2014-15 Season Predictions

This is an open discussion thread for people to post their predictions for this season, now that preseason is over. This will be fun to look back on after the season is over.

Vegas oddsmakers have predicted 32.5 wins for the Lakers. My conservative prediction for the Lakers is 35 wins. My optimistic prediction is 45 wins, but it won’t be enough to get to make the playoffs.

As for Lin, my conservative prediction for him is 15 ppg, 6 apg. My optimistic prediction is 18 ppg, 7 apg. If he can reach those numbers, given the popularity of the Lakers and himself, I think he gets voted to the all-star game.

What are your predictions?

Can we call that abuse of power?

  • 7iger

I think, Jazz will get more wins than that?

If somehow Scott brings Lin off the bench, he should win 6th Man of the Year.

“Los Angeles Lakers (Last season’s record: 27-55): Kobe Bryant showed promise by scoring 26 points in his final preseason game, but the Lakers overall have a poor roster.”

I can’t help it. =p The caching service essentially hides the new post from everyone else except me for a couple hours. Up to site admin to increase cache refresh rate.

  • well, you could still post direct link from Disqus comment in the previous comment and give 10 min buffer for people to race :]

So I was curious what their predictions were last year and it seems no better than just guessing.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/24117589/win-totals-vs-over/under-odds-for-the-2013-2014-nba-season

    For example,

    Lakers
    – Prediction: 33-41
    – Actual: 27

    Rockets
    – Prediction: 53-55
    – Actual: 54
Now that one was pretty accurate

    Trailblazers
    – Prediction: 38-45
    – Actual: 54
Not only did they exceed expectations, they also crushed the Rockets.

    Suns
    – Prediction: 15-21
    – Actual: 48
    Again, beating expectations.

    Spurs
    – Prediction: 55-57
    – Actual: 62
Why do so many analysts overlook the Spurs?

    Raptors
    – Prediction: 35-38
    – Actual: 48

    Bobcats
    – Prediction: 22-28
    – Actual: 49

So hopefully we’ll be like the Trailblazers. Underdogs all the way until we squeeze into the playoffs!
