G19 CHA @CHI Notes & Observations

This is a good game for JLin. 9pts/3a/5r in 27 min with 3 steals; +6 for the game

Not good stat-wise but compared to the previous 4 games with few minutes & low number of shot attempts (FGAs)

And the Hornets won a game on the road against the Bulls 102-96.

Nic Batum was hot with 24pts/11r/5a. Kemba ISOs were killing some possessions early in game but he hit a clutch shot to give a 4pt-lead with 28 seconds left.

He got to be the PG a few times in 4th quarters, just missed some 3s (0-3) but his defense and hustle were very much needed. He was inserted back in for Lamb with 2:44 left in the 4th quarter. Lamb’s layup was blocked by Gasol so Clifford might need JLin’s defense and hustle than Lamb’s scoring to close the game.

I’m glad he didn’t hesitate to shoot (3-9) despite the misses. That’s what he needed to do. His 3pt shooting will eventually fall in next game as he keeps taking 8-9 FG attempts

Guess JLin's stats in Game 20 vs DET
  • heart

    1st?

  • GoJLin!

    1st!

  • GoJLin!

    sorry, you are 2nd

  • heart

Didn’t watch the game, only read comments a few times. How did Lin do? Did he get to finish game?

  • kauaiblue

This was a good game? Makes houston look like a paradise!

  • CJSHYY

Ya! He did but didn’t shoot well today.

  • GoJLin!

Yes, and he play for 26:40, not bad!

  • kauaiblue

He finsihed but barely touches the ball and hustled his heart out on defense and doing garbage things…

  • NONONO

Very interesting stats before tonight’s game – When Lin was +5 or better on +/-, Hornets won all games, otherwise they lost all games, Today Lin is + 6 and they won again!!!

  • kauaiblue

Hope clifford turns to jeremy at some point…

  • CJSHYY

That’s last 2 to 3 min for him… if he did shoot better they he would have more chance to take the shots… too bad not today.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • NONONO

He always did better than his stats shows.

  • kauaiblue

Hope he gets rid of that haircut to be honest, especually when he is marginalized…

  • heart

I hope he gets his shooting back. Lots of energy spent on defense can tire out legs and affect his shooting ability, especially when he’s tweaking it.

  • heart

    thanks for letting me know.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I still think it’s his back… bc if nothing wrong or bother him why Master Lo still w him in NC?!

  • blubell
  • Maybe not stat-wise

But compared to previous 4 games, he played 27 min & got to close games.
Plus Batum got hot with 4-5 3pt shooting so the ball needed to go to the hot hands.

Too bad Lin was not passed the ball much in the end but he contributed with defense and hustle.
With regular closing time & 8-9 FGAs, Lin will definitely score more in the next few games.

It’s a step in the right direction.

  • grover chang

Look should change his number to 25 to remind cliff how many minutes he plays to win the game.

  • kauaiblue

No problem… unfortunately he is being utilized even worse than in houston and lakers… it was boring to watch…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

He isn’t going to get rid of that anytime soon. This is the middle stage of what it will eventually end up coming summer. I begin to like it now:-)

  • kauaiblue

Hope so, clifford cant win wo jlin being the guy we k ow hes capable of being… but jlin needs to start being vocal about this… he is in his prime…

  • kauaiblue

    Lol…

  • heart

so sad… No fast breaks, right? Praying for a miracle for Lin…

  • heart

Cliff must have wanted to win today to let Lin play that long…

  • blubell
  • kauaiblue

Not at all… his talents r being wasted and its truly boring… i used to put my life on hold for these games… tonight i went to a steak dinner with my gf… so much more fun!

  • heart

    It’s ok. You go first!

  • yes, if JLin gets 25-28min regularly, he’ll make his shots more & will make it indispensable weapon to close out games.

I think he’s figuring out what he needed to do to stay on the floor.
I’m glad he kept shooting even when he missed his 3s

  • CJSHYY

Feel the same way bc he took so less money to be able to play his game but turn out to be worst than before… smh!

  • CJSHYY

    It’s before the game?

  • GoJLin!

Yes, because he did not play Lin entire 4th Q, but at least game is too close, I believe he want to ensure to win this one, so at last <3 min, he put him back to close the game!

  • LinMad

I hope he grows it 2 feet tall and then he can defend players who are 7 feet.

  • blubell

Looks like it. He’s not making eye contacts with the fans lol

  • blubell
  • heart

Good for you! I know it’s really a waste of Lin’s talents playing for this team at this moment if Cliff does not change his coaching way and kept on suppressing him.

  • GoJLin!

Thanks, it is my first “1st”! 🙂

  • LinMad

well the momentum was going to the Bulls in the 4th and Cliff inserted Lin to turn that around. I think he helped spaced the floor better.

  • CJSHYY

Maybe at this moment he’s not bc he’s busy to sign… LOL!

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

    From atthehive:

This may sound weird coming from a Bulls’ fan

But thank you for beating us. Thank you so much. The Bulls play like trash every game whether they win or lose, and their record is masking the reality that the Bulls are a mediocre squad at best. Losses like these lead to changes, and that’s what the Bulls need more than anything.

Also, Batum can’t miss a shot. I’ve never seen him miss a shot, regardless of what the box score says. He plays like Zeus against us. Finally, thanks for making the Bulls front office look stupid for not signing Jeremy Lin even though we had twice the amount of money to offer him than you guys did. Pure incompetence.

You can be a fool if you want to.

by Obeastity on Dec 5, 2015 | 10:34 PM reply

  • heart

Really… So he pulled Lin and reinserted him to guarantee the win?

  • Hope

I love MW. he passed the ball to lin after a rebound, ignoring kw calling for the ball. Lin passed to kw anyway.

  • kauaiblue

The only cool thing is you guys on this site!

  • LinMad

interesting…how come it looked like the assistant coach of Bulls liked Lin? Seems like Bulls FO didn’t agree with coaches or something.

  • CJSHYY

I think that’s the playing time Cliff promises Lin or should give it to him… if nothing go wrong again. Lin will get around this min + or – in the future…

  • heart

Bc Lin is used for Defense mostly.

  • kauaiblue

Ha! Jeremy putting egg on FO face again!

  • NONONO

Bulls fans know Lin’s value more than Hornets fans.

  • LinMad

Lin makes most NBA FOs look stupid. New York, Houston, Rockets and I don’t know about Charlotte but it looks like MJ likes Lin but he hasn’t relayed that to the coaches until today. Today we saw change and that means Charlotte FO are now realizing that Lin can be a big part of the team.

  • NONONO

i think FO already has changed mind already, just watch their next step

  • kauaiblue

Im not so sure about any changes… ill believe when i see… lol

  • LinMad

Ya, I feel that Bulls will try to sweep Lin up next season or after December 15th.

  • LinMad

same. It could just be that the Charlotte is trying to get rid of Lin too so they allowed Lin to play against Bulls knowing Lin is wanted by the Bulls.

  • NONONO

I doubt they can wait to next season. They are losing

  • heart

You also spent some quality time w/ your gf. That’s even better.

  • kauaiblue

Yes! We live together so we r always have qt… lol

  • I hope so.. 0 TOs & great defense.
If he makes more shots, it will be more min for sure

  • LinMad

so maybe Charlotte wanted to display Lin to the Bulls today to see what they will offer for Lin. We’ll know if Lin gets little minutes next game that today’s game was all to showcase Lin to the Bulls for trade.

  • Parent of an 8th Grader

Just saw this article at atthehive.com also. Mentions Lin’s stats, including his playing time, his impact on the game, etc. Has Lin’s photo as the cover.

    http://www.atthehive.com/2015/12/5/9853132/eighteen-games-into-the-season-what-trend-we-can-see

  • LinMad

ATH normally doesn’t do this. I wonder if they got word from Hornets FO to start hyping up Lin so the Lin fans can be happy and hopefully say that Charlotte is home for Lin. Maybe they do want to keep Lin.

OR they really want to trade him this December so they are showcasing Lin to the Bulls and bringing up stats.

  • cdblue10

I hope everybody knows now who’s shutting Lin down on Hornets…

  • LinMad

    Kemba/Batum?

  • It’s a FanPost by our very own Stat-Wiz @disqus_Qw9GaYTag0:disqus

The high quality work certainly deserves theFront-Page feature =)

  • cdblue10

Just Kemba…Batum knows he’s more efficient when Kemba is not on the floor

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • NONONO

knicks thought they found someone better than Lin, now they drops to #11 and Lin helps his team win whenever he got the chance to close the game. Now, Hornets is #6

  • LinMad

ok i hope so. I just feel that when Kemba is on the floor, Batum never passes to Lin. So maybe ur right, it’s all Kemba’s fault.

  • heart

Looked at box score, KW has the most minutes today. It’s like Cliff really want KW to get stats no matter how inefficient he’s been. Is this true for this game too?

  • LinMad

they need to fire some writers and hire some fan posters.

  • good highlights … but that hair tho’ =)

  • cdblue10

Batum passes to Lin….esp. on OT game vs. Kings but after that,it disappeared.

  • CJSHYY

Ya! His shoot is not back yet I think something to do w his back… Master Lo still w him in NC. Hope he can get well soon.

  • John Focker

If Bucks trade for Lin this month, then they’ll make the playoffs. If Bulls trade for Lin and use him correctly, they’re going to the ECF. Even Hornets, they would’ve been 15-4 (or even 16-3) had they played Lin the way they did in preseason.

  • kittyhead

What!? I dont know the Bulls offered Lin a contract this summer?

  • LinMad

I think he only passes it to Lin if it’s a play drawn by Clifford. But when Kemba is on the floor, Lin wont’ get it unless Kemba passes it to Lin which is pretty much never.

  • sport

25 minutes and only 9 points is not a showcase.

  • cdblue10

I would like to see him in Bucks uniform

  • I’m actually glad Kemba made the ‘clutch’ ISO shot with 28 seconds left .. after missing many ISO shots killing the ball movement

If Hornets had any plans showcasing Kemba, this will only help.
But it’s a big IF indeed.

His heavy minutes lately make very curious case

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep that was my concern well back in the beginning of the season. About a month later, we saw Master Lo to be with JLin. Something definitely is bothering him that affects his shooting form.

  • cdblue10

It’s a trickle down effect because Batum is playing for the money this season,he needs to play politics with Kemba

  • InfiniteWisdom

lin came in before lamb!?!? is this something new or a one off? he didnt really look to score much but i think his defensive presence and hustle is worth more than stats can show. when he’s +5 or more the hornets are undefeated? makes sense to me…

kemba started the 4th again. i think things went stagnant and picked up when he sat for rest. then batum heated up. lin was floor spacing again… when he did touch the ball he either moved it or show when open. missed a pretty open 3 but ht a long 2. his defense was really good. once lin came in to finish i knew the game was won.

  • LinMad

ya seriously. stats don’t lie. Marginalize Lin and you’re going to have a crappier game and bigger chance of losing. Now you can satisfy players egos like you did the past 18 games or win games with Lin. Not a hard decision to make.

  • sport

What change? Lin’s still marginalized! Only change is when Lin gets to start as PG or SG!

  • CJSHYY

That’s for sure otherwise Master Lo will not stay w him for that long.

  • cdblue10

If they have plan to trade him then they’re making a big leap to really become a solid franchise

  • NONONO

I think Kemba and Batum know if they ask the ball from Lin, Lin would give it to them, but few the other way around.

  • CJSHYY

    Kemba.

  • If Hornets ever entertains the idea of showcasing Kemba, would his “clutch” ISO shot with 28 seconds (after wasting so many ISO plays) make the Bulls bite to replace DRose?

Basically, Kemba is a healthy Rose (minus the old athleticism)

  • NONONO

i hope several other times might make moves on Lin too.

  • cdblue10

NO doubt. That’s started when he was bench on the 4th quarter and the win against Kings.

  • If his heavy minutes continue before Dec 15, I’ll be super-curious

  • CJSHYY

He always did … somehow he reminds me Kobe from last year… just so worry Lin will do well so Lin has to play less min than him & takes less shots than him. smh!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep. He is still with him now in his 3rd or 4th week. At least JLin makes his games effective in other areas despite of his off shooting form. I’m very proud of him.

  • CJSHYY

Unless Lin is really going to stay here otherwise this will not happen… Kemba always played heavy min from the past.

  • MoominFloren

It worries me when Lin fell on the floor in Q1

  • CJSHYY

Hornets wants to keep Lin for sure but I don’t think Lin will stay….

  • GoJLin!

When Lin is in at 3Q 4:20, CHA 64 vs CHI 67; at 4thQ 8:35, finally Walker Substitution replaced by Batum, then < 1 min, Lin assist Hawes with a 3pt Shot, and made a Jump Shot; he be able to do some PG role; by the time 4thQ 5:00, Walker in, Lin out, CHA is 91 to 88 (between Lin in & out, that is 6 pts turn around); at 4Q 2:44 CHA is 94 to 91, still 3 pts apart, I believe coach want to ensure this win, so he call Lin in to close the game!

  • sws94

He’s pro-Lin. Lin took the final play in his own hands waving off Kemba to close the first. I was happy to see that. Little steps.

  • rookie75094

Love this comment from a bull fan at the hive…….This may sound weird coming from a Bulls’ fan
But thank you for beating us. Thank you so much. The Bulls play like trash every game whether they win or lose, and their record is masking the reality that the Bulls are a mediocre squad at best. Losses like these lead to changes, and that’s what the Bulls need more than anything.

    by Obeastity on 12.05.15 10:34pm

  • you’re correct. Kemba is always playing heavy minutes.
    It’s probaby just Clifford then

  • heart

Lin has been having single digit points for sometime now. So sad for him…

  • cdblue10

That’s a possibility too, because if Clifford wants to really coach this team,he needs a team that doesn’t have a big ego.Every coach also dream to steer a team w/o any hindrance and politics .

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I really hope to see Master Lo back to Taiwan ASAP. That means Lin’s back is OK. LOL!

  • rookie75094

I would not be surprise if Jlin will play for the bulls next year

  • CJSHYY

Me too… hate to see that….

  • John Focker

I vaguely remember Lamb saying something about better ball movement…

Maybe he’s been given the Swaggy P treatment? LOL

  • heart

    yep.

  • cdblue10

He’s becoming the Tony Allen of Grizzlies with a better all around court savvy

  • CJSHYY

Ya! Cliff just like BS or Mc needs to please #1 guy in the team no matter what….In fact, most of coaches in NBA all like this…

  • cdblue10

Bucks is a better place for him,he needs a coach that have a spine.

  • John Focker

My impression of coach Kidd improved upon seeing him bench MCW.

  • CJSHYY

Bc competition. Lin is PG & in the league anything can change within one day so he sure doesn’t want Lin to be outshine than him on court.

  • rookie75094

I am fine with the bucks as well…but to me it’s seem like the bulls will use properly use Jlin skills

  • cdblue10

He’s a hard nose player and a coach,he’s just concern with winnings, nothing else.

  • John Focker

More acupuncture sessions! Let’s make Lin a pin cushion!

  • heart

But will he be known for his D like Tony Allen? Will this D reputation goes w/him to the next team? If there’s a new team to go to? And we’ll they only utilize his D instead O and D? So many uncertainties..

  • cdblue10

Politics is his number enemy again if he’ll go there

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOLOLOL That’s true. If JLin continues to be hit with no calls from refs, Master Lo will need to stay in US until end of season.

  • kittyhead

If his 3s starts to fall in, his points will look better…

  • cdblue10

He’s becoming scarier actually, esp if those shots start falling.

  • rookie75094

I still have not forgive kidd for pulling Jlin hair.

  • cdblue10

Exactly what I was thinking too.

  • InfiniteWisdom

yes but he’s so much more than a 3 and d player… we need bench force one back with zeller NOT hawes ugh and more minutes too none of this kemba starting the 4th quarter bs. anytime kemba starts the 4th quarter we get stagnant offense…

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • cdblue10

Lol… I remember that one too,it’s just him getting older that time

  • heart

I think his shot-tweak and tiredness from Defense do have a negative effect on his shooting. At the same, not knowing how minutes he will be able to play from game to game does take away his consistency. But his coach and some others won’t give him that benefit of the doubt. So we keep praying for him…

  • sport

LOL Bulls will not allow Lin to shine even if Rose leaves! They have a history of star player in MJ and D Rose. Bull’s coach is also clueless that’s why they are losing.

  • heart

    Good. I can’t wait to see that…

  • CJSHYY

Ya! I am not happy about his stats but not worry either bc once his shoot is back everything will up sooner than you think…LOL!

  • Joe what do you know

I really suspect that he actually might have some form of injuries hindering his shooting. No way his shooting % would drop off so much all the sudden. It’s either he hasn’t noticed himself or being properly diagnosed, or that he just is not disclosing…

  • heart

I suspect the heavy minutes is to enhance KW’s chances for All-Star.

  • Maknusia

CHO only host ASG in 2017

  • CJSHYY

That’s good point. I don’t see anyone say Lin’s like Tony Allen good in D? That’s why I am a little bit upset by he’s in the game for D not O for late 4Q. smh!

  • CJSHYY

Bc coach wanted to win today’s game that’s why Lin was in early today.

  • sws94

I made an error on Lin’s overhelping. On the 2nd shot it was a fast break leading to a rebound and McDermott ran behind the arc for the 3 point miss. Lin didn’t leave his man on that one overhelping so he got burned once overhelping leaving McDermott.

  • Briiick

I second that. But if he is offered a serious contract > 10M/year in any NBA team, I say go for it. Money weights more than any promise.

  • CJSHYY

Haha! I like this…Money weights more than any promise. LOL! Like Dragic, didn’t play well in Heat but at least he got the big money… who cares he didn’t do well this year… he’s younger than Wade… his time will come in the future.

  • kittyhead

But when will his 3s come back on earth…..QQ His slump is long enough! Every time when watching he shoots,I always feel anxious…lol

  • TTNN

    thank you

  • sws94

Is this coming in earlier a change of direction for Clifford? Hope so. I don’t know much about Detroit other than Drummund is a beast and they are a very good team. It’s another challenge for Lin’s team.

  • sws94

Thanks for pointing me to the video.

  • sws94

I think he’s close really. Maybe if he shot more 2s he can just increase the distance. His 2 looked good tonight that he hit.

  • jeremy

They don’t have a SG that needs to be guarded
I don’t think Lin will play more than his back up minutes

  • rookie75094

I want Jlin to have a Reggie jackson beat down…hehe

  • sws94

Do they go small? Does their backup PG play with their PG?

  • Briiick

Agree. If Hornets have the plan to trade KW they wouldn’t have given him the fat contract. The fact that he is awarded 12M/year for 39% shooting for the past seasons with boring offense and poor team results says a lot about the top brains.

  • jeremy

    Nope their bench is horrible

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Master Lo from Taiwan is with him for the last few weeks speaks volume of the so-called “shooting slump.”

  • TTNN

I anticipate that during the time AI is missing games.

Without AI, they are missing post presence and also ball delivery to post/paint area. On this team, only Lin and Kemba likes to drive, and Kemba don’t pass much when he drive. So they will need Lin to keep that balance.

Lin’s defense is also another thing. Lamb is not bad, just not as aggressive in defensive side.

  • KL

Based on hard stats as well as the eye test, it is so clear that Kemba plays so much better when Lin is on the floor. I really wonder if anyone outside the Jeremy Lin fan community understand this.

  • LinMad

Do you guys think that high five by Lin to a Bulls coach was to make Clifford/Hornets FO mad?

  • occupatio

    look at the new standings.
    http://espn.go.com/nba/standings

toronto, boston, and new york all lost tonight. =)

  • occupatio

also, if you look at the bulls’ average pt differential (only +.7), it is clear they will soon be dropping down further in the future.

  • CJSHYY

I didn’t see that… when? Before the game or after?

  • Joe what do you know

Marcus Morris has developed into a pretty solid player. But I think Marvin can definitely handle him.

  • LinMad

lol, during. When Lin did a play and almost ran into the Bulls bench.

  • CJSHYY

Really? Must be when I went to kitchen for food… LOL! Who did it first? Lin or Bulls coach?

  • LinMad

i don’t know. I felt that the bulls coach said something nice to Lin.

  • CJSHYY

I think he sure likes Lin bc he run lots of PnR & fast break. LOL!

  • Joe what do you know

You have a very colourful imagination…. You’ll probably make a very good fiction writer…lol

  • LinMad

it’s always the other coaches complimenting Lin. Not his own coach.

  • 6th is not bad.
Hornets could’ve been 4th if they didn’t pull JLin in the Cavs game =)
Maybe they’re slowly learning their lesson

  • CJSHYY

    Ya! That’s true.

  • occupatio

so, does lin know one of the chicago asst coaches? someone said he gave lin a high five. (right before half time?)

  • LinMad

if coach played Lin better against GSW and gave him more minutes to close the game, we could have won that too. We didn’t lose by much even though Kemba played horrible that day. We had a chance to win if Lin took some of Kemba’s minutes.

  • CJSHYY

It’s from Hornets or Bulls broadcast? Which Q? I am going to check LP video…

  • sws94

It could be just that knew or coached him previously. Who was the coach? If we knew, then we could see if Lin had a prior connection to him.

  • LinMad

Hornets, I think 2nd qtr. Make a gif if you can.

  • CJSHYY

    AS coach not coach?

  • heart

Still, correct me if I’m wrong, but KW’s stats boosted for All-Star every year since he’s been drafted to Charlotte by MJ, except last year when he got injured. Cliff is doing everything possible to give KW another All-Star nomination this year. Knowing there are lots of offense options this year on this team, and KW’s biggest competition at the same spot PG is none other than Lin. Guess whose stats are being suppressed… That’s my observation…We’ll see…

  • CJSHYY

    Thanks.

  • occupatio

    these are the assistant coaches:

Associate Head Coach – Jim Boylen
Assistant Coaches – Randy Brown, Charlie Henry, Pete Myers, Mike Wilhelm

  • golfhacker

It looked like Lin jumped to defend the last second shot and his momentum carried him into that coach on the Chicago bench. And they just patted each other as they separated. I looked like the coach patted Jeremy on the chest, but I’m not 100% positive.

  • rookie75094

Wow the clips are losing to orlando….chokers

  • occupatio

oh ok. i didnt see the footage myself.

  • occupatio

i look forward to seeing the highlight of the lin/pyscho PnR. on my feed, i couldnt tell how lin got the ball to him.

  • LinMad

they connected like they were meant for each other

  • occupatio

    ok clippers are up now

  • jeremy

griffin needs to take more shots

  • LinMad

We really do need Psycho T though to play more minutes. I’m tired of seeing Hawes and Frank shooting so much from the 3 when they don’t even contribute that much around the rim. I’m sure coach can find more minutes for Psycho T and we’d see more rebounds and PnRs.

  • sws94

Me neither, and I have League Pass which is very clear.

  • occupatio

would be nice if orlando loses, so charlotte can get more separation in the standings.

  • Here’s a snapshot of how Lin brilliantly got 2 Bulls to jump before passing the ball between them to a wide-open Hansbrough for the dunk (refresh)

    His timing simply impeccable

  • occupatio

thats crazy. so little space to make that pass.

  • occupatio

thanks for pic. now i really cant wait to see it in real time again.

  • And this is the snapshot of Bulls Assistant Coach giving Lin a shoulder tap after Lin’s good play to challenge Snell’s missed 3
Lin almost fell on Bulls bench. (refresh)

Not sure Lin knows him but it’s recognition of Lin’s good play

  • John Focker

Hawes reminds me of Ryan Kelly / Robert Sacre…

  • Steppen03

Even if the Clippers choke it’s still day and night compare to the tanking Lakers. Clippers are still a fun bunch to watch! The Clippers have to pull as much fans as they can from the Lakers – and there’s No better time than now.

  • Hornets announcer recognized the beautiful PnR play.

Clifford should really consider this duo to be BF1 Saiyan Mode!
Hansbrough smartly came over to give screen for Lin at the right time to execute PnR

  • John Focker

6th is fairly bad considering they could’ve been 1st or 2nd.

  • occupatio

    whhich announcer called it? collins?

    i wanted chicago feed.

  • occupatio
  • LinMad

ya sometimes I feel like he doesn’t know what his role is supposed to be and he just freestyles it.

  • occupatio

So, the gameflow chart is now available.
    http://popcornmachine.net/gf?date=20151205&game=CHACHI

lin was in the game for 5 of the 6 charlotte runs. (he could not be in the first run, because that was 1Q)

As you can see, Cliff put Lin in earlier in the 1Q than usual, and earlier in the 3rd than usual. Also, Lin both opened and closed the 4Q.

this is exactly what i want to see from Cliff.

  • LinMad

this is how scoring should be. EASY.

  • LinMad

aww why is this image so small compared to your other one?

  • Steppen03

At this point, Cliff takes the 3’s from Hawes hands down. PyschoT has ZERO chance.

  • LinMad

ya there’s no doubt they played Lin more today. I just wonder if Hornets FO heard us.

  • Joe what do you know

    I’m sorry, he’s a poor man’s Ryan Kelly…

  • LinMad

This shows how coach is actually coaching now. There was no need to marginalize Lin at all. Kemba still got his 38 minutes. Batum still got over 30 minutes too. Lamb still got 20+ minutes. Looks like before, the only reason Lin got less than 20 minutes was because he was marginalized by coach/FO. Even PJ got 19 minutes…what the h*** were the Hornets doing the last 18 games with Lin? omg

  • CHI announcer only said, “..Hansbrough for the dunk ……. Pick-and-Roll . (Lin) Pick-And-Roll. Gotta go Pick-And-Roll every time when you get a chance”

I couldn’t quite hear what he said

  • occupatio

    i was watching chicago feed.

do you remember what the hornettes announcer said and who said it? girl is stephanie ready, and the difference between eric collins voice and dell curry’s is obvious.

  • AlexBB

Just I am about to give up on Hornet?

  • occupatio

ppl (including you) were overreacting to the previous game.

  • TK Wong

Yup – LA market is tired of Kome and BS show. Only if Clips were winning more and not cry babies that would take away a lot of long-time faithful Laker fans. What’s happening to Lakers now is not the Laker heritage ala Magic, Jerry West, or even Shaq and Kobe era … it’s total junk right now.

  • Steppen03

I don’t know about Bulls’ coach clueless… But that’s a better team than Bucks: JL7 & Jimmy Butler. Man, I’d love that duo very much. Having Lin on Bulls is a very good insurance just in case DRose is not avail again. But even with DRose, JLin will be such a boost to that contending team. I, somehow, don’t like Kidd – If he like JL7 he would have picked up Lin in FA by now. He has the power.

  • sws94

You really can’t go game to game. This one either. Take the whole season in chunks and then see what happens. Lin is still learning this team and coach and them him.

  • ec

Just saw this. Someone may have posted this before so sorry for the repeat. Either way it puts things into.perspective on what Jeremy has to deal with. I will be praying for him.

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z23yHzUwRVE

  • sws94

How are they a good duo? Lin plays well with a PnR big man, a 3 point CnS guy, and a guy that can catch his life, guys that run a lot. Butler is none of that. He’s a skilled 2 that creates a lot of his own shots. I don’t see a good combo there at all. Maybe he can dunk some of Lin’s lobs. That’s about it.

  • sws94

Anywhere. The NBA is the NBA. The grass isn’t greener on another team and I think that will be shown wherever Lin may go. He’s actually probably better off in Charlotte than a number of teams portal posters are wishing he could go to.

  • occupatio

what cliff does in this game is more meaningful than what he does while lin is injured, like last game.

one can’t go game by game, but there are overall patterns that can be observed. one of them is when cliff is unhappy with lamb’s defense. and that was the case tonight.

  • sws94

Sure, and I think Cliff is trying to integrate Lin more into the offense with Kemba. I just meant in terms of minutes and even who closes one game. It all may depend on matchups and nothing Lin or Lamb or anyone does. But I agree, some patterns are forming.

  • Lin Win

    This is Lin’s defensive problem!

Lin leaves E’Twaun Moore to try wall off Butler who is trying to go baseline.

    That was Tyler’s job.

Kemba should be the person in Lin’s position and not the other way round.

Butler could’ve made an easy pass to either Rose or E’Twaun Moore for an open 3.

I’ve heard multiple times in the game about Clifford yelling at Lin about the 3. This is one of the reasons why I think Clifford doesn’t let Lin finish the game.

Today it happened again and we nearly lost the game because of it.

    Green= pass
    Blue = Lin
    Light Blue = E’Twaun Moore

  • Job713

Lin always shows good sportsmanship. The coach was reciprocating.

  • occupatio

the most important change cliff could make to the lin rotations is put him in the 3rd quarter earlier than he mostly has up till now. it used to be like two minute mark, which is way too late.

lin was put in earlier in the 3Q tonight because PJ simply stunk it up.

what happens in the 4Q will continue to vary, but i would like the 3Q lin rotation to stick.

  • sws94

I think it is too late too. But I’m not sure if this game will be a change or not. We’ll see. It may have to do with Al’s injury also.

  • Arsenium12 .

Pete Myers was an assistant coach with the GS Warriors from 2011 – 2014 so he might have had some interaction with Lin at that time. See : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Myers

  • james brown

were too much of a critics of JLIN than the haters themselves. lets accepts his game today as the beginning of a newfound opportunity and wait for more to come rather than pick things Jlin made an error for we all know that Jlin himself is his own critic and will try to make the necessary judgment the next time.

  • sws94

    Wow.

  • JJ Hui

Not only pulled Lin’s hair but slammed Lin to the ground and that can kill if the head slam hard to the ground!

  • Hope

Love the pnr with psychoT at the end of half.

  • Briiick

Is it only me who have been thinking that Lin could be the best PG in penetrating and then passing to a Big in the crowd since he was with Asik ?

  • Briiick

I suspect that is the reason why Cliff hasn’t played him with Lin much for PnR. It could have been a showtime that KW and MJ feel painful to watch.

  • Briiick

I have given up on NBA already, but Lin gives me reason to watch sometimes.

  • it might’ve been Collins (or Del, I’m not sure)
when we have highlights, it’ll be clear

  • Brent Yen

Lol….if Clifford yelled every time this kind of thing happened he would not able to speak by now….defensive minded? Pfffft…

  • grover chang

I don’t like Kemba controlling the ball. Defense now is more like a zone. Dribble penetration is needed to beat a zone but Kemba doesn’t break the defense down for the whole team to benefit the way Lin does. Kemba dribbling only seems to open enough space for himself for a jump shot.

  • Brent Yen

Getting a shot up is easy…but….

  • I disagree. In this case, JLin made the right decision to cut off Butler’s path going baseline.

Butler had a clear path to the rim so he’s for sure going to go up strong & draw a foul.
But Lin blocked his path so he had to brake hard to reset.

Butler’s angle also made it hard to pass since Kemba can intercept them.

There were other plays where Lin left McDermott wide-open which was bad. This is not one of them.
But in this case, if Lin didn’t help, Butler would’ve get 2 with possibly And-1

I actually thought this is Lin’s good defensive play because he anticipated Butler move from previous plays where he went baseline

  • occupatio

collins is the play by play announcer. he is always talking. and he is loud, excitable, super enthusiastic and is often hyperbolic in his praise.

dell curry often does not talk. and he is more subdued.

  • Lin Win

I didn’t hear him yell this game but for the last 2 games he did when Lin leaves his man one pass away.

  • occupatio

sorry, but im not even going to review this play.
lin made only 1 defensive mistake this game and it wasnt this possession.
the rest of his defensive efforts ranged from good to basically perfect.

  • Lin Win

We can argue about Butler’s angle all day but I don’t think it’s hard to pass to E’Twaun Moore. Jimmy could even pass to Mirotic then to E’Twaun Moore.

It’s always wrong to leave your man one pass away.

You are also assuming that Rose doesn’t drive baseline.

Jimmy could even pass baseline to Rose driving passline and if Kemba cuts him off , Rose could kick out to E’Twaun Moore for an open 3.

  • Lin Win

It wasn’t one, I highlighted the worst one here.

  • blubell

    Highlights from JUN LIU

  • heart

Cliff is becoming more predictable each game. Notice, after a loss, he usually gets nervous and will try to get a win quickly the next game by letting Lin plays a little bit PG and a few extra minutes. Once he gets a few consecutive wins, Lin will not be closing or playing that many minutes. That’s the pattern I’ve observed Cliff has done so far. The Most annoying thing is Cliff’s assignment for Lin is Defense only in those few closing minutes.

  • blubell
  • Singapore BB Fan

I personally find this argument rather strange. In the first place everyone knows JLin is a PNR specialist and he can or may overshadow Kemba. If MJ or FO is reluctant to play JLin then why bring Lin to Charlotte?

  • Thanks!

Lin’s 3 steals (tied season-high) truly disrupted Bulls offense
Batum bounce pass to Lin was beautiful to watch. The chemistry between these 2 is worth developing

  • occupatio

at the 7:50 min mark, the chicago announcers complained that lin knocked noah to the floor. you can see noah just sliding backwards on his tush into the reporters. that was funny. i enjoyed that.

  • After watching the highlights (4:06), I think Lin’s intent was to draw a charge on Butler

It’s a judgment call for sure. We can’t be sure if Lin thought Butler wouldn’t have the angle to make a cross-court pass if his drive is blocked. In this case, it worked out well because Butler or Moore didn’t score.

I just think in this case there is more merit to gamble on the offensive charge. I didn’t agree with Lin’s decisions to leave McDermott open after he hit some 3s.

    https://youtu.be/5Wfqt-OkL_Y?t=4m6s

  • occupatio

    haha, thats a good one!

  • occupatio

kemba is simply incapable of making that PnR play to psycho that lin did.

first of all, kemba has no clue about how to use the ‘S’ dribble after coming off the pick. he never does it, cuz he only knows how to take a straight beeline to the hoop. and the timing/coordination with the big is much more complicated after the ‘S’ dribble.

  • bolero

Did Lin yell what the h*** for a no call…?

  • occupatio

yep. its really loud, and REALLY clear. hahaha

  • 8:38 CHI announcer “I tell you what .. Jeremy Lin doesn’t get a lot of credit; he’s not a bad ball-player!
after 2 consecutive plays where JLin assisted Hawes on a wide-open 3 and drained a midrange J

  • occupatio

yeah thats not the first time chicago announcers have given lin credit this season

also, in this game, the chicago announcers went out of their way to compliment lin’s defense. it was something subdued like ‘his defense is much better than youd expect’ but it was definitely real praise and not a backhanded compliment.

  • That ‘S’ dribble was brilliant because it drew 2 bigs out to clear the way for Hansbrough for a practice DUNK lol

The timing to get 2 bigs to jump was simply Beautiful!

  • bolero

good. because they were hating on Lin last game..lol. and one of the announcer got call out by a JLin fan..

  • yes, they recognized his defensive contribution and were simply pleasantly surprised about it
Great analysis indeed. Who were they?

  • occupatio

color commentator is stacey king (who used to hate on lin but not anymore)
play by play is neil funk.

  • [2:37] that wasn’t right but so funny..
    It’s good JLin didn’t get a T lol

  • occupatio

no one gets a technical for that sort of thing. you just usu dont get to hear it so clearly.

  • bolero

yup. that’s him King..there’s even an article or blog on it..lol

  • I guess as long as someone didn’t get right in the refs’ face is ok?

  • blubell

I am really surprised by how much credit Stacey King gives Jeremy this season. The highest compliment I heard from before was that Jeremy is just a good bench player and really had nothing good to say about him. Now he’s saying Jeremy is killing them and that he can start sometimes, etc. What is going on? lol.

  • occupatio

ive heard much stronger language than that, for sure. every player complains about calls, often cussing about it.
and yes, its not screaming in their face, but certainly very vocal

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • CJSHYY

Really? Wow! What’s wrong w him? LOL! Maybe Bulls really wants Lin… Haha!

  • and it was completely dead air for everyone to hear.
After that, JLin ran back on D & drew a charge on Rose but was still unhappy talking to HAwes & Marvin who helped him get up afterwards

  • blubell

I heard that when I was watching the game and thought Mama Lin would not appreciate that kind of language! I could imagine her reaching for the soap 😛

  • occupatio

i think part of the reason is that the bulls have suffered from poor PG play ever since rose had that major injury. all their PGs have been below average to bad recently, including rose himself.

i often see chicago fans complain about the quality of bulls PG play on their boards.

  • lol .. I wonder if someone will send her the highlights

  • memo from FO? lol

  • thanks
that’s so weird .. King made a 180 degree turnaround

  • wu kong

Alright captain America! Refresh for image

  • blubell

True, he did complain about the current state of the team esp. at PG on the radio. You could sense he doesn’t like what DRose is doing right now and pretty much said that he need to keep his mouth shut. haha.

  • jeremy

depends on how refs feeling that day

  • wu kong

My reply. Haha I think I’m funny. ??https://twitter.com/monkeyes2/status/673407289831899136

  • bolero

    show casing Lin . lol

  • occupatio

hehe, the brain-dead comments that rose makes to media are pretty amazing.

anyway, did you notice that brooks didnt play at all tonight? i wonder if hes out of the rotation now.

  • blubell

He used to trash Jeremy and loved Beverly. Majority of NBA radio hosts were anti-Lin but this season not so much. I don’t know what changed.

  • CJSHYY

Normally this commentators will change all by the team’s order… Like Rox….

  • blubell

No one likes a snitch lol.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Don’t worry. Papa Lin was watching the game:-)

  • CJSHYY

Maybe Bulls really wants to get Lin but it’s better they can get rid of Rose first then talk to Lin… Haha!

  • blubell

Hmm. I didn’t notice. Maybe he’s sick and tired of Jeremy blocking his shots and posting up on him. lol.

  • blubell

It should be Mama Lin on that poster 🙂

  • occupatio

haha. ‘coach, keep me out of the game. i dont want to be owned by lin again.’

so, i looked it up. brooks been DNP-CD lately.
    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/brookaa01/gamelog/2016/

anyhow, you said something about chicago radio. you listen to that, so you are in chicago?

  • of course we also have the infamous Duncan getting T while sitting on bench lol
    (refresh)

  • real-dsb

Great to see Lin get to be a key contributor to the win, and play most of the 4th quarter.

I defended Clifford last game. GSW was blowing out CHA, no need to play Lin much with an injured ankle, especially not 4th quarter garbage time. I can understand that some people think Clifford is not doing enough for Lin, but comparing Clifford to Scott or McHale treatment of Lin is like comparing a fender bender to a rollover accident.

    Consider these facts:

    1. Lin’s USAGE (23.2%), PTS/36 (16.7), and FGA/36 (13.2) are all significantly higher than the previous 3 years.

    2. McHale and Scott decreased Lin’s playing time despite him playing well. Clifford has increased Lin’s playing time despite an outside shooting slump. (First 10 games: 21.7 MPG.
    Last 9 games: 23.8 MPG)

Despite Lin only shooting 13% from 16+ ft and 31% from 3PT, Clifford has increased Lin’s PT. That tells me that Clifford recognizes Lin’s other skills.

I know we’d all like Lin to be a starter, get 30 MPG, etc. I believe that when Lin snaps out of his funk and returns to his career shooting percentages, he will earn even more PT.

  • Sweet revenge for that ball on the head video lol

  • blubell

No. I’m in CA. Stacy King is one of the co-hosts on the XM NBA Radio’s “Above the Rim” which I sometimes listen to on my long commute to work.

  • occupatio

hrm. ‘above the rim’ doesnt have podcast. is it good?

  • 100% agree.

When I see people said McHale & BScott are better than Clifford, I knew people quickly forgot about bad things & remembered only the good things. I will never forget McHale staying silent after JLin shutdown Parker, contained Conley & other PG in a string of games. If he praised JLin, he can’t justify making Bev the starter. That’s how JLin had to fight off the bench PG label now. Plus throwing Lin under the bus for wanting to score 28pts but 9TOs, which he never did. Only his superstar Harden did it and he said nothing about it.

At least Clifford praised JLin’s defense for 2 games before staying silent for 2-3 games.
And yes, if Lin’s shooting improves and he scored more, I expect even more PT

This game is one step closer in the right direction

  • occupatio

  • blubell

You have to be a subscriber to xm radio to access podcast I think. I wouldn’t say good or bad. They only focus on the popular teams and once in a while mention smaller market teams. In previous seasons, Jeremy was mentioned few times because Harden and Kobe were hot topics. They were either neutral or anti Lin, never high on him. They said Beverly is an elite defender, Kobe doesn’t have talent around him, blah blah blah. They are starting to change their tune this season. I think they finally see what what Harden and Kobe truly is.

  • james brown

as i watched it, end of the quarter, Jlin fell on the side of Bulls and that person (asst Coach) just tap Jlin to make sure he’s ok..i guess no special anything to make other story about it. part of the game.

  • your son’s voltaire

“he’s not a bad ball-player!” is hardly a compliment but it’s much better than most game commentators

  • Spot

Don’t agree. McHale, in first 2 games, knew how to play Jeremy, especially in the Atlanta game (21+8+10 for Jeremy). Then something happened.

Jeremy had plays for him, got criticized cause McHale was an old school coach who wants to see if you can take it (like Pop with Parker).

We used to say bad words to McHale cause Jeremy didn’t start games and didn’t close out games sometime.
Now we got use to it and if Jeremy plays little more than 20 minutes with few touches we are OK.

The difference, anyway, is McHale had Howard and Harden. Here there are Kemba and Al (even if he’s injuried). Not the same thing. But this could be positive cause Charlotte can’t win without Jeremy against top teams.

About Byron, he was just a Kobe’s soldier.

  • Spot

Things will go like that til the end of the season.

In need they must play Jeremy to win games against top teams. Let’s see what happens in the future.

  • Yascar

I can understand your viewpoint that we have lowered expectations somewhat but agree with Psalm on this one.

To a certain extent the reason why our expectations were lowered over the years was because of McHale. Had he stuck with Jeremy like he did those first 2 games you refer to, I firmly believe Jeremy would have eventually risen to the challenge and still be an established starter by now.

And McHale didn’t have Howard that first year, even Parsons was just a developing player then – his biggest name was Harden, then Lin. So I would argue in that first year, it was the “same thing, ” only worse because he destroyed Jeremy’s confidence and altered his career trajectory significantly.

Anyway, to each his own opinion. Water under the bridge now. Let’s just hope Jeremy makes something of this season.

  • occupatio

    boo

  • Spot

To me it was Morey, not McHale. Anyway, it is what it is.

    Let’s see what happens next.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

We just have to wait and see. The season is still long. Another 63 games to go. Anything can happen between now and then.

  • your son’s voltaire

    some positives:
-Lin’s defense was superb once again. 5 rebs, 3 stls, and was everywhere causing havok
-coach closed out the game with Lin for his defense. thank you Marvin for fouling at 2:25 left to play
-Lin moved without the ball very well in this game. scored 2 buckets off backdoor cuts
-pnp. Lin drove, drew in 2-3 defenders, then kicked it back out to Hawes for WIDE open 3’s. he did this 3 times
-pnr. Lin used the screen, drove, probed, drew in 2 defenders, and finally dropped it off to PsychoT for the easy flush

    some negatives:
-teammates icing Lin out like how his Rockets teammates did. he is becoming more and more of a defensive minded player and his teammates and coaches seem to picked it up. unfortunately, they don’t even see him as an offensive option now
-Lin over-helped and left McDermott for a wide open 3 at a crucial moment of the game even after coach had put him for his defense. i thought for sure he’d get yanked for good. gotta be smarter than this
-Lin missed a point blank layup (bank-shot). he rushed it thinking a defender was coming up behind him

  • Spot

Yep. With Jeremy you never know what can happen.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

That’s right. He doesn’t have a script to follow. So, we just have to ride the journey with him. Still waiting for the perfect storm to come:-)

  • Spot

Lin, right now, is a superb player. He just needs a decent coach. Til now he hadn’t one.

Anyway, he should stop to overhelp and follow the ball.

  • Spot

We’ll always keep the faith !
Good or bad we’ll still be here. 😉

  • your son’s voltaire

yes. i think if he stop over-helping, he’d be considered an excellent defender. kinda weird because you want players to help yet Lin does too much of is and making him look really bad

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Agreed. Just kind of hard at times to see his fans bashed JLin and his team. Have no desire to read or post anything when that happen esp when I was busy and couldn’t watch the games…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Only saw one mistake that I watched the game from the last couple minutes in 2nd qtr. Saw him did a very good job in disrupting different players in different times. Love to see that. He is very good in reading what’s going on in the game now. I give him a pass on that one. They still won the game. Other players didn’t even bother to defend. Never respect those players no matter how many points they made.

  • your son’s voltaire

that’s my point. other players can’t even contain their own man. Lin contains his own man, helps on defense, then erases everything he did simply by over-helping too many times. what’s worst is he did it at the last 2 minutes of the game. that’s when people pay attention. he needs to be a lot smarter than that because this is basically his contract year (again). work smarter, not harder. be more aggressive on the offensive end

  • Spot

Melody, agree, but sometime he completely lose his man to follow the ball to help a teammate and that leaves a wide open man if opponent team play well.
And all this run on D affects his offense. That’s why I keep saying he needs a good coach.

And a thing I didn’t like today was the fact he tried go drew the contact instead of going for the layup and 2 points.

  • Spot

It reminds me of a Bible script:

    “Watchman, what of the night?”

    Morning will come.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Well, these probably were the main reasons that he was able to play more minutes and closing game today because of his defense and did what Cliff want him to play and improve on???

As JLin said in Fung’s vid that was released couple weeks ago: there were lots of things we, as fans, experts and non players weren’t aware of that were happened in the game and behind the scenes. Not going to speculate. To me as long as JLin played his best and continues to improve, I’m okay. When JLin made mistakes. He knows more than anyone of us. He would learn from it and continues to work on his “weaknesses.” I could see how much he has improved from beginning of season til now. He continues to surprise me and I’m thrilled for those improvement.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Amen!

  • your son’s voltaire

here’s the thing though. we as fans watch all of his games and can appreciate that he’s doing everything possible to win the game. but coaches and gm’s don’t see it that way. it’s Lin’s contract year. he has to play smarter than this

  • JoeTeam

    You’re becoming bball savvy

  • JoeTeam

People are remembering kind great games and are as you said forgetting the bad parts.

  • Dan Cohen

that’s not nice to say..joakim was cool to linna.

  • Dan Cohen

but this is nothing…so you can give up on hornets.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    WOW! Thanks for the compliment!

  • JoeTeam

Thx, I missed it to much football.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Coaches and GMS do notice. If not, why they always put 2-3 players on him and not Kemba and others?????????? Why the announcers have changed their tone about JLin like King in this game??????? People do notice, not just JLin fans.

JLin does know more than anyone of us. This is in his 6th season in NBA. All of us are just his fans. That’s why he has to tone out outside noise including his own family at times. He is living in the present (he is with Hornets, Cliff…..), he needs to work with coaches and play their games. He also needs to gel with his teammates to play teamball. He knows what he needs to work on and what the nuances are in that team/organization. He has improved since preseason. He works on to be a more complete player. Never doubt he is one of the most if not the most hardworking player. For now, the last thing in his mind is his contract in 6-8 months from now. This is my take from listening to all his interviews, testimonies, Q&A for multiple times in the past 3-4 years.

  • K. P. Chan

Psalm: I was really happy for Lin last night. It seemed he was getting recognition for his tireless defense. It was good to see. It did give me new hopes.

But you will pardon me for being just cautiously optimistic, at least for the moment. Have we not seen on more than one occasions when Lin played great but was benched inexplicably (match-up, heights, and TO’s that were not even his fault, etc)? And have we not seen others struggling mightily but staying in anyway?

Now if Lin needs to play like a man possessed on defense in order to crack the 15-17 minute playing time ceiling, that’ fine. I trust he can and will do it. But I want to see a sustained pattern in which Cliff will consistently utilize Lin when he plays well.

I say this not as a wet blanket while many Lin fans were breathing a sigh of relief, but as a caution that we still need to see Cliff treating Lin consistently.

Lastly, from a personal perspective, I am also trying to avoid the emotional roller-coaster courtesy of the coaches who don’t treat Lin fairly. These coaches need to prove they are worth their salt to Lin, not the other way around.

  • adele

Lin follows his coach instructions. So if that’s what the coach tells him to do he will do his best. Sigh…hope he really finds himself a coach who can let him be the play maker and leader in the court. Until that happens, we just have to be content and watch the kind of coaching that Clifford gives to Lin. Some writers are now putting in their thoughts.

Jlin got the rebound, didn’t pass it to kw for last shot. Dribble clock out, pnr with psychoT.
Is that the coach call? Is that just jlin call, being more assertive?

  • guest

Being a consummate team mate and a very coachable player, I think Lin is following Coach Clifford’s calls.

But it’s hard for me to take instructions from a superior who lied to me time and again, h***-bent to to suppress me and demonstrate favoritism. Lin must be in a not so happy environment…sigh

  • TTNN

wow, that’s a strange conclusion, you spend the time shouting at the monitors about every Lin’s mistake or potential mistakes, rather than cheer for his success plays, and even think it would have been a disaster. Tiger mom too much. I’m glad Lin did not play the way you wished.

Actually I like his helping defense, it obviously was by design since when he do that, you notice his teammates are helping to cover him. That’s at least the part I have not give up coach Cliff yet, since that’s one part of Lin much better than other players, his IQ to read the flow, his speed to recover, and his tendency to drift out of his position all helped him to defend this way.

He was used this way once in Houston and it was very successful. I’m glad coach Cliff let him do that and arrange the team defense to enable him to use that trait, Lin was able to disrupt a lot of plays this way. I will call this aggressive defense; it is like Lin could use his creativity to make a defensive play even.

  • TTNN

I think he wanted, and coach did not stop him.

Next season, when MKG is back, he will be playing SF and Batum, being groom to be SG this season, naturally will be the starting SG. Kemba Walker, undoubtedly will start at PG since he’s handpicked by MJ.

So no matter how Jeremy performs on court, whether a supersub or 9th option on the team, he has no hope to start at either SG or PG next season. Just wish his camp, including his agents could have done a better job in drafting his contract creatively since Jeremy is a unique player given his ethnicity, educational background, skillsets, etc. Just don’t go on the conventional contract, be more creative and transforming the lessons into some form of knowledge to safeguard his starter status and ensure his long term prospects in the NBA.

  • JeremyLinthebest

Haven’t posted in a while but it turns out that has been a blessing in disguise because I was forced to take a step back and not look at Lin’s performance game by game. Instead, taken as a whole, I think there are more positives than negatives, although I will admit the past few games before this CHI game were really starting to get me concerned. I won’t speculate on why Lin has seemingly not performed up to pre-season expectations because I don’t have any inside info (none of us has, really), so I just try to enjoy whatever I see, which wasn’t much in the past few games unfortunately. I’m sure Lin will figure things out, and cope as best he can in what has been a rather yo-yo kind of season so far. That’s been the story of his life, whether fans like me like it or not. All I know is, with Lin, I will need a good seatbelt! The selfish part of me wants him to shoot more, take things in his own hands, not defer so much, but I always remember that Linsanity was as much about playing well with team mates, whoever they are, as it was about Lin’s individual brilliance. He’s the pro-ball player, I will just enjoy whatever he does. This way, he can go Linsane or not, I will at least keep my sanity!

  • your son’s voltaire

the “shouting” was a bit of an exaggeration. i was more annoyed than anything, mostly about the icing out by other players. and help defense is good. nobody is against that. Lin tends to OVER help

  • your son’s voltaire

if so, then how come he only got 2 mil for this season, being marginalized, playing limited minutes, and only sometime get to close out the game? i was actually referring to coaches treating him badly, and gm’s who aren’t rushing to give him decent contract offers

  • TTNN

there are enough you guys like you kind of go out and pick on Lin’s every mistakes and even potential mistakes now. That’s a bit too much, even Lin hater would think that’s getting old and not do that much, but you tiger mom fans pic up the slack and continued.

Without Lin hustles and disruption w/ Bulls offensive alignment Hornets have lose this game I’ll give him B+.Batum had a A-game except of not looking on Lin’s side most of the time.Kemba was a C on this game,I won’t elaborate his game since we all now it.Zeller have a monster game I’ll give him A+,he’s not just scoring but also defending at the same time,he keeps the Hornets on the 3rd quarter on the striking distance.Lamb C+,If his shot aren’t falling he’s a big liability on the floor,Lamb was just trying to do so much.Hawes was B-,he actually played well especially on those 3’s.Kaminsky C-,he’s becoming a chucker and a lazy defender for his height.Marvin Williams was just off on this game I’ll give him C since he’s defense is still ok although he let Butler and Mcdermont lit him up.PJ had a 3 good defensive play on the 1st quarter but he’s just totally a waste of minutes on the floor I’ll give him D.Hansbrough had a perfect game,if he received a good amount of playing time, who knows?….

  • It’s certainly good to take the cautious optimism approach, KP

What has been consistent from Clifford so far was the scoring mentality besides the defense and rebounding.

If we looked at Lin FG attempts, he hit the lowest of 4-6 FGA during the latest 3 games (WSH, CLE, MIL) with limited min. But the other games, Lin averages between 7 and 13 FGA. Last night JLin had 9 FGAs. He continued to shoot his 3s despite having 0-3. He had a good long 2 so it will come for sure.

I (cautiously) believe Clifford will give JLin min if he keeps shooting 8-10 FGAs (and making 35-40%) plus good defense/rebounding (which Lamb doesn’t provide)

Let’s see if this holds true for requirement of JLin to close games.

  • Charlie S

Small victories. JLin is now considered a defensive specialist in the Hornets eyes. Now we just need to work on showing them what a great offensive asset he is

  • CJSHYY

I think they know otherwise Cliff would not ask Lin to run O in that OT vs King…They just don’t want Lin to do too much.

  • K. P. Chan

Good point about Lin’s FGA’s, Psalm. He certainly didn’t seem he lacked confidence even when the shots didn’t fall in. So I agree that eventually the shots will come.

It was also possible that he had tired legs last night, having run ragged all over the court on defense. Hopefully his body will get into an equilibrium as he settles more into his current role. Then things should really look up for him.

He does plenty now on offense without scoring. To your point, if he actually puts up some more points, my concern will be moot because there will be no more excuse not to play him.

  • sws94

I don’t agree with the premise Tyler doesn’t play having anything to do with Lin. Tyler seems to foul prone and Clifford doesn’t like guys fouling a lot. That’s my guess. I think Tyler should play much more and KHuang may be right that TH would be the best big for Lin.

  • sws94

Hawes and Frank are jump shooters. When they hit 3s they help Lin get assists and he gets it to them. But Lin needs a real PnR guy too, like Tyler may be.

  • sws94

He may be clumsier than Sacre.

  • sws94

Clifford said he was planning to go back to Tyler in the 2nd half but Spencer played well. Said a lot of players played well. That were focused in practice. He was happy with the team. Said most of the teams in the East have a similar level talent and all have to get better. Then there was a question on Batum and Cliff said his usual stuff. No questions or comments on Lin.

  • Acbc

It’s a thing of beauty the way Lin does it, such body control to shrink himself down to launch himself through the hole like a running back

  • Acbc

Disagree, IMO always give up a more difficult shot instead of an easy one. Defence is all about team rotations to protect the easy ones. It’s planned chaos. Clifford knows how weak the interior defence is and has perimeter guys sag in to help rebounding and stop penetration.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

How come you didn’t list Lin’s mpg under McHale of the first season?

  • heart

Yep. The next contract should be written out and drafted clearly with penalty clauses if they go back on their word. Chandler Parson’s agent had drafted a tight contract for him w/ Mavs to not get traded. If they do, there’s hefty money penalty paid to him and the trade has to be agreed by him. I did read that somewhere when CP went to Mavs.

  • Sinners_Gospel

Hornets can go 10-3 to close the year.

  • heart

Will Hornets/Cliff remember Lin’s contribution next time? It’s a high probability that Cliff knows Lin’s capability but will continue to misuse him.

  • jeremy

I dont think he can get a starter clause lol
and dont think Lin is in the postion to demand that much

  • heart

I believe anything is possible. It’s contract negotiation, give and take. They’re taking advantage of him being trusting and all… It’s high noon that he and his team draft a better contract for him. The way these people keep on changing their tune after they get him, it has happened at least three times now. Lin needs to protect himself w/tight contract clauses. He can’t trust their verbal agreement any more. It’s used to be a man’s word is trustworthy, but not anymore.

  • sws94

He did well in the last game. A few 3s fall and a few more made FTs and Lin has 14-16 pts. Points aren’t as important as his hustle, assists, being more in the offensive flow, overall defense. He kept at 1 foul in the first which I’m glad to see and he didn’t do the drive into the defender who draws an offensive foul on him, he drew one on Rose. He did very well.

  • sws94

Yes. But honestly, he yells at all the players that aren’t in the right position. That’s what a coach does. Lin does have to watch that because it’s annoying to have a player keep making the same mistake.

  • David Kim

Many people commented that Lin not shooting well because he uses lots of energy in defense. I think it’s because of changing shooting form. It will take time to change shooting form and to get used to. I believe Lin can do well in both ends of floor. When he gets used to new shooting form, he will get better at shooting. I think he will be more complete player in both ends this season.

  • JoeTeam

D is not too bad, if you consider the long and strong Iggy on GSW. JLin can initiate better offense and guild others more, and then see Iggy’s late resurgence that centered around him not being a starter and then culminated in being MVP of GSW (I think for that game or series) when they beat CLE.

So being really good on D will get you the championship one day, if you find a team with balance.

  • sws94

PFV’s new video is good. I think he has a very practical view of Lin.

The following comments are my view of Clifford’s view of Lin. I don’t necessarily agree with all of them but I think Lin has a chance to grow as a player with Clifford but in other areas than fans would like.

I don’t think Clifford sees Lin as a 1 more than swing 1/2 and I think he wants to develop the off-ball aspects of Lin’s game. So we see Lin cut more off ball, facilitate from the wing and have only a few minutes of him directing the offense at the 1. I think he will challenge Lin to play really difficult 2s more than 1s and late in the game. Also as a disruptive defender.

I think the minutes are 22-26 mostly, so either we accept that or not. There may be sub minutes for some games and more others. I think Lin will close a sizable amount of games, Lamb isn’t ready. I also think as some pointed out on Charlotte forums, Lamb is more scouted more and won’t perform as well as he has going forward. Lin is used to the pressure and is learning how to make adjustments to it. And his team mates, hopefully, will help him with screens and picks and being where Lin expects them to be.

  • heart

It’s a combination of these–spent energy on defense, shot tweaking and inconsistent minutes/role. Lin will find ways to get through them and will be a “complete player by end of this season” like you said.

  • sws94

His role is quite consistent. His minutes aren’t, but hopefully become more as the season goes on. The defense does take a lot of energy out of a player. Really good players, like LeBron, turn it on it the late periods, but Lin doesn’t really have that option.

  • JoeTeam

I’m glad you posted this. While I’ve never played coached bball, I did play gym ball for about 25-30 yrs. You have to help on D to create a good flowing D. I’ve watched the bball you tubes coaching no over help, but to me as a longtime-realtime game player (soccer, bball, rugby) you have to go out from set positions and gamble to create that Defensive spirit and net. It’s not like football or baseball where there is so much set plays and a broken play doesn’t really count in a surge to win. To those games, realtime plays are the exception and while they do make a difference, no player or coach gets fired for broken plays against them. In realtime games, broken plays are the play, so it’s way more fluid.

So, my upvote to you is all about refuting all that language about over help, because you do get nailed for it on video, but in context of a whole game and flow, that spot mistake that you cannot control sets up fierce team D that is so necessary to change momentum or start the downhill run.

  • JoeTeam

I agree, that tiger fans do that. I also think it is a mindset, that if they can coach lin through the boards, it makes them feel better. I don’t feel better trying to affect something that I do not control. It’s a no win situation. In fact, I feel worse, and people around me think I’m nuts.

Now, on the other hand, the hard part is having responsibility but no authority (control). That isn’t even a question when you are a TV fan, so honestly, this tiger fan stuff makes no sense except that it’s a reflection on the tiger fan him/herself.

  • JoeTeam

And I can see your post ending up in bullet points added to the other ones on Lin’s negotiating resume.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Yes agree his role is quite consistent like run to the corner and be the first running back defense.

  • cdblue10

If Clifford can find a balance between Lin and Waker as a PG then this team will play better.Walker can’t elevate this team since his just a one sided player,on this game Rose was just doing what he wants when Walker was guarding him.Eighteen games was good enough to know what Lin can do on this team but Clifford is still blind to see a lot of things.I know he needs t o justify Lin’s minutes since he’s just a filler but on any given nights Lin always emerge as the x-factor of this team.

  • sws94

    Maybe.

Coach here is not minimizing Lin to appease star players here as I saw as Woodson, McHale and to the highest extent Scott did. Cliff favors 2 players, but seems to try to get more out of some, like Lin and Lamb, to interact with those 2 players. That will make for a happier Lin if not an ecstatic one. And one where at least some of his skills will be developed.

  • JoeTeam

yep. and I just can’t figure if you want to win, why overuse KW and JLamb. He has Hawes on an performance leash, and Batum delivers but KW and JLamb consistently get overplayed for their consistent output.

I don’t think it is as decisive as in Rox or LAL so for me it’s up to them,

  • cdblue10

Something is really cooking in Bulls land.

  • occupatio

instead of just dismissing this kind of reaction, it is important to understand where it comes from.

put simply: many white people are conditioned to be “color blind” ie, to pretend that ethnic differences do not exist. this is a very particular, and also very common, notion of what it means to NOT be racist. that is why lin fans, especially asian fans, who recognize lin’s ethnicity instead of being color-blind about it makes many white people very uncomfortable. because that is directly contradictory to the idea of “color-blindess.”

the main problem with “color blindness” is that it pretends that everyone is perceived the same way even though that is obviously not true. pretending that differences do not exist makes it nearly impossible to have a worthwhile conversation about discrimination.

anyway, i think color-blindness is silly, but it is a pervasive idea. it is important to understand that the negative reaction to lin fans is not just due to discrimination but precisely the opposite: that white people are trying not to be racists, but in a misguided way.

  • Rick Johnson

Jeremy’s hair has gotten noticeably longer especially noticeable since he spikes it up. In that hair grows at about 1/2″ per month it will be 2″ longer by the end of the season. Can you imagine what that will look like spiked up?

  • CJSHYY

i think the reason they won this game was because everyone was pissed over the last one against golden state, including jeremy lin. They all did whatever they could to win yesterday to redeem themselves.

  • cdblue10

  • Briiick

I hope they will give Lin an offer next season.

    ok. will keep in mind.

  • sws94

Is this because you think he’d start? I’m not so sure he would. There are good big men there but do they PnR? Do they play at a pace that would allow Lin to run? I’m not convinced he’d be able to use any more of his game there than he does in Charlotte. Nor is there anything to say that the Bulls coach would use him more than Clifford does. Do you know of any?

and also if we just clear all history youll never be able to be taken back to the reagan years.

  • 1mtoldman

its the opposite sydrome; many (most) lin fans feel lin is discriminated against because of his ethnicity.

non lin fans feel the opposite; take the mayweather approach; (ie. the only reason lin gets any attention is because of his ethnicity).

its not a new or unusual thought.

trying to be nice and cool to this poster probably means acknowleding them (lin fans) but not taking seriously lin as anything other than a scrub.

(which is what his number in charlotte more than either houston or la. point to and continue to trend to despite desparte attempts to reconfigure numbers to make it look otherwise by many here included and at this point i would say primarily or at least in majority who feel that well lin is being treated much better here, doing much better here jsut because there is not a obvious anti-lin vibe present).

Did it really take us Lin fans and some of the writers on sports blog being upset and sharing it on social media for 3 days to finally allow Lin to get a fair chance with the Hornets? I hope this isn’t just a one time thing and they actually trust Lin as backup PG the rest of the season. Everyone seem to have shared the ball well yesterday and the stats show.

  • LinMad

I don’t know, it looks like Lin doesn’t have a defined role yet. If Lin gets to play like he did yesterday the rest of the season then I’ll know Lin can call Charlotte his home.

  • cdblue10

Yeah…but I don’t think Hornets will do that, unless they’re really interested with Noah. For Bulls they’ll make that trade w/o hesitation.

  • cdblue10

They need to upgrade their PG,that’s their #1 priority.

  • cdblue10

He can still be a solid player but he’s a shadow of his former self.

  • Briiick

As I said before, fans can only expose their marginalization of Lin for fabricating studs , so that they don’t get away easily with other excuses for losing games.

  • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Agree with this…Sadly, Lin is simply not playing PG enough…He could do so much more if Clifford would balance out Kemba/Lin PG duty.

What really needs to be done if for Clifford to stop playing Kemba 35+ minutes every night…Some may say Kemba is needed to play so much because of his scoring, but you also have to look at the fact that Kemba doesn’t create enough assist..he only can create for himself.

At this point, I’m hoping Lin can get his PPG up to 12 and than leave Charlotte…Lin is a PG not a SG…While I like him to play SG to get additional minutes, I still want him to play 15 minutes at the PG.

Why the Lakers should regret letting Jeremy Lin walk
    http://www.morningnewsusa.com/jeremy-lin-stats-helped-lakers-2347244.html

  • CJSHYY

I think Lakers also wants to give Russells & Randle to pad more stats for trade in the future… These two are …. smh!

  • 1mtoldman

master tell us, what is this strange thing called an assist we have heard spoken of in other realms.

  • LinMad

I liked this section of the article however I feel that Lin needs more play time to actually take on the commercial value of Lin for a long time. If Lin doesn’t get his time to shine in Charlotte, Lin fans will probably hurt the franchise more than help it. There has already been many articles about Lin being mistreated or lied to by Clifford/Hornets FO and Lin fans weren’t happy before the game yesterday.

    http://www.morningnewsusa.com/jeremy-lin-stats-helped-lakers-2347244.html

Jeremy Lin And His Commercial Value

Also, the Lakers organization benefitted from a commercial standpoint during Lin’s one-year stint. Despite Kobe Bryant sitting out most of last season with injuries, Lakers secured healthy merchandise and ticket sales thanks largely to Lin’s presence in The Big Orange.

Lin’s fanbase is comparable to many of the top superstars in the league Ask the Hornets organization that has seen a meteoric rise in commercial interest since Lin’s arrival. Michael Jordan, a shrewd businessman, wanted Lin for more than just his on-court abilities. Jordan knew that having Lin around would arouse media and commercial interest. And Jeremy Lin has certainly lived up to expectations.

  • Joe what do you know

I really don’t blame them. They were put into a toxic environment without proper nurturing since day 1 of their NBA career. They have the worst coach in the league who doesn’t reward good plays and good efforts. They are not stupid. They are mostly likely wanting to escape from this sinking ship ASAP so what they’re doing now is to pad their own stats to look good for potential suitors

  • LinMad

I just watched the yesterday’s game again and I realized that the one mistake Lin made in the 4th where he left McDermont opened for the 3 really really really pissed off Clifford. He was cursing all over the place. If he will blow up like that for each mistake Lin makes, I think this isn’t the team for him. I never seen Clifford that angry before at another player this season.

  • sws94

about Charlotte’s bench. info from RealGM.

The opposite of the Hornets. Their bench is top 5 and the last 10 games #1 in the league. Starters are about average but I think that’ll improve with Jefferson out.

    http://stats.nba.com/league/team/#!/advanced/?Season=2015-16&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&StarterBench=Bench&sort=NET_RATING&dir=1&DateFrom=10%2F05%2F2015&LastNGames=9

  • CJSHYY

0-8 for Kobe so far… no point.

  • heart

I’m not dissing on Cliff on this one, but I truly want to know if you have seen clips of Cliff cursing out on KW’s many misses of his defense assignments and/or NB on his many TOs? I usually have don’t have the patience to re-watch the game.

  • CJSHYY

Detroit commentators on Randle & Russells are the future for Lakers…. no comments after that… LOL!

  • 1mtoldman

lakers threatening to establish a new stat: turnover to assist ratio. 13/3

  • Briiick

LOL, organizations only begin to regret after losing Lin, Hornets might not be a exception either.

Stats: The terrible Lakers could have used Jeremy Lin right now.
    http://www.morningnewsusa.com/jeremy-lin-stats-helped-lakers-2347244.html

  • LinMad

nope, i haven’t seen Cliff yelled at Kemba before but I have seen him yell at Batum. It’s nothing at the level I’ve seen him do it to Lin yesterday but I don’t know, I guess it was a close game and in the 4th qtr so he really got mad.

  • CJSHYY

I think Lakers still wants to loss, I guess everything will be like last season.

  • heart

    thanks.

  • Warren

let’s hope Hornets don’t make the stupid mistake that everyone else does. i think this team is perfect for him. and slowly, his minutes will increase.

  • LinMad

lol Nick got to play 4 minutes today with 1 shot attempt

  • Warren
  • Joe what do you know

Playing him extremely low min with bugger all usage is the best way to sabotage his stats and make him look bad. Byron Scott is the real snake…. I hate that scum with a passion…

Dude. You’ve posted the same link 4-5 times already. Give it a rest.

    Hello Mr Psalm,

I was wondering if you can share/highlight this Jeremy Lin article?
    http://www.morningnewsusa.com/jeremy-lin-stats-helped-lakers-2347244.html

    Thank you.

  • Warren

he probably got pissed off by a paparazzi taking pics and asking stupid questions.

  • CJSHYY

    No about fans….

  • Warren

maybe some fan got his nerves during practice session 🙁

  • CJSHYY

I guess some fans said something bad about him to be in Hornets….

  • Jimmy

He’s probably on Panthers’ bandwagon now.

  • CJSHYY

I guess fans sent him some tweets that made him mad…

  • Warren

makes sense.. can’t believe people still bother him for no reason. so sad.

  • Warren

lol marcelo huertas might be the worst player in the league right now. only Fakers can recruit such a scrub.

  • 1mtoldman

actually huertas has been in one category the best player on the lakers tonite: he is the only laker to have more assists than turnovers.

of all qualified players in the nba there is not a single player who doesn’t have more assists than turnovers on the season

yet in tonites game of the ten lakers who played thru the first 3 quarters: not one of them had more assists then turnovers.

  • LinMad

    wait what??? i still understand.

  • LinMad

    can you explain more?

  • Warren

tonight he’s been okay. but otherwise this season, he has been terrible. so many turnovers. he keeps getting blocked too. his shot release is terrible.

  • Warren

maybe some bandwagon fan from LA told him something offensive. this is what i’m guessing.

  • CJSHYY

Una shamed bandwagon fan. I live in Charlotten now. Sorry I am not sorry.

  • LinMad

????? ya that’s what Im asking…what does that mean?

  • LinMad

oh so he wanted to make sure they know he’s from Charlotte now. I see.

  • Warren

    ya.. something like that.

  • kauaiblue

Jeremy, please use your clout in your fanbase to tell clifford to bug off and to demand a fair chance! no more mr. nice guy!

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    It’s about Panthers

  • heart

    What is CAM?

  • Sunny Sullenberger

    Cam Newton, Panthers QB

  • heart

    thanks.

  • zxcvb

He put Lin back in to close, so that’s much more telling. Judge by actions rather than words.

It’s better than McFired and B.S. being “nice” to Lin and then benching him for Bev/Price.

  • John Focker

Kobe needs him (for contrast purposes) to look good.

  • Warren

    ha ha

  • CJSHYY

    Or Rox fans….

  • CJSHYY
  • cdblue10

That’s the best way to win games when all teammates feel that they’re part of the team, the best way to celebrate glories.

  • John Focker

Clarkson, Randle and D’Angelo must be upset as h3ck too, except they’re all holding their tongue until April.

  • sure, although they propose Lin would be a good backup PG in LA they can see Lakers is missing him

  • Warren

    thanks 🙂

  • Joe what do you know

Yes….. They haven’t established enough reputation for any team to take them on board for what they want…. So at this moment…. I really feel for them. As for swaggy, he’s at the point in his career where he’s got enough reputation and he really don’t give a **** anymore.

  • TTNN

    unashamed bandwagon fan.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The Kings is sticking it to the Thunder. It’s a heck of a game. The Kings comes back and overtakes the Thunder in the 4th by outscoring them 24:8. The 2 superstars fail to save the Thunder.

  • occupatio

even if there prolly arent examples with other players, that by itself doesnt mean much. cuz no one helps/overhelps like lin on the team so there are not comparable situations.

  • occupatio

byron is an embarrassment to himself.

  • occupatio

you think youre much more important than you are if you think what fans say has any effect on lin’s minutes. unreal.

I think they would add another bull/draft pick in that particular trade.

  • CaliUSMC

That’s what people said last year… and the year before. He always goes back to his old form.

  • LAJane

In order to be a bad defender, there has to be some defending going on. This is almost an assist 🙂

  • John Focker

    Sass!!!

Harden was more concerned about placing a timely blame on his teamma…er, I mean “pieces”, than actually stopping the opponent from scoring.

  • LAJane

Off topic, but can’t resist. LA is NOT the Big Orange. That’s Orange County, quite a bit to the south of us. Yes, yes, LA’s been referred to as the Big Orange by some media folk now and then, but non-LA media folk for whom anything west of the Mississippi is a big blank. LA’s nickname is, well, LA.

  • your son’s voltaire

this is the second time this week that he did this exact same thing. stopping to complain about a a no-call

  • your son’s voltaire

he hopped on the bandwagon cus of the panthers current undefeated record. and not ashamed of it

  • your son’s voltaire

feel sorry for Nick. he’s getting the Lin treatment and is self-destructing

  • Yascar

It means he’s now a fan of the Panthers and Cam Newton and he doesn’t care if people think he’s just joined the bandwagon because they are doing so well. It’s often the case that if people are not from the area (in this case Charlotte) or have never cared about the team before, they will be called “bandwagon” fans as opposed to “real” fans because they won’t really support the team when they start losing or when the fan moves to another city. Jeremy says he doesn’t care! 🙂

  • Dan Ang

Just watched the highlights., Stacey King reluctantly saids, “tell you what man, Jeremy Lin doesn’t get a lot of credit, he’s not a bad playa!”Best part of the video. LOL

  • Rick Johnson

Feel sorry for Nick. He seems like he’s always smiling happy go lucky but he’s had a pretty tough upbringing. Brother killed by gang members, other had mental breakdown after shooting.

  • your son’s voltaire

shooting form has nothing to do with the blotched layups, especially a bank one under the basket, that’s fatigue

  • CJSHYY

Oh! That’s really too much plus BS bad treatment from work. smh!

  • CJSHYY
  • JoeTeam

for those of you who are always upset that Lin gets no credit, here’s an example of stars and others:

GSW just best Nets for the 2nd time.

If you read this, you think Steph did it:

    http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=400828187

Actually, if you go to the NBA.com play-by-play, you will see the 2nd unit caused the separation early in the 4th, so Steph only had to play 3 minutes in the 4th. Until then, GSW just couldn’t get clear separation. I didn’t watch the game, watched the whole game on play-by-play so this was so poignant to me.

Next time you expect to see JLin written up with stars, and it doesn’t happen, I’m just saying … it happens to the best team in the sport right now.

  • CJSHYY

This is the standard intro statement for Kobe now? Almost every team he went all did the same… I wonder when he visits Hornets what MJ will do for him?

    https://twitter.com/NBA/status/673726659749527552

  • CJSHYY
  • Warren
  • if he keeps shooting 2-15 for 5pts after the nice intro, every team in the NBA will keep doing it =)

He had lengthy accomplishment in the NBA so I guess he deserves some acknowledgement for making NBA richer.
It’s all part of the biz

  • Singapore BB Fan

Probably Markieff should first consult his brother Marcus.

  • CJSHYY

But if trade like Lawson… Markieff has no choice….

  • Singapore BB Fan

No turning back for Mr. Kobe. Every team is forcing him into early Retirement.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    LOL

  • CJSHYY

Ya! It’s all about biz & money$$$. After Kobe announced this is his last season. Wizard & Hawks games all sold out. I read from Chinese newspaper said the Lakers last game vs Jazz tickets are very expensive now. NBA sure likes it a lot.

  • CJSHYY

JC didn’t clap his hand like other Lakers players. Can’t see where’s Young? LOL!

  • wandertheglobe

LOL…they pump him up so he can go 2/15 FGs. Detroit won the game!

  • wandertheglobe

Nick got frustrated with the BS treatment. Taking it out on Tolliver.

  • wandertheglobe

Wow riffle arm. I haven’t watched any NFL game for a long time. Used to be a big Bucs fan.

  • LinMad

did he work with Lin before?

  • LinMad

he probably just didn’t want to fly to Canada just to play 7 minutes or whatever

  • wandertheglobe

No, Cliff is an emotional person. During games, he’d be yelling/screaming dissing out instructions to his players.

  • LinMad

this shows how strong Lin is mentally. I remember when Lin got DNP-CD last season too by Byron. The entire Lin fanbase got so angry, we tweeted, email, etc. Jeanie Buss and then the next game Byron had to play him a lot.

  • LinMad

i can’t wait for Hornets to play against Lakers. I bet Kobe will sit out.

  • LinMad

the game before against CHI Stacey picked at Lin’s turnovers even though Batum had like 7 TOs. I think he called Lin a turnover machine. I guess he’s trying to be more careful.

  • Rick Johnson

Prices for Lakers @Hornets game really jumped up. Tickets that were $200 jumped up to $500 after Kobe announced his retirement. Ridiculous to watch him chuck.

  • wandertheglobe

Prolly because he had a twitter war with one of Lin’s fans.

  • Steppen03

    What a mouthful!
Gosh… It’s NOT like “we” don’t already knew what Kobe has under his belt. And it’s not like he’s disappearing into the shadows after this season… He will be around… doing something for NBA media. However, the whole thing really doesn’t bother me at all. He’s one of the greats… I don’t have to like him or hate him.

  • Joyful JLin was grocery-shopping in style.

  • John Focker

Maybe it’s the rich Lin fans wanting to see our boy mop the floor with Kobe… LOL

  • Steppen03

    NO. Steph Curry DID IT!
Curry & the Team did it! Players feed off each other but can’t do it without Curry’s leadership and clutchness. If the starters didn’t keep it close the bench would not have a chance to outlast the opponents. You can’t compare the Warriors starters to the Hornets starters – it’s day & night. The efficiency and style is so far off.

  • LinMad

    lol, that looks really fun.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Please explain what this means:-)

  • Steppen03

Fact: The Hornets starters don’t finish games well but its bench can – which is BIG difference to GS Warriors.

  • Steppen03

Wow… That’s really tragic! Hang in there, Nick Young! It’s just the Freaking Lakers under BS!! Just hang in there, man… And I hope you get traded to a much better team real soon.

  • oh sorry 🙂 It means these are the Top 5 teams who score points after a Time-Out, meaning the coach designed good plays to score points.

Hornets #4 is not too bad at all after Spurs, Raptors, GSW ; Clifford is smart enough to design plays.
But they’re surprised with the Wolves being #5

  • LinMad

or maybe some Lakers fans want to reunite/see Lin since there are a lot of Asians in LA

  • Phillycheese

Wolves are super athletic but not a lot of experience, hence good coaching is essential. What do those teams have in common? Multiple threats. Lebron iso is easily defended. Surprised OKC is not up there.

  • Phillycheese

Not enough time in the league to have a voice.

  • Phillycheese

Why start with this? Coach C is treating Lin OK.

  • Phillycheese

    Lin is tougher than that.

  • Phillycheese

Scott should man up, call a spade a spade.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Thanks for the explanation. I sort of understand when I saw it but am surprised with Hornets in #4. Then Wolves (WHAT) one really confused me:-) Still have so much to learn:-)

I prefer Stevens who barely calls time out cause players have to figure out by themselves.

  • Acbc

GSW got another break when Lowrey choked on the FT and1 to tie last minute. Hope Lowrey learns to be more clutch because they’ve choked badly last 2 seasons in playoffs. I kept thinking to myself, Lin wouldn’t have missed that FT for sure to take it to OT. On top of that, Joseph, who was the guy Raptors paid more than double that of Lin, was the guy that lost the ball dribbling up court on very last possession.

  • CJSHYY

Don’t think they can move him bc they tried this summer before….

  • Acbc

Saw a picture of them on the bench and you can just see the IDGAF look in their eyes. Feel so bad for them.

  • Acbc

Crybabies running to their mommies because coach won’t play them. LOL Lin is no p****…cat

  • Yascar

And they would be right in that context. I am an unabashed Lin fan and if that puts me in the bandwagon then #idontcare ? I support Lin and will follow him to whichever team he is on. I make no apologies for that either.

However unlike many here, I do actually hope the Hornets do well even if the coach doesn’t play Jeremy the way we all wish he would. For one, I am sure Jeremy loves to win and hates to lose, and for another, getting to the playoffs will help his value going forward and will be good experience for him. And they will need every single win to make the playoffs since the East is so tough this year.

  • stevesmithisgawd

    Solid game for Kemba

  • Yascar

Still 9 hours before the game bro.

  • cdblue10

Yes he had a solid game but he needs to share the ball and no need for him to play more than 32-34 minutes, this team is deep if properly used.Kemba doesn’t need to carry all the load for scoring,he has teammates that can help him now and besides he’s just an average to above average player not a superstar.

All our speculation and “observation” should be made within the context of the background JLin himself provides for us. Straight from the horse’s mouth. Good Monday morning to you all. I can’t wait until tonight’s game. My kids’ quality time with me totally diminishes during the NBA season.

  • 1mtoldman

    no place like home.

the nba has historically the highest % of home court advantage of any sport. ie. the home team wins most of the time.

tho this seasons home team winning % is slightly below historic numbers, only 2 teams in the league outside the warriors and spurs (in a class by themselves generally) have won with any frequency significant on the road: toronto and minnesota. and both those teams dont win at home.

for toronto, the players are probably happy to just get out of canada and into a country where basketball is known as a sport.

and as for minnesota; well minnesota is sort of america’s version of canada.

when in doubt; assume the home team will win. and you will probably be right (most of the time).

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

You can bet that Kemba does not want to miss a game and give Lin a chance to show what he can do!

  • NONONO

Yes, playing backup PG should be “red line” for Lin.

  • DX

  • Rick Johnson

Wonder which one they are implying will be on a different team? Lin to Bulls rumors? Kemba to NY rumors?

I hope Kamba fine too and obviouly Lin is not in Hornets’ long term plan. Clifford needs to please Kamba to keep his job after all they are winning and above 500 with a good margin. Though I don’t think it a bad thing to Lin, he really needs time to recovery from the damages caused by BS and McHale.

  • Arsenium12 .

If you want to bit of background on home-court advantage, Tom Haberstroh has written a fairly recent article on it (Jan., 2015) :

“In 1976-77, the home team won a startling 68.5 percent of games. In 2002-03, it was 62.8 percent. Over the past four seasons, the home team’s win percentage has fallen steadily from 61.2 to an all-time low of 53.7 right now.

“In two years, home-court advantage has been sliced by nearly a third (28.5 percent), which represents the largest two-year drop in NBA history. From a points perspective, the home team has seen just a 2.2-point advantage this season. We’ve never seen it this small. Last season, it was plus-2.6. The season before that, plus-3.2.

Gotta admit that I’m looking forward to seeing JLin play in Kemba’s place tonight .. BUT, the God whom JLIn trusts also cares for Kemba so I’m praying for Kemba. It cannot be easy for any “star” player to have to deal with the noise and the attention and the scrutiny that JLin’s presence on the team brings.

  • Kemba is actually the most unselfish player compared to Kobe, Harden, Melo.
I like how he would cheer and be the 1st one to pick up Lin when he fell down.

His ISO and dangerous passing style actually suit him to be an SG. He’s definitely a great scorer but his style just kills ball movement. Only his size makes him a PG.

  • NONONO

If Lin played PG and Kemba on SG, they might co-exist well. Clifford knows it. But for whatever reason he does not want to do it. If they could not keep top 8 after 30 games, i am not sure what other choice he would have.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

I agree with the unselfish comparison but he would be too small to be a SG.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

His teammates will realize how much they would love to play with Lin more.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

He’s in doubtful, most likely not playing tonight.

  • Parent of Lots of Kids

Yes, true. If only they would “buy in.” But, the beauty of JLin’s narrative is that he rose despite the obstacles.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

…as seen time and time again.

  • NONONO

The other option for Hornets if Kemba could not play tonight. – move BF1 (replacing #3 with Batum) to start the game.

  • takemeback2reaganyears
  • takemeback2reaganyears

With the news that Kemba might be out tonight, if this were Bryant Scott he would start Robert instead of Lin for sure. Will see what Clifford would do.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Stats showing Lin+Lamb best backup in the league, that means they can be starters in at least 15 teams. JMO.

  • NONONO

Clifford might start Robert for a different reason – keep BF1 intact and but let them play more minutes and close the game.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

That would be the worst decision.

  • NONONO

I know. Clifford hasn’t made many good decisions yet.

  • JJ Hui

Maybe they want to sell more tickets? So Lin fans can fill up the seats?

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I hope KW rests, JLin plays 38 minutes and Roberts plays 10 min.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

    Good timing!

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

    Don’t worry, be happy!

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Coach has the authority to sit him if he doesn’t look ready to go.

  • TTNN

If Kemba is out, I really hope they start both Lin and Lamb.

  • CJSHYY

    Ya! I like the idea.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

My preference: Lin, Batum, MW, Hansbrough, Zeller (backed up by Roberts, Lamb, Hairston, Kam, Hawes)

  • NONONO

good too. Hansbrough looks like nature PnR big man.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Just when I thought I might stop following the Hornets, we have a potentially must see game!

  • blaznazn22

if kemba is sick then he should rest, but honestly the pistons are a good team and im not sure if Lin is good enough to go close to a full game against them. Lin isn’t as good as kemba, and a loss against the pistons would set the team back in the division. Hopefully lin shoots better today, instead of throwing bricks like hes used to. With that said, hope for a speedy recovery to kemba, and hopefully lin does well tonight.

  • sws94

I don’t love the RJ/Lin matchup if Kemba doesn’t go tonight. Lin has to play smart and aggressively against RJ, he is a good defensive player. He also can’t over help on Drummund much, RJ can hit his jumper. He has to be careful of foul trouble. There are a lot of better guards Lin plays better, RJ has in the past been a challenging matchup for Lin from what I can remember of seeing them play against each other.

  • blaznazn22

no, they could coexist well. After kemba does isos and gets the other team in one mindset, lin comes in with the pick and rolls and screws them up. Its a pretty good combination. They also seem to work well together and once lin’s shots start going down again i think this team will actually do really well this season..maybe a top 5 seed in the east. Higher than they ever been before.

  • Dorothy

Batum may play pg, I don’t want to setup myself for disappointment

  • CJSHYY

No matter Lin will start or not Batum always handle the O.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

In preseason Lin wiped the floor with RJ. Show a little faith.

  • Dorothy

My point is Lin does not have the freedom nor support walker has even when walker is not playing

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Dorothy, this may be “as good as it gets.”

  • Batum-Lin chemistry is better than Kemba-Lin at the moment.

If they start, I expect Batum-Lin will be main playmakers and find each other better than Batum-Kemba

  • CJSHYY

I know. But I don’t think Cliff will let Batum be PG since he has more TO problem than Lin.

  • Rick Johnson

If Batum plays PG who will be the SG? Lamb? Then who would be SG for the 2nd team Lin and Roberts at PG? That would be such a messed up lineup.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Do me a favor? If Lin does start tonight, re-post this after the game. Thanks.

  • NONONO

If Lin played PG, he would do better for the team more than just his scores and defense.

  • cdblue10

I hope he start Zeller,Williams,Hansbrough,Batum and Lin

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

You copied my exact post! 🙂

  • Rick Johnson

That would be my wish too but I think too good to be true.

  • sws94

Yes. Lin PG, Batum SG. Lin will basically play the Kemba role. Maybe some of Lin, Roberts Batum at times with Roberts being PG, Lin sliding over to SG and Batum sliding over to SF but it won’t really change how Batum plays more than Lin when Roberts is in. Roberts may play 18-20 minutes depending on the needs of the game. Lin around 30 I’d guess. Batum, close to 40.

  • cdblue10

Was it?I didn’t see it…but this is gonna be PnR and shooting barrage the whole day.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

“My preference: Lin, Batum, MW, Hansbrough, Zeller (backed up by Roberts, Lamb, Hairston, Kam, Hawes)”

  • cdblue10

I know sometimes fan see it better than the coaching staff

  • NONONO

” Lin isn’t as good as kemba”? The truth is Lin might not be as good as Kemba on individual stats, but he is much better on lineups or teams stats than Kemba, That is what PG supposed to be.

  • cdblue10

That’s a pretty good line up

  • sws94

That would be great. Defenses are different in the regular season.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

They could win the East and then face either Warriors or Spurs.

  • I believe that’s also Clifford’s concern.
The small lineup might work in spurts but still not ideal

  • CJSHYY

If you look at stats only of course Kemba looks better than Lin in that area. But Lin is overall the better PG than him. Kemba is more SG than PG.

  • cdblue10

I’m not sure with that but there’s always a possibilty

  • sws94

Lin will be alright if he just uses his short jumper and not try to always get to the rim. Play off of Batum. Batum is used to the 1st unit. I hope Lin gets the ball up fast, don’t let the defense set up. Then pass it off to Batum, cut, move off of the ball and don’t force things. He can’t afford to get in foul trouble, and that includes avoid getting offensive fouls which he is vulnerable to.

It helps Al isn’t in the lineup, he’ll be more active and he’s more used to Cody, Batum and MW, just not PJ as much.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Yeah, JLin steps it up too.

  • NONONO

    英雄所见略同. lol

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

We will probably never know because Kemba will only miss a game or two.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I wish Cliff had a great mind 🙂

  • Acbc

Lol, Lakers bench is always going to be better than starters because of Kobe.

  • kjch

Haha I agree but I’m just thinking.. Any player compared to those 3 would be most unselfish 😉

  • PETE B

Lin should play 40 minutes tonight as PG , combo guard , less corner guard for Lin 2nite

  • I saw glimpses of good progress when Kemba and Lin looked for each other but they need more practice time together. They are always threat to get FTs at end-game situation so Kemba/Batum/Lin should practice together on some plays.

  • NONONO

25 mins pg for Lin might be good enough for Hornets to beat Pistons.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Actually I’m not so sure he’s less selfish than Melo was on the court.

  • JJ Hui

Daniel SG for 2nd team! Lin PG all the way!

  • David Kim

But Lin needs better stats for next contract.

  • cdblue10

Stan will prepare the game again against Lin

  • Interesting you should ask.

Lin actually did well when Kemba rested in the last preseason game vs Pistons with 18pts/5a/5r/1stl in 30 min so he can repeat the same performance

Kemba is a better individual scorer than Lin but Lin is a better playmaker since he’s a pass-first PG

Both can thrive as they get more PT together

  • Dorothy

I know I know, just don’t want to be set up for disappointment again ptsd

  • takemeback2reaganyears

    1000%

  • CJSHYY

Ya! That’s for sure no matter Kemba plays or not.

  • sws94

Team will be watching film of that preseason game. Difference though, Lin’s shot was falling in preseason. I hope some fall tonight. Inside stuff may be taken away and more doubling will happen.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Look, Jeremy did start against the Sixers when Hairston was out. If they don’t start Lin when Kemba is out, then really I give up.

  • NONONO

I am not sure Clifford remembers Lin’s performances on two good games against Hornets last year.

  • NONONO
  • takemeback2reaganyears

They should have beaten the Cavs.

  • Rick Johnson

Wow, above the Cavs. They should have beat the Cavs by leaving JLin in.

  • I hope he hasn’t seen Bonnel’s tweet about Kemba might not play tonight.

  • NONONO

Statistically, they could drop back to #10 on east if they mess up tonight’s game.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

If Cliff had let Lin close those two losing games against the Cavs and Bulls, Hornets would be in sole possession of first place in the East conf.

  • NONONO

it seems every team would play double and hard foul on Lin’ when he dribbles.

  • Rick Johnson

Hopefully they will use Hansbrough more. Need paint presence to counter Drummond

  • NONONO

Yes. many people forgot Kemba missed the game change shots vs two ATL games.

  • TTNN

    who is RJ?

  • sws94

    Reggie Jackson.

  • TTNN

Play Hansbrough and Cody together will kill the space.

  • cdblue10

As long as Clifford will allow him to play PG and not calling his own play at the court side, they will be fine.He needs to play Hansbrough a little longer this time.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

If they won those 2 games as well, Hornets would be ranked 3rd in the entire NBA just behind Warriors and Spurs. Clearly Cliff puts higher priority on keeping Kemba happy than winning.

  • TTNN

    IC. yes, agree with you.

RJ can hit his jumper now? I thought he can’t shoot.

BTW, Drummond is not that great in defense, so Lin should drive more….

  • That would be a smart move.
But Clifford can be very stubborn until it’s too late

I remember Drummond gave respect to what Lin did in that last preseason game.
Pistons wanted to win that game.

  • cdblue10

As long as the bigs will help with PnR,Detroit is on trouble because the floor will open up.Batum and Williams is the big differnce on this game w/ their outside shooting.

  • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin has done it many times in the past, when any player (Melo, Harden, Kobe) standing in his way got sick, he exploded.

    Melo out injured…Linsanity
Harden out bruised thumb….led to beat Dallas, Spurs, Orlando.
Kobe out (undisclosed)……led to beat GS.

    Tonight stay tune.

yosemiteben (Hornets realgm mod) wrote:”Starting a petition to start Frank at PG, who’s in?ETA: If we win this game down MKG, Al, and Kemba, that’ll be something.” Is it a joke?
Do I have hope for Hornets?

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

More than Cody and Al? Hans will PnR with Lin and get tons of rebounds and blocks for second chances. Lamb will take too many shots instead of Lin.

  • sws94

    It’s a joke.

  • sws94

I think he should drive, but do more short stop and pop on shot jumpers over layups unless he finds a clear place to shoot it.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Cliff’s starting lineups always include Hairston which makes zero sense. Every minute Hairston plays is a wasted opportunity; his minutes should be divided between Lamb, Hans and Lin. Clearly, Cliff doesn’t try his best to win every game. Your lineup is on the small side, mine is a little bigger. They are both 10x better than usual .

  • Acbc

There is a questionable logic to how much Kemba plays. It’s downright illogical given that he was injured and is really only starting to find his form. It’s almost as if there’s a desperation behind it. The question is why?

If they love Kemba so much, they’d play him 32-34 min at most to preserve him for the eventual push for playoffs. CHO is a stat guy, he’d know that the bench has the ability to support the team very well with scoring to win most games without Walker playing heavy minutes. It shouldn’t take a genius to know that the more they play KW, the more likely he’ll get injured. So why risk it?

There only 2 possible logical reasons IMO. To push his value up for a trade is a possibility. The team has been vocal about changing its style of play to be a modern PNR spread 4 offence. Walker hasn’t shown any ability to do that and is stuck playing his old standard ISO dribble shoot or penetrate game. Making a push to get more value for KW is one possibility.

The second is less substantial because it has less reasons behind it. If the Hornets are trying to promote KW for the Allstar game, the only gain to the franchise is for recognition or 2017 game in Chralette. The last reason is a bit of a stretch and that is to bolster the Jordan brand.

With Kemba is listed as doubtful (due to illness), would Jeremy Lin start tonight? https://twitter.com/rick_bonnell/status/673901311776202753

If yes, he can definitely handle being a PG to power the Hornets to play teamball with great ball movement.
JLin started in Kemba’s absence and had 18pts/5asts/5reb/1stl in 30 min on 10/24 preseason Win vs Pistons on the road. This was a game when Pistons starters and SVG wanted to win badly at their home-court
    https://twitter.com/JLinPortal/status/673957252345159680

Let’s go, JLin! Let’s continue to shoot at least 8FG & 4 FT attempts.
Relax, be your aggressive self & just play your game on matter what happens

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

The first reason is the wishful thinking of Lin fans IMO. The other 2 reasons may play some role. What I think: Kemba is asking to play heavy minutes so that Lin doesn’t have the opportunity to shine. I also suspect that’s why Hans gets virtually no playtime with Lin. Hans is the new Ed Davis.

  • sws94

Kemba is playing less ISO and more teamball in the beginning of the game, like 1Q. He plays less team ball 2Q with Lin and most of the 2nd half.

I think it’s the 2nd reason. I don’t think they want to trade Kemba. I think they want him on the ASB especially since I think it is going to be in Charlotte. It’s Batum that deserves it however.

Kemba plays too many minutes. May burn out.

  • sws94

Hans isn’t the new Ed Davis because Scott played Davis, just not with LIn usually. When Hans plays it is with Lin usually, Hans just doesn’t play many minutes.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

When Lin was moved to the bench, Ed was moved to the starting lineup. Virtually the only time they played together was that one game against the Celtics when BS wanted to win. Hans almost never plays. Of course if he does play for 2 minutes it will not be as a starter so it will be with Lin. He has also played about 2 minutes in garbage time with 3rd stringers. I bet you that Lin is asking to overlap with Hans and Cliff is dragging his feet despite his promise to Lin to play “lots of PnRs.” Hans could easily get 5-10 minutes away from Hawes, Hairston, or Kam.

  • NONONO

Just from few mins plays, Hans looks like a nature PnR big man when he played with Lin. they should get some chances to try it more.

  • JoeTeam

Last game didn’t lowry try for a layup 3 pts down (contact foul attempt?) Yep you are right.

  • aras

thats funny…i give you that kemba is a better iso player and has better ball handling skills than lin

  • sws94

I have no idea why Hans doesn’t play more. Just that he doesn’t. Don’t think it’s that much linked to Lin however.

  • sws94

That’s good to hear. SVG is going to be out to stop Lin. If Lin’s shot is falling, not worried so much. And not so much the 3, more the mid range and short range 2s. Add a few 3s and pressure Batum puts on defenses, one of those guys will compromise the defense. And Cody/Marv or Frank in with them will get good looks while the defenses focus on Batum and Lin.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

He played Hans to end the half and there was a beautiful PnR. Cliff said after the game that he planned to play Hans some more in the second half but…nah.

Did his curse filled rant when Lin left his man open for a 3 affect his decision? I’ve been watching coaches marginalize Lin for 4 seasons now. I don’t usually believe in conspiracy theories, but Lin never seems to catch a break. For all we know, Lin is calling Cliff out on his promises and Cliff is forced to relent a bit.

  • sws94

OK, I’m not into conspiracy theories much either. Lin didn’t really call Byron out until he lost all respect for him and then just said he had a tough time in his system. Nick is the guy, and Boozer, that called out Scott. Lin leaving his man and Cliff not liking it is normal coach in the moment getting on a player. Cliff yelled at Al way worse than Lin on his missed defensive assignments. Cliff had Lin finish that game and play 27 minutes, Lin had a solid game. Tonight, Lin may need to play over 30 minutes, and hopefully his shots fall, he scores 20 or more points, they win and he has a game 5 like playoff game in the Houston-Portland series 2 seasons ago replacing the starting PG. No Kemba, no problem, Lin steps in and steps up.

  • adele

    Same here

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

You have to distinguish between what is said in front of the cameras and what is said in private. I’m sure Lin had discussions with BS many times. Besides, I heard Lin say in post game pressers about 3 different times that Ed is his guy. But to no avail.

After Cliff yelled at Al, Al yelled back and Cliff made sure to makeup and hold his hand. A lot of people think Al is on the way out. I’m more curious to see how Cliff yells at Batum for 10 TO’s or Kemba for that pathetic performance against Curry. He shouldn’t be such tough guy with the obedient Lin that he totally betrayed with false promises. Besides, despite that mistake it was Lin who won the game for them.
