all enjoy, and once again thanks for all your support.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Does not matter what anyone like Batum can do, if Lin does not explode this team will be back to last year position again.

    • kauaiblue

why is my comment being examined for approval?

    • CJSHYY

Organized play? about what? 2nd unit?

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I agree, every play when he’s pg he always looks at Clifford on the sideline.

    • Hope

Jlin played ok. His shots were off a little.

      Next game.

    • new post-game thread is open

      http://www.jlinportal.com/g4-atl-cha-postgame-thread/

The Hornets shot poorly in the 4th quarter and lost a winnable game vs Atlanta Hawks 92-94

Paul Villareal pointed out correctly that it’s hard to overcome 1-18 shooting with 3 min left in the 4th quarter

      https://twitter.com/CNM_JLin_Vids/status/660958403121053696

JLin still struggled with his shooting for the 2nd game shooting 2-9 to end up with 7pts/4asts in 21 min

He did ok on the playmaking finding Marvin Williams for the big 3 and setting up teammates but all the shooting was cold.

Kemba Walker played big in the 4th quarter to attack the rim repeatedly and hit a 3pt and Marvin Williams contributed with a big 3pt bank shot off Lin’s assist but it’s not enough.

JLin will break through this slump one way or another. Hopefully it’s sooner than later because his team needs him.

In the post-game interview, JLin stated it has been a disappointing start but it’s a long year and they had a lot of new guys.

    • sws94

Hornets played 2 close games and came back in all 3. They aren’t that bad at all.

    • sws94

Exactly. And not at Hornets Planet either. We panic too easily. Coach finished with Hawes and I think that’s who he is talking about when he said he won’t finish next game with those 5. Lin looks like he’s trusted and we just need to hope Lin finds his shot and midrange shot. A few more games and maybe they’ll be chemistry with the 2nd unit or they’ll figure things out. But Charlotte fans aren’t not down on Lin at all that I’ve seen.

    • sws94

Don’t get your following Swaggy. He’s so one dimensional and anti-team player. Doesn’t do much defensively either. Fun guy and nice personality but he’s kind of a ball hog on the court.

    • Steppen03

At least, we’re not like the Rockets, up 20pt Vs Heat in after 2nd Q and now it’s even game after 3rd Q. Harden 2-10 – Smh… Made only 2 shots.

    • Dorothy

but ref gives him 14 FT, SMH

    • Guest

It would be unfair to hold Jeremy responsible for the loss. He should not either.

    • Acbc

how long did it take for Lin to feel comfortable with the Lakers last year? It was after the all star game when he finally got the feel of how everyone played. It takes time to develop chemistry, especially when Lin isn’t the facilitator. Now Lin has no control of the ball and he relays on the PG to set him up.

Clifford runs the motion offence. So how do 5 guys run around in motion make passes. When do you pass, who to and in what sequence do you connect the dots to create a play to set up an open man. Questions like these aren’t easy to answer in real time even if you pratice it repeatedly.

I’ve talked a bit about how our body has the ability to sense what each part of our body is I space and time as we move through our daily routines or in playing sports. This sense we have, or proprioception is how great athletes are able to manipulate their bodies to do intricate things while all around them is multiple people are interacting with them. Proprioception allows us to dribble without looking at the ball while looking around to scan the defensive set. It allows us to skate while we are stick handling a puck with out looking at it going full tilt into the defence.

Team chemistry is a lot like that. The person handling the ball has to feel his teammate’s motion to know when and where to pass the ball to. A good pick has to happen the same way. With out this “FEEL”, we have to make conscious decisions much like a stroke patient who has lost his ability to walk. If you’ve ever seen a stroke patient try to walk again you’ll marvel at the intricacies of the act of walking. The patient has to reconstruct the movements, the balance, the active balance and awareness to know that when you lift your feet to move forward, the other foot has to move itself to the right active balance point in order not to fall down. They have to think about reading and reacting to what they see before actually lifting one leg.

I have often brought up the analogy of the tight rope high flying dare Devils who make walking look so easy….that’s all it is. It’s just walking in balance. You and I can do it everyday. The difference is that dare Devils can control their fear of dying. They’ve trained their emotions to allow for the flow of signals and impulses unimpeded by fear of walling to their death. We how’ve would be so frightened that our movements would be complete jittery like a stroke patient learning to walk again.

Preseason is easy like walking on a rope laid down on the ground. Regular season is like walking across a 1 story building on a small wooden beam. It’s more pressure but it can be handled eventually. Playoffs and finals are like walking on a tightrope across the Garnd Canyon.

    • TTNN

the coach was talking about when there was one player not playing organized ball, that make other 4 don’t know what to do, not sure whom the coach is referring to …. lots of fans were thought that refers to Hawes, but not sure….

    • Kwok Wai Lai

You can see the frustration on his face.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Obviously someone stands out of position in offense that has caused organization problem. Clifford implied that 4 other guys was affected by that. Who is that player out of position in the 4Q?

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin/Lamb/Hawes Definitely not Marvin Williams and Cody.
Between these 3, they shared the same characteristic of being a new player and not familiar with Clifford’s system. Since Lin was the first taken out in the 4Q, I suspected that it was Lin.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Kemba did well in the game. He connected with the others and He scored.
I couldn’t say the same thing about the others.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Maybe Lin is the one who made organizational mistake.
The choices was narrowed down to Lin/Lamb/Hawes. Lin was the first taken out in the 4Q. He would be the most likely candidate. Clifford put him back in the 4Q though in the last 4 minutes and then Kemba started to take over the game.

NBA News: Jeremy Lin Plays Stellar Defense, Hornets Lose Nail-Biter To Hawks
      https://twitter.com/bolero2010/status/661085568005091328

If it wasn’t for Jeremy Lin’s late-game heroics, the Charlotte Hornets would have suffered a heavy defeat Sunday. Lin played stellar defense and collected four assists but it wasn’t enough as the Hornets suffered a heartbreaking 94-92 defeat to the visiting Atlanta Hawks at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

Lin, the Hornets’ substitute point guard, had two blocked shots and a steal besides collecting seven points and two boards off the bench. In the final quarter, Lin hit a crucial three-pointer, made a few crucial defensive plays and pushed the tempo to lead Charlotte’s fightback.

Having started the season 0-3, Lin and the Hornets have a lot of adjustments to make. “It’s been a disappointing start but it’s a long year and we’ve got a lot of new guys,” Lin said after the game (Lin’s post-game interview below).

On Saturday, Lin told nba.com that he had found a perfect situation in Charlotte, especially after playing in big markets such as Los Angeles, New York and Houston. “It’s been a great fit for me,” the point guard said. “I think Charlotte is definitely a little more low-key than some of the other cities I’ve played in. But aside from New York, I never really worried too much about the outside noise. I kind of got used to it. It didn’t really affect me the way it might have in the past.”

The Sportige wrote that it’s time for Hornets coach Steve Clifford to insert Lin into the starting unit, considering the struggles of Kemba Walker. “He (Clifford) needs more of Lin because Kemba Walker is
refusing to change. He shot 5-of-15 from the field in the loss to the Hawks and once again jumbled up the entire offensive game. Nicolas Batum and Lin were brought in (during the offseason) so the ball could move, not get glued to the hand of one inefficient point guard (Walker).”

Shockingly, Lin played only 21 minutes. The website further wrote: “Clifford needs to put Lin on the floor for more minutes. Maybe even start. The Hornets overall look better when he plays. The Hornets have problems in creativity and offense in general off the bench, but treating Lin like an upgraded bench player isn’t going to help the Hornets pick up the pace.”

    • Kwok Wai Lai

If you look at the scores of this last game, the bench failed to produce. It was the first team carrying the team.
The bench produced 27 points. Jeremy Lamb and Jeremy Lin scored the most points for the bench. Lamb also called and made plays too.

What is the problem? Is Lin adjusting to the new offense of the Hornets? However, I think Lin would be the first one to admit it if it was his mistake; if he really blew his assignments. That I could eliminate this.

So that left 2 other persons Lamb/Hawes. Who is the one blowing the assignment?

    • JLin Fan from Australia
    • Kwok Wai Lai

Great edition. Both Lin and Lamb did well in this game.
All Hornets fought hard. Although Hawes was clearly the slower and a bit out of shape but he shouldn’t be blamed. Let’s give him a few more games and I believe he could get his reflex back. He has size and he can shoot. If he did well, Lin-Lamb-Zeller-Hawes could be very deadly

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Yeah traditionally, Lin was unstoppable playing against the Bulls.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Clifford always wants to make his players better.
He will coach well. I bet Hawes will get back to his form before then.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Zeller played great defense and caused TOs. It’s Hawes who just needs time to get his confidence back.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

The Hornets could be as easy as 3-0. All these 3 games are winnable. It just takes time for the team chemistry to flourish. They’re all willing and the team is a happy bunch. So no single player needs to be responsible. Just move on and gets tougher everyday with this sort of experience. This team will grow much faster in adversity.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Remember, folks, basketball is a team sport.
Every player on the team can make the team better and no single player in this Hornet team is a weakling. Of course, it includes Hairston. He doesn’t look like someone that you can take him lightly on the court. Coach Clifford praised him a lot lately. This team just needs time to grow. They’re close in all these 3 games. It’s growing pain for so many new players to add to this team. This is the price of getting more talented players.
It’s all good. I won’t push the panic bottom for the Hornets. I have seen so many players that could have carried the team in the future. It’s going to be a great season, without a doubt.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

      Can’t agree more!

    • Kwok Wai Lai

It’s not is fault. It’s not the first unit which sucks. It’s the 2nd unit which has problems. They scored only 27 points.
The truth is Hairston shouldn’t be blamed at all in this game. Coach Clifford has just rewarded him with more minutes. Obviously he’s making improvements and the first team played well in this game. His +/- is positive.

Zeller plays almost exclusively for 2nd unit doing all the hustling and defense and he shouldn’t be blamed too despite his +/- rating. It’s Hawes who needs time to adjust to this new team. The 2nd unit is growing and this is growing pain.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

This team just needs time to adjust to the NBA tempo. The talents are here but the team needs time to merge together. That’s why the first unit has done better than the 2nd team but they’re all willing to improve. The games are close. Clifford is doing the right thing for this team. Give time for them to grow.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Hawes is a little slow to adjust to the new offense and he tends to hesitate in his link with the guards but he’s definitely a willing player. It will take some games for him to come along. Big man is not as easy as Lin and Lamb to change. Lin and Lamb are playing much better together in spacing and helping. It’s definitely not Zeller and Marvin Williams that Clifford has praised. Who else could it be?

When the center doesn’t position himself properly, it affects all the passing lanes.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

As I see it, the 2nd unit would consist of Lamb-Lin-Zeller-Hawes-Kaminsky.
Totally only 10 players will be used in the first 7 games.
Brian Roberts would have to wait once Lamb is healthy.
