G29 MEM @CHA Game Thread

After a road win at Memphis, Hornets has lost 5 out of 6 games before they face the Grizzlies again tonight. The only game they won was when JLin started in place of an ill Batum.

  • Has the Hornets offense become too predictable with too many 3s and not enough PnRs?
  • With Al coming back with the 2nd unit tonight, will it help the Bench Force 1?
  • Will Kemba and Batum poor 36% shooting in the past 5 games improve tonight? They will need to improve their 3pt shooting accuracy (13% for Kemba and 27% for Batum) if the Hornets want to increase their chance to win.

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s continue to shoot at least 10 FG  & 4 FT attempts. Relax, be your aggressive self & just play your game on matter what happens

  • 1mtoldman

    first non mod. too easy.

  • JoeTeam

    Start Lin!

  • heart

    2*

  • Awesome stats like usual 🙂

All stats point to JLin helping out the starters and Hornets to win.
All politics point to FO and coaches to use JLin to only power the bench and be decoy to the designated stars.

I guess NBA teams is okay with losing games with ‘designated stars’.
If Kemba and Batum still shoot 13% and 27% from 3s like in the past 5 games, there’ll be outcry to shake up the starting lineup

  • wu kong

yep. yep and yep. just waiting on more hornets fans to start the outcry… nothing we say will really matter… a few numbers might help turn the tide…

  • 1mtoldman

too messy for me to get into those different lineup things.

but lins on/off net +/- this year is ridiculous. (off the charts versus anything hes’ ever done or anyone else on the team is doing).

but im not sure it means anything. there are more traditional stats i prefer. (still its something commentators were pointing to when discussing lins’ credentials within the group of 6th man award possibilities).

  • Spot

Point is most NBA owners know nothing about how to build a team. Same is Michael Jordan.

They see Kemba has a good crossover and think they got their franchise player. Jeremy is needed just to pump Kemba’s numbers.

    They have
    Kemba
    Lamb
    Batum
    MKG

All they want is a big now cause they don’t want Al anymore.

  • 1mtoldman

heres something all stats point to: lin has been the hornets best player over last 5 games. not even close. and the exception to the rapidly fading to historic norms “regression to means” of batum/walker.

  • wu kong

Yes his stats are really good.

  • Lin’s higher Net Rating is no doubt due to his superb shutdown D helping the Bench Force 1 and even starters to outscore the opponent.

He’s proven to be very valuable. Now it’s up to coaches to use him properly to win games

  • JoeTeam

Guess with the rise of Clips sale to Balmer, new TV deal coming, etc. owners can really take a step up in value as long as they are pressing certain levers. Don’t know what they are exhaustively, but maybe one of them is go have some stars. Wonder when they’ll decide to follow JLin’s star that is shining every day but the Sun is too bright.

  • 1mtoldman

clifford is way down on lamb now. thats clear. dont know what the fo thinks. and i still dont think batum will come back.

  • Hope

With aj back, lin’s stat 7pts/2last/21min.

  • 1mtoldman

nba is 3 pt happy the what game was it i was watching christmas there were at one point like 45 3’s shot bye the two teams and 35 missed; something like that.

i guess it isn’t just the “kids” that see steph curry and think they can all do that.

  • 1mtoldman

i really dont see how big’s al’s return should impact lins minutes useage much at all. the rotational aspects for lin are 1 thru 3.

it would be zeller/hawes/kaminski who would be affected by big al’s return i would think.

    could be wrong.

  • TTNN

no, Lin was eating Lamb’s min, has nothing to do with AI.

  • TTNN

with Zeller starting as center, I’d think that should be Hawes/Hansbrough losing min.

  • 1mtoldman

hawes primarily who has been bad enough lately to be deminitized anyway. hansborough hasn’t got any minutes yet to lose to speak of.

  • TTNN

I think Cody as starting center experiment is not successful. This team still need AI. I actually like AI got to play together with Lin. I always thought Lin will play well with AI, as long as they don’t put PJ in that line up, LOL.

The starters is not balanced, they might end up shooting more 3s, but might dig a big hole again.

  • wu kong

NBA is often so fake/ contrived and so obvious about it. Pushing agendas and ‘stars’ and the public mostly buy it ( hook line and sinker) J Harden was celebrated in the win last night against the Spurs… he went 7/21 to get 20 pts! 2/6 on threes but I saw plenty of tweets about his 3’s saving the day. if you just looked at his basic stats 20 pts, 9 Ast you would think wow good job Harden… but look a little deeper and you see the 7/21 to get those 20 pts and 4 TO and the -4 +/- next to Ariza for the lowest.

  • TTNN

yeah, Lin had very clear off court negative and strong positive on court stats there. And all the starters has weak on court stats really telling something.

Well, this team don’t start the best player, that’s the reason, pretty easy to see.

  • wu kong

Cody is a failed experiment time to stop it now. Lin should be starting and getting ~30 minutes. Batum, Kemba, and Lin get ~30 mins and rotate in and out of bench lineup for rest. Kaminsky probably needs more minutes and is showing really great potential. Lamb stays with bench, can get more minutes if on point that game. but mostly he only needs to play 15 mins seems lost too often.

  • TTNN

with AI back, Kaminsky playing good, I hope Williams could spend a bit more time at SF, thus coach don’t play PJ in that second team, I really don’t like him in that line up.

Last game when Kemba is not playing in the second line up, PJ was there, messed up a lot of defensive switches, and really kind of hindering that group’s offense and defense. I like the defensive pair of the two Jeremys. Lamb plays better defense together with Lin.

  • Spot

    The optimistic post

  • I was shocked to see Kemba shooting 13% 3FG (3-23) in the past 5 games.
Batum didn’t shoot much better at 27% (6-22)

Prior that, he was shooting well 58% 3FG (7-12) in the BOS & MEM games.
I think defense has covered Kemba and Batum 3pt shooting so they shot poorly.

There’s no answer to go inside so they kept shooting.
For comparison, JLin has shot quite well 40% 3FG (6-15) in the past 5 games.
He didn’t force them but can go inside effectively.

  • Spot

    Without plays for him

  • 1mtoldman

also pj’s got “steph curry disease” afflicted with 3pt itis. in the last 5 games he’s been shooting like twice as many 3’s as he was previously in the season.

he’s become a volume 3 point shooter. hes not that good a shooter.

  • TTNN

My dream line up is still Lin start as PG, and Kemba as back up PG, but that will not happen for a while, so I don’t really care whether Lin start as SG or not, as long as Lin got to finish.

Now my dream starting line up is Lin/Batum/Kaminsky/AI with some kind of wing, ideally not PJ. 🙂 Williams would be good. But that most likely won’t happen for a while, but I don’t mind that line up with Lamb as second team, looks like will happen tonight. 🙂

  • 1mtoldman

yer not paying attnetion here mr. mod. this material has been covered in detail by not only myself but several others. previously in earlier threads.

lins been the best player statistically clearly for the last 5 games, 6 games. unforuatnely for the hornets that has coincided with the decline (or regression to the norm) of batum/walker.

but yeah can’t report enuf the contrast between the major uptick in lins production recently vs. the major downturn in that of the appointed “cornerstones” batum/walker.

  • TTNN

I think Kemba and Batum settled for 3s too much, plus that starting line up had no inside game. No one drives even. Coach mentioned that Batum could post up, but he just can’t and doesn’t, even he might have size advantage, but I never saw Batum post anyone up. I don’t think that’s part of his game. Livngston could do that. I don’t think just because you have size advantage, one could do that.

  • TTNN

I do think Kemba’s game got hurt a little bit without AI there. Kemba could not really run an offense, but he could easily dump the ball to AI and get inside game going by rely on AI. Now there is no inside presence in the first team, it would rely on him to do something, and he end up taking more contested shots.

  • wu kong

Lin starting should happen if they want to make it to playoffs. but they might make it is they would just play Lin 30 minutes and dial Kemba back so JLin has some time to be the PG. I like Williams. seems to quietly make a big difference no matter the lineup. I kept thinking the Cody and PJ minutes were about showcasing them for possible trades… nothing else has any logic to it. both have very poor stats

  • Batum is definitely more like a slasher and cutter than a post-up guy.

I worry the Hornets are trying to make Batum more than his natural ability as an SF

  • Acbc

They just need to give Lin 25minutes as PG on second unit with out Kemba or Batum and they’d win 80%of games.

  • HY C

    has anyone ever seen this?

  • 1mtoldman

blake griffin out for 2 weeks.

  • tom

    seriously….

  • GoJLin!

I like the ideal of Lin play ~30 min; out of 28 games, when Lin play >25 min (14 games), he averaged 14.4 Pts, 3.4 Ast; when Lin play >30 min (5 games), he averaged 18.0 Pts, 3.8 Ast. And from last 6 games, he has 4 games > 30 min; Hope continue this train, Lin will get better stats for his next contract. Wish JLIN stay Healthy & be happy!

  • haha.. maybe I missed some discussion.
I knew Kemba and Batum are in slump but they keep shooting despite missing is another level

I’d like to see how desperate Clifford gets with 3-4 more losses

  • same starting lineup as expected
let’s hope they’re not down 10pts quickly (since the Grizz is slow)

    https://twitter.com/StephanieReady/status/680891532732403714

  • 1mtoldman

    seriously.

The Clippers’ field goal percentage, 3-point percentage and rebound percentage without Griffin would rank worst in the NBA.

  • NONONO

If Hornets really wants to win – Put Lin in PG position for 25 mins. The most strange thing in the last game was that Clifford put Kemba to play PG with BF1 in the second. it was a disaster.

  • NONONO

i was glad Clifford put Lin in earlier in 1st quarter last game. But it was the worst decision he insert Kemba into BF1 in the second quarter to play PG. It was the first time we seen BF1 so ineffective.

  • 1mtoldman

well clifford doesn’t matter what matters is how desperate the fo gets. cliffords just a low level employee. nba coaches (other than pop) and especially at the hornets are like bugs bunny; hare 2day gone 2moro.

  • 1mtoldman

    lin last 5 games: 33.4 minutes/ 16.6. pts/ 4.4. rebs. /4.6 assists/ 12.1 fga’s/ 475. fg%/400. 3pt. %.

  • JoeTeam
  • JoeTeam

looks like a fancy prix fixe menu and I think I’ll go for the a la carte …

  • 1mtoldman

any lin hair du jour sighting yet?

  • heart

Spiked hair which I like. He looks tough and comfortable!

  • Acbc

    Smh stupidity

  • CaliUSMC

Lol Al Jefferson sounds so country

  • 1mtoldman

from the terms of his suspension charlie daniels country.

  • JoeTeam

yeeeup! He’s still bitter, by his comments on-air. I tried to shake his hand once at a game going for some supportive comment, but he just waived me off, no big deal. He was not broadcasting at the time, I was just walking by so anyway, busy not an excuse. Just saying a fan reaching out to shake his hand didn’t matter to him at that moment. I still think he did ok to bring the team up, given he was there when they acquired and integrated a lot of players.

  • wu kong

sounds like home to me… I’m from Mississippi 🙂

  • LinMad

To win this game we just need to push the pace

  • LinMad

we always get killed by PnR unless Lin is in there

  • LinMad

Looks like Al might be playing with Lin instead of Hawes

  • LinMad

    Kemba feeling it today

  • LinMad

Batum’s lazy pass..he needs to work on his handles

  • 2 times already

  • LinMad

they are shooting the 3 well tho

  • LinMad

im surprised we’re only up by 5 making all these 3 pters

  • JJ Hui

    Nb TO machine, no kidding!

  • Alain Gervais

    those threes are ridiculous

  • 808JL7

JLin coming in. Let’s have a great game.

  • LinMad

live and die by the 3?

  • Guest

    Home cooking improved hornets shooting

  • LinMad

    home cooking? what?

  • heart

Lin is in but why KW still PG?

  • LinMad

    cause Kemba

  • CJSHYY

KW will finish 1Q as usual. smh!

  • occupatio

    because

  • Alain Gervais

    our defense is still trash

  • Grizzlies killer if they fall in

  • LinMad

agreed we let them score 80% from 3, luckily we’re shooting 88% from 3

  • 808JL7

Cause Kemba didn’t get enough Allstar votes.

  • heart

Memphis was defending the paint gives much space for open three for Hornets according to Griz announcer.

  • LinMad

refs better treat Lin right today

  • occupatio

    or else what? nothing.

  • LinMad

    I’mma put them on blast

  • Alain Gervais

    kemba playing matador defense

  • Chalmers went by Kemba like it’s a practice layup *sigh*

  • LinMad

I don’t like what I see with this unit. Frank looks like shooting option 1 now. Lin is just a 3&D like usual but he’s like 4th option to shoot. Kemba is PG.

  • occupatio

    hes been very lazy lately

  • NONONO

Cliff got to let Lin play PG with BF1. Do not let Kemba to mess it up.

  • it’s no longer BF1

  • NONONO

let is why people said he is hurting Lin

  • LinMad

why is Lamb facilitating more than Lin? Longer arms does not mean better facilitator

  • those 40+min might just do it

  • cshot

why are you playing kemba so much lol

  • NONONO

    Kemba + BF1 = Kemba Force 1.

  • Alain Gervais

al slowing down the bench. Lin not really involved at all.

  • occupatio

looks like cliff said something to kemba bc kemba is more active on D now

  • cdblue10

Again Kemba was just being killed by guards

  • occupatio

the reason why lin was able to pass to Al for FTs is bc lin was able to bring the ball up the court. rare.

otherwise, the grizzlies are trying to trap the pick and rolls.

  • occupatio

its the 1st qurater. no excuse.

and its been like this for the last 3 games or so.

  • occupatio

he still gets 40 min a game no matter what.

  • occupatio

finally kemba is out. tired of seeing him.

  • cdblue10

    Lol…you’re right

  • NONONO

Cliff’s goal is taking ball out of Lin’s hands.

  • LinMad

    flagrant?

  • LinMad

    good ball movement

  • Lin assist to Frank 3

  • occupatio

    lin and his FTs. smh

  • Lin drew offensive foul on Randoplh

  • occupatio

lin is so effective when he gets drag screens in transition

  • LinMad

Lin can facilitate. Just trust him more coach.

  • cdblue10

That’s what happen if Lin was facilitating the ball

  • Lin 2nd assist to Batum 3

  • yes, Lin/Batum works when Lin is the PG

Kemba + BF1 is not good at all

  • LinMad

I’m happy that coach is letting Lin facilitate even though Nic is in. Nic should be shooting more. Just set up and shoot.

  • JJ Hui

Used to be KW sit at the end of first quarter and Lin is PG from then on to the second quater before KW came back in again.
I hope KW sit longer or else he will comes in and choke the whole game.

  • yup, that’s a good natural PG, SF connection if politics don’t get in the way

  • TTNN

Batum actually score more when Lin is facilitating.

  • Epie

Just curios, when Batum runs with a ball, why is he so slow?

  • LinMad

    cause he’s not a guard

  • cdblue10

Lin and batum is a scary back court if Cliff will allow this 2 to play the right way because both of them are 2 way guards that can facilitate and defend w/ good lenghth on defense

  • sws94

Kemba doesn’t need to be in so much. Lin looks good running the offense tonight (usually does).

  • LinMad

    gasol killin us

  • cshot

    had a 5 on 4. why timeout?

  • sport

Is that why Lin was mad after that timeout?

  • Alain Gervais

our pnr defense have been terrible. pig’s on a island. i apologize to kemba. our bigs are doing a poor job lately

  • cshot

pretty sure. he was pushing the pace and coach stopped everything lol

  • occupatio

    i was thinking same

  • cshot

im not liking big al coming back lol

  • CJSHYY

W Al, 2nd unit seems to be slow… not good.

  • LinMad

is it just me or does Lin always play with a bunch of different lineups every game?

  • JT

fml, hornets trending down and rox going up

  • LinMad

Lin makes it look easy to get the basket. Too bad his layup missed

  • Batum assist to Lin 3333333!!!

  • LinMad

    33333333

  • LinMad

    Lin out already?

  • cshot

lol lin out after hitting a 3

  • Epie

    Yup because he made 3pt.

  • JoeTeam

wanted him to make that …

  • sport

Lin was finally getting going with that 3 and then he was pulled.

  • cshot

    get lamb outta there lol

  • LinMad

    this is very interesting politics…

  • cdblue10

    He’ll come back for Lamb

  • tom

Back to Lamb 6th man now?

  • LinMad

I guess Lin is going back to 17 minutes a game.

  • Tim Pham

damnit. back to the 18-20 min games, sigh.

  • JJ Hui

This coach is either stupid or toxic, right after Lin make a 3, sit him down n break his rhytum! I hate him!

  • sport

That was a wide open layup how could he miss that? Could have 6 points right now.

  • LinMad

If coach gonna play Lin like this, Lin should be shooting with every touch he gets.

  • Tim Pham

pecking order, sucks. lin will never be over walker batum and even lamb due to contracts, politics, etc. we can only hope someone gets injured ( not trying to be mean), just truth for lin to get minutes

  • redking79

Lin needs to convince his agent to create a trade to the Knicks. He won’t be used enough on the Hornets.

  • cdblue10

Zeller is just a head scratcher on defense

  • JoeTeam

    Tyler H!

  • Tim Pham

add now that kaminsky is playing and shooting more…less minutes, less shots, less opportunities. it is what it is.

  • JoeTeam

ha ha foul in 2 sec.

  • LinMad

    that was acting

  • JJ Hui

But while Lin is hot, let
Lin have two more min will
Make Coach Clifford go to H?

  • aras

good production from Lin so far he has played good missed an easy layup and a freethrow but other than that he has been ace on both sides.

  • In the Celtics game, Lin rested from 7min to 4min mark in Q2
Let’s see if he comes back at all in Q2

Maybe only if Lamb blows D assignment

  • Tim Pham

    yeah, sucks. sigh.

  • heart

The subbing is maddening! The entire stretch that Lin was in he had no screens, no PnR, just feeding to the bigs for 3s and post.

  • LinMad

they caught up ever since Lin came out

  • tom

    Nope PJ coming in

  • LinMad

coach wants to make this game harder on Lin lol

  • cdblue10

I thought he just gave him a short breather but I guessed he’ll sit him for the remaining time in 2nd Q.Here you go,NVM.

  • LinMad

its amazing how coach would try to fix something that wasn’t broken. When Lin was in we were doing fine. Now we are down and Lin is back in…

  • JoeTeam

    Ha ha JLinin what’s this

  • Alain Gervais

i really don’t get why lamb was in

  • tom

    PJ 3 fouls

  • JoeTeam

hansborough is going to foul out in 5 mins wha.

  • tom

    21mil investment

  • occupatio

pj has to basically foul out for lin to get minutes hehe

  • redking79

That’s about average for him haha.

  • JoeTeam

tyler playing with heart but outta control. He just slapped that reb out of bounds on Batum.

  • Alain Gervais

charlotte needs to trade al and get someone who actually fits their style

  • JoeTeam

there is no H during Christmas season, JJ lol.

  • tom

So they drop last 5 of 6
Clifford’s fix is to limit Lin’s mins and more of Lamb and PJ hmmmmm
Back to being a Clifford hater now

  • Briiick

Professional jealousy about Lin’s votes. I has seen it in Rox before.

  • LinMad

This was bad coaching. Lin hits 3, gets benched for no reason. Brings in Kemba and now we’re in foul trouble and the lead has been erased. Should Lin even be trying?

  • JoeTeam

I agree, this was a coaching wth?

  • sport

    trying for his stats yes.

  • Briiick

Let KW lose the game, it would be healthier.

  • BobbyH

Nic mini-post up, ignoring open Lin, ended a missed layup

  • LinMad

he did ignore Lin lol he usually does that when Kemba is on the floor

  • JJ Hui

KW didnt pass to Lin eventhough Lin is open, so the coach wants Lin as SG, i say BS!

  • LinMad

    PJ 4 fouls now

  • JoeTeam

I want Mem to get PJ to foul out because Cliff is obviously confused by a bench option.

  • LinMad

This team is singling out the Harvard player cause they’re all Tarheels lol

  • Hairston gives fouls like Santa gives gifts
    4 fouls already

  • redking79

    ZBo is a beast.

  • JoeTeam

    That reb was Lin.

  • redking79

Lin slapped the ball away nicely.

  • JJ Hui

The referee is BS, seeing Randolph pushed people down and no whistle!

  • What a great deflection by Lin to prevent offensive rebound

  • occupatio

team was looking good until kemba came back in.

  • Alain Gervais

grizzly have made this game in their style. we will lose at this pace

  • JoeTeam

this, no doubt. And we see this 2nd quarter every game when Lin’s 2nd unit gives it back to KW.

  • LinMad

they finally passed it to Lin and Lin being unselfish passed to an opened Al

  • sport

Memphis can push people down and throw elbows with no fouls!

  • I call Kemba ISO for final shot

  • cshot

    tunnel vision.

  • sport

THis team is such BS, Lin is entirely iced out!!

  • yes.. foul not called

  • redking79

That last play of the half was ugly. Does KW really need to be the main guy??

  • JoeTeam

jefferson, KW, what a comedy of errors. JLin so wide open he;s just hanging out at mid court doing his nails.

  • occupatio

lin touches the ball once and creates an open jumper for teammate.

  • Alain Gervais

why did datum get 20 minutes the first haif

  • LinMad

disaster coaching. icing of Lin. = tie game/foul trouble

  • i think they don’t mind pj fouling a lot since they don’t mind not having in the late game.

  • Tim Pham

lin is in the game but getting as much action as sitting in the bench. sigh.

  • tom

    #TheFuture

  • cdblue10

hahaha…This coach is no idea who’s his best creator and finisher on last seconds shots,Kemba just doesn’t have it,give up already coach!

  • JoeTeam

disasters are usually surprises. This is just like the last set of games since TOR.

  • occupatio

kemba is garbage. on both ends of the court. not much more to say.

  • KL

So if Hairston is there to defend so that Batum does not need to defend, does it mean Lin is there to defend so Walker does not need to defend? Smh.

  • BobbyH

Does Lin have a future with Hornets if Kemba and Nic keep hogging the ball, ignoring open teammates, letting Lin standing in the corner?

  • tom

Lin wouldnt have come back in had PJ not picked up 3rd foul
Clifford is trying to go away from Lin again after losing the last 4 of 6
Is this really a good coach? lol

  • the problem with this team is Lin tries to encourage ball movement
but only Marvin, Frank and Batum sometimes do it

  • LinMad

I’m pretty sure Lin will be leaving after this season.

  • tom

    Nope

  • cdblue10

    Clueless organization

  • Alain Gervais

the choice to put Al on the bench is disastrous and making datum and kemba play with them really destroys the point of having depth. Lamb and Lin just stood in the corner.

  • John Focker

    Standing Guard.

  • Epie

I really tried to like Kemba.

  • heart

Bad coaching! Took out the rhythm of his own players not only Lin but Lamb also. Messing up chemistry of 2nd unit. No rhyme or reason to allow NB and KW playing PG in both units.

  • zxcvb

    Feels like another loss.

Batum is playing for his stats and freezing Lin out. CHA bigs are way too soft inside.

  • Briiick

    BS: I really do.

  • tom

Batum? nooo he only passes to get assists or avoid TOs
Frank? barely always looking to get his

  • LinMad

so he is blaming Lin for the losses when Lin was still a corner guy the past few games. The only time he was NOT the corner guy was that game against Toronto where he scored 35 pts. IMO, it doesn’t matter how much minutes Lin gets. He needs to be the go to guy for this team to win.

  • occupatio

    yep.
and sws will say this will teach lin how to be a better player.

  • tom

    It doesnt matter I guess

  • Batum can find Lin an open 3 like he did earlier early in the clock
Frank is learning but he’s willing, lately he tries to shoot more

  • 1mtoldman

    gasol killing them

  • Promo Sports World

Team should look At tapes of Spurs games and adopt that approach can’t hurt

  • cdblue10

5 more losses and he will lead the 76’ers chant

  • occupatio

asking hornets to do spurs things. haha. kobe comment about dogs, cats, barking is appropriate here.

  • LinMad

Jeremy Lin is 8th spot in All Star

    Guards

    1 Dwyane Wade (Mia) 300,595
    2 Kyrie Irving (Cle) 138,191
    3 Kyle Lowry (Tor) 128,131
    4 Jimmy Butler (Chi) 111,220
    5 John Wall (Was) 103,094
    6 Derrick Rose (Chi) 72,709
    7 DeMar DeRozan (Tor) 69,042
    8 Jeremy Lin (Cha) 61,832
    9 Isaiah Thomas (Bos) 45,014
    10 Nicolas Batum (Cha) 20,596

  • NONONO

Same old stories. It is just horrible.

  • BobbyH

Politics first, team ball next after all agenda satisfied.

  • 1mtoldman

jefferson, kaminsky, hansborough, zeller 8 pts 10 fouls 3 of 10 shooting.

    besides gasol destroying them inside.

  • KL

Teamball can be contagious but selfish ball is also contagious.

  • CaliUSMC

I lived in Mississp for awhile. Meridian!

  • Briiick

    Yeah, that’s the idea.

  • heart

So does anybody still doubt about Hornets are trying to get stats for NB and KW for All-Star Coach vote?

  • occupatio

this charlotte commercial-break entertainment is quite bad.

  • LinMad

its funny cause their biggest bet should be on Lin. But they ice him out from jealousy.

  • NONONO

always so cheap. i think Hornets’ main commercial sponsor is an unknown cleaning related company.

  • 1mtoldman

juggling josh? red panda? dunking mascots? baby races?

  • Briiick

Jealousy from the top brains as well.

  • JJ Hui

The Hornets’ dumb coach and the evil referee make a L for this game! The coach is repeating the remarkable coaching, bench the hot guy!

  • LinMad

If you guys haven’t voted yet, vote for Lin here. He is currently 8th spot:

    http://vote.nba.com/

  • 1mtoldman

hes really being badly iced this game. worse than normal. probably cause they know hes’ been the only player putting up good numbers in loses lately

  • heart

    Hahaha, true and funny too!

  • occupatio

    still dont believe it.

  • LinMad

I swear maybe when Lin makes all star some coaches will actually take him seriously and also the refs will give him Harden like whistles lol

  • heart

Your choice. But the proof is in the pudding!

  • sws94

I’m not so sure about that. He’s not going away from Lin but he’s playing Kemba too much.

  • NONONO

I am surprised they did not promote AL.

  • occupatio

i see proof that team is stupid.

  • Briiick

The best counter to Hornets’ marginalization of their best player to to vote him even higher than the chosen stat padders.

  • cdblue10

Are they really padding their stats?

  • sws94

If Al wasn’t rusty he’d have knocked it down. Al is rusty but the Lin/Al game looked good. Lin has gotten Al good looks.

  • TK Wong

too obvious – NB and KW keep looking off JLIN even when Lin has the most wide-open shot. They keep swinging the ball to side opposite of where JLIN is. Coaching to blame too. Not even good basketball … “superstars” want Lin to feed and trust them but they don’t reciprocate. Don’t see the best teams like Spurs, GS, or Cavaliers play this way. Oh well smh.

  • JoeTeam

a little halftime chatter: so 3 yrs ago, over holiday dinner, my chinese friend said Lin was just top 25, but now I know he has LP just to watch Lin. Yet another friend in same group said last week, no, definitely not top 10. Resistance is futile, I will convert him over time …

  • Briiick

That is obvious because they have taken other offensive players out of the 1st unit to stat pad KW and Batum.

  • JJ Hui

Also KW not in the top 10 All star vote! So he iced Lin as much as possible, i guess!

  • occupatio

i have Reborn4HD stream now. they show all the shootaround during halftime. instead of the low budget halftime programming.

  • JoeTeam

it’s redic how JLin sands about 5 ft behind the 3 so open for an off dribble 3. Lin, GSW, SAS do those kick outs for an uncontested 3, why don’t Batum and KW do it? I know, no need to answer, doesn’t matter.

  • LinMad

thanks to Lin fans and Hornets fans who like Lin

  • heart

Yep. If you listen to the Hornets narrative. It’s being parroted in the opponent media also. They’re promoting NB and KW to All-Star talking about these stats. Remember, if they can’t be voted in by fans, then Coaches can vote them in and use their stats to justify for their selection.

  • Guest

Kemba is equally bad as Kobe given action on court can be even more damagng to Lin’s career..smh

  • JJ Hui

The coach after his extension is not the same person anymore! KW and NB are his bread and butter now!

  • Brewkowski

Not watching the game but box scores look good, Kemba is shooting at high percentage (3 out of 5) and 6 assists in 1 half but 2 TOs. Batum’s numbers also look good.

  • LinMad

    Batum’s facilitating = turnovers

  • LinMad

    Grizz are scoring easily now.

  • heart

Hornets were promoting AJ, but he made mistakes w/the drug suspension. It maybe too embarrassing for them, and he might not be w/Hornets for next season. However, things can change if AJ helps them win soon…We’ll see.

  • LinMad

    Zeller doing a lot

  • occupatio

lol charlotte starters in 3Q. its like throwing salt in my eyes.

  • cdblue10

Too bad because I thought they’re just bad players that tries to score points and just can’t deliver because there’s nothing special on both of them.

  • JoeTeam

well, now put Lin in to seal the separation, please.

  • GoJLin!

Yes, and currently vote LIN everyday!

  • cshot

lol why do you not pass to lin batum? pj must have bought him dinner

  • LinMad

if starters weren’t so hot from 3, we would have been blown out already

  • for all his fouls, p.j. is 5/5, 4/4 from 3pt… credit to where credit is due.

  • Guest

Hornets are loosing the battle of the boards.

  • JoeTeam

ugly as this game is, I wanna see Buzz win.

  • heart

Mos of his 3s are open bc Griz allows it. But you’re right, he’s taking advantage of his opportunity and Griz paid for it. However, Cliff allows him PT so he’s in rhythm.

  • LinMad

    Kemba getting abused

  • adele

Did you see the billboard vote for Kemba?

  • LinMad

we’re either going to live by the 3 or die by it. Jeremy Lin needs to go in slashing and driving to the basket.

  • occupatio

when kemba gets burned on D, he starts heroballing even more. its always like that

  • occupatio

it would be tuff to be a grizz fan. their offense is so stagnant

  • sport

Seen enough, everything is back to icing out Lin and limited minutes again. done.

  • Alain Gervais

and like that a 4 point game

  • cdblue10

Kemba is just eating a lot of basketball

  • LinMad

    Lin coming in

  • JoeTeam

this team is not good … the 10 pt up was streaky and lucky, and I saw at least 2 really bad TOVs by MEM.

  • LinMad

Lin seems to come in when they’re in trouble and taken out when leading with a good enough cushion

  • cdblue10

Lucky because their highest pointer is hairston

  • Alain Gervais

    ugly ball out there.

  • JoeTeam

actually, I expect him in now as this is his normal 2nd half injection point.

  • LinMad

ya they have to make the 3 if they want to lead otherwise they will trail. And everyone knows you can’t rely on the 3 that much unless you’re Curry.

  • occupatio

you only think that bc the starters are usually in trouble

  • LinMad

but he was taken out earlier than usual in the first half after making a 3

  • CJSHYY

That’s the way it’s. But I saw Al too. smh!

  • occupatio

kemba has already played twice as much as lin.

  • Alain Gervais

    definitely didn’t miss al

  • cshot

    sit kemba you incompetent coach

  • JoeTeam

he’s in but just doing the Iggy or Danny Green.

  • cdblue10

Conley is just toying on Kemba…take him out

  • Alain Gervais

    we are playing so ugly

  • adele

At the end of the first quarter the announcer said they got the lead because of Kemba

  • cdblue10

Just shoot all the positions that you can get Lin

  • KL

Lin not getting enough minutes without Kemba. Bench Force 1 has been broken up.

  • occupatio

its been like that for 3-4 games in case anyone hasnt noticed

  • Briiick

Yeah. The Hornets’ top bains who support KW won’t let the comparison continue. In fact this is almost like the replay from Rox.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Too bad. No more good 2nd unit now.

  • LinMad

Can Kemba sit yet so Lin can be PG?

  • JoeTeam

and those buzzer plays, they are just so poorly executed.

  • Alain Gervais

Cliff made really the dumbest choice putting Al with the bench

  • cshot

jeremy is going to lose a lot of touches now that al is back. its annoying

  • occupatio

not a good pass by lin. should have shot it

  • LinMad

this has been so ugly. Why is Kemba PG for BF1? Why is Al in to slow the pace down? It’s like they are doing everything to screw up Lin.

  • JoeTeam

ok, y’all What say Lin gets 10 mins this Q? KW sits, Lin handles for 6 mins and takes CHA up 13, then plays D and we win by 1. lol.

  • LinMad

i don’t care, this coach deserves these ugly plays.

  • JoeTeam

agree, poor execution all the way around.

  • Alain Gervais

    assumption assumption

  • LinMad

don’t think it will happen. Probably will sit Lin half the qtr cause he’s out of rhythm.

  • JoeTeam

yep, just hoping else I’d have to turn this off.

  • cdblue10

    5 mins this Q

  • NONONO

Kemba has been taking Lin’s PG minutes away from BF1 for the past two games.

  • Briiick

So that he can ice anyone who is taking the spotlight from him.

  • aras

aaaaaah not those kind of to Lin damn

  • LinMad

I like how Kemba has been passing to Lin but can Lin play PG or do anything with it if no one is out there to set screens? We can repalce Kemba with someone else and Lin would have more options.

  • occupatio

lin had his chances this quarter. wasnt productive with them tho.

  • cshot

grabbing jerseys and picking up fouls. slowing down game = al

  • LinMad

No one wants to respect Lin as PG. We see Lamb making turnovers cause he’s trying to facilitate too.

  • BobbyH

    Everyone is playing selfish now.

  • LinMad

Lamb is afraid to pass the ball cause he will lose it lol

  • LinMad

    Let Lin be PG.

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin out

  • cshot

    i knew it

  • Alain Gervais

    Game over

  • LinMad

Kemba back in for Lin lol

  • cdblue10

    NOt even 5 mins…LOL

  • Brewkowski

    why? foul? turnover?

  • Alain Gervais

    Cliff is a weird coach.

  • Promo Sports World

Coach has no real way to play with Al….team has Xmas hangover

  • cdblue10

    A clueless coach

  • Promo Sports World

Mid-level coach probably a better assistant

  • LinMad

he loves to blame Lin for his own mistakes

  • LinMad

Lets just ice out Lin when he was playing well then stick him in with a unit where he can’t do anything and then take him out for missing shots.

  • it feels like, for all his practicing, lin’s shooting % has not increased.

  • Promo Sports World

I don’t think he blames Lin for anything….his shortcomings is that he comes from the Jeff can Gundy pedigree which is slow footed ball

  • Alain Gervais

i don’t get cliff nor his lineups or his timing. The team is sinking and he takes the player playing the best the last 5 games and plays him with weird lineups and plays him less. of all the things to change the bench wasn’t the problem

  • LinMad

in the past 5 games he was shooting well. This game was just ugly and I kind of blame the coach for his horrible 2nd unit lineup and icing of Lin.

  • JoeTeam

he’s not out of rhythm, … this offense just out of control with AJ back and the mix of KW on the 2nd unit, etc.

  • Alain Gervais

    who knows.

  • occupatio

5 FGA tonight. not much to generalize from

  • JoeTeam

    AJ was so bad tonight.

  • LinMad

maybe he should DNP Lin a few games and see what the real problem is. I mean it’s all in the stat sheets. Lin has been the best player on the floor. He makes everyone play well when hes on the floor. But this coach is still experimenting like it’s preseason.

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin back

  • NONONO

    Cliff is worse.

  • i’m actually thinking about the whole season.

  • Promo Sports World

He is not that good of a coach man….and it ain’t getting better with pat Ewing either….they need some new blood

  • JoeTeam

AJ was disruptive, I would say.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin becomes the victim of Jefferson rehabilitation program.

  • JoeTeam

so weird, this rotation prob because AJ out.

  • Promo Sports World

    That’s it right here folks

  • Alain Gervais

    2 ft

  • Briiick

There is something worse than losing if you are a fan of KW, and the top brain of Hornets is the biggest fan of KW, LOL.

  • cdblue10

this is gonna be a good come back

  • Promo Sports World

He coaches almost like this is the 90s….the coach needs to realize the era he is in….that means bench Al

  • LinMad

I don’t understand why coach benched Lin for like 1 minute? Does he think Lin has a reset button?

  • Alain Gervais

    refs

  • Alain Gervais

    rest i guess

  • occupatio

i see. well, there was gonna be adjustment period for new form. its taken longer than i thought it would, yeah

  • Alain Gervais

This lineup is our best please play them more. no more al

  • LinMad

lol he just came in though.

  • tom

Damn Kaminski pass the ball you donkey

  • JoeTeam

I wanted him to give it to Lin too.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hornets will have to win this game on FT line.

  • LinMad

Al fouled out so he can’t play anymore

  • Alain Gervais

    33333333333

  • Promo Sports World

James Harden strategy in full effect

  • Alain Gervais

    lol

  • JoeTeam

    I’m grateful.

  • Promo Sports World

    Bang

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Bingo game tied. Old Jeff is gone. Old Lin is back.

  • yeah… he works so hard on it… i hope he’s not adjusting it throughout the rest of his career. he’s been working on it for years…

  • KL

Mr 4th quarter just showed up

  • great!

  • cdblue10

333333.BIG DIFFERENCE MAKER ON THE 4TH SO FAR

  • JoeTeam

JLin is warming up, and the team has been trying to get it to him too, except when Kam played PG himself.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I have sympathy on Lamb playing with Old Jeff.

  • LinMad

Cliff better not sit Lin out now like he did in 1st half. Oh Lin made a 3, Imma sit him down now.

  • cdblue10

Can’t blame him,he needs to take care of his future too.

  • Promo Sports World

All is a good player too….it’s just that the league has evolved it’s tough

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Old Jeff has a horrific -16 in +/-

  • byron scott might do that, but i don’t thik cliff is it that level.

  • LinMad

Al belongs in 1st unit not 2nd unit. 2nd unit likes to run. 1st unit there are already slow players like Batum.

  • heart

Even Griz commentators questioned that TO call at the 3 line. Lin should have had 3FTs.

  • Promo Sports World

Doesn’t even fit with them either

  • occupatio

    stephanie ready said he traveled

  • LinMad

These bigs do not set screens. Cliff had to yell it.

  • Lin Win

    It’s an obvious travel.

  • heart

Nope. Griz commentator said that call was questionable. Lin was in shooting motion.

  • Lin Win

No! He moved his right foot

  • cdblue10

Fck no shooting motion but the refs decided to give him FT’s…LOL

  • heart

in the air in shooting motion.

  • LinMad

nice to see Lin signs in the crowd

  • occupatio

    lol refs thats just unreal.

  • LinMad

what is? I feel like my feed is delayed

  • cdblue10

Kemba is actually trying to be PG this 4Q

  • Lin Win

Lin held onto the ball man! That’s basketball 101.

  • occupatio

    conley Fts

  • JJ Hui

i am so worry sbout KW TO during crucial point!

  • cdblue10

    Hahahaha..eat that Grizz

  • Alain Gervais

don’t think he got that shot

  • Lin Win

I will always hate Frank because of his dumb 3s

  • Alain Gervais

I wanna look at lins shot idk if it counted

  • LinMad

    Nice

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Batum and Walker is going to share the ball with their triple triple and doubles hanging

  • CaliUSMC

How many pts Lin got this quarter??????

  • LinMad

ya idk if he got it either but it did look like a foul

  • cdblue10

Kemba doesn’t want to be out shined but good decision to take that all the way.

  • LinMad

can they review it if it isn’t under 2 minutes?

  • Alain Gervais

    yea

  • aras

did lin get it of in time?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    5 pts

  • GoJLin!

7 pts, oh, no, they took out that 2 points

  • Alain Gervais

I think it was in Lins hands. It will be close

  • cshot

    don’t know yet

  • Alain Gervais

    Lin didn’t get the shot

  • LinMad

Lin didn’t get it in time. He went from 11 pts to 9 pts

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Looking forward to assist from Batum to Lin. Tony Allen fouls out

  • heart

Lin was in shooting motion according to Griz Commentator! The opponent commentator is usually the one defends Lin I see…

  • LinMad

Lin only had 4 seconds to shoot, they need to give him the ball earlier

  • JoeTeam

on Lin’s layup, I think Lin was mad no call.

  • LinMad

bad TO at crucial time. What was the plan?

  • Alain Gervais

    it happens

  • LinMad

bad foul, hopefully he miss one shot

  • JoeTeam

no plan no time, he had to pull up to shoot to make that work. Broken play.

  • Lin Win

    Damn bad TO by Lin

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Good D to limit Grizzles in one shot most of the time.

  • occupatio

when lin uses screen, they give him the shot but he doesnt take it.

  • LinMad

just need to run the clock down, keep the ball in someone’s hands who can shoot fts

  • Alain Gervais

yea i think he held the ball too long twice.

  • JoeTeam

v good D on Gasol he’s been ineffective for a long spell. Zack getting his though.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

You need no TO to know that from here on is KW all the way.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    KW ball all they way。

  • Promo Sports World

Still getting strong mins….we really need to see the positives….he is getting playing time

  • Lin Win

See ! Freethrows wins games !
    Mem 11-21
    Hornets 23-27

  • LinMad

    not over yet

  • tom

good thing im not a Kaminski fan

  • JoeTeam

Tell that to LeBron, yesterday missed 3 of 4 on 2 sets to pull CLE within 1 possession.

  • cdblue10

I’ll gave it to Kemba,he actually played a control game today.

  • sport

Batum and Walker got 39 minutes! Lin only got 27 that’s not strong mins and most of the time he was iced out by teammates.

  • LinMad

BF1 wasn’t good today cause Al was injected in. Even Lamb got 0 pts. Also I feel that KW was playing PG cause Lin wasn’t experienced with Al like Kemba was.

  • occupatio

    yes.
lin’s decision making tonight was poor in 2nd half

  • JoeTeam

with KW leading it too. Too many chiefs.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Of course, -16!

  • Lin Win

He’s a choker. He’s only called “clutch” to market himself.

  • cdblue10

Lin still impacted the 4Q though but overall he has a so so night

  • JoeTeam

    cool. give Lin some stats.

  • LinMad

    phew!

  • Alain Gervais

    2 ft clutch

  • JoeTeam

sealed! By Lin. KW gets cred.

  • aras

    Kemba deserves it

  • LinMad

I like how they pan to some random asian girl after that shot

  • tom

    YES another double digit game!

  • PHEW! Redemption after those missed free throws the other game.

  • heart

Saw Lin sister-in-law on stand cheering after those last 2 FTs.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin must make this 2 possession game and get his 11th point.

  • LinMad

oh that was his sister in law

  • Promo Sports World

    Remember LA

  • Lin Win

PHEW Lin made a pair !

  • cdblue10

still have the chance to pad his stats.lol

  • golfhacker

It’s comments like yours that give Lin fans a bad name. Kemba did enough to get credit.

  • LinMad

    yay antoher 2 fts

  • sport

    More FTs for Lin yes!

  • BobbyH

    Great. More Freebies

  • JoeTeam

Love the stats … 1 Reb, 2 more FTs. JLin just made his game last 20 sec.

  • And Houston just lost to NO…

  • Alain Gervais

went from an ok game to a good game in no time lol

  • LinMad

    Lin did his part lol

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Thx to Clifford; stays with Lin.

  • occupatio

lin has more FT attempts than FG attempts

  • Alain Gervais

Lamb had 0 points 15 minutes

  • JoeTeam

Kw won it, JLin sealed it under pressure. 2x.

  • KL

13 points 5 rebounds 3 assist. Decent looking box score stats.

  • LinMad

There’s no excuse for Lin to have more rebounds than Frank.

  • Lin Win

Well finally Lin makes 4 clutch FTs!
    Not bad! Not bad!

  • cshot

lol the point guards with 6 and 5 rebounds

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Just ask you to play with a doped Jeff and play a good game. Is that possible?

  • zxcvb

    Not pretty, but gritty!

Lin played a solid two-way game with great defense (and no overhelping). Batum iced him out in the 2Q and he didn’t get his shooting rhythm (thought he passed up a couple drives in the 3Q). Hit the huge tying 3 and made the FTs to ice it.

Still don’t like how Batum seems to freeze Lin out whenever he makes a shot. Grow up, Nic. At least Kemba started passing the ball back to Lin in the 2nd half.

  • heart

    Yes.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    hate those TOs though

  • tom

gotta take it easy on the TOs
hes gettiing a lot lately gotta take care of the ball

  • BobbyH

    Rox lost to Nop.

  • LinMad

Monday’s game is gonna be the game Lin needs to be unleashed. I don’t want to see an upset.

  • Rzo Vlade

    harharhar

  • 1mtoldman

plus 1 block and 1 steal and good 3 pt and ft shootin % will make up for the bad overall shooting %

  • Promo Sports World

Jeremy is the 3rd most important guy on the hornets….Clifford trusts him more than most want to believe….getting 26-30 mins a night ain’t bad folks….Lin is better than Kemba and Batum is doing to much….still better than LA and the Rox

  • LinMad

yes I did notice Kemba tried to get Lin back in the game by passing it to him. He did miss a lot but he made that big 3.

  • LinMad

i don’t know though cause if it wasn’t for all the foul trouble would Lin get 26-30 minutes? From what I saw early I thought this was only going to be 18 minutes for Lin.

  • BobbyH

Have you noticed in 4Q, Waler/Nic began to pass to weak side?

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Batum is just 2 assists shying from a triple double.

  • Promo Sports World

Lins defense is respected by Clifford…most NBA teams go small so it works for Jeremy more nights than most

  • zxcvb

I’m convinced that when Kemba freezes Lin out sometimes, it’s because he has tunnel vision. He never was a good passer or PG. But Batum actually does have good vision and just looks Lin off, even when he’s wide-open and Batum is doubled.

  • aras

im seriously pissed at this guy i dont understand why he does not implement his wide array of skills on the offense that he has instead of always rushing in to the basket for the layup…he has a midranger he has a 3 pt he has a floater he can vary his moves but what does he do? the same move….he redeemed himself in the end but in my opinon this was a bad game for him overall…

  • JoeTeam

    … and the 4th.

  • zxcvb

Glad he didn’t get it, ha. He got his stats but they didn’t win until his role was lessened in the 4th.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Am I delighted when big Al fouled out.

  • Rzo Vlade

    troll?

  • JoeTeam

no finally, he’s been good at the line in crunch time.

  • occupatio

agree. lin needs to trust his jumper more. it was like that last game too.

there were about 3 occasions in which lin should have pulled up for a jumper instead of forcing it inside, or passing it out too late in the shot clock.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    troll troll

  • 1mtoldman

    i think big al’s still “brewer&shipleyd”

  • LinMad

maybe the bigs need to set more screens cause they are not playing like bigs. The bigs on this team are playing like they’re guards. Even Lin has more rebounds than Al and Frank. This is why Lin is playing more like a defensive player than an offensive player. We all know Lin can do it on the offense side but the lack of defense from our bigs is biggest problem. Also, the fact that they are slow at setting up plays. I always hear Cliff yelling “SCREEN” when Kemba or Lin has ball and clock already ran down like half way.

  • CaliUSMC

He’s second to last in 3pt% on this team. His jumpers are still suspect to me, so I dont mind him going to the hoop.

  • cdblue10

That too,and Clifford was actually clueless on personnel substitution

  • zxcvb

Agreed. He just didn’t have it tonight and it was hurting the team. Even healthy, he’s usually a net neutral at best.

  • tom

    His floater isnt very good
Midrange comes and goes same for 3pt
also he didnt have many open looks

  • aras

thats what im saying Lin has a midrange game use it especially against memphis or other teams with quality big men.

  • occupatio

yep. his decision making in last two games has not been sharp.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hornets made 7 more 3 pts. That is 21 pts for the game. Memphis just couldn’t win over that.

  • aras

his floater is decent and is useful against teams lik this midranger the same id rather him use his skillset than just 1

  • Kwok Wai Lai

and get fouled. He made 7 out of 8 tries on the FT line. That means he indeed get fouled three to 4 times in 7 tries.

  • LinMad

he did use a mid range jumper today and missed. When he gets desperate, he drives in cause it’s his highest converting shot. Mid range jumpers are the most inefficient shots you can make.

  • sws94

Well, some big plays by JLin and FTs but he played a little sloppy tonight. 3 in the 4th was big, would have been nice if the lay-up counted. Don’t like him not running the 2nd unit, there doesn’t seem to be a 2nd unit anymore. It’s just when Kemba isn’t on, Lin runs the point which isn’t many minutes.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

With your bigs waiting for the rebound, it’s almost like an assist.

  • sws94

    Absolutely.

  • tom

    and turns it over

  • aras

he has a decent jumper just had a bad start to it..its about using the skillset that you have to make your defender guess its predictable to do the same thing everytime especially when you have terrible big mens with terrible screens.

  • LinMad

The reason Lin driving in didn’t look good today was because Al was clogging up the lane. We all know that is his bread and butter but Al is making it more difficult on Lin.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Putting him on Lin’s back is just too much for any guards to bear.
Lamb is taken totally out of his game with big Al there.

  • tom

    about 5mins a game
Look at Lamb 0 for 3 he is the biggest victim here

  • Lin Win

20 out of the 24pts the Hornets scored in the 4th quarter came from Kemba(11) and Lin(9)

Batum can get out of the way please!

  • tom

    Also Mem plays good defense

  • Lin Win

    Not after that Houston game.

  • aras

    yeah im a troll

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Big Al only shot 1 out of 8 and he got 4 rebounds in 7 minutes.

  • aras

one time maybe thats all i saw

  • aras

the best games of where i saw him using all of his skillset was washington game latest…and the raptors, thats the Lin i want to see every game vary your moves.

  • LinMad

In reality this game was ugly all around. We can’t expect PJ to be shooting 100% of his 3s to win games.

  • LinMad

Batum told Kemba to take over because he was being trapped by defenders. That is actually smart. And it was smart that Kemba passed to Lin a lot.

  • occupatio

whatever about the win, but i rather regret watching this game. it simply was not entertaining.

  • LinMad

true it wasn’t. I felt like coach didn’t do well. We should have blown MEM away today shooting from 3 like that. He made some lineup changes that killed the pace and defense.

  • heart

Cliff messes up 2nd unit chemistry and players affecting Lamb’s production. Lamb played 15:16min 0 pts.

  • BobbyH

Though ugly game, Lin got his anyway,

  • occupatio

i feel sorry for grizz fans. they have to watch some incredibly boring basketball

  • Kwok Wai Lai

With slow Big Al playing 17 minutes. What else can you expect? Plus, he made no assist.

  • CJSHYY

Right now there is no more best 2nd unit anymore… smh!

  • james brown

see how you see also that BF1 is being taken out to erase the stigma of bench being better than starter.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

A win is a win. Horents lost 5 in last 6 games. They need this game so badly.

  • james brown

erased by cliff to avoid comparing it with starters

  • Chopz

Just finished watching game on time delay and the hornets won, woo hoo! Lucky 13 for jlin, ugly win but I’ll take it. Grind it out slugfest, may the best Lin win.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

As long as you put Big Al there, it’s a good assumption.

  • BobbyH

Hornets better wins the next 2 home games. Here comes January 11 road games vs 5 home games.

    My prediction 5-11

  • Kwok Wai Lai

He didn’t give the dope to Big Al.

  • occupatio

lin’s stats tonight are nothing to be pleased about

  • james brown

the casualty of having to take out the BF1 was Lamb right now because he was lost in the rotations and the plays.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Accoss the score board, there isn’t anything that Lin hadn’t done except offensive rebound; good or bad stats, Lin got them all.

  • james brown

better than nothing and it did come during crunch time and clutch moments

  • aras

He had a meh game today 4th quarter was his best.

  • james brown

obvious reasons..starters are being eaten alive by the Bench players

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Don’t worry! he needs to train hard on his body first. He needs strength more than anything else on his body. Perhaps he should put on 10 more pounds of muscle on his framework. Then he would be alright.

  • sws94

I just see that it is altered now. I don’t know why Kemba plays so much. He had a clutch 4th, I’ll give that to him.

  • Chopz

Nice one two punch at the end there by kemba and lin. Kemba with the scoring, lin with the rebounds and free throws.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

To get this win, both Batum and Walker had to play close t0 40 minutes each, which is not good.

  • james brown

that’s what i am saying to those who says before that Jlamb is at his best right now, he needs to develop more because of his frail body.

some said he has deceptive look that he’s weak but actual is that he is strong..i disagree for the reason stated above and yours!

  • of the 24 points scored in the 4th quarter, Kemba scored 11, Jeremy scored 9.

  • occupatio

    last 5 games, kemba’s minutes have been: 44, 41, 41, 41, 40.

BF1 is now dismantled. lin is basically the 2nd half PJ now.

  • cdblue10

ThAT rebound was huge after he made that three

  • james brown

why do one coach change something if its working and being recognize by almost all in the NBA?..well maybe it really for nothing i guess.

  • JJ Hui

So why r u not in nba since you are so good? Are you refering to Kemba?

  • james brown

wonder why? BF1 being dismantled..hope its not because hornets is tanking.LOL!

  • sws94

Or maybe it’s temporary. As always, can’t really say that at this point. There’s no need to dismantle BF1, it’s the starting unit that needed help so everyone’s rotation are different now. What I don’t think is necessary is Kemba at 40 anything. 35 minutes is fine for Kemba.

  • Sophie Paris

Lol would be bad they need to win games to keep up with the topseeds

  • InfiniteWisdom

-kemba and batum both played well. good to see them play well again. we’ll need them…
-lin did ok. if he didnt miss that layup early and if he beat the clock with that other layup, then he wouldve had a great game.
-lamb is… omg what happened? regressing to the mean? he cant be this bad…
-frank played well. didnt score but his iq out there helps. his size and mobility helps.
-al was pretty bad. rust? hope so. he tanked the 2nd unit…
    -no hawes? beautful…
-pj shot well and got some bs fouls… good game for him
-cody was abused early but finished strong. dont like him with the starters, but he should definitely finish games instead of al.

kemba/lin/batum/frank/zeller this is our best lineup. glad they closed with them. it looked a little disorganized at times, but these are your best players, glad cliff sees this as well. more time together and soon they will play great together. good win!

  • InfiniteWisdom

it’s cuz lamb sucks ballz. cant defend a lick and has gone cold. at least kemba is passing to lin now. i have faith it’ll eventually work.

  • aras

charlotte has no bench unit anymore lol

  • DX

Did see Kemba passed to Lin more especially at the last minutes.

  • heart

Lin handled PG duty for like 3 or 4 minutes. He got into rhythm and made a 3 to tie the game, then got pulled from the floor right after that. After returning to the game, he mostly played defense and OFF the ball. The times when he got to score were usually when the ball was dumped to him in the last moment. Yet he still got HIS. Messing up the 2nd unit chemistry affects all reserves and will hurt the team in the long run. Tonight their 3s were falling, but watch out when they’re not.

  • Yascar

Wonder why. Playing so many minutes may lead to injury and he doesn’t have a stellar record to that end. It’s a long way to go to the playoffs.

  • JoeTeam

    It was indeed to short.

  • InfiniteWisdom

lin’s 3pt shot is slowly coming back to him. tonight he tried going to the rim but there was no space and memphis packed the paint. this is where he needs an in between game. the mythical floater that he seemingly works on every offseason but never attempts in game…

  • JoeTeam

    Great post.

  • CJSHYY

I don’t get why they changed their game plan like this? No more 2nd unit run by Lin. It’s bc Hornets knows Lin will not stay so they don’t want him to have good stats? Or just tried to push the run for Kemba & Batum to be in ASG?

  • heart

You have the answers. I think it’s both.

  • aras

He has attempted a couple and what do you know they went in…that and the midranger…but i have a feeling the more comfortable he gets he will utilise them more.

  • CJSHYY

I hate this team. smh! Don’t think they will go too far w this game plan.

  • sws94

He’s not a good defender at all. His offense isn’t very good either now. Frank is now becoming the first offensive option but Lin is still the 3rd most important guy on the team now.

  • InfiniteWisdom

i love every look frank gets. it just doesnt go in sometimes. perhaps he’s not strong enough and the slightest bump gets him just off enough to miss… they look good every time but just dont fall. love his game. he’s going to be really good once he’s got an nba ready body…

  • InfiniteWisdom

i hope for lin’s sake big al is only coming off the bench due to rust. that 2nd unit would be pure trash if al played with them…

  • sws94

I still don’t think he had a great game if he made those shots. Problem with this game is he was just too frantic with the ball, didn’t show the nice ball security he’s been showing prior to this game and the last one. He just has to remember to use hesitation, burst of speed, not just plow towards the paint. Guys like Chalmers are ramped up to strip him driving to the lane. He got lucky the last 2 nights that some of the times he loss the ball it went back to his team mates, but I think he needs to slow it down and just takes what the defense gives him rather than force the issue.

He did, however, play clutch in this game. Deflections, rebounds, hustled to get loose balls, these are winning plays and I think Clifford recognizes this and trusts him at the end of games to close them. The closing lineup was good, but still have to get the balance right of using both sides of the courts and when to set screens.

  • sws94

Exactly. I know Clifford trusts Kemba but those amount of minutes are inviting an injury.

  • JJ Hui

Yeah, Coach didnt want to win even the offense flowing smoothly but he wants to make sure KW and NB have their minutes, win or lose doesnt matter, that made me mad!

  • CJSHYY

I hope so but coach didn’t say anything about Al will be back to 1st unit at all.

  • kauaiblue

Dont get it… im just rooting for jlin to his stats now… dont care for hornets…

  • JoeTeam

    Mem grindhouse.

  • InfiniteWisdom

yep. but what i still dont like is he’s not getting picks. they swing the ball to him and expect him to iso? he’s in a weird situation playing with kemba and batum. if his 3pi shot gets back to him, then he’ll be more deadly but as of right now, he needs picks to free himself and make a play…

  • 1mtoldman

portland without lillard up 34 to 12 after one on the cleveland lebrons.

  • JoeTeam

I deal with it by watching gsw, then Lin minutes. Today I watched the whole game and can’t unsee it lol

  • JoeTeam

Nice call, Al was a mess I was glad when he fouled out.

  • grover chang

LOL. NBA went from team ball to iso superstar to PG league to team ball again.

  • JoeTeam

He wanted a foul. Saw him talking to refs

  • 1mtoldman

yeah thats what i tried to point out last game that basically lin isn’t even the 2 anymore or the 1 he’s the back up (or as you put it more correctly) second half 3. (pj).

he ends up guarding 3’s most of the time. weird.

  • 1mtoldman

walker has played fewer games than the previous every year of his career so far. this could be heading him in that direction again.

  • Briiick

So sick of these stud fabricating teams.

  • 1mtoldman

    its usually ugly against memphis.

  • InfiniteWisdom

eye test tells me cody SUCKS with the 1st unit. he’s such and after thought. but clearly he’s better on d than al so if cliff does bench al, then its for his lack of d. then BF1 id officially dead. kemba gets 40 mins a night and al on the bench? ugh…. lamb will go further into the abyss and lin will stand in the corner much more…

the team looked best when they had kemba/batum/pj/marv/al starting then BF1 of lin/lamb/batum or marv/frank/cody and they should finish with tonight’s lineup kemba/lin/batum/frank/zeller

  • 1mtoldman

disagree his stats will be on balance positive he got points, rebounds, assits, block and a steal. his 3 pt and ft % were good.

only negatives overall shooting % and turnovers. on balance his various “ratings” should go up.

  • 1mtoldman

big al’s obviously just not ready to play at all yet. course he might not never get there!

  • InfiniteWisdom

said this from day 1. when he’s on the floor with kemba and batum, he plays like a 3, a spot up wing. he gets no plays called for him and its mainly kemba and batum playing off each other on the strong side. tonight they were really covering batum so kemba swung the ball to lin, but again, he gets no picks. he’s on an island, forced to iso.

  • I don’t know if this rose-colored glasses… did Lin EVER really get much playing time leading the bench? A lot of the season’s already blurring together for me… I know BF1 was good, of the best in the league, but I still remember Lin having to share his playmaking time with Kemba and Batum even then.

  • Chopz

Both kemba and batum were passing to lin towards the end there, i was in shock, but pass to lin and get the win.

  • InfiniteWisdom

the beginning of the 2nd used to be linsanity. of course eventually the starters came back in and he either stayed in as a spot up shooter or he was benched in favor of lamb early on when lamb was playing great.

recently kemba’s been starting the 2nd, then gets a little rest then comes back in. and early on batum used to start the 2nd and he used to chuck. luckily this isnt the case anymore. hopefully they go back to the true BF1 lineup where lin is pg…

  • sws94

The starting unit wasn’t working and digging holes so he had to pluck guys out from the bench. But he decided he needs to play Kemba almost all of the game.

  • heart

Guys/gals, watch 76rs now. Saw MDA on the bench. 76rs are winning.

  • cdblue10

    what channel?I saw it already

  • heart

    comcast sports nets

  • golfhacker

IMO, Lin is not a “smooth” player. Very herky-jerky. Not a criticism, almost like his body is moving faster than his brain.

  • james brown

yet its not Lin to help the starters to avoid digging holes, but KW helping the bench?
starters were the same, its just KW got to be the Bench PG too!

when you say cliff had to pluck guys from the bench, what does that mean in the context you used?

  • MoominFloren

    They win!!
    1st win after MDA joined!

  • sws94

Lin has been in to help starters in some games. KW may not be in to help the bench, he’s just in. I guess sometimes Clifford bring Kemba in when the starting PG comes in.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Sadly, I agree with this…He’s way too out-of-control sometimes…He needs to learn how to come down and be easy…specially after a turnover

He really needs to add a mid-range game and use it..when driving, stop on a dime and pull up for the 15-foot jumper or 10 feet floater…or drive, fake the jump-shot to get someone in the air, and draw the foul..that’s what he need to do more

When he drives into the lane, it’s always too get all the way to the basket, but with so many people crowding the path, he usually loses the ball or get called for ‘charging’..or gets blocked or stripped

  • heart

Yep. Broadcasters credited to MDA and Coangelo. New vibe/energy on the team,

  • occupatio

in case u missed it, sixers have two PGs in starting lineup. ish and canaan.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400828338

  • DX

That’s true. Only happen when Lin play PG. Unfortunately, that’s only a 2 or 3 minutes. Also AL was not good today. Better play with Zeller, Kemisky.

  • Phillycheese

“Coach doesn’t want to win.” What coach does not want to win? I thought it was a foolish move as I felt Lin heating up too, but he took him out to give him rest for the stretch run. It worked. JLin was able to come back in, get key rebounds and hit some FTs.

  • Yascar

    What happened to Bledsoe?

  • james brown

    LOL!
nice coach indeed…very reactive if it pertains to KW..

  • occupatio

lamb’s stock has fallen in cliff’s eyes. his poor D seems to be the major reason. cliff has lost trust in him.

as a result, lamb’s minutes now get re-distributed to the players that cliff trusts the most: batum and kemba. both of them got 40 minutes tonight.

fewer minutes for lamb means a diminished role for lin, because now there are few minutes each game in which lin gets to run the offense by himself. either kemba or batum or both are basically always on the floor.

this is not some temporary experiment but the pattern i expect to see going forward. because lamb isn’t suddenly going to be a more trusted defender than PJ. the players that may get bigger roles going forward are kam and PJ.

as far as lin is concerned, it’s good he is getting at least 25 min a game now. however, the increased minutes does not mean a bigger role on the team; if anything his role has been diminished. the best PG on the team doesnt get to run the offense, but is asked — like PJ — to guard bigger, taller players on defense, and get the leftovers on the offense.

  • TTNN

    Both ex-Rockets 3rd line PG…..

  • sws94

Clifford said free throws and layups are better than 3s. Maybe that’s why he likes Lin’s game.

  • occupatio

    heh

  • we should definitely keep an eye of 76ers plan regarding JLin in the offseason.
If MDA has his blueprint on the offense, this will be huge opportunity for JLin

  • sws94

kemba said he, Nic or Lin can be the go-to guys down the stretch in any given day.

  • BobbyH

    Action please.

  • sws94

Lin didn’t know the team didn’t miss a FT in the 2nd half. Said he isn’t the go to guy every night, it depends on the game. Said down the stretch he tries to make plays, not worry about not making mistakes. Said all the 3s in the first half wasn’t sustainable and the team’s defense gave up too many points in the paint.

  • Yascar

nvm found it, sprained knee will get mri. If he’s out for a while, that ruins the Suns for a bit.

Stop talking to myself now. ?

  • heart

Any more questions guys? PARAPHRASING: Starting mark 3:33, Cliff said both (KW & NB) are worthy to be included in All-Star and both play All-Star caliber.

  • occupatio

i didnt watch the sixers game so i got nothing anyway. i just looked at the boxscore.

  • occupatio

its a simple test to prove whether or not cliff is overplaying kemba and batum for all-star votes: when the all-star guys are finally named, will cliff play kemba and batum FEWER minutes? will lin finally get to run the offense more?

if kemba and batum suddenly get fewer minutes, then youre right.

but i seriously doubt their roles change after the all-star break. we shall see. im happy to admit being wrong but i dont think i am.

  • Yascar

That’s ok just joking. Didn’t watch either.

  • Chopz

    Lintoni yeah.

  • CJSHYY

So that’s the reason why game plan changed…. smh! Hate it. I hope both will not make it to ASG. This is also confirm that Lin will not stay….

  • sws94

That is such a unfortunate notion, that coach doesn’t want to win with Lin. Didn’t he play him 47 minutes in a game just a few weeks ago? He could have played Lamb. This whole everybody is out to keep Lin down stuff gets tiring.

  • CJSHYY

Both will not make it by vote just hope to pick up by coaches for back up.

  • CJSHYY

Haha! Lin will after ASG … smh! Maybe vs Lakers? LOL!

  • CJSHYY

From Lin’s post game interview today?

  • sws94

The funny thing is that’s exactly how he played in pre-season. Granted it was falling, but Lin was balancing his mid-range with drives and 3 pointers. Now Lin is not shooting that mid-range enough and forcing the drive. He also needs to figure out when guys may step in front of him on the dribble/drive because he gets way too many offensive foul/TOs than he should doing this. Some are unavoidable, but not all.

  • Briiick

Cliff is a “yes” man. Lamb’s poor D was the reason Cliff didn’t trust him much early in the season. But the management forced Cliff to “like” Lamb until KW got mad at Lamb for blowing a defense assignment in the Spurs’ game. Cliff has been trying to pad the stats of KW and Batum in the 1st unit by removing other shot takers, and a player who only takes shots but doesn’t defend for them is most hated by the stat padders.

  • sws94

Yes. Post-game interviews are Cliff, Batum, Kemba and Lin.

  • heart

We know NB and KW will get minutes no matter what. It’s that Cliff is not staggering their minutes appropriately w/Lin for PG duty. Hornets choose them as the franchise core players so they cater to them. That’s obvious. It’s over playing them when it’s not necessary and diminishing Lin’s role as 2nd unit leader. I don’t care if you right or wrong. It’s not about that!

  • Batum and Kemba going 40+ is not sustainable but it could be the All-Star push

Even if Lin continues to be a decoy, he might benefit post All-Star break since these 2 stars will break down the same way Kyle Lowry did last season.

If Crawford continues to use Lin as a decoy, I’m sure Lin will know Hornets might not be the home he’s been looking for.

  • sws94

Coach isn’t thinking diminishing Lin’s role at anything. He’s looking at units and matchups. If he feels Kemba and Lin need to be on together, that’s who he goes with. He’s not trying to keep Lin down, he’s just using his guys. KW is not flexible enough to play 2 positions usually, so it’s PG for Kemba. But it doesn’t mean Lin doesn’t get plays or facilitates. In fact, in tonight’s game, plays were run for Lin late in the game.

  • occupatio

    who is crawford? JK.

  • sws94

I don’t know what it is, I’m not sure it is the ASG or how much that factors into it as you need guys to go as close to 82 as possible. Running them over 40 minutes is going to burn them out.

  • occupatio

i would bet money that lin doesnt return to hornets next year.

  • sws94

I wouldn’t, but next season is next season. After going to the Hornets, I don’t try to figure that out.

  • Acbc

When you have no bench strength, you won’t get far in playoffs. When you have starters eating tin bench play, that means they are not able to develop as players. I remember a few years ago when Spurs played the Clippers and they were up 3 games to none and Pop gave up that away game early and put in his bench to finish the game. People wondered what he was doing. The next game at home they put the clippers away. Two good things happened from that lost. Starters got some rest while Clippers starters wore themselves out. Spurs bench got valuable playoff experience AND BOTH STARTERS AND BENCH FLET THE TRUST OF THE COACH IN THEM. Pop placed his trust in his team to win the next game at home while building up match toughness in the bench.

When you look at the way Clifford handles the play times and rotations, there is no sense that he trusts anybody except for maybe Lin, Kemba and Batum. Lamb, Roberts, Hawes and Hansbrough are always skating on thin ice. Hawes a vet so he can handle it better but Lamb’s confidence is slowly eroding away. Even if the Hornets make the playoffs they’ll have nothing left to match playoff level teams for a whole series.

  • JoeTeam

    I hope so.

  • grover chang

Plays made for Lin for same reason as in past teams as well as now. Because they are desperate for a win.

  • sws94

I don’t think this coach is thinking Lin can’t like McHale, Scott did. He uses guys to their strengths as best he can. I think he’s thinking he’s using Lin in his team to help win. You know, it’s on the defensive end that he knows Lin will be there. Shots may not fall, Lin may miss a shot or FT or even make a TO on offense, but he’ll give his all on defense. May not agree with how he uses Lin and when, but I don’t think he’s trying to limit him even if he end up doing so sometimes. I believe Mchale and Scott did.

  • heart

That’s Hornets plan! Who cares if Some are still not convinced. We’re more concerned about Lin’s role and minutes.

  • tom

Batum will probably get picked after what happened in France
    Kemba probably will be missed

  • occupatio

i get ur general pt about trusting guys, but a big difference between charlotte and san antonio is that san antonio would never have wanted lamb in the first place, much less given him a contract. popovich doesnt use role players who are not two-way players. nor does he use role players that are ball stoppers.

  • tom

He still got the 3rd most minutes tonight despite PJ hairstons hot shooting
That should tell how much Clifford trusts Lin…

  • CJSHYY

Ya! It’s impossible for both to make it. I heard the other day from Celtics commentators said Batum more likely …. not Kemba.

  • DX

No doubt, 1st, Lin isn’t the leader of team not even starter. 2nd, Lin hasn’t extended contract may leave this year or next year.

  • tom

There just are way too many good guards out there Kemba is really good but he probably doesnt even make top 10 PG

Kyrie, Lowry, Isiah, Reggie Jackson, John Wall are all better than Kemba and to think some of these guys cant make alll star… thats how stacked the league is at the 1 postion

  • heart

Yep. The sooner the better for Lin to get a starting gig, but Hornets need him and won’t let him go. We know by FA time.

  • sws94

That’s why Lin at the “Ginobili” role would make him stand out more than a starting PG. The starting PG position is stacked with so many excellent players, it’s going to be a historic time in the NBA for the position.

  • i appreciate your “let’s not panic” replies…

  • tom

For sure, thankfully Lin is a good combo guard he can do the 6th man role just fine and make a name for himself
I actually like Lin in this role fits him pretty well…as long as he gets the minutes
Starting, being the primary ball handler, first option.. etc might overwhelm him after all
Him being the 2nd/3rd option isnt that bad actually

  • tom

I’m pretty sure Roberts knows by now that he is not trusted AT ALL lol
Hawes gets to play more when he’s on a roll Lamb…well they dont need his offence they can score just fine without him Only time he will play extended mins is when the team is down and Lamb is the only guy scoring well.
and this is how most of the teams are coached anyways Popovich does play starters more mins…

  • tom

Lin is better than them, like not even close

  • sws94

He sometimes excels, sometimes forces the issue. Sometimes he just needs someone to take the load off of the facilitating or ball-handing for him, especially when ball-hawking defenses target him.

  • Briiick

Lin, Mr. 4th quarter as always

  • occupatio

actually reddit ppl are wondering if bledsoe tore his ACL.

it was a non contact injury which is scarier.

  • Acbc

Comparing Lin to an old man like Ginobili is like saying Lin’s only good enough to be a back up player.

IMO, Lin is much better than most of the PGs in the league and he will prove it if he ever gets a chance to actually run a team. Lin just score 35 points as secondary option and he’s done it repeatedly whenever a starter has gone down and he’s trusted into a leading role. Lin can score if a coach actually sets plays for him and give him the green light. What truly separates Lin is his ability to make his teammates better and elevate bench and rookies to play far above their own imaginations. That is the Lin express. Lin wins with his team in tow, unlike Kemba, Batum, Wade, Paul, Westbrook, etc.

“I find your lack of faith disturbing”

  • Briiick

Vote for Mr. 4th quarter !

  • CJSHYY

I think only 3 position open. So Lowry, Irving, Wall…. then ….. Batum or Kemba will likely to make it next year when Hornets host the ASG. There is one position will open for Hornets for sure.

  • tom

Pretty sure he meant Ginobili when he was younger
Now you are just picking a fight lol
Lin still has to prove that he can do it all year long before we can say he is better than them
I think Lin can be a good 17/6 player on like .425 shooting if he was given the green light on a good year

  • joyce ward

Is this a lin fan sight? There are so many negative posts makes me wonder. You decimate his game completely if he doesn’t play up to your standards, and then you try to rationalize it by breaking down every little play of his game. Some of yall really need to get over yourselves and realize that this a league that is never going to be a level playing ground when it comes to lin. If some games it looks like he’s doing too much is because he knows he’s on a short leash to get much done. Those games are becoming less frequently for lin, now that he knows what to do to make himself valuable to the team. His stats tonight are so much better when he played with the rockets and struggled. Lin’s problem on this team is that he has an inept coach at times and always experimenting with the lineups and killing his team. The last 4 games they lost were strictly on Clifford’s poor coaching. We need to remember that we are just fans watching from the peanut gallery with our one sided view and opinion what is really happening within the team; but the struggle is real for lin being on the inside. So stop and take pause before you decimate his game because he didn’t live up to your standards. Enjoy the rest of your evening

  • sws94

Whatever. Ginobili in his prime was one of the most exciting and impactful players on the court. You take what I say like I’m talking about you. I’m not. what I said makes perfect sense to a lot of people. Zbo comes off of the bench now, and he finishes. Being a stand-out player coming off of the bench and changing the game and finishing is a strong position in the NBA, not a weak one.

  • Acbc

That’s probably true. But I’m also talking about what is and what needs to be.

A lot of coaching at high levels is not about players, it’s about coaches themselves and FO decisions. I had a tennis player in division 2 that I coached in the off season and was shocked at how his collegiate coach did nothing to help his players to improve. He expected them to be finish products that he could use to promote himself. It was a real eye opener. When you look at Clifford and how he treats his players, that’s pretty much how he threats his players. He uses them as is and if they can’t do the job, they get shipped out. That’s one thing I think the Spurs do well. They draft and develop from within and build up their own rosters with proper player development.

  • sws94

He is and enough already. Whether it is about my views on MDA or Ginobili, you have to accept others have different views and agree to disagree sometimes. I support Lin as strongly as anyone, just go about it my way and always will.

  • Acbc

Lol, if you think that calling Lin a backup is not insulting and annoying to a lot of others on this site than I think you’ve totally misread the sentiment of most of the other posters on this site. It isn’t too far off from trolling IMO.

What is the difference between you calling Lin a 6th man or a troll coming over and calling Lin a scrub backup? Calling Lin a 6th man is the same as calling him a scrub backup. A bench player is a bench player no matter how you dress it up IMO.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

They would lose lots of game in 4th Q without Jeremy.

  • sws94

What I find annoying is that you keep using that stupid word “backup’ to mean inferior to and seem to be implying that I think so low of Lin that I’ll settle for that while you have some clearer higher view of him. That is NOT close to being the case.

I’m using the term Ginobili role to mean a guy entrusted to come into the game a few minutes after the starters and play a leadership role on the team, change the energy, infuse the team with teamball and being the driver/motor that changes the energy from sagging and has this almost spiritual connection to the players to get them all moving in a unified direction while involving pretty much all of the players on the team. And then he’s entrusted to finish the game because he’s a winner and makes winning plays in a variety of ways on both sides of the floor.

So, if that sounds inferior to you. So be it. But enough of the “backup” nonsense from you. That’s not at ALL what I’m saying and you are totally missing my point.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The playoff race ensures that Lin will be used at optimal level for the team. The usage of Lin should be higher not lower in future games. After about 30 minutes of game, both Batum and Walker need someone to step in and produce for the team. This is when Lin comes in saving the game for the Hornets with his energy and speed.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Nobody in the team can set good picks! This team needs to trade for Ed Davis. Give Portland Big Al who is on their last year and get big Ed. I ensure you that Big Ed is going to dunk over everybody in the Eastern Conference.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Agree. Memphis’ game is always ugly. They just grind it out and keep fouling to slow down the game.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    They’re tired.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Good or bad, Lin did it all.

  • Spot

Jeremy must go to Philly ASAP! Or, at least, after Psalm get him his big check! 😀

  • tom

If you find people calling Lin 6th man insulting then maybe you need help unless you are Lin himself or someone close to him.
6th man is a very important role and Lin currently plays the 3rd most mins on his team
You are the one calling him a back up or scrub now not me
Because 6th man is not a scrub, at least not to knowledgeable NBA fans or basketball fans

  • tom

He has something good going in charlotte why throw that away?

  • Spot

No. Nothing’s good in Charlotte. Phila is playing to win now.

I say it again, if Jeremy goes to Philadelphia in few weeks they can make the play-off NOW.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin is always made to pick up something that people don’t want. Tonight, it’s Big Al.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

You call that good. You haven’t seen yet.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

That’s a bit of exaggeration, isn’t it? Seriously! Lin is human.

  • tom

Is it better than LAL? where he even received a DNP-CD?

  • tom

No they can’t. They already lost 29 games
He’s playing the 3rd most mins now so yah… things are good

  • tom

Why are izalongnight’s posts always inactive?

  • Dan Cohen

    yeah ok.

  • LinMad

LinWin is always bagging on Lin’s missed free throws. Well guess how many free throws he made today. Just cause he missed 1 in the first half you don’t have to be a debbie downer bout it.

  • Dan Cohen

    no, he is not..to spot

  • zxcvb

I’m 99% sure he’ll be in Philly next season if MDA is still there. I wish he could go there now, but I doubt CHA would trade Lin for a minor asset like a 2nd rd pick. And Philly would never offer a major asset like a 1st rd pick for a player on an expiring contract. They can just sign Lin this summer w/o giving up anything.

For now, I’m glad that Lin’s minutes have gone way up, though it stinks that his teammates still ice him out for entire quarters at a time. Batum is the main culprit, and since he handles the ball as much as Kemba, that’s a big problem.

  • tom

I dont think thats the issue lol

    You are probably getting flagged

  • Spot

    They can. If they do.

  • your son’s voltaire

so your definition of good is anything other than lakers then you’re shooting way too low

  • Spot

Because he’s a troll and been flagged heavily.

And I’m still waiting his answers on my questions.

And his comment is a troll comment, again.

  • John Focker

Yeah right, just like Kobe. *rolleyes*

  • Dan Cohen

at 5:08, batum was passing it to lin.. but cliff was pissed off at kemba?

  • tom

They are not GSW they cannot go .900 for the rest of the season even with Lin LOL

  • Spot

    That’s your opinion. Not mine.

They have to win 40 of 50 games remaining.

  • sport

CHA is no better than Rockets, Lin still stuck in corner, iced out by teammates, forced to play off ball, except it’s even lesser minutes. It’s like Cliff just took Mchale’s marginalization handbook and copied the exact same time! Cliff said he knew Lin’s game well, Lin’s game is PnR and we never see any of that! Now even Kaminsky is icing Lin out and just looking to score.

  • Dan Cohen

u are arguing with someone who has abc misarranged…so take that into consideration

  • your son’s voltaire

clifford obviously cares more about politics than winning basketball games. not sure if he even knows how to coach. we saw earlier how he unnecessarily called a timeout just as Lin was about to attack on a fast break of 4 on 3. not to mention, one had just been called minutes before. and on defense, he starts a poor defender PJ for “defensive reasons”. and all his defense really does is just protect the defensive rebounds and not fouling. big woop! lol. even an average fan can do that. not sure why anyone here would want Lin to keep playing for clifford and the hornets. can’t wait for Lin to play for MDA or just about any other team than this

  • Yascar

Which is asking too much… of anyone. Winning the last 80% of their games after spending 1/3 of their season in a losing culture will take better talent and an entire team overall playing out of their minds. It’s a team sport at the end of the day. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t be complaining so much about his current teammates or his coach. And that Philly team, with or without Lin, is not good enough to win 80%.

The jury’s out on me for next season but tbh I’m too invested in Lin’s performance now to even worry about that.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Well said

  • sport

May? Lin’s definitely opting out of the low pay contract. Question is how much power MDA will have with the 76ers. Pretty sure MDA and Lin still keep contact for a reunion.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin is so quick that he snatched all crucial rebounds in this game. Lin also tipped lots of loose balls to his teammates which is of course not in the stats.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin and Kemba are leading shot blockers in the back court.

  • Dan Cohen

u do notice that it’s ok for media and everyone to say lin is a 6moy candidate and even ok for nba and media for him to win that award.

But it’s not ok for media and the nba that lin is the franchise starter…or even a starter. (but it’s arguable that 6moy is a capable starter…)

It can be due to his race (there I said it),
    or
It can be due to the fact that people will say the nba scouting system is flawed because they fail to see anything in lin to discover him. That is a big impact on their scouting system. (plus noticed that MOST drafted players get the a lot more chances than nondraft..probably due to this reason)
    or
You are labeled as a certain type of player until some gm/owner/coach breaks that label and uses you more…

  • heart

Yep. Notice that and was very annoyed by that.

  • Hope

76ers beat suns today. Wow, that had mda written all over. No doubt about lin to Philly.

  • Dan Cohen

if they can turn it around this season AND win playoffs, the owners can say you don’t need jeremy lin.. you just need MDA.

  • Hope

    That is reaching it.

  • Hope

Franchise starter vs backup? It’s a no brainer.

  • blubell
  • blubell
  • tom

He gets some plays ccalled for him now and he basically plays starter mins every night now

  • heart

Yep. Also, Lin practically has no screens. He has to make his own shots playing off the ball and still manages to put up points on the board.

  • blubell
  • Whitman Lam

I’d rather see Lin’s dimes go to Kaminsky than Spencer “Stone Hands” Hawes. At least Frank can finish layups and he also is the only one helping Lin on the defensive end.

  • LW

Lin is currently ranked #1 in blocks among all PGs!
His Blks per game 0.71 is even better than Tyson Chandler’s 0.68 and Asik’s 0.32!

    http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/blocks/sort/avg48Blocks/position/point-guards

  • Whitman Lam

    What’s Lin’s per 36 minutes block rate ?

  • blubell
  • tom

Looking like a HongKong movie star in the 80’s Like Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung put together divided by 2

  • LW

his per 48 min is 1.36

  • JoeTeam

That hair works for me. On the NBA content … ok, that is it. Nothing controversial, just good view toward not relying on 3s. Good D.

  • JoeTeam

almost got one today, not sure if it’ll be in the highlights.

  • heart

Praying for some indication that Lin and MDA are in contact and MDA will be pushing to sign Lin soon…

  • Hope

I’m sure lin will be in 76ers uniform next season if not this year.

  • heart

The day we heard MDA signed w/76rs was the same day Lin got 35pts OT on Raptors game, 17 Dec 2015. That was the divine day for Lin and possibly MDA too. Hope the two shall reunite soon. God’s willing…

  • Yellow

Happy to see that Jeremy’s FG% is climbing up to 42.5% and 3P% is up and up to 33.3%.
Fingers crossed his 3P% reaches 40% before All Star ballots closes. *.*

  • Guest

Obviously you are not that observant and don’t understand Lin well enough…Lin fan or not, all sports fans understand how players choose their team in the FA.

  • JoeTeam

    Jun Liu for ya:

  • Yascar

That is scary. I’ll go look u the play myself.

Thank goodness Lin is healthy so far. Hope it stays that way.

  • Brent Yen

Jeremy Lin has been playing great! #NBAVote!

  • guest

Never really paid attention to Coach Clifford but noticed he has flirty eyes while watching the postgame interview…hmmm doesn’t match his honest, down to earth demeanour..

  • JoeTeam

    understated as usual, Brent!

  • JoeTeam

What are you talking about? I said Kemba gets cred as in he gets credit. Lin did seal it because he made 4 FTs. Relax and read.

  • JoeTeam

That we can agree on as just 4 yrs ago, it was the rage for people, including Toney Douglas calling him out on youtube (since deleted) that he would not take the pressure shots. LeBron is good, but he can do with some humility and making his team around him better. Maybe he used to do it I don’t know didn’t follow him in CLE v1.0.

  • JoeTeam

he missed 2. That happens. LeBron missed 3 of 4 on Christmas day to lose it for CLE v GSW. It happens. Lin has consistently been good on his FTs in crunch time, unless you haven’t been following.

  • JoeTeam

    love your posts.

  • JoeTeam

he has selective memory. There has been enough stats to go around about Lin’s superior crunch time performance, it’s not worth going back and reinventing narratives.

  • Yascar

    Was that Patricia, Jeremy’s SIL?

  • james brown

    he will be!

  • james brown

    well said!

  • MoominFloren

Agree…he’s labeled by many basketball “experts”

I hope after this year, his label of “bad defender” will be taken off.

  • kjch

I agree. I seriously don’t know how the above comment even got 5 upvotes. It’s extreme to say something like 6th man = backup scrub = all bench players. Ridiculous comment IMO… which is quite surprising since Acbc usually makes sensible comments 99% of the time.

  • Steppen03

    That… Is… Impossible !!!
Even if a Steph Curry is on the Sixers now I still doubt it!
You need a cohesive system and team chemistry. Playoff picture is out! But if Lin can join MDA in Philly and grab some really great wins and avg 25pt & 8 – H***, Yeah – Go For It, playoff or not.

  • Spot

I remember you 9-1 with the Knicks who had average players.

40 on 500 is 80%. It’s not impossible. But they should do it soon or it become impossible for real.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes and a little bit of his big bro, Josh as well.

  • Yascar

Thanks she looked a bit nervous lol. Nice to see them at the games after spending Christmas with Jeremy.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

For sure we know JLin and MDA do contact with each other. Not sure about JLin will join him soon.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

hehehehe. After the travel called, everyone sure didn’t want JLin to be scapegoating on the loss:-)

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Vince Carter just came out and used his foul blatantly against Jeremy. Carter didn’t even pretend to block the shot or make a steal.

  • kauaiblue

    Agreed, sport

  • kauaiblue

Right, hawes doesnt even pass to jeremy… both bigs are soft though…

  • Phillycheese

Thanks for the highlights. I missed some of those Lin taps to teammates for retaining possession during the actual broadcast. I can’t believe Lin was defending Randolph and Green on some of those possessions. Stephanie Ready is a very fair announcer and treats Lin with a lot of respect, you can tell with her assessments, good and bad points.

  • Yascar

Ginobili even now at the end of his career is still a pretty effective player. I like Manu.

I’m not sure what Lin’s potential is and I hope he hasn’t yet reached his ceiling, but if he has a career like Manu and especially if he surpasses it, I would be very very happy.

  • adele

Its ok. Theres still next season to look forward to.

  • adele

As always Heart. Non stop campaign for these two. He won’t mention Lin for all star at all. Except that one game where he cant make any excuse.

  • adele

Depends if they still have a chance on the playoffs after the ASG. They will use Lin more after the all star. If you remember, Lin breaks out after the all star in Rockets and Lakers? Because they are resting their stars and the stars are in place. But they have to stop it also at some point because they don’t want their stars to be overshadowed by Lins performance.

  • adele

But they are heavily campaigning for Kemba

  • adele

Im with you. But there are people here that will not be happy with your opinion and you know some of them.

  • adele

Agree. Some people think that they know about basketball and their opinions are better than others. We need to respect each others opinions and move on with reading blogs.

  • KHuang

    Kemba Walker STUNK as usual.

He has become a James Harden zero defense player who gave up far more points than he scored.

Memphis attacked Walker all game. Walker didn’t even try to contest most possessions. Because he was constantly beaten defensively, it pulled Charlotte’s bigs out of defensive position and that is why Gasol and Randolph went off.

Lin won the game for the Hornets by providing defensive help to the bigs whenever Walker was beaten and also by creating off the dribble when Batum and Walker finally gave up their losing isoball late in the game (likely because Clifford ordered them to pass to Lin).

  • KHuang

The reason Lin was caught on switches against Randolph and Green was because the Hornets defense was out of synch all game due to Kemba Walker constantly being beaten defensively.

Even when Walker was not on the court, the Charlotte bigs were thrown out of rhythm so badly defensively that Lin got caught on a few switches.

  • adele

Very true at least there are some who really understands whats going on and not having a question mark on top of their heads every game.

  • KHuang

    That did not bother me.

What really enraged me was that “traveling” turnover that Lin did when he was fouled in the act of shooting a 3 pointer and the refs took away what should have been 3 Lin free throws.

  • KHuang

Because Lin is a ONE YEAR RENTAL and the Hornets intend to phase him out after this season.

  • KHuang

    Not this game.

  • KHuang

    Not really.

  • KHuang

I’M Lin’s biggest critic on free throws.

    Not recently though.

Lin has fixed his free throw woes.

  • KHuang

Ginobili was always a WILDLY OVERRATED PLAYER.

  • KHuang

I didn’t see Lamb defending poorly.

The sole reason Lamb doesn’t play is because Lamb cannot protect Kemba Walker’s zero defense.

  • Chopz

He hit that big 3 and the two free throws at the end so about time he did something right. But ur absolutely correct, he’s a handicap out there.

Ur playing 4 on 5 because he can’t guard his man one on one, and the minute u run a pick and roll on him, he’s beat. Horrible pnr defense, horrible size.

If kemba didn’t shoot the hornets out of the game early, most games wiuld be a comfortable win. But the chuckster keeps chuckin, and then has to hit big 3’s in the end just to stay above water.

  • Brent Yen

From the highlight thumbnail…..Mario Chalmers averaged 9.2ppg 2.7apg on 40.6 FG%. So much for a guy saying he is the best PG not really long ago….:P

  • Brent Yen

    Exactly….totally nonsense BS call

  • KL

A lot of Clifford’s decisions can be understood once you factor in that he only wants the team to succeed with Walker and Batum at the forefront. Clifford broke up Bench Force 1 not because he has animosity with Lin but he wants to find a way for Walker and Batum to win.

The bench is great? Put Kemba and Batum in there with the bench players (worked ok with Batum, not so well with Walker). Or move bench players to play with the starters (worked well with Lin, ok with Kaminsky and not so well with Lamb).

Frankly it is not too different from Scott who wanted to win with Kobe and nobody else. I remember a string of games with the Lakers last year, where Lin would give the Lakers a 4th quarter lead and in the last 2 minutes Kobe would iso and brick every shot until they lost the game.

The main difference between Clifford and Scott is that if Kemba or Batum is out, Clifford will still want to win. For Scott, it was win with Kobe or tank all the way to protect their draft pick.

Hence, Lin was benched by Scott and swarmed by endless rotation changes just when he was picking up his stride after the All-Star Break. That also explains why Lin excelled in the game that he started against the Raptors with Batum out. Lin was not so spectacular when he started in place of Hairston since the offence still went through Batum and Walker.

For McHale, he wanted to win but had absolutely no faith in the “fluke” of Jeremy Lin. That is why Lin got minutes when he was shooting well and got yanked off for mistakes. Clifford on the other hand, has allowed Lin to get good minutes even when he is not playing very well.

All in, I have to conclude that Clifford is better than Scott and McHale. The problem is that he is trying to do a jigsaw puzzle where 2 pieces are special and given spots that they may not deserve. The other pieces are the forced or bent out of shape to accommodate those 2 pieces or “cornerstones”.

Great for Clifford keeping his job but the team will never reach their ultimate potential. Lin will improve his reputation over his stint with the Rockets and Lakers and will be more effective overall, because all things said, Clifford is a knowledgeable coach.

Part of me hopes for Lin to join D’Antoni but I wonder if that is just wishful thinking. D’Antoni could not get Melo to mesh with the rest of the team. He did not bench Melo, could not stop the losing and had to resign. I agree that he can help Lin to excel. But so many other things have to fall into place.

So, sorry if I seem to be sitting on the fence. I actually want the Hornets to win, which is an improvement over the Rockets and Lakers. Kemba has gone from Kobe-lite (useless at both ends) to Harden-lite (useless on defence) which is a small improvement. I am frustrated with Clifford but can any coach really bench their “superstars”? I will have to just take it one game at a time.

  • gasparthe2nd

Hurrah!!! for my hero Mr. Lin.

  • KHuang

Walker and Batum’s selfish isoball defenseless play is hurting Lin’s teammates far more than it’s hurting Lin.

  • KHuang

Walker getting beat on pick and roll is not size.

It’s him standing straight up with his arms down and not even trying to fight around the picks or contest his man.

  • Brent Yen

Lin is in a good situation right now….not perfect….but so far the best…AND THANKs to Batum and Kemba….Lin is getting more chances…LOL

  • Guest

As a novice bball fan who only watch NBA games on a regular basis after Linsanity, I learn that the NBA is a big man game. So I was wondering why MJ didn’t realise that Kemba’s size(6’0″) makes him a huge handicap at SG which is his natural position given he doesn’t have good PG skills. But then when I googled AI (as I recalled that he’s kinda undersized too) and got to know that he’s second only to MJ in playoff scoring (average of 29.7 points per game), I sorta understand why MJ’s so high on Kemba despite of his height ( but of course taken into consideration of him winning NCCA championship). To me though Kemba is mediocre and for Lin to play backup to an average NBA player is a watse of Lin’s talents. Pray hard for the Hornets to make the playoffs so that Lin gets to gain more playoffs experience but the Hornets are so stubborn to build around mediocre players…at this point it’s really hard to tell if the HOrnets can squeeze through the playoff door and our Lin won’t watse another precious year and go fishing early next year.

  • Guest

Bcuz he was yelled at by the Best SF, Centre and SG repeatedly when he’s on the Heat and he mistaken all the yelling is about “Mario, you’re the best PG…”

  • Guest

Indeed. And even worse is that Lin has to back up mediocre players…at least Harden and Kobe are the top ranked players.

  • james brown

JLIN’s not wasting his year of NBA playing but harnessing his weakness and strengthening his already strong character. With Hornets its a win win situation for him. I believe jeremy does not entertain Playoff with Hornets this year because of the structure of his contract..he’s a Rental for 1 year player for Hornets, and a rental has no security with it, that’s why Jeremy is taking advantage of all situation given to him and it will be the hornets that at the losing end if they fail to acknowledge what Lin can give the hornets!

  • james brown

    2nd year player option..remember?

  • Guest

We want Lin to gain playoff experience. Improvement and experience gained during the regular season is important but playing in the post season is also critically important too.

  • Rick Johnson

I thought Walker and Batum were passing more to JLin last night. Unfortunately he just kept missing. But I remember once he missed and the next possession they gave JLin the ball again trying to get him going. I was surprised they fed him again after the miss. I think things may be slowly changing, or at least they realize they can’t win the game if they ice Jeremy out.

  • sport

Needing MDA means having him lead the team and bring over people he wants!

  • james brown

no longer his tag as we are talking here!

  • james brown

almost always during fourth quarters with game close, you will notice that Batum starts to defer to lin because of his many mistakes past games. when KW is dead tired or played many minutes, he surely defer to lin when the game is on the line.

    But not during blow outs…LOL!

  • james brown

not on this team and not yet..JLIN knew about this and he just want for this year to show what he can do given the opportunity, though opportunity now is so small, he adapt and use it wisely to his benifit and we are seeing the fruits of his perseverance and patience.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I also found out in 4Q both passed the ball to Lin more… 1-3Q, they were more ISO for themselves.

  • CJSHYY

Don’t think Lin will be traded to 76 this season.

  • Acbc

MDA’s first gig as a head coach turned the Suns around. Nash and Lin are doppelgänger sin game. MDA and Lin together can not only turn the franchise around, with the draft picks Hinkie hoarded, they can build a team together that can finally change the ghosts that have haunted them. MDA needs to win a title and so does Lin to bury all the critics a that have made their life a miserable. I cannot emphasis enough how perfect this situation is for both Lin and MDA.

“n 2003, he was hired with 61 games left in the season as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns[3] and, despite leading the team to a poor record in the second half of the year, he received a vote of confidence for producing inspired play from an injury riddled team. With the acquisition of free agent Steve Nash before the 2004-05 season, who was experienced in a run-and-gun style from his previous stint with the Dallas Mavericks, this began an incredible turnaround for the Phoenix Suns. Nash excelled running D’Antoni’s pick-and-roll offense.[4] D’Antoni won the NBA Coach of the Year Award after his Suns went 62–20 to finish first in the regular season with 41 more wins than previous year. His style, dubbed “Seven Seconds or Less,” was described in a book of that name. Overall, his Suns won fifty or more games in four consecutive seasons, while Nash earned NBA MVP honors in 2005 and 2006. In addition to Nash, D’Antoni’s Suns also featured All-Star power forward Amar’e Stoudemire and high-flying small forward Shawn Marion. They made consecutive appearances in the Western Conference finals in 2005 and 2006, losing to the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks, respectively.”

  • your son’s voltaire

they know that Lin is the only guy who can make something happen in those situations where the defense really tightens up. he’s the only guy who can penetrate at will, draw defenders, dish it out, score, or draw fouls

  • your son’s voltaire

i wouldn’t blame them too much. it’s more an issue with the FO pushing those two guys to be the face of the franchise. Batum isn’t really selfish, he’s just very confused right now. he’s more comfortable being the 3rd option, not the primary ball distributor. Kemba is like a lot of the shooting guards in a point guard’s body. he doesn’t know any better but trying to learn how to be unselfish

  • sws94

Honestly, I almost don’t care about a lot of stuff now. like Kemba and Batum and starter vs. 6th man or whatever or MDA or Philly or next year or such. Look at Bledsoe, Griffith, MKG, there are players losing significant time due to injury. Lin said be thankful for what you have instead of worrying about wanting more. Really, I frankly there is a LOT of wanting so much on the Lin boards rather than being grateful he’s had no significant injuries keep us from watching him play and holding him back and having him have to rehab and so forth. That is the overriding most important part to Lin, he’s staying relatively healthy to play the game he loves.

You can always have a better situation somewhere else where you can do more. It’s not just for Lin, it is for a lot of players in a lot of professional sports. So, I’m looking at positives and now and knowns and not tremendously concerned with next season, next team, next coach, who isn’t doing what on the team he’s on because nothing is that severe where he is. He is getting opportunity to play and contribute and he will do well if not this game or next game, if he’s healthy, some game down the road.

I have but this is as good as it gets now

Kemba is a good player you dont average 18-5-4 being mediocre and MJ is not the one who decides how Kemba is played or Lin for that matter hes just the owner not GM or coach people need to lay off MJ

As much of a Lin fan I am, I don’t think Kemba warrants benching based on his numbers…Afterall, Kemba is averaging 18ppg and shooting close to 44%fg…Outside of Lin fan, you won’t be able to find anyone that could make such an argument with a straight face.

Saying that, you could make an argument that Lin starting at PG could possibly make the Hornets slightly better since Lin has better point-guard instinct and skills, thus would probably be able to average a bit more assist than Kemba…But Lin also would turn the ball over much more if the ball were to stick in his hands with higher usage.

Lin’s handle is also inferior to Kemba and this is probably Clifford main excuse for trusting Kemba so much more when it come to playing point-guard.

  • CJSHYY

    losing Williams is gonna hurt

  • Spot

Jeremy better in PPG. Which means if Jeremy was allowed to have more touches could’ve had better lines.

Kemba was, is and always be an average NBA player who freezes out his teammates while chucking ball after ball.

  • sws94

Unless it gets worse, they both play. Hawes, I’m not sure what’s going on. He’s falling out of favor but sometimes, in limited use, he can be a positive on the floor.

  • I am The Jason

Let Lin start and drop a career high on Kobe again.

  • adele

People always doubt Heart. Some have different perception of whats going on.

  • sws94

in my opinion, speculation about FO, Cho and MJ, is useless. We have no idea of their input on the team. Yes, we know MJ discusses things with Cliff, and that’s all we know.

Kemba has a lot of bad habits and some really good skills. He’s a mixed bag but he certainly isn’t incompetent. I rather like him as a person so far, and he certainly isn’t as obnoxious and self-centered on the court as Kobe and Harden were. Lin playing well with a ball-dominant player helps him and hopefully his very real tendency to defer to them will be lessened doing so.

  • Spot

    “It’s Brett’s gig” … OK, D’Antoni is not the coach. He’s also a back-up 😀

  • adele

Kemba will always have the minutes. He is the face of their franchise. Batum is some kind of motivation to re-sign with them. They will still give them regular star minutes.

  • adele

    Right on your opinion.

  • sws94

Probable is probably playing. Even if he can’t, Frank can step in and just play more minutes. The Lakers aren’t good anyway, Charlotte should beat them by 10 points.

  • adele

Some coaches do benched their superstars.

  • adele

Hoping for another Linsanity game with all these injuries.

  • sws94

Lin’s handle sometimes can negate his point guard skills. Lin is a 5 on 5 player strongly benefitting from bigs that know how to set screens and roll and other guys being in position and ready to get his passes. On this team, that’s not the case. Realistically, this team is better with Kemba starting over Lin. Not all teams, but this one, yes. Lin is just fine except that he needs more time running his unit without Kemba now, Kemba is playing too many minutes with Lin. That’s all. That works. And if Kemba and Batum keep going to Lin in the crunch period like they did last game, then the 3 of them are on their way of working out the tough balance of playing with 3 facilitators.

My approach is to maximize Lin in the context of the team and not try to put him in something that is about him and his skills to lead the team, but using his skills within the coach’s/team’s concept. I don’t agree fully with Clifford, but going on the clues Clifford gives, he needs to get back to having Lin run a solid 2nd unit squad because that squad was good.

  • JoeTeam

if you are talking about at 1min or so in highlights, I was Carter get ball, so not sure which one you mean. He happened to hit lin in the face I think so it was a fair try in D maybe.

  • Rick Johnson

Ya during blow outs they just want to pad their stats.

  • JoeTeam

    Bledsoe is hurt.

  • DX

Big win and 40 points for Lin.

  • sws94

Being a closer helps Lin’s stats, especially points. Him being in the lineup and able to get rebounds at end-of-game situations lead him to getting hacked. If he hits the FTs, which he usually does, that’s more points for him. His last 4 points or maybe more were in FTs and he scored 9 pts in the 4Q.

  • JoeTeam

not really chucking but at times, looks like he’s ‘taking the team on his back’, which leads to it being a 1-5 game after a couple of plays. Kills all ball movement and trust.

  • sws94

It’s one of his worse habits. I think he’s trying to not do it but habits are hard to break. He’s still young, only 25, and maybe when he’s 27 or so he’ll not do it so much. He’s even doing it less this year according to Hornet’s fans.

  • 1mtoldman

    lotta players hurt.

  • JoeTeam

that last rebound and 4 FTs really helped with the box score fans. That’s the thing, lin is always close to having a great game of mid teens or over 20 if they consistently go to him at the end too to mix it up.

It’s not a winning way to go to one guy in the last 2 mins. You can almost predict it for certain teams – you see a game that is close, and you know for sure the go-to-guy is going to up his stats while everyone else on the floor’s efficiency goes down. On Rox, Harden. CHA, KW. NYK it used to be Melo, and is is KP this year dunno? LAL was KB last year. The other teams where you can’t tell who’s going to up their stats are the teams that can close it out and gives the fans confidence.

  • JoeTeam

yep, I say JLin stays healthy for his real team. Seem to be saying that every year since Linsanity and that time he was hurt, really missed him and I bet he really missed ballin’

  • JoeTeam

Yes, I liked seeing the ball zipping around the perimeter KW to Batum to JLin a few times in the crunch, 2 at min or 3. But they didn’t give Lin enough time because KW took a bit with it. Batum zipped it. On that one where Lin decided to go in and had a TOV, I think he started with 4.5 sec and I was thinking, good, a couple of handles and a 3 but he went in and I think that was the one where he got the clock violation. He wanted the foul as he was grabbed going in.

  • sws94

Agree, have to mix it up. If Kemba was a stronger player, he could initiate great offense leading to a great shot. But he’s not. He’ll make some and make it more ISO than anything while passing for bail-outs. Not the way to go. Only a few guys could ISO but only because other guys couldn’t be left open.

  • sws94

I wish that one counted. That was clutch, but he clearly had the ball in his hand when the light went on.

  • Acbc

Exactly. Last night was an example that when kW started to share the ball with Lin, it opened up his own. If opponents know you are not going to pass, then they just focus on you. It’s just simple logic.

That’s what makes Lin so special. He brings all players in play so you can’t focus on anyone. MJ did that with Kerr and others. Melo, Harden and Kobe , not so much.

  • kauaiblue

Jordan is the owner… he calls the shots…

  • Briiick

I just knew it. It only takes MDA and a supporting management to turn around a team. If Lin joins them next season, they will reach the playoff and possibly generate a lot of more excitement.

  • tom

They have a coach and a GM for a reason

  • tom

He’s not that bad hes even shooting better than Lin now and his TO is very very low for a ball dominant PG
He’s not a play maker but hes not as bad as you say
Lin could be a dragic type of player if hes allowed to play imo
he could go 17/6 as a starter

  • JoeTeam

And JHarden loves that because it’s easier for him to get a foul with 4 or 6 arms at him than just 2 lol.

  • JoeTeam

Initiate it earlier. He’s not guilty of Harden last sec passes, but he holds it a little too long so has to decided earlier like Lin does. Lin does make mistakes, but waiting too long is not one of them and if his tries fail, he’s will have options to reset. Guess that’s MDA’s 7 seconds or less … maybe.

The irony with the Jordan example is that Melo, Harden, and Kobe are ball hogs because of Jordan. They just remember Jordan being the man and taking the shots. They want to be like Mike. They don’t remember the rest of his game outside the shooting highlights.

I think McHale was dumb. He did not understand what Lin was trying to do. His ideas were outdated. Lin was playing chess. Mchale was playing checkers. Lin’s modern game was “japanese algebra” to him.

BS was very disappointing to me as a Laker fan raised on showtime. Scott was outdated like Mchale but furthermore he was a bully. Mean person to his players while in an authority position which just made him look weaker and smaller. Again, disappointing to me who has a child grew up thinking of Scott as a hero, a champion.

  • grover chang

I was just shaking my head because I knew that they knew this was a must win. No Lin, No Win. There actions was an even bigger indictment to their selfishness and errors. They know if you really need to win then involve Lin. Then why wait for a three game losing streak and be out of a playoff spot to get serious? Answer is Pride.

  • tom

Yah pays them to do their jobs

  • 717

    #surrender
When Lin joined the Rox they tried to turn him into a defensive specialist. He refused and so he lost his starting position to Patrick Beverley. Then Lin was traded to the Lakers and Kobe said, “Lin is a good defensive player and we’re going to turn him into a great one.” Lin’s response was that no matter what he would play his brand of bb. So then Lin was benched for the head of the snake, Ronnie Price.

Now on the Hornets, Lin has finally given in. In order to get minutes he has become their Patrick Beverley. Their defensive Wolverine. At first Lin got to run the point for about 8 minutes a game. And despite the lack of PnR bigs, BF1 was doing well and 8 minutes was better than nothing.

But guess what. Now he gets 0 minutes to run the point. With Kemba playing 41 minutes a game that would leave 7 for Lin. But for most of those 7 minutes Batum is “facillitating” which leaves Lin with nothing but the wolverine role.

Anyone who thinks Lin is in a good position is deluding himself. Lin is clearly disappointed with how he’s being played. At a minimum he expected to play backup PG minutes. Unless Batum or preferably Kemba misses a large chunk of games, this season will be another waste of Lin’s PG talent while he is still in his prime. And please stop saying thank you to Cliff for trusting Lin and letting him win games for him.

  • KHuang

    THANK YOU CLIFFORD –

for playing Lin way more than a typical $2 million player gets.

    THANK YOU CLIFFORD –

for playing Walker and Batum so much that they stink and then Lin has to save them. Because if Walker and Batum were playing great, Lin’s minutes would be handed to Lamb and Lin would be DNP CD.

Lin’s in a good position – and I dare you to call me delusional.

  • KHuang

    Oh, they’re banged up?

Cool, MORE MINUTES AND TOUCHES for Lin (even if they play.

Actually, the Lakers are so bad that Lin’s not needed against them. So I’m not expecting Lin to do much against his former team.

  • KHuang

It’s not Kemba’s or Jefferson’s lack of size that is killing them.

It is their REFUSAL TO PLAY TEAMBALL that is killing them.

  • KHuang

Kemba gets more points and assists piled up against him than he generates.

WORSE THAN MEDIOCRE, and that is why Charlotte has stunk when Lin’s not on the court.

  • KHuang

Batum and Walker wasted too much time playing loser heroball on that play before handing the ball to Lin to save the possession.

  • KHuang

    Completely disagree as usual.

This team would be FAR BETTER with Lin as starting PG and Walker off the bench.

Lin runs the plays and plays bonecrushing defense and draws double and triple teams. Walker BREAKS the plays and refuses to defend. That’s why Charlotte stinks with Walker and plays great with Lin according to the numbers.

  • KHuang

The Suns are awful this year and are plagued by massive internal problems.

  • KHuang

Ugh, that would be a TOTAL FAIL if Lin became a bricklaying pouting selfish ballhog who needs three picks just to get his shot off like Dragic does.

  • 717

Lin gave a discount to get a better role and more playing time. Not to get worse and less.

  • Phoenix Rising

Agreed on 1, 3 and especially 4. Also agree with second part of 2 – but only at the start of the season. I think it is clear to Clifford now that Lin is, far and away, more valuable than Lamb.

  • Phoenix Rising

Lin does not REFUSE his coaches. At least I have never seen so publicly. He was more than happy to adjust his game every year he has been in this league. He was benched in Rockets so that Harden had the ball, and would call more plays. And he was benched in LA, because Byron is a buffoon. Who wanted to tank. Can’t agree with anything in your premise.

Lin can be in a better position (i too am quite enthusiastic about a move to 76ers) but he isn’t in a bad situation now and he doesn’t look very disappointed either (experience of last 2 years of SEEING him disappointed).

  • Yascar

You’re making a lot of assumptions here. Jeremy “refused” to learn defense? He studied defense with his trainers on his own last summer. And Kobe just didn’t talk about defense, he talked about making Jeremy a better overall player. Of course there was no help for Jeremy in that dysfunctional team.

Jeremy himself talks about being happy with what you have versus getting exactly what you want. I think most of us recognize the Hornets are not perfect but to say Jeremy is disappointed about becoming a defensive specialist when he said he was happy to finally be shredding the “no defense” label and praising this team for teaching him new defensive techniques is reaching imo.

Many Christians use #surrender when they surrender to God’s will, not necessarily when they are unhappy with a certain path. Not sure what Lin means, but there are many different interpretations.

  • tom

I dont focus much on defence

  • 717

I’m sorry Jeremy. I tried. You have a lot of great fans. But you also have a lot of crazy, ignorant ones. And they’re very vocal.

  • kauaiblue

  • Lin Win

We need them to secure the wins. We are losing far too many players and Al doesn’t look like himself anymore.

    Bye bye ?

  • Phoenix Rising

Also Batum and Walker don’t stink. I feel they are average players who believe they are above average (with a lot of convincing from FO, no doubt) and stop playing team ball for crucial possessions. When in fact, these 2 would only be considered above average if they can take their passing to the next level.

  • LinMad

bye whoever u are who only showed up once

that does not explain why Ronnie or even JC starting over Lin as they weren’t even good defensive PGs. Especially JC. JC was a shoot first type of PG. In fact he played more like a SG.

Linsanity happened because stars got injured. When Melo and Stat couldn’t play, Lin became much more engaged and sharpened his resolve.

Lamb is just too raw comparing to Lin. He may have potential but his years in the Thunder are nothing comparing to Lin’s years of being abused. Lin has grown up much faster than him.

For this to happen, Brett Brown needs to step aside.
Brett Brown is in a very awkward situation. He knows that he was victimized but the lack of offense in his team is a fact. The plays are not very interesting and he’s widely recognized as the coach running a losing team with no improvements. Yeah, he needs to step aside for MDA.

  • Acbc

Unfortunately fans and players get hooked on only the surface of things and can’t or won’t appreciate the depth of the game. It’s like an iceberg floating on water or a giant tree standing tall. The foundations of those things is hidden and equally powerful, if not more powerful. A tree can bend in wind becuase of the strength of its roots and an iceberg tip seems benign but don’t ever challenge it head on.

In tennis, I coach my players to focus on the neutralizing points and not ” get drunk on power” on the beautiful placement winners or overhead smash. The real meat of a tennis match is in the neutralizing shots that establishes your dominance in the match. It wears out your opponents resolve until they mentally hit a wall.

This is what Jeremy Lin does so well. He neutralizes opponents attack and take a miss shot and turns it up court so fast that even if he only makes 70% conversion on them, the mental pressure he applies to their offence weakens their resolve because they must keep one foot ready to run back. Lin then on offence is probing with ball in hand to undress the defence while creating the prefect timeline for one of his teammates to score. Lin may not fill the stat sheets, but he is the root of their success.

People don’t appreciate that subtleness of Lin’s game. His strength is unseen like the radiating roots of a supple tree. It’s only after he leaves the team and the roots of that tree dies that the team topples. Even in subtraction, the subtle news of the Linning affect is totally lost to the masses.

  • Lin Win

Stop with the Linsanity garbage. Batum is the player right now proving to everyone that he’s the biggest acquisition this year. If Lin had Batum’s stat line right now I bet every Lin fan would be shouting Linsanity.

    Batum is 16.3ppg 4.9apg 6.6rpg 1.1stlpg 84.9 FT% at 42.1%FG and 0.371% at the 3.

Only criticism you could draw on him is his TOs and maybe defense.

Heck you guys were talking how good Lin is at blocking but his stat line is only 0.7BLKPG while Batum is 0.6BLKPG

Batum’s stat line is better than Lin’s apart from TOPPG.

What GM is going to look at those numbers and say they’ll pick Lin over Batum? Build around Lin over Batum?

Lin has had 3 coaches now and yet we are still blaming coaches? Look at Lin’s improvements?

    Lin’s

    ppg

    apg

    FT%

    3P%

    FG%

    Mins

    STL

are pretty much dropping every year while Batum went from

    9.4ppg 4.8appg 5.9rpg 40%FG 32.4 3P%

    to

    16.3ppg 4.9apg 6.6rpg 42%FG 37.1 3P%

    in ONE YEAR.

Stop babying Lin ! Like I said last year with Kobe’s stat line. If his stat line was with another player’s name would he be treated the same? Heck No and the same goes for Lin.

For all i know none of us has the credentials to even criticize coaches.

Sick of all these blind fans that just aren’t realistic and I bet some of you guys don’t even play basketball competitively.

What’s even more funny was that there were even fans here arguing that Lin didn’t travel when it was blatantly obvious.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Ask BS who doesn’t even have a clue.

  • Ben Johnson

Great post man…it has been said before that JLin has been grossly underrated throughout his career because his 1 on 1 skills are weak and he doesn’t really show his dominance until it’s 5 on 5 ball…the way that JLin is able to exert his will on the team both offensively and defensively is something that very few players in the NBA possess….it’s a shame that many GMs are reluctant to see this…

  • Ben Johnson

I don’t think anyone here is dissing Batum’s talent…when healthy, he’s a top 5 SF, and a top 40-50 player in the league….too bad he’s playing out of position due to Cliffie’s and Cho’s absurd experiment, and is being asked to NOT play intense defense (which is also absurd)…oh, and non-advanced stats in BBall are not really that useful when it comes to gauging a player’s impact on winning (Batum’s advanced stats are still slightly better than Jeremy’s this year, I will concede)

  • Ben Johnson

Jeremy continues to creep up the ESPN RPM ladder, now at #18 for PGs

  • grover chang

A very poetic description of Lins game. I love it. How do we make this a featured comment.

  • joyce ward

Nic Batum is injured again? Eric Bledsoe torn meniscus again” These are the guys with the super ego contracts..smh

  • Acbc

I guess you must have missed the one game when Batum was out and Lin took his place. It’s amazing what happens when a coach sets up plays for you and empower you to score.

The one game Lin gets to be the man and he makes good just as he’s done in Houston and NYC.

I saw that video and Lin did travel.

I was a starter pg in highschool so give it a rest. I’ve taught and coached tennis and have been involved with sports all my life. I’ve studied sports psychology for many years so I know the game.

  • Lin Win

Goodjob on Lin’s 35pts game of the season. I’m not taking any credit away from it but look at Batums?

I guess you must have missed the games where Batum carried the load and won games?

He’s had double doubles and triple doubles. Season highs 28pts 33pts 11ast games.

When has Lin got 10ast this season?

Don’t bring me back to NYK days because those days are gone. No one will care what he’s down back in NYK when they are recruiting new players on their team.

Good on you for knowing the game. Never said you didn’t but I know some of the guys here don’t know anything about it and just follow Lin because of national pride.

If you honestly think that Lin’s one 35 points game is better than what Batum has contributed to the team then you really should learn the game again. Scratch that! If you take Lin over Batum as of right now in this season then you need to relearn the game.

  • Lin Win

People here are not even aware about how much Batum has contributed to this team. They bash Batum solely on the fact that he doesn’t really pass to Lin.
There are lots of form of defense! You can argue about defense all you want but there isn’t a proper indicator that can judge it except for STLs,BLKs and Rebounds. On that stat sheet BLKPG Batum is only 0.1 below Lin but Batum’s STL is 1.1 while Lin is 0.7STLPG.

  • FSW

Thanks for your insightful rant but I enjoy acbc posts because they are well written and intelligent.
Why don’t you give us some standardized numbers like per 36min for comparison, but thanks again.

I am sorry Jeremy. We tried (to be fair and rational). But you have so many bone-head haters with
no reason (or is there really with only one reason ?), even though they
seem knowledgeable and seem smart and seem fair and seem always know you
can’t go left and you can’t defend and you are TO machine and you can’t
… and they are so interested in you (in a negative way).

Fortunately for you and those haters, you have vocal and
non-vocal, reasonable and sometimes too outspoken die-hard fans with non-racial,
    non-radical, hate-superstar, hate-ball-hogger, hate-bad-ref-calls, fact-based yet sometimes
biased towards truth and justice attitudes. So bear with us, Jeremy.

Good or bad, we are here with Jeremy. No matter what those haters say about you. We will defend and rebuke (if it is not true). If Lin has a bad game, we all admit Lin playing bad. But hey, basketball is a 5 vs 5 sports with offense and defense that any player can be good or bad, depending on how you look at.

So haters, this is a Lin fan site. Not a basketball strategy debate forum or a Lin-Sxxx site. So, please leave this paradise alone.

Have you played any sports at all? Batum has more assists becuase he’s the designated QB. That’s right, he gets to MAKE assist becuase he has the ball in hand. How does Lin even get to pass the ball when he is mostly the receiver of the ball.

You really should learn the game first before talking.

  • JJ Hui

Make sure you read from top to all the way down, in between advertisements and pass all the advertisements too!

This is Lin fan site, why r u here? I knew you are not Lin fan since stone age!

  • JJ Hui

Exactly! If Lin have coach n FO cater to him, the whole scenario will be different!

  • JJ Hui

I think the answer for you is start a Batum fan site and enjoy your happiness there! This is our Lin fans site!

    Sonnet for Jeremy Lin

I wish I could sit there with you, supporting
Give you hope, peace and strength for all you’ve been thru
You faced several struggles and I feel for you,
Then I found the right way to help you: praying.

Every morning I am down on my knees begging,
You can play your brand of basketball; or that your crew
Find a trade to the coach who really loves you
Cause when you’re on the corner, I feel like crying.

But then my heart is at peace ’cause Christ is your guidance
Whole your life he’s been telling: “Believe in Me?“
He tested your faith and forged your character
As long as you’re in Him you’re the real winner

And don’t you worry, you’ll win on the court, believe it,
The bigger the struggle, the more glorious the triumph.

  • it really depends if Batum won’t start

It will be super interesting for sure

  • 20+pts if Batum can’t play would be good against Kobe & Byron Scott.
It will be a statement game

  • CaliUSMC

Yes, I was a Marine went to job school there in 2005. Haha. All Meridian had was a mall with a movie theater. Hated that place! lol

  • Phillycheese

Ok, means more minutes for Lin and Lamb hopefully.

  • Phillycheese

I care. As a fan, I want to watch him play. Just think, once he’s done, there may be no more like him to cheer for.

  • sport

with the 40 minutes games Batum and Walker are playing, I won’t be surprised if both will be out before the season ends.

  • Phillycheese

Dragic is not putting up huge numbers this year beside Wade. Surprise, surprise. Beside a ball dominant SG will hurt PG stats. Beside a good big will do the opposite and inflate stats – see Rondon and Jackson.

  • sport

Refs will with their phantom fouls but refs don’t respect Kobe anymore.

  • sport

Al does more harm than good for the team with his post ups and slow ball game no thank you! Team was playing fast paced and better without him!

  • Phillycheese

How about we start a Lakers thread.

  • Acbc

You look at stats like someone mesmerized by the fruits of a tree, that’s what stats are. How that tree is supported from the roots up makes that tree bare fruit. Ask yourself this, why is it that the games have the cycle of the starters losing and then BF1 comes in to put the team back ahead? Why has the team repeatedly gone on to put the game out of reach when the starters are in too long in the third quarter?

The health of the team is like the health of the tree. If you focus on just the fruit, you miss what makes the fruit come to bare.

  • Lin Win

Yeah sad to see such a skilled low post player play like that when we vsed Mem.

  • Lin Win

Likewise if Lin’s stats were reversed I bet everyone would all be yapping about numbers.

The stupidest reasons I’ve heard Lin’s shooting isn’t good is because he gets iced. Really? You think Clifford really wants to ice their hot players? You think Lin is the only player that get’s benched?

There are a lot of factors that come into play about starters sucking.
Main reason is that our bench vs the other team’s bench not starters vs bench therefore the stats that are generated aren’t exactly controlled.

Secondly Charlotte’s bench is much deeper than most benches in the NBA. Spurs for instance has a strong and deep bench.

Thirdly you have PJ Hairston starting.

  • Lin Win

I think the answer for you is to look from different perspectives. Just because this is a Lin fan site doesn’t mean you have to blindly praise a player.
Please don’t reply to my posts because you have already proven to me how logical you are.
“Lin is in the NBA, you’re not” so we aren’t allowed to criticize his game.

  • Lin Win

I’ve probably played more sports than most people here/

“Batum has more assists becuase he’s the designated QB. . That’s right, he gets to MAKE assist ”
    Really?
Anyone in the team can make assists, it’s about your ability to look for easy buckets. To me Lin hasn’t had much success in this department because his patterns are so predictable now.

You really need to learn the game lol “comparing apples to oranges” when you are using football analogies on basketball.

“honestly, I don’t even care if the Hornets make the playoffs because they’ll get bounced in 4 if they cater to KW and Batum as the only options on the team while playing lion share of minutes.”

And that proves to people that you aren’t a true NBA fan.
Lin plays for the team while you play for your bragging rights.
There’s no reason to even blame skin color or politics because Yao Ming has done it and he’s respected by most players of the game.

Batum is doing a lot better than our franchise golden boy. I rather have Batum as the franchise player than Kemba.
As of right now Batum is playing like what Lin was suppose to when he was brought in.

  • wu kong

My dad retired there he was navy flight school instructor. Way before you were there I hated it too. Moved away as soon as I could. It is much worse now. Still some family there. Car navigation system constantly says “entering unverified area”. Haha.

  • blaznazn22

people should actually look at the stats, per 36, per game…they’re almost exactly the same for jlin and batum. Batum is overrated…if lin got as many shots in the game, he would do same as batum or better., just looking at the shooting efficiency of both players

  • Acbc

I simply can’t argue with your reasoning.

but judging by how you feel so strongly about Batum, maybe you should change your name to “Batum wins” because so far, all I’ve heard from you is Batum wins in any category to Lin.

  • FSW

yeah but not as much on the ppg – now 16.8 vs 17.1.
let’s see at the end of the season.
lin is on the ascendant curve and datum is declining after his hot start, both will be around their lifetime averages is my guess by the end of the season
enjoy your life and don’t be so angry if Lin does not meet your expectations lol

  • Sir Charles

Kemba is playing well. Objectively there’s no argument there.

It can be argued that Lin makes his teammates better resulting in more wins but that’s purely hypothetical.

If Lin continues to improve his shooting an argument can be made to prioritize Lin but as you said Kemba has great handles

  • martan267

Actually, I think he left off his middle name “No” as in Lin No Win. I had a discussion with him in an earlier thread and he was saying how Lin couldn’t guard Steph Curry worth a darn…. So, after this later discussion on Batum vs Lin, why is he on this site with that kind of handle??

  • adele

Wow. A courtesy and a bow. Worthy of respect and admiration. Thanks for sharing.

  • adele

Im with you on this. Keep it up. And thanks for voicing out our opinions.

  • adele

Some kind of strategy. 🙂 but he is so obvious in his blogs.

  • grover chang

Everything sounded pretty good except for the part about the team is better with walker starting over Lin. Maybe saying that makes us feel better but Lin is the best pg in the league.

No way having the best pg sit on the bench is good. Walker is a small shooting guard. Hornets starters have no ball movement like the rockets but they are worse which is probably why they lost to them.

  • heart

Yep. He’s obviously using Lin’s name as a Decoy.

  • heart

Using Lin’s name as a “Decoy”, but if we examine carefully most of what he said in his blog is a slice against Lin.

  • adele

    True

  • martan267

Very possibly… It just seems that he keeps finding Lin sorely lacking when compared to other players. Is he really a Lin Fan or is he an undercover “Not a Lin Fan” and is trying to fake us out into thinking that he’s objective while coming up with ways to show how Lin is not up to par with other players and to have others start to doubt that Lin is any good. So far, I’ve noticed his comments on Lin not good enough in defense and Acbc, and LinMad mentioned his constant harping about Lin not being good enough in playmaking and shooting/stats and free throws.

Like I said, does he really think “Lin = Win” when every other player he compares him with is better than Lin?

  • heart

Yep. Acbc and LinMad did a good job of dismantling his arguments.
