2015 Jeremy Lin Asia Tour

Golden State Warriors finally won 2015 NBA Championship with beautiful TeamBall style and more importantly a high-octane offense which is a signature of Mike D’Antoni system and the essence of Linsanity in NY. Alvin Gentry helped Steve Kerr to devise similar offensive system in GSW to MDA’s Phoenix Suns team. I predict this will bode well to teams copying the successful blueprint of GSW by recruiting Jeremy Lin in the Free Agency starting from July 1st.

But before then, Jeremy Lin will complete his 2015 Asia Tour before returning to the US on July 5

Here is the schedule – Credit to @melody

ESPN Interview after the game with DWade. Curry says he’s not the fastest guy but he learned to use deception to his advantage. DWade says my son wants to be like you, so I hired your trainer to train my son. Dwade says the stuff they do he’s not sure he can do it himself. Curry said, he works really hard with his trainer during the strike shorten season after his ankle injury to get where he is today.

  • real-dsb

as well as anyone who believes in hero ball, individual superstar iso ball

  • John Lee

J.R. thinks he deserves a bigger contract, the kind that people here would consider “ridiculous”.

  • John Lee

KI’s the bigger problem of the two. 🙂

  • John Lee

Many players cannot create their own shots, which is alright, because that’s why playmaking PGs exist. Problem with Cavs is that the “PG” doesn’t playmake, and the one who can (LBJ) is wearing more hats than he ideally should.

Thanks for the complete Asia itinerary

  • real-dsb

well, then he can go back to being another team’s trash

  • hey congrats on the 6-game prediction!

Since you’re on a streak, which team will make JLin a starting PG?

  • Maknusia

yeAH….I would like to hear that from our Nostre-real-dsb

  • real-dsb

It was far easier predicting Warriors in 6 than which team Lin will go to! =) There’s probably 28 teams that Lin could end up with (just not Rockets and Lakers) =p. Personally, I’m hoping Eastern Conf

shows how they’re a true team. such the opposite of most teams these days

  • real-dsb

I know some people aren’t Kerr fans because his previous comments as a commentator about Lin, but I am a Kerr fan (as a coach), and I believe that if Lin were on the Warriors, Kerr would have become a big Lin fan as well. These comments are about Barbosa, but I could easily see these applying to Lin

“Sure, he makes some mistakes, but the speed that he gives us — I mean, think about the
impact that he’s made this year,” Kerr said.
“The impact he’s made on this team is dramatic,” Kerr said. “It goes beyond just what he does on the floor … “Such a big part of this game is chemistry and unity and the energy that comes from the entire group. And that stuff factors in.”

“He has a way about him; as soon as he touches the ball, he’s activated and ready to go,” Curry
said. “He brings the energy, and when he’s able to produce and get to the basket and make plays, he has that flashiness about him … He makes the game fun and brings a natural spark for us.”

    http://www.mercurynews.com/tim-kawakami/ci_28318392/kawakami-kerrs-barbosa-obsession-one-warriors-head-scratcher

  • okayy 🙂 .. can you narrow down on at least 3 Eastern teams? (76ers, Pistons, Boston, etc.)

I know it’s not easy but I’m glad with this GSW win.
IMO it will increase JLin’s FA value

  • I love how of all GSW strengths, they singled out ‘chemistry’

The rest of NBA GMs will start talking about finding players in the FA who embody chemistry like our very own JLin

The loaded, deep, versatile Warriors are champions of the NBA, and their mark in history is set
    ..
And on top of all that was their biggest strength.

“Our chemistry,” Harrison Barnes said. “We stayed close through all the ups and downs all season. We sacrificed for each other. The skill level, the depth, that’s important. But our chemistry, that’s something I knew was special from the get go and it carried us.”

    http://blogs.mercurynews.com/thompson/2015/06/16/the-loaded-deep-versatile-warriors-are-champions-of-the-nba-and-their-mark-in-history-is-set/

  • It certainly sounds different than “Sometimes he plays for the other team”

But GSW won’t have enough PT for JLin although Jeremy would enjoy the chemistry.
    Decisions, decisions …
Could Lin come home to help make GSW a dynasty?

Jeremy or Jeremy’s friends, if you read this, please pray a LOT … :]

  • real-dsb

Yeah, obviously Lin would have to come off the bench behind Steph and Klay. But who knows, he could have been an x-factor and became starter (maybe even Finals MVP =) like Iggy when the Cavs shut down the perimeter for a couple games there.

  • real-dsb
  • real-dsb

Good sign for Lin in FA. More about ball movement and team ball, less about individual iso like Melo or Harden.

  • I hope JLin’s learning more about using deception and great footwork from the recent Nash’s workout.
Curry’s trainer won’t be a bad idea either

  • Jeremy is certainly capable of driving to the rim, hit big 3s and hit better FTs than Iggy although Iggy is better in shut-down defense

let’s hope JLin will make the best decision in July. I just want to cheer for Lin’s winning team after these tough 3 years :]

  • Spot

Steph is Steph. Jeremy is Jeremy. One is a shooter the other is more a facilitator. You can’t really compare them.

Steph uses his handles to shoot, Jeremy uses his handles to pass.

Both could be great but if I was Jeremy I wouldn’t go on a winning team: if they lose next year it’ll be his fault.

Hopefully he could find a team where he can start games and play his basketball.

  • Spot

Not the warriors, mr johnson. It was your hated coach Mike D’Antoni who did it.

  • Spot

David Lee will probably be traded. They still have Livingston. They already won the title.

I wouldn’t like Jeremy jump on the winners’ wagon…. Hopefully he will win a title with his own team

  • real-dsb

Extremely difficult to pick. The best fits are unfortunately in the Western Conf, but that is such a tough conference to play in. Better do the Lebron route and stick with Eastern Conf to pad stats =)

If I had to pick WC teams for Lin:
Mavs – if Ellis is gone
Den – assuming Lawson is gone
Spurs – can take reigns from aging Ginobili or Parker
GSW – Lin would have to come off the bench, but fits his teamball style.

EC, easier conference, but the teams are so bad. I don’t want Lin to go to a cellar team either. I don’t know, maybe:
Nets – if DWill is gone
Pacers – good team, smart coach

  • that’s a good point. I also don’t like the prospect of backup PG and be the scapegoat if they don’t win another ring.

A starting PG with heavy PnR in the East Coast team will give him a chance to be an All-Star by playing 34+min.
That’s a better route to demonstrate he can carry a franchise the way Nash did in the right system

  • JoeTeam

    ROTFL LOL!!

his speech was great … everyone is of the faith and they have chapel every game. JLin would really fit in the chemistry.

Yeah, he really needs to go to a team showcase what he can do…given proper role and minutes

  • JoeTeam

Season over, GSW won. SAS last year. Teamball over Big 3. Lin’s stock is up, high five!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Playing for the Knoenke family! Forget it. Take Denver out of the list. Perhaps the Sacramento Kings would be a good fit.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Saying what you want but his track record doesn’t really say much about him.
He got sympathy votes because of the owner Ranadive.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The top teams for Jeremy Lin is either Jazz or Kings. I believe Lin has the capacity to turn these two teams around.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I say GSW becomes the championship calibre team with its 2012 draft and their trade for Andre Iguodala.

  • guest

Shaun Livingston has been whining about how he outplayed Jeremy when he’s on the Rox yet he’s cut by the team. So, Jeremy shouldn’t join any team that Livingston is on.

  • KL

Jeremy was recovering from knee injury that training camp. Livingston had no basis to whine against Jeremy (if indeed he was whining). That said I think Livingston is a good player who shouldn’t have been cut by the Rockets.

  • orLinaryjoe

What if it happened again, lol.

  • Brent Yen

It takes time, a lot of it…

  • Brent Yen

Ha, I woke up and GSW is the champion. Congrat to them!

  • Brent Yen

I tend to think, no matter which team Lin goes to….he will do his best and the results will eventually follow.

  • Brent Yen

This is a joke, right? LOL

  • Brent Yen

I laugh when every time he tried to post Lin up and failed.

  • BobbyH

He will wake up when there are 1000 rumors coming up 😉

  • GoodDayLA

Lin’s stock is up? Is this fantasy or reality?

  • GoodDayLA

Lin needs to be a better open shooter and make even more uncontested shots or where his man is 2 feet off. If he can do that, he will be really ready.

  • Brent Yen

    Can be both 😛

  • CJSHYY

What? I thought Kerr said Thanks to MDA & Nash…. Magic hates MDA…?!

  • CJSHYY

If Lin really go to GSW then I think Livingston will be out.

  • CJSHYY

    Looks like he is. Great!

  • CJSHYY

Not sure Cav will keep him for a long team or not? I think he will take this chance to make more money.

  • I also like GKarl’s influence in the Kings in knowing how to use JLin well.
I don’t know much about Snyder with the Jazz. Jazz is a bit unknown quantity to me

  • yup, let’s hope & pray hard JLin will choose wisely.
There’ll be many tempting backup PG offers for sure but starting PG with lots of PT would be ideal at his peak age

  • he probably tried to meet JLin in Japan 🙂
    Doesn’t he live there?

  • Alain Gervais

cavs losing is the best thing to happen to kevin love

  • GoodDayLA

1 July Good TV Linsanity 2 — Redefining Success.

    Success should never be redefined.

  • GoodDayLA

Not really. Many think with Kyrie and Lebron it could have been enough. Personally I think Tristan Thompson is better than Kevin Love. Kevin Love looks like a backup big man to me.

  • Alain Gervais

well i said best thing for “kevin love” not the cavs

  • JoeTeam

why are you attacking me? Just because I disagreed with you?

  • JoeTeam

“There can be only one!” Highlander. 🙂

  • Brent Yen

    why?

  • Cookiemole

The problem with a rebuilding team is that it leaves him open to being Jordan clarksoned again–benched in favor of a younger player in the name of tanking and developing young talent. Teams that want to win now play their veterans, and at this point that is what Jeremy is.

  • wandertheglobe

Tell that to his boy, BS who said 3-point and PnR don’t win Championships.

  • Isn’t it the point of continuous improvement?

I’m sure LBJ is pondering the recipe of BB success after breaking all kinds of individual records but failed to hoist the trophy. With Lin, we know from previous testimony that his definition of success in life extends beyond the basketball court so it depends on the predefined criteria.

  • Brent Yen

He is pretty successful to me at least…lol

  • GoodDayLA

I know, I was just being tongue in cheek. I feel like Lin is going to say he no longer views being an All Star and big stats and starting as NBA success but rather the relationships, friendships, and individual improvement for himself and his team defining his NBA success and that he is no longer obssessed with personal achievement for vanity.

  • GoodDayLA

    haha

  • Rick Johnson
  • Brent Yen

That means a contract of 4-5 mils/yr if go with MAVs

  • Rick Johnson

If Ellis is gone the Mav’s will need more offense than what Beverley provides. On the Rocket’s Harden was the de facto PG and provided the scoring so Beverley just provided pesky defense and a few 3’s. I would think on the Mav’s depending on who is the SG would need a PG that is a better creator and more offense than what Beverley provides.

  • Brent Yen

I know, from the tweet, seems like that guy thinks they will go cheap with PG (no seeking stars) while focus ing on either PF or SG positions.

  • zxcvb
  • zxcvb

If they let him start and play his game…I’m all for it. It also makes him more tradeable in case things don’t work out for whatever reason.

  • zxcvb

Yeah, and I think he would have helped the Cavs. Irving is a negative, dead-weight at best. But Love’s outside shooting and fastbreak outlet passes could have helped them win.

But I give credit to GSW’s depth — Iggy was amazing and came out of nowhere to be a major offensive weapon. We knew he could defend, but his scoring punch and playmaking hasn’t been seen since his days in Philly!

  • zxcvb

Absolutely. Mo Williams actually played well this past season as a starter for Charlotte, but he’s 32 going on 33, so I think Lin would have the edge there. But I can see the Mavs trying to trade for Collison if the Kings trade for Lawson.

I forgot that Amare and Greg Smith are on the Mavs as well. They’re free agents, but they’ll be super cheap. I wouldn’t mind seeing Lin reunited with those guys either.

  • that has been his consistent message that he shared in the past 2-3 years, though.
How to balance his desire to be “the guy” with the calling to simply perform his best for God (even if the All-Star goal, championship is not guaranteed)

It really is life-long process to have that daily struggle so I’ll be interested to hear if Jeremy learned something new from his supposedly ‘worst experience’ in basketball last season.

As of now, as fans we see JLin’s NBA success is tied closely to the absence/presence of NBA superstar ballhogs plus their enablers LOL

    Melo/Harden/Kobe OUT = Linsanity

His non-NBA success is determined by how much positive impact he has with fans/charity plus # of haters/trolls he accumulates :]

  • by our standards yes :]
poor guy looked so tired in post-game and afterwards by saying “Cavs ran out of talent”

  • Brent Yen

Love has a very bad defense. I think the reason Cavs could keep up with GSW (in some games, other than LBJ factor) was because Irving and Love could not play.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

It’s really sad to know the fact. Hopefully MDA will find a “home” soon.

  • Rick Johnson
  • I like how Alvin Gentry is loyal to MDA to speak the truth.

The league is always a bit too late to react.
Wasn’t there a rumor one team will fire a coach soon? Maybe there are still openings for MDA this season

  • Both MDA and JLin need to find a home, hopefully it’ll be together

  • Rick Johnson

Also Irving should be moved to SG. They should have a playmaker like Lin at PG. What kind of PG is Irving when he has games with 0 assits?

  • GoodDayLA

I would be very happy if Lin was the last option and Dallas got “stuck” with him at PG. This would be a wonderful fit if Montae is gone.

Montae and Lin are a horrible fit. Lin needs a 2 guard who is a little bigger than him like Klay or Iman or Ray Allen or West Mathews and so on. And with teams who go small, Lin needs a smaller guard off the bench or another PG his size who can either play 1 or 2 with him like Phoenix does.

I suspect Lin will end up on a new team, somewhere he has not been yet. If it’s a team other than Dallas, Portland, Nets, or Sixers, I will be really surprised. I can see some inept sleeper team in the East pick him up or some desert teams in the West.

  • bolero

maybe NOP since Gentry will be there and for sure will be running Mike D’Antoni offense,,

  • bolero

oh yah . I saw the vid too..lol

  • Rick Johnson

That would be something to see JLin / Anthony Davis PnR.

  • John Lee

Mad class, that Alvin Gentry. BTW, nearly a decade late is more than “a bit”.
The shocking irony, is that Kerr was the GM responsible for disbanding the awesome 2007 Suns and breaking up the small ball by bringing Shaq in. Maybe he learned from his mistake?

  • John Lee

Just gotta watch out for butterfingers. 😉

  • John Lee

Irving is like a Monta who hogs even more.

  • It looks like George Karl wants Ty Lawson in SAC
Perhaps an opening for JLin in DEV

    https://twitter.com/basketballtalk/status/611318808096059393

    https://twitter.com/zukovka/status/611323041033900032

  • Acbc

That’s just bull, like Harden apologists. Lin did it with only Tyson to turn a bunch of second stringers including JR and Shumpert into viable options. None of these guys can create for themselves. LIN CAN AND DID! When I watched the last quarter of the last 2 games, the way the corner 3s were set up is exactly how MDA dis robed it on his utube video when he was with the Knicks. Lin ran it perfectly from the get go and found guys open.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I really don’t know what will be the best for JLin. Sometimes I wish this and that. When it happens, find that it isn’t the best. After living for over 50 years, I learn not to think what I feel is best but God’s plan is best. JLin will find his “home” soon. Maybe it will be with MDA.

  • Acbc

I love the fact that the series MVP went to a defensive player. Houston…we have a problem.

  • John Lee

At this point I’m not greedy and just ask that Jeremy doesn’t get the worst. He’s such a tough soul that he will make the best out of most situation except for the very putrid, which unfortunately was the Lakers’. So as long as it’s not a tanking team, and does not have an egomaniac ballhog, I can see myself get behind the idea. Heck, Knicks had Melo and Linsanity happened anyways, so who knows.

  • Rick Johnson

Or they might be trying to draft Emmanuel Mudiay at #6. Towns, Okafor, Porzingis, Russel, Winslow will probably go 1-5 leaving Mudiay at #6.

  • Rick Johnson

San Jose Mercury News: Summer Pro-Am basketball: Palo Alto High grad Lin penciled in to play for South Bay

    http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_28332845/summer-pro-am-basketball-palo-alto-high-grad

    POSTED: 06/17/2015 04:07:45 PM PDT0 COMMENTS| UPDATED: ABOUT 5 HOURS AGO

The Summer Pro-Am basketball men’s season is underway at Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco.

    The women’s season starts Saturday.

Many local players should see time on the floor, including Palo Alto High grad and Los Angeles Lakers guard Jeremy Lin, listed on the South Bay Spartans’ roster. Henry Caruso, a former Daily News Player of the Year out of Serra High in San Mateo, also is on the South Bay roster. Caruso plays basketball for Princeton University. Former Stanford guard Robbie Lemons is slated to play for Bay Pride.

Several current Stanford players are in the women’s Pro-Am, including Kaylee Johnson and Brittany McPhee, who toil for Mission Rec. Ct. Cardinal center Tess Picknell and incoming freshman Alexa Romano are on pace to play for San Francisco. Romano prepped at La Cueva High in Albuquerque, N.M.

Two highly touted Stanford recruits — Shannon Coffee and Marta Sniezek — are with Bay City. Coffee starred at Centerville High in Dayton, Ohio, while Sniezek arrives out of Cathedral High in Washington, D.C.

Several local players are on Palo Alto TnT, including Stanford’s Lili Thompson and Briana Roberson. Also playing for TnT is former Daily News Player of the Year Drew Edelman, a Menlo School-Atherton grad who plays for USC.

Former Menlo guard Lauren Lete (De Anza College-Cupertino) and Woodside grad Madison Michelis (De Anza College) are on the TnT roster. Sam Erisman, who will be a junior at Menlo School, and Megan Sparrow, a rising junior at Menlo-Atherton, should get some minutes for TnT. Ashlynn Docini of Menlo College is another local playing for TnT, as is Paige Vermeer, a Castilleja School in Palo Alto grad, who will play at Yale.

  • Rick Johnson

Spurs should sign JLin as a Parker replacement. He was looking pretty slow in the playoffs. Perhaps JLin would start season off the bench but I bet he would eventually start over Parker.

  • zxcvb

Nuggets are apparently having a tough time trading Lawson. He makes too much money for a 30yo PG who relies on his speed. I wouldn’t do it if I were the Kings. I’d much rather keep Collison (or get Lin) and draft Cauley-Stein or Hezonja.

  • zxcvb

I personally have my doubts. The Spurs’ lone “weakness” is their loyalty. No matter how poorly Parker or Mills are playing, Lin will never play over them unless they’re inactive with injury.

  • Rick Johnson

They are injured quite often. Parker played 68 out of 82 games last season a number that will probably continue to decline.

  • zxcvb

Yeah, that’s one rumor that hasn’t materialized. The draft is approaching very soon, so if someone fires their coach, it may be a team that is trading their pick (Brooklyn? Charlotte?).

From what I’ve read about Denver, Josh Kroenke may have overruled his father and GM Tim Connelly and hired Malone instead of MDA or Hunt. He wants to prove that he was right to fire Karl and bring in a young, grind-it-out defensive coach. It’s like Dolan in New York: daddy’s money and a chip on his shoulder.

  • Oh really? That’s such a shame. Ego will keep the Nuggets in bottom just like the Knicks then.

There’ve been some rumors Hornets will fire Steve Clifford, I can’t see Brooklyn firing Lionel Hollins that soon though.

Lin in Brooklyn might spice things up in NY if Deron gets traded. I just saw Billy King refused to buy out Deron’s final 2 year contract

  • or invite JLin for a workout.
I really want to know if George Karl will invite Lin or not

  • yes, that’s true. I don’t really want Lin going to DEN if MDA is not there.
The DEN mgmt is a bit toxic as @zxcvb:disqus shared

  • Amen .. It might not be MDA this year but I also believe Lin will surprise a lot of people next season. God’s timing will be perfect

  • I was wondering if LBJ might be thinking that 7 guys playing is too much too overcome but his other comment of being the best player in the world (although is true) is not conducive to instill confidence to his teammates

Asa you said, GSW high-octane offense was a real beauty too watch indeed, finding those shooters on the 3pt line was such a killer. Boom-boom-boom and it’s so demoralizing.

I really hope Lin gets to run such a system again soon *sigh*

  • linspiredinla

Just curious. Why JLin needs a workout in order to sign in FA? Aren’t only rookis need to do so and not vet???

  • JLin in Pacers as a better alternative than Earl Watson? Why not?

    Gotta love the last sentence:
Expect to hear quite a few teams interested in Lin, and for the Pacers to at least consider the possibility of signing him as well.

  • Brent Yen

Good that he thinks lin is fundamentally sound.

  • sometimes there are injuries, fitness test or familiarity with systems that coaches want to see from players so it’s a chance for both players and teams to interview each other

it makes sense that teams want to test their players before offering a multi-year contract

  • Thankfully, there have been more ‘nice’ articles lately praising Lin’s performance and abilities

  • but if there is mutual interest, JLin should visit the city which we can get news
phone interview would be hard to detect for sure

“the single most important aspect of coaching is, effectively: running (in) practices”. –speculative reformation of this quote for b. scott

  • 1mtoldman

david blatt is replaceable, lebron james is not. nobody buys david blatt merchandise. just like nobody buys byron scott merchandise.

only 2 maybe 3 players in the nba have that power: kobe, lebron, …i dont think melo has it anymore, especially with phil jackson actually more of a celebrity than melo.

rondo obviously couldn’t get away with it; that kind of behavior, now hes a pariah, and yet this is the type of thing many “lin fans” wanted lin to do.

only the sup sup sup superstars can do this. 1 or 2.

  • 1mtoldman

and again other reports keep insisting cousins is not being shopped; period. most reports. that they want to give it a year first with karl/cousins and see what they can put around him thru the draft and off season.

  • that’s the problem, really. Superstars getting coaches fired (Melo/Kobe) or alienated just because they can. They didn’t realize it destroyed the chemistry of the team, important for championship runs

Curry decided to work with Kerr although he didn’t like MJax getting fired.
Then his teammates followed the lead & they ended up winning the trophy.

And I’m still amazed that Iggy was willing to come off the bench when Kerr asked him, to make Barnes more effective. These things just don’t happen anymore. But it’s what makes the GSW story great!

If Lin was in Iggy’s place, I think Lin fans would lambast Kerr and Barnes =]

  • GoodDayLA

Lin’s focus is on the core and defensive lateral agility. At least that is what he shows us. Lin’s training focus the last 2 years has made him into one of the quickest offensive NBA guards so I approve. But I do wish his functional vertical was like 3-5 inches higher so he could get more elevation in traffic. And I personally believe greater leg strength (demonstrated through jumping) means even better first step and explosion and balance.

However, I am sure Lin considered focusing on increasing brute leg strength and core through heavy weights but I guess he feels the 2-3 inches of extra vertical by focusing on gaining more max strength in weights through squats and deadlifts and Olympic lifts is not worth it because he would lose speed and probably be too physically taxed trying to lift that heavy at the expense of his game.

Still if I was training Lin, my #1 focus would be to push him to get even better with his shot until he shot 90+% in practice unguarded. 78% is passable and all but Curry and Korver shoot 90%. I’m sure when Nash was on he shot close to 90% in practice too.

  • KHuang would’ve said if Lin took PEDs, he could’ve done the same

I do wonder how much it’s true that LeBron & DWade plus other stars took PEDs

I guess it’s getting harder to separate fantasy and reality :[

  • zxcvb

To pass the time, a potential Mavs rotation for ’15-’16:

    PG: Lin / Barea
SG: Danny Green / RJ Hunter (draft pick)
    SF: Parsons / Aminu
PF: Aminu / Dirk (6th man)
C: Deandre Jordan / [cheap veteran]

    – There have been whispers about a sign-and-trade involving Tyson and DJ if Jordan decides to leave…and it makes perfect sense. Tyson is a proven vet who makes FTs and still has 2 good years left. DJ has the elite athleticism and rim protection Dallas badly needs.

    – With SG being the weakest position in the NBA, Danny Green will surely command 8-10M per year. I think that’s too much for the Spurs who can keep Bellinelli for 4-6M per year.

    – At age 37, Dirk has already said he’s willing to be the 6th man. His defense is just too porous and they have to limit his minutes to keep him fresh for the playoffs.

  • real-dsb

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

How misguided was it to try and eliminate “Linsanity” from the lexicon? To replace Linsanity with what was it? JLin prime? That sounds like a cut of beef. Haven’t we had enough of Kobe beef? I tried to warn against such blasphemy but to no avail. Now repent and sin no more 🙂

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • We were offering alternatives since Jeremy himself didn’t like the ‘Linsanity’ word anymore :]
Someone should ask him in Asia, “What word do you like to replace Linsanity?” so we avoid any confusion

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Well since JLin’s testimony theme in Asia is Linsanity 2: Redefining Sucess, he must have approved this. Remember he said he didn’t want his family and friends to mention the term but he didn’t mind his fans and others to do so. My guess is he is using the term to bring out his own term on what Linsanity means to him as if now and not others expectation of Linsanity in NY.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

In the Pablo Torre piece, it was the writer who noticed that Lin never mentioned the word Linsanity during the long interview. As far as I am aware, Lin never said he didn’t want others to mention the term. That was a false assumption made by various posters on this site.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • zxcvb

Cuban won’t hesitate to offer a max contract if he wants him. Look what they paid Parsons! Dirk taking a paycut was also an important move. I suspect Lin would sign cheaply (4-6M per) if the team/coach offers him a starting job.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

As I tried to explain at the time that Pablo Torre’s article appeared, Lin was at a low point and avoided mentioning the L word himself. That doesn’t mean he wanted all of his fans to stop using the word and hoping for the return of Linsanity. Now that he has titled his talk and this latest video Linsanity 2.0., he clearly has no intention of replacing the term that he copyrighted, that he used to name his documentary, and that has so much meaning for all of his fans.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

You miss a crucial point. Blatt is replaceable. But a team needs a coach. Any coach. Lebron’s arrogant interference prevented the coach from preforming his job properly. Lebron should try being a player-coach and see how well that works out. How great was MJ as a (player)-coach? This revelation combined with the I’m the greatest player on the planet comment reminds me why these finals were so conflicting for me. I wanted Kerr to lose but I also wanted Lebron to lose

Yup…he has good vision and timing on blocking those kinda shots at rim…sports writers had failed to bring it up…

As I mentioned previously, I’m Pretty sure majority of them do take some PEDs on and off, else they wont be able to recover and meet the stringent requirement of hitting the weights and basket.

  • Great background music and editing. Nice to see JLin working hard.

  • Rick Johnson

Is that a mirror on the right or some photo effect?

  • sport

You’re crazy! Lin should be making more than 8M per year for his next contract! If a team truly wants him they will offer him the most money!

  • GoodDayLA

Not sure how good he is as a trainer, but for some reason, I like the fact Lin never dumped this guy and they stuck by each other.

People think there are secret tricks to training but there are not. 95% of it is just Lin working his tail off and working on the right things. Weight lifting is an essential part of sports training. I remember when many Lin fans wondered why he was even lifting. I can only pull a Joyce Warde and SMH.

Anyone who is bad at a sports they want to be good at these days are just lazy plain and simple. Youtube and the internet have everything you need. I see so many young kids today who are so lazy and expect to be sports stars and don’t even want to do a push up or work on the basics and wonder why they get pushed around like a piñata on the court and shoot air balls.

I’m seeing a lot more Asian dads taking their young sons to the courts these days in California but these dads are usually very clueless about what their young sons need to do to train for basketball. I see what they are doing and just cringe inside but I guess at least there is father son bonding going on.

Guys like Lin showed special skills all on his own so talent just rises above all odds if you have it.

  • GoodDayLA

I am sure NBA players are taking PED. Of course not all but would not be surprised if at least 25% of them are. There are also legal supplements I’m sure many take as well. Just recovering probably means even Lin takes creatine type stuff at a minimum.

  • GoodDayLA

A smart GM/Coach will take advantage of Lin and use him unceremoniously to try and win an NBA title or repeat for another.

He’ll never get the kudos for acknowledgement we want that he got during Linsanity but he will do damage and I believe he will allow himself to go to a team that will allow him to do damage even if only off the freaking bench.

Lin’s salvation might not be fame, glory, or acknowledgment for being a super great player, but he can punish the other teams in the NBA for pretending he is some scrub.

I hope that’s his story this season

  • kittyhead

No way DJ will leave LA to Dallas…LA could offer him 5-year max money and that’s LA. Besides, Mavs wont have any chance to get a ring for several yrs, for Dirk is really old and their cornerstone is CP.

  • Tey Ling

There is an English version in the other site, Jeremy Lin #7. Any further info on Lin’s itinerary in Chengdu?.

  • 1mtoldman

eric gordon just “opted in” on a contract with the pelicans next year for 15.5 million; his per 36 last year: 15/4 lins 16/6.

it will be interesting to see the dynamics of the “cap expansion” in 2016 and possible entirely new cba in 2017 on contract f.a. negotiations this year.

the initial tendency seems to be for players to not push for long term contracts, waiting for the new big money to come in next year.

  • Maknusia

    25%…. ;;) dont think so…

  • guest

yeah, many crazy self-depreciating fans “proudly” predicting Jeremy will get anything less than decent, i.e. < 8 mil.
just look around, Jeremy chalked up more than decent and better than many other players stats, so if the team really wants him, at least 10m per year is expected.

  • linspiredinla

If team offers him starting job, it stands to reason that it’d be for more than that, or they would not make the offer. Such disrespect!

Jeremy Lin news: Makes Forbes’ Top 100 Highest Paid Athletes 2015

In his final year, Lin reeled in $14, 898,938 million from the Lakers. That plus $4 million endorsement deals with Adidas and Tag Heuer totaled close to $18.9 million for the first Asian-American to play in the NBA.

With that total, Lin was ranked 97th in the Forbest’ list of top 100 highest paid athletes for 2015. He is tied with baseball player Max Scherzer and Maurice Pouncey (football).

The word out the past days that two teams were keenly interested in the Harvard standout, teams in need of a point guard.

The Dallas Mavericks are said to be interested in Lin, especially if Monta Ellis opt out of his contract. Another Mavs guard, Rajon Rondo is not expected to return which opens up a possible slot for Lin.

Another possible destination was the Denver Nuggets. That would however depend on the fate of Ty Lawson and the decision of new head coach Michael Malone.

The initial belief was had Mike D’ Antoni been chosen as the new head coach, Lin would have been a cinch to make the lineup, a reunion of sorts since both were together with the New York Knicks before.

The coach is Lin’s believer; Lowry is injury prone. GM is smart. The city is nice and cultured. Seems ideal to me.

    Chicago Sun- Time

    WHAT’S COMING BACK

Rose – The often-injured guard’s 20.3 points and 6.5 assists throughout the playoffs were good to see, but at $20-million plus a year, and the fragility, he’s more payroll headache than elite guard at this point.

    WHAT’S OUT THERE

Guards will be on the move this summer, without question. From the likes of Rajon Rondo and Jeremy Lin, to two guards like Louis Williams and Wesley Matthews. What is financially realistic for the Bulls, however? Lin would be interesting in Hoiberg’s offense, but is nowhere close to the $14-plus million he made last season. Think veteran like a Rodney Stuckey, who can do a little bit of everything in the backcourt.

It’s funny to hear LBJ talk about how he’s the best player in the world. Why then did he lose so many finals? It’s the same old tired “superstar”, me first thinking that takes all the glory while blaming everyone one else for his failures.

Why then did Kerr single covered LBJ? Why did they doubled Curry? The same reason they doubled Lin whenever great coaches set defences against them. THEY ARE THE DRIVERS OF THE TEAM. LBJ may be the biggest and baddest engine on the planet, but until he lets someone else drive and steer him, he will always be a headless house men.

The game is played with 5 people, within a time limit that requires subs. The ball is ALWAYS FASTER than any human being. When LBJ finally learn that lesson, he’ll start to lead his team instead of “carrying” his team. LBJ just lost 2 strait finals facing the same type of fast paced ball movement that zips the ball like a pinball from one corner to another. Watching Cavs defence chasing it around like hapless school children reminds me of how two older brothers would throw the ball over and around a much younger brother caught in the middle. It was simply a cruel game of tease.

I’d rather Lin play for GKarl TBH than Malone (unknown quantity in trusting Lin)

  • Very true

The last statement by Lawrence Taylor (who was as dominating in NFL but didn’t brag) from NY Times article summed it up well on how LeBron is so wrong (even if his statement is true)

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/19/sports/basketball/lebron-james-may-be-right-but-his-boasts-still-rankle.html

“LeBron is the greatest basketball player on the planet, and back in the day I may have been the greatest defensive player on the planet at that time,” he said. “But I needed my teammates in order to win the championship. I don’t care how good a person is; you can’t do it by yourself because it’s a team game. Sometimes the greatest players need the greatest help.”

My difficulty with James is the same as my difficulty with individual awards and individual recognition in team sports. The golfer, the tennis player, the boxer are on their own, fending for themselves. But for team players to talk about their greatness ignores the fact that their success is dependent on others.

“As great as Michael Jordan was, he couldn’t take on five people by himself,” Taylor said.

James is the best player in the world, but what does that mean?

“It doesn’t mean nothing now, when you’re sitting at home with no hardware,” Taylor said.

In a series against an outstanding Golden State team, King James’s singular greatness was simply not good enough.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The Cav has made lots of trades because of him. LeBron won’t be what he is without those trades this past season. In this championship series, LeBron King was taken out of his game by Iggy and Draymond Green. The biggest disappointment seems to be Klay Thompson who is not even close to the level of Stephen Curry.

Any way the season before this, Kawhi Leonard made his name playing against LeBron. LeBron can’t dominate a game that he wants as Father Time is catching up on him. When Kyrie Erving and Love are back, LeBron has to take a step behind. I betcha there are defenders in NBA who is going to love playing against him.

As to my 2 cents, LeBron still claims to be the best player on the court but I think the credibility is going slowly downhill. Even Jerry West is questioning the validity and I believe he has seen something that the media didn’t.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Jeremy Lin has proved that he could start for any team. Jeremy’s performance after the ASGs won’t be forgotten. Plus Lin has been durable in the last 3 seasons playing over 70 games in regular season. Jeremy will be the PG who could step up any time that a team wants. My 2 cents is Jeremy would be signed around $7m per year when he is hitting his prime next season with his skill set.

The myth that he couldn’t go left, that he’s a bad defender and he turned over the ball a lot would be all gone next season with a team that wants him. The games after ASGs had proved that he could play at the next level that most teams wanted even he has changed teams in the last 3 seasons. To begin with he changed from NY to Houston and then to LA. These 3 teams have totally different systems and their superstars. Lin will do fine to the next team with whoever stars in the game.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

LeBron will burn out. Whichever team that plays him, they all have one goal in their mind pointing the King to a way of burning out. LeBron has reached his limits.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

That is a stupid trade. DeMarcus Cousin is too good to be traded away. He’s a franchise player. Playing in California is better than in Denver.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The point is Jeremy caught up with Draymond Green from behind. He gave Draymond Green a few steps and then caught up with him at the moment that he wanted. I have never seen anyone who has caught up with Jeremy from behind unless he’s blindsided.

As to the Pelicans, Jeremy could set the pace and the tempo for Gentry. I believe that big O is coming back for the Pelicans too. Lin and big O make good sense on both sides of the court. Jeremy now is underrated.

It’s because he never focussed on the defense in addition to the offense.

  • Filler-up

NOH have a lot of guards – Jrue, Tyreke, Eric Gordon. Not liking Lin there.

  • Filler-up

Livingston is not the type to whine.

  • John Lee

3rd time already, but sure why not, the more the merrier. 🙂

  • Acbc

The game is moving away from the bigs or even super sized shooting forwards because of the rule change. Mark my words, great quarterbacks like Lin and Curry WILL be the defining players of the future. Great facilitators will be the most sought after attribute, just as in football where a teams fate rests solely on the mind of the quarterback.

The recent talk on MDA’s system focuses on spacing, but no matter how great the system, d’antoni needed Lin and Nash to run it properly.

  • 1mtoldman

pretty much everyone has a picture taken with jeremy lin. the pool of people who haven’t had their picture taken with jeremy lin is shrinking (see this site for evidence).

  • 1mtoldman

    test

  • 1mtoldman

why do all the men in black look like samo hung?

  • I hope you’re correct. The game is certainly more exciting for the NBA with more playmakers with ball zipping all over the court. It makes greater entertainment than Individual DivaBall display

Perhaps we will see JLin and Curry meet in the playoff with exciting basketball

  • yeah, I’m surprised by the disappearance of Klay and the emergence of Iggy in the playoff (clutch 3s amids non-clutch FTs are even more surprising)

As for LeBron, he has to seek deep on why he succeeded in only getting 2 rings out of 6 Finals. He’s too talented individually for his own good

  • Brent Yen

KT is a extremely good ROLE player.

  • Brent Yen

    failed

  • It begins to look like that for sure.
So in Splash Bros, Curry is Mario and Klay is Luigi :]

  • BobbyH

    Test again.

  • Rzo Vlade

The Cavs want a facilitating guard who can either back up or play alongside Kyrie Irving, according to Windhorst,

    http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2015/06/brendan-haywood-rounder.html

  • real-dsb

Lin would forever be on bench behind Kyrie, although he does get hurt quite often.

  • real-dsb

4 hrs? that’s slow. =) Who was that youtuber who posted Lin’s game highlights within minutes of the end of the game? footwearfoot or christinecheng?

I expect Periscope live streaming next time. LOL

  • real-dsb

that is the biggest Adidas logo i’ve ever seen LOL

  • real-dsb

that’s just freaky, tracking Lin’s plane real time!

  • real-dsb

Josh Fan is his trainer. Who’s Master Luo?

  • real-dsb

He’s played in EC his whole career. If he played in WC, his stats would be lower.

  • Rzo Vlade

    key word play along

  • real-dsb

oh, but then that’s worse. Then Kyrie will be ball hogging SG pretending to be the PG position. Lin would be standing at the corner 3 waving his hands like in Houston.

  • Rzo Vlade

I think they are moving kyrie into sg guard if the facilitating guard is playing with him in the line up

  • real-dsb

    #entitlement

  • real-dsb

lmao at the phrase “elite backup”

  • real-dsb

12.2 ppg, 5.1 apg, 21.6 mpg. 136 games played, 26 starts. He’s a backup in Euroleague… so he would probably get even less mins in NBA. Why would he come back to NBA?

  • Brent Yen
  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Kyrie Irving is a major reason why the Cavs would be a bad destination for Lin. But that issue pales compared to the drawback of playing under the shadow of the self-proclaimed “best player on the planet.” Anyone who thinks Lin would be happy playing on Lebron’s team doesn’t understand Lebron or how he operates. The Cavs would have to be one of the 5 worst (or least likely) landing spots for Lin. Cavs beat out Rox and Lakers but are on par with the Knicks and Warriors.

  • GoodDayLA

Cavs are a really bad spot for Lin. We agree!

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

    Uh oh! (jk)

  • GoodDayLA

We already know what he can do. He was in Portland wasn’t he? I’ve seen plenty.

Sounds like the Euro guards coming to the NBA is a way to dilute the market and make it tougher for free agents and cheaper for teams to sign players.

Pablo Prigioni is pretty good, but there is only so much an elite Euro PG can do. Heurtas is coming too? He’s basically a stronger younger Pablo.

Lin is on a different track than these guys and much more athletic.

  • GoodDayLA

Jeremy Lin would own Euroleague. I guess after dominating it, he then might be considered an elite NBA backup too.

  • real-dsb

    LMAO

  • GoodDayLA

Wow Lakers not resigning Kobe’s boy Jordan Hill?????? Interesting. Hill is totally Kobe’s guy. I am shocked.

  • real-dsb

It’s because they’re going to sign a starting center with their draft pick. They’re not going to pay Hill $9M to be a backup.

  • Alain Gervais

lin will choose what he ant better to have more people looking at him. it puts up his value

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Personally, I’d rather see JLin play in Euroleague than spend another season with Kobe/BS or play under McHale again. Not that I think it will come to that.

  • Acbc

There’s a reason why the best coaches tries to take the ball away from the good facilitating PGs with double teams.

Kerr did the right thing to make LBJ beat them by himself. Trading 2s for 3s against a modern spaced team play to find the easier open shot takes good unselfish court leaders that will get everyone involved.

  • Acbc

Guys like Lebron and Kobe who comes straight out of high school never had the team coaching that others had while attending college. The fundamentals they missed really shows up late in their careers when they start losing their youth and vitality. Kobe still wants to ISO as if he could beat his man like when he was in his prime. They simply never learned to play any other way.

  • GoodDayLA

yeah I guess so. Youth movement plus Kobe at the 2. Haha, Kobe is in for a long season.

  • GoodDayLA
  • Rick Johnson

So if Ellis, Rondo gone and they get Beverley who is going to be the creater / playmaker? Beverley isn’t Parson isn’t, neither is Dirk or Chandler. They’d need to get a ball hog SG like Harden to be the playmaker.

  • GoodDayLA

We will see how high Lin’s stock is…

  • Grace Nsns

18M/3 years is a backup price for PG, plus there is a 4M buyout to pay. Don’t think LLull would accept the offer w/o promise to start.

  • Grace Nsns

CP3’s going to handle the ball a lot more next season, coach Carlisle mentioned this last week, CP3 himself’s been working on this long time.

  • It’s a trick.

With Bev as PG, Parsons would be the better playmaker so he gets to handle the ball more :]

  • Brent Yen
  • Grace Nsns

    Exactly.

  • Rick Johnson

Chandler Parson’s is #25. CP3 is on the Clippers.

  • Alain Gervais

free agency is getting interesting. i think rox will make a hard push for lin. cavs may as well.

  • zxcvb

Parsons is so transparent. Luckily, Carlisle is no McHale, so I’d be fine with Lin joining Dallas. Carlisle wasn’t afraid to bench Parsons when he stunk (he let CP statpad in blowouts to keep him happy).

  • zxcvb

Lin and the Rox are done. Lin would never go back and Houston/Harden’s ego would never allow it.

  • Alain Gervais

like justin bieber said never say never lol. lin will do as he pleases. all i care about is multiple option and using them against each other to get the best deal.

  • zxcvb

    Parsons thinks he’s CP3, though.

  • Brent Yen

    He did guard CP3….lol

  • Grace Nsns

YouR right. It’s been a while I checked on Parsons, lol

  • zxcvb

Another rumor that affect Lin’s free agency:
    https://twitter.com/basketballtalk/status/611894091190677504

  • 1mtoldman

to quote wayne coyne: “the test is complete”.

  • GoodDayLA

Alain is generally wrong. Don’t mind him too much. He’ll be wrong after Lin signs with a team not named Rockets. Hard push yeah sure. Rockets much more likely to end up with Rajon Rondo than Lin.

  • GoodDayLA

    Mchale is a freaking moron….

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

LOL. Alain is lucky to have a nemesis who is so lame.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I remember last summer the Rox made a huge push for Melo. Then they targeted Bosh. Finally out of desperation they pleaded with Lowry who humored them by showing up to a meeting. But after turning them down he joked about not letting someone steal his jersey number. So the Rox know what it feels like to get rejected.

  • GoodDayLA

I honestly have no clue what the Sixers are actually trying to do at this point. There is no culture, no flow, no nothing. They keep selecting bigs. And the last two were injured bigs. They don’t even round out the roster with any old vets to teach the young guys how to do things on or off the court.

  • Alain Gervais

i wouyld prefer cavs to the rox mostly because of there clutch site. way to unprofessional for me. but use the rox to pull more from other teams.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Isn’t that Papa Lin in the background? He looks impatient to drain some “skyhooks.”

  • David Kim

My top 3 Wishes for Lin

    1) signs with Mavs and replace Rondo as a starting PG. Mavs signs Aldridge.

    2) signs with Spurs for 2 years and back up Parker for now. Spurs signs Aldridge. Lin wins championship next year. Lin signs new deals with spurs after 2 years as a starting PG

    3) signs with Nuggets as a starting PG.

  • Rick Johnson
  • zxcvb

    I actually do see what they’re doing and I think it’s great. Sure, it’s a disgrace…but it’s really smart.

Hinkie is not like Morey. He believes (correctly) that the most important thing is an elite big man. So he’ll do anything to get 1 or 2 of those. Guards are much easier and cheaper to find.

  • zxcvb

By now, we all know how vital the head coach’s opinion of Lin is. And most coaches HATE praising Lin, even after a great game. There were only 3 exceptions this year:

    1) Brett Brown (Sixers)
    2) Brad Stevens (Celtics)
    3) Steve Clifford (Hornets)

I don’t care how “ideal” a situation may seem. If the head coach is unwilling to acknowledge Lin’s talents, then Lin cannot succeed there. Something to keep in mind as he chooses his next team…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes. That is Papa Lin. He is patiently waiting for JLin to do his his part with fans:-)

  • Brent Yen

    Good point

  • GoodDayLA

“He believes (correctly) that the most important thing is an elite big man.”

Please zxcvb, tell that to the Golden State Warriors, the 2015 NBA Champions.

I will repeat, I do not see what the Sixers are doing, unlike you.

  • zxcvb

I really think the head coach will be Lin’s #1 deciding factor in free agency. If he can’t reunite with MDA, then those 3 coaches are at or near the top of my list.

  • Rick Johnson

Are big’s still important in the modern NBA anymore?. Warriors didn’t even play Bogut and Cav’s stat Mosgov much the time. GSW are versatile players that can run, defend multiple positions, multiple passers / playmakers and are good shooters.

  • Brent Yen

I think the question is not about bigs or small. It is about how many good play makers you have on O end. And how many good defenders you have.

  • zxcvb

Tell that to Duncan, Shaq, Pau, Hakeem and Kareem.

You can win without an elite big man BUT there’s nothing more valuable and game-changing than an elite big man.

  • zxcvb

You can win with any particular configuration if you have talent and luck, but the most valuable asset remains an elite big man. Warriors could easily have lost this series if Kyrie sat out Game 1 (or if Cleveland had a decent 6th man).

  • Tey Ling

    Agreed

  • Tey Ling

God forbid, not the Weasel Rox.

  • zxcvb

But which would you rather have: prime Curry or prime Shaq?

I think we can all agree that prime Shaq is way more valuable.

  • Brent Yen

    Shaq makes play…

  • Brent Yen

Btw..to the question, I might choose prime Hakeem

  • blubell

He is obviously trying to photo bomb. Lol.

  • I have the same thought after seeing how McHale & Byron managed to misuse Lin in the past 3 years.

Can we put Rick Carlisle & George Karl as the 2nd tier of “Lin-Believer” Head Coaches?
They did praise Lin during HOU years but last season Lin didn’t have the chance to dominate their teams like he did against these 3 teams

  • He can’t believe the photographers don’t want to snap his famous skyhook :]

  • Excellent wishes.

Allow me to throw in some bonus wishes:
    1. Mavs: yours above + DeAndre Jordan signing in giving us weekly ESPN Lin-Jordan alley-oop highlights

    2. Spurs: Duncan delays retirement for 2 years for the chance to play with Lin. Lin dominated in playoff ala Iggy for the chance of Finals MVP :]

Note: For all scenario, Lin’s new team is unbeatable against Lakers, Rockets, Knicks for 2 years!

  • It’s only 11 days before JLin’s Free Agency begins!
    That’s only 2 weekends 🙂

Soon JLin would have a new team, a new jersey, a new coach … (hopefully)

And IJ would have the chance to update her banner with a new jersey …

“Success” is a definition given by onlookers. At every pinicle of human activities, the true measure of success isn’t about achievements, it’s about the process of becoming; at least that’s how they would view it anyways. It takes self belief and especially faith to know that the attention to every detail of you’re craft will push you into the sign posts of your process. Those sign posts are the moments of magically epiphany that aligned with “success”. To a musician, it could be writing the inspirational symphony. To an artist, it could be a vision that reveals to you in your sleep. To a scientist, it could be a breakthrough while sitting on the can.

The greatness we see happens because these special people do their hard work in obscurity. Perhaps the best example of this is what separates a great photographer from us amateurs. We could get lucky and take a great picture. What separates us from the pros is that they have worked hard to ready their craft and artistic vision for every moment that presents itself. They make themselves ready for greatness.

As a Lin fan, I can only ask that Lin keeps his faith and continue his craft and readiness for the next convergence of chance to come his way. If it happens, he’ll seize it just as he did in NYC. If it doesn’t, well, the world would have missed a lot of magical basketball. All I can ever ask of Lin is that he keeps working hard.

The best deal for Mavericks is to sign Jeremy and Ed Davis and they would get starting PF and PG altogether; really cost effective. Plus they are free agents which cost only money and nothing else.

With Jeremy Lin (PG, SG), Dirk(PF), Parsons Chandler (possibly SF) and Al-Farouq Aminu (defend specialist), and Tyson Chandler (possibly Ctr), This will be a contending starting lineup.

Plus their guaranteed contract Delvin Harris, Raymond Felton and possibly signing Jameer Nelson for the bench. This would be a decent team.

Supposedly I don’t mind JLin to play with JH but not KM as the coach and DM as the GM. Can’t stomach for few more seasons. Coaches that I really don’t want JLin to play with are: BS, KM and couple others (former Knicks coach).

Okay, just to share with you guys my experience at the airport yesterday.

I really got lucky that I was flying in Beijing just 1hr before Lin landed, and even in the same terminal. So I stayed and waited, Lin fans came, and gathered, they used QQ group to communicate with each other. They are really organized. Most Lin fans there are young generation, in their 20s, most boys and girls are pretty tall. But they are all communicated in QQ group, people who are not there keep updating with all the flight info, where the flight is, when it landed, and stuff.

Then I saw some bodyguards show up, in black, and wear sunglasses, lol.

Later a girl came with the banner they made, she organized people to line along the exit, and consistantly updated people and communicated with Lin team, and asking fans not to ask for signature at the door, and said after Lin come out, he will high five people, then we should all gathered together to get a group picture with Lin.

And then Lin came out, not much screaming, people are low key excited just like me, lol. I’m very glad there was no crazyness, no screaming, and most people stay where they were and waited for their turn to highfive Lin. From the video you could see Lin went directly towards the banner, and highfive people, no one asked for signature. I was able to get a pretty good view to shot the video.

The video stopped when Lin was posing for the group picture, and I realized I was too short to show any part of my body behind all those tall boys and girls, so I did not bother. I guess more than half people were like me, so you might not see that many people in the group picture. After that, Lin pass out some wrist band, the last one was grabed away right in front of me, unfortunately. But I got to high five him. Though I heard it before, but was still suprised that his hand is super cold. I’m not a warm person, but his hand is really cold.

Then he quickly walked towards the parking lot, we all followed. He stopped and signed for people, and then took some selfies. Over all the heads of fans, I could only see on the cell phone screen his smiling face, and I don’t think I could get in the picture there, again, I’m too short. 🙁

That’s it, my closest encounter with Jeremy Lin, I’m pretty happy with what I achieved. and following are some pictures I got.

Golden State just won the Larry O’Brien trophy with Curry breaking 3-point shooting records alongside four 6-6 to 6-7 guys in the starting lineup.

The irony is that it’s Steve Kerr who fired MDA in Phoenix and Steve Kerr is the coach for the Warriors.

Q: Between Rox and Lakers experiences, which he likes better?
A: JLin chose Rox. He was able to win more games. He still believes he is a very good starter. Hope he is able to win more games and enter playoff games.

Q: Among superstars that he have played with previous, whom he likes to play best?
A: Hard to answer but he feels that his playing style is similar to JH.

if JH ‘s ego can be kept in check and they are both allowed to play to their strengths they can be an incredible force. The first bit in Houston with the two together was just amazing…JH will have to check his ego at the door if he really wants to win he will have to allow someone else to shine. End of season he is asking for help… does he mean it??? we will see… whether it is with JLin or someone else.

    Rough translation of video above:

First, Jeremy was asked about his feelings doing the charity event.

Jeremy: I remember when I was a kid, I liked running, playing games, so when I have the opportunity, I like playing different games with kids. I think kids need a good role model who can hep them. When I was little, I was very naughty. so I know that. I had my elder brother, I also had a very good friend, helping me everyday, teaching me how to do my homework, play basketball, so I hope I can also inspire these kids to pursue their dreams.

Second, he was asked if he cheers for the underdog team because of his own experience

Jeremy: Kids usually support the same team, so I, my elder cousin and my younger brother, we usually cheered for the other team. I know kids can feel really feel down if they don’t win a contest or a game, so I hope I can help cheer them up and help them, as you say, persevere everyday to pursue their dreams.

Third, he was asked about practicing on his Beijing trip and what his focus was

Jeremy: We did practice a little bit last night. Focus this year are: 1st, position usually back too bent, movement not very efficient; 2nd, 3-point shot shooting position too far back, so I need to move my hand lower for a quicker and more efficient (less-energy expended) release; 3rd/4th, strengthen defense and dribble.

Fourth, he was asked if he congratulated his old team when they won the championship.

Jeremy: Yes, I texted David Lee. He was a starter last year, but came off the bench this year and sometimes did not even play. I kept in touch with him. Talked to him whenever we played against them, or texted him whenever I saw their team playing to cheer and encourage him. I was very happy when they won. I also got in touch with Steph, but he’s too busy these days, so I’m not going to bug him. Will wait a month or two and talk to him.

Indiana Pacers May Express Interest on Jeremy Lin in Lieu of CJ Watson!

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly not intent on re-signing backup point guard CJ Watson for the next NBA season so the team is looking for a possible replacement in the free agency market.

As it is, one of the likely point guard contenders that the Pacers may be looking at is Jeremy Lin, who should be able to fit in to the role of either a backup point guard to George Hill, or a starting point guard since he was able to do just that during his one-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Jeremy Lin could certainly fit into the system of Pacers coach Frank Vogel. And the good news for team president Larry Bird is that they do not have to pay so much money to acquire Jeremy Lin from the free agency.

    ….

Not much there in there article other repeating other article points on his value

  • Alain Gervais

pacers do need someone who can creat there own shot outside of paul george. they also have a great coach and oh yea not to mention the great larry bird. why not????? are we that afraid of george hill???????

  • 1mtoldman

all tho free agency technically begins july 1 no one can actaully be signed as a free agent until july 9 i believe it is, was july 8 but i think now is july 9. so plenty of time to return.

  • Rick Johnson

I think it’s the perspective and the camera lens focal length. The guy is closer and wider angle lens magnifies things that are closer.

  • Riddick

I don’t like this nba/media narrative of Lin can be had ‘cheap’. He’s just as good as any top tier PG( imo ) if given the same treatment as other nba athletes. I doubt any of the top nba athlete’s would even come close to being as good as Lin if they had been treated as atrociously as Lin has been since DAntoni. For whatever reason, the nba seems to be afraid that Lin will outshine their ‘favs/black’ players, which is ironic because one would think the nba would be more tolerant or fair beyond the race than any other sports org.
The double standards of the nba is why I don’t follow this sport & have so much respect for Lin not giving them the finger. I hope there is one team w/i the nba that is strong/gutsy enough to say frack the racism…’we think Lin is worth investing in to get us to the playoff/championship’. Walk the talk NBA!!

  • Alain Gervais

given his off year or lakers terribleness he is cheaper then he would of been. they are just saying he is worth much more. his value will pick up again. why mavs would love to have him. they love undervalued stuff.

  • Riddick

You could be right, but it ticks me off that Lin not doing great is blamed on ability or lack of, when it was clear it was due to factors( kob, bs, constant clueless rotation experiments, sub par team mates, etc ) that were out of his control. It’s like the nba has different expectation levels…Lin, bench players, favorites( ‘stars’ ).

I’m just waiting for a team to prove me wrong on what I see as a badly run org by a bunch of closed minded ‘sheep’.

My hope for Lin in the FA is that a team uses some intelligence & sees his potential w/o all the negative/false narratives & pays him his ‘fair’ value. I don’t necessarily care about which team it is, just that they treat him fairly.

I know. Fans use different “terms” or multiple terms for the same players sometimes.
To me it’s easy to learn:-)

  • I wonder if Carmelo Anthony will think THIS 3 year, $25 million contract is “ridiculous”.

  • orLinaryjoe

Yes, needs to work on his shot selections for selfies. 100x a day should do it with fans!

  • orLinaryjoe

Don’t forget the left hand selfy

  • zxcvb

I know what you mean, but hey…that’s life.

Lin being “available for cheap” will actually help him this offseason. It makes teams more open-minded about giving him a chance. Look at the Kings — they signed Collison for 5M last summer but they let him start. The cheap price convinced them to give him a shot, and he did great until he got injured.

Besides, Lin gets so much money from endorsements (and will make even more if given a chance), so there’s no need to make this a pride thing either.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

It’s being reported that the Knicks are likely to trade their #4 draft pick to the Suns for Bledsoe. Sun’s coach Jeff Hornacek likes to play multiple PGs so I think Phoenix may become a possible destination for Lin.

  • Alain Gervais

lot of politics in basketball what I’ve learned since following lin.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Agree. Drop the tour and the silly videos, put your head down and JUST work to improve your selfies. Left handed selfies. Develop a floater selfie. Improve crossover selfies and step-back selfies. Do some slam dunk selfies to get the crowd into it.

I know this post wont be popular but I say these things because I believe Lin can improve his selfies. He can be an all-star selfie taker. But he’s not there…yet. Some Lin fans are delusional and don’t think Lin needs to improve his selfies. But I believe he can improve. Did I mention I think Lin needs to improve?

And I agree with Ryan Higa. Lin should grow out his dreadlocks. That would also improve his selfies. Maybe also develop a skyhook selfie to make his dad happy.

(Inspired by your comment, “Lin has …too many tiger dads, tiger moms, tiger fans, tiger trolls“)

  • orLinaryjoe

Hahaha. Too many iso selfies, good to see him doing the team selfy, some more selfy assists please… or, more hockey assisted selfies!

  • spiderman

    secret service

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

That’s the price he’s asking to put up with Kobe/BS for another season. Any other team gets a discount.

  • TTNN

No kidding, Suns had three great PG, and now get rid of all of them. The team is trading a young player for #4 pick, and get back to rebuild stage, why Lin want to go there? Really could not figure out what they are doing there.

  • KL

In the past 3 years, Lin had seemingly favourable situations which turned out awful. In Houston he was “the face of the franchise” and in LA Scott was supposedly “a fan”. But McHale and Morey believed more in the fact that they were right in cutting Lin instead of really investing in developing him. As for Scott he was just lying to get the job.

Lin had several great surges – when Harden was out, start of second season with Houston, second half of season with LA. All these surges were cut down due to prejudice, politics and agendas.

Now if Lin has taught me anything, it is to stay positive and keep dreaming big. So whatever happens this postseason I believe we can be in for some great surprises. There is no denying he has been devalued by Houston and LA and other teams who are not following him closely will not understand all the marginalisation Lin has been through. It is also true that the NBA is quite a rotten organisation with too much politics and not enough merit based opportunities. But things can turn around if Lin is given a fair chance.

I am really looking forward to the season no matter where Lin ends up.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Well they still have Brandon Knight so Lin wouldn’t be the sole PG. I think Dragic forced their hand by demanding a trade. Getting rid of Bledsoe for a pick would free up a lot of cap space so they’re not necessarily tanking.

So which team would you like to see Lin join? Any team you name, people will raise objections to it.

The Suns is getting worse with Eric Bledsoe in place of Dragic and Isaiah Thomas. Brandon Knight fails to produce after trading to the Suns. The signing of Eric Bledsoe proves to be a disaster because he dominates but fails to produce for the Suns. Replacing Goran Dragic by Eric Bledsoe is a failure.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Hope Jeremy stay away from the Suns. This team is having problems that couldn’t be replacements of players. It will take years and nobody think they have a schedule to succeed in the West Conference. The signing of Eric Bledsoe is a failure and the team is getting worse with him dominating the game.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

What Byron Scott said about 3 pointers don’t win championship and his other old school ideas are in bankruptcy because of the success of GSW. Alvin Gentry finally gives Mike D’Antoni the justice he well deserves.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

What Lin haters fail to see is what a tremendous athlete Jeremy is. Jeremy has consistently made improvements in his game and his real positive minus on the court has reached a very high level specially in games after the ASGs.

Byron Scott had been holding back the teams from winning in order for him to tank and Jeremy was shuffled in and out and put under numerous abuses to loss games. Jeremy was cut down in his usage to lose more games. That is a fact. For Lakers to get the draft pick they want, the team has to lose and Jeremy has to be trashed. In the course, even Byron Scott has to admit finally that Jeremy is a good NBA basketball player despite his coaching.

What Lin haters used to do is they trash Jeremy Lin by comparing Jeremy with Beverley, Raymond Felton and Ronnie Price etc. The problem is their argument never sustains over time.

Patrick Beverley played only 56 games as usual in regular season being ranked 41 this season in RPM while Jeremy consistently over 30 and is ranked 18 which is an improvement from 29th. Raymond Felton this season is negligible. Ronnie Price has an exceptional year but he has never come close to Jeremy Lin. He played well because he was given the minutes to play under Byron Scott but he played only 43 games. Jeremy Lin consistently played over 71 games in the last 3 season.

Jeremy is a better athlete than the above. There is no argument but still people would rather give the minutes to them than to Jeremy.

He said he’ll wait for Dragic and Rhondo made their decisions first. I guess after that there won’t be too many players with his upsides at the prime to compete. In fact Jeremy played against these 2 players many times and there are no problems for him to defend them. In fact Jeremy is more and more at ease playing against Dragic, Rhondo and even Bledsoe.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Gosh it’s Harden. Well Jeremy might wish that but his fans would rather not.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Yeah Ijust couldn’t stand Kevin McFail and Morey.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

JLin said he would look at where Dragic and Rando were signing before knowing which team he might join. One down and one to go:-) He also put his priority to be a starter and a coach/team that he can trust and who trust him to be the starter.

Even Rondo? I thought some news said only King wants him?! So which teams? Wait for so long FA finally coming soon but also worry….

LOL You can get lots of news from China JLin fans website. They are awesome in getting pics and info.

  • CJSHYY

From this statement, I think it’s all for Lakers. Bc if for Mav, they don’t interested in both players only Lakers. I guess right now Lin maybe got some offers from teams, for starter & backup both. But he wants or needs to wait for Lakers offer to see which team he really wants to join…. NO Lakers please, everything is the same. Like FO promise you one thing but Kobe is not happy then they change again. smh!

Rhondo is not a factor anymore after the burst out in Dallas. Rhono is done for in his career. The stats has proved that he’s toxic to the team and in the playoff, Rhondo was totally unacceptable in his behaviour.

    yup. Jlin practice. lol

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Byron Scott has almost burnt all the bridges by DNPing Jeremy in the game against SA. Jeremy has always played well against the Spurs and Byron simply didn’t want Jeremy to succeed because he’s on his way of tanking.

However Jeremy is the best PG on the market now in terms of efficiency and being a game changer. He’s at his prime and the stats after ASGs showed that he could play at the next level even he was treated improperly. The consensus is Byron wasted Jeremy in the past season. Lakers don’t have a PG. That Jordon Clarkson is the PG of the future is nothing but a joke because he couldn’t even do the court spacing properly. He’s more than a year away from being a real PG.

Lakers even with the return of Julius Randle, their 2nd lottery pick and Kobe Bryant still wouldn’t make the playoff. Of course they couldn’t afford to tank anymore. They would try to win as many games as possible but still they don’t have the players to compete. Byron Scott is their weakness.

Why would Jeremy come back to play for LA to bail them out? They wouldn’t be grateful and most likely they would put Jeremy under the bus again.

  • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

I think Jeremy Lin will go to any team that will allowed him to start even if the team is not so good.

  • Brent Yen

That is one way to go. I think as of now, he already has a good idea of what (where) he want. He is basically just waiting for the draft and FA to unfold to see which plan he is going to use.

  • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

I think he need to go to the East coast, if he decided to go to a not so good team as a starter.

  • Brent Yen

Maybe, in the end….not too many West coast opportunities anyway. As of now of course. It can change quickly.

  • zxcvb

Any “bad” team that lets him be a REAL starting PG (as opposed to standing in the corner for spot-up 3s) will become a good team. They will at least make the playoffs in the East and contend for the 8th seed in the West.

  • zxcvb

I’m guessing Dallas is his backup plan right now. Mavs want to spend on a big man and they don’t have the trade assets to get a “star” PG. And of course, there’s the Parsons and Tyson Chandler connection.

I also think we can’t rule out Philly. They have ZERO established PGs on their roster, Lin lights them up every year, Brett Brown is one of the few coaches to praise Lin highly, and even if they draft Russell, many people see him as a SG at the next level.

  • zxcvb

Kroenke really is Denver’s James Dolan:

“My dad wasn’t involved, because unfortunately at this position he’s briefed on everything. And I think you know that by now, Mark,” said Kroenke, with a defiance as heavy as that boulder on his shoulder. “As far who made the call, I think that I’m always going to have the final say.”

  • TTNN

okay guys, I got lucky to watch the “Yes! Coach!” Basketball game. Unfortunately, pictures and videos were not allowed inside. So I don’t have Jeremy’s picture.

This was supposedly a TV show, but the whole time was just a basket ball game. Jeremy is the coach of the “Duang Duang Baby” team, all the players are singers or movie stars, with two girls. And the other team was composed with students from Dongguan basketball school.

So the first two quarters, the star team got all the whistles and get most of their points from free throw line. And the Basketball students were playing pretty easy on them. The star team got 2 points lead at the half time. Jeremy actually was coaching them, he trained them to have zone defense, and some simple plays, and he sub-players, and talk to them. Jeremy was laughing and enjoy the game.

Then after half time, the basketball school students suddenly started to play, they started with full court pressure, and generated a couple of steals, and in couple of minutes, they lead in double digits. Jeremy did not call any timeouts in the first half, but called two in the first 4 minutes of the second half. And he actually picked up a white board, and show them some stuff. Unfortunately, those things does not work, (well hard to make it work when the star players lost the ball left and right). Jeremy obviously is trying, he would even walk on the court and call the players over during free throw time and try to talk to them. And then, the most exciting thing happened, he subed himself in, that’s when the game really started.

okay, then I enjoyed the rest of the game, really fun. Jeremy got 31 points, and made the clutch shot to get the 2pt lead with only 0.2s left. Finally the star team won. 🙂

Okay, I know those are not professional players, but still, was fun to see Jeremy was playing as center, obviously he is the tallest on his team. So he stand under the basket and was giving the opponent 3s only. And whenever he got the ball, he was triple teamed, but he drives anyway. His teammates were playing as King’s owner suggested, left 4 to play defense, and get one under the opponent’s basket to get fast transition points. There were 2 girls in Jeremy’s team, and the rule was girls got double points. So they actually was trying to left the ball to the girl, and rest boys were marching hand in hand to push the defenders away, unfortunately, the girl lost the ball as her dribbling was shaky. And for the last half minute, Jeremy get all the girls sit on the bench, and he himself was on the court, and he run the clock till there is 5s left, and he drove, and lay up to get the last shot. It was a fun experience.

  • kittyhead

I think the 2 girls are 容祖兒(Hong Kong singer) and 陳妍希(Taiwanese actress). The show sounds funny. Thanks for your report! : )

  • Alain Gervais

from the teams listed its mavs number 1 then nets 2 well idk they said playing behind some guy named jarred jack who i really have never heard of if so nets are last, and suns 3 from the teams listed.

  • yibada is known to recycle news.

The only information I wasn’t aware of was the Suns trying to get Lin from the Lakers before trade deadline ? If yes, perhaps Suns will be interested in JLin in FA

However, reports mentioned of the Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets to be in the mix as well as these teams look to upgrade their backcourt rotation. The Pacers are reportedly set to trade C.J Watson despite the fact that George Hill hasn’t been in tip-top condition of late. The Mavs are back in the market for a point guard following a not-so-good gamble on Rajon Rondo. The Suns were reportedly close to acquiring Lin in a trade with the Lakers at trade deadline and it wouldn’t be shocking if they renew their interest in the playmaker.

  • Alain Gervais

yea so i have mavs, indiana, then nets in that order. although we only got 3 of the 7 teams

  • the article mentioned GSW, Mavs, Nuggets as the first interested teams then Rockets

  • Alain Gervais

gsw has too many options for me. nuggets is a no with out dantoni

  • I’d also prefer no in all “backup-PG” openings

    So that will leave:
    1. Mavs
    2. Pacers
    3. Nets
    4. Suns
    5. Nuggets (bad tanking team)

  • Alain Gervais

if cavs was on that list where would you put them???? 1.mavs 2.pacers 3.cavs 4.nets 5 suns 6. nuggets 7. rox. lol i bet these are the seven teams

  • Cavs would still be backup PG behind Kyrie so I don’t like the option.
Whenever there are existing “NBA stars”, they always get jealous of JLin’s popularity so it might be wise to stay away from “me-first” starts for a while

  • Alain Gervais

kyrie would be the issue lebron doesn’t care at this point. but and you imagine a kyrie lin backcourt. also not to mention a almost certain finals run. the sg is jr smith i think lin can take his spot. remember lin isn’t a pg but a combo guard.

  • Alain Gervais

all I’m saying if lebron called lin and said he wanted him (because we know who the real coach and gm is) i think lin would take it as an honor and would go. but lin would need to be guaranteed a big role.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Can you imagine the alternate universe if Lin were acquired by the Suns at the trade deadline? He might have helped the Suns make the playoffs instead of continuing to be stuck in BS purgatory. If this is ever confirmed, my hatred for the Lakers and Kupcake for not making the trade will know no bounds. I especially resent having to append “the Grey” to my screen name.

  • Brent Yen

I saw news headline in Taiwan saying lin said he is aiming teams that will let him start. I wonder where was the source that said it…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

JLin said this when he was interviewed most likely during Peking U Q&A. I posted the link well down below:-)

  • Brent Yen

I know that..haha…I am just not sure if that was translated correctly

  • Lin with Suns fast-pace offense definitely would be more thrilling to watch than BScott’s slow outdated system.

But it’s okay. If the Suns is high on JLin, they will make a pitch for him at least with a chance to start. Let’s see what happens

I’m torn with the possibility of Lin going to the Suns since I might have to contemplate to get expensive season ticket(s). Decisions, decisions LOL

  • IMO It should be standard response for him but it’d be nice to have him confirm that.
Then someone should follow up by asking what if GSW or Cavs offers backup PG with a chance of championship.

At this point, it’s probably wise to entertain as many offers as possible :]

    yea

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL Okokok. Stop teasing you for now. Interesting development will begin in next couple weeks.

What’s more amazing for me to witness for the past few days is JLin is very candid about his past season, FA and so on when asks. He also is much more relaxed. He has definitely learned to entrust his NBA career to God. So, no more unnecessarily stress and burden to carry! This is proven by many fans who met him noticed this change. What a joy to follow such a godly man.

  • Spot

i’m ok with mavs, i don’t like suns because of bledsoe (dragic made it clear he didn’t trust Phoenix anymore cause he was always in the corner), don’t like pacers cause of Paul George (he’s similiar to Kobe Bryant), Nuggets could be decent if they give away Lawson and Nets still have Deron Williams, so NO!

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

There are reliable reports that the Suns want to trade Bledsoe.

  • ok, good 🙂 He’s definitely quite a Linspiration to many generations.

His “Redefining Success” is certainly very thought-provoking and provide hope beyond worldly success, especially for future leaders in the Peking university to do good things in life to give a sense of purpose.

I might create a separate thread to summarize his key points. There are definitely many interesting BB tidbits that he openly shared from last season to build others. What a great young man!

  • Spot

if they do then i’ll be ok with suns.

The Suns have discussed Eric Bledsoe trade scenarios with other teams

Went to cruise couple weeks ago. So so so surprise to see a female passenger wore JLin’s homecourt Lakers jersey. I almost went over to say hi but didn’t: She was busy with family members and we had a very rocky cruise in dining. Hard to stand still and wasn’t fun to feel seasick for walking around too much:-(

  • I agree this is a suprising turn of events since the Suns traded Dragic/Isaiah Thomas to keep Bledsoe.

Combined with the rumor the Suns tried to acquire Lin before trade deadline from Lakers, this can bode well for Lin’s chance to be pursued by the Suns in the FA.

Jeff Hornacek is a smart coach, I’d have no problems with Lin playing for him

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Happy camper if Suns signs with Jeremy Lin:-) Expect detail report of every homecourt game from you:-)

  • JLin Fan from Australia

That will be good. Also if you can obtain the full Q & A will be even more beneficial. From the full talk, JLin answered to FA was excluded but showed up in other news.

  • Hopefully Porzingis since he’s a 7’1” big man who can run.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL I won’t be too excited in 9 days but 14 days when JLin returns from Asia trip. That’s when ball is rolling for JLin:-)

  • JLin Fan from Australia

When FA begins, maybe you can make a thread of fans guess which team JLin will end up signing when we know which teams have offered JLin:-)

  • Brent Yen

This is about the excitement that we finally reached single digit number of days left..lol

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

The draft is this Thursday night. That should cause tons of rumors about wheeling and dealing.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Similar to JFFA’s suggestion below, I was thinking it might be fun to set up a poll for which team Jlin will end up on. Perhaps each poster can choose up to 5 teams? It would be funny if “the crowd” guessed right.

  • Brent Yen

Yes….but still the speculation will only be over until……..

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL I know. To me I’m excited about reading news on JLin Asia trip than FA for now:-) At least his trip keeps me busy:-)

  • 5 teams is too many, no?
    Maybe Top 3 per user

  • I meant .. the pressure to my wallet LOL
With JLin’s wallet, there’d be no pressure hehe

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    2 polls to create:
    1. preFA offers (what one wants teams to offer–maynot up to 3-5)
    2. Actual offer sheets (select 1 only)

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Sounds good. Don’t know how the logistics work out. I thought more data might be more revealing. For example if everyone only could only pick one, then we might only see Mavs and if that’s not right…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL Pressure in all aspects:-) Life is tough!!!!!! Wonder if there is NBA games here, am I crazy enough to watch games?

  • the answer is too easy .. yes :]

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Not sure. Need to sit close enough to the bench to see interaction of JLin with coach, teammates and court actions. It will be mightily expensively to do so. Maybe can afford 1-2 games per season:-)

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Let’s enjoy the process! For example, I get a kick out of rumors that the Lakers want to sign Rondo or Wade.

  • good idea.. let me work on it later

  • CJSHYY

Where did you read the news on “Suns tried to acquire Lin before trade deadline from Lakers?”

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I wonder if we will actually know about Lin’s offers before he makes his final decision. That would probably result in epic battles on these blogs, arguing over which team he should choose. It could get ugly 🙂

  • yeah, let me think about it some more.
Maybe Poll before July 1st & afterwards

  • you don’t need to sit close enough, you can simply bring telelens or binocular :]

  • from yibada article below .. but it didn’t quote the original article which I’m also wondering

  • 1mtoldman

right side column “jlin latest articles” top post/link.

  • Brent Yen

Unlikely we will know it. We will only know the final 2 or 3 options I guess.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

2 options will be enough to cause a riot. LOL

  • Brent Yen

    This is very true….LOL

  • 1mtoldman

yeah were it to be true would be a conceed of an epic fail by collapsing on bledsoe’s demands year before pushing dragic out and then dealing thomas 2.

then dumping bledsoe after all. (also btw rumors of knight going as well). but again 95% of these pre draft/day f.a. rumors are just positioning.

will know a lot more in what transpires on draft day (after all kobe came to the lakers on draft day dealings).

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

For example, if starting for D’Antoni on the Nuggets were still an option, that would easily be my first choice. But if it’s a choice between starting for the Mavs or replacing Ginobli’s bench role on the Spurs, I really don’t know which he should choose.

  • 1mtoldman

speculation now is that 6ers will take pozingris.

  • Brent Yen

I guess he put starting as 1st priority

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL I’m old. Don’t have those:-)

  • CJSHYY

Thanks. One of the 7 teams?! Wow! Hope it’s true not just rumor.

  • CJSHYY

    Oh! Thanks.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

You don’t have to guess as JLin said so in Beijing.

  • Brent Yen

For regular bball reason, maybe he meant it. Not generally true. For example, if McHale ask him to come back and start…will he go?

  • JLin Fan from Australia

More on Wade now. I refused to read nor had any urge to view anything on Lakers. Lakers really burned me out for good past season.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Well, let’s see which team will offer him as a solid starter. By now JLin should know well which coach/gms/orgs/teammates… that he will trust. He learns!!!! Let’s wait and see which team he will end up with:-)

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

But the Spurs! Possibility of a major contribution to a championship. And he would eventually start over Parker. It’s the only team that can even trump starting. It’s his choice of course 🙂

  • yes, but only if MDA replaces McHale so McHale can coach the other team LOL

  • Alain Gervais

favorite team at the moment is mavs but suns could be a dark horse if bledsoe traded.

  • Brent Yen

Exactly my point. He might not 100% sure on every coach and teams. I think he already have a good idea in a very general sense.

  • Brent Yen

BTW…I think the worst riot that can happen is if Lin signs will Lakers again. LOL

  • Alain Gervais

i also think lins play style went up because a fast pace team won the playoffs . it was always said those team never win the chip. well now what??? lol gsw winning raised lins value

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

    Not happening.

  • Brent Yen

Let’s just say that is a theoretical worst case scenario for now.

Any team that will put winning above all else will do. The coach that has to win to keep his job will eventually give Lin a chance to shine. As long as they need to win, they’ll optimism Lin’s usage. Absolutely no tanking team.

Most importantly, Lin needs to sign only one year contract with second year option.

  • Brent Yen

    Good point

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Unless it’s with the Spurs. Then he can sign longer term as insurance against injury.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

If we’re doing early voting here is my ballot 🙂
    Mavs
    Spurs
    Kings
    Suns
    Nuggets
    Jazz
    Nets
    Pacers
    Bucks
    Sixers
    Trailblazers

  • Acbc

Even with the Spurs or Mavs, he should never relinquish control of his future to the whims of the team. Basically, either pay him to play or Lin will leave.

  • Brent Yen

The good part of staying as a FA…lol

  • According to Suns fan blog, the Suns plans to use Bledsoe as a trade-chip in rebuilding mode in hopes of getting that 1 All-Star in any position.

No mention of JLin at all so that yibada article reference of the Suns trying to trade for Lin still needs to be verified

The article only mentions Brandon Knight (RFA) can be the starting PG. We’ll have to see what the Suns does with Brandon Knight and if they do have interest in JLin.

    http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2015/4/19/8452275/eric-bledsoe-is-the-phoenix-suns-best-trade-chip-to-improve-team

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Seriously, I’d rather he played in Europe. (Unless something drastic happened to Kobe and BS.)

  • Alain Gervais

omg i forgot how old parker looked last year

  • very true.. Lin will be 27 so it can be costly not to get lots of PT in his prime time

  • Brent Yen

They choose BK over Lin…..so stupxd….lol

  • Alain Gervais

    thx forgot about the spurs

  • Alain Gervais

they could use the two pg’s like before with lin and knight. they seem to like that mix

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

You remind me of Lin and his Peking duck. LOL

  • Alain Gervais

not to mention lin is a combo guard so teams with an open sg spot is a big possibility i.e cavs.

  • yes to PGs, not pig’s =)

  • Alain Gervais

    darn you autocorrect

  • I see HOU rumor trying to get BK but the Suns can match the RFA

Things will be interesting for sure

  • okayyy .. but why :]

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Great!!!!!

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I was wondering if you’d get it. Let’s just say that you’re both acting parsimonious in this case. He doesn’t want to splurge on his favorite dish too often, and you don’t want to get season Sun tickets. 🙂

  • That’s a good point.

Suns can see Knight/Lin as the ‘cheaper’ 2-PG system than retaining Bledsoe, which they will sell high

  • LOL .. then I should follow his lead, only 2-3X per year watching Suns games & eating Peking duck

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Sure. Besides, I bet KHuang will let you have his seats whenever you like 🙂

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Actually it’s really not a fair comparison. He earned $19 mil last year.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • the Peking duck story was when he was growing up & his parents didn’t want to spend too much on expensive dish, right?

so I can relate to his parents dilemma hehe

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

No! He said it’s one thing he hopes to eat now that he’s in China because he likes it so much but it’s too expensive in the States. I smh at that one!

  • really? .. I couldn’t quite comprehend the timing from the interview.
Those Peking Duck vendors would offer them for free for JLin now LOL

maybe Brent, Melody or others can confirm here

  • Brent Yen

    It is Tag…not Jag…LOL

  • BTW when JLin said he can only eat 2-3X of Peking duck per year, was that when he was growing up or now?

Should be the childhood days, right? He can get endorsementc for free Peking duck nowadays LOL

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I don’t like the idea of Lin nudging Parker aside, but it probably is time for Ginobli to retire.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

If there are no great fits then he should definitely do that in the hope of joining D’Antoni a year or two from now. And I agree about the Mavs. But somehow I trust Pop and the Spurs to use Lin and everyone on the roster appropriately.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

I intend to thoroughly enjoy watching Kobe play even worse next season, only with no more excuses about a lack of talent around him. And especially no JLin to kick around anymore.

  • Gotta love JLin’s diplomatic response to a fan’s question of why he can’t be an NBA superstar yet,

“Besides some weaknesses to improve like being aggressive consistently as the fan said, it’s also …‘Other Factors’ to influence one’s success”

We know Other Factors = jealous superstars, biases, NBA politics, etc.
But if Linsanity once overcame that in 2012, history can repeat again (God willing)

Knight was a terrible pickup for the Suns. He was awful for them (even before the injury), and if you look at his career %s, his year in Milwaukee was a fluke. There’s a reason they dumped him as quickly as possible — he was a gunner who statistically made his team worse. Bledsoe is far superior to Knight in every way.

That said, the Suns should absolutely consider trading Bledsoe. He’s very good but not elite and he remains a major injury risk. Trading him and #13 for the Knicks’ #4 (as rumored) makes sense. I read that the Knicks worked out Kaminsky and stressed that they were serious about acquiring him…which suggets they may indeed trade down.

The Suns could use #4 to draft Porzingis or Hezonja, both of whom have star potential. Could be busts as well, but it’s worth the gamble. Lin / Hezonja / Tucker / Markieff Morris / Len.

  • GoodDayLA

I suspect Lin is like option 10 for the Suns, but I believe he is an option. They view him suspiciously but see what we see though they are less convinced in Lin’s ability than we are. They see his inability more than his ability.

Lin also has a strong rapport with Knight. Not sure why but maybe because both are very religious. Brandon Knight is a very good young man who I can clearly tell has the makeup to be a great fit with Lin in the back court.

However, I do not believe two six foot 3 guys can work to win a championship. You need bigger players. You can only get away with one player who is that short.

    It is my personal opinion.

Now I’d hate to see Lin backup Brandon but maybe that is what it will come down to if Lin’s offers are limited.

Lin and Knight starting at the 2 guards would turn the Suns into a 7th and 8th seed. But II don’t see much more than that happening without better front line or Lin moving to the 1 and the 2 becoming a bigger better upgrade.

  • I’m also not very high on BKnight. I suspect the Suns might let him go depending what happens in the draft

I like that lineup. I think they can run well to push the pace and space the floor? I’m not quite familiar with Porzingis (other than draft report of agile 7 footer) and Hezonja

  • Suns might keep or drop BKnight, or play with Lin. It will be interesting to see

idk if the Suns is high on JLin either. But Hornacek might be able to appreciate his game more being an ex-guard

  • GoodDayLA

I’d like to see MDA coach Chicago. And Lin can come in as 6th man or start at the 2 and move Butler to the 3. Haha. Wishing..

  • Kwok Wai Lai

76er will draft a big man. This is a draft for big fella.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Oops. Thanks for the correction. My mind is in JAG for whatever reason. Watched JAG ages ago:-)

  • zxcvb
  • zxcvb

Hezonja looks like a more athletic Klay Thompson to me.

People talk about him being a slashing wing but I don’t see it. His big games for Barcelona involve him playing a pure SG role: spotting up, coming off of screens, hitting 3s with a smooth quick release. But he also has great speed and length, good for alley-oops and running in transition.

Porzingis is like a rich man’s D-Mo. Skinny and quick 7-footer. His ballhandling and shooting is much better than D-Mo, but he has the same weakness — just too thin to bang inside. But who knows? Maybe he fits as a stretch 4 next to a defense and rebounding center like Asik.

This is the cut of JLin answers. So certain words have cut out. Not the raw one. Correct version about Peking duck is talking about his young days, he only could afford 2-3 times per year because it was quite expensive. Believe JLin and family went for Peking duck to celebrate Joe’s birthday and Father’s Day on 21 June. Reporters and fans took this bit out to make news.

And Cousins just “confirmed” it with an emoji tweet (is that what the world has come to?). He tweeted a snake in the grass, haha.

  • zxcvb

What’s going on in Sacramento? It seems like George Karl and Vlade Divac are on completely different pages, and Ranadive can’t decide what to do. I think Karl wants to trade Cousins and field an uptempo, guard-driven attack. But Divac wants to get Rondo, I guess, to feed Cousins in the post.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • Rick Johnson

Is he saying George Karl is a snake in the grass?

  • zxcvb

Yeah. And it’s apparently something Melo, Iggy and Lawson all said before about Karl.

Seems like Cousins (or Karl) is going to be gone soon.

  • Rick Johnson

Seems like there is a lot of activity though. Like Lakers and Wade have interest. Rondo and Kings have interest. If they can’t talk how did the Rockets and Howard have a meeting right on July 1? They must have communicated to set up the meeting. Maybe they can talk to the agents?

  • zxcvb

According to that latest Woj article, it seems like Karl wants to blow it up and start it over.

It mentions that there are multiple takers for Rudy Gay (who had a resurgence in SAC) and that Karl and Ranadive want established players for Cousins rather than picks. How about Cousins to ORL for Vucevic and Frye? Lakers and Knicks don’t have any established stars to deal while Vuc is a rising star and Frye is a great stretch 4.

Maybe Lin can get in on this, too. He’d be a perfect fit in Karl’s system and GK has praised Lin highly before. He’s probably one of the few coaches “crazy” enough to start Lin and let him play his position.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Cousins is the franchise player that nobody should miss. George Karl should try to incorporate him in this new team. As to TY Lawson and Kenneth Faried, George Karl should try to drive a hard bargain to rip the Nuggets off directly or indirectly. Patience is the name of the game. Josh Kroneke would no doubt blow up his roster first. There could be many useful pieces, assistant coaches and players left for George to pick up.

  • Oddly, Woj’s article also mentioned Kings and Rondo have mutual interest.
    Other tweets said 1 yr-pact.

Rondo would be a bad fit for Karl system to push the pace. I’m not sure if it’s just rumor.

As for Cousins, the owner wants to keep him so this will be tough issue to resolve. Yes, shipping Cousins to Magic would make sense more than sending him to Lakers.

  • perhaps Kings want to see who will be bidding the highest for Cousins with the owner is reportedly wanting to keep him.

  • zxcvb

Yeah, I think that Rondo bit is from Divac…or Rondo’s agent. It makes no sense with Karl’s strategy and system. There seems to be a lot of turmoil/conflict in Sacramento. Would explain Malone and D’Alessandro leaving.

  • could be a ploy to get highest bidders for Cousins

  • we know Ty Lawson would make much more sense for Karl.
So Rondo rumor could be spread to help Kings have bargaining power

  • zxcvb

I agree. Cousins is too good to pass up. But if Karl wants to run his system, then he needs players who fit.

The rumors today had Vucevic going to Sacramento, which makes sense. He’s an elite midrange shooter at 47% from 16ft to the 3pt line. Cousins is only 38%. Vuc creates space for quick guards like Lin and Lawson to attack the rim.

I don’t know if the Kings are willing to help the Nuggets by giving them Cousins. They probably want to deal Cousins to the East if possible.

  • zxcvb

That’s a good point. Gotta create leverage, even if it’s false!

  • zxcvb

That’s definitely possible. Though Vlade being a former center himself, I feel like he does prefer to build around Cousins instead of Karl’s guard-driven attack.

  • JLin Fan from Australia
  • JLin Fan from Australia

Good point. I’m puzzled about that too. Team can express an interest, set up meeting prior 1 July but only can officially meet and make an offer on 1 July.

Much consideration has been given to Dallas as the future landing spot for Jeremy, I don’t think we have given enough consideration to the Now Orlean Pelicans.

First they have a superstar in Anthony Davis. Second, Omer Asak who is going to be an unrestricted free agent like Jeremy. I guess none has made him as productive in offense as Jeremy did.
Coach Alvin Gentry would probably be another factor that could attract Jeremy there.

    Guards situation:
Tyreke Evans SG ($10.7m signed thru 2017; 3.14 RPM ranked 9th)
Eric Gordon SG (player option exercised thru 2016 15m; played in 61 -1.4 RPM games ranked 47)
Jrue Holiday PG ($10.6m signed thru 2017; played only 40 games in 2014-2015 season and 34 games in 2013-2014; 3.20 RPM ranked 9th)

Jimmer Fredette PG (UFA; 10.2 MPG for 50 games -2.83 RPM ranked 59 )
Toney Douglas PG ($1,185,784 not guaranteed 14.8 MPG for 12 games -1.48 RPM ranked 40 )
Norris Cole PG (UFA 24.4 MPG for 75 games -3.12 RPM ranked 66)

The team needs a PG who can step in anytime to start because of the injury situation in Jrue Holiday who can only play half of the games in regular season) Norris Cole is young but is not an adequate support of PG with PER of 10.93 RPM -3.12) The PG position is the one holding the Pelicans back. Tyreke Evans could play the PG position too but his career 3 point shooting is below 30%.

The Pelicans situation would be interesting under Alvin Gentry. He could use Norris Cole as the back up PG but knowing that he couldn’t do much for him even giving him 24.4 MPG ranked 66 PER 10.93. He is not as costly though. In 2015-16, Cole will earn a base salary of $3,036,927 next season.

In contrast, Jeremy Lin can pick up the tempo of the game for Gentry like in GSW. RPM 1.66 PER 15.65 25.8 MPG for 74 games ranked 18. Jeremy would cost at least twice as much as Norris Cole. I really doubt if the Pelicans will keep Norris Cole though because there is no way the Alvin Gentry could pick up the tempo of the game with him. The Pelicans could be a very good running team with Anthony Davis. Both Tyreke Evans, Anthony Davis can play at fast tempo.

    (Jimmy Fredette, Toney Douglas, Norris Cole) salary total = $1m + $1.185 + $3m = $5.2m
I figure the Pelicans could make an offer around $6m or even more for Jeremy’s service to replace Fredette, Douglas and Cole.

As to SG situation, Eric Gordon only has one year option left on his contract which could free up some cap space in the future seasons. Also Tyreke Evans might also play PG for the Pelicans too. The Pelicans just need help in PG to elevate to the contender level. In order to go to playoff next season, the Pelicans has to beat Dallas and the Thunders. It’s a tall order to fill without good PGs.

Kings sound like a mess. Hope JLin doesn’t get caught up in that mess even with George Karl there:

Draft Buzz: Possible landing spots for Sacramento’s DeMarcus Cousins
    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/writer/ken-berger/25222603/draft-buzz-possible-landing-spots-for-demarcus-cousins

To see what could be ahead for the Sacramento Kings, we must look at how this franchise got to this level of dysfunction.

To review (and be patient, there is a lot to review when assessing the Kings):

In December 2013, the Kings acquired Rudy Gay from Toronto in an effort to complementDeMarcus Cousins with a capable wing scorer. A year later, with the Kings off to an encouraging 11-13 start while Cousins was bedridden with viral meningitis, they fired coach Michael Malone and replaced him with assistant Tyrone Corbin. The reason? Owner Vivek Ranadive wanted to play faster, despite the fact that the team’s best player, Cousins, was a plodding, low-post scorer.

The GM who begrudgingly executed the move, Pete D’Alessandro, subsequently hired George Karl, with whom he worked in Denver. After a season in which Cousins made his first All-Star team, he told the Washington Post of the Kings’ turmoil: “It’s been a circus, man. It’s been a complete circus.”

Two months ago, D’Alessandro was stripped of his decision-making power and replaced by Vlade Divac, who is now calling the shots. Earlier this month, D’Alessandro returned to Denver in a front-office role. Oh, and Malone is now the Nuggets’ head coach.

Now, two days before a draft in which the Kings hold the sixth pick, they are floating trade proposals as though the world is ending. “They have everyone on the table,” a rival executive told CBSSports.com Tuesday. “Everyone.”

Everyone includes Gay, the player the previous regime acquired to placate Cousins, and if Karl gets his wish, Cousins, himself. To which Cousins deftly responded on Twitter with a hot-fire emoji depicting a snake between blades of grass.

Ranadive and Divac continue to insist that Cousins is not available, which runs counter to Karl’s comment in April that he’s “never had one player that I have said was untradeable.” And while rival executives are dubious that anything of substance has changed on the Karl-Cousins front — beyond a well-placed leak that led to this pre-draft maelstrom — it’s never too early to consider the potential landing spots for the combustible but talented 24-year-old.

Cousins’ agent, Dan Fegan, would like to steer his client to the Lakers, who can offer Julius Randle and this year’s No. 2 pick — though rival teams doubt the Kings would send Cousins to a division rival. The Knicks are another team on Cousins’ list, but all the Knicks have to offer is the fourth pick (which, bear in mind, can’t officially be dealt until the Knicks use it, since their 2016 first-rounder already has been traded).

The team that can offer the most in terms of future assets for Cousins is the Boston Celtics, who’ve long had their eye on the Sacramento situation for that very reason. The Celtics have the 16th and 28th picks in Thursday night’s draft, plus a slew of future firsts — as many as six in the next two drafts and eight in the next three, depending on how the protections play out.

Here is the confusing part: Karl has signaled no interest in a full-on youth movement. He is chasing Don Nelson on the career wins list and wants to win now with veteran players. So why not keep your best players, add Emmanuel Mudiay or Willie Cauley-Stein to the mix with the sixth pick, and move on? One thing is certain: After missing on the eighth overall pick last year (Nik Stauskas, who is already on the trading block), the Kings need to get this offseason right for once.

For now, emojis are popping up all over, the circus music is playing and the Kings are the undisputed rulers of dysfunction.

The Sixers may have D’Angelo Russell in their sights. (USATSI)

Shakeup at the top? League sources say the Sixers want D’Angelo Russell and are willing to trade up from the No. 3 spot to get him. It would create an interesting opportunity for the Lakers, who could still get Jahlil Okafor and extract a future pick in the process. Among others, the Sixers control the Lakers’ 2016 first-round pick, which is top-3 protected.

Porzingis Project? While the Knicks may be hesitant to go with Latvian 7-footer Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth pick, given their infamous selection of Frederic Weis in 1999, a rival executive who has scouted him extensively disputed the notion that he’s a long-term project. “He’s the real deal,” the executive said. “He’s ready to go right now.”

Point guard for Pistons? If Emmanuel Mudiay falls to the Pistons at No. 8, they might be inclined to take him and let Reggie Jackson walk as a free agent. “They’re not 100 percent sold on Reggie,” a league source said. Detroit also likes Justise Winslow and Mario Hezonja at that spot, sources said, though Hezonja isn’t expected to get past the Magic at No. 5.

Wisconsin wild card. Wisconsin’s Sam Dekker is the wild card in the late lottery, with league sources pegging him anywhere from 10th (Miami) to 17th (Milwaukee). If the 6-9 forward is on the board when the Bucks pick, there will be tremendous pressure to take the local star from Madison — especially with the Bucks trying to build community and political excitement for a new downtown arena. Milwaukee native Kevon Looney of UCLA also could fit the bill.

I’m hearing that Mavs are likely to try to move Monta Ellis in trade if he opts in for final season of contract before tomorrow’s deadline.

    https://twitter.com/espn_macmahon/status/613477200411664384

  • this one is just a bit lazy.
Lin can be a Nugget if MDA is chosen to be the coach? Malone was already chosen last week.

Man, this news recycling business is getting stale

  • Monta-less Mavs will be Linteresting …

  • Brent Yen

If that happens, and Lin goes to mavs….then who will be the SG for MAVs is actually more interesting…

  • zxcvb

Danny Green would be ideal. Also Wes Matthews. Both are traditional 3&D shooting guards and great teammates. Green even played with Jeremy in D-League.

  • Brent Yen

Danny green can not alleviate ball handing duty from Lin tho. So when defense is tight, what happens to LBJ and Harden will happen to Lin, to a lesser extent I guess.

  • zxcvb

And that’s a good thing. The last thing Lin needs is a SG who thinks he’s a PG.

Right now, Lin needs to reestablish himself by playing as a primary ballhandler. He can worry about championships later.

Also, Parsons will probably handle the ball some (ugh), so that’ll be enough possessions taken away from Lin.

  • Brent Yen

Well….I guess that makes sense too…lol….you do not get all the goods anyway.

  • dolphin2k2

They are positioning CP as another ball handler.

Unless he’s improved I’m skeptical of that. CP wasn’t a great creator on his own when he played with JLin on the Rockets. He’d play well off of JLin creating though.

2010 redraft by Boston Globe: —-” Undrafted guard Jeremy Lin reslots at 13th to Toronto,……..”

    http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/06/22/redrafting-nba-lottery-picks-from-last-five-years/wyAF8voVBMSxCrbJNkDT0N/story.html

“This draft likely got a couple of GMs fired because of some poor lottery picks. The Wizards got it right by taking Kentucky guard John Wall No. 1 overall. And that’s about it for what went right.

The 76ers selected Ohio State swingman Evan Turner second, and while he has had his moments, in our redraft he drops out of the lottery, replaced at No. 2 by Fresno State’s Paul George, who originally dropped to No. 10 to Indiana.

At No. 3 the Nets took Georgia Tech freshman Derrick Favors. While he has been a solid starter in the league, he has never approached All-Star status. So he gets replaced by Kentucky’s DeMarcus Cousins, who was taken fifth by Sacramento.

Minnesota was fourth with Wesley Johnson, who is already on his third team and has never averaged more than 9.9 points in a season. Instead, the Timberwolves go with Butler’s Gordon Hayward, while the Kings take Georgetown center Greg Monroe.

Two names from this lottery that still boggle the mind are Ekpe Udoh (sixth to Golden State) and Al-Farouq Aminu (eighth to the Clippers). The Warriors instead take Eric Bledsoe, and the Clippers go with Favors. Lance Stephenson catapults from the second round to seventh overall to Detroit.

The rest of this lottery remains a challenge because it wasn’t a talented draft. Turner drops to ninth for Utah, the Pacers take Larry Sanders at 10, and Avery Bradley (originally 19th to the Celtics) goes 11th to New Orleans, replacing Cole Aldrich. Undrafted guard Jeremy Lin reslots at 13th to Toronto, which had selected Ed Davis.

It wasn’t a very good year.”

Crazy Light Boost

what people dont pick up on is how rare it is for a non drafted player to do anything in the nba. i still haven’t been able to find a simple comprehensive list of currently active roster players undrafted; but pulling from various sources, the best info i would be able to produce is that lin and wesley matthews have been just based on what basic numbers actually accomplished (nothing exotic and not fan or non-fan based)–the most productive non drafted players currently in the nba; jose calderon would come in close behind, then j.j. barea, maybe mozgov and haslem tailing, i may have forgotten someone but with the draft coming up would be a good time to emphasize the unique nature of lins sucess, not enuf sucess for both his fans and his critics often, but still clear and rare.

undrafted players are not averaging double digit scoring and 4 or 5 assists or rebounds for their carreer. not currently anyway not many, and really not ever.

only 3 undrafted players have ever played in an all star game.

  • zxcvb

Dallas seems like the most likely choice right now, but I’m keeping an eye on the Sixers. If the Lakers take Russell or the Sixers “gamble” on Porzingis or Hezonja, then Jeremy could be headed to Philly.

Sixers play an extremely fast pace.
They play in the much weaker East.
They have zero established PGs on the roster.
Brett Brown is one of the few coaches to praise Lin highly.
Lin lights up the Sixers every year; had some of his best games against them.
There’s a large Asian population in Philly.
Hinkie loves to inflate his players’ stats. So even if he’s traded, Lin can reestablish himself.

It will only help his FA values, even for teams making an offer as a backup

  • Brent Yen

JLin repeated said this in Asia:
    * Still believe he is a qualified/good starter and hold this more so than other offers
    * Fit to his style

I can see which team he will choose when we know which teams have offered him. From this, I can see that he will take up starter offer than backup one any time.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Draft will be on tomorrow???!!!!

  • All things point to a good fit between JLin and DAL system.

DAL was leading in such high offensive pace before they made the Titanic-move of signing Rondo.
It was an older Jameer Nelson who held the PG job. Lin would be such an upgrade over Jameer.

That’s why I think Rick Carlisle is smart enough to know JLin is the ideal candidate to run his system.
Let’s hope DAL front office support this move.

It helps to have Parsons to buddy-buddy with Cuban as a self-proclaimed recruiter. This is the one time I won’t mind him bragging about recruiting JLin later :]

rondo wasn’t even a starting guard when in dallas even before conflicts, they used a rotating trio or even quartet of guards all season.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Whatever team JLin chooses to play, I will have no issue. Follow him no matter what. If Mavs, then it will be good. Like JLin, we have to see the domino effects of draft, FA of Dragic, Rondo… before we know what will be out there. If JLin isn’t too concerns about his FA, I’m not as well. He definitely knows more than us:-)

Time? Maybe I will wake up with draft is over???

    u mean 24 hrs

  • 1mtoldman

    yes

    what changed yer view?

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

24 hr lull before the storm…

  • 1mtoldman

to clarify: with the assistance of j the g: the draft is 24 hours from now, sydney/melbourne are 14 hours ahead. so: would be …wait for it….9:00 a.m. fri. there.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Not sure why you say that. Technically he started all games for Mavs. As their record deteriorated and the conflicts started his minutes fluctuated but he always started.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Thanks! Too bad this happens after waking up and read thru draft storm or bombardment to get JLin news.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

There is one exception. If the Spurs offer Lin a multi-year deal, Lin would have to consider that offer very carefully. Even if it means not starting right away. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

i meant to be referring to actual minutes played during the game rather than who started; rondo started but rarely played starter minutes.

his minutes flucutated almost from the beginning and the larger point before rondo the mavs used mulitple point guards regardless of who started. and continued to do that while rondo was there. and after he had sort of removed himself at the end.

harris, barea, felton, rondo, nelson all got minutes. the most common circumstance was for a trio of point guards to get often nearly equal time.

    for the season:

    harris 1685 min/
    barea 1362 min
    rondo 1319 min
    nelson 584 min
    felton 281 min

btw rondo shot quite well in his time in dallas (better shooting % than for example lin’s season shooting %) tho historically post injury and for the season overall was/has been a “turrible” shooter.

of the 55 games dallas played with rondo on the roster; he got starter minutes in only 19 of them.

    was “inactive” for 8

    dnp in 1

and received reduced minutes (under 30 minutes per game) in the remaining 27.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

LOL I think you’re trying to stir the pot 🙂 But anyway, there is no reason to believe that after mortgaging the house to acquire a superstar like Rondo, the Mavs would not let him play starter minutes if things were going smoothly.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

With Mark Cuban, Dallas would opt for a horrible choice instead of Lin.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

No opportunity is worth playing cheap. Any team who is high on you would make a fair bid for the service. For those trying to lowball you and want you to play cheap, they aren’t worthwhile for Lin’s service.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I like Monta Ellis who has been the most steady performer on the court in the last decade.

Ellis has been having a great career in the last decade, one of the most outstanding SGs on the court.

We’ve suspected Clarkson has been inflated to be a trade asset. Wonder if Sacramento bites?

Maybe he’s just helping Beverley build up his market value. Also if it costs Houston more it would decrease cap space and cripple a division rival.

  • Tey Ling

Was informed those pics are in Xiamen. JLin is to arrive Chengdu today (25 June) and stay another day (26 June) and then leaves for HK only on 27 June. Am getting the hotel staff to “track” him down. Lol

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep JLin is still in Xiamen and will leave tonight and arrive Chengdu midnight. Programs described above are tomorrow. Still wait for details:-)

  • zxcvb

Randle and Clarkson are dead-weight, IMO. The real asset is the #2 pick, which is pretty tempting. With #2 and #6, the Kings could get Ozakfor and Hezonja or Porzingis and Cauley-Stein or Russell and Hezonja.

Karl supposedly wants proven players not picks, but maybe this is some sort of compromise between him and Vlade. Cousins’ power agent wants him in LA, but Orlando can offer a much better package (Vucevic, Frye, #5).

  • Rzo Vlade

The Bulls, who are badly in need of backcourt depth, will have numerous options in the draft to add a rotation piece, K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune writes. Playmakers who could potentially be available at the No. 22 overall pick include Delon Wright, Jerian Grant, and Tyus Jones, Johnson adds.

I must say the promo by Adidas is pretty bad, have randomly called an Adidas outlet in a popular street and personnel have no knowledge of whereabouts Jlin event. Could not even find the Adidas office contact no in Chengdu. Hmmmm

  • kittyhead

This package is ridiculous. I will be very surprised if Cousins is so cheap to get. Dream on, Lakers.

  • zxcvb

Toronto is shopping Lowry, Derozan and Valanciunas. I don’t really respect or trust Dwayne Casey, but he did coach Lin all the way back in 2010 summer league. But whatever. I doubt Raps do anything big this summer unless they intent on firing Casey.

  • zxcvb

It really is laughable. Maybe the Kings are also asking for the Lakers’ 2016 pick and to take back a bad contract or two (Thompson, Landry).

Unfortunately, power agents like Dan Fegan can wield a lot of power. I’m sure he’s telling the Kings to send Cousins to LA or else.

  • Rzo Vlade

man crazy draft year every one shopping everybody even the so called stars the warriors basketball effect small ball fast face

  • dolphin2k2

Cousin is on the books for the next 3 yrs on a cheap deal. No way I would give him up unless I get a superstar level player.

  • dolphin2k2

I am lukewarm on the MAV deal. I just don’t think CP is that impactful. TC is getting up there in terms of age and Dirk is 3/4 way into retirement. But Lin will likely get a real chance at running the point which is more than he has had since NYK days.

  • Maknusia

I like CP and he is a good player…but thus far he havent proved to be able to go to the next level. Maybe he can, and due to circumstances…but bottomline he havent shown it yet

Rookies and draft picks are on cheap contracts. Even if they get a Max All-star they need roll players. If they trade all their cheap picks and rookies with Kobe’s contract sucking up so much of the cap they will have trouble getting good roll players. They are better off going after Aldrige or Love and keeping their pick and rookies.

NBA Free-Agency Rumors: Jeremy Lin on Mavericks’ Wish List to Replace Monta Ellis

    http://en.yibada.com/articles/40720/20150624/nba-free-agency-rumors-jeremy-lin-on-mavericks-wish-list-to-replace-monta-ellis.htm

According to McMahon, the Mavericks are expected to reload their lineup this offseason, although their main priority is to use a major portion of their cap money to bring in Dallas native LaMarcus Aldridge, who will demand a contract worth not less than $20MM per year.

The Mavericks are also determined to re-sign Tyson Chandler, while San Antonio Spurs’ Danny Green and Portland Trail Blazers’ Wes Matthews emerge as the early options at the shooting guard position.

Because of these future commitments, the Mavs are likely to play small ball on their next point guard. With Rondo a goner after a nightmarish stint last season, McMahon believed the Mavs would either select a point guard in this year’s draft or make a run for Lin or Mo Williams.

“Two free agents to keep in mind: Mo Williams, a local resident who has expressed interest in playing for the Mavs before; and Jeremy Lin, Parsons’ friend and former Houston Rockets teammate,” according to McMahon.

  • kittyhead

So JJ is his personal scout now? lol The question is what teams will give him offer among those suitable teams…Maybe Nuggets is one of them?

Interview when JLin just arrived @ Xiamen last night (24 June)

  • zxcvb

I agree. That would probably be the best place for him. But apparently he feels “underappreciated” in Portland with Lilliard being the #1 guy. So he probably doesn’t want to share the spotlight with Rose (or Butler). He can be “the man” in San Antonio, LA and Dallas with Duncan, Kobe, and Dirk retiring soon.

  • zxcvb

Thanks! Wow. It’s very interesting that he and Jeffries are in such close contact. Maybe Denver is still in play after all? I can imagine Jeffries pulling for MDA + Lin in Denver, but with Malone as coach I doubt the Nuggets are still interested.

Went to 4 Adidas stores in Chengdu and none knows whereabouts of JLin tomorrow. Managed to call Adidas office in Chengdu and was told to call in tomorrow morning at 10 am and they will then inform which store he is officiating. Just do not understand Adidas marketing strategy.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

I know. JLin fans in Chengdu are very frustrating as well. They can’t get the info as well. Maybe some are going to airport tonight to greet JLin. However, some urge them not to do so. Too unsafe as the flight will arrive past midnight I believe.

  • Bearness

I hope Lin signs with: 1. a young athletic team with a good big man, and 2. where he can get ton of minutes as a starter. Problem is finding a team that will give him both. Not sure if there is such a team, especially one that will offer him #2. But, I think it’s vital for rest of his career that he becomes a starter next season. I hope his run with Rockets and Lakers didn’t solidify his status as a back up.

  • KL

It is also important that Lin avoids tanking teams. Lin is not going to do a Jordan Clarkson, padding stats in a losing cause. Lin always tries to will his team to victory.

Regardless of the system I believe Lin will eventually find a way to be successful as long as the team is not trying to lose.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    Too many to translate:-)

JLin is pretty funny young man. He has shown his playing side more and more with his fans. It is much noticeable to fans now:-)

  • Maknusia

Brent Yen …get your butt here and translate!!! 🙂

    Google helped a little…

-Nash had some good advise on his release!

-He is concerned on Synergy data and how Morey and scouts uses it…he will study the report and improve on his shootings

-He is not happy with this 3pointers (37%)…he is targeting to hit 40% or more! Normally due to his tired legs…his shot accuracy takes a hit

    – Lin and JJeffries did some homework on possible teams…there are about 12-15 PnR teams including Warriors that would suit his playing. He still keep in touch with Linsanity teammates

    – Although there was delay in his flight arrival, he still spared his time in training

Thats the little I could do 🙁

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yes, you’ve got both questions right:-)

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Basically you’ve got things right except Synergy data. The idea of working to improve his shooting release is also from the study of Synergy data.

When asked whether he knew that from Synergy report that his PnR percentage is higher than superstars (Westbrook, Rose…)? JLin said he knew. But he played too little PnR in the past season. Hence, it’s important to find a team that fits his style.

Brent or anyone, please provide a better translation than this:-)

So let’s say Mavs decide to get JLin. Who do you want as SG? What’s the starting lineup you want?

  • GoodDayLA

I do not believe the Mavs will end up with Jlin. Slim to none.

But if they do, I believe Lin always does best with a SG who is decently big like Iman Shumpert.

Those small undersized backcourts do not work. Lin should be the shortest guy on his team playing.

  • GoodDayLA

If toronto would get rid of Grievas Vasquez, I hope if they trade Demar too, Lin might end up there even if it’s off the bench. But with Drake in Toronto, I suspect Toronto will never go with Lin ever.

  • 7iger

    Jaw dropping!

  • WillChang

    New poster here!

I’m very excited about FA coming up. Any ideas as to how much Lin will be offered?

  • Welcome, Will. Glad you can join us 🙂

Lin’s salary definitely depends on whether he’s offered a starting or backup PG position.

Stats-wise, there is a recent article stating he didn’t under-perform or over-perform the $8M/yr salary in the past 3 years.
I couldn’t find the link yet.

There is another article in 03/15 that stated he should earn more than $4M/yr average league salary.
And the estimate was between $4.5 and $5.5 M/year.
    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2394721-how-much-is-jeremy-lin-worth-in-loaded-2015-nba-free-agent-class

IMO if Lin is offered as a starting PG in Mavs then he can earn $5-$7M/year with 2 year contract (2nd year optional)
Lin’s marketing draw shouldn’t be underestimated to sell tickets and get sponsors so it can be more.

  • WillChang

Thank you very much! That sounds reasonable.

I have read on other sites that if Lin were not Asian he would be getting upwards of 11 million. Do you think that’s over the top?

  • WillChang

I like Lin and the Mavs!

  • Brent Yen

I would say he should have at least getting whatever Parsons or Hayward is getting.

  • Rick Johnson
  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Three years ago Lin was signied for $8.3 mil/year. Lin was just as Asian then as he is now. What has happened in the past 3 years to reduce his value so sharply? I would argue that Morey and Mchale and then Kobe and Bs conspired to hurt his career. The question then becomes, what was their motivation for doing so? Are Morey, Mchale, and Kobe all racists that discriminate against Asians?

  • That’s a tricky question.

If Lin were not Asian, would he not threaten the star position of Melo/Harden/Kobe that he couldn’t play his best as the ball-handling PG? IMO it’s both race and ego that threaten the popularity of NBA stars

But yeah, if Lin can be starting PG playing 32+min/game in a good PnR system then his stats would make him earn more than $8M-12/year. No worries, let’s hope Lin land in a system that fits him like a glove next season

  • wow .. I thought LMA likes being in Portland
So he doesn’t think POR can attract big-name FAs & feels underappreciated

Spurs, Lakers and Dallas are apparently the contenders

  • Alain Gervais

if spurs get him they found a good replacement for duncan for the next 5 years. there reign would be just beginning. only if they had a replacement for parker….?????

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

To help answer my own question, here is an excerpt of an interview with NBA legend, Larry Bird:

Reilly: Why didn’t you sign Jeremy Lin? (Bird is the president of basketball operations for the Indiana Pacers.)

Bird: I don’t care what anybody says, nobody knew what that kid was going to be. I only heard about him one time. Our Northeast scout came to me two years ago. It’s the only time I ever heard one word about the kid.

Reilly: What did the scout say?

Bird: “This kid can really play.”

    Reilly: And … ?

Bird: I didn’t want somebody on the team who’s that much smarter than me!

A lot of people think that last statement was just a joke. But jokes are funny because they contain some element of truth.
In my opinion, Lin being a Harvard graduate is more of an obstacle for him in the NBA than being Asian is. Now if Lin were a black or even a white Harvard graduate, that would be much less of a problem. People could eventually forget where he went to school. But in Lin’s case, no one can ever forget that he’s the Asian kid who graduated from Harvard.

Rumors say Boston are offering Smart to climb up in the draft. So I know we all think Dallas could get Jeremy but if Celtics trade Smart I think they can make an offer for Jeremy. As starter

  • Rick Johnson

Wow, that was quick, Kings are a mess of an organization. Hope JLin stays away.

  • dolphin2k2

I would try to keep LMA over DL if it comes down to one or the other. PG position is stacked, DL has less leverage. Can’t let a more valuable player leave for nothing. 125mil for DL is ridiculous.

  • dolphin2k2

Lakers are just fodder. Spurs has better than a 50% chance. Next is Mav.

  • Spot

I remember you all, Lamarcus was in the list of the players who missed more shots. There were Melo, Harden, Kobe, Lamarcus and Ellis. Psalm joked: that means Jeremy will play with Aldridge next year? Good God, no please!

  • Spot

Aldridge is no Duncan. Duncan is unselfish, Aldridge bricks shots after shots.
Danny Green is nowhere close to Ginobili. When Argentina won the gold medal in the Olympic Games, Manu was the best basketball player in the world. Danny Green is a good 3&D

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Well either DMC goes or Karl goes. If Karl survives, it might not be so bad for Lin.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Lin can be as good as Parker, Leonard is still getting better and Pop will tame LMA?

  • Grace Nsns

Finally JLin landed Chengdu airport @4am, got delayed a few hours due to airspace management, fans were still waiting for him.

LOL Happened when I just finished my dinner and had tons of energy to work on this. I know fans enjoy to see this in one place rather than looking all around everywhere:-)

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

He does take a ton of shots but as a big man, many of them are dunks which would contribute to Lin’s assists. He also shoots 3’s but he makes 35% which is so much better than Kobe’s 29%. I think Spurs would still be a good team for Lin.

Stinks to see Jeremy Lamb getting jerked around in OKC and now sent to Charlotte. He’s not going to succeed next to a selfish chucker like Kemba. But Lamb is really talented, a team player and he and Lin would have made a great backcourt.

  • zxcvb

Lin was never coming back to the Lakers, don’t know why anyone thought it was possible.

But just as we all said, even the Lakers know Clarkson is crap; demoted to the bench as soon as possible. He was starting because he was crap…secure the tank and inflate a bad player’s stats for trade value. And hey, it worked! Credit to them, ha.

  • zxcvb

Lin to Sixers? I don’t think they want Mudiay. He’s not BPA or even a decent jumper shooter.

Mudiay at #7 (says Woj) rules out Denver for Lin, despite Jeffries conferring with him. Unless they make that #7 + Nurkic for Porzingis trade that was rumored.

If the Sixers are keeping Okafor, then Embiid may indeed be in real injury trouble. But Okafor’s midrange jumper isn’t great, so I don’t know about the spacing for Lin’s drive.

You don’t find these two bigs once in a decade. Lakers picks the SG/PG whatever. Don’t they get Jordon Clarkson. There goes the lies about Clarkson who is just used to diss Jeremy. 76ers wins big!!!! I almost think Jeremy could go to 76er.

  • sport

Aldridge is an unselfish player and a star PF that would work well with Lin!! Watched him play against the Rockets during last season’s playoff, his mid jumpers are golden back to back 40 pt games!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Best of luck! I don’t think Lakers will ever be dominant again.
Jahlil Okafor could be the best big man for the Lakers and their offense.

If Denver keeps Mudiay, then Lawson is out. But the Mavs don’t have the assets to get him. And Sixers will want someone younger (Lin is probably the oldest PG they’d sign). Maybe the Bucks will take Lawson?

As of now, I’m still seeing Mavs and Sixers for Lin.

Glad the Lakers drafted Russell. Now there is 0% Lin stays with Lakers.

  • kittyhead

He could always learn from Kobe how to brick one after another and sit on the bench in Q4 because Kobe needs to play pg to rest. He will be all right!

  • kittyhead

LMA wants a ring and he is 30 already, so I will say the possibility that he joins Lakers is zero.

  • kittyhead

    Definitely not, Rox fans are.

  • kittyhead

Hinkie’s reputation in NBA seems not good…He’s the biggest factor I’m worried about. I dont want to see Lin is in the trade rumors all the time if he goes to Sixers. But their bigs and playing fast are great no doubt.

    NOT FOR ANY TEAM.

    Black with silver = Spurs

  • Alain Gervais

    dallas pick

  • Rzo Vlade

    amino replacement

  • zxcvb

Mavs take SF Justin Anderson at #21. That’s a great pick for them…and Lin. Excellent 3&D role player with an elite wingspan. I thought they might take a PG like Tyus Jones or SG like RJ Hunter.

Lin and Green backcourt in Dallas? Make it so.

  • zxcvb

They should keep Aminu anyway. He can guard both forward positions and his jumper is improving. And he’s so athletic, he can finish oops and PnRs with authority.

  • Rzo Vlade

he is UFA dallas cannot match aminou will chose big money

  • zxcvb

I read a report that his market is “4M per year.” That’s affordable.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

LOL Let’s wait and see. Any team other than Lakers, Knicks and Rox are all good to me. Hopefully one of those 12-15 teams that JLin is planning for:-)

  • wandertheglobe

Rox will be making a run for Lawson

  • real-dsb

Sam Dekker is a good player, but bad fit for Rockets. CBSSports gave Rockets a D for that pick.

  • real-dsb

Especially with Monta gone, that was my prereq for Lin joining the Mavs.

  • real-dsb

“wouldn’t it be funny if the rox take a shot at lin”

No, that would NOT be funny.

“and mavs out bid them again lol best outcome”

Oh, yes, that would be funny!

  • real-dsb

Funny thing was that Dekker compared himself to Ariza… maybe the Rockets read that and decided to draft Dekker. LOL

I feel bad for Dekker. His talents will be wasted on the Rockets.

  • real-dsb

I wasn’t worried either, but there was a tiny 1% chance. 0% is infinitely better than 1%. =)

  • Alain Gervais

why would green leave the spurs

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    LOL Got it:-)

  • Tey Ling

Hmm… It is one of the stores we visited yesterday and they have no idea on JLin ‘s attendance if any. Am still waiting for a call from Adidas Chengdu office, if no reply within next hour will just pop into store again and stop in shangri la hotel. The hunt continues ……

  • real-dsb

Green’s a FA, Spurs supposedly would pay Green around $10-12M. So another team could lure him away with a bigger offer.

  • Rick Johnson

Mav’s looking more and more likely. But as far as a team what do they have now? Parsons / Norwitzki. They gave up a bunch of good young players to get Rondo. They better hope they can snag Cousins, Aldridge or Love to make them competitive.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Believe most of the events happen in Shangri-la Hotel except after Adidas event.

  • Alain Gervais
  • zxcvb

If they want LMA, they probably can’t even afford that. Bellineli gives them 80% of what Green does at 40% of the cost.

  • zxcvb

Not really worried about that right now. In fact, it’s better for Lin and Dallas if they’re “forced” to use Lin as much as possible instead of leaning on Aldridge and playing slow.

Deandre Jordan would be a better pickup (and rumors are that he wants Dallas). Mavs need interior defense and athleticism. The offense will be fine with Carlisle’s system and Lin creating off PnRs.

  • Alain Gervais

added some other teams to think of like the wizards. interesting i would say

  • Kwok Wai Lai

LAKERS DOESN’T SEEM TO IMPROVE MUCH WITH THEIR PICKS.

  • Tey Ling

Updates on JLin in Chengdu: was just informed (by a phone call) by a Chinese official from Adidas Chengdu office that there has been a change of plans for Lin, the Adidas store opening by Lin is cancelled, no media function today, and if to meet Lin the best chance is at Shangril La hotel .

  • Alain Gervais

hhhhmmmm why?????? teams talking to him??

  • Tey Ling

    Don’t know la ……

  • Alain Gervais

why they drafted a pg. maybe a goodbye call

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

    Still have Tyson Chandler no?

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Oh no. So disappointed! Hope you are able to see JLin @Shangri-La Hotel.

  • zxcvb

    Whoa. Thanks for the news!

Maybe an urgent phone meeting with his agent (i.e. potential offer). You’re not allowed to sign until July 1st, but teams still talk under the table. For example, I read that Vazquez knew he was being traded last week.

  • Alain Gervais

all signs still point to dallas

  • Tey Ling

It’s ok, had interesting moments in the hunt, will be going to Shangril la hotel in a short while, if not lucky there’s still this site that keeps me happy …. Cheers and stay healthy.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

    The direct thread is http://tieba.baidu.com/p/3851599077?pn=2

  • zxcvb

Also a free agent. There’s heavy speculation that if Jordan chooses the Mavs, the Clips will arrange a sign-and-trade to switch centers. Tyson is a perfect fit on the Clips — he still has a couple good years left and he can actually hit FTs!

“opting in” means the player (hibbert in this case) had an “option” i.e. “opting” to stay with the team next year at a specific price (in this case 15.5 mil)–he excersied that option by “opting in”.

the technical answer to “what it means”.

as to the larger answer of what it means for hibbert/pacers: the second answer above from dolphin is probably the more correct answer, speculation is now that hibbert has exercised his option the pacers will try to trade his high salary for someone else with an equally high salary that they would prefer to have.

  • 1mtoldman

suns as reported elsewhere now have the unique situation of a 4 deep point guard depth chart of all former kentucky wildcats.

  • Rick

Pacers want to play a fast, uptempo game according to both their GM and Owner. They want Hibbert to be gone. But Hibbert does not want to throw his money away, so he opts in. Now they have to trade him if they want to stick to their original plan

  • Rzo Vlade

    yes satnam dallas

  • 1mtoldman

actually and you can correct me if you can show somewhere its says otherwise but my understanding is that free agency begins july 1 however teams can not Offcially sign anyone until, well thats the part im uncertain of, either the 8th 9th or 10th.

it was previously the 8th, i have seen it posted as both the 9th and the 10th for this year.

Sixers draft 0 PGs (5 bigs and 1 swingman) and have 0 established PGs on the roster.

Watch out for Lin in Philly…

  • JLin Fan from Australia

That’s what PFV said as well. So, most likely teams for JLin are Mavs and Philly for now:-)

  • zxcvb

    Yes! You’re right about that.

For all intents and purposes though, deals can be made after July 1st. That’s the date that matters. The actual signing period is just a formality.

  • sport

Only if Philly isn’t tanking they are known to be the forever tanking team. Also they aren’t a big market team.

  • zxcvb

Philly’s a pretty big market actually. Large Asian population too.

Even if they tank again, I don’t care. Unlike Morey, Hinkie always “inflates” the stats of his assets. Jrue Holiday, Thad Young, Hawes, MCW, Evan Turner…

  • Peter Truong From Riverside CA

  • zxcvb

Lin as a true starting PG on an East team will at least be a playoff team.

    Ya! It’s normal w China flight. 2 to 3 hours it’s normal.

  • CJSHYY

True. I believe no one wish to be draft by Lakers w Kobe is still on the team but just have no choice… LOL!

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Yep it’s just a stepstone to NBA. Don’t think they will get a fair chance with KB and BS in Lakers.

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Thank God that this is the last stop in China. Wonder whether other NBA players have the same hectic schedule as JLin when they travel in China.

  • Alain Gervais

philly a tanking warning. cant go through that again

  • John Lee

If Hinkie can inflate MCW enough to fool the Bucks, imagine what he’d to with Jeremy…IF he’s into that.

@Tey Ling Hope you can see this message: Shangri-la said that JLin would show how to make sushi at their cafe. Go there. Saw many fans have taken pics with JLin. Chance to meet him is great!

No luck, now enjoying my high tea at hotel lobby. Saw the media room on 3rd floor, pretty small, looks like Adidas wants JLIN presence in Chengdu to be low key.

Did go to the hotel, was late as taxi broke down, waited for another taxi, bad traffic jam. Went to 3rd floor of hotel, nobody around, just a sign board with wording Adidas, went into the room used for the Lin interview earlier. Well if it is not meant to meet it is not meant to be. However had a nice cheese cake and a drink at hotel lobby lounge while listening to soothing music by a pianist.

Oh no. Wish you were able to join JLin’s sushi making event. Seem like everyone had fun there:-)

My impression after the draft is: Good teams get better and bad teams get worse with one exception 76ers really makes a steal in getting Okafor. He’s absolutely should be the number 1 pick.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Watching you lose big time and falling out of playoff!

  • Kwok Wai Lai

The only good thing I can say about this team is their coach. They finally have found a franchise player that they can build on. They can make a turn around by getting some pieces from the free agent market and start competing. Getting Okafor at 3. Gee the 3rd draft choice isn’t that bad afterall.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Jeremy can really picks up the tempo of a game. With lots of young pieces, they might run lots of team out of court.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Portland did want to give him a max contract.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    a team of another planet.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

    Absolutely. At 10!
    Paul George was at 10.
    Stephen Curry at 7.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

A young and innocent owner that turns a winner to loser overnight.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

I think Lakers and 76ers are going in different directions now.
76ers seem to find their franchise player and Lakers will have years of losing seasons after this.
Byron Scott always looks confident specially when his team sucks big time.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

It takes years for a PG to develop.

  • Kwok Wai Lai

Okafor is the best big man in 76ers.

i find this very interesting and telling… this shows how much the LA Lakers still worship at the alter of Kobe. How deluded they are by his past abilities and how much they still will hang on his fading star. Run, JLin, Run!!! from this.

This kid had a right to voice his opinion over the case. But of course the LA Lakers will continue to scrub as hard as they can to take any tarnish off Kobe. Offensive?! Mitch!?? Offensive is Kobe raping a girl and paying her off and all of you knowing it and ignoring it and covering it up. Offensive is Kobe’s unchecked ego.

    http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/13152276/los-angeles-lakers-gm-mitch-kupchak-addresses-larry-nance-jr-tweet-2012-kobe-bryant

“Nance’s tweet, which was deleted within minutes of his selection by the Lakers, read: “Gee I sure hope Kobe can keep his hands to himself in Denver this time.” It also included the hashtag “#rapist.”

“”I’ve spoken to Larry Nance Jr. with John Black, our public relations director,” Kupchak said Thursday night. “Really, I’m not in a position to really share information. But it is something that they will have to discuss amongst the two of them.

“My understanding is that it’s something that happened years ago, and in today’s world, things don’t go away, which really doesn’t make it any less offensive because it was said three, four years ago.”

  • JLin Fan from Australia

Sad to see this. Because of fame and money, people could get away from such an appaling behavior.

  • Yascar

Absolutely agree. Thank goodness Jeremy is out of LA. Just once, I’d like for him to go a team with some integrity but I’m beginning to lose hope that even exists. Hopefully Jeremy is stronger now, and can take care of himself and his career going forward. Poor kid has taken a lot of knocks.

  • 7iger

Yup, get Lin too so Mavs will be the team that have the most fans.

  • Jeremiah (the Grey)

Kobe is wholly responsible for the horrendous way Lin was treated by the Lakers this season. (No it’s not the coach; BS obeyed Kobe’s orders.) The publicity caused by drafting a player who tweeted about Kobe being a rapist has again put egg on the face of Kobe and the entire Lakers franchise. That’s a good thing. It’s not at all surprising that the Lakers PR staff are now in damage control mode. The Lakers would like to have Kobe play one more season and then fade away. But there was never a chance that Lin would sign up to play alongside Kobe for
