G23 BOS @CHA Game Thread

What a wonderful game from JLin with the highest +/- at +25 to spark a 40-24 run to close the half. The win helped the Hornets to stay as #2 in the Eastern Conference. Otherwise they would’ve fallen to #7 This is a second game in the Back-to-Back games but thankfully, Celtics also had an exhausting 2OT game in a loss vs GSW last night.

  1. Would Jeremy Lin have enough left in the tank to play good defense and offense? His shooting looked much better and comfortable but the 2nd half still looked iffy so the stiffening back injury might be the contributing problem
  2. Will Jeremy rock the same Fifth Element hairstyle? I’d say don’t change it if it works for him ๐Ÿ™‚

.ย Letโ€™s go, JLin!ย Let’s continue to shoot at least 8FG ย & 4 FT attempts. Relax, be your aggressive self & just play your game on matter what happens

    GAME DAY!!!!!!!!

  • CJSHYY
  • takemeback2reaganyears

There’s no doubt that Lin will decline the final year contract with the Hornets to exercise his free agency again.

  • Maknusia

Pictures from Memphis Game are on previous thread

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Wondering what’s next for his hair?

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    …then 3 days off. ๐Ÿ™

  • Arsenium12 .

Because of the double-overtime game against the Warriors last night, the Celtics’ flight was an hour and a half late in getting out of Boston. They landed in Charlotte at 2:13 AM.

The Hornets arrived back from Memphis at 1 AM.

  • It will certainly make business sense to exercise his player option to consider all offers on the table.

The major hindrance of JLin coming back next season are:
    1. Playing Time with MKG coming back
    2. The uncertainty of how Kemba/Batum/Lin will orchestrate offense. Will Batum come back?

The Pros are: great coaching, good fit with his fast PnR style, unselfish team, great dynamics, winning team.

It will be a tough choice depending on how attractive other offers will be. But that’s for later.
For this season, winning, getting #1-4 seed and great playoff performance by JLin will only help create more options for him.

  • More sleep for the Hornets =]

  • takemeback2reaganyears

and winning give you better sleep too.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yeah, what’s next will be something to talk about in the off season. It’ll be a tough decision for him and his family.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Another recording breaking involved Lin:

He also has explosiveness. The Hornets set a franchise record Friday by making 18 3-pointers. The previous record was 15. Nine different Hornets made at least one 3.

  • no doubt about it

  • joyce ward

So the bench provided 59 points and the starters 64 points. This is something that makes you go hmmm.

  • CJSHYY
  • sws94

I think Joe and Jeremy are just having fun with their hair.

  • sws94

I don’t get that comment. I don’t know what Lin will do when the time comes so the “no doubt” of it makes little sense to me. I think there’s always a lot to weigh including him saying he wants consistency and one way for consistency is to stick with the same team more than one season. But there may be other things that makes him explore free agency including what happens with Batum.

  • sws94

Yes, the MKG part of the equation will affect Lin and may make him move. That I agree with. I think what you list all play into it. But really, it’s down the road. I’m really into Lin’s expanding role and team chemistry right now. A lot of folks are looking forward to end of season and next season. I see uncertainty. I see him doing more and more every game and am excited by that.

  • sws94

Thanks, they are excellent as always.

  • you’re correct. I’m also enjoying how happy he plays in an unselfish and winning team. Let’s enjoy the ride and see how far they can achieve their potential this season.

With a LOT of winning & deep playoff run, MJ will see things differently of what the core of the team should be. I’m excited about that =)

  • sws94

Great. The Philly thing, first I don’t like the losing culture there. Second, even if MDA is the coach, I’m not sure about Okafor, his character and if he is really the type of big that is that compatible with Lin. It’s just another set of challenges. With MDA, he knows the system but team chemistry is impossible to predict. And maybe a lot of winning has to do with players buying in and having chemistry.

I like known quantities. I know about Cliff more now and he has the players buying in. McHale didn’t do that, Byron certainly didn’t do that. He antagonized and belittled players and they are glad to be gone from playing for him. Woodson wasn’t great for Lin. Since MDA, in my opinion, Clifford has been good for him and I also like that he expands his defensive game. In my opinion, you learn something from everyone, and I think Clifford and Silas can help Lin further refine his game. Therefore, with those factors, I’m leaning towards wanting Lin to stay with the Hornets for 2 seasons. I think Cliff is acceptable and Lin can work his way into 27 minutes or so maybe starting in a few weeks average MPG excluding blowouts.

Unlike others, I’m fine with him as game breaker, changer, in fact, that role makes a lot of sense for me. I have a lot of flexibility on whether or not he impacts the game more as starter or from the bench and I see strong arguments that as a bench player, he has at least as much impact and sometimes more. As long as he is used enough and as a leader out there enough. And Clifford seems to be slowly moving in that direction.

  • Briiick

That’s not a question. I think Hornets are facing a lot of uncertainties just as we are. One thing I know is that Hornets are not like LAL or Rox, they seem to adjust when pressured by fans, e.g., Lin fans.

  • Steppen03

Two Things for JL7 to come back as Hornets: #1. The Hornets Vs The Cavs in EC Finals. And also, #2) Offered a $30M for 3yr Contract. **Just having fun… But yeah, I’m ALL IN If Hornets get those for JLin.

  • CJSHYY

    I think so.

  • TTNN

and they sleep at home, no need to check in hotel

  • adele

Good indication. Still not off the hook. To them, as long as their Kemba is scoring and will be an all star, they can give minutes to Lin but then his energy will be used more on defense.

  • TTNN

I don’t think they are pressured by fans. That’s just their adjustments, and the adjustments is to make the team better, which agrees with Lin fans.

  • Phoenix Rising

Regardless of whether he wants to stay with Hornets, unless he gets seriously injured, Lin will decline the option. That is the only purpose of the option, insurance for Lin against injury. I don’t think Lin (and even Hornets) take the 2nd year @ $2 mn seriously (based on what I’ve seen in NBA contracts over the years and what I’ve heard both parties say in media)

  • JoeTeam

That’s not far from 23. Lin and steph both touched that. Harden too I guess lol.

Listen to nba radio year one, where they follow a rookie through the season. Frank the tank says if they make the finals he will come to the game on a tank.

He also says if Lin tags you on his tweet the response goes on and on. He mentioned jlinportal as one of Lin followers.

Frank also mention chipotle as a favorite place which is likely why he stays close to Lin. LOL.

  • 1mtoldman

celtics 3 and 1 on zero days rest; actually their most success (small sample size) and one of the few teams in the league with a winning road record.

also (as noted above) along w/ hornets 2 of 4 best point differentials in the east.

  • sws94

I’m reading that the Celtics are a tough matchup, both starters and bench and it won’t be easy tonight from the Hornets boards. They may be tired and flat but if not, it could be a tough matchup. But, we’ll see. The Hornets are on a roll now but the Celtics took the Warriors into 2 OTs.

  • jakey

I will try that, thank you.

  • Singapore BB Fan

Celtic’s strategy is to take out Hornets key player, Jeremy Lin.
How? Simply put Lin in foul trouble early. Who should be the bait? None other than Isiah Thomas.

  • sws94

Bradley is a tough defender. Doubling Lin with Bradley and another defender if Lin gets hot can happen.

You can’t just take out Lin, you have to deal with Batum and Kemba. Grizzlies tried to take them out of the game in the first quarter but Kemba is the one that broke through then Lin went Hairsanity and really got the team out of the hole and gave the lead. Tonight, if something similar happens, Lin may have to do it differently by setting up Lamb and Kaminsky but we have to see what develops.

  • DX

Hornets must win this game, if not will drop to 5.

  • sws94

They’ll lose some. When teams are separated by 1.5 games, then a loss here or there puts them up a few slots or down a few. Just win as many as you can while the teams separate themselves. If they don’t, we are in for an ultra-exciting seeding in the East towards the playoffs.

  • occupatio

the PG matchups will be very interesting tonight.

  • jeremy

2 tiny iso PGs with crazy handles

the thing to watch is who stevens decides to put avery bradley on if lin and kemba play together.

  • occupatio

i dislike isiah thomas. he always tries to punk Lin when he’s in the game.

  • sws94

There is a huge difference in Kemba’s height vs. IT. Kemba really isn’t a short PG.

  • DX

I wonder why? Because they are short? :))))

  • Steppen03

GO, LAKERS! Let’s put this one in the bag!

  • DX

Lin can toast short PG as well. Like Brooks!

  • occupatio

i dont think of barea is playing much different against lin.

but nate and IT, def yes.

  • DX

Good one, but bark louder it means weaker.

  • 1mtoldman

many hornet fans feel walker is actually significantly shorter than his listed height. he does look really small. but like or dislike it he is already the 2nd best little man legitimate offcially heighted player in the history of nba behind only calvin murhpy the pocket rocket; so its something. (5 9 and under)

Lin played 15 in 1st half. Amazing!

  • zxcvb

Nice all-around half by Lin. Hopefully, we’ll get to see “Mr. 4Q” tonight. Too many blowouts of late.

As usual, starters were weak but Lin led them back (team-high +9).

I like Lin off the bench better, that way he gets to run the 2nd unit more.. as long as he gets 32 minutes a game thats fine

  • DX

Agreed, but won’t happen before extend Lin’s contract.

  • blubell

    Lest hope so

  • stam

Lin went straight for 15 mins with no rest.

  • Linsanity2.0

he can do it.. he can go 24 minutes no rest

  • Linsanity2.0

have they even got 1 this year?

  • cdblue10

Christmas Day is not a bad idea

  • Linsanity2.0

    you spoke too soon

  • CJSHYY

    Not yet.

  • Linsanity2.0

celtics announcer is hillarious.. hes such a celtics homer

  • takemeback2reaganyears

1/2 time off topic, pick your poison lakers or rockets to win?

  • cdblue10

It’s ok I judged him too soon also

  • Linsanity2.0

whats the link to celtics channel?

  • kauaiblue

    Lakers

  • blubell

I think one game in April

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Lin has been blocking shots.

  • Hope

Lin watching from bench thinking I’m going to drive in every time since shot not falling.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Haha

  • LinMad

    uhhh, Rockets

  • cdblue10

    They’ll cancel each other out,they’ll both lose…lol

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    LIke that

  • blubell

Too late for that but wouldn’t that be awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

  • DX

    Rockets, since BS and Kobe.

  • LinMad

Cliff is probably really glad he has a bench led by Lin. Start of season, it looked like Cliff tried Batum or Kemba running the bench which is why Lin barely got any touches/minutes.

  • blubell

    Blocksanity!

  • Rzo Vlade

lakers cause they are already out so if rockets lose thats 2 birds in 1 stone

  • kauaiblue

    Nah, hate rox even more…

  • NONONO

I thought Lin would get a lot of ASG votes from China. But i looked one major NBA vote forum, no Lin. most of them for Kobe. What a surprise. I think somehow so much Kobe commercials for so many years in China helped Kobe.

  • Lin Win

Rockets will win for sure. If they lose to those Fakers then they’ll be a laughing stock!
Can’t wait for Dwight vs Kobe fight!

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Yeah bs is so bad

  • cdblue10

    I know

  • Dorothy

    Link please.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Charlotte has led in all categories in the first half and yet they lead only by 5 points.

  • LinMad

Do they even know what happened between Kobe and Lin?

  • blubell
  • jolno

I hope they played record breaking 100th overtime and both team forfeit the game so they both lost LOL.

  • CJSHYY

Kobe? smh! But it’s his last year …

  • Lin Win

China doesn’t even care about Lin.
    Kobe = China
Kobe sold more jerseys than Yao Ming in his prime.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Nice a r t

  • LinMad

he needs to add another one. Today’s hairstyle is different.

  • occupatio

after lin broke the defense down with penetration 3 times in a row, you could see stevens adjust. help defenders sagging down to paint when lin gets past the screen set for him.

  • cdblue10

    Nobody can top this one…lol

  • CJSHYY

No. Don’t think they care. China loves Kobe.

  • NONONO
  • your son’s voltaire

anyone got the Lin/Gasol exchange from last night?

  • cdblue10

    The HAIRS!!!!!!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Lin is playing starter minutes.

  • Dorothy

    Thx

  • kauaiblue

    What happen3d?

  • DX

Today is like 2 last tow mixed.

  • cdblue10

    Energy…I like that MW

  • NONONO

laughed each other about a foul.

  • your son’s voltaire

it was a flagrant foul by PsychoT on Gasol, and then Lin/Gasol had a friendly exchange.. joking about how Lin got hit in the face

  • best defensive player .. hands down

  • CJSHYY

Weird. I thought Lin always got #1 vote by fans in China why not for ASG?

  • cdblue10

    Zeller

  • NONONO

no energy for starters!!! wake up

  • DX

Not so many fans in China mainland, most in Taiwan.

  • JJ Hui

Does anyone know who passed away in Celtic’s organization? I saw their players wearing a black tape on their jerseys.

  • lol .. Zeller with a nice, non-chalant layup

    Beautiful!

  • LinJa

I’m at lakers vs rox game lol missing the game

  • sport

He’s resting now hope he comes back in very soon.

  • Linsanity2.0

    Rod Williams

  • CaliUSMC

omg the boston game is on right now? I thought it was Monday. God Im retarded.

  • Linsanity2.0

    and Jim Loscutoff

  • NONONO

timeout for a rest? Let Lin give them a lesson.

  • DX

Maybe because Yao Ming only played 8 seasons. I don’t agree Kobe = China. MJ was having more fans than Kobe.

  • Linsanity2.0

    youre at the game live?

  • blubell

Why would you do that to yourself? Lol

  • khomphuong2

have fun. Hope Lakers win for one.

  • CaliUSMC

    Foreal~

  • LinMad

    cody is good

  • stam

Walker didn’t even jump to defend that shot….

  • Love watching the attacking Zeller
    2 beautiful layups

  • LinMad

starters aren’t moving off the ball as much as bench does

  • JJ Hui

Who? Please be more specific please, thanks!

  • Starters lack defensive energy

  • Dorothy

    Enjoy it.

  • if they’re tired, bench will do the job

  • NONONO

    – for all starters

  • LinJa

Tix is free, man they got a lot of Kobe fans here. I’m at bottom level

  • cdblue10

Bring Lin in to check Bradley

  • John Focker

    Deja vu…

  • NONONO

    OMG Cliff, do something!

  • sport

Lin should come in now, Cliff being stubborn again!

  • this starting lineup is not doing it. 55-61
    Clifford needs to do something

  • cdblue10

Cliff are you brain dead too on this game?

  • Linsanity2.0

This would be time to bring in LIN

  • JJ Hui

KW playing well Hornets might be in trouble, Lin playing well Hornets definitely doing well because Lin involves team mates, KW hogging n sink the team!

  • kauaiblue

Walker gets these foul calls that jlin never gets!

  • Linsanity2.0

    TAKE KEMBA OUT NOW!

  • LinMad

I think Cliff plans to playy LIn 15 minutes straight

  • stam

That is BS on kemba walker… he was fouled 2 times.

  • CaliUSMC

    why kemba get the T?

  • Hope

News lin in now to right this ship.

  • NONONO

Dose Cliff think Lin could clean up whatever mess the starters left.

  • Lin Win

    Nice hail mary from Walker

  • Kwok Wai Lai

First team starts to suck again.

  • blubell

    Lin coming in

  • LinMad

Lin can shut down IT easily

  • DX

    Kemba can’t guard IT.

  • Kemba is letting IT got hot

  • John Focker

All starters double digit negative in the +/- department.

  • occupatio

as usual, cliff sticks with the starters too long in 3Q. fail.

  • blubell

    IT on fire

  • kauaiblue

    Bad coaching…

  • Kemba brought the lighter *sigh*

  • Lin Win

    AHAHAH H KEmba getting burned

  • John Focker

    Kemba can’t guard anyone.

  • cdblue10

    Take them out Cliff

  • your son’s voltaire

IT and kemba are mirror images of each other, but IT is just better

  • cshot

    kemba can’t guard isiah

  • stam

They need to shut down isiah

  • CJSHYY

Hornets plays not that good… what’s wrong?

  • LinMad

man we really need this win

  • CaliUSMC

If Boston wins this game tonight. Mcgregor is gonna beat Aldo. Called it

  • John Focker

    Kemba D…or lack thereof.

  • LinMad

Put Lin on IT, problem solved

  • DX

The biggest mistake is starters dig the hole too big.

  • Hornets starter perimeter D allowed 7 out 8 threes in the 3rd quarter?
    A lot of uncontested 3s

  • NONONO

Cliff put unnecessary heavy minutes on Kemba would hunt Hornets sooner or later.

  • stam

    nice D by Lin again.

  • 808JL7

    Come on BF1!!!

  • Lin Win

I laughed when all the highlights for the Celtics have Kemba in the frame

  • blubell

    Kemba needs to sit.

  • John Focker

Politic-driven coaching will be Hornets’ undoing.

  • sport

Walker can’t defend a fly needs to rest and let Lin play PG!

  • Linsanity2.0

Clifford riding Kemba too long.. he needs to be more like Brad Stevens.. hes not afraid to take any player out

  • Linsanity2.0

Brad Stevens > Steve Clifford he is getting outcoached

  • Linsanity2.0

Brad Stevens is a top 5 coach

  • heart

What took Cliff so long to take a time out allowing Celtics get into rhythm?

  • adele

Because he is Clifford. Don’t worry, he is a smart coach according to majority here.

  • CaliUSMC

Lin assist to Lamb for 3

  • Lin to Lamb for 333!!

  • stam

    Yes!! Lamb for 2

  • blubell

    Jeremys!

  • LinMad

    There we go!

  • John Focker

I missed the first half and most of third quarter, doing dishes and chatting with my girls about She-ra, and that was more entertaining and mind-inspiring than Hornets starters’ play. Seriously.

  • Hornets need to cut the lead to single digit by end of Q3

  • grover chang

I be surprised if they won. Hole too big. As in Jerry McGuire, for Lin it is “Help me Help you!”

  • blubell

    BF1 getting it done

  • JJ Hui

KW is the trouble, now the flow is good and scoring!

  • Batum 3… 69-73 =)

  • blubell

    Batum on fire

  • wow.. Kemba-less lineup is so potent =)

  • sport

Batum went ball hog mode but at least he made shots.

  • cdblue10

    Batuuuummmmm

  • LinMad

good stuff, lead is only 4 now.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The 2nd unit came in and helped closing the gap to single digit; trailed by only 4 points by good D.

  • stam

batum playing well but now he’s going to think he is point guard

  • blubell

Kemba sits and we’re catching up

  • LinMad

he’ll do it until he fails. I want to see Batum pass to a back cutting Lin

  • Linsanity2.0

    BATUMMMM heating up quick

  • Linsanity2.0

stick with this lineup until the end of game

  • occupatio

    pure coinwinkydink

  • I only expected Hornets to cut to 8-9pt lead by end of Q3
But this is great. Only trailing 4pts!

  • your son’s voltaire

yup. i’d rather they lose if he plays like that. needs to learn what’s right from wrong

  • sport

Walker and Al both needs to go. Lin and Batum to lead this team.

  • Linsanity2.0

Isaiah Thomas 17 pts 12 assists. Kemba 11 pts 4 ast on 3/9 shooting

getting outplayed by the shortest guy in the league

  • 1mtoldman

well often he is the point guard actually usually when kemba is out and batum is in batum is the point guard. lin or no lin.

  • Hope

Tempo changes the minute lin is the pg.

  • sws94

Bradley on Lin. He’s a tough defender. Lin doing OK.

  • Linsanity2.0

    Trade Kemba for Dwight Howard

  • zxcvb

The Lin Effect. Just having him in there helps others and catch up.

Now we need Mr. 4th Quarter to heat up and win this.

  • 1mtoldman

but also the second best short guy in the history of the league.

  • occupatio

the no-kemba effect is just as powerful

  • LinMad

Lin would shut down IT defensively

  • sws94

I think it’s not a bad idea with Bradley hounding Lin. Lin is doing fine, in the flow.

  • John Focker

So it’s best to have both. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • stam

Avery playing good d on lin

  • blubell

    2222222

  • JJ Hui

    Lin on fire!

  • LinMad

    2 jumpers !!!

  • Lin Win

    KEMBA WHAT??!

  • cdblue10

    Lamb is killing the team

  • Linsanity2.0

LIN should have kept shooting! OMG

  • zxcvb

Lamb needs to get his head in the game — pass the ball, stop trying to statpad.

  • Linsanity2.0

Lin should have went for 3 in a row.. why did he stop

  • sport

Dwight can opt-out after this season right?

  • blubell

    Lets go Mr 4th quarter!

  • your son’s voltaire

    the uconn guys always do

  • Linsanity2.0

This is when Lin needs to get selfish

  • Hope

    Get every one involved

  • LinMad

Lamb needs to pass to Lin if he doesn’t know what to do with it

  • cdblue10

    Here you go Lamb finally

  • zxcvb

    Okay, Lamb, I see you.

  • 1mtoldman

    yes

  • Lamb should just shoot, not handle the ball so much

  • your son’s voltaire

that’s what Lamb needs to do.. use his length!! instead of trying to be a PG

  • blubell

    Laaaaaaamb

  • LinMad

    Lamb redeemed himself right there

  • JJ Hui

KW should sit till the end of game!

  • stam

    Wow Lin getting some calls.

  • Lin Win

    Kemba losing leads.
    Benceforce1 cutting leads.

  • cdblue10

    Nice D

  • CaliUSMC

    Is MJ on the sideline?

  • Linsanity2.0

    LIN SHUTTING DOWN THOMAS

  • Good Lin challenge cause IT to miss 3 badly

  • cdblue10

Or just shoot from the curls

  • sport

IT can’t score with Lin guarding him, haha made a backboard shot.

  • LinMad

That’s how u shut down IT

  • Linsanity2.0

Lin doing what Kemba Walker was supposed to do!

  • occupatio

im happy to see it. IT is a punk

  • zxcvb

Lin with a superb stop on IT, Kemba would have just watched him sink it.

Lin needs more help. Teammates not passing back. He’s so good they think they can take their time and statpad.

  • probably somewhere checking IT and Kemba height

  • John Focker

Still better than Kemba running the point.

  • Linsanity2.0

Lin time to take over .. THIS IS YOUR MOMENT!

  • sport

    Needs to make some shots!

  • blubell

And this why IT always try to punk Jeremy

  • your son’s voltaire

cus Lin always shut him down

  • Steppen03

    Let’s GO, WARRIORS!!
    GO, HORNETS!!

  • LinMad

    plus hes friends with Mayweather

  • CaliUSMC

    Lol. He is… smh

  • DX

Who said Lakers win? Now is 29-49.

  • 1mtoldman

and on the hand lin can blow by it anytime he wants. the difference offense and defense with lin/ it versus kemba it is dramatic.

  • blubell

    Attack!

  • stam

Fans liking lin as PG. i hope that lin didn’t get hurt.

  • CaliUSMC

    Lin be gettin calls son

  • Linsanity2.0

  • blubell

    Freebies!

  • cdblue10

    Important ft’s always goes in

  • LinMad

    isn’t David Lee Lin’s friend?

  • CaliUSMC

Lin is gonna drain a 3 soon.. I feel it

  • blubell

  • CaliUSMC

Whats up with all these 3’s man.. Run a playY

  • LinMad

Batum u were so behind the arc

  • CaliUSMC

    Kemba with the walk.

  • cdblue10

The Uconn guys are out of sink today

  • Linsanity2.0

Lin relegated to corner again … great

  • adele

Can’t afford to be outshined by Lin. Win or lose Kemba has to be in and get his stats.

  • sport

When walker comes in there’s no space for Lin to shoot.

  • LinMad

draw an easy bucket for Lin

  • Briiick

LW is going to lose it, so much for All Star padding.

  • CaliUSMC

IT has only made 3pts since Lin checked in

  • cdblue10

Kemba has no right to hold the ball at this time

  • occupatio

that kemba guy, tired of seeing him. hes done nothing tonight to help the team.

  • blubell

He’s a Walker… what did you expect? Lol

  • zxcvb

Time for Lin to get some screens and attack the rim. At least get FTs.

  • NONONO

No matter Hornets win or loss today, Cliff needs to get smarter next one

  • CaliUSMC

    ๐Ÿ˜€ N1

  • sws94

I think Lin driving and dishing or drawing fouls is in order now. Kemba is in bad Kemba mode now.

  • JJ Hui

Coach have to put KW in to sink eventhough he knows it! KW doesnt have Lin’s IQ not to insult him!

  • Uh-uh IT on Kemba again now

  • sws94

Batum is so-so tonight too. He had a nice stretch of hitting shots but he’s not making the best decisions tonight.

  • LinMad

18 fgs for Batum but hes making big shots

  • Kemba made a clutch 3
    89-88

    Hope he doesn’t hog

  • CaliUSMC

KW missed floater leads to 3 on 1 fast break.

  • Lin Win

    haha no touches for Lin

  • stam

Has Lin even touched the ball?

  • LinMad

Lin only one running back to defend

  • CaliUSMC

He has but he keeps stopping his dribble or defers

  • Kemba simply can’t guard IT *sigh*

  • cdblue10

Kemba should be the 6th man

  • zxcvb

Kemba and Batum hogging it. Gonna lose this…

  • Linsanity2.0

    Lin should be on IT..

  • sport

Not a good shot for Marvin Williams, Lin should’ve taken that shot after off rebound!

  • Linsanity2.0

Lin getting 0 touches again.. has to get an offensive rebound to get a touch

  • cshot

Lin needs to be matched up against Isiah.

  • MoominFloren

    He simply can’t guard anyone

  • Linsanity2.0

Sometimes I wonder if Clifford even knows what he is doing

  • occupatio

IT is guarding lin, and cliff doesnt run any play for lin. thats really stupid.

  • sport

Yet when he got the rebound he passes to someone else and they all miss!

  • NONONO

With Kw and Batum, Lin is in the corner again

  • Linsanity2.0

    terrible coaching

  • stam

I don’t think Isiah scored when lin was on him before walker checked in.

  • LinMad

no more 3s, we do not need 3s when the game is this close. Lin penetration is needed.

  • sws94

Yeah he should just drive in and put it up, try to draw the foul.

  • NONONO

why not bring Zeller in? i thought he was only starter played well today

  • heart

KW came back in and Hornets are down again. KW and NB only pass to each other?

  • sws94

It was an open look, it’s just Marv is cold tonight. Mark usually knocks that down.

  • blubell

    2222222222222

  • your son’s voltaire

  • CaliUSMC

    wow great D by Lin..

  • Lin Win

    4th Q Lin!

  • sport

    IT with the flop!!

  • zxcvb

Great D and O by Lin. Kemba suuuuucks. So selfish.

  • LinMad

no push on Lin but push on IT?

  • CaliUSMC

Yeah he got a bail call

  • occupatio

every time kemba shoots, his defender IT goes to other end to make a play.

  • CaliUSMC

Why would Kemba take that? omg he wasn’t even settled

  • Lin Win

Kemba gets blocked and we lose leads again!

  • cshot

Lin was wide wide wide open

  • sport

Walker is so selfish, Lin was wide open for a 3!!

  • JJ Hui

This is KW and coach lost!

  • NONONO

    KW BALL

  • cshot

    LIN WAS SO WIIIIIIIIIIIDE OPEN

  • NONONO

    Kemba ball all over.

  • Lin Win

Live by Kemba die by keemba

  • heart

KW w/low bb IQ, should have taken it to the basket himself or pass to Lin for him to do so.

  • Linsanity2.0

Lin wide open and Kemba doesnt pass.. what a ball hog

  • your son’s voltaire

they really need to trade kemba for a real 3&D shooting guard and slide Lin back to his rightful position.. at the point guard

  • Linsanity2.0

Were going to lose games like these every time if Kemba plays hero ball

  • JJ Hui

But coach is love struck with KW!

  • zxcvb

More like live by Lin, die by Kemba.

Even last game it was LIN who brought them back. Kemba statpadded nicely.

  • Pete Roces

    great play by Kemba!

  • Lin Win

Kemba trying to be clutch but get’s burned!

  • Linsanity2.0

Trade Kemba for Wesley Matthews please

  • Promo Sports World

    Hero Ball

  • zxcvb

Already have lost 3-4 of them.

  • aras

woooow lasty 2 possesions there awful terribel awfterribble need to move the damn ball around .

  • blubell

Batum and Kemba taking turns trying to be heroes. …

  • zxcvb

Need some Lin magic, or else this is definitely lost.

  • sport

Depends on MJ especially after giving Walker that shoe deal.

  • blubell

    Good D again

  • cdblue10

Needs a quick 2 then foul

  • grover chang

    defensive stop by Lin!!!

  • zxcvb

Lin with ANOTHER huge stop on defense. He’s 1st team all-defense no question.

  • CaliUSMC

Dont worry guys. Lins gonna tie it up with a 3.

  • My guess is Kemba gets 1st option, Lin might be distant 3rd

  • spiderman

Kemba 4-14 but I assure you there will be zero mention of that in media

  • cshot

Lol stephanie ready makes me laugh

  • NONONO

Cliff or MJ’s pushing Kemba to All Stars, it would pay the big price.

  • grover chang

LOL, I want that just to see Celtics face on having to go into another OT.

  • Dorothy

no, Batum or Kemba will take the last shot

  • JJ Hui

This is stupid! With comfortable lead and then have to put in certain players to lose the game! And KW ballhog to kill it!

  • CaliUSMC

    DOUBLE OT

  • grover chang

    what she say

  • zxcvb

    Just go for two.

  • blubell

    Kemba -18. Jeremy + 13

  • CaliUSMC

    atleast kemba made it.

  • zxcvb

    -16! He’s on fire!

  • blubell

    Where is the whistle!

  • LinMad

    no jummp ball??????

  • zxcvb

    Definitely jumpball.

  • blubell

    The refs…

  • zxcvb

Gotta be a jumpball. Or at least a quick foul.

  • CaliUSMC

    Linsanity FOR THE 3…. WATCH

  • your son’s voltaire

    kemba had all wrists though

  • LinMad

refs screwed us in the butt

  • Linsanity2.0

I bet you Kemba going to shoot this one

  • zxcvb

Then it has to be a foul — with more time left on the clock.

  • sport

    Lin should take the 3!

  • cshot

    Lol TRAVELLLLLL

  • Linsanity2.0

    lets hope so

  • IT obviously traveled

  • zxcvb

Batum, IMO. Or maybe even Hawes? He has the touch tonight.

  • grover chang

    Of Course no argument here.LOL

  • sport

Lin or Batum, please not Walker.

  • occupatio

im not upset if hornets lose. lin can beat the other team but not his own coach’s decisons. not much lin can do.

  • your son’s voltaire

    bad non-call nonetheless

  • LinMad

    had to be a travel

  • blubell

Come on, Lin for the win!

  • zxcvb

If CHA loses this, it’s all on Kemba bad decisions and lazy defense.

  • blubell

    Jeremy got his stats tonight

  • grover chang

    Lin’s arch nemesis. The Bench.

  • CaliUSMC

pRETTY SURE LIN WAS OPEN. WAHTEVER

  • blubell

    Jeremy was wide open

  • Alain Gervais

    1 more pass

  • Linsanity2.0

    LOL

  • Carl Shula

    LOL

  • stam

LOL BATUM IS 2-10 from 3 pt line that was a bad shot.

  • your son’s voltaire

of course, Batum doesn’t pass it to wide open Lin

  • Linsanity2.0

WTF WAS THAT? Lin was wide open on the right

  • BAtum shot 2-9 today and they designed that long Batum 3?? *Sigh*

  • LinMad

why was that shot so far away?

  • CaliUSMC

Lin looked sad at the huddle lol

  • grover chang

I don’t blame Batum, that shot was like 50ft from the basket. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Lin Win

WHAT? THAAT FAR? ARE YOU FOR REAL?

  • zxcvb

He knows Kemba and Batum ruined his comeback win.

Everything was FINE until the “stars” ruined it. Terrible shot selection and defense.

  • blubell

There was time for a pass Batum…

  • Rick Johnson

Hornets had momentum before Walker came back in the 4 th.

  • CaliUSMC

Set up a 3 point play for Batum who is 2/10 on 3’s tonight.

  • jeremy

This team is not gonna go too as long as Batum thinks hes KD and Kemba thinks hes CP3

  • cdblue10

Wrong choice of players to shoot on the clutch moments ,Lin just touched the ball once since Crocodile Kemba enter the court

  • Linsanity2.0

Batum shot a 35 footer for no reason

  • DX

    What’s Batum doing?

  • CaliUSMC

    Game Ova

  • grover chang

boston played not 1 but 2 OT yesterday. tragic

  • aras

wooooow Lin was open….. one of those games

  • zxcvb

LOL, Nic. What an awful defender. He’s really lost it on that end.

  • NONONO

31 mins for Lin, no sweat! Cliff’s fault!

  • zxcvb

    Stevens >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Clifford

    GOTTA BENCH KEMBA SUCKER.

  • Tim Pham

positives: lin got his stats, played over 30 minutes and closed and hornets lose bc they never included lin the offensive mix towards the end……cons: lin didn’t get to do much at the crunch time.

  • stam

I really wonder if the coach is going to reprimand batum for that, they never pass to lin.

  • LinMad

well at least Lin wasn’t in for the last defensive play.

  • blubell

That’s it. Hero ball fails. Hornets lose a winnable game.

  • JJ Hui

Ok stupid coach and ball hog lost thos game ! Serve them right!!!

  • Lin Win

    Clutch! Kemba and Batum!

  • zxcvb

Another winnable game — probably 4-5 this season.

  • Lin Win

    No Lin No Win!

  • grover chang

Cliff should be yelling at himself, not the refs.

  • stam

They coudl have won this game without walker.

  • zxcvb

Stevens is so much smarter than Clifford it’s hilarious.

Brad plays chess. Cliff plays tic-tac-toe.

  • Linsanity2.0

WOW we gave this game away

  • Hope

    Did he get 30+ minutes

  • cshot

once again. lin wide open on the wing and batum tries to be steph with it

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Starters all -ve.
    The bench all +ve

  • Linsanity2.0

Stevens outcoached Clifford by a long shot

  • CJSHYY

They were doing well w/o Kemba… smh!

  • Briiick

Actually I knew this was coming, we have seen it too many times in Rox.

  • james brown

    doesn’t learn!!!!

they live and die with KW and Batum?

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Today they didn’t play that team ball as much as last game.

  • james brown

two bum plays: offensive and defensive!

  • blubell

    Almost 32

  • DX

Batum can’t be a leader or general , just good player.

  • LinMad

whatever, Lin played well today and brought the game back again. Franchise stars failed to tie the game. Refs screwed us.

  • jeremy

Kemba and Batum tried to win by themselves not gonna happen
Even the Golden states barely beat them last night
Neither of these guys are that good border line all star but thats about it
Stay committed to team ball or accept mediocracy
You aint no Kobe find the open man

  • LinJa

Glad Lin didn’t get any credit… For the loss lol

  • zxcvb

Kemba is such garbage. I hate this “all-star” talk. He’s total trash unless Lin is on the court to clean up his messes.

-20??? That’s slightly better than my Grandma would do. Statpadding 30 in games Lin wins for you is nothing.

  • John Focker

Clifford/Kemba got exactly what they deserved, Lin got decent stats, nothing to be upset about. sixth time it happened, not even upset anymore. (Hawks x2, Bulls, Knicks, Cavs, Celtics)

  • james brown

commentator said that’s a good shot and honrets can live with that shot by batum on dying seconds…what can we ask for more if everybody buys it!

  • Linsanity2.0

If Brad Stevens was the coach of the Hornets they would be 23-0

  • LinMad

so now we fall to what position?

  • cdblue10

I’m all in for Lin to go to Philadelphia…he’s ready to take over.

  • stam

Or let Lin play PG as kemba plays SG – he ain’t in for the defense i’ll tell you that.

  • Linsanity2.0

how many close games have we gave away now? thats at least 6 games we lost by 5 or less

  • zxcvb

Only good news — and it’s nice — is that Lin is now playing (on pace) for 28-32mpg.

With this usage, they were 4-1 with a close loss due to Kemba’s idiocy and Batum poor decisions.

  • james brown

6 seconds of a player who think is long time not to have a play for 3..but anyway maybe that’s the play of Cliff?

  • Linsanity2.0

Lin would be the star in Philly for sure

  • NONONO

    me all in too.

  • John Focker

Or Kidd. Realistically, 21-2 or 20-3. (Heat game 1, Spurs and/or Warriors)

  • LinMad

Lin should be the closer. He could have easily beat IT with his first step.

  • adele

This is Clifford coaching. Kemba and Batum are heroes. But then he has to put in Lin to save the game but sometimes too late. Lin has to do all the running, defending, passing, a little shooting. If kemba and batum is in the game, Lin will stay in the corner and nobody will pass the ball to him. Too bad they didn’t win. But at least Kemba still have his points for the all star. Thats good enough for them.

  • james brown

they forget again the winning formula, teamplay!

  • stam

Unfortunately, they won’t realize this and blame it on something else. At least they aren’t blaming things on lin.

  • DX

Totally agree or Lakers if BS and Kobe left.

  • zxcvb

Clifford doesn’t know this. He likes Lin but thinks he’s too slow to beat IT…despite doing so every time.

Stevens knows this, which is why he happily let Batum and Kemba ruin the game and hog it.

  • zxcvb

MDA and Brown are both noted Lin fans…BRING IT ON.

  • jeremy

Kemba is full of himself thinking hes Damien Lillard pass the ball man run pnr with ur bigs you aint that good
Batum you are not KD or PG know your place stop taking so many contested shots you are never gonna be the second coming of Kobe

  • John Focker

Bench Force One all positive, starters negative, pretty clear-cut at a glance just like Grizzlies game.

  • 1mtoldman

lin got great stats second game in a row his various ratings will defintely go up; best shooting game in a long time, didn’t settle for the 3’s. drove the ball; rebounds, assists, blocks, double digit scoring again. and 50% shooting on double digit attempts.

all looking good for lin. not so good for the cliff/batum/walker trinity.

  • LinMad

I did not like how our offense was at the end. It was all Kemba/Batum. Should have drew some plays for Lin. Make it more unpredictable.

  • james brown

no play for him during crunch time except for than surpised pass by KW for a Jlin drive to the basket..

  • DX

Kobe and Howard are talking happily. What happened? I remember they were fighting last time.

  • jeremy

nope but Clifford needed to put him in his place

  • LAJane

Yup. He kinda painted himself into a corner with that deal.

  • LinMad

he shot a few of his 3s like 50 ft away lol

  • golfhacker

    Isaiah Thomas torched Kemba tonight.

  • LinMad

Probably talking about how they both hate their teams

  • JJ Hui

Kemba hogging and not passing and got TO n then sinking all the way!

  • james brown

Ref was WTH iam supposed to do here!!!!better a NO CALL!

  • stam

Kamansky was in for 20 mins and had only 1 FGA? Lin has the most blocks on CHA this game.

  • jeremy

He thinks way too highly of himself
    Blame this on Clifford thou

  • xeroid

And when Kenba sat, Lin shut down IT.

  • JJ Hui

    All the time!

  • blubell

Walker -20. Jeremy +11. It would be higher if he didn’t played with the starters… and would be a win too… *sigh*

  • your son’s voltaire

then kemba came back in, and it got stagnant again

  • LinMad

Stevens took IT out after that technical. He brought IT back in when Kemba came back in cause he wanted to exploit Kemba’s lack of defense on IT.

  • JJ Hui

But the coach is blind and stubborn!

  • DX

    or coaches! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • occupatio

lamb went 3 for 11 tonight. so many shots set up nicely by lin but he lamb couldnt hit them.

  • CJSHYY

Back to old style again. smh! So it’s good they lose maybe will change again next game.

  • james brown

    predictable Coach!

  • LinMad

ya Cliff is Batum’s ego booster.

  • pandaboy99

No wonder lins back is hurt . Carrying the team like that

  • your son’s voltaire

trade kemba for a 3&D shooting guard, move Lin into the starting lineup as a point guard, and you got yourself a contender

  • zxcvb

Another bright side, remember when I said to just give Lin time under this new usage?

Efficient 16/4r/3a/3b last night in 27m. Efficient 14/5r/2a/2b tonight in 32m despite Kemba hogging.

And he still hasn’t found his 3pt shot yet…which will come over time last previous seasons.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Lol but so true

  • james brown

that too..too much catering, maybe he’s a CHEF NOT Cliff???LOL

  • Briiick

It is fruit (stats) picking time for KW and Batum following each win, and officially approved by Cliff.

  • adele

I know but awhile ago, you apologized to Clifford. Maybe too early for the apologies. He is using Lin to do a lot of heavy lifting to get his win and easy for Kemba to shoot because Lin is double or triple teamed. Thats when Kemba is getting his shots. Clifford is so lucky Lin is really a nice person and just do his job without complaints. Praise be this person.

  • jeremy

    Wesley Matthews
but nah they need a good PG cuz roberts can lead 2nd unit

  • CJSHYY

    Ya! Celtics really played well.

  • occupatio

    no, i dont remember.

  • David Kim

Clifford!! Batum shouldn’t be no 1 option in good team.

  • John Focker

Clifford must be blind to not know this, just pushing Kemba issue. Isaiah burning KW worse than Lin burning Aaron Brooks.

  • JJ Hui

Exactly! My grandma kept saying that KW came in and they are going to give this game away! lol,

  • zxcvb

Stevens is a genius. Clifford is just okay (though much better than BS/McFired).

Other than MDA, Lin’s best choice of coach would be Brad Stevens. For so many reasons, even personality.

  • NONONO

Something never changed. Lin got 32 mins only because Hornets in troubles 1st quarter and 3rd, 4 quarters. Would you all agree with me that Hornets could have won if Cliff let Lin play PG to close the game?

  • zxcvb

Haha, you must have missed it! People were killing me for saying Lin’s 5pt game before was fine. I said give him time and a dozen people jumped down my throat on both websites.

  • LinMad

do u know if Celtics wants Lin?

  • Briiick

Cliff is not gonna be no 1 option in good team either.

  • occupatio

good coaches dont need any particular player in order to win.

  • james brown

always will agree with you if that is your argument!

  • John Focker

Not to diminish Stevens, but any average intelligence coach would’ve exploited IT’s advantage over KW.

  • jeremy

Batum is a very good player but hes not a great player like Lebron james, Kevin Durant or Paul george only his ego is

  • blubell
  • cdblue10

Yes I did….I have already gave my word,so the only way to see Lin play in full display is for him to go to Philly.

  • LinMad

yes I agree, it’s the reason why we caught up and got a close game.

  • adele

Lin does a lot of heavy lifting for this team. Im not happy with the way Clifford is using Lin. I can see the selfishness.

  • zxcvb

Don’t think Ainge wants him (not as a starter). But Steven was one of the only coaches to praise Lin last year. Brown, Clifford and Stevens.

But I’ve been watching Stevens a long time from his Butler days…Lin is his ideal type of player. Guys like Hayward and Lin he loves — all-around, humble team-players.

  • jeremy

    Not even that
they needed to move the ball!!

  • blubell

    But it certainly helps

  • occupatio

    nod

  • cdblue10

    How did Lamb became +16…LOL

  • DX

Your grandma know better than Cliff.

  • John Focker

Celtics on B2B too, off a double-OT nonetheless. Politics killed the Hornets, not Celtics.

  • occupatio

Stevens would say you are correct. HAHA

  • John Focker

    Playing with BF1.

  • JJ Hui

And beaten Hornets tonight on thier homeland!

  • zxcvb

You’d be surprised. Clifford is above-average and he still goes by the “eye-test.”

“Kemba is amazing! He can stop IT. Lin is too slow…”

Just like BS, McHale, Woodson, etc. etc.

  • adele

    Of course.

  • cdblue10

Him and Kemba s*cks big time on this game, just smh.

  • blubell

He did well when it was just the bench without Kemba.

  • LinMad

    Lin effect

  • occupatio

well, got to see lin play his game when it lasted, and IT got put in his place. not a bad night of entertainment.

  • Hope

Now lin most play the point

  • takemeback2reaganyears

First thank you coach Clifford for finally see how much this team needed Lin. BUT please put him as starter and spreading out his breaks. He can not play 32 min straight with only one break at half time without effecting his perfect games.

  • Briiick

Is there a stat adding all the +/- each game for each player ?

  • james brown

highlighted more that KW and Batum are not clutch players

  • John Focker

Agree to disagree. I think Clifford knows but wants to push Kemba agenda. I wonder if he got burned after benching Kemba in 4th early in the season.

  • JJ Hui

Yes, KW is a momentum choker!

  • zxcvb

Not tough for the Celtics — NINE in a row on back-to-backs!

Steven is smart. He knows how to maximize his weak-sauce roster.

Clifford is just okay. He still allows for hero ball from sub-star players like Kemba and Nic.

  • stam

LOL, I guess they didn’t see the open asian man right next to him or that batum was shooting 2-9 from the 3 pt line, or that Batum was closer to half court than the 3 pt line (just exaggerating)

  • occupatio

lin’s +/- stats are polluted by kemba’s cooties.

  • zxcvb

Honestly, I’ll give Cliff some credit here — I really think he’s just trying to win. Just look at him playing Lin heavily now that they’re on a roll.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Feeling bad for Kemba, ref missed that jump ball call. Othewise he would had redeemed his bad game tonight.

  • Hope

Lin as pg will enforce ball movement.

  • John Focker

Not heavily enough and still adjusts too slow to Kemba stinking, hopefully he gets there.

  • adele

I pray and hope MDA and Lin will get reunited. Somebody. .. make it happen please!

  • Hope

Hornets want to go deep, they need to trade aj&kw.

  • John Focker

Lin gets TONS of bad calls and no calls, and no coddling. No sympathy from me at all.

  • occupatio

the typical pattern is starters create a deficit in the 1st and 3rd quarters, then the bench saves them in the 2nd Q, then kemba ball hogs in the mixed-lineup of the 4th quarter and kemba gets credited for carrying the team.

ive seen that script play out so many times. dont really care to see it again.

  • james brown

good that evrybody ir almost most of the people here are seeing the need for JLIN showcase and not complacent for a back up job whose always being ruined by starters who only know Hero ball..too stubborn to learn thatr the only passage to win is Teamball!!!

  • stam

Please let Lin play as PG even when walker is in and give him the green light.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Today they didn’t have good ball movement like yesterday… a lots less… But Celtics did. I am surprised Celtics played well.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

yes but he improves a lot of how to use Lin. Still need much more.

  • stam

True, but Kemba did get at least 3 noncalls this game. Lin gets that on a regular basis unfortunately.

  • LinMad

Lin’s too quick for the refs

  • takemeback2reaganyears

The politic is still over weight winning.

  • CJSHYY

    Kobe is shooting well today?!

  • Briiick

Lin was NOT allowed to play the PT during the last 5 minutes, that’s why they lost today.

  • stam

absolutely. that’s an automatic, it’s like night and day when lin runs the bench vs. starters with kemba at PG

  • NONONO

He played well when he was pg. he did not played pg in final 5 mins.

  • james brown

i dont really get it that KW and Batum load too much on Allstar when they are already assured of a great placement with Hornets? KW gives an impression of humility but when inside the court, selfishness comes out..and when on court , KW and Batum were planted the seeds of ALLSTAR thats why they play for their own individual stats..(cliff and FO the culprit)

  • John Focker

I’m rooting for Bulls to beat the Pelicans, make Clifford pay more for his dumb coaching.

  • blubell

This reminds me of last year when Kobe kept iso’ing and bricking the last shots.

Lin gave a somewhat diplomatic response when asked about Bryant’s final shot.
“How many game winners has he hit like that?” Lin asked, referencing Bryant. “I’m obviously rooting for him to hit that shot. I thought it was a good look. It was a very, very hittable shot. That’s just a matter of time before he starts hitting those game winners.”
Then Lin added, “I like game winners too. I would love to shoot some. But I get it. That guy is kind of the king of game winners. He’s going to hit that shot. He’ll figure it out. That’s why he is who he is.”

  • zxcvb

He was fine! Just didn’t get the ball enough while hot in the 4th thanks to dummy Walker and dummy Batum.

  • stam

    History always repeats itself…

  • Whitman Lam

Hornets could have won several other close games too, if Lin were playing PG, or even on the floor in the last few minutes of the 4th Q.
But the reality is, Kemba is the Face of the Franchise, and Batum is their new Max Contract player.

  • John Focker

Even if Batum played the point, as long as Kemba didn’t come in, the Hornets could’ve still won it.

  • LinMad

ya I was reminded of this today before you even posted this. “I like game winners too.”

  • rookie75094

Not even mad…Jlin played awsome. ..Batum and kemba lost the game.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Kemba needs to realize he has a different team now. The PR used to blame others that they had no offensive alternative to give Kemba and Jefferson the pass to ballhog. That’s no longer the case and Kemba needs to use and trust his teammates more. That culture now infected Batum today too.

  • adele

No. I still see the same style of coaching. It was just muffled by the wins. Lin draws a lot of double and triple team so Kemba can shoot his heart out. Look at Kemba’s stats when Lin is in the court with him.

  • zxcvb

Charlotte could be 19-4 if they just sat Kemba (and Lamb earlier) in crunch time.

So many close games thrown away because they wouldn’t play Lin. And now they play him (YAY), but they won’t give him the ball, even when he’s hot during the 4Q.

  • your son’s voltaire

ref didn’t miss the call. watch closely, Kemba’s hands were on both of IT’s wrists

  • LinMad

Batum shot 21 times. That’s Kobe-like. I think if Lin got another 2-3 looks, we may have won.

  • cdblue10

With Kemba’s size and hero ball attitude, no matter how many points he will put in, he’s always a liability.

  • blubell

I thought about this pretty much every game they played this year that were close. So frustrating.

  • John Focker

Take Kemba out and Hornets would’ve bagged this.

  • james brown

maybe after ASG, we will see the emergence of a dual PG in KW and JLIN..hope so!!!

  • LinMad

yes, defensively he’s a liability. That’s why he can have 33 pt games and still end up with a minus.

  • zxcvb

Even as a scorer, he’s a liability. Career 39% shooter with poor 3pt %s. He’ll regress to the mean over time, especially when Lin leaves. Stats already show Lin makes Walker so much better than he is w/o him.

  • rookie75094

The hornet fans should be the mad ones…lol

  • james brown

because when the chip is down Batum kinda pass the ball because he seems to know he’s not that clutch!

  • blubell
  • stam

yep, if coach would have adjusted earlier and made Lin play D on IT they wouldn’t have lost either

  • John Focker

Those who praised Kemba on his shooting and clutch now see the truth: streaky tail-wind shooter.

Reminds me a lot of Nick Van Exel.

  • adele

No, their first priority is to get Kemba to the all star. If he won’t get voted by the fans, he will get voted by the coaches. That’s their agenda.

  • zxcvb

I’m mad! I’m glad Clifford is FINALLY keeping his promise to Lin. This is what he signed up for — legit 6th man role.

But if he’s still a reserve, he better be on a GOOD winning team. Not this crappy Kemba-led treadmill squad.

  • rookie75094

Jlin shut down the midget…but he explode when kemba guard him.

  • sws94

Meh game from Batum. His numbers look OK but his decisionmaking was shaky, his passing wasn’t good, his defense wasn’t great and that last shot was poor. He got hot a few plays but overall was meh. Kemba reverted to Kembaball, forcing stuff. Yeah, he hit two clutch shots but made non-clutch plays. Lin overall was pretty strong although when he gets the ball he needs to go for his shot more. I was glad to see him make that late layup but his scoring was needed and twice he got the ball and didn’t really set anyone up or look to score. But he did better than Batum and Kemba. Marvin hits his normal shots, it is a win.

Celtics played well. The Hornets board was right about the matchups. The refs were pathetic.

  • blubell

Haha. He used to be my favorite player when he was with the Lakers. I agree he was very streaky but can be clutch.

  • John Focker

I don’t like the punk either, but the “m” word’s excessive. Stay classy.

  • LinMad

Only thing Cliff did right today with Lin was play him 32 minutes.

  • james brown

thats why it must be checked right now because it might get swollen and bigger, it will not be easy to inflate without negative repercussions.

  • KHuang

    Yes.

Like a BAD Nick Van Exel.

At least Van Exel HAD GAME.

  • blubell

    Please revise your post.

  • LinMad

    lol

  • occupatio

it’s one thing to draw up a play for someone, it’s another thing when the player doesn’t pass to the open shooter in that possession but instead takes a contested shot. the first part is the coach, the second part is silly heroballing.

  • adele

Now youre getting the coaching pattern. Not all the time Lin save them. Maybe they need to lose games to make them realize things if they do realize.

  • John Focker

True, Nick had better playmaking and court vision. Not elite but leagues above Kemba. I was speaking strictly on shooting.

  • zxcvb

Kemba and Batum are idiots. You can tell their motivation tonight was to statpad to make the All-Star team. Guys like that are the norm in the NBA. Only 1 team can win the title, so all they care about is stats, $$$ and awards.

Lin came to play and win. He’s a lone wolf in Charlotte. Marvin is a team player too, so I don’t even mind his off-game. At least he only took good, open shots though they missed.

  • cshot

lol if he’s a midget half the world is

  • occupatio

batum has never actually been a good defender. he’s lazy, doesn’t move his feet, and he pretty much dares everyone to shoot the jumper in front of him instead of actually contesting shots. his only ‘positive’ is he’s really good at reaching in with his long arms.

  • John Focker

They’re not idiots, just selfish and not team/win oriented enough. More Melo than Lin ingredients. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • cdblue10

    Me too.

  • sws94

Marvin was just off. Everyone has a game like that. He had good effort, just no shot tonight.

  • adele

Once the all star is over, they will let Lin do his style and lure him to sign an extension. Hope Lin will be smarter.

  • blubell

  • zxcvb

That’s what makes them idiots. They don’t know how to play the game.

  • KHuang

Lin’s a point guard who’s not allowed to run point.

Lin’s also a shooting guard who’s not allowed to shoot.

  • blubell

  • takemeback2reaganyears

They both need to be reminded that they haven’t won anything yet.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    Well said zxcvb.

  • cshot

Lin needs to be given chance to hit buzzer beaters. I don’t think I’ve seen him get those chances in a while. Probably back with the rockets is when he was getting to hit those

  • sws94

Nic isn’t selfish in a way but today he tried to do too much. He may not be that leader that Lin or Marvin is. He played smarter with Lin but with Kemba at the end, they played panicked and trying to do too much themselves.

  • cdblue10

Lin is the insurance while Kemba and Batum are the beneficiaries.

  • John Focker

Which is why it’s so amazing he’s still SO efficient despite playing with both handcuffs AND shackles.

  • james brown

thats why it is so clear now that KW has a problem..attitude towards the game..need to change his appreciation of Teamball as against ISO ball/heroball!

  • rookie75094

Same old patern…starters dig hole…Jlin and bench get the lead back….starters came back…dig more holes…Jlin and bench get lead back again..starters lose close game..just like clock work.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

You pointed all out in just 2 sentences.

  • John Focker

Kemba selfish, Batum not team/win oriented, respectively. Sorry for confusion on lumping adjectives. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • zxcvb

I’m just glad he’s getting good minutes now. If it weren’t for the blowouts, he’d have played 28-30mpg.

  • cshot

probably the best comment that summarizes his nba career

  • blubell

    Nick the Quick!

@drbrucehirsch saying anything negative about those 2 isn't welcomed by the fans…or by the team… Truth hurts tho— Trade Street Post (@tradestreetpost) December 13, 2015

I’ve watched Kemba make bad fouls by retaliating because of no calls or things not going his way during crucial parts of the games (not just in this game). After a no call, Kemba leaped into the air and fouled IT on the other end of the court with only 1 sec left to cross half court.

  • John Focker

Lin and BF1 make the deposits into the account, Kemba only makes withdrawals.

  • james brown

    well said!!!

  • sws94

He had a bad coaching game. Cliff’s probably mad at himself if he ever calms down about the refs.

  • blubell
  • CJSHYY

I agree w him but truth is not welcome in Hornets.. maybe not Al…

  • zxcvb

It’s really embarrassing to hear this All-Star campaign on their behalf. They showed their true colors tonight against a mediocre. easily beatable opponent (after an exhausting 2OT game).

  • spiderman

Silly Stu and his sidekick jumped on Lin for saying he’d like to shoot too

  • John Focker

    Caterpillar Kemba, Moth Harden.

  • adele

    Lol. Nicely put!

  • cdblue10

LOL…that’s the best way to say it.

  • sws94

Bad game from Cliff. Not in his usage of Lin which wasn’t bad but in not reeling Kemba in and organizing Batum with Lin better in crunch time. Celtics seemed more prepared. Maybe Charlotte was getting full of themselves. Starters did not bring it. Not in any way, shape or form. Bench guys should have played longer, Kemba less.

  • adele

He will be given that chance after the all star.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin was wide open when Batum force a loooooong 3.

  • adele

    Khuang you nailed it!

  • sws94

Terrible shot. Terrible decision, especially in crunch time. Lin has to shoot that. Make it or not, he had the better shot and you have to trust your closing guys on the floor. Batum’s whole game wasn’t great tonight.

  • adele

That’s why we still enjoyed following him.

  • occupatio

cliff has been letting kemba play like that — and much worse than tonight — for YEARS. why would it stop anytime soon?

  • sws94

He just can’t let Kemba stat-pad. When Kemba goes ISO chuck mode, reel him in. OK, he’s out there on the floor and has good handles and can make some shots but going one on 4 when a basket is needed rather than working out the plays is unacceptable. Kemba has to play to the standard he’s establishing, not freelance. He’s not that good.

  • TK Wong

    So true

  • adele

He has to. Lin draws the triple and double teams for Kemba to shoot. If you pay attention to the game, Lin just stood in the corner waiting and nobody pass the ball to him.

  • occupatio

stevens doesnt let players behave like that, and hes never had star talent on his team.

  • blubell
  • occupatio

and you keep saying this thing about kemba’s good handles (which i dont disagree with) and lin’s bad handles. the picture is more complicated than that.

  • sws94

I’m impressed with Stevens. He totally outcoached Clifford tonight. Cliff has to step it up if he’s going to take that next step up as a coach.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Batum just did whatever ordered he got from coach. Kemba is selfish & not going to change….

  • cshot

    highly doubt it

  • joyce ward

Exactly. He doesn’t want to reign in Kemba when he’s playing badly. KW was the cog in the middle of the wheel all night. Also Batum’s decision making is mediocre at best.

  • Briiick

Cliff is a yes man with some ideas in defense but no offense. MJ is not good in evaluating the talent of a player, KW has been a bust relative to his contract.

  • sws94

Lin’s handles were solid tonight. I think Kemba’s handles allow him to get to places where Lin may be slowed down more, BUT, Kemba can get stupid with the handles and try to take on a bunch of guys while missing a bunch of players that are open. But I’ve liked what I’ve seen from Lin’s handles the past 2 games and I think he’s working on them. Or maybe Lin’s back wasn’t great when I thought his handles were getting lose. Right now, Lin is outplaying Kemba and since I’m a Lin fan, it’ll keep Lin on the floor which is what I want to see.

  • grover chang

    Roid Rage!

  • InfiniteWisdom

the game was lost when possession after possession they didnt attack IT. bradley was put on kemba and they hid IT by putting him on lin. possession after possesion batum and kemba took turns playing hero ball while IT rested just standing there. yes folks, stand in the corner lin was back. it doesnt matter who IT guards, that guy should be attacking over and over again, sigh…

this loss is on cliff. he continues to allow the starters to get double digit deficits and makes no changes and calls no time outs. he continues to allow kemba to play hero ball and allow lin to rot away standing in the corner. sure other games you can say it’s working but when you have a certified nba midget guarding you, who was driven by time after time all game, you exploit that…

brad stevens 2015-2016 coach of the year. cliff screwed the pooch on this one….

  • John Focker

“MJ is not good in evaluating the talent of a player…”

    …or coach, or that matter.

  • xeroid

Well Lin played a great game, twice the second unit dug out a 9 or 10 points hole, only to have the starters falter. When the time out was called around 5 minutes in the 4th quarter Kemba was sent in and Jeremy Lin assumed he was off and started to walk toward the bench, but instead Lamb was sub out and Lin stayed. The problem was Lin was in to play defense only and rarely touched the ball. If Lin was allowed to continue to play point and ball movement continues Hornets would have won the game. Clifford should know better from last year and Al Jefferson’s injury absence stretch when fluid ball movements carried the team. Sure Batum and Walker both shot well during long stretches, but it was the defense that carried the team. Clifford may instinctive know that playing Lin is correct, yet he can’t really bench Kamba or switch Lin to cover IT, that would be a blatant move of distrust to Kemba and cause team rift. My hope is Clifford will have no choice but to play Lin at the finish and let Lin direct the traffic, and Kemba will learn to live with Lin and trust his ability.

  • sws94

Should have happened tonight. No excuse from Batum to not pass it to Lin. I’m saying he’s a smart player. Well, I look stupid tonight because that was not a smart play. Hopefully Lin will take some buzzer beaters going forward.

  • John Focker

Luke Walton deserves some kudos too.

  • occupatio

i dont agree. there is nothing wrong with lin’s handle right now. the biggest difference in this area between lin and kemba is that defenders can reach in on lin and not be punished by the refs most of the time. defenders know that. they think lin can be bullied to cough up the ball, and experience has shown that the refs will go along.

how often do you see ppl reach in on kemba? they dont often, bc he is officiated like a regular player. but lin, its non-stop reaching in. if kemba had to deal with that every game, he would be super careful with his handle too like lin.

what is wrong with lin’s handle is not the skill level, but rather that he is not confident enough about his handle. he could easy blow by ppl who guard him close but he doesnt, cuz hes been conditioned to not trust the refs. there is nothing wrong with lin’s handle — it’s enough to do what he needs to do. he just plays in a different environment than other PGs.

  • sws94

Loss is on Cliff. Absolutely. Bad refs or not.

  • MEL LIN

have the same thought…absolutely correct. Dumb coach for sure.

  • GoJLin!

At 4Q 1:42 after Lin Driving Layup Shot made, he still +15, hornets 91 vs 92, only down for 1 point. Then KW & Batum just took over all the shots (5 shots, only made 1), at least twice, did not pass to the wide open LIN; Bang, hornets loss by 93 vs. 98. If they only learn from Lin (pass the ball to the wide open man, don’t worry he is star or not), we could win this game! Well, hope JLIN will be healthy to the end, and learn how to balance his energy on both O & D, hope Clifford reward him by let him play his game! No LIN, No WIN.

  • sws94

I liked them tonight. Bradley is a great defender and Lin handled him well. Better than Kemba did. I think they should improve and we can agree to disagree on that.

  • sws94

I don’t find Boston easy to beat or mediocre. They took GSW to 2 OTs last night. And they are well coached.

  • John Focker

Our LOVE for Jeremy’s mental strength, impeccable work ethic, humility, and a kind heart is the ONLY reason many of us still puts up with the rigged, corrupt NBA at all.

  • xeroid

I posted this not because of Linsanity, but if Hornets want to be elite and challenge both Cleveland and Warriors for NBA championship, Lin and Kemba need to work off each other and improve understanding and trust.

  • Brent Yen

I think Kemba’s handle is shaky at times,,,

  • Rick Johnson

I think Cliff is starting to see. He usually keeps Kemba in much more in 3rd and fourth. Lin played more PG with Kemba out those quarters tonight. If he had kept Kemba on the bench they would have won.

  • John Focker

Attempt in vain, Kemba’s streaky and usually gets hot when riding a big lead.

  • james brown

Cliffs lose his grip on what the proper things to do most of the time during close game as his history of his coaching this season speaks of.

  • sws94

    At times, yes.

  • InfiniteWisdom

lin got minutes tonight, sure, but he was destroying IT all game, getting to the rim at will, then he had no touches late when it mattered. he had one easy layup to make it a 1 point game and they never went there again. this was a clear cut case tonight. IT is a midget who cant guard lin. and yet they didnt even try to exploit that. it boggles the mind! what is cliff thinking?

  • occupatio

brent is one of the smartest people on this board, but he doesnt talk much. hes too lazy to share what he knows. =P

  • John Focker

Let’s hope Bulls win tonight to help Clifford see better when Hornets pushed into 4th.

  • CJSHYY

I agree if no Kemba they would win this game but it’s impossible. smh!

  • james brown

when no pressure are there most of the time.

He’s iso ball gets him on a bind most of the time…He’s a better SG because of his shoot first mentality. but being small can only be played PG

  • John Focker

Putting Kemba back on IT is reminiscent of McHale pulling Lin off Lillard during “that” game. Equally dumb.

  • John Focker

It’s happened once this season, except I think Clifford got burned by F/O afterwards.

  • grover chang

  • CJSHYY

I know right now they want to promote him for ASG… not happening. BTW, Bulls won.

  • your son’s voltaire

Van Exel had some serious moves

  • james brown

we saw that Hornets today has the winning chance and can beat boston in the regular time..but unfortunately Heroball/Isoball/ballhogging and individual freezing players did we saw…agin winning cures them all, but when team lose, it highlights what needs to be change..KW was on it again during last 5 minutes of play at the 4thQ. was a sad turn of event after seeing how teamball makes a team formidable.

  • John Focker

Kemba not tall enough, as SG he’d get burned worse than he did tonight by a shorter IT.

  • John Focker

    Speaking strictly on shooting.

  • InfiniteWisdom

this game reminded me of the the 2nd knicks game at the garden. lin closed but was a nonfactor in the 4th, after a great 1st half in both games too. kemba ball does NOT win games. he forces too much sometimes. sure some games he helps you win, but tonight? tonight lin had the MAJOR advantage with IT da based midget guarding him in the 4th. such a shame… such a winnable game…

  • james brown

that was the play by Cliff so let cliff gets his sleepless nights because of that..

go forward next game and hope for the best!

  • your son’s voltaire

putting kemba back in is like doing tightrope walking WITH FIRE!

  • John Focker

Yes, I remember. Dribble dribble dribble ball stolen. LOL

He has decent playmaking when he’s not too busy showcasing his handle unnecessarily, likes flair a bit too much. Must’ve been Hollywood getting to him. Got better in that regard after he left LA.

    http://www.jlinportal.com/g23-bos-cha-notes-observations/

Hornets lost a winnable game vs Celtics with 93-98 as the final score:

    1. Clifford once again stuck too long with starters in the 3rd quarter, letting Isaiah Thomas go off on Kemba repeatedly without making adjustment. From leading 4pts (42-38) at half-time, Hornets starters allowed Celtics to make 33-17 run to trail 12 pts (59-71) when Kemba checked out with 2:28 left. The bench force 1 + Batum helped with a 10-2 run to only trail only 4pts (69-73)

    2. In the 4th quarter, Kemba came back when Hornets finally took 1 pt lead (82-81) with 6:31 with Lin played as the PG. Hornets got outscored 17-11 with Kemba went 2-6 shooting with 1 TO. Batum also went 1-5 shooting.

The reason for the loss is quite clear: too much Kemba and Batum ISOs down-the-stretch. plus not pulling starters early enough in the 3rd quarter when IT went off on Kemba

They are the designated stars and playmakers of the Hornets but Clifford should have adjusted by not playing them too much in the 3rd quarter, especially when Isaiah Thomas went off on Kemba. The lack of adjustment by Clifford proved to be fatal one more time.

Will Clifford eventually change his slow in-game adjustment when his stars didnโ€™t bring it before itโ€™s too late? Only time will tell.

Note: On the positive side, JLin provided a strong game defensively and was clutch with his shooting and playmaking . Too bad he wasnโ€™t playing the PG when Kemba came back.

  • Briiick

Cliff was thinking how to protect KW’s spotlight from being taken.

  • John Focker

YES! So Hornets 4th instead of solid second. Serves Clifford right.

  • joyce ward

He claimed he was ok with the defense on IT, but team had trouble getting around screens.

  • John Focker

  • John Focker

So he pulled a Byron Scott.

  • heart

    My Observation:
    1) Cliff lost the game starting at the 3rd quarter when he allowed KW to stay in the game and handle PG duty too long;
    2) Cliff did not call time out to adjust and let Celtics got comfortable;
    3) Lin lead the bench and got the lead. While the lead was up Cliff returned KW to the floor as PG, then the lead went down.
    4) KW and NB only passed the rock to each other in crunch time 4th quarter. Lin was standing in corner 3.
    5) In the 4qtr, Lin took it upon himself to drive into the paint to get high percentage shot to keep the scores close.
    6) KW was outplayed by IT. Got upset and got a technical in the 4th quarter. Not good for crunch time when you’re down.
    7) Coach Stevens Out-coached Cliff. Lin was still able to get inside the paint. Yet, Cliff didn’t have any set plays to allow him or other Hornets to get inside Celtics’ paint for easy scoring. NB and KW only settled for jump shots in crunch time.
My Conclusion: Cliff must allow Lin to be involved in the offense NOT just defense during crunch time. Last moment shots should not be limited to KW or NB during crunch time.

  • Phillycheese

They have good guard play and match up well with Charlotte. Who executes better will win as the talent level is similar. Coach is placing a little too much reliance on Batum and Kemba who failed to get it done tonight. Lin was on this game and should have been given the ball more during crunchtime. Team needs to learn not to revert back to bad habits during the close of periods.

  • adele

He is doing it in a cloak and dagger style. Stealthy moves. Hope Lin will see his true colors in due time.

He is thinking of Kemba being an all star. Thats the main goal. After the all star, Clifford will change the pattern. He will use Lin to win games. I’m not liking it (to me it’s a selfish way) and full of malicious agenda, but as long as Lin can improve his stats for his next team then, go for it.
