G10 POR @CHA Game Thread

How will Jeremy Lin bounce back after a bad game in Chicago?
Would he find ways to score even if Zeller is out?

It has become clear that whoever can score will earn playing time

Let’s hope JLin continues to regain his shooting touch (esp. 3pt shooting) back, perform shutdown defense and be the most lethal scorer by repeatedly going to the FT line.

Let’s go, JLin! Be your aggressive self!

Guess JLin's stats in Game 11 vs NYK
    • kjch

      Hairsanity~~~~

    • Chopz

second, yay. First and second 2 days in a row, I’m on a streak. Maybe lin can get on a winning streak of his own.

    • NONONO

I think Lin will have first double double in Hornets with 28 mins with Cliff’s trust and Hornets fans support.

    • TTNN

not sure why that Bull’s game was considered a bad game for Lin though, he did nice defensively, offense maybe did not get all the shots to fall, but he was not given much time to get into rhythm either

    • Chopz

It wasn’t a bad game, it was a great game either, but Mr. 4th quarter needs to play in the 4th quarter for us to find out.

    • JJ Hui

      5th!

    • CJSHYY

It’s not Lin couldn’t play well but it’s Cliff didn’t let him do it. From Lin’s cousin FB show… it’s supposed to be good from now on but ….

I’m glad in the end we ended up w Jeremy in Charlotte. Even then the compensation doesn’t match the talent but that’s not the most important thing. Let’s just get some Wins and good team basketball.

    • Maknusia

      First Mod!

    • Chopz

      you plead the 5th, nice.

    • NONONO

The rotation arrangement was very weird. Then Kaminsky and Hawes got in first. Then let Lin played a lot in 2q, no minute in 3q. From what we saw in the previous 3 games, Cody seems the best to fit Lin’s TEAM balls.

    • JJ Hui

may be 6th? Ok 1st woman here!!! LOL

    • Chopz

of the United States. Congrats Madam President.

    • Chopz

      haha

    • 1mtoldman

however lin has yet to be given 28 minutes in a game this regular season (after leading the hornets in minutes in the pre-season–as well as points, assists and pretty much everything else).

in fact his minutes per game in nov. (ie. this current month) are the lowest since pre-linsanity.

    • CJSHYY
    • JJ Hui

Lol! Good morning my fellow citizens of United States! Lets enjoy the NBA bball at 4:00 pm central time when Jeremy Lin is playing!

    • NONONO

A Comment regarding Kemba’s pace from Realgm/Kemba – That’s been a problem since his UCONN days. His UCONN coach wanted him to learn from Harvard’s Jeremy Lin how to control pacing. Hopefully, now that they’re on the same team, they can help each other.
Here’s the NYTimes article about Kemba’s UCONN assistant coach using Harvard’s Jeremy Lin as a teaching model, and wanting to teach Kemba to learn to have the same pacing control in pick-and-rolls as Harvard’s Lin.

      http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/15/sports/ncaabasketball/coach-uses-lin-as-model-for-teaching-pick-and-roll.html?_r=0

    • NONONO

I real hope Cody is healthy and ready to play. I feel like he is only big man in Hornets Lin can plays PnR with.

    • CJSHYY

Like this… Fisher really dare to do it. LOL!

      https://twitter.com/IanBegley/status/665897584414822400

    • NONONO

Kemba seems only has two plays – 1. Pass to AL 2. keep charging to the rim and looking for foul. Has he ever thought about looking for an open guy when he attacked the rim? NONE!

    • kjch

Nice, I’ve read most Lin articles.. This one I haven’t seen before

    • Promo Sports World

15 points with 3-5 assists in 22 mins….that’s the goal

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Charlotte Hornets’ Chances Better Than Ever
      http://hoopshabit.com/2015/11/11/charlotte-hornets-chances-better-ever/
This article tells us why Clifford starts Hairston and about the new offense and defense of the Hornets. It surely help some of us here to understand how Jeremy would be used in the future.

Although it doesn’t tell us how Jeremy fits into this system, I believe it adds to the versatility by making Hornets more unpredictable in offense and defense. But with Zeller hurt, Lin would suffer most in his PnR offense and may be the reason of playing less minutes if his 3 points stops falling.

    • NONONO

Lin would’t fit with current starters. Hornets best starting lineup would be LIN(PG)/LAMB(SG)/BATUM(SF)/WILLIAMS/(PF)/CODY(C). But it would not happen for one year rental. So, that is why it could be the BEST 2nd units in the league.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

      Lin’s 3s were falling.

    • CJSHYY

If Lin agrees to stay in Hornets he will get this but so far no….

    • sport

They would have to offer an extension as a max contract starter.

    • Rzo Vlade

why would you sign on a trash team

    • Infini

I know we should avoid that forum, but it’s hard to avert you eyes from a self created disaster. It’s funny reading the threads about how the Rockets are imploding and how Lawson just passes the ball to Harden and stands in the corner. The same people saying he would be their savior are now eating crow.

In fact, some long term posters are saying this was basically how Lin was treated and it all goes down to coaching and the type of player Harden is (insisting he needs another ball handler but still playing the same way).

    • Jim

I think they should bring him off the bench
      play with the 2nd unit
LAwson doesnt strike to me as a shooter so I dont know how thatll work out but they need to start Beverley or jet
Lawson and Harden together wont work

    • LAJane

Gee what a great article! So glad it turned up here, so thanks Nonono. Considering what we fans go through wringing our hands about Lin’s marginalization, I’m sure the college guys he played with and against who experienced first hand his talent have been disgusted many a time these last years.

    • wu kong

Headed to the game this evening. Literally sitting behind the bench. Need sign ideas. I’m wearing the jlin foundation shirt. No hornets attire for me

    • wu kong

Shirt and home made sign. But would like to have another sign. Taking ideas help please

    • GoodDayLA

This says lets make the best of a bad situation which could be a lot worse.

Dont see anything in the coment that says all is good now. I expect more of the same

      MR. 4th Quarter, LIN!
      CLUTCH LIN!

    • Michael

      Get a huge Hairsanity sign.

    • Michael

On one side Hairsanity, then flip it over and write “Clifford is bald” which you can use whenever he benches Lin

    • 1mtoldman

“I know a lot of people aren’t happy with our record and where we are,” Scott acknowledged. “But I’m happy with the progress that we’re making, especially at that [defensive] end of the floor. That was the main objective coming into this season, to form an identity on that defensive end…”

the lakers are 25th out of 30 teams in the nba in points allowed per game. apparently this is the “identity” that has been formed. ie. really bad.

    • David Kim

      More mins 4 LIN

    • 1mtoldman

      or: michael is asleep

    • Michael

Then it should have Wash your dishes @lajane:disqus too.

    • heart

A daring sign that may rile up or upset some Hornets fans, but would get notice is NO LIN NO WIN!
A less controversial sign maybe is
      WIN With LIN!

    • JLin Fan from Australia

      @wukong

Since I can’t watch the game at all and won’t be able to find out the result and what’s going until late your early morning, expect you and others do a great job in reporting what’s going on. Go JLin and do your best when you are in game!!!!

    • 1mtoldman

the games charlotte has lost this year are to teams with a combined record of 27-11.

their next 6 games are against teams with a combined record of 13-36.

    • adele

If Clifford is really that smart, why not have Kaminsky or Hansbrough as what Khuang would have wanted

    • adele

Kaminsky and Hansbrough can be good according to Khuang but Clifford is stubborn.

    • Jim

Gasol is way too selfish for Memphis
taking shots away from Conley and everyone

    • Rick Johnson

Scott damage control trying to save his job. Blaming players may be backfiring.

      Have fun tonight!

    • Whitman Lam

But at least Clarkson looks good padding his stats.

    • Rick Johnson

Batum at SG won’t be able to guard that. If there’s any time to use JLin at SG this is it. Don’t know if Clifford see’s it that way though.

    • Rick Johnson

Pelicans seems to need upgrade at PG. Actually NYK too. Anyone see a trade coming?

    • LinMad

Lets go Lin! 28 minutes please

    • blubell
    • 1mtoldman

      hasn’t happened yet this year.

    • Steppen03

And also The Nets, Magic, Celtics, Grizzlies, – they need a better player like Lin to bring them to the playoffs. Anywhere that he’ll command 30+ min.

    • adele

      Praying and always hoping.

    • adele

      Hoping.

    • adele

Batum will be given all the time and freedom tonight (like every night ) Ewing was interviewed and talked about Batum is the key in winning against Portland.

    • Spot

Celtics would be a Dream. It will not happen, though.

    • LinMad

It’s Batum’s night today cause of the Paris attack and he’s playing against his former team. I hope it’s Lin’s day to play more than 21 minutes.

    • LinLinLin

      Way to go wu kong!

    • Spot

Please, tell us Clifford’s reactions when Jeremy plays and what they tell each other off court

    • LinMad

has that happened already? I know cliff yells at Lin for the tiniest things.

    • LinMad

      injured Kemba?

    • Spot

It was a blowout game and everyone was happy. Hopefully this one’s gonna be tougher.

    • Spot

Really? Had problem with a leg last game but nothing serious, they said.

    • Steppen03

      Oh, and the Nuggets,

    • LinMad

i thought he would be injured falling down earlier and twisting his ankle.

    • Spot

      They’re high on Mudiay.

Sounds like a rap song 🙂

    • LinMad

      Our interior defense still sucks

    • Alain Gervais

      Both teams have bad defense

    • JJ Hui

I saw you! You are facing the free throw line!

    • LinLinLin

I find that players with fanciful moves that break the opponents” ankle they themselves hurt their own ankles easily too…case in point Kemba, Irving…glad that Lin does all the bon fanciful stuff to win, not to showboat and stay healthy..

    • Alain Gervais

watching pats and giants. Switching when Lin come in

    • LinMad

ya i dont like fancy players

    • NONONO

@disqus_dVLDET9zJ7:disqus which row you are? hope we can hear or see you from TV

    • Sophie Paris

      How nice Charlotte :p

    • Sophie Paris

This game is winnable. Put Lin in coach!!

    • blubell

      Jeremy is in.

    • LinMad

I wonder if Clifford was told to put Lin in a little earlier

    • Alain Gervais

      Lin 3333333

    • Rick Johnson

      33333!

    • JLin for 333333333333!!!!

    • LinMad

      TY FOR PLAYING LIN!

    • LinMad

all those hornets in the paint can’t stop Lilliard?

    • JJ Hui

She is facing the free throw line behind the bench, blond hair

    • blubell
    • NONONO

Do not blame Batum asked ball from Lin. Lin needs to demand the ball if Cliff let you play your way!

    • GoodDayLA

Imagine if we were cheering for curry

    • Sophie Paris

      Lmao 3333 333333 33333
      3333 3333 all game long.

    • LinMad

Batum is always asking for the ball though. Jeremy can’t even bring the ball up court.

    • blubell

      2222

    • Rick Johnson

2222! Who says he can’t go left?

    • blubell

      Good D

    • heart

Don’t you know that they have game plan for Batum to initiate the offense and most possession goes through Batum? Lin is just following orders. He will try to score whenever he has touches. But Batum will always try to ask for the ball and most of times the ball has to go back to him.

    • blubell

      Haters 😛

    • GoodDayLA

Its up to Lin to force a discusssion of whether he should play more or if kemba is expendable.

Today he is doing a good job.

His performance seems too dependant on his jump shot falling.

      Lickily today it falls

    • LinMad

good thing Batum is out now

    • NONONO

      Very good bb movements!

    • LinMad

      good defense by Lin

    • blubell

      Nice pass Hawes

    • GoodDayLA

The hornets could do this every night if they can put the politics aside

    • Spot

      The Jeremys!!

    • NONONO

      Who is PG now?

    • GoodDayLA

      Lin

    • Jim

dont think clifford lets him play his way
no screen set for him ever
      no plays called for him
hes just bringing the ball up passing it off to a big then they get it to lamb lin just gets out of the way

    • NONONO

i think he could have double double or 20 pts if he got 28mins

    • blubell
    • LinMad

agreed, Lin needs 25 minutes per game. Batum/Kemba can shave off a few minutes for Lin to play more and those 2 would still get over 30 minutes per game.

    • blubell
    • blubell

      Assist!

    • LinMad

      good movement

    • GoodDayLA

      Lin solid so far.

    • blubell

Jeremy defending 5 players again? Lol

    • LinMad

      that is good movement!!!

    • NONONO

      I love Cody!

    • blubell

      Drawing fouls.

    • blubell

      Alley oooooop

    • LinMad

      WHOA!!!

    • NONONO

      WOW

    • blubell

on the money. Finally a beautiful alley oop.

    • GoodDayLA

When lin lob dunk connect on the regular, lin will be good

    • Alain Gervais

      Thats not a foul

    • blubell

      WHere’s the foul?

    • Steppen03

If JL7 Can Starts on the Pelicans team – That’ll made my wish come true. =) !! Davis & Lin.

    • LinMad

      whatever, we got the bucket

    • your son’s voltaire

man, Ed Davis sets some nasty picks

    • NONONO

Lin scores, Lin defends, Lin assists, and only Lin creates entertainment (alley oop) for Hornets so far this year.

    • blubell
    • redking79

that’s why he was great with jeremy lin last year. only that moron Byron Scott couldn’t see it.

    • Alain Gervais

      Thats it for Lin

    • GoodDayLA

Lin has played fine. Wish his layups a little better but very solid floor game and control. This is not Linsanity but I would like to see him do this versus better teams.

Portlad is very bad. Hornets easily could beat Bulls last game but bad coaching

    • your son’s voltaire

      when is the next game?

    • LinMad

i just hope Lin gets to play 15 minutes straight next half. If he’s taken out again like last game…he’s only going to be a 16 minute player this season.

    • Alain Gervais

      11/17

    • blubell
    • GoodDayLA

      No doubt

    • cshot

      Hey! It’s Ed Davis!!!!

    • LinMad

I didn’t recognize Ed Davis lol.

    • Alain Gervais

Lamb gonna get 16 first haif minutes

    • NONONO

ED miss Lin, Lin miss ED.

    • JW

He got number 17. Tribute to Lin?

    • GoJLin!

He sees it therefore he want to stop it, tank commander.

    • Alain Gervais

      Lin 8 minutes

    • GoodDayLA

Lin’s job is to create ten point leads but get no glory. #katolin

    • blubell

      RIP LED

    • cshot

did he play bad…? what the heck is this treatment for?

    • Jim

      another 7-8 2nd half
      8ppg in 16mpg not bad

    • blubell
    • Rick Johnson

And +17 in that short time.

    • LinMad

no, he did not. He gave Lamb some hot buckets.

    • Jim

no if he played bad he would have gotten less mins

    • LinMad

he had 6 minutes before when he was hot in first half…

    • sport

Just started watchg, Lin with only 5 points, gotta get his when he’s back on the floor.

    • Spot

      I love The Jeremys ! <3

    • LinMad

5 points 2 assists in 8 minutes is not bad

    • Rick Johnson

Only thing he could have improved was to keep Lillard out of the paint.

    • GoodDayLA

I thought Lin did very well today. He did all he could and played about as good as he can in limited minutes while not being on fire or getting lucky shots. I mean he played average for Lin but it was a nice performance.

When he performs like this as a baseline against all NbA teams, he will he fine. He is very close but not there yet.

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

back to no defense from both teams

    • sport

Anthony Davis & Lin that would be a dream come true.

    • LinMad

      first unit has no defense…

    • sport

Lamb had 9 minutes earlier with 11 points already.

    • Linzen

Can’t watch the game. How many FGA?

    • Rick Johnson

Didn’t recognize him at first with the Afro.

    • LinMad

ya but that’s cause he’s an SG

    • NONONO

I heard POR big men are bad. They are bad.

    • sws94

Just got in, looks like Hornets are doing well. I see Lin got a lob and 3. Seems he’s playing well tonight. Excellent.

    • Joe what do you know

So I guess another blow out?

    • sport

YES!!! sorry injuries are the only way Lin gets to start or plays more minutes. ;/

    • blubell

So quiet after Jeremy is out.

    • LinMad

      Al Jeff hurt

    • NONONO

they expect 2nd units to clean the mass

    • Jim

      annnnnd hes out

    • sport

Lin threw a lob to Lamb and Hornets tweeted “Super Jeremy Bros” 🙂

    • Joe what do you know

      Batum is zoned in…

    • Rick Johnson

Of course Kemba can’t either but they are held to different standards.

    • your son’s voltaire

Lillard schooling Kemba left and right but nobody cares cause it’s not Lin

    • Chopz

Lin nation knows its always a snoozer when lin is out, yawn.

    • sport

Doesn’t matter, PG or SG, Lin made 2-4 field goals should’ve taken more.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Lin on pace for 16 minutes…But I hear Hairston had to leave the game, so maybe that create an addition few minutes for Lin.

    • LinMad

Lin should sign to Portland and bring the Ed/Lin combo back.

    • sport

NBA says 2-4, Lin made 1 3pointer and 1 2pointer no free throws yet.

    • Chopz

Nice. So i guess now that lins out, its uphill again for the blazers?

    • CJSHYY

      No for Lamb not Lin.

    • Rick Johnson

Kemba and JLin not held to the same standards.

    • NONONO

Trade Lin to pair with ED.

    • Spot

      That’s class

    • CJSHYY

      Portland likes Lin. Haha!

    • Chopz

Dang some ugly bball right now

    • blubell

Yup. JLin not coming back until late 3rd.

    • Rick Johnson

Yes Lamb will fill in for Hairston

    • Spot

It would’ve been the same problem with Lillard controlling the game

    • GoJLin!

It is blow out situation, not going to add any min for Lin

    • your son’s voltaire

we can say that about anybody in the league, even scrubs

    • NONONO

But Lillard would be in Hornets bench.

    • sport

Lin’s minutes are just depressing, seriously thinking about giving up watching these games.

    • blubell

      wow. Batum on fire.

    • LinMad

same hopefully Lin goes to a different team in December

    • sport

Trying to prove a point to his old team.

    • sport

Doubt they would trade him since his contract is so low.

    • CJSHYY

I think first half Lin always got between 6-8 min. So I am OK w 1st half.

    • MoominFloren

I just hope Lin can get 22 min tonight….

    • NONONO

Lin is here to clear the mass if the game goes bad.

    • LinMad

      technical on Kemba for cussing

    • Jim

if hes gonna be a back up
might as well on a contender
he cant get any less mins than right now
      clifford is a fraud

    • sport

Except when you compare to the starters who are getting 16 minutes it’s depressing.

    • Joe what do you know

Batum: “Ok….. The hoop is ISIS headquarter… The ball is the bomb…. Ok I’m all set!!”

    • LinMad

they better give Lin garbage time.

    • sport

Lin really needs to ask Mike D’Antoni whether he’d coach again.

    • Rick Johnson

Funny if all the Hornet’s kissing up to Batum just causes him to get a max contract on another team next year.

    • Jim

      not cool

    • Jim

Nah dantoni cant help him at this point

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Tonight’s game will settle the minute’s argument between the optimist Lin fan who believe it’s early season and Cliff is just resting Lin…against those like myself who truly believe they are sufficient alarm bells to worry about Lin’s minutes.

Let’s hope Cliff plays Lin more minute with this blow out game…I don’t want to hear the “He’s resting Lin because it’s a blow out”….There’s no reason for Lin to rest anymore since he’s not been playing much anyway, so he better get plenty of garbage minutes.

    • Alain Gervais

I don’t like watching the hornets. Bench helping them blow out bad teams. Starters was ok against the blazers. We will continue to lose against the good to great teams.

    • LinMad

true, that’s not an argument anymore. You can’t rest someone who is always resting on the bench while we see other players playing 18+ minutes per half.

    • Chopz

      Preach on reverend

    • Rick Johnson

Perhaps if they could get a pick for next year and they don’t look like they will make the playoffs this year. That would probably be at the Feb trade deadline though not December.

    • Joe what do you know

2nd half Havant started yet. Wait til the game is finished before going negative…

    • Linzen

      Can I up vote more!!!??

    • Alain Gervais

I look at it this way. Keep playing Lamb, He is already signed long term. Lin could leave next year. So can Batum BTW. Keep stifling lin and back to mediocracy

    • Alain Gervais

WE are already at mediocracy BTW

    • CJSHYY

Lamb is in for Hairstone. But w 1st unit, he couldn’t get the ball all his points came from w 2nd unit.

    • blubell

      if you have twitter…retweet?

    • Chopz

Watching Lin sit on the bench is like leaving your ferrari in the garage, what a waste.

    • LinMad

Also, Lamb ain’t hot when Lin ain’t on the floor with him. He didn’t score once when Lin left. The 2 Jeremy’s belong together.

    • blubell

Nothing happened for him after JLin was taken out.

    • Alain Gervais

      The probably deserve to start

    • cshot

      love this ^

    • CJSHYY

Ya! W/O Lin, Lamb just a player running around for nothing. LOL!

    • CJSHYY

That’s true. But I don’t think Cliff likes the idea.

    • LinMad

I guess Batum doesn’t discriminate when he wants to ball hog.

    • Alain Gervais

Lamb does nothing with the starters. This is becoming a habit. Just stand in the corner

    • GoodDayLA

I am very happy at lins play today. Any lin fan not understand why he doesnt play more just doesnt see the off cpurt politics.

      Lin very solid today.

I am not frustarted at his play. We need him to be consistent to embarrass the nba off the bench every game like he did today

    • GoodDayLA

      Stop complaining

    • Lx

It seems batum is playing very well and it looks like hes playing unselfishly? Also Al is on fire.

    • CJSHYY

Right now Batum is their #1 Choice in 1st unit. Al maybe for trade so… they just kept giving Al the ball to shoot.

    • GoodDayLA

You are focused on the wrong things.

    • Alain Gervais

      Just stating facts no opinion

    • Rick Johnson

Why is it that others teams seen to know better than his own teams?

    • LinMad

I would use a ferrari as my everyday car if I had one

    • GoodDayLA

      sure

    • David Kim

Lamb with first unit is like bmw without engine(Lin)

    • GoodDayLA

      Oh please

    • CJSHYY

Bc when Lamb was in for PJ, he just did what PJ usually did… he’s not their score option.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin i getting 16mpg. Stop being confused. 20mpg when on fire

    • CJSHYY

      That’s true.

    • LinMad

So if Lin is actually a 16 minute player this season…I think I’m done with the Hornets. I’ll wait for Lin to be traded and I’ll probably chargeback my leaguepass

    • GoodDayLA

Suport lin. He didnhis part today

    • wu kong

Half time brief update Ok seriously the guys are genuinely rooting for each other. Very attentive to coach huddle. Jlin not playing much but I am hearing people around me comment on his good defense ok back to my free drinks. As they warm up for second half. ??????

    • CJSHYY

Lin’s playing time is pretty fix… 1st half 6-8 min then 2nd half, depends on coach…? smh!

    • wu kong

      Lin’s family is here.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

If Batum does not agree on an extension, the FO would look real bad in their trading for him. They have given up two useful players and specially one big man with promising talents.

    • sws94

Same as Lin. That’s the fault of the 1st units inability to integrate them.

    • Chopz

Can u tell batum to pass the ball to lin?

    • LinMad

      start chanting WE WANT LIN

    • David Kim

      Does Lin look happy?

    • your son’s voltaire

too many free drinks and you may end up going home with a Lin look-a-like

    • JW

surprised w/ the blow out, they didn’t give Kaminsky any PT

    • Rick Johnson

How do they look? Smiling or grim faces like us?

    • NONONO

      Say hi for us.

    • GoodDayLA

      Good observation

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Hairston has been playing with such a low PER that it would hurt him in a long run as an NBA basketball player.

    • sws94

Any interaction with Lin and MJ?

    • Lx

      oh yeah free drinks!

    • GoodDayLA

      Politicsitics

    • wu kong

      Family

    • Rick Johnson

Need an app that notified you when JLin comes in and out so you know when to watch.

    • wu kong

      Yes

    • TTNN

I saw MJ greeting guys off court at the end of the half….. when they walk towards the locker room

    • wu kong

      You here!?

    • Lx

Would be the best app ever… Im constantly having to check in every minute

    • LinMad

      i’ll make one

    • blubell

I might have to do a handstand to look at this pic lol

    • Promo Sports World

Its never fun as a back-up I imagine but the goal is to be recognized as the best back-up in the league….that’s the new normal and Trufully that has been the normal….just look at Mo Williams career you never know when your on a championship team

    • LinMad

u need to learn to hold ur phone properly

    • Chopz

That app wouldn’t work too well cuz you’ll never see lin come in.

    • LinMad

      please chant WE WANT LIN

    • wu kong

      Sorry free drinks!

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Then Lamb would step in as the starter.
Lin would play with Brian Roberts. That’s not exactly something negative for Lin because Lin would be the leader for the 2nd unit. His unselfishness would inspire more team plays. He would get more assists from Brian Roberts and vice versa. Perhaps Troy Daniels may even get more play time too; if they can get TDaniels into shape, that would help help Lin’s game tremendously because his shooting definitely would help court spacing and movements of the ball.

    • Lx

I think the goal is to have a team make you a starter.

    • blubell

      Have fun!

    • LinMad

      LOL

    • Lx

      LOL!!

    • TTNN

Lamb started the second half, PJ was injured

    • Jim

      Lamb playing 30mpg
      lin 16mpg
oh well so much for starting level what a crook

    • spiderman

      game not over yet….
would be interesting if Portland made it a game…
would jeremy be put in to save it?

    • GoJLin!

Since we cannot influence the hornets rotation & arrangements; I agreed with Jlin, do the part which you can control, play hard, contribute to whatever you can do when your number is called. Pray he stay healthy and enjoy when he play! Go Jlin,GO!

    • your son’s voltaire

here is Wu Kong’s picture rotated..

    • LinMad

Jeremy’s family flew to Charlotte to see Lin play 8 minutes today

    • Yascar

I’ve had to save and edit the right way around and still can’t see them lol. Have fun!

    • Lx

he wouldnt look crazy to me for doing that, but I think others will think he is… do it anyways!!!

    • GoodDayLA

      Thats their problem not ours

    • Promo Sports World

Not for everyone only 5 spots per night….getting to play every night is the goal for most

    • wu kong

Team has tackle box of candy they are passing around. Haha.

    • GoodDayLA

Starters lookk good versus bad portland team

    • Alain Gervais

      Its easy up by 20

    • blubell

Can the bench come out and play now?

    • NONONO

some people got frustrated by Lin’s depressing mins and thought Lin’s only chance to get more mins was Walker’s DND. NO! Hornets needs Lin as much as they need Walkers. The Walker’s style is explosive, but hard to avoid injury through 35 mins every game. I hope Cliff to balance Walkers’ minutes and let Lin provide more energy when Walker is on bench.

    • Chopz

      Pretty please?

    • sws94

I’d like to see Lin play more and am unhappy with his minutes but really, so many mentions of this is making the board not so much fun to read.

    • CJSHYY

      I wish but don’t think so…LOL!

    • Yascar

      Yesss thank you.

    • TTNN

Hornets usually looks really good against team who don’t have defense.

    • blubell

      with cherry on top?

    • LinMad

what else can we talk about when Lin isn’t on the floor?

    • Sophie Paris

      Lol

    • heart

You’re still “hope Cliff”… don’t hold your breadth!

    • sws94

Wait till he comes back and hope he plays great. We don’t have to post so much about the same thing.

    • Promo Sports World

Portland rebuild going to take time wow

    • wu kong

Coaches yelling at players on defense

    • wu kong

      Yelled at lamb. Corner!

    • GoJLin!

Wish they have a good family bonding time! God Bless!

    • Promo Sports World

Two Uconn players on the court=no defense

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Well, this is a discussion board about Lin..and right now, Lin’s minute is problematic enough to create debate and discussion…Don’t you think?

    • LinMad

      but thats boring

    • wu kong

Lots of yelling stay on him but don’t foul.

    • wu kong

      Lin coming in

    • blubell

Yes! coming in early. Pad those stats, Jeremy!

    • wu kong

      Constant defense yelling from coach

    • CJSHYY

Maybe will not close the game bc the big lead.

    • Singapore BB Fan

street basketball at the moment….send in the bench, pleaseeeee

    • Alain Gervais

      Starters have played average

    • NONONO

      It is getting sloppy.

    • blubell

      Starters getting too comfy.

    • GoodDayLA

      Thats on u, not lin

    • LinMad

      crowd is asleep lol

    • heart

Batum passed to Lin as bailout shot last seconds. Copied Harden!

    • LinMad

      freaking Batum surprised Lin

    • GoodDayLA

What the heck are u saying?

    • Lx

      Lin should have dodged it.

    • sport

Batum forced Lin to take bail out shot. :/

    • your son’s voltaire

having Lin stand in the corner is just a stupid use of his awesome PG skills

    • Chopz

      U mean harden?

    • cshot

lol batum…. that was a very inconsiderate pass lol

    • wu kong

      I can almost touch him

    • blubell

      LOL. Do it….

    • kauaiblue

      I despise this team…

    • heart

Send him energy and our good wishes!

    • your son’s voltaire

yeah, TO for Batum. some players actually don’t even make the effort to catch the ball if the clock is winding down like that

    • sport

Batum still ignored Lin after that bad possession and went for his own shot.

    • LinMad

alright take Batum and Kemba out already so Lin can be PG.

    • kauaiblue

      How is it?? Woth it?

    • NONONO

If Lin was on POR and paired with ED now, the game could go different way.

    • GoodDayLA

What else is he going to do? Kembas team not lins

    • your son’s voltaire

careful! that may not be the real Jeremy Lin. u had too many drinks!

    • Steppen03

      Looking Great, the Hornets are.
We need More games like this =). If Lin is staying put Then I want the Hornets to grab that 4th Seed.

    • heart

Take and post a picture, please!

    • LinMad

how come crowd seems asleep today? Did first unit put them to sleep?

    • GoodDayLA

Lin lost again on defnese for 3. Smh

    • Lx

:c, the team is very inconsistent.

    • your son’s voltaire

Kemba sucks. but i’m talking about Clifford’s strategy here. it’s no different from Mchale’s

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Lin’s take too many of these contested long 2points…I never liked him taking these shots, even when he’s making them because they are usually low % shots.

I’d rather him be a bit more patient and wait for a better shot or look to attack the basket to score or to drop it to a big man.

    • GoodDayLA

Hes sg. Thats what sg do

    • adele

True. But my guess is that Lin will get the regular 17 min.

    • kauaiblue

I despise how they r using lin… i cant believe that houston and la were better…

    • blubell

      Come on, Cody.

    • NONONO

Lin seems overhelp teammates defense time to time.

    • your son’s voltaire

Lin gives his teammates much better looks too bad Cody can’t make any 3’s

    • LinMad

      did coach just call Jeremy…Jerry?

    • GoodDayLA

      No 16mpg is consistent

    • GoodDayLA

I agree his mpg is low in comparison

    • sport

Batum completely icing out Lin! Selfish!!!

    • GoodDayLA

      Stop blaming ohthers

    • NONONO

      Take walker off!

    • your son’s voltaire

kemba and batum already played too many minutes almost 30 each

    • sport

      But it’s true!

    • LinMad

      its the truth

    • Rick Johnson

JLin isn’t playing his game as SG with Kemba at PG.

    • kauaiblue

      Boring game.

    • LinMad

Lin might get his minutes today but it was on the floor with 2 primary ball handlers Batum and Kemba. I think it’s just a nice way to screw Lin over.

    • GoodDayLA

      Hahah ok

    • sport

Please take Batum and Walker out so Lin can lead the unit!

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Lin’s seems to not be aware when the screen is coming…It’s amazing how he gets screened out hard and cleanly..He needs to look around him to check whether the screener is coming so he can avoid it…He’s so bad at realizing this.

    • Lx

I feel like the situation now is the same as it was in Houston and LA. Lin is the best on the team ,but he is poorly treated and isn’t getting what he deserves.

    • GoodDayLA

      I guess its a shortcoming

    • wu kong

Jlin walking back moving his jaw. Got knocked in jaw

    • cdblue10

Lin is really relegated as a role player standing in the corner waiting for crumbs to fell on him.Not a fun basketball.

    • redking79

teammates need to call out picks. that was a strong but legal pick.

    • GoodDayLA

Unless lin fans do total boycott
      Nobody cares

    • Promo Sports World

It’s a long long season folks….just chill….he is doing what is expected by the hornets….he has to surpass the leagues view of him…he will have stretches of strong games

    • GoodDayLA

      Lin at sg smh darn

    • Pete Roces

zzz…so many Lin haters disguised as Lin fans here, try to bash Lin whenever they can, I can see 2 or 3 now, nice post, Lin haters.

    • redking79

Come on JLin. Why did you rush that?

    • GoodDayLA

      Airball

    • NONONO

I stop thinking Lin not good as SG. No one pass ball to Lin when he is SG!!! The opposing teams know it, that is why Lin is always OPEN when he is SG!

    • your son’s voltaire

Lin getting desperate. just shooting anything he can get his hands on. sigh

    • LinMad

      Maybe Lin is giving up

    • Promo Sports World

      Stop

    • wu kong

Coach just complimented Lin on defense

    • Lx

Lin is strong, he would never do that haha.

    • Lx

      He better!

    • Promo Sports World

The defense is there the jumper is erratic….the solution would be some PnR action but that’s not in the cards it seems

    • your son’s voltaire

      missing everything. this is sad

    • wu kong

Obvious defense is the important aspect

    • sport

Lin shooting cold, worst MJ is watching this game.

    • redking79

Lin’s stroke is just not there. Need to work on that jumper with a real shooting coach.

    • GoodDayLA

I like lin jack up shots

    • LinMad

      Lin is iced out

    • Promo Sports World

      Not consistent….won’t get mins missing

    • Lx

Yeah, im glad hes taking more shots.

    • adele

      That’s Hornets life for Lin.”surrender”

    • your son’s voltaire

haha Lin just takes off. doesn’t even expect the inbound pass to come to him at all

    • GoodDayLA

      He is sg

    • Promo Sports World

Good news he always plays well in my hometown so a bounce back game is on the horizon

    • your son’s voltaire

but the pass did go to him

    • adele

They need the stats for all star voting.

    • redking79

Liked that strong drive. No call??

    • Alain Gervais

Line up sucks. Cliff changes the lineup constantly

    • GoodDayLA

Lin bad second half. Can only gusss why

    • GoodDayLA

      Lin should be pg

    • Lx

Lamb is better on the 2nd unit.

    • GoodDayLA

      Inknow

    • LinMad

      iced

    • sws94

Lin seems to be forcing, not letting the game come to him. He needs to slow down mentally.

    • kauaiblue

      Boring…

    • LinMad

      Lin is discouraged.

    • sport

Coach lied about knowing Lin’s game, where’s the PnR?!

    • Rick Johnson

Took him out in first half when just started heating up and getting rhythm.

    • cdblue10

Then he’ll be subbed out after that sequence, confidence killer

    • NONONO

Use 3rd string PG pair to Lin as SG? What is Cliff thinking?

    • JJ Hui

      Exactly! So Irritating!

    • Acbc

      Thanks you

    • Promo Sports World

    • NONONO

      CLIFF is killing this team!!!

    • blubell

JLIN about to be subbed out for Lamb?

    • GoodDayLA

Cliffrd too many random lineups. He is pretty dense to do this

    • Lx

If blazers comeback ima go crazy.

    • GoodDayLA

      Lin benched

    • Alain Gervais

      Lin done

    • redking79

Can you blame Cliff? Lin missing open shots.

    • Promo Sports World

He is a back-up starters get benched

    • kauaiblue

      Hope they do!

    • NONONO

Do not blame starters. It is coach’s fault to mass up the lineup!!!

    • sport

Lin missing wide open shots ><" This is really ugly and he's playing like this in front of the owner MJ, not good.

    • Alain Gervais

IM done with this Short playing time and schizophrenic Line up. Im done

    • GoodDayLA

Lol wow good first half. 2nd half depression

    • sws94

Lin isn’t a factor out there now. No need to keep him in there.

    • LinMad

Lin is set up to do bad by the coach.

    • GoodDayLA

Jeremy lin got played. But u can only blame jeremy lin for this

    • Promo Sports World

No disagree…..his play the last 4 games has been a roller coaster

    • NONONO

      LET LIN play PG!!!

    • sport

Same here this is too depressing to watch. Every season Lin’s minutes decline and he gets pushed even more out of the league. Just going to check the stats from now one.

    • Rzo Vlade

I am done with this hornets I knew signing with scrub team are worst at least with contender you have a chance at ring………JLIN made a mistake

    • kauaiblue

If hes subbed out, screw this team… he was set up to fail…

    • LinMad

cause he’s not the main ball handler. When he is, he’s hot. He’s played like 1/3 of the game without Batum/Kemba and did well.

    • kauaiblue

      Go blazers!

    • GoodDayLA

Lin is pg playing sg. Smh. He said he could play sg but he was wrong

    • Promo Sports World

For what exactly….he didn’t have a lot deals out there…he has to grind with his minutes…this is the normal for most back-up pg….Jeremy knows this…has to hit his shots

    • Rick Johnson

After being taken out in first when doing well just couldn’t get his head in it the second half. Not doing much for his playing time going forward.

    • JJ Hui

Yeah, CC played the weakness of Lin ! Dumb rotation!

    • sport

Lin plays best when he’s PG yet coaches force him to play SG with selfish teammates. He needs to handle the ball in order to score well.

    • MoominFloren

It’s only 10 games but…..this is what the coach means understand your game??!!

    • CJSHYY

      Of course not.

    • Lx

Coach is a liar liar pants on fire 🙁

    • cdblue10

Thanks for Batum,he carried this team in almost a embarrassing comeback by Portland.

    • kauaiblue

That was a foul on zeller…

    • sws94

He played mostly SG in the pre-season and played great. Lin just didn’t play well in the 2nd half. His shot didn’t fall and he didn’t let the game come to him. Bad 2nd half.

    • sport

Lin can’t play SG standing in the corner iced by teammates. He’s best as PG.

    • Promo Sports World

They don’t believe in his ball handling….would say the system sucks for his game yes

    • kauaiblue

      Ok, im done…

    • LinMad

Lamb, Lin together were hot. Lin with Kemba/Batum does not work cause Lin is not PG. Hey may be SG but he’s too busy defending. Also I don’t like how Lin is iced out from 2nd qtr to the very end of 3rd qtr.

    • sport

Teammates actually gave him screens and set him up at the right places for him to make shots, not anymore. Lin not getting to play PG at all this game.

    • zxcvb

Shots just didn’t fall today. The mistake was not playing him last game when he was heating up.

I like Lin staying aggressive with the jumper no matter what. But when you don’t get 30mpg, it’s impossible to bring it every game. Even Curry goes cold for entire halves.

    • Promo Sports World

Just keep shooting no matter what….talent and hunger is there…ball ain’t going through the net

    • Rick Johnson

What was all the BS Clifford was saying about smaller lineups to give players more minutes to get rhythm?

    • your son’s voltaire

Clifford lied. he said he wanted to preserve the 2nd unit but plays Lamb with the 1st unit most of the time. he could have used Troy Daniels to replace PJ since neither guys really contribute much anyway

    • LinMad

well Lin got another 17 minute game. I think this is how his season will go unless he is traded.

    • LinMad

It’s not that, Lin needs only 22-25 minutes to get hot. When u bench Lin so much from early 2nd qtr to end of 3rd, you can’t expect much to happen.

    • Lx

      Poor Jeremy.

    • Sundown

      Or plays better.

    • your son’s voltaire

poor us! Jeremy has his millions

    • LinMad

plays better = 21 minutes only.

    • sws94

He would have finished this game out had he been effective. He had a really bad 2nd half. No need to complain regarding this game. He wasn’t heating up or anything, he wasn’t a factor and when he did touch the ball, nothing good happened.

    • NONONO

Walker and AL do not do anything here. Put Lin in as PG to create shots – not just for Batum!!!!

    • your son’s voltaire

he played really well before the Chicago game and look what happened the next game. get’s 16 minutes

    • CJSHYY

      Cliff don’t trust Lin.

    • cdblue10

It’s safe to say now that Lin is 9th rotational player on this team,10th if MKG was not injured.Signing a scrub contract will give you a scrub playing time, very frustrating as a fan.

    • cshot

I’m actually liking jeremy in the houston offense back then :/ ahhhhh

    • heart

IMO, Cliff is trying to see if they can win with their projected core players: KW, NB, MW, LAMB, AJ(for now). Basically w/o Lin.

    • sws94

Whatever with the minutes. If he went in there and had a positive impact, that helps the team and impresses the home crowd. This wasn’t his game.

    • Steppen03

      What??
      Lin IS Bigger Than BB!!!
Yeah, he’s set for life too =)

    • Rick Johnson

When JLin gone we’ll just let Charlotte slide back into the basement lottery team they’ve always been.

    • John Focker

Results…Hornets 4-5 whereas it should’ve been 7-2 if no politics.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! That’s what he tried to do from last game. Today just in time to show MJ.

    • your son’s voltaire

Anyone But Lin. ABL. this is Houston all over again

    • LinMad

well i don’t blame Lin. He’s left with a unit that changes every game. He’s always playing with different players. Sometimes its with Lamb. Other times its with Batum/Kemba. sometimes it’s with Brian Roberts. It’s obvious this coach is neglecting the 2nd unit and hoping that Lin picks up all the pieces and does something with his limited minutes. That or he’s just not giving Lin a chance to lead the 2nd unit.

    • GoodDayLA

      Portland may win

    • wu kong

      Jlin back in

    • heart

      Yep.

    • sws94

This is a collapse of the lead. Not impressive showing by the Hornets.

    • sws94

I think Clifford wants to close with Lin and we need to chill out.

    • CJSHYY

      Lin is in.

    • GoodDayLA

Lol at lin in at sg

    • CJSHYY

      Ya! What else?

    • Rick Johnson

They should have taken Walker out and left Lamb in.

    • LinMad

      what the heck?

    • heart

Cliff wants to win this one. He puts Lin in.

    • blubell

Lin probably replacing Lamb for defense.

    • your son’s voltaire

Hornets can’t do anything with Lin on the bench so they have to brink him back in..

    • Steppen03

I’m with you. More layups, PnR, floaters, assists, and … Just the wrong coach in McHale.

    • CJSHYY

No, bc top said so to let Lin close the game.

    • JW

      Lin got Davis fouled out?

    • MoominFloren

      Yep

    • sws94

Lin causes Davis to set illegal screen.

    • John Focker

Clifford keeping Lamb and Lin separate the same way BS kept Lin and Ed Davis separate.

      TTS: Thunder Thief Syndrome.

    • heart

Cliff tried for a while until the lead was shrinking. Lamb was bad on defense.

    • NONONO

Wrong sub!!! Should take Walker out!!!!!! Let Lin play PG!!!

    • LinMad

I guess Lin is playing D

    • your son’s voltaire

Lin is being used as a Defensive Stopper. what the heck? i though the NBA world sees him as a defensive liability??

    • CJSHYY

NO, it’s FO not this…Lin was as SG to replace Lamb.

    • GoodDayLA

      Kato Lin

    • wu kong

Jlin looked pissed when they passed him up for the three

    • JW

Lamb in with the starters is bad since Batum and Al are the 1st and 2nd option. He doesn’t get a chance. Kemba might be 3rd

    • Rick Johnson

Ya should but won’t. Otherwise can’t take credit for win. Just have Lin in for defense to protect lead.

    • LW

Ed’s got new hair. Is he also in with Lin’s hair project?

    • LinMad

Coach should just play Kemba, Batum 48 minutes if it’s going to be like this for Lamb and Lin.

    • wu kong

He praises his defense yells at lamb for errors

    • sws94

      Not true.

    • NONONO

Cliff uses Lin for defense, in stead of offense. WOW

    • heart

Yes, Cliff replaced Lamb w/Lin for defense bc Cliff wants to win this one. He saw danger when the lead was shrinking.

    • Promo Sports World

It’s about defense …. How the times have changed

    • Rick Johnson

Maybe Davis is part of group of friends growing out the hair. LOL

    • John Focker

At least it mitigates the “bad D” crap Houston created.

    • JW

solid defense from Lin w/o foul

    • your son’s voltaire

McCollum is a good offensive player. Lin is just a better defender

    • blubell

      beautiful pass!

    • LinMad

      nice pass by Lin

    • wu kong

      Cheers for that pass

    • zxcvb

Okay, now Clifford is just messing with Lin.

    • John Focker

I’m secretly hoping Clifford would play Kemba 40+ minutes EVERY game…

    • cdblue10

      Cliff is freakin bipolar man

    • your son’s voltaire

Lin sucks in 3 defenders. that’s why he needs the ball in his hands more

    • JW

Lin showing that he should be PG

    • zxcvb

No rhyme or reason to Clifford’s lineup and minutes.

Lin heating up and deserving of more PT? BENCHED. Lin cold and out of rhythm? CLOSE.

    • cdblue10

I’ll take the win even if it’s 1 point

    • Chopz

U fall, u get back up. U never quit, u never surrender. I still got total faith in Lin. He will never listen to those who doubt him, ever! And thats why we all love him. In the grand scheme of things, this is nothing. Look at what paris is going through, thats real devastation, we feel really bad for them. But put it all in perspective, and its just basketball. Lin will shine again. Just like his hair.

    • sws94

This is why you have Lin finish. GREAT pass and court vision and great defense.

    • CJSHYY

Lin close bc that’s what FO promised him. Hot or cold doesn’t matter to Cliff.

    • NONONO

LIN PROVES AGAIN HE IS best OFFENSE creater

    • GoJLin!

Yes, when his shot in not fall in, his ability to play shutdown defense when it matters the most in the 4th quarter will be his calling cards in this Hornets team

    • LinMad

Lin walking straight to Ed Davis

    • your son’s voltaire

Lin just bailed the Horgnats out with his defensive stops. just as they were spiraling out of control

    • David Ly

Late game playmaking ability shown by Lin. Maybe this will further cement his role at the end of games compared to Lamb’s offense. Shows some trust from Clifford for him to close out with him today.

    • your son’s voltaire

blazers should sign Lin. instant turnaround for them

    • zxcvb

I agree. Very odd…but hopeful move.

    • zxcvb

I don’t know what’s going on with Clifford. I feel good about Lin’s shooting even though he didn’t have it tonight (notice how everyone but Batum got cold at the end). Just needs 25-30mpg and everything will “even out.”

    • wu kong

As JLin leaving for locker room hand shake from MJ. With head nod of approval

    • LinMad

that or MJ told him to play Lin longer

    • NONONO

Did Lin go the other side to shake hands with ED?

    • LinMad

      to Lin?

    • Promo Sports World

My take if lamb could play D he would be in…..but since that’s not the case Jeremy benefits….what works we take

    • your son’s voltaire

Batum isn’t much of a facilitator, i mean he’s a good passer but he shouldn’t be used as the primary facilitator

    • wu kong

      Yes. Big hug

    • cshot

      I’m pretty sure he did

    • Promo Sports World

      For the defense I’m guessing

    • CJSHYY

      Who? Lin?

    • Joe what do you know

Wow Batum still have his heavy French accent…

    • zxcvb

Agreed. I just hope Clifford learned his lesson tonight. That’s what makes Lin special. Give him 30mpg and he’ll be an elite offensive player. But even if you cheat him of minutes, he’ll still play great defense.

    • LinMad

i dont care if he does it during 1st unit but not in 2nd unit, leave that to Lin.

    • wu kong

Defense wears your legs out. That is why harden does not do it. Hard to shoot with tired legs

    • JW

did he apologize for getting Davis fouled out of the game?

    • blubell
    • zxcvb

I think he was just off — no problem. Give him 30mpg and everything is fixed. Shooting is streaky for every guard.

Harden started 0-11 last game. Then hit like, 6-10 in the 2nd half.

    • Singapore BB Fan

      *deleted…

    • wu kong

      Yes

    • your son’s voltaire

exactly. and that’s why most guards don’t play defense. Lin is a 2-way player. that’s extremely rare for a Point Guard

    • John Focker

Going to the club wears one’s legs out even worse, but we don’t see Harden quitting that.

    • LinMad

      did he nod/handshake anyone else?

    • CJSHYY

But I saw MJ did that w everyone in half time.

    • NONONO

Again, Lin came in to clear the mess. They should have done it last game to beat Bulls!

    • Promo Sports World

Once the shot gets there and the defense stays as strong as it is…..best back-up pg in the league which means something in this league

    • sws94

That last play was Lin letting the game come to him but at the same time, making the big play by being aggressive. I think he redeemed himself great in that closing stretch. And I also think it shows Cliff wants him to close over Lamb. He offers a chance for much better defense and making big plays like that that Lamb can’t make. It’s not just jump shooting that is needed in the closing minutes.

    • LinMad

Just give Lin consistent minutes without benching him and his shots will go in. Putting him in and then yanking him out then putting him back in is just not a good way to keep someone in their rhythm.

    • John Focker

Clifford learned his lesson? Call me Optimist Prime.

    • zxcvb

He played fine all game today…just missed shots he usually makes. And you have to excuse that for a 20mpg who never knows when he’s coming in or out.

    • JW

I think Clifford would’ve liked the win w/o Lin to shut down the idea that the 2nd unit is better than the 1st. He can’t do that this time w/ Jordan sitting there

    • Promo Sports World

Yup many players in this position have nights like this

    • sws94

He didn’t play all that well in the 2nd half. Took a lot of rushed shots and didn’t really look to be making an impact. The last stretch he was excellent, especially on D.

    • zxcvb

Exactly. There isn’t a guard in the NBA who doesn’t have cold streaks for 4-10 shots at a time. Even Curry and Harden…or should I say especially those guys.

    • your son’s voltaire

i thought the reason Lin signed with this team was because he was searching consistency and fairness. not seeing any of that from the coach yet

    • John Focker

Will check on Lakers blowout loss later today to decompress…

    • Dan Cohen

sorry.. lin won’t even start because of that…unless half of them is injured

    • JW

With that big lead, everyone got sloppy. Lin as SG was trying to get it going again.

    • Alain Gervais

His defense was great. Still Cliff has a lot of his hands. No Line up works well except Lin and Lamb . Lin closing Line up did ok. Starters do ok. But every other Lineup is a mess

    • Chopz

Coach clifford is lucky he put lin back in the game if even for a few minutes. It calmed Lin nation down at least a little bit. Like the incredible hulk bruce banner – you wouldn’t like me when i’m angry.

    • heart

His minutes being jerked around w/constant changes in roles and teammates, what do expect? He’s doing what he’s supposed to do on his end. It’s Cliff that is not keeping his end of the bargain.

    • CJSHYY

Haha! Exactly. FO promised Lin to close the game. If not for MJ & home game. Lin would not back. Hornets probably will loss this one today.

    • zxcvb

Shots look bad when they don’t go in. And Portland was due for a run. This is the NBA, everyone can play. Unless you’re the Sixers.

    • your son’s voltaire

Batum leads the team with 33 points but almost lost the game until Lin checked back in. what’s up

    • JW

his avg of 18 min is pretty consistent isn’t it?

    • your son’s voltaire

for an end of the bench scrub!

    • Promo Sports World

There are no promises in sports unless your a superstar….the consistency is he is a back-up pg

    • CJSHYY

Haha! Cliff doesn’t like Lin but MJ do like Lin. If not for home game & MJ, Lin wouldn’t close the game today w his shots were not in.

    • Promo Sports World

Speak to Frank about that that’s real bench time

    • Joe what do you know

I’m not so sure that shows Cliff wants Lin to close over Lamb. I think the reason Lin got subbed in again is becuase Blazers were pulling very close to Hornets and Cliff needed someone to play all-out D. I think one thing for sure is that Cliff was wowed by Lin’s D after the Wolves game. And it’s not safe to say that Cliff has completely rejected the myth about Lin being a D-liability.

But again, if the Hornets were able to maintain a 10+ point lead, I doubt Cliff would’ve bothered to send Lin back on to the court….

    • GoodDayLA

      I would agree

    • your son’s voltaire

      rookie hazing

    • LinMad

Lin and Lamb both were iced out. Lamb only got 2 points without Lin on the floor with him. Lamb got 11 points in 9 minutes with Lin.

    • Dan Cohen

hahahaha oh zamm.. now you just downgrade hope for all of us lin fans who think lin was speciall to only get that nod from mj..lol

    • CJSHYY

You can’t trust what coach or GM’s promised to you. smh!

    • NONONO

Did i see it right – Lin had two good defense plays and one ast in two mins to stop the Hornets bleeding

    • Chopz

      20/20 vision

    • John Focker

Lamb must prefer to play with Lin. He should buy Hairston some free acupuncture sessions. 🙂

    • Dan Cohen

no..in this game it’s his defense.. he close the game because coach thinks lin is better defender than the rest of the benchies.

    • Promo Sports World

Hairston North Carolina connection is the biggest problem

    • JW

The game went down hill when they had Brian in as PG and Lin as SG thinking the game was over.

    • LinMad

that gap where Lin is sitting on bench from 2nd qtr to the end of 3rd qtr really killed the crowd today. They fell asleep.

    • your son’s voltaire

you can’t have Lambchops without Linquine!!

    • CJSHYY

Haha! I just said exactly what I saw from half time…

    • heart

Why didn’t Lin get to close the previous game? Do you know something we don’t? IMO, Cliff wanted to win tonight bc MJ is by courtside watching. Cliff needs Lin on the floor for good defense bc Lamb was not getting stops. He tried to finish game w/ his projected core players: KW, NB, MW, LAMB, AJ(for now). I hope you’re right that Cliff allows Lin to continue closing future games to keep FO promise.

    • LinMad

agree, I like MJ. I don’t know about Cliff. He seems to be treating Lin like a rag doll.

    • LinMad

ya should have left Lin in as PG and Lamb as SG.

    • LinMad

Tar Heels are being treated well on Hornets

    • JW

I believe Cliff’s talk of consistency is for the starters. Bench minutes are totally different.

    • NONONO
    • LinMad

not just the minutes, the lineup for bench is always changing. There are no main PG on 2nd unit. I think it shows that Cliff has no faith in Lin leading the 2nd unit.

    • John Focker
    • blubell

This is at least the second time I’ve seen this happen… Hopefully this doesn’t happen again!

    • CJSHYY

He & Lin are not on the same page about ISO & team ball. The way Cliff treats Lin just like what he did to Lance. On the other hand, MJ wants to keep Lin so I believe they agreed to let Lin close the game.

    • your son’s voltaire

he was saying how he doesn’t want to break up the 2nd unit cus how well they’ve been playing..

    • JW

Also Lin is not considered the 6th man. He’s 8th or 9th.

    • blubell

      What about Psycho T?

    • NONONO

Right now – Giants has chance to beat unbeaten team NE – final 1 min in FG position and 23-24

    • LinMad

      ya

    • Steppen03

What do you expect? Some shots have to be rushed or there’ll be None – in this very limited role. Be a quick spark plug Or go back to the bench…
But I’m sure he has practiced those.

    • John Focker

Yeah, it’s really odd that Hairston gets to start, and Tyler has to bloody murder someone to get any minutes.

    • JW

They should had him in the Chicago game w/ Cody out.

    • LinMad

ya MJ is sitting on a gold mine. If he can make Lin 6th man, he would get a lot more exciting games.

    • Dan Cohen

      oh 26 -24.. 1.48 sec left..
      hail mary?

    • blubell
    • JW

I think coach really wants to give Kemba the minutes hoping to get him into the all star this year. Not happening so far

    • blubell

We should add Defensanity to the polls from now on…

    • LinMad

if only Lamb and Lin team up and let Cliff know they want full control of 2nd unit. No Batum. No Kemba.

    • blubell
    • JW

I just hope people will not use defense as a con for Lin anymore.

    • LinMad

If only Lamb and Lin team up and let Cliff know they want full control of 2nd unit. No Batum. No Kemba.

    • Chopz

Are u a transformer? Autobots roll.

    • CJSHYY

Batum is their #1 guy now not Kemba. Lin will not stay.

    • John Focker

Oh Clifford knows, which is why Lamb and Lin no longer play together.

    • JW

I think today was cuz hairston got hurt again.

    • NONONO

      one more play. 1:34

    • blubell
    • John Focker

Hairston was not hurt in the Bulls game, same crap happened.

    • JW

they want to make sure he believes that so he resigns w/ them

    • Chopz

He threw him a mental alley oop.

    • LinMad

im hoping its just cause of PJ Hairston injury. But if we start to see Kemba, Lamb, Batum, Al and MW on the first unit, all I can say is wow. Cliff is really neglecting the 2nd unit. Stripping all the good players from the 2nd unit to beef up 1st unit is not a good strategy. It just means playing 1st unit longer, getting more injuries, no 2nd punch if 1st unit fails.

    • CJSHYY

I think they talked & I guess Batum agreed that’s why he has all the green light to do everything on court.

    • JW

Good game for him mostly, but haters will say he didn’t do well today.

    • Chopz

He likes to facilitate his shots.

    • JW

I would think so. I think Lin doesn’t mind Lamb being 1st or 2nd option.

    • LinMad

what did Hornets see in Batum that they don’t see in Lin to be neglecting Lin so much? I mean seriously, Batum ain’t the one putting the franchise on the map. It’s Lin.

And Lin can play well if given the minutes. He can make it more exciting to watch too.

    • wu kong

      Crowd waiting on jlin

    • JW

      you can’t teach height.

    • CJSHYY

They like Lin just check Hornets web that big Lin picture for interview… I guess Lin didn’t say Yes. I don’t think Lin will stay…

    • LinMad

      That Asian meeting right?

    • leeda harun

So clear that cliiford doesnt want second beanch outplays first bench.

    • LinMad

yep, and that’s why they are given all the time they want.

    • wu kong

      Crowd

    • CJSHYY

      Can’t wait for your report.

    • Pete Roces

This will never happen, a backup will not get 30mpg, he can do it under MDA only, no one else.

    • Linzen

Can catch only the last quarter. Very good defense! A nice assist to Al too.
Lin stabilized the team when he came back in for Lamb.

    • LinMad

I really want to see Lin in all star this year just to show Hornets how popular he is. Then if they still play Lin garbage minutes, he should just leave the team.

    • Pete Roces

Hornets will not go anywhere with Batum. Portland will never let go of Batum if he is good enough.

    • NONONO

Say hi to Lin for us.

    • LinMad

Can we all agree that the most exciting part of this game was when Lin and Lamb played well early and did that alley oop

    • LinMad

      is he happy?

    • JW

Gonna be harder now. Lin was huge still in Hou, but wasn’t able to get the votes still. Now in Hornet? Not much chance

    • Linzen

      Done… like a whole 2 hours later… 🙁

    • Chopz

      Tell that to pfv

    • leeda harun

      Haters looking at boxscore only

    • blubell
    • sws94

He needed to come out second half. In the first half, sounded like he didn’t need to bring Kemba back and Lin could have played more than 8 minutes. Lin should play 10-12 minutes in the first quarters, not 6-8 because of establishing rhythm. Lin is a big piece of Charlotte’s game.

    • Alain Gervais

Thats the only Lineup that works. the finishing group is ok and starters are ok

    • Steppen03

How can JL7 stay on this team playing behind Kemba, Batum, Al, Lamb – the 5th option ?? Who am I fooling…? Lin IS a one year rental (if Lin don’t resign as backup) and why should the Hornets showcase their 5th option ?? What’s in it for them ?? Lin, continue to be strong and hope there’s a good team out there that really wants you as their savior.

    • blubell
    • JW

I know. wishful thinking. At the hive’s podcast yesterday was talking about Lin’s TO issue, but Batum has the highest TO on the team. Kemba also higher than Lin.
People just have these preconceived notions and will not change.

    • Alain Gervais

Lin finish game but plays 20 Minutes.

    • leeda harun

dont think the hornets going to help lin to get the 6th man award.

    • I missed the 2nd half.
The boxscore said Hornets went on 7-2 run since JLin checked in with 2:41 left to close the game.
So it looked like he drew 1 offensive foul from Ed Davis & assist to Jefferson.

What was the reason Clifford reinserted JLin back infor Lamb?

    • Chopz

Thats why Lin has us – the truth squad. You can be the leader if you like : )

    • your son’s voltaire

Plumlee whacked his teammate in the face!

    • leeda harun

      for defense.

    • Rick Johnson

      Also guarded McCollum well.

    • sws94

You have to remember he coaches the whole team and Lin is on the 2nd team. There’s some flexibility there. Lin is coming in around the same time as usual and Clifford is trying different lineups depending on matchups. I do not think he’s trying to jerk anyone’s minutes around, he’s not that type of coach. He’s trying to make adjustments to whatever momentum the game has and look at match ups.

    • JW

Wu Kong said she saw coach scolding Lamb about defense when he got switched out for Lin.

    • Rick Johnson

Doesn’t start because they need defense. But at the end of games when they need defense they put Lin in. Ok got it.

    • What a court-vision!
They could have this lethal starting and finishing lineup.

I believe it will eventually happen one way or another

    • ah, very predictable since D is not Lamb’s strong point

    • Linzen

      Asian night…

      🙂

    • your son’s voltaire

u forgot he likes PJ for defense. if PJ wasn’t injured early in this game, Lin may not even sniff 15 minutes

    • Rick Johnson

Will be forgotten, Lamb will still get more minutes than Lin.

    • sws94

Mostly great. Still I think he needs to roam less and stay with 3 point shooters more. That’s my only nitpick on today’s defense. It was strong and Cliff appreciates that.

    • JW

Not gonna getting into that fight. Just gonna get accused of LOF and get ridiculed.

    • lol .. I hope not

    • sws94

I expect him to play like he did in the last stretch. Strong D, make the big plays when he doesn’t have the shot and get good shots for his team mates. He forced shots, that’s not his game.

    • CJSHYY

Asian night to make Lin played 8 min for 1st half. MJ for close game.

    • JW

PJ rarely finished the game though.

    • Alain Gervais

so are we happy just because Lin finished the game. Can you imagine if MKG never got hurt???

    • leeda harun

Overall lin needs to play really good from the first quartr to the end of the quARTER

    • wu kong

Anyone else here for the q&a?

    • JW

I’m sure coach believe he can change that with Lamb.

    • Alain Gervais

      to play 25 minutes??

    • CJSHYY

How is Cliff to Lin? (not to Lin but to you…lol!)

    • blubell

      You’re our representative!

    • spiderman

Lin has that effect… Players also run into each other

    • wu kong

My phone almost dead I’ll report later. But lots of praise for his defense. Yelling at lamb not happy with him

    • Alain Gervais

      20 minutes?

    • your son’s voltaire

good point. but it makes no sense that he even start the games

    • Alain Gervais

      Yet he plays 28 minutes

    • Jim

but he still got more mins and plays called for him
less mins for lin and no plays called for him

    • wu kong

He’s showering. NOT with me ! Haha

    • CJSHYY

Bc PJ was out today. On purpose or not…not sure…LOL!

    • blubell
    • blubell

      He better not be!

    • JW

Lin yelling at Lamb during the game?

    • leeda harun

      no picture?

    • CJSHYY

      Cliff.

    • sws94

That’s why I say we need to chill out. People at games say he’s cheering Lin on most of the time and yelling at Lamb yet so many here say he prefers Lamb. He’s coaching and adjusting to matchup, and we need to realize that.

    • JW

      somebody not being aggressive.

    • heart

Cliff wants this win bc MJ iwas in the house and perhaps Asian night also. He saw the lead was shrinking w/his starters and Lamb, he then inserted Lin for his defense as usual. What I don’t like is that Cliff tried to close out game WITHOUT Lin at first like previous game, but I think he didn’t want to take the chance this time being at home and all. He wants Batum to shine too.

    • 22cents

Wait. Who is not happy with who?
Who is yelling at Lamb? Lin? Clifford?

    • Rick Johnson

My cell phone same way, battery drains quickly in crowded areas, arenas, ball parks, amusement parks. I think phone boosts power due to all the phones competing for signal. I bring a spare battery in those situations.

    • LinMad

      Cliff?

    • blubell

      ummmm. lol.

    • sws94

Me too. But that almost gave that game away. Shows a team that doesn’t keep its foot on the gas.

    • JW

should turn off wifi since it probably searching for wifi signal and draining battery.

    • blubell

Probably more due to taking pics and vids.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Cliff was yelling at Lamb’s poor D.

    • I felt Lin played ok this game. He came out aggressive and the bench played great first half. The whole team played great in fact in the 1st half. Second half Lin’s shot was just not falling however he made a nice play at the end with the behind the back pass to Big Al. Once Lin gets his shot to fall we are in for some fun. We just have to hang in there right now.

I have a new article on J Lin. J Lin season so far with the Hornets.
      http://jhaposts.com/2015/11/16/jeremy-lin-season-so-far-with-the-charlotte-hornets/

Hope you all enjoy and once again thanks for all your support.

    • CJSHYY

      Hornets wants to keep Lin.

    • Rick Johnson

Seems to be a disconnect with marketing. Features guy in rotation who gets only gets 17 minutes. Only Hairston (injured) & Roberts got less.

    • leeda harun

they need to show it now….start with 30 minutes playing time

    • Guest

      For Asian nigjt only?

    • Brent Yen

      Nice! thanks!

    • sws94

May have to think quality over quantity. 25 wouldn’t be terrible but should be minimum. But at this point, I’m just looking at Lin and his decisions and its a mixed bag with mostly pretty good ones.

    • LinMad

At one point the game was 6 point difference in the 4th and Lin came in and saved the day with his defense.

    • CJSHYY

Don’t think so…they will let him close the game but on the other hand, he can’t be too hot so it’ll get more difficult to keep him. Around 20 min.. a little bit more or less.

    • LinMad

Lin is a 9th man now. So sad…

    • No problem Brent :D.

    • LinMad

The only good sign today was that Cliff brought in Lin at the end which I don’t know he would have done if MJ wasn’t there. I believe MJ had some influence in it. But still, Lin only got 20 minutes today. It’s not much compared to what he used to get in preseason or early regular season.

    • CJSHYY

Just wait for her report. She maybe will show some pictures.

    • heart

Not from my observation. Then, he does not fully understand Lin’s game and not utilizing Lin’s talents properly. If he does, he gets more wins w/Lin as PG when he’s on court w/Roberts or Kemba. But Cliff stubbornly stuck w/Walker as pg, then Roberts as pg when he’s on court with one of them. He kept changing Lin’s role to fit others and each time Lin has to adjust to Cliff odd rotations of line-up and ill-timing substitutions.

    • LinMad

I think if PJ wasn’t injured, Lamb would have only got a little more minutes than Lin did today. Maybe 22.

    • Vintage

I felt like Lin had a good game. Shots don’t always fall in on some nights, so let’s not overreact and unfairly scrutinize everything from his training to even his shooting coach. I also wish for Lin to get 30+ minutes, and I think he will at least get more minutes later this season, but it’s going to take some time. The two main things necessary are more chemistry, and Clifford working out whatever he’s trying to figure out in the next couple months. Some here have alluded to some hidden political agenda, which would appeal to a lot of us Lin fans who are used to being skeptical of the motivations of the guys “behind the scenes”. All I can say to that is: who knows? It’s healthy the be skeptical and consider conspiracies, but let’s not let that lead us astray so much that we become too extreme in those beliefs. It would be ironic if the fans of Jeremy Lin ended up adopting the same characteristics of those who hate him: extreme skepticism of those who look/think different from them and, excessive vindictive responses when we see the other side fail. I don’t think it has to be mutually exclusive for Lin to succeed and for others on his team to succeed as well. Let’s not fall prey in those moments of frustration and emotion, and to those who try to fan the flames by distorting things with seductive generalizations based on just a single missed shot, or perceived slights from whatever character in this story.

    • Rick Johnson

      Why would MJ influence him?

    • Brent Yen

because Hairston was out I guess?

    • JW

Unless Lamb is willing to commit to D, he just not good w/ the starters since he’s a scorer. He’s maybe the 4th option.

    • CJSHYY

Lin just kept practicing w what Nash tought him this summer & prepare for next year.

    • LinMad

his unit is a mixed bag. If Lin had 4 teammates he played with all the time and was the main ball handler, he would know what to do.

    • Yascar

      Great post. Thank you.

    • LinMad

      Michael Jordan saving his franchise

    • Nice to see the Trailblazers show some appreciation. Seems like they’re fans of Lin

    • NONONO

      Good says.

    • Rick Johnson

Lamb won’t get as many opportunities to score with first unit.

    • LinMad

I honestly think MJ is trying to save his franchise from the meltdown of Lin fans and that one racist article on Hornets homepage. The very few minutes Lin gets to play needs to be increased to 25. I think it’s going to make the franchise look bad unless they let Lin be the 6th-7th man and do more Asian post game meetings with Lin.

      Lamb and Lin combo works

    • blubell
    • Wow, nice seats you got there Wu. I hope Lin didn’t poke you with his hair, haha. 😀

    • Jim

I dont think MJ is the one doing all of this

    • kauaiblue

      Wu Kong, how was it??

    • NONONO

If Lin was in as PG with Lamb or Batum as SG and Code as center for 4q, it would have been much smooth win. Instead, Cliff let Daniels play PG and Lin as SG for experiment? No one pass bass to Lin when Lin is SG! it was disaster.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

He just wants to win. Now Lamb is the first priority to be developed ahead of Lin. Naturally he signed for 3 years and any improvement of him will help the team’s future. Any improvement from Lin only help Lin’s future. That is easy to say. Clifford will have to face lots of pressure if he doesn’t play Lamb more when the game is not on the line.

Clifford tends to have more than 1 PF on the court sometimes. That’s Marvin Williams and Zeller would play together. Why do I think so? I didn’t watch the game. But when you add up Marvin Williams’ and Zeller’s minutes = 34’26” + 21’17″= 55’43”. It exceeded 48″ by 7’43”.

In other words, during that span Zeller or MW would have to play small forward. In fact the role of SF and PF are so blurring in Charlotte’s lineup that it wouldn’t make much difference. Who’s victimized? Most likely Hairston!

Did the minutes of guards suffer in this game?
Kemba played 36:26, Lamb 27:56, Lin 20:12, Brian Roberts 3:16, totally added up to 87:50. If I assume the minutes of guards to have 96′ per game, then Batum can only get 96′ – 87’50” = 8’10” as SG. Of course, this is nonsense.

So therefore in Clifford’s offense, he may have played 2 SGs or 2 SF offense at times. It appears that Clifford will play 1 center, 1 PF, 1PG, plus either 2SF or 2SG or 1SG +1SF. It’s Batum and Zeller who makes this lineup possible because both can switch position. Zeller may play SF and PF because of his athleticism. Batum make play SG and SF and even sometimes point Forward.

Time of Jefferson + Spencer Hawes added up to almost 48″ take or leave a few seconds. Therefore Hawes did play a full backup of Jefferson as center. Then Clifford mixes up MW and Zeller to eat into the minutes of SF. Batum also eats into minutes of SF and SG. Only Hairston played exclusively as SF. the rest of the minutes of SFs was distributed to Zeller and Batum. Hairston only played 9 to 10 minutes this game. The rest of SF minutes (38 to 29 minutes were given to Zeller or Batum as SF)

    • CJSHYY

      That’s for sure.

    • Yascar

      Agree

    • Jim

but oh well clifford disagrees lol
      really dont like this coach

    • cdblue10

He didn’t have a lot of points today but he helped the team in other ways to win when he checked back in on about more than 3 mins.Hard to get a rhytmn on his minutes, especially on his sub pattern.

    • LinMad

MJ has some sway to save his franchise. If coach plays Lin 5 minutes every game, you think MJ will allow that? There would be a meeting if they heard from social media and other media outlets that Lin isn’t get a fair treatment and that fans are not happy.

Ticket numbers go down. Viewers go down. Chinese money goes down.

    • CJSHYY

He didn’t even take one shot in late 4Q. I think at this point, Lin didn’t care about he score or not… more about to practice his PG skill when he got the chance on court.

    • Linzen

Right. The Super Jeremy Bros should stay as a pair. And, they should both at least get 25 minutes! Then Hornets will surely be in playoff.

    • Alain Gervais

Not that he dont care. Lin is ball smart. He always makes the right play

    • cdblue10

His position when Batum and Kemba is on the court is very odd, there’s a very small amount of chance that he’ll get the ball.

    • Chopz

We pretty much are anywayz. Some poster mentioned i think yesterday, that we like lin and we also like the team if they are treating him fairly. Its a different dynamic in sports cuz we follow the player and not the team, most of us at least. Its like when lin left the rockets and lakers and most of us can’t stand either team now because of the way he was treated. The poster also mentioned that these lin fans n team fans need to meet halfway. So we meet halfway n support the team, but if lin produces, then coach should play him. Team fans need to see this and support out point of view too.

    • blubell
    • Alain Gervais

      Lamb as well

    • NONONO

I feel it was just a mistake where the author did not know it would offend some or many Asians. Anyway, it is good education incident for many people.

    • cdblue10

      Dat too

    • blubell
    • wu kong

Cliff yelling at lamb. Praising Jlin on defense

    • LinMad

mistake or not, it sort of went viral on many news portals

    • CJSHYY

Who’s the boss? MJ. Cliff is not even sure he can keep his job or not for now or next season.

    • blubell
    • Linzen

Lin and Lamb are assigned to be the stand-at-the-corner-stretch-the-floor expert.

    • blubell

Yeah, Lamb’s D is pretty baaaaad.

    • Chopz

Dang, that girl in the front looking at him all googley eyed. Player player.

    • Brent Yen

      ?When

    • CJSHYY

But see when he got the chance what he did? Nash style passing… He is preparing for next season.

    • LinMad

You really think MJ has no influence on Cliff?

If the fans want Lin to play and make noise about it on social media, MJ can be pissed that his franchise is taking a turn because the coach he hired isn’t giving Lin a fair shake. He can hold meetings about it. This is exactly how running a team works. GMs get the last say in everything.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Just fill in for the 5 men position. LOL!

    • sport

If Cliff cared about winning Lin would be starting. PJ Hairston would be benched, Batum would move to PJ’s position back to his old SF position. Lin would be SG and Walker would PG. Lin would share ball handling duties with Walker and lead the 2nd unit as PG.

    • kauaiblue

How was it?? should we still be hopeful?

    • CJSHYY

      On late 4Q?

    • wu kong

      Crowd waiting on Jlin

    • CJSHYY

      Hopeful for what?

    • Rick Johnson

No I’m just thinking he should be trying to win games regardless of whether MJ is there or not. I’m sure MJ could afford League Pass and getting marketing reports, sales figures on jerseys, TV ratings from Asia.

    • kauaiblue

Shucks, did i miss a near comeback? and lin helped to stabilize a win?

    • wu kong

Yes I am the only blond here

    • Alain Gervais

Lets be hones the Lamb and Lin unit is really the only unit that works. The starters are alway in neutral. Datum all of a sudden shooting 90 percent from 3 helps a bit. The finishing Line up is ok i guess. Top teams will kill them though. Cliff has a job on his hand, One unit is really good. The rest has either a neutral effect or a negative one

    • Yascar

Uhmmm did u just accidentally resend this?

    • sws94

      Thank you. Great post.

    • blubell

      and proud of it. LOL

    • wu kong

      Jlin in hat after game

    • kauaiblue

Well, the way i see it is that jlin is not being utilized properly and not even given minutes – the direct opposition of what he was promised… should we still be optimistic that it will improve?

    • cdblue10

I wanna see him back in Hornets uni but if they’ll just give him this kind of role then that’s gonna be frustrating for us a fans

    • JJ Hui

Scary! I think Lin would feel uncomfortable with her like that the whole time!

    • CJSHYY

But the other two just keep looking at their cell? Why?

    • LinMad

Yes, but MJ showing up to this game I think after the game where Lin played only 16 minutes is a statement. Also MJ did shake Lin’s hand after the game and gave him a nod. Maybe we will be seeing Lin with more minutes soon but I’m not sure if it’s going to be 21 minutes or 25 minutes.

I hope MJ saw the crowd today, how excited they were when Lin was in the first half and how bored they were when Lin left and sat on the bench for a very long time. I think 4th qtr, most of the audience just wanted it to end already from boredom but then Lin made some excellent plays at the end to win the game.

    • Rick Johnson

I must admit though I was surprised at how well Jefferson was doing tonight. Not sure it carries over to better defensive teams though.

    • blubell

      tweeting? lol

    • sport

Why would Lin stay when he’s not offered a starting role nor playing PG and only gets 15-18 minutes as bench player?!

    • CJSHYY

I don’t think he will stay. If he wants today’s #1 guy it’s not Batum but Lin…..

    • wu kong

He took it off real quickly for a little girl. Ask him if he cut his hair because it looks different from when he was playing. He said no it was still long just not all high up and she said show me! Haha so he did. Too quick for photo. I’m sure someone got it though. He looked pretty good with it down. Not a bowl cut look anymore at all

    • CJSHYY

      Ya! I think so.. LOL!

    • sport

Lin can’t get into allstar as bench player.

    • blubell

      Awwe, so cute 🙂

    • LinMad

      yes

    • kauaiblue

      cool!

    • blubell

      Never give up!

    • LinMad

MJ shook Lin’s hand and gave him the nod after the game. When that happened to Lamb, Lamb got a lot more minutes.

    • kauaiblue

      you’re right!

    • NONONO

bowl cut was ugly. Mohawk looks great.

    • kauaiblue

      Really? Cool! hope so!

    • wu kong

Yes. He is so good with the kids. They were bring different groups of kids down to sit court side for a quarter. The other players ignored the kids he fist bumped and acknowledged them Made the kids so happy.

    • sport

Lin and Lamb works, gosh I really hate Batum icing on Lin every game.

    • Alain Gervais

some one ask him about his playing time

    • cdblue10

It’s hard to put a player in one corner especially on the right side esp. if that’s for shooting purposes or spacing the floor for Batum and Kemba because the right is oppsite on the shooter site, and besides putting a player in one side makes the team stagnant and easy to trap a ball handler

    • blubell

And that’s why we love him!

    • LinMad

Lin didn’t score well in the 2nd half but he played defense well with his limited minutes and helped win the game.

if Lin was put in the end at the Chicago Bulls game, he would shut down DRose and we would have won the game.

    • wu kong

They did the French national anthem before the game. My sign was on Jumbotron

    • blubell

      Inappropriate for this setting IMO.

    • JJ Hui

Yeah i noticed that too, especially Kemba after Lin played the whole 4th Q the other day!

    • CJSHYY

      Guess not.

    • LinMad

what sign did you hold? Were there only Lin signs at the game? That’s all I saw, I don’t think non Lin fans would show up with fansigns like Lin fans do LOL

    • Alain Gervais

That make no since they just saw a basketball game in which he play 20 minutes. Money wasted i guess.

    • LinMad

      what was his answer?

    • sport

I gave up on the game it was just to depressing. Wish Lin could hit the shots tonight, only 5 points. He still only got 20 bench minutes, sad. :/ Really seems like it’s hopeless for Lin to regain his starter PG role unless Mike D’Antoni gets hired as coach for a team again. So tired of seeing Lin being mistreated with every year being worst.

    • wu kong

My other sign that JLin said was sweet ???? people behind me thought it was great too

    • Yascar

      Love it!!!????

    • LinMad

thats what I heard from wu kong

    • blubell

    • Linzen

That would be nice! Lin & Lamb the future of Hornets!

    • blubell

This game, Clifford’s 3 points offense made 9 by giving 31 tries making only @ 29.0%. Portland is even worse @23.8% by giving 21 tries. Charlotte made 4 more 3Ps by giving 10 more tries.

Charlotte registered 6 more block shots than Portland. Portland out-rebounded Charlotte by 9 which is natural because Charlotte made 7 more shots than Portland for the game. The assist ratio is 29:20 between Charlotte and Portland. The ball movement of Charlotte is better than Portland. In consequence they shot better.
It’s fair to say that this game is won by better shooting and more physicality and ball movements.

The trade of Batum for Noah Vonleh and Gerald Henderson looks good because Batum made 33 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists 2TOs. Noah Vonleh and Gerald Henderson scored 9 points 7 rebounds, 1 assist 4 TOs for the game.

    • cdblue10

I’m glad the Hornets win.I’m still positive that Cliff will find the balance and stability of playing time for Lin,I’m not asking much…24-27mins/game is doable.

    • Mr Chuckles

Don’t let the asian name (“wu kong”) fool you. She is cauc-asian.

    • Steppen03

Lin IS Better here than 2 previous stops. No false narratives, secret hate agendas going around. The ONLY bad is playing time – But that’s Not a knock on CCliff – Lin IS solely backup to Kemba – It’s Not a Lie. I was too optimistic. You were too optimistic. A bench player “cannot” allow to outplay their franchise players – Kemba, Nic, now Lamb (at least, not most games). Simple Truth. No Secret Agendas. I ONLY have Hate for the ROX and Lakers. They were the ones that ruin JL7’s career. Ah, let’s not freaking forget J. Dolan for being the stupidest.

    • Linzen

Nice post! And nice discussion about the minutes.
Base on your break down, one may conclude that 20-22 minutes, like today, will be max for Lin (SAD!).
Wondering what lineup adjustments can be done? The only thing I can think of is to cut down Kemba’s minutes to around 30… what do you guys think?

    • LinMad

I’mma say this cause I saw it. When Lin came back in and played good defense in the 4th and made that awesome pass to Al, in the team huddle it looked like Kemba was really happy for Lin. And like I said many times before, I like that Kemba is starting. i just don’t like that Lin isn’t getting 25+ minutes. If a backup SG (Lamb) can get his minutes, a backup PG should be able to get his too.

I also disagree with having Kemba/Batum on the same floor as Lin. Let Lin run the 2nd unit with Lamb.

    • LW

Closing game with Lin => Win. Hope Cliff sees the correlation by now.

    • blubell

Jeremy would want to the team to make it to the playoffs and get experience. No more going home early.

    • cdblue10

Kemba is not a game changer,28-30mins is good enough…and besides he’s a liability on the Defensive end most of the time.

    • kauaiblue

he better be grateful… jlin, the 2 million man, saved his 48 million dollar butt from another loss…

    • LinMad

cmon, lets not trash Kemba. It’s on the coach.

    • LinMad

ya even so, first half and second half was like day and night. Lin/Lamb really killed it first half. 2nd half Lin didn’t do well in shooting but he did well in the final minutes on defense.

And I blame that on the coach icing Lin on the bench.

    • What a great sign 😀

    • leeda harun

the truth is hornet still a mediocre team. Clifford needs every player to succeed not only his loves one..smh

    • Linzen

Hey I agree your every single word. Unfortunately, he is still playing 35 minutes a game. 🙁
Also… base on Kwok’s break down, Lin plays only about 8 minutes of PG this game.
Really hope coach can trust Lin more sooner.

    • cdblue10

This is an awful combination especially if they’re just only passing to each other

    • kauaiblue

    • NONONO

Question: Could Lin be traded after 12/15? How the contract impact the trade? We know Lin likes Hornets because he was convinced Cliff would give him freedom to play his style. So far we seen so little freedom and so little minutes. I hope one team would come out ask for the trade with starting position and long term contract.

    • Rick Johnson

Hmmm. What hair style is that supposed to evolve into?

    • grover chang

I think 25+ a night for Lin on almost any team gives you a comfortable over 0.500 record.

    • sws94

Was answered already. Said interaction was positive and Lin looked happy.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

      Summary of the game:

First quarter, before Lin and Hawes checked in, Lamb did close to absolutely nothing. After Lin and Hawes checked in with 3 minutes left and a 4 points lead, Lamb, Lin and Batum boosted the lead to 8 points. Second quarter, Charlotte with Jeremy Lin, Jeremy Lamb, Marvin Williams, Cody Zeller, Spencer Hawes expanded the margin to 21 points before Kemba Walker and Jefferson came in for Lin and Hawes. At the end of the Second quarter Charlotte led by as many as 26 points leading the Trailblazers 71:45.

To summarize, during the span of 1Q Lin-Lamb-Batum-Hawes-Zeller 4+points & 2Q LIn-Lamb-MarvinWilliams-Zeller-Hawes 13+points, the Hornets stunk the Trailblazers by 17 points in that eight minutes+ stretch. Lamb and Lin didn’t do much at all after their 1stQ and 2ndQ explosion (last 2:55′ of 1Q and first 5:21′ of the 2Q = 8:16′), they didn’t have to and I thought Clifford then ordered the team to play very slowly, this eight minutes+ explosion was decisive on the outcome of the game.

Then Charlotte went happily killing time through their slow tempo offense.

      Of course
Lin has to do better at slow tempo too but we know Lin plays best in fast tempo. In second
half, the Hornets were just stalling with Kemba-Jefferson-Batum doing most of the damages.

    • TTNN

      no way. Forget about it.

    • cdblue10

If he will get traded I hope it will be the Pelicans.Anderson 6’11″dead shot on 3,Davis PF-dangerous on the painted area and arounf 18ft below,a best recipe for Lin’s skill sets…but I’ll be happy if he stays in Hornets as long as he gets 24-27mins/game

    • DaBoss

Exactly! Thank you for being a voice of reason!

    • NONONO

      good idea!

    • Rick Johnson

Doubtful. Only team I could see in desperate need of a starting PG is the Pelicans if they are still in it by 12/15. But they may be out of contention by then seeing how poorly they are playing. Maybe Chicago if Rose keeps playing poorly and rumors of rift between him and Butler pans out.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

The Hornets would not be that stupid trading away their key piece.

    • MorlockO

he gave batum more than a slap haha

    • LW

Is Wu Kong in the 3rd row on the left?

    • CJSHYY

Really? Where can I see her answer?

    • Rick Johnson

If they are out of contention and want picks to rebuild the following year they would. Especially if JLin is going to walk at the end of the season and they would end up with nothing.

    • NONONO

I hope Hornets plays Pelicans before deadlines. It could be good for both teams.

    • grover chang

Lin has had many reputations in the NBA. I think for now he is considered a good back up pg. Who needs a good back up pg? They would have to be a contender with a starting pg that has a tenuous health record and a back up pg that is not good. The only two teams I could think of who fit that criteria are the Bulls with Rose’s health history and (gulp) the Rockets with Beverly’s injury history as a back up.

    • Linzen

Is Jrue Holiday back by then? (Sorry, I don’t follow them) It may be the same situation all over again.

    • cdblue10

      I totally agree

    • cdblue10

Me too I haven’t seen them play to tell you honestly but Holiday is on injury list most of the times and he’s not getting the job done either whe’s he’s on the court.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

That kind of trade could not establish a win-win situation for both teams. Any team that goes for trade like this has to talk to Lin’s agent first for the sake of their investment involved.

    • CJSHYY

Like I said MJ did that to everyone in half time too.

    • NONONO

I thought Harden would like Lin back and have a good chance to win NBA champion. They just lost to Mavericks today and look bad.

    • blubell
    • NONONO

大胜? i did not see it. Good win for sure.

    • Rick Johnson

Why would they have to talk to Lin’s agent first? He would just be completing the rest of this years contract. If they wan’t to get an extension for next season yes they would need to talk to his agent. This is how the Lakers ended up with Dwight Howard. He was going to opt out of Orlando at the end of the season and so Orlando traded him to the Lakers. But he didn’t resign with the Lakers so they got him for only one year and gave up assets to Orlando for a 1 yr rental.

    • NONONO

      That is NICE.

    • Singapore BB Fan

      ? wukong ??

    • Rick Johnson

That would be a logical purely basketball move by the Rockets but there is too much bad blood I think with the Rockets organization, McHale. We have seen that there is much more at play in the NBA than a pure meritocracy and ego’s, personalities, politics, money have big influence.

    • Dan Cohen

hahaha.. at first when I read the above “It’s been all downhill since this guy checked in…” , I thought hornets wrote that..bcause seems like he didn’t have a good game 2-8 and 2 assists only. Then I realized it’s the trailblazers..

but I thought they were already downhill before he checked in no? so I don’t understand how that is so.
I only saw play by play in the 1st qtr and then see him play in the last 2 minutes…for d.

    • Dan Cohen

      oh I just saw kwokwailai’s summary….

    • Singapore BB Fan

Only blonde hair lady in the crowd….is that wu kong?

    • Rick Johnson

Asik there too. Good rim protector, sets good screens. I cringe at his hands of stone though.

    • MJ is like a TSA Officer =)

    • CJSHYY

He will not be traded. Just hope he can have good stats… smh!

    • cdblue10

I almost forgot abt him, that’s complete a very formidable line up,but of course it should be agreed upon on both sides.

    • Rick Johnson

They are 1-9 now. Lin can’t be traded until 12/15. Don’t know if they will be out of contention by then at that rate. If they are then going to tank they wouldn’t want to bring in Lin mid-season. They would just try to pursue him in FA after the season.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

After that 8+ minutes stretch, the rest of the game was to bore the Trailblazers to death.

    • CJSHYY

Forget about what Cliff said or promised to Lin… like he said that can change within one day.

    • Dan Cohen

      NO NO NO..
yes that is your name too I just realized. so I should say
      NONONO, NO NO NO.

      1) their fans hates him still probably beacuse dragic was replaced by him (which I alwasy think he is better than dragic but dragic got lucky with staff that cater to him). Why do you want to play for fans who hates him.. if he does well, they will say he got lucky and say of course he has to but still blame his minor stuff.. if he does bad, he will be crucified. Do you want to work for someone/company like that? I don’t think so. Houston fans does NOT deserve a championship with lin helping.

      2) Harden doesn’t THINK and want to have lin back. This thought of lin coming back to help them win champiohship is the fantasy thought of certain lin fans, which of these certain fans I don’t understand why these certain lin fans want that after what he went trhough in houston. Doesn’t make sense.

      3) Even if he comes back, you have mchale to deal with. So what makes you think he will play him properly. It doesn’t make sense.

      4) They have lawson and they think lawson is a better player anyways. Notice that harden even say that he and lawson both always need the ball in the hands so they say it will take time to adjust. I don’t remember them saying that bout lin and hoping both will ADAPT..(notice I say BOTH). With harden, HE is will to adapt for lawson. So that also prooves number 2 that harden DOESN’T want tlin to come back as he thinks certain player can do the same.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

And that kind of trade hurt the Lakers until now.

    • kittyhead

But they already have many guards like Holiday, Cole, TD, and TE handles a lot of ball. I dont think they want another one unless they want to trade Holiday or TE, who is injury prone. Not sure Pelicans are playing fast now?

    • grover chang

This is probably carry over from Rockets/Blazers playoffs. Blazer fans would post they were more nervous when Lin checked in games. They were rightfully worried. We all know what happened on the last shot of that series when Lin checked out.

    • your son’s voltaire

      that’s creative

    • cdblue10

They have a lot of PG’s but all of them doesn’t sync w/ their best player skill sets, that’s the reason they’re stinking up right now.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Clifford has been very careful and try to make it inconspicuous as possible. Lin-Lamb is a game changer. When you put them together, it is going to hurt lots of team quickly.

    • TTNN

yeah, I think they remember Lin gave them all kinds of problem in that series.

    • Dan Cohen

and why trade? he will have to learn new system and still play just as little minutes and even for a coach eh doesn’t trust and teammates that he doesn’t trust. It can be even worst. Don’t even think that he will lucky to get some coach who trusts him. HE has a choice this time and he chose this. He seems fine.

You and people here wil never see linsanity again based on what I said last few days ago, unless something happens…so trading him will not guarantee he will play more. He will be a bench player.

    • cdblue10

The trailblazers tweet was twitted after the alley opp play to Lamb

    • TTNN

no, Wu Kong wear the Lin 7 Tshirt

    • Kwok Wai Lai

That 8 minutes could be very lethal. Before the Trailblazers discovered, they were blown off the court and still was wondering what’s causing it.

    • kittyhead

He’s back but to protect his feet, he seems not to play every game. I think TE is near to be back too?

    • cdblue10

Lin ,Lamb, Batum, Cody, and Williams is their best line up..I don’t understand why he won’t go on this formula…now I understand

    • kittyhead

It looks like Lin isnt important for them…
All they care about most is to make Batum happy and develop Lamb.

    • CJSHYY

      What tweet? The one above?

    • cdblue10

      Yep

    • NONONO

i think Lawson played horrible so far. Most of Rockets fans like Lin if you saw Lin visited Rockets last season. I do not like Mchale. But Cliff is giving Lin much fewer mins than mchale did.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

      Don’t let that fool you.
Clifford season Lin for the kill and quickly covers him up.

    • Jim

MJ’s main source of income is not from the hornets
as long as team is winning clifford will be allowed to play Lin 5mins if he wants to

    • Hope

Back to msg. Looking forward to the game. Hoping for another linsanity game.

    • Jim

If hes gonna be a 15mpg back up, might as well be on a contending team
he is still a quality PG some teams can use

    • CJSHYY

They want to keep Batum & he’s #1 guy in the team now for sure. Kemba is not their top choice anymore. If Lin can shoot well Lamb will not be on for that long min.

    • Dan Cohen

man, they came to support him in this game and eh didn’t do that well. that suc.

    • CJSHYY

I hope so but after watched today’s game ….really not sure.

    • Dan Cohen

yes.. that is oodle eye for sure.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

    • Rick Johnson

Well, it was the same type of trade that sent Harden to the Rockets too. Harden wasn’t going to resign with the Thunder for how much they were offering so rather than let him walk at the end of the season they sent him to Houston and got Martin and Lamb in exchange. Some would say Houston did well in that deal (although Lin fans would argue otherwise).

Same with Asik to NOP. Asik then resigned with NOP.

    • cdblue10

If Al is clicking and doing the damage in low post consistently,Hornets will always compete on any team because they can play in and out, they need Lin’s penetration to complete the package.

    • cdblue10

To be successful on that role,he needs to abandone staying on the right corner,he needs to move, mov’ts will get you into a rhytmn

    • sws94

You changed it and your predictions don’t mean anything. I just care that he plays his game and helps the team win big in a good way. If it is in 18 or 22 minutes, people will still be impressed if he played like he did against the Knicks in Charlotte.

    • GoodDayLA

he won’t. Clifford will not bench Kemba again.

    • CJSHYY

      Don’t think Lin looks happy…?! Next Tue… ???

    • GoodDayLA

houston can easily lose next 5 games. I hope it happens. I dislike Morey and Mchale. I dislike Morey 100 times more than Mchale.

    • kauaiblue

Why r they interviewing a bench guy who plays 15 mpg… cant have it both ways charlotte…

    • GoodDayLA

yes they can. and they are.

    • kauaiblue

Yeah, that organization is evil… classless banking on a loser in haren and a dumb coach…

    • CJSHYY

I agree. Don’t think Lin will play the same next Tue.

    • kauaiblue

Lol… ur right, i meant morally… the question is what for?

    • GoodDayLA

Lin was only able to because Kemba was benched putting Lin at PG and faced up against Calderon.

Lin fans seem to have revisionist history.

Lin needs to be the finishing PG as the smallest guy on the floor. When Kemba is the smallest guy, even if Lin plays, it does not allow Lin to show out consistently.

    • CJSHYY

Bc his boss wants to keep him just like when he was w Rox & Lakers.

    • GoodDayLA

i agree . I get upset too. What can we do except stop watching…if we watch we are complicit.

    • CJSHYY

Me too. Harden will do that for them as long as Lawson is still in starting lineup. LOL!

    • Sophie Paris

Haha I like seeing them loosing I confess xD

    • GoodDayLA

I disklike BS less because BS even treat #2 Dangleo like trash. BS is just a strange stubborn coach who only like the ball hog big ego type star.

    • GoodDayLA

it does make me feel cathartic release as well. I really think Morey ruined Lin’s career.

    • GoodDayLA

Harden just want the stats like most NBA players. He will not win at all costs. So he is showing he is top dog even if team has to lose.

It is obvious and there is nothing team can can do except start Patrick Beverly again and be a 2nd rate playoff team.

Right now, they are lotto team.

When Lin was in Houston, Lin needed to do this against Harden. I think Lin tried and that is why Mchale benched Lin. But Lin needed to do it even more and even more ruthlessly.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

I’m not unhappy with this game. In the 4th Qtr,
2:41 92-100 Jeremy Lin enters the game for Jeremy Lamb

JLin gets to finish the game when the game is on the line. Lin is the game closer more than Lamb.
However, I would want Lin-Lamb to work tegether to finish the game. The better they work together, they more explosive they could be. Lamb has some potential that neither Kemba and Batum could trigger. Lin will then be the leader of this 2nd unit which could out play Kemba-Batum. In 2nd Q, LIn-Lamb-Zeller-MW-Hawes is just fantastic.

    • JoeTeam

      V cool.

    • wu kong

That was Jlin and Cody Zeller

    • GoodDayLA

Lin Lamb can only happen with Kemba injury.

      You keep dreaming though.

    • CJSHYY

I think Cliff wanted Lin to pad some stats so he could take him out early since it’s a blowout game …. but since Lin didn’t shoot well & the lead were down to 12 so he had to take Lin out… Close the game, I really think bc MJ not all bc the D. If Cliff really likes Lin’s D so much why he didn’t put Lin back vs Bulls game?

    • Dan Cohen

      lin in for D.

    • Dan Cohen

bc lamb d stinks at this game.. I think cliff yelled at lamb and then told lin to get in.

    • CJSHYY

Why not Bulls game? Lamb D always sucks.

    • Brent Yen

      LOL

    • Rick Johnson

Then they have him on the cover of their program and promote him for Asian Heritage Night. You’d thing with all the people that came to see him they would give him a few more minutes. Wu Kong & Joy Cheng traveled long distances to see him.

    • Michael

      Good morning Lin fans!

    • Michael

Haha forgot that one. Very important.

    • Guest

      Nice shirt and photo!

    • GoodDayLA

young Stanley Johnson is bullying kobe. I remember a 28 year old Kobe use to relish embarrassing rookies. Now just too old to physically dominate them.

    • Michael

He’s basically my ancestor….if you believe in Darwin.

    • CJSHYY

I like this group too. LIn-Lamb-Zeller-MW-Hawes is just fantastic.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin gets paid the 2 million dollars to be the team’s Asian marketing piece. If Lin don’t like it, he can put it in his contract he won’t do this stuff.

    • Rick Johnson

SuperJeremyBros closed out Knicks game together when Walker & Jefferson were stinking it up. Hope we see a replay on Tuesday.

    • GoodDayLA

I am not even sure to blame Lin or blame Clifford.

Lin played excellent 1st half of low 8 minutes. but he played very very good.

2nd half, Lin is backup SG with PG Roberts and Lin looked terrible.

SO is it Lin’s fault? Or Clifford fault for putting Lin in as Backup SG?

I don’t even know. To ask Lin to play insane every night and in any role is almost impossible for any person, maybe not Lebron, but anyone else.

      It’s just frustrating.

    • Michael

      Haha I noticed that too.

    • Michael

      But no pants.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin Lamb Batum Zeller Marvin is better.

    • Michael

100% agree about the luring me to sleep part.

    • GoodDayLA

Yeah but how often is Clifford going to go there? Let’s be realistic.

    • Michael

      The awesomeness…

    • CJSHYY

In 1st Q Lin played SG not PG either? When he w Kemba & Batum together always SG not PG.

    • Rick Johnson

Probably depends on how often Walker & Jefferson sink it up. Against weak defensive teams like Portland they look good. Against even average defensive teams like the Knicks not so much.

    • Michael

More than half of that word is asian.

    • GoodDayLA

he played SG for like 1 minute 1st half. He did his damage as PG.

    • Rick Johnson

He was shooting guard last few minutes of 1st qtr. Then Walker went out and Lin was PG. That’s when they really opened up the lead.

    • GoodDayLA

Bemba looked fine against Bulls and Spurs.

He won’t be sitting too often. He’s one of Jordan’s chosen starts given his special shoe deal.

    • Alain Gervais

Lin gets his job taken from any random bum. BEv/Douglas to close game in Houston/Harden/Clarkson/Price and now……Lamb

    • GoodDayLA

Lin is a PG. Lamb is a SG. Seriously?

    • Michael

The Portland D was completely rekt by one player.

    • Alain Gervais

Lin is a combo guard and a supposed 6th man. Lamb is now the 6th man.Its undeniable

    • CJSHYY

I think his message is very clear I want to be a PG not SG. But Cliff always treated him like another Lance. Just stand in 3P waiting for ball to come & shoot the ball.

    • GoodDayLA

that’s Lin fault for signing with Hornets then. He knew what he signed up for. At the press conference, Clffrd said he would play with Kemba and stuff.

      Lin didn’t think otherwise.

Now standing in corner and hide? I’m not sure.

But that’s what Lin does a lot when not PG with ball.

    • CJSHYY

I know that’s what I said… in 1Q Lin always as SG. But I don’t get why in 4Q he can’t be PG again?

    • Michael

My favorite is the Brooklyn Nets bowling alley when he was with the Knicks, when he sliced to the basket and left a line of bodies behind.

    • GoodDayLA

      Lin is a PG.

    • sport

Only if Lin’s PG if Batum’s handling the ball then no it’s not cause he never passes to Lin.

    • GoodDayLA

      PJ got hurt today.

    • Alain Gervais

No he is not. Fact are facts he is a combo guard played SG most of todays game

    • Michael

Will since he is a pro should there be a Pro-fanity? (time for a down vote).

    • CJSHYY

I really think Lin is too naive to believe what coach or GM promised him. Like Cliff said thing can change within one day. They maybe not really tried to lie to him or whatever… but I believe thing changes now.

    • CJSHYY

Oh! So Lin needed to fill for Lamb.

    • Michael

      Cool name.

    • Rick Johnson

Looking at this game flow can see that Lin never played PG in the second half. First was SG with Walker, then Roberts, then Walker again. In first half when he was PG it started a 23-5 run.

      http://popcornmachine.net/gf?date=20151115&game=PORCHA

    • GoodDayLA

totally. it’s upsetting to see. what are you gonna do.

    • Acbc

So we’re apes…but you still do you’re best work while laying down. Lol

    • kauaiblue

I was also going to go to charlotte to see a game but not anymore… glad i never went to houston like i had planned… stupid teams… their towns woild get so much business from just fans from asia… smh

    • Rick Johnson

I think because Hairston was out they moved Lamb to replace him with the starters. Then put Roberts in to fill in for Lamb in 2nd unit. But when Roberts comes in it moves Lin to SG as he plays PG. I wish they would have left Lin at PG and brought Daniels in at SG. Or have Daniels play SG with starters.

    • Rick Johnson

Darn surprised Lakers could beat Detroit. Guess Detroit must be tired out from playing Clippers yesterday.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! That’s what I thought “they would have left Lin at PG and brought Daniels in at SG.” But I guess Cliff don’t really trust Daniels or don’t want Lin to be PG? Cliff just not on the same page w Lin. Look at Lin, w so less ball in late 4Q, he still tried to do the Nash like pass to Al…. that said it all. Really don’t think he & Cliff are good fit to each other.

    • GoodDayLA

larry nance is playing more. he is a glue guy. I assume front office forced this on BS.

    • GoodDayLA

and that’s why he looks like crap. He is a PG playing SG.

    • occupatio
    • Alain Gervais

He is not a Pg he looked bad because of weird minutes and bad personnel. He is a preferred PG but he can play SG

    • heart

You just picked up that fact now? I saw that during game. Lin’s minutes and roles have been jerked around since the start of the season. Yet, Lin is able to continue to contribute somehow w/defense, steal, rebound, fast breaks, etc. I think if this trend continues, Lin knows he has been had by Hornets/Cliff/Cho. He didn’t look happy at all in his post-game interview.

    • Alain Gervais

      Idc anymore

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Really surprised. Maybe just show respect for Kobe’s last year so let them won this one. LOL!

    • Acbc

      Lol, good one!

    • CJSHYY

Ya! That’s exactly how I feel about his post game interview. No smile for the won at all. I don’t think he’s happy. smh! He & Cliff just not get along well. LONG season. I am not sure he will play well next Tue to MSG. Bc if Lin continues to shoot bad on Tue, I doubt he will close the game. It’s road game not home game w MJ.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

It’s the Hornets intention to uncover the potential of their add-ons during the off season. First priority goes to Batum who could sign with anyone next season. This game shows some success. The next one in line is clearly Lamb right now but he doesn’t seem to work well with Batum and Walker. For one reason, he’s not the go to buy in the first team. It has to be Batum and Walker.

In the 2nd team, Lin-Lamb-Zeller-MW-Hawes is right on their way. They’re playing with synergy that more than anyone else than the first team. As long as they become more productive in future games, Clifford has to give more minutes to Lin.

Also Lin’s defense is helping him to close game rather than Lamb who by the way is too tall to guard smaller and faster guards. Lin has the experience of dueling with Isaiah Thomas which has benefited him tremendously. In fact Lin always comes out bullying smaller guards like Aaron Brooks, IT etc that Walker couldn’t.

As Clifford knows more about his lineup, he is such a practical coach on his contract year that he would no doubt put Jeremy in to close games rathan than inserting Lamb to be roasted. At the end, I’m all good about Lin’s position in Hornets. He has reasons to push his game to the next level after his off season improvement again. By the end of this season, Lin will be a really complete player to secure a long termed contract for desperate teams like the 76ers, Nets and Pelicans. Lin can make them a contender then.

I want Lin to sign a long term contract instead of jumping around the league with contracts like what he’s having. If Lou Williams can get a contract of $21M for 3 years, I see no reason that Jeremy couldn’t get more than that. For teams that’s plagued with injured players, Lin is absolutely a blessing to them next season. Not trying to be greedy, Lin can easily get Pelicans to a playoff berth or even a contender position in the league. With some luck, he could even get a championship before the end of his career. I’m sure Alvin Gentry is looking around the league for guards like Jeremy Lin who could help him out in Pelicans. He has the roll man but not the guards who could do half the job. Lin as a combo guard will worth a lot to teams like Pelicans and 76ers.

    • John Focker

The Dragon Ball series borrowed some character elements from the story, but otherwise has NOTHING to do with Journey to the West.

    • heart

Yep, he usually is happy w/the win. You can tell he didn’t smile or seemed happy. He didn’t give Hornets/Cho/Cliff the ‘discount’ for this kind of treatment.

    • CJSHYY

Well, I am sure he’s not happy but since both Cliff & Lin are all very stubborn on their own idea so this is going to be a very LONG LONG season. I thought everything is OK when I watched vs NYK game…. smh!

    • MoominFloren

Let me guess…..Batum has a high BB IQ, a fantastic player….. Lamb shooted well tonight…….starters played terrific…..I would keep this line up for 40 games…..and nothing on Lin for sure

    • John Focker

That’s right, talk is cheap. Let PT minutes do the talking.

    • John Focker

Dislike is such a wimpy word. Charmin! LOL

    • John Focker

I LOVE seeing them in blowout losses…to bottom-feeding teams.

    • heart

      Don’t hold your breadth, we’ll see…

    • sws94

He said Lin’s defense at the end was good. And anyone saying Batum isn’t what Coach is saying he is in the past few games is in serious denial. He is doing exactly what Coach wants him to do. Most of the talk was on Al who had a big game and him getting the ball down low and making passes too when needed. I don’t think he said anything about Lamb and the poster here who was at the game said he was yelling at Lamb for his defense while complementing Lin for his.

    • sws94

This again. Lin’s didn’t exactly have 2 strong games. But Cliff should increase his first half PT.

    • heart

You should be able to tell once Cliff started PJ. Once a promise is not kept, trust is not automatic anymore.

    • Steppen03

FOUR TEAMS TO BE AVOIDED AT ALL COST: Rockets, Knicks, Lakers, Mavs. I don’t understand why Lin even have the notion to return to NY After Everything that has happened: MDA -Axed. Linsanity – Axed. Who saved their season ? And this is what he got: go shop around ??
LA Does Need Help: the other team – The Clippers.

    • heart

      Isn’t this minutes/role yo-yoing like Lakers?

    • GoodDayLA

      no sir I cannot agree.

    • sws94

That makes zero sense. I’ll be at that game and there’s not one reason why Lin wouldn’t play. Plus he was the biggest impact player the last time they played.

    • MoominFloren

Coach: Lin, I know your game well……

And then let’s check what we see so far:
      – Lin as SG standing at the corner
      – Give Lin the terrible Hawes
      – Start Hairston
      – No Tyler
      – No PnR at ALL
      – Allow starters icing Lin out
      – Give only 8 min no matter how well is Lin
      – Do completely opposite to the preseason games

And because of the preseason, I bought the LP watching Lin 20 min per game!

    • GoodDayLA

i did not buy LP because you cannot trust preseason.

    • MoominFloren

      Thanks for the summary
I just don’t want to watch him blablabla

    • sws94

Really, the biggest issue Clifford talked about was rebounding.

    • blubell
    • MoominFloren

NO more LP for me anymore

    • blubell
    • John Focker

I wasted my money on first year with Rox, not making that mistake again until I see Lin treated fairly on a consistent basis.

    • james brown

Catering to a player will make him a better player..we all know that, maybe except if his talent is really not there. Batum is a good player but because he has given FREEDOM on every plays thats he was in, he surely get his points and his stats. we can agree on that, but honestly, when the game is on the line like what had happened during NYK games where Batum folded heavily during crunch time and lamb could’nt find his shooting, JLIN knew that’s was his time and grab it because Batum doesn’t know what to do and Lamb becomes shy with ball. IMPACT player love this type of scenario and thrive on it. We are not denying that Batum can contribute, but JLIN is Being DENIED the opportunity even the eye test and stats test had shown that JLIN is an IMPACT player that hornets needs!

    • sws94

Lin is a more will his game impact player. I think he’s more a winning player than Batum. But, Lin is not taking advantage of his opportunities as much as Batum is. Batum, yes, has opportunities but he’s also doing his role more consistently than Lin is doing his. Lin has both SG and PG roles and he needs to impose his will on the game more when he runs the team. Lin hasn’t been good enough in some ways. Cliff hasn’t played him enough. Both Cliff and Lin play a role in his playing not as much as we’d like to see him.

    • CJSHYY

PJ is not the problem. He can be replaced anytime. I hope Lin can just play his best & show us what he can do… no matter how much he dislike the coach or whatever…. get good stats then out.

    • CJSHYY

      This product is good. LOL!

    • sws94

Lin is not really being used as an SG. He’s more an off-ball facilitator/penetrator/scorer. Yes, if he has an open catch and shoot situation he will shoot it, and he’ll take some mid-ranges, but he’s looked at as a guy who can get his team mates the ball.

Cliff trusted Lin at the end of the game and what happens? He fouls Ed out, he prevents McCullem from scoring on 2 possessions, he drives to the basket and makes a highlight assist getting to the basket.

I’m not thinking the Coach is that enamored with Lamb. He likes him, but I think he knows Lin can be the guy to be the man some nights and other nights it’ll be Batum making it happen. Sometimes both. Lamb can score if he is directed by Lin is in their to DIRECT things too. If you look at Lin, he doesn’t always play like a director. He needs to remember he is one. And NOBODY is holding him back either. He’s choosing to because you’ll see him take charge at times. When he does, he has to make mostly good plays and decisions. That’s all.

    • james brown

look at the plays designed for player during Jlins time on court..most of it catered to Batum and Lamb. Its a design that coaching staff throws at the PG to play and not his own agenda..Getting opportunity for a short period of play with no designed play and depend ONLY on your own talent will give you inconsistent performance as a normal result.

    • sws94

Also, I like Lamb. And I really don’t put him in the same category as Beverley or Ronnie Price. Lamb has good skills and can score but you know what? With Lin, Lamb is a better player than with anyone else on the court. Including Batum.

    • james brown

JLIN was asked to play off the ball beacuse of its design game plan..MOVING the Ball among other players…We can see he goes to his bread and butter of play by going to the basket when he sees that no one among the 4 player inside the floor is able to make good plays. Its in trickle right now with the hornets because Ciff is focused on the offensive plays of the team and its not really helping with the free flow of the game because he designate who to shoot and hold the ball more!

    • sws94

you know, I’ve seen plays designed for Lin. And I’ve seen Lin get the ball and give it to Kemba or Batum where Lamb or others, even Hawes, either wave or look them off and then decide where to go with the ball. Sometimes you have to take opportunities. There is a world of difference in how Lin played the last 2 games verses the 2 before that. And in the Kincks game especially why did Batum become the secondary facilitator vs. Lin? Because Lin exerted his authority and said, I’m the man in this game. That’s how you do it in the NBA,. You don’t drone on about opportunity, you seize it when you are on the floor.

    • heart

It’s now about PJ, himself. It’s about Cliff placing PJ in the starting lineup. But I understand what you mean…

    • John Focker

And remind me who he was on the court with? smh (hint: not Lamb)

    • sws94

Lin has opportunity. He threw that pass to Lamb because he seized the opportunity. Lin has weaknesses. We have to acknowledge some. Sometimes he doesn’t show direction that Kemba or others show, so why why should any coach always trust him? They trust him when he looks authoritative? When he looks like he wants to defer, to me, HE sets that tone. We have to stop blaming every system and admit some patterns with Lin. And he, now, at 27, needs to just exert his authority. He HAS the opportunities and trust of this coach. Tonight was a perfect example and his closing minutes were perfect. He was the best guy on the floor in the closing minutes.

    • CJSHYY

Well said. I think Lin gave up his chance for insist his team ball game plan. Lin can & should be #1 guy in the team but not anymore…. I think part of the reason bc unlike Batum, Lin doesn’t want to stay… at least not now. I really think PJ or Lamb is not the real problem for Lin. Hornets still wants Lin so he will be OK even his stats or playing time not.

    • John Focker

Right, because Clifford usually rewards Lin after two strong games… /S

    • sws94

How did Lin look against Chicago? Why reward a player if he had good games if he doesn’t look the same in the next game? What coach isn’t trying to win the game? Lin is not a starter or that familiar with Clifford as Kemba is. Clifford is making some judgments I think are wrong. So is Lin when he’s playing.

    • sws94

He doesn’t have to be number one. But he should be some nights and more nights. And he should be an impact player more often than not. So far, it’s when he is, he really is. When he isn’t, he really isn’t very effective on the court. He needs to just keep trying to string more great games together. That really hasn’t happened yet.

    • LinMad

I want to see Lin play with Lamb more and not with Batum/Kemba. When there are too many guys on the floor that demand the ball, Lin looks like he’s getting his ball stolen/stripped by his own teammates.

I mean, what’s the reason of putting Lin the second unit if it’s not going to help him get away from players who demand the ball 100% like Batum.

    • Jim

      mpg..tells it all
lets not pretend clifford values Lin more
cuz then hed play Lin more and call more plays for him

    • John Focker

I’m talking about the Minny and NYK games, obviously.

    • sws94

Disagree. There is no SG to take over Lamb’s minutes that can be more effective when he doesn’t play well. Lin has a heavy minute player he backs up. Everyone that has seen Lin and Lamb on the court with Clifford say that he’s constantly on Lamb. And who did Cliff trust at the end? Lamb or Lin? I’m proud of Lin for being ready and playing great and making a difference. Bu Lin’s second stint offensively was poor where Lamb never played as poorly offensively, But Lamb did not play as well defensively or offensively as Lin or have as big an impact than Lin did in the last stint whee he closed the game.

    • cdblue10

I think he does ,he can’t just play a2mil player over players that making 48 mil ,he played him on 4th with Minnie and NYK games, that’s absolutely a trust for me.

    • LinMad

his opportunity is 16-21 minutes with other ball dominant players unlike other players who have the green light to play their way and 35+ minutes.

    • CJSHYY

I am not sure Lin will have the chance to be an impact player for the game or not… bc Cliff now use Lamb to replace Lin’s score section & cut Lin’s playing time less & less bc I don’t think he trust Lin or likes him. This is not good for Lin & Cliff both but… smh!

    • sws94

It’s not about money. And yes, Lamb has a future with the team where Lin is uncertain. But Batum is also uncertain. It’s about who can give what’s needed and the different positions. Lamb is a complementary player to Lin and plays best with him. They aren’t playing the same positions, even when Lin is the other guard he isn’t the same type of player as Lin. Lin is much more a creator.

    • LinMad

Lin did not look happy during post game interview again. 2 times. I wonder how long this will be.

    • CJSHYY

Right now Batum is their #1 guy so he will shoot more for sure. When Kemba on court w Lin, he’s PG so Lin can’t get the ball as well. Only w 2nd unit he can be PG. That’s the way it is.

    • sws94

You and the whole board are way too stuck on minutes, minutes, minutes and you all sound like a broken record. Lin dominated and kicked butt in the Knick game in 21 minutes and by far had the biggest impact on the court. He has to play better when he’s on the court and he comes on the court in tandem with Hawes so he either holds the lead or not. I think Clifford goes to Kemba too early in the first half but with the minutes Lin gets, he can produce. He’s going to get what he’s going to get and he has enough to produce.

    • LinMad

And Lin was good with 2nd unit. Pretty much everyone was good in 2nd unit until Cliff started to creep other players in from the first unit into the 2nd unit. This is what I call neglecting the 2nd unit. Cliff broke down the 2nd unit’s success. We were up by 21 points thanks to the 2nd unit.

    • CJSHYY

I want to know too. Hate it. Not again. smh!

    • cdblue10

NBA basketball is about all money that’s business,if Clifford will not play Walker or Batum over Lin in terms of minutes he’s answerable to the GM and Owner, that’s what it goes

    • CJSHYY

PJ can’t play so today is different story.

    • sws94

He’s not using Lamb to replace Lin. We don’t need to set this rivalry up. Lamb complements Lin, Lin is Lamb’s best asset on this team. Lamb doesn’t have the skills Lin has to close games and he’s not counted on to do so as Lin is. We have enough games to see that tendency.

    • Lx

🙁 Yeah I don’t like seeing him like that. I thought Hornets was going to be a good place for Lin (it is better than the other two), but it doesn’t seem like it.

    • LinMad

ya when Lin starts to talk in a slow deep voice, he’s not happy.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Winning comes first. Clifford is only answerable if he lost the game. It’s all good if he won. Everyone has to buy in. He took Lamb out in the last 2+ minutes for Lin. It worked. So Hornets is back to 50%. When winning, the coach is always right! Don’t forget that.

    • LinMad

It’s not better cause he’s getting less minutes than previous seasons.

    • sws94

Batum is far outperforming anyone on the team. So he’s going to play and should. Kemba is someone that can execute the plays where sometimes the offense gets directionless with Lin. So Kemba plays. Everything else is reasons people here are fishing for to say why Lin doesn’t play. Some of that is a factor, but I think it is mostly what goes on in court that matters.

    • CJSHYY

It’s not rivalry. It’s fact, on vs Bulls game 2, Lamb totally replaced Lin in 4Q. I believe that’s what Cliff had in mind. Even today too. When he saw Lin couldn’t score well, pulled him w Lamb instead.

    • LinMad

do you really think MJ doesn’t care about Lin? All the business and fans he brought to the franchise amounts more than Kemba/Batum being happy.

I do think MJ wants Lin to succeed. I even think Kemba wants Lin to succeed too. He’s probably relaying the message down to Cliff and maybe we might see Lin play more in future games but if not, Lin will ask for a trade and franchise will take a hit.

    • sws94

Yes. The he looked like a different player in Chicago. He didn’t help the team go in a momentum that was positive for a possible win. So he sits. That’s the coach’s job to put on the best guys. He did better in this game, but his second stint was subpar.

    • cdblue10

Even if the team is winning but players want to fire the coach they can good example is Carl from Nuggets

    • sws94

Who finished tonight? And this is after had quite a poor 2nd half up to this point. And the people at the game said Clifford was praising Lin while yelling at Lamb.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

His shots didn’t fall in. Shooting 22%+ is not going to make him happy.

    • sws94

MJ may be evaluating Lin now. I don’t think he’s come to any conclusion other than he has a lot of talent.

    • LinMad

well we did lose against Bulls when Lin didn’t get to finish. And now that Lin gets to finish, we won a game that was slipping away fast.

    • sws94

His performance and not keeping up the level of play of Minny and NYK. But he seems OK. Just matter of fact.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Lots of talk on Lin’s good D but if Cliff really likes LIn’s D so much why he did not ask Lin back vs bullls?

    • LinMad

a lot of untapped potential. The thing they have to figure out is how to tap into it without making other players angry that their minutes have fallen.

    • Barry Allen

With Kemba there, I always had my doubts that the Hornets was a good place for Lin.

    • sws94

Bad decision. Fixed it this game.

    • cdblue10

Hard to really know what’s going on backdoor but the only thing I surely know is NBA is about business

    • sws94

Good night guys. Try to stay positive. I’m critiquing Lin but I totally believe in him. I just want to be honest on what I think can get him the most success in this macho NBA league. He’s a nice guy with a tough edge. Sometimes I think he needs to show that tough edge more to carve his way more into this league.

    • LinMad

he has already with his hair and the fact that he weighs 200 lbs with muscles now

    • james brown

disagree with you regarding Batum, previous 3 to 4 plays, batum took the ball ang bricked twice or thrice and Lamb tried it on his own (without assistance) and was also resulted in a bricked shot. there was a standstill regarding point scored, until that play where BATUM DUMP the ball to JLIN as if the ball was so HOT, and JLIn made a very hard run to basket and scored , Hornet lead by 2. the NYK got their own shot and once again, jlin hold onto the ball because its coming back to him, a rarity during this game except during the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. Batum has a good game then, but his shots becomes stale at the last minutes thats why he’s dumping the ball, while Lamb is nowhere. Gameplan was to give the ball to Batum for the inbound pass , But noticeably, Batum seems shying away from it instead of taking it , unlike JLIn who was opened , hawes instructions was to give the ball to an indecisive Batum which almost cause hornets loss! .

    • LinMad

This is what I call exciting basketball…

      https://vine.co/v/iBFFx0wzXFJ

    • Jim

if he did then hed play Lin more and gave him more of the benefit of the doubt when hes not playing very well he just played extremely well in those games otherwise he is a back up
and no plays called for him no screens
teammates rather not pass to him same stuff all over again

    • Jim

Lin 25mil Beverley under 1 mil

    • LinMad

nah theres more than just shooting well. Like being sat on the bench too long and playing with players who won’t give him the ball.

    • Jim

no player on charlotte has that much power

    • cdblue10

He’s a back up I know that ,but most back ups in NBA doesn’t not close out games, and that’s a trust for me esp for a 2 mil player

    • Lx

I just re-watched the first site of Linsanity in the NBA. It never gets old.

    • Jim

Dont think MJ cares as long as team is winning

    • Jim

where are you getting all this from LOL

    • CJSHYY

This is really a good play for both players. Only Lin can do well w this. Never saw Kemba or PB to do it. Ya! Really good play!!!

    • 热情的lychee

      lin to lamb

    • james brown

its a well design play for Lamb..what opportunity?..he tried it before and now they practiced it with Lamb on the focused play.It was called and like JLIN, he threw a pass we know that he can do..its not a secret that he can do that, But with Lamb, its not an instinct, its must be prepared and practiced!

    • Jim

Yah so we can agree that Clifford has Lin as a back up PG no 6th man bs or starter level bs

    • LinMad

Do you think we would have won if Lin didn’t play today? No defense at the end of 4th. No 21+ points lead in the 2nd qtr. Lamb wouldn’t have played that well if it wasn’t for Lin making it easy for Lamb.

Lamb scored 11 points in 1st half with Lin. He only scored 2 points in 2nd half without Lin.

    • LinMad

ofc, but if Lin leaves cause he’s unhappy Charlotte will have a big loss in revenue and fans. Lets not pretend Lin is a nobody in Charlotte. He’s the buzz in buzz city.

    • cdblue10

As 9th rotational player to finish 4th quarters that’s telling me that he’s a trusted player on Hornets

    • Lx

      Dang thats hot!

    • Kwok Wai Lai

The team has given up good assets to Portland to get Batum, If Batum walks away next season, it would look real bad on the GM and the coach. So Batum is the star of the team. Hornets will give whatever he asks to succeed. He’s the number one go to guy in the team; much more than Walker.

Lin is on 2 years cheap contract but everybody knows that Lin is going to opt out next season if he’s playing well this season for a much better offer. Hornets is not going to change his contract and definitely offering him no extension before the end of this season. So Jeremy is currently used behind Lamb although Lin has shown in preseason that he actually works with the first team much better than Lamb does.

Lamb is going to have his minutes as backup SG or as SG when Batum moves to SF. Lin will only be used as back up for Walker and behind Lamb as SG. That’s why the minutes of Jeremy goes down. He is the second backup as SG for the team. Lin will only be used more should either Walker or Lamb has a bad day.

The trend was Lin-Hawes checked in the game at the same time. So he’s considered a backup PG and a third string SG, Lin will have to give up the ball to Batum and Walker during the game. That probably affected his minutes. But Lin played hard on defense so that he might be called upon when the game’s up for grab. In the future, he would be given about 20 minutes or so unless his shots fall in well. The coach might even let him finish the game.

    • Lx

Ed Davis has seen that pass before.

    • LinMad

I wonder if Batum asked the coach/GM to play Lin minimal minutes or he’ll go to a different team…I mean it kind of showed since early season when Batum was refusing to pass the ball to Lin. Pretty much ignoring him.

    • cdblue10

They hated him in Houston they didn’t accept him on the first place he’s a cover up if everything fails,Morey’s job is safe no matter what.

    • CJSHYY

Just a note, Cliff sure not favor on this bc he’s just like Mc… cut down TO.
Dangerous pass can become TO. Hope Cliff don’t have heart attack. LOL!

    • an article on jeremy lin and jeremy lamb… when they thought they would play together for the Rockets, in 2012. too bad it never happened. but now it’s finally happening.

      http://articles.courant.com/2012-08-02/sports/hc-jeremy-lamb-0803-20120802_1_rolando-lamb-jeremy-lamb-jeremy-lin

“The first thing I thought, Jeremy Lin and Jeremy Lamb,” Lamb said. “Just a coincidence. He’s a great player. He can set himself up and set everyone else up. … It’s going to be fun playing with him.”

Now Lamb’s getting what he looked forward to!

    • james brown

not always..case at hand…PB vs Lin and Clarkson vs JLIN (time management) JLIN received higher salary but becomes bench player and relegate PB as starter..Clarkson as SG becomes PG against JLIN?

but we all know that if JLIn is a starter, He needs to prove he’s a starter, and if he is a bench player , He has to Seized his OPPORTUNITY so he can show to the coach that he can be a starter (double wham!)

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Yeah, that will give more reason for Clifford to play Lin but still only in close game situation. In games Charlotte leads by many points, Lin can play Lamb for more minutes after Kemba and Batum sit on the bench to stay healthy. Lin and Lamb will then have the chance of working together.

    • lamb’s been looking forward to passes like that for awhile. see this old article on lin and lamb, and how lin might eventually lob alley-oops to lamb like he did for landry fields:

      http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1285464-houston-rookie-jeremy-lamb-says-hes-ready-for-the-nba

    • LinMad

it’s not eve about Lin starting anymore. it’s about Lin getting his 25 minutes per game now which has fallen to 17-20 minutes. What’s next?? 15? DNP-CD?

    • cdblue10

What’s a common denominator it’s always Lin,but can you give me 5 players that have the same situation like him

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Troy Daniels would standby to play for Hornets too.

    • LinMad

and they starting to look great together. Too bad it’s only for 8 minutes…

    • CJSHYY

Ya! I remember this statement by Lamb.

    • cdblue10

At this time nobody but if they will round a mutiny he will

    • LinMad

everytime Lin has a bad game or plays too little, I sometimes go back to those old clips to be lintertained lol

    • james brown

WELL SAID..this is better than what others keep on harping that JLIN needs to GRAB OPPORTUNITY to be considered. Reality dictates JLIn predicaments right now..

I believe he consider Hornets as a good home for him, unfortunately and as of the moment. hornets are not showing their interest yet with him..might be later if they have good showing and Batum or anybody opt not to resign with them.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

That I agree, Lamb is now playing as the 2nd PG or 3rd SG.

    • LinMad

ya I think this is what Cliff meant a few games back about Lin’s circus plays. But man, they are exciting to watch and this is what people paid for. This is what created Linsanity.

    • james brown

not really..maybe hornets told Batum, he will be an all star this year with their design plays.

    • LinMad

the more I think about it, Lamb has been through the same struggles as Lin. I’m glad they are playing well together now and I wouldn’t mind seeing a Lambsanity season with Lin.

    • CJSHYY

What did Cliff say about Lin’s circus plays? I really think Cliff don’t like Lin’s game bc it’s too free style & he just can’t control it. That’s why he prefers Lin as SG more than PG.

    • james brown

i have no idea? but what i know right now is that there’s an exception to your rule, even maybe this just one exception!
      LOL

    • LinMad

He just said Lin played well and he made some circus plays at the end…but I do think Cliff hated the alley oop during the Knicks game where Lamb missed it but recovered the ball. That’s probably why Lin only got 6 minutes the first half too cause he was benched right after that alley oop attempt. I’m glad Lin is still doing it though.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Whatever Lin does don’t matter. He’s going to be the third SG for this team behind Lamb. He is also the second PG too. When coach Clifford let Walker rest, he would insert Lin right away. But if Batum moves to SF or take a rest, Coach Clifford will always insert Lamb into the game first. Unless Lamb does very poorly, Lin won’t be the first to be put in the game.

    • joyce ward

Lin fans need to realize that lin is not playing with a $25 million dollar tag anymore and their is no obligations on his minutes. I don’t think Clifford lied to lin about playing more minutes, but I think the game changed when They signed Lamb to a $21 million dollar contract. Look, I believe is the best player on this team and management knows it. It is about them fitting lin in. Lin himself stated they wanted out of him and that’s his 3 point shooting and defense. Ljn has to find his niche, which he will.

    • CJSHYY

Haha! If you look at the video above, Cliff walked to the bench to call the players during the alley oop.. he stood a sec to see Lamb catch the ball or not..after that Lin was off the court. He really don’t like Lin’s game for sure. smh!

    • LinMad

I don’t think Lin’s defense is what the hornets should focus on. Lin has so much to offer on the offensive end but because Cliff has so many pieces to use on the offense, he will quickly bench Lin if he is missing or doing risky moves like PnR or alley oop. Yes, apparently, PnR is risky for this team cause we do not have a big that can roll well. It’s strange cause PnR is usually the easiest way to score a bucket.

Problem i see here is that if Lin isn’t happy, he won’t be staying unless he’s offered something really big.

    • kittyhead

      chemistry,creativity and a big heart…lol

    • james brown

if you are the coach of the hornets team, and jlin is your player, just for example only, will you play him for only 16 to 21 minutes given that you want to win? or you will also do what clifford is doing right now, If minutes is not important here for your players?

just like to know your line of thinking so we can see you clearly.

    • cdblue10

LOL yes indeed that’s why all of us is still posting on this board trying to decipher what’s really the real score, most of our posts are merely speculations

    • james brown

or maybe 2nd SG and 3rd PG?

    • LinMad

nah I think that’s just the usual substitution time. And since Lin knew he was getting off, he wanted to end with a bang. And he did even if Cliff told him no lol

    • leeda harun

one of lin specialty that i love….:-)

    • james brown

but do we need 5 exceptions to that rule you gave? isn’t it it only needs 1 exception to make your general rule GENERAL that have exception?

I didn’t say your rule is a fallacy, i just placed there an exception when general rule becomes irrelevant!

    • CJSHYY

I know that’s his famous long pass.

    • CJSHYY

Oh! Ya! 8 min is up .. the 1st half min. smh!

    • LinMad

ya it used to be 10-11 minutes. Now it’s 6-8 minutes…so sad

    • joyce ward

I disagree. I think Clifford is clueless when it comes to offensive strategy and he focuses on defense. Lin himself said that coach silas and clifford wants to challenge him defensively. Lin’s problem is that he is not a good iso player.

    • leeda harun

Idont think MJ evaluating anything..MJ is not that smart in evaluating players. … Lol

    • leeda harun

if the hornet value lin so much…they will do something drastically so that lin is happy and want to stay.

    • Chopz

I’ll agree with you on clifford’s offensive prowess, or lack thereof. But we just have to agree to disagree on Lin not being a good iso player. He can take anybody in this league off the dribble one on one, he can shoot over anybody in this league one on one. Nobody can keep him in front, he also got BAM tested in the nba combine for speed. He had a faster start speed than john wall, derrick rose, and kyrie irving. He had a faster average speed than all three, and his top speed was only second to john wall. He’s so fast he should get a ticket.

He just chooses to be a team player and likes to move the ball around and do pick and roll. Sure he could chuck up shots all day one on one, and no one would be able to stop him, but its not team basketball.

    • GoodDayLA

Lin doesnt have elite iso scoring ability. He is not superhuman.

    • MorlockO

Neither does the whole Charlotte team…

only Kemba has elite Iso skills, but his shots does not go in nor does he draw any fouls, so it doesn’t really matter…

only Lin draws a lot of fouls and can score in bunchs efficiently and dish out effectively… he can also impact both defense and offense…

    • Chopz

Give him the minutes and offensive freedom like batum and kemba get, and he’ll get you 20 points a night easy. He’s already proved time and again when u give him the minutes, just look at this year alone: 12.2 points per game, 2.9 assists per game, all in under 22 minutes per game – excellent numbers when he’s on the court. Like we say: No Lin, no win.

    • Rick Johnson

Rockets playing Boston tomorrow. If Boston loses they will be at .500 tied with Hornets at #7. But I’d like to see the Rockets lose. Not sure who to root for since they both can’t lose.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Lin is a much better ISO player this season. Clifford loves to put him in for smaller PGs like Aaron Brooks.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

I still don’t understand why Clifford use Brian Roberts to start the 4thQ. It immediately gives a chance for the Portland team to come back. He should use Lamb instead. Of course Lamb’s minutes will then be inflated to more than 30+ but this is the 2nd unit that has been working for Hornets.

    • Rick Johnson

Or if he didn’t want to use Lamb he should have used Daniels.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Lakers and Rox thought they couldn’t care less. What makes Charlotte so different?

    • Kwok Wai Lai

That pass is never dangerous. Lin has done it very often. The defender was simply beaten by almost 2 steps. Lamb has his 2 hands on the ball and the defender wasn’t even close. This is the safest play that you can have. Nobody is even close to Lamb when he’s making that dunk.

    • zxcvb

Until Lin (or any NBA player) gets at least 25-30mpg every game, you’re going to see a lot of “off games.” Lou Williams was 6MOY last year and he had 4p/4a in 20m last night.

The truth is, I don’t think Lin will get consistent minutes unless there’s an injury. But if he keeps playing the way he has this season, his stats, minutes and %s will continue to improve. Clifford will see that there’s no way to secure a playoff spot without Lin playing more time.

Even tonight, with cold shooting, he was “forced” to put Lin back in to clinch the game. And Lin delivered with a great dish and defense. That’s a teeny, tiny bit of progress. We’ll see what happens next game if/when Lin is hot again.

    • Pete Roces

      Where are the highlights?

    • Kwok Wai Lai

What I don’t understand is when Hornets was 20 points ahead with Jeremy Lin & Lamb & MW virtually demolishing the Trailblazers on the court, Coach Clifford inserted Hairston for Cody Zeller. Once Zeller went out, the rhythm simply disappeared.
The 2nd team is only as good as it is.
Once they took Lamb out, and inserted Brian Roberts to start the 4thQ, the rhythm was lost too. Trying for different connections with Hairston and Roberts could be very costly because these 2 players did not come close to the original used before.

    • Joe what do you know

I’d have to go with Kemba when it comes to ISO. But basketball is a team sport. That’s why despite possessing incredible handling skills and superb lateral movement which allows him to change directions during dribbling to shake off his defenders, Kemba is only producing at the current level. He’s a bit short, he seems to have an unexplainable fear of taking the ball to the hoop when he thinks he might get fouled (instead he’d always pass the ball out in the midst of dribble penetration). And, we all know, his pitiful shooting percentage…

Lin, on the other hand, is a completely different type of player. I would say Lin has a proper competitive basketball player’s skill set compared to Kemba’s street ball style fanciness. Anyway, Lin is quick off his feet no doubt. But that is limited to linear, forward movement. He’s not particularly quick when it comes to momentum and direction changes. That’s why he’s more effective if he’s paired with a PNR partner. But the most effective weapon of Jeremy Lin is actually his on-court organisational skills and court vision, combined with he’s quick reaction. This skill alone makes him a better floor general than Kemba.

So to be short, those 2 are 2 different type of ball players. Kemba is super quick and fancy, able to shake off defenders at will with his dribbling and direction changes etc. But he isn’t as smart as Lin in terms of BBall IQ. Lin is a fundemental player, nothing too fancy, has certain physical advantage over Kemba, but has higher IQ and much more suited to organise a play.

    • Rick Johnson

Who’s handwriting is that? The reporter writing down what JLin said or did JLin just say something that he had written down beforehand?

    • Chopz

We’ll have to disagree on this one then. Just another myth that shall be laid to rest eventually, just like Lin not being able to play defense.

    • Rick Johnson

Yes, in the 2nd quarter they were running Portland out of the arena. If they kept the 2nd team in they could have run up the score, demoralized Portland and the rest of the game would have been garbage time.

    • joyce ward

I still think Clifford is figuring out the team skill sets. He knows that lin/lamb/zeller/williams play well together. I think he is trying to see what other pieces fit.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

They could easily run up the score by 30 points because the Portland Trailblazers has nothing to answer them on the court. They have to rush back their first team but again it won’t make much difference. Perhaps the first team of Hornets won’t even get to play in the 2ndQ.

    • Kwok Wai Lai

When Lamb is on the court!

    • Kwok Wai Lai

Coach Clifford just doesn’t want to use Lin as PG even though 2nd Q showed that it worked really well.

    • Joe what do you know

Sigh… I typed such long paragraphs on my tiny iPhone screen but still people are not reading into what I said. I never said Lin is BAD @ ISO. He’s just not as adapt to it as Kemba. In terms of shaking off perimeter defenders. But Kemba is also not ELITE due to his size and fear of taking it all the way to the hoop, and that’s the advantage JLin has over Kemba in that situation.

    • Joe what do you know

Yeah I know. I just hate typing on my tiny iPhone screen so I didn’t explain in depth… Lol

    • Chopz

I saw every little tiny word n letter from ur tiny iphone and i know exactly what your saying, so there’s no miscommunication. I think lin is more adept at shaking off defenders, period, exclamation point. The difference between the two on most one on one moves is kemba has tunnel vision and jeremy is probing for cutters n shooters.

    • Joe what do you know

Ok fair enough. If you fully understood what I meant to say and still disagree, that’s definitely agree to disagree situation.

    • AlexBB

Hi all. Did not read most messages. Anyone reported from court side?

    • Rick Johnson

Don’t understand why he doesn’t want Lin at PG. If you look at the GameFlow, the most productive period for the Hornets was in the 2nd qtr when Walker sat and JLin played PG. It started a 23-5 run. Then it was pretty much sideways, continued to go sidways with Walker as PG and Lin in at SG. Slide came in 4th quarter when Roberts was PG and Lin SG and no Lamb, he put Walker in at PG, slide continued, took Lin out put Lamb in slide continued. Finally put Lin back in took Lamb out and when on a 8-0 run to secure the win.

Roberts had the worst +/- with -7

he’ll need it to go deep.

that seems to be the pattern now, saw that at Bulls.

Wu Kong had a court side report but in numerous small posts.

    • JLin Fan from Australia

Wukong, was out for the whole day. Got back not so long ago and have a hard to find time your posts/reports on what you witnessed in the game. Could you please do a summary for us when you have time??? This was a long long thread and it’s really hard to dig thru about 1300 posts to find your posts. Thanks in advance!

    • adele

If Lin is allowed to become PG. There will be Linsanity but No sir not allowed sorry. Unless somebody is hurt. But we dont want that to happen. So for the hopefuls about Linsanity 2, we have to take the backseat on this ride.

    • adele

      And Kevin Martin

    • adele

Agree 100%. I dont really understand why some people can’t see the limited minutes of play can affect the players productivity over a long period of time. Its so glaring. People need to open their eyes wider and watch.

    • adele

We don’t have to worry about Lamb. He is much favored than Lin in this scenario. He will start before Lin, he will be given more minutes, and given more compensation and extended contract.

    • KL

I watched the end of 3rd quarter / whole 4th quarter. I think coach expected it to be garbage time and brought in Roberts. Then things started to unravel. He brought in Kemba, not Lamb but they still unravelled. Then he brought Lamb in place of Lin and they unravelled even more. I was screaming at the coach! Don’t you get it? Then he brought Lin for the last few possessions in place of Lamb. Offence still stagnant cause Kemba was PG. But at least Lin’s defence was critical. 3 defensive possessions including fouling out Ed Davis. The last behind the back pass was just a statement pass, showing off his vision and confidence. Al is a good finisher, much better than Hawes or Zeller.

Not enough and not fair but it will have to do for now.

    • adele

Boston. If Hornets lose games, Clifford will be fired.

    • heart

Cliff kept trying to win WITHOUT LIN like past coaches (McHale & BS) and catering and building up Batum’s status and scoring. Isn’t this OBVIOUS marginalization and promise not kept to LIN? LIN definitively didn’t look happy in post game w/the win last night. It’s a definite sign that he’s UNHAPPY w/the current situation.

I agree w/the above, except the last part of the last line I’d change to: “It won’t do for now or in the future if this Lin’s treatment keeps up!”

    • CJSHYY

I think bc of top or whatever…Cliff didn’t dare to move Lin out until the lead cut to 12 only bc Lin didn’t score any so he finally moved Lin. But you are right, why he never let Lin just a PG or at least can run the O like Kemba & Batum?

    • heart

Promise not kept, marginalization? Politics at Lin’s expense?

    • CJSHYY

I agreed Cliff tried to do that vs Bulls but not last night. — Cliff kept trying to win WITHOUT LIN.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Two of them just not get along well now. That’s the problem.

    • heart

      which two?

    • CJSHYY

      Cliff & Lin.

    • 1mtoldman

would u go as far as to say that lin has fallen off a “cliff”.

his minutes historic certainly have: provided note previously and will followup with chart later.

    • 1mtoldman

bursts might be a better word.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

I thought Jeremy Lin forced a few shots last night and took a bit too many long 2points shot….Some of that may be because he knows he has very few minutes to score double digit, so he may be pressing a bit so he can score at least 5 point in each half.

I blame this on Clifford because now, Jeremy is tense and he’s becoming more selfish because this is a contract year and he needs to put up some numbers.

This is why Clifford needs to at least guaranty Lin 25 minutes or I worry Lin will take the court every night shooting bad shots and that may kill his FG%.

His 3point shot is still not there…He’s going to need to shoot the 3point ball at 36% of better if he hopes to get at least 12ppg which is my goal for Jeremy under his current minutes.

Reaching 12ppg under 20minutes will still be hard..so if he can finish the season in double digit, that would be good enough.

At this point, he needs to protect his FG% and stick to attacking the rim or drop it off to a big man..He needs more assit.

I also noticed that when he attacks the rim, he always look to finish it himself instead of dropping it to an open man….He really could use a “lean shot” so that he doesn’t have to drive right at opposition big men waiting for Jeremy in the lane…Unless he gets fouls score, it’s going to be difficult for Lin to continue to attack the rim without a lean-shot to shoot above the big men waiting for him at the rim.

    • CJSHYY

I just agree w what she said about “Cliff kept trying to win WITHOUT LIN.”

    • CJSHYY

    • adele

      Obviously.

    • Acbc

None of what Clif is doing is making sense. What is a constant wth Lin and his past team’s are that they make excuses from normal treatment of players when it comes to Lin. What we have seen is that their actions have hidden agendas. There is no meritocracy what so ever when it comes to Lin! It’s this constant that infuriates us the most because so many of us have had to deal with this type of treatment in our own workplace. Our frustrations get transplanted to Lin and often spills over to blame when we ourselves can’t do much about it tha he could. We should be MORE sympathetic but instead we slander him in frustration.

My hope now is that Clifford didn’t lie to Lin when he spent 5 hours trying to convince him to join the Hornets. What I’m left with is that just maybe they are trying to shine up Wlaker and Big Al to trade them and that Batum is there future. Clifford keeps saying that he is committed to the new style of play and yet the starters keep playing the same game as last year. This alone makes no sense.

    • Acbc

Lol, it’s always a “Cliff hanger” with Lin each and every game it seems.

    • Al

That’s why hornets are starting him. Hornets are trying to raise his value.

    • adele

Can’t you see Clifford is very consistent in giving Lin few minutes here and there and giving his stars their regular 30 minutes every single game. That’s reality and pure facts. No presumptions.

    • adele

Fact: Lin’s minutes is going downhill. His role in the team? Back-up and reserve. A bench player. Whether he plays well in his given minutes or not. Hard to swallow for us Lin fans because we know that he is better than Kemba as PG on this team.

    • adele

I watched the game and I saw Lin’s demeanor. Even if they are winning, Lin is not happy. Why? His tweet about “surrender” said it all.

    • heart

Yep. He is not happy with the current situation. No smile nor self critique and down trotten face speak for itself.

    • JJ Hui
    • BobbyH

Just my observation. From previous 2 post game interviews, Lin seemed not that excited or engaged anymore. Even sitting on the bench, the cheering was more like a banal style. Maybe I am wrong. But the reactions were quite different compared before.

Some posters here doubt that even if Lin is traded to another team, there is no guarantee that the coach of the new team will trust Lin and Lin has to adjust to new team/players/systems. But would Hornets want Lin? If they really really want Lin to stay, why give Lin such treatment?

As a selfish fan, I hope Lin would take the risk to demand a trade since Lin has limited opportunities in this team. He is the 8th or 9th option, with 20 minutes PT at most. This is totally different from what Clifford said. We don’t know what promises Hornets gave to Lin before signing, but this is not what Lin envisioned. Instead of revert back to pre-Linsanity playing status, why not seeking other opportunities that could utilize Lin’s capabilities? It is a risk, but it is better than buried in the bench begging for PT.

I know, again there is no guarantee that the situation in new team will be better. But think about this, whoever wants to get Lin needs to offer some picks or assets. That means they are serious and they want to push for the playoff and they have a need for Lin, at least for half a season. That’s enough and better than in this team that sees you as 8th or 9th guy.

If Hornets isn’t high on Lin and if there are reasonable offer, they will trade Lin. Because Clifford wants size, not skills, defense, not offense. So why wasting another year in a team that doesn’t need your service?

I know, I know, it is all conditional. But situations and circumstance could change in a month for the rest of 29 teams. Just painful to watch Lin misused like this.

    • GoodDayLA

No its all on lin. He said so himself this summer. Cant blame coach.

    • Parent of an 8th Grader

Going to the Knicks v hornets game tomorrow. Seat’s high up but will watch carefully for any hint of anything that might give us some clue as to what is going on. If anyone could give me some tips on how to get to the lower levels to take better photos etc, I welcome the help.

    • CJSHYY

      Great. Waiting for your report.

    • CJSHYY

If they want to trade him why let him played so less min w bad stats? He should be like Al w every chance to take the shot?

    • Acbc

Can’t you see that history allows us to understand and learn from it? I’m less traumatized as most of you because I try to find the underlying reasons for unreasonable acts. I don’t pretend to know like most of the Clifford haters on this site that it’s is all because of the coach. Woodson, Mchale and BS all were tools that served another master. That’s pure fact! That’s not presumptions. The mob mentality here is shameful. You all want to hang the coach but you may in fact be hanging only the small fry while the mastermind gets away with murder.

    • Rzo Vlade

    • LAJane

I like Sportige’s article on this game, and their favorable comments about Jeremy, including “Sometimes, players influence a game and an offense just by being there and being involved. Lin is one of those guys.”

We had very high hopes that this would be smoother fit for Jeremy, considering management’s favorable pursuit and Jeremy’s own enthusiasm. But…the NBA is an extremely turbulent workplace. Jeremy absolutely certainly knew he was being asked to come into a team with starter spots already filled and clearly went out of his way to express his “team first” attitude. Then Batum and Lamb were added in an atmosphere where Kemba and Al were continuing to receive criticism from Hornets fans. Jeremy has battled the “proving yourself” demons and come out on top with exceptional maturity, but he can’t control the insecurities of others. Clifford has his hands full trying to mesh everyone’s agendas and we know very well how few coaches are masterful at that. We’ll see.

In the meantime, it’s my personal view that Clifford has so much confidence in Jeremy’s ability and maturity that he feels he can leave him to the side a bit while he tries to wrestle with the other pieces. From Joyce Ward’s post below: ” Look, I believe Lin is the best player on this team and management knows it. It is about them fitting Lin in.” It’s just not a fun process for Jeremy, and it’s agonizing for us. Where will this plot go….

    • CJSHYY

Wow! Lin to Lamb for Allep-oops is #2.

    • LAJane

I love the view from behind Lin. He fires that long shot to Lamb with absolute confidence and pinpoint-accuracy. Beautiful!!!

    • CJSHYY

Ya! You have to be good & confidence to do the Allep-oops. Really good.

    • JW
    • golfhacker

Even if Lin gets traded to another team and the situation is the same, his contract still follows him, right? Lin can decline the 2nd year and look to hook up with another team. That’s my understanding.

    • CJSHYY
    • golfhacker

He should be practicing his floater and pull-up jumper (and I don’t mean fadeaways).

    • CJSHYY

      I think so too.

    • Chopz

For #2 the commentator says: “Jeremies’ spoke in class today” – Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam reference. Pearl “Jam” get it? nice.

    • Chopz

So you’re gonna give us “Cliff Notes”

    • heart

Your word: “….Cliff has so much confidence in Jeremy’s ability and maturity that he feels he can leave him to the side a bit while he tries to wrestle with the other pieces.” My word: Dream on.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Agreed….He really needs a floater so that he doesn’t have to drive to deep into the paint..sometimes, there’s like 3 defender waiting for Lin under the paint, so a floater would come in handy so he can float the ball over their head and into the basket.

Instead of shooting floater, he makes a full stop and take a fade away shot..many of these fade away shots are too short and hit the front rim…Needs to put a bit more power into it…If you’re gonna miss, make sure it’s not too short.

    • NONONO

Cliff’s experiment on Brian Roberts’ PG messed up the 2nd unit in 4q. Lin looked confused or something in that period and on the bench after that. Do you think Lin could be bothered by the inconsistent rotation arrangement?

Too bad, it made Lin’s great 2q contribution “disappeared”. I wonder Cliff knew it was his experiment causing the damage, then out Lin back to the game in final 3 mins to help stopping Hornets bleeding. Anyway, we all know what Lin is capable of offense and defense if he is PG.

    • Chopz

Hey I like the circus. Cirque du Soleil and Ringling Brothers n Barnum n Bailey circus. Get out the popcorn.

    • Brent Yen

Not entirely agreeing….but lazy to present my arguments….this floater thing has been said for 3yrs now…lol

    • golfhacker

Yep, I absolutely cringe when he takes those fadeaways. The problem is he waits a split-second too long and by that time the defender has closed the gap and he has no choice but to take a fadeaway. He can’t wait, he needs to go straight up with the pull-up jumper.

    • Chopz

      Remember this one? Nice.

    • CJSHYY

      So much confidence? When?

    • Rzo Vlade
    • Rzo Vlade
    • NONONO

Don’t worry, floater and pull-up jumper could be his next 2 hours practices.

    • ZcodeSportSystem.com

Lin is probably too professional to ask for a trade…He may also get some negative feedback around the league..people will tell him he just got there and should stick it out and fight for more minutes…and that he should be more patient.

But of course, the issue here is Clifford refuses to reward Jeremy for the good pre-season he had + the 13ppg he had before the 2 bad games…That’s when Lin realized that the minutes Cliff had in mind for him was a bit too small…so now, Lin is pressing more because he has less time to put up good statistics.

So the great pre-season Lin had didn’t mean anything to Clifford since he didn’t reward Lin with good minutes…That is the biggest fault I see in Clifford…His philosophy doesn’t take into account bench player who are playing well…He’ll continue to give Lin 18-20minute every night no matter what Lin does…

If Lin were to be averaging 20ppg in the next 5 games, while playing only 20minutes per game, Clifford would still continue to give Lin 20minutes…He’d probably tell the media that the reason Lin is playing so well is because of the limited minutes that he’s playing and that Lin is fresh and well rested because of low minutes..

This guy may indeed be worse than McHale and Byron Scott.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

    • blubell
    • takemeback2reaganyears

It’s nice to have both but layup is a much higher percentage and floater hardly draw foul.

    • NONONO

It seems the room is small so Lin has to hit the wall every time he layup? No wonder few players in Hornets would attack the rim. Come on, MJ, please make some investment.

    • DaVinci633

JLin is treated as a bench player. Not a star by Clifford. Bench role is to support starters. Clifford is optimizing rotation for the sake of the starters. The starters are given consistency so that they can get better each game. This impacts Lin’s minutes. When Lin plays alot of minutes, it is ONLY when he can impact the game in a drastic way. Otherwise its bench minutes.

    • adele

I hope Clifford’s confidence in Lin will equate to more minutes and playing his style of play. Im not seeing it.

    • kjch

Interesting~ are you thinking what I’m thinking……. Hairsanity?

    • NONONO

I am worry Cliff might pair Roberts (PG) with Lin (SG) as 2nd unit!!! Lin does not work well wit current starters because he wouldn’t have any freedom to play his way.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

kumbaya kumbaya, wishful thinking to even think that Cliff has so much confidence in Lin. Why are only a few of us really commenting based on what we’re seeing instead of wishing?

    • Linzen

      Lin starts at SG?!!?

    • blubell

      I’m always thinking Hairsanity! 😀

    • NONONO

I hope it would not happen. Have you ever seen Batum or Walker pass ball to Lin even when he is wide open?

    • sws94

It was looking like a blowout, otherwise Roberts doesn’t play.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! Feel the same way. I think they will play.

    • golfhacker

Yup, needs to do more of that! A thing of beauty.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lamb will play and he will start if PJ is out.

    • Alain Gervais

Wont mean anything. For one game i guess it would be fun. Really depends if Kemba keeps hogging the ball

    • JW

To counter the height of Porzingis(7′ 3″), they probably want to have Cody who’s listed as 7′. Seems like Porzingis had his way w/ Marvin in the last game.

Lamb’s shots might be off if he plays w/ a bad shoulder.

    • sws94

There were posters at the game yesterday and one that saw Lin on the bench. She said Lin seemed happy and engaged.

    • sws94

That looks good. Joe looks good.

    • NONONO

I rather Cliff could constrain Walker’s mins to 28 so he can play his way through entire season healthy and more effectively. In the meantime, let Lin play as truly backup PG for him with more minutes.

    • LAJane

Well…I’m basing my opinion on my decades of managing staff. OF COURSE I could be wrong. But FOR THE MOMENT this is what I see: when I had a group of newbies, all looking to prove their worthiness to handle assignments on their own, I often gave them opportunities that their seniors would like to have had. None of the seniors liked it, and some got nervous that they were being passed over, but there is no other way to test talent and trustworthiness than to give new entries challenges. I never lost sight of the expertise of my seniors, and I actually relied on them to keep their confidence and be role models for steady work ethic no matter the current climate. The ones who who could do that showed themselves as the true “cream of the crop”. HOWEVER…that did not mean that management above me always followed my recommendations and strategies. Being the best never always means getting the most prestigious slot. Sadly, meritocracy is the ideal that is often not honored…true in EVERY human situation.

What I see FOR THE MOMENT is that Clifford has had very good things to say about Jeremy, and has NEVER thrown him under the bus. He doesn’t give him the minutes we feel are both deserved and also rational for wins, but Jeremy is always the one he throws in to try to keep things from completely unraveling, even if it turns out to be a bit too late. That is recognition of value and reliance on a maturity that comes through even after sitting on the shelf. This story may end up being a disappointing one, but I’m going to hold off expecting the worst until it actually arrives, which would be much further down the season.

    • sws94

I think that should have made the highlight reel, that behind the back pass to Al over the lob pass to Lamb. That was nice and exciting but that behind the back pass was a bigger play and harder to make.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Last man off the bench is borderline 3rd string player. Lin’s normal rotation is last in and first out in both half, change’s only made otherwise.

    • golfhacker

I’m not saying he doesn’t, but look at the video. He barely gets nudged. If he can’t make the layup 90% of the time with THAT contact, he’s got problems. We all know he gets hit 10x harder than that in the actual games, so THIS exercise with Silas is a waste of time. Of course at practice you can’t simulate actual real world contact, so they’d be much better served to use the time to practice his floaters and pull-ups where theoretically these shot are designed to avoid contact to begin with.

    • sws94

It still looked like a blowout then and that’s when Roberts plays, in blowouts.

    • sws94

Honestly Jane, those responding won’t be happy unless Lin is used more and they believe there are political agendas behind Lin’s usage. They aren’t seeing the full team enough in my opinion to consider Clifford’s position as coach and how Lin is one of the personnel being used. Clifford, agree with him or not, makes moves that have a reason. Unfortunately, Lin and Kemba together aren’t producing so I think that’s the reason for Lin’s fewer minutes. Not Lamb who absolutely has praised Lin and has pretty much says he is Lin’s favorite team mate on the court. Zeller and Hawes have pretty much as well.

    • sws94

I think Lin isn’t the best player on the team because there are two many down games with his up games. Batum, despite whatever people are saying about opportunities, has more of a consistent approach and force than Lin does. Batum never reaches Lin’s highs and impact when Lin is having a big game, but he hasn’t been as much of a nonfactor at times either. Part of it is the schemes, part of it is Lin deferring more than he should. I’m happy to see he did not defer in his closing stint and proved his worth. And, the fact that Clifford went with him shows me Clifford knows what Lin is made up and can do when it really counts. Minutes high or low that is the huge difference between him and McHale/Sampson and Scott was tanking and incompetent.

    • Acbc

      Good post

    • takemeback2reaganyears

2nd season in Houston, he was used at attacking the basket and he was the league second best in drive behind LBJ. This game is about finding easy basket and high percentage shot. All guards look to drive for slam dunk or layup, floater is secondary when they can’t get near the basket because of big man standing guard.

    • Acbc

The Jems spoke in class today!

    • Linzen

But, it is bad either way. Being in 2nd unit with Roberts will demote him to 2nd unit SG for 20 minutes.
This way, at least he is a starter for one game and plays his Linsane D. 🙂

    • Linzen

Agree! It is more for my viewing pleasure.
Oh he will hog the ball.

    • heart

Only a few of us see and accept what’s truly happening.

    • Linzen

      You are probably right… 🙁

    • LAJane

🙂 On the other hand, it keeps his body tough for the hard checks he’s given on court. Not glad for Zeller’s recent bloodbath, but for once it wasn’t Lin bleeding.

    • CJSHYY

Just like Cliff to Lance on court?

    • golfhacker

That’s my point – if there’s a defender (or two) blocking the basket, he should take the floater All THE TIME. But he doesn’t. Obviously, if the lane is open then he should take the layup. He needs to access to situation quickly and decide layup or floater.

    • JLin is a survivor; he knows how to outlast all kinds of tough situation
(i.e. bad coaches, end of Knicks bench, changed role in HOU, LA tanking, etc.)

This lack of PT & shooting struggle shall pass too. Hakuna Matata!

Until then, let’s enjoy flashes of his PG brilliance until he seizes the next best opportunity just like in NY.

In reality I will speak out when I see people say not the same with what they do. Your story somehow very interesting, it’s somewhat matched to what going on with Lin. He’s silence and doing his job. I’m a fan I can say what’s true out there and not wishing for otherwise.

This is about basketball and JLin nothing more. You’re not disappointed anyone, but I’ll continue to say what I see in actual action on court not based on pregame or post game interviews.

BTW, Lin is looking for every opportunity to get recognition too, that’s why he wants his option for next season with the Hornets.

That’s a perfect pass calculation to Lamb.

    • KHuang

Lin’s got the green light, but he has to shoot well to warrant minutes.

Lately he’s been in a shooting slump. But he’s also forced his opponents into shooting slumps too.

My suspicion is that Lin is a bit too hard on himself and is not having as much fun as he should. He’s probably glum at how nothing he does seems to improve his minutes, contract situation, or respect. Lin’s in a funk for the moment.

Once Lin realizes that his future contract negotiations are completely UNinfluenced by what he does on the court, he’ll snap out of his funk and simply ENJOY his season. And that will improve his play.

    • CJSHYY

Hornets shows Lin’s practice video again. So maybe tomorrow he will have good game then. I am not worry about his shooting at all. He will be fine.

    • sws94

Respect is Clifford telling Lin to do your thing and help this team on both ends the last 3 minutes of the game. And he did that last night. And that’s after having a tough 2nd half.

Lin should be rejuvenated at Cliff getting him in there and the way he played. He should go back to that tape and when Kemba and he are on the floor, pick his spots and make plays. Be another playmaker with Batum and Kemba.

Lin has to be stronger. MJ said he’s the most important acquisition but Batum is playing like most important acquisition. Get some friendly competition in there Lin. Play like the most important acquisition. You don’t even need the minutes. Lin was more of a factor in the NY game than Batum in making critical plays in the Knick game with far less minutes. Can’t happen all the time but can happen more if Lin just says bleep it, stops trying to be perfect and accommodating, and plays like he did in the last 3 minutes of last game where he didn’t score a point but made a huge impact.

    • orLinaryjoe

Hornets highlighting Lin again. Perhaps he will start. There will be some fan love there. looking forward to report from Rosebud.

In his mind, its just another early-season road game, although Jeremy Lin knows the trip such as the one the Hornets are making to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night will always hold some special meaning with regards to his basketball career.

Lin is human and as basketball player, he needs momentum too. In and out inconsistent minutes and roles, no one can perform well the entire time.

    • sws94

You’re just being negative. MJ said it to the world and Lin can use that as motivation. That’s my point. I don’t care if MJ meant it or not, he said it. So Lin can either prove MJ’s public words wrong or right.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Mike can change everything in just a meeting away. See the different treatment about Lamb before and after he signed the deal? He was DNP-CD in game 1 of the season.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I used to take that as positive when they were in China. I now wake up.

    • sws94

He’s not inconsistent at all. He’s not a starter one day and a backup another, closing one day and not another. He’s mostly being used consistently, just shorter minutes than we’d like and everything else is based on basketball decisions while the game progress. Only the starters have regular minutes, not backups or bench guys and even the starters have sat in the crunch. Al has 3 times.

If you look at who Lin plays with, he’s building chemistry with Williams and already has it with Lamb. It’s hard to have any with Hawes who sabotages what Lin tries to do. Zeller is a decent fit, but he’s no Ed. If that unit does well, he plays more. If it doesn’t, Cliff tries to blend him with Kemba in the first half, but hasn’t had great results.

    • sws94

You’re being negative. Did MJ say it or not? I don’t care when or why but it is something Lin can use for motivation from arguably the greatest player ever.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Your game needs moment to warm up to. Once hot he’s bench, 6 min up. Second half repeat the same. But sometime his second half, he got cold again.

Lin role has been either 1 or 2 depending who’s on with him. In those short min playing, it not easy to adjust.

    • CJSHYY

Ya! They do favor the players w long team contract. Lin didn’t sign yet… If MJ don’t care about Lin anymore… no the promote video for Lin.

    • sws94

Or it is marketing. But Lin downplayed going to the Garden. He says it’s been too long to have the meaning it used to and it is close to just another game.

    • sws94

Does Batum have a long-term contract?

    • CJSHYY

No. But I think he will stay that’s why he got green light on court now. They even asked him to be more selfish-take more shots.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      How much is Batum salary?

    • Lx

      11 mil this year

    • LAJane

      Enjoyment is always the key.

    • orLinaryjoe

You never forget your first, especially when it was so good. Seeing some Knicks 17 shirts hopefully can get him going.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

There you go. 6x more than Lin.

    • joyce ward

There a whole lot of games left in the season. I think Clifford is figuring out a way on best how to use lin to play to his strengths.Al, Batum, and Walker are being catered to so it’s easy to look good when you are set up that way to be. Also, I think lin/lamb work really well together, and we will see where this goes.

    • Lx

I hope they blowout the knicks and not make it a close game like the last one.

    • Guest

Don’t assaulting the whole group by saying “the mob mentality here is shameful”, when people just found agreement between themselves.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Reacting what’s going on is not negative.

    • orLinaryjoe

Lin’s got the green light. Too bad these lights are the fastest changing lights out there. They minus well be flashing red. At most, flashing yellow.

    • TTNN

    • orLinaryjoe

      Yes, cap > mop

    • CJSHYY

Maybe to the team-NYK but not MAG & fans.

    • joyce ward

I am calling it right now and not throwing shade, Charlotte’s giving Batum the keys to the city only for him to spit in Charlotte’s face to sign with the Raptors.

    • orLinaryjoe

Yes, joy for lin is joy for us as well.

    • CJSHYY

      It’s funny.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

You’re probably right. But by the time that happens, Lin will have “wasted” another year of the prime of his career. Hornets may be able to keep Batum but it’s going to cost them.

    • sws94

Lin has sat when he had a big salary too with Houston and LA. Always looking for some reasons that people are behind things is not useful. There are very clear basketball reasons why things aren’t the way we want. And they may or may not change to how we want them. But this stuff about other players and contracts is all factors being blown up here without looking enough at the basketball factors and this coach’s tendencies. Kaminsky and Daniels don’t play enough either in my opinion and Hansbrough barely plays.

    • sws94

All I said is Lin should take MJ’s words as motivation. That’s something he can do. And I’ve said he can do that with the minutes he’s getting.

    • sws94

Second half is not repeat the same. Second half has been where if Lin’s unit plays well, he plays more. And he closes most of the close games. Only one close game did he not close.

    • sws94

Al seems to be phasing out in terms of a role. Walker is a keystone player and Batum has been on a great stretch. Lin is a lot more difficult to work in due to his tendencies but as big a player as anyone in some of the team’s wins.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Definition of inconsistent, you wrote:

….plays well, he plays more. And he closes most of the close games.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

When you know his words don’t match with the actions of his people, motivation becomes disappointed.

    • joyce ward

I really feel like lin will be ok. I think he likes the coaches and teammates in Charlotte. I think Clifford had some specifics what he wanted to with lin, but when they signed Lamb, clifford is in the process of re-figuring things out where lin is concerned.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Very well, use his pass nightmare to justify his present one.

    • sws94

Everything makes sense. Batum and Kemba are his high-minute players. Everyone else is rotational and guys like Lin, Lamb, Williams, Zeller and Hawes are key guys that are used situationally but come in around the same time during times in the games. PJ starts the game and 3Q as a defensive guy. The are groups of guys he is still analyzing and he’s tried to get Lin and Kemba time on court but if the opponents were scoring more and Lin wasn’t doing much, what’s the point of having Lin in there? If Lin is most effective with Cody and Lamb, that’s who he plays most with.

At the end of the game, he needs defense and playmaking ability and looks at intangibles of who is likely to give the big play. If it isn’t so close he may go more with jump shooting to try to get back in the game.

Al is being transitioned from being the go-to guy that slows down the offense to expanding his game to only being that sometimes but passing to cutters as we’ve seen with Kemba, Lamb and Lin.

He still is evaulating who works best on the court with each other.

And starters aren’t playing the same game as last year. Reading Hornets Planet the guys that have been watching the team say the ball movement is much more this year and the team is much more fun to watch. They also think that ALL three major acquisitions, Lamb, Batum and Lin are positive to the team.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Correct me if I am wrong, the only time Lin praised Clifford since he closed the game to come back to beat the Knicks and Kemba was benched?

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I would like to believe the rosy narratives of LAJane and Acbc. The problem is that if what you guys are saying were accurate, then Lin would be the first to buy in and be content with the coach and the overall situation. But judging from his interviews, tweets, play on court, and shrinking minutes, JLin is clearly not happy.

The only ways I can see following this season and trying to remain optimistic are:

      1) Hope Lin plays great in whatever minutes he gets. He can help this team make the playoffs at which point the Hornets will need all the help they can get to advance. JLin may then have a great opportunity to shine on a big stage.

      2) Things can change in an instant. There can be trades, injuries of varying severity, etc. Lin may even get a start against the Knicks tomorrow due to 3 minor injuries? And Lin will keep improving his chemistry with all of the bigs, etc.

    • sws94

If you don’t look at the whole team you don’t look at the variables that cause many more guys on the team than Lin to have variations in their minutes. You have to look at the whole team, not just Lin. LIn is attached to a unit, how that unit performs or how he directs it, since he leads it, determines his 2nd half play more than the first half where Clifford is no limiting him to 6-8 minutes. He doesn’t have that same limitation in the 2nd half.

    • sws94

Lamb and Lin have different strengths and Lamb and Lin are a combination that plays well together. I think it boils down to Kemba and Lin not playing great together but Lin is too valuable in the closing minutes not to play in close games.

Silas is a big supporter of Lin, I don’t know about the other assistant coaches. Clifford is looking at Lin in combination with others and seems to be going with that.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I hope so too. I just wish the coach would remind Batum and Kemba to pass to Lin sometimes and not just when the shot clock is about to expire!

    • sws94

Kemba more. Batum is beginning to figure things out but sometimes he just won’t pass on the side of the court where Lin is. Kemba really needs to integrate better with Lin.

    • CJSHYY

I don’t think he’s happy either who will w shorter & shorter playing time. Never mind about plays his game… he can’t even be a PG most of the time. That’s not what he came here for… smh! But thing can change within 1 day… I hope he has a great game tomorrow in MSG.

    • sws94

It is not the impression that Lin was unhappy by people that were very close to the action in the game last night.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Batum seems to know exactly where Lin is when there is 1 second left on the clock. Even Lin was surprised.

    • sws94

      Very possible.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

I’m Lin fan first not the Hornets. I don’t care what this team can do before Lin can get a fair chance and the promised he’d get if he accepted a big pay cut to play for the Hornets.

Depending on the mood of the coach, Lin norm min is from 6 to 8 in the 1st half and the same in the 2nd half. If Cliff is in desperate needs he play Lin an additional 4 min to close game, that would max him 20 min game. SAD.

    • sws94

That was a bad play by Batum. He doesn’t do that regularly a la Harden.

    • KHuang

In the NBA, no fun = less production!

    • sws94

And Clifford is coaching the Hornets. I’m a Lin fan but aware that my priorities are not the Charotte Hornets priorities and I don’t for one minute expect the Hornets to cater to Lin. That’s being realistic.

If you continue to think that the only thing that matters is a certain amount of minutes you may be in for nothing but disappointment. The cards are dealt for now and the way to move forward is to say what can Lin do more to help himself? That’s by helping his team. And that’s by playing with continued authority and making it hard for Charlotte not to play him. And Charlotte has already showed that when he has an impact, especially in the 2nd half, he plays.

    • sws94

There is no rosy narrative. There are people looking at all the factors that go into how Lin is placed and seeing it from that perspective.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

There are 2 different kinds of Lin fans here, one knew what Lin can do as a basketball player and asked team for the opportunity to max that. The other would just be happy if Lin is just a simple good anticipated player.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

We’ve seen Lin at incredible highs and then mostly at terrible lows. He wears his emotions on his sleeve. He is not happy but don’t expect him to go around sulking all the time. He has to make the best of it. And he will.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Ok, Lin will be a good anticipated player.

You’re asking Lin fans to be happy with the new reality then you’re in the wrong place. The cards are dealt? You’re no Lin fan and you’re aware nothing about what he’s trying to deal with.

Minutes are everything in basketball. Without it you’re nothing.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

He’s still trying daily hard to make the best of it because of the survival in the NBA instead of 100% for his team great season success.

    • KHuang

Minutes are KEY in the NBA.

      No minutes, no career.

    • sws94

I’m not in any wrong place. It’s a Lin fan place, one that encourages being positive, and I’m hear supporting him. Sorry if I’m not saying what you want to hear. But, there are different perspectives on what is best for Lin. Lin chose Charlotte, these are the parameters he can play in, and he has shown he can produce in those parameters.

    • sws94

He’s averaging 22. That’s the reality. He’ll produce for now in those minutes or not. We can talk until blue in the face but if that’s what he’ll get until 20 games, that’s what it’ll be. And that’s what he has to work with. After that is anyone’s guess.

    • KHuang

I’m the fan that is happy if Lin is “just a simple good player”.

I don’t hold Lin to a higher standard than I do to nonAsian players.

Lin is the best bargain performer in the NBA – and most of the time, he’s one of the best performers in the NBA period!

    • KHuang

Lin’s the ONLY player in the NBA who doesn’t need starter minutes or even starter touches to put up starter production.

Coaches get spoiled with him, thinking that if he puts up typical bench numbers like he did last game that Lin is “not playing well enough”.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Have your opinion but stop making up thing and convincing us that what’s going on now is great for Lin Career. You need to pay more attention to what’s going on with how they treated Lin as the 9th option off the bench than the whole kumbaya team first baloney.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

The rosy narrative is that Cliff wants to bring back Linsanity but he has to do it slowly and carefully (see posts by LAJane and Acbc). You belong to an “interesting” group of posters best exemplified by MbSurf. You tend to be Asians that refuse to see any mistreatment or unfairness when it comes to Lin. Your group falls on the exact, extreme opposite side of the spectrum from the “KHuang” group. I avoid trying to persuade either extreme of the spectrum. But sometimes I comment when either side says something totally false.

    • sws94

Lin is a feared player. Lin went Linsanity mode on the Knicks last week. Derek Fisher is going to try to contain Lin this week. He knows first-hand what Lin can do when he gets going. So, he’ll have a plan to prevent it as much as possible.

I don’t know how effective it will be but Lin may have to do some things differently. I hope Lin and Clifford are prepared for that tomorrow.

    • sws94

      Yes.

    • adele

      Thank you Khuang.

    • KHuang

You’re not entirely right about me.

I’ve been COMPLETELY HAPPY with how Lin’s been used in Charlotte this season.

There is not a single game where I’m unhappy with how Lin was used, including last game.

I see zero evidence of racism in Steve Clifford’s deployment of Lin.

Now when it comes to race, I strongly believe that NO TEAM will want Lin next year for any price because Lin is Asian. I anticipate Lin to exercise his player option for $2 million to play one more year with Charlotte. It doesn’t matter how much Lin produces, nobody wants him because of his race.

After next season, Lin might not even be in the NBA anymore – and I’ll stop being a NBA fan entirely if Lin is race ejected.

    • sws94

I didn’t say anything was great for him. I go with analysis based on what I see on the court.

I think your frustrations are well understood but going against me because I’m being more analytical and matter of fact is against the spirit of this group. We ARE on the same side. But I think we are stuck if we can’t accept the realities that exist right now and how Lin has to deal within that context. No amount of putting down the coach and thinking the FO or anyone else or any player is holding Lin back will bring what we want to see from Lin.

The minutes talk is just beating a dead horse now. If it isn’t going to change then let’s move from that and just see what he can do. He’s in Charlotte for now and I hope things improve and expand for him.

    • adele

No minutes no production. You’re not in the game. You sit in the bench. We all know how he produce if given those minutes. People may analyze his game all they want but if you are not playing out there, your production is zero.

    • KHuang

Actually, the only player that can contain Lin is SPENCER HAWES.

Kemba Walker does a decent job of containing Lin as well too, but not as good as Hawes.

    • heart

This is all conjecture on your part, please… face reality!

    • KHuang

Lin having a positive attitude is not the same as Lin being happy.

    • sws94

I really wish he wasn’t in Lin’s unit. Kaminsky has holes in his game but he doesn’t sabatoge like Hawes does.

    • KHuang

Spencer Hawes is so bad, he doesn’t even deserve to be in the rotation at all.

Both Kaminsky and Hansbrough – especially Hansbrough – are far more deserving of minutes than Spencer Hawes is.

If Clifford were a better coach, he’d DNP CD Hawes the way Doc Rivers did in LAC.

    • sws94

No conjecture at all. Everything I said in that post is real.

    • sws94

He’s cringeworthy a lot of the time.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

      KHuang, you are unique.

    • KHuang

      ALL the time.

Lin is struggling from having to carry Hawes every game.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Simple good player has so many meaning depend on whom you ask. Players don’t set standard on themselves, only fans and FO do. Standards are all over the place.

    • sws94

No argument. He does have a nice pass everyone so often. But maybe that’s an accident.

    • “Can we see your hair?” lol
      Kids ask the best questions.

    • KHuang

Put it this way – there isn’t a Charlotte Hornet on the roster that could not make the passes that Lin opens up for players to make.

    • KHuang

Lin is a “guard” capable of playing either guard position at an All Star level, Lamb is a pure SG who’s not consistently good enough on defense yet.

Lin THINKS of himself as a PG, but he’s every bit as effective as a SG.

    • Linzen

      hahaha true. Sad, but true.

    • KHuang

For me, “simple good player” for a $2 million player is averaging about 4 points and 2 assists for the season.

Lin’s way past that, so he’s WAY OUTPERFORMING his contract all season long.

    • KHuang

That’s because I’m ACCURATE in my basketball analysis.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin is a clean but fearless player. You don’t keep going to the basket with your bleeding nose if you’re a feared player. You bought into Cliff taken him out for that nonsense reason. Coach should address his teammates to move to a clear passing position every time Lin got half court pressure defense.

    • sws94

Not Linsanity I think. Lin is the next wave of attack and in his own unit but also can be a force with Kemba and Batum. But Batum is the favorite for Cliff.

I appreciate your approach and contributions.

    • heart

The most glaring sentence sums up the 3 paragraphs above of your conjecture. This is your own quote (sws94): “You don’t even need the minutes.”

Can’t take your opinion seriously any more!

    • adele

You might be right in your conjecture Khuang.

    • KHuang

At least Lin’s not CRASHING out there the way Kemba Walker or Nicholas Batum is out there when handed excessive minutes.

    • sws94

      Not one.

    • sws94

Read again. Feared. Feared by opponents.

    • KHuang

Well, moving properly off the ball is IMPOSSIBLE for early entry draftees like Hawes and Zeller and Jefferson who came into the NBA not having played enough college and thus never learned proper fundamentals.

No amount of coaching from Clifford can repair that.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

Lin took paid cut so he can be with a team he thought what he could be. Everyone knew he’s not worth $2 mil.

    • KHuang

Kemba Walker’s ability to contain Lin by not passing to Lin is about as effective as Kemba Walker’s defense on other players – SHODDY.

Lin still GETS HIS with Walker beside him.

    • sws94

They do actually. They just become ineffective. Both could use less playing time. I think that will be the case in the course of the season.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

There are more than 2 types of Lin fans 🙂 But there is a group that cannot tolerate the possibility Lin is being discriminated against. The thing is, a lot of the discrimination is not due to being Asian. Some of it is due to being a Harvard nerd. And the two together is really problematic for the NBA. If Lin were just an Asian jock from a Division I college, I don’t think there would be so much hate.

    • sws94

I like Kemba but he is not an extremely aware player. He has some limited talents and he’s a great cheerleader and good guy. But as a teammate on the court, he’s not great for Lin.

    • takemeback2reaganyears

      Ok I stand corrected.

    • KHuang

Actually, “everybody” in the NBA thinks Lin’s not good enough to be even worth the veteran’s minimum.

Charlotte is the only team that could “see past” Lin’s race enough to offer Lin A contract.

This contract is likely Lin’s last in the NBA, no matter how well Lin plays.

    • KHuang

Lin gets loaded up on so much when Walker’s out there, Walker HAS TO SHOOT.

Opponents are content with encouraging Kemba Walker to brick shots selfishly like he historically has.

    • sws94

KHuang. What’s your rundown on Lin’s unit. Is Zeller any use in PnR? What should Hawes do to not get in everyone’s way? More Lin/Lamb lobs coming? Is Williams a good guy for Lin to have in his unit? Does Batum get in the way when in Lin’s unit? Would Daniels help at strategic times?

    • KHuang

Discrimination is discrimination – and Lin faces tons of it regardless of the reason.

The cause is less important than the effect.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

There are numerous occasions when you are dead wrong.

    • kjch

      *grab popcorn

    • KHuang

Oh, I’ll openly admit it straight up when I am wrong.

See, I’m man enough to recognize that NOBODY IS PERFECT.

That’s the difference between me and you.

    • sws94

One of the reasons Kemba can get where he wants to go is he faces mostly one defender and lighter traps. Lin has to fight through sometimes what the opponents best defenders have to give him. Kemba’s shot is off 4 out of 5 games.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

He was afraid to “draw on me” 😉

    • sws94

      Asian IMO.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I also admit when I’m wrong.

    • golfhacker

Even under the premise that there is a big man standing guard protecting the basket, I’ll relent and say he shouldn’t take floaters all the time, but I’m trying to think of each success ratio.

      1. What % of CONTESTED layups, with contact, do you think he can make? (My guess is 30%).

      2. What % of free throws will he make? (I’ll say 80% here).

      3. What % of floaters can he make (with practice)? (I’ll say 60%).

To me,when done properly, a floater is shot in space, 8-10 feet from the hoop and the shot is let go before the defender is close enough to block it, let alone run into you. So for all intents and purposes, an open shot. If you’re an NBA guard and can’t make an open 8-10 footer AT LEAST 60% of the time, you don’t belong in the NBA.

For example, say Jeremy has 10 opportunities of either (#’s 1 and 2) or #3, here’s how it plays out:

      Goes for the CONTESTED layup:
3 out of 10 made – six points.

ASSUMING he gets a foul call on each of those 10 attempts, he will get three “and-1” chances and seven 2-FT chances.
Making 80% of the three “and-1” chances is 2.4 points and making 80% of the seven 2-FT chances is 11.2 points for 13.6 points.

Under this scenario, he will total 19.6 points.

      Goes for the floater:
      6 out of 10 made – 12 points.

With these assumptions, it does “pay” to have Jeremy drive to the basket. However, it is a HUGE assumption that he will get a foul called against him EVERY time. Plus, that’s not even considering the risk of his shot getting blocked or getting a turnover (resulting in no foul calls at all). If he gets a foul call 5 out of 10 times (probably more realistic considering the officiating), then he will total 12.8 points, marginally better than going for the floater all 10 times.

I just see him taking too many contested layups, leaving it up to the refs to make the call and not taking enough floaters/pull-ups. He needs to diversify his arsenal and not be two-dimensional (attack the rim or 3-point attempt).

    • sws94

If you don’t think Lin can produce in 21 vs. 27 minutes you are wrong. He has. In the Knick game, his most Linsanity like game, he got 21 minutes. He averages 22.

    • grover chang

Very true, that is what happened last season with the Lakers. Once Lin accepted the situation for what it was he played at an All-star level. I hope he does not have to wait until the all star break to realize the same thing this year.

    • KHuang

      I’ll happily answer this.

I believe that the 2nd unit is 100% “Lin’s unit”.

He has a total green light from both coaches and players. Lin is trusted and respected and allowed to run plays.

However, Lin’s big men STINK. Zeller is barely tolerable, as he will move off the ball even though he can’t score and can’t dribble. Hawes is TERRIBLE, he doesn’t even deserve to be on the court. Kaminsky is inexplicably bricking every easy shot that he’s more than capable of making, and Kaminsky could be having a breakout game anytime. Hansbrough is the best big man on the team, but he doesn’t play.

Williams is a decent player to have in the 2nd unit. And I have no problems with Batum hogging the ball, as that actually takes pressure off Lin.

      Key to improvement:
Frank the Tank, HIT YOUR UNGUARDED SHOTS so that you can take minutes away from Hawes!!!!

Would Daniels help? Overall, probably a tiny bit. Daniels spaces the court well and hits outside shots, but his defense is weak and he’s unable to play good team D because he lacks athleticism. Most of the time Lin’s elite athleticism on defense can somewhat offset that, especially in the low minutes Daniels plays.

I should also add that I’m not really concerned with whether Lin gets pick and rolls or not. What I’m more concerned about is Lin’s bench teammates being able to successfully run Clifford’s motion scheme that loosens up the court and gets guys open. Zeller has improved at running that stuff with Lin, Hawes is totally incapable and is seemingly getting worse every game.

      NO YOU DON’T.

You’re wrong about me right now.

    • KHuang

Why would I draw on an UNARMED man?

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

That’s true but you only complain about racism against Asians when it comes to Lin.

    • Al

Lin needs to improve his shooting. He has practiced a lot in the off season but the results could be much better in games. If he made 5 of 9 field goals yesterday, our discussion will entirely different.

    • KHuang

When Lin is hitting (which is 90% of his games), NOBODY can stop him.

Even double and triple teams don’t work.

    • KHuang

There have been a few games where Lin HASN’T PLAYED GOOD ENOUGH to protect the team when Batum and Walker needed to sit.

      Stop LYING, Jeremiah the Grey.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

How do you think I became “the Grey?” I had to be reincarnated because I made a false prediction. ( I was influenced by wishful thinking.)
I said nothing about you that is wrong.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

      I’m armed alright.

      TROLL FLAGGED.

STOP LYING about my posts, Jeremiah THE FALSE.

    • sws94

Thanks. Hope after 20 games Hawes sits. Or at least plays minimal. I thought to use him for spot shooting but he takes too long to release the ball. He gets in the way just being on the court.

Lamb is Lin’s best target. Can jump and cut, can shoot, and as long as he doesn’t try to handle the ball too much, occasionally can drive and score or dish. But he has to limit that. Bad D though, he’s’ got long arms but he’s not good at defense. Wiliams is, that’s one of the reasons why I like him and he has more basketball IQ than most of the others Lin is on the floor with.

Batum can also receive lobs. I think Batum and Lin can develop chemistry if Batum realizes that he’s on Lin’s unit and not the other way round.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

      Lol. answer the question.

    • KHuang

You wanna troll fight me, but you are IN OVER YOUR HEAD.

    • sws94

He has. It’s just he’s in a slump. But a good shooting streak is coming. And when it is 3s, the big-scoring game is coming.

    • Steppen03

Pelicans, if you’re reading this: Make a trade for Lin (send Holiday to the Hornets). Davis needs his help ASAP. Your winning season is on the line.

    • heart

You are not facing reality for sure. You’re just putting words in my mouth. This is your inference and your own quote pertaining to Lin: “You don’t even need the minutes.” This is NOT true and you know it. All players want and need minutes. And yes Lin needs minutes as well, even though he had proven many times that he can be produce more in less minutes.

Here’s the reality of what we have seen Cliff done so far: Cliff is still jerking Lin minutes/roles constantly since the beginning of the season. Cliff is cutting Lin’s minutes in favor of other players. It’s NOT dependent on how well or how poorly Lin plays. Lin’s playing time is dependent on the other players play and Cliff’s desperate needs to win! Sounds familiar pattern (McHale/BS).

I give Cliff this One credit that he has not badmouthing Lin so far.

    • Steppen03

LA – if you’re reading this: Make a trade for Lin right now (OH, the other club, CP3 can’t do it alone). Your championship hope IS ON THE LINE.

    • KHuang

      Hawes will not sit.

Clifford values size above all other measures of production, and Hawes has plenty of that. So Hawes will play whether he produces or not. Same with Hairston.

      That’s Clifford’s sole flaw.

    • golfhacker

Easy to say….Holiday is making $10.6 million this year (gasp), $11.3 next year. Pretty sure no way CHA gonna take that contract.

    • KHuang

      NOOOO!

No Lin with the selfish and fundamentally unsound Anthony Davis!

    • kjch

      Lin needs Drummond~~~

    • Lx

LOL “Hawes is terrible, he doesn’t even deserve to be on the court.”

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Lin doesn’t need teammates or minutes. He will get HIS from turnovers, rebounds fast-breaks. -KHuang

    • KHuang

      Why is that “funny”

    • Lx

      Because its true.

    • KHuang

      LOL indeed!

    • golfhacker

Also think being undrafted plays a role. Many people wouldn’t be able to accept that someone who was undrafted is better than someone who was drafted. It also makes all the teams’ scouting dept look bad.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

True but he probably wasn’t drafted because he was an Asian who played college ball at Harvard.

    • Chopz

He’ll still be in the nba. Ain’t nobody pushing our boy out. Remember that, take a note, write it down, or carve it in stone, i don’t care.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

KHuang already predicted that Lin would be out of the NBA before this season. So no need to take his hysteria seriously.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I’ve thought a lot about why Lin is always kept down in the NBA. I tried to understand how it could be that virtually all sportswriters underrate him and overlook his unfair treatment. I’ve come to the conclusion that it has to be a vicious mix of racism and jealousy. The racism is obvious when we hear a guy like Dominique Wilkins constantly criticize Lin during a Hawks game. The jealousy comes from sportswriters who probably never excelled at anything in their lives. They were never outstanding in either sports or academics; they’re quite mediocre. So when they see a guy like Lin who graduated from Harvard and plays in the NBA, they just can’t accept it. Add to that the Linsanity phenomenon and Lin’s Christlike attributes and the result is just a perfect storm of hate (and love).

    • sws94

If you don’t like Clifford you don’t like him. Lin is playing 21 minutes on average. He’s done awesome things in 21 minutes. I’d like him to have more, it doesn’t look that way. But you aren’t being realistic if you haven’t seen Clifford trust and go to Lin to close games. Closing games means that your the guys you think that can help you win the game most are on the court. Lin closes for Cliff like he did last night. Even after bad stretches on the floor which Lin had in the 2nd half of last night’s game.

Cliff’s only job is not to provide minutes for Lin and frankly, that’s all you talk about. As if Lin was the only one on the team.

    • GoodDayLA

Not quite. They realize lin got racially shortchanged when he came into the league. They wont even admit that but everyone agrees with that.

But they feel lin is a luke ridnour, kirk heinrich, ramon session, or steve blake who is now unreasobaly treated like a kyrie because he was unfairly marginalized.

So these guys hate the fact a steve blake is now getting cp3 comparisons all because he was marginalized.

They feel linsanilty fame and money more than made up for it, esp. When compared to the plight and hardcore racism african americans had to overcome.

    • blubell

Jeremy did say he likes kids because they’re so honest 🙂

    • Spot

At the moment, Charlotte is a total mess:

They’re trying to keep their 2 expiring contract (Batum and Jefferson) by making them do whatever they want. But in this way their numbers increase and they will ask more money or switch team.

They are tying a team to Kemba Walker who is not a star at all. Kaminsky is 9th pick at the draft and he doesn’t play at all.

They are wasting so much talent in this roster who can’t grow up if don’t play regular minutes or against tougher opponents. Apart Jeremy, players like Lamb, Kaminsky, Zeller, Daniels are gems drafted or stolen from other teams.

KHuang was saying why Kaminsky can’t hit shot? Simple: Kaminsky can’t miss. Batum and Jefferson and Kemba can. So if you don’t feel the trust of your coach you can never hit big shots. That’s the problem. Starters are starters. The rest stay on the bench. That’s why this team is underachieving and is a awful to watch, pretending to have motion system which reverts to an ISO system.

    • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Lin “is now unreasobaly treated like a kyrie…. is now getting cp3 comparisons”

That may have happened during Linsanity but that never happens now. I remember one sportswriter saying in his article, “Lin is a backup PG in the NBA. That’s pretty good for a Harvard graduate. Why can’t his fans be satisfied with that?”

    • LAJane

Don’t get carried away, dude. Never said, and never would say, that Clifford wants to bring back Linsanity. My point of view is that it’s just too early for the doomsday scenarios that get spun. Reminds me of the stories from Russian Tsar Alexander the Great’s time, when torture was so common that some nobles even had clubs where they practiced torturing themselves so that IF that day came they’d hopefully be able to withstand it. Poke yourselves in the eye so that if Lin gets DNP-CD you just say “told you so” instead of having a heart attack. I’m not quite as rosy as you imagine.
